These vacuums are overpriced pieces of garbage. They constantly get clogged, they have terrible suction, unless you put it on high suction, then the battery dies after three rooms. For $700 you’d figure the battery would last for the whole house…it doesn’t. Go with a Shark. Far superior quality and functionality.

I wanted to share my situation as the more I look into solutions I see that my experience with Dyson is common. I had bought a Dyson Submarine 15 1.5 years ago with the 2 year warranty. I have not had any issues until this month where it just turned off. No obstructions, battery depletion warning, just turned off. I waited almost 1.5 hours on the Dyson chat getting transferred over 4 times and then I was disconnected. I called and the representative put my on hold without informing me. I was on hold for approx 15 min. She did not provide me with the location or rep id.

I called back and was told that the battery was the first thing that was required to start the process. It has been out of stock (1st solution so everyone is probably waiting on their battery). I was offered a refurbished item but it doesn't show anywhere that the warranty changed. In fact the warranty states new product in within the warranty period. Terrible Customer service and does not back the warranty process any longer. I wonder if it's because the head office has moved?

Second one failed the same way while under warranty, but after diagnosing the issue (red light blinks) and sending shipping label Dyson refused to fix because ‘diagnosis’ was outside of their timeframe. My issue seems minor compared with the other people leaving reviews. But I’m going to mention it because of the underhanded way Dyson conducts business. Was in the middle of replacement battery purchase for my V11. A banner appears across the top of my screen(I have a screenshot of it), “Save 10% on your next purchase when you sign up for texts from Dyson.” I sign up and redeem the discount. When purchase goes through, 10% discount is missing. Called support and was told the discount is only for new vacuums.

I explained that’s not what the banner said…it just says next purchase. Support says there is nothing they can do. I told them to delete my info because I don’t want texts if I’m not getting my 10%. Support says they can’t do that either. So I accessed my account and changed my name to Unhappy Customer, along with a bogus phone number and email. I can’t stand slimy business practices. Little things like this really sour the purchasing public on looking favorably on a large corporation. Dyson…do better!

Please please don’t buy from Dyson. They are scammers who had me send my unit so they can replace it because it was heating up and not working properly. I sent my unit to them and it’s been 3 weeks. I got notification and proof that they received it (both from UPS and a Dyson email). I waited for my replacement unit or an email to confirm they sent me my replacement only for them to tell me that the unit they received doesn’t match the serial and they won’t send me a new (or send me my unit back). I asked to speak to a manager and he admitted they have issues in their warehouse. It has been one month and no vacuum. They literally stole my vacuum and refuse to send me a new one. No one has answered and the entire customer service is in India. They have zero clue what is going on in the warehouse. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. I will never buy Dyson again and will leave this review everywhere.

I recently purchased a reconditioned Dyson vacuum from the Dyson website. Still very pricey. Dyson claims are that their reconditioned vacuums are not used, but are instead return items that pass rigorous testing before purchase. When the vacuum finally arrived (took 2 weeks) it arrived with 100% dead/depleted battery. The replacement battery which customer service ordered a week ago now, has not been shipped yet. I was also put on endless holds by customer service reps who did not know how to answer direct questions about the product I purchased or why the battery would arrive depleted/dead.

I have a gen 5 detect. One of the guide wheels on the carpet attachment has broken off for the second time. It is a design flaw, as the piece holding the wheel in place is far too small. I cannot glue it a second time. Dyson support was pretentious, stating at first that wear and tear is not covered under the warranty. After hearing this, I simply hung up the phone. Five minutes later I get a call stating that "for this one time only, we'll make an exception and provide the part". After waiting 5+ minutes, the representative came back on the call to state that they are experiencing technical difficulties (good timing??), and that I should call back later. This is a common strategy used by many call centres to discourage customers as most people don't have the time and/or patience to call again.

Our Dyson v12, which is still under warranty, won't turn on unless I take the battery off and reinsert it. Ticket raised on 18 April and the part I need is on backorder. Called for update on 5 June and item is still on backorder. They will replace the vacuum but make it my problem to package it up and ship to them before sending a replacement. I don't have packaging and am not willing to pay whatever postage is needed. I asked about them sending a replacement to me along with an RMA# so I could use that packaging to send mine back. Was told that is against policy and I need to send mine back first. Summary: Almost 2 months waiting on a part for a new vacuum and now making it my problem! Fortunately, we bought this at Costco, so we'll take it there for a full refund.

I called her and confronted her, she kept insisting I got a discount from the retail price. Why would I need to pay a retail price when it is on sale?? She accused me of complaining 'cause she is a woman of color. I am not ** either which she knows since I met her yesterday. Then she threatened me that she is going to write on my profile. Upon completion of all the documents they required they proceeded to tell me they are not responsible for the defect even though it is within the manufacture's warranty, because I did not buy it from an authorized dealer. Dear Dyson, You have lost a customer for life. My Dyson V8 Absolute serial number W2R-US-SJE1782A. I have been a 15 year Dyson Customer having purchased one canister vacuum and three battery stick vacuums. The initial suction and reliability of the stick vacuums is impressive… until you hit the the end of year one. This is when things start to go wrong. We have two different locations where we use two Dyson stick vacuums and we spend an equal amount of time at each location. On average, our Dysons are used 15 minutes per week, primarily hardwood floors so we are not using the powerhead. With all three battery vacuums, the units start to go into a “pulse” mode, where it is almost like the unit is starved of “air” and then they simply shut down. Dyson website and YouTube all confirm that you need to ensure that filters are cleaned and there is no debris or impediments in the assembly.

Finally after this happening with our third Dyson, I decided to put in a warranty claim. THIS WAS THE START OF THE WORST EMAIL EXCHANGE AND CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER RECEIVED. Seven emails from Dyson, all from different people, all advising me what I need do, even though my information to them covered this off in detail. They will do everything that they can to not provide you with their contact information for a warranty department. Do not buy a dyson stick vaccum. It will fail, you will not get customer service and you will be out an extraordinary amount of your hard earned dollars. Thankfully I purchased this item at costco so I will be able to return it. I will never purcahse a dyson product again.

We have owned our Dyson ‘Ball’ Floor Vacuum (yellow in colour) for a few years now & have not had any issues to date. We really like it! We bought a Dyson V8 Upright Vacuum approximately two years ago to do the lower level of our home. We did not use it as much as the floor one. After using the V8 Upright 2-3 times, the vacuum would stop - No power. We charged it after every use to make sure it was ready to go for the next vacuum session. We also made sure it had power when we started to vacuum. It finally stopped charging showing all red & would not function at all.

We wrote to Dyson & provided the necessary info. They indicated it was a battery charging issue, but the part was on back order. We waited for more than 6 months & did eventually get an email advising the part was still on back order. We have heard nothing since (approx. 1 year ago). We decided to purchase a second vacuum & went with Miele brand as they seem to have better reviews. I should note we also purchased a Dyson handheld years ago & the same problem occurred. As indicated, I like my Dyson Ball/Floor vacuum, but I have no confidence with any of their upright vacuums.

Disastrous Customer Experience with Dyson. I have never encountered a more frustrating and disappointing customer service experience than with Dyson. I am absolutely appalled by Dyson's customer service, and I feel compelled to warn others about the nightmare I’ve experienced. Here’s why I will never buy from them:

First, Dyson claims to have an exchange policy, but they completely disregard it. After providing all the necessary documentation and following their instructions to the letter, they refused to honor the policy without any valid explanation. It feels like they’re actively trying to avoid taking responsibility. Every time I follow up, I get a different representative who either doesn’t bother to read the email thread or genuinely tries to avoid helping. It’s clear that they have no real desire to resolve anything. If you manage to speak with someone, be prepared for them to patronize you and placate you with empty promises. It’s so frustrating, especially when you’re already dealing with the inconvenience of their faulty products.

On top of that, the customer service calls are taken in a call center overseas, where there’s constant background noise, laughter, and yelling. It’s hard to take them seriously when the call center environment feels so unprofessional and chaotic. They’ll claim they’re transferring you to a manager, but in reality, you just get another person who does nothing to help.

I’ve asked repeatedly for a callback, but Dyson can’t even be bothered to follow through with that. And don’t even get me started on the issue of proof — I have solid proof that my item was delivered to their warehouse, but they continue to ignore that and refuse to honor the exchange. To make matters worse, it’s obvious that they use AI to generate emails instead of actually looking into your case. The responses are impersonal, generic, and downright insulting.

At the end of the day, Dyson has essentially stolen from me, and based on my experience, they are actively defrauding customers by not honoring their own policies. I would warn anyone thinking of buying from Dyson to think twice — this company has the absolute worst customer service I’ve ever encountered. It’s the kind of experience that makes you question if they even care about their customers at all. Do yourself a favor and avoid this company.

If I could give them a negative star I would. I bought a Dyson upright 20+ years ago. I loved that vac and never had any issues with it. I no longer have carpet, so I decided to by the big ball canister model which I bought directly from them. After receiving it I realized the bottom of the canister does not latch properly every time. I contacted Dyson and when they could not get a repair label to print, they said they would just send a replacement. I sent the original machine back within a day and waited on the new one to arrive. After 2 weeks I began either calling them or chatting online. Each time I was told the replacement machine was on its way. I continued to reach out to them as I now had no vac other than a small dirt devil, each time I was told that yes, they had the information, and the new machine would be sent.

After 5 weeks I was told I would receive a tracking number in my email. I never got that but a week later I did receive the new machine. I decided to remove the dust canister and try it a few times before removing the machine from the box. It was the same way, sometimes it would catch others it would not. I sent a request in the next day for a refund since this is obviously a design issue. I got an email back telling me the refund was not possible because 30 days had passed. Yes it had because I had waited over 6 weeks for them to send it. So I called them directly.

After being on the phone with a rep for over 45 mins and him telling me all he could do was send me another replacement, I asked to speak to a supervisor. Little good that did she also told me since the 30 days had passed they would not refund my money. She said the 30 days had passed with the original machine but nothing was said at the time when I first contacted them that there was an issue. I bought the machine directly from Dyson since I believed I would get better service from them. I should have bought it from Amazon, at least then I would not be out $200.00 and have a machine that doesn't work the way it should. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM.

I returned a Dyson product that was ordered through the Dyson website on 1-31-2024 and delivered on 2-10-2025. They did not use Fedex but one of their other providers GLS. There is no tracking information. No indication they have the package and GLS customer service is unresponsive. The item showed up at my door because it was thrown at the door which damaged the unit. So I have returned it. It talks up to 15 days to process a return that they receive. Customer service is of no help. If you want a Dyson product you are better going through Amazon. How can a major company contract with a third rate carrier and how can they take so long to process a return.

First by contracting with GLS that caused the damage to the machine they are liable as a company. You can’t choose on the site who ships the product. Secondarily if the return is issued any later than off to small claims court we go which will include all losses. Yes it’s making a point that your business and reputation rely on who you-Dyson do business with as a company. It also should not take so long to process a return. You may be saving money but at what cost? In for a penny and out for a pound.

I have been buying Dyson vacuums for many years. They are more expensive but I was always happy with their performance and figured it was worth the expense. That is, until this latest purchase. I bought the new submarine vacuum which is a machine that can clean floors with a vacuum head as well as a mop head. The package comes with multiple heads - one for carpets and general floors, one with a fluorescent light that shows you the dirt as you vacuum it (for hard surfaces only) and the submarine mop head. I used the multifunction head the most as we have large area rugs over our hardwood floors.

After only two months of use this multifunction head broke - one of the guide wheels broke off. It literally just fell off while I was vacuuming. I contacted customer service who said they would replace the head, which I was fine with. The initial customer service agent said I would receive an email within the next week when the new part had shipped. I never received the email and this kicked off my months long back and forth with multiple customer service personal (who all have been equally unhelpful). The reason I did not receive the replacement head was because there were no replacement heads being manufactured.

I waited months to see if this was going to change but it never did. So then, my only other option was going to be to send the entire vacuum cleaner back to Dyson (with all the parts). They said they would process this return and would send me a replacement unit, probably within a months time! Absolutely ridiculous. So the only solution to their poor engineering (eventually the second guide wheel fell off as well) was for me to buy a second vacuum so that I could send the first vacuum back to them, wait a month and receive a replacement that, I was specifically told, only carries the warranty of the first machine. They are ensuring you can't keep returning their poorly built, overly expensive machines. DO NOT BUY DYSON, it's not worth it. In fact, I bought a Roborock robot vacuum to replace it and I am much happier with it.
