    We purchased a new home and did a bunch of research on the best security system during the construction phase of the home. My husband spent over two hours talking to the salesman, Allen, who assured him they could cover the house and the detached garage with one unit including cameras. Allen shared where we should add additional outlets in the eaves to support the cameras, we paid extra to install them. When the technician arrived he shared that what Allen, told us, would not in fact work. He said not only could they not use the outlets we added, but that the system installed in the home would not work for the garage. He called out his supervisor to come out and check what he said was true.

    They then told us because it wasn’t what we wanted and we weren’t sure we were going to continue with the install, that they would extend the 3 day trial to a 30 day trial. So we decided to give it a try then decide if we wanted to add another system for the garage or cancel. During the trial the system kept disconnecting and lost our ability to enter the door through the keyless entry.

    My husband spend 3 hours on the phone with tech support, they were able to temporarily fix the system and said it needed to reset and he would call back in two hours. He never called, the system didn’t reset. When we called back and shared what was happening there were not notes about the call. So we went back through the whole thing again and they ended up sending out another technician who confirmed the system will not work the same way that Allen described. My husband shared that the technician who came out first said he would extend the trial and because it wasn’t working the way we wanted we weren’t sure going to cancel. He called customer support for us and we spent over two hours on the phone with them. The customer service said that technicians can’t supersede the salesman and offer a cancellation extension, we obviously had no way of knowing this.

    The technician was very helpful and apologetic for the customer service department. The customer service person said they would call Allen and see if he would extend the contract and it would take 24-48 hours to contact him and they would call us back. They still didn’t call us back. He we sit tonight after another customer service call where we spoke to a girl who kept saying the same thing over again and wouldn’t listen to my husband and also, unconcerned that the technician was the one who extended the time. They are now going to send another technician out to try and fix the issue. This has been the single worst experience, I would never suggest this company to anyone. I would say avoid at all costs.

    Have had Vivint for almost 10 years but no longer own the home and have moved out. Completed the initial 5 year commitment in 2022. The outdoor camera, smoke detector, and original backup no longer work. Tried to cancel but have been given the run around. Online chat sent me to an 800 number with long hold times and multiple transfers. After 45 minutes and 4 different people I still do not know if the service is cancelled - I finally just put in a fake payment method because nobody will confirm. They kept wanting to send a tech out to fix the items that are broken (in a home I no longer own or live in).

    PLEASE DO NOT USE VIVINT. Vivint’s billing is about as unethical as you can imagine. I called to cancel maybe 6 months back, their “loyalty department” offered me a free technician visit and a discounted monthly rate, I reluctantly agreed. Well after more equipment malfunctions I decided to cancel for good. Again I was on the phone with their “loyalty department” and they told me I agreed to a multi year contract over the phone and I would have to pay a $900 cancellation fee. None of this was discussed, I was simply offered a discount, please save yourself, do not use Vivint.

    We recently had Vivint install our home security system and the experience was smooth from start to finish. The sales rep was knowledgeable without being pushy, and the installation technician took the time to explain how everything works and made sure we felt comfortable using the app before leaving. The equipment looks clean, video quality is great, and the system has been reliable so far. We especially love being able to monitor everything from our phones and receive instant alerts. Overall, great customer service and a seamless setup process. Highly recommend!

    If your products are good, you wouldn't need door to door sales people harassing us to buy your junk. Your door to door sales are a nuisance to the community. People knocking on my door doesn't make me want to buy your stuff I can buy on Amazon for better prices. Stop being a nuisance.

    If I could give negative stars I would. All we have ever had is a doorbell cam. One day they decided on their own to add an alarm system. So when I open my front door it goes off requiring me to enter a code, ummmm there is no code because we never ordered this service but they still called the police. My husband spent an hour and a half canceling our service and then it happened again and the cops were called again. So if this is the type of service you desire go ahead and sign up now. I'm done with this bunch.

    A quick inquiry turned into a new customer. Thanks Clarence for the excellent service and for going above and beyond. He set me up in a single afternoon without an appointment, in about an hour!     I recently cancelled my service with Vivint with 6–7 months remaining on my (5 year) contract and was charged an early termination fee of $419.88. During my time as a Vivint customer, I experienced repeated equipment issues and system reliability concerns that required troubleshooting with no resolve. Despite raising those concerns, there was no flexibility offered when I requested cancellation. I’ve since switched to ADT and chose a plan that does not require a long-term contract or significant investment for equipment. I chose to walk away from the $5K in Vivint equipment I purchased. My monthly monitoring cost is significantly lower, and so far the system has been more reliable with great functionality on the app. I would strongly encourage anyone considering a long-term security agreement to carefully review the early termination clause and compare pricing, reliability, and contract terms before committing.

    I've been trying to cancel this service for 2 months. I've done it in writing verbally and they still are trying to charge my account. When I needed the service it failed. There was someone outside my house one night and the security cameras did not Capture One thing. When I called the rep said I needed to buy a new camera. So I'm still trying to cancel this service I've done everything they said and they're still trying to charge my card.

    Just got the smart home security system installed yesterday. So far, really like the system and all the features it has to offer. My only complaint would be the time window for installation. The technician was later than our installation window, but had good communication and once he arrived, things went smoothly and he was very helpful.

    Was very hesitant to call to speak to someone about products and pricing, because they always want to sell more and are very pushy. This was the total opposite interaction. I can't remember the name of who I spoke to, but he was the best. He didn't try to oversell, when I said no to a product or service he listened and didn't try to convince me otherwise. What started as a fact finding phone call turned into me ordering the products and setting up an install appointment. Could not be more happier with the product.

    At this point if I could leave 0 stars I would! I have had nothing but issues with this company! From the financing to having my service interrupted to hanging up on me constantly and not getting any resolution!! I did exactly what I was asked to do but they do nothing they say they will do.     The installer was very helpful and polite. He went over our needs as the first step to listen and advise with suggestions. He installed the latest and best alarm, door camera, etc. Once installation was complete he went over the entire system with my wife and I and instructed us exactly how to use all the features the system is capable of doing. The doorbell camera was a Godsend and the system itself is very easy to learn, even to “young folks” like us. Safety and piece of mind are important to us.

    To anyone else who is thinking about getting a home security system I would recommend Vivint because they are the best. First the technician that was scheduled to set up my system called in sick so a different technician called me to let us know that he was taking the other employee place and that he was en route to my apartment so that to me was very courteous of him. When he arrived he explained everything to me and my wife step-by-step, installed my security system, showed us how it works. Believe me when I say he was very professional and polite.     Although the features are all great, it is deemed useless when the app on the app is not working, can't view your cameras or talk to someone at the front door.

    I have done everything suggested with people having the same issues, not to mention a total inconvenience to delete the app and reinstall the app. Reset router.... Absolutely disappointed.

    CJ was great. He came in and got everything setup. It took a couple hours but it works and I am so happy. I purchased my house with old ADT equipment and it just wasn't giving me what I needed. I am thankful for the great service beginning to end. Gregg explained everything over the phone and set me up for success. Only downside is that since I had a doorbell and thermostat through Reliant I was unable to get my friend the referral reward. While that was more disappointing because it would help her a lot I can't say that I dislike anything from my experience and this switch/upgrade.

    From the start when I called sales to the installation, customer service was at the fore front! The sales rep, Garrett, made asking question very simple. He was very informative throughout the process and understood this is a big purchase and there was no pressure that I had to buy right then and there. He knew that I would need to ask my wife to make sure we got the system we needed. Jacob came to install the whole system. He took his time to go through everything I ordered and provided some additional recommendations which I didn't know was an offer. He was very professional and nice throughout the whole installation process making sure everything was perfect to our liking. He also told me that if we ever move, they will come and uninstall and reinstall the system in our new home. This is the level of customer service that everyone should operate at!

    Not a great first time experience at all. I like the products and the security that it brings. However, all products were installed but the smoke detector and the holes make in my walls were not covered so that small insects will not be able to crawl in. I called customer service sole with them then spoke to a supervisor George who was mild toned to the situation. Didn’t care that I have to take out additional time away from work to wait for someone to complete the repair and bring a smoke detector after the installation date. You have three days to test all equipment out and cancel. Well I will be passed those three days. George stated he would call me the next day with an earlier appointment. Well when he called me today I was at work and he left a message to just call customer service for any help. Not helpful at all. I expected more but received less.

    I had Vivint for 3 years. I spent $4000 just to pay off three cameras. Most of the time the cameras didn't even work and so I'd call Vivint people to fix it and pay for that service and then it would stop working again. Also initial install wasn't properly done and every time someone came they were fixing things the other one missed. This year I got tired of it and decided to cancel my contract. Besides spending almost $850 to cancel my contract they gave me the run around for almost an hour. I finally got frustrated and when I blew up is when they finally got around to patching me through to the actual person who would do the transaction. Guess my patience lasts for 1 hour. So frustrating. VERY expensive mistake.

    I chose Vivint because 1, I have had it before, and 2, because of the security they deliver. I don't have to worry about my safety in the middle of the night, I don't have to worry about my packages getting stolen, and I don't have to worry about my house getting robbed when I'm not home. They installed door sensors so I know when someone enters my home, window sensors if someone breaks my windows, a carbon monoxide/smoke detector with 24/7 monitoring so if there's is a fire or carbon monoxide detected, the company calls the police for you., and a doorbell camera that alerts anyone that walks up to my door that they are being recorded. I couldn't feel any safer.

    The salesman told us many things that just wasn’t true. He said our Ring cameras would integrate with theirs, our thermostat would integrate, our door sensors would integrate and our myQ garage door would integrate. The only thing that would integrate was the myQ garage doors. Of course we didn’t know this until the tech came right after the salesman to install. Then you find out nothing you were told was actually facts. Long story short 15 hours later we call Vivint to cancel as we were told we had a week to do this. We kept getting transferred to different departments and the third guy just hung up on us. We called back and went through 2 more people then the last guy kept trying to sell us their cameras and thermostats discounted to keep our business.

    We continued to tell him no and to cancel this service and he would put us on hold and come back with a better price on their products. This went on 3 different times. Then he says their tech who took our old system out will not put it back in. He will only come back and take theirs out. This has been a horrible 15 hours. STAY AWAY FAR AWAY FROM VIVINT. NOT AN HONEST COMPANY. Very high pressured sales and doesn’t do what they say. Very expensive too.

    I have been a Vivint customer for 10 years and decided- since we are fans of the equipment and service- to use them for an upcoming move to a new home. The setup process for my new move could not have been any MORE complicated. I spent hours on the phone with customer service, countless pricing issues where each time I was sent paperwork to sign there was an error. Day of installation, the install tech- Chad was great and so knowledgeable. But we again had to spend probably 3 hours on the phone with issues with Vivint. I almost walked away from the entire deal. I would not use them again.

    Our Salesperson (Saxon) charged us $4500 dollars for our security equipment and monitoring services. Saxon never gave us a breakdown of how much each item cost. I didn't know until I requested a breakdown of the cost of system. When I expressed my concerns over the total cost of equipment which I'm locked in for five years, I felt mislead by the salesperson. My spouse told Saxon he wasn't happy with the service or the cost of equipment. Saxon told him to wait a week and if we did like the system or the installation issues were not resolved, he would be back to collect the equipment and remount our old equipment.

    The security equipment was installed Dec 12, 2025. Several issues occurred with the installation:

    The equipment has not properly functioned for two months. call customer service to get the issues resolved. In frustration, my spouse told Saxon he was not happy with the installation, and location of cameras and workmanship and that he was on the verge of wanting the equipment removed. In an effort to appease us, the salesperson (Saxon) told me that he would give us 4 months for free, meaning (I did not have to pay the $75.00 dollars for 4 months).

    To get more of a concrete commitment and understanding of how the monthly bill would be paid, I emailed Saxon inquiring about how he was going to cover the payments for four months...crickets. He ghosted me. If I don't make my payments, my credit will be impacted. Before the loan. my credit score was 834. after the loan, my credit score went down to 827.

    Unaddressed issues:

    1. The techs mounted the cameras in the wrong location. When we told the technician that the cameras were in the wrong location, the tech stated he wasn't allowed to move the cameras because they weren't Vivint's equipment. So, he mounted the new cameras in another location. Our salesperson Saxon keep insisting the technicians can put the cameras where we wanted them. The technician stated the salespeople doesn't know what or how we do our jobs.

    2. Wires were all over the attic floor.

    3. One outlet installed to accommodate four power outlets which is very concerning to us, potential fire hazard maybe? We had to have an electrician come in and install an additional electrical outlet.

    4. The driveway camera lights turned on and stayed on all night then turn off intermittently on their own. Vivint sent out two more techs, the problem was not resolved. Finally, the fourth tech replaced the entire camera and light unit. As of 2/12/2026, the new camera lights come and go every three minutes.

    Needless to say, we are not pleased. We feel we paid way too much for the security equipment. We told Saxon we did not want to be locked in 5-year contract. In five years, I will be 77 years old. I told Saxon this. After reviewing the loan and service agreement, we found out that we are on the hook for five years anyways. I will let everyone I come in to contact with not to deal with Vivint salespeople. They are shady and not honest. The equipment is of poor quality, and the techs are poorly trained. We are a retired couple, and we feel taken advantage of. Shame on us.

So when you don't provide a service, how come you don't retrograde people's pay. I shouldn't have to pay for a full day's worth of service. When you guys turned off at eight and didn't turn back on until when you're not still on right now, I'm just tired of your s**** service and spotty reception. It doesn't work the way it should.     Tech came by to set up a Vivint system and now my garage door will not work, I can barely get custom service on the phone, the supervisor told me the tech didn’t do what I saw him do, the tech is dragging his feet getting back to my home to correct the mistake and customer service wants to set an appointment days out. So I’m just stuck at home with both vehicles trapped in my garage. It’s a Sunday so I can’t even cancel. They have no emergency response team to handle matters like this one on a Sunday.     I have been a loyal Vivint Security user since August 2017, but this last month left a bitter taste in my mouth. I had a new smart panel, a CO2/Smoke alarm, and a Doorbell Pro installed. Originally, in December 25, I had attempted to purchase the Smart Hub and Doorbell Pro at a discounted bundled price but kept getting glitches stopping my purchase but sent installers at 2 different times which resulted in Fortiva (Financing Company) denying my request. Finally I contacted Vivint and was sent to a call center overseas. Not only do they talk fast, they use an English name and are incapable of solving my problem. After numerous calls resulting in the same results, an agent found my initial discounted purchase request. She was unable to initiate a new purchase at that amount, but gave me the number to the loyalty agent who I called.

    I explained everything to him again and we seemed to be getting somewhere. He rattled through a number of things and got my credit approved and set up an install. Everything ran smooth on the install and then when I went to my Fortiva Web page, the amount I was charged was "WAY" over what the price of the items I initially wanted back in Dec 25. Once again, back to the overseas agents and more frustrations. The technique to get you off the phone is "they will call you back before the end of their shift with an answer." Don't hold your breath waiting. This happened twice with the only thing I was told was the amount I was initially charged would be reduced substantially, whatever that meant. I am truthfully considering having them uninstall everything and rely on a dog for protection.

    Easy Transaction and helpful technician with amazing people skills. The only complaint I would have is from the customer service and from the office. They need to reply faster and have better communication with their techs. Due to some office mistakes, the tech and I met some drawbacks during installation. Also some equipment were faulty out of the box but luckily the tech had extras to complete the installation process. Vivint tech Henry was amazing and went above and beyond to make sure the job was done. Because of him I decided to stay with Vivint and I hope everyone from Vivint follows his example in work ethic and vision. I love the system, easy to use on both phone and Hub at home or away.     Vivint has the oldest tech ever and is happy to stick you with that equipment even when they have better equipment. Their “monitoring” is a lie and doesn’t work. For the past 4 months my panel is dark and nothing will make it work. They don’t have any customer loyalty and while all of this is bad… imagine how I felt when a rep told me the reason I wasn’t receiving monitoring calls or my emergency contacts weren’t is that their call service can’t call certain cell companies. Also - cancelling is the worst experience I’ve ever had with a customer. Hung up on multiple times. Told it has to be written and when verbal they charge an extra month and there is zero escalation for these people in an out of country call center to make any decisions. Also the phone service to their out of country support is also fraught with disconnections. DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE OF TRUSTING VIVINT.

    I do not recommend this company. The customer service was great until I got the system installed. The camera quality is not nearly as good as it should be. I called to see what I could do to get it fixed. They don't have a technician in my area who can service the equipment and keep giving me Saturday options between 4-8pm. They sell you the system then any issue you have goes to a call center in India.

    I had my Vivint system activated yesterday and scheduled a 4:30 PM appointment for someone to walk me through the setup. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The rep assigned to my case, Alex, handled most of the setup through text, which I didn’t prefer for a brand-new system. When he did call, everything felt rushed, and he couldn’t clearly explain what several features meant. When I asked questions, he told me he didn’t know and suggested I call tech support.

    I was told how to use “Stay” and “Away” mode. I left my home, set the system to “Away” as instructed, and when I returned, the alarm went off and police were dispatched. This happened less than two hours after activation. Customer service was kind and responsive when I called back, and I do appreciate how quickly Vivint contacted the police. However, the situation was stressful and could have been avoided with better onboarding and clearer instructions. I wish I had been properly informed from the start.

    Brandon was hands down one of the best technicians I have worked with. He went well beyond the scope of a standard install and made sure everything was done right, not just fast. On top of setting up the system, he took the extra time to rekey and move locks so I would not have to rely on the old keys from the previous owners.     One of my pieces of equipment didn’t work, the garage door opener. I immediately reach out to my sales rep and received no response. I then called customer service and was eventually out to fix the product by replacing it. The tech installed the new equipment and it worked worse than the first one. Went back and forth with customer service and didn’t receive any help with getting the product they sold me to work. On top of that they doubled the agreed upon cost of their services and when I continued to try and get my garage door to work (a service I was paying for) they wanted to upsell me in a $29/month protection plan so that they could come out and fix my garage door opener.

    After all the headaches, I had to fight with them to cancel the service. They then stated that I owed them $106, which was not on any of my bills. But they then said that was the price of the replacement garage door opener that they sent out, that never even worked. So once again, I had to argue with them. They want to pay for a product that was to replace their broken product? And that replacement didn’t work either. Instead of their tech taking the product back with him I now had to ship the product back to them or pay $106. I had to laugh, it was the most ridiculous experience I’ve lived through. Buyers beware, it is a scam.

    J ** is an amazing person to have as a representative. He went over all the details with how ViVint works and what is included. He also found the best rate for me that I could afford for my budget. There were so many options and I am please to have security and cameras to make me as well as my family feel safe. I would recommend him to anyone. He is very knowledgeable about the company. Tanner our tech guy who came and installed our system and cameras was nice! He went over every detail and he listened to mine and my husbands needs and wants. He showed me how to work the system and the app! He was very punctual. He gave me a time that he would be here and he showed up at that time.

    Amazing service! Brian came and explained everything and more about the equipment. Overall amazing customer service thanks to Brian. He made me feel like I didn't have to worry about anything other than asking me where I want cameras put and his recommendations. He installed 2 cameras, a doorbell, motion sensor, window sensors and more! Could not recommend him enough.

    I have been a customer for three years now and had nothing but complications from the cameras buffering when trying to look at important footage. When calling customer service they take you through every unnecessary steps instead of addressing the issues..I am considering going to another security company..

    Friendly from the first call to the installer. They take the extra time to make sure I and my father understood the costs, set up, how to use the app, etc. The installer added and subtracted things that were needed or not needed.
