Should have done my research, if we had we would not have made this purchase. We were told if we didn’t want our system monitored all we had to do is make one phone call, not true at all. We called three times and each time talked to a person whose English was so poor we could not understand most of what they said. They also were reading from a script as each said the exact same thing and kept repeating. Each refused to cancel monitoring our system, transfer us to a supervisor or give their name. After telling the third we would cancel our purchase and have our credit card bank cancel payment we were placed on hold for several minutes. We were then told monitoring was canceled but she would not provide proof with a email. We are considering canceling the entire purchase which probably be next to impossible based on our experiences so far. We hope our review helps someone considering Vivint.

Overpriced. Poor installation. Salesman, Jordan was charming. But, I probably should have asked more detailed questions. How can the hardware be priced $4,000? A comparable system from Best Buy is under $500. I'm a bit mystified on what extra value I'm receiving.

Nick ** was so patient helping me unfreeze my credit report, helping me find equipment that suited my needs and finally helping me contact Fortiva for financing. Jeremy showed up on time for installation and explained everything in a way I understood before he left. Immediately after install nick came by again to make sure I was satisfied. BIGGEST SCAM!!! This has been one of the most dishonest and frustrating experiences I’ve dealt with. The sales rep who came to my home made promises he clearly had no authority to make—specifically that my ADT contract would be bought out and that my monthly rate would be $25. I was also told I wouldn’t need any equipment since I already had cameras.
None of that turned out to be true. A year later, I’m being told the buyout gift card was “emailed” and conveniently “expired,” so now they claim there’s nothing they can do. That’s not a resolution—that’s an excuse. Meanwhile, I’ve been charged $60 a month this entire time without any transparency. Even after providing screenshots and proof of what was promised, they’ve refused to honor any part of the agreement. It’s clear this company relies on misleading sales tactics and then avoids responsibility once you’re locked in. I will be canceling immediately. If you’re considering this company, don’t—unless you’re okay with being told one thing and billed for another.

It seems fine initially, but it’s extremely pricey for what you get. Their equipment isn’t any better than Ring but it is a whole lot more expensive with long contract terms. Their equipment breaks down over time and you’re only option is the pay to have a professional installer come out and service or replace it. I would not recommend using Vivint!

We had a most wonderful experience with Vivint yesterday. We had been thinking about setting up security cameras for a while now and weren’t sure which company to go with. It just so happened that Derreck and his crew from Vivint, were in our neighborhood offering an amazing special. Their offer was too good to pass up, plus I really liked how he explained everything. Later that night he had a tech come out and install our cameras. Really fast service. The cameras are also such good quality and the keypad is very user friendly. Thanks again guys!

I wouldn’t recommend this company. I cancel my service with them to go with another company since October and unfortunately they are still charging me. I’ve had to call like six times and they still can’t promise what they’re telling me they’re going to do. They transferred you to different supposedly supervisors and then they transfer you to other departments. They owe me over 200 and something dollars and I still can’t get my credit to my account and they are telling me they have to review calls. Yesterday they promised me they would call me back before 4:30 our time and yet no call back from this gentleman. This is the most unprofessional company that I’ve ever dealt with.

I would leave zero but not an option. It took 3 months to get a service tech out to repair my system. I called 3 times, sent 4 emails, each call involves being on the phone well over 40 minutes. And still, they WOULD NOT SEND A TECH, and the kicker is..I pay EXTRA for that. So no cameras since Jan 16, 2026. Today is April 14th 2026, AND FINALLY, VIVINT IS SENDING REPAIR, on top of paying for service and not having it, I also have to miss work to wait for a tech. So much for being a valued customer...

When I first contacted Vivint they were too pricey as far as the down payment and monthly rate. So I decided not to go with them, Representatives called still trying to get my business, again I said no. A few days later I guess they were doing a "promotion" in the area and the supervisor tells me I didn't have to put nothing down, I was fine with that and my monthly payments was affordable. So I decided to do it. They installed the cameras and ring camera. However it took the installer several hours to come and install. I understood he was extremely busy and still had another install after me. It was already after 9:00p.m. Other than all of that I'm satisfied with the installation.

I had a very great experience with Vivint Ryan ** hey great customer experience. He was very courteous and very respectful of my home as well. He was very detailed in connecting everything and he was very understandable to having a better home security system. On top of that I have pets so he was very courteous and respectful of the pets that were in the home as well. There was nothing that I can leave out. It was a great install all the way around. Haven't used the system for over a year, been trying to cancel it, when I thought the contract, that I had, was done, but, they said I had a few more months... so I decided to wait, and now, been jumping thru hoops to cancel it, and been trying to cancel it for over an hour.... got hung up once.... and still trying to keep me as a customer, and told them, I AM DEAD SET ON CANCELING, AND still keeps trying, then transferring me AGAIN, and Again... WTF? DONE DONE...

Do not trust this company with your security. Aside from the constant frustration with the equipment and the app, there are some serious ethics concerns with this company. One of their sales reps came to my house to sleep with my wife and was complicit in her unplugging the security panel in the hopes that I wouldn't see her sneak him into the house for three and a half hours. I reported him to their ethics department, and they've done nothing since it was reported on Mar 22, 2026, it's now Apr 8th.

I paid too much for the monitoring equipment that I rarely used. After 6 years I tried to just cancel my service and was told I was locked into an additional 3 years for agreeing to get 3 months free, which I never did agree to and they never could prove that I did. Still had me pay for the 3 months in order to cancel my service. Terrible customer service!!!

I was in a high risk situation - older woman living alone in a two-story condo with a broken sliding glass door. I called Vivint at 10:00 a.m. and by 4:00 p.m. Vivint installer Mark was at my door and installed my security system. My experience with Vivint from start to finish was outstanding starting with John the first line of contact to the installer Mark. I'm not tech savvy. However, the Vivint home security system with cameras and ring doorbell is easy to use, very user friendly. Something that even I can handle. I highly recommend Vivint security for their business ethic and compassionate service.

I rarely leave reviews, but this experience was frustrating enough that I feel others should know what to expect. I recently had Vivint uninstall my system, and the condition they left my home in was completely unacceptable. They removed equipment but left exposed wiring coming through an exterior wall, along with a hole that now goes directly from the outside into my home, a clear security and weather risk.
To make matters worse, the technician did not patch or repair any of the holes, despite explicitly telling me he would. This directly contradicts what I was told during the sales process, where I was assured: “We’ll move everything to your new place and it will look like we were never there.” That was far from the reality. Additionally, when Vivint removed my door lock previously, the parts were placed in a box but were incomplete, making it unusable. During the uninstall, they also left the security door lock in place, creating more confusion and incomplete work.
When I reached out to customer service, the best resolution offered was a $15 credit, which frankly doesn’t come close to addressing the cost or inconvenience of repairing the damage left behind. Overall, this felt like a lack of accountability from start to finish. The install experience may be smooth, but based on my experience, the uninstall process and follow-through are not something Vivint seems to stand behind. I would not recommend Vivint based on this experience.

Misleading on charges. When things go wrong with their equipment I had to pay them $100 to come out to repair at that time. I wanna have the system for two months. And if you disagree with the charges, they were go in your bank account and take it anyway.

We are very pleased with Vivint. We originally had SimpliSafe before and we were not happy with how their system worked. Vivint blows them out of the water. We love the touchpad control panel and all of the options that Vivint provides. We like the fact that you can turn on “deter” and a spotlight can follow the person trespassing on your property and send an alert tone. There’s so many cool features. The installation was easy and stress-free.

I have their security system for my home but I also have a ring doorbell. I am harassed every 6 months by Vivint about my security system. People asking me why I have a ring doorbell and Vivint. I told them it's none of their business. Who the hell are you to come up to someone's house and ask them about their security system and to stop bothering me. I had to file a police report and cannot cancel my service with them due to their 5-year contract.

During installation, the technician drilled cables through my exterior walls without informing me beforehand. I was told the system was wireless. Had I known drilling would be required, I would have had the opportunity to ask questions and make an informed decision. After the installation was complete, the crew left without cleaning up. There was sawdust on my carpet and paint scratches where the wiring was run. I gave the company the benefit of the doubt at the time and did not pursue the matter, thinking perhaps I should have asked more questions upfront. I now realize that is not on me.
Fast forward to today. One of my cameras has stopped working. I went through phone troubleshooting twice and the issue was not resolved. Vivint's response was to offer a technician visit for a $99 copay. I pay a monthly service fee for a system that is not working, and the company wants to charge me an additional $99 to fix their own faulty equipment. To add insult to injury, the customer service representative used the service call as an opportunity to upsell me on a $9.99 per month protection plan to avoid the very fee they were threatening to charge me. This is not how a company with integrity treats its customers. I would strongly caution anyone considering Vivint to read the fine print carefully, ask every question you can think of before installation, and document everything. I wish I had.

Ultimately, my Vivint experience turned out great. Getting there was painful. The 1st installation technician showed up at my door at the appointment time, we said good morning, then he just drove off without saying anything else. I was confused and dumbfounded. He then reported to the company that I refused installation. 5 days later, several phone calls, and a need to re-contract and reschedule, the installation was completed. The 2nd technician was wonderful. Absolutely no problems. Because of him. I'm a happy customer, finally!!

The company is fine as long as everything is working, but when you need repairs, get ready to be without your system for a month or two. The representative told us they do not have enough service people to service the area they sell to. They are very strong to constantly call you to upgrade and purchase more, but it seems to be a problem when you just won’t the equipment you have to work properly. We are currently waiting one month without service to get our equipment repaired by a certified technician that we pay a month monthly fee for. I highly suggest you buy from another company.

I have had them for almost 3 years and am moving from my current location. I do not want their service anymore. I do not feel that there is any benefit of their so called "home monitoring" to justify a $60.69 monthly monitoring fee. After 55 minutes and 5 different individuals I was told that I would have to pay them $1959.23 to stop my contract. There is no benefit for having this company and strongly recommend not getting sucked into their extreme price of equipment and monthly fees. I would strongly recommend not doing business with this company.

Vivint has rightly earned their horrible reputation for customer service, pressure sale tactics and incompetent employees. The billing department is despicable and employs harassment techniques on a regular basis. NEVER agree to direct bill. DO NOT ever give them a credit card to automatically charge. Every billing cycle your agreed upon monthly service fee changes. New unexplainable charges/fees are added on without warning or explanation. Within 24 hours of my billing cycle end date, Vivint begins calling you saying your account is overdue! YES, 24 hours. Good luck trying to resolve differences, the average employee in billing is foreign with very poor English and no ability to understand the issue.

Good company, great products, just wish they'd cut down on the upselling. I called about an issue and after assisting me, each person I was transferred to tried to get me to upgrade my doorbell. I'm not opposed to them asking because sometimes maybe there's a product I didn't know about, but they should have a flag on my account that keeps track of what they offered me and when, so that they don't do it too often.

I switched from ADT to Vivint after salesman that sold me ADT came back and suggested I go with Viiant. He was a pro and seemed to be honest. I noticed a difference in the quality of monitoring and cameras but it was cheaper, so! Then in 2023, I decided to move out of my home to another state so I called to cancel Vivint. They would NOT let me cancel and instead put me on a deferment for 12 months.
In July of 2024, I called again to cancel. I had to provide proof that I had paid off the equipment and pay an early termination fee of over $500. I did so and was assured the account was now canceled and I had nothing to worry about. Fast forward to a few months ago-- I received an email saying that I owed them $11. Ignored it, thinking it was a error on their part. A month later I received another email this time saying I owed $40. I immediately called and explained that the account had been closed, and that I do not owe them anything. The CSR looked at the account, agreed that it had been closed and said he would remove the charge. He even gave me a confirmation number.
A week ago I received a 3rd email, now saying I owed about $70. I called AGAIN and was told I had never canceled the account and would I like to transfer the account to the people now living in the home. I said no, I want to speak to someone that can understand that it had definitely been cancelled and remove any charges. I was transferred to 3 different people before I finally got to a woman that tried to get me to pay an early termination fee to cancel, in addition to the $70 bill. I spent 10 minutes explaining that I had already DONE THAT, before she said she saw on her computer that I had paid the termination fee in July of 2024. She admitted that it was the early termination fee & wiped out the bill but I still had to verbally or written cancel the account. I chose written for proof. Now I should be clear of them - but I'm keeping documentation in case they try to pull this crap again.

The system was good, but the customer service was awful. I tried to pay online, but the agent hung on me and said the line was too busy with complaints. I called the agent who sold me the system. He said it is what it is, too busy for customer complaints. I’m only 2 months in. Definitely not world class service. I spent two hours to make a simple payment. I called the manager sales rep for help. He hung up on me and said payments are done over the phone by AI. Wow, not the charming person who said call him anytime. So disappointed customer. Nightmare. Please stay clear!

I was impressed with the young man who came to my door to offer the doorbell camera, which I had been thinking about getting anyway. However, all I wanted was a doorbell camera but somehow I ended up with a package that cost me several thousands. I told the installer that I didn’t want all of the extra cameras around my house so he took away the equipment. I thought they would take that off of my bill but nothing changed. I have tried contacting Vivint with the business card ai had from the sales guy but there is no response. The doorbell camera works great but….DON'T LET THEM OVERSELL YOU!!!

A Vivint employee was walking our neighborhood. Next thing I know we are getting new cameras and alarm system. So far I am very pleased with the system. Easy to operate and understand. Our old system you had to enter a code to leave and enter. Vivint you don't have to enter codes as often. The young man that sold us the program was polite, understanding, and explained the what was involved. The young man who installed our system was fantastic. He didn't start till 6pm, said he'd be done in2-3 hrs. 4 hrs later, no food, no breaks, and still going strong. I felt so bad for him, told him to come back tomorrow. Wasn't happening. Two days later we have some questions. Our salesman stopped by on his way to another appointment. Still patiently answering our questions. Had to call Vivint, couldn't get app to work. They are in the process of fixing our problem. Three days now, so far very impressed with encounters of all employees!!
