    After dealing with a not so great camera company previously, this was a very welcomed change! Helpful salesman (Kyle) who talked us through all our options, and a very simple install experience! After install, the tech took the time to walk not only the adults, but our kids as well on how to use the equipment and assured us that if we have any other questions, that we could reach out whenever necessary! I also loved the fact that we are able to transfer our equipment when its our time to find our next home!

    Cruz did a good job of explaining the upgrade and benefits that we would get by upgrading. The installer that day was quite efficient in getting the cameras in place and programming the new system. Even helping us when we had an issue with our phone access.

    Their system is quite pricey and only adds a few bells and whistles like a fire sensor and glass break detection. The requirement for a 3rd party finance and installation by one of their technicians is also very inconvenient if you need to move. The technician also left a mess after the installation and the salesman failed to mention the 5 year contract. 5 years of finance is quite ridiculous for a security system. The system itself is equivalent to every other system out there so I don't see a reason to use this one.

    3 main takeaways from being a Vivint customer for many years:

    1. It is very pricey for what you get. Most other products on the market offer similar quality in terms of technology, monitoring, subscription costs, etc. You pay a premium and get a market average.
    2. It is virtually impossible to cancel. They make it so difficult to cancel that you have to spend literal hours on the phone, submit written requests, follow up multiple times, and threaten to take legal action in order to have your account cancelled, whether or not you have paid off all of your equipment and are out of your contractual obligations.

    3. Vivint is not getting better as time goes on, or more competitive in terms of pricing or technology. The few steps the had ahead of the competition years ago has slimmed to nothing. They are just an average offering in the climate of 2026. And they come at a super premium price tag.

    I would never recommend their service, technology, or company in general to anyone, least of all my friends. I would suggest literally anyone else.

    Brian our technician showed up early in our 4 hour installation window during inclement weather. He installed our system and thoroughly showed us how to utilise all its functions. He took his time and was never in a rush even when a couple of cameras did not operate correctly. Thank you Brian and the Vivint team. We are very happy with our security system.

    I had no problem with Vivint until I tried to cancel the service. Their system had been paid off in full ago, so they couldn't say I owed for the system. I was to close on my house 28 December 2025, they were notified that the closing was changed to 28 January 2026 and to cancel it on the 28th of January. I found out it was not canceled by my daughter who was going to use Vivint on her new home that my account was not closed and I had an overdue balance. I called several times today to have the bill corrected to no success. They are charging me double what I had been paying. As of this moment I will tell my daughter it is not advisable to use Vivint services. Also instead of removing a person name from the service, they were sending the bill to him for the service I had been paying for years to the old address. He doesn't live at that location either.

    I have two issues with Vivint. First and foremost, their cancellation policy is terrible. They kept me on the phone for an hour when I tried to cancel on 1/6/2026 and finally relented. Then they claim they sent an email for me to "confirm" I wanted to cancel. Here we are in March and they are still billing me. I can't find the email in Trash or Spam. Now they won't refund me the money. Canceling is very difficult. The other thing is, some of their "smart" technology just plain doesn't work. Their motion detector lights for outside are abysmal.

    Was a good initial price point. But, next day, after install, the price went up over $1k. The price changed 4-5 times between signing agreements and during the installation process. Ultimately lading on a $1k price increase at the end of install… The technician said he couldn’t leave until I agreed upon the price and install I said that I didn’t agree on the price, because it was $1k-1.3k higher than yesterday’s rep agreement. They made me agree to the higher price, promising it could be changed after I called customer relations.

    On top of that… Install was not professional. Drilled holes in doors and didn’t clean up wood shavings after themselves. Just left a mess Mounted the display /hub screen, drilled into drywall, didn’t clean up after themselves, drywall dust on the trim and floor. Left scraps of Cat5 wire outside close to work areas. Didn’t clean up thoroughly after themselves. Asked for an umbrella, weren’t prepared for the rain during install. Asked for a phone charger (not that big of deal, but after all the little things, it added up.) offered to put in an indoor camera, I was interested. They didn’t follow thru.

    Came at 4pm.. left after 10pm, so didn’t get a thorough, appropriate training on equipment. Felt rushed and tired at the end. Put 3 of my kids down for bed in their room, then was tending to baby in living room… tech went into my kids' room to do window contact (while they were going to bed)… without my permission. That was a little off putting. Especially when I asked him if he wants me to put the window contacts on in the kids room (since they were down for bed), he responded “oh, I just did.” That’s not appropriate to go into my kids bedroom without permission.

    Did not finish the job because he didn’t have enough wire to run the last camera. Which was already run, but a mistake was made (stapled the Cat5 wire) from what I understand. A tech will have to come out in a couple days to finish. I used to work in low voltage, home audio /video & security. I know how the job should be done. And feel I could have done a better job, or that the job could have been done better with more care and appropriately. The guys were nice, kind, helpful, even the lead tech helped me understand some things about my electrical in the house and explained everything really well. But in the end with the unethical/unexpected price increase and all the little messes and lack of finishing the job, it has left me frustrated.

    The technician arrived and was very professional and efficient with his setup. Instructions and guide on the system was concise and clear. I understood all of the features. However, the processing for paperwork encountered an error that took a very long time to resolve and was outside of either person present’s control, which wasted both the time of the technician and myself as both of us had to wait for the problem to be resolved. A better and faster way to resolve the issue that I encountered would have significantly improved my overall experience.

    The installation scheduling took some a few attempts after other cancellations and rescheduled appointments which were out of my control. The company did communicate frequently to confirm the appointments or when changes were necessary. I was lucky I hadn't taken the days off initially. Once the technician did arrive, the process was smooth and relatively easy to set up.

    I’m not satisfied with this alarm system & I don’t think I want to keep it, Benji I feel lied to me …the alarm system was told to me it was free with purchase. Said I was being given a free install & equipment, I had my power of attorney to read the contract. It’s almost 4,000 dollars. I don’t want this for 5 years paying this amount.

    The guy who came to install my service was exceptional. He was so sweet, he walked me through everything he was doing. He took time out to make sure I had a clear understanding of the system and he also waited for me to get myself together when he first arrived because I was asleep when he arrived.     I purchased a very expensive playback system with a higher monthly bill with access added. I had people squatting on my property. It was a big legal matter. I'm a senior and these two young people accused me of hitting this huge man that with my shoulders couldn't reach anyway. I was taken into custody. The police were a total fell. I tried to pull the playback up and it wouldn't respond so I could prove I was innocent. Police thought I'd erased it. I got out of jail, called Vivint and was on the phone for hours. I'm not familiar with tech stuff so they had me do some things and I told them I was worried about losing the clips I did have from person detected part of the camara and after hours that what happened. I said, "Well police can ask for it from you." They informed me that if it's not on my phone they can't pull it up because they pull it from my app.

    I was so upset because the days before and night I was in jail and they harassed my mentally challenged daughter the whole night. She was scared to call police that they would lie and say she did something and go to jail. So the whole 2 weeks we were held basically hostage in my home. We had nothing to show of them coming on porch banging on the door threatening. They said they would send a tech the next day. No show. Now a new supervisor wants to try and do it on the phone again before sending tech out finally she agreed but I had to pay a 99 dollar service fee. I told her she was crazy if with all the money I've paid for equipment that failed at a situation that people buy these systems so it's recorded and can be played back.

    I have never dealt with a company that takes thousands of dollars from you for a product to use and when it's needed most it fails then end up telling you how to fix it make the problem worse then want to charge you more to have someone come fix the failing equipment. Stay away. They are a company that doesn't back their equipment and when it fails wants a person knowing nothing about the equipment follow on phone directions then it make it worse then Pamela ** charge you to come fix broken equipment. Rip off. Don't stand behind their product.

    Fire alarm keeps going off a lot. I have asked for help multiple times. They did a software update that helped for a while.... Two false alarms this week. Fix my problem please. The install was great. The system and customer service has been way less than desirable.

    January 1, 2024, I was out of town, broke my arm. Alarm went off. Brother-in-law had to escort me in. Vivint did not tell me that I needed a license for the alarm. The police were call but would not respond. The alarm went off for no reason. Probably was not installed correctly.

    The sales guy was nice enough, but when I told him I wasn’t interested he wouldn’t leave (I guess that’s the sales part). I really wasn’t in a place financially to upgrade but I did anyway. The next day the installer came, but he left all the old equipment sitting on my kitchen counter. The battery was low on a sensor and kept dinging & so I text him right back &told him. He said he wouldn’t be able to get back till Sunday or Monday, but Then he told me that I should just go buy a new one, even though I’d paid for insurance. I was livid!! I didn't want to upgrade, and even when I did the service I got was subpar. The guy eventually came back (with a battery) and changed it, it took less than a minute. I wouldn’t have minded but since I paid for it I thought that it should be done by the company and not up to me to go buy some new batteries… Picture of old equipment that was left sitting in my kitchen after he left.

    Our experience with Vivint has been the absolute worst customer experience of my entire life. I don't even know where to begin. PLEASE don't sign up with Vivint. I don't usually take the time to write negative reviews, so the fact that I'm writing this means I just don't want anyone else to go through the same thing - truly. Their entire cancellation process is a SCAM.

    IF you do end up with a Vivint account and you try to cancel, do NOT agree to their "customer takeover plan" which is where you transfer services to a new homeowner - that ALSO is a scam. Vivint eventually (currently still) owed us a $434 refund for 7 months of service that we were paying for when we weren't even living at the property. We had moved out of state and were never notified that the 'takeover attempt' had failed.

    FINALLY after literally 8 months of endless phone calls that lasted a minimum of 45 minutes each time (they MAKE their calls last forever in hopes of you giving up), being transferred from one person to another, dropped calls, promised call-backs that never happened, promises that our account was canceled when it actually wasn't, etc. etc, they finally promised us our refund of $434. Guess what? It has YET to hit our bank account. They said give it 5-7 days. I gave it nearly a month.

    Called back; they are AGAIN saying they'll process the refund and now I'm supposed to call back in 48 hours if it hasn't been transferred to our bank account by then. I am praying I don't have to call again because I've wasted COUNTLESS HOURS of my life on the phone with these people, but I will not rest until that money has finally hit our bank account. I'm in disbelief that this drama still isn't over for us. Again - PLEASE do not sign up with this company. I promise you that you'll regret it.

    We live in a very nice neighborhood on Milwaukee’s East Side, and after spending about $10,000 per house—totaling around $20,000 across our previous and current homes on Vivint equipment, upgrades, and installations—I’m thoroughly disappointed. Vivint promises reliable security, but their system has failed us repeatedly, especially in situations where footage was critical. Do not choose Vivint—it’s been an expensive mistake with no real protection.

    The most recent example: On a rainy Friday night, disruptive out-of-town kids in a truck caused chaos—screaming, yelling, and it looked like they were trying to run someone over. It woke us and our neighbors. We and several neighbors called the police right away, but by the time officers were contacted, the group had already left, so no one came out. The police did ask if anyone had video footage to help identify or document what happened. We have expensive Vivint cameras (upgraded about a year ago for ~$2,000–$2,500 that time, with cameras around $500 each), which the technician assured us had built-in local recording to capture video even without internet. That promise didn’t hold up. We had zero video to share with the police. No clips, no evidence—nothing to assist their follow-up.

    Support the next morning? Over 2 hours wasted: deleting/reinstalling the app twice, rebuilding the system twice, unplugging the “Space Monkey” (which they claimed I didn’t have), and more frustration. These 1–3+ hour troubleshooting sessions happen every time something goes wrong. This is part of an ongoing, costly pattern:

    • At our previous house, installation damaged our beautiful front door, and cameras went offline constantly.
    • We upgraded equipment right before moving (part of that ~$10,000 per house total), not knowing we’d buy another home soon after.
    • In the current house, false alarms trigger randomly (even when disarming as we enter). Once while out of town, it went off; our pet sitter disarmed it—no Vivint response showed up—but they still tried charging us for a “dispatched” service we missed the text about during a concert.

    • Every suspicious or criminal incident nearby? No usable video because of recurring outages, internet dependencies, and unreliable features.

    Vivint pushes pricey upsells, overpromises offline/local recording (it still relies heavily on stable WiFi/internet despite what they claim), and delivers slow, aggravating support. The system looks good on paper, but in real life—especially with weather-related internet drops—it fails when you need it most, like when police ask for footage.

    One last thing they have nobody working in Wisconsin so it’s very hard to get a technician unless they’re installing new equipment to take your money! I’m reporting this to the Wisconsin Attorney General’s office. With ~$20,000 invested and zero peace of mind, avoid Vivint. There are much more dependable security options out there. Learn from our experience. 1-star rating.

    The Salesman (Alvaro) and the Technician (Ayden) was AWESOME. The Salesman made certain I knew what I was purchasing and how sufficient the equipment was. I WAS VERY SKEPTICAL about purchasing, especially when he had to run my credit. But his explanation was great. Technician, (Ayden), I simply explained my concerns of safety for my Grandsons when I am at work. He took the time to show me different angles before we agreed to place the camera.     The worst company to go through. The service is horrible. They will not help at all and when you cancel they will continue to try to charge you and won’t adjust the bill. Once the service is cancelled they also will call and call expecting you to pay a cancelled service. When I reached out they told me well there is no supervisors that work for our company so you're out of luck. They refused to answer my questions.

    As we were moving to a new address, we got quotes from three of the best reviewed alarm companies. Vivint was the mid-priced quote but offered far more than their rivals, so we chose Vivint. The sales rep was very knowledgeable, professional and helpful and helped us select a system that fully meets our needs. The installation engineer was also excellent.     Unfortunately l’m very dissatisfied already. The quality of the workmanship is subpar. I have gaping holes in my walls, and cables laying exposed on the floor, with large, gaudy transmitters plugged into the outlets. We should have never made the arrangement over the phone. He never transparently divulged the prices of the equipment, labor, taxes, and the monitoring fees. He didn’t make some adjustments to better suit our expectations. Not for $5000.00!!! I learned the sixty day grace period is a lie. The cancellation agreement is deceptive. So, at this juncture, I’m simply not happy with the everything. I would like your office to send the techs to remove your equipment. Reinstall what I had originally. Repair the holes in my walls. This needs to be done today or tomorrow.

    We purchased a new home and did a bunch of research on the best security system during the construction phase of the home. My husband spent over two hours talking to the salesman, Allen, who assured him they could cover the house and the detached garage with one unit including cameras. Allen shared where we should add additional outlets in the eaves to support the cameras, we paid extra to install them. When the technician arrived he shared that what Allen, told us, would not in fact work. He said not only could they not use the outlets we added, but that the system installed in the home would not work for the garage. He called out his supervisor to come out and check what he said was true.

    They then told us because it wasn’t what we wanted and we weren’t sure we were going to continue with the install, that they would extend the 3 day trial to a 30 day trial. So we decided to give it a try then decide if we wanted to add another system for the garage or cancel. During the trial the system kept disconnecting and lost our ability to enter the door through the keyless entry.

    My husband spend 3 hours on the phone with tech support, they were able to temporarily fix the system and said it needed to reset and he would call back in two hours. He never called, the system didn’t reset. When we called back and shared what was happening there were not notes about the call. So we went back through the whole thing again and they ended up sending out another technician who confirmed the system will not work the same way that Allen described. My husband shared that the technician who came out first said he would extend the trial and because it wasn’t working the way we wanted we weren’t sure going to cancel. He called customer support for us and we spent over two hours on the phone with them. The customer service said that technicians can’t supersede the salesman and offer a cancellation extension, we obviously had no way of knowing this.

    The technician was very helpful and apologetic for the customer service department. The customer service person said they would call Allen and see if he would extend the contract and it would take 24-48 hours to contact him and they would call us back. They still didn’t call us back. He we sit tonight after another customer service call where we spoke to a girl who kept saying the same thing over again and wouldn’t listen to my husband and also, unconcerned that the technician was the one who extended the time. They are now going to send another technician out to try and fix the issue. This has been the single worst experience, I would never suggest this company to anyone. I would say avoid at all costs.

    Have had Vivint for almost 10 years but no longer own the home and have moved out. Completed the initial 5 year commitment in 2022. The outdoor camera, smoke detector, and original backup no longer work. Tried to cancel but have been given the run around. Online chat sent me to an 800 number with long hold times and multiple transfers. After 45 minutes and 4 different people I still do not know if the service is cancelled - I finally just put in a fake payment method because nobody will confirm. They kept wanting to send a tech out to fix the items that are broken (in a home I no longer own or live in).

    PLEASE DO NOT USE VIVINT. Vivint’s billing is about as unethical as you can imagine. I called to cancel maybe 6 months back, their “loyalty department” offered me a free technician visit and a discounted monthly rate, I reluctantly agreed. Well after more equipment malfunctions I decided to cancel for good. Again I was on the phone with their “loyalty department” and they told me I agreed to a multi year contract over the phone and I would have to pay a $900 cancellation fee. None of this was discussed, I was simply offered a discount, please save yourself, do not use Vivint.

    We recently had Vivint install our home security system and the experience was smooth from start to finish. The sales rep was knowledgeable without being pushy, and the installation technician took the time to explain how everything works and made sure we felt comfortable using the app before leaving.     If I could give negative stars I would. All we have ever had is a doorbell cam. One day they decided on their own to add an alarm system. So when I open my front door it goes off requiring me to enter a code, ummmm there is no code because we never ordered this service but they still called the police. My husband spent an hour and a half canceling our service and then it happened again and the cops were called again. So if this is the type of service you desire go ahead and sign up now. I'm done with this bunch.

    I recently cancelled my service with Vivint with 6–7 months remaining on my (5 year) contract and was charged an early termination fee of $419.88. During my time as a Vivint customer, I experienced repeated equipment issues and system reliability concerns that required troubleshooting with no resolve. Despite raising those concerns, there was no flexibility offered when I requested cancellation. I’ve since switched to ADT and chose a plan that does not require a long-term contract or significant investment for equipment. I chose to walk away from the $5K in Vivint equipment I purchased. My monthly monitoring cost is significantly lower, and so far the system has been more reliable with great functionality on the app. I would strongly encourage anyone considering a long-term security agreement to carefully review the early termination clause and compare pricing, reliability, and contract terms before committing.

There was someone outside my house one night and the security cameras did not Capture One thing. When I called the rep said I needed to buy a new camera.     To anyone else who is thinking about getting a home security system I would recommend Vivint because they are the best. First the technician that was scheduled to set up my system called in sick so a different technician called me to let us know that he was taking the other employee place and that he was en route to my apartment so that to me was very courteous of him. When he arrived he explained everything to me and my wife step-by-step, installed my security system, showed us how it works. Believe me when I say he was very professional and polite.     CJ was great. He came in and got everything setup. It took a couple hours but it works and I am so happy. I purchased my house with old ADT equipment and it just wasn't giving me what I needed. I am thankful for the great service beginning to end. Gregg explained everything over the phone and set me up for success. Only downside is that since I had a doorbell and thermostat through Reliant I was unable to get my friend the referral reward. While that was more disappointing because it would help her a lot I can't say that I dislike anything from my experience and this switch/upgrade.

    From the start when I called sales to the installation, customer service was at the fore front! The sales rep, Garrett, made asking question very simple. He was very informative throughout the process and understood this is a big purchase and there was no pressure that I had to buy right then and there.     Not a great first time experience at all. I like the products and the security that it brings. However, all products were installed but the smoke detector and the holes make in my walls were not covered so that small insects will not be able to crawl in. I called customer service sole with them then spoke to a supervisor George who was mild toned to the situation. Didn’t care that I have to take out additional time away from work to wait for someone to complete the repair and bring a smoke detector after the installation date. You have three days to test all equipment out and cancel. Well I will be passed those three days. George stated he would call me the next day with an earlier appointment. Well when he called me today I was at work and he left a message to just call customer service for any help. Not helpful at all. I expected more but received less.

    I had Vivint for 3 years. I spent $4000 just to pay off three cameras. Most of the time the cameras didn't even work and so I'd call Vivint people to fix it and pay for that service and then it would stop working again. Also initial install wasn't properly done and every time someone came they were fixing things the other one missed. This year I got tired of it and decided to cancel my contract. Besides spending almost $850 to cancel my contract they gave me the run around for almost an hour. I finally got frustrated and when I blew up is when they finally got around to patching me through to the actual person who would do the transaction. Guess my patience lasts for 1 hour. So frustrating. VERY expensive mistake.

    I chose Vivint because 1, I have had it before, and 2, because of the security they deliver. I don't have to worry about my safety in the middle of the night, I don't have to worry about my packages getting stolen, and I don't have to worry about my house getting robbed when I'm not home. They installed door sensors so I know when someone enters my home, window sensors if someone breaks my windows, a carbon monoxide/smoke detector with 24/7 monitoring so if there's is a fire or carbon monoxide detected, the company calls the police for you., and a doorbell camera that alerts anyone that walks up to my door that they are being recorded. I couldn't feel any safer.

    The salesman told us many things that just wasn’t true. He said our Ring cameras would integrate with theirs, our thermostat would integrate, our door sensors would integrate and our myQ garage door would integrate. The only thing that would integrate was the myQ garage doors. Of course we didn’t know this until the tech came right after the salesman to install. Then you find out nothing you were told was actually facts. Long story short 15 hours later we call Vivint to cancel as we were told we had a week to do this. We kept getting transferred to different departments and the third guy just hung up on us. We called back and went through 2 more people then the last guy kept trying to sell us their cameras and thermostats discounted to keep our business.

    We continued to tell him no and to cancel this service and he would put us on hold and come back with a better price on their products. This went on 3 different times. Then he says their tech who took our old system out will not put it back in. He will only come back and take theirs out. This has been a horrible 15 hours. STAY AWAY FAR AWAY FROM VIVINT. NOT AN HONEST COMPANY. Very high pressured sales and doesn’t do what they say. Very expensive too.

    The tech was very friendly and explained everything up front. He worked with me when I had to move my dogs around so he could get where he needed to be. He helped me set up the app and system and walked me through using it.

    I had a great experience with the technician who installed my alarm system. He was extremely knowledgeable, professional, and took the time to explain everything clearly so I understood how the system works. He answered all of my questions with patience and made sure everything was set up perfectly before leaving. The installation was smooth, efficient, and done with attention to detail.     Everything went smoothly, installer/Technician came over to install equipment 02/17/26, the customer service was great on the phone and in person, the installation went great, no problems that I was aware of. No complaints here, we had a very good experience with the Vivint Team.

    Great customer service from the initial consultation and appointment setup. Experienced technicians.. Recommended best placements for your outdoor cameras, efficient, quick, and knowledgeable. I loved the no pressure experience. Definitely would recommend to friends and family.

    We had a great sales person who knew what he was selling and what we needed. Our installer was amazing. Made sure that equipment was put in the correct spots yet making sure it was discreetly placed. He took time to truly explain how to operate the equipment before leaving.
