American Standard would put in the tub in our trailer house, but the other people would not do it. When I first called about it, the price that I was quoted in the beginning did go up quite a bit when they finally came out and did it. It was just an increase in different parts of it, but it was the process. We got it in, and as far as the workmanship, it was done well and they did what they said. I had to get more explanation on how to adjust the jets because they were sticking. But once I figured that out, then it's all been working well. My wife enjoys being able to soak in a tub again.

American Standard did my hallway bathroom. I had a bath turned into a shower. They installed a walk-in tub. They had to cut the door and take that door out. They had a door with them. But all my doors were brown and they had a white door. They told me that they couldn't get a brown door. So, okay. Then they put the tub in for about five hours. When I thought there was a crack, the installer came back and put some putty on it and sanded it down. He told me that what he covered up was just a scratch.

I like the jets. They don’t beat on your muscles too bad. It makes it feel good and better. They told me I have to have a shower curtain. The water splashes that it scares me when I turn on the jets. But what scares me is it started hitting me on my back, and then it splashes out of the tub. I have to put my back all the way to the back, but I’m short so I have to push back and then turn them on, so that it doesn't splash out of the tub. Overall, it was a lot of money and I'm glad I bought it because I'm hoping that it'll help with my arthritis.

I did a knee replacement and couldn't get in the tub. I got quotes from three companies. The quality of the stuff that American Standard puts on the walls was probably best. The least quality was the Kohler, which surprised me, because that was from Costco. The only way I could get the salesman out of the house for American Standard was to buy the product. So he wore me down. When they did the installation, I didn't go up and see them doing anything because that was right after I had my knee replacement. But my brother checked and he thought they were doing an okay job. I did notice after the install that there were a couple of places that the screws came through the sheetrock onto the other side. But I didn't say anything to them. They forgot one of the corner soap dishes, and they did come later and install it, so that was okay.

I don't wash my hair every day because the dermatologist told me I shouldn't, but the drain plugs very easily. It looks nice. They have a piece that fits across the drain, which is 3 inches wide, and it's the width of the shower, and the only way to get that cover off to clean the drain when it backs up is to take a screw driver and lift it up because it's heavy. I don't like that.

I did a rain shower, which I like, and I also added a handheld wand. I was going to put in a pull-down seat, but I figured that was a little bit more expensive than I wanted to pay because it was around $900. I did two grab bars, one on the back, and one on the side. I have very hard water, so I asked them about cleaning the glass if I needed to clean it, and I was told, “Oh, no, our glass doesn't stain.” But hard water does, most certainly, stick to the glass. So, I am currently trying to figure out how to get the hard water off of the glass other than using a razor blade. A razor blade does a beautiful job, but it's very time-intensive. So, I'm slowly cleaning the glass door, and am now wiping it down every time I take a shower with a ShamWow. It'll take me at least another four days to do the shower because I can't get down on my hands and knees anymore. Also, I don't want to spend two hours in the bathtub, scraping it off.

American Standard was a lot more expensive than what I expected, but the quality is such that I don't care. But I had a grant to help me with part of the cost. The VA gave me a list of providers, and none of the other providers were insured and licensed. I live in high rise, so I have to have insurance, and American Standard had all that. They waited until all the products were here before they came out to do the installation. Three gentlemen came down, and they were very cool people. They're from Mississippi. The installation was very, very well done. They told me that it's a lifetime warranty. So, that makes me happy, too. We have other veterans in the building, so I've already given them pictures and the whole bang. I totally recommend American Standard.

In 2023 we purchased a walk in tub from American Standard. I have not had a good experience with this company. From the beginning, they have done a poor job. They had to cut the frame to the door in order to get the tub into the room. They had to replace the door because when they removed the original, they damaged it. They used the cheapest door available. I made them replace it again with a door that was more like the original. They messed up the marble threshold. That took another three visits and then we had to stand over them to do the repair correctly. Now the coating on the handle is flaking off, the hand held shower hose is leaking and the gasket has started to come out. I had to push the gasket back into place in order to use the tub because it was leaking. I called them since Feb of 2026. I was assured the parts were ordered from the installer. They were not, I called them in April of 2026 at the company customer service.

They ordered the parts but now they are backordered. I got this tub because we NEEDED it. When My son went to see how bad the leak was, he discovered that the installers never secured the electrical junction box to the rafters under the floorboards. The junction box is hanging by the wires below a leaking tub. When I told the customer service person about this she said "it has been almost 2 years since the instillation, we should have reported this sooner." As if I should have gone downstairs and checked their work. I trusted that they would have more sense than to leave an electrical junction box dangling by the wires.

Now I have no choice than to shower my husband with a leaky hose that may be leaking water into an unsecured junction box. We paid more than $23,000.00 for this tub less than two years ago and we are having trouble getting it fixed to where it is useful. I work in customer service, so I try to be understanding, but I am losing my patience with this company. I would not recommend this company. Try someone else.

American Standard's presentation was good. Heather came out and she seemed knowledgeable about what she was talking about. It wasn't necessarily like a high-pressured sales pitch. She was more personable. As far as the remodel for our bathroom, they installed the stall shower. So, they had to put in a whole wall as well in order for them to install the shower. They also put in the vanity.

After the presentation, my experience went downhill. I did not enjoy the experience with American Standard because I’m still trying to get it situated from December. It was only supposed to be a two-day job and it is still not complete. The initial conversation at the presentation was great, but then when I followed up about concerns, Heather wasn't very helpful at that point. There was some misunderstanding too, or she did not clearly say that the wall that they were going to install was just going to be paint-ready, so they weren't in charge of painting that wall. The way that she explained it wasn't clear, but the contractor that they hired to do the job has not smoothed out the wall enough so it can be paint-ready. Now, this contractor is no longer, according to him, working with the company, so the job's not completed yet.

American Standard was very well spoken of. They’ve been around for years. They had a lifetime guarantee on all parts of labor, too. My wife and I are getting up there, and she has some bad hips, and it's hard for her to get out of a regular tub. We got a walk-in tub. It's got aromatherapy, chromotherapy, and like 44 jets. We got all the options on it. The install process of the tub took about five hours, and that includes removing the old tub as well.

The tub is performing well now, but I had to change my water heater, and that ended up costing me a bunch more. They did not really say that we were going to have to. They made it sound like a 40-gallon tank would be enough, but the tub itself holds 80 gallons, and you can't sit there and wait for it to heat up the rest of it to get in there to get it up to a good temperature. I ended up putting in a tankless water heater. I ended up having to pay an electrician to come in and rewire the whole thing. It was bad. Right at first, the GFI that American Standard put in was not working properly. So, they had to come out and replace that.

Don't buy an American Standard. Had a terrible experience with their installation. After about three years, jets, air and lights would not work. Rodent damage, which is not covered by warranty. But, when they installed, they left a 4" x 6" hole under tub at drain, allowing the rodents in. They never told me at installation that the large opening was there. If I had known this, I would have closed the opening. Repair cost me hundreds of dollars.

The tub we got from American Standard had several problems, and it took them weeks to sort it out. We're okay now, but the beginning was bumpy. I called three companies for a walk-in tub, and American Standard was one of them. I liked that their tub had more features. Initially, at least the salesman seemed like they were going to follow up and be more responsive.

The sales representative was very good at my house, although the sales consultation took too long. There were too many hours. It was supposed to be an hour and a half at max, and it was three hours. Also, they were competent in the installation, but they were very slow on sorting out the fact that the tub needed permits and it needed coordination with an electrician, a plumber, and them as the installers, because they wanted to be the installers, but they also had to take into consideration that the town required permits, which required licensed plumbers and electricians. So, it went on for several weeks with phone calls, back and forth, and late calls, slow calls, slow coordination, until it finally gets straightened out, and then it was okay. But the confusion over permitting and coordination of electricians, plumbers and installers really shouldn't have happened.

The tub was installed the end of December. It took four weeks from the time they were trying to sort it out to the time they finally got it. There was a great deal of confusion. American Standard should insist that the homeowner has an 80-gallon water tank. They only say, “Well, we recommend it, but a 50-gallon is okay.” A 50-gallon is in no way okay. I was caught up in two different installations on a water tank with a local installer for water tank. They had to take it back. They had to eat the cost. Then another company came in and put an 80-gallon water tank in because there's no way that walk-in tub was being filled by a 50-gallon tank. I'm spending $24,000 for a tub to find out that I have to buy another $4,500 80-gallon tank, or I can't use my tub. So, that would be a huge issue. They get an F because of that.
