I wish there was a half a star rating or 0 stars I could post because this gym has the worse communication and policies especially regarding the COVID19 pandemic and gym membership cancellations. Since the pandemic in 2020, I haven’t gone to the gym. Everything was closed and in lockdown. In September I was getting billed for previous months that I had never used the gym!!!! I called the manager and biller at the gym, Jaime, which took weeks to get ahold of, and she said I would have to physically come into the gym with a doctor's note. At that time due to my condition I didn’t want to step foot anywhere, so I asked if I could fax, or mail my documents, given the current crisis. And she refused.
I immediately called my credit card company and Better Business Bureau and they all agreed that this particular company had had slews of complaints of not hearing our customers and unheard of billing. Fast forward to now, even after sending her the documents and cancellation forms, she is still harassing me about these payments, and she even agreed that I hadn’t ever step foot into the gym since the pandemic. She searched my bar code to see how many times I swiped in. Greedy and poor management indeed. DON'T EVER GO TO THIS GYM!!! I’d rather workout in a park.
Because of COVID I decided to place my membership on hold. Never was I informed that I would be charged a maintenance fee during my conversation with member services. Last year they got me for $40 and this year they got me for $40. The Member Services person convinced me to place it on hold otherwise I might get charged a higher fee even when I told him repeatedly just cancel. I ended up with the fee last year, and had ever intention of canceling the account if I felt I could not go back. I was never notified that I was coming up to the year. I called and canceled my membership and was told I could not get a refund because the company decided not to do refunds. So Gold's Gym has now stolen $80 from me. Do not join Gold's unless you read ALL the fine print. Seriously bad customer service and business practices.
Gold's Gym stole $69.95 from my account by overcharging me in February and attempted to do so in March and April. They now claim they can't refund the overpayment after I chose to cancel my membership due to their unprofessionalism and dishonest business practices.
DON'T SIGN UP WITH GOLD'S GYM. They never return messages, never cancel your membership when you ask them to, provide you with faulty information when you sign up (such as childcare and having a useable pool), and they will harass you nonstop for payment through phone calls and emails when you have CANCELLED REPEATEDLY and blocked them from charging your card. Send a message on Facebook to them, and they immediately respond through automation, and of course they say to call your local gym. Beware. Look at their online reviews and how this is a continuous problem with them. Is it any wonder why they had to file for bankruptcy last year.
This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced and most of it is done through automation LOL. By the way, the second time that I went in to speak with my local manager, I had a witness with me. I left there trusting this new manager (who replaced the previous manager I cancelled with who no longer works for the company), but now he won't return my phone calls. BLOCK THEM ON YOUR CREDIT CARD or they will repeatedly try to get money from you.
This gym became so dirty and packed. Today they moved all the rusty machines to the outside. The front desk wasn't helpful at all cancelling my membership. Apparently they don't wanna cancel so they keep charging me. No point of going there anymore. I referred a friend there. For more than 4 months working out there and I've never gotten any free months.
Zero star I gave, Ashley the manager of Brentwood College Station was extremely rude, more than ex-member were complaining about her ** supremacy. Yesterday DEC 31st, 2020 she evicted me because I was painting on sit up bench trying to breathe by lowering my mask...very unfair, I am 62 years old. I agreed to be evicted if she refunds my prepaid money for 5 months. Never ever join this gym, after you pay prepaid for a year, Gold's Gym will try to evict you and eat the money for unreasonable cause. She would be fired undermining gold's gym, lots of member.
I have couple memberships from different gyms, Gold' s Gym is the worst, completely unethical and dishonest. Stay away and go somewhere else. I was a member of this gym for many years (already out of contract, just paying month to month), the gym is kind of old and unclean, equipments are not maintained. I stuck with it because the location was close to where I work.
During this coronavirus pandemic, I never received any phone call, text, email or letter about the gym reopening. Until one day I got phone call from collections company said I owed gold gym payment. This makes no sense cause they continued to charge me when their doors were closed. This defines greed. Planet Fitness and other gyms are allowing members to design if we feel comfortable to come back then will begin payment again with no pressure on that, they are really care and working with their members. DO NOT SUPPORT Gold's gym, they are a horrible company to work with.
GOLD'S WILL NOT LET YOU CANCEL DURING COVID. Gold's in Arlington MA mislead their customers about the cancellation policy when signing up. It is impossible to cancel unless you move far away or have a new permanent medical disability (both require written proof) - even when your year contract is up (indefinite automatic renewal). This is managed by ABC Financial. Even during COVID when they closed down temporarily, they still wouldn't let you quit. Personally, I moved in with my older mother and we are concerned about COVID so will be avoiding gyms for the near future. After explaining this situation in detail to ABC Financial, I am still unable to get out of the membership and will continue being charged $50 a month indefinitely. This would be an unethical policy outside of COVID, but during this time, it is almost unbelievable. DO NOT SIGN UP!
First, the Management promised to give 100% Extension of the membership post-Lockdown. The second time they communicated saying 100% Extension will be done only on the Renewal of your resp Membership (of 1 Year). If not, only 50% of the Membership will be extended, and you can join as soon as the Gyms re-open in Maharashtra.
The Third time just two days before the Gyms in Mumbai re-opened, I get a call from the Management saying, "You can't come to the gym without the renewal." As per the Management, I compulsorily will have to take renewal, and even after that, they will give only 50% Extension on my previous membership, without that we cannot enter the premises.
In a very subtle way, they have just asked the customers to "Get Lost". And very sadly I have lost my 6 months Membership here. (Cherry on the cake no discounts for Renewal.) Advice to the Management: Please communicate among yourselves first and then address your customers. Gold's is pretty expensive and it's not easy to arrange such a huge wholesome amount two to three days before.
The whole package is nice for the price. It is more versatile than I had anticipated with a lot more to do than just a bench press. As for the bench itself, it's very sturdy and safe.
Tried to cancel my account and the customer care representatives were empathetic, but Corporate sucks. Cancellation portals were once available online, but no longer since Covid... which should be considered for cancelations out of 30-day window.
Do NOT join Gold's Gym. At the start of the Pandemic, I called and called and called and called to cancel my membership. NO ONE ANSWERED; yet, I continued to be billed month to month for my membership. Because I could not reach anyone at Gold's Gym, I called my bank to stop payment to Gold's Gym. The ONLY time Gold's Gym communicated with me was to tell me my account had been sent to Collections!!!! NEVER ONCE DID I RECEIVE COMMUNICATION THAT THE GYM WAS CLOSED OR HAD REOPENED. I have very good credit and this will negatively impact my credit score. GOLD'S GYM DOES NOT CARE ABOUT IT'S CUSTOMERS. DO NOT SUPPORT GOLD'S GYM.
I received no notification that the gym was reopening after the Covid-19 shutdown. I did not get an email, text, or letter. Even so, I was automatically re-enrolled and charged. I called the day I was charged inquiring and they said nothing could be done. I am uncomfortable attending the gym due to health concerns. I do not understand how a refund and freeze for this month could not be applied. These are unique circumstances and there was poor customer service or care for customers concerns. Also, I tried calling the corporate number and left a voicemail a week ago and still have not received a callback. I have been charged even though I am not entering the gym will not be refunded.
This franchise had two location in my city. When the COVID virus hit they bankrupt both of these locations and forced all of the existing members to attend a location that is the next city over. In my case this meant I would have to drive 45 mins to an hour away to reach this location. I attempted twice to communicate with their corporate office on the cancellation prior to their opening of location they transferred me to and received no response. I now find that they are still processing payments for this membership. So now I am forced to drive to this new location to process my cancellation. This franchise never even made the effort to inform me of transfer. I had to learn of the transfer through other members. Worst gym ever!
Me and my spouse had joined the Gold's Gym on 10th February, 2020 (Bailey's Crossroad Branch, Virginia), upon receiving a deal from the salesperson, "You will join the gym with only 1 dollar and you can cancel the gym after 30 days and your money will be refunded". We grabbed the deal and joined and we followed all the rules so that we can cancel if we don't like after 30 days: we had an appointment with an instructor, we went to the gym a minimum 8 days within 30 days after joining.
Unfortunately, we didn't like the gym for some personal reasons, we went there physically to the branch to apply for membership cancellation. The salesperson over there gave us 2 forms and we filled it up and submitted. She assured on the same day, 11th March, 2020, that, it will take 5/6 business days to process the cancellation. However, they still didn't process my membership cancellation, they don't reply my emails for 2 months now. So, I am still a member, and I am paying gym membership fee for nothing when the gym is closed.
QNTM Fitness and other gyms are allowing members to cancel by email. They're working with their members during this Coronavirus pandemic. I called Gold's Gym Hendersonville inquiring cancellation. I was advised, "I must do so at the facility to sign papers." This makes no sense cause they had an advertisement on Instagram posted people could signup online. Newbies can enroll online, but need to cancel at the location during a pandemic. On the news, I heard Gold's Gym filed for bankruptcy. I'm not familiar with the branches or ownership. This speaks volumes about how they deal with members. They kept drafting my account when they were ordered to close. They did eventually cease, but did it again upon reopening. This defines greed.
In my opinion, they should've reopened not drafting another payment since they already drafted payments when the gym was not in usage. People must make the best decisions for themselves in life...especially during unprecedented times! I want people to know about how Gold's view their members. Many people don't want to go back to gyms risking their safety. To me, it appears Gold's doesn't care about the welfare of their members. On Facebook, they have an app regarding a no contact check-in. However, members must go to the site to cancel?!
Gold's in Arnold Missouri recently closed for good. Since that time I have reached out by phone and email. Seldomly were my emails answered; so I kept sending. After about 6 emails, they would answer but never answer the questions I asked...it was like a robot was making the responses. My concern was that they continued to bill Medicare after they closed. A simple straight answer would have been appreciated. After 5 years with them I would have appreciated a professional response versus an antagonizing one. Accordingly I will reach out to the state attorney general's office and to Medicare. If you want a gym where no one will help you (say in the event of a billing issue), this is the gym for you.
It's really a nice and clean environment. Trainers are also nice people. If you have a gang of friends want to go to gym, they have a good membership plans. It can save you budget lot when pay for one person.
The Golds Gym in Redmond WA was clean, machines were kept clean and in working order (if one broke it was fixed by the next day), they hired wonderful trainers, locker rooms (shower, sinks and toilets) were kept clean and never smelled like a typical locker room. They provide towels, soap and other items in the shower area. The price was very but we joined before they had the pool opened. The saltwater pool and spas we clean, as was the surrounding flooring and shower. We actually thought of it more as a private club than a gym.
I would prefer if all of the gyms have saltwater pools. That is the best part about the gym. I do enjoy the amount of equipment, saunas, classes and various rooms the have. I also enjoy the women's only room.
I have been trying to contact someone from Gold's Gym regarding my membership. They are still charging my membership even though the gym has been closed for over a month now. I have reached out through Facebook messenger and Twitter and no one has responded. I tried calling their corporate office and their automatic message says all offices are closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I think it is totally unethical that they are still charging even though their facilities are closed.
Been going to Gold's for years, so has my husband, we love it, all our friends go there and it's not just another commercialized gym, based for us true body builders who want to stay fit for life....
Provides classes for a variety of people of different ages and abilities. Helpful personnel and an inviting and clean environment. I found the location was convenient to my home and that makes a difference when going to a gym.
The gym was under construction the entire time I was there. The locker rooms, sauna, and bathrooms were never available. They gym equipment was scattered over where. It was noisy. Hard to concentrate on a workout, let alone yoga.
Gold's Gym has a variety of equipment and is clean. I didn't have a great experience with the personal trainer I received but the group classes are very good. I like the consistency of Gold's gym because the locations around the city are similar in layout.
I went to Gold's Gym due to a free pass period where it was advertised that anyone could try out golds gym for free. Went to a location, made an account, used their equipment, and left after a few days, forgetting about it. I even thought about signing up for just a month since it was nice. But when I made my account, I couldn't manage my membership, which I thought was odd, but I decided just to go without a gym membership. Then I forgot about it for a couple months until I figured out they have been charging me $43 a month.
Here's where the problem began. I again went to my profile to try and cancel my membership, but the manage membership option was still unavailable. I called and asked about how to cancel, and I've been told I had signed up for a 12-month contract with golds gym!!! What a scam!!! What I signed up for was not just to make an account for a few days, but scammed into a full year with them!!! And to cancel my membership, I have to pay a $100 fee, not even online but I have to do it in person, because I'm the one making them the victim! What a scam! Stay the hell away from this gym, never even sign up, never give them ANY info whatsoever, because they will steal money from you! Heres what
I've had a Gold's family membership for over seven years and the monthly membership fees were charged automatically to my credit card. I'm 72 years old and had several surgeries and can no longer utilize the gym. My kids no longer live at home. I called to cancel my family membership and was told I had to come in and cancel in person.
On July 10, 2019 I went to the gym and cancelled my family membership, and filled out their cancellation questionnaire. No one from Gold's indicated that there was a problem cancelling the membership. I thought my membership was cancelled, but Gold's Gym continued charging my credit card. When I called and emailed about the problem, Gold's contact person said my son had to cancel the membership. I told them the charges were against my credit card and I want the membership cancelled and I want a credit for the unauthorized charges. They refused to cancel the membership until my son went there in person, and then they refused to refund the money for months of unauthorized charges. BEWARE doing business with Gold's Gym.
I cancelled my membership in December, they withdrew money from my account, so I called my bank and stopped future payments since they are know from what I read they keep milking your account. They kept on calling me wanting additional money saying I should give a 30 days notice and I owe them additional renewal fees, I told them, "Why I should pay you renewal fee when I am leaving you," I paid for two weeks and I am willing to pay the additional two weeks just to get rid of them, they refused. ANYONE WANTS TO JOIN THIS PLACE DON'T SIGN ANYTHING. IT'S A RIP OFF PLACE.
The place is dirty, the equipment is old and broken. @4:30am I have to wait for equipment or have to 'ad lib' because the equipment is so old. The last two times I've gone to Gold's I've gotten really sick and I want to cancel my membership because we aren't living in a clean environment, and the last thing I need is to catch something that will make me terminally ill or worse, kill me.
Gold's creates a hassle for people who they don't respect for wanting to keep their health in check without being subject to a pool of illness. Having Gold's create even more hassles for people who want out and don't want to use the facility should be granted, respected, and given immediately. There shouldn't be a problem with this. I shouldn't have to be punished for joining Gold's gym. It's ridiculous to make people go through so much of a hassle and not respect their reasons for canceling. I don't want to be treated with threats of paying more money because you don't respect that I don't want to use your facilities.
I registered for Gold Gym on Dec. 2nd 2019 and I cancelled it on Dec. 30th 2019. Between this period, they charged me $154. This is robbery. They advertised that the charge is $21 when you sign month to month contract plus $29 starting fee. I agreed. I later realized that they were charging me $21 every 2 weeks. They charged me $29 on 12/02/2019, $21 on 12/07/2019, $21 on 12/21/2019. I went on 12/30/2019 to complain. After the discussion, I realized that they are fraudulent. I told the young lady to cancel my account and she charged me again $42 and $39.99 on the 30th of December 2019. This action can only be defined as daytime robbery.
