I saw physician on December 4, 2023. They instructed me to go to the lab and have some lab work done which I did. I was then bill $1116 because it was not preauthorized. Mayo should have done the preauthorization prior to my lab work. My insurance would have paid at 100% if this would have been done. Now they are sending me to collections because I refuse to pay because Mayo made a mistake

At 2 years old my son started not meeting milestones and I have been on a mission to get answers ever since. Every single person I talked to could not answer most of my questions. Yesterday when I came to mayo clinic, I met the most intelligent doctor I have in my 37 years. I have met with doctors that are world renowned and were terrible. Yesterday gave me relief to know that the tests my little boy needs will be done. Not only that but my son had been in excruciating pain and that he has neuropathy. Which was a shock to me because he is happy. He is nonverbal autism level 3 but nobody who knows him would suspect pain.

I was prescribed a medication and he not only slept thru the night for the first time, but he was a completely different child. Words can't express how grateful I am. When it comes to getting care for my loved ones, I want an expert and I found one here. This has been so hard to deal with and I have so much relief to know my son is with the best hands possible.

My father was a veteran and he attended UW VA hospital and clinics. He was diagnosed with both autonomic and peripheral neuropathy. He suffered from Agent Orange exposure and he was told to just accept that this was the norm. His condition is continued to progress and worsen over the course of three months. He would eventually begin passing out while sitting up. His blood pressure would drop too low if he sat up for too long. Cognitively, my father was of sound mind and his spirit was strong. His body, not so much. Eventually, enough was enough and we decided to take my father to Mayo ER. It was a five hour drive that I will never forget. Within 48 hours, Mayo clinic had admitted my father, biopsied his nerves and diagnosed him with Amyloidosis. This is not the amyloidosis that is inherited, instead it is a direct consequence of Agent Orange exposure.

Shortly after my father's diagnosis, a very grim prognosis was given but the doctors said there is treatment if it's diagnosed early. Unfortunately, we were too late. My father passed away exactly two weeks after receiving his diagnosis. It was a diagnosis that the UW VA should have made years prior. It only took Mayo 48 hours and unfortunately, my father was not the first case they have seen. My father was a courageous, family oriented, God-fearing man that lived to serve others and he spread so much joy to everyone he met. I have so much gratitude for Mayo simply because they were able to give us answers. My father still lost his life, but I have peace knowing that he finally learned the truth of his disease.

My insurance carrier and my employer had me go to Mayo Rochester for an evaluation. I was diagnosed with a severe hip issue and needed a replacement. Mayo clinic rejected my surgery. It wasn't because I didn't need the surgery, they agreed that I did need it. I was rejected because the procedure was going to be complicated and I would need a special implant, and it would not fall in line with the success rate that they boast about. It was going to skew their success numbers. In short the nurse said it was too complicated and too costly for them to do the surgery. L

My daughter was in the mayo clinic for mental health. While she was there, she made a suicide attempt. The doctor wanted to release her the next day. I made it clear that I was not comfortable with her being released so soon after a suicide attempt. So they kept her one more day. So they decided 2 days were enough. When I expressed my concerns on her needing to stay longer, I was told by her doctor that there was nothing they could do. The doctor told me she knows copping skills and there's nothing more she can do.

When I told the doctor that I wanted my daughter to stay longer for safety reasons, the doctor threatened me that my insurance wouldn't cover any more and I'd have to pay for it. All the doctor seemed to care about was getting my mentally sick daughter out of there. The doctor seemed to have no care about her safety. I just wanted everyone with mentally ill children to know this before trusting the staff with your child. I did file a complaint with the hospital but I don't know if it will make a difference.

I am from Denver Colorado. I traveled over 850 miles to visit this so-called world-class provider. I contacted them in early February 2024 to set up an appointment with a Neuro-Surgeon (Dr. Ali **). The first call I had with them we spent 15-20 minutes talking about intake and insurance. I was placed on hold for about 15 minutes to verify my insurance was accepted. The gal I spoke with confirmed it was. I was then directed to open a portal to collect my medical records (there were an excessive amount- particularly MRI scans). I overnighted the MRI discs and uploaded all of the other medical records needed. I was constantly having to check in to make sure they received them and that they were being reviewed to see if the could 'offer' me an appointment.

They called me a little more than 2 weeks, on 3/19/24) saying they had set my appointment with Dr. ** for 4/2. As soon as they notified me I booked my plane tickets. Then they called me 1 day later saying they had made a mistake and that the appointment would have to be changed to 4/3. I told them my plane tickets were already purchased (non-refundable), they would not be flexible and keep the original appointment and they told me I would not be meeting with Dr. **, but a nurse instead. I had to change my ticket. I arrived in Phoenix 4/2. My appointment was on 4/3 at 7:45AM. I arrived at least 30 minutes early and checked in. I sat in the waiting room for at least 40 minutes then someone called me up and said I would have to go to the business office.

I did, a gentleman took me into his office and said, I would have to give them a deposit of $5,500 right there, and that my insurance was not accepted. EXCUSE ME?!! $5,500 to see a nurse? Why are you just telling me this now? I was sent to the Patient Experience Office (which aught to tell you something - that they would even need such a place)! The gal (Casi), while nice, was incredibly unhelpful. She said they tried to call and left me vm's (on 4/1 and 4/2) which I didn't return. Funny thing is, when I showed my incoming phone call log to her, she could not explain why nothing was showing.

I asked that provide me with written and visual documentation that these call were made. She flat out refused, saying "this is private documentation of the hospital!" Okay, yeah right. I have documentation from 4/2 giving me a "good-faith" quote that does not say anything about my insurance not being accepted and it was NOWHERE NEAR THAT $5,500!!!! I traveled a total of 1,700 miles, spent two days off of work and incurred expenses. Now they are going to face a legal problem. These people need to be prosecuted for fraud and extortion. Them being world-class, hardly! I pity you if you are traveling to seek treatment from these miscreants. FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE TO GO, THIS PLACE IS EPOCHLY HORRIBLE!!!!

For an organization that says it is proud of the quality of its care, and which charges accordingly, they have absolutely the worst blood lab I've ever seen. As bad as it was 2 months ago, it is even worse now. Whoever manages this debacle should be fired. Now. We were told yesterday the wait would be an hour from the appointment time and to go to the next appointment on our list and come back. We were back in 30 minutes but only then did they put us in the queue. And hour and 15 minutes later we still hadn't been called. We left.

At least 2 of the 3 or 4 phlebotomists were acting very inappropriately, like a night at the comedy club while at least 50 people were waiting. The check-in staff is not the least bit helpful but I suppose they can't be blamed much. They must be sick of it, too. To make matters worse, the schedulers don't consider the ridiculous wait times so patients' choices are to sit there and miss other appointments or to keep those appointments and blow off the blood work. The problem with that though is that Mayo refuses to let patients have blood work done somewhere else.

To be clear...this is not a walk-in lab. It is by appointment only and by 10 a.m. or earlier the back-up and wait times are horrible. There is absolutely NO EXCUSE for this self-created mess. The management should be kicked to the curb and, until this is fixed, scheduling should be adjusted accordingly. I can't believe whoever leads the scheduling group hasn't done so already. That's probably another manager who should be sent packing. Last but not least, if you don't have a big nest egg, go someplace else. Unlike most other clinics, they do not accept Insurance providers' standard payments. Another visit or two and we will have to start paying our balance by credit card and then paying outrageous interest on that balance.

Every person at Mayo that I have spoken to since, has towed the line and covered for his woke behavior. Now I am labeled as having psychosocial behavior, for my response to them canceling my donation. I tried to do my part as a kidney donor, and out there somewhere is someone who will pass away waiting for my kidney. I went to Mayo assuming they would be competent. Wrong. Firstly, unlike other medical systems (the Cleveland Clinic, for one), Mayo does not inform you if you are to be seen by a resident. When I went to the Cleveland Clinic and other medical offices, I was given the option of whether a student or resident could be part of it. Not Mayo, you make an appointment hoping to see an expert and you get an ill-trained resident or a fellow just breezing through a department that is not their specialty. In ophthalmology my eye was made to feel worse (in my opinion) by the resident who did not inform me of what he wanted to do for his own practice. I also perceived him as rude as he spoke over me many times and spoke down to me (I've spent 30+ years as a professional).

My eye a month later is still in pain and my vision worse. I have to see someone else to see what damage he did. The retinologist who was supposed to come in, never bothered as she was busy planning an event she had. She, like the resident she was supposed to oversee, made me feel that she and he could care less about their patients.

Reviewing your chart or history in advance of seeing you - even for the most rudimentary information? Not done in my case either time I went there. Go elsewhere. Also, I've been to other departments here - it's a factory (as one nurse in Ophthalmology said to me!) where one gets the impression that they are out to make as much money as possible without a care for your health - again, my opinion based on my experiences there.

I informed the person I was talking with that I had not sent the requested additional information until 01/25/2024? She replied it's still a rejection letter. So what I take that as meaning is my request was rejected even without them looking at the additional information I sent. If this is how they handle simple things like appointments and record keeping I wonder how good their medical care is?

Disabling, devastating, brutal surgery, not indicated. Urologist was a research person, students and residents practiced on me. Damage is irreversible, CEO does not respond, Mayo Clinic gets paid by the number of organs being removed. Medical records were falsified. Never encountered such a sloppy work from a physician in my 35+ years of practice, in record keeping and patient care:

Mayo gets paid by the number organs the Urologist takes out, Urologist was research Doctor, clinically total unexperienced. Students and residents experience on the patients going to Mayo. As per Harvard University, no procedure on me was indicated. Mayo CEO make $3.47 million a year. The World expects patients to be treated at Mayo Clinic with fairness, respect, honesty, using the newest state-of-the-art medical technology. I underwent a brutal, devastating and disabling unnecessary surgery at that your clinic.

In May 2019, I was looking for a 2nd opinion. A Urologist outside of the Mayo Clinic performed a DRE (digital rectal exam) saying, I would have a very tiny prostate, my PSA of 4.3, "but my real PSA, he said, would in be indeed much higher, because of my tiny prostate". This urologist from outside of Mayo Clinic was recommending a total, radical prostatectomy immediately, I would have mets in my lymph nodes. "life expectancy 6 months". That Urologist did not perform a Bx of my lymph nodes.

On my request, that Urologist agreed to perform an MRI of my pelvis, which is 98% specific and sensitive, before performing a total radical prostatectomy. The MRI is done by professional urologists before the biopsy due to the spread of cancer, bleeding, infection, artifacts etc during the Bx procedure. The MRI of my prostate was negative for cancer, normal in size, no lymph node metastasis! That "experienced Urologist" was not able to palpate a prostate. My PSA spontaneously decreased from 4,3 to 3.7 after sexual abstinence.

Later on, that Urologist, from outside of Mayo, called me, saying "Some people wait for surgery with such a low PSA". It means, biopsy and surgery with such a low PSA of 3.7 on a routine exam, no clinical symptoms, were not indicated. Prostate biopsies can bear major complications, including spread of cancer, infection, pain, bleed etc. Active surveillance would have been indicated in my case.

In addition, as per MRI literature and MRI radiologists, Gleason 4 cells can clearly be seen on an MRI. No Gleason 4 cells could be seen on both my Pelvic MRIs.

As per urological publications/books, American College of Urology, a favorable Gleason 7 (3+4), as in was in my case, shows a decreasing PSA, whereas on a unfavorable Gleason 7 (4+3), the PSA goes up. These test results are highly susceptive of a misread of my prostate biopsy. This was later on by a Howard, Boston, Professor, confirmed, who specializes in prostate cancer pathology. He said, I would have had very, very very few Gleason 3+4 cells on my prostate Bx, normal live expectancy.

Results of Pathology slides vary, depending of experience and "politics". Whereas the PSA is a lab test which is less vulnerable to human Error and politics/experience. Only the prostate produces/makes PSA, it is a very specific test. In addition, the technique of the Bx may play a major role in regards of the Bx results. Patients come to Mayo from all over the world in order to be evaluated from the "bottom up", like H&P, physical exam, laboratory tests, MRIs, PET scans etc, not using date from outside of Mayo Clinic, since those date are most often false and unreliable.

Mayo Clinic gave a TV commercial in June 2019, saying it does use Laser treatment instead of radical prostatectomy for diseased/cancer of prostates. My second MRI at Mayo showed a tumor equal or less than 1 cm, which is- per literature, an indication of active surveillance. I made an appointment at Mayo Clinic for a second opinion and was referred to Dr. Robert **, a research urologist at Mayo Clinic. He had lots of open appointments and cancellations as well.

Dr. ** has an assignment at Mayo for research of Incontinence caused by Robotic prostate surgeries. He does only a few surgeries a year and has always "openings". He needs to show a certain number of procedures in order to keep up his surgical skills up and passes the credentialing requirements for robotic prostate surgeries. I learned after the fact, he was "behind" his surgical skills. Patients drop out on him before their scheduled surgical appointments, possible due his poor patient's recommendations. He had only 3 patient evaluations with a rating of 3.7 and worse. Mayo Clinic does not publish patient's negative doctor's evaluations but removes those a.s.a.p from the public records and may pays the publisher to remove those. Mayo Clinic is "Number One" in research, but not in patient care, what is confusing to most patients when entering the Mayo buildings.

    Indication for surgery:

It varies in the USA from hospital to hospital. There is no common agreements written "in stone". If a Clinic has Robots, that clinic will recommend surgery, if the clinic has skilled Proton radiation availability, proton radiation will be offered, same applies for laser or immunotherapy.

Dr. **'s motive was, not limited to:
-keeping his robotic prostatic surgical credentialing requirement up for any prize. He went to a "Robotic Class" out of state just a week before my surgery. Dr. ** should have been watched closely by an experienced surgeon before performing a prostatectomy on me with medical students and residents experiencing on me.

-Mayo Clinic bought a new robotic surgery machine in 2019. The urologists are kind of "forced" to use that expensive Robot as often as possible. Totally ignoring both, neither doing what is published in the Urology books nor what is good for the patient.

    Dr. **'s means was:

He has some kind of surgical skills in Robotic surgery and needs to keep them up.

    Dr. **'s opportunities were:

He saw me as "weak link", I was by myself at the initial visit etc, who may less likely complain. He said, I would be a "good candidate for surgery" with a solid tumor of 1 cm, no previous pelvic surgeries etc. A good surgical candidate is not an indication for surgery!

    Important to know:
-Neither Dr. ** nor one of his residents performed a digital rectal exam in order not to contradict the exam taken outside of Mayo, which not only is unprofessional, but dangerous as well
    - Dr. ** did not show up to the most important meeting, the scheduled pre-surgical appointment on 8/8/2019. He sent a second year resident instead. That resident could confirm "the surgery will last less than one hour and I will get my sexual function and length of my penis back in 2 years time". The resident said, "He is not performing the surgery and can not give me details, but needed a signature to prove the patient (me) was here at Mayo for the pre-surgical appointment. .
-Dr. ** sends Students and Residents for his scheduled clinical appointments in order to "hide" if it comes to a legal complaint. The 2nd year resident wrote in his notes exactly what Dr. ** wanted to see, not what was discussed during my visits. Residents do this in order to please their supervisors hoping to get a good evaluation at the completion of their monthly rotation.
-The 2nd year Resident did not check off provided little boxes, about what could go wrong during surgery not limited Post Traumatic Stress Disease (PTSD) on the form he wanted me to sign.

Dr. ** was not present and can only go by what the resident documented.

The highly trained Dr. ** ignored, did not know better of does not care of the following facts:

-My initial 12 Prostate Biopsies showed a 3 Gleason 4+3 cells. The remainder were 3+4 or lower. Because the PSA -made by the prostate only- was decreasing from 4.3 (April 2019) to 3.7, my MRI was negative for cancer, normal in size, not tiny. I had no clinical symptoms I was concerned, the Biopsy, taken outside of Mayo, was altered, misread or mixed up with another patient.

I asked Dr. ** several times to repeat the biopsy. He vehemently refused. The reason being, if he would repeat the prostate biopsy and the biopsy result would have been better than original Gleason 4+3 x 3 cells, he would not have had an indication for the "very lucrative, brutal" surgery. He may have lost his license to practice robotic prostate surgery (?)

-Dr. ** knew, should have known or ignored the fact, that 75% of prostate biopsies are false. It means, 75% of prostate biopsies taken before the robotic prostate removal with a Gleason of 4+3, unfavorable Gleason 7, have indeed a Gleason of 3+4, a favorable Gleason 7 or better, taken from tissue after the surgically removed prostate. As it turned out to be in my case. My PSA was 3.7 before Surgery. Surgery on me was not indicated. Those facts are published in American urological books/literature. Not considering the long-term side effects of dementia from the anesthetic Propofol for a surgery lasting > 2 hours. I was promised by the 2nd year Resident "It lasts less than 1 hour".

Immediately after I arrived at the OR, I received an "anti-anxiety pill", which made me extremely sleepy. I was waiting the anesthesiologist to give a "Time Out", but there was none. I remember a resident came by said hello. The surgery was performed by Dr. **, his students and residents. I never allowed or signed any papers, letting students and residents experimenting on me. In addition, Dr. ** did not write the surgical reports, but signed the surgical report written by his resident instead. A very inaccurate report, using nonprofessional medical language and not mentioning the surgical complication that occurred during the lengthy,

I had been to Mayo in Jacksonville in 2021 to try to get a diagnosis for my chronic pain from surgical error back in 2019. The woman I got assigned to went AWOL the next day after my visit. I found this after repeated calls when I had gotten home. She had no interest in being present for my appointment and made no bones about it. My clinical notes were all wrong. I gave up on them but kept looking elsewhere. In October of 2023 I had my last appointment at UAB Birmingham with a neurologist without success.

I happened to be on the internet and there it was right in front of me!!! My pain is due to the chest tube placed in emergency surgery to bring me back to life from where the doctor unknowingly cut the exterior of my heart with a Watchman Device. I was sent on to recovery where someone discovered I had died.

The remedy for the pain from damage to the intercostal nerves is to do a nerve block of the nerves damaged.

I reached back out to the doctor at Mayo that had sent me a “canned message” back in 2021 asking if he thought that this had been my problem and if so could he make a recommendation. This was through the patient portal. Within the hour his assistant CALLED ME to set up an hour later to set up a Telemed visit for the NEXT DAY! Wow! When the call came in the first words out of that doctor’s mouth was, “You’ve got 5 minutes!!!” That should have been my first clue that I obviously had bruised his fragile monstrous ego. He poo pooed my idea and began reading off what were in my notes. I told him that they were completely WRONG! Then he began screaming/yelling at me and called me a liar. He really did!

I guess since I have lost count of how many ‘specialists’ I have seen and not one single one of them caught it. Chest tube placement causes nerve damage in 50% of the people that have the procedure. And of those 50% of people 30% still had nerve damage 4 years out! This is something any doctor should have learned in their early years of schooling. It’s not brain surgery!!!! I almost hung up on him but I decided I wasn’t going to let this small minded egotistical man scream over me and call me a liar and I put back on him just like he was putting it on me. Like I said, I was so sick of hurting and sick of these highly educated medical people not able to give me an answer that he just touched a nerve and I was NOT going to get my thoughts be heard.

My husband was in the other part of the house and came to see what all the yelling was about. (We were on speaker phone). He managed to hear my story about the woman I had been assigned to and her going AWOL. I don’t know what the situation with her but it was like I flipped a switch with him and he immediately calmed down and began giving me some options. I couldn’t tell you one thing he suggested as I was DONE being abused and bullied by this doctor. My husband just said to hang up on him. I quickly got off the phone. I read his after visit notes. Lies. Lies, lies. I wouldn’t carry my dog to anybody at Mayo FL!!!!

On 2/14/21 I find a lump in my left breast. I call Mayo Clinic Health System Red Wing Clinic and discover my primary doctor has left Mayo. I call a scheduler and tell her I have a lump in my breast. She tells me there are no doctors available and it will be two weeks before someone can see me. My husband finds a mammogram at MCHS Eastbridge in Mankato, the next day. I drive two hours for my mammogram and state I have a lump in my left breast. They tell me this is just a regular mammogram and refuse to do an ultrasound. I wait two weeks and I am called back as they find a lump. They do an ultrasound and find highly suspicious tumor and check the tumor for cancer.

It is now 3 weeks from when I found my lump. I can’t sleep at night and have terrible anxiety. Three days later they call me and state I have cancer. I ask what do I do now? They tell me my primary care physician needs to make appointments for my breast cancer care. I breakdown, cry and state my primary care doctor has left Mayo. Without my primary care physician I am left to die. I call MCHS Red Wing and ask for a primary care physician, they state all doctors are busy and I will need to wait 10 days just to see a PA. I breakdown and cry. I am crying so hard I am sobbing. I tell the scheduler I have cancer. The scheduler then finds a PA at another MCHS site. I travel to this other site, the next day, and PA then schedules a visit 6 weeks later with the breast clinic in Rochester. This PA leaves a year later and I am without a primary care doctor again.

I speak with my sisters, mother and cousin and at my age (63 years old) I make a Decision to have both breast removed and no reconstructive surgery. I have had too many false positives and too many ultrasound and retesting that I no longer want to go through this stress again. No more mammograms! NO MORE! I meet with the breast cancer doctor along with my husband. I tell them I want both breast removed and I don’t want any plastic surgery. I want to go flat. The doctor and my husband talk me out of it and recommend a lumpectomy. I state NO, I want both breasts removed! They won’t listen to me.

The doctor then scheduled more testing which includes a procedure which pulls tissue out of my left breast with massive bleeding. They tell me the tissue is cancerous. Now my blood has been in contact with cancer cells and is circulating through my body. I go back and state I want both breasts removed. My husband and doctor argue with me that I should have a mastectomy with reconstructive breast surgery. I state I want both breast removed and I want to go flat! No one listens to me. The doctors are listening to my husband while ignoring me. I have a mastectomy with a nipple sparing surgery. Dr ** is awesome and meets with me prior to surgery. Doctors tells me there is no cancer in any lymph nodes and margins are clear. No chemo is needed.

I meet with another doctor who is taking care of my breast cancer treatment after surgery. I am just a number at this hospital, nothing more. She tells me I need to have chemo because I have a 7 percent chance cancer could return. I am so upset I breakdown and cry and state I don’t want chemo and my other doctor told me I wouldn’t have to have it! She insists I do chemo. I do 4 rounds of chemo. It destroys my veins in my feet. It destroys my veins so bad they can’t get an IV into my veins for my reconstructive surgery several months later. My veins are so destroyed I get neuropathy!

My doctor puts me on estrogen blocking drugs. I have serious side effects. Severe depression, changes in personality and osteoporosis. I go back to doctor and state I can’t do these drugs. She then prescribes more drugs. Anti depressants, ** for my osteoporosis etc. I ask doctor if I change my diet, put myself into ketosis and exercise more can I get off the estrogen blocking drugs? She tells me NO. Exercise and diet don’t help, just these drugs, which lower my chance of cancer returning by 8 percent!

I am on my 3rd estrogen blocking drug and start ** infusions, which have serious side effects. The estrogen blocking drugs give me brain fog. I work at a call center and can’t concentrate on my calls. I blank out on calls and can’t remember things. It is effecting my job performance and my relationship with my husband and friends. I cry every day. The drugs have changed my personality. I read an article that estrogen is very important for reducing Alzheimer’s. Women’s Alzheimer’s has skyrocketed. I ask doctor if these drugs are now being linked to Alzheimer’s? She said maybe, a little, but we are more concerned with breast cancer then Alzheimer’s.

I go to Mayo for my annual mammogram on my right breast. The technician demands to do a mammogram on my fake left breast. I tell her NO, she only needs to do my right breast. This is fake. She does it anyway and finds many issues and starts taking many images! She then schedules an ultrasound. My anxiety goes through the roof. I start to cry and state I wanted both breast removed so that I never have to go through this stress again! I tell the ultrasound technician to find my last ultrasound done 6 months ago, after I get an infection in the fake breast. My fake breast is prone to infections and I wish I had just removed both of my breasts so that I don’t have to go through this stress again! They find my last ultrasound and state they are the same, no change.

This was my last straw! I am done with Mayo! I have transferred my care to Healthpartners and I have an oncologist who listens to my concerns. If you are an older woman, like me, remove both breasts and find a doctor that listens to you and doesn’t push drugs and procedures.

I would not recommend the urinalysis urologist department at all, it's a joke. I waited over 3 months for this appointment, had been told they will get the problem fixed and make sure all the appointments are all done and the problem in hand will be solved. So, here the day arrived, I had taken off of work 3 days so I could see them, well, it was very uneventful and so Frustrating, if I knew this I would of just stayed with my home town doctor and did the same thing that I have been doing for the last 4 years, with no results and bring told to come back. So here I didn't get anything solved, it was a mess.

1st appointment, went up to checking, no biggie. The ** man (why I say that Is he was the only color man working that day and he needs to be let go) slaps down this joke of a laminated paper with these expression faces in how I am feeling in the urge to urinate, I told him I am not sure between the 2, then he says if I don't know then I will be told to reschedule, I was instantly disappointed right then there, so I tried to contain my emotions, get back and pee in this joke of a funnel measuring device, ok, fine, done this before. Then put in another room and laid down where she scanned my bladder, she said "nothing in my bladder". Ok, so I had been going pee all morning, hard to hold, then knew it wouldn't be long that I would have to do it again, that room with the little funnel then the scan of my bladder. Ok, fine.

Now next appointment 2 hours later. So, here we are in a different department in a different level, asked me to pee in a cup in a major used bathroom, tons of people in and out. Done my business, have cup in hand as I'm carrying my pee around in public up to a desk, right in front of God and everyone. They have it now, along with that other sample earlier, god knows what happened to that sample. Now here we are another couple of hours to see the actual doctor. She did ok, explained options and what not.

I am not sure if they don't read and care on what I had responded to in all of my answers 3 months prior and or medical records and even care to maybe make a video medical call to get everything in check before this day so I'm not just hanging for another freaking 2 months to actually get the problem solved. I waited this long, and was so excited to get my bladder In check and not be bothered by it at work and life. Nope!! Now I have no more time off, thank you very much for wasting my time.

The MD would not listen and told me l was interrupting his belittling of me. Almost a year later another major institution did look at the MRIs and found a vessel over the sacral plexus. What a waste of time and l have had two surgeries and may not recover from the long standing compression in my nerves. All Mayo Clinic did was support the MD's behavior. I also am a MD and their behavior should never been accepted.

Original review: I am a health care professional and I would state that Mayo Clinic has none. They refused to look at any of my records that I brought including MRI reports, the actual discs and a detailed summary by a neurologist. All they did was to state how important they were and it was the MAYO way. Customer Service supported my less than 15 minute visit stating I was lucky to have any appointment. They refused to look at a critical MRI of the lumbar spine. How can they call themselves a health care center?

Unfortunately, they called the pharmacy number, which is merely a discount card, rather than our actual health insurance. They then refused to call insurance back to properly validate our Aetna policy. We had to cancel all our appointments, and now we are out of pocket for our expensive flights and hotels even if we manage to get this fixed and reschedule for another time. I cannot urge you strongly enough NOT to take your loved one to Mayo Clinic Jacksonville for care. Please please be aware that there are Mayo Clinic-initiated policies in place that make pain management impossible for patients who are suffering. My 23-year-old daughter have a subtotal colectomy at the hospital in August 2023, followed by a blood clot and ileus, an extremely painful condition when the muscles of her newly-resected small bowel stop working.

The general surgeon on the floor after she was re-admitted for complications told me it is Mayo Clinic policy NOT to use tools at their disposal that could help - like pain pumps, or even scheduled pain medication. This leaves the patient or their parent/partner having to request pain medicine, wait on a nurse to show up in the room, wait on the nurse to email the doctor, wait on the doctor to consult with the colorectal or other specialty team, wait on a decision, wait on the pharmacy, and then wait for an ineffective dose to be administered, sometimes hours later. It’s been horrific.

On top of that, my daughter laid in bed, naked, with soiled bedding for hours. I changed her myself many times because help took so long to arrive and her skin was damaged already. I bought my own supplies at Target for her. Nothing is offered - not even pillowcases or clean blankets or washcloths - I had to request them each time and consistently felt I was inconveniencing staff with my pleas for basic tools to make my daughter comfortable. She got a UTI while there - unsurprisingly. I sit here as I write this at 2 am listening to her vomit past her NG tube while we have waited more than 30 minutes for a nurse to help us. I provided my medical information, insurance information, and all the other information required prior to the meeting. I received daily reminders from Mayo via text and email, asking me to be sure to have my insurance and medication documents available for the call. I arranged for a nurse relative to attend the call as an advocate.

The phone rang at the appointed time. I was asked for my name and birthdate. The Mayo representative - clearly not a medical professional - announced that Mayo does not accept my insurance (Medicare and United Health Care) and "will not be able to offer an appointment." The treatment I received was cold, completely uncalled for, and disrespectful.

In the first place, why not simply send an email or pick up the phone to let me know right away that the insurance was not acceptable? Time kept marching on while I waited for the phone appointment. And in the second place, how is it that Mayo does not accept Medicare Advantage and United HealthCare? This seems like standard-issue almost universal health coverage. What insurance DO you accept? This has been a horrible experience at a particularly vulnerable time.

First, I would like to say that the scheduling personnel are friendly, helpful and professional. My issue is with being able to get an appointment. I have been a Mayo patient since the early 90's. For many years if you called to get into a department they would schedule you in a relatively short waiting period. The past 5 years, + or -, have been a major disappointment. I just called for an Orthopedic consult for a torn Meniscus and they said they could schedule me for a year from now. I have previously requested appointments with Neurology, Rheumatology, Cardiology and Dermatology. The answer is either no or, "We will schedule you for another year." This is unreasonable and unacceptable.

I have even referred someone with newly diagnosed Cancer and he was told it would be many weeks before he could be seen. Once you are able to get in the care is excellent. I love how your entire history is in the computer and can be accessed by all your doctors. I am most impressed with the doctors and nursing staff. They just seem to be woefully understaffed for the demographic in Arizona. I would implore the administration to please remedy this situation.

Not once were we given a reason and on 2 of the denials, we had to call them to find out because they couldn't be bothered to call us. We were told they needed records they already had. We were told 12 pages of documentation was just too much work to read through and they preferred things to be condensed to 2, and they were caught straight up lying about having a record of a doctor-to-doctor meeting.

They also claimed to have sent us a denial letter on Dec 14th from their spine center, in response to a referral to the rheumatology department that had not been sent until the 15th. All I can really conclude from all of this is that Mayo doesn't actually want tough cases, they want easy ones so they can inflate their numbers of successes. That, or they simply don't want to treat trans people. Either way, they have no business working with vulnerable populations.

As I stated in my introduction, I was more disappointed with the intake process than the outcome per se. For anyone applying to Mayo Clinic for an appointment, be aware (1) the first person you speak to may point you toward Internal Medicine (my case), Neurology, or Orthopedics. Still, they have no expertise to evaluate your case. (2) When you fill out the online form, you're given 300 words and told to describe your PRIMARY complaint. My primary complaint is incurable and untreatable, except for pain management, which is not why I wanted to go to Mayo. My primary complaint centers on the 3 or 4 new symptoms which may or may not be caused by or related to my primary complaint. My current doctors don't talk to each other, so how am I supposed to know? What is very sneaky is you don't get just 300 words to describe your complaint.

As soon as you finish that question and hit NEXT, you find that you have another 300 words to describe other (related) complaints. I regret not getting advice on the Mayo application process from anyone. Not on what to say but rather on how to say it. Secondly, the primary interviewer steered me in the wrong direction by sending me to Internal Medicine, and it was my fault for agreeing with him. Good luck to all of you, and I'm off to Geisinger or, failing that, Hopkins.

I've been dealing with ongoing constant headaches and wanted to come to a solution so my neurologist at USF referred me to the Mayo Clinic up in Jacksonville, FL. Going there was difficult for me seeing how it's a 3ish hour car ride but if it gave me the answers I was looking for, I'd be happy so I could be treated.

I first took the drive from Spring Hill to Jacksonville (over 3 hour drive) and went to Dr. ** and he thought I had hydrocephalus, which was worrying. I was then contacted by his office (a woman named Andrea) that I needed to go for a scan that could only be done at the Mayo Clinic. They told me that I needed to come immediately because they thought I could die. We were told that it was covered by insurance and to be there the next morning.

With traffic, it ended up being a round trip of 7 hours for a normal 15 minute scan that I could have done in my hometown of Spring Hill. After the exam, I was referred to Dr. **, who is amazing. She diagnosed me with the proper diagnosis of pseudotumor cerebri and ways to work on a remedy to the situation. After seeing her, I see a massive charge for the scan I did at Mayo Clinic that day.

I called Mayo Clinic several times asking for a resolution because we were misinformed by them that: 1) I might die if I don't get the scan and 2) Insurance covered this procedure. I don't work, I can't take care of myself, and rely on family to help me due to my condition... so seeing this charge was absurd. Getting there wasn't cheap either, so not only do I get billed in full for that scan, I needed to pay for expenses to get there and back for THEIR error. I repeatedly contacted them and tried to tell them my story several times only to be ignored and referred to the credit agency that my bill was sent to.

The worst part of it all: I can't see Dr. ** to treat me because of this billing discrepancy. I've been told that unless I pay my nearly $3000 outstanding balance, I can't be an active patient there. I did nothing wrong and I'm being screwed over by a company that rather spend countless dollars on advertising telling people how great they are instead of dealing with their errors. I also loved how the Mayo Clinic was in network and was covered by insurance but was barely covered at all for visits as well (deductible was met). To the public: if you're looking for a clinic to go to, DO NOT GO HERE. I'm hoping with my public review, I can finally get some resolution with this because I've been getting the cold shoulder from the Mayo Clinic for a couple years now and I'm still desperate to see Dr. ** about my condition. Thanks.

Dr. ** removed a p-acne-infected shoulder implant another surgeon put in. He then wrote a RX in his name for 6 weeks of IV antibiotics. He said this would take care of the infection and by this summer I would be feeling great again due to his superior surgery? Then without checking for infection before surgery he put a reverse shoulder implant back in. I was called 6 days after surgery saying I was still infected as the biopsy came back positive for p-acne or c-acne bacteria. He stated it was not his fault and he was not responsible even though he wrote the RX for antibiotic drugs. I also totally lost my anterior deltoid muscle. Again he said not his fault. Never had an issue with losing my deltoid from the first operation.

2023 UPDATE: The master surgeon who said, "Don't ask questions as you must trust your physician's every word." His special reverse prosthetic screws failed after 2 years due to his not being able to properly secure the baseplate on a even surface. Don't you have a jig for your drill so you mill a flat surface? Avoid this surgeon, he has a big ego and cannot fulfill his own expectations. Look at the photo of my failed screws. Now, I must have another surgery to fix this surgeon's mistakes. Don't make the same mistake I did!

This physician TK openly acknowledged and stated that he only does what Worker’s Compensation says to do. I’ve always believed that the physician had the upper hand. When did the physician become the puppet? He lied. He’s a hypocrite and I can openly say he has abandoned his oath as a physician and is not to be trusted. The good lord sees all in the righteousness in people. My opinion I would fear for my soul. After reading the doctor's follow up review I can not believe he lied again. Do not trust.

Then she filed a complaint against me. The doctor supported her even though I was following what my doctor had told me! All I can say is the other reviews I don't understand. We've had a grandson that was here with end stage renal disease that they treated and they have been the best hospital that he could have ever gone to. I was sitting on my life's door thinking I wasn't going to make it. When I arrived here I was in really really bad shape. They did surgery on me and took care of me for a week and nurse me back to health. I couldn't have asked for a better team. They're a damn good hospital. Anyone who says different needs to be put in their place. Nothing's perfect. No matter where you go but a lot of times things are what you make them. All I can say is a surgical team that worked on me when my stomach exploded was unbelievable at fixing and they found another problem with my gallbladder. It removed that also so all I can say is I feel better than I felt it a long long time since being here for only one week.

I would highly highly recommend the Mayo Clinic because they've been nothing but good things for me since I've been here. They've done nothing but try to help me the best they can and I feel great at 55. I'm probably going to be leaving today or tomorrow. They want to get me out tomorrow but some issues came up with some equipment I need before I can go home but other than that that's the only complaint that I have which is minuscule. The nursing staff is impeccable. The doctors are remarkable and I would recommend them to anyone who has a problem.

Mayo Clinic is a fine-oiled machine. Mayo's process and systems are extraordinary and impressive. It is what led my husband and I to choose to have his surgery at Mayo over a local doctor. In hindsight, that was a mistake. We were convinced, when talking to the Mayo Clinic doctor, that an orthopedic surgeon (which he was) does the same surgery as a neurosurgeon. Maybe the same surgery, but likely not with the same attention to nerve impact. My husband now has constant neuropathy and discomfort that might not be the case if we'd gone to a neurosurgeon. For those that need back surgery, go to a neurosurgeon.

But we were dazzled by Mayo's excellent intake paperwork, appointments and phone responses -- everything that wraps around Mayo's care. Care: Although the surgery room was impressive, according to my husband, St Mary's hospital felt antiquated and the staff were not able to address my husband's needs during his recovery. One year post surgery the surgeon confirmed that the surgery had been successful and end of story. My husband's neuropathy continues. AND, post-surgery my husband's memory began to fail and has not improved significantly. There are scientific papers on inflammation of the brain post-surgeries. During follow-up conversations, those at Mayo said they had not heard of such a thing.

We returned to Mayo for Neurological testing with the hopes of having a doctor follow my husband and provide treatment. After a week of prodding and poking, the Neurologist provided us with a summary of his diagnosis. When we asked what the next steps would be with him, he looked surprised. He said he was merely there to advise, not to treat, and to return to our PCP for care. What?! Why would we go there if not for treatment? I know there are extraordinary things that come from Mayo Clinic's doctors, research and care. We unfortunately will unlikely return because of our experience there.

We all need to begin by understanding only the most ill people are sent to the Mayo Clinic. After suffering severe debilitating headaches for over a year and undergoing numerous tests, I was sent to the Mayo Clinic. I was sent a packet of information, which I followed. My oxygen level drops while I wear a mask, as the packet explained, I needed to bring a medical mask exemption, which I did. Upon entering the Mayo Clinic, in Rochester, Minnesota we were allowed to enter, but as we stepped onto the elevator, an extremely upset elderly gentleman stuck his hand into the elevator and asked us to leave the building. He exclaimed he had called security to have us removed.

We waited, thinking the next person would be more reasonable, since we had followed the instructions given in the packet, but we were mistaken. It seemed all in charge of allowing entrance to the building, knew nothing about the medical exemption. We were escorted out of the building. We called the "Patient Experience" department. They told us we needed to present the medical exemption, prior to the appointment. We read the "packet" medical exemption information which clearly stated to "bring the medical mask exemption with us".

After driving a day to get to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, we have decided not to return, even if this is the only place to get treatment, ABSOLUTELY NO ONE DESERVES TO BE TREATED LIKE THIS! The message playing, while I was on hold, stated the Mayo Clinic puts their customer needs as the most important. This is clearly not our experience. As we got back on the bus, the driver let us know there have been several others, who have done exactly what the instructions stated, and were also expelled from the clinic. We don't trust anything they say, once being treated this way, while being so ill.

The last suggestion left was to try physical therapy which I did. Again, no improvement. Finally, I started doing my own research and discovered the micro-denervation procedure that the Mayo clinic offers. I called right away excited that this might help with the pain. I spent about a half hour on the phone relaying details of my condition with a woman who sounded very caring at first. Several times she excused herself and put me on hold. It was pretty clear that she was speaking with someone else on the side.

Finally, she returned with an apology and advice that I continue treatment with my current urologist. I said I don't understand. I repeated that they had run out of ideas and did not offer the procedure I was interested in. The woman went on to explain that they are very busy and cannot help everyone. Needless to say, I got very angry and went off on her for getting my hopes up. I sat down on the couch and cried afterward. I wasn't expecting them to get me in the next day to do the procedure. There isn't any organization on Earth with a more undeserved reputation than Mayo Clinic. I'd heard so much about how amazing they are, the place to get answers and help when no one else can. That's a lie, plain and simple. Mayo Clinic should be well known for its true colors, which is exceptional levels of rudeness, horrid non care of patients, an overwhelmed ER who not only is incapable of handling patients (socially, intellectually, medically, any manner you can think of) but refuse to do so even if they could. I half wonder if refusal to serve is a cover up for inadequacy and terrible staffing.

Mayo Clinic ER Jacksonville treated my wife's extreme pain, numbness, neck stiffness, immobility, vomiting, etc from a Lumbar Puncture like a nuisance to them. That's after we spent all day chasing down her physician through terrible customer service reps or assistants who wanted to blame her for everything. It was clear what they wanted was to make their job as easy as possible by trying to discourage care even when it's the very thing they told us to watch for and contact that immediately so that they could do a certain procedure to resolve the issue. They also gave us wrong instructions at first, then later blamed us for following the given instructions.

After over 24hrs of call after call after call we finally hear back. We're told to run to the ER, that they called down and that the ER is aware we are coming and we will get the procedure and services we need. We did exactly that, and they outright said they're not going to do that. Just downright refusal. Their nurses walked past my wife wallowing on the floor of the er, vomiting and in agony, even lost bladder control it was so bad. What did Mayo do? Scolded her like a child, told her to get off the floor and quit making a scene, and to sit in a chair despite the fact that sitting up was far worse than lying down. Then asked her if she wanted a towel or something to go dry her pants off. When she's immobile, in agony, vomiting profusely, etc.

Sure, that's why we paid you! To make her feel like she's a nuisance for complications from a procedure Mayo did, for their wrong directions, late response, and either straight up lies about what they'd do when we got to the ER or else the ER lied and said they would and then refused. There is no way to slice it. This hospital system is a total fraud. I'm going to have to call out insurance about them. She literally would have been better off to go to McDonald's for help, she'd at least be able to lie on a bench without being harassed briefly. If they didn't lie to us about how they were going to help we'd have never even gone in and had her spend 8hrs suffering abuse in public for absolutely nothing but scorn from Mayo. 100% of this place belongs in the recycle bin and permanently deleted. I see no reason for it to exist.

Maybe my insurance will consider paying the other ER patients who weren't being seen to either who helped my wife in the lobby far more than any Mayo staff did. Out of their depth, massively overinflated ego and reputation, and literally worse than any no name small town hospital I've ever been to. I can't possibly recommend avoiding them at all costs enough. If someone I could post a review that the whole world could instantly see and embrace and it was crickets and boarded up windows at Mayo tomorrow, I would do it in a heartbeat. For justice. To save lives and stop the travesty that is this place.

But let's be clear, the building isn't guilty of anything. It's their people that are rotten and worthless, under educated, woefully incapable, and with poor social adjustment. I wouldn't want them teaching my kids kindergarten. I don't think any business could ever be a larger disappointment. Congratulations, lifetime achievement award as the biggest letdown to ever exist. Seriously, close your doors. If you care for people, go drive trash trucks for a living and take your trash excuse for services and put them in that garbage where they and you all belong.

I must say I'm extremely disappointed in the Mayo Clinic's treatment of my husband. We were first informed by the Mayo Clinic that my husband had hemochromatosis which is a genetic disease which runs in his family. During his care with the Mayo Clinic he was forced to endure treatment as though he was a alcoholic even though we were social drinkers and he didn't abuse alcohol. He was required to attend 12 weeks of AA and Intensive Outpatient Therapy 3 to 4 times a week 3 to 4 hours per day for 3 months, or he would not be eligible, put on the transplant list or even considered for or a liver…even if he had a private donor. It is extremely disappointing that so much emphasis was placed on alcoholism he didn’t have.

His last visit to the Phoenix facility we were told he was extremely ill and they were going to admit him. But since they didn’t have room, they made him sit in the hospital lobby for seven plus hours. I asked if we could leave and go get breakfast and they said no. After 7 hours of sitting in the lobby he was taken to the ER. The month prior to him being admitted we were required to fill out the paperwork for DNR. They did not abide by the paperwork, instead When I arrived at the Mayo Clinic the next day they had done all sorts of things to him to try to save him even though he was a DNR. When I asked them about the DNR they were completely clueless, as though they had no record of the paperwork they required us to submit. He continued to receive medication that would not do anything to help. I requested they send a Palliative care doctor and she agreed what they were doing was unnecessary.

It's too late for My husband, he passed away. But the final topper to the experience was having his death certificate show cause of death as alcoholism. Fortunately we were able to show the Report from the Clinic regarding the hemochromatosis and they agreed to change his cause of death. After the Experience I have to give them one star for treatment he received.

She is an 82-year-old pensioner on private insurance that does not cover out-of-network facilities at all. She was hospitalized for 2 weeks and survived but only for Mayo to now harass her with emails continuously that despite having appealed her insurance company to help, she has to pay $37k up front immediately or be sent to collections, have her credit ruined, etc.

This is disgusting behavior. They were told in the ER that she has to be transferred because she (we, even) cannot afford to pay for a stay there and was told clearly that she would be transferred if she needs admission. Then once admitted, we were told she can’t be. Not because she was unstable for transport but because they said that they just don’t as a governor’s decree would have her covered as an in-network. I still insisted because I was told they balance bill (“surprise billing”) but they refused. Now they harass and bully an 82 year old woman who has barely the income to exceed the poverty line and who just survived Covid for the rest of her years? I tried to explain that there was nothing to speak to my primary care doc about, since the only treatment for my conditions is surgery and I hadn't had any surgeries, hence the problems would still exist.

I went to see my primary care doc anyway and he had minimal to say except "Yes, you should see a specialist." I called Mayo back after my doctor's office faxed over the notes from my appointment. I called back for weeks and they couldn't find the notes, hence I still could not make an appointment. About a month later I finally got someone at Mayo to remove the need for a doc referral/notes, but then was told I couldn't make an appointment because they were all booked up for months to come. They suggested I continue to call back to see if anyone had cancelled.

It's now 10 months later and they told me that the department I am trying to see is not accepting new patients. This is AFTER I waited on hold for about 30 minutes (and had been transferred 2 times). It would have been nice for any of the first two people I spoke to had known that the department wasn't accepting new patients as it could have saved me the 30 minutes and a lot of frustration.

That said, I was rightfully frustrated, and let the woman I was speaking to know that and started to explain the history of this issue. She said her notes didn't say that I needed a doctor's referral/notes. That further frustrated me because I know what I was asked to do (hence why I did it) so to try to tell me what I know to be true was not correct simply because it wasn't in her notes was ridiculous. I got more frustrated (never cursing/saying anything inappropriate) and was hung up on. Well, I think she knew I wouldn't be calling back because no way was I going to wait another 30 minutes on the phone. Absolutely atrocious, especially when someone is worried about precancer/cancer. Ten months makes a big difference. I will not be coming back to Mayo. Hello HonorHealth (who got me in within 10 min of calling)!

I had been having a skin issue since May last year. I sought many dermatologists who gave no answers and didn’t test. It got progressively worse and went to Mayo in Wisconsin. Dr. **: HERO. He was brave enough to say “I don’t know what’s this is but let me refer you to Rochester where they have larger resources.“ Based on a few suspicious issues he lists perforated folliculitis as one possibility. I brought hair samples to Rochester because it could show if follicles were damaged. We were wondering if a salon damaged scalp by not washing product entirely out. My visit ended up in ER where I was found to have Covid.

Unknown to me they were using my hair issue to state me as “delusional?” What professional hospital doesn’t know that one can’t make that diagnosis based on never ruling out things available...as say the hair sample? What an outrage to be told I had Covid yet they were just sneaking around calling family without consent to label me Delusional Parasites as primary reason I was there? I was floored to see that diagnosis. I never had any doctors hint about that. I have learned it’s a top money maker with Medicare. Sooooo...in two weeks I return to have al this stuff checked out to get to bottom of my skin issue. Dr. ** helped to get me in sooner as my body became ridden with marks everywhere. I showed places that were obviously insect stings and lesions with nits.

At my appointment on May 25 a Mayo dermatologist took 15 minutes with me. He had seen the places where the nits were along with the stings where it looked as if it was flesh eating parasites. He did not rule that out. He never did anything but take pictures of my arms and legs ridden with marks ..eaten alive. He did a biopsy on what he choose. I had biopsies done ruing our celiac disease. He didn’t do bloodwork at all? I had post Covid issues? He was referred based on finding out my derm issue. He didn’t talk to me ever again. He ruled me "Delusional Parasites” within 48 hours. He ignored any guidelines to rule out underlying issues. One would have been my Covid... yet no bloodwork. Another would have been why I was there? Unreal. He based it on the prior Mayo visit to ER saying I was delusional. I’m a journalist and fact checker.

Since then I researched why this would be going on so much here. It’s a top money maker based on how complicated people with DP are. Yet I was never treated ...sigh. My take is its fraud across the table. I have returned home and within a month that label had me committed to psych for two days. I was found normal and guess what? I have parasites. I have had them for 7 months. My skin issue is real. I now have to begin the journey of finding out what ones in particular. We are mailing out slides to Johns Hopkins team. My disgust is unreal. There is no accountability either. I tried to get in touch with doctor to beg him to test what needed to be tested. He never talked to me once after that 15 minute “showing”. Medicare paid $7900 for that hour. It's a story I find worth investigating. The poor people who truly are DP need a voice.

The way I was treated only strong people can survive. The ones that who truly suffer take their lives, lose hope and more. I call it “The Decent into Nothingness”. This place ruined my chances to be treated. They write their stories and don’t use facts. This is not the Mayo that used to exist. Had the dermatologist not want top dollar...and actually listen to me. I would have had teams working together and Mayo would have made close to the $100,000 now paid to separate doctors. I have been to 6 places where all have confirmed the parasite issue. They have since found perforated folliculitis, election issues and more. I have Been referred to Rush: and the top dermatologist there because of how complicated my case is. Mayo did nothing. They allowed the doctor to ignore me. They are not the same.

I think the real reason might be only the connected and wealthy donors get preferential treatment...or treatment at all. I brought my daughter to the Mayo Clinic in Florida because they advertise themselves as a comprehensive care facility. They do not participate in my insurance which is United Health Care Oxford and they charged me over 10K out of pocket not to mention air travel and hotels etc that I had to spend. There was no communication between the disciplines, no follow up and no treatment prescribed. We had to ask for certain tests etc to be done. For example the gastroenterologist told my daughter should should probably get used to being fat. The gynecologist said she does not deal with PCOS which by the way is an ovarian disease.

I would be happy to provide further details, I am an RN myself and I can say this is the worst medical care I have ever seen in every department we interacted with. They did NOTHING for my daughter. I have since brought her up to NJ to see her previous endocrinologist and she is doing better and getting better. She picked up problems in the blood work that Mayo clinic did not. I made a formal complaint to the Mayo clinic and their review is that they gave my daughter appropriate care. They did nothing. I would never recommend anyone to this despicable facility.

One here’s about how wonderful the Mayo Clinic is, however my experiences have been nothing less than desirable. If the Mayo Clinic doctors are going to provide their email addresses, then read them, correspond to them and not ignore them. If you have too many people where you can’t properly respond to email correspondence, then do not provide that way of communication, or at least have someone correspond.

I reached out to a Dr. Jeffery ** at the MN Mayo Clinic because he was highly recommended with persons having unresolved diagnosis or issues with PPPD. I was reaching out for my son. I emailed Dr. ** on 6/1/21 and have yet to get a response from anyone regarding that email. My son also did an online submitted form with the Mayo Clinic in March of 2021, with no response. After his submittal he received an email that someone would reach out to him within several days.

As of today, he has never received any correspondence at all via email or telephone contacts. He finally called them himself and got the run around about how their process even works at any of their facilities in MN, FL or AZ. If the Mayo Clinic can’t handle the amount of people traffic that are reaching out for medical help, then shut your site down or let people know they aren’t taking any more submittals. When people are reaching out for medical issues, they are reaching out for a reason. We are not reaching to get our cars fixed, we are reaching out for health reasons. Either be on top of it professionally or let people know you can’t help them…pretty simple.

I wish I could give a negative star review. I nearly moved to Rochester to live permanently near Mayo Clinic. I wish I had found this page of reviews before I began the process of trying to get urgent care for a life-threatening, rare skull-based tumor and eventually other conditions. As other complex patients who don't have top insurance have mentioned here, Mayo Clinic can be a huge waste of time and money for people in certain demographics who don't meet Mayo Clinic's financial, patient and possibly social target market expectations. Other than possible sexism with two male doctors, I can think of no other reasons for the horrible experiences with Mayo Clinic Rochester personnel than my complex health history that includes several rare and difficult to treat conditions and my Medicaid and financial situation.

Staff failed to follow up about important scheduling related changes. A serious miscommunication between Mayo Clinic personnel in different offices and also with my referring physician resulted eventually in patient abandonment with the latter. I experienced what I can only describe as fraud by a doctor who went through with a highly expensive telehealth appointment and claimed repeatedly that he made an accurate assessment of my case even though his assistant admitted that he hadn't reviewed everything and they both admitted in writing to not reviewing clear images after Mayo Clinic personnel somehow created poor scans from clear images on my discs. Both doctors were unprepared for the appointment and I was given an inaccurate diagnosis as a result. I know it's inaccurate because I had already received past accurate assessments from other separate specialists who had similar things to say about my case.

The surgeon I was supposed to speak with was also removed from the appointment slot without anyone telling me after I waited approximately two months for the appointment with both specialists, lost the referring doctor after the physician referral line refused to take his written referral and demanded a verbal one, and even even lost work to intermittent nausea from calling in almost daily to check for earlier cancellation appointments because they don't have a wait list. Many staff members were also more focused on the necessity of their own financial assistance program for my case than they were on my symptoms or urgent need for treatment.

Ultimately, after I spoke up about my concerns, the doctor who didn't fully review my scans wouldn't acknowledge the life-threatening symptoms as even possible and refused to mention those symptoms and the fact that they were previously referenced by other specialists in their clinician's note, which they also knew would place me in a situation of being unable to get the various types of help needed to move to Rochester and hit the ground running upon arrival test-wise while waiting for Medicaid approval. Otherwise, self-pay patients are expected to pay a $5,000 deposit even if they're eligible for Medicaid. The doctor acted aggressively and unprofessionally on follow ups. He also showed absolutely no care or concern that I was feeling too sick to take his call and insisted that I had to speak with him out of the blue when he called me rather than schedule a time.

I'm disgusted by the whole experience. It was a huge waste of time and money. I'll now have to waste more to find a surgical team at a different hospital system while hoping and praying that my worsening symptoms don't result in severe debilitation or death because of the delays. I'm also disgusted because all signs pointed to them taking my case and I spent a lot of time researching Rochester and local resources. Even though the doctor said they would take my case during the appointment and in their clinical note, their fraudulent behavior, the miscommunications and their not following through with addressing all of my actual symptoms and situation makes me feel like I wouldn't get the best care possible and that all of the delays and failures were done on purpose to discourage me from becoming a Mayo Clinic patient.

The site recommends a meal plan that you can choose to use. However, it will at times suggest the same foods for multiple meals in one day. Some meals suggested in the first weeks violate the goals of those weeks. Ultimately this is another 1200 (women)/1400 (men) KCal per day diet. This one emphasizes following the food pyramid and avoiding red meat and sugar. Otherwise, we've all seen this before. If you can follow it, you can lose weight. The website offered does not necessarily help you follow the plan. I was seen told my x-ray as well as labs were fine however my blood pressure was still high and I need to follow up with my primary. I did explain while there I had a headache as well. I was given a prescription for heartburn medicine. I was never aware what I was given at discharge, just told I would be given a RX, take it for 10 days even if I felt better.

I get home google it, it is for heartburn and I don’t have heartburn, I woke up this morning head still hurting so I called in to the ER, explained my name is Ebony and I was seen there yesterday...instant rudeness, thick attitude, being told like I said, just so unprofessional for a front receptionist to treat anyone in this manner, I then explained to her I understood and that wasn’t my question, I also asked for her name, she immediately put me on hold, never gave her name. I waited every bit of 5 minutes, she picked up, said nothing and put me on hold again.

Finally a guy gets on and introduced himself as Gordon, he wasn’t rude at all, I asked for the name of the person I had just spoken with, he said her name was Ericka, I asked for Ericka's supervisor and was told that information can’t be given out, I asked how can I make a complaint because she was very rude and nasty to me, he stated... The complaint off and gave me #480-342-2651. He then explained to me the very question I asked ‘Ericka’ if there was someone I could speak with about this matter after being told by her pull up my discharge papers, as if it would tell me why I received heartburn medicine for high blood pressure.

I called back just to make sure I had the correct name to report and what do you know, she answers again. I asked if there was a Ericka and was told by her they can give out names of who you speak with. Funny to me because Gordon the team leader gave his name and possibly her name if that was her name. Just wanted to say totally rude and disgusting to me. I don’t know if it’s because I’m not a ** female but I will do her a favor, Ericka that is, and never return. Once I’m shown I’m not welcomed that’s all it takes. Be advised and very aware that your health isn’t priority to all health care providers, I now have to take time out my day a seek medical attention yet again. Father God please help us.

The insurance company has stated they will pay their portion with the correct paperwork. Mayo will not help. They said they would 'look into it.'

The insurance company has twice asked Mayo for the paperwork. Mayo will not respond. The ENT will not respond. The insurance company has stated that it was/is up to Mayo to retroactively file the correct paperwork. Mayo knows full well they need to get their paperwork in order before performing surgeries! I have already paid at least my portion (with the correct paperwork being filed) of the bill. Now Mayo is sending this to a collection agency.

Even the insurance company is trying to help me, but Mayo has said nothing in over a year (remember, they were supposedly 'looking into it.') I have spoken to them. Written them two letters asking for help. Now I get a letter saying I owe the full amount. How do you fight a dysfunctional and corrupt system? Somebody or department (billing?) (compliance?) at Mayo gave up on this issue and passed it along to the 'collections department.' I will not ever deal with Mayo Health System again. I traveled to the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona after being referred by the Medical director of our local hospital in WA state. I have been dealing with severe, crippling, fatigue and nearly 60 pounds of unexplained weight loss in the last year, daily chronic headaches, an inability to concentrate and more. It’s been more than a year since I have been able to spend more than just a few hours out of bed in a day. We were thrilled when Mayo said they would see me. We knew of their reputation for group diagnostic determination and the ability to work with a patient to get to the bottom of often rare and difficult to diagnose conditions. I live out of state, so I had to fly in the middle of the pandemic, knowing that I was putting my own health at risk, but I was desperate for the appointment.

Looking back, I should have stayed home. I arrived eager to meet my doctor and begin the Mayo process. Unfortunately, my whole experience was over in about 20 minutes. The doctor I met with told me that she didn’t think my problem was endocrine related, although she also admitted she didn’t know what was wrong with me. Rather than referring to other doctors in the Mayo system to do further diagnostic work she said she would run some basic screens for thyroid, diabetes, and a celiac screen (which had all been done by my local doctors prior to my coming to Mayo) - as well as repeat I test I had done just a month before at home that she said was normal for cortisol function.

After that she said I could return home. All of the screens came back normal, yet I haven’t heard again from the doctor even after asking who might I see next to get the bottom of my symptoms. It turns out that Mayo is all hype - no substance. I’ve never met a doctor who was less curious than the one I was assigned, and for all that Mayo likes to brag about patients meeting with a team of physicians to get to the correct diagnosis - well, that’s just myth. Save your money. Find some place to get care where they live up to their own advertising. I for one am still quite ill with no one from Mayo helping us get to the bottom of what’s wrong.

I moved to Minnesota (MN) to go to Mayo for a rare form of blood cancer. Where I'd lived, the doctors didn't know how to help me. During the shutdown in March 2020, Mayo abandoned me and all their patients even though the MN governor said that the chronically and severely ill were to still get care (the other health systems in MN didn't do like Mayo). When Mayo reopened, I was told they wouldn't give me the care they'd promised and I would die as a result. Mayo has a reputation among the locals (laymen, doctors outside of Mayo, and gov't officials alike) as only caring about profit. Because they shutdown totally and "had to" take care of poor people with Covid-19, they lost a lot of profit for 2020. My insurance didn't pay well, so they decided to let me die.

When I complained, Mayo retaliated by permanently banning me from their clinic. So I complained to the state and was told by the MN Dept. of Health (MDH) said that Mayo's actions were "morally wrong," but legal under MN law. They can abandon patients, neglect patients even if they hurt or kill them, and ban patients permanently.

I was told by MDH that Mayo was known for turning away patients and neglecting them; especially if they had gov't insurance like Medicare. When I talked to the Office of the Commissioner of the MN Dept. of Human Services, they told me Mayo is known for arbitrarily banning patients. No one I've met in the last 11 months in MN likes Mayo and I don't blame them. I moved over 2,000 miles and spent money I didn't have for nothing. Stay away from Mayo unless you want to waste your time and money and risk death from neglect. They're horrible. Their ethics really are in the toilet (as doctors outside the Mayo health system have told me).

I was very hopeful about going to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, as I have been suffering from an undiagnosed condition for the past 2+ years. There was a lot of testing and consults completed the first time I came. Most of the physicians seemed nice, and willing to listen, except for the neurologist. After thoroughly going through my symptoms with his med student, he came in. Since my referral to him only stated "for numbness/tingling in my hands," that was literally ALL he addressed. (This was not even my main concern, only something I had occasionally). He completely disregarded all of the other things I spoke about, and ONLY wrote about the numbness/tingling in his H&P note. He refused to do anything else.

The most notable finding on this trip was on an abdominal CT scan. I was so disappointed leaving this first time, and even left the place sobbing, because I thought they would find something definite, and give me a diagnosis. But, the plan was for me to return in 1-2 months, after I completed a few more tests at home. The first real problem started here. I tried for 2 months to set up a procedure at home, and after digging further, I learned that Mayo Clinic had refused to send the order form to my surgeon at home (despite us agreeing on doing this). Now, a procedure that should have been done a couple of weeks after leaving Mayo ended up taking 3 months. Apparently Mayo Clinic doesn't want ANYONE else to complete tests/make money but them.

Fast forward to when I returned to Mayo Clinic. Several of the tests/appointments that should have been scheduled, as discussed with my physician previously, were not scheduled. There was also NO follow up about the abnormal CT results, which I thought was one of the main reasons for returning. Additionally, the other providers I consulted with this time were so narrow-minded, and again ONLY looked at the one disease that I was referred for, and ignored everything else. I am a healthcare provider myself, and this was just absurd! I would never do this to my patients. Needless to say, after being here for a full week, which included staying over the weekend, I gained nothing, and left completely disappointed and in tears... yet again.

One last note is how ridiculously concerned they are about contracting COVID-19. They make you sit in the exam room all the way at the far side of the room (which is okay, but a little much). But, there were several providers that would NOT EVEN PERFORM A PHYSICAL EXAM on you or get close to you. It makes you feel like you are already diseased. If you cannot come in close contact with your patients, then why on earth did you become a healthcare provider?!? That is downright NOT acceptable. Again, I would never do that to my patients. I was expecting this to be a place to go when your providers at home cannot figure out your diagnosis. I was VERY wrong. These providers do NOT care about helping you. Do NOT waste your time or money coming here. All you will get is disappointment.

While I've been treated with respect by most Mayo Clinic staff, I was quite disillusioned by a red-faced, white-haired male transplant doc (not a surgeon) I met with for an office visit. He was defensive about the smallest comments I made that he seemed to think were criticisms. I wasn't trying to be critical about Mayo's assessment process, which rejected all seven of the kidney donor applicants of mine. He also made me feel like I haven't been aggressive enough in trying to find a donor. I expected more from a man who is paid hundred of thousands of dollars to do his job (doctors are overpaid, and have been since the Rockefellers set up the allopath monopoly that has resulted in the U.S. having the most expensive health care in the world, while it ranks 40th or worse in the world in terms of citizens' health. Allopathy, with its drugs and knives tools, is effective at acute care, but dismal at chronic care.)

After 8 long years of poor care with rheumatologists here in Phoenix I finally had to do my own research. By my 8th year my pain was severe so I finally decided to go to Mayo SCOTTSDALE. My appt was with Dr. **. I provided medical history and a request from my current rheumatologist to have a second opinion on my condition. His job was simple.

First and foremost he needed to know my rare disease that I figured out no less was Relapsing Polychondritis and often fatal autoimmune disease. This doctor was beyond reckless. He not only didn’t know RP when it was looking straight at him along with over 100 photos. So much was provided by myself. This Dr. Didn’t know anything about RP. Consequently, he took me off all meds and sent me on my way with a ridiculous diagnosis of osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia. No proof of fibro at all. I already knew of this so he did nothing and got me so terribly sick. Because of this it took nearly a year to get back on treatment. I don’t know of the damage he’s caused. I’ve been to the hospital with aneurysms also caused from severe vasculitis. Now they sent me to collections after a year which I refuse to pay. No one there would handle my complaint either. They definitely took time off my life and no I’ll never return.

Same thing in 2017, when my wife required specialized back surgery. They need cash! This policy of refusing care goes against the founding principles of the Mayo Clinic. Medicare with supplemental insurance pays 100% of the cost based on recognized fair stated value! They need more money. When I asked when this could be scheduled the Oncologists said I would receive a phone call for the appointed time from Radiology. I also told the Oncologist I had a pacemaker which would require coordination between the pacemaker company rep and the scheduled MRI. I was told ok and I would hear soon and I could leave now.

I went to check out and was told No more information or follow-up was needed and I could leave for home. I live over 3 hours away. After being home for 3 days I called to inquire why no follow-up for my MRI. I was told my MRI WAS SCHEDULED on this day and I missed the appointment on the day I called. I further found out no Pacemaker Rep had been coordinated with the MRI on this date. This is patient neglect as my Oncologist stated my cancer was growing and I needed this MRI before chemotherapy.

Two weeks later and still no appointment. And last night I received an automated call I miss my appointment that I had with my Oncologist, Dr. **. I have lost all confidence in Mayo of Jacksonville, fl. I also think it's in the public interest to know the lack of quality for patient centered care exists at Mayo. My husband's local ENT doctor called Mayo Phoenix campus for a appointment for his severe ear pain and loss of hearing. Mayo called and asked my husband for copies of all MRI scans and medical records before his appointment date. He complied. We drove 390 miles to Phoenix for our January 30, 2020 appointment. When we arrived our "doctor" turned out to not be a doctor but only an audiologist. He came in the room asked, "Why are you here? Did you make this appointment yourself?" We realized then that neither he nor anyone had taken the time to review the MRIs and medical file we had sent nor realized our appointment was by our doctor's referral. All the audiologist wanted to do was perform a hearing test. We did not want a hearing test. We asked to see a doctor.

The audiologist's demeanor was arrogant and rude. He continued to interrupting us. He told us the otolaryngologist (ear doctor) was very particular in choosing his patients and he did not choose us. He might, however, arrange for us to see a physician's assistant. Mayo should have had the courtesy to give us this information with a phone call before we invested in the long trip, boarded our pet and rented a hotel. We said we were disappointed and did not come all this way for a hearing test which we can, and did, already get at home. He suggested we file a complaint with the patient-hospital liaison, which we did. I asked the liaison what the process was in determining which medical staff we were chosen to see. She said it was done by non-medical personnel who answered a yes-no questionnaire. Seems to be an extremely unprofessional practice in assigning doctors (or no doctors as in our case.)

I'm sure absolutely nothing will come out of our complaint. The liaison said we would not be charged for our visit. How generous of them especially because no services were rendered. We left the hospital having had no procedures done, speaking with no doctors, and being badly treated. Take this review to heart. This "wonderful, life saving hospital with a team of experts to help you" is not what it says to be. Find another hospital!

I sought an MD, not a PA, NP or fellow under this circumstance.

Mayo had extra days approved for me to remain in-patient and took advantage by keeping me there when it was not medically necessary. So they were fired. Mayo has until Dec 31, 2019 to submit the approval for my 6/27/2018 pet scan to my insurance (GEHA) or I am responsible for thousands $. I went to Mayo in Feb 2018 for pet scan and a preauthorization was done from GEHA which was good until May 2. The second pet scan was performed on 6/27/2018 and Mayo never did a preauthorization but had it in system as approved. GEHA said no pre-authorization approval number was given to Mayo. Later, GEHA denied the claim and notified Mayo in 2018 to re-submit as retro approval and as medical necessity. Mayo until now never submitted in timely manner.

I called Mayo again on Nov 26 and again on Dec 16, 2019 and had an hour long three way conversation with Mayo and GEHA. I keep calling Mayo and they say they are working on resubmitting the approval to GEHA. This has been going on more than a year. Their billing department sucks. I, as a patient should have never been involved in provider and insurance billing. I am having bad holidays because of Mayo. I would never go to Mayo again.

My wife is currently a patient at Mayo Clinic Phoenix Arizona. In two days we will begin week #5 of our hospital stay from a back surgery that was performed back on November 8th. The hospital surgery and stay was supposed to last 5-7 days. We were prepared and expected a two day stay in ICU which was exactly what happened. I would also like to say that the nursing staff, especially in the ICU have been absolutely fantastic. Unfortunately I cannot say the same about my interaction with the other departments.

Approximately 20 hours after be moved from ICU to a regular hospital room she was sent back to the ICU. What followed was about a 10 day stay in ICU under heavy sedation and with a breathing tube. In a nutshell following the surgery she has had pneumonia, the flu, blood clots which apparently it took them a couple of days to tell us. Additionally she has experienced episodes of mental instability for lack of a different word.

To add to that she has been on tube feedings since the surgery because she is not able to swallow correctly. Still trying to figure out how that happened since she has had no swallowing issues for over 70 years prior to the surgery. The coordination with trying to get my wife into a rehabilitation facility closer to home has been horrible. There have been other issues as well. My wife came into the hospital as a relatively healthy woman that was able to at least walk around the block now has pretty much been bedridden without the ability to swallow.

When we did our research as to where to consider having the surgery it appears Mayo was our best option. US News & World Report rated this hospital as #1 in Arizona and #11 in the country. From our experience with care and staff, with the exception being the nurses, I wonder how much money Mayo paid the magazine for their rating. If anyone out there knows of a good medical lawyer in Arizona I would be extremely grateful. J.S.- Retired Navy Veteran. This is not right and the facility should be held accountable.

I was told the urology department needed to "approve" the patients before we could make an appointment. That "someone would have to review the case".

So I made the effort to gather all the information they said they needed, (various test results, MRI, Pathology report etc) and sent it FEDEX. After almost two weeks from my first phone call Pam, the appointment secretary finally calls us back to say we couldn't make an appointment. Her reason....not enough doctors. If you aren't going help someone with CANCER why waste two weeks of their precious time waiting and hoping for an appointment when you don't have enough doctors??? So disappointed with the tone and manner of the current Mayo clinic.

I was referred by my cardiologist in June of 2019 who trained at Mayo. He wanted to cover all the options and I felt secure in the decision. I met with the Dr. in Early September 2019. This is the first time I ever saw a Dr. whose card said "Consultant". They apologized for the long period it took to get in to see them and was assured that the process would move quickly. That was a complete lie.

I quoted data to them on Heart Transplant recipients' survival rates and was told I was in error. They were surprised to learn that my source for the information was the Mayo Clinic web portal. I never saw the Dr. or another Dr. during the process. I was hospitalized 3 times for heart attacks during the process. Information was never offered and the staff was upset that I had the nerve to ask what was next. Mayo while notified of my hospitalization never wanted the records.

I was put through a Cardiac Stress test that everyone told them would not end well. I passed out in the first 45 seconds of the test and it was stopped. I was told I just didn't try hard enough and a second cardiac stress test was scheduled. I was told this time it would be on a bike not a treadmill so everything would be okay. When I arrived for the stress test, I was told they don't use a bike and that they could tell from my records that I would not have a successful test and they refused the Doctor's orders and would not conduct the test. I will have to check with my insurance, but I am sure they will be billed for the test.

Later that day, I was scheduled for a Right Heart Cath. The Dr. who I had not seen in over 2 months arrived and he was upset because I didn't get to do his stress test. I asked him why he wanted a stress test when there was a recent film from a left heart cath. He was surprised to learn of its existence. You are not sedated for a right heart cath. And yet no results were shared, instead I must return in the morning for the results. This increases billable hours. The other thing Mayo does is to have you arrive early for a visit they call a check in. Insurance is billed for both visits. There is a Copay for only the main visit. I had 5 lab visits and with each they included a random drug test. All drug test were negative and there is nothing random about them.

I had to see a social worker from Mayo and that it was required by my insurance. I learned that was a lie. Yes it was not my insurance that required it. I was also told my Mayo that they were the only facility in Arizona that did Heart Transplants. Banner Tucson. Formerly The University of Arizona Medical Center does in fact do frequent transplants and their record is much better than Mayo and dates back to some of the very first transplants done in the US long before Mayo existed.

I found out about Banner Tucson from my Insurance company and the transplant coordinator they assigned to make sure my procedures are a successful. Yes the insurance company cares more than Mayo about my Health. My insurance company's transplant coordinator told me that even though what I was going through with Mayo was horrific, I should see it through giving me 2 options instead of one. United Healthcare has been outstanding going far beyond my expectations. I will update this review after my 2 appointments with the Dr. Tomorrow if things change.

To be honest I could have received the same care or better in Toronto. The physicians were friendly, but I was no better off after spending close to $20k.

My main frustration is actually with the billing department - for an institution such as this, that receives many foreign patients who bring in a lot of money - it is both shocking and appalling how poorly it is run and just how unprofessional it is. The billing is by no means transparent and at no point do you get a paper copy itemized bill as one would expect to be the bare minimum. The items on the billing portion of the app disappeared following my visit so it was also impossible to look back at. The Mayo will not provide ANY service without it being paid for beforehand, no matter how small the cost - yet many months after my visit I received a call from a debt collector saying I owed another few thousand?!

This was without any accompanying explanation as to where this additional cost came from. It has been 9 months of going back and forth with the billing dept and STILL trying to get a comprehensive bill. I completely agree with the other comments stating the billing dept and the people in it are either inept... or it is fraudulent and a scam - that is what it is starting to feel like!!!

For some reason the MRI Dr, ** ordered, required me to sign a Notice of Non Coverage in the event the MRI was a frivolous procedure. This protects Medicare from being billed inappropriately. I have had numerous MRIs over the past six (6) years and have never had a bill declined.

When I contacted Mayo billing dept regarding the wrong Medicare code on the billing, I was told to contact the coding dept. The coding department would not provide me with the Medicare code that was placed on Dr. **'s order. Coding department told me I had to contact Accounting Services to obtain the billing code. I understand this is a practice used by Mayo in order to make more money by billing me full price, rather than settle for the Medicare scheduled payment amount. As far as I'm concerned, this is a scam used for people on Medicare.

May 2019, saw Gastro doc & nurse practitioner at the Jacksonville campus. Was explaining about trapped burps I'd been having and the doc said, "I know what your problem is!" I was excited and asked what it was. He said, "You gulp air!" I laughed and said, "No, no I don't gulp air. I breathe just as I've always breathed...in through my nose and out through my mouth." Then he went on to insist that "we all change as we grow older..." I, again stated, "Really, I don't gulp air." Then he asked me if I burped in my sleep. I couldn't believe he'd just asked me that, because, well, if I'm ASLEEP, I wouldn't know, right? So I give him a look like, "You can't be serious!" -- at least those were my thoughts as I looked at him.

I turned to my husband, who had that same look to his face and we both tried not to laugh, as we were both thinking the same thing. He finally said, "I don't ever recall her burping in her sleep, but then again, I'm usually asleep, too. But I'll be sure to try and pay attention." Then a bunch of tests were ordered that would take 4 days to complete. I later cancelled them because I wasn't sure my insurance would cover them on such short notice. I did end up getting the MRI in early Aug. 2019. That is a whole other fiasco. I've had MRI's done before and typically they tell you to inhale deeply, now hold your breath (for several seconds), and now you can breathe.

Well, with this one I was told, "Inhale deeply, now exhale, now hold it (try this at home, really...no air in your lungs and hold it for 17 seconds) and then, now you can breathe." I honestly couldn't go without breathing for that long and my husband was in the room and he later told me he'd tried it and couldn't do it. It literally felt like when you're under water and run out of air and surface, breathing in deeply. My husband later asked me if I realized how many times I was told to do that and I said, "I don't know, like 7?" He said, "More like 20!" Okay, seriously, this is scary. I could've had a heart attack or something following the instructions to a T.

But, because I couldn't NOT BREATHE and it's kind of a natural, automatic response to INHALE within a few seconds of exhaling, I lasted maybe 6-9 seconds. Part of the radiologist's report stated, "Glucagon refused by patient," and "Extensive respiratory motion artifact due to patient drowsiness during the exam, with nearly nondiagnostic post contrast imaging."

First, I don't recall anything about refusing Glucagon and second, I wasn't that drowsy, and third, if it was that bad then maybe they should redo the MRI. They email you questionnaires in your patient portal prior to seeing the specialists and then they don't even look at them. I still have all the "sent" questionnaires with a notation that they've not been viewed yet. So, if they're not going to even look at them, then why bother wasting my time in filling them out?

Then, in mid-July 2019, I went to see a specialist in the endocrinology dept and after telling the doctor of the symptoms I'd been having she arrogantly said, "Oh, you have WAY TOO MANY symptoms for it to be **." (I told my primary care physician about this, he was the one who'd referred me to the Mayo, and his jaw dropped and he said, "What?!" I said, "Yeah, that's how I felt.")

They ended up repeating tests that I'd already had done at my regular endocrinologist, nothing special, and 3 weeks later the endocrinology doctor emailed me in my patient portal, happily reporting that I didn't have what I'd thought that I had and wishing me well! Ummmm, aren't THEY the doctors? Perhaps what I'd thought I'd had I didn't have, but I did (DO) have SOMETHING going on, but they're not looking into it any further. But, nope, they don't care and I was devastated, actually beyond devastated, to the point that my husband came home from work, hours early, to console me.

I actually described to my husband that I felt like I was nothing more than dog crap that they'd just scraped off their shoes, washed it off and was done with me. Bottom line is my husband and I both had such high expectations and it all ended up being a complete waste of time, money and gas as it was over 150 miles one-way to get there.

I was a patient at nephrology for 4 years and the medication they were prescribing me were so bad for kidneys. Some of the medications were used off FDA label (legally they could). Any time you question the foreign trained parrots they would just tell you "the benefits outweigh the risks of the meds"; probably as instructed by their big doctor. Then I realized with time, with each test, each medication, the side effects were mounting from from simple immune symptoms to full blown lupus like symptoms.

He said I would need to have testing done but it couldn't be done while I was already there. I would have to travel back there again. He said it could all be done in one day but it would take all day.

I expected to pay my specialist co-pay when I was there but they said I didn't need to. I received a letter from them nearly 2 weeks later telling me that I was scheduled for 2 days worth of testing and that some of the tests I "might" be put to sleep for so I would need someone with me or they wouldn't be able to do them. No one called to schedule these tests and ask if the dates would work for me or if I could have someone else travel there with me for the tests. I had already spoken to the surgeon in Iowa and had decided to go with him. So I went into their portal and cancelled all the tests and send a message to the surgeon that I had taken his advice and selected the other surgeon. A week later I got an e-mail that there was a message in their portal for me. It was an invoice for $436 for a 5 min office visit and the doctor never even touched me.

I went into my insurance company portal and found the claim and it said that the Mayo Clinic is out of network and that I owed $90 and change and this would be applied to my out of network deductible. It indicated that they had to discount the rest as it was out of line for the service performed and went on to say that in Florida there is a statute that says they cannot balance bill for what insurance won't cover. So I went into Mayo's portal and paid the $90 and change and then sent a message stating why and what I paid. They responded a couple days later that they aren't under contract with my insurance company so they don't have to do what they "suggest" and I need to pay the balance.

I contacted my case manager at my insurance company and she forwarded my issue to a new department set up to handle this exact issue. Someone called me from that department and I explained my issue and she again said that they can't balance bill due to the statute in Florida. She said she would get in touch with the hospital and get back to me. She did both and the person she spoke to said that she was aware of the statute and the balance bill was in error and would be credited. I waited several days and checked the portal again and it still said I owed it. I sent another message and the next day (today) I got another response stating they don't have to do what my insurance company says and I need to pay it.

My insurance company has called them again and was told that they are slow and it should be resolved in another week or so. They aren't slow sending me this bills. I am glad I opted to go somewhere else for my surgery. I can't imagine what a pain this would be if it's been this difficult handling an office visit invoice. And $436 is extremely high for any office visit but certainly for one at a "non profit".

The Nurse was amazing. The Internist was amazing. I was very embarrassed by the infectious disease in my body, and what it had done to it. She put me at ease as I laid in the hospital bed in nothing but a gown, completely vulnerable. She told me to lay down and relax while I wait for the attending because they are here to help. He stormed in. He accused me of having poor hygiene (laughing and mocking me after briefly glancing at my badly Norwegian-Scabies-Infested feet. He told me they were not going to treat me that day. He said "We will not be performing any kind of tests or biopsies on you."

I felt absolutely defeated, humiliated and started to cry. He did not flinch as he turned around and stormed out of the room. Did the laws change? Is it legal to do this, before confirming a patient's condition is stable? How do they get away with calling themselves a charitable organization if they discriminate against Medicaid/Medicare insurance carriers? "Do no harm." How can you call yourself a doctor?! They are a mouthpiece for big pharma and spread nothing but negative and often false information about all forms of alternative medicine. This is extremely troubling because proponents of alternative medicine also spread terribly biased misinfo that is positive about these same products and practices which puts your average person in a real bind when trying to make life altering decisions. There is almost no one out there giving it to them straight and with how big the Mayo Clinic is this is incredibly irresponsible, dangerous and they should be ashamed of themselves.

Referred to Mayo Clinic by my PCP and a Rheumatologist. My health has been getting progressively worse over the last 15 years to include pulmonary disease, SOB, abnormal EKG's & stress tests, chronic sinus infections, joint pain, muscle weakness and neuropathy (confirmed by EMG's), facial pain with swelling, intermittent rashes and eosinophilia. The doctors I had been seeing at home were all stumped as to what was going on and why I wasn't responding well to medical interventions. I had abnormal test results, chronic malaise, high eosinophil counts in blood and tissue samples (severe EOE), normal cardiac catheterizations, negative allergy tests (both blood and skin), and two positive methacholine challenges (but always have clear lungs on auscultation).

Arrived for a week long battery of tests and meetings with multiple doctors in the specialties of Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Neurology, Pulmonology, GI, Dermatology and Allergy. Internal Medicine did the coordination with the other specialties after a thorough history and physical. Test were completed to include labs, chest and abdominal X-rays, echo, methacholine challenge, pulmonary function test (PFT), EMG, EEG, visual and coordination tests, skin biopsies, and allergy testing. My past medical records indicated severe reaction with one of my methacholine challenges at the highest level 5/5 (which required hospitalization).

Medical records supplied to Mayo confirmed all the before stated medical complaints and test results by multiple specialist in my hometown area. Prior to Mayo, I was referred to a Rheumatologist at the Froedtert and Medical College in Milwaukee, WI. This Rheumatologist conducted a H&P, looked at my past medical records and had me complete labs and an EMG. The Rheumatologist stated he wanted to diagnose me with Churg-Strauss Syndrome, but the EMG test of my legs didn't indicate much vasculitis. There are 6 criteria for Churg-Strauss. A positive diagnosis is made when a patient has 4 or more of the 6 criteria. I had 4 without the EMG, but the Rheumatologist was reluctant to make a final diagnosis as he stated he didn't want to treat it incorrectly if it was Churg-Strauss, or make me worse if it wasn't. Thus the referral to Mayo.

Mayo reviewed my medical documentation and records, conducted their own battery of tests and had me complete consultations with their specialists. After all consultations and tests, to include a brief EMG, short PFT, and a methacholine challenge stopped at 3/5 I was sent back to the Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Doctors for the finalization of my results. I was informed that I have no pulmonary disease or other signs or symptoms of the past history of medical complaints and was told to stop all but my cardiac medications. The final diagnosis by Mayo was Somatization.

Nine Months later I ended up in the hospital with cardiac, neuro, and pulmonary issues and was diagnosed with Churg-Strauss Syndrome. Was started on Chemotherapy and immunosuppressants that same day. Within 1 month I was doing better and a lot of my past symptoms were improving. Unfortunately, I now have permanent nerve damage of my left arm and hand, and progressive sensory and motor neuro damage to rest of my appendages. The interesting part of the whole Mayo experience was that the doctors thought I was making it all up (somatization) and that I couldn't possibly have Churg-Strauss Syndrome (and I quote) because "I didn't look sick enough".

I had good doctors in gastroenterology and urology, but unfortunately was treated without respect, compassion, or care and as a burden in neurology and hematology. I received no communication at all, or was lied to in order to cover up ignorance. This is shameful when people are desperate and are seeking help. These doctors were only experts in arrogance. I have no problem with a doctor not knowing an answer, they are practicing medicine, but being cocky or making stuff up, or brushing you off, or in a difficult case never responding does not serve anyone. I was told I’d see Dr ** In Neurology. When meeting with Dr ** he opened the packet of records I’d sent and asked me “what’s the problem?” He then examined me for five minutes. And checked my reflexes. Then told me I was in the wrong department and needed to see Dr ** in the Dental department. Because I already had a hotel room I was told I could hang out to see if Dr ** had an opening. He did not but Dr ** did call me at home for a telephone interview. Then Dr ** told me he would review my records and do everything he could to help me. I then received a letter declining services.

When I called the Mayo they said Dr ** had a preliminary diagnosis of trigeminal neuralgia. I do not think it’s very professional to come up with a diagnosis without seeing a patient personally. The reason I went to the Mayo is for treatment that others could not provide. Not for Dr ** to read what others have written and then make a telephone diagnosis.

The way I was treated was very unprofessional and uncaring. Oh and if I do have Trigeminal neuralgia.... then I was in the right department with Dr **. After pleading and begging for an appointment at the Mayo I was finally told that if I didn’t cease to call and email that the Mayo would take steps to stop me. I’m fairly sure this means that they will file for a protection order of some kind. Very nice. Thank you Mayo.

Another week passed I called Mayo again for an update. I was told I first needed to be seen by General Internal Medicine and my Dr needed to send another referral for that clinic! At no time was I contacted and no messages were posted in my patient portal. I asked why was I not contacted or notified of these requests? I was told they were busy and behind with sending messages. My Dr sent another referral for Internal Medicine. After another week I called Mayo again and was told my records were still being reviewed.

Several days later my Dr informed me that Mayo sent notification stating that they had nothing to add and I didn't need to be seen there. I later learned that Mayo announced that they have basically stopped taking Medicare patients, and that private pay patients are now their preference and priority! Since I have Medicare I assume that was the deciding factor as to not see me. So Mayo has joined the ranks with others who cherry pick and select patients based on the their insurance.

Now Mayo, a so called world renowned leader in state of the art healthcare innovations and unsurpassed quality, has fallen from grace into the snare of greed and profit..The mission and vision apparently has been modified to state All are welcome with the right type of insurance. Government health insurance plans not accepted at most locations. Once again another historical benevolent organization falls to the pressure of the almighty dollar. Your payment source now dictates and determines your eligibility to be seen at Mayo not your health care needs!

Yes I went to Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota, eight months into my Lyme disease sickness. After they had booked out three days for me, with a stay in their complimentary hotel room connected to the hospital. They did about two days worth of testing. They saw that I had low cd56 and low cd57. I'm not sure what other results they found, but every time I mentioned Lyme disease and how I pulled three ticks off of me people were silent. They Strip Me Down naked and told me that this somehow was beneficial to testing, and I was screaming at them how horrific this place was and that that's not how you fix Lyme disease.

They put me through a two-hour psych evaluation, and told me that I was mentally sound and that there was nothing wrong with my mind. It wasn't deteriorating due to Lyme disease in my brain, like I had claimed. They did nothing for my racing heart, I was having severe Panic anxiety that doesn't stop because my mind had been stuck in fight-or-flight-mode and my heart was acting like it was having Lyme carditis type issues. Another doctor approached me and told me that I walked with a gait because... quote unquote "thats just the way God Made Me".

I've never been more insulted and offended in my life the way these people treated me and talk down to me. And lastly I was told that "we don't treat Lyme disease here at Mayo Clinic." And then they sent me home with no answers, and they didn't even start me on my first round of antibiotics. Even though a clinical diagnosis would have been good enough for my first round. Hospitals were more concerned about passing a blood test before they handle antibiotics which in my opinion is very dangerous to play with people's lives like that. So good luck with your visit to Mayo Clinic! I think they're a bunch of ** there, that's my personal opinion. You can tell them all I said so!

My first 8 months of being ill with Lyme and co-infections, I had severe vertigo and I lost my ability to walk. Had to buy myself a wheelchair. I couldn't eat any food... Every time I would ingest food I would instantly vomit it back up. I had a fever that never went away and I would sweat pools of sweat. I would wake up drenched, I never stop sweating. I was sleeping on ice packs because of encephalitis/meningitis in my head located around my cerebellum, the ice packs were the only thing that would numb the burning pain from inflammation. My brain was on fire for eight months. I was in excruciating pain and I was ready to blow my brains out, pain so severe that death seemed like the only logical answer to end the crippling pain and suffering.

Nobody Knows the hell I went through. I know I was sick with more than just Lyme but they refused to test me for other co-infections such as Babesia and Bartonella. It's very sickening that I live in a world that would allow me to just die because they'd rather neglect me than to give me a ** antibiotic to save my life. And if I could sue each and every doctor I've encountered along this horrendous Journey I would. And that is why I have so much spite left inside of me because of how I was done wrong by the medical community. And I will not sleep until Justice is served!

And that is why I advocate so hard for Lyme disease, for the people that are too ill to have a voice. This is why a clinical diagnosis is so important, based on the information I gave them they should have easily been able to treat me with the round of antibiotics. The longer you let Lyme go untreated it will go to your brain and your heart and it will kill you. It's a disgusting medical system we have. Shame on you Mayo Clinic, I would give you zero Stars if I could.

We were so grateful to get in to Mayo Clinic after our daughter had experienced burning chronic facial pain for months. We thought we understood (and from the misleading website) that tests were performed quickly upon initial check-in and a possible diagnosis and treatment quicker than most medical professionals. Our sweet church family put up the money so we could travel and get the best care possible. After an 11 hour trip from the Memphis area this was the process timeline: March 21--consult with Dr. Doctor informs that he is leaving town but schedules 3 tests that have already been performed in hometown (results were sent to Mayo for him to see). March 22--Husband tries to talk to someone about switching doctors since ours would not be available until April 1 March 26--3 tests performed (MRI MRV Lumbar Puncture).

A colleague doctor read us results but was not allowed to give us any advice other than JUST to read the results of cleared test scans; recommends blood pressure to be checked by a hometown care provider. Then we are told that NOTHING else can be done until we are able to talk to our doctor on April 1. We could E-mail him on Patient Portal but there was no guarantee that he would ever see it. At this point I am realizing that there is NO team of doctors that gives second and third opinions like the website says. Please don't be mislead by that information.

The sweet female doctor does show mercy and calls us later to set up an appt for blood pressure issue and pain management. HOWEVER, the pain management appointment is not until April 19!! Then I started e-mailing and handwriting letters to speed up the process and get answers. No return messages yet. March 27--We plead and tell our situation to the receptionist at Pain Management. She was great and arranged for a doctor to "give wiggle room" for a consult on the pain on April 2 (and possibly---but no guarantees on treatment that day). She also said that so many are out of town and they are short-staffed this week. We decided then that we should have NEVER come, but now we are in too deep. Now our trip will exceed two weeks, resulting in extra travel expenses and frustration over the lack of urgency. We also realize that we are yet a small gnat in the large numbers of people needing assistance.

I write this to encourage anyone to FIRST seek medical attention at a large city close to you. DON"T expect Mayo Clinic to be a miracle hope-giving medical institution. It may not be that for you. My expectations were high and now I am on the phone trying to set things up in Memphis and feeling sad about the money and time wasted here. Overall care is ineffective. They'll do whatever they can to get you back into the appointment chair as much as possible so they can have your money, but don't expect any helpful results, and do expect to be treated as a drug seeker from the beginning. On a more specific note: I had a minor surgery involving an punch biopsy scheduled. In the procedural room, the doctor came in accompanied by a young female. The doctor introduced himself but never the female, and she ended up being the one who performed the procedure (without my permission).

Upon later review of my procedural notes, I saw that they had stated that all people involved in the procedure had been introduced to the patient (me) by name and title. This was directly a lie, as that female was not introduced to me and for all I knew, could have been someone they found on the street and put in a lab coat. I would not have agreed to her performing the procedure if I had been asked, but I was never asked. Of course my chart says the opposite. Mayo is a learning hospital so DO NOT expect quality in your surgeries/Procedures and do not expect them to be honest with you in person or on paperwork.

Of course I was immediately concerned about my sutures from this procedure not healing correctly, so I made an appointment to see a doctor right away the next day. After being seen I was told that everything was fine and not to worry. I was more of the opinion that subdermal sutures should have been applied, but since I'm only the patient, my opinion didn't matter.

To nobody's surprise, when I had a doctor remove the sutures a full 10 days later my wound came gaping back open as if nothing had healed at all. It was so deep that simple surface stitches weren't holding the wound together enough for it to start healing (that's what subdermal sutures are for, but again, as a patient my opinion didn't matter). They put steri-strips over it and told me to let it be. It took over a month (supposed to be 7-10 days) to 'heal,' and when I say heal I mean that I now have a large permanent hole punch of scar tissue in my arm that is not only noticeable and ugly, but also uncomfortable and an even bigger threat of skin cancer now than it was in the first place. This causes me daily anxiety and I'm afraid to wear most of my clothes now because of the appearance of my arm. All in all it was a total failure.

When I complained they said they would 'look into it' but later told me that they had done everything to standard and that they wouldn't be doing anything about it. They made no mention of any of my concerns about not being properly informed, etc. as though they weren't even listening when I filed the complaint. This is only one of several examples I have of Mayo's poor service, and I only doctored there for less than 2 years. My life is quantifiably worse for ever having gone to Mayo and I would highly discourage anyone from making the same mistake that I did. Save yourself the time, money, heartache, and frustration, and just go somewhere else.

I have been having annual Wellness visits at Mayo since becoming eligible for Medicare. Mayo Clinic's scheduling always called me to schedule my wellness visit. This is composed of 2 appointments; 1) for labs and a nurse reviews my meds., profile, checks my balance, and questions for one's mental status and 2) a subsequent visit with my doctor for brief exam, lab review, concerns and a personalized plan of service, as needed. Medicare has always covered my annual wellness visits at Mayo Clinic.

In November 2018 I received my call to scheduling my annual Medicare Wellness visit; and the 2 appts. were scheduled. Later my visit with the Doctor was denied by Medicare. Needless to say I was surprised by this. Upon inquiry to the billing/claims dept; I was informed that my visit with the nurse was the wellness visit, that Doctor visit was not covered. I mentioned that I had no exam, no PPS or discussion of needs or findings were discussed. Additionally I added that I had not received any advance Beneficiary Notice for this appointment, and that Medicare annual Wellness visit specifically states I would get a PPS when meeting with the doctor. Mayo response, "You have to pay for the bill."

The only thing that I can see has changed is the fact that I now have to pay for a wellness visit with my doctor that has always been covered in the past. I am rethinking any further Wellness visits with Mayo in the future. For those patients who trust Mayo to provide accurate billing, they should look closer as to what is really due and payable. I complained to my Mayo doctor and some charges were reversed but there was no way to talk to anyone in billing. "Call back later" was the usual recording. Typing them a complaint evokes an inadequate response with "no reply" allowed. The transportation there and hotel room is already a burden. They threaten "future action" after 4 months. The care at the Clinic is great but I would never do another trial there. I don't think Clinical Trials should make money off the volunteers. My complaints were disregarded for years and I had heart failure in 2016. I told my cardiologist about my chest pain directly over my heart during a previous visit and when I brought it up at the following visit, she said that I never mentioned it. The doctors here do not listen and do not care about certain patients. I am already having problems with the hernia operation performed in 2008 and I have been complaining about it for years and they ignore me. Scans have shown post operative changes. I have done some research and found out it could be something serious. They just ignore me.

I have a fairly rare disease called, Ehlers-Danlos. I have seen several Drs at the Mayo in Rochester, Mn and have always been disregarded. The treatment I received at Mayo was the poorest treatment I have ever received. There are many comorbidities to EDS. One is a blood clot in my brain, and poor spinal fluid flow. When the Mayo Drs can’t figure something out, they simply stop seeing you. I am a nurse and care for patients with MS. Every patient I have ever had that started out at the Mayo was treated poorly or misdiagnosed.

The Mayo is overrated by far. The Brothers are gone now, but they still try to ride on their coat tails. I was misdiagnosed as well. Most of these Drs are either too old and need to retire, or young and just don’t try to figure a harder case out. “Faith-Hope-Science” should NOT be their motto. If someone wants to go and see some pretty art, or have a nice lunch at Victoria’s fine. But if you want to be treated for your illness with dignity and get some answers, do not go to Mayo.

I called for an appointment for my wife who is suffering from possible Trigeminal Neuralgia. I was told there are no appointments and no waiting list. I asked when is the next available appointment and was told there are none. Really? I am a physician and I have never heard such a response. If they have no appointments then why advertise. Is she being discriminated against since she is Medicare? She has been there in the past and should be able to get in as an established patient. I am very disappointed in Mayo. I think they think too much of themselves.

Mayo is certainly in the business of making money to the point where they don't see anything wrong sending a $2,000 bill to the patient just because they used a CPT code (billing code) that is excluded under their contractual agreement with the insurance company. Let me get this straight: the insurance company did not deny the claim because the procedure was not covered, they denied the claim because Mayo used a billing code that is excluded per their contractual agreement. There is a huge distinction between a procedure and a certain billing code not be covered by your insurance company.

For the same procedure, a doctor can bill using different billing codes and for some of them the insurance company will pay more than for the others. This is where the scam with Mayo comes into play: they will always use the billing code that will bring them the highest return regardless if it’s excluded or not by your insurance company. And if your insurance company denies the claim it will be your responsibility to pay the cost. I apologize for this review to staff and doctors and other people who were nothing but great, but Mayo’s billing practice is a disgrace to their patients and the people who trust them enough to represent them professionally.

Be forewarned. The Mayo Clinic in Rochester and its affiliated physicians engage in balance billing. If you are not familiar with this, it means that if Mayo is out-of-network for your insurance, whatever amount that your insurance doesn't pay, or "adjusts", Mayo will bill you that amount and hold you financially responsible. I had to pay an additional $12K out of pocket.

Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota is where my father was treated for throat and lung in 1955. They treated him and my mother with respect during and after treatment. I was 11 years old when my father was diagnosed with cancer - he died when I was 13. Prior to going to the Mayo Clinic he was misdiagnosed by doctors in Michigan for 2 years. My parents were told if he had come there first his chance for a full recovery would have been possible. This made quite an impression on me. I have always said that if I ever need a professional opinion from a doctor I want it to be from Mayo Clinic. I wouldn't waste my time going any place else. Their outstanding reputation speaks for itself.

As a final note, our financial situation was impacted by my father's illness. The agreement was my mother would pay each month a (low) amount. She did this faithfully for several months and when a time occurred when she knew she wouldn't be able to make a month's payment she contacted them, explained why and that she would do her best to double the due payment the following month. She received a reply stating it wouldn't be necessary because they were regarding the bill as PAID IN FULL. A well-known patient had paid the bill. There are no words to describe this generous gesture.

I have health insurance, so they billed my insurance provider. I only had to pay my co-pay. It was easy and simple. Would recommend to anyone. Facility was very clean. Staff was friendly. If there was a spill, they cleaned it up and made sure a wet floor sign is there so no one slips and falls. I received the care I needed to get better. Got my recommendations, followed through and within a couple of weeks I was feeling better! Great practice. They could have been a little faster in responding to me. It took almost a day to get my answer back from them about my initial questions.

They were very helpful and answered any questions I had. They immediately took my insurance information and got me the coverage I deserved and needed. Everything went as planned. It was very clean and I could even see an on hand cleaning staff while I was there. So they were constantly maintaining the work place. The staff was maintaining cleanliness as well. Overall the quality of care was very good. I would take any of my family members to the hospital. Which is a difficult thing to say. Most hospitals are absolutely terrible but they were great. The response time was impeccable. They were there on a drop of a hat. Which is what I liked best. So many times you will see staff not treat your family like there and they did and the made sure you were taken care of.

The billing was the same as any hospital or Clinic would be but they also were very much helpful in finding outside resources and outlets for financing and grants. We didnt have very much much money at the time and were helped by a non profit to take care of our medical debt. The clinic was very clean and organized. Some hospitals are busier than others and this one was on the busy end but they still managed to stay on top of keeping it sanitary and organized neatly which gave good peace of mind.

The were very attentive and caring. We have had some nightmare experiences medically and the Mayo clinic was not. There was always a nurse or doctor close by and willing to accommodate any request we had. It was appreciated. Their response time was fast and decisive. We barely could think when the emergency happened but as soon as we stepped into the clinic someone was willing and able to do a good act. We didnt think that was possible.

Pleasant, helpful and understanding. They made everything clear upfront how much everything would be and how much insurance would cover and not cover. We went during winter and one of the worst storms they had in years. We were extremely thankful for the network of underground pathways and structure so we could easily travel to all of our appointments without having to go out into the snow. There were restaurants around and we were very comfortable there. The area was clean, safe, and easy to navigate. Coming from out of town they were understanding and scheduled all testing and appointments within a day of each other, we did not have to wait long for any appointment, and all test results were ready when we saw the doctors. We received reports and answers very quickly. The doctors took their time with us and we did not feel rushed at all. They were forthright and seemed genuine and honestly cared about us.

It was a spoiled heaven for me and I literally wanted to cry because I knew nobody would ever treat me that good. The people treating me like a princess were faster than light, faster than fan girls when they hear their favorite actor or actress on TV.

Like any medical establishment, fees are exorbitant and charges were numerous, but I suppose that is the case because doctors are now in so much debt and machines are expensive. Very clean and sanitary environment and building was cleaned several times a day by janitorial staff. All furniture and beds were clean and sheets changed regularly. Nursing staff and medical staff are very professional and communicative, responsive to many of my questions, and took time out to assist as necessary. Hit the call button a few times and nurses did take some time to respond, however overall response was relatively decent but could have been a little better.

The customer service Representatives at Mayo Clinic are very professional and very helpful. Any questions I had on my bill they were sure to give you detailed explanation. I would recommend them to anybody. My opinion Mayo Clinic was a very good Hospital. I always have people cleaning there and anything that was spilled on the floor was clean up efficiently. I never saw anything dirty. There a lot of times at hospital the window blinds are dirty there and they were very clean there.

The care that I received at Mayo Clinic was above and beyond what I've received at any Hospital. They were very efficient to all my needs. I had no problem getting a doctor to answer any questions or if I needed an aspirin no problem getting a nurse to come right in Mayo Clinic response time with anything was astounding. If you call for a nurse within three minutes was by your bedside. If you need to speak with a doctor within 30 minutes there was one by your bed. Anybody that had major issues they had a response team right there standing by waiting.

The staff was nice and polite and was helpful when asked. I am usually hesitant to ask for help because some people's reactions aren't pleasant. The response time was appropriate depending on the situation. The staff was great at checking up on you while you wait and attending to any needs.
