This is my second set of hearing aids. The technology continues to improve very quickly. They are Bluetooth compatible so I can answer my phone just by pushing a button. The phone app allows me to set specific programs i.e., TV, restaurant, car with just the right volume. The only feature I miss Is the ability to turn them off at the hearing aid without disengaging the battery. The batteries do not last as long as in my previous set.

These Phonak Hearing Aids were purchased from COSTCO about five (5) years ago and have worked perfectly all that time. I originally expected about three (3) of service - but I am very happy with the long life of both of the Aids. Along with the Hearing Aids - I purchased the Bluetooth accessories which permit the Hearing Aids to be used for Phones and Music.

Received these through the VA. My first pair of hearing aids ever. That was in 2018; 28months ago. I don't wear them religiously as I still work with power tools and heavy equipment quite frequently. But I really like this pair of hearing aids. They are easy: to insert, to remove, to turn on/off, to adjust, to maintain, to identify R & L, and I don't have to fumble with batteries as they are re-chargeable. I put them to bed when I go to bed, and they're ready the next day for as long as I can last.

The Phonak hearing aids I recently purchased are amazing! They have so many nice extra features such as Bluetooth connectivity and tinnitus settings that do a great deal towards mitigating my bothersome tinnitus. I have tried other brands that we sorta okay but nothing compares to the quality of Phonak.

You can increase and decrease the volume etc. I highly recommend them.

After noting progressive hearing loss, my physician prescribed bilateral hearing aids. The Hearing Society recommended the Phonak brand and it has been a godsend. I had not realized how bad my hearing had become until I started wearing these aids. The reception is so clear. The aids are colored to my skin tone and fit into my ear canal so are not easily visible to others. I also love that they are equipped with a volume wheel to adjust the amount of sound I am receiving. They are so comfortable that I barely know they are there.

I find the auto function to be frustrating. The hearing aids shift to different programs at will. The tap feature to answer phone calls I thought would be helpful. I was wrong. I had the feature disabled due to the number of phone calls the disconnected without intent. There does not seem to be a range of sensitivity. If you use iPhone 12 beware of these hearing aids. I find the sound quality poor and this may be an Apple issue as I read this issue impacts multiple brands of hearing aids. A big selling feature for these hearing aid is the ability to connect to multiple Bluetooth devices at the same time. I find this to not be stable. If you use push notifications on your phone be prepared to turn off the audio notices unless you want all of the audio notices routed to your hearing aids.

When I stream from my iPad and a notice comes through the iPhone the audio drops with the iPad. This happens even with disabling the audio push notification. I am now evaluating which apps I can disable the push notifications completely. I do not see this as the desired outcome. The receivers for these hearing aids are large and even with changing the domes these hearing aids are not comfortable for all day wear. I have the rechargeable model and I am on phone calls and web meetings throughout the day. The hearing aids do fine with this level of use.

When the iPhone 12 audio issue is fixed the sound quality on calls will improve. For me these are a good back up hearing aid but my expectations have not been met. You do have an option of working with your hearing aid specialist remotely as the app supports this feature. I recommend confirming with your hearing aid professional they will work with you remotely. My service provider is not supporting this option. It would be nice to use this feature. I am still working to disable some of the auto features so I can control the hearing aids and changing the programs.

These Odeo Marvel 13T's are my 3rd set of instruments that I've had, first Phonak. First the pros. Very comfortable, the automatic setting takes care of about 75% of my hearing needs. Phone streaming is OK at best, helps me know when I receive a phone call, weather/sweat resistance is very good. Battery life averages 6-7 days. Easy to clean. Local audiologist is phenomenal.

CONS, don't try to contact Phonak directly you'll never get a response nor does my audiologist. While streaming during phone calls if there is any background sounds the person on the other end hears the background sounds and not me. The phone app will not let me adjust this out during a call. When I customize a feature on the app then close the app the customized setting is not saved.

Because I attend many conference meetings I looked into purchasing the Roger Microphone to help me hear conversations - 1500.00 is way too expensive. For the price of these units, I would expect more customer support than what I or my audiologist have been receiving from Phonak. I have received surveys 3 times from Phonak and I have begged them to call me and have not heard from them nor has my audiologist. Take a look at their website and see that they can't be contacted unless they send you a survey. Because of the very poor customer support, I will not be replacing what I have with more Phonaks unless their customer service greatly improves.

I have had a pair of Phonak Virto B70 hearing aids for 2 months. During this time, frequently only one of them has worked. When I insert them, sometimes they make a chime, sometimes they don't. Sometimes one makes a chime, but the other doesn't. If they don't chime, it means they aren't working. So, frequently, only one of them is working. I take it out, check the battery, etc. Occasionally it then starts working, for no apparent reason since I didn't really do anything except open and close the unit.

I took it back to the retailer. The person there took it in the back for a couple of minutes, and brought it back working. Said there was nothing wrong with it as far as they could tell. It then worked for about a week, and stopped working again - or working only intermittently. Again, sometimes it is on, but often it won't turn on. I'm going to return it tomorrow. I presume they will now send it out to a technician for 'repair.' I'm not happy about that, because a piece of electronic equipment that costs several thousand dollars ought to work better than that. Anyway, my conclusion is that this product is not as good as it should be. By the way, when they both work though they work really well to restore my hearing. Company must do better to improve this product.

I got my right Phonak hearing aid in May, 2019. It is now January, 2020. I was told my left ear had such poor hearing that it would be useless to get an aid for it, hence only the right hearing aid. Initially I heard all of the background noises very loudly, no matter how I tried to adjust the volume. I went to the audiologist and she made an adjustment but said she wants me to hear the background noises. Fine, but what good is that when I can hear the background noises so loudly and hardly hear anyone speaking. Also, the hearing aid works intermittently. I thought it was a problem with my iPhone and the Bluetooth, so I upgraded to the iPhone 11. Still works only sporadically and I cannot figure out what the problem could be.

I keep it in the dehumidifying jar when I don't wear it. I do not wear it when it is raining or snowing. I am extremely careful with it. I know I need to go back to the audiologist but I don't really like her, considering her response regarding background noise. So, now I am stuck with a $3000 piece of garbage. I am so frustrated I am sorry I wasted my money on this hearing aid. My sister is now experiencing hearing loss, too, but I advised her to just deal with it because having a hearing aid is not a sure thing and is very expensive. I wish I had never bothered with this junk.

I'll try to keep this short. I bought the aids in April 1999. For the first 4 months they worked beautifully. Then one would not turn on. I had to return it to the purchase provider. It took several weeks to get repaired because Phonak was out of parts AND complete hearing aids. I can't even imagine how an international company can run of repair parts.

After 4 weeks it was returned with an invoice that said that basically everything but the case was replaced. The repaired aid had such poor sound quality it was basically useless and I could no longer hear the TV, people in business meetings, or in restaurants. Back it went and was returned with a promise that I would hear people better because it was misadjusted. Back to me after 2 weeks. It was worse than before even though the speaker had been replaced again.

Now, 6 months later I still have no working hearing aids. I called Phonak (USA) and was told that they could not help me, that they only work with providers. The provider told me that her Phonak rep was the problem spot. I was just told that I had to return both, AGAIN, and new ones would be sent to me but the provider is on vacation until Jan 30. Her helper will not even return my phone call, after 2 days. I am in limbo with no one at Phonak willing to help. There seems to be nothing I can do.

I am reviewing the Phonak Audeo M-70r for both ears with the added TV connector at the tv. I been using these for 10 weeks and have had good results. The aids fit behind the ear with a small wire to the hearing tip that hides very well and goes into the hearing canal. The aids Bluetooth to my Android phone which gives me crystal clear handsfree telephone conversations. The phone has to be close by. I've also used it for music from my phone.

The added purchase of the TV connector was a good investment and very easy to use, even though the office paired them up before I got home. The connector works up to 12-15 feet through a wall and automatically connects and disconnects. I can adjust the volume by pressing one of the two buttons on the aid. I noticed others in the room liked the TV volume set at #10 which still was tiring with aids to listen too. The connector stops that and makes tv time lots more enjoyable and the TV volume can be set as low or mute because my adjustment is independent. I now hear stereo from my two aids clearly like I'm at the movies. My only complaint is I can't shut the connector off at the aid which sometimes would be a nice feature.

The aid is super nice, even though these are the only aids I have ever owned or tried. I hear sounds I've been missing for years. Been super nice in group settings, like restaurants. Almost too good. Some noisy restaurants I've even turned them down. With my smartphone, I can adjust the hearing to focus straight ahead and make a couple other adjustments, then save it for the future. I like this feature. The aids have made my restaurant experience much more enjoyable. Having a quiet talking friend, I can now carry on a conversation that's not so extremely exhausting.

This model aids are rechargeable and last me 15 hours and still have 40% or more charge left. My audiologist said he highly recommended this style and that he also recommended this model to his family members. This office I dealt with has a very high rating which made me feel comfortable with his recommendation. The exam was very extensive also. Wearing eyeglasses all my life, the aids, particularly the right side, have hurt my ear now and then but seems to be diminishing. I believe if I would of really made a big mistake by not going Bluetooth aids. In this case, the more bells and whistles lets you enjoy these pricy items.

I purchased Phonak Audeo BR Rechargeable & Cros B hearing aids back in March 2019 and they have been giving me A LOT of issues. My first issue was while I was on Vacation at the beach. I placed my hearing aids in the charging case at night, the next morning I went to turn them on and boom...NOTHING. I was "deaf" for the remainder of my vacation, worst vacation ever. I sent these back through my ENT and got a brand new 2nd pair. This pair did the same exact thing. Sent it back for the 2nd time.

At this point, the Phonak manufacturer thought it was a glitch while setting it up. So, when I got my 3rd brand new pair????, they suggested that I put my phone in Airplane mode whilst setting it up, which we did but I do NOT think it was a glitch because it still cuts in and out, it sounds muffled, very static, and almost like it is under water. Every single pair of these EXACT hearing aids are doing the SAME EXACT thing. My charging case DOES have a drying capsule in it. They just suck. I purchased my Phonak Hearing Aids 7 years ago for over $4,000.. I was pleased with the sound quality, but noticed batteries provided by my Audiologists barely lasted 6 hours. My hearing loss is genetic, and has not changed in 7 yrs, (2013) but after about 3 1/2 years of using the Aids, I noticed changes in them, but the warranty was no longer good after 3 yrs. I expected these hearing aids to last well into 10 years for the expense of them. After only 7 yrs. they are not ale to be adjusted on the equipment at the Audiology office, and a week ago, the right hearing aid wire broke completely off the behind the ear unit.

I did not use these hearing aids daily, because of only needing them in certain situations, so these aids got half the amount of regular usage in 7 years. I want to say, do not go with the most expensive brand, its cheaper to buy new ones at a lower or moderate cost every 3 to 4 years, because the technology changes so often that your $5,000 aids will likely be obsolete after 2 years of use. My audiologists warned me about buying hearing aids advertised on TV, but had I been smarter, I would have not been swayed to buy the Phonak Garbage. Lesson learned.

First, to be fair Phonak is the only brand of hearing aid I have owned so I don't know if concerns would also apply to other brands. Many features are great. I like the ease of adjustability. I like the length of battery life. I love the bluetooth connectivity. I can actually now watch TV; hear every word spoken and no longer have to rely on closed captions. So they work great as long as you stay indoors and do not engage in sort of physical activity. I'm an active person, however, spending a lot of time outdoors in my job as an ecologist, working in the yard, riding my bike etc. etc. The minute I start to perspire, the perspiration leaks into the hearing aids and they shut off. You can take the batteries out and see the liquid on their surface but simply drying them off doesn't work. It takes an extended period of drying.

It is particularly frustrating when working or recreating with others outside as it is extremely difficult to converse. Being able to hear others is one of the main reasons I have hearing aids so frequently I find myself back to problems associated with impaired hearing. So if you stay indoors and do not engage in any sort of physical activity these will be great hearing aids for you. If, however, you do anything that results in perspiration you will be greatly disappointed. At the price Phonak charges, you would think they could engineer a way to better waterproof their devices to avoid such problems.

The first hearing aid was just for one ear, as my hearing got worse I had to get a pair, so the background noise is at a minimum and yet I can hear a person talking to me in a crowded room, there's a switch for phone conversation, and I don't have to blare the TV. I tried Oticon the wire type and they drove me nuts, I went back 4 times for adjustment and just could not kill the background noise so the Phonak's have been a real blessing, they worked for me right out of the gate, I did go to a professional for hearing testing, and fitting and these have been a real charm.

I purchased Phonak Audeo B70 with CROS B a few months ago and switched to Starkey (the only other hearing aid with a CROS system, I was told) when the aid kept switching programs, primarily when on the phone, then later, in other settings. This was a problem since telephone is one of my primary sources of communication at work. The Starkey hearing aids had other flaws, so I recently switched back to Phonak Audeo. I have had them reprogrammed and followed all of the recommendations/guidelines, including locating and placing the receiver on the "sweet spot"; however, I am still encountering the same problem.

An additional strange idiosyncrasy is that the sound of the dial tone has a hint of analogue to it, rather than digital. I was told that it is because the "autosense" picked up a change in position; however, I have never had that problem with my old hearing aid. While I like the CROS system and functioning of the Phonak Audeo in the other environments, I am totally dissatisfied with paying so much money for a system that is not telephone compatible.

But I won’t at least not for the time being as these B90’s meet all my needs, and cost including programming 1/4 of what a new pair would cost.

These are the first aids I have had that allow me to hear and UNDERSTAND what’s on the TV at any volume level. That in itself says it all. If you check the specs, the improvement from generation to generation of aids is often not great, with the exception of moving from thin tube to RIC aids, so bargains to be had. And of course you need an audiologist to do the programming, and they are a variable commodity! And as with any technology subject to failures, both intrinsic, and user introduced. And as always, choose your audiologist wisely, or consider doing it yourself, and yes it is possible.

Bought top of the range Phonak Hearing Aids which worked beautifully to start with, then started eating batteries and the volume control was intermittent. I bought them on holiday and couldn't return to the original shop, but Phonak's system is that the individual sellers are paid upfront for after-sales servicing while the aids are under warranty, so -- according to them -- you have to go back to the person you bought them from, or you need to pay for checks/repairs, even though the hearing aids are faulty. Unfortunately Phonak is part of a Swiss company (Sonova) and they don't reply to emails, so their complaints system is about as useful as their hearing aids.

I am embarrassed to say that I bought my Phonak hearing aids over a decade ago. I have a lot of natural hearing left, so I have an over-the-ear with an ear canal mold. I remember how amazed I was the first time I heard crackling paper. I had probably been missing that sound my whole life. I had some luck 2 years ago having them serviced at my doctor's office (yay HMO!!). They have been like the battery bunny, they keep going and going and going. I am finally financially able to replace them and will seriously consider the same brand. My experience with Phonak has been excellent!

I have a winter home in Chiang Mai, Thailand that is in a gated community with a very nice, large, and DEEP swimming pool. A few weeks ago I went for a swim and dove into the deep end of the pool. When I got home I realized I had not removed my hearing aids! By this time it was dark and the pool was closed. Next day I went to a department store and purchased a pair of swimming goggles. Went back to the pool and started searching the bottom of the pool for the aids. Miraculously there they were resting on the bottom of the deep end of the pool (about 8 feet deep!). They had been there for almost 24 hours by now.

Fortunately, the COSTCO audiologist had pushed me to purchase a little hearing aid 'dryer'-- cost around US$35 --since I swim daily. I placed the aids and batteries in the dryer for the 30-minute drying cycle. To my astonishment they cranked up right away (even using the SAME batteries that went down with the ship!!) and have been fine ever since! I hope this water immersion has not done any significant damage. I guess time will tell. But I must say I was flabbergasted they still worked just fine! NOTE: purchasing that little 'dryer' accessory was a wise move if you are a swimmer like I!

The fact that there are so many complaints about hearing aids may not come from the hearing aids themselves. Maybe it is the consumer. They are a computer, nothing will be like the natural ear. Background noise was an issue when I had great hearing, so why would it change when I have crappy hearing? If the hearing aid stops working, maybe it's wax...

Apparently when the hearing aid is PLUGGED, it stops working as well. (And yes, it can happen within a day.) Phonak hearing aids allow for me to hear the football game coming over the speaker in a loud and crowded bar. That in itself tells me they work well. The battery drain in the 13 hearing aid seems to be awesome- I get around 14 days of battery life and the hearing aid connects to my Samsung phone for phone calls. It's only on one side, which is all I would expect - (I mean... who puts their phone on both ears at the same time? Telemarketers... that's it!) If you keep the hearing aid clean and wear it all day long, I think your brain just gets used to how amazing the world actually is. With all the studies of dementia and hearing loss being connected, why would anyone want to go without some help?

The aids have worked flawlessly except for a speaker that failed in the right one a few weeks ago. VA repairman replaced it while I waited. I bought a Phonak Model B70-13 BTE hearing from ZipHearing in August 2017. Long story short, the hearing aid never performed properly, this despite being sent to the "factory" for repairs multiple times and even once entirely replaced ("new serial number"). The local audiologist referred by ZipHearing was unable to get the hearing aid to work despite many attempts nor was a second audiologist, also referred by ZipHearing and at their expense, despite the latter getting significant help by phone from Phonak's "best" customer service rep. After a year of this situation I asked for a full refund. This was countered by an offer to refund 73% of the purchase price.

I also contacted Phonak directly. This is their response (August 23, 2018): "Thank you for contacting Phonak with your concerns. Please accept our apologies for our product not performing to your expectations. As the manufacturer, we must refer you back to your original provider for assistance. We are unable to override any offers or policies between you and the hearing care provider. We hope they are able to help you with a resolution."

Lest anyone think me a crank, I have been using a hearing aid since about 1990, having begun with ITEs then BTEs. This is the first time I have ever had a hearing aid fail utterly. My current hearing aid, a Widex BTE is now eight years old and works fine. With the newer-technology Phonak, I'd planned to use the Widex as a backup.

Got these from a professional ear/nose/throat practice at what is today a relatively high price ($5200). The good: The company did due diligence in measuring my hearing range and programming the aids accordingly. The bad: I've come to accept the fact that they're AIDS -- not CURES. I'm guessing that most people with hearing problems believe that hearing aids will restore their normal hearing. They won't! They're just what the description says: AIDS! They help, but don't CURE you hearing problems.

They also indicated that these top-of-the-line aids would suppress background noise in crowded places. They don't. In addition, the aids give off a signal (2 long beeps) to tell you the battery needs replacement. Trouble is, they do this as long as 3 hours before the battery is actually dead. You then get more beeps at ~2 hours and ~1 hour before the battery actually dies. Phonak needs to program the aids to give a SINGLE signal ~1/2 hour before it REALLY will die.

It was the best and highest price they offered because they recommended it saying my husband's hearing was very bad. We were supposed to get a 1 year warranty, but were charged when we went in in a few months. I complained and she did give me the money back that time. However, my husband has had to go in for repair several times since. It takes about 15 minutes and he is charged $250.00. He just did this a couple weeks ago for the left ear. Now, the right ear aid is not working. We just can't afford to keep getting them fixed. We are on SS and he only gets $782. per month. This is a travesty that they charge so much for hearing aids and the insurance doesn't cover the cost or the repair. Don't waste your money on Phonak Hearing Aids. They are crap and very expensive.

I bought Phonak's original Bluetooth CROS aid when they first came out. After decades of 100% single-sided deafness I thought they were a godsend. And they were - when they worked. They were not water-resistant so I couldn't wear them while mall-walking or during any other physical activity because perspiration often shut them down. Occasionally a couple of nights in the dryer helped, but other times, I had to take them to the audiologist (who cleaned the contacts). Three times they had to go back to Phonak so I was without them for weeks at a time.

Those aids finally gave up the ghost a few months ago, so I (slightly reluctantly) replaced them with the CROS B13, which is way, way superior technically to my old ones. Unfortunately, after wearing them for 9 days, the cord separated from the aid. I was able to push it back in and make it work a few times, but it kept separating. So I dropped it off at the audiologist today and was told they should be back in a week. I don't want this to be a premonition of "the same old same old" with finicky Phonak aids.

One friend I recommended them too thought the system was bad but it turns out she expected her perfect hearing back from prior to her hearing loss - and that isn't ever going to happen with the current level of medical apparatuses technology. 80 years ago the state of the art was an ear trumpet, so give it time.

I've had my Brio 3s less than two weeks. Whilst my initial thoughts were, "I adored them" but by day 3 a problem has occurred nearly every 3 days and is now happening daily and as of tonight it refuses to stop. My left hearing aid makes this crazy electrical buzzing like a bee is in my ear. I can even duplicate noise loud enough by placing the receiver near the mic and turning the volume up just to make sure my husband could hear it and even he said, "What the heck that noise and when did that start?" The first time it happened I thought, "Oh maybe my wAx guard got clogged." So changed it only to still have the issue. I waited 3 hours and changed the battery and it stopped the issue. Second time I removed the hearing aid and let it sit turned off for about 5 minutes the buzz continued and I waited another 5 minutes and it stopped. This has been daily for the last 6 days.

As of tonight it started buzzing. I changed wax guards tried a new battery. It's been sat in the case airing for over 3 hours and constantly shorts the static buzz noise every time the aid is turned on. I'm at a loss. They have not got wet, I've not dropped or yanked the wires. Whenever I've removed the aid I've used the pull tab on the custom mold of the receiver. They have been carefully placed in the individual cases that Phonak supplied when not in use on my dresser. I'm actually really upset at this point because these are the first set I've bought privately in 30 years of Free NHS (UK) hearing aids. I never had issues within days. I always get 4-6 years before issues occur. My last hearing aids lasted 8 years!

I will be calling my fitter first thing in the morning and at this point I'm considering returning them already as I cannot keep removing and turning off aid for 10 min-3+ hours to stop the weird noise. I'm actually wondering if there was a programming issue because at the time of my appointment the iCube used to program wouldn't connect. It took 30 minutes of rebooting and constant reinstalling to get it to kick in. I have absolutely no issues with my right hearing aid that works flawlessly. It is only my left aid that is doing it.

Because the ear has damage which took about 75% of the useful range of hearing I still receive lots of noise. Automobile tire noise becomes quite annoying and tends to cause difficulty hearing conversation or radio in the car. The Cros system doesn't help with the "bad" noise and does a poor job picking up sounds that aren't coming from behind. That means I can hear the table behind me in the restaurant but only those in front or beside with difficulty. If I had had a longer test usage of the aids I would never have spent this amount of money for such minimal hearing boost. The best function would be to paint them red so folks could see that I have a hearing problem.

This is my 2nd set of Phonak hearing aids (my bionic ears). I had an earlier set -- my first fitted hearing aids, and it was painful getting used to them. Those of you who were around in the 40s and 50s will remember what getting a new pair of leather soled shoes was like -- it took me about 3 months to get them fitted to my feet so they were comfortable to wear. That was what it was like getting my first set of Phonak bionic ears. On the other hand, my hearing improved greatly, and I had 3 settings -- general, music and mute. I could hear again, even if I did have to do a fair amount of adjusting volume.

My 2nd set, Phonak Virto V90FS have small computers in them, and they automatically adjust to the world around me -- crowd noises, background noise, music -- though I still have to manually adjust the volume for the thunderous applause of the rest of my class of 100+ people, to strong winds blowing across my ears, to the nearby crinkle of a potato chip bag. Still, my audiologist made them so they fit so well that I don't remember I have them in -- until I step into the shower, or get caught in the rain. I'm told they are somewhat water resistant. I also remember I have them in when I lie down for a nap or sleep. That's the only time they are uncomfortable.

I have ITE (in the ear) hearing aids because I do Aikido (a martial art which has lots of throws where I land hard on the mat or do a variety of rolls) and the only time one has fallen out in the last 6 years (over 1000 hours of practice) is when someone's elbow brushed my ear just right and my red bionic ear popped out and rolled across the mat. I just picked it up, put it back in, and continued practice... I like that my right bionic ear is red, the left blue, and the visible part when I am wearing them are flesh colored. Most don't notice I'm wearing bionic ears until I say so. I like that I can adjust the volume or turn them on or off by using the controls on just one ear. I also like that the sound from them seems to be somewhere in the center of my head, rather than in the two little plastic pieces in each ear.

My biggest complaint is that Phonak doesn't provide a good carrying case -- at least for my style of hearing aid. I use the largest battery -- size p13 -- because they last the longest -- about 9 or 10 days. My ears have a right angle, which means that the hearing aid is a little larger than those who have a straight in tunnel. It also means that the pretty boxes Phonak provides -- don't work very well. When I take my bionic ears out, I pull out the battery holders. I want to store the hearing aids with the battery holders extended, and they tend to get pushed back into the hearing aid by the lid of the case. This means that my wife starts shaking my shoulder, saying: "Your hearing aids are screaming." which I can't hear without my hearing aids in place.

Taking the batteries out if the hearing aid battery holder is not an option because there is no place to put them -- when opened batteries rattle together, they use up a lot of their useful life, and if I leave them in the closed or almost closed battery holders, then there is an extra 40 hours of use every week. I would like a hearing aid case that 1) is small enough to fit comfortably in my pocket, 2) will hold the hearing aids so the battery holders are easily held open (batteries not being used up) , and 3) has storage space for 3 or 4 spare (unused) batteries for future use.

The Phonak "Compilot" bluetooth pendant supposedly pairs with a Bluetooth source such as an iPad or computer. It works only occasionally. Within any fifteen-minute stretch of being paired with a source it will drop out five or six times, each time with a voice telling you that it has stopped pairing or is pairing or is turning off or some such thing. It's a recipe for irritation and occasionally serious inconvenience - such as when you are listening for weather warnings, news bulletins, etc. While I have been typing this I have gotten four messages from the Compilot: "Bluetooth Audio"; "Compilot stopped pairing"; "Bluetooth pairing stopped"; "Bluetooth audio." Each time it either interrupts or completely stops connecting with the source. I am seriously tempted to try some "hammer therapy" on the bloody thing.

Costco Phonak Brio 2 - Purchased 11-16-2016. Seventy-eight year-old male with moderate to severe hearing loss from unattenuated exposure to jet aircraft. I had not looked into hearing aids until I started having difficulty distinguishing individual words in a movie theater with all the volume they customarily use. Went to local Costco on the recommendation of a fellow pilot and was highly impressed with the personal attention and, what I perceived as, the expertise of the audiologist working at the Costco kiosk. The combination of the extended 180 day trial period, the two-year extended warranty and the recommendation of the friend prompted me to take the plunge and buy the Brio 2. Which brings up the subject of documentation. Apparently, the Brio allows custom functions which are programmed by Costco, and there is no place to find written instructions for some basic operations. The Phonak website is notably deficient.

I was specifically impressed with the several automatic pre-programmed environmental modes for music, driving, restaurants, etc. During the fitting, these modes and operation of the aids were explained...mostly. I missed the explanation of how the volume of the aids was controlled with the volume buttons on the top of the aids and searching the included instructions and available online help was no help. How they worked was explained on the first follow-up visit. As many as Costco sells, there is no reason for not having better instructions and documentation.

The iPhone Bluetooth capability was also a selling point. I didn't realize that this option requires the use of the goofy ComPilot Air II to work at all. It does work, but my impression was that no "streamer" was necessary. I know there is a lot of technology crammed into these little buds, but having to have the ComPilot fastened to your collar makes this feature marginally useful. All-in-all, I am happy with the improved level of hearing I have now.

I've been a hearing aid wearer for 12 years now. I was replacing a Phonak Audeo V50 hearing aid that was 4 years old because my insurance plan will cover it. My coverage allows me to buy very good hearing aids every 3 years. It seems that depending on the hearing aid place you go to they peddle only one brand and in each case this time around the experience was horrible. I was not happy with what I was hearing from the Oticon and Starkey brands. Sounds were too sharp at the high ends and yet overall sound quality seemed muffled and feedback was intolerable. Those hearing aids carried a price of around $4500 to $4800/pair.

I went to Costco and got their Phonak Brio 50 hearing aids. I was not expecting success but I was pleasantly surprised. In one visit, the world sounds good again and it doesn't hurt that the price is affordable and fully covered by my insurance. Losses and damages are 100% covered in the first 2 years. I think that Costco is making a good buck on them and I can't help but feel that people are getting fleeced going to the other guys now.

I lived with that for around two weeks, and then called the VA hospital that issued them. I then had to mail one back. About 3 weeks later it was returned, and a statement was sent referring the aid was gone over and fixed.

Two months later it started again in the same aid. I again lived with that beeping and replacing the batteries for about two weeks, then both aids started beeping. This started to drive me crazy. I called the VA again and was told to contact the manufacturer. This was done and I was advised to mail both aids to them. They returned new aids, they worked great for about 4 months, then the same side aid that was the first to beep started beeping again. I now just use one aid, fortunately the one not beeping is for the ear that has the most hearing loss. I believe this firm is dumping its lesser than 100% quality checked aid to veterans through the VA.

My audiologist who introduced me to the LYRIC brand of IIC invisible-in-canal product was forced to stop providing my service as Phonak required an annual sale commitment to continue distribution and service. I was forced to then continue service 40 miles further away... The LYRIC concept is that it is completely self-contained with a marketed battery life of 3 months. Users are forced to go to the audiologist and receive a replacement unit. The longest battery life run for me has been 2 months and that was with Series-1. Not in town when it dies or on a Friday night... too bad for your luck until you find an open office. Compile the inconvenience with faulty quality assurance of the Series 3 "innovation" and you have a 3-year customer (me) now seeking other ICC solutions with a vengeance.

My last experience... my last replacement lasted 7 hours. I delayed vacation travel plans to replace the unit with a 80-mile round-trip drive to the "approved" audiologist that lasted 4-hours and died while I was driving to my 9-hour vacation destination. I "wasted" a morning of my vacation getting in to see a local LYRIC distributor for a replacement. I am seeking a self-service battery model with integrity for distribution and quality practices. Likely a Beltone Micro Invisa or a Siemens Insio... Never a Phonak/LYRIC again.

I've been wearing their products for about 4 years now and if it weren't for the exorbitant cost (over $4000) I would be on to another supplier. The only good things I can say are that they do have good customer service (along with my audiologist) and the devices generally work for normal, unextreme situations such as watching television, quiet conversations, and so on (and the push button volume controls are really helpful).

But beyond that they in no way deliver what they promised. They do not reduce background noise in restaurants. They do not mitigate wind noise. They do not dampen sudden, loud noises. Maintenance is a nuisance with them turning off suddenly when the "wax guards" get stuffed up (which can happen within a day or three of completely cleaning the ears). Over time they degrade from 10 days on a battery to under 10 hours; fortunately my audiologist can fix this but I don't know what will happen when the warranty expires next year. And they come with NO documentation. No user manual, no maintenance information, nothing. That's unacceptable. Bottom line is I think a pair of $500 OTC aids would do just as well and that's where I'll go when these things die or get too expensive to fix.

Just found out that Phonak will not offer insurance on my hearing aids in the 5th year. Just put out the big bucks for new hearing aids in case something happens.

I have used it daily for 4 years (18/24 h). I have had no technical problem at all. I am very satisfied with the extent to which it improves my hearing. Best of the five aids I have been using for the last 25 years.
