I read the reviews of their hearing aids. Didn’t go with the cheap versions. I went with the rechargeable ones. And the only difference was that people’s voices echoed more loudly than prior. But I could really hear the person talking any better with them. Sadly they didn’t help.

The people at the Costco hearing center are quite helpful in helping you get adjusted to the hearing aids. However in my case, it required several visits before the sound quality was good. I find the aids a bit uncomfortable to wear and with the mask situation now, almost impossible. Every time I remove the mask, the unit falls out. Costco is very good about cleaning the aids and I try to do so each time I am in a Costco store, wherever it is.

While the Costco Hearing center customer service is phenomenal, their Kirkland brand hearing aids are not. I have worn hearing aids for approx. 20 years; with a condition of substantial hearing loss. I’ve had aids of 2 different brands prior to receiving the Kirkland (Rexton) bluetooth/ rechargeable hearing aids. I have had these aids for almost two years. While I enjoy the capability of streaming directly into my ears, the streaming is not continuous. It often cuts out, playing in one ear only, switching ears, or cutting out completely in both ears. I’ve taken them in for adjustments, and the staff has been very courteous and patient.

My next trip to Costco, I will be leaving the aids with them to send in to the company. I initially, I had ordered the battery-powered aids, which were completely covered by our insurance. I found myself replacing batteries daily. I exchanged them for the rechargeable model—for which I paid an additional out-of-pocket expense. I find myself wearing these now only during Zoom mtgs, phone calls from our car, audio books while hubby watches football, and tv news—all of which I stream directly to my ears. For general all-round hearing, I wear my old hearing aids (Phonak, purchased through a major hospital healthcare system; and at a substantially higher cost).

Costco Kirkland (Rexton brand) hearing aids just do not provide the clarity I get from my older aids. I’ve been back to Costco for adjustments, with no satisfactory result. I will say—and I’m assuming it is spoken in desperation—that I’ve been told my ears are not compatible for hearing aids...so what am I to do about that???? Even with the fancy menu of hearing options: automatic, complete with directional microphone; listening to music; outdoors; playing music; television; etc...these aids do not effectively deliver ( and the ‘music options’ are horrible—music sounds tinny. I actually use this option while in the car; as it seems to amplify a bit better than other options...but then the road noise is louder as well—just cannot win).

While streaming, the rechargeable aids are only good until about noon; at which point I place them back on the charging unit until the evening news. I just cannot recommend these hearing aids. I may add, it's also frustrating to those around me when I constantly respond with “what?” while wearing them (many times hearing a disgusting response like “I thought you had hearing aids”). I went with Costco this time, due to ratings in Consumer Reports.

The Costco experience was so easy to get tested, ordered, and fitted for my hearing aid. I probably qualify to get hearing aids through a VA hospital, but after reading about how Costco was so highly rated in a leading Consumer Magazine, I elected not to go through the VA, thinking Costco would have the latest and greatest hearing aid products. I'm very happy with my "ears" now.

I just got my first set...I'm a brand new wear'er' of hearing aids. It took me for a loop when I attended a live music event and left the venue only to suffer hearing damage and loss of frequency. I ran to several ear specialists and lots of tests and got fitted for the Kirkland 9.0's as they seemed to be a good option and the price was right. I did purchase a OTC BTE device on Amazon and found that I certainly needed some help. Likely had some hearing deficits for years, but the "event" was the straw that broke the camels back. I decided on Costco for the price. I figured since my insurance didn't cover, I was going to be fine with the Kirklands. I did a lot of research and was tempted by some of the ads for the Livio and all the bells and whistles, but the Kirklands were just right.

My experience at Costco was great. The gal was friendly and knowledgeable about the products. She did suggest a different style for me, but it was double the price and, honestly, I did not need all the extras. I like the Bluetooth option and the size of the ear bud. I'm vain...I don't want anyone to see the aids. I wanted to hear better but not be obviously dependent on checking my phone for various settings. I'm retired and love to play golf. My life is pretty simple...love my grand kids and enjoy tv. Simple! The Kirklands are great. I am getting use to them. I have the smallest ear canals, so they are a bit sore and I cut the long plastic thread off one because it was so itchy and uncomfortable. Now that particular wire is popping out a bit. When I return for my follow up, I'll probably have her replace.

We are in the middle of the Corona Virus quarantine and I live in the Seattle area, so Lord knows if I'm going to be able to make my follow up. Costco was a ghost town when I picked them up. I'm still getting use to them. I'm thinking of getting a tv connector. I did not do that initially, but my husband doesn't like me watching tv when he wants to sleep, so this would be great. I like the phone feature, though most of my communications are via text messaging. Talking on the phone is a lost art!

I got the beige, flesh tones. I have blonde hair, and they are almost invisible. I do like to pull my hair up and wear a pony tail. I don't know if that style is in my future, but I'll see how things go. Right now, with the virus, no one is getting out, so I'll have lots of time to get use to wearing them "inside". Sound is a bit tinny but that's because I"m not use to hearing aids, in general. I also have lots of background noise that I hate...the claws on my puppies paws that clank on the hard wood floors, my husband cough (not Corona...just a cough from his meds), unexpected noises that I likely have not heard for a bit...but, my brain will get use to them in time.

I could go on about the poor service at that Costco, but I think my point is clear. I had to go to a different location to get accurate information and hopefully I will now be able to adjust to the hearing aids.

My wife and I tried to use our United Healthcare insurance plan for hearing aids. The insurance program proved to be expensive and low quality after two appointments with United Healthcare providers. We then met with an independent provider who was good but very expensive. I then decided to see what Costco had to offer. That proved to be an excellent decision.

We went to the Costco hearing aid center in Nampa, Idaho and were very happy with the experience. The staff was professional, courteous, very knowledgeable and honest. I did a lot research about hearing aids and can confidently say that Costco provided a high quality hearing aid at the best price with the best warranty and excellent service.

My first Kirkland hearing aids were 5.0. They were great for the 3 plus years I spent in Asia. Then they started to fail. My next set was Kirkland 9.0 and were manufactured by a different company. I needed an adjustment so they would stay in my ear canal. Immediately an employee yelled at me, "we are not giving you your money back"! I did not ask for that, just an adjustment. Two adjustments later I am told, "If this doesn't work we need to make ear molds at additional cost". I have to adjust the placement every 5-10 minutes. Isn't that special moving around with my fingers in my ears trying to fix a manufacture problem. Try to do that all day. Moral of the story - don't assume Kirkland replacement of Kirkland product will be the same experience. Also don't assume the hearing center at COSTCO, Wesley Chapel, Florida will help. You might get yelled at for a simple adjustment.

Now this gets me thinking and then overheard the tech say that they just had the same thing happen just 2 weeks prior to my wife was to get her fitting. Now I do not think this was a good idea. These Kirkland for $1600 are great. I can hear my wife, the TV, and conversations. Before, I could hear volume, but did not understand the words. Even better is the Bluetooth connection to the TV.. Only downside is now that I can really hear my wife, I noticed she has a "lisp", which I never noticed before!

I showed up for the appointment. They reviewed the hearing test I brought with me, but said they couldn't use it because the doctor had not signed it. I was fine with taking another test. Then they noticed the report showed bi-lateral hearing loss. Only one side. They said I would need an MRI. I told them I had an MRI within the last week and everything was normal according to the ENT. They said they would need a signed report from the ENT before they could do anything. So, if you have normal unilateral hearing loss, you are probably fine. My friends are all happy with their hearing aids from Costco, but apparently they have too many lawyers involved and will not do anything out of the ordinary without substation documentation and live ink. Apparently they are afraid that someone would cut and paste a fake hearing test. I'm not sure what their problem was, but I will go back to the doctor's office for a referral to a professional organization.

I purchased my Phonak hearing aids several years ago at Costco. I went back several times to have the earpiece changed because it was too big & uncomfortable. They didn't have one small enough, so finally just removed it & sent me off with no earpiece. It constantly became plugged! Finally asked my ENT office about it. They gave me a proper earpiece. I also repeatedly asked for adjustments for better hearing, but was never totally happy. They were better than nothing. After about 4 years, my husband encouraged me to go for some proper hearing aids. I went to Healthgrades in Holland. I am SO happy to be able to hear now. It's life changing & worth every penny! These Kirkland Signature 9.0's are providing the BEST hearing experience I've ever had. I'm generally not a review writer, although I value credible reviews written by those that have taken the time to share their experience. This is my way of paying that helpful goodwill forward. I've been a rock drummer since I was a kid and "blew my ears out" long ago; as a result I've tried wearing most types of hearing aids over a very long time. I spent more than $7K for my first pair of custom fit totally in the canal aids when they first came out in the late 90's - seemed like a good idea but every time you put a phone over your ear they feedback like crazy - had to pull one out to use a phone held up to my ear.

Last January I turned 65 and due to a Medicare benefit, decided to update the last pair of Costco signature hearing aids I'd had for the previous 7 years. The hearing aids that Medicare covers fully are not worth the time it took to try them, to me anyway, they were essentially sound amplifiers with no Bluetooth connectivity and not even close to my old current pair. It took me 8 months to decide, trying most premium options, working with a great Doctor of Audiology.

I'll share my experience with the first and last pair I tried (I tried 5 total) before deciding on Costco's Signature brand again. I did my research and wanted to try what I considered the best first, the Phonak Marvel, I found them to be as advertised but there were a number of things I found bothersome enough (I'd go into detail but realize it may only be helpful to those familiar with all of the nuanced options, like these being the only ones that handle Bluetooth phone calls like Apple AirPods by utilizing the mics in the hearing aids to pick up your voice - problem is they pick up way too much ambient sound disrupting the phone call) to continue my search.

The last ones I tried were Starkey Livio AI, the most expensive ($3,500), I really wanted these to be the ones as they had a lot of really cool features & the most robust app I tried (problems with these ranged from, I didn't like the shape and physical feel, to the uselessness of many of the features due to constant systemic problems with the app).

Here's what I learned that may help you decide what's best for you. A great Doctor of Audiology can be your best resource, I wish they had access to the Kirkland Signature product. The people you deal with at Costco are usually not Doctors, but the ones that actually fit and tune the hearing aids they offer are trained & certified to use their experience and great equipment to tune you into their best options. I've come to trust the Costco team that works with industry leaders in order to deliver the best current options at the best price. Researching that their Signature 9.0's were made by Phonak, I waited for them and have found them to be the best for me at 1/2 the price with better protection and service. I've been through this whole process before, ending up realizing that for me, my best option was the current Kirkland Signature model.

I like using batteries Vs charging because if they die while I'm out I can simply replace the batteries and instantly I'm back to 100% so the fact that the Signature 9's are not rechargeable is not a problem for me, it's indeed an advantage. I don't need or want a telecoil, it's old tech that adds bulk & expense to the hearing aid. The 9's are thinner and less bulky than the Starkey's and feel much better. The 9's (Phonak's) handle Bluetooth phone calls with the mics in the hearing aids and do it with less background noise than the (Phonak) Marvel's (it can still be problematic though like if a truck goes by, just like with AirPods).

Downsides of the Costco Signature 9's (Sonova/Phonak) turned out to not be a problem for me - examples, in addition to the battery situation I've already described, are the very basic app, it's not at all cool - zero bells & whistles - but, the hearing aids themselves are doing everything I need/want them to do seamlessly. They sense the environment and adjust accordingly, I don't even have to think about what program they're in. The only thing I need to do sometimes is adjust the volume and it's easy to do with a tap on the hearing aid, up or down, simple.

They are handling calls very well, love that I can answer a call even when I'm away from my cell phone, just as I would on my Apple watch and btw, with all the stuff my Apple watch does for me, I don't need or want my hearing aids to even try to do all that health stuff like the Starkey's promote, thanks but I have an Apple watch and just want my hearing aids to be the best at helping me to hear.

Currently, all other hearing aids that say they handle phone calls via Bluetooth utilize the mic in your cell phone. This means that you need to speak into the mic on your cell phone which causes you to have to hold your phone near your mouth which is cumbersome and ridiculous, making you quickly realize you're better off with wired earbuds, AirPods or simply talking on the phone with nothing in your ears. With the 9's when I get a call, I tap the hearing aid, my phone stays in my pocket and as long as I'm in a relatively quiet environment, there's no problem and I never have to touch my phone.

One other irritation relative to these wiz bang hearing aid apps, other high end hearing aids promote, is that using them is distracting when you should be listening intently, paying attention, working etc. I had to explain while trying to get my app to optimize my hearing experience that I'm not distracted, but rather trying to be more attentive, that just doesn't translate well and causes you to advertise that you have a problem hearing - it can end up being counterproductive. I like that I have 18 months to change my mind about the Signature 9's - and if I break or lose one (both of which I've done multiple times over the years) I'm covered. The only thing I can project causing me to turn in my 9.0's is if they come out with a Kirkland Signature 10 that I like better, then I'll upgrade.

I'll mention a few more things about Costco and their Signature 9.0's - Obviously you have to be a Costco Member which may be a problem for some, but for me it makes the expense 2% less because I know that comes back to me with my Executive Membership - the lead time on getting an appointment is much worse than with my Doctor though and I found that I literally knew more about hearing aids in general, than some of the people working there, but that's understandable because most of them have never even worn hearing aids.

I'm having a problem with the fit of the retainer that slides at the base of speaker that goes into your ear. It's too loose. Every time I take them out it slides up distorting the silicone tip causing me to have to slide it back down to the base - not a big deal, but a daily inconvenience. It would be better if it were tightly fitted and didn't slide freely as it does.

One of the unexpected things that I LOVE is the fidelity of the speakers, they are awesome, much better than my AirPods or even my very expensive Bose headphones and as good as the AirPodPros (not in terms of noise cancelling, but actual sound fidelity) I bought for my Son this Christmas. I'm hearing nuances in music that I've never heard before, I'm talking about, like, old Beatles tunes that I've heard many times, suddenly I'm hearing subtleties that I've never before heard - so pleasing.

These are the first hearing aids I actually enjoy wearing - noting that I'm most at ease, in my much quieter world, with nothing in my ears and no one around. Very cool when a device just works without needing to think about all it's doing for you and it transforms your disability into bionic results that exceed what's possible even with perfect hearing. Obviously this is a very personal process - lots of research is available, including a lot of good videos - consider the source and what they may be trying to sell or who may have paid them to say whatever - most importantly is what you actually need and helps you to live a better life. I hope something I've shared helps you make the best decision for you - I'm enjoying the sounds of 2020 and look forward to upgrading my hearing aids when technology makes the next leap forward...

My first experience with a Costco Hearing Center was horrible. Arrogant person would ignore my questions and complaints and insisted that the bad performance of the product was my fault. Turned out to be defective hearing aid. I returned the hearing aids since it was the return 180-day period. Later I went to a different Costco Hearing Center and it was like a different world. They listened to me about the issues I had had. They explained things in great detail, and were responsive to my needs in getting things done right. In the process of coming in several times to make small changes, so I could more easily adapt to the hearing aids. They changed receiver lengths and domes several times until they were most comfortable and fit best. Ended up with each side having different lengths and dome sizes.

If you have a bad experience with a Costco Center, call the regional office and report it. They will fix it. The 3 star rating reflects the average of an initial 1-star performance followed by a 5-star one. My only general complaint with Costco is that the Hearing Centers seem to not have enough staff, so sometimes it takes a while to get an appointment which they want to have you make for virtually anything. I have found though, that for minor issues, like changing receivers and domes, and even cleaning, you can just drop in and they usually do things while you shop the rest of the store.

Going to Costco in Tulsa, OK. for my first hearing exam there on July 15th, I received an unexpected surprise. I was the first to try and subsequently purchase the Kirkland 9.0 hearing aids. I was replacing a pair of Resounds that were eight years old and lacking in today's technology. Anyway, two weeks into wearing my Kirkland’s I could not be more impressed. Speech is extremely clearer as well as outside music.

One of the things I like most is the Bluetooth works flawlessly and doesn’t jockey for first place with one’s car system for example. Also, there is ZERO feedback at all times, even when putting them in or wearing headphones. I was a bit skeptical leaving my audiologist for a less certified technician at Costco. However thanks to today’s artificial intelligence and Costco’s attention to detail I was very pleased. My antique resounds cost $4800 eight years ago. To replace them at the same audiologist today would cost upwards of $8000 and would be the same except they would probably include wireless charging, which the Kirkland’s do not have. They are an EXTREME value extreme for $1500 a pair!

From the interaction with the front desk employee the qualification of a buyer to actually be planning on buying hearing aids begins while she described the highest end available units from KIRKLAND Brand first, reminiscent of shopping for a car at a dealer where the sales people are commission driven, not service driven.

The Kirkland Brand described was over $5000 a pair and the other brands were less but close to $3000 a pair. While online Costco advertises Kirkland Brand being available for $1599 a pair, and others being $1249 and up. The saleswoman said that Costco advertises the price of one hearing aid and that the prices for two are twice as much. I said that is disappointing and seems deceptive and she responded that she was not going to argue over Costco's advertising decisions with me. So we left. Review of the Rexton Adore Hearing Aids from Costco – April 2019 - I wore Oticon behind the ear hearing aids for 5 years and was happy with the product. However, it was time for an upgrade and I visited the Downtown Vancouver Costco Hearing Aid Centre, as Costco has the largest number of hearing aid centres in North America and their prices are very competitive. They a distributor of major brands of hearing aids. That made it appealing.

Testing at Costco - The staff was friendly, helpful and the hearing assessment I received was very impressive. They performed several tests in the soundproof both, including at what loudness levels I can hear speech. At the end of the assessment I discussed with the Audiologist what was important when choosing a product. I want to hear well, enjoy the latest hearing technological developments, have lithium batteries and have Made for iPhone hearing aids. The Audiologist recommended the Rexton Adore behind the ear hearing Aids to meet my needs and wants. Rexton makes the Kirkland Signature 8 hearing aids and customers are happy with these products. Rexton only makes the Adore product for Costco and I paid C$3400 for them.

Rexton Adore Hearing Aids - Once ordered they took 2 weeks to arrive. The fitting process ensured the hearing aids prescription were correct, and I learnt how the hearing aids worked and how to charge the built in lithium batteries. The charging cradle was amazing, there are no contact points on the hearing aids, so all you need to do is to slide the hearing aids in the cradle and it charges. I also received a size 10 silicon earbuds, which was larger than the size 8 I used before.

Experience after 2 months - All I can say is these are amazing hearing aids. The clarity of hearing is something I have not experienced in for many years. I can hear sounds which I could not hear before. At night when I take out my hearing aids, there is a noticeable difference when I am not wearing them. Hearing better has made this investment worth every cent. I had to get use to the larger silicon earbuds. For the first week my ear canal were very itchy, however I got use to them and they work well for me. The charging cradle works like a dream. I slide my hearing aids in every night and in the morning they fully charged. The lithium batteries last the whole day and when I slide them in the cradle, they still have two-thirds of the charge left. Nice to think I do not have to fiddle with changing batteries every week.

The Made for iPhone Bluetooth is not as good quality as the Bluetooth quality from a streamer. There are times the signal disappears. Fortunately, I read about this before getting the Made for iPhone functionality. It prepared me and I did not expect too much. I am getting use to the quality of sound and the intermittent disruptions when streaming music or phone calls. When making phone calls, the phone streams the calls to my hearing aids, however I have to use the microphone on my iPhone to speak. Hopefully, one day Made for iPhone will accommodate speech streaming from the hearing aids.

They use the Connect App on the iPhone to monitor the decibel levels I am exposed to throughout the day. The app has a few programs and they have limited functionality for my behind the ear hearing aids. The automatic functionality meets my needs. In Conclusion - I am thrilled with my Rexton Adore Hearing Aids and they were a great investment. The price I paid for improved hearing, was worth every cent.

I bought a set of Bernafon hearing aids at the Costco on Quincy street in Denver. When I was fitted I found the tones to sound very tinny and noisy. I was told that I would get used to them. I found that they did a very poor job of canceling out noise and I still could not hear that well. I went back four times over a period of three months, each time having to wait two or three weeks for an appointment. The hearing specialist doing the adjustment was not able to get them adjusted to my satisfaction and didn't seem to care.

When I complained I was told that maybe I should return them, which is finally what I did. I found neither the product or the service satisfactory even though the price was cheaper than most other hearing centers and came to the conclusion that you get what you pay for. If you have a problem having to wait three weeks for an appointment is ridiculous. I bought a set of Widex evoke hearing aids at a local center and love them. They were twice as much as at Costco but they were right from the first day. I had a minor adjustment after two weeks and got an appointment the next day. I think that the extra money was worth every penny and I appreciated being treated like a respected customer.

I am still working at changing the dome, I was not shown how to change it. Going in the store is not easy for me and they want to have me in for cleaning. I need to do it myself.

The convince is gone at a time of life when I need to have simpler. Because I needed new aids I was happy to have a clearer sound and able to hear better. I have had hearing for the last 40 years. A recent test (which was very detailed) showed that I have only 45% of normal hearing left in both ears. My mom and grandmother were very hard of hearing and they were never around noisy locations or equipment. I have been using Costco Kirkland hearing aids for about 15 years now. My hearing is deteriorating faster now. I called Costco at 19001 N. 27th Ave in Phoenix, AZ to have my aids adjusted. ** the Hearing Specialist did a VERY detailed test. She recommended installing a special high output microphone in my ear canal. Before the adjustment I would have to be within arms reach to hear most people and even then I would have to cup my hands behind my ears to hear some people, especially women and children.

Even with my aids on I could not hear all the noise that people with normal hearing hear all day lone i.e. ceiling fans humming, shopping cart banging, people talking only a few away, the turn signal going click, click, or the rattle of my diesel engine, the hum of small electric motors. I HEAR all of that noise now, but not the high frequencies sounds. they are totally gone. She explained that it will take time for my brain to learn to disregard most of the sounds and only focus on the important sounds. I can hear friends talking So much better. I can hear again, I can hear again and so happy with Costco and Eunice all for the expert help. Tried Costco hearing aids 8 years ago and returned them after a month and got rude treatment at that time in San Luis Obispo, CA. In November 2018 after a trusted friend said she liked hers I went back. Three months later and 4 visits to try to make them work (did not make any difference hearing wife or TV) I called to say I wanted to return them. Was told I had to make an appointment for the sound booth, which to me was a ploy to get me back in with a dispenser to convince me to keep them. Was even told I had signed a contract with that stipulation. That was a flat-out lie and I spoke with a store manager to say I was returning them and would not even walk back to the hearing aid department to do so.

To me that is a tactic to bully older people to get past the point of no return - literally - so they are stuck with hearing aids that don't work for them. They always keep mentioning that they are $3,000 less than elsewhere. What I know fortunately having a marketing degree is that price is not the most important consideration in a consumer's decision to buy, value is and if a product doesn't meet your needs it doesn't matter how cheap it is.

Instead of sharing how far out appts were available at the beginning of the call, all of my identifying information was requested up front. I spelled my street name six times and after the representative finally got it correct they said to me “hmm that’s an interesting street name isn’t it." I don’t think so which leads me to believe it still wasn’t taken down correctly. I was then asked when what I’d like to come in and what days of the week were better for me. I said, "Let me look at my work calendar and you tell me your first available appointment and I’ll see if I can move something around as I’d like to come in as soon as I can."

They then proceeded to tell me “sorry we don’t have anything until sometime in March”, ummm we are now in January. I added the Bluetooth receiver so I could send phone calls and streaming music to the aids. I have great personnel at my Costco in Milford, Connecticut. I had to replace two of them under warranty which was always a quick turnaround. Drop them off and then get a call three days later that it's ready for pickup. After my warranty was up they suggested to purchase an extended warranty for $125.00 for a year. That decision proved positive as the amp on one failed in April of this year and was replaced and the other side amp failed last week and was replaced in two days. Each replacement is brand new.

I now am going in for a hearing test and then an upgrade to the 8.0 model. Looking forward to the improved model and especially looking forward to connectivity to my iPhone X without additional headware. I went back a number of times for adjustments and yet I couldn't hear well. My husband kept asking if I was wearing the hearing aids because I asked him to repeat things so many times. Both ladies at the Wayne Costco in NJ were polite, but insisted it was my hearing loss that was the problem and not the hearing aid. I was told I had to look directly at the person speaking and they had to look at me in order for me to understand speech.

I don't need hearing aids when I am directly in front of the person speaking, I need them when they are beside me or behind me. I finally returned them without any trouble. However, it was not suggested that maybe another hearing aid would have worked better. There were no other options that were available. I went home and put my old hearing aids back in and could hear fine. I wanted new ones because mine were 5 years old, ugly pink ones that go into the ear and used batteries rather than being rechargeable.

I do not think Costco employs Dr of Audiology as they would be much more costly than the hearing Aid Dispensers they do hire. While my HAD is very nice and capable, I still wanted an Audiologist to program my aids. Phonak Brio aids sold only by Costco have an extra little chip in them that prevents anyone but Costco from programming or adjusting them. This was not revealed when I purchased them and I AM GOING TO MAKE A REALLY BIG STINK AND PERHAPS LAWSUIT OUT OF THIS PROBLEM.

Updated 11/28/2018: The Hearing Aid Dispenser (HAD) at Costco in Sacramento went out of his way to ensure that my hearing aids were able to be programmed by whomever I chose. My complaint with these aids is that anything with a long tone - just whistle and hold the note - sounds like it did when you were a kid and put your face into a fan and talked. Another way to put it is that it sounds like it's underwater. The tech was able to pin the problem down to the feedback protection that's built into most of the programs. Only the "Music" program turns off the feedback protection and remedies the problem. Otherwise, these are decent and priced well.

This was within $1200.00 of what another hearing aid salesman quoted for a set of Siemens. By comparison I spent nearly 90 minutes at Costco getting the most thorough ear evaluation and hearing test I have ever had!! I have owned 5 pairs of hearing aid all Unitrons so this is not my first experience. It was far and away the best.

Cathy ** did all the tests and agreed the Rexton KS 8.0 would be a fine choice. With help from Mike ** my new aids were fitted properly and programmed using techniques and some equipment I have never seen before. The time spent and way this was done was truly exceptional at every step of the way. The aids have so far performed far and way better than anything I have tried or owned to date.

I am set up for a return for a follow up to make sure I am happy and make any adjustments I think necessary. So far I am hard pressed to think of anything except a minor bump in volume in my right aid but maybe not. It's that close to being perfect in all situations I have been in so far. Did I mention I have no feedback under any circumstances. I will have them help me pair my new smartphone to the aids and that may well be it. I got literature on all the brands of aids they sell and will highly recommend this Costco. All this cost me $1600.00 + $60.00 for a membership. What more can I say except a 6 month return for a complete refund if I am not happy plus a 3 year warranty and 2 year free loss replacement. Hard to believe but true.

They muted voices when trying to filter out background noise. The buttons failed on one and were sent back again.

Upon their return I tried them for two days and they were horrendous. Going into a store they blocked our voices because they tried to block out the background noise. You only have volume controls and the software for the phone is useless. They are junk. I am trying to return them for something that will work but the insurance doesn't know how to do that. No cost for hearing tests, cleaning, or other hearing aid services. Just found out that their prices just dropped in May 2018. Their prices are probably close to 1/3 the cost of other hearing aid centers, and their brands are tops. If you have GEHA medical insurance with the federal government, they offer a no-deductible allowance of $2500 toward hearing aid costs. I received my hearing aids in Florida, in April 2018 from a very nice technician. I wore them for 2 weeks but I did not think they were working well. At the end of the 2 weeks we were back in NJ, at this point the hearing aids were dead. I called the hearing aid center in Wayne, NJ and the first appointment they could give me was a month away. I waited a month, went to the center, the woman at the desk did troubleshooting. In less then 5 minutes she said, she had cleared out the wax and the computer indicated that my hearing aid was programmed correctly even if it did not help me much. I wore the hearing aids for another 2 weeks and they went dead on me again.

This time I went over to the Wayne Center without calling and the woman said I could not be seen without an appointment and the first available was in 2 weeks. She suggested I call Clifton, NJ. I drove there without calling, they took me right away, changed the piece that fit in my ear. I wore them for another week, decided they were not helping me. I decided to go to a hearing center and get checked by the audiologist. The audiologist said the dome was too big for my ear and even if the computer indicates it is programmed correctly, the program may not work for the individual and needs to be fine tuned. After being seen by the audiologist, I decided to return the hearing aids to Costco. I went to Wayne Center, requested a refund, they told me I needed to make an appointment, first available was in 2 weeks. I drove to Clifton, within 5 minutes, I had my refund.

I bought my first pair of hearing aids from Costco in 2013 but these were to be the fifth pair I had ever owned and used over the previous 30 years. I had used three four previous audiologists with my previous pa but theirs and had been fairly satisfied with their advice and support, but I found the quality and attention to detail of the Costco audiologists to be outstanding. On top of that the aids were very good and the cost was about a third of what I would have had to pay if I had used the usual privately based audiologist. Since then I have purchased a second pair from Costco and last month I purchased my third pair. Both the previous pairs are still working quite well but my hearing has declined substantially over the past decade and the pair I just purchased (Phonaks) are a wonderful improvement. Once again the local audiologist is very effective and supportive of my needs.

Over the past ten years I have recommended Costco hearing aids to well over 200 others in a series of lecture and support groups on hearing issues aimed at late deafened seniors. All of those who took my advice and used Costco that I have heard from are also very satisfied with their experience. Costco is to be both congratulated and praised for the significant contribution they are making to the need for affordable and well supported hearing aids in this country. I am one of your biggest fans. I've also learned to use and appreciate many of the other advantages of Costco membership. I do, however, have two suggestions that might make the hearing aid centers even more effective.

First is their location within the warehouse. They should be located nearer to the entrance so elderly and otherwise handicapped people can more easily get in to use their services. The same consideration should also be given to optical and pharmacy services. I am now 86 and walking across the width of the warehouse leaves me exhausted by the time I get to the hearing aid center.

Second is that the rise in customers for hearing aids at our center has led to longer and longer waits for new purchases and support appointments. I think more consideration should be given to the client load of each center and adjustments in the size of the staff should be made as the number of customers increases in order to keep support and retuning timely and as well as well done. But from all of us who need these services, thanks again to Costco for helping to bring the USA into the 21st century on hearing aid prices, quality, ** and support.

The woman at the desk did not care at all that they made us waste two hours of our time when it was their fault to schedule the appointment at the wrong time.

I went to another location in Mount Laurel, NJ and tried to get another appointment. They said that they were booked for the whole month. Overall, the customer experience was terrible. I will not do business with these people. I prefer to go to a professional and pay more for a good product and have a good experience. With such terrible customer service, if you have any problem with the hearing aids, you will spend more money in time and frustration. These people do not care about the customer.

I had two other tests (Hearing test) the past three months and the one at the Los Feliz Costo was superior to both. It seemed more thorough, and the three beeps compared to one and two at the other places worked much better for me. The folks at Costco recommended me rescheduling my first appointment due to too much wax in one ear. I thought that was very very impressive. All three technicians were very good, but the one at Costco, Reginald Arceo, was outstanding, as were the ladies at the reception desk. I compared my older hearing aids with Costco's and the older ones compared favorably and Arceo actually encouraged me to stay with my old ones. Wow! I know where I am going when I really need new ones, and at almost half the price of the other devices. I am one happy camper.

I visited Costco to have my hearing tested. This was the 3rd company to perform a hearing test. The results of the 3 hearing tests were basically identical. Rather than list the other two companies I visited, the experiences were similar. Each test took about 1-1/2 hour and a recommendation was made for the type & brand of hearing aid. These ranged in prices from $3900 - $4700. Recommendations included rechargeable batteries, remote control, bluetooth capabilities, etc. All three of the companies program the hearing aids to maximize the results of your tests.

I found the big difference between the first two companies were owned by individuals with limited or no staff. Costco is a retail environment and many people may want to be coddled due to the $$$ spent. Costco provides a 180 day return policy, 3-year warranty, no charge return visits, etc. I did not find any service unique to the two other firms. The entry level hearing aid at Costco is $1699. The tester provided a programmed pair and had me walk around the store for 10 minutes. This was not offered by one of the other firms.

So my dilemma is to figure out spending $4700 or $1699. I have never worn hearing aids and all three firms stated that hearing aids last 3-7 years. Laying out $4700 every three years is not an option. Based on the 180 day return guarantee from Costco seems to be the option I will pursue. The other firms offered 45 & 60 day returns. After I get my hearing aids from Costco, I will return and provide another review. I felt that the Costco employee (Rachel) who performed the hearing test was knowledgeable and pleasant.

Some of the Costco Hearing Aid Centers have good folks, most do not. They do not return phone calls, do not listen to your issues, don't care. They do not even check the programming to be sure you have the programs they tell you do. Great program, crappy supervision. Supervise your employees, so at least they work the hours they are charging you for.

I finally was fed up with not hearing normal everyday life. I work at a check cashing company behind bullet proof glass so hearing my customers was a huge task. I relied on my ability of reading lips but still struggled especially when I would look down at the cash drawer to get change and so forth. My Boss at the time gave me an ultimatum to purchase hearing aids or lose my job. He actually took me to Costco hearing center, did the hearing test, the audiologist suggested the ReSound Future. Noticed a huge improvement in hearing. Came home and turned on the TV to the volume I became accustomed to listening to and was blown away about how loud the TV was. Had an OMG moment.

The only downside I have noticed is they keep sliding out of place. Maybe if there was something to hold them in place they would work better as the hearing aids have become a nuisance to wear them. Feel like my ears get irritated. I think I read somewhere someone suggested a little baby oil on the tips. Hmm not too sure. I'm thinking of getting a pair of in the ear hearing aids from AccuQuest for 4900.00. Not sure if that's a good price...

I had my hearing tested at my regular medical clinic and noted a hearing loss in low-frequency sounds. They said that hearing aids would cost about $5000 and there was a six-month wait??? One of my friends suggested I try Costco. The hearing test was free, and the results were pretty close to what the regular audiologist found. I tried a pair and walked around the store, noting that I could hear subtle sounds I'd missed before. So I ordered a pair of ReSound at $3000. Quite a bit of money for a senior, but better than my previous quote.

When they arrived two weeks later, the technician explained how to use them, how to pair with my cell phone, etc. And we scheduled follow-up appointments. I did not tell anyone at first because I wanted to see if they noticed any difference. They did. Every one of my friends noted first of all that my speaking volume had lowered to a normal level. Then they said that I was hearing them correctly and didn't have to ask them to repeat themselves. My usual practice was to ask someone to repeat, but if I had to ask again, I just skipped it -- and missed out on the conversation.

I especially like the cell phone connection because it lets me adjust the hearing aids for restaurant settings (tune out background noise, focus in on my table, etc.), music and TV (adjust bass and treble, etc.), outdoors (tune out wind and other distractions), etc. I can also preset "favorites." For example, if I meet often in a certain conference room, I can preset the volume, ambient noise level, etc. I like the ability to use the phone in my car and have the conversation go directly to my hearing aids, or I can use the car speaker instead.

My model fits over the ear, so I have to be careful when brushing my hair or else the device gets tangled in my hair and falls off. So I just remove them now when using hot rollers or a hairbrush, etc. My only disappointment was that I took the hearing aids in for monthly maintenance, which the technician said was a free service. But when I took them in, the technician (a different person) said no, they didn't do that. She gave me the supplies and showed me how to do it at home. I think that covers all the bases. It's been two months, and I'm happy so far.

I went to the Roseville Store. There is a gentlemen there that talks politics, is racist, and I was offended. The women that work there are simply not interested in customer service. It is a one hour, round trip for me and I have gotten there and been told that they don't have time to service my hearing aids, to come back another time. I have made 3 trips to replace my current hearing aids. The place needs a new manager. The only thing that any business has to sell is customer service. I can buy product anywhere. I want to be treated like a valuable customer and that is not happening there, with the exception of one young lady named Linda.

Most important for me is that hearing aids relieve the horrible ringing in my ears. That also implies I an hard of hearing and need the devices. I have been through three different audiologists about this and felt ripped off every time because they didn't care that much about my problem as long as I spent big $$$ on their devices. My latest examination was a walk-in because I was lucky and the latest Rexton version knock out much of the ringing and solve much of the huh? factor. It required a couple of trips in for adjustment and am now happy. The cost was less than half than non Costco and the guarantee is so much better. No wonder the others are whining. Now if they would solve the problem of locating a misplaced device using Bluetooth. That would really be something.

I tried Costco's Phonak Brio model. This is their top of the line model for $3000. I was really hoping that these hearing aids are as good as $5500 Phonak model I was sold by the local audiologist. I returned the $5500 ones wanting to try Costco's model and save $2500. Living on fixed income every penny counts. Unfortunately, this is is not the same product I tried before. It looks similar but features and quality of sound are very different, Costco model does not have as many features and it makes a big difference. I was told by Costco's audiologist that these hearing aids are made specially for Costco, I am not sure if it is good or bad. I could not hear as clearly as I did with non Costco model, especially in noise. I went back 4 times trying to make it work for me and finally gave up and returned these hearing aids.

I have had a very positive experience with Costco hearing center, here in Sacramento, CA. I had been to my hmo audiology dept.. It was a nightmare. Cost per unit $3000... 1 yr. warranty, 60 days to return for any reason. Problem was their hearing test was minimal, I did not feel was thorough. The audiology dept. canceled more appts. than they kept. I finally call Blue Cross and begged them to find me another provider, most were where I had already been. The others too far to travel to. They are the ones that recommended, 2 different customer reps told me many of their customers went to Costco, which was by far the cheapest I had found thus far, the staff was a pleasure to deal with, the cost $2800 for both ears plus a free "Soundgate" bluetooth that is linked to my phone, so all my phone calls comes thru my hearing aids.

I did a lot of research for various different businesses. The costs were utterly ridiculous, 4, 5, 6,000 per unit. Most patients are seniors, what senior on a fixed income can afford these prices. But the most common comment I heard from all is all hearing aids are basically the same technology, there are usually 3 price levels for every brand, the differences are in the "brand name", "type" you get, i.e., inner ear, over the ear, style, etc. I love my hearing aids. My hearing has never been better. Follow up appts. are free, the initial test was much more thorough, and better explained to me. I have been back 3-4 times for questions and some adjustments for the programs that are not working for me. The batteries are really cheap, 7 mos. worth for about $20 or so. I cannot think of a better place to go for this product.

Alas, I think you truly get what you pay for. Since the hearing aids were not custom fitted they are extremely difficult to insert. They even had to remove the domes for me, because they were too large for my ears. They are uncomfortable to wear, I cannot seem to get a "useful" sound level, and I avoid wearing them. They are no bargain. They sit in my house in their box 99% of the time! If I do wear them, it is a relief to remove them.

I am a 74 yr old 3 time buyer of hearing aids (over 10 yrs) and a retired hospital CEO. I think I know something about medical professionals and value for your dollar. I purchased 1 from a private practice audiologist and two from Costco. I rate my experience from Costco a 5 and from the private practice a 3. When you look at product technology, prices, trial periods, warranty and going the extra mile to get the job done, I rate Costco (Frisco, Tx, Plano, Tx, and Gypsum, Co - where I have a second home) as excellent!!!

I am on the latest generation Blue Tooth & wireless controls. While my baseline hearing has gone down (based on unassisted hearing tests) the quality of the product has gone up. I am literally staying even to a slight improvement in my overall hearing and speech recognition. I paid $7,625 to the private audiologist and less than $3,000 for the two upgrades at Costco. Costco products have the same specs and manufactures and are branded differently so the private practice guys don't get upset with the manufactures selling them to Costco cheaper.

All of us consumers need to be more market based purchasers and not let the medical cartel convince us there is some mystic in some of the basic products and services we need in our day to day lives!! I am a two time cancer survivor and would definitely recommend going to a tertiary treatment center for something like that, but hearing aids???

I spent $3000 on hearing aids was dissatisfied and returned them. Instead of crediting the difference to American Express and thus keeping the warranty, they put the refund on an internal Costco cash card thus voiding the original AMEX warranty. When the new hearing aids were lost, I found that the warranty was void because Costco did not refund on the original AMEX. Costco does not train their employees. The warranty I lost was worth 2799.00. If you buy anything at Costco, be extremely careful with the paperwork on returns. Although Costco no longer honors American Express, they are still not knowledgeable on how to preserve a warranty. They should be ashamed. I lost $2000.00

This is my 4th pair of hearing aids and I decided to try Costco this time because I had heard such good things about their hearing aid department. The difference between going to Costco and going to an audiologist is the atmosphere. If you can live without a fancy looking office and you don't want to feel pressured into buying an overpriced hearing aid, often financed on the spot through Comenity Bank. They specialize in financing for medical equipment that insurance doesn't cover and READ the terms carefully before you sign. They are doing you NO favor. Costco sells the same hearing aids that audiologists carry at a significant discount.

The man who did the testing and fitting seemed just as knowledgeable as any audiologist I've been to. They do not earn a commission so there is no pressure from them either. He tested and fitted me with new aids the first visit. I was the one rushing this deal because the devices I purchased less than a year earlier never did feel good and I never could hear with them. After many appointments. I've gone back for some fine tuning and to pick up my remote and I'm very happy. They also give you a 180-day trial period and if you don't like them you get all of your money back.

You pay thousands and they won't repair the hearing aid you have, and won't sell you one individual hearing aid. You must buy a pair. Is this because this is the perfect timing for them to get you to buy. What kind of racket is the hearing aid business doing and especially how are they targeting the elderly in taking their money. It appears that they have a monopoly on a health product targeting the elderly. Fix the hearing aids even if they're 20 years old. The updated hearing aid was now continuously hissing, like static on a radio. I had to make a return trip to COSTCO when I couldn't stand the noise any longer.
