We call because our ice maker stopped filling with water, so the first thought was since we had recently had maintenance on the system (Oh BTW your yearly maintenance serviceman dropped the ball and left us with a canister that had mold in it. For months I was tasting mold and thought it was Vegas water. Instead it was in the tank and I had to call you to change it.) I think that should have been caught, and would have been the purpose, in part, behind the yearly maintenance. But we were decent. We did not pitch a fit or make threats. We lived to talk about it. You did change it out after we called and so we moved on.
Then the ice maker stops working. So before I pay $25 an hour for a handyman to troubleshoot an ice maker I figure I would call and have you come out and make sure that in changing the tank there was not air or some other reason for the water to stop flowing. We were NOT told on the call to schedule an appointment, that if there was nothing wrong you would charge a service call. Nor is there anything written anywhere on your website. There is no paperwork, agreement, contract or even a leaflet given at the time of startup that states your policies for your customers to know that you charge a service fee.
Since we have had you for a while my mother gave permission for automatic withdrawals of the service fee every month. So a few days ago she saw you took $115 more out of her account than what you should have. There was no notice, no invoice, no mailing, not even a lousy phone call to tell her that you were deducting this amount of money. Now you say that the repair person told her that she was going to be charged $115. First I was here that day in the office and he never said anything about any charge. He never gave her any receipt, invoice, nothing. Not to mention that if you are going to charge a service call you do not schedule and perform the service call and THEN disclose you are charging the person. It's like taking your car to a repair center for them to troubleshoot and then get billed for repairs that you did not authorize. It is illegal. Not to mention unethical.
Then it took you a day and 1/2 to call her back and tell her there was nothing you could do for her. So did you discuss this with Andy ** first? And if so Mr. ** you should be ashamed of yourself conducting business in this manner. I am shocked -- after so many years with your company, to have my mother treated this way is reprehensible. So this is what I am going to do: I am reporting this to Consumer Affairs, also to the FTC, and the BBB. And then because there is no record anywhere of this charge and no disclosure was done on the day we called I am looking into reporting it as a criminal matter since you took it upon yourself to access her bank account and remove money that you were not given permission to do!
Now how do I know that this fee was never disclosed? I will tell you. I decided for the time being not to do anything about the ice maker and we called you to see if they could come and disconnect the line to the refrigerator so the water would not sit in it. We were told on that call that to have someone come out for that it would be $150 and then an additional $150 to hook it back up. And you were told to forget it. Which is the same thing you would have been told had you disclosed that fee on the first call we made 1 week earlier. If we knew you charged a fee why would we call back, and then tell you to forget it. And finally, the poor training of your service technician's leaving a mold-infested tank and your manager Jackie's total lack of empathy of my mom's situation not to mention basically calling her a liar makes me wonder whatever changes you have made at this company is definitely not for the better!!!

Although these air purifiers are expensive is an understatement. Be advised these units are made with the technology used by NASA in their laboratories and on the ISS (International Space Station) and NOAA and a host of other federal agencies and is the best on the market IF the sales rep had the proper training and understood the operations of the different units. As a former rep myself I never had any issues because I attended one of the companies "Air Quality" seminars to get my certification to properly inform the client of the units (whichever one they bought) would be used to its full potential without any disruption of service. A properly trained rep can and will ensure that these units will do what they say.
I had my own service agreement to service these units while I was in the business but matters beyond my control prevented me from continuing on with my business as an Independent Representative. The best thing I can suggest the buyer or anyone having issues is to read the manual and or call the ECOquest help line. I still use the Duct Worx in my home and the UV bulb had just burnt out and I am ordering new bulbs for it but it does its job and I am thoroughly happy with it, but it is best used with a whole house unit to get the best effect and prevent the "sick house" syndrome.

I ordered a battery and charger from their website before Christmas. I received the charger with no batteries. I contacted them on Dec 27, 2014 by phone but got a recording to leave my number and someone would call back. No one called. I gave them the benefit of the doubt because of the holidays.
I called again Jan 9 and spoke to Igor. I sent another email per his request. He said I should hear from him on Mon. That was three days ago. I called again today and the call went directly to Igor. He claims he never received the email I sent from home. I resent it and sent a copy to my job so that I could send it with a sent and read receipt. Again, giving them the benefit of the doubt, I called back to tell him I sent the email and guess what? I got the recorded message to leave a message -- which I did.
That's when I found this site and decided to send this in. If I get a satisfactory reply from this company, I will probably never do business with them again. I will let you know what happens.

I called this company and talked to one of their customer service reps in order to order the correct 7 x 7 filters my FreshAir 2 machine sold by EcoQuestAir. They provided me with the SKU number of the filter and said I could order them online. I did order them online and they sent me the wrong filters. I called the company and told them they send me the wrong filters. The apologized, asked me for the serial number on my machine and said they would resend the correct filters. All this time I kept telling them the filter size I needed was 7" x 7". They said these would be the correct filters and sent me another set. Again the filters arrived incorrect. Once again they were 7.5" x 9" not 7" x 7".
I finally got in touch with the company manager (???) and talked to David who insisted on knowing the name of the person I had talked to weeks ago before he could make it right. When I finally gave him the name he refused to make it right anyway saying it was my fault!!!! Really???? I called to get the correct SKU number, they provided me with the wrong one yet it is my fault??? I asked him how many times did I have to give the measurements 7" x7" for them to get the correct filters for me. Poor customer service, Obnoxious sales person"David", Lack of integrity are a few of the things that come to mind when I think about this company. Save your money. Don't buy an EcoQuestAir.. Go somewhere where they treat their customers with respect and not like fools.

While they took my merchandise back finally, they charged me a $22 restocking charge! Here is the response I received from them when I questioned this..."If you read our policy, you know we did more for you than we could by the policy and you are still not happy. We did not have to honor that refund, but we did. Here is another sample when you try to do good for a customer, but it is not appreciated." I have never been spoken to this way by any company that I have ever done business with. Nonetheless, I will never do business with them again.

Since the time I purchased my expensive FreshAir Ecoquest air purifier in 2007 until now, I have gotten little or no support. At first it was just inconvenience. Now the purifier has stopped working and I take it EcoQuest is out of business. I desperately need an air purifier but don't know which brand or manufacturer to trust given that paying several hundred dollars with EcoQuest did not amount to a serviceable warranty.

I guess I've been one of the lucky ones but I bought my Alpine XL-15 over 17 years ago and had sent it in once after a couple of years for the ozone controller knob and have had fairly good success with my unit. I made sure I had to clean the ozone plates every 5-6 months and have done a complete wipe down a few years ago. The ozone generator would work with spotty results (I can tell by the sound of the current on the plates) and I just changed plates the other day and it's back up to speed. I have it set to the minimum so I just start to hear the electrical current running against the plates and just barely smell the ozone which I found long ago is all that's needed.
Like I said, I guess I was lucky to have gotten my unit when their quality control was good. I've since heard of a lot of horror stories only after I ordered a Fresh Air Spectrum UVX Air Purifier, supposedly new in the box on eBay, since I sure wasn't going to pay full price for these things. I also ordered new plates for the XL-15. So we'll see what goes. I may be back with another review. Who knows? I don't doubt your complaints. I've heard similar stories over the years. Maybe you can all get together somehow and form a class action suit? They certainly are not playing fair. Good luck!

I bought two machines in 2004 from a wonderful sales rep. I've had wonderful results with both machines used in four different houses and have replaced parts as needed following the recommended maintenance practices. They're worn out and the sales rep with whom I have to deal is so unpleasant that I've quit ordering parts and fear that I'll never be able to get replacement machines. Unless there has been some change, those with complaints about the smell need only to carefully read their literature and use one setting when they are at home and either of the other two settings when they are away. My housekeeper asked me why our house was so much dustier than it used to be. The answer is that our machine no longer works. She used to be able to use a Swiffer duster in a 3,100 sq ft home for two weeks. Now it is dusty enough to change after just five days. My only disappointment is that I'm afraid to trust the current company because of the obnoxious foreign sales rep named Michael.

She breeds Labrador retrievers, so it's not unusual for her to have lots of puppies around. Her house always smells fresh and clean, so I bought one. I have always had good luck concerning the warranty with Alpine/EcoQuest. I also have a dealer here that is awesome. My daughter has asthma and the unit has defiantly made a difference. I purchased Alpine's newest air purifier model. I have asthma and could not understand why my breathing was more labored, when I received the unit. I also noticed an odor, which was described by the company, as the smell of the air before a thunderstorm. In the opinions of my friends and family, it was awful. I called the company and was told that I should keep the unit, as the odor will decrease. The air purifier made other claims that the unit did not live up to. The unit I had did not remove bad odors from the room. I tested it with my son, as he smokes. I was very unhappy with the results, or lack thereof. I called the company and pressed the prompt for customer service. I got sales, as customer service was too busy to talk to me! I was told that a tech would call me and eventually customer service would also.
I finally gave up and called my credit card company! Finally, one of their managers called me, asking me to push buttons, and trouble shoot. There was a blue light that did not come on, so the man I spoke to realized this was not normal and asked me to return it. It cost me $58.33 to return a unit that I was very unhappy with! When I asked to be reimbursed for the postage, I was scolded by this company! They "claimed" that the unit was in perfect working condition and that I wasted their time and money! It was very condescending and unprofessional, and it was implied that I lied about the stupid blue light! I have never been treated like this by any company, ever! I believe what we do to others comes back to us, but I wish I would have known what I know now, thus I hope my experience helps someone!
I was mortified when I read what, Consumer Reports said about these types of purifiers! I now have an Austin Plus air purifier. I love it! I feel so much better now as it relates to (allergies and asthma!) give you 60 days to insure people are happy with their products! I lost my return postage, but I am very happy with my air purifier, love the air!

Like many others I am reading about, I too purchased an Ecoquest machine from an independent dealer in 2006. It worked great and I was more than pleased with it. However, it quit working about 3 months before the warranty ran out. I called my dealer and sent the machine to her. It was replaced promptly. I was told the unit came with a new warranty.
Last December, the new unit quit working. I called the dealer again and I was told the company was sold and they did not assume the responsibility of the warranties. I called Ecoquest myself and was told the same thing. Even though I was still under the warranty, I would not receive any assistance. So my take overall is that the units will work for about 3 years then stop working.

An email popped up about the fresh air surround. I did not know of the existence of this machine or what it could do. I thought that the cost was pretty steep. But my son was suffering with asthma and allergies. I was afraid that he was headed for shots because he looked so bad. And with record rain through the winter, we were looking at a pretty rough spring for him. So I took the chance to see if he would do better. And he did. His suffering gradually improved. Now a year later, he has, for the most part, stopped taking his medicine and is doing fine. I had to follow the instructions as to how to operate the machine. Be careful not to make the setting to high.

I purchased the above model (ecoquest fresh air machine) on 11-4-2011. On 11-14-2011, we were told to put the setting on the ozone machine to 3000 and leave the house for a week. Upon return and after the home had been aired out 24 hours, we were unable to occupy the home because it reeks of chlorine. Upon calling the representative, I got no help and all the company would say is that the representative had told me to put it on a setting twice what it should have been! My insurance company called the odor of ozone a pollutant and wouldn't help me. The company finally allowed a claim with their insurance company Liberty Mutual and they too have denied my claim. I have been unable to live in my home for 3 months and the ozone changed the molecular structure of everything soft in my home and lets off a horrible gas smell. So I lost my home and all my belongings and can't even find an attorney to take the case! I only wanted a solution to the smell and gases and to be paid for my belongings! I have asthma anyhow and my doctor has told me not to live there. So now with 2 homes, I am going to lose the house full of ozone damage!

There are 6 people that I sold to and became friends with and all 6 units are still working after 6 years.
To th people who complain about Ecoquest, I am curious if they ever placed more than one unit. Unless there is something that has changed in production and customer service with the company that bought Ecoquest, I don't understand how these people can make these complaints, but then people complain about Ford, Microsoft, IBM, etc... I have had countless trouble with the smaller ones. The representative has always taken care of the problem at no cost to me until this last occurance. I have not yet heard from her.
I decided to check out what I could find out about these machines and the company EcoQuest formerly Alpine I believe. I have been ill now for about 16 months with chronic cough , wheezing, lung and nasal congestion, labored breathing, faster breathing, and eye irritation. The data I found on these ozone producing monsters was horrible!
Although undesirable physiological effects on the central nervous system, heart, and vision have been reported; the predominant physiological effect of ozone is primary irritation of the mucous membranes, which I have had ongoing the entire time I've used these machines. I wish I had done the research before I decided to purchase from EcoQuest.

Honestly, it seemed as though it was being sent back for repair more often than it got consistent use.
Now, five years later, it is on the blink again and way out of warranty. Ecoquest wants to give me a discount on another instead of fixing this one. I don't want to buy another unit. I already paid for this one and it doesn't work. Now, unlike cars that are subject to stress to be repaired, this unit sits. Instead, in my last home, I had UVs put in my air handler units for less than I paid for the Ecoquest unit!
I would suggest a buy-back program where Ecoquest reconditions the units that don't work to sell to someone else who wants to take a chance. They could actually make out very well on that deal, selling them on eBay and at least previous customers who paid a mint for these things could get some satisfaction for the trouble.

In December 2009 my control panel went out and I contacted Eco-Quest, who is now DBG Group. I explained my problem and asked for the process to send my machine back for warranty work. After this request I was told that as of 12-01-09 they would not acknowledge my warranty, due to Eco Quest going into foreclosure. Then they offered me a "Deeply Discounted Rate" of $114.00 to repair the console and that I would have to secure a method of payment before they would allow me to send my machine back. How is this when they don't even know what is wrong with it, besides that the machine should be under warranty? This has got to be illegal, I was not contacted by them about terminating the warranty and neither was the dealer I purchased the console from.

I purchased an Atlas Air Purifier (model Silent Thunder LA-2400) on 07/22/2009. After a few weeks, the unit developed a loud vibrating noise. I was told how to adjust the fan blades to fix the noise. It didn't work so I sent the unit back for repair. They received the unit in new condition but when I received it back from their repair shop, the cabinet was damaged and it still had the same problem with the vibration noise. I called them and was told to find a fan speed where the noise was where I could stand it and leave it there. I cannot turn it up or down from there. I asked for my money to be refunded and was told I could receive a $50 credit. Also, I could sent it back again with a promise it would be in new condition when returned to me. No damage! I thought that should have been the case the first time I sent it to them. I refused. I paid $36 to send it to them for repair. I will never do business with them again. I moved this unit to a downstairs area where I cannot hear the racket it produces.

I was used by the EcoQuest representatives and I lost $2,500. I am now left with 4 faulty machines. I owned one of the original Alpine machines and I loved it. It quit working and I decided to look into something else. I was introduced to a couple that sold EcoQuest products. I wasn't interested in making money or selling machines - I just needed a machine for allergies. They duped me into buying a success pack and promising that these would be easy to sell. Later, I found out that they took a cruise at my expense. I should have known something wasn't right.
They harassed me for days, wanting to sell me their product. Then, they disappeared after the sale. Now, I'm left with 4 machines that are junk. I did sell one. I kept two and gave two away to family and friends. When I tried to clean the machines, I have to get my husband to pry the back off. The backs won't come off for cleaning.
I called the company and a rep suggested that we use a screwdriver. You don't use a screwdriver on an $850.00 machine. Now, one of my machines is making a surging noise and it just shuts down. The panel is jammed and the rep suggested I just use the remote. They just seem to gloss over the fact that their products are faulty. Could you imagine buying a new Mercedes with a jammed trunk and the dealership just tell you to pry it open with a screwdriver? I did contact the company for a full refund but they would only return half my money. I decided against that. I don't have any other recourse.

I bought an EcoQuest Fresh Air purifier on 5/11/04 for $444.50. I was very satisfied with this purchase except that I had to send it once in 2005 for a minor repair. On 8/28/08, I called to order a part and I was suggested by customer service to upgrade to new generation of Fresh Air purifier. I accepted their suggestion and upgraded to a new machine by paying $239.06. The new machine arrived partially dead on 9/8/09. This started a series of exchanges and most of the exchanged machines showed a common problem. Like first generation machines, these machines should have reminded to perform cleaning when the air passage gets dirty and air flow reduces through grills and filter.
In my understanding, like previous generation machines, there is an air flow sensing system in these new generation machines, too, which senses the air flow and sets the reminder. So far, I have exchanged 6 machines and 4 of those showed similar problems of not reminding for cleaning. As per operation manual, the user should perform cleaning every month (30 days) as a general maintenance. If the user forgets to clean, the machine will sense the air flow, check when the last cleaning was done and remind to perform cleaning. I have no way of finding this problem whether the machine is going to remind to perform cleaning or not before 30 days.
After more than a month, when I realized that the machine is not reminding, I called customer service to update the problem and exchange that machine. The exchange warranty is valid only for 30 days. After this period, the user will have to send the machine on their cost to get it repaired--not exchanged! Therefore, each time I call, I have to go through a big drama and aggravation to get someone to send me a new machine and get the faulty one picked up. I expected that customer service agent noted down all the information related to the problem on their end each time I called.
Unfortunately, next time I talk to these customer service agents and request them to read the problem in the previous machine, they will say that there is no information why the previous machine was exchanged. I cannot tell whether they are lying or telling me the truth.
Finally, I got tired of calling and sent them an email on 5/8/09 to start documenting communication. Initially, I wanted to get a clear email reply to resolve this ongoing problem. These people do not want to give me details in email reply to resolve this situation. They want to talk to me but I don't want to. I am very frustrated from their service and from the worst performance of their equipment. I don't want to talk to them anticipating that in the future, they may claim that they have no record of my communication and problem.
To resolve this situation, I offered them to pay me back $444.50 + $239.06 ($683.56), get their faulty machine picked up and I will forget that I ever knew EcoQuest. Of course, I have not received any reply related to this settlement offer. We have spent $683.56 buying the original machine and upgrading it.

We purchased an EcoQuest Fresh Air system on 3/10/06 from a local dealer for $647.71. The machine ran well for about a year and a half, and then quit putting out ozone (no smell as before). We methodically cleaned the unit when it put up the message to do so. At this time, we cleaned the plates and the unit, and finally just shut the thing off. Eventually we called and sent the unit in under warranty around August of 2008, at which time it was cleaned (~$50 cost to us). The keypad and LCD display was replaced as well as the ozone plate. We received it back and it ran for a few days until we put it on sanitize mode, after which the ozone smell again stopped. Frustrated, we turned the unit off and put it away as it hadn't worked in a long time and we were tired of dealing with it.
We again got around to calling them in January 2009 and shipped it back for repair, at which time they replaced the main board and the ozone plate. Upon receiving it again, we ran it for about a day and noticed it again was not emitting the ozone odor. I called them back and they sent us a shipping label. We sent it back (Feb 2009), at which time they merely replaced the plate. The unit put out very small amount of ozone, so we called back again and were put in contact with the customer support team leader. We placed it in a small room with minimal results, so they sent us another shipping label. We shipped it back to them (March 2009). The team leader noticed the lint filter was extremely dirty, but she was going to run it in her office and see what she found before sending it for repair.
She then called us and relayed that she agreed it was not working and she was sending back for repair. They have just finished looking at it (been a month) and nothing is wrong according to them, and they are shipping it back. I called this person and I was obviously not happy. She became condescending and after much arguing, I asked what I'd do if I get it back and it does not work. She said I can ship it at my cost, but don't bother sending it back as they will not do anything as it is working. It was not working; has not been working. They verbally agreed it is not working and now they claim it is working. I am sure the 3-year warranty is now expired, so that will be their next card and we have a $700 boat anchor. I am at a loss of what to do here, but I can guarantee I will never buy any product from these people again.

My work installed the Fresh Air system in its hallways and we noticed immediately the difference in odor, and a freshness that isn't often found in nursing homes.
I got one for my birthday, and I love it. I live in a perfect apartment but, unfortunately, its location and age has made it prone to mold. I've been sick the last 6 months (since moving in) with various colds and allergies ... none being resolved by anything more than time and cough syrup. Now I can breathe. Dust and pollen is down to a minimum. I love this machine!

Visitors to our house even asked if he had quit smoking. Yes, there was a fine white layer deposited. But that was the allergen particles which were no longer floating in the air but had fallen because of the ionization. The unit has run non-stop until about a month ago (Feb. 2009) when the fan motor quit. I am replacing the motor & will continue to use the Alpine. I love this purifier! Yes, it was expensive (about $500 in '97) but running non-stop for 10 years is, I think, a pretty good value.

My husband and I purchased this machine the Alpine Living Air Ozone air cleaner in 1999, about 3 months after we got it, I was having trouble breathing so I went to my Dr. for a check up. He said I had congestion and would need some more test. He ordered a PFT (pulmonary function test). He called me at 9 PM in the evening to say that I had emphysema. I went down to Westchester Medical Center for a second opinion after many test, they confirmed that I did indeed have emphysema. I couldn't understand it because I had stopped smoking 20 years ago and I had no health problems. My husband and I went hiking in the parks and fishing climbing up and down small cliffs.
After much thinking, I remembered getting the air cleaner and I started investigating them, in a fax I got from the FDA they stated the things that could occur from these machines and one was lung irritation. I immediately shut the machine off and contacted the company about what had happened. In return they wrote back how good their company was and so on. I told them to send me a refund and they refused. I contacted the N.Y.S. Attorney Generals office and while on a three way phone conversation they were told to send me my money back. About one week later, I got a postal Money order signed by Joe ** for $654.00. I now still have emphysema and always will, I take 2 different inhalers everyday and nebulizer treatments when I have a cold. The worst part of this is this disease literally takes your breath away and no company should be allowed to sell these things.

They were suppose to help with allergies and cut down on dust. My complaint is that the machines are broken down, all of the time. They stop working, or the ozone does not work, or the plates crack or the fan quits, on and on. Between shipping it in for repairs and parts and labor, they have been terribly expensive.
I have also noticed instead of reducing the dust, they put a fine white powder on everything. I purchased these from a vendor at the county fair and do not have a way to contact him anymore. I have had to send them in for repair to another dealer, that I found through a friend.

I have owned a Living Air machine for the last 11+ years and absolutely LOVE it. When I first bought it I became a dealer because I believed in the product so much. Unfortunately I never had much time to devote to the business so I finally gave it up. I found the article on this website shocking. For one thing, I was a dealer back when EcoQuest was not even in existence and it was just Alpine. I personally don't care why EcoQuest started as their own company or the politics behind it. All I know is that I have asthma and severe allergies. I would absolutely hate living without my machine.
Yes, it stops working occasionally. But, HELLO! It is a machine, like any machine, that needs servicing. If any dealer is worth anything they would give people the simple instructions to clean the darn thing. It's simple. Pull out the glass plate and clean with ammonia mixed with water. Then use plain alcohol on the rest. At least that is the way I was told to clean the one I bought 11 years ago and it works perfectly today.
Personally, I think the problem is not with the machine but with the people selling them. There are way too many looking at the dealer system as if it is a get rich quick scheme and they do not give very good follow-up customer service. That's too bad, because it makes the company and the product look bad as a whole. However, I know way too many people that have benefited from the machine that would testify to the company's claims that it works.
I have lent it to friends who had a kitchen fire and needed to get rid of the smell fast due to their newborn baby. I lent it to my mom when she was trying to sell her house. She was having trouble because the house had been smoked in for nearly 20 years and the stench was horrible. One week with the machine and the smell was totally gone. The stories go on. I have not been a dealer in over 10 years, but I would recommend the machine to anyone.

I've never experienced any problems or changes in my health - good or bad - after introducing the EcoQuest air purifiers into my home. So, I decided to sell them, and order a grunch of them.
Then - after a few months, I noticed that everything in the house which is made of rubber or has rubber parts was disintegrating. Rubber bands turned hard and brittle in a matter of a couple weeks. Anything rubber in the rooms with an EcoQuest air purifier running was effected more swiftly than in remote rooms without the purifier.
So, I did tests to determine if the EcoQuest purifiers were the source, and have determined they definitely are the source.
But, in the time it took to discover and determine the exact cause, I incurred thousands of dollars in losses. My DVD and CD drives in my computer both failed, because their drive belts disintegrated. My VCRs, DVD players and turntable all met the same demise; their rubber parts becoming hard and brittle then breaking. Repairs and replacement costs of everything that has been affected by this rubber disintegrating problem has been exobitant.

I purchased an Ecoquest Model FreshAir 2.1 from this dealer approximately 7 months ago. The first unit delivered worked for only 3 weeks and then the front control key pad failed to function. The dealer sent me a second unit, Not a new one, but one returned from another prospective customer that didn't want it. This unit was dead on arrival. It wouldn't even turn on.
The Dealer replaced the above unit with a third unit. This unit operated for 2-1/2 weeks and then completely shut down. The fan quit running, the ozone lamp shut down etc. The dealer gave me an RMA number and I, at my expense, shipped it back to Ecoquest for repair. I also called the Ecoquest repair center. I asked the Customer Service Rep. if they could assure me that when repaired this unit would at least run as advertised. The very curt response was that all she could guarantee is that the unit would be operational when they shipped it back to me. The returned repaired unit failed in less than five weeks with the control keypad becoming non-functional. I again called the dealer, and received the usual pep talk of how great the units were and how he would arrange for me to ship it back again for additional repairs.
I plainly stated that after spending $749.00 for the unit not counting the cost of shipping back for repairs, I didn't want the unit period. I wanted my money back. As stated I've only had the use of the Ecoquest for 10 weeks out of the seven months I've had it and it has been nothing but a constant source of aggrevation. My wife and I are over 70 years old and the $800.00 (Purchase + Shipping) we spent it had worked, would have been a good investment. We no-longer have any faith or belief that this unit or any unit from this company will ever work properly or keep from draining our limited resources.
The Dealer informed me neither he or the Company, Ecoquest would or couldn't refund our money but only let us keep shipping the unit back at our expense for more repairs. This to us is totally unacceptable and certianly in our thought process not an ethical way of doing business. IE: You buy something. It either works or if it fails you get it exchanged. If the second unit fails you give them one more chance. After your third bad experience you take it back and get your money back. We've given it four chances and are now told SORRY, we can't refund your money. So Much for Business Ethics - So much for Honesty - Damage not counting the aggrevation and frustration to us is the loss of the $800.00 we paid out of our Limited Social Security Income for a product which supposedly had a three year warrantee and satisfaction gaurantee.

HELP! We are SO SICK! On April 16th, 2008 a contractor who was working on my house installed an Ecoquest Fresh Air Living Air Purifier. I immediately noticed that all of the flies (about seven) he brought in the house with him were dead that night on the floor... I was thrilled, no need to go buy a fly-swatter! On April 17, 2008 our purebred Ragdoll gave birth to five healthy kittens. On the 18th, the first one died. I couldn't determine why, but I was also suffering headaches, dizziness and coughing, so I turned the unit off. I decided I was being silly and turned it back on on the 20th. That night we came into the house to find another dead kitten. I called the installer in tears. He came to my house and assured me that there was nothing about the purifier that would kill animals... so we left it on. However, I brought the mommy cat and her 3 kittens up to my bedroom off the main floor.
The next morning my nine year old daughter and I had splitting headaches and horrible respiratory problems, but we had a school field trip which I had 'been selected' to attend, so we dragged ourselves LATE to her school, and I slept on the bus, and through the entire performance which is completely unlike me, and was very embarrassing to me, but I felt so awful I couldnt stay awake. When we came back home, our own respiratory problems immediately got worse, and my daughter started having asthma like symptoms, and I had trouble with my vision. That was the 21st of April of 2008, and when I went looking for our cat, we found her dead, but still warm. Searching the house, we found that our beta fish and my daughter's hermit crab were also dead. The three kittens were still alive in my closet.
At this point, I grabbed the kittens and we vacated our home. I called our vet and they recommended a necropsy report, but I was too scared to re-enter the house to retrieve the dead cat and the kittens in the trash until the evening of the 24th. I buried our beloved cat and took one of the kittens to the VCA hospital. On April 25th, my daughter and I were so sick again that she didn't go to school, and I started researching this air filter, only to find out it emits ozone, which is a toxic gas when it combines with air, and that it has been proven to cause respiratory problems in children, the elderly, and person's who supposedly have a 'weakened immune system'.
I have since called the Animal Poison Control Center, and the Human Poison Control Center. I have a carbon monoxide monitor in our home, and we have electric heat, not gas, but I also asked our neighbors if they had used a defogger without our knowledge. They both said No. I am considering calling the Fire Department to have a Hasmat team come and determine the levels of ozone, or poisoning in our home, becuase something is killing everything under four pounds, and making us terribly sick. Please contact me if you have any more information.

I was a former dealer for this company. They recruited me into their multi level marketing program and while they were doing that, their air purifiers were under scrutiny by the California air quality officials who subsequently banned the use of most ozone-generating purifiers in homes (refer to L.A. Times September 28, 2007) in California. I have contacted them several times regarding buying these air purifiers back, with no response. If they knew this was in the works, why were they recruiting dealers in California and why didn't the company buy back these air purifiers from California dealers? And, I don't think the California dealers should have to pay to ship these machines back. I think EcoQuest should take care of these matters.
Consequently, I am out of pocket to the tune of at least $2,400 and the boxes sit in my back bedroom taking up space. Now, if I try to sell these air purifiers in California, then I am subject to fines.

I did this today 3/10/08 and I have not heard back from anyone yet today. I told them I could not sell this product if I could not even use it myself. My family is very worried now about my health.I have autoimmune problems and now this is all I need. The product was suppose to help people, not harm them. Someone should stop this from happening. People, please watch out for your health and your pocket book.
I do hope that they will let me return all 5 Fresh Airs and not be charged for them. If I am charged this will be very harmful to my finances. Our daughter is getting married in August so that is why I went into this business to make money for the wedding that we do not have. My husband is a salesman in the construction business and times are very hard out here in California. If this company does not do the right thing I will be hurt. Even to ship the product back will hurt me financially, if they charge the 10% return fee that will be at least $250.00, again a hardship.

to BC, Sept/08 and I put the air purifier in the apt. downstairs. I
was told by Kati Bishop/Linda Roberts

We had no furnace just electric heaters so I checked the internet for
Ozone air purifiers and found to my

She had to take time off work, lab

infection...THANK GOD we caught it
in time, no one knew what was causing
it. I immediately removed the airpurifier and wrote Kati Bishop asking her some questions. She in turn said her purifier was great and filled the house with fresh air. I asked her
about 'ozone' and I mentioned that
Health Canada was not in favor of them.
She thought I was going to sell them,
and she said Oh, I think Health Canada
makes too much fuss about ozone(I have it in writing) that she said
that...and a few other things in writing, answering my questions.
I asked for her supervisors no. 3x

This is not a complaint, it is a testimonial.
I was contacted in response to a work from home ad on the internet. I was asked to go to the web site and see if I was interested in technology and products. I was. I therefore ordered a unit to evaluate. I had been sick for over six weeks and could not get over a sinus infection. I had just finished my third round of antibiotics and still had the infection. My energy was depleated and I was not seeing any improvement. I had a CT scan, which showed I still had the infection. I was told that I may have to have surgery.
I received the Fresh Air on Dec. 26, 2007. I followed the instructions carefully and by Dec. 29, I realized I was feeling much better, I had more energy, and I no longer had a sinus headache. I felt like getting out of bed and doing things around the house.
I did not receive any medical claims from anyone. In fact the person I spoke to, said that it was not a medical device. Well, after being sick most of 2007 with sinuses infections on and off all year, this was a definite relief.
The only difference in my house was the purifier. I have no doubt the purifier has improved my quality of life. It is now March 5, and I have not felt this good in a long time. I became a distributer because of what I experienced. This business is just like any other business. If I work, it works, if I don't it doesn't. The machines sell themselves if the people follow the instructions carefully.
The problems I have found is that people do not listen to instructions and therefore do not allow the technology to work effectively.
The purifier omits a smell that is not offensive, just different. However, I can adjust the level of purification so that I am comfortable with it. My house has a clean smell. When guests come to my house, they have noticed how good they feel while visiting. I have had several guests spend the night and those who have allergies from pet dander, dust, dust mites, etc., have enjoyed a noticeable relief while staying at my house, inspite of my having two dogs.
I am convinced that people who complain about this technology have not followed instructions. The best example I can give is that stoves provide a great need, but if people do not follow instructions on operating them, people can get hurt by stoves. Are we to ban stoves because of people's carelessness?

It's been over a month now, and every time I call them they will tell you to state your name, and then the answering machine says they are unable to locate them. They said the product was guaranteed for 3 years. This hasn't been over 6 months. And it hasn't been working for about 2 of those months.

I am an EcoQuest distributor. Everyone of their air purifier products I have purchased and sold have failed within the first 3 months of use, including all of the units I have used personally. The defective units have to be shipped back to the factory, at the owner's expense, and when the unit is returned, supposedly fixed, it fails again, and the whole process has to start over again, at an incredible cost of shipping charges. The company refuses to take the defective units back and refund my purchase price, so I'm left with a lot of equipment that no one will buy anymore, because of their extremely high failure rate.
One of their portable product's battery charger falls apart when trying to unplug it, exposing 110V electricity to the person, and several have been shocked, including myself. The actual unit itself has been reported as hazardous, but the company refuses to take the units back and refund my purchase price of the units. Also, the air purifier's operation causes rubber within its range of operation to harden and disintegrate, disabling audio and video equipment, and everything else that uses rubber parts. As a test, a package of fresh rubber bands were placed in an open container in the same room with an air purifier, and well as another package of the same brand rubber bands in a completely sealed container. The rubber bands in the container exposed to the air purifier's operation hardened and completely lost their elasticity within 2 weeks. I've had this same complaint from customers, and from other dealers, but the company refuses to acknowledge their air purifiers are causing the problem.
I've asked EcoQuest to take back all of their equipment they have sold me, and refund my purchase price, and extend the same to my customers, but they said the problems I'm having with their equipment is not their problem.

I was looking into an opportunity for a "Christian" company. Turns out that it was a multi-level opportunity. I told them that I wasn't really interested in the opportunity, but the product seemed interesting enough to try. It was an Ionic Breeze. This was going to take out all the bad stuff in the air of my home. Seemed so good, I went ahead and put down the deposit to try the product for 30 days. This product worked well in our downstairs open area. But when we wanted to try out some of the other features... such as the sanitizing, this product didn't work so well. The first try, I put it upstairs with the windows closed, the door closed and turned on the machine just like in the video.
After a short amount of time, I believe it was only 1 hour... The room began to smell horribly. I contacted both Sandi and Neal in regards to this smell. I was informed that many times rodents or such die in the walls and this is probably what that smell was. Although I was not convinced, since the smell was not a dead smell but more of a synthetic smell and stronger than anything I had ever encountered. They asked me to do this sanitizing another time. I did and this time, I was told to leave it run for two hours. I did.... the smell got even worse. Then I was told that occasionally a unit is bad and that I should take in and put the box on it upside down and let it run for two hours to "Clean out" the product. I did this, but this time in the garage. Then my garage smelled...
I finally told them that this is not working for me and I was sending the product back. When I told them this, they were very nice about it, telling me that they would be having the unit pulled apart and let me know how to get that smell out of my home. This was back in April and May.... Here it is September and not only have not received any contact from them, or answer to my inquiries about my home odor... I still have the worse smell you could imagine and it causes sinus issues with my family as well as headaches... It is an absolutely toxic smell. We have tried shampooing the carpet, washing the wall, drapes, removing just about everything from the room thinking it might be something in the room, and nothing we do helps. We just want this issue fixed and the smell gone. It seems to me that the smell was not there before this unit and for some reason it is staying with us after the unit is gone.

The rep who sold it to our office is a patient. I told him about the symptoms but he only responded by saying oh there are about 1 in every few thousand woman who are highly sensitive to the machine. When I asked him to elaborate on their health issues and symptoms he would'nt answer he just replied by telling me that in our small office we only need to run it a few times a week at night to sterilize the office.
Personally I think this machine is putting too high of a concentration of peroxide and or ozone in the office. WE have no way of changing the air. In less than two months, a grey, carbon-like film had infiltrated itself into my freezer, refrigerator and on practically every surface in the house. I thought there was a problem with the central heating and a/c, so had the apartment manager send out a repairman. There was nothing wrong with the filter or the central heating or a/c... but he found the EcoQuest to be full of a carbonate substance which was greasy and hard to wash off. It was disconnected that day and put in a box.
All attempts to reach Mr. ** or his "helper" have failed... He does not answer his phone and, though I've left many messages, he will not return my calls. Nor will his helper, whom I only know as Celeste. I've called and emailed the office of EcoQuest in TN and received all kinds of reasons why the filter didn't work... from the fact that it shouldn't have been placed on the refrigerator to the fact that I burn candles.
Economically, the unit cost me $725. I then had to pay a carpet cleaning service $225 to remove the built-up soot in the carpet and paid a cleaning service an additional $225 to wash down the walls, which were covered in a grey, greasy film. I have COPD, so have no idea how much the film has affected my lungs.I have pictures of the damages and witnesses who saw how the film looked on the walls and inside the freezer, refrigerator and cupboards. This feels very much like a pyramid scheme to me, and I'm really furious with myself for allowing myself to be taken in by this scam.

I had actually purchased 3 Classic Alpine/Ecoquest Air Purifiers for my home. Although sold to me as brand new, one of them had to be sent back 2 times for the fan never working correctly and then it simply didn't work. I am very upset that the unit was over $900.00 and never worked correctly. The customer service line will leave you on hold for over 30-45 minutes and more, and the units are very heavy to carry to ship back and forth. It is time consuming and tedious to get through, and disappointing when they do not resolve the issue and you still have a unit that does not work properly. I am tired of sending the unit back with no resolution.
The first unit was the one with the sensor, and that caused all sorts of problems. I had to send it back several times because of the sensor unit not working properly, but this unit, which was purchased in 1998, is actually the only one today that actually works! I was told recently that I could turn the unit in and get $100.00 off a new unit. Wonderful. Then I will be out nearly $2000.00, and who knows if this one will work? I have yet to return the third unit, and have decided not to, and am currently researching an alternative air purifier.

I have a Breeze air purifier serial # 207173 which I purchased from EcoQuest while I was a dealer. The machine has quit working. I called to verify it was still under warranty, and was told it was. However, because I sold my remaining stock on eBay, the company would not honor my warranty on this personal machine.

I purchased two of the fresh air purifiers from the company last year (2004). After having to replace both units four times, finally got two that worked, that was about seven months ago. I have invested over $1000 in both units. As long as I was a dealer there was little problem getting them repaired or replaced. Unreliable machines, the one unit totally quit several weeks ago. Called the company, they gave me RMA and I sent the unit back... has been several weeks now and I haven't heard anything! The second unit has since then quit. The internal parts of these units are all corroding on the contacts and the plug-ins are all falling apart. The parts they are using are for copper wire, but the wiring is not copper... then corrosion.
Was going to report to UL, but I can't find a UL stamp on the label, have emailed the company about this but haven't heard back. I was rooked into becoming a dealer to get this great price... then go to eBay and they are selling new units at over a hundred dollars less than I can buy them. When I wanted to send the units back and get a refund, they said I would have to resign my position. These machines are suppose to have a three year warranty. I am afraid they are going to try to charge me for the repair… whatever is wrong.
The unit that they have for repair had problems several months ago with the wiring connectors falling apart. Had them replaced locally for I felt it was a fire hazard the way it was. The unit I still have here has the same problem now. The wiring connectors are falling apart and breaking off. I have very bad breathing problems is the reason I bought the units to begin with. They helped some for a short period of time. I am worried for when I did have dealer status, two days after I shipped a unit off, they had me another unit delivered. It has been over 10 days since I sent the unit.
If this is the way they treat their customers, I am glad I got out of it when I did. I sold a few units all went bad within the first three weeks. I did get my money back on them only because I threatened to report them. Have been looking for other brands of units to purchase. I am on a limited income and feel like I have been taken to the cleaners with this one. Who do you report bad electrical to if it is not UL Listed?
Something has to be done with this company. Shoddy materials, dangerous emissions, fire hazard, major corrosion and rusting of internal parts. It took me over a month to receive my first unit for the manager that took the information and my credit card # over the phone, used my card to buy supplies for himself not my unit. When it was DOA, I could not get it repaired or replaced for I did not have an invoice. Then it took another month to get the unit swapped for new one that had to be replaced again with a hassle due to no invoice.
I have been taken for over $1000 for two machines that do not work. One is at the EcoQuest repair center and the other just tore up. The units are not as efficient as they state. The results you get are short lived. When you clean the machine, there are very sharp parts inside that cut you up. You are forced to join this scheme to get the "incredible price" and then find the same product on the internet for over $100 less than you paid for it. Very bad customer service, repair service is not looking much better. Initially they used my credit card fraudulently, for something other than purchasing my unit.

I purchased an air purifier, the Classic, from an EcoQuest/Alpine representative several years ago. The unit has been in for various repairs twice now, and has failed again. The $600.00+ that was spent on the unit was alright with me, since it was repaired twice under warranty. Now with the third failure, EcoQuest wants $186.52 for repairs. Since that didn't set too terribly well with me, I looked into other avenues of repair and am now aware of the fact that the unit does not do what it was represented to do. It (was) supposed to kill mold, dust mites, etc. and be a safe product for home use. The question of safe ozone levels is an object of much concern all over the internet by persons that are in the air quality field.
The EcoQuest organization has misrepresented their product to me. Couple that with the secondary issue of an expensive item that either has reliability issues or EcoQuest's sub-par repair department and you've got some upset people. How can these people get away with misrepresentation of this magnitude? I would like to be refunded the cost of the unit--- and use those funds to purchase a proven product. I am currently waiting for the next person up the chain of command to return my call.

I became a dealer about 10 years ago. I wish I had every cent back from these inferior products they sell. I invested several thousand dollars and have spent several hundred on returning them to be fixed over these years. They are a piece of **!!!!! They do not have a toll free number. You wait for a minimum of 30 minutes waiting to talk to a rude person to get a code number to be able to send it back to be repaired. Just forget about being called back if you leave your number on the answering service.
They don't want to spend their money on phone bills either. You have to ask yourself, why are there so many people calling to return the machine that you have to wait up to 1 hour to talk to a complaint employee. It's always the ozone element that repeatedly goes out. No, I do not believe they are beneficial to someone’s health. I like the way it makes my house smell but not at the cost of 86.00 to repair and 12.00 to send back constantly. Get the word out there. They are crap!

Purchased and installed the ExoHelp filter for my Living Air Classic March 28, 2005. All I got was a photocopy of installation instructions with the filter. I had to contact the company for cleaning and care instructions. We have two exotic birds and two male cats with litter box. Cages and litter box are cleaned well daily. I noticed right away that my unit would not activate very often with the new filter on. The odors in our small house have increased daily. Today, I decided to put the original metal filter back on the unit to see if the unit acted differently.
At this time, the unit has been running active for nearly 3 hours non-stop and already my house is smelling better. I contacted Ecoquest to find out about returning this filter for a refund because I was not satisfied with the results. I expected fresher cleaner air as a result of this filter and did not get that. There are no written information in any of my paperwork regarding warranty or guarantees.

I purchased the Living Air Classic machine from Carolynne on 3/2/05. The purchase price including shipping/handling/tax was $672.36. I wrote a check and received the machine that day from Carolynne. On the third business day I contacted Carolynne via email and fax that my brother had in the past week become a distributor for the Living Air machines. I felt a greater loyalty to my brother to purchase the machine from him. I explained that in my email and also that I appreciated all of her time and efforts but I wanted to cancel. According to the sales receipt and notice of cancellation, I can cancel without any penalty or obligation within 3 business days.
Well from that point on there's been absolutely no cooperation from Carolynne. I called her twice. I emailed her again. I found my check was cashed on the 2nd business day. I called her cooperate office. They put me in touch with a mediator. I didn't understand but gave her my info and asked for her help. Her name is Vivian **. She has contacted Carolynne regarding the matter. At first Carolynne told Vivian that she had been ill and had a lot of problems. So I told Vivian I would understand and hope she takes care of this situation. Vivian asked me to give Carolynne a couple of weeks.
After 2 weeks I contacted Vivian again. She let me know that Ecoquest can not force Carolynne to refund my money. They could only try to help remedy the situation. Through several emails and phone conversations I learned today that Ecoquest understands my frustration and that Carolynne has not shown any intent to refund my money or pick up the machine. I let Ecoquest know I'd be taking legal action towards Carolynne. Bad business is BAD business. I have all of the documentation both written and emails for my case.

I was approached locally about a great new product, The Ecoquest Air Purifier. After listening to and reading a ton of material about the health benefits of this product I consented to go with this individual to an Ecoquest seminar in Greenville. Well I was sold. It seemed revolutionary. They were even talking about a product they were developing to eliminate the electric utility in your home. Since I had a history of allergy problems and I was interested in the claim that the unit would remove mold I bought three units. I hooked up two units in my home and one at my girlfriend's apartment.
I began to experience respiratory problems. On several occasions I felt as though I would have to go to the hospital because I couldn't breathe. At first it didn't dawn on me that it was caused by something that was supposed to help but through a process of elimination it became apparent what was causing these symptoms. The problem is I have lingering problems. I experience a constant shortness of breath and there is a gurgling/wheezing in my lungs that even my spouse (former girlfriend) can hear when she is laying next to me.
I have gone through a battery of tests - MRI, chest x-ray, breathing tests and allergy/asthma tests. No one seems to be able to determine what is wrong. I have gone through the pill process. Nothing seems to relieve these symptoms. Now I am starting to read more and more reports about the possibility that the ozone from these air purifiers my cause lung damage. The American Lung Assoc., EPA and Consumer Report all have referred to studies of this possibility. What can I do?

This is a response to complaints about Alpine Air machines. I am a dealer with 2 machines in my own home. I have sold 3 machines 2 have had to be repaired in some way with no problems. The people at Alpine have always been very helpful to me. One of my customers machines had to be sent back to the factory. The machine was 3 yrs. old. It came back like new at no cost to my customer. I paid shipping to Alpine because I'm responsible for my customers being satisfied. Alpine paid shipping back to me with a ticket showing all parts replaced. I checked back with my customer the next day and about every other day after for about a week. 600 bucks is a lot of money for something that doesn't work.
My 2nd customer had a fan motor burn out. I brought her machine to my house. Contacted Alpine who mailed me a motor. No charge to me or my customer. Over the phone they very patiently walked me through this. When finished I tested the machine before returning it to my customer. Again I checked back. My own personal machine had to go for repairs at no charge to me. You really can't ask for much more than that from a company. They have totally stood behind their product. We really cannot make medical or health claims. All people are different. I don't even try to sell my machine. My machine sells itself. If it helps their problem we are both happy. If not I simply bring it back home but they get to try it free for one week. The only stipulation is I call them every night to see how it's doing and if something needs to be adjusted or moved.
It truly is not right to just drop off a machine. Your customer needs to understand how they work and what controls do what. I truly am sorry for these poor business practices and lack of concern for the customers satisfaction. I do not want a dissatisfied customer. That is why I call every day. We have an agreement before I leave my machine we will be totally honest. I don't have a problem bringing a machine back home. There is a number on their machine and their receipt should have a dealer name and dealer number. Maybe they could call Alpine, ask for complaint dept. and report that dealer. It appears some need to improve their business practices and gain some integrity. I’m no longer selling the machines simply because I didn't have time for all the call backs and communication you should have. This is an honest company and they deserve honest people. Thanks, and again I am sorry these people were not treated better.

Scot ** and Dr. Mayra **, out of San Juan, Puerto Rico were my upline, even though there were many leaders in the business to have contacts with. Upon my response to their automated emails searching for "qualified business candidates", it probably read "INC. 500 Company Seeks Managers/High $$$ Paid" in the subject line. I was informed by them running the business may come to a couple $300 to $400. As it turns out, I've invested close to $5,000 into this business before finally resigning, and that does not include the cost of the 10 air purification units to sell as my inventory alone. It also cost me a fortune month after month to incur expenses for my website, voice mail box, plus making multiple long distance phone calls and listening to teleconferences, and horrendous prices of sending packages out to prospects. For the record, the selling of the units is part of the "distributorship" of bringing new dealers in the business. You are required to be "sold on the technology first".
Overall, the success curve relies upon new recruits to sell the products for the people who are top leaders in the business. Only the leaders make decent profits off the selling of the products, as a dealer you only earn a small commission. You also had to expand the business and get people to sign up under you to do the same thing, and it costs them so much up front cash to run the business as well. Your overall success curve relies upon not so much your individual efforts, but the efforts your partners put into it as well, because you earn profits off their sales. Since the very few partners I had under me weren't doing anything, it didn't help me any.
Meanwhile my upline is making a fortune off seemingly every initial investment that I or any person under me incurs into the business. As far as problems with the products, one out of ten arrived in damaged condition. When I contacted the main company to resolve the problem, they informed me I would have to send it back to them to have it fixed, which meant I would have to pay for the cost of the repair work, which for all I knew could have been astronomical. That's not all - I also had numerous problems with cracked ozone plates or broken lint screens which make the units fail to operate - and I would have to pay for the costs of getting them replaced.
In short, the "top leaders" in the business pretend to be guiding you through and helping, but in reality they are crooks out to drain you of your life savings. They cheat you of the cash you front, and give you little or nothing in return. $5000 is a heck of a lot of money to lose doing an MLM business. How can you be financially secure doing a business when it costs you a fortune to do it?
