I met this sales guy (fat guy with poor English skills) in Schaumburg, IL outlet on Golf road who doesn't know how to deal with customers. We went there once before, looked at all the available models and came back as we could not decide on which one to buy. When we went there for the second time, we got humiliated by this guy saying that he has a strong feeling we won't buy anything. In fact, we were very serious about buying the dining room table but really got demotivated with his behavior. Hope the company keep an eye on salespeople like him and reduce customer embarrassment. He gave us the quote and offered a reasonable discount but came up with this weird logic that we won't buy anything when my wife and I were discussing about the model we liked and asked him about the possibility of any further discount.

I was looking to furnish my apt and chose to shop with The Room Place despite all the negative reviews. I’m extremely happy with my purchase. Spent a little more than I wanted and I did feel like the sales lady was kinda rushing me but my furniture was delivered in time and the delivery men really had a struggle getting my furniture up the backstairs of my apt but they did it as quickly as they could and without complaining. I give 4.5 stars.

Buyer beware. Bought matrix couch and love seat just over 4 years ago had to have repaired twice for mechanical problems and had to rebuy warranty. Warranty is a joke. Hardly covers anything. In November both pieces started to crack all over not covered room. Place does not back up product. I have no little kids or pets. Waited till all were gone to finally get something. With all the bells and whistles bought cheap furniture. For over 50 years gave away in still good shape. So disappointed. Seats sunk in told normal wear. What's normal wear? It's just me and my husband and I don't even sit on it. Was so excited when we first purchased. Now embarrassed. Please do not buy from them.

I purchase a living room set with the warranty and I have an issue and bringing tons of excuses to not cover it. They told me, "You need to find your salesman." If you purchase anything from this company make sure you have a warranty that your salesman works there forever, funny right. My recommendation - not going near this company.

I purchased a loveseat and chair from The Room Place in Lake in the Hills Nov. 27, 2017. One year, 2 months later, one side of the loveseat is coming apart behind the top pillow, but it's at the seams so the extra warranty I bought doesn't apply. And because it's beyond a year, the basic warranty doesn't apply, so I'm out of luck. The chair I bought is also having seam problems. For what I paid for these items, I consider the workmanship very poor. I will never buy from Room Place again. And will never recommend them again.

I purchase furniture from The Room Place. Literally 4 days later my furniture collapsed. I inform The Room Place they did not wanna take the furniture back. They argued me back-and-forth if they can replace it and I told them I didn't wanna purchase anything else from them, when I purchase my furniture I had just purchased my newly remodeled home. However I didn't move into a week later. When I did, I notice that my hardwood floors were damaged. I immediately contacted The Room Place because that's the only furniture I had delivered to my home. They told me because I didn't report it within 48 to 72 hours that it was nothing they could do.

I was a little confused because they were aware that they did this because they actually had pictures of my floor. They also Damaged my new stainless steel refrigerator and had pictures of that as well. Their only concern is money. They don't care about the furniture if it's in good standing it is durable. I absolutely hate The Room Place. I would not recommend it and I will bash them until I receive some type of compensation a letter of apology something.

I ordered a living room set from The Room Place... When delivered, the wing of one sofas was missing. The delivery person said the missing piece would be delivered the next day. After not receiving, I called to inquire when the piece would be delivered. I was told I had to send pictures before they would deliver the piece. 1st of all, the mistake was theirs & they told me the delivery driver had already informed them the piece was missing (so why I gotta send pictures?). Anyway, I sent the picture & they said they would send the piece out.

When that piece was delivered with was the wrong color. I contacted them again, the CSR said they would send the correct color out & send someone to pick-up the other piece. I get a call the next day from The Room Place (while I’m at work) saying they won't send the right piece because they don't have picture of the wrong piece. As I said I was at work. I can't get a picture. I am absolutely furious... You would think they would have the decency to correct their mistake without making demands from their customer. Customer service I’ve ever experienced and I will never make another purchase from The Room Place again!

My wife and I went into your Rockford Store this past weekend with the intent of buying at least one room of furniture possibly more. We knew we wanted a bedroom set that you had on the sales floor, and since we just purchased a new home were also in the market for a dining room set, a dinette set, and some occasional furniture for our living room. I can state hands down I have never had a worse experience trying to buy a piece of furniture than I did with your company.

I had gone in originally to look at some of the pieces we had seen in an ad on my way home from work in the late afternoon on 12/31. I recognize this is New Year's Eve, and people had other things on their mind, but while there were a number of what appeared to be employees sitting on your furniture, none seemed willing to make themselves available to answer any questions. Again I did not have a lot of time that day, and I attributed it to the holiday. We came back this past Sunday January 6th. We were greeted at the door by a sales person named "Jimmy", we said we would contact him when we had a question. We looked at 2 bedroom sets that we liked, and decided on one. Your floor pricing was for a queen with 1 nightstand. I asked for the price of the same set with two nightstands, and a King sized bed. "Jimmy" said he would have to go to his computer and figure the pricing.

After a very lengthy time (in excess of 10-15 minutes), he finally came back with a price that he wouldn't itemize out, but that included everything we needed including "wood protection". I wanted the price on the bedroom set first, before we did all the add on's. "Jimmy" was unable to provide this. We decided to look at a dining room set, hoping that the pricing here would be a bit more transparent. While we were walking over to them, "Jimmy" came back and introduced us to a second gentleman who was supposedly his Manager. I can't tell you his name because he did not introduce himself. The individual was going to quote "look at the pricing", and "See what he could do". Really, car dealerships stopped this silliness years ago. We said fine, let us know what you can do. We then looked at dining room sets, dinette sets, living room furniture, and still no answer from the supposed Manager.

Finally after almost 30 minutes, I found the gentleman on the sales floor and asked him if he had the price for us. He replied with "Oh I thought you might want to add more items to this, so no I have not looked at it yet". He then left to answer the question we had made over half an hour ago. Another 10 minutes went by and no reappearance of the "Manager". I finally told "Jimmy", we were done. I felt we had done more than enough to get an answer to the question. "What would this bedroom set cost us".

I can say in complete honesty, I would never recommend your company to anyone who might be shopping for furniture. The experience was at best incompetent, and at worst rather sleazy. (Here is our price, oh don't like that price, let me get my manager and see what he can do). Please, for the next poor uninformed person who enters your store, drop the car dealership sales practices, be fair with your customers, and please hire people who will answer a simple question with a timely answer.

I purchased a sofa and chair in April of 18. From the start, when anyone sat on the sofa it made a terrible sound as if it was ready to collapse. I had a technician come out and he put screws in the wood underneath to "reinforce it". He said if it continues it would need replaced. Well it got worse. They sent another technician out in December who said he would have to come back and put two more feet in the middle and more wood underneath since it looked to him to be missing from the factory, and will likely collapse over time. I received a call from The Room Place a week later saying they were not doing that or anything more and will not replace the sofa either. There has been no overweight people sitting on this sofa, myself weighing only 185 lbs. It's an embarrassment when having company over. I tell everyone who sits on it where it came from and to never buy anything from The Room Place.

The second one arrived, appeared to be correct (2 pieces snapped together fully electric). Delivery guys seemed to be distracting us and I know why! One side is darker and smooth and does NOT match the other side of the couch! Immediately called the store manager and they refused to have the delivery guys come back. Said we had to turn in a claim with pictures. We did... They called and denied it as it wasn't a defect in their opinion! Customer service person who 'goes by Camille' wouldn't give her last name or provide the refusal in print. We have turned this over to the Attorney General's Office.

Hello, The reason I am reaching out to you is regarding a complaint I have about The Room Place. While Googling to see if anyone else has stories like ours I stumbled about your NBC 5 Responds story regarding peeling furniture. My husband and I bought our first home in Elmhurst, IL in July of 2016. We were moving in in August so we got right to furniture shopping. Before we closed on our home we had shopped around different furniture stores to see what was out there since this was the first time either of us were furnishing a house. While we were at The Room Place we had picked out our living room set. We had spoken with a store associate and we were never led on to the fact that we weren’t buying anything that was not real leather. We did not want to make the purchase just yet since the 4th of July weekend was upon us and we assumed there would be better deals then.

We placed our order of our Power Reclining sofa, loveseat and recliner along with 4 piece bedroom set. Our “leather” living room furniture came out to $4,000 and that is after the sale price. We spent a total of $5000 counting the bedroom set. We also purchased the PREMIUM PLUS LEATHER 5 YEAR PROTECTION PLAN. Within the last year and a half we have notices orange spots, crackling, and fading on our living room furniture. The color of our furniture is burgundy to as you can imagine the orange stands out greatly. I first contacted The Room Place in September of 2018. I called customer service and she told me to email askus@theroomplace.com. So I went ahead and emailed them. They told me to email pictures of each item in its entirety which I did them too close up so they denied them and then I did them in their entirety and then denied them again because the photos were too big.

October 6th was the last time I sent photos. I hadn’t heard anything as of October 24th so I decided to email them asking what was going on and I told them I would report to the BBB or news if I wasn’t going to get an answer. 3 days later they said the process takes several weeks. I finally got a Voicemail asking to call back and that was on 11/21/18. I called back a couple days later due to the fact they called the day before Thanksgiving and we were busy with family. I was told they would have to call me back because the associate who left me the message was not in. It was basically a week of phone tag due to my busy schedule of work and currently both my husband and I going through infertility treatments.

I finally spoke to an associated last night and she told me notes were added to our file with an update that we were passed the 1 year manufacturer warranty and our “Five Year Premium Leather Plus Plan” doesn’t cover that so we will give you $200 and at first I was like OKAY… I guess that’s fine and then she asked if the credit card was still active and I didn’t want to accept the money right away so I said, “I don’t know I will have to check.” Once I thought it over $200 is nothing compared to the $4,000 dollars we spent in basically fake leather couches. $200 dollars doesn’t even cover the protection plan we paid for that apparently is worthless since it doesn’t cover peeling which is due to something that isn’t our fault.

If I would have known what this so called leather was we would have bought a fabric couch for A LOT cheaper. There is also a sharp structure underneath the corner of the couch that has poked a hole through the leather and you have to put a pillow there so it doesn’t keep poking us in our ribs. I wish I could buy a fabric couch now but I can’t get myself to by new living room furniture knowing we spent $4000 just two years ago. If there is any way you can help me and my husband it would be appreciated more than you know.

The delivery service that you use is horrible. Just throw away the ENTIRE delivery service department. My order was scheduled to be delivered on a Tuesday between 9-1:30 pm. At 1:20 pm I received a call stating that somehow my furniture was damaged by the driver and that I needed to be rescheduled. Which it was rescheduled, for that following Thursday between the hours of 8:30-11:30 am. Again I took off work to receive my furniture.

At 10:30 am I received a call from the driver stating that he was 45 min away. By 11:20 I had not received a phone call or anything so I began to call the driver (whom English was extremely broken so communication with him and trying to understand where he was, was extremely difficult) who stated that he was outside my home which was not true. We later figured out that he was in Chicago 45 min away from my home due to a "glitch" in the system that sent him the wrong address. (Which could not have been true due to the address being correct on all of the confirmation text sent to my phone, even from first delivery attempt.) At this point I'm extremely livid because as I stated before I took off work to receive my furniture for the second time.

I began to contact the store and Ms. ** the manager of the delivery department whom apologized and stated she would refund my delivery fee and ensured that my furniture would be delivered the same day now between the hours of 4-7 pm. Again, I'm waiting. 6:45 pm no phone call from anyone. I call the driver back. I didn't get an answer. I called the store and the office manager was just as perplexed as I was. He went out of his way to try and figure out what was going on even putting a phone call in to the driver himself (which the driver stated he knew nothing about making another delivery attempt that night).

At this time I began to call the 6307838000 number. Spoke with a representative whom had to put me on hold for a while to contact the driver and figure out what was going on. She came back and stated that the driver was 45 minute away from me. Make a long story short I didn't receive my delivery until after 8 pm that night. For a company that has been in business for years and has a reputation for good quality service the level of service I experienced is unacceptable.

I purchased a bedroom and dining set from The Room Place in April. They delivered and assembled the furniture. Because the dining set was so beautiful to me, I avoided eating on it to maintain it for as long as possible. Well the one time I decide to sit at it with a friend, the damn table caved in on both of our thighs when I put my elbows on the table. My friend had to lift it off me and place it on the chair to stop the table from hitting the floor. Screws had popped out and the table top pieces separated and when I notified customer service, they sent some guys over who determined that it was unrepairable then like 2 weeks later I get a call saying the manufacturing warranty won’t cover it because “it’s not a defect in the table”. So no refund and no replacement. As if they have a brand of tables made solely to have defects.

I asked her if she was aware that The Room Place assembled it and not myself and she said, "Yeah but that’s what they said." Then she hang up on me. Basically implying I broke my own $3000 table like a lunatic. I call Guardian and they say they won’t cover it 'cause it wasn’t an accident and that the manufacture warranty should cover it since it hasn’t been a year yet. Welp they think I’m a rogue mechanic who vandalizes her own home so...

Bought furniture in October. At that time the ottoman was not able to be delivered until December 6 (an ottoman - as if it there was only one in the country). When we purchased I was told by the girl ringing up the order to not accept any furniture if it wasn't right. So glad she told me that. Upon delivery the couch portion (of the sectional) was not even the right one. It was not the matching portion. The delivery people were insistent that they leave in the home and switch. When the correct one came in I told them I wasn't accepting. They kept pushing the issue. I actually looked at the guy and said, "I'm paying a lot of money for this furniture - would you accept this if it was you?" He smiled and said no. I wrote wrong order on the receipt. Customer service was talking to the delivery people and I made him put it on speaker as to when the correct delivery would come.

We then went back to the store at the end of October and upgraded the ottoman to the larger cocktail style. The delivery was for November 13 for the correct sofa and the new ottoman. I called a few days later to ask about delivery and she told me that I was actually scheduled for November 14 - the 13th was the arrival date for the furniture. So glad I called to confirm and that I hadn't taken off of work on the 13th. So...waited for the 12-3pm timeframe for delivery 11/14/18. At 3:30p.m. I called and was told they were on their way. They arrived at 4 pm. No apologies. The ottoman of course was the incorrect one. The tag was for the larger one, but the item was the smaller one. I did not accept.

I immediately called customer service and was told the new one would come 11/15/18. I hung up and called the store directly and asked for the manager for some compensation of $107 for the difference b/w the ottomans and the aggravation of having a third delivery. Was on hold 35 mins and told "all the managers were busy". No one ever came to the phone. I left my number. This was at 4:30 p.m. I called back at 8:30 p.m. Asked for the manager's name (Luis) and was told he was still busy.

DO NOT shop here. I called customer service and was told the earliest they could schedule delivery on November 20th. Ridiculous. This store does nothing to help the customer once the sale occurs. I was told at 4:30 p.m that my salesperson Jasmine wasn't in for the day. When I called back at 8:30 p.m. I was told she just left. When asked for Luis' last name the woman told me she didn't know it. Sure.

It also made a cracking noise. They sent a technician almost 2 weeks later to check it out. He opened the sofa and checked it out and sure enough one of the wood beams was hitting against a spring, causing it to make a cracking noise every time you sit down. So he fixed the spring. My wife and I had a severely disappointed experience with The Room Place in Lombard. The first visit, we were assisted by the sale manager and a lady for sale department who convince us with the large purchase order of nearly $14,000 and also convinced us to purchase the 5-year warranty. They promised us that we will have a 60 month payment plan without interest on the Room Place credit card they convinced us also to apply.

Few days after and before the delivery, my wife and I purchased new order for approximately $5,000 with a different account (my wife account), the promotion for this new account was 2 years payment plan without interest. Upon delivery of these order, we realized that some furniture were missing and after a long request they promised to give us back credit for those missing furniture. Later on after we had broken chairs, we called and they never replaced or fixed.

My wife and I were paying regularly our credit card and never have late payment. When we finished to pay for my wife credit during the 2 year scheduled, the Comenity Bank increase my balance from $3,800 to $7,800 with almost $4,000 extra, pretending that the plan was 2 years instead of 60 months. The worst part is the game and the way Both The Room Place and the Bank are playing to rob the customer who we are. Because the manager from the Room Place recognized that there was a confusion and miscommunication and they promised to fix it. But never did it for real until today.

After many complaints, they made me spent again $2,000 for nothing and my balance is keep going up every month. Nobody care about our feeling and all their preoccupation is to collect money illegally from us. They are trying to mess-up my credit record because of this matter. I don't want to be in this situation anymore. I have never dealt with such a lack of appreciation for retaining happy, existing customers. It is a shame how this popular location continues to not honor their promotion plan and their warranty and will let customers walk away unhappy after spending thousands of hard-earned dollars on what is meant to be lifelong furniture.

Now they refused to refund my money because it’s been more than 5 years and I did not mail in the post card. Even if I would have done this I wouldn’t have gotten my money back. Only store credit. Told the room place about it. They said take pics of it. I sent them pics. Getting nowhere. The day the people they have deliver the furniture I heard something hit our wall. The guy knocked a drill of a shelf and it put a hole in our wall. I seen it and asked him about it. He said it fell off. Bad thing he wasn't even going to say anything.

I told the room place what happened they didn't seem like it was nothing. Then today the back of the couch broke. I called them and the first thing they told me they won't cover the scratch on table. I would have to turn it into insurance. She told me don't tell them it was done during delivery. I told her so I have to lie. What a bad place. I told her if something don't get done I will contact a lawyer and I will. The leather couch is made out of cheap pine 1x4 boards. Not happy at all.

Unbelievably ridiculous. I TRULY feel like I have been scammed out of my money by this high-end store. I bought a bed and sofa set from The Room Place in 2016. One year and a half later the bed breaks and it's nothing they can do about it and Guardian (the warranty) doesn't cover it. My leather sofa peels a year later and Guardian brings the wrong piece, and never tried to contact or call to bring the right piece. I've contacted them on numerous occasions. All I've received are long holds and broken promises to call back.

The manager for their (The Room Place) customer service department acts as though she was glad to say there's nothing she can do, and I would have to pay out of my own pockets to get my bed fixed. Not to mention it's still a piece to my bed that they never came back to place. I'm now going to BBB because I refuse to keep paying my hard earn $$$ to a place that doesn't care about the customer but just about making a penny. TO WHOEVER GETS TO READ THIS RUN!!!! So we changed a piece to a loveseat and of course couldn't be delivered until the 26th of Dec. And then I have a hole in the couch. Manufacture issue. The delivery doesn't happen for the loveseat for the 26th. That would be the 16th of January. They bring out another couch and that is broke.

They deliver on the 16th and the loveseat has issues and so does the couch. We wanted everything picked up. We went in store, cancels contract. Told them me wanted all picked up asap. Why is it 2 weeks later and they just call and tell me they will come and pick up and they were waiting for me to call. Wrong. I did my part now. It's on you to get stuff. Now I have to rearrange my schedule for them again. And corporate can't tell me why they didn't schedule it. I will never go there again.

I have no issues telling you like it is. This place is driven by a carefully crafted scam. The warranties are a worthless joke. Made the claim on a failed mattress protector that ruined the mattress, only to find out that my "mattress is no longer available after one year". I was giving the option to replace the mattress, only to find out the "replacement" is going to cost us an additional 500 dollars more, plus tax and delivery. We simply walked out and contacted the manager the following day. She assured us that this could be taken care of and we needed to come back in. On our second trip, she offered to take 200 off the mattress. We made the hour trip for nothing. Bottom line: Their warranty product failed. They will not cover the replacement of mattress unless we pay quite a bit more. Sounds a little like bait and switching to me.

However, I was 2 weeks late on my very last payment because my son had been hospitalized. When I opened the bill, I saw that I had been charged over almost $700 in finance charges. I pleaded with a "senior account representative" to allow me to make my last payment of $100 and waive the other charges, but he said again and again that there was nothing he could do. It's so disappointment when companies like this one will not make exceptions under any circumstances. I could have used that $700 towards some of my son's hospital bill and I could have written an excellent review but instead their policies have caused them to lose me as a customer and I will continue to warn everyone against shopping here for as long as the store is open!

This is a review to inform anyone thinking of purchasing furniture from The Room Place to stay clear, they DO NOT stand behind their product or have any desire to help you if there is an issue with your purchase! I purchased a couch, loveseat, leather recliner and the upgraded warranty in April of 2017. Six weeks later as I was rotating the cushions on the couch I discovered tears on both cushions, upon examination, the zipper of both cushions had pulled away from the stitching. Had that been the only thing wrong, I would have stitched it up myself and been a 'happy camper'. But the tears were another story, there were five, 3 on one cushion, 2 on the other. My immediate thought was a defective run of material, I say this because the tears were in the part of the cushion that your knees would be against or that part of the cushion that was up against the back of the couch not the tops or bottom part of the cushions.

So I have this 'warranty' that indicates it covers everything and anything that could happen while in ownership of these couches, WRONG!!! After talking directly to The Room Place customer service people and a manager of some sort and sending them pictures of the tears and zippers, they tell me it’s pet damage and (we have a dog, who does not go on furniture) that's not covered. I say if it’s pet damage, how come the foam underneath from the tear is undamaged, it’s obviously a defective run of material. What about the stitching pulling away, the warranty I'm looking at indicates it covers everything short of ARMAGEDDON!!! These conversations with customer service and the warranty company Guardian happened numerous times. Here's the thing, I just wanted 2 new covers, not a new couch, 2 new cushion covers.

Out of sure desperation, I packed up the cushions and drove all the way to The Room Place and showed them up close what these tears looked like (thinking the pics didn't do it). I said, “I'm here hoping you'll do the right thing.” I talked with a manager who actually agreed, it could have been a bad run of fabric, so he says, “I will personally pay for 2 new cushions ($130.00) and have them sent to you.” I'm grateful someone is finally helping me. He says they'll take at least a month, maybe two before you receive them. “Why that long?” I ask, he says, “Because it’s considered a part and that's just how long parts take to be delivered.” Fine, at least I'm getting new covers. Well exactly one month later I get a call indicating they will not be delivered on August 18th but on September 23rd. Okay, it’s now September 24th and I have no cushions!

I call and ask why they weren't delivered and I'm told, “No one was there to sign for it.” “Why didn't they leave them,” “That's not our policy. Someone needs to sign for it,” a policy they neglected to mention, but they did mention that, “there is only one cushion, not two, the other cushion hasn't arrived at our warehouse yet.” Can you see my aggravation at this point, this has been happening since June 3rd, I just want two new cushion covers, that's all. I was told that they would call me for a new delivery date on the ONE cover being redelivered and at that time they would have a better idea on the second one.

How can a business stay in business with such horrible customer service. I went online and there were pages of complaints, many having the tearing in the fabric with that same manufacturer. I spent $2000.00 and would like to just get my covers and NEVER have to deal with The Room Place again. What can you do for me, if anything at this point?

So frustrating because Roomplace was recommended to us by my sister who got their family living room and dining sets in 2012 and they’re in better shape than ours. Now we can't even sit on this sofa without getting peels all over our body, we got a chair cover on it recently and we're thinking about replacement but we can't afford that much right now, that was what prompted me to report the issue to customer service.

We used to have confidence in Roomplace products but not anymore, she made me understand that there an ongoing investigation about this issue, I was giving this email and was asked to send pictures along. I got a card a couple of years ago and spent the whole card amount of 3500.00. We paid it off and I called last week to cancel the card because we really didn't need any new furniture. I was told it would not cost us anything to keep it so we did. I then decided to go look for a new bed because my current one is hurting mine and my husband’s back. We went in and was approached by Emily and she was and is AMAZING!!! I had questions about the 79.99 delivery fee and the GM kept saying he would come talk to me and he didn't. In fact he ignored me, my husband and Emily. If it would have not been for Emily we would have taken our business somewhere else. So we spent around 2,000 dollars and spent 80.00 on a delivery fee thinking the movers would help me move the frame, headboard and footboard. I cleaned a way to get the bed thru the house and moved the box spring and mattress out before they got here.

I was then informed they do not get paid to move out my furniture, then proceeded to tell me if I bought a dining room table they would not disassemble the dining room table. Very unprofessional and I was in shock how much money I spent on a bed, headboard, leather bench and a ceiling hanging light. I had to move some stuff and they finally got the bed assembled. They were in such a huge hurry they had me sign some paper that they were there delivering and then took off. I then went into the bedroom and the bed is so low to the ground I can’t use the bed skirt I just bought. So I called Emily and she said she would get me a higher foundation and since I did not refuse the foundation I would not be charged a restock fee or a second delivery fee. However if I would have had a chance I would have refused the foundation. I am very dissatisfied with his service.

My husband has a truck and we could have pick it up ourselves and had better service and saved 80.00, now we have to wait till Tuesday to get a different foundation and miss work to make this happen. I wish someone would contact me about this. I have spent a lot of money and would continue to do so but, I'm afraid I will not use or recommend The Room Place unless something is done about this incident. Emily at this store was amazing and I want to make sure she is awarded for her excellent customer service.

Well to my disappointment my husband took off a half day at his job and lost a day of pay and then when the furniture arrived the headboard had no legs so we had to refuse again and was told it could be delivered next Tuesday. Well my husband said no. He could not take ANOTHER day off so they told him the headboard could be delivered with the hanging light on September the 23rd which I will be here for that, I was then told by the store on East Washington Street that the GM has issue a 50 credit to my balance and for the inconvenience I need to call the corporate office and they will assist me in making this right. Well that made things worse. I then was offered a 25$ gift card which I do not want that's why the GM at the store gave me the 50 gift card as a credit on my account. Then the lady on the phone from corporate said that my head is on back order until November???

When the headboard was in my house on 9/12/2017 and today this is 9/14/2017 but, yet it's on back order until November. I am highly angry, upset and disappointed. I want my furniture here. When promised a phone call back like promised and the 75$ I keep hearing I am getting as a credit to my account. I'm doing this review and calling corporate like my salesperson AND sales manager at the East Washington store had instructed me to do and it only got me put on hold, told false information and then I was blind transferred to the store, VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. Still waiting to hear something from somebody!

These "installers" assembled it at a 25-30 degree angle, where the left side of the bed was sticking out. The plywood plank on the frame were angled and screwed down as well, so that is why it was pushing out. It took me about 1 hours to disassemble it and put back together properly and with a level.

I Only got one page and nowhere in that page I could find anything about specific exclusions. The no use no lose he claimed that will refund my money if I don't claim the protection, it's a LIE too. I found out it is not your money back, it is a store credit that is valid for purchases of over 499 only and is valid only for one year which obviously they didn't tell me any of these.

After looking at 4-5 other places, we decided to purchase from them. The delivery was on time and on the day they said they'd be there... However, after 3 months of the purchase, the slip covers kept tearing at the seams. I called customer service (which is horrible - you will be on hold for a longer period of time than you are actually speaking with someone) explained the situation and ended up getting replacement slip covers. It took them 3 months to arrive at my home. I have gone through this in total of 3 times since we've purchased the set from them. I have spoke with numerous representatives, managers, general managers, supervisors, and have gotten the same exact answer each time. The cushions keep tearing in the exact same spot.

The last time I called and complained, I told them I wanted to A. Switch out the set or B. Pick out a different set of cushions. I was told by a supervisor that since the originals are able to be fixed/repaired (as it says in the manufacturer's warranty) that this is what they will be doing AGAIN. Now call me stupid but if this same issue keeps occurring that is NOT fixing or repairing the problem. Now that it will soon be a year after the purchase, it will not be covered under the manufacturer's warranty and even though we purchased the best of the 3 warranties provided by them, it will not be cover by that either. With that being said after spending thousands of $$$ at this place, we will have to spend more money out our pockets to fix this furniture set ourselves. If you are looking for an overall great experience when purchasing any type of furniture for your home, save yourself the stress and DO NOT go to the Room Place.

If I could give them a ZERO I WOULD. I bought this bed in April of 2016, with a five year warranty. First there was a warehouse fire, which they can't control so I don't fault them for that, but it took two months for me to get my bed. Then once I got my bed they sent it on two different trucks, but didn't tell me they would be sending two trucks HOURS APART!! I waited at my house for the allotted time (they were late) then while they set the whole thing up (45 mins) and then went on with my life and then received a call hours later to tell me they were here with the last piece... guess who wasn't there? ME. Then I had to wait two more weeks for the last part.

Whatever, at least I have my bed, and it looked beautiful. Until I tried to use it for one of the many purposes you use a bed for. It was shaking uncontrollably. At around four months the bed got so shaky that we can't roll over without worrying the bed will break. When I called them about my problem (I bought the five year warranty) they told me since nothing was broken I just needed to fix it myself... I bought a warranty for this exact reason, I don't know how to fix these things. On top of this, the customer service was RUDE. I wouldn't recommend The Room Place to my worst enemy. The quality of their work is crap. A thousand dollar bed should last more than four months. It's ridiculous.

If I could give a 0 I would. There is no reason for why in less than 3 months of purchasing a table and chairs at $1,300.00 the leather should be peeling and legs breaking. I purchased a tall table at Hobo for $300.00 and after 9 years it is still holding up very well. Why is my sister and brother in law having such a hard time with the Room Place! It's been a couple months of going back and forth, the Room place is saying that it is not a manufacture defect and the insurance said that this is a manufacture defect.

On Saturday 2/18/17 I went with my sister to the location and spoke with Manager John about what is going on and per John the last email conversation stated that The pictures were distorted and my brother in law will have to provide more clear pictures. At this point, I think I am going to take all the chairs into the location and act a fool and show what other customers are inside just how cheap the leather is for the amount that Room place is robbing off of customers. Stephanie ** is the supposed Head Honcho and today the information was given that there is nothing more the Room Place can do.

Mind you, we purchased the furniture after that damn fire due to an upset employee. We had to wait for the furniture. I think we got the furniture that was in that fire but not completely damaged. They did what they could to salvage it by reupholstering it and selling it at full cost. This place is a joke and such a rip off! You have pictures and you have the order # so do your due diligence and replace the damaged furniture that clearly had an issue shortly after purchase, that's what you can do!

Do not shop at this location or any Room Place location. Twice now I have bought items that they refused to fix even though they were still covered under warranty. Their products don't last and they won't fix it. A few months ago I bought two recliners from The Room Place. It took almost two months to get them delivered. Shortly after delivery they started falling about. I called The Room Place and then informed me the recliners were still under the manufacturer warranty. Their finding was to much damage for them to repair the recliners. Why give the buyer a warranty if you are not going to fix your product.

This is the second time we have had a problem with the warranty from this location. Last time we bought the extended warranty and when our ottomans (that came with a broken zipper which we were unaware of) started leaking beads. We were told because the zipper is broken the warranty wouldn't cover it. It came with a broken zipper. GO somewhere else. Not worth the money or aggravation.

Received a damaged mattress/box-spring. Emailed store manager pictures and called immediately. Was told "they must have dragged the mattress on the ground. I assure you it wasn't used". I was not saying it was used however I DO think it was manhandled and tossed around a lot to get damaged as seen in the pics. (I would hate to think it was used, and since I saw inside the truck). Was told to call customer service. Customer service did not return call after speaking to a not helpful CSR. Found out that the mattress protector of $70 plus that I was told by the manager I HAD to buy to have a warranty was not required.

Also, when they were delivering the mattress be aware they do not wrap the disposed mattresses. In the truck a large stained mattress of a reddish orange spot was visibly seen... with no cover or plastic. This means your new mattress will be in the truck with these. How do they ensure that you do not encounter bugs?

Still trying to get a real resolution. The manager said they could switch out mattress but have to get in the 4 hour window of time and schedule. Plus, I was told the mattress went back up in price so we can't give you a discount, just a refund on shipping. I just want a price adjustment. Cannot get a response. I do not want to switch due to health concerns of how they handle used mattress and I don't have time to jump on this. See attached pics. Can you believe this was new? It was in plastic like this. Due to sanitary concerns, being told I needed to purchase a cover to have a warranty, when customer service said I did not, not receiving a call back from the customer service manager, I do not recommend this company. Damaged merchandise; Being told you need to buy an item to get a warranty. Customer service said that was not true; Management does not return your call from corporate office after speaking with a rep. I wish I would have taken a pic of what I saw in the truck.

(Unfortunately they give you the packet AFTER YOU MAKE YOUR PURCHASE.) The salesperson told us that the purchase of the warranty covers you on everything for 5 years. That is not true.

If you get a puncture in the couch IT IS ONLY COVERED 1 TIME ONLY. And when you are told "If you do not use the warranty, it will all be returned to you" is also not correct. It only comes back to you in a store credit ONLY IF YOU SPEND MORE THAN 499.99, and can only be done for a CERTAIN AMOUNT OF TIME, not what the salesperson said at the point of sale. Playing hell getting our money back but expected that. They want you to pay for the items right then but weeks later still not given your money back. Don't even get me started on Customer Service. In April 2015 we purchased two bedroom sets. In July 2015 one of the bedroom sets broke so we called the salesman at the room place and it was replaced. Well, in December 2016 the headboard broke when my son sat on the bed. And although we purchased the accidental insurance, they didn't cover it because it wasn't an accident and "it appeared to be a manufacturer's issue." After multiple phone calls I was told "It's no longer under warranty and there's nothing we can do." They are not willing to resolve any issues or complaints. They lack customer service and truly don't care about their reputation as a company because if they DID, they would step up and resolve legitimate complaints against them. I've been shopping with them since they were Harlem Furniture and always had a positive experience and that is why I'M so shocked they don't give a hoot now.

My entire account has been paid in full over $1800.00 and the soft set is horrible. Not only is the seam in the process of being replaced terribly busted but seams in other areas are doing the same thing. Back in July 2016 I placed a call and was told the replaced cushion would be delivered in November. I waited patiently and now I was told it's on back order for 6-8 weeks. That leaves me with a torn sofa for the Christmas Holiday. What a embarrassment when company comes over. I just paid all that money and can't afford to pay or substitute another sofa.

Great in store experience, which, in hindsight, I now recognize was the beginning of a giant scam. We bought a very nice reclining sofa and love seat and they threw in an extended warranty. After having the furniture for a little over a year the reclining mechanism broke. Our paperwork shows the reclining mechanism is covered for three years. The Room Place people claim that nothing in their store is covered for more than 1 year, and there is no convincing them otherwise. We pointed them to their website and showed them our paperwork and still they refused to cover the repair. Eventually, the company that provides the extended warranty - Guardian - stepped up and said they would cover it. They said The Room Place does this to them all the time.

So after 2 months of just trying to get the repair covered, the ball was in The Room Place's court to order the replacement part (on Guardian's dime). We have now been waiting 4 months for the part to show up after being told it would be 4 weeks. We have called and called and e-mailed and e-mailed and each time it's like the first time we have contacted them. There's no record of our problem or the part. Finally we called corporate and they said that we had received the part. Really? Then they figured out that it had been shipped from Hong Kong but would not arrive until mid-December. So we will be seven months waiting for a $5 replacement part. Here's hoping it's the right part.

Every person we have interacted with at The Room Place (since we handed over our money) has been uninformed and unconcerned - at best. Mostly they have been disrespectful and even insulting. We have spent so much time and energy trying to get this minor repair completed and they have put forth zero effort, even obstructing our efforts at times. The worst after the sale service I have ever experienced. To add insult to injury, they offered us a "we are sorry" gift. It was the same set of bar glasses with warped bottoms that they gave us when we originally bought the furniture. What a joke.

I have been a loyal Room Place customer since we bought our house in 2011. Through the years we have bought 2 dining sets, 2 full kid bedroom sets, and an entertainment center. In the middle of June we purchase a new sofa and loveseat set for the family room. We were quote for a delivery in middle of July (I can't remember the exact date). They call and push back the delivery to August 23. I called the local Castleton store and asked why it is delayed. The girl told me that the set I bought was very popular and they didn't have enough on hand. I told her if I didn't get the delivery on August 23 that I will go in and cancel the sale. She guaranteed me that it will be delivered on that date.

Fast forward to August 21. I get a text from their corporate office stating that my set will be delayed until September 12. I called the Room Place in Castleton and talk with one of their manager. The lady told that the corporate office delayed the delivery and it has nothing to do with the Castleton location. At this time, my blood pressure was about to explode. How can any manager just dump the blame on their corporate office? Any customer service person should know that a consumer don't care whose fault it is. I don't care if it is the manufacturer's fault, corporate's fault, the dispatcher's fault, or the delivery guy's fault. All I know is that I bought it from the Room Place. A manager that speaks like that should not be a manager. Their purpose is to find out about the issue, how to best handle the issue, and to diffuse the situation.

I called the corporate office the next day and told them the story. I told them I am very frustrated about the whole transaction. I also put in an official complain (I doubt she even wrote it down or turned it in). She told me the best she can do is have it delivered by 8/31. I told her if I don't get my furniture on the date I am canceling the transaction. On 8/31 I took the day off to receive my furniture. I was quoted between 4 pm-7 pm. At 4:30 pm the dispatcher calls and let me know that the delivery guys are 30 minutes behind schedule. I said, "fine" and figure I would get a call around 7 pm. At 7:30 pm I didn't receive any word or updates on my delivery, so I called the dispatcher and she didn't pick up. At that time I decided to call corporate office and they told me they would contact the dispatcher.

15 minutes later the dispatcher called and told me that they have a new driver and that they were behind and guarantee me that they would deliver the furniture. I get a call at 10:30 pm from the delivery driver stating they are on their way. I told him that he was crazy. I get up at 5:30 am to go to work and not waiting for them to get to my house and deliver the furniture. What kind of company puts that much inconvenience on their customers? Who in their right mind would accept furniture at 11 pm? I have never dealt with a company that lacks that much communication within their organization. You would think that if I put in an official complain that they would mark it and communicate that to the dispatcher and delivery guys. I guess not.

I called their corporate office the next day and spoke to another lady. I told her I wanted to put in another complaint and told her the whole story. She told sorry and she can offer to take off the delivery fee. I asked her to give me a reason to why I should stay a loyal customer. She didn't have an answer, but stated that they are working to improve their customer service. She offered to have her manager call me. I said, "fine". I work until 4 pm and can take calls after that time. Guess what, no one called. It's unfortunate that a company stops listening or caring about their consumers and loyal customers. The next time someone ask me about The Room Place, I would tell them to check the Google reviews for The Room Place at Castleton, which is 1.7 stars. Voices will be heard and I can guarantee that I will go onto every site I can to tell my story.

I am writing this review since I am very shocked at the amount of bad reviews this place has received - I think some people are overly critical and will jump at the first opportunity to point out a flaw in someone/something. I first purchased a bedroom set from the Roomplace on Elston Ave in Chicago back in mid-2013. It was delivered by the contract company and setup by them with the exception of the mirror for the dresser, for which the mounting brackets were not included (a lot of people would have complained about this - not a big deal to me).

I contacted the Roomplace and they mailed me the correct pieces, which were easy enough to install myself with a simple drill - no big deal. I've had the furniture for 3 years, which includes the bed frame, nightstand, and a dresser which are still in tip top shape. They've been moved several times, and have withstood it quite well. YES, this isn't the highest quality furniture, but you get what you pay for, it is AFFORDABLE. The nightstands and dressers have a glass top, which I really like.

FAST FORWARD 3 years, I need additional clothing storage now. I went back to the same Roomplace in early August 2016 to purchase the chest and one more nightstand, and the salesman Humberto was very helpful and very kind. They set us up delivery for a few weeks away (per my request) and everything went smooth. A few days before the delivery, I was taking apart my bedframe to rearrange the bedroom to fit the new pieces, and the headboard fell and snapped the side rail (cheap MDF), but the headboard is heavy so there was a lot of momentum coming down. This was completely my fault, but here comes the crappy part.

I called customer service, and told them I had already placed an order that was scheduled to be delivered in 4 days, and asked them if they had these rails in stock and sold them separately (vs. buying a whole new $300 bedframe). They said they did but I would have to contact the store about buying them. Well, I call the store, and they tell me I can get them online (which I looked online for and didn't see them separately), so they tell me I either have to come into the store or contact customer service (oi). I call back customer service and the lady on the phone says she'd need her supervisor's permission to see if she could charge it over the phone ($58 for the pair of new rails, not bad at all). I give her my phone number to call me back.

Hours later, never receive a phone call, so I just ride my bike 4 miles to get to the store as I didn't have access to an auto at the time. I see Humberto, who just helped us weeks prior, and he gets everything squared away for me. The only caveat here is that delivery had to be pushed 2 days since the rails wouldn't be ready until 8/25 (delivery of the chest/nightstand was originally scheduled for 8/23), so we just shifted delivery of everything to 8/25 without a further charge for delivery, which was nice.

The day prior to delivery, I receive a call telling me to expect a 10am - 1pm delivery window. On 8/25, I get another phone call around 12 saying the delivery guys are delayed an hour. Not too bad, but OK. They show up at 1:30, which I was ecstatic about, since I did not expect them until after 2. They said someone had them take back furniture they had just delivered because the customer thought it was too big - not their fault. The delivery guys were very friendly. They assembled everything (they even helped me reassemble the bed frame) and were quite fast and quite polite. Very pleasant experience and they had everything in/out by 2 pm. To summarize, the furniture is average quality (it’s affordable), the customer service has been great, and the salesmen at the showroom have been extremely helpful. I would purchase from them again without hesitation.

July 4th we bought a sectional and a dresser from the Castleton Room Place IN. We were told they did not have all the pieces in and we were given two options. First option was to have what they had delivered and the rest at a later date when it came in stock. The second option was to wait 2 weeks and have every thing delivered all at one time. We decided to wait and have every thing delivered at one time. Delivery was scheduled for July 16th. I was advised that we would get a phone call 30 min prior to the delivery. We never received a phone call and they only had half of the sectional. The delivery guy told my husband that we should of received a call advising us that we would not be receiving our complete order. I called the Castleton store and was told they will send a email and I will get a phone call in a while to explain what went wrong. I never received a call so when I got off work I went to store.

When got to the store, I was ignored, and they could care less that half my order was missing and did not even attempted to find out where it was or why. The only thing anyone could tell me is that they sent a email and had not heard back yet. But they did offer to have my missing order delivered on July 22nd or 23rd even though they did not know where it was. I told them that that is completely unacceptable. 3 weeks waiting on delivery is ridiculous, when I was promised it back in two weeks! It would be one thing if they respected my time and my hard earned money. But clearly they did not with the way I was being treated. Yet all they could tell me is "we sent another email and when we hear back we will call you".

That was Saturday, Sunday I called again to hear the same thing. On Monday I still had not heard a thing. That's when I called the Castleton store to be told they still didn't know anything. I called the corporate office to be on hold 1 hr to have that customer service rep to get nasty with me when I demanded a refund. She told me that I signed for half of the order and I have to pay for it even though my order was not completed. She just ended transferred me to the Castleton store so I can talk to a manager again. When I asked to speak with a manager I was told they all went home for the day, at 3 pm on a Monday. The customer service representative assured me that I would get a phone call back the next day. Well Tuesday came and went with still no call. That's when I reached out on The Room Place's facebook for help. That did not get me anywhere.

After reading all the other experience and people waiting absurd amounts of time to get their refunds I am afraid that I am now stuck with half a couch. Who knows if I will ever receive the rest of my couch or money back. I've spent a great amount of time on the phone trying to figure out when I will get the rest of my order. I have been told I should receive everything tomorrow and will have my delivery fee refunded. $135.00 is what my time, trouble and amount of stress this has caused my family is worth to The Room Place. The disrespect, the intentionally being ignored, the excessive waste of my time.

I phoned back and said, please to just cancel the order because they finally admitted they cannot tell me for sure when it will be out for delivery some sort of vendor issue. They were understanding about the cancellation. They told me 3-5 business days. I cancelled the order 6/27 or it was 6/28. It is 7/6 I still have not seen my refund!

I just now called the Bloomingdale, IL store and the office girl said the request for my cancel and to refund my money is still sitting there!! No one did anything, no one forwarded to their accounting department. I worked with Salesman John **. I truly liked the sectional, and am having a difficult time finding another I like equally well. I was going to go back in, bite the bullet and just repurchase it IF they could just level with me on the delivery time. NO WAY am I now. I have been sitting here waiting for my refund so I can go back in to repurchase it and they haven't even forwarded my cancellation on to accounting! I am so livid. That's over $1400. I am out!!!

I purchased a bedroom set at the end of Dec. 2014. I have had nothing but problems since it was delivered. I am glad I have the warranty with Guardian they are a good company. The warranty only covers the wood. I am stuck with a chest that has 3 drawers where the bottom is falling out. I called The Room Place and they suggested a company that could repair it. I would have to pay out of pocket. I don't have money for repairs. I am on disability. This will be my last purchase from The Room Place. All that money gone down the drain. The rep I talked to said there was nothing they could do. No concern whatsoever.

I called The Room Place and the representative on the phone told me he would check and call me back which he never did. They ended up bringing my mattress back. I called back and they told me that they had a problem with the manufacturer and I was not going to get my mattress until 8 July. I am beyond frustrated with The Room Place. I purchased a mattress and boxspring set to be delivered. The original delivery date was 6/14. They showed up to the house with a mattress and no boxspring set. I was upset but I called the customer service department only to be told they were on backorder and would be in on 6/17 and delivered on the next day Saturday the 18th. Saturday I got a call say the delivery would be late only to get a call back later to tell me that they didn't have the paperwork for the delivery so they couldn't bring the boxsprings. I spoke to a customer service rep who said I was an add on and the paperwork didn't get printed so they couldn't deliver the set. The rep said she would try to get the delivery out and call me back. No call Saturday, no call Sunday.

I call the store on Monday only to get a person in the office name Andrea who said they had a delivery date as 6/20, which was Monday. No one told me this but it didn't matter because they didn't try to deliver the set anyway. She told me that she would send a message to customer service to see what can be done and she would call me back. No callback Monday. I called Tuesday, talked to Andrea she said she sent an email and didn't get a response and she could forward it to her supervisor. Call the customer service to see if they received anything...

Got the runaround, transferred 3 times only for this lady at corporate to tell me that they were suppose to be delivered on 6/18 and asked me if they didn't get delivered. This sent me into an outrage. The lady then tells me that she can set me up for delivery on Saturday 25th, she can't tell me what time they will call me the day before which is the same story I got the week before. Asked Stephanie what her supervisor name and she tell me Stephanie which I think is a total lie and since I really could understand her I couldn't catch her name. I will never purchase another item from The Room Place, when my credit card balance is paid off the card will be burned.

I Leslie purchase a red leather sectional couch from The Room Place last year in mid February. Very beginning of March I fell in love with it. I had to have it so I went to The Room Place to check it out. It sat right - felt so good. I purchased it. Had it delivered the first day. They delivered it to my home. They scratched the back of the leather. I called and told them and they told me if I didn't have a warranty it wasn't nothing they could do for me at the moment. I was pissed. I said ok.

After calling for five days in a row and getting nowhere I gave up and left it alone then maybe like 8 to 9 months goes pass I noticed little peelings here and there and I start noticing the leather was cracking on the seat parts. I was furious. As I'm watching the news the other day I see the complaints was being discussed and people were telling their stories. I was like I was just saying the same thing. I thought it was just me thinking they sold me something bogus but it was clear it wasn't just me.

I want my money back or some new furniture. I'm not asking for much but I work hard for something I wanted and the Room Place took advantage of me as well as others and they need to be stopped and put out of business if that's how they are going to do business. I'm so pissed. I've turned my couches around backwards cause I don't want nobody sitting on them making it worse. Not to mention how loose the back part of my couches are - if they are not sitting up against the wall the wood frame would break. I'm so pissed. I'm ready to get rid of them but I can't afford to buy new furniture a year later smh - that's what you call highway robbery for real. They make it look good but it's all a fraud. Just sad - I need help!!!

They asked if we had pictures, which we did. We waited while they submitted the problem report and were told we would hear from someone within a few days. When we didn't hear anything after a few weeks we called and were told they would check on it again and were assured once again that we would hear from someone. We purchased the heaviest bedroom set possible (-1), that had to go up a multi-directional stair case, and a breakfast nook table and chairs. I talked with the delivery schedule person, scheduled a delivery day, within two business days of my call, and their guys called ahead to let us know they would be at the house within the hour. THIRD TIME SUBMITTED - YOU HAVE YET TO RESPOND! All of this since your last service visit and ridiculous customer service response by phone that followed. I want a call from management! I have had your repair service out here on two occasions. They have fixed and re-stretched loose covers, "popping" cardboard in the side arms of the couch, re-pulled material on the sides of the loveseat to get them to resemble each other instead of one seam being well above the cushion. I had a new cushion sent because the one that came with had all of the thread falling out in back, and the cushion that showed up to replace it is a different color tone. It also helps to demonstrate just how much the other cushion next to it has collapsed, as it is now loose clothed and not springing back. The serviceman has now ordered two more cushions to replace them both, with the same color.

Even more frustrating than this is the fact that the left side of the couch and its springs are now starting to lean into the arm - it is a pronounced lean into the arm. In the serviceman's words "This is natural wear that they will not warranty, and I know that doesn't make you feel any better with the couch only being 6 months old." Doesn't make me feel any better? It infuriates me! I spent good money on this couch. If you are telling me this couch is not warranted to keep me from leaning at a 45 degree angle when I sit on it at the 6 month life of its lifespan, then you are selling poor designed and constructed furniture, and I want it removed from my home. IF you are not going to stand behind your furniture, I will pursue getting my money back.

I am simply asking for you people to replace this couch at this point, but if need be, I will look to have the whole set removed from my house. The chair squeaks like an old Chevy when you sit back in it. I am told, "mechanically the chair is ok, nothing you can do about that" - again, wonderful support, but hell I'll live with that. They will not actually back what they sell. Buy anywhere but here!

AVOID THE ROOM PLACE. We purchased thousands of $$ of furniture from the Room Place in Merrillville, IN. The problems started right from the date of delivery. We had to return an end table, an ottoman, 5 dining room chairs, and we have had the dining room table replaced 5 times. On one occasion, we received a replacement table and the leaves did not fit. I called the Room Place and they scheduled a replacement for a week later. The delivery driver arrives a week later, walks into my house, inspects the table and says, "Yep the leaves don't fit". I asked if he has the replacement leaves and he said I had to call customer service to order them. I asked him why he came to my house and he said to inspect the leaves yet he didn't bring replacements.

Additionally, we still have not received the pillows we ordered for the couch; going on 8 weeks since the order. We have talked to the Room Place representatives including managers and general managers on numerous occasions. At least 3 times a rep said he/she would investigate the issues and return my call. I have yet to receive a return call from any of them. I have always had to call them and each time they do not recall the issues. I strongly suggest against purchasing from the Room Place. My experience was poor and my opinion is that the Room Place has no interest in customer service beyond making the sale.

First of all when they came to deliver it one of the guys made a 6 inch cut on the loveseat so I had to call customer service to have it replace. Not only that in the contract it says that we have 7 days to exchange or return an item so I went back to the store and asked to change the wedge for a single sofa. I spoke to the manager to ask if they can deliver it at the same time that they would be delivering the new loveseat that they had to replace. Well he said no he made me pay again delivery.

Also the financial company they work with called me screaming and telling me I had provided the wrong address. I told them to call Harlem and they told me they had nothing to do with it that they had gotten paid and that it was my responsibility to give them my correct address. Not only that the person I talk to said I was a horrible customer to talk to. Very disappointed now am sure not to ever buy at Harlem again.

I finally had my sofa replaced but it took several calls, an inspector to come out and then the wait. I had to call a week after the inspector to ask where's my sofa almost three weeks. There was a two by four board that just didn't hold so let's hope this one holds up. Good luck everyone I learned my lesson to shop around before purchase.

    Original Review: Dec. 1, 2015

I know I had choices but, now I really know to read the blogs before purchase next time. On Nov 1, 2015 1st time ever in the store in Arlington Heights store I seen a great deal and spent over $2800.00. My rug was on back order, no problem. Received the delivery 11/11, had to call back/go into the store, let them know the chair of the 3 piece living room set was ripping at the seam. No problem, had to wait another week on their delivery times, second time to take a day off work. (on their schedule only) I was so excited to finally have friends over this Thanksgiving to show my set off and three of us were sitting on the sofa and it cracked in the middle and went down. We turned it over and the board didn't break through the bottom frame or when lifting the cushion, nothing can be seen. I was so embarrassed.

I called today 11/30, spoke with my salesman, told me to come in. I told him I will have to leave work early, no paper work. Said to come anyway. I got there, he left early. I ask for the store manager, a man introduced himself, I explained ALL to him, he tells me the store mgr is off until Wed but I could have an inspector come out to let me know if it could repair on site or needs replacing. I was furious. I ask for corporate and was giving the store # in the next town (Woodridge) to see if they could do anything different for me. I called and the one who answered the phone swears she was a manager and all she could do was to set up a date at the end of the week for the inspector to call the day before to come out. (a week later I have to wait) I ask about credit or reduction in bill and was told they don't do this. And I would have to wait on the inspector and then wait an additional 48 hours to find out anything and if I could produce any pictures.

I told them it looks new, doesn't show anything. Now I will have to wait for another week or so to get this redelivered. All this and my first payment hasn't been made yet. I guess I need to tell my friends and family to look elsewhere when ready to buy furniture. Such a runaround. Another thing when you walk into the store, there's always a salesperson charging at you even if you're going to the office. That turns me off. Hopefully this will get replaced and holds up for years. I'll keep you posted.

We ended up having 4 scheduled deliveries with The Room Place. Our bedroom set wasn't available for our initial delivery, so it was scheduled a week later, no big deal. On the first delivery, the couch was broken, there were indents in the arms, like something heavy had been placed on top of it in the warehouse. The 2nd delivery came with a new couch and the bedroom set. The new couch had a tear in the back cushion and there were multiple scrapes, scuffs, and chipped paint on multiple pieces of the bedroom set. Along with that, one of the delivery drivers dropped one of our nightstands, scuffed it pretty bad, and the top was partially disconnected from the base of it. They said not to worry and the room place would replace it all. I then had to schedule a third delivery to replace all the items.

The third delivery was scheduled for 3-6 PM. 6 o’clock came along and we had not heard from the drivers. We called the room place and they said they would be there in about 45 minutes. At 8:15 PM we got a call from the drivers. At this point, over two hours late, we had already missed our dinner plans and were on our way to dinner, so we turned down the delivery. The driver claimed the delay was because at a previous stop they had to set up and take away a lot of the items because they were broken. We finally set up a fourth delivery, the drivers here were much better, careful, on time for the most part, and actually had our items wrapped up in saran wrap and blankets.

After going through 3 sofas and almost two full bedroom sets I had had numerous phone conversations with my salesman Nick and with customer service. Nick was great, very accommodating, and always trying to make things right. He said the store couldn’t do anything because this was technically the delivery company’s fault. I spoke with customer service and they said they could offer me $100 gift card. I spoke with Nick about this and he thought that was very generous. He said that in the past sometimes they would only offer people $20. I thought this was ridiculous considering the trouble we had to go through. Not to mention, why would I want $100 from a store I never plan on shopping at again?

I would give this place negative stars if possible. I bought furniture here two years ago and buying the furniture and delivery went off without a hitch. It's the insurance that there is an issue. When I made this purchase, I understood that if I didn't use my insurance that I would get my money back. He did a good job selling me on the insurance saying that if my kids scratched the table or put holes in the chairs that it would be covered. Come to find out, it's not money back, it's a credit towards a purchase of more than $400. It's not the money that's the issue, it's the fact that the Sales Manager Dominic did not mention this small detail.

I went into the store to have this figured out and he called me four days later. During that conversation, he basically said that when it comes to his job he is perfect and there is no way he left out this important detail. In two years, I have only bought furniture once and know for a fact that if he had mentioned that I had to spend money to get my money back, which is not getting my money back, that I would definitely not have gotten insurance for my furniture. As a plus, that missing detail is nowhere to be found in the pamphlet I was given. Please stay away and shop elsewhere!

April 17 2014, my husband and I purchased a living room set can't with a chaise, console that has cup holders and plugs in, with loveseat. We purchased an additional chaise and console along with the large ottoman, spent over 2k, we bought the guardian protection for fabric. The manager at the Schaumburg store said "when you notice a problem if there is a stain and you can't get it out doesn't matter what it is how if got there. If it rips doesn't matter how call we will fix it. If the frame breaks anything goes wrong we will fix it. Just call." As most people some days are busier than others things happen. Maybe you're in and out some days whatever the case this is.

15 months we notice the chaise arm is cracked or split lengthwise not sure but it's not as it should be. We never received another number other than guardian to call nothing for the manufacturer or their Warranty. Customer service online once called, one I'm emailing with, says we had one year manufacturer warranty. Ok, why did we get no number or info for them? No answer still. But even if that's so it is only slightly over a year that we noticed and owned this set. There is no reason why it should break internally.

Springs on loveseat one side also like puffed up. Seam in two spots pulled apart their fabric. People say because I am not sure when it happened they won't fix it. Feeling very ripped off. We had furniture from a discount store in CT that lasted through - 2 navy moves and couch lasted 8 years that loveseat which rocks and or reclines is still excellent and had been given to my pregnant niece since we bought this set. Poor customer service and bad quality. Room Place furniture doesn't last.

WOW can you imagine the feeling of being treated so well? NOT!!! So what do I do? Well was told my delivery would be 8/1/15 was not happy about the wait but what's the saying "Good Things Come In Time" not with this situation. Showed up the day before delivery to sign finance papers and go figure Easy Place has no idea who I am nor am I in their system. Not to mention The room Place has changed my delivery date without contacting me. Reminder: I signed a contract on 6/20/15 this is now 7/31/15 and yet not one phone call!

After all the confusion to just going I'm so excited that after more than a month I would be getting my beautiful bedroom set. I am on the day of signing papers told they will not finance me, REALLY? Not to mention I am a caregiver with a terminally ill patient that I had to leave with someone she didn't know to go sign their papers so that I could get my first month without paying a payment and denying myself 200.00 to work to go sign their papers to get my one month free. I am now told I am denied.

Well over a month and not 1 phone call from two Companies to let me know that maybe I may want to go with another selection or talk with me about another delivery date. I am disgusted not to mention disappointed! I am not a loser that doesn't pay my bills. I am someone like many that wants nice things and am willing to pay the extra to get them and work hard as well to afford these things. I have been inconvenienced but maybe for the better. WATCH OUT, THEY JUST WANT YOUR MONEY AND NOT DELIVER WHAT THEY PROMISE!

Final result I feel the furniture is cheaply made and tried to purchase an expanded warranty because it doesn't seem like this furniture is going to last long. I'm puzzled as to how it could even break the way it did. And the headboard was never put on correctly or it appears that I was given the wrong size frame because the bed doesn't evenly fit.

My husband and I had a severely disappointed experience with The Room Place in Lombard. The first visit, we had to wait around 2 hours since the arrogant manager on-site, Mr. **, who was too busy flirting with the skimpy new hires, whose only criteria appeared to be wearing a ** dress, size too small. Finally, when I was on the verge of leaving from the frustration of waiting, my husband was transferred to another representative, Ms. **, who was struggling between multiple customers since the other representatives were just standing around gossiping amongst themselves. Ms. ** assisted us with the large purchase order of nearly $6,000 and convinced us to purchase the 5-year warranty. Upon delivery of this order, we wanted to exchange 2 white bar stools with a color change to black bar stools. The return policy is for 7 days, but unfortunately the 30 calls made for Mr. ** were never returned within the time frame.

Finally after 2 weeks and 20 messages left at the Sales office, we got a hold of him. When we told him about our concern, he showed a lack of interest and said, "There's nothing we can do." I questioned him on what protocol does their sales office have that none of the multiple messages were returned and despite the added warranty & large purchase order, how he could not speak with a supervisor to satisfy a repeat customer??? His arrogance from the first day seem to have worsened and he never returned my call after speaking with his own supervisor (whose name I was never provided with). I am infuriated with the extremely poor guest relations from this Room Place location in Lombard and will spread the word of my high dissatisfaction on every avenue of social media with horrible reviews on Better Business Bureau, ConsumerAffairs, Google, Yelp, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.

I have personally worked in the customer service industry for the last 10 years and have never dealt with such a lack of appreciation for retaining happy, existing customers. Sadly, as I started to post my terrible reviews, I discovered many other WORST experience ratings and "Buyer Beware" feed from the recent year as well. It is a shame how this popular location continues to not honor their warranty and will let customers walk away unhappy after spending thousands of hard-earned dollars on what is meant to be lifelong furniture. I will continue sharing my horrific experience until The Room Place comes with a solution to fix what is an error on their part with a horrible protocol on guest service and lack of communication.

I spoke with the V.P of customer relations, **, to get a resolution of The Room Place not honoring their warranties and the poor quality of their furniture. The Room Place Sales Representatives claim to offer the customers a "no problem" as they put it warranty. If anything should go wrong with the furniture whether it's The Room Place fault or the customers fault, the furniture will be replaced or refunded. This gives the customer a feeling of confidence in their potential purchase. It seals the deal for The Room Place for a lot of its customers, but it is a deceptive offer. This impression is given to many, many of The Room Place Customers. If you do an online web search for "The Room Place Warranty Problem" you will find a long list of customers who have the same complaint about this issue.

They were led to believe the quality of the furniture is good and they stand behind their product but The Room Place furniture quality is not good and The Room Place do not stand behind their product. After an almost $5000 purchase I made from The Room Place I found this out first hand. Initially after their denial to honor their warranty I received a Charge Back from my credit card company for the full amount I paid. After the Charge Back from my MasterCard The Room Place contacted me to make amends and replace my item. They replaced my item and asked me to reverse the Charge Back. In good faith I honored their request and contacted MasterCard to give The Room Place back the $4000+ payment. I believed by doing this good deed, if I was to have any problems with my furniture in the future it would be honorably resolved by The Room Place, but I was wrong.

The Room Place still denies future warranty claim after warranty claim. Even though Ms. ** says a "no problem" warranty does not exist and that we should not have been told that and she will "speak to" the sales rep who told us that. This does me no good. I have furniture that is breaking after casual usage of it and I am being told claim after claim it is not covered. Something needs to be done about The Room Place deceptiveness. There has already been an article in The Tribune about The Room Place wrongs. An Investigative Report by one of the News Stations or a Class Action Law Suit needs to be initiated. I am going to look into pursuing these alternatives otherwise The Room Place will keep doing wrong.

We purchased a sectional from The Room Place in 12/14. In 4/15 I called in a claim as one of the recliners was leaning. They did have a technician come out w/in one week. A little over a week later I received a call stating they declined it due to they could not find anything internally wrong. I called back and spoke with someone named ** who explained that since nothing can be found wrong internally they are just stating it is due to seat compression. I explained this was unacceptable and that I wanted this looked into because I paid too much money to have a leaning recliner. ** told me that he or a manager would call back by 8pm that day.

At 7:54 ** called back and stated that from the pictures he could see what I was talking about and that he spoke with a manager and the manager stated that it was normal for the recliner to lean. I was furious at this time so I told him I wanted a manager to call me back and he stated that he wouldn't be able to have one that evening but the next day and it is now 2 days later and no one has called. We were told that everything is covered under the warranty unless it was something that we had intentionally caused.

I do not accept that after less than 6 months of having this that it is normal for a recliner to start leaning to one side and if it is they should have explained this at the time of purchase because I would have walked out. Do not buy from The Room Place. They will not honor their warranty and they obviously have no problem stating that their merchandise is not quality (after the fact).

My family and I went to The Room Place on April 17, 2015. The shopping experience was positive. The issues arose in terms of delivery and customer service. First, I was told that the chair would arrive early April 23. I waited halfway through the day and called. I was told delivery could take until 6 pm, which I had not been told about or prepared for. The person I spoke with, **, was dry and rude (placing me on hold without warning while I was speaking with her). She states the delivery company called me the day before and left a message. My phone records from my provider verify no message was left as no phone call was received aside from one from a different business.

I explained this and she told me I was wrong. She called dispatch and informed me my delivery would be earlier afternoon. I requested to speak with a manager. I was sent to an office manager, **, who could not help. She was the most polite of the people I spoke with but had no way of addressing the situation per her report. She sent me to the general manager (no name given from what I could understand from him).

He also told me I was wrong, that I was called with this time frame. I asked him if he truly believed my records from my provider would be wrong. He stated that this was just the situation. I explained the concerns I had with customer service and the misinformation relayed. He audibly sighed at that point, and I called this out. He said he would get back to me and ended the call. He then had ** call back to tell me the delivery schedule was 2 to 6 and to wait. No way to remedy the situation was offered. I will not shop here again.

BUYER BEWARE! If you are considering shopping at The Room Place, I urge you to look elsewhere! I should've taken all of the awful reviews into consideration before I stepped foot in this store. At first glance, this seems to be a nice store with a good selection of furniture. Wait until you place an order though! I can genuinely say that The Room Place has offered the absolute WORST customer service I have experienced in my life! I'm not joking!

I placed an order for a couch in January to make sure it would be available for our move in April. I called them on two occasions just to confirm that my couch would be available on the date that it was supposed to be available. Both times I was told it would be in with no issues. I received a call the next day telling me that due to a "computer error" my couch would not be ready until next week. Fast forward another week and I get the exact same phone call after I had already confirmed that my couch would be available! In fact, I even received a call from the delivery company giving me a time that they would be at my house! I thought I was in the clear until I received a call from a rude customer service representative who informed me that my couch would actually not be delivered due to yet another "computer error."

I was incredibly confused and requested to speak with the manager who seemed more interested in getting me off the phone rather than taking time to hear my complaint. The manager actually revealed that the customer service representative had LIED (on multiple occasions!) and that there was never a computer error. They had never bothered to place the order for my couch. Mind you, we ordered this in January and it was April and my couch was still not ordered and no one could inform me when it would actually be ready. I was SO glad that I could get a full refund.

I think it is atrocious that a manager feels like it is acceptable to tell their employees to lie to customers, saying that they had a "computer error" which is was actually their own fault. Maybe they should put themselves in the customers shoes and realize that we had a new house and nowhere to sit for nearly two weeks because of the incompetence of their poorly trained, unprofessional, employees.

I happily did business with a different store across the street and had a great experience. I have a couch delivered within days and also received a hand written thank you note from the sales associate. To the Room Place management: I have urged my family and friends NOT to do business at your stores. I will continue to spread my complaints through social media and the BBB. I refuse to do business with an establishment that lies to their customers.

My sales associate ** was very helpful - he went over the details of my purchase and delivery and even helped me pick out a bedroom set and mattress that was in my budget. He also worked with me on my delivery date because I informed him I work weekdays and would only be available for delivery for weekends.

Yesterday, March 6th I received a phone call from your delivery services informing me they were 20 minutes away from my home to deliver my merchandise. I informed the delivery guy I was at work and had been contacted on Monday March 2nd for a confirmation of my order being delivered for Saturday March 7th between 11-3. The delivery guy informed me the paperwork that he had, had a set delivery date for March 6th and my order must of been changed. He then informed me he could deliver on Saturday but I would have to contact The Room Place to confirm a Saturday delivery date. I contacted The Room Place and they told me they would notate my account.

I then received a voicemail from the same delivery guy informing me I needed to contact his supervisor with dispatch about my delivery. When I contacted Mr. ** he was rude and informed me I could not have my merchandise delivered on Saturday, then began to state I would have to wait another week for my items and I needed to contact The Room Place again because they had messed up my delivery date in the system. When I then contacted The Room Place for the second time no one could inform me how or why my order was mixed up or who authorized my date to be changed. They also stated the only thing they could do was provide me with a refund of my delivery charges.

This has been a huge disappointment to me and a even bigger inconvenience for me. I disposed of all of my old bedroom furniture with the assumption of me getting my new purchase today and yet I will now be waiting until Monday morning for my delivery with two days without a bed to sleep in until Monday. I had 4 friends I was going to refer to The Room Place for purchasing your merchandise but I have now informed them to go elsewhere for better customer service and competent employees. The manager at the store location could care less that I inquired about cancelling my order, just went in the system and lied and said he was cancelling it out, only to find out my order has not been cancelled. I will never order anything else from your store. First and last time I will ever purchase from The Room Place!

Really bad experience with The RoomPlace and trying to file a warranty claim. We were seeing some abnormal wear and discoloration on our couch and loveseat cushions. We called and spoke to a representative. She said she would look in to it more and get back to us. After a week with no word back, my wife called back. She spoke to someone else. She told her the issues. When done the woman told us our warranty was expired. When we asked when, we were told a couple days ago. After arguing that we called last week, they finally agreed to send someone out.

When the guy they sent to look at the couch and loveseat came out for a visual he said it looked like normal wear. But we said the couch is only a year old. It didn't make sense. We also said we bought an extended warranty but they told us that does not cover wear. If I would have known that, I wouldn't have bought it. I bought it to get extended coverage on the couch. Evidently that's not completely what its for.

Also, he found some threads that were a little loose on a corner even though that was not the reason he was called out. We didn't think it was a big deal but he fixed them and then The RoomPlace tells us that the thread tightening was the one time claim that now our warranty was done. We wouldn't have had him do anything with a loose thread on the back of the couch if we knew it would end our warranty. SURPRISE!!

Another thing we feel we were taken on is that the sales person told us the couch and love seat were leather but it wasn't. It has the look and feel of leather. I still touch it with amazement that it is a type of micro-fiber. It feels like leather! But, we didn't find out it wasn't until we tried to file a warranty claimed. Then they told us it was some type of micro-fiber. The RoomPlace has lost a customer. I can't afford to spend my hard earned money on cheaply manufactured furniture (even though The Roomplace charges a pretty penny) that won't last for my family.

I purchased a couch less than 20 months ago and it is falling apart. Unfortunately, I did not by additional coverage because I assumed that the product I purchased would at least hold up for a decent amount of time. After speaking to representatives, I was read the script "we apologize but the manufacturer's warranty only last one year". My question to them is how can you put a product on the floor if YOU do not stand behind it as a company!!

I have no children jumping on this couch and it has not been moved since the day it was delivered so it did not even stand up to normal wear and tear! Oh, but the Room Place will be happy to refer me to a furniture repair store at my expense! I may be old-fashioned but this is just another representation on where our society is going. This company encourages you to purchase their product to turn a quick profit but the only way you can be sure if the product will stand the test of time -- a WHOLE 20 MONTHS --is to shell out more cash at the time of purchase. So you are essentially guaranteeing your own purchase>

First they delivered the wrong color leather sectional, then I was told they had to go to the glenwood store and pick-up the picture so, it will be a second delivery, you will be called when we are on our way. I guess I had nothing to do all day. Phoned the glenwood room place about the wrong sectional. I was told the sale person wrote the wrong sku number but we see at the bottom of the order sheet you requested only a white leather sectional. At this time I was having a party the next day. I had clear my living room of my old furniture so I had a empty room. And was told we can only deliver this Monday. "It's our fault but we do make mistakes". I would advise the public not to shop there and be careful of the sale people. They're only interested in sales. They don't take the time to make sure the numbers are accurate. Never will I shop there again.

I purchased a living room set and 2 kitchen tables from The Room Place. The tables and chairs have continued to come loose. Finally after contacting the insurance company once, The Room Place submitted my paperwork for the type of damages that are covered. Now my furniture cannot be repaired because the damage is too extensive and it only covers accidents but the insurance that I purchased was whatever the sales person made available to me. My chair to my living room set is unraveling at the seams. The leather couch pieces don't connect to each other. This was a waste of $8,000.00 which was just given to The Room Place for furniture that was virtually no good. I will never purchase another piece from the store.

Don't buy from Harlem Furniture/The RoomPlace! They do not back up their policies. I have bought several pieces of furniture from them. Some have been delivered defective: a broken lamp; a table where a top came apart; and now a mattress. Each time was a hassle. The latest, the mattress, which now sinks in the middle after only three years, to resolve this issue, they sent an inspector to evaluate. He gave us approval. We order a new mattress. They came today to deliver it and pick up the old mattress. The delivery guys said they could not take the old mattress, because there are stains. Instead of taking the old mattress outside and using the natural sunlight to evaluate, they used their cheap cell phone light to determine there are stains.

Of course we talked to customer service and they said they cannot take the mattress back if there are stains. I told them, there were no stains, it been approved, and Harlem Furniture has pictures to prove it. She told me she does not have access to the pictures, because they are not in the system. I told her this is ludicrous. It is not my fault they don't have the pictures. I also found out, the delivery guys are unwilling to take that kind of stuff, because it may be taken out of their paychecks if the manufacturer declines to take it back.

My coffee table is getting warpage, and when I called Room Place, they asked me to call Guardian for extended warranty. When I called Guardian, they told me that only accidental damage is covered and not manufacture/structural issue. Please note that it take 4 calls of 15 minutes each time hold over 5 days, before I could speak to somebody from Guardian. I want The Room Place to either take care of my coffee table or fully refund my extended warranty fee.

The sales representative Jim gave my date for delivering after several texting and phone calls, in store credits, excuses and lies. My furniture still has not arrive. They then send us to the Main one in Elmhurst and again promises and nothing. I was very disappointed with them and finally asked for my money back. I wouldn't only suggest that BBB rating is an F" in everything.

I have shopped with the Room Place for many years. In fact, most of the furniture in my apartment comes from the Room Place. My complaint is on the lack of customer service skills/professionalism of their delivery men and phone representatives with their credit card bank. I have cancelled my credit card today and refuse to ever step foot in another Room Place store again. Their credit card reps are the worse! I'll make sure to share my extreme dissatisfaction with friends and family.

For the amount of money they charge, the least they could do is hire people that represent their brand well. Instead I feel like all that matters is them getting my money and that’s it. Also, make sure to read the fine print with their warranties! Waste of money. I paid almost 100 dollars for my protection plan and after experiencing several issues with my dining room chairs and living room couch, nothing was covered. Well what the hell does the protection plan cover if it doesn't protect rips, loose buttons or wobbly legs? Never again with this place... I am so done. It’s so hard to get good service anymore.

I purchased a couch from the room place in Lombard IL. My new couch and love seat have gotten almost no use. I had people over and in my presence one of them sat back and there was a crack and a pop and the corner sunk in on the couch. The frame had broken on the right side near the arm of the couch and the fabric that was under tension that keeps the cushions from falling into the couch gave. I called the room place as these are still under the manufacturer warranty. A repairman from the room place came to my house and said they would be in touch.

After 2 weeks of no call I contacted them twice. Finally they tell me that the damage is too severe for it to be a manufacturer warranty claim and they denied it. DO NOT BUY from the ROOM PLACE!!!!!! The furniture they sell is made with SUB STANDARD everything and you will WASTE YOUR MONEY. They do not HONOR THE WARRANTY. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!!!!!

Sofa was WET on a cushion. There is a nail end that sticks out of the sofa and is very sharp! One cushion is not fully stuffed, just partially.

When I spoke to Customer service, I said I am not paying $90 for a delivery that was not even on time. They said yes you will. I asked why the couch was wet. I was told because it was wrapped prematurely with stain guard not yet dry. (My TODDLER touched this STAIN GUARD, how dangerous is that???) I asked if I can return the couch, they said I will NOT get a refund, just a choice for a different couch. I can't even return the vases I bought!!! Overall - BEWARE!! What you buy you are TOTALLY stuck with. Merchandise is very poor quality. First and last purchase at this place.

AVOID THE ROOM PLACE!!!! SCHAUMBURG LOCATION IS THE WORST PLACE TO GO TO!!! The absolute worst experience I ever had with any company in my life!! They sent half my order and didn't apologize. Supposedly they called to notify me of this, but never got that call.. Hmm yeah right! Then ** the Sales associate and ** (Manager) and told them the problems. He says, "Let me take a little bit off (delivery charge) for your problems," and of course I get the bill and it doesn't reflect that as well!!!! They set up an appointment for a guy who can only come on Thursdays and Fridays for whatever reason and it will be two more weeks till some guy can come out for the chaise that I spent over a thousand dollars for in that delivery and it doesn't recline!

I call and went to the store and spoke to son so I have to take the day off from work for this guy to come out and the guy never shows. I call the store and the sales associate tells me all she is a sales associate (nice thing to say when she already got her commission off of me) and can't do anything about it, then transfers me to some lady who is unprofessional who tells me that the person will come tomorrow and will call me tonight to confirm the time.. nothing again.. The guy shows up whenever he wants on FRIDAY with no phone call. I waited the whole day and then he of course shows up when he feels like it. I tell him to go home and I call their customer service. Again the lady tells me that it's my fault and I should just reschedule. Sure I can take another day off from work.

It's already been a month since I got my $1000 chaise and it still doesn't work. I call the customer service number once again and both women were nice and professional and told me their manager will call me. NOTHING!!! I wait by my phone waiting for this woman to call me! They don't care after they make the sale! Don't go here!!! Go to any store before this one!!! I've dealt with a couple furniture shows and their service is easily the worst I ever dealt with!!! THEY TELL ME I CAN'T RETURN THE CHAISE (THAT HAS NEVER WORKED), CAN'T BE RETURNED!!! AVOID THE ROOM PLACE!! AVOID THE SCHAUMBURG LOCATION!!

The Room Place is the worst place you can shop at. My furniture was delivered to me back in June 2012 and after 6 months it started to fall apart. Now it looks like a furniture bought at Goodwill (which was used for over 10years). I purchased all of the insurances possible just to make sure if anything happens I would be covered. **, the sales guy promised me that if anything to give them a call and there will be no problem with an exchange or some type of service. Now the company does not care anymore about me as the customer since I already gave them the money and the commission was already paid.

The store said that it is NORMAL for the furniture to look the way mine does AFTER 6 MONTHS. I had a tech at my house sent from The Room Place who told me when he came to check out the furniture that there is nothing that he can do because the defect is too visible. The store manager took a look at the pictures of the furniture and said that it should not look the way it does and promised me to exchange the piece for a new one. I waited but so did he until my 1-year warranty expired and told me its too late! The same set that I purchased for $2,000 went on sale for 50% off due to some defect... Obviously I was not the only one who was complaining.

The company sells furniture which looks like real Italian furniture for okay money but the quality is lower than the furniture sold at Ikea or fly market. Do not buy furniture from this store!!! Dealers who are selling cars care for their customers more that the ones in this store. There is no customer service in The Room Place especially in the MORTON GROVE LOCATION. Those people are there to make money, socialize with their coworkers (as you can see as you walk in), hunt for customers, and drink coffee. Their warranty/insurance does not cover anything. After you pay they do not want to see you again ....only if you wanna buy more which never happens once you purchase something there. I will never buy anything in that store again!!!

In June 2009 my husband and I brought a two piece living room set from the Room Place aka Harlem Furniture. We've only had it four years and it has began to peel, I mean literally peel. The suppose to be leather is separating from the material it's adhered to. When I spoke with someone at the Room Place they told me that the warranty place where I purchased my warranty had gone out of business and that they can prorate me a check for the balance left on my warranty which was $53.00. Now I paid $1,944.49 for this furniture. The first time I encountered a problem with this set was about two years ago the middle cushion had ripped so they sent a tech man out to fix it. Well they had to come out twice because the first tech didn't do a good job so they sent another one.

Shortly after that, that's when the set start peeling and the warranty place had gone out of business. I recently spoke with someone and I explained what was happening and they told me that the warranty place went out of business and that, that was nothing they could do. So to all those that are looking for furniture, DON'T GO TO THE ROOM PLACE. It's just a showcase of pretty furniture that's not made for real living, and what I mean about that it's just for show because once you start enjoying your investments, IT STARTS TO SHOW YOU JUST REALLY WHAT IT'S MADE OUT OF. SO WITH THAT IN MIND, BEWARE!!!!!!

I ordered 6 chairs. I was adamant in paying for warranty; I heard bad things. The rep encouraged me to get warranty. She said in case I can't get spots out, they will be replaced. She said that I should take it out if I get a spill on chair, but if I can't get it out, then I should call them. They won't come out to my home if there are small spots. So she said if it’s big and I can't get it out, I should call them because they are real picky. I've been getting it out until something was spilled and I couldn't get it out. I asked the rep about the warranty information and she said it would be sent. But if something happened before it comes, just call RoomPlace. Well, I’ve been calling RoomPlace and they said I just have to call and my paperwork will be mailed. I never received it and I'm paid in full. I asked my brother (whom I told to purchase from RoomPlace) about the warranty and paperwork. He said they purchased in full and received all their paperwork in 2009. I asked why I didn’t receive my information and only a cleaning kit.

So I called RoomPlace on May 11, 2012. They said call Guardian. I called 1-800-527-8485. They said I need to put a claim in. I said I wasn't familiar in how things go, but I guess so. She asked my how many chairs. I said 6. She said "Six!" I said yes. She said, “Are you where the chairs are?” I said yes. I took it now that she was talking about next to it. She said to count the spills. I said it’s a big spill. She said it’s accumulative and they don't do that. I told her I can't count the spills. She said, “Do I have a business?” I said yes. That information was on my online application. She said I am not covered. I told her I have kids and she asked if I had childcare kids. I told her yes. I had childcare kids, but I have kids now, meaning my children. I haven't had a child in my childcare for a couple of years now, but I do have kids that come over, whether they are my family or friends kids. She said it wasn't accidental. I said it was accidental. The kids accidentally spilled it and I couldn't get it out. She told me that she was denying my claim. I said, “What do I supposed to do with bad seats that I can't get out?” She said, “Call RoomPlace and get your money back.”

I called the RoomPlace. They told me that Guardian was supposed to give me my refund back if they weren’t going to clean or replace my chairs. Why is it that I complied with what they told me to do for their warranty and I don't get clean chairs, replacement seats or refund? RoomPlace gets $2,500. Guardian gets $75.00 and I get stuck. What happened to customer service? My large family wouldn't had considered RoomPlace if it wasn't for me. I have been with them since it was called Harlem Furniture. And you mean they can't come clean or replace my seats? I am paid in full with the RoomPlace. It’s not like I've been calling them to clean every 6 months. I actually did them a job by trying to get the spots out with the cleaning care they gave me. It didn't work.

But RoomPlace told me that I was supposed to call every time a spill took place. I said, “If so, then why give me the cleaning care and say get the spots out myself?” I've been a faithful and loyal customer and this is what I get. Their alternative for me is to pay professional cleaners to clean it. Well, I've been doing that. The professional want $99.00 to clean 6 small kitchen chairs. This is what I paid my warranty for. I wish they would reconsider their claim. RoomPlace said that since Guardian denied me, I can't put a claim in for my chairs which is warranty for 5 years, but I can do it for something else. I don't have nothing else. That's why I got it for the chairs; the table couldn't get a warranty. Now, I'm out. I will be telling my family not to order and get anything under RoomPlace. And I have a gigantic family.

I purchased a love seat and couch in June of 2006. I also purchased a five-year warranty. About three and a half weeks, I noticed seams coming apart. This was in a part of the couch you don't see everyday. Upon further examination, I found more hidden cracking and peeling of the leather. This is expressly covered in my warranty. I contacted The Room Place. They sent out a tech, who did some repairs. Then while attempting to repair, one seam he made a glue mess and then told me that he would be unable to repair and would have to order a new seat cover. Within a few days, the two other repairs he made failed.

While waiting for my new seat cover to be delivered, I received a letter from the company telling me that they are denying coverage. The company had already started repairs and in fact caused more damage. I filed the appeals that the company sent me. Now, they are claiming that they took over the warranty for Stainsafe as a "courtesy". In the letters sent to me, they used a language from the contract and I was never informed, that they are just doing a favor. I never knew that there was any risk to my furniture. Now the rep says that the contract is null and void. So which is it, they will cover some repairs that can be done by a tech but then deny if it is going to cost anymore! This is unfair business practices. I feel that this is very deceptive for consumers.

Chair was on backorder and when it finally came in and was delivered it was defective. We did not accept delivery. Second time the chair was delivered ,it was the exact same defective chair from the previous attempted delivery. We refused it again and requested money back on couch and chair.
