I purchased a living room full set in June 2019. It took about a week to get it and the store associates was rude and mean. I had to complain numerous times within the 6 months and they would stare at you when you come in the store. I have never been late but they would call me before the due date and on the due date for a payment. I am very happy my furniture is paid off and I don’t recommend them to nobody and I will never buy another product from this horrible company ever again due to bad experience smh.

Been paying on the living room set coffee tables and stereo for 3 years. 3 years later I'm still making payments on it. There's no way possible but I am. I have all the receipts to show for 3 years back and all they can do is come up with lies. The manager Aaron is rude. She tells lies and shouldn't be manager of anybody's property because she's very unprofessional and ** with a big bull ring in her nose which can be bad for business. For the past six months she has been refusing to give us our receipts and you're only getting one star because I was forced to give it in order to make this review when in actuality you don't deserve any and I'll be glad when Rent-A-Center goes out of business. Big rip-off especially at the store in Walterboro South Carolina.

Rent A Center 540-374-1275 in Fredericksburg Virginia is by far the worse damn Company to deal with. Ever since I started with them with a washer and dryer set the washer worked for a few weeks then the lock starting messing up and I had to call them. Got that fix and weeks later the dryer started messing up and burned my family clothes. Again I had to call them again so my items can get fixed. Every time I called with an issue they never took full responsibility for their crappy equipment, they always blamed the customer for the equipment messing up.
After a couple of repair issues the service guy then told me if it happens again I’m responsible for paying for their repairs. Hello my lease wasn’t even up yet and they steady wanted to keep getting my money. Wanda has the worse attitude I have ever experienced and she talks to you on the phone like you’re stupid and you don’t know what you're talking about. Pat kept questioning me as to why my equipment kept messing up and what I was doing to them. Again you're not suppose to put the blame on your customers just so you can continue to make the company look good.
Here I am my lease is paid for and I still do not have my matching dryer. My lease has been paid for MONTHS AND MONTHS AGO and I’m still waiting. I called in. Wanda acts like I never had equipment there which is ** and she never returned my phone call so I guess I’m stuck now with a NON matching washer and dryer set at my home. I by far will NEVER recommend this particular location to anyone.

I agree with many of the concerns posted here. Many are true. Yes they are doubling the price you pay off in 6 months for anything. Example the Nintendo Switch is $300 in any store. I needed two for this Xmas for my nephews whose dad is unemployed now and cannot afford two Nintendo Switches. Neither can I, can you? So instead of Santa letting the boys down and ruining their Xmas I went to Rent A Center and rented 2 Switches. Pay off on one is $600 and change, twice the amount from a Gamestop or Walmart's store who sell them for $265 to $299 each. But where else can you get what you need no credit check and yes you pay more for the item in the long run but it's either that or wait till you can afford that $900 living room set or even one Nintendo Switch. You probably won't get anything at all down the road because unless you're very well off and making pretty good money who can save $900 for a living room set hands down.
We pay high taxes in NYS here, fuel oil and gasoline prices are crazy, food prices, and don't get me started on Price Chopper they price gouge. And Rent a Center does offer you the option to return your rental anytime and pick up again on it when you can afford it paying only the remaining balance. I understand it is a rip off but it's an option to get what you need that you never save for and an unnecessary evil. But I know two kids that will be very happy this Xmas because they each have a Nintendo Switch from Santa thanks to Rent a Center. Maybe Santa will get me one. I feel the Automobile market is nuts. Personally I think you're nuts to pay $45.000 for an SUV or more for a PU truck. 2 yrs later you can never recoup that money either and your new car is now not worth the price you paid ever again. So don't knock rent to own businesses.

This is the most ** and raggedy place to rent furniture from! I was in the store for less than 2 minutes before my 4 year old daughter tripped over a couch that barely had any cushion on the arm rest and busted open her eye! The store was so packed with furniture you could barely move through the aisle! The manager Matthew and worker showed no compassion and didn’t even ask if she was ok and they couldn’t find the first aid kit to even treat my daughter eye! I called the police and ambulance! The District manager Elaine was out of town in Michigan and promised me that my daughter medical bills would be taken care, when she returned she completely blew me off! She even hung up in my face when I asked for the district director name and phone number! I’ve called Rent-A-Center corporate plenty of times and they have yet to help out, this whole company is horrible and idek why they're still in business!!! Do not go there!!!

They call you multiple times on your due date, they don’t even wait 24 hours after your due date to call. Who calls on the due date to collect payment. I have been paying for an item for over 30 weeks and the store is demanding that I set up auto payment because it’s under new management. NOWHERE in my agreement does it say I “have to” sign up. Then once I couldn’t pay on time, spoke to someone at the store and they agreed to let me pay 2 days later, I get a call later that night from the store saying no, not possible. They overcharge and are aggressive and will call our employer when you’re not even a week late. Stay far away from these people.

Payments are never what they say online, you will end up paying more than 2000 dollars for something that is 700 dollars and their customer service sucks. I was paying 140 dollars for a living room set and one day I decided to google it and the same set was less than 800, the only reason I didn’t return it was because I already have paid like 1000 dollars. I don’t recommend this company, if you have a 600 credit score you can be approved for an Ashley credit card and get any furniture you want for 2 years without interest.

Never rented anything from them so apparently someone used my phone number. Have told them 3 times I have no idea who they are talking about and please remove my phone number. They have left messages saying they have driven by my house. Most of the messages you can barely hear what they are saying but the man sounds intimidating. I am now considering making a police report with the state police and getting a lawyer.

So my husband and I got a 55" flat screen tv and were told the monthly fee, and setup the due date. However, when we called to pay the first few months, they would ask us how much we wanted to pay. My hubby was out of work a few days and they made "a payment arrangement" which turned out to be a change in how we pay. Now we were paying every 2 weeks. Which they told us, was cheaper than paying monthly. They could never give us exact numbers of how much we owed, it was just how much do you want to pay?
We continued paying bi-weekly and they would literally start calling THE DAY YOUR PAYMENT WAS DUE...SOMETIMES TWICE THAT DAY!! If you were late, let's say by 3 days, they were knocking at your door!! They don't even give you a chance to pay before they start harassing you. They called my job, when I was ONE DAY LATE!!!! We used Aaron's before and had a set amount and due date. I will never use RAC again!!!

Absolute worst people I have EVER dealt with. Our bed broke and we aren’t really of the financial means to go and pay full price for a bed, so we contacted Rent a Center. From the get go, these people were awful. The bed I wanted was not in stock at the store in Orchard Park, NY that I wanted so I was advised they would have to get the bed from another store so they couldn’t deliver same day. No big deal, I was willing to wait for the bed I wanted. This was on a Saturday so I set up delivery for the following Saturday to ensure I was home to accept the delivery since I was told it would take 3-5 business days for them to get the bed. I was also told I would get a free week from the promotion they were running.
From this point on, NIGHTMARE. I paid $46 upfront when my weekly payment was only $25. Then they tried to make me pay for the week I didn’t have the bed. Sorry, but I wasn’t my fault you didn’t have the product in stock. But they claimed my free week was the week I had to wait for the bed. I’m sorry, but my “free” week can not be a week I don’t have the product. My weekly payment is due every Saturday and I make the payment every Thursday when I get my paycheck. I do this because otherwise I will start being hounded with phone calls from Thursday until I make the payment.
This past week my family was out of town at a hospital for an issue my son was having. I was stressed beyond max and forgot about the payment. I received 2 voicemails EVERY SINGLE DAY. I called the store and advised I would make the payment when I got home. I’m not even home for an hour when these people send someone knocking on my door to collect a payment of a whopping $25. These people are unbelievable over this little amount of money. I work in customer service and never would I ever treat my customers like this. But if you enjoy being hounded and stalked, this is your company for sure.

I did a transaction over one year ago. One month ago I contacted them to find out the balance on my account because the website DOES NOT provide that information. At that time the lady told me two more bi-weekly payment of 100 and 129 respectively to close the account. Fast forward to today when I called to close the account, the rep now tells me it's 2 more payments of 100 and 110 left on the account. To make matters worse, there is no place on the website that you can check your balance.

Decent company to buy from. They are very quick but unprofessional. As I walking into the store, they were loading another customers product into the truck and they were just throwing the pillows into the dirty truck with no covers. I asked the manager if that's how they deliver them, and he said yet. With NO protect-ant on them. They charge you for tax on every payment you make every week and they do not have the option of convenience of letting you decide how much you'd like to pay off a week. They advertise "6 months same as cash" though they do not allow it to be easily accessed for paying online. You'd have to call in I’m sure.

PLEASE NEVER SHOP WITH RENT-A-CENTER. You will regret it before they even give you a receipt. I purchased a living room set from them, 2 end tables, a middle table and 2 lamps that have never worked. Talked about upset from the moment they backed their vehicle into my home to deliver. Bringing the furniture in, they scratched my wall, knocked my corner beads loose and knocked the paint off. Asked me to look at and didn't even mention the option to call the store to file an insurance claim because of their damages. Also, they are very disrespectful from the manager to the lowest paid person in the store. I called them and explained what had taken place. The store manager's only concern was "Will you still be making your payment this weekend"?
At this point, I'm like "Are you serious, this is the only thing you're worried about". How about fixing what your delivery drivers messed up and offering some lamps that work. Yes I purchased my own light bulbs and tested them just to make sure that wasn't the issue. And it wasn't the light bulbs. They actually did not work. I told them to pick up their items and if my home gets messed up any more than it was that I would sue. Shaking my head. They are so horrible. PLEASE NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH RENT-A-CENTER.

When I reported him I was transferred to a store 30 minutes away and when I came home they piled my door with over 30 stickers. When I called to see what happen the manager laughed and hung up the door. To take it further he sent me a harassing text messages on my personal cell number. I rented a laptop from Rent-A-Center. After 3 months I notice a clicking sound whenever I opened or closed the laptop, then the hinge failed. This is a well known issue with HP laptops. I called up the store, was told a loaner would be given till this one gets worked on. The laptop was taken back to the Rent-A-Center, Riverview, Florida. They refuse a loaner, saying this could have been my fault! After 12 days they now say I can get a loaner because HP says it wasn't my fault, but a design flaw from them! And I was paying an extra $10 monthly just to be able to bypass this terrible situation, $75 altogether. Terrible service. And now they can stay with the laptop. I will find another rental center or buy a laptop and things will be better! I use this for working from home. I can't be waiting 12 days for another laptop! Crazy!

I have spent more than a 1600 dollars with them and they want to keep harassing me and playing games. I am on a oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico. We do not bring our wallets out. Just our ID and dive certs. I left a review last week that they deleted from their website. I am so sick and tired of this crap.
On top of that found out they charge almost double retail value on their stuff. I've never rent to own anything before and the only reason I did it this time was a time crunch to get a bigger couch for family that was coming in for Xmas. I've had enough. I'm going to the Better Business Bureau as well as the Consumer Affairs office and filing a lawsuit against them for my money back as I will be having them pick their ** up on Tues, when I return to San Diego since I will be flying into LAX and staying in LA till Tue. No calls or anything, FIRST TWO RED FLAGS! But I still gave them chance after chance because maybe I was just crazy. Hell no. Don't waste your money or your time.
I had a washer and dryer set from here, the dryer took 3 hours to dry the smallest load of clothes. They knew about this since the day they delivered to me. They will not refund me for a product I had that never worked when I got, it and I've had it for months. They claimed it might be the brand (Amana) and I went along with that ** knowing damn well that doesn't matter. They were supposed to bring me a new dryer, never did. So I decided I would no longer pay for a broken dryer because then they'll have no choice but to communicate. I'm completely right. They called me for a payment. I told them I'm not paying for this anymore while it's broken and to come get it. That's when they were like, "Do you want the new dryer." The new dryer that they were supposed to bring weeks ago and never did!! I'm mad asf and refuse to let this happen to anyone else. DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE!!!!

So I call them they told me 04/05/2019 I would have it.
So I left work early again. It got to be around 5 pm. So I called corporate. Only after corporate called them did they bring out my merchandise. Other than the TV it was NOT what I ordered !!!! then they did not have a mattress. I asked them where it was then they told me it was not in my contract!! Then they LIED an said they would be back in an hour an never came so when I called the office the sales rep, tried to make it appear as if I told her I did not want a mattress. It wasn't that she clearly was not listening. As a customer service agent myself I know that active listening IS required skill.
now she is trying to say that they are going to have to redo my contract an I will have to pay 25.00$ extra for them to deliver it. From the store in Searcy Arkansas all the way to the corporate department in Texas, they are all liars. I rented some furniture from the Searcy, Arkansas rent a center mid December 2018. First of all, they delivered the wrong tv and damaged 3 of my walls bringing the furniture in. Then when I got ready to make my first payment, out of nowhere the weekly price had doubled and all I was told is that I didn't read my contract correctly. Then I was told that some of the furniture was left off.
Of course, I read my contract correctly and it was the exact price that was agreed upon. If a mistake was made, how come no one informed me when it was caught??? I called corporate and eventually got to talk to the district manager who did nothing but spit one lie after another about what she would do. She stated she would make sure they rewrote the contract and give me the furniture for the price originally agreed upon. But mid January she stopped returning my calls. The store came under new management about the end of Jan. 2019 and the new manager did nothing but lie as well. I was constantly told that they would honor the original agreement but in the end, about mid February, I was told to either pay what they wanted me to pay or they could come and get the furniture.
Of course, I let them come and pick up the furniture mid February. You can't scam me into paying twice as much than what was originally quoted!! The best part of the whole ordeal was that they didn't tear up my walls when they came to pick up the furniture. This was by far the worst rental experience I have ever had. I will never rent from them again and will discourage all of my friends and family from renting there. Incompetent or just plain scam artist... I'm not even sure which one they are but I'm just happy to be rid of them. NEVER AGAIN!!!

I had gotten a couch from Rent-A-Center about 5 months ago and recently my daughter spent 3 wks in the hospital so I could not go to work. And I called And told them to come pick up the couch because I will not be able to make my payment because I have been off work. However they never showed at the scheduled time claiming they went to the wrong house so the day my child was released 1 wk later they called me.
I told them I was at the hospital and that my child was being released that night and that I would call them when I got home with her and they could come pick it up. They showed up at my house before I got home. Told my 11 yr old son I sent them there to get the couch and thAt he had to let them in. They went in and took the couch with no adult present and bullied my son into letting them in. I got home 15 minutes later. They didn’t even attempt to call me when they were at my door. It’s like I was dodging them. I told them to pick it up when I got home. I will never do business with them ever again. I called and made a complaint but that worker is still working there like it was no big deal that he did that that way. Be careful when dealing with them because an adult does not have to be present for them to go in your house.

I’ve been with Rent A Center for 5 plus years and have bought many many items from them. The past year I was in an car accident and my payments have been a few days late however I call and let them know. Even if payment is late we still make. I ordered a king size bed for my son two weeks before Christmas 2018. The reps at the store told me there was a delay getting the bed due to Christmas. I understood that, No problem.
Three weeks into the new year and still no bed. Five weeks after new year the store manager I have been with for years tells me that the cooperation denied sending the bed due to my payment history. Seriously after everything we have bought from Rent A Center, I mean my whole house almost is furnished by them!!! Plus you waited weeks to tell me the reason I couldn’t get the bed! We gave my sons old bed away! Thinking the new bed was on the way!!! My buying is stopped. I will never buy anything from them again! They’ve lost a long time customer!

JP was so understanding and helped me to fix my issue all in one visit. I had a plan and a scheduled delivery all in 20 mins! I have a 2yr old and was at my breaking point, JP explained the process and made it so simple! I have learned that this company had not only great employees but has great customer service! They said they don't have any, and don't know where to get one, The manager Dave who's photo hangs on the wall "HORRIBLE". I also bought a bedroom set. Gave half to my sister due to lack of space. I have had 57 hip surgeries, a full humerus repair, and triple back fusion. I've always paid my bills, it's my motto. These guys called my sister, landlord, while I was in a coma. I also am a former Paralegal so I don't take **. How embarrassing, spoke to a corporate officer, he is just like his management.
Nevertheless the bedroom set was out together improperly along with the air conditioning unit, my landlord has repaired both items, he knows I'm handicapped and cannot do it myself. If I could tell ANYONE interested in using this company, keep a subfolder of all your payments, be sure the item is new, not used, I have a hole in my hip, I need a mattress to cushion my wound. This is my second mattress, I despise this company with every bit of me. I get a call this morning 2/2/19, I'll remind you I just paid them 200.00 on 1/30/2019. Josh calls me, I returned the call, asked, "What could you possibly want from me today, I just paid $ 200.00 a few days ago, I'm terminally ill." He states my payment is due. I'd say poor communication, lack of empathy for ANYONE.
I wouldn't start a lawsuit at this point although I can, I'm familiar with the laws and pleadings. People do your research, keep notes, records, print receipts, keep copies, anything that can save you from being harassed, I'll never do business with this company AGAIN. Corporate has to see all these negative comments, I'd say they are the next company to be closed due to some laws being broken.

I gave them my bank statement and they wanted my card number and PIN so they call my bank and get info. I told them no and told them I need to block out my card number. They would not let me block out card number and keep my bank statement! And then when I found out why the payment was not in their system I called back down and right away and told them as soon as hits back on card I will bring it and pay. They said, “No we want all your info card number and PIN because we are going to call your Bank!” So I called the 1 800 number and I'm still waiting on someone to call me back.
I have always made my payment to them and now that the 2 things are almost paid off one is 200 and one is 300 and they are paid off for, they look at you like you’re are piece of **. When you get disability check and you pay monthly and the bull crap benefit plus is a joke. I asked I could use it till the money got put back on my card and they said NO!!! And all I'm doing is waiting for the money to get back on and pay the bill but as soon everything is paid off I will never go to Rent-A-Center ever again. I don't care if something I really need like a fridge, stove, washer and dryer. I will try to find a second hand. And as for the Rent-A-Center where I go to make payments all of them idiots in need to be fired because when I go in there I'm nice as can be but I hold my tongue from what I really wanna say to them and they don't give a flying donkey ** if you lose your job, or your hrs get cut back or pay get cut.
They don't wanna help ya all. They lie so much and I hate Rent-A-Center with Passion. Can't wait till everything is paid off so I can tell them where to go because I won't hold my tongue then and I hope corporate work see this and maybe something will be done about how their workers treat us. Maybe they should go undercover and get something and see how they treated when the checks get cut back or they lose a job and then see what we go through. They have been harassing me coming to my house calling any and everybody. Tried to get it worked out where I could make a double payment as soon as I get my check and they turned it down and was not willing to resolute with me at all. I refuse to do a new agreement so at this point I am officially done with rentals. If I can't afford it at that time well then maybe it's just not meant to be. And for this same TV that they tack on 1000% interest - I might add - I can go to Best Buy and get for $500.00 and be done with it altogether. After all this Rent-A-Center you showed your true colors and I'm done.

Hi my name is Dawn. I just want to say that I have never met a store full of such welcoming voices every time I call as the RAC in Egg Harbor on Black Horse Pike. Most of all I am thankful for Sean. He goes above and beyond. He personally handles my account, as I have been a customer for about 5-6 years now and invested $43,000 to date. In that time as we all know life hits unexpected snags and Sean has been through everything with me from big situations like my parent's death, and sister's suicide, to little situations like just not getting my pay on time.
No matter what the situation he has always put his faith and trust in me that if I couldn't make a payment (which at times I couldn't pay for weeks) he trusted I would pay. He worked through every situation with me as long as I communicated with him what was going on. He always assures me we will get through this. He does not just treat you like a customer that never has problems. He makes you feel like family. He helps you want to stay a customer forever. If any place to get all the furniture needs this is it. Yeah I can try other places closer to home but working with Sean and being greeted so nicely by the store employees is definitely worth the extra distance. I must say if Sean ever left, I honestly don't know if I would want to stay though, as he is what makes you feel like more than a customer. The most I have ever seen in my lifetime of stores.

I made an online payment and waited days for my things to arrive. Now back to me waiting days I was told several times that they were going to deliver my items on a specific day and they didn't nor did they call me to inform me they were not going to arrive that day. I had to call a few times for a few days and finally they delivered the items. Mistake #1.
The next bad experience I have had is harassment. This company will call you non-stop they day of your payment. They don't give any breaks if you don't answer. They will continue to call until you answer. They don't care if you are at work. If you talk to them on the phone and make arrangements with them they will still show up at your house. You could have spoke to them that day and said I'm going to make a payment over the phone they will still come to your house. This company don't care. World stay away from these folks. There are so many other companies like Conn's who are so much better.

I recently rented a few items from Rent-A-Center and after a few months I started to get behind due to pay decrease this time of year right now. I drove in on Friday, December 15, 2018 and asked if I could pay for the washer and dryer since I had $200 on my card. I was told it is all or nothing for $310. I said, "I cannot do that much. Schedule the pickup and I will work on paying the debt off of $310 that month."
It became 6 pm Sunday night; everything sitting in my living room all day but no one called or showed up. I call them at 6:03 pm and they said they cannot do it, Monday now. No call, no nothing of a heads up, I stayed close to home that day and from 2-6 I made sure to be home and re-scheduled a few things. Monday comes by and I am back at work. I call them and get told they cannot pick up again, but, when can I pay the $190? I said “I was told Friday that it had to be $310 only is the minimum”. Then, I get told to stay on hold. Credit manager now on phone. He said I can pay the $190 now and keep it all or just the washer and dryer – I told him if he told me that Friday when I drove in to their store I would have paid the $190 and we would all be better off and caught up. But since I was told otherwise I paid another bill and the money gone.
Now they tell me another week I have to wait to have it picked up since they are too busy. This place has NO COMMUNICATION between customers or employees. Someone is always sick so they cannot help or something else happened. And when I come to explain my story for the month I get told all or nothing (yes going on 3 weeks due on a bi-weekly pay schedule for RAC). It is like a game there whether you call in or come in.
I am so frustrated and will NEVER go to RAC and will tell everyone and social media about my experience to help others from being in this trap. I really need a washer and dryer and that is why I drove it to communicate this and see what we could do to save it and use my $200 I had – but again, no - there was no option, probably because everyone out sick since she was the only one there and looked and sounded all stressed out on that 15th day in December of 2018.
What can RAC do to help this cluster of a mess? I know and took ownership of being the 3 weeks late now, but was ready and tried to work it out 3 days before. Now they cannot pick up and try to pressure me into keeping it all??? Where is the customer centric obsessiveness for customer service? It is like I am making their lives harder by walking into the store.

With the paperwork that they give I was able to look up the serial number to see how much my tv was worth. It sells online brand new for $900 and they were charging me almost $3000 for the tv if I didn’t pay it off within 90 days, on top of that the tv I got from them was used. People who don’t have good credit don’t need to be further ripped off if they’re already in a bad situation to begin with. So thanks but NO thanks.

They sent some guy to treat it twice, and both times, all he did was use something to mask the odor. Some guy name Jason has been giving us the runaround for the last 2 weeks. Every single time we call, we are told that he's out sick, had to leave for a manager's meeting, or had a family emergency. It's funny how once they get money from you, you no longer matter to them. I think I will just give them their stuff back, and advise any and everyone looking for furniture or whatever not to ever go them! They don't care about their customers, and everyone working there is fake, and a liar! I know Jason was there each and every time we called, but had everyone lying for him.
This place is a joke, and I will never deal with them again. Oh, don't forget, they will still take money out of your account even if the what you're are renting from them is defective, so buyer beware. Never give them your card number if you're smart. You'll be lied to saying they will compensate you by taking off a payment, but that's a lie and a lot of b.s.!!! Don't believe anything anyone tells you up there. I made the payment even when the furniture didn't arrive because I wanted to be on time with everything. When I called them, they asked me for information I already gave. I also signed my agreement. Why are they asking me for additional info? Shouldn't that have been discussed before I signed. They never call me to update me and I have to reach out to them multiple times. When I reach out I am on hold for a long time! It's just a horrible experience going back and forth with them and still not have my order delivered after I paid what I needed to plus more!

She even asked me to help her put stuff together when she arrives. Too bad they never arrived! They are unorganized and unprofessional. At first I read reviews and I thought it could not be that bad, but please listen and take heed of the reviews. They are accurate. Order from Aaron's if you are doing rent to own! Two months ago, I became a customer of Rent-A-Center. Since that time, I have been reading the online reviews, and am astonished at the negative reviews that they are getting. There have been at least three times that my payment was due on Saturday, and I did not pay until Monday. Of course they called me on Saturday to remind me that my payment was due. I don't have any issue with that. Recently, I had an issue with my paycheck, and am almost a week late with my payment. I made arrangements to make my payment this Friday, along with the next week's payment as well. The person I talked to was very understanding and helpful. He didn't send guys around my house nor did they call my place of employment or go there to try and harass me.
I think that what some of you do not understand is that they are renting to people with horrible credit. I consider myself lucky to be able to get a living room set or an Xbox on credit. Am I paying double for the items? Absolutely but, had I made better financial decisions, I would not be in the position to need to rent from this place.
I truly believe if you keep in constant contact with them, and explain your situation that they do work with you. I mean once you are three days late with your payment, they charge you a late fee per item so, they end up getting more money out of you. I think they come and harass you or back the truck into your drive to get their items when you ignore their phone calls and requests for payment. It's just like a car payment. If you ignore the bank or the finance company, they will end up sending the repo man.
As far as people saying that have gotten broken items or things that don't work, why when you contacted them, did you not say that you want a not previously rented item? I think it's definitely a risk to get a used bed or couch. Not everyone is as clean as you may be. They could have had bed bugs or roaches. How would Rent-A-Center know if the person has bugs? That being said, I am renting a used tv because it was way cheaper in the long run to rent a previously rented item. I have had no issues with it. No way in hell I would rent a used bed for my kids.
I think before you blame the company for their collection tactics that you take a look at yourself and how you are to them. Do you avoid their phone calls? Do you hide when they come to your house? If so, it's time to return the items and get them back when you have the money. They have that thing where you can return an item if you can't make the payment, and get it back and continue paying where you left off.

I wished that we researched this place before getting into business with them. Rent-A-Center in Pennsylvania Ave in Brooklyn. We already put 600 dollars down and we were late for ten days. The guy decided to come and take the tv. There was no one home but my 13 years old. He told her to open the door for him because her father sent him to get the tv. That was unprofessional and very disrespectful, when my daughter said she’s a minor and can’t open the door without an adult present. He kept on banging the door hard. My daughter called my husband and explained the situation to him. She was afraid. This is a bad place to deal with. They just disrespectful and don’t care. I would never do business with them or let anyone I know do so.

In the beginning the experience was great. However, after a few months it went downhill. If you are even a day late on your payment they are calling 4 and 5 times a day. Then they resort to coming to your house and leaving a note on your door. When you call to make a payment they’re rude and unprofessional. No “thank you for your business” no nothing. The “manager” just hung up on me after telling me my payment was approved. I think they all need to calm down and take a class on business practices and customer service. It’s freaking used furniture for crying out loud! Even the bank gives you a 10 day grace period for your car payment. I’ll just be glad when this crap is paid off and I never have to deal with this staff again! My advice, if you want to rent to own or finance with crappy credit, go to rooms to go! RENT A CENTER IN LAKE ELSINORE, CA. Wow, this place is horrible, a friend of mine mentioned that people are great, somehow I have to verify who is he referring to. I called. Spoke to a lady, very nice, asked to come in and see and choose. Then I came in and eventually spoke to this guy. He said his name is "Jeff", saw a picture on the wall. He's the manager. I was like wow then that's great I get to meet the manager. To my dismay, he is ALL CAPS, "LOUD, ARROGANT, TOO CONFIDENT, RUDE, NO COMPASSION TO HIS CUSTOMERS. He talks like he's all that, like he owns the whole damn rent a place in the whole city"!!! Noticed he just wants to close a deal fast and owns you, so I refused. I feel so bad to my friend, going to let him know to try and pay off what he owes and never go back. I'm thinking my friend probably been speaking to the staff who covers their bosses attitude so that no one notices.
He probably hardly met the DISTRICT MANAGER "JEFF", since my friend pays online, I WILL GO TO WEBSITE LOOK FOR THAT JEFF PICTURE AND SHOW IT TO MY FRIEND. Going to look how to get him FIRED. I Don't care if he has a family to feed, he doesn't deserve the job, please this ugly **, a waste of my drive and time. I was just being nice to even give it a star, seriously their manager do not need a star. He needs to disappear, his staff that "lady - Ingrid" should be manager. She deserves 5 stars. Better yet, get fired, Jeff you call yourself a manager or the manager, not right for you, you are the worst. I will do in my power to get you fired.

Updated on 10/22/2018: These people are terrible. They pulled up at my house without me knowing that they were even coming. I was told that they would call before they came. The guy from the store calls my cellphone and says "my guys are at your door to pick up the merchandise." I explained to him that I'm not home and they should've called like how they say they were. His response "well you're gonna have to make a payment today" that leaded into an argument. He then told me I was lying about not being home. I told him that I have death in the family and had to leave with my parents. His response "I don't care anything about that. Either you make a payment or have somebody to meet us." Anyways long story short I CALLED CORPORATE! Waiting on someone to call me back. Should be by this week. The guy needs to be fired for bad customer service. I'm surprised this company is still running due to all the bad customer service.
Original Review: I got an item from these guys a few weeks ago. Payments made on time every single week with no problem. We had a very bad storm here so I got behind on some of my bills... so the guy calls me and ask for my payment. I told him that I need more time to get caught up with everything because of the bad storm (which they knew about). He goes to say, "Well that'll be double payment next week and a late fee!!!" I asked if he could take the late fee off. Of course he say "no" so then of course they called me the next week asking for those two payments. I told him I still didn't have it.
I just needed a few more days (literally only needed 2 days). He placed his manager on the phone and he straight up told me "No" with no problem then he threatened to come pick it up... told me I had to make those two payments or else. They say they'll work with you but it's definitely a lie. THEY DON'T CARE!! I've heard bad things about these people but I like to see things for myself!! Never again. They definitely lost a loyal customer.

My husband and I purchased a portable washer and dryer from Rent-A-Center in Milford N.H. For the first couple weeks they were great, very accommodating to us and our needs. Then they started calling non stop on the day our bill was due just to ask how we planned on paying our bill. Now we had never been late with any payments. We asked over and over again that they not call on Saturdays. My husband works and they interrupt him at work for BS. They didn't listen. They kept calling. Then we had a family emergency so we didn't get our payment in on time. They called twice a day every day and filled our voicemails on both of our phones.
I tried to go into the app on that Thursday and pay the previous bill and there was an added payment due to the account. I called when we were back home to make the past due payment because you can't separate the payments online. He says to me "I'll be happy to take your payment that will be $44.98!" Our bill was $35.98 but for my convenience for him doing over the phone there's a $5.99 fee and another $3 fee for something else. I lost it and told him he was out of his mind and I was NOT paying an extra almost $10 for him to process my payment over the phone. Then I called and spoke to Eric who is I guess supposed to be the manager and he lies to me telling me he doesn't understand why they're calling since we're on the do not call list.
This is the kicker to his statement, it was Eric that called 8 out of 10 times! But he doesn't know why they're calling. So finally I told him we were done with them and we're bringing them back and he says "Oh no, we're not going to do that." I said "Yes we are because we're done being treated like crap by your staff!" He kept yelling over me when I was trying to tell him we were returning it so I said "Ok we're done. Goodbye". We returned them and will NEVER do business there again.

Because I do not drive, I used Rent-A-Center which is a block away knowing I would pay double the normal price - $1,121 cash for a new 55" Samsung TV. They informed me there are no returns on cash purchases which is fine and delivered it that day. When it was delivered, it was out of the box, with a few scratches on it and would not work with any of the three remotes any of the three delivery men brought. They informed me to try purchasing a universal remote. They had tried to contact Samsung, who stated they would send me an email in order to send them a copy of my invoice, which never happened. I spent the next few days trying to contact Samsung myself, finally got the email, sent a copy of my receipt, just to find out (and notice) that the receipt only states "Miscellaneous Items" as sold. Samsung says that they cannot verify from the receipt that I purchased one of their televisions from this.
I purchased two universal remotes and neither worked with the TV. I believe, they gave me someone else's TV who could not pay their bill and was repossessed. I went to speak to them about exchanging for a different, working, TV, but they flatly stated, "No, there are no refunds or exchanges of any kind on cash purchases!" This does not seem right, they knew when they set it up, it was not working. I purchased a new TV, expected it to come into my home in a box. DO NOT USE RENT-A-CENTER!!!

This office lies and caught them on video and refused to do my agreement cause of the $3.17. They lied about not being able to verify my references after I recorded every reference saying they gave them my address and home number. WOW really. People I usually wouldn’t say this but wait until they have a sale. Get what you want for $3 a week then return it. Football game rent a big screen, then return it. Tell Alan Jennifer sent you right before you walk out. Thanksgiving and Christmas family coming over. Rent stuff then bring it back. It's all legal. That store is full of liars so find the loophole and use it.
Updated on 6/10/2018: With the recording in my hand I went back up there to confront Alan & Jennifer both for lying about not reaching my references. Anyway so the next day of course they wrote up my agreement and nothing was done to the 2 employees who lied just because of the special the store was running. And with proof in my hand that I get paid weekly they didn't even want to look at that, cause they wanted to put me on a monthly agreement cause of the price I would have to pay to get the item. But now they are calling after 2 months later and telling me to bring it up there. They will look at it now.
But anyway I'm writing because this Laurinburg store is so bad. If you have a payment 1 day late. I've been called by Phil with him saying "if I don't get a payment in from you today I'm gonna lose my job". I can't help but laugh cause dude really. 1 day late and your gonna lose your job. I will make the payment when I can cause I had to order a new debit card. Mine is so scratched up it wasn't working right. I ordered a whole new card with different numbers so I don't have that info yet. It will be 5-7 days and I will make the payment.
This was on a Thursday we had this talk. I said, "I should have my card Friday or Monday the latest, since I had already ordered it days ago." I was told, "Oh no. That is way too late. I can't do that." "Well okay, what are your choices, I'm not home so that means you're not getting in my house, plus if I was I'm not letting you in." Not when "I know the payment will be made Monday as soon as my new card arrives." So then I'm told, "Ok. I will go and start legal actions", go ahead you're gonna go to the court house, pay money to start legal actions, by the time you do all that on Monday (when I told you I'm making my payment) kind of a waste of time, huh. But knock yourself out.
This store is horrible. They lie about calls, say, "We have called you at this time and that time," when I have caller I.D and was home the times you are saying you called, then they love to say this, "I have it wrote down here." LIE. I don't care what you wrote down to look good, you never called. Bottom Line is this. They will call and say, "We need the payment now before the end of the day", I'm like or? Or what? Your store is gonna sink into a huge hole? They try to make sound like it is life or death if a payment's a couple days late just to pay more money. Wait until they file something at the courthouse, then make the payment. So I guess I pay money and you pay.
Here's the thing. I've had 3 agreements with these lying mf from another location, and paid all 3 off on time, several years ago. So if they call put them on speaker and hit record on your phone cause its funny. Plus if they come out to your house just record it. They don't like being recorded at all. But if they are in the wrong, you need proof of that.
I like to make my payments online, cause it doesn't go thru right then. The workers at this store just piss me off. They shouldn't be allowed to just lie to people like they do. Really they will get the payment when you give it to them, if its a couple days late. Not even that. Lets say you can't pay the payment that month. But can catch up next month 2 payments. But the time they go to the courthouse file paperwork, then you get a court date it has already been paid. So you go to court with a receipt and say, "It's caught up, here you go." If you had to do that, you could. If they actually worked with people, it would be better for them.

We rented to own a fridge when our old one was about to go out. We got it for less than $20 for the first month due to a special they were having, where we got 4 weeks free. Being a disabled veteran, with a disabled child as well, my income is limited. We actually got behind one month (before we signed up for autopay, which I highly recommend), and when it came time to pay, we were considering having them pick it up and just going and spending $300 on a new fridge and be done with it. It was less than $250 to get caught up. I told the guy at the desk what my thought process was, so instead of having us go elsewhere, he dropped late fees for one month, and added the one month we were behind, onto the end of our lease to own term. So we didn't end having to drop almost $250, right then.
We got to the end of our lease last month (1/2018), the amount was more than our normal monthly payment, and needed to be paid in the store. When my husband went up there, they let him pay part of it, and that left us with a balance of $65.81 to pay it off the next month (yesterday 2/2018). They give you this cute little certificate saying you are now the proud be owner of (insert property you rented to own). We had such a good experience with them, that we were considering renting to own a washer/dryer set, or mattress.
We live in a small trailer, they didn't carry any stackable washer/dryer sets. So we started looking at their mattresses, with the help of the salesman. He asked what kind of mattress firmness we were looking for, and showed us all our options. We picked the memory foam one because, my husband is often woke up by me moving around at night, and we both have back problems. It was only $5/week ($20/month) more expensive, than the softest spring mattress they had. The best part is it's only an 8 month lease, and since we paid off our fridge yesterday, we got our first month free (doesn't change the cost of the total for ownership). So we'll own it in September, if we pay it out, or the 90 day same as cash price is only $730+taxes and fees.
IDK that we'll be able to pay it off in 90 days but, they still have the early purchase option. You can purchase your item(s) for 50% of the remaining cost, plus the purchase payment, taxes and fees, at any time! Yes, you could get things cheaper, if you just put aside the money you'd be paying in rental fees, for a few months, but you have to wait till you have all the money, to have the item you want, doing it that way! Everyone I've dealt with at this Rent-A-Center (Leland, NC) has been absolutely the best!
I've rented to own a stackable washer/dryer set from Aaron's (Carolina Beach Rd in Wilmington NC) and getting behind once, there was no sympathy, courtesy, or professionalism. They were rude and there was just no reasoning with them! Didn't matter that I was going to pay two months plus, late fees, reinstatement fee, etc. I told them they had to wait to pick it up because, I wasn't home. They never showed up the day they said they would. They rescheduled when I called, after being so hell bent on getting their stuff back. I've rented to own from just about every company out there, in the past, and never had as good an experience as I did with this Rent-A-Center! It's also my first time paying anything off. They were always so professional, and courteous, I'll be buying stuff for years to come, from them. After the bed, a living room set will be next on my wish list!

I went to rent a center to see the pricing on dryers, while there we decided to buy one and make payments to extend the coverage. We filled out paperwork with all of our information (name, address, SSN, phone numbers, etc) the manager then entered it into their system. We were told our dryer would be delivered between 12 and 2 the next day, well 12 came then 1 then 2 and we were still waiting and no one had contacted us. We called and they said they would check with their delivery guy and call back, an hour later we called again and the manager said he was around the corner.
Keep in mind this is 2 hours late and we have been waiting all day! He gets to our place 30 minutes later and drops it in our driveway! So we remove our old one and install the new one. Well it doesn't work! So we call the manager again and she answers with "Oh you guys again." I was furious at this point. I told her it doesn't work and we had to move and connect it and she says "ok so?" I informed her the dryer didn't work and she said "fine" and sent the delivery guy back to our house, which took another hour. He told us the clothes have to be wet to make the dryer work (completely incorrect) but we tried it anyways. It still didn't work. So he said he would take that one back and replace it with another one that night. Well he never came back the manager used the excuse that he was not the regular delivery boy.
We finally get a functioning dryer and get it set up. 2 months later we forgot to call and make a payment (just slipped our minds) and my aunt in law calls saying that the manager has called her asking for money! Then my best friend calls me and says the same thing! I could not believe it, I called the manager and asked why this was happening. She said that this never happened. I told her my best friend and aunt in law have never met the only reason they would both be saying this is if it happened and they were the 2 people I listed as references! She continued to deny it until I said we had a recording since they called my aunt in law 3 times and even left a message.
So I asked them to check our phone numbers on the account, well she somehow didn't even put our numbers on the account! They were some random numbers neither of us knew! And we had stood in front of her and written our information down! I was so appalled at this point I asked for her name and said I was calling corporate. The manager then said "go ahead they won't do anything." I called and she was right they did nothing!
After another phone call with this 'Manager' and she called me a child on speaker with a car full of people. She is the most unprofessional person I have ever come across. I even went in the store to sort this all out and just pay the dryer off to be done with her and she continued to call after! I filed a complaint but doubt anything will be done. Do not go here the manager is horrible. I heard her yelling at another customer when I was in there trying to sort this mess she made out. The savings they offer is not worth being harassed, charged fees for their mistakes, having family members called for money, being called a child, or being yelled at by their 'management'.

The initial delivery was a week late, I started being billed from the point I signed the contract, not the delivery date. The refrigerator that was delivered was lightly dented and scuffed up. The stove was missing the oven racks and they were never delivered. I paid the company almost $1200 for a dinette set worth no more than $600, with still another $1000 to go when the set was returned. And, while I did fall behind ONE PAYMENT, the company hounded, harangued, and berated me as if I owed some exorbitant amount, not $65. In short, your price to own are ridiculous, unless it is removed from the packaging directly, you can't be sure that you're getting new equipment. And the billing should start upon delivery, not before.
Your Return Team came tearing down my alley like I was a fugitive to cut me off. I can only assume that they thought I was fleeing the scene of my defaulted $65 payment, and wanted to ensure the safety of the general public. As I was emptying my trash, I had two burly men jump out of a vehicle to confront me and question my whereabouts and insist upon coming into my home. Although, they did eventually agree to come back at a later date.

My couch was delivered BROKEN. After waiting many weeks a service man came to repair. It was unsuccessful. A SECOND attempt was made, it too was unsuccessful. RAC sent it out to factory for repair and did not give me a loaner. 3 weeks later it was returned and it was still broken. Called RAC and they said NO FURTHER attempts will be made to repair it as it was paid off 90 days same as cash!!! Calls to corporate office went unreturned!! Today TV (pitch 4 months ago) broke, and again store said it is paid up, no repairs to be attempted by them. Moral, unless you pay weekly/monthly using their extortion interest rates you are out of luck on warranty if the product breaks!!

My Whirlpool washer stopped working in August 2017, and was taken for repairs on 8/31/2017. After numerous inquiries the washer was returned on 11/4/2017. While the manager was taking the washer downstairs it fell damaging the wall and the washer. Today 12/22/2017 I was told the only washer they have to replace my washer is an old one because Rent A Center no longer carried the make washer I currently have. I make all payments on my washer/dryer and only have 3 remaining payment. The wall is still to be repaired. I asked if I can repair it and send them the invoice and they are still waiting on word from the regional manager. From now on I will save and purchase my items in cash. I just want my washer repaired or replaced. I should not be expected to take any old washer, my washer was new and in great condition.

Went and rented a (65 inch) tv on 11/24/2017. Requested that it be in a box which it was. Put item in my wife's van for transport. Got it home and took it out of box and placed it on my bed to get it set for viewing. Then placed it in location for viewing, got it all hooked up, turned it on and noticed a big crack from the corner of the back LCD panel all the way down the screen so I put it back in the box. Then the next day took it back to RAC and took it inside and the mngr took it in the office, took it out of the box, checked it, then came out to the front register and said the crack looked like an impact hit. Pretty much saying I dropped it or I hit it with my fist. He then said they would have to send it off for service in KC.
So I waited a week, called them back and was told it was unfixable and they were out 800.00 dollars. Told me I would have to pay it. Told him he was nuts. I was renting this tv. I didn't own it. Then ask him if I was getting the 49.95 amount of money back on the tv. He said no that I lost the money. So this place seems to be crooked 'cause you get a tv for 800.00 and rent it to some sucker for 3614.09. Seems ridiculous to me. They're so greedy. As of Saturday the tv is still on my account. Was told can't be removed until the end of this month because it was on the Black Friday promotion. I would like my money back if possible. Some of us work hard for their money. But I'm sure not going to pay for something I never ever watched. Wish some agency could make them accountable for misleading people on the pricing and the products.
I am renting a dryer currently and like it but when I pay it off I would request that Rent-A-Center take my name off of the mailing list and lose my phone number 'cause I don't want no more of your overpriced crap. In the day people were professional and did business to please customer but this place is only worried about money don't get behind or have an emergency cause they don't care they will be coming to pick up your items. This establishment is a joke roping people off. I have lost count of how many tv's I have rented from them cause they all had something wrong with them. No quality products just used stuff that has been returned to them then rented to people then rerenting to people who don't know any better cause they can't afford to buy the item outright. They think we're all suckers. Well Rent-A-Center we're not. At least I'm not going to be.

I asked them to deliver it between 5 - 5:30 so Monday come. I'm patiently waiting and time is 5:54 so I called and asked. Said they running late so okay then. So it started with a corporate RAC and then shortly after changed to a "locally owned and operated" RAC. I never signed any new contracts, never gave them any problems until my couch broke 3 times in the same year. RAC says it looks like people have been jumping up and down on them. They used ply board to fix it first of all and told me he wouldn't fix them again.
I am paying a damage waiver fee. This repair is obviously a manufacture problem because 4 adults are not going to jump up and down on the couch. And a 25 lb 2 year old shouldnt be able to break a $2500 couch. I only went through RAC for the insurance purposes. Then my strapped down TV fell and broke (mention RAC has seen the set up and said nothing).
I called to report it and was told they only are responsible for manufacture defects. Okay? Well why do I pay a "Damage Waiver Fee"? So if it gets stolen? That's it? I even told him if they had it fixed I would be more than happy to pay for it and he said no that I had to continue paying for a broken TV and couch. (mention the 55in TV was well over $1000).
If I would have known RAC was so bad I would have just paid $300 in Walmart for a TV and got a couch that was worth it. The story continues to harassment. My SO and I share a phone as well as my cousin when he has my son. I work 50+ hours a week. I am not available during their work hours. They called my job and was asking for money. So the other day they caught me at my house and I told them they can take it. I dont care.
So the driver gets ahold of her boss and is being very ugly and unprofessional, with a disgusted look on her face. My other cousin went to go get the TV. It took a minute and she's asking several times again rude and ugly, "Are you going to get the TV" after we already told her. After that she goes to get in the RAC vehicle and is mumbling something under her breath, my cousin asked her what she said and she called him a "redneck piece of **".
My cousin replies with, "I'm proud to be a redneck". As I dont know what she said after that I was looking for the remote to the TV in my living room (they were outside) then I heard my cousin say, "No, you’re not welcome here, get!" and told her if she didnt go she would have the police called. She replied with, "Go ahead call them" and left the property without the couch but with the TV. YES the couch was outside. We moved it outside when I told them to come get them the first time. Regardless their opinion of us is irrelevant and none of that should have happened. They should have done their job and left. Not stand there and be rude and unprofessional.

I was once a customer of Rent-A-Center. A paying customer, who bragged about the personal service received... Until the day that they claimed I hadn't paid my rent. I'd paid over the phone, and my trust was such that I didn't get a confirmation number. BIG MISTAKE, BOYS AND GIRLS. Lesson One - Always, without fail, obtain and keep safe all receipts and confirmation numbers, and ensure any agreement modifications are IN WRITING. They began threatening me, and I stopped that by driving the thirty miles up to the store to pull up my debit card history that confirmed that they'd received their payment on time. I got no apology whatsoever for this. As time went on, my payments seemed to vary based upon the associate who took the payment. The general manager, a man reminiscent of Steve from the Jerry Springer show, was the only one I could trust to give me the proper amount.
Life happened, and I got behind. I called and spoke to the same general manager who professed a desire to work with me. Refer back to Lesson #1, section 2, about getting things in writing, because I didn't. For a short time, they did abide by our verbal agreement. I'll give them that. Then the salesperson who originally wrote our contract got promoted. This salesperson had expressed an interest in gaming, and as a result he had my cell number. As soon as he was promoted, he began using this knowledge to harass me about payment despite the agreement we had. LESSON TWO: The staff are not your friends. Ever. So don't give them additional information that they can later use to harass you further.
This gentleman (a euphemism I'll use for now; other words would be censored and unprofessional) began to insult my spouse and myself, threatening to personally throw us in jail for being deadbeats and all around horrible people... For being two weeks behind. Jail. For two weeks. Here's where we are probably in the wrong: we told him that if he came onto the property he'd be arrested for trespassing, and if he wanted the items he was welcome to take us to LESSON THREE: They can't throw you in jail. They can't call the cops and have them arrest you, or force you to give them their items back. Police are not debt collectors. They CAN, if corporate allows it, attempt to file criminal charges for theft of rental property, but corporate doesn't approve filing in the majority of cases.
They CAN take you to small claims court seeking a writ of replevin, which entitles them to bring a deputy out with the court order to search the area you habitually reside in for the property on the court order. They did take us to court, and we didn't make the hearing because I was laid up with a severe migraine that day. They called the afternoon of the court date asking us to schedule a pickup. I welcomed them to come with a deputy and a court order, informed them that the call was being recorded, and they hung up. The days went by. I kept expecting them to come out with a deputy. They never did. The day before Thanksgiving of 2016 came, and my spouse and I were at the local grocery store. As we walked in, the same employee who'd started this harassment stalked up to us and started yelling about how he was going to throw us in jail, that we didn't ever pay a dime, and over and over about us being criminals.
I was proud of myself - I told him only to get away from me before I felt forced to call the police for stalking and harassment. My spouse and I walked past him and he FOLLOWED us through the produce section, yelling his fool head off. I got an employee to get the store manager. The RAC employee was gone by the time the grocery store manager came, but he said he'd heard enough and that he'd throw the RAC employee out if he saw him. When we got home, I looked up the court case. RAC had won a default judgment for $100, not the replevin they'd tried to convince me they had.
They were planning to double dip. LESSON FOUR: Check your state laws regarding your rights in small claims courts concerning RTO transactions. Most states only allow recoupment of fair market value, not the hyperinflation that these companies charge. I AM NOT ADVOCATING NOT PAYING YOUR BILLS. One should meet obligations. That goes for companies, too. Don't let yourself get screwed over. Don't let them threaten you.

I just paid her a few days before, well it has been 2 weeks and 2 days, so yes I'm late but I've been in hospital and can't pay yet. There is no talking to her. First you cannot get a word in as she is rude and threatening but also honestly her accent is so thick I cannot understand anything in my machine except have me arrested. If I had the means I would get furniture elsewhere but I just l lost everything. Having to move because the place we rented before was overtaken with roaches that we paid to try to exterminate as the owners really didn't care about anything but rent, wouldn't fix anything, only got worse as house next door that was abandoned was torn down.
I always catch up on late payment, been late a few times, I'm trying and tell her I will pay next week, but she just tells me I'm going to jail. Don't know what to do. Tired of it but needed to have a bed and couch as I can barely move so I'm at a loss. The threats of arrest scares me. I have never been in any trouble in my life. I felt admit I'm behind on my payment, but when she calls every single week and I pay every 2 weeks, I'm not behind, even then she threatens me, I and my family have saved every single recording... Although she talks so fast and with thick accent, you can clearly make out the that's at the end and sadly that's about all you can make it. I plan on paying as soon as my husband gets paid, also according to my receipts the amount she now claims I owe from my last payment don't add up, suddenly I owe more than I did a month ago? This makes no sense.
Threatening people instead of listening is a sad way to do business. She says she doesn't care if I'm in the hospital, doesn't care that because of me being there for many weeks my husband lost his job so he could stay be my side. When is it okay to treat customers the way we are treated? That survey you ask me to fill out, will I recommend rent a center to family and friends... NO NEVER IN MILLION YEARS WOULD I WANT ANYONE TO GO THROUGH WHAT I'M GOING THROUGH, it was bad enough losing everything, now the constant threats... It's too much, just too much!!!

I was at 3 other stores earlier that day including Aaron's and they were very pushy and the way I was greeted by Shane was awesome and had a great smile, dressed very well. He was very knowledgeable and showed me what I was looking for and price. The one thing I did see he did call and talk with my boss and my landlord right there and my mom in Wyoming even know I brought proof of my job and where I lived. I asked why, Shane explained that to finish the process before I could leave with it he had to make sure all was verified in case needed updated numbers he could get in touch with. After all was ready to go we sat down talked about extra benefits and coverages of the items they offered which was awesome. He explained the payments and went over my paydays made payment went thru paperwork and left happy.
But when I got home it was close to 730 and I could not get my computer online. I called and explained I just bought it. Asked for Shane, he said the store just closed but was almost finished up and asked when would be ok to stop by and get it going. I asked if tonight would be ok on his way home to get it going. He stopped by and got it working. Showed me how to hooked it up correctly for future use. He left me his card and said if there was anything else I needed the store would be opening tomorrow at 10am. RAC Acceptance NOW is an organization that is extremely crooked and to put it honestly they are thieves. What are the laws that protect stupid customers, such as myself? We purchased a washer and dryer set and a television from our local furniture store with a RAC Acceptance NOW company inside. We have continued to pay on the items thinking we would pay it off early. Well here we are 2.5 years later and 3900.00 paid. We have requested that we be paid off as we have now paid 3 times what the merchandise is worth, 3 times what it would cost if we were to walk in to a store and pay for the exact same items brand new today. We have priced the exact washer and dryer set and television, actually a better one, and the price would be $1200.00 to 1300.00, give or take sales tax. What can we do? We feel like we have paid our dues to this company who is unwilling to help us.
The washer and dryer now do not work like they did when we first purchased them, as a matter of fact the washer has caused rips and tears in some of our towels. The television's picture quality comes and goes as well. All the company has said is they can send the television out to see if it needs repairs, leaving us without one and they also said they could possibly send someone out to check on the washer and dryer. All we want to know is, is there a cap on Rent-A-Center items and is there a 'reasonable' cost for such items? Paying 5,000 dollars is ridiculous and we understand that but do we have an argument? Thank you.

Folks, please read and review all of this review prior to using "Rent-A-Center" better known as "Rip-Off-Center". "Rent-A-Center" is all nice and welcoming at first but become late paying them you will regret you ever entered a business relationship with them. Last year I suffered 2 surgeries and it cost me a significant amount of money even after my health insurance policies paid their share. When I came from the hospital and the rehab centers I had to take a long absence from work (3 months) as I was unable to go back to my office to work. My company informed me take as long as you need and return to work when you are all better and I was relieved to hear that.
During the time I was hospitalized my bills got behind and my credit took a big hit and I did have a very good credit score before I became sick. But after not paying my monthly bills on time for months my credit score got so low I could not buy a bicycle or a postage stamp on time so there was no way I could finance anything on time. I really wanted to get a new computer and a new 4K HDTV however I did not have the resources to purchase them. I had a family gathering at my house as many relatives, friends and family came over to see me and see how I was doing.
During conversation one of my friends had mentioned he was in the same type of situation before and he found out how he could purchase items like TV's, furniture and all types of monthly items on time and it did not matter how good or bad your credit was. I said to him, "Are you serious? Where may I ask did you do this?" He replied, "Rent-A-Center" as they are the best and all I had to do was fill out an application, show my driver’s license, make the first monthly payment on what I wanted to buy and provide 3 verifiable references with phone numbers and addresses and I had all my stuff in a few days". It sounded really good and this was for sure something for me in my current situation, however I should have never listened to what I call him now, "A Walking-Talking Rectum" as he was so full of crap... that his eyes were brown.
I went online to "Rent-A-Center" and everything he said checked out and I completed the application and I was approved for a new computer, new 65 inch 4K HDTV and the TV stand to go with it for $186.99 a month for 18 months and after I pay everything for the full 18 months everything I own. A few hours later someone from "Rent-A-Center" called me and asked me what time can I come down to the store to complete everything and I told him tomorrow afternoon. He said fine and we will see you then. I went down the next day and signed and completed everything and 2 days later they delivered and set up everything for me and they seemed like really nice people to do business with and I was glad. For the first 6 months I paid my monthly payments on time without any problems or issues however the next month I forgot and overlooked the monthly payment to them and I simply forgot and did not realize I was late on the payment.
One night about 6:00 pm I hear someone banging on my front door so loud I thought someone was hitting it with a baseball bat and I opened the door and there is the 400 pound guy standing there with a clipboard and his "Rent-A-Center" shirt on and I asked, "What do you want and who might you be and if you did any damage to my door you will paying for it you got it...?" He says to me, "I am from Rent-A-Center and you are late on your monthly payment and I am here to take all your items back". I replied, "I am sorry however I forgot to make the payment and don't you people believe in making a phone call to the customer first to inform them that their monthly payment is overdue...?" He replied, "Sometimes we do and sometimes we don't, however I need to take back all your items immediately".
I replied, "Well I got news for you as you are not taking anything back and if you do not leave and get off my property you are going to be very sorry...!" He replied, "You need to give me all your items now or I will have to come into your house and take them all myself". I replied, "You go right ahead and attempt that as I want you to do that...!" He replied, "No problem as after I leave here I am going to contact law enforcement and file charges against you". I replied, "Go right ahead and I will wait for them to arrive" and he replied, "Sure thing and have a good night and as well go ** yourself...".
I immediately called the store and demanded to speak to the manager and he came on and I explained the situation and he said, "Yes our guy was there to pick up all your items as you are late on your monthly payment and if you do not surrender the items we will file charges against you". I was so angry, mad and upset I told him, "You know what have someone come out tomorrow afternoon and take all your items back as I would never do any type of business with you or your lousy outfit ever again...".
The next day some other guy came and I told him at the door, "Listen and listen up good you got 5 minutes to take your items out of my house and get off my property and not a second more...!". He knew I was serious and within 5 minutes he took everything and got in his van and was going down the street. I called the store and asked for the manager and when I got him on the phone I said, "You got all your items back and your ** will suck wind for the rest of the payments on all those items and if you or anyone else from your company every comes here again or on my property I will call law enforcement and press charges of trespassing on my private property...! And I hung up.
The next day I contacted my State Attorney General’s office and I filed multiple complaints against "Rip-Off-Center" and I am waiting to hear back from them on it. As I stated from the beginning of this review DO NOT USE OR CONDUCT ANY BUSINESS WITH "Rent-A-Center" as if your monthly payment gets behind they will try to "** you 6 ways from Sunday" any way they can. To add here I know a few other people who have rented from another lousy outfit called "Aaron's" and they are no better than "Rent-A-Center" as all they told me was nightmare stories as well. Best of luck to all of you out there...!

So, here's a complaint on the Rent-A-Center in Fruitland, MD. I'm usually not one to complain (my husband and I have been renting a couch set from this Rent-A-Center for months, no issue), but the experience we had today was pretty awful. First of all, Rent-A-Center was supposed to be dropping off a TV stand for us between 12 pm- 2 pm. They called at 2 pm to say that they would be late. Okay, that's fine. So, I put my dog in his kennel (he doesn't like strangers in the house until he gets to "greet" them, but I didn't want him to get in their way while they tried to deliver our TV stand). My dog is a very vocal dog, but wouldn't hurt a fly. He barks, but doesn't growl. He doesn't like to be kenneled when people come over, but the only fix for that is letting him greet the people coming in- which again, I didn't want him to get in their way, so I kenneled him to avoid all of that.
Fast forward to when Rent-A-Center (finally) showed up. Store Associate Ronald was the one helping me fill sign my papers. He continuously asked, "Is your dog put up?" I responded that yes, he was put up. He was secure, in his kennel, and all he could do was bark. Then, Ronald seemed to think it was okay for him and his associate to repeatedly state that he "sounds vicious." Excuse me, but in what world is it okay to say such a thing in your customer's presence? My dog is NOT vicious. He was barking because he wanted to come out and be in their way while they delivered the TV stand. That's how my dog is. He wants to be in the middle of everything.
Then, Ronald seemed to think it was appropriate to ask me if my apartment was cheap to rent. What kind of question is that? Had he and his co-worker not called my dog "vicious," I may have been able to look past that fact. But the entire ordeal was unprofessional. To top it all off, the TV stand (which is used- again, totally fine- I knew that beforehand) was incredibly dirty on the bottom shelf. It looked like some kind of wax had melted over it. Again, it's used- I don't expect perfection. But maybe wipe your used items down before delivering them? All in all, horrible experience.

They're so bad it's not funny because they started with the harassing phone calls on Saturday morning (payment ain't even due yet) before I even had chance to get out of bed and they kept it up all freaking day. Took up my whole machine so I waited till the end of the night and make the payment. We have rented from rent a center quite a bit. Few glitches here and there. But when the big issue came up to fix some faulty furniture they have done nothing but give us the runaround. 3 months waiting to have a faulty bed frame fixed and faulty dining chairs. We have paid it in full and have continued the parts plus service to have the items covered. They never give you the same answer twice. We ordered the parts. They will be in on Thursday. Wait and wait and surprise. 10 days after that still not in. Meanwhile I have an entire bed frame/headboard and footboard sitting against my bedroom wall. I have small children. It is not a safe solution rack to leave this like this. When someone gets hurt will you cover that? Probably not. Can't get you to cover the stuff and service I pay for. Never again!! Worry free?? Not for the customer anyways.

I have been dealing with these folks for nearly two years and have mostly been pretty flawless. As of May 2017, I experienced an unexpected career change. This messed up my payment schedule for a couple of weeks and, honestly, money was tight. My mother and I agreed to go half in on some furniture that was needed for our living room. My mom stopped giving me money and made my situation worse. But, I still managed to make payments. I fell behind by a week and agreed to pay on SATURDAY because those are my due dates. I told the man (Jay) on the phone I would be in on Saturday - even had him read the info back to me. I hung up thinking it had been squared away.
Friday rolls around and I get four calls (no voicemails) from an unknown number - something I brought to the manager's attention with no resolution. (Don't call me from an unknown number and expect a response. You won't get it.) I called them, realizing this may have been them and I'm accused of making another late payment. I politely explained I would be in on Saturday as scheduled. Store manager says, "Nope, you're due today." I explained AGAIN that my payments are always due Saturday. He shoots back with, "Well, then you're seven days late. Six days late is better for us." Miss me with that, I don't really care what's better for YOU, considering I'm the one who had to make the arrangement.
He eventually gave in and moved the date to Saturday like it should have been all along, but he proceeds to grill me on my pay schedule (which was explained to him three times.) I understand they want their money, but the fact I've been a loyal customer almost two years apparently has no impact on them. This is my first time EVER being late and I honor my commitments.

I rented a 49 inch TV from RAC. First... They didn't deliver it in the day they said they would, called me 4 days later to reschedule. Then I get the TV, and miss one day and they're calling and threatening to take the TV AFTER ONE DAY. So I make my payment. Next month rolls around. THE DAY of my payment they tell me if I don't immediately pay over the phone they're coming to get it. I find out they charged my card TWO times, which I went ahead and said okay, it'll keep me paid up. So all of a sudden they start calling me again, I told them to come pick the TV up. When they were here trying to get the TV, they would stay for about an hour just yelling and banging on the door.

The Rent A Center on Glenwood in Raleigh NC has to be the worst yet. I never will go back there nor refer anyone to them. Have been a loyal customer for some time now. Even went back... But after today I will never ever go to them again. This was my first time being late. Was going to pay this payment as well as late fee as well as the next payment to keep me on track because I'm almost done paying my furniture off. When I explained to them my situation they had no remorse.
Mind you I have been a very loyal customer for some time now. They gave me no option other than picking the furniture up until a payment was made. So I then told them to keep it because you can clearly see no matter how long you been a customer with them or if you made every payment on time... They don't Care about anything... But that's water under the bridge now. I know to go to Aarons the next time I want to rent anything or just buy it right then and there because this all was very uncalled for and my money nor business will never be a Rent A Center again. Do NOT GO THERE. MANAGER NAME IS LEO.

So I figure it's a Samsung phone, I'll call the manufacturer, they'll walk me through resetting it. So I do that. Samsung workers tell me that they don't make that phone; say they have never heard of it. Now why would Rent-A-Center be selling knockoff smartphones with the Samsung brand on it and think no one would know? Another thing, it's funny how they have no problem taking your hard earned dollars but when it's their fault they think a store credit will do justice. Not cool.

They will be to my home by 4:15 p.m. I said okay. Next, 4:15 p.m came still no show. I called them again and Tray answered the phone and told me that he had to go and find some boats from Home Depot and they will be to my home by 5:15 p.m, which they close at 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays. So final 5:15 p.m. comes Rent-A-Center still hadn't showed up. I called them one final time and they tell me they have to find the truck they will be to my home by 5:40 p.m. So 5:40 p.m. comes still no Rent-A-Center has showed up.
I called them one more time and they tell me they are loading up the truck now and are on their way to our house so 6:00 comes, 7:00 comes no Rent-A-Center so I get in my car and drive to Rent-A-Center on Veterans Blvd. and the ** are closed. I would recommend no one no dealing with Rent-A-Centers especially in Dublin, GA. Yes I am pissed off bad because no one gets my money and don't give me what I have paid for. It doesn't work that way. I am going to call them Monday morning May 1, 2017 and tell them they have 3 choices. Bring me my damn bed, give me my money back, or I will take a civil action out on them. The people at this Rent-A-Center is full of **. If I hadn't made a payment they would have been to my house.
This was the 2nd time I had deal with them. I first started shopping at Rent-A-Center in August 2016. From that time I got items that I needed for my apartment. Well first a tv. I had a great experience, but then I started getting stuff for my apartment that we actually needed like a bedroom set and a couch so we can have people over. Well my paydays were every other week, which started adding up to a lot. They told me that they can bundle things where you will be paying longer, but it will be in a comfortable price range. So it dropped from 576 to 320 every 2 weeks.
Well recent I went in there and there was a new manager, very rude by the way, didn't care, about anything just likes taking your money. He's met me before from the other manager, and was nice before but this time very disrespectful. He told me that the other manager will no longer be working here and I have to pay the 576. I looked at him and told him "y'all fitted a plan that will work with me and now you don't want to work with me." Then he said the person working on my account was a sketchy person and I told him that "if that was going on behind the scenes then y'all should of been watching. You don't take it out on the customers."
Well I had them pick up our bedroom set and living room set and then 3 days ago I told them I didn't want the tv because I should be pay 240 for a tv and a PS4 every 2 weeks when I still owe 2500 on the tv and 788 on the PS4. I'm frustrated, because the way they treated me and on top of that said it was my fault. The customer is always right and if you've never worked with me before don't blame me because I've always paid my stuff on time. So they never came to get the tv like they said. It's been 2 days now and if something happens to it it's their fault not mine cause they still haven't came for it.

Also in the meantime we found that the wheel was broke on the washer that they had brought me which was used and not just the real but the whole bracket that holds it on. Well that was another trip so now that we're having an issue now they tell me that they are not going to service this item and that they would refund my first month's rent if I return it. Get them to pick it up by the 3rd.
However the list that I sign says that I had 30 months of payments and that they are responsible for all service related matters and yet now they're not going to honor their contract. My soon to be ex-husband choose to rent a T.V. from this particular Rent-A-Center, and after about a year or so we are going thru a divorce and he lives about 4 hours away and took that t.v. with him. I did not sign any loan documents for this t.v. so I am not a co-buyer. I guess my husband has not made a payment on it in 2 months. Well they keep coming to my house and I understand because this is the last address that was on the loan documents.
So Yesterday I was at an appt. and 2 delivery drivers at my door beating, not knocking, but beating my door for an hour according to my neighbor. They were beating on my door so hard that she could hear it in her house across the street. I had a crack in my door about 3 ft. long when I moved in but after yesterday the door split along that crack. I call them and told them again that my husband does not live here and I am going to press charges for property damage and the manager told me that my ex still lives there and they seen him leaving that morning and that was not true because he had not been in this house for over a month and the car they described is my car. Then he proceeded to argue with me and threaten to bring the police over to get his merchandise, so he pretty much called me a liar and told me he was watching my house and he does not cared if 2 men were at my door beating on it like they were trying to come in to hurt somebody.
Then he lied and said that I was a co-buyer on the contract (not True) and I need to give him his stuff back. So I waited for them to return with the police as he promised and nobody showed up. I called the police department to see what I can do about my door, and I was told that I could not press charges for the door because it already was cracked and it would be pretty hard to prove that they damaged the door. These people are not even smart enough to know that you could receive business by word of mouth and I will be sure to tell anybody who will listen to not purchase anything from rent a center on E. Galbraith rd. Cincinnati, Ohio and because they made such a big production yesterday at my house I am sure that word would be spread by them too. I am a master at arms in the US Navy and have just returned from Bahrain. When I made it home my wife had a recording of a conversation she had with a manager at the Rent-A-Center in Saratoga Springs NY. After listening to this recording I almost couldn't believe what I was hearing. The manager of this store (Jason) was more disrespectful to her than I have ever experienced or heard of someone experiencing from the employee of any company. This attitude was over her wanting to pay for 2 weeks when we owed 3. Not only was he demeaning he even raised his voice at her more than once over the 30 dollars that she stated she would pay the following week.
She proceeded to contact customer support who told her not to worry about it and that a general manager would be getting in touch with her the following Monday to work it out. When she called Jason back he told her he does not negotiate and claimed that she was lying to him and they could call him and tell him themselves. And proceeded raise his voice once more and tell her that she should know what her bills are. He then told her that he didn't care if she had a ticket number from customer care he was going to take the television. I have no problem with this company taking their television, that was part of the agreement but there is no reason to show the kind of disrespect that this man showed my wife.
It is a great feeling knowing that while I am in a terrorist filled anti American place like Bahrain serving our country so that people like Jason can stay here in the comfort of their own homes without having to worry, people like Jason back home are treating our spouses and families like trash. Not sure who reads these reviews or what comes from it, but this particular employee has made my experience with Rent-A-Center top notch before I've even received my appliances.

Customer service began to gradually get HORRIBLE from the store manager calling me asking me "Are you ready to get caught up on your bills" to an sales associate telling me she can't discuss with me why bill is gradually getting higher. I can say that I am supervisor of a call center and NO way would I handle my customers the way that Rent A Center handled me and probably handle their customers! I will NEVER advise anyone to go through Rent A Center to get furniture or anything else!!! Rent-A-Center had my wife's phone number because I work in a location I cannot have my phone on me. Every time I couldn't get to make a payment before they closed (on the 1st of the Month, every month because I was paying monthly), They would call and leave very pushy messages on my wife's voice mail. I was done with these attempts at intimidation. Even the employee there when I rented the dang couch said he was happy I was back because I actually paid them. I was a bit late here and there but not nearly enough for them to be leaving unkind messages.
So I decided I am done with them! I went out, bought a couch, and with a U-haul I rented I drove THEIR couch back to THEM. One employee working there was great, the other one a rather large male with an attitude came back, I thought to help, but no he was on his lunch break. I explained that I'm a wounded veteran so I wasn't going to lift the couch, and I heard him making some comments in the background. I asked, "so are you the guy who tries to be hard ass on voice mails?" He said "well pay your ** on time!" I explained that I always paid. Maybe it was late but this last one the employee I talked to was supposed to take my payment to the first of the month. He told me I was good to the first, so really I was two days early. He called me a liar and said out of 400 customers I'm the only one they have ever told that to so I'm full of **.
So I called him some choice names back. He ended with "** you very much. Have a nice day." My wife just then pulled around and asked how it was going. I said "not very well. This jackass just told me '** you very much have a nice day!'" and then I turn around and he's in my face. I said a few more choice words about how I was thrilled to not have to deal with people like him anymore and he told me not to "bow up on him". I didn't back away so he shouted "don't put your hands on me" and shoved me, My elbow hitting the back of my U-haul truck. Unfortunately I also have PTSD. I snapped and got very angry. Luckily my wife was there, got in front of me, and kept me from doing anything I would regret. I thank God she was there but as soon as she told the guy to please let it go I have PTSD he got more aggressive calling me names, her names and threatening me.
I got in the truck, pulled around the front of the store, walked in, and calmly asked the employee at the counter who is the manager for that shift, for the store manager's name, that employee's name, and the store number. He told me I was the aggressor and walked into the back of the store, not to be seen again. Another employee was up front and he gave me the names and store number. My wife was able to talk to corporate to let them know how unhappy I am with with just happened.

The lady proceeds to tell me that no, that's not going to work. I explained I was sorry I've made and arrangement and she had no choice. She proceeds to yell at me and I just hung up. She proceeds to call my husbands phone and when I answered she hung up on me, so I returned the call and she hangs up on me again!
A few moments later the store manager calls and starts screaming and using profanity that I don't dictate when I am and am not going to make a payment. A few weeks ago, they showed up and I was backing out of my driveway they blocked me in, and wouldn't let me leave. I am not on my husbands account in any way! They have no right to detain me or hold me against my will, they also don't have a right to threaten him, nor I, with legal action. They've also shoved my door open on several occasions, when I walk off to obtain money for them, I have small children who can escape and quite frankly, it's my right to close my front door whenever I'd please. I've gone to corporate level and yet nothing has been done! I'm sick and tired of the "loan sharks" because that's how they act, threatening me, harassing me and now vandalizing my property! I'm at a complete loss as to what to do, but I'm over it! I sincerely feel threatened by them. Their customer service is a joke! Something needs to be done about it. So, when you're poor Rent-A-Center's there to help. Or so I THOUGHT!
I got my phone which was EXPENSIVE for a store like that, not thinking I got the phone and was happy for a bit until I looked the phone up online and saw I was being bamboozled at Rent-A-Center the phone I had which was rent to own. However, I looked the phones up online. The phone, brand, phone provider, all that stuff. "I" saw the SAME phone being sold on legit sites and from companies for less that $300. Same everything as what mine was. I nearly dropped.
Needless to say THAT phone went back in a hurry and I got the SAME phone for less not on eBay or any foolish site. Research your stuff before taking the Rent-A-Center plunge. The manager 'Rachel' in the Louisburg NC (North Carolina) store, was nice and friendly. SOME employees were nice as well, but some were very rude. I decided to get a laptop and TV. Well, Rachel tells me, the only laptops they have in the WHOLE store, are the ones on display. So, I was forced to get the store laptop. After getting it home my brother and I were looking at it. (By the way he works on computers and has his A+ certification.) It turns out that on their website it shows the same laptop but better spec. False Advertising, much?! So, not only did I get the display computer, but got robbed in the process.
That's not the worst of it all. I was looking to get a 30" to 40" Tv. Nothing TOO BIG! But, I wanted a smart TV. As I am looking, one of the employees walks up and says..."You want a smart tv? Well we only make them in 15" and 50"." I myself am not familiar with smart TV. So I got the 50", later I found out they make smart tvs in all sizes. So, they tell me after 3 hours of paper work, that they would deliver the tv. I sorta figured they would since it was a 50" and all. So, sometimes between 5-6 (they close at 6) they delivered the tv. Mind you I am at work when they do this.
This is where ** gets real. First they leave my TV on my bed. Do not think about setting it up or anything. Then when I get home, at 2 in the morning I have to set up, plug it up, all that. As soon as I turn the tv on and start watching a movie, I notice these black lines running along the middle and side of the screen. At first I thought it was dirt. But after cleaning the screen I found out it was not dirt. So, the next I called the store and talked to Rachel. I told her what was going on with the tv, and she told me to 'text her pictures of the the screen'. And I did. She was nice about it. She said they would send out a loaner until mine was fixed. Come to find out, they told me that the black lines came from where the delivery guy put the cord over the side and the power brick rubbed across the screen.
Okay, no problem this past Monday they delivered the loaner. Right after they left the tv, I had to leave for work. So, I had no time to go and look at the tv. When I got home I went and started plugging up the cable and all that (because the second delivery guy told me he didn't plug it up.) When I turned it on, the screen was cracked. I called my uncle in to look at the screen and he agreed that the screen was cracked and broken. The next morning I called them AGAIN, and this time I was talking to a guy. This guy was VERY rude. I told him that they delivered my tv and when I got home and turned it on the screen was cracked. He went on and very rudely said he was my delivery guy, and he would be out there that day or the next to see the tv. THAT THEY WERE SHORT STAFFED RIGHT NOW! He made that VERY clear.
I waited four days and nothing... no call, or anything. So, Friday evening I called and Rachel picked up the phone. I told her the same that I told the guy. And she became very rude to me. Her personality did a 360 from the first two times I had talked to her and then she asked had they sent a loaner out. I told her yes, that that's would I was calling about that the loaner was messed up. And, that the guy I spoke to was very rude. I could hear the guy in the background yelling about me and what I told him.
She went on to say 'the guy that delivered the tv turned it on before they left and it was not cracked.' I know for a fact that they were not telling the truth, the guys never turned it on. She went on to tell me they would not send another tv out. I would have to wait until my tv came back from the shop. So, I still have to pay for something I am getting no pleasure out of. That's my story. I just hope it helps those in the Franklin County NC area, to decide if they should rent from them.

I am a day late on a $14.88 payment on a portable washer. The sales associate at the Levittown PA branch walked into my place of business and began belittling me in front of customers and my Boss... screaming that they will not put up with this and will be out tomorrow to pick up the washer... if no one is home she will come back. I am afraid to lose my job if the woman returns to my place of employment again in the future for a late payment.

Rent - A - Center on 1027 Beach 20th, Far-Rock-away, N.Y. 11691. This store has nothing good going for all the workers including managers are very rude and unprofessional. They all need to work in the basement away from customer are people that are alive. The delivery guys are no better. They are always late and do not know how to put up the items you rent or buy and there were always missing pieces which we had to call to get. My bunk bed fall, taken my son to the bottom of it. Thank God my grandson was not on it or my son was not hurt. Come to find out there were screws missing that held it up so it will not fall. I remember once the bank made a mistake on one of my payments and they came to take the bed. Mind you I have not missing a payment before and I only had two more to go before it was mine's. Hey after that I just pay them off.
I call back about the missing screws, we would have put them in for we did not trust their unskilled delivery men anymore (where do they find these workers on the street for they know nothing about their products or what they are doing) and was told after being put on hold for about thirty (30) minutes they were unable to do anything for me for my account was too old and it was only six (6) months later, that's after they found out no one was hurt because of their negligent. Thank God again this did not happen so be aware of this for next time someone could get kill. I will never buy or rent from Rent-A-Center again. Very poor service and rude workers. The company is just going to lose money for their workers are not even decent or courteous to its customers. Frustrated Buyer.

I called and the acting area manager stated the same thing and both verified it took three minutes for both of them to count the drawer. I am so angry at the dishonesty of their employees. This is not my first problem with Shawn yet they continue to let them work here. Now my family and I are out the money and no help.

This is my second review for the lake Elsinore store. It's horrible. It's like to get a job there. One of the qualifications is you have to be rude to customers. My first review got me a call back from the district manager and he was really nice and respectful and I thought the problem was going to get fixed. He said that he would get our washer fixed for us for free which was really cool but they never came and picked it up and now he won't answer his calls anyway so she calls us back and yells at us at customer for going higher above her.
They are rude at that store. They don't care about their customers at all so now we went in there and paid our washer off. We don't have to deal with them anymore. Thank God. I just want to let everyone know how that store works when we went in there. I asked about her calling and yelling at us and yeah I was rude. I'm tired of this place but she just Sat in her office with a big smile on her face just thought people should see how rent a center is and how they treat people. It's not okay.

He wouldn't tell me how much I owed them. And then wanted to schedule a pick up of my stuff. I would have paid it if they would have told me how much I owed them. But since the guy I talked to refused to. I hung up. THEN they called my work, which was very unprofessional. And then they went to a house where I don't even live: and harassed the people that do live there. (I do know who the people are). Regardless, My laptop ran slow, even with high speed internet. Seriously the RUDEST PEOPLE I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTER IN A PROFESSIONAL BUSINESS. I will NEVER recommend you guys to ANYBODY! EVER.

Well we pay our bill every month and this past month we got behind a payment. Well now we're behind two payments and if I talked to a manager would they work with us because I don't see why I should put my account on a freeze and have them come take my bed if I am able to pay my overdue balance and my soon to be new balance in two weeks so they would take the bed back for two weeks and then have to bring it back to me in two weeks. Why can't they just make a deal and we will pay our overall balance on the 24th and then be caught up. Please if anybody knows anything that could help me that'd be nice cause they wanna come get my bed tomorrow and we're only two payments behind and I got a bad back and have nothing else to sleep on.

The most worsening experience people I have ever dealt with here in Longview Tx the loop 281 store. Change due dates from Saturday to Wednesday and then say, "You owe late fees." Just sad. Pay off everything ever gotten from rent a center but this store well the people in the store here is the worst I ever seen. Paid off washer and it breaks down. Call them, they come pick it up to fix it - never seen it again. Ask for my washer and NO one know what I'm talking about because everyone is new in the store. Now they ask me to work with them because they're new. Ok put my due date back on Saturday. Give me back the washer I paid for and I'm good. My payment went from $160 to $130 to $94.60 but now that they change my due date it's 110.94 because they say it's late charges but it's not due until Saturday. I just wish that someone could help me out and find out what's going on.

I have already purchased two different items with Rent-A-Center the one located in Sw 67th in Miami. With that store I can honestly it was great. Staff was nice, NEVER disrespectful or too rude. However, I moved homes and now live in NW Miami and I decided to get new couches, which may I add are the most uncomfortable couches I have ever sat on. Apart from that being said I am a single mother with 3 children and work six days a week. My schedule is very hectic, I cannot answer my phone at work, due to cameras all over our office. The issue is that I fell behind 2 weeks on my payment and they were always calling, leaving threatening messages about filing charges against me for theft. Do they think no one has a life or would really risk catching a theft charge over a piece of ** couch.
Being a customer already who has already purchased two items from them that they were paid off which I mentioned that to the manager when he called me and I was able to return his call and his response was "we are different offices so I cannot see if you have or have not purchased anything with us." However that is not what upsets me the most. What does is their disgusting attitude when talking to you and their slick remarks. I apologize that you hate your job and you are miserable for working for the company you work for but your customers shouldn't have to pay for that. I have actually never left a review anywhere. I am not that type of person. However they decided to send someone to my house, obviously no one was home because I was working. So happens to be that my neighbor was outside at that moment and who they sent decides to tell him "Tell Priscilla that next I am calling the police on her for theft."
When my neighbor told me that I froze in shock that now my neighbors would think of me as a thief. I work in a medical office and I am well aware of patient privacy. Do these people not have some sort of customer privacy or at least some sort of respect. I mean Jesus, he could have just wrote it on a paper and slid it under my door. For the record this is in the store located on 79th NW and 27th avenue.

My experience with the San Diego Store located off of Euclid and Federal, has been a complete disaster. I rented a TV from this store over a year ago and in the process the whole store was replaced with a brand new staff, which was when all of my problems started. I called a few months back and asked for my payoff balance. I was told the payoff was $398. I then made a $300 payment and confirmed that the new payoff balance was $98. I called back 3 weeks later and everyone was new. I spoke with Robert and request to make my regular $46 payment which should have left me with a $52 balance. Robert advised me that my balance was $326. I told him that was completely impossible and tried explaining to him that I had just made a $300 payment. He insisted that the $326 was my balance so I asked to speak to the Store Manager and he advised he was gone.
I called back a few minutes later and the Store Manager Oscar answered the phone. I stated to him I was told he was not there and Oscar replied stating ("well I do get a break you know"). After dealing with that rude comment I wanted to know what was going on with my balance. He stated to me the balance was $114, due to me being late, Which I was fine with, and advised me that his employees are new and doesn't know how to work the system so it's not their fault that they didn't give me the correct amount. To make an even longer story short, I contact the store to make my next payment two weeks later, and again, was told the incorrect amount, so I decided to request to always speak with Oscar since he was the only one who somewhat knew the system. He was always rude so I asked if I could make the payments at another store and he advised I could not.
After I made my payment I was told my new balance was $23 as long as I made the payment by 05/23/16. I called Friday 05/27/16 and of course was told I owe $205. I request to speak to Oscar who was not there, called back Saturday and Adrian, who also advised me my balance was $205, stated Oscar was not there. I was forced to wait until Tuesday 05/31/2016, and Robert told me Oscar was on another call, and he would have him call me back. When Oscar finally called me back, instead of saying hello and introducing himself, he said "who is this?" I told him and asked him to just give me my balance owed so I could be done with the unprofessionalism. He told me my balance was $64. I was completed upset by this point because he would not explain to me how my balance went from $23 to $64. I knew there would be a slight late fee but come on this is ridiculous.
He kept telling me he would hang up in my face. He was talking over me being so rude and unprofessional and again told me his staff was new. The same excuse he has been giving me for 3 months now. At this point I am waiting for the Director Jason to contact me in hopes that he can help my nightmare come to an end. I will never ever in life rent from this company again thanks to Oscar, and plan to take this situation up as high as possible.

I wanted my payments to drop on my payroll date so I notified the store to come and pick up the items until I can get on track with my payments. I made an appointment for pick up at 10 am, and I was outside waiting on the driver. They never showed nor did they leave a notice that they came on my door. I don't have a vehicle to drop the items at the store and they weren't lenient with that. So the manager at the store told me they have been at my house twice but I only received one notice on my door which was a day I clearly told them I would be at work that day. He said legal action will be taken if they don't get their property. The manager was clearly not trying to work with my situation at all. I feel that it was purposely done to take the money I put towards my belongings and just come repo the items. I feel like I've been got. The manager was a real ** about everything.
Then, I was told since I was late on my payment past seven days, in order to get my belongings back I will have to make a monthly payment? The whole reason I wanted them to pick up the items is so that I can be on track with my payment. They delayed the pickup and obviously came to my house on days that they knew I wasn't home.
