I had the worse experience with Rent-A-Center. First of all they false advertise by saying you can pay $10 for the first week which wasn't true. Still had to pay more money before I can pick up my item which wasn't told to me before I filled everything out and paid but that wasn't the biggest problem!!!! I called the store that the agent online told me to call where he put the order and the manager (well he told me he was the manager and turned out he wasn't) told me he was gonna send me everything on my email to fill out and they would have my item ready to be picked up today. (Mind you I live in Texas and was trying to get a generator before the big storm just in case the lights got knocked out).

After they verified everything so I called back today and the actual manager told me that their store wasn't in my area so I had to go through the store that was closest to me. (Mind you the online agent had my address and put my order to that store). So I called the store close to me just for them to tell me they were out of generators. They got rid of the last ones the day before. Really!!!! I was so mad. Wasted 2 whole day because of their screw up and so now I stayed stuck without a generator (hopefully the light don't go out). I wouldn't recommend Rent-A-Center to anyone. So unorganized!!!! Very unsatisfied.

I would never rent anything from Rent-A-Center over on Staples Road in Frankfort, Kentucky, they are a bunch of thugs that came and got a PlayStation for me and gave it back to them and had one of the employees to threaten my life. I'm going to file charges against this man for doing that. And I'm getting hold of customer support, I'm going to have him fired and I'm going to have him arresting, I will make sure he loses his job, and I'm going to make sure the rental manager loses his job because he knew about it and didn't do anything about it

This is my third purchase with Rent A Center. From Ric and Carol Ann to the delivery drivers, they were all exceptional. They understand my finances and always put me below my price range to help me out. They are patient, kind and extremely helpful and understanding. The drivers went through a lot today with a muddy backyard and a couple other unforeseen issues and they just smiled through it, and never got frustrated. I can not say enough good things about all of them. I was surprised to see negative reviews and it reminds me of how easy it is to only post negative experiences. Please give them a chance. They are worth it. Thank you rent a center for helping me again. I will be back

I have been a reliable Rent-A-Center customer with a strong payment history and a record of fulfilling agreements early. My experience with the Linden Avenue location demonstrated repeated failures in professionalism, transparency, and delivery accountability. After submitting a service request under the Benefits Plus/Liability Damage Waiver protection plan, I was assured more than once that any repair or replacement would continue under my original payoff terms. Instead, I was presented with a new agreement totaling $1,064.84 without proper disclosure or explanation. This was nearly seven times the remaining balance of $153 that I was prepared to pay to complete ownership.

Throughout this process, it felt as though store-level management expected a direct phone call and an emotional response that could be used as leverage, rather than focusing on resolving the issue transparently. I made a deliberate choice to avoid phone-based confrontation and instead escalated through formal channels to protect my peace and ensure accountability through proper documentation.

When delivery issues first arose, including delayed follow-through and inaccurate claims about voicemail outreach, I handled the situation appropriately and professionally by relying on written complaints and formal escalation rather than engaging emotionally. It became clear that the store and district leadership expected me to respond emotionally when frustrated, but that is not how I operate, nor is it how I am trained to resolve matters. I am a human being, but I am not conditioned or trained to respond to business disputes emotionally. My approach has always been to address issues through proper channels, remain factual, maintain professionalism, and seek resolution based on the terms of the contract — nothing more, nothing less.

A key example of the breakdown in store execution occurred when a replacement delivery was scheduled for my 65-inch LG television. When a representative arrived to perform what was described as a “re-delivery” or swap, the individual did not knock, announce arrival, or follow basic delivery procedure. Had I not checked the door on my own, I would not have known they were there. That moment reinforced my lack of confidence in this store’s operational standards and communication integrity.

Corporate eventually intervened, corrected the agreement to reflect the accurate payoff balance of $153, scheduled a dryer replacement through a neutral manager from another location, and issued a formal apology. I appreciate the correction, but it should not have required escalation outside the store to enforce transparency and service fulfillment.

My only objective has ever been reasonable: to complete ownership of the items I pay for under the original contract terms, with the expectation that merchandise functions properly and agreements are honored without misinformation, deflection, or personal excuses. I originally intended to continue doing business and invest significantly more into additional products. This experience eroded my confidence in the Linden Avenue location. I will now explore alternative providers for future purchases.

I strongly encourage Rent-A-Center corporate leadership, compliance, and customer advocacy teams to enforce continued improvements in agreement disclosure, delivery professionalism, contract integrity, and service accountability so that no other customer experiences the same breakdown in communication or improper agreement handling.

I have never been so mistreated in my life. I WILL NOT allow any Rent A Center employee in my home. If they are from my local store they are forbidden from entering. I have been threatened with physical violence, I have been threatened to have all my stuff be taken out of my home and repo'd by the store just because I was a day late on a payment that should have been changed at the date of the contract to the 1st, and they haven't.

The local store in Bartlesville is rotten. I was threatened by both Kenny and Dustin, and because of them, I will not allow any rent a center employee in my home, I won't have to worry about deliveries because I am going back to Conn's in Tulsa, Oklahoma because I was treated fair, I was treated like a disabled vet and not trash on the side of the road. I am done with this store, I cannot tell you in words how upset I am. I spent my Thanksgiving away from my family, going into panic attacks at my house because how horribly I had been treated. Please look up all the calls on this local store, I swear you will find something, this is a rotten corrupt store.

So I called from the parking lot and was told "He would get back to you again" and then I said, "I’m busy as well. Can you give me a time you call so I can look forward to that call at that time?" He sounded frustrated. Is it OK Tuesday nor did he give me a time? Not the kind of customer service I expected..

Rent-A-Center provides a convenient solution for customers who need immediate access to furniture, electronics, and appliances without making a full upfront payment. Their rental-purchase agreements are straightforward, and the flexibility of weekly or monthly payment options is helpful for individuals managing tighter budgets. The delivery and setup services are typically efficient, and many locations offer responsive in-store support.

However, potential customers should be aware that the total cost of ownership can be significantly higher than traditional retail pricing if items are rented for the full term. While Rent-A-Center’s model offers accessibility and short-term convenience, it may not always be the most cost-effective option for long-term use. Overall, Rent-A-Center is a practical choice for those who value flexibility and immediate access to household essentials, but consumers should carefully review the terms to ensure they understand the long-term financial commitment.

Buyer Beware! Completely unreliable. Staffing issues - always and rude employees. Left plenty of time (3 weeks) for an order as I use their sofas in my staging business. They cancelled on me the day of delivery during the window of delivery - not before claiming everyone on staff was either sick or injured and they couldn’t deliver my sofa until Thursday. We had a professional photography shoot on Wednesday at 10:00 am. They said I could come pick up the sofa myself. Manager was rude and short with me — extremely unprofessional.

I cancelled my order and scrambled to find a sofa Monday afternoon. Which I did. Will NOT use them again. It’s interesting as they have undergone excessive turnover - former manager Tim retired but every time I am there the employees are always dealing with issues (most likely created by themselves). And people aren’t trained to do their jobs. That should have been my first clue! I would definitely stay away from this company.

I have not received a call yet and Being the excellent customer I am, I should not have to track anyone down. The loveseat has been paid off for a while and it’s ripped and pulling apart on the seams. I called to find out how much more time was left on my warranty but never got an answer. We rented a laptop from this Rent-A-Center and were late on a payment. Instead of handling it professionally, they sent a truck with a worker who banged on our door, refused to leave, and harassed us at home, even after we clearly said we would make the payment the same day. The behavior was aggressive and unacceptable. When we called the store, the manager, Omar, refused to take responsibility and allowed the worker to continue harassing us. They would not even provide the worker’s name. We had to warn that we’d escalate things before they finally backed off. No customer—especially one who intends to pay—should ever be treated this way. Bound group is the mother of Rent-A-Center. I wouldn’t advise it do not mess with them. I went to court today and now still got a fail in another court for this other stuff. I have audio video and everything of them contradicting itself even to the internal general. The paperwork you signed it’s not the paperwork that they sent out to their insurance people or whoever they sent it to and you asked for a copy of your rental agreement. They won’t produce it. They say they sent it off. They don’t have it at the store because they switch your paperwork up. That’s why, but I’ll keep you posted.

I’m not done yet like I said I’m going to the court too. I’m going down tomorrow to file on that too for bound group Inc. the mother of Rent-A-Center and their lawyer is a joke. If you got rental insurance is way better than Rent-A-Center insurance. If something happened to your product on your end it’s not like Apple or any other company like that that has insurance to cover everything. It covers things. No stars should be an option. Wouldn’t recommend Thomasville location. Their website will give you your approval amount but they don’t go by that. What’s it there for if they are going to pick and choose what they want and don’t want to rent to someone. We had a washer and dryer set, Lee picked it up August 20th and told us he had another set at the store he could bring that was a little cheaper and still have yet to see it. Currently September 22nd. Story keeps changing. Not sure of the other lady or man’s name but when you call the store they are extremely rude and if they say they will call you back or she will get Lee to call back because he stepped out, don’t count on it. No one that works there is ever on the same page with each other, they’re all going to give you a different story because they don’t know how to communicate with each other undoubtedly.

If you have furniture/items from a different company they will also judge you and not let you rent anything from them. Reason I say that is September 22nd they were supposed to deliver a washer and dryer set between 1-3 pm, we were told that Saturday September 20th when we made the first payment. Today comes and I call Rent A Center and the lady answers and said that Lee stopped by and he knocked but no one came to the door. My husband calls Lee and Lee says that he never stopped by the house, he sat at a corner and watched another company that we have items from knock and no one came to the door. That’s understandable, I have 5 little kids 6 and under if I’m in the back of the house I’m not gonna hear the door. Until he kept talking.

Lee proceeds to talk with the other company and the other company proceeds to tell him they can’t disclose private information about customers. They undoubtedly didn’t like that answer so they proceed to call the other companies credit department and question them about our account with them, again they tell them they can’t disclose private information about a customer.

My husband then calls Lee and Lee tells my husband to call the store and talk with Melanie to arrange a time to pick it up from the store because he’s no longer in town and on the way to a conference. So I proceed to call the store, Melanie was no longer there, she had left for the day. So I talk to someone else, I didn’t catch his name. I tell him that my husband has talked to Lee and Lee told us to call and arrange with Melanie a time to pick it up from the store and asked if I could pick it up Wednesday since my husband would be off that day. And he says we came by today and knocked but no one answered, I say well my husband talked to Lee and Lee said y’all didn’t stop y’all sat at a corner and watched another company knock and no one come to the door.

Then the whole story changes. He starts asking about the other company and asks do we have furniture/items from them and says that we can’t get anything from them until we take care of that and show them proof of it when they don’t even know the reason they were here because the other company didn’t disclose anything. I ask him then why couldn’t they tell us this Saturday the 20th when we made a payment to get the washer and dryer, now we have to wait on a refund from them. I tell him everyone we talk to that works there has a different story and it’s like ya’ll don’t communicate with each other.

He proceeds to say well what I’m telling you right now is the actual story. But if you fall behind on a payment and they have to come to your house they’ll beat on your door like the police, ring the door bell if you have one consistently back to back and call your phone repeatedly all while being out front. But they want to preach that they understand things come up and they’ll work with anyone no matter what to get back on track. My advice would be to take your business elsewhere.
