We started filling out paperwork at the end of August and we closed second week in October. In the beginning, everything was great. They explained everything really well as to breaking down what our payments would be and what part was gonna be going towards the home loan itself and an escrow as well. But they could have been a little bit better in communicating. We were working with someone named Hope first and then it was Brittany. I would call Brittany's extension and leave a voicemail and then hear nothing back. I did that a few times and sent an email and still got nothing. I then ended up trying to call Hope as well. I was told it was put to someone named Monica over in some other department. It was a lot of back and forth. But overall, the process was pretty easy and the way that they have everything laid out.

The home buying process through Vanderbilt was fairly good. It’s in Louisiana, and due to the fact that we put our trailer on a rural area, we didn’t qualify for the money for the closing. So, we had to come out-of-pocket. Also, we didn’t know about the initial extra cost to put your pole down and your electric because we're like on a 2.3 acres of land and it's a part of Baton Rouge that’s in a rural area, but East Baton Rouge is covered. But it’s Louisiana that you’ve got so many problems that you got to deal with. They wanna force you to sub-divide your property. Then you have problems with your permit because the house was delivered during the pandemic. It came from the manufacturer with the code for Louisiana. We have to get an address.

Now, the address, we want to just use half cause it’s already a trailer on the 2.3 acres, but they wouldn’t let us do it. They still shipped the trailer from that to that original address, and then they had go to the East Baton Rouge to get permits and stuff that you need. The rep didn’t tell us about these. We just went back up there until they got the other guy, James, who used to work in the legal part for Vanderbilt. All he was concerned about was as long as he got his commission. Everything else was good. The application process was fairly smooth.

All around, I've had a pretty good experience with Vanderbilt. They were very upfront and forward about everything from the start. Vanderbilt was great to work through. I did appreciate that part of the home buying process, because it was a lot easier because of them. Natasha was the rep I worked with. She was always helping me out in every way that she possibly could. She was always really good with me. She did a great job. Vanderbilt is a great company to go through, and I can't wait to be able to go through. The number one thing that I did like about Vanderbilt was the insurance. The insurance through them at my house is always gonna be worth what I paid for it.

Steve was my initial contact and he was amazing. He kept calling back with different suggestions. Anytime there was an opportunity to adjust the rate, he offered me those adjustments. Vanderbilt offered the best interest rates. Then there was another young lady who worked directly under Steve and she was phenomenal. She reached out to me after work hours, and I was so apologetic for her having to work those long hours. She definitely was helpful and very pleasant. The process went smoothly and didn't take long at all. From the phone calls to the emails, everything was good. Vanderbilt was very informative and forthcoming with information. I'd call him and asked him anything, he would call me in 30 minutes. He messaged me left and right. I also never had a problem getting in contact with anybody. I don't even recollect nobody ever having to tell me, "Let me check on that ‘cause I don't know. Let me call you back.” They always had the answer there for me. Working with them had changed my life tremendously. I would have never thought I would be buying a home at this time in my life. I was planning on being going round and round the world by now. They made it plain and simple and made me feel so special.

We've been in the army for 20 years and we've never owned our own home because we’ve moved around every three to four years. Coming home for us meant that we finally got to own something that belonged to us. And we went into this with extremely low expectations because we have heard horror stories about purchases and especially on a mobile home or a modular home. This is our first home purchase. and we didn't know what to do and how to do it and we didn't understand a lot of the terms. We've bought vehicles 100 times over the years, but as far as the home loan, they are very, very different.

Working with Vanderbilt was literally the easiest part of the home buying process. It was extremely effortless and there was a two to three-day turnaround. We didn't have any issues with them. We spoke to a couple of different people from Vanderbilt and we were constantly in the loop. The communication was great. Even if it wasn't actual phone time, we received emails and correspondence. They went above and beyond to help us get what we needed and I did a lot of email and scanning of documents.

I actually had tons of questions prior to the actual approval. My biggest concern was the down payment. It took us a little bit of time to come up with that down payment because it was pretty hefty. And one of the reps, Ashley, went over literally everything with me to make sure that I understood the timeline and how everything broke down. She answered questions that she probably wouldn't have under normal circumstances. She was giving us different scenarios and she told us we have 120 days to get the down payment in and it didn't take us that long. She was constantly, "Just don't stress. It's okay. We're gonna work with you if something happens and it's not in on time, we can revamp things. It's not gonna be that big of an issue."

She always called me back, which is a big thing for me. We get that a lot when you're trying to do business with somebody and you call and we realize that everybody's busy. And at the time a lot of people were working from home and she didn't hesitate to always get back to us. We also received documents in the mail and they outlined everything for us. So it was a pretty great experience.

We actually recommended Vanderbilt to somebody else. They absolutely loved our home. And they were talking about building and we said, “Look, the process itself was super easy. We filled out the application online. Somebody touched base with us that same afternoon. Two days later, we had an approval and an approval amount. And then it took another a couple of days before we found out what our actual down payment was.” My sister said, "Wow. That's pretty impressive. It took us several months to get an approval just to have a home put on our land."

Vanderbilt Mortgage made that possible for me and I'm very grateful. Their application process was super easy. It was self-explanatory. From the time I applied till the time I got a conditional approval, it was only four days, which wasn't very long at all. It was very last minute when I was informed that I needed a B-seal inspection, but other than that, I didn't have any issue. Ashley had the best customer service skills out of everybody I talked to. She's very helpful. Every time I had a question, she always knew the answer right away. She seems to really care about me and my family and getting us into a house. I don't see that a lot.

The representatives informed me of all the rules through each part of the contract. They made sure that I understood everything before we went forward. I had two simple questions and they answered them right there. They were very informative, friendly, nice and positive. They also made sure to inform me of all the little things. There was something we were not allowed to keep and I'm glad they made sure that we knew that. I thought we would get to keep it, but it was something they take with them.

It was very easy to deal with Dwayne and the mortgage guy (Brian). They were able to answer all my questions and point me to the people that I needed to speak with and get things accomplished. It took minutes to fill out the application, but the underwriting took a while. I used my own land and there were some issues with the property that I had to take care of, but once I got my issues squared away, it was within weeks from closing that out. Keeping me apprised of what was going on could be improved though. They could've let me know if things weren't clear on the deed and that would hold up the time for the underwriters.

Dwayne was really helpful. Lee, who stepped in and helped me once it got into that phase, was really helpful too. Lee dealt with the deed part of the land in the whole process, so his part was following up with the underwriters and making sure that they got all the information they needed in order to do their part when the land is involved.

I feel very comfortable with Vanderbilt. When I first applied, I was anxious to try to get things going. After dealing with everyone and going through it, I'm surprised it's done and I'm in the house. I'm very satisfied. I've got other land that I'm gonna look for rental properties, and I'm looking to go back through this whole process again with Dwayne in a few years.

We started at the end of February and closed at the beginning of September. We ended up having to redo the application but it wasn't on Vanderbilt's side. In fact, they were great. They were able to transfer all of our information on the old application to the new application and get us closed. Things were a little complicated in the beginning. My husband is a pastor and the way that his income is shown on his taxes is very different than a standard employee. There wasn't a whole lot of understanding in dealing with that so we ended up having to go to the upper management through Vanderbilt. The guy was able to help us and we ended up having to amend our taxes. We went from a self-employed status to a W2 employee because there wasn't any way to read his taxes without doing that. That was the part that made the process take so long.

It was definitely a good experience as far as communication goes. On a scale of 1 to 5, it's a 4 out of 5. I wasn't always able to get ahold of who I needed to speak with but they would always call me back in a reasonable manner. If I needed to know something right then, they would always transfer me to someone else in that department who could help me with it and they were definitely really accommodating. We had a unique situation that doesn't normally happen with a lot of people and they were really good to make sure that the right people were contacted to be able to work it out for us.

I ended up having two reps. The first was Laura then we were transferred to Todd. Both did a great job. Laura was super helpful on the front side of things and in getting everything transferred over for us. She was understanding of the situation and the reason that we needed to get transferred over. She made that process really quick and smooth. When it came to having to transfer things over, she was able to get in that old application and I didn't feel wronged or I had done anything bad for wanting to transfer my application over. On the backside of things, they were able to take care of everything that we needed and as far as the transparency goes, they were really good in communicating exactly where we were in the process. I wasn't left in the dark about anything.

Doing business with Vanderbilt was easy. They were always available and willing to talk. The main thing that I would hope for improvement for the next family that comes through is just do some research as far as the different occupations that are out there and the way that taxes are handled for different occupations, not just the standard W2 employee. Vanderbilt could also set some systems in place to make it easier for people who are either self-employed or have a unique position that isn't even necessarily self-employed.

Between getting everything ready and figuring out and working with everybody, the whole process took about four months. The application and the underwriting process took a long time. I filed the papers in February and I didn't sign the mortgage until July 7th. Vanderbilt had stipulations. I had to pay off certain things, which had I known that it was holding things up, I would’ve paid them faster, but they didn't say that to me. They told me to take my time. Then they ran my credit check three different times like I reapplied to them three times. It was crazy. But once it all came together at the end, everything went pretty quickly. Then it wasn't the same person that I dealt with every time and that bothered me a little because I wanna call and talk to this person. But with this whole COVID thing, and they were all working out of the office, I figured it I probably messed everything up pretty good. It's a great idea that their insurance company covers all these things that most insurance companies won't cover as far as owning our mobile type home. That's a plus.

They got us a better deal than what we were really expecting as far as our down payment and our monthly payments. We were just totally pleased.

The rep was wonderful. She answered all my questions. She was available any and every time that I needed to talk to her. Sending documents, we did it through email. It was just perfect. They praised me because I have gotten everything done, which usually takes about five weeks, in about two weeks. The transparency was great, ‘cause we have some messed up credit. Income-wise, we knew that we were gonna make it. But this is our first time home, so we've never bought one before. So, getting them to help us understand every step of the way was great. Once we applied, at first the down payment was 11,000. We were like, “Oh, okay.” But then when they finally came through, the down payment was 2,000 cheaper. We were told we had two options to choose from. The other company wanted to have the land with the loan while Vanderbilt gave an option where you didn't have to have your land with it. The loan process with Vanderbilt was okay. But we had to call them a lot throughout the month and get information. It started in January. Sometimes it was a little aggravating because we had to constantly figure out why something wasn't going through and why somebody needed the information. Instead of them calling each other all the time or emailing each other, we had to end up calling and getting stuff figured out. They would contact each other sometimes though.

I had to send paperwork a couple of times which kinda sucked and there were a couple of times where I had play phone tag with them. Also, they told me that it was gonna be 90 days before my first payment would be due from the time they would give me the keys to my house. But that was not really the case. Other than that, everything else was quick and smooth and easy.

Vanderbilt Mortgage said that due to some things that had changed, there were a lot of questions being asked. I didn't know what kind of new laws had been put in place that caused Vanderbilt to had gone through as much as they had to. They went as far as they had to know where I was putting my trailer so they would know if it was in a flood zone. It was not in a flood zone but they had to get all the information, which was frustrating to me because I never had to do all that before. I purchased a mobile home for the last eight years and this was the first time that we had to jump through as many hoops to be able to purchase a home. But they got everything taken care of. It was just extremely long and tedious to get all the I’s dotted and the T's crossed. Overall, I’m fairly pleased with the experience.

The only thing was we had a glitch at the end, but they worked with me to get it straight. I was a 1099 employee and they approved everything. Then when it was time to go to closing, I came back and said that the income wasn't correct. So we had to make some other adjustments. But they helped me with that. They took care of the problem on their end who made the mistake.

My loan processor was Allie and she was wonderful. She was honest with me from day one with everything. She would return my phone calls or emails fairly promptly and she was always in a good mood. She would always be nice. My credit is not that great. Also, my wife filed for bankruptcy four years ago. So with our income, our credit situation and with what we were wanting, Vanderbilt Mortgage gave ve us a fair deal. The application took about 20 minutes. It wasn't very long. The only thing that really took so long was because we couldn't make up our mind which house we wanted. Now we've already got our house and it's already set up, for the most part.

We went over a little bit more than what we wanted to spend per month but in the long run, it would not be as bad as we thought. I was also including the lot rent, but we had talked to my wife's parents and wound up putting it on their property. Now, we won’t have a lot rent so the little bit more we have on our house payment isn't that hard. If we would have the lot rent, I probably wouldn't have taken it.

When we first talked to the rep from Vanderbilt, she said that she was busy and every time we called, she couldn't pick up the phone. But for the most part, she’d call us back in a timely manner. Also, Todd was really good, and Abbie was the one lady that we talked to quite often and she was the one that would call us back most of the time. They did a good enough job. Now we're wanting to set up our house payment every two weeks but I don't know who I need to contact. But they did say that we could just call than they could point us in the right direction. For the most part, we had a great experience with Vanderbilt Mortgage.

I filled out the Vanderbilt application and my boyfriend sent it to them. The guy wasn’t there that Friday but I brought the paperwork up there. One of the ladies who was like the receptionist made a copy and put it on his desk. Two weeks later, the guy from Tennessee was like, “I need this.” I told him that it has been up on the other guy's desk for the past two weeks. I didn't know why that guy had not faxed it to him. I told him that if my boyfriend was not happy then I was not happy. They would need something from him but they would call me every time. Every time my boyfriend would try to call, he could never get the guy that we were going through on the phone.

They had my boyfriend's number and if they needed something from him, they should have called him because I told them that if they could not get a hold of him, they should just leave a message and he would call them back. He would know exactly what they were talking about. If they need something from a specific person on the application, they should call them. When my boyfriend calls, he should be able to get ahold of them instead of them calling me instead.

The loan officer we had was great. I had no problems with this person as well as the guy in Tennessee. The one I had a problem with, however, was the one in Sumter. It was a whole communication thing. It was pretty much a failure in communication, especially when it came to my boyfriend. The guy wanted to give us a gift card for $2,500 to get our stove, fridge, washer, and dryer. We said, “No, we can’t. There’s nothing at Lowe’s that’s in stock.” The stove and the fridge each cost $1000 each, not to mention the washer and dryer are at least $500 each, if not more. I bought all these appliances before. $2500 was not gonna cover it.

Also, we were not told that we could customize certain things in our house. The guy that came out and fixed a few things that were wrong was like, “They don't tell you this, but…” We were gonna replace probably our dining room and our front room with ceiling fans with the light in it. That same guy came out here and fixed the front door that was crooked. You had to pull really tight to get it to click then there’s a big old gap at the top so if it rains, the rain would come in. One of our windows was broken and a few other things. That guy was the one that told us that we could have just had the few customizations that we would have liked before we signed the paperwork.

From the first day we went up there to the day we saw on the closing paperwork, the process was between 30 days and 45 days. Overall, I’m happy with the Tennessee office and pretty much everyone, except for the Sumter office. But the communication could have been a little bit better. Also, we can do the payment but it's a little high. Other than those, I would definitely recommend them. The overall quality is pretty good. There are just the little things here and there that we noticed, but it's not a big deal. My boyfriend does construction so he can see it pretty much before anyone else can.

Vanderbilt worked really well to get our own home insurance with the company we liked added into that. It was a really smooth transition.

The rep he was really helpful as far as getting everything together and communicating what they needed on their end. He was the one who was able to work in our home insurance and he did that no problem. He got in contact with who we had our house insurance through and worked that out. It went pretty smoothly and we didn't have to do anything.

Getting ahold of each other was really easy. If I was at work and I couldn't get to my phone, they'd typically contact my wife. They were in communication with both of us. We also had direct contact with the person that was overseeing our loan. And usually, if we called, couldn't get through and left a voicemail, they'd call that same day. I was looking at homes and when I decided what house I wanted to try to purchase, I was told what loan companies the builder worked with. And they recommended that I go with Vanderbilt, so I went with them. Everything took a good while to get finalized because my husband works with a lot of different companies, so it was taking them a really long time to get in touch with his employers. I told them that when the contract is up and he’s finished in the plant, he gets laid off then just waits for the next job. I was trying to explain to them the kind of work he does and they needed stuff explaining the gap period.

Also, there was one girl named Wendy who was kinda working on our stuff but she wouldn’t contact me about anything and it would be a week or longer before I ever heard from her. She asked me if there was any way I could get in touch with his employers, which would help out a lot, so my husband and I were trying to call whoever we could think of. He was trying to get numbers from everybody and we were calling and trying to hassle people into whatever we needed so Vanderbilt could get what they needed.

When I would call Wendy, I would leave messages and she wouldn’t return my calls. And I would email her but she wouldn’t email me back. When she did, it was just to say, "Hello. I still can’t get in touch with anyone, but I’m working on it”. So, I was really aggravated and I felt like I wasn’t in the loop, but I was doing everything that she asked me to do. If Wendy felt like she couldn't get in touch with anybody, she should’ve asked for a little more help or given it to somebody else earlier. And when I asked her if she could give the case over to someone else, it sounded like she was really upset that I asked that. She was kinda rude about it but she turned it over to her supervisor. Once it was switched over to her supervisor, they got in touch with everybody they needed to get in touch with and it was done.

I called Vanderbilt to ask for a one month deferral because the corona virus has caused my renter to lose his job. Travis the account rep I got was snarky and just very unhelpful... I asked for a supervisor and got Maria who proceeded to "explain the process " to me, however I never asked her to explain it! I simply wanted to file a complaint against a snarky rep. Then she refused to even apologize to me for the way he made feel! She said, I need to listen to the call first!!! REALLY? The first lesson in customer service is to apologize that ANYONE in your company made me feel the way they did! Why does she need to listen to the recording to apologize for the way I was made to feel? This is what is wrong with America today, I am basically paying to be mistreated and made to feel substandard b/c I asked for a one month deferral during this crisis!

The rep from Vanderbilt with whom I worked was a sweet lady who helped us out a lot. I went with them for a refinance on a home that I've been in for 20 years and I got an interest rate that I'm pretty comfortable with. However, I got a check for $700 with someone else's name on it and it's not gonna do me any good. My house is all my money and that person never paid anything on my house. Vanderbilt wanted me to send the check back to them with a note saying that the other person no longer wanted to be on the account because of escrow. I still have the check with me. I don't understand what Vanderbilt is saying and they said they didn't know if they could write me out another check. If they can't, I would like for the amount to go to the new loan. I don’t wanna lose it. I’d rather for it to go to good use. Despite this issue, Vanderbilt has been very good. When I call them, their reps try to answer my questions and look up the answers for me.

Vanderbilt was great. We didn’t have a whole lot to do with them. They were pretty much on top of things. It was just emails and stuff. Getting those permits made the process go a little bit longer.

Vanderbilt had us sign our paperwork with a woman who did notary, and she was an absolute idiot. She wasn’t prepared, and didn’t know how to use the internet to get on for us to sign the document. I actually had to help her get on the internet to get into the DocuSign. We started the process with Vanderbilt in December and we closed in February. I bought a few houses through Vanderbilt. I'm an independent contractor. It's usually hard to buy when you do that, but they were absolutely amazing. They were communicative. They didn't make me feel like the little guy. They're first name basis. If I text them, they text me back. If I call them, they call me back. They were very connected with the whole process. I was impressed. I did this process on my own so when you're a little guy and you're with a big corporation and you're trying to submit documents and talk to people about the interest rate, sometimes, you feel a little overwhelmed, but every one of them were helpful.

At this point right now, I'm having a few issues and I'm not really getting any results. They're not big issues but I like to see the aftercare just a little bit better. I still have a lockbox on my door that needs to come off. Somebody needs to remove that. I've made a few calls. I've also had a couple cracks in the sheetrock. But other than that, there was nothing major. 21st Mortgage is their sister company, and even though they're the same company owned by the same people, 21st doesn't respond very well. They're slow. Their information and pricing are incorrect. You get to a lot, it's one price and online, it's another price.

When I didn't have my account number, I just gave my name to whoever answered the phone and they pulled me up. Then they can help me with any question that I have. I don't actually have to talk to the person I talked to before because everybody was trained and I like that.

Other than that though, it was fast and easy. All the personnel were really helping. They told me all the information that they needed from me and I sent it to them. My wife and I purchased a new Clayton single wide mobile home in the summer of 2009. They first required a minimum of $10,000 down -- we paid $15,000 -- and started making monthly payments before the home was installed on the destination lot. We've paid on time, without fail for a decade, despite the constant increases in the mortgage payment due to Vanderbilt's annual Variable Rate Mortgage changes.

2019 was an absolutely awful year for our family. Both of us were laid off and both of us have dealt with medical emergencies. We managed to stay afloat through 2019 but we finally reached the end of our assets and resources as of January 2020. Both of us have tried speaking with Vanderbilt Loan Servicing, but get nothing but the runaround.

Vanderbilt's automated system boasts that if you've hit financial troubles they'll supposedly offer to help with temporary deferments and loan restructuring but they refused to do any of that. They told us to go look for social service programs to pay our rent for us (very few such programs exist, and even fewer understand the concept of having both a mortgage AND lot rent). From the first week we were past due on our bill they've been calling our phone weekly (sometimes daily) and spamming our e-mail inbox with reminders to pay and threats of foreclosure.

Now a second month behind, they've offered to give us a whopping $250 if we vacate the trailer -- but with so many stipulations there's no way they'd ever actually pay it (no damage to the walls including mounting holes? ALL original appliances? must be immediately move-in ready?). Meanwhile, as the retention officer was making that offer on the phone, they had already sent out foreclosure notices, which I was just notified will be delivered by Friday 2/15/20. Predatory, uncaring, disloyal company. They have no problems taking all your money but the minute you need help or compassion they leave you out to dry. Financing anything through them has been the biggest regret of my life.

The process from the beginning of signing the papers to them doing everything they had to do took a month and a half. We did the home loan process through the holidays and Vanderbilt was being right there on Christmas and New Year’s Eve. They did an awesome job. I worked with whoever was available and they were very friendly. They were great. They go the extra mile to try to get that loan for you.

I really like Vanderbilt Mortgage. My mother and I were getting a mobile home and were told that we were going through Vanderbilt Mortgage. The first call from them was great. They stayed in touch with us while in the loan process. They were polite and answered all our questions. And when we called them, they made sure that we got our answer. They might’ve put us on hold to talk to someone, but they helped us. At first, we had one rep but she couldn’t be with us anymore. Then we had another one. I also talked to some guy. All of them were professional. There was a lot I didn’t understand, but they helped me. If I didn’t understand something, they broke it down for me to understand.

When we first started, they went by my mother’s and my income. They gave us the numbers and how much to come down with. We were gonna use repo mobile home for the down payment and then $4,000 to go with the repo. They said yes at first, but a couple of weeks later, the numbers changed. About every two weeks, somebody called me and said that the numbers changed. Then it went up more money, then they called me back. It changed five times.

I thought that we would never get the mobile home because we didn't have $11,000. Also, our first payment is in the first week of March. I had talked to someone about a month ago and the lady said they were gonna mail us something about where to go and what to put on the money order, but I have not received anything. I was satisfied with everything else though.

The application process was easy and we worked with our home builder. If we had questions, we asked our home builder and they asked Vanderbilt for us -- it was easy. I only got communication with Vanderbilt when they called after we closed.

The only thing that I had an issue with Vanderbilt was the separation in my insurance and taxes. It wasn’t clear in the paperwork what my insurance name was, how much was going to my insurance, and how much was going to my taxes. It was a combined total. But the part, when we were going over and signing all the paperwork, was pretty easy. If I didn’t sign the paperwork at that time, then it would have been put off for another who knows how long. So, it was kinda one of those things where like, “Do it now because the prices do match.” But just the clarification on what part of that is going to where when it comes to the escrow. Other than that, they went over everything and were really kind.

After I got approved, I kinda backed out because I didn't want to spend that kind of money. But about two months later, we decided we would just go ahead and do it and Vanderbilt has done really well. Everything kinda worked out like it needed to be and everything happened in the right timeframe. I work out of town, so they worked it around my schedule. And when I call, they pretty much answered and done what I needed to do. I had a specific point of contact and she was nice. I'm pleased.

Vanderbilt Mortgage tried to help me as much they could. Getting through to someone was pretty easy. If I called the wrong number, they'd give me the 800-number and they would switch me to who I needed to talk to. Allie was really great. She usually called at least two times a week.

Everyone I spoke with was great. They continue to update me on a constant basis of what was going on and if there were any issues, changes, or anything like that. They get ahold of me by phone and emails but I prefer talking. I do business on work for emails and with my personal business, I like to do on a person-to-person basis.

The application and underwriting took 45 minutes or less. Vanderbilt made closing this loan convenient for me. When we had to sit down with the power of attorney and all of that, they made it convenient for my schedule. Most of the time, my interaction with their reps is pretty short, to the point, then secure information that doesn't gobble up all of your time and confuse you. It's all like in laymen’s terms and it was easy to understand. I knew exactly what I was getting into. There wasn’t a lot of big words and a lot of small fine-print stuff that they didn’t know what they were talking about. It was all very descriptive. Also, they were very prompt.

From previous experiences I’ve had with other loans, whether it’s a car, home, motorcycle, or camper, my experience with Vanderbilt went really smooth, quick, and easy and there was not a lot of confusion and hidden costs. Everything was pretty much, “It’s gonna be this, this, and this and this.” Or “Add this up and that’s what it is.” And that’s how everything came out.

The rep was really nice. They did scare me a little bit. They called me to do a welcome call and then that recording comes on that says, “This is an attempt to collect a debt.” I thought the first payment was not due yet and they said that it was a welcome call. She explained everything and was very helpful. I asked her if I wanted to make an extra payment and I wanted it to all go towards the principal and she said to make sure I explain that and it would be good. They were very kind and respectful. I recommended a friend to them too, as well. I have foster care income and some people consider that income and some don’t. It was another foster parent and I was like, "They'll hook you up."

Vanderbilt was amazing and I had a wonderful experience with them. When I started the process, I was looking to buy a house, and I thought I wouldn't get approved. I went to the place and I filled the application. Within the next day, Laura contacted me and told me that I was approved and the process I needed to do. I ran into a little roadblock when it came to the land because the land was somebody else’s.

Everybody was very courteous to me and respectful. They also listened. They were always clear about explaining. It was my first house, so I had a lot of questions about how escrow accounts worked, how the money worked, and how the insurance worked. Whenever I had a question, I was always able to get a live person on the phone and they would take time to answer. Whatever I needed, they were there every step of the way. That eased the burden of the buying process. When I called to complain that the mobile home company was taking their time delivering my house, they called the company and within the next four days, I had the house on my land.

Everything went very well with Vanderbilt. I'm very pleased with their customer service and they followed-up. Every time I had a question, I called and they were there, and we try a solution to my question. The communication was better because I knew what was going on throughout the whole process. The whole process took about three months and I was satisfied with the time frame. However, it could have been moved a little bit quicker. But I understand them going through all the paperwork is very time-consuming.

The whole lending process was really good. The application and underwriting process was less than 30 days and it was really good with the rep I started out with. He was really thorough in explaining things to me. I talked to three or four different reps at different times. They keep calling to make sure everything is good. I feel really good about them. It was really easy doing business with Vanderbilt and I have enjoyed the experience with them.

The application process, getting responses and talking with them were super easy. It took a couple of weeks completely before we got the approval. When it was asking for certain documentation, we needed to know exactly what documentation. They just said that was not the paperwork they needed. I had to guess at it three times before I got it right. I was smart enough to investigate.

I’ve recommended people to them. Another mortgage company kept denying us because they were giving us stupid reasons. I had the money down, and nobody wanted to work with us. I did a Google search for mobile home loans, and Vanderbilt came up first. They changed my life completely. Even though it was a low-end home, I'm very impressed.
