I received a credit alert that a hard inquiry was made at Transunion by someone using my credit / Social Security Number to attempt to open a new PayPal account or credit card. The details provided in the credit alert were: SYNCBPAYPALEXTRASMC PO BOX **. Phone **. The phone number was worthless - it's a FAX machine.
Although this review is about Synchrony Financial - some background is appropriate to understand why I'm so angry about this whole thing. Needless to say I tried calling PayPal right away to let them know. Idiots. Tried three times to call and report - only one rep was helpful but the call was cut off after multiple hold times in excess of 30 minutes EACH TIME.
Resorted to email contact with PayPal. After multiple email exchanges in which the representatives had obviously NOT read the details - I finally got a response with a phone number to contact another organization (whom they did not name - ultimately turned out to be Synchrony Financial) - which was worthless because the automated system only provides access if you have an account number. No way to access a human representative.
Next step was to Google which bank provides the PayPal credit card which led me to Synchrony Financial. Tried multiple ways to get in contact with them - tried calling their Fraud and Security (allegedly) direct phone number, tried multiple customer service numbers, tried using GetHuman to find a different number, tried Googling to get any sort of access, tried filing a "Concern" in their "Contact Us" webpage. ALL ABSOLUTELY USELESS. Why? Either because the webpage to file the "Concern" failed to process or because you can only get through on any of the phone numbers if you already have an account number - WHICH I OBVIOUSLY DON'T HAVE. Really??? Trying to report a fraudulent event and you can't get to anyone?? Unbelievable.
Luckily I already have a 7-year Security/Fraud alert filed with all three credit bureaus that prohibit them from granting new credit applications without a direct contact with me for a written authorization. So unless they ignore that and grant the credit account, I should be protected. And if they should approve the credit account for whatever reason, I'll get another credit alert as all my accounts are monitored 24/7 (text and email alerts therefore instantaneous). If that should occur, I'll contact the assigned representative on my credit monitoring account and let them deal with Synchrony Financial because I know they'll listen to them.

I have paid all my credit cards on time and they have increased my limits on my cards without me asking. Now they are cutting the credit limits down to what I owe and making it look like my credit cards are maxed out. Now my credit score is taking a beating. I wish there was a class action lawsuit against them, this is terrible practice, especially if they get your payments on time every month and in good standing with them. They suck, I can tell by all comments on here. It's not just me.

Always find a why to get fees. Can't get notices like others. Not easy to find if they do have them to check late fees are put on even before due and when you pay on time you will get credit in refund. That's one of the biggest changes when the bought PayPal. Interests always goes to highest you can pay soon after the take over and as soon as they charge fees they will call min 8 times a day till they get fees and even lie about refund to get it closed. My Chevron that I always paid in full every month because of this then they added more fees.

I purchased a guitar from Guitar Center and carried a low balance/payment to help build my credit score. After 9 months of not being late I made the fatal mistake of paying my bill 2 days before the fluctuating pay cycle was due. I logged into my account to make the payment the following month it showed that it was late. No one contacted me about being late or making a payment. As soon as I noticed it I made the payment (with fees) without a thought and come to find out they reported it to my credit report as being 30 days late. The result was a 40 point drop in my FICO score!!!
I called the service department and spoke with a customer service manager and tried to gather information to understand my situation. She was RUDE and un-empathetic. In their system it looked like I made 2 payments in the same cycle and none in the next. 2 days early was the difference of 40 points on my FICO. That didn't matter. There was no consideration for their customer. She kept referring to how "they were in their right" and how they weren't responsible for me not paying my bills. How 'bout advocating for and protecting your customer?
I have never had a negative customer service experience like this one. I tried to call back and make a complaint but was told that their "system was down". I will call back when the system is up, pay off the card, and close my relationship with Synchrony. Don't make the same mistake I did and deal with this company. Pay cash or use a reputable card company. I've learned my lesson and I'll be reminded of my mistake for the next 7 years.

If I could this company a minus 10 for a satisfaction rating I would. I have had a BP credit card for over 15 years. For 13 years the card was issued through Chase Bank. I never had a late payment or any issues with my card account the entire time Chase was servicing the account. In 2013 the BP accounts were switched to Synchrony Bank. After all my years with this card and no issues three month after Synchrony took over this card they cut my credit limit half. Now this past week after I had once again paid my balance before the card closed, they closed my account. I did not receive notice that they were doing this. I found out when my statement arrived on the 2nd of August.
When I called customer service and spoke to an account specialist she could not give me a reason as to why it was closed. She said they sent a letter, which is what I was told when they reduced the limit. Three years later still waiting for the letter. After 15 years and never a late payment or any other issue they closed the account, reported to the credit bureau with the comment (closed by granter) no other explanation!!! They dropped my credit score by 54 points. I told them I was going to research every source I can find to file a complaint. I was told that a granter closing an account especially one in good standing has a high impact on your credit score. This bank DOES NOT care.

Synchrony Financial has to be the worst company I have ever dealt with. I don't have much on any of the cards, but they're absolutely ridiculous. Their people can't even add or subtract, not a good way to run a financial company. I had a closed statement on June 30th, with a balance of $110.00. A payment in the activity shows a payment made on June 30th and the current balance is $55.00. A late fee was applied for $25.00 and said no payment was made.
If the balance was $110.00 and a payment was due of $25.00 A payment clearing shown in activity was made for $55.00 after the previous closing statement and 23 days before the due date. How can a late fee be applied idiots? Previous balance $100.00, payment made of $55.00 (25 due) and a balance of $55.00 left, then a late fee of $25.00 applied??? If late fee won't be paid, it will turned over to the Attorney Generals office. The $55.00 remaining balance will be paid and all of my Synchrony Financial accounts will be closed.

I has an issue with credit card balance. I thought I had a zero balance. Somehow they had attached fees. Unfortunately, I was unable to resolve issue. I have my activity pulled up on computer for reference. The first person I spoke with wouldn't let me say anything. He kept interrupting and talking over me, like he was reading from a script. Finally, I asked to speak to a supervisor. After being on hold for approximately 5-7 minutes. A female supervisor asked me what the problem was? Again, I tried to explain. She started talking over me. She did remark that we had a bad connection. I could hear her fine. In the end, I canceled the card. Credit Karma notified about change in credit score. I checked. For spite, they dinged me for a late payment with the dispute's date. I still have good to excellent credit. A lot of good that did them. My next project is to make list and get rid of all Synch cards.

This company is HORRIBLE!!! I have a few cards with them and two of them they decided to lower my credit limit after I just paid them $1k!!! I didn't want to use the credit again as I am trying to pay it all off. However, I did want to have that credit ceiling so that it didn't appear that I was maxed out because they lowered my limit to just above my balance!!! I called the Consumer Financial Protection Division and they stated that they were within their legal rights. Well duh!?! Of course, however what should be illegal is making their customers look like they're maxed out. Especially if you have an excellent credit history with them!!! I would like to gather as many complaints as possible and possibly seek a class action lawsuit or present to my senator/congressman. If interested please email your first name, state in which you reside, a brief description of what occurred and I will respond upon receipt. Please contact: **. This is unfair and not ethical!!!

CareCredit is billing me for $1,500 for dental work never performed. They are charging 27% interest on work never performed. I wrote to them telling them that the work was never performed and to stop billing me. They continued to bill me and add penalties. This has continued for two months despite written responses from me. I fear they will damage my credit. I have no choice but to file complaints with the Federal Trade Commission.
I went to Western Dental. I went there to have an exam. After a two hour wait, I saw the dentist. I was presented with a application for credit at 27% interest from CareCredit/Synchrony Bank. I filled out the application but decided something was wrong and never had any work done. My initial visit was paid for by insurance. It appears Western Dental used the application as a scam to get money from CareCredit ($1,500) claiming the work was done. Now I am getting bills from CareCredit for $1,500 as well as late charges for work never performed. Stay away from Western Dental. They will use your information to scam people and hurt your credit.

I've had an account with Synchrony Financial through Lowe's, and now through Sleep Number's. And it never fails that I make every payment but still incur late charges because I was a day early with my payment. Their customer service is unable to adjust the payment so that it covers the intended billing period. I hate being penalized for being early with my payment, and they should have the ability to make those adjustments. I'll never do business with them, or any business that uses them, in the future.

Two years ago I let the clerk at Gap talk me into getting a credit card to save 20 percent on a pair of underwear. At first I demurred, because I'm out of the country a lot and was worried about missing a bill... She pointed out that they do all of their billing online, so I don't have to worry... made perfect sense. Then about a year ago, I got an e-mail from a company called "Synchrony Credit" telling me they'd taken over the credit cards for Gap. The e-mail told me to go to Synchrony's site and log in using my Gap credentials.
I assumed it was some sort of phishing expedition and wondered what kind of a moron would give their log-in to a company with a fake-sounding name, especially since Gap hadn't ever mentioned that they were switching. A few months later, I come back to the US and find paper bills. Synchrony used to be the in-house credit-card agency of GE, and now they are issuers for hundreds of retailers, including Gap, and apparently to save themselves money they consolidated all of their customers on their own site. It turns out I had an outstanding $20 balance on my Gap card which I'd forgotten about... and since I wasn't getting notices from Gap, I ignored the phishing expedition.
You see where I'm going: I paid as soon as I realized the charges were legit, but these yahoos lowered my limit, which somehow lowered my credit rating... so now I have a lower credit rating because I wanted to save 20 percent on some new underwear... and getting a straight answer from them is impossible. They also say it's impossible for them to send me a PDF of my statements. It all has to be done by mail. I can pay online, but I can't see what I'm paying for. These incompetent imbeciles now manage credit cards for hundreds of retailers, and they have no regard for the way their errors impact customers. SLEAZEBALLS!

I've been wronged by Synchrony Financial and have notified them and the companies that use this institution of such. I will be bringing lawsuit against them for ruining my name and affecting my credit for no reason. They lowered and even closed several of my excellent standing accounts for no reason. Yes this upset me because I worked hard to build up my credit after a nasty divorce. Something that took years to build back up, they tore down with one click. If you've been wronged by this company for any reason and would like to be named in a lawsuit as a plaintiff, you may contact me via this post.
I am not an attorney and I cannot represent you, but your case can become a lawsuit in conjunction with, if you sincerely feel they have illegally wronged you and your name. This Financial institution is the worst I've seen in my 28 years having a credit history with anyone. They are bullying their cardholders for no reason and should be held accountable for doing this. If they are having problems with their own accounting, good consumers should not pay for their inside issues.

I just received a letter stating my TJX card has been closed. I have NEVER been late and I just paid the account off in full in May. I have derogatory items on my credit from several years ago that was there when I received the card however Karen the manager stated despite my excellent payment history as a faithful customer, it didn't matter because the derogatory items on my credit superseded my current situation. Granted I have not had one late payment since 2013 and it's now 2017. The only new recent account I have is a personal loan I took out to consolidate some credit card balances.
So despite my EXCELLENT payment history with Synchrony Bank they felt as though I am unworthy to hold their $300 credit limit account. Now I am going to close my Gap account and I will NEVER do business with this horrible bank. I wish I had read these reviews prior to opening the accounts. There has been no benefit to me even having the accounts and now they have made my credit worse with an account being "closed by creditor" and the account had a positive track record. If you are looking at using this company - STOP AND READ THIS FIRST. I don't believe this company even deserves a one star rating! This is absolutely the worst company I have ever dealt with. Their Customer Service (which is in the Philippines) can do nothing except read from a script and keep placing you on hold, until you demand to be transferred to the US. When and if you finally speak to someone and explain the issue, they tell you "We will have to send that for an investigation." Don't bother to ask for a call back because they will tell you they don't make call outs. Well, they can certainly call and harass you about your payment, like several times a day! Clearly a case of the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. What kind of Customer Service is this? It's NOT!
After a year and a half of calling numerous times trying to get somewhere with Synchrony, they keep applying late fees and have stalled to the point where now the interest will be tacked on AND they have turned it over for collections. REALLY?! So what am I doing about it? I filed a complaint with the BBB, The Kentucky Attorney General and the Florida Attorney General and the FTC. Funny, other credit card companies were giving me offers and yet another major creditor just increased my credit. No formal letter, no explanation - But when I called them - I get a non-English speaking rep. from some place in Florida. I find that hard to believe.
I was told, my payment was late - Sure, that was my fault - But my balance was - Paid in Full. I asked Synchrony to consider removing any LATE fees if any exist - "No Sir, no late fees, but I noted this on the account. Let me talk with a supervisor. Sir, Sorry to keep you holding, my supervisors said we will note this on the account and remove all late fees as a..." Well you get the idea...
Months go by - And NOW - I get a debt collector telling me that I owe almost 200.00 from the time I closed the account back in November/December 2016. No formal letter, no notification - But wait - The Debt collector tells me - "Synchrony Bank tried emailing you." Really? Since when does a bank discuss personal matters with an email account? The debt collector can send a formal letter but a Large Bank can't afford a print out statement? That's interesting. So this will probably go nowhere. I just wanted to write a review about CareCredit company. First of all am here not only to make a complaint, but also want to inform people for the sole purpose to educate them and be on the watch by this predatory companies in which like to prey on hard working people. On 4/12/2017 I had to make an emergency visit to the dentist for a toothache on my 3rd molar tooth on my right side. I went to my local dentist office and I was charged $1800 for a root canal and crown which I believe is extremely expensive despite I had no pain, I made a $300 payment plus visit fee. Due to the fact that I didn't had the money I decided to use CareCredit for the sole purpose to get my procedure done and not get into the point where I would suffer a toothache. After the payments my dentist told me that my minimum payments would be $58 a month through CareCredit and my first due date would be 5/5/2017.
I receive my statement and guess what I had a bill for $85 a month. While checking the statement I saw that CareCredit was charging me interest and am not even late. It's only my 1st payment and I am being charged for Credit, Fees & Adjustments for $27.50 and a Interest Charge of $8.77. How in the hell I get charge interest and it my first payment? Can someone explain? I decided to contact my dentist to confirm if they made a mistake and they provided me documentation in which was filed correctly, so I contact CareCredit and no one answered. All I get is dial tone machine, but no key to speak to a representative.
After reading my statement I believe I sign a deal with the devil himself (Dave Fasoli CEO of CareCredit). They charged deferred interest. I am extremely angered and sadden that this con artist Dave Fasoli is willing to put people through this. My advice to anyone who reads this do not get CareCredit. Is a scam! SYNCHRONY FINANCIAL IS THE BIGGEST CORPORATE GREEDY COMPANY THAT IS WILLING TO SCREW YOU TO FILL THEIR POCKETS. Any legal advice to deal with this? I will continue to make payments regardless, but I am not happy I will owe this amount or more.

I have been having a Wal-Mart credit Card for several years. A couple of months ago I was reviewing my credit card statement and learned that Credit Cards Services was charging me $12.65 for a protection plan just in case I lose my job per the company. I explained that I had not signed up for it and I wanted them to discontinue that services and the lady agreed. They credited my account $400.00. I was told after she credited my account that the reason I was able to get the card because of the protection coverage. No one had ever told me that. Nevertheless, in two months, my credit limit was dropped, I was told after they reviews my account it was necessary. It's so sad that these people are making money off consumers basically saying, "I need you to pay me more money for this credit card." I refuse to keep paying for something I will not use. I want the decision to be mine since I am paying and not the company.

I have a Walmart account with them. I was late 2 times this year. They reduced my credit limit to 800. I owe them like 50 dollars less than that. So here is my problem with this whole pile of BS. The letter states that other factors caused them to reduce my limit from 3000 to 800 which means other accounts on my credit report that have nothing to do with this account at all. There is no such thing as fair credit reporting anymore. Is all lies. I contacted them and no one could tell me what specific thing cause this only that it was a good business decision and that it would not be corrected.
I would have not had an issue if they would have reduced it to 1400. At least I would not have been at 100%. It makes no sense to me how this helps them in the long run. All they have done is cause my score to drop worse than it already was. I am not telling you my score is great. It is not but to put me at 100% is just low down and dirty. I wish someone could really do something with these credit card companies like Synchrony Bank. Just another dirty bank.

I still drove 100 miles home to take care of my personal affairs and paid Walmart account 300.00 and minimum payment 25.00. Yes two payments. Funerals 2/27/2017.
March two payments 350.00 and minimum payment 25.00. Switch my banking of all my credit cards and forgot my auto payment to Walmart in the amount of 25.00. So that meant 3 payments each were initiated for the month of Feb and March. I get the April schedule payment ahead of time for April 26 NSF, unnoticed and scheduled one for May 3, 2017. Caught that only Walmart payment was scheduled in the wrong account but they still were paid two payments in one month passed the minimum. The account was closed yesterday, although I was told that it closes after 3 NSF. I have proof of deaths, but most of all they got two payments and passed the minimum. They closed the account anyway.
I feel like there was absolutely no compassion, no attempts review my bank statements and obituaries stamped by the county; nothing. Stay away from this bank. I have had this card for over 3 years. I have never had a late payment. EVER. I usually made multiple payments in a given month more than the minimum payment. I had a credit limit of $2800 until I checked this morning and it was lowered to $2200. When I chatted with the online chat rep all he could say was he was sorry and that I would get a letter in the mail. I told him I was sorry for him that he works for such a terrible company that treats its loyal customers this way. My last balance was $1700, way below the credit limit. I asked for one increase to my limit last month - my scores (all of them) were above 670. They refused to increase. (Ironically, 3 of my other credit cards granted my credit increases - all soft pulls). Currently, I am making payments to my vet for a surgery due to the fact they would not increase my limit so I could use this card.
I am so done with this card. Also, they do not allow you to transfer your balance to a credit card with lower interest rates and you must pay in cash every time. I have 7 open c.c accounts - all in great standing and one collection (paid in full - one month after it was reported - over 3 years ago). I have also paid off 2 bank loans and one student loan in the last 3 years in full. So, I don't really understand why they did what they did to my credit decrease - live and learn and I will pay off this card asap. If anyone even thinks about getting this card, DO NOT DO IT. You are better off getting a secured or higher interest sub-prime credit card than this one. The interest rates with those cards are actually lower than this card. My interest is 29.99% and they never lower it no matter what you do. So, again...do not never get this card!

They will not give you this info over the phone even if you give them your social sec #, address, phone, etc. I have tried for years to access my account online, but they always say something to prevent me from logging onto my account to see what they are charging me for. I have sent several emails inquiring about my balance. No response. Ever. They will not allow you to access your own account easily because they know that are cheating you and you will call them out.
They are now telling me that the rules of the original agreement changed and they, of course, sent an email stating this. I have no record of this and when you change the rules of a contract, you must have a signature. I cannot access account, I cannot find out what I have paid, been dealing with them for years and I just had THREE "supervisors" hang up on me. Months one and two I received email notification of payment due. I paid them 150 each of those months. My April payment came due - no notice was received. On the day it was due, they located my chair that matched a previously purchased discontinued loveseat. I went in to the store and purchased the chair, paid my deposit and nothing was mentioned that the April payment was due.
Today I received an email notice that I missed a payment - I could not get online to make my final 150 payment on the bed (they were sorry for the inconvenience). When I called, I was told that they wanted the 16 dollars plus an additional 65 dollars as late payment. Seriously. I told them I was paying a total of the remaining balance on the bed. They refused to take it without me paying it - and the missed payment - and 65 dollars for late payment. I finally got online and it refused to let me pay less than this amount. I paid the 157.00 payoff all the while knowing that they have added 81 dollars to the cost of a 400 bed. The chair will be paid off in 2 payments and this account will be closed. I will not make another purchase at Rooms to Go cash, charge or otherwise.

It's been a year since I've tried to end the "relationship" with Synchrony. I got an Old Navy credit card in 2012 and the lack of customer service and extreme hoops to jump through with Synchrony Financial has been a pain from the very beginning. Rarely are you connected with a representative who you understand and who understands you in return, the representatives are NEVER familiar with the policies or conflict resolution, and you will always been transferred multiple times because no one knows how to resolve issues based on their level of training and abilities. Never once have I spoken with a representative who was polite or helpful. I've been hung up on more than 5 times, the automatic system is poorly designed, online account access is not user-friendly, and written complaints go unanswered.
Customer concerns, comments, and complaints are completely ignored and every interaction is negatively escalated by representatives of Synchrony because they don't want to help customers in the first place. Also, your cards and accounts will be deactivated without notice or reason. Twice my card has been deactivated six months before the expiration date without a mail, email, or phone notice prior to the deactivation. Synchrony is a poor representation of all brands affiliated with it: Old Navy, Gap, Athleta, Banana Republic, Amazon, Wal-Mart, etc. These are reputable stores/brands in the United States and I am concerned for the brands' reputation. I wish to bring awareness to the lack of support and good business practices of Synchrony Financial which reflect poorly on these businesses.
Unfortunately, these businesses are associated with Synchrony Financial and most customers will not make a separation of the two and the companies/businesses will take the brunt of the complaints and negative representation. Save yourself the excessive amount of interest rates, poor customer support, and intentional inconveniences that force you to pay additional charges despite responsibly paying your monthly bill. Synchrony Financial has no morals, does not stand for the people, and is a terrible representation of American companies and brands.

I also sustained a small injury and a small medical debt while renovating. Needless to say these things caused my credit score to drop. I’ve been paying everything down as best I can ever since and have never been late on a payment. But every time I make a substantial payment towards my Synchrony accounts they lower my credit limit to just above what the new balance is. This makes it look like I continue to have high balances on my accounts which keeps my score low. Then because my score is low, they lower my limit on another account and so on.
So far I have 3 accounts that they’ve done this to. One of which has dropped from a $4500.00 limit down to $1700.00. They are the only creditor that I have that insists on doing this kind of shady business. I am not being treated as a customer, I am being treated as a number or better yet, a risk. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and am waiting for Synchrony to contact me in regards to this issue.

I received a letter from them in March stating they were cutting my limit down from 1300 to 430 of course after I had paid the entire balance off on my card! They then reported to the credit bureaus that I had gone over my limit! I never ever went over my limit, was late with a payment, or missed a payment! They refuse to fix this problem!!!
I am still battling with them and now to add insult to injury they closed my Old Navy account that I didn't even owe any money on! They sent a letter saying my credit report was derogatory! There is NO NEW DELINQUENCIES on my credit report!!! The same info that was on it when I opened my account is the same info on it now!!! This makes me angry! When I called they claim it is because I haven't used the account!!! They are fraudulent and rude and they treat their loyal and good customers horribly! I can see if my payments had lapsed or if my balance was high, but they lower your limit and close accounts when you pay your bills and your account is in GOOD STANDING??? I cannot believe this! I applied for, and was approved for, a $500 limit on this card. My first use was for a rescue dog that came to us beat up from a fight with another dog at the last foster home. It cost me $78 or so, which I paid with next SSDI check before the bill was even due. I received my next bill, and it said I still owed for that amount. Called their customer service and was informed that no payment had been received, however I paid using their online service, and my own bank confirmed that their payment had been taken out.
We then rescued a puppy, just 6 weeks old, who had been attacked by the mother and needed surgery to remove her eye. This used up the rest of my available balance (odd since they say they turn you off for missed payments). We then repeated the process, with me making payments, and them claiming I hadn't. I finally stopped sending them money, telling the customer service rep that I had already paid them $600 for a $500 line of credit, and that my bill was now over $900. It recently went to collections, and I called the agency and informed them of the situation. Their response was that I needed to take it to court, but they would continue after me for payment, as it was their business.
If you think this card might be for you, I hope you have the money to throw away, because I live on Disability, and can't afford to send a quarter of my monthly income to some company that cant keep track of their payment history.

My other cards carry credit lines from $12,500 to $25,000 and I have a 7 figure income, my credit report shows total outstanding debt of $282. WTF. In November, signed up for promotional financing on a TV from hhgregg. Purchased a second TV that we cancelled the order on prior to delivery. We never got the second TV but it was on our Dec bill from Synchrony anyway. I wrote Synchrony about it. The reply letter said we would not be billed late fees or minimum payment on said item during their investigation. Now 3 months later. Each bill Jan, Feb, March. All still have the new huge balance as well as that minimum payment due for the TV we never got. And late fees.
As a 750+ credit score holder this is really displeasing. I have written 2 more letters with no reply and have called over 20 times and NEVER got to speak to a person. Their phone system after being on hold 1/2 hour will always return to the main menu. This is predatory lending and who the heck is going to pay for a $4000 purchase they didn't receive? How could a legitimate investigation take 4 months? Do Not Use this finance company. They are not honest or customer friendly.

On March 3, 2017 I went to Sam's Club in Woodstock GA for gas and groceries. At the pump, it declined my Sam's Card and I had to use my Chase Credit Card to pay at the pump. I went inside to member services to be sure they had my new address, which I had changed previously on the internet, then went shopping.
At the register, I was declined twice, then at member services declined again, so I left my groceries. Later, at home, I called Synchrony Bank and they had blocked my card. Perhaps it was due to inactivity or new address (I don't know), but they unblocked me. Sometime next week I may try again when I am in that area. I was very dissatisfied at being declined three times. So Sam's Club lost a $51 sale, pissed off a good customer (me), and I will be sure to tell others about my experience.

This is by far the worst credit company! They approve people very easily for a loan in the medical field - you start paying and they keep on lowering your credit limit EVEN if you're paying 3 times the balance due and ultimately destroys your credit! PLEASE be aware of them and AVOID anything with this company. Better use your credit card or wait until you have money saved up OR you will be paying 5 times more and a lower credit because of this company. PLEASE DO NOT USE - do your research! I end up paying my loan off and so happy I don't have to deal with this company ever again.

The routing number which I used the same for all other payments was exactly the same, yet Synchrony kept sending notices that my bank could not find my account. I had a banker call and finally set up a different way to pay the balance and get rid of Synchrony. Second time was at Sam's Club. I did not know it was Synchrony until got the bill. Paid in full, and again, "bank could not find account". Went to banker, they acknowledged that they had the right info. I paid the balance and forgot about it. Then again, "bank could not find account". Checked with Synchrony routing number info, and it was a good one. They resent, and whammo it worked! Then my balance was the ZERO (again).
But the following month, I got a charge and their agent said it was "interest". I asked how could they charge interest on a zero balance? So they wiped it out and apologized. They promised it would not happen again. Yesterday, SYNCHRONY sent a BILL FOR INTEREST ON A ZERO BALANCE! Somebody must be extorting and laundering money. How many people pay and don't even bother to care about who is able to grab their money?

My Walmart account is **. At 7.52am on February 21st 2017 I made my regular online payment yet noticed that on the same day a late fee of $25 was posted to my account! This morning when I rang Synchrony to complain I was told by Jairo ID ** that 'late fees were automatically added' to customer's accounts 'when' those customers used the online payment system 'because the system did not recognize' payments had been made even though those payments had been made on the morning of the day that they were due.
Jairo ID ** then told me that those 'automatically applied late fees' were 'automatically repaid to the customer' after the online payment had 'posted' and that payments posted online did not show up for 48 hours. That is of course total **. The payment I made to Synchrony registered in my Citibank account at 6.36am this morning, February 22nd.
What Synchrony is doing is illegal. It is a fraudulent means of registering late payments against accounts that are in good order, and to which payments have been made on the day they were due. You cannot levy late payments of $25 against accounts and use the excuse that Synchrony can operate like this because the 'system you use does not recognize payments'. This morning I checked with ConsumerAffairs and saw 389 complaints against this practice of yours. I want this system of yours stopped; and for late fees to NOT be taken in the first place on accounts that are in good order. I had my car worked on at Midas and opened a Synchrony Bank Midas credit card while I was at the store. I disputed the charge with Synchrony Bank because Midas Auto services misdiagnosed the problem with my car and charged me 293.00 that I didn't need to spend. I found out later all I really needed was a new gas cap. Synchrony Bank took 60 days to investigate which I could have done in 5 minutes with the way their "investigation" was done. I got a call from the corporate office that this woman Jen ** was going to speed up my dispute. Another 10 days later I get a letter saying my dispute was denied. I continually called Synchrony Bank and was given the runaround for 60 fricken days to find out they don't get involved in service issues and they are just the finance company through the credit card. I am livid.
I talked to Jen ** again and told her how I thought her investigation was a joke and I am shocked at how Synchrony Bank treats customers. I asked for her supervisor which I am waiting to see if she returns my call. I closed the account because of making me wait 60 days on a dispute and then abruptly denying me. I asked Jen ** if she actually called the Midas store. She told me she didn't. So, she didn't even properly investigate the dispute. I then asked her to contact the Midas store and she refused to do so. She said she would only do it on a three-way call. I said I do not want to talk to the store. She said that is going against my credit card agreement by not working with the merchant. I cannot even believe how ridiculous Synchrony Bank is. I am floored I had to wait 60 days when they didn't even fully investigate the dispute.
Jen tells me that the dispute department called the store and spoke to them and they told her that they were willing to work with me. I asked Jen what exactly working with me meant because the last time I spoke to the district manager Robert at the store he was hostile toward me. She said she didn't know but that is what they said so that is why my dispute got denied. So, based on Midas saying "We will work with him" the bank denied my dispute? Unbelievable. They may dispute this but it's there in black and white and many, many complaints have been filed to no advantage to having them start billing interest properly. They bill you interest on the first charge you make. You pay the minimum payment due, or perhaps more, but not all of the balance. You make no more actual merchandise purchases. They take the interest from your last bill... let's say this was your November 2016 bill. When computing the December 2016 bill, they add the interest billed in November back to your balance as if it were a purchase made in December. Then they charge interest on it and your bill goes up instead of down like it should.
Do an on-line query about Synchrony Bank and their interest charging practices. You will find many class action lawsuits against them. I would like a refund on all of the extra interest they have billed me over the years (even when they were known as GE Capital Retail Bank)... On Dec. 6, 2016, I was diagnosed with a lethal strain of Non-Small Cell Squamous Cell Lung cancer and the person who assisted me when I called to have help with the bill was very rude, very! I had recently hoped to improve my credit score through obtaining a new credit card. Since I needed some percussion equipment and Guitar Center offered their Gear Card, I took them up on the offer. It is a credit card from Guitar Center, partnered with Synchrony Bank. Upon immediately using this card, I made the entire payment in one check and mailed it back to Synchrony.
Four weeks later, I received a delinquent payment notification from Synchrony, including their late fee, and this naturally sent me up into a rage. I called to inquire what happened, and never received any actual human feedback (nothing but automated messages, including an address for late payments due to lost checks). I mailed a second payment to the address for lost checks. Today, I received a call from Synchrony for debt collection! Additionally, after giving up and paying the entire thing online, I was rejected literally by Synchrony for asking to speak with customer service. They will not allow interaction with customer service if you have a late payment. Since I made the online payment and then called, they said I need to wait for 24, maybe 48 hours. Since I said I was not calling to complain based on the recent online payment, but on the attempted payments made weeks before, I was told I would not receive customer service support.
IN SHORT: Synchrony is really sinCRONY: they reject payments in order to claim delinquent payments and all the late fees that come with it, while exacerbating your credit score in the process, and they literally make it harder for you to either complain or make amends for any issues. They are NOT a place to have a credit card with, and they know what they are doing. This is BEYOND corrupt - this is the meticulous and systematic set up of defrauding customers. I held 3 accounts with Synchrony Bank; Walmart, Sam's Club and Amazon. My average balance between them was $1200.00 each. I was laid off Oct 27th. In November I signed up with a debt consolidation program to "save" my credit. My payments were still being made through November. In January, I decided to pay off all my debts from my 401k account instead of through the debt consolidation plan. (It would take 4-6 months of non-payment for the debt consolidation to even start.)
In January 2017, I started to pay off all my debts, starting with Synchrony Bank. As soon as I notified them I was paying my balance to zero, they CLOSED two of my accounts before my payment could post! I called to ask why and I was told the system automatically closes accounts the day it hits 90 days past due. That's bull! If a payment, especially a full balance due payment is scheduled to post within 3 business days, it should not close. THEN after they finally post, the credit line on the third account drops from $1000 to $100 stating it was because of a review of my credit report. (That hasn't even been updated yet). I closed the third account myself telling them they can keep their lousy $100 credit line. I would rather my credit report show I closed the account than the creditor closing it.
Bottom line is... when Synchrony Bank sees you are trying to do the right thing, and pay what is owed instead of filing bankruptcy or just ignoring them, they will screw you over by closing your accounts and taking the money or decreasing your credit line to almost nothing to ruin your credit report anyway. I should have kept my $3800 and made them wait. It did me no good to do the right thing! I'm telling everyone I know to close their accounts with Synchrony before they close them for no reason!!

However the person on the other end said my phone number was not valid, since it was not registered under my name (my phone is provided by my employer). All of this, despite the fact that Synchrony called me on the number which they would now not accept as legit. They wanted to send me validation via snail mail, meanwhile keeping my card totally locked down. I also had previously provided the last 4 digits of my SSN during the course of my conversation, but that is also apparently not enough.
The bottom line is that this company has no better way to validate your identity other than insisting upon some rigid prescribed process which doesn't work for everyone (send me a letter? It's 2016!). Their customer service people cannot bypass the process, so they cannot truly help customers. They do not appear to have any interest in crafting better systems of security that put the onus on the bank, rather than on the consumer. So I was having to go the long phone route to pay my bill, and being hard of hearing that puts me in a bad mood. My interactions on a phone are a lot of me saying, "Excuse me I did not hear that".

Synchrony Bank took over PayPal's buyer credit. This credit was nice since it gave you added protection on eBay and other sites. Now that Synchrony has that side of PayPal, you can never pay your bill online, even though there is a link back to Synchrony bank. So you end up having to track a phone number to this bank. You call the bank and they want an account number, which none of us ever had as it was through our Paypal account. If you can finally get to the right place to pay your bill, you have to fight for them not to charge you $15 for paying by phone even though their online interface has been down for 3 months now. I forgot to mention you don't get a paper statement as this was all handled online by PayPal for years.
My hearing is not good so this really upsets me. Add to that the fact they won't send a statement and when you try to view your statement through PayPal, the link crashes. I am enclosing a picture of what happens when you try to pay/view your statement online. How can a bank take us back to the EARLY 1990s for bill paying. Is it even legal not to be able to get a statement??

I made a purchase from HHGregg on their in-house credit card backed by Synchrony Bank. In order to pay off the balance before the interest was applied, I immediately started making payments 3 to 4 times the amount of the minimum balance. The VERY first month, I paid the first payment 2 weeks after the first purchase, in order to get ahead of the game. The first statement I got from the bank had a late fee on it. Their reasoning is that I paid before the statement was created. This went on for 4 months (my own fault, as I didn't notice the fee at first - why would I have a fee... I paid early) before I noticed it.
I called the bank only to have them tell me that they did not accept EARLY payments. After an hour of arguing with two different people I was able to get 3 out of the 4 late fees back. The fact of the matter is that they STOLE this money from me. I paid them MORE MONEY than was asked, PRIOR to the due date, and I was STILL charged LATE FEES. That is called stealing. Synchrony Bank opened 7 (SEVEN) fraudulent credit cards under my name within a week. They never verified any of the information and they reported a fake address to all three majors credit reporting agencies. By some stroke of dumb luck, three of the fraudulent cards arrived at my home, not the person committing the fraud. After calling Synchrony to cancel the cards & report the fraud, they told me that there were additional credit card applications submitted to them in my name, pending approval.
HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN? Where is their fraud department??? Obviously, no one needs seven separate credit cards, specifically, for BP gas, Marvel Comics, EBates, and Banana Republic, etc. I checked my credit reports and placed fraud alerts on my file. Now I must monitor everything because of Synchrony Bank's negligence. They should be fined and sanctioned by all governing agencies in order to prevent this from happening to anyone, ever.

This has to be the one of the worst credit institutions in the market. I had a Marshalls/TJ Maxx card issued by Synchrony. I've had this account for over 5 years, have paid it off several times over and I'm never late or miss a payment - until I set up auto pay on their site. Their auto pay only withdraws on the bills due date and doesn't factor in if you've paid the bill manually before the due date.
I had 2 auto pay transactions that didn't go through because of insufficient funds. My checking account had fraud activity on it, and to prevent my account being wiped out, I transferred my cash to my savings account and forgot that a payment was coming through from Synchrony. As soon as I saw that the payment was missed, I sent them $500 the very next day. On the second occasion, I thought I had paid the bill in full, but there was a finance charge left on the account that was processed through auto pay - about $26. For some reason it was returned. The very next day, I sent them the missed payment plus the late fee. These are the only 2 times since I've opened this account that I had a minor payment issue that was rectified immediately. What does Synchrony do, they close my account!
When I called after trying to use my card and being denied, I was told that if I make a payment, they can turn the account back on, which is not true. They apparently don't have to notify you that you're in danger of having your account turned off and they cut it off if there's 2 returned payments no matter the circumstances, not matter your credit history with the company. In a span of 5 years, I've had 2 returned payments that were handled immediately - in addition to the fact that I pay the account twice a month, once through auto pay, once manually, and they STILL closed the account. I'm not sure how much of an impact this will have on my score since I'm in the very high 700's and the account was only a 2K max, but be warned! Synchrony DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS. I will never open an account managed by them again.

I have had the Old Navy card since 2007. Never have I had to request an increase, GE increased me automatically. I topped out at $2700 until I recently received a decrease letter after complaining to the rep after I have several months paying my bill online as I have always done. I would end up paying on the phone and late. I recently received a request to upgrade my card to a Visa, but I'm not interested. Especially since my limit was reduced to $1340, which is so close to my $1250 balance. No real reason, just that my other balances are high, which is not the case. This reminds me of the practices of PROVIDIAN. They continued lowering limits to mirror balances, which would incur late fees and over the credit limit fees due to interest attached. I will be paying this card off and closing. Hopefully they have a class action suit because they are running a shady business.

I'm not sure why but Synchrony bank has cut everyone of my credit limits and actually closed a few of my long lasting (never late) accounts. Every time they close one they send me a letter using the excuse that my credit limits are maxed out. The only cards that are maxed out are their cards due to them constantly cutting the limit. For example I have a TJX Rewards cards started with a $2000 limit. The balance owed was about $1800 right after Christmas, so I paid $500 on it and they cut the limit down to $1379.
A few months later I had it paid down to under $1000 because I do not like max out cards, so they cut it to $1000. This specific card had a point system so it was good to use for the rewards during the holidays. What I don't understand is why they keep doing this, I actually had 7 cards thru them and they have done this to every single card for no justifiable reason. I have not made late payments. I always pay more than the minimum due and some of my other cards thru other creditors are actually increasing my limits.
This is starting to get on my nerves because they keep "inquiring on my credit," "keep lowering my limits" and then use these two reason as the excuse to lower the limit. I'm to the point that I want them all closed but I have been advised that that would be bad for my credit rating. I will NEVER open another card thru SYNCHRONY and I would advise everyone to avoid them at all costs. I have never had an issue with any other credit card issuer. The only reason I have 7 Synchrony cards is different stores use Synchrony but you receive discounts if you use their store cards, such as Dick's, Walmart, JCPenney etc... I'll just start shopping elsewhere...

ON 9/18/16 I called Synchrony and spoke to Bill, an Asian person with a heavy accent (Apparently, Synchrony sends our jobs overseas). "Bill" reversed the late fee and the deferred interest as well. That left a zero balance on the account. That same day we made a purchase for $39.99, 9/18/16. On 9/25/16 I checked the account online. There was a balance of $53.09. The $39.99 plus an interest charge of $13.10!!!

I did proceed to call CareCredit for some additional insight.
There is no activation fee once I start using the card. Good, thank you. The procedure's estimate is over $200, but the pre-op work is less than that. So, if I charge less than $200 (as part of the whole procedure), it is subject to 26.99% interest. I can certainly pay the rest of the +$200 charge off within the promotional period but am extremely hesitant to utilize this card at all.
Glad I found this out in advance and can pay for pre-op separately should I decide to actually use the card. Please be an educated consumer and I sincerely thank the prior reviewers for bringing light to Synchrony Bank's questionable practices. Overview of complaint: If you have multiple promotional purchases on your credit card, and one of the promotional offers expires, Synchrony does NOT apply your monthly payment to the portion of your balance that is getting charged interest. Instead, they apply it towards your remaining promotional purchase balance.
Details: With my City Furniture credit card, on 4 separate dates I made 4 purchases. Each purchase had a promotional period, meaning if you pay off that balance within a period of time, there is no interest. Since these purchases were made at different times of the year, each one had its own "expiration date" for the promotion. That part is fair and easy to understand.
To clarify, when you make a promotional purchase, you get 0% interest for that time period but in exchange, a minimum monthly payment is required. This is also fair. Let's say, for example, the *total* minimum monthly payment of these 4 purchases is $195. Over the course of a year (for example), let's say one of these 4 promotional offers EXPIRES. In other words, now the remaining balance on that purchase (and that purchase only) is subject to interest. This is fair.
Here's what is NOT fair: They do NOT tell you that the promo period has expired. (That doesn't bother me so much, since every statement includes the expiration date for each separate promo purchases). But what DOES bother me, is that THEY DO NOT ASK YOU FOR ANY MINIMUM MONTHLY PAYMENT toward the balance that is subject to interest. So what does this mean? I continued making my monthly payments, only to realize one day that 100% of my monthly payment were going towards the no-interest promo purchases and NONE of my payment was going towards the balance that is subject to interest. So EVERY MONTH for the past 8 months, while the promotional balances were steadily going down, the amount subject to interest was going UP due to the fact that NONE of my monthly payments were going towards that part of the balance, and they continued tacking on interest every month!!
This is deceptive, unethical and should probably be illegal. Essentially, it's a credit card that lets you make purchases, charges you interest on the balance and never asks you for a monthly payment. So every month your balance goes UP instead of down. When I called to inquire about this, I got their off-shore call center. They are unsympathetic, unemotional, and it's clear that they could really care less about the situation.
Bottom line: If they are charging you interest every month, then they should require a monthly payment, just like every other credit card. The woman at the call center told me that it is my fault. That I should be making *more* than the minimum required payment per month. She also informed me that if I ever wanted to apply any portion of my additional payment towards the amount that is subject to interest, I would have to CALL them to make this request.

As I was facing a loss in my family, great financial strain followed. I continued making monthly payments in amounts more than I could afford - $75, $100, $50. I never missed a month, yet two of my payments were not sufficient so Synchrony reported two months as NON-PAYMENT which is not only a LIE but extremely detrimental to one's credit report and against the law. I never missed a payment. When I called to address this problem I spoke to a young, very pompous, rude and unprofessional representative by the name of Tyler who claimed that his first name is the ONLY way I can identify him, but then gave his supposed supervisor's name (a generic name used by nearly every financial institute in the country) "James **".
As I started to explain the loss in my family and financial hardship, the rude and unprofessional Tyler interrupted and asked when I was going to make a payment since I "hadn't made a payment for two months". Flabbergasted, I asked if he heard a word I had said about making a payment every month. I told him I was getting "pissed off", to which this little pompous punk responded "watch your language". I have an Amazon store card that's administered by Synchrony Financial. I use the card for interest-free financing for big ticket items. The last time I used the card, I bought some camera equipment, and paid the balance in full within the interest-free period. I also have an Amazon Prime account. I use it to order TV programs on an on-demand basis. Whenever I order anything on Amazon TV, it gets billed to my debit card. However, when I started a subscription to the Starz network, the fee (8.99), which recurs every month, was charged to my Synchrony Amazon store card. (Btw: It was also charged to my debit card.) Because I was under the impression that my Synchrony account was at a zero balance, and because I assumed that these fees were charged to my debit card, I never checked my Synchrony account balance. The thought just never occurred to me, and because it was at a zero balance, it was logical not to be concerned with it.
So, my Synchrony account went past due for three months. I wasn't made aware of the overdue payments. I never received any notification from Synchrony. I only found out about it when I was notified that my FICO score had changed. Prior to that, I'd never been late with a payment to my Synchrony Amazon store card. (In fact, I've never been late on any of my credit accounts.) But Synchrony saw fit to notify the credit agencies that I was 90 days past due. That is a serious derogatory on my credit report, and it's probably going to be extremely difficult to get it removed.
Since this happened, I've noticed a huge number of complaints on the Internet lodged against Synchrony Financial. So, I'm wondering if there is enough of a critical mass to initiate a class action lawsuit. Or, is this already in the works? Does anyone know of a class-action being filed against Synchrony? If so, I would like to hear about it so I can add myself to the suit. Any information you can provide would be most appreciated.

I HAD MY BANK STATEMENT SHOWING DIRECT DEDUCTIONS TO GE THEN SYNCHRONY BANK TOTALLY OVER $5000! The Magistrate tallied the payments and found in my favor.
Patenaude & Felix appealed to the Court of Common Appeals and won a default judgment simply because they did not notify me. But I did however get notice of the default judgment, and when I did I petition the court to strike that judgment due to non-notification, I won that petition and won to new court date, and showed up for the court date but the representatives from Patenaude & Felix did not. So again another judge ruled in my favor making the initial judgment that the amount was paid in full and sound in my favor final.
I submitted the court documents to TransUnion. They removed it. I submitted the documents to Equifax and Experian, & have been awaiting the removal of this negative from my credit file. Yesterday my credit was run and my Equifax did not come up, but Experian produce a 565. TransUnion produced a 733. I contacted the other two bureaus over the last two days and have been given conflicting information as to what is needed to get this off of my file. They said the creditor stated it would not be removed!!! The last thing I was told was that there is no connection in the documents that I sent from the court syncing the Synchrony Bank account with Patenaude & Felix & the court documents, but if I could produce that I would get it off of my file.
I sent them 21 pages of court documents in sequential order linking everything from Synchrony Bank to Gregg ** at Patenaude & Felix, to the judgment by both courts including the entire process, and they have still refused, and very rudely so, to remove that negative off of my credit. I have spent money filing petitions fighting my way to prove that I have not only paid this bill, but paid it in full. Showed up in court to clear my name. Won that twice! Uploaded, faxed, mailed by certified mail original documentation to prove that this account is what this court document applies to and it should be removed because it has been found that I have proven that my case was won against this collector.
I do not know what else to do! My TransUnion report is pristine. I don't know what my Equifax looks like because I can't get it! And as for Experian I know I have a 565 but they are absolutely refusing to do anything but dispute the item with Synchrony Bank to whom it no longer belongs, and I have attached everything! Please help me! This was a joint account. I was the only one paying the bill. I was the only one sued. I have never even Sat on the furniture! It is not in my home. It has not been in my possession! Three days later I received confirmation of payment and checked that my balance was $0. One month later I received a call from them stating that I have an outstanding balance of $600 because my payment was reversed, which I never received notification of, so now I owe interest charges and fees. When I asked which payment was reversed they couldn't answer me. So I called both the banks, which said that the payments did go through and the money was withdrawn from both the accounts.

Also when you have had a balance for one year they begin charging 30% interest. I have contacted the Attorney General's office, Consumer Affairs Division in my state to report them and have contacted the Better Business Bureau.

WARNING! SYNCHRONY BANK IS BAD FOR BUSINESS!!! I had eBay/PayPal business card for over 6 years now, and couple of weeks ago I received new PayPal Credit Card due to the changed of the bank name (formally GE to Synchrony Bank). I called with issue with HIGH interest rate, and I was told they are aware of the issue of the INTEREST RATE and they will fix it by November, and in meantime there is nothing they can do. Whatever you do, DO NOT EVER apply for Synchrony CREDIT CARD AT ALL!!! The interest rate is by far the highest regardless of your credit history and they kept telling me that it's NON-negotiable, despite good payment history and good credit (786 Fico)!
I called to see if I could lower my payment/APR because it keeps increasing every month and they told me that is not an option! I pay, I pay on time, I try to keep my credit in good standing and all I get is punished further!! What about the people that don't pay their card?? Are we paying for their mistakes?? If I had known how ignorant and unprofessional their customer service was, I would have never called in the first place! I'm sure I'm NOT the only customer that called about this issue, and I'm warning you DON'T EVER APPLY for their credit card or do business with them. NEVER AGAIN. I'm so fed-up with them right now, and I'm in the process of terminating every business relationship I have with eBay/PayPal because of Synchrony bank. I'm DONE!

After passing the date of maturity and not hearing from them, I called them. It was at this time that I was informed of over $700 in unpaid fees on the account. Being unable to pay this in one lump sum, even though I've never missed a payment, they attacked my credit and fraudulently reported me as being very delinquent. Their attack has caused a serious (100 pt) drop in my credit score!

Care Credit and its Affiliates issue a Health Care Credit Card which has terms and conditions which don't comply with the individual state regulations where the Consumer resides. For their other cosmetic services, each state has laws on who may render laser services. Care Credit allowed a business owner in Jacksonville, Florida to register with them as a provider with false information. Each provider must have valid credentials to be registered as a health care clinic. There are also regulations for who may own a medical spa.
In 2014, care credit listed a provider under other cosmetics, with 2 provider names as physicians with the clinic. An internal medicine physician, and a pathologist. When I visited the clinic, I was introduced to a man who called himself a physician, and recommended a plan of treatment. These charges were over $6,000. I specifically said that I didn't want to bill to Care Credit. I would pay out of pocket. They didn't give an itemized bill of the charges so you had no idea what each visit cost. Under Florida Law, the provider was required to give you an itemized bill. Neither one of the physicians on Care Credit's website were listed at the office. I never saw the doctors. Each visit became more suspicious.
The next month I learned the provider's office had billed the entire amount to the account before I had all the services rendered. I also hadn't even received the bill yet. I called GE financial, and they have terms which allow the provider to submit the invoice and get paid within 48 hrs, and if there is a discrepancy, only the provider can refund the account. Now these are terms which they have without ensuring the providers registered have the proper credentials and are registered with an active license with the state board of health department.
I did some research on the provider listed by Care Credit, whose office I visited, and learned the two physicians registered as being affiliated with the laser clinic, were not affiliated. State of Florida health records showed the internal medicine physician and pathologist had no address registered as a location which they service. The pathologist license was revoked. So, the question is how can you have terms like this to be favorable to a provider without checking their credentials? So, I looked up the people who were in the office, and learned the company was not registered as a clinic, with the state of Florida. The Duval county records showed he was a business owner who worked with his wife a registered nurse physician assistant, who had done a medical spa business before in Jacksonville, FL.
They didn't have the proper setup, so they closed the business, and now they were reopened under a new name. They restructured under another med spa structure falsifying information, in order to become a Care Credit provider. The person who identified the number of treatments was never registered as a physician in Duval county. He actually calls himself a medical spa consultant. They were not compliant for a medical spa. They had outstanding debt under the old business which now had carried over to the new business. Now honestly, do you think they are going to give money back? The answer is no! I shared this information with Care Credit, and GE, because this provider committed fraud, and collected money for services he wasn't legally able to perform.
Records showed the owner of the building filed a lien against the equipment for past due rent that wasn't paid, and records showed he was non-physician, and not a true owner. In addition to this state usury laws show the interest rate was above our usury law limits. Synchrony Bank responded and said they are retail card issuer as if none of the state laws apply to them, and that I should pursue the business owner. I disagreed, because their guidelines made it possible for anybody to get paid without validating their credentials. This guy has studied the medical industry, and so he knows the game and the loophole. He has already for a 3rd time closed his doors and reopened under a new business name.
Finally, I sent a complaint to the state of Florida Attorney General. They sent me a letter thanking me for the information, and forwarded the complaint and info to the State Attorney of California because Care Credit is in California. But California said it should go Florida, because I was in Florida when the contract was signed. I'm now going to send this to the White collar crimes division. Since my complaint, and when Synchrony Bank took over, the screen where you search for a provider has been updated to remove the name of the physicians. You have to go the provider's website to see the provider. I checked the providers now listed, for other cosmetics and they are registered properly. But the provider that I went to was removed before they closed.
Their new name wasn't even registered anymore. So this tells me, they tried to correct part of the problem before anyone else complained. But, them not thinking they are responsible is incorrect because they collect 10% off the top for providers, so they better make sure providers meet the state regulations before they continue to help the wrong people get paid. The company provider who wasn't set up properly for a Medical Spa or clinic was Infinitrim formerly Nirvana Clinic.

I can't believe what I had to do just to get my medication! For the third time (at the end of this report is a summary of the events leading up to this) my neurologist wrote a prescription for 60 pills over a 90 day period, and once again, Express Scripts claimed they got a prescription for 6 pills every 9 days, and claimed that was exactly what my neurologist sent. This would increase my cost for the medication from $90 to $900 for the exact same amount of medication.
I remembered watching a documentary called "Sicko", where Michael Moore's film crew follows people as they try to navigate the pitfalls of the American health care system. It was amazing how often gatekeepers became reasonable once they realized they were being filmed. And I thought "Not everyone has the luxury of their own film crew." Then I realized, I have an iPad. It has a video camera. I can be my own film crew!
After discussing my idea with our family lawyer, I went back to my neurologist's office. I showed them my account on Express Script's website, and how for each of the three previous prescriptions, the quantities had been altered. The office staff was very angry, because Express Scripts was deliberately altering their documents, and then calling them liars. So I said, "I would like you to write out the prescription once again, in language and handwriting so clear that even the devil and all his minions can't find a way to distort it." They laughed. I explained that I wanted to take video of them writing the prescription, showing them faxing it over, and showing the receipt when the fax was successfully sent. They agreed to my idea.
I went back home, and now I've got a new email from Express Scripts informing me that they have received a new prescription from Dr. **. I logged into my account, and it shows that the new order is being processed, but it doesn't show the quantities yet. If I were only interested in exposing them for falsifying documents or fraud, I'd have waited to see what they posted before I contacted them. But what I wanted most was my medicine! So I set up my computer to record sound and set my phone to speaker. I practiced recording a phone call to a friend to make sure it worked. Then I started recording and called Express Scripts' customer service. I told the first service representative that on the advice of our family lawyer, I was recording the phone call. I explained about the previous orders coming out inaccurately, and asked if he could do anything about it. He transferred me to a manager.
It took a long time before anyone picked up. When the manager did pick up, I informed her that I was recording the call on the advice of my lawyer. I told her that my physician had sent multiple prescriptions to their pharmacy, and that they all ended up being entered as something else. She claimed that all of the quantities shown on the website were exactly as written. I pointed out that I had a new prescription being processed and that it could be seen on the company website.
I said, "I went to my neurologist's office this morning with a camera, and I took video of the prescription as it was being written. It clearly shows the doctor writing it for 60 pills over a 90-day period, and you can hear him saying that out loud as he writes it. I shot video of them faxing it to your number, as well as the confirmation that the fax was successfully received on your end. I know that you received it, because it is shown as a pending transaction on your website. I'm giving you the chance to do the right thing. No quantities are posted yet. If anything other than the accurate amounts are posted, I will have proof that your business is engaging in fraud, and I will publish all of the screenshots from your website, the video from my neurologist's office, and the audio from our phone call on the web so the world can see how Express Scripts does business."
The manager blustered out that no one at Express Scripts would ever alter documents, and that she was absolutely certain that my doctor had made errors previously. I said, "You'd better hurry to the pharmacy, before anyone has the chance to 'accidentally' enter the wrong quantities." She put me on hold. When she returns to the phone, she tells me that the new prescription is clearly written for 60 pills for the next 90-day period. It is too bad that my doctor sent the wrong information all those times before now. I told her, "If that's how you want to play it, go ahead." She insisted that the previous prescriptions were written for 6 pills every 9 days, and to prove it, she would mail me copies of the documents. I said okay, that would be great!
This is the point where she got all kind and helpful, instead of crisp and authoritarian. "I see that there has been a break of a few weeks since you were due for a refill. Do you have enough medication to get by?" I told her "no, I did not have enough medication to get by, but because my neurologist is a kind and considerate person, he gave me several free samples to tide me over." Then she says, "How about if I expedite the shipping of your medication, free of charge, just in case you run out of samples?"
I'm trying really hard not to laugh at this point, because suddenly they can't do enough for me, and my account page just refreshed showing the correct quantity of 60 pills for the next 90 days. I say "expedited shipping would be lovely. Thank you!" Then she repeats that she will send photocopies of the first three prescriptions my neurologist sent, so I can see there was no alteration or "mistake" on the part of Express Scripts. I tell her "Sure thing! I'd absolutely love to see photocopies of them!" The manager asks me if there is anything else she can do for me today. I say as long as they do everything she's promised, we're good.
The next morning I get an expedited package delivered to my door. Almost before I've finished closing the door, the manager from Express Scripts is calling me. She's just gotten confirmation that I've signed for the package. Is everything there? Is there anything else they can do? Then - get this - she asks if it's alright to make a notation on my account for future reference. I realize she's probably writing the company equivalent of "BEWARE: lawyered up, litigious witch, shrew and harpy." But I don't care, because I've finally got my medication for the right price! She promises the photocopies will be in the mail soon.
Several days go by, and no photocopies of my original three prescriptions ever come from Express Scripts. The next time I log into my Express Scripts account, I see that all three of the previous prescriptions have been altered to 60 pills over a 90-day period. If I hadn't taken screenshots in the beginning, I would have no proof, that they had ever read differently. I can't guarantee this will work for everyone, but it did work for me this time. If you decide to try this, I will give a few warnings:
1) If you mail in your prescriptions, ask the doctor for a photocopy for your own records. That will be your proof of what was sent.
2) I don't know how many doctors will be open to the idea of their patients recording the writing of prescriptions, but if they've been burned by Express Scripts before, maybe they will be sympathetic. No one likes being called a liar, so that may help.
3) Whether you've contacted your lawyer, legal aid, or the Better Business Bureau, have their name and number handy when you make the phone call. Make sure they know you really have contacted some authority.
4) Always start off every phone call to Express Scripts by saying that you are recording the phone call on the advice of your lawyer, legal aid rep, Better Business Bureau contact, etc.
5) If you're not technically savvy, ask your children or grandchildren for help. Maybe a local student will help in exchange for a plate of baked goods. Maybe your local library can show you how to set it up. Are any of the young people in your church computer-literate? Don't be afraid to ask for help.
6) Some businesses are starting to say that they don't give you permission to record the call. KEEP ON RECORDING and DON'T SAY YOU'VE STOPPED RECORDING! United States federal law allows for one-way permission on all communications. That means as long as one side agrees, it is legal to record. That's how they can record us for their training purposes. If they can record us, we can record as well. Don't let anyone scare you into thinking you can't record any conversation you are a part of! Good luck! I hope this helps some of you get the medications you need.

On April 14, CareCredit charged our office's checking account $4450 without notifying us. When I called them, they said they suspected a fraud on that patient. Since our office did not respond to their fax requesting information sent to us the day before, they took away $4450 from our checking account. I explained to them we were closed for a week so we did not receive any fax. It did not matter. We had to pay them $4450 back although we only received $4009.

GE/Care Credit (GECC), now SYNCH/CARE CREDIT, paid a Denver dentist thousands of dollars for procedures that I've never had. After a visit to the dentist GECC began billing me for $4900, that I have no intention of paying, so of course they reported to the 3 major credit bureaus (CRA-s) that I'd defaulted on this 'balance owed' then charged off the nonexistent account and sold it to a junk debt buyer (JDB). They clearly got (were given) my information from a Cherry Creek, Denver dental group where I'd had an exam and cleaning for which I paid, immediately after the service. After the exam the dentist provided a "Dental Plan" that listed thousands of dollars worth of recommended dental work. I did not have this work done.
I received bills (not stating any services) related to the dentist and began paying thinking that perhaps they had undercharged me for the previous visit. Then I realized that I was getting billed for the what would've been the cost ($4900) of services based on the Dental Plan. What I didn't realize was that the dentist was involved in this too. I recently obtained my dental records which show dental work that I've never received. Thinking still that it was my misunderstanding I ask again for my records, this time requesting everything they have on file related to me.
The 2nd time I also received an invoice listing expensive procedures that I did not elect to have done. One of these involved a surgical procedure that includes a porcelain crown with all the "fix-ins" including nitrous oxide for sedation, all that's required to prep a tooth for a crown, and all the alleged visits these steps would've required. When I ask about this one of her staff related that the dentist required me to prove that the work wasn't done. Huh?! I'd know if I'd had surgery and a crown put in my mouth which is simple to prove with a dental exam - not, at her office of course.
The same invoice shows a lump sum payment from GECC to the dentist in the amount of $4900. The dentist and GECC colluded to charge me for the cost of a "Dental Plan" without my knowledge or consent and in spite of the fact that I hadn't agreed to the plan. I would never pay thousands of dollars in advance for dental work. No one in their right mind would do that. GECC and this dentist manufactured an account and charged me for services not rendered.
In addition to GECC's egregious credit reporting I have the delight of being stalked by the despicable JDB who purchased the 'debt' and the latter's interstate stable of franchise 'debt collectors', all of whom are passing around (and viewing) my personal information and of course harassing me endlessly by phone and letters demanding "payment in full". The JDB alleges that the balance due is now $8000. The situation is disturbing enough without knowing the fact that many of these franchise junk debt collectors hire (or are) ex-cons, many of whom were in prison for identity theft and they have complete access to extremely personal and financial consumer information.
For every 100 complaints about Care Credit's ongoing RICO activities I come across a '5-star' post exclaiming how wonderful they are. I don't doubt these are genuine. Care Credit has to spare a few suckers here and there to appear legitimate. The $34.1 million judgment awarded against SYNCH(GE)/CARE CREDIT in a 2013 Class-a lawsuit for fraud and deception says it all. But Care Credit keeps on truckin and the complaints keep flooding in. Million dollar losses in law suits are just another cost of doing business.
I know that thousands of people were deceived by their dentists and other health entities in the same manner as I. But unlike the cause for which Care Credit was successfully sued in 2013, this particular facet of their 'business model' scam has not been addressed, not to mention the thousands of health care providers who are knowingly participating in the deception at the expense of their clientele. If I even walk into an office where Care Credit is still advertised I turn around and walk out.

I originally signed up to pay for some dentistry work, as the dentist highly recommended using the service for their promotional 0% interest on repayment plans. I just recently moved and wanted to use this synchrony account in my new city, but they never mailed me a card or anything that I could use to setup the use of care credit at my new dentist. I contacted their customer support to try to obtain an account number or card, but they ended up closing the account, leaving a remark that my card had been lost or stolen, then immediately reopened the account. This has had a slight adverse effect on my credit score, as the average age of accounts has dropped, and the number of accounts has gone up.
As a young person who is trying to build their credit, this has affected me negatively. I had heard that they would close accounts due to inactivity, but never have a heard of a company closing an account because of a "lost or stolen credit card", which is false anyways, because they never sent me a card or account number in the first place. They offer interest free repayment plans, but they might unwarrantedly affect your credit score.

My monthly statements from them all of a sudden had the balance and the credit limit as the exact same number! The statements were not reflecting any of the monthly payments made nor the new balances each month. I had been making payments every month for nearly two years. The statements just started to have the credit limit and the balance AS THE EXACT SAME AMOUNT! I have been paying on this credit account for two years and not using it for any additional purchases. Seemed funny to me that all of this nonsense started very near when my promotional period will be ending.
Called Synchrony for some resolution and they just tried to push it onto the "promotional department". I got upset when they tried to do this so the "promotional department" sent my call back to the "bank". Got a letter a few days later for Synchrony saying that "the problem had been resolved". The letter did not mention what problem was or have any corrections to the balances and payments that were so screwed up. The letter was useless to me.
When I got my next statement, my promotional period had been moved from July of 2016 to July 2018. I had to call again to see why my promotional period was moved up by two years. They stated that it was because I purchased my furniture this month. I had to explain to them that the purchase was made nearly two years ago. If my balance is not paid off by July 2016 I will be penalized about $1600 in interest. I am really wondering if this bank just employs a lot of dolts or if they are trying confuse me so that I don't get the balance paid off before the promotional period and then have to pay the $1600 interest. I myself will never do business with this bank again.

Over 4 years ago we borrowed we 2000.00 for emergency dental. CareCredit, recommended highly by dentist Dr. Bruce **, Littleton. We made our payments to CareCredit regularly for one year. Dr. ** was paid immediately 2000. for the work on one tooth. Our amount due after one year only went down by 200.00. We paid a few late fees, as wife got very sick, and we could not make on time. Our payments doubled, and harassing calls began. We made double payments, but it was a revolving door, nothing went to principal. Nearly we all paid year two went to fees, interest. Also year two borrowed 550. more for emergency dental from care credit. Year three paid on regular basis, but started missing high monthly payments due to lack of money. Wife is on disability, was very ill. Spouse on retirement. All the money we paid year three went to fees.
Year four, Synchrony Bank wrote us a letter, threatening us. We paid them 328.00 then 128.00 in February of 2016. Not one cent went to the principal. All went to their fees. We cannot make these monthly fees, of 112. a month, and they MUST HAVE THIS OR THEY THREATENED TO TURN US INTO collections. After four years balance due after paying 500 in Feb. 2100.00. We have to go without food in order to pay this bank, credit agency. They refuse to go lower on monthly payment and if they did we would still be paying fees, not principal. We figure 2000. went to fees, and the principal is still 2000 after four years. TO BOOT dentist who fixed wife's dental emergency, did incorrectly, tooth broke, and Dentist would not reimburse the 2000.00 for damaged tooth, that now needed additional work, and an oral surgeon to dig out root and take care of infection.
After Donna had this done, a must, there was no money for a replacement tooth. Therefore two other teeth broke off, as the gap left the side teeth vulnerable. Then after the two break one other tooth breaks. Now Donna needs four teeth replaced and yet we still owe the synchrony bank 2100.00. Dr Bruce ** refuses to pay Donna back, he does give her a flimsy flipper, that you cannot eat with. It broke after one month. Dentist recommends super glue. This was a joke, did no good whatsoever. Dr. Bruce ** retires. Why we were late in first place is Donnas emergency tooth Dr ** supposedly fixed became infected and another 400. goes to an oral surgeon. Synchrony bank takes advantage of us again, charging us 500 in fees, month of February, not one penny toward principal. It has been awful. Just downright unjust. We have nowhere to turn and are in need of help. Justice is the root of Gods law, and without help we won't get justice.
Sure we were willing to pay our debt, rightfully so, but when we were in a bind, no mercy was given just more fees, and threatening calls and letters. It is so depressing, I can't even explain it. Wife is so saddened with four teeth missing, and her esteem is down in the dumps. Dr. Bruce **, who retired after all of this, one year ago, totally ripped off Donna and David **, leaving her in a more desperate state than when she came to him for help four years ago. If the work was done right in the first place money could have gone to care credit other than an oral surgeon. Dr. ** so highly recommended Care credit to us, he said they were so kind and good to the patients. Wrong, it is all about fees and interest. No compassion.
After four long years we still owe Synchrony bank 2000.00 and they threaten us if we miss a payment off we go to collections. I don't know if anything can be done in regards to Dr. Bruce **, but I believe action of some sort can be taken with Synchrony bank, if we do the math right, once it's all said and done, without some help we will have paid them over 5000. to 6000. with their high interest and late fees if there will need to be late payments. Respectively, David ** and Donna **. Donna is on Disability and David is retired works part time 10 hrs week as janitor.

I didn't think I'd qualify because I'd lost my job, house and all credit in bankruptcy... So everything I do is on a cash basis. The approval was immediate. An unsolicited Discount Tire credit card was issued by Synchrony Bank, it was good at Exxon & Mobil gas stations. The card was never used. So imagine my surprise when I received an extremely nasty, unsigned form letter dated 01/25/16 - "Based upon your credit score & not upon your history with Synchrony Bank" Synchrony Bank CLOSED the unsolicited account... I assumed that every payment I was making was going toward the balance with the promotional balance that ends the soonest so as to avoid a large add on of interest. I made a $150 payment and only $43 was applied to the promotional balance ending the soonest (in 2 months). I spoke with customer service and the representative's manager who confirms that their practice is to apply however much they determine to the promotional balance ending the soonest. I was informed that I could make a payment and then call the same day to request all of my payment be allocated to the soonest ending promotion.
I can make a payment by telephone when I call but this will cost an additional $10. I was informed that if I did not like the terms, I could cancel my card after my balance is paid off. They would not make a note on my account that I wished for my next payment to be allocated the soonest ending promotion and stated that I had to call the same day as the payment is made.

I have had Care Credit for years. I used it to get my dentures and hearing aid. I called the insurance that I have had on them because I have had a loss of income. The insurance (Account Security) said that they did not cover loss of Disability income or loss of Child Support, which was what I lost. I was so upset. I have been paying them $49.05 per month for years! (Since around 2008) I have always made EVERY payment up until now.
The next day, the same lady called me back and told me that they would be refunding me all my payments! I couldn't believe it! What a Christmas present! I called Care Credit and told them the situation, and that a refund would be coming. The 'agent' who answered said that it would be fine if I skipped the December payment. She said she would make a note about the refund.
January I started getting emails and phone calls stating I was past due. I called again and told them about the refund. Again they said that it would be fine, that the refund (Which turned out to be $2730.75 when my balance was $3300 +) would act as payment, and I could resume payments with my late January 2016 bill. Again, I got a phone call and an email. I called again. I agreed that I would pay the late fees, but I couldn't pay until February 8, 2016 but I could pay $50. The 'agent' again agreed and said she was making a note.
Today, January 26, 2016, I got another email. I was very frustrated. The minimum balance due is now over $313.00, it says I am three months past due on a balance of a little over $600 (it was a little over $500 before fees). I called AGAIN! This time I asked the 'agent' to get me a supervisor. Roger was his name. I told him everything, and that the refund should have posted as a payment and not a 'debt cancellation' because I had paid the premiums. I explained everything else, including the agreement to pay $50 on the 8th of February.
He would not budge on anything. He stated that even if I paid the $50 it would not meet the 'minimum balance'. He would not accept the refund as a payment either. I asked him to explain REPEATEDLY why his 'agents' told me it was okay, when it wasn't. He was SILENT. He would not explain. I asked him to listen to the recorded messages of my calls to his agents and he said it would not matter then went silent again. I finally got so frustrated that I swore, and he told me, "Have a good day, ma'am" and hung up on me. Does anyone know how I can do something about this? I am trying to raise my credit. It just got to the 620's and now it will look horrible. I went from an income of $5000 a month to $1600 a month. I was TRYING to work with them, promising the $50 payment. He wouldn't even TRY!!! My problem with this bank is that I make extra payments and manage my due dates in order to avoid paying interest and I noticed that the payments are not being apply to the promo balances that are about to become due soon but rather applied to promos that are not due for a year or more.
What bothers me is that why if I am paying much more than the minimum payment is this company not applying to the promo balances that are due soon to avoid charging me interest? I mean I am doing my part of the deal, on time payments, paying extra, what is wrong with the picture? I thought the law was to first apply payment to the balances that which promo are ending first? I think this needs to be reported to the CFPB for review. Then I am not able to speak to a representative, only on limited hours. I am sure they cannot afford to pay employees to take complaints all day and every day. I am surprised how much is still going on even after companies are being told to follow guidelines that do not steal from consumers.

This response is directed to GE CareCredit otherwise known as G. E. Capital Retail Bank who then transferred to Synchrony Bank. When you come to Scottsbluff, NE to render a judgment in your favor, you had better have proof of the certified registered receipt and the signature confirmation. This includes a copy of the summons and complaint. That also includes proof of service of a copy of the summons and complaint. I was not notified of this action in 2013 and this is in violation of my due process rights pursuant to the Constitution and International Law. Asking for a social security number over the phone is in violation of the Social Security Act subsection 208, section 8. Go read that. That is why account numbers are used other than the social security number. A person cannot be compelled to give out their SSN under Title 18, subsection 242 under the "Color of Law". There is no law and a requirement to do so under Title 18, subsection 242. Go read that as well. This situation took a very long time to resolve a relatively simple matter and quite frankly, I will never do any business with this entity again. This matter is not resolved until I can fully concur that my credit reports have been corrected. In addition, the only entity that should ask for the SSN is the Social Security Administration itself. That's it-Period. This has been upgraded to a two-star rating instead of a one-star rating.

Contacted Synchrony Bank on 12/7/2015 in regards to correcting my credit reports due to a Montgomery Wards credit cards that was paid in full over 15 years ago. This item was disputed in 2009 and somehow this item was added back on to all 3 major credit reports in 2015. In addition, when one contacts this office in Orlando, FL, the automated line requires one to disclose your entire social security number in order to gain access to a live agent and financial information. Due to all of the data breaches that have transpired, lack of concern for personal financial information, and failure to correct my credit reports as requested will result in not disclosing my social security number-Period. I don't ask for their bank account number(s) and they do not need to have access to my social security number. That is why they have utilized an account number on the credit reports other than a social security number.
The account number listed on the credit report cannot be utilized as a way to access a live agent to resolve this matter. They are not a government agency and therefore, cannot ask for your entire social security number, which is not respecting my rights under the following laws: Identity Theft and Assumption Act of 1998, HIPAA PrivacyAct, Right to Financial Privacy Act of 1978 under Chapter 35 (12 U. S. C. under code 3401 et. seq to include 3402 and 3403 (a.), Privacy Act of 1974, Omnibus Reconciliation Act, Social Security Act under 42 (U. S. C. 1396), Truth in Lending Act, Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act. They cannot use the Freedom of Information Act as an excuse to obtain personal and financial information without my prior written consent and authorization. Also, they cannot use the Freedom of Information Act as an excuse to disclose personal and financial information without my prior written consent.
Due to lack of knowledge of these laws regarding protection of sensitive personal information and putting my information at risk for identity theft related issues they will not ask for an entire social security number. This also includes failure to correct credit reports as requested back in 2009. Advice: Know the laws regarding correct usage of the social security number and disclosure. A right that is not exercised is a right that is lost. Use the laws as a bargaining tool to remove derogatory information off of the credit reports to include Innovis. Check the statutes of limitations in your state before sending your letter and apply the law accordingly.

For convenience I initially used CareCredit for a dentistry bill. All went fine with my automatic monthly payment through my bank with the first payment on 2/24/25. No interest, no late fees. Great program, I thought. After it was paid on 4/16/15 I again used it for my husband's new glasses on 5/1/15 through Eye Specialists of Florida. I set up a similar payment schedule with my bank for the glasses, earlier pay date with different monthly amount, of course. The pay date was set up on the 21st to sync with my Social Security income, just like I set up for major credit cards. I paid $55 (over twice the minimum payment) on 5/21/15, 20 days after the purchase, & before I received my first statement. I received no late payment notices by mail or email.
Before Synchrony Bank took over for GE Capital, I schedule the payments for the initial purchase for the 24th of each month. According to the CareCredit rep, they do not change the due date after the initial charge. But they changed it to the 17th, which I had not been aware of, & all the $55 payments were scheduled by me to be paid on the 21st, resulting in $158 in late fees! In my mind I was thinking "Credit card - worked well last time - earlier pay date - all set up with my bank- paid ahead" & just skimmed over the email statements. I thought all was well until I realized that their balance was much different than mine. I scrutinized the statements & found that over a 6 month period I was charged $158 in late fees!
I promptly called them & was able to have $90.29, all but $67.71 of the outstanding balance, waived, setting the balance to zero, but that did not cover all of the overpayments/late charges. They will not refund me nearly $67.71 in overpayments. I called CareCredit's customer service again, after I realized that they were keeping part of the overpayment. The initial statement for the glasses included a 5/21/15 $55 payment that was not even due till the following month but, according to them, that early $55 payment did not count as payment for the next month, nor did any part of the subsequent double-minimum monthly $55 payments. Therefore a $25-$39 late fee was applied each month. I should be fully reimbursed the outstanding overpayment of $67.71 in late fees/interest charges. These practices are outrageous!

I will take responsibility for not reconciling the amounts and making sure it all added up. I just saw that payments were being withdrawn from my account each month. Since I thought that it was automatically being withdrawn to pay off the balance within the period, I didn't think I had to worry about it.
My fault! But I want others to be careful. They were not withdrawing equal amounts to pay off the balance. And since I didn't pay it off within the promotional period because of this, I was charged interest. A lot of interest!!! The wording they used on the forms when I signed up is inconsistent with what they do. And it is your responsibility to make sure they are withdrawing the correct amounts. This is how they make their money. And they are not easy to deal with and/or talk to. I had to call multiple times and explain to multiple people my situation. Would NEVER use this company again. Needless to say, I did qualify but for only $500. I was going to see a NP at this ortho office and she basically was trying to get samples of everything for me (she was truly my angel at that time) and she also got samples of the cartilage type shots that I had to get 3 each of that were $100 a piece! So, long story short, i used this card for whatever I needed at the doctors' offices I went to as long as I made sure I could pay. Well, I did, on many occasion (because I was only working 20 hours / minimum wage) a week. I could hardly afford much and had to pay the minimum amount each month.
So, fast forward to mid-summer 2015. I had not used the card for quite a while BUT always paying the minimum to pay the card off. I did so about 6 months ago. So, say August of this year, I receive this letter from Synchrony bank stating they closed my account for, as they put it "Derogatory Public Record or Collection Filed." So, even though I had paid THEM their money EVERY stinking month, never missing, never late, they take it upon themselves to cancel my card (which I did plan on using to get a cataract done this month!) because, according to them, I had a collection somewhere else, with someone else (which was by error with my bank and a separate company that I did fix right away!) and now I have no card.
I have had that card for 10+ years, ALWAYS paying, but they do this? They list some address I can write to if I disagreed. Helloooooo, YES I disagreed! Of course, I have written 2 times, never again hearing or seeing anything from them. This company is a complete rip-off for those who really are looking for help, even if it is temporary. I made the payment today, but the due date is tomorrow... meaning my payment will appear as late. So, I called, explained my dilemma and was basically told they could do nothing.
I had to wait until a late fee had already been posted and then I could call to protest. There was nothing they could do to avoid it. In this day and age, that is total **. THEIR system was down 3 days ago when I tried to make my payment, but now I am going to be charged a $35 late fee. NO BUENO!! I am grateful to have had this service to help my best dog friend, but I now believe they take advantage of those who are desperate. I will keep you informed of how this late fee charge pans out, but I am not hopeful.
BTW, my dog, Peanut, has fully recovered from his surgery and is doing well. Without CreditCare, I don't know what would have become of my best friend. That does not excuse the crappy customer service.

I signed up for the Amazon card. But never received a physical card, never had a statement, online or by mail. I believe this is a business model that preys on people's inertia. Those that don't closely check their balances, statements and charges, therefore making fantastic amounts of money in charges, never disputed. I have had my charges refunded and have closed my account. I urge you to do the same.

I got a CareCredit card in May 2015 to use at the vets when a pet needed urgent care. I knew the rates were high. I also was given a promotional deal that when you charge over $200 there is no interest if paid in full within six months. My very first charge was $203. I had two more charges, each under $100, during the months after the first charge. During the sixth month, before the promo deal ended I checked my account online to make sure all was going well. Even though I had paid $205 on the promo charge of $203 the website said I was still past due $21 dollars. I called and was told some of my payments went to pay on subsequent charges.
I quickly fixed that problem. I told her I was not told some of my payments would be used to pay later charges nor did I agree to this. By doing this CareCredit was making it impossible to honor the terms of the promo deal and would end up getting interest because I didn't pay it off on time. She fixed it by putting all the money I've paid thus far toward the promotional deal and I was able to avoid paying interest. Had I not called in time it would have cost me, but I'm glad customer service responded well.

Today the company's website is under maintenance and they go to the extent to say that you can make a payment with the customer service line @ 1-866-419-4096 but when I called the number I was on hold for more than 47 minutes and I decided to hang up because I have used that time I wasted to get something else done. It's very frustrating when the company says something but fails to keep up with their word. The message on the website does not say how long the site will be under maintenance which is just not right. I guess they expect you to check their website 5-10 times a day to see when it's up and running.

Misleading. Customer service is awful. Obviously sourced out of the U.S. service. Reps continuously disconnect you, causing frustration and if you are I'll, unable to deal with runaround. Late fees are so high and they did not want to work with you to have it adjusted (no fault if you are hospitalized due to accident). Terrible.

I have several accounts that were formerly managed by GE Captial that has now been taken over by Synchrony Bank. Synchrony Bank is lowering your previous credit limit to at or below your current balance and in some cases lower than your previous limit to charge fees. By lowering your credit limit they take your card to maxed out which then lowers your credit limit and begins a vicious cycle of lowering your limits further. They need to be investigated.

This is absolutely the worst company and the lowest level of customer service received. I called to get my account number so that I could pay off my loan and the agent would not give me the account number. Her solution was to send me a new credit card so that I could get a new account number. I offered repeatedly to answer all of the necessary "security" questions to confirm my identity, but to no avail. This company needs to improve exponentially in order to even get a chance to provide me with consumer credit services in the future. I do not recommend this to Synchrony Financial or their CareCredit dental/medical loan services to anyone. Beware!!!

I purchased furniture from Rooms To Go in which Synchrony financed. The 1st bill was $25; therefore, I figured the monthly bill would be $25 unless I added something else to the account. I set up recurring payments for $25. The following month, the $25 posted to the account then a few days later I received an email stating $6 was past due. I retrieved the bill online. Apparently the bill increased to $31. Not sure why because no additional purchases. I immediately called Synchrony and explained the mixup and requested the late fee to be removed because at that point the balance due was $64 which included $25 late fee, $6 past due and the current amount due $33.
Notice the balance due went from $25 to $33, no additional purchases... Nevertheless, the agent agreed to remove the late and I paid the $6. Wonderful, now all is due is $33 right? Wrong... The $25 late fee was removed from the entire balance, but not the balance due, resulting in $58 due. I was told I would have to pay the $58. This is ridiculous... Why? The late fee was added in the monthly amount; therefore, should be deducted from that amount. I am paying off this card immediately as this company is a ripoff! Also, the agent states the minimum amount due will increase monthly even with no additional charges.

I have 9 store credit cards that I've had for over 20 years with some of the stores, and all were closed without any notification in writing or letter. I had to file chapter 13 due to a very messy divorce (I was ordered to purchase and make payments to my ex for a house that was all in his name). So to protect myself from this I filed but my credit score is still in the fair range. I kept my store cards because I had frequently used them for rewards but I always had paid on time and 0 to low balances. This is not fair since I've been with some of these store cards for years! I can see if I was a risk but since they were not on the chapter 13 and I was in great standing why should they be cancelled?

I have had several accounts with Synchrony Financial (Formerly GE Capital). I have a 730 Fico, no lates, and they lower my credit limit every time I make a payment to just about the balance. Currently the only accounts I have left with them is a PayPal and Amazon Store, and they BOTH will be closed as soon as I close on my house. I am currently livid, and my mortgage is in underwriting, and if this causes a problem, I will be taking a lot further recourse. If it does not, as soon as the loan closes, I am shutting down ANY accounts I have with Synchrony Financial and will stay far away. DO NOT GET ANY ACCOUNT WITH THEM. It is not worth the hassle. This particular card started at a 2,000 limit, and is not at 250! I have others that range from 3200 to 5000 that have little or no balance. Why does Synchrony Financial do this? Poor, poor business practice.

I returned to the U.S several years ago after being out of the country working for several years and finally checked my credit report and found I had a Charge-Off from Synchrony/JCPenney from a credit card that had been opened while I was out of the country working. I tried calling Synchrony many, many times trying to get information and report it as a fraudulent account and was told by their customer service employees that they had no information to give me and that the account was originally serviced by GE Money and they never received anything from them when they took over the account. They told me that I had to contact the Collection agency Midland Funding and that if there was any paperwork to Validate the Debt, they would have it.
I started sending Debt Validation letters to both Synchrony and Midland Funding in April of this year (2015) and neither company responded as required by U.S Federal law. Finally, when I hired an attorney to sue Midland for failure to validate the debt and for illegally reporting false information to the credit reporting agencies, they immediately contacted me and notified me that they indeed did not have the information to Validate the Debt and that I was no longer responsible for the debt and they would contact all 3 credit reporting agencies and remove the false information.
Synchrony on the other hand is the worst company I have ever had to deal with in my entire life. They are continuing to report the debt even though they cannot even validate it and they have yet to respond to even one of my debt validation letters and they do not care that they have no records to back up their claims and yet they continue to illegally report false and negative information. They will not even give me any information how to contact their legal department to serve them for lawsuit. It's pretty bad that this country lets crooked companies like Synchrony operate and it is really sad that you have to resort to hiring an attorney. I recommend you stay far, far away from this company and any of the store Credit Cards they service like JCPenney and Walmart. Sadly, they do not operate within the law, no care if they hurt innocent people with their illegal and fraudulent reporting.

Was charged a late charge because I paid my bill early. Can't pay the bill before the billing cycle ends they said. Makes no sense. I had already made another payment before the billing cycle ended and ask if I would get another late charge. Yes, I would, but they could refund the payment I had just made and I could make it again after the billing cycle ended. Agreed to that.
They just forgot to tell me that the refund would be like a new charge on the credit card and my monthly payment would go up by $12.00. I made one payment at the increased rate and noticed that they had added a $2.00 charge. I didn't call to ask what it was for because I didn't care at this point. I just paid the balance off. Can't wait to see if they try to charge me for paying it off. Bad bank with questionable tactic. I will never use any credit card that goes thru this bank. Just realized that my JCPenney account uses this bank so won't be using that card anymore.

Synchrony took over GE Financial and it's been amazing how they treat their customers.
1) Without warning, they cancel my Walmart account and stated that I had a payment returned... I was out of the country and there was a bank mixup. I actually made the payment difference 3 days later once I returned but I got a letter 2 weeks later stating my account was closed.
2) I noticed that my credit for Amazon had reduced by more than half. I called to inquire and was told that Synchrony made the decision (without notice) due to my credit score. The ridiculous part of that is my credit score is actually pretty good. As a matter of fact, my score is more than a 100 pts higher than when I first got credit with Amazon with no negatives in a couple years.
I will never apply for credit with any business associated with Synchrony and I will actively avoid doing business with them as well.

I have tried at least a dozen times for different credit cards with Synchrony Bank over the past three years... Each time with a denial. My credit is rebuilding (avg score 600). I have been approved for three cards with Comenity Bank & two personal loans & an auto loan but this bank does not seem to like me very much. I have never had an account with them that has went negative... In fact years ago I had a Walmart credit card that I was a joint applicant on and it was always in good standing and eventually closed by our decision. I guess Synchrony Bank has way too many customers and can afford to be extremely picky. I will make this promise to them though... Even if I get my credit up to 800 I will never apply for another credit card with them. After seeing all the complaints on different websites about the bank that even makes my decision easier to stand by.

We bought a 4600.00 bed and signed up for a Syncrony 12 month no interest account. After 9 months, there was a 99.00 balance at the end of July. We never received another bill as of today 10/05/15. Their collection dept. called this morning and I was connected to Customer Service. They told me that the Postal Service returned both the Aug. and Sept. bills, even though we received the previous 9 monthly bills with no problem. Even after admitting it was their fault, they couldn't assure me that I wouldn't be charged for going past the promo deadline after they sent the bill in 7-10 days, and I responded with the final payment to them before 10/18/15. It forced me to pay by debit card today. Smells like scam to me to mysteriously not get the final bill. I wonder how many people got burned by this unscrupulous practice. I know I almost was, I thought I must have paid it off. I never got another bill from them for two months.

It has been a nightmare with my Banana Republic card ever since spring of 2014 when they switched my regular card to a Visa; I take it this was when BR switched to Synchrony- I have had so many issues since. The first was that the card was not linked to my online account and they had 2 separate accounts set up and neither reflected an accurate balance. The bank will call 2-4 times a day to reach me- I believe this is considered harassment. A few times I have gone to pay for things, zero balance on my card only to be told that my card was being declined and I would need to contact customer service. One month I was attempting to pay my bill online and could not log in. They said I needed to call them asap. I did and they said they had turned off my online account because I had not picked up my phone to "verify my address"; yet I was paying my bills on time and had verified my address 3 months before.
A month or so ago they sent me another new card and I have yet to set it up- now they are calling me multiple times every day while I am typically at one of my 2 jobs. I was getting statements for $0. Now suddenly I got an email saying I owe $400+ yet when I log on, each account shows $0 balance, as it should be because I have refused to shop there anymore. They have lowered my balance and when I opened a GAP card they charged me a late fee without ever sending me my first bill (that the CSR did reverse). Now a second Banana account shows up in my online account that I have not activated- the new card. I know this is messing up my credit and no one will get back to me via email. Enough is enough, too many people are going through this. They seem to target those who pay off their cards quickly and don't spend a lot; they don't really want our accounts because they are not making money. For shame.
