SmartAsset is a lead generation platform that is reliable. The service has worked all right. They’ve provided the lead amounts that they promised and they’ve delivered on expectations that they’ve set upfront. Lead generation’s never perfect but it’s delivered above average leads.

SmartAsset has given me some leads and I have connected with a couple of people. I haven’t gotten any business from it yet but I have had folks respond and follow up with questions. So, it’s more than not getting anything at all.
It’s a different take on cold calling. The cold calls are given to you instead of actually going out and knocking on doors. But I expected that we will be given names of people that match our profile and we will try to contact them and see if they were interested. You have to put some work into it, so I’m not sure if it’s for everybody. But so far, my experience with them has been good.

We were with SmartAsset for two years but we’ve terminated our agreement. The price was fine but the service didn’t really work. I learned that you get what you pay for. So we were really better off paying more money for a better service.

We’ve been using SmartAsset for three months. So far, we’re not surprised by the results. On a scale of 1 to 10, it’s a 5 or 6. We would like better quality leads but it’s a hit and miss situation. For the most part, we’re getting people that generally fit the profile that we had added up for. It could be better, but we’re still paying and we’re not worried about it.
We’re paying two grand a month so it’s a little bit more expensive than I would like, but time will tell if it’s worth it. As for customer service, there’s not much necessary but when my daughter needed someone, she got one on the phone and it’s been fine. So far, so good.

The quality of service is about a B- and it could be better. But our account representative was very good with on-boarding. He provided tools and clarity and stayed with us for good service. We went with SmartAsset to get qualified leads, and we got quality leads.

The initial onboarding process with SmartAsset was very smooth, communicative, informative and timely in responses. Some ongoing communication between my account manager has been a little slower than I would like. But I've been able to get what I need out of them. I'm trying to grow my business and SmartAsset’s service has been good.
Within the first year, I'm in a positive cash flow standpoint based off the cost. This is the first endeavor into marketing and lead generation that I've ever done. I had a couple of colleagues join the service as well, one of whom has had much more experience with other lead generation services out there and he seems to like the SmartAsset platform. The email campaign that was debt sales is very well-built and well-orchestrated. It allows me to be hands off as the DRIP campaign takes place.

Their service has been good, overall. I've made money on the platform. So, I'm happy with it. I’ve been with them for 6 months now and some leads are kind of hit or miss, but the ones that hit are good.

I was looking for a marketing system that pushes qualified leads to me, the main base. And the only complaint I have is that SmartAsset pushes the lead to multiple advisers, so it's like a competition to get to the potential client first. It's hit or miss with the leads. It can be very high quality, but it has a very low close rate, which is not unlike any other type of lead service.
There's a rep assigned to me, and I reach out to them for inquiries. In the past, it was difficult to communicate with them. You get bounced around. But it’s a little better now. People must be willing to spend the money to get the return on investment. And sometimes the return on investment is not immediately apparent. It takes a while so it can be fairly costly out of pocket until you see that break-even or better. So, it's beneficial, but over a period of time. Certainly, not immediately.

I was curious for extra opportunities, so I decided to give their services a try. The way SmartAsset operates for me has its ups and downs. It's helpful when it generates extra business – any additional leads help, even if it's not something I rely on monthly. I describe its effectiveness as a mixed bag similar to a C+ rating, business-wise.
I've had a good handful that have worked out, but, still majority are a good chunk that haven't, which, is part of things of how it is. One thing that’s aggravating is we'll get double leads sometimes, and it's outside of the 60-day window. So, they're not able to be refunded. There are some leads that I've got that are gonna be long-term, good clients. But again, I also get some duds in there. But it's definitely helped my business.

I’ve been with Smart Asset for three years now. I don't really require much service from them. But when I do, it's okay. The real-life person that I work with is a lot better than the automated. If I have to send a message and get a response back, a lot of times, I have to just go back to the contact that I have and get things sorted out that way.

I used SmartAsset for client acquisition. Setting everything up was painless. Unfortunately, I get these repeat leads, and I keep having to pay for them over and over again. They're dead-end leads and I spoke with my relationship manager about them, and he said there was nothing that could be done.

SmartAsset reached out to us and it was also advertised on Edward Jones. Personally, I've seen it as a kind of, if we can get some things in the door, then that's great, any little bit extra. It's nothing that I bank on each month. But anything in addition to what we're doing is great. Overall, I would probably give it business-wise, standing of profitability and things of that nature, a C+, B- kind of range. I've had a good handful of leads that have worked out, but, still majority, are a good chunk that haven't, which, is part of things of how it is. Some people fill it out not knowing what they're filling out, and then others are actually interested looking for things.
The one thing that's aggravating is we'll get double leads sometimes, and it's outside of that 60-day window. And they're just kind of duds. We know that they are, but it's outside of that. They're not able to be refunded. I feel like the questions that are asked are good information that give us to go into. I've got the warm and the cold leads, if they're on the line. So, that works out pretty well for me. When I'm available, I like that aspect of it. If I'm not available, I don't get charged that warm leads amount. Those are good things and just a couple small areas to improve on.

I was a new adviser looking for lead generation, and door-knocking was hard. I did it for a while and had some success with both. A lot of things happened, but I stuck with it because if you get one or two good clients a year, it can be worth what you pay for some of those leads. With SmartAsset. I’ve not been the best communicator with the people I work with since we have a lot going on at our branch, but the new rep has been great. Bailey’s doing a good job and seems to focus on what I and our branch need.
We got a lot of leads but working in the $250K to million-dollar range, you’re looking at about a 10% client conversion rate, and you have to know that going in. I came from car sales, where cold calling was more like one out of 80. If I were paying closer attention, it could probably be closer to 30% or 40%, and I put some of that on myself.
I wish there were a better way to analyze the data on how many leads are being contacted. And if they’re not, there’s a flag that says to call and ask what’s going on, and make sure that it’s worth it or that’s the right leads that they’re getting. Bailey didn't do that but she called and we had a conversation about that. So, that's gotten better. In 2024, I almost got rid of SmartAsset until I talked to someone else. There was nothing wrong with the previous person. It just wasn’t a good fit for our business. It fits a little better now, but SmartAsset is not one of our strongest sources for leads or referrals.

Another advisor had told me about SmartAsset. I actually ended up doing it with him last year, and it went pretty well. Most recently, it hasn’t been. There’s been some issues with getting fax machines or invalid email. It’s been a little confusing.
The service is good, but the quality of the leads has gone down significantly. I feel that 75% of the leads we get are asking about trusts or building a will, which we don’t do as advisors. I don’t know why three-quarters of the leads ask for that. I don’t know if it’s marketed that way, but it’s definitely an issue for us in our business.
The team from SmartAsset is great. And last year, the leads were fantastic, and we got a lot of business from it. This year, there have been a lot more people asking about trusts, a lot more fax machines or invalid emails. A lot of them were telling me they were unaware that people would call them. It hasn’t been great lately.

I started using SmartAsset about five months ago to get access to my demographic. And we’ve been very happy with it. We are advisors of LPL, so we have ties to our CRM. And we were able to reach out via phone, plus have email campaigns, touch points with our potential prospects. The quality of the service is better than expected.

I’ve been using SmartAsset’s services to develop my business and grow my firm, and it’s been good. No complaints. I will say their sales process trying to get me to sign up was pretty aggressive, but since I became a client, it’s been smooth. Semi-annual check-ins from an account representative to let me know how I’m doing or how I can further improve would be helpful. But I’ve been with them for 10 months and I’ve done quarterly evaluations to see if it has made any difference and so far, so good.

About five years ago, I was googling for calculators and SmartAsset had them. The service has worked poorly so far. The problem is, the average lead coming through is a do-it-yourself investor who is using calculators to attempt to do it themselves. And they either want free advice or don't want any because they do it themselves. I did talk to numerous people, I don't know how they’re getting them to fill out these applications, but the one guy told me most recently that it’s a little bit shiesty. I told him I don't really know how that's possible. But he said that it does come off as unsuspected. Maybe I just misunderstood.

We were trying to get more prospect flow with our business and we were successful with SmartAsset’s services. They did better than we expected. It'd be great, however, if they qualified the leads a little bit better, but other than that, what they told me to expect was pretty much what we've gotten.

SmartAsset is on an approved list of vendors with my broker-dealer, and I sought their services. Working with them is fairly straightforward and easy. For the most part, they’ve met my needs. The quality of service from SmartAsset was probably about what they estimated it would be in terms of the ability to reach the leads I get. They should screen the leads a little bit better, though. Some of these people don't seem to understand that they're answering the questions in order to get matched with a local adviser. It’s a little pricey, but it works if you give it the time and do the follow-up. The follow-up on the side of the adviser is really important.

Brandon already had SmartAsset before I started. I've answered some of the live calls and gotten information, and was able to set up the quick initial call between him and the client. My experience so far has been positive.

One of my friends had success with Smart Asset, so I thought I'd give it a shot. My only concern is that it seems like all the leads that we get come in the beginning of the month. They're all concentrating in the first couple of weeks, so it makes me believe that maybe some of these leads are not real-time leads. They’re maybe leads from a week or two weeks ago. But I just started using it 4 months ago.

My experience with SmartAsset's services has been a mixed bag. While I managed to secure a few client appointments, the overall yield hasn't met expectations. Over the past three months, I've received approximately 23 referrals. However, some clients explicitly requested not to be contacted, and others reported multiple calls due to their information being shared with multiple advisors.
As a result, I've only been able to secure appointments with about four clients. A significant drawback is the competition among other advisors for the same leads, which undermines the exclusivity one might expect when paying $284 per lead. There is no reimbursement for unreachable leads, which adds to the frustration as it's challenging to contact leads immediately during other ongoing commitments.
I started with a budget of $1500 a month, but due to the lack of returns, I've since reduced it to the minimum at $600, intending to cancel the service after my initial six months. Personally, I'd rate my overall experience with SmartAsset at a 2. The enthusiasm is somewhat dampened by the feeling of competing for shared leads and a low conversion rate from referrals to appointments.
However, I must commend their customer service, deserving a full 5 stars. My account manager is responsive, and whenever I've reached out via email or phone, they've provided excellent support, showcasing stellar service. The customer service quality arguably contributes to retaining subscribers.
Considering the cost, I would again rate it as a 2. Given the price per lead, the expectation is higher for more qualified and ready-to-engage referrals. Overall, my journey with SmartAsset has been a blend of highs in customer service and lows in lead generation effectiveness.

I've used SmartAsset one other time a few years ago. I secured one new client so far, and the quality of service that I've got from everybody has been good. However, it's hard to get people on the phone. You can never get ahold of 80% of the people.

We were looking to purchase qualified leads for investment management. We've been paired up with a few people that have become clients. So, the conversion rates are on par with what SmartAsset told us to expect. They're always responsive if we need assistance. If I have any questions or am confused about things, it's quick to set up a call and iron out any details. So, I've been happy with their service. Vanessa is the rep I've been working with. She's been really good. SmartAsset is good to work with. They've got great service. They're transparent. There are a lot of leads that you can get. You're not gonna be talking to anybody, but there's still good opportunity with the people that they do send you. It's, so far, been worth the cost.

I have a good relationship with Anthony, my direct SmartAsset guy, and I enjoy our meetings. We used to meet monthly, but now it’s every couple of months. I could always bring this to his attention and he would adjust. If I were to send him an email or try calling, he's always been quick to respond. I’m not closing a ton of the deals, but I’m also focused on other areas of growth in my practice and not calling on the leads immediately. Overall, SmartAsset's service is great and decent.
When I first started in December and January, I would call the leads immediately after receiving them. As the months progressed, I shifted to a once-a-week prospecting approach and began expanding other areas of my practice. SmartAsset was my primary prospecting tool, so I allocated much more of my time to it. I’m still using it, but I’m not as diligent or putting in as much time as I did at the beginning. I closed two deals on SmartAsset early in the process and a lot of it has to do with my building out more of a methodical action by setting aside time more than I have been lately.
If I need to be more organized and say that on Tuesdays and Thursdays, I'll spend four hours out of each day to call SmartAsset leads, I feel very comfortable that I'd probably close 10 clients a year on that, maybe even a little less, because Anthony switched me to a higher net tier but lower flow of leads, which is fine. I asked him for that and he delivered. Maybe I only closed six of them, but if they're all million-dollar deals, that's humongous to my practice. So, I'm in a good space.
I would prefer more Phoenix-based ZIP code leads rather than rural leads, though. I’ve been getting a lot of leads from places like Prescott and Tucson, which are out of my immediate area. I’m also getting feedback from prospects that they want someone local. From an outside perspective, everything in Arizona may seem local, but it’s not. Some of the leads I call say they don’t even know why they have my information. If the service were at a five-tier, like setting direct appointments, that would be nice. But four is pretty solid. Setting direct appointments might improve the process, but that would likely require access to our schedules and additional coordination.

My wife started using SmartAsset seven or eight years ago, and I began in January. Primarily, we sought their services to expand our business, as they offer a prospecting lead source.
The service has been of high quality. Despite some turnover in account managers, which is expected everywhere, the staff have consistently provided excellent support. We find great value for our money. Notably, the software platform provided by SmartAsset for managing incoming leads is outstanding, and the customer support has been good. While the service isn't inexpensive, there's certainly a worthwhile ROI for our investment.
In terms of ratings, I’d definitely give them five stars overall. Using their website has been a great experience – it’s smooth, efficient, and easy to navigate. Though my rating for it is a high five, if allowed, it would be a ten!

We're still using SmartAsset's program and the experience has been good. We get at least one new client from it a month. We really like getting the leads. The only downside is that they get given to so many people. SmartAsset is a good way to grow your business if you don't have a good natural network around you.

I've heard about SmartAsset from another colleague of mine who used them and got involved with them. It's been a good experience, so far.
They put people with me based on credentials and best fit. And they also allow the client to get a second and third opinion from different advisers. And I think that's fair. The clients should make sure that they're picking the advisor that they feel most comfortable with because the clients that I have on-boarded using the service have just been really good about saying, ''I talked to the other guys and I like you the most.''
I’ve been using them since October of last year and for me, SmartAsset does a really good job of helping people understand the process. They are very quick once they complete the paperwork to get an advisor with them. And sometimes they don't realize how quickly SmartAsset is gonna try to get a client for them. But according to the steps when you're going through the prompts, they say they're gonna try to pair you with three people they feel match the criteria you're looking for, and make sure that you're getting taken care of, and that you have options.
I'm very satisfied. It's cool and simple.
