We tried to refinance our home with Bank of America. They wouldn't help us at all. Told us we couldn't refinance because our house wasn't worth what we owed, so we tried to get a loan modification. While going through all of the process Bank of America sold our loan to Nationstar. They told us to keep our home we would need to sign this modification, which was more of a payment then we had to begin with. The payment went from 2400.00 a month to 2700.00 dollars. Now they are saying we are short escrow and the payment is now 3238.00 every month. We were told all taxes and insurance would be included in the price, not so at all. We totally got screwed by these two companies which I am pretty certain they are working together to screw people out of their homes and money. Just be aware of any loan modification. I don't understand why the government is allowing this to happen. So, as it stands right now they are going to continue to take peoples homes and charge astronomical fees that people can't afford.

Had approved modified mortgage with Bank of America when they sold it to Nationstar. Nationstar refused to honor modification in place. They made me go through another modification and raised my payment AND ADDED $7612.79 to my principal!!! I was told to sign the agreement or I wouldn't get the loan. Now they have come up with an escrow shortage and raised my payment again. I can't make the payments. Now they are threatening me. Is there any help out there?

I was transferred to Nationstar 2 years ago, they told me 6 months ago all of a sudden I was $6000 short in my escrow. That is impossible since I never missed a payment and my taxes have not gone up. I am in a Chapter 13 and sent them a letter with permission from my lawyer to speak to me for an investigation. I finally got a letter stating I would get a response by no later than Oct 5. It is now Oct 21 - nothing. Also my payments too do not match up. Once again they are doing the same thing all of the other banks are doing. I am ready just to call it quits.

Our mortgage was sold to the Nationstar and from the first payment on October 1st we've been having troubles with them. We made the payment online indicating the regular monthly payment for October and an additional payment that was supposed to go toward the principal. They applied the regular payment for October and the additional payment toward the principal for November. I had to call them and tell that we did not make a November payment but made an additional payment toward the principal and asked them to fix the records. It took almost a week. In the meantime, we realized that we'd given them, by mistake, the routing # and the account # of the bank that we did not have the funds for those payments. That bank recalled the funds that initially had been paid and we were charged $29.00 for insufficient funds. It was our mistake to pay for.
We made the similar online payment (regular and additional to principal) on October 14th. I called Nationstar and explained the situation (their records, by the way, did not reflect that the money was taken out). They thanked me for letting them know. But when we checked the statement from the first bank that we made the payment from we realized that on October 10th Nationstar made another attempt to take the money and this time we were charged $29.00 because of them. Our second online payment had the date of October 15th and I don't understand why Nationstar tried to get the money on the 10th and who is going to reimburse us for $29.00?
And again, they applied the regular payment for October but no indication where the additional payment went to. I had to call them and they said they did not know where to apply those funds to (hah...???) I said it was indicated on THEIR screen that the additional payment should go into principal. Again, it took almost a week for them to apply that money to the right place. After having read the previous complaints, I am really nervous what to expect from them in the future. Thank God I did not agree for automatic withdrawals each month that a person I was talking to was trying to set up. But said, 'no'.

Where to start, I took out a home equity loan from Centex a subsidiary of nationstar, or should I say visa versa. Centex formed nationstar about 2 years into my loan. Since then I've had nothing but hell with them. I’ve been promised govt modifications, then at the last minute told I was not meeting the necessary qualifications and was given on a friday at 1 pm till 5 pm to have 3300.00 and some change electronic transferred to their office. This plus the 10000.00 they added to what started out my 35000.00 note in 2004, which is now 44,000.00 pay off amount after paying on it 10 years. They have sent me escrow overage check and in less than 30 days added more loaned money to my escrow account due to an escrow shortage.
After the in-house modification that cost 100 plus, at the end of it, my payment skyrocketed so the only variable I could control is homeowner's insurance. So I found it for half what I was paying, so I swapped companies and the check for remaining balance was enough to cover new ins. So I sent them the signed check, return receipt requested with directives to pay new ins. in full to lower my payment. They so called could find it, so new agent finally cancelled due to non payment and tried to add expensive insurance. But when I confronted them, they ask, denied and ask how I knew they had the payment and I gave them the name of person who signed for it.
I'm still having hell with them but I think I'm fixing to get them in court and no judge in this country who reviews my documents could honestly side with them unless on nationstar's under the table payroll. So if searching for a refinance or mortgage and nationstar is mentioned, run like hell. Anyone or attorney with any type of help, please let me know.

This company is horrible. I have tried for over a year to have my principal and interest negotiated by a third party as they were unresponsive to me. I have submitted and submitted only to hear that the paperwork has expired and I would have to re-submit. They will not negotiate as they want to continue receiving my timely monthly payments at a high interest rate. Thank you Aurora! Does anyone know of a Government agency or a Law firm that can help? Judging by the number of similar complaints on this complaint page, we might collectively, have a little more teeth in which to bite back. I have a year's worth of documentation, as does the Legal group that has represented me. I believe the investors who hold these debts just play a numbers game and really have no interest in negotiating. But I believe there must be a law or two that are being broken here.

My husband and I originally had our primary mortgage with Bank of America. The mortgage is actually in my husband's name and his ex-wife's name, but my husband was awarded the house in the divorce. Due to some financial difficulties relating to his divorce, my husband got behind on paying the property taxes to the point where Bank of America decided to establish an escrow account and start paying the taxes for us, which we were fine with. They set up an escrow payment of about $400 per month, and they were willing to let us pay that out over the remaining life of the note. The escrow balance would have been a wash by the time the final payment was made. They were very helpful and very willing to work with us since we were so close to paying the note off (within 4 years).
A little over a year ago, I believe Bank of America sold our mortgage to Nationstar. We continued to make our monthly payments which, at $1100 per month (P&I plus escrow), were barely within our budget, but we were managing. And then we started getting notices that we were behind on our payments, even though we have records from our bank stating otherwise. This past week, when my husband told me that our October payment had been kicked back, I finally had him pull our payment history from the Nationstar website. In March, 2014, they had bumped up our mortgage payment from $1100 to $1600, which is WAY out of our budget. But they were still accepting our $1100 per month payments.
And at first they were applying the payments to principal and interest first, and then the balance to escrow (which is how I thought it should be done), but then for the last few months they have been applying the bulk of our monthly payment to escrow, with little or nothing posting to principal and interest. They have been doing this long enough that they were showing we were three months behind on our note, and they were considering foreclosure. When I called them yesterday to find out why they had been applying our payments incorrectly, they said that was their policy when an escrow balance was negative. When I asked why they wouldn't honor the arrangement we had made with Bank of America, they said because that isn't what they do. When I asked why they kicked back our October payment, they said because it wasn't enough (even though they had been processing the same payment amount from us since they bought our mortgage).
And when I asked them what they could do to help us out because we couldn't afford the $1600 a month (and that we had been comfortable paying $1100 per month), their only response was that they MIGHT be able to lower our payments to $1400 a month (still not good enough). We managed to come up with the funds to bring the account "current" through the end of October, but now I am trying to find a way to come up with the $20K we owe on the balance of the note just so that we can get out from under these people. We owe $20K and our house is worth $130K, and I think Nationstar is just looking at that and seeing dollar signs. I think they want us to default so they can have our house and turn a tidy profit. Shame on you, Nationstar. Shame on you.

Nationstar Mortgage LLC doing business as Greenlight Loans solicited me by phone last month to refinance my mortgage with them at a lower interest rate. After completing their online forms and submitting documents, I came to realize they listed the payoff amount of my current mortgage incorrectly after submitting my current October monthly payment. I spoke with the loan processor and the loan officer about the payoff balance on the Settlement Statement of the closing papers being higher than the actual payoff amount. The answers I received were inconclusive and irrelevant to the question.
They have mishandled my money by losing $800 in the paperwork. The latest response I received from the loan officer was quote: "It will come out in the wash". I am still waiting on a return phone call from the loan processor's manager to see if this can be corrected or if I'm out of $800 because I was forced under duress to sign the closing papers with a 3rd party notary. Any advice would be appreciated.

So I emailed them to the specific loan specialists and kept asking for an update only to be told to resubmit the documents again, which I did. Well while I am waiting to get an update from my assigned loan specialists I come home to a notice in my door that my home had been foreclosed on three or four days after I was told to send more documents. I do not understand how a loan specialist assigned by Nationstar can tell me to submit documents for a modification one week and my home get foreclosed on within a couple of days.

We had requested a payoff from Freedom on 10/05/14 and they said they would have it to our title company the next day and when it wasn't sent we called Freedom and they stated that the mortgage had been sold to Nationstar. The lady at the title company and myself have spent at least 1.5 hours everyday since last Thursday trying to get a payoff statement with no luck. Nationstar keeps saying that our info hasn't loaded in their system yet and it could be 3 more weeks. I refinanced my home to get away from Nationstar Mortgage and their rude and annoying customer service. My loan was sold to them in the first place. I would never have gone there in the first place. My new lender paid off Nationstar on Sept 9th and I asked them how long it should take to get my mortgage escrow money from Nationstar since I did not trust I would receive it. I was told to give them 30 days. I called them on Oct 10th and was told the check was mailed of Sept 27th and to give it one more day. Well I gave it until the 14th.
Upon calling today I was informed I could either give it a couple more days or have to wait an additional 30 days for the check to be reissued. I said this is unacceptable, it is my money and if I was late they charged me a late fee. How come I get no late fee from them since it is their responsibility to refund me back my money? Asked for a direct line to call by passing their computer and was told they could not give me a direct line. Waited on hold for over 30 min for a supervisor who so far is not coming to the line. Guess they figure I will give up but they jerked me around for over 2 years before I refinanced so it's matter of principle now.

I have gone the entire year making my payments and September my payment was returned??? I called, they told me they were working it out. Then I got a call from them, first one EVER. They told me I owed of $11,000 on my loan because the escrow went up and I had not been paying it. I never got a letter, I never got a phone call! I asked for my payment coupons to be sent to me in Late December 2013 so I could pay off of them. They didn't include the current amount on the new coupons nor did they send me new ones.
I have been going rounds with this company over my 2nd mortgage with them. They kept sending back my payments but couldn't tell me why for 5 months. Somehow the modification was not noted on the account so the amount was less than the full payment so they wouldn't take any money. No communication, very dishonest. I have talked to 55 people from Nationstar this year to resolve this problem and not once did they tell me I was making the wrong amount on mortgage 1. I would not deal with them ever, if I had my way. I think they force people into foreclosure.

My wife was released from her job and unable to collect. We were looking to lower our monthly payments until she was able to find work. We contacted Nationstar, our newly acquired mortgage company, and filled out the application for a modification. While we were back and forth with the paperwork, Nationstar was busy re-writing the essential conditions of our loan agreement. We were still making our regular monthly payments, but while they were figuring out the conditions of the modification, our statements began to reflect an increase 'amount due' figure. When asked about it, they told us not to worry that once our modification has been finalized everything will fall in place. Yeah, our money in their pockets.
We received the final draft and found it to be ridiculous. Because we did not have much success contacting them by phone, I decided to write them a letter (certified mail return receipt) asking that account is returned back to its original form and that all information pertaining to the modification are null and void. Our account is a Fixed Non-variable Equity Loan Account that would be paid off in 11 more years (maybe sooner). We don't need this. We await their reply as of this posting. Wish us luck.

My wife and I relocated from VA (Stafford, just south of Quantico) 3 years ago when her job moved to Houston. The VA housing market was terrible so we rented our house for 2 years and had nothing but trouble (storm damage, renters left with no notice) so we decided to sell. The house was already underwater (we bought in 2006 and by 2008 it was underwater through no fault of our own) and with the soft market we knew it would need to be a short sale. The bank won't talk to you about a short sale until you have an offer and you've missed a payment -- stupid. To top it off I unexpectedly lost my job which further strained our finances.
So we were now behind on the mortgage payments (on purpose), are operating on half our normal income, and finally had an offer and the Nationstar said they were going to foreclose despite all of the communications we had. They said 15 days was not enough time to consider the pending short sale (even though the process was already underway and they never said they had a time requirement, all we knew was they were waiting on the offer). Things changed from later September when they were working with our realtor to the frantic call at the beginning of October that Nationstar was going to foreclose and would no longer work on the short sale. We thought that we could get them to reconsider and asked about a loan modification (anything to get the foreclosure process to delay for the additional 15 days they claim were needed to consider the short sale), they said they needed 37 days to consider a loan modification (which we didn't want since we were trying to sell) and that they would foreclose unless we brought the mortgage current.
Everything with them requires more time than you have given the constraints they put you in. How can you start a short sale process and then announce halfway through you need twice the amount of time?! I asked them how much to bring the mortgage current (hoping we could afford it to avoid foreclosure) and they told me the amount (not horrible) and said "plus attorney fees". I asked how much those were, they said they did not know and would not "order the attorney fees" unless I agreed we would pay them. Huh? I calmly asked how could I commit to an unknown amount and they repeated their stance: they would not obtain the attorney fee amount for me until I agreed to pay this unknown amount (on a specific day, no less).
So after several months we finally had a short sale offer, earnest money was deposited and we were ready to try to sell the house when Nationstar decided that they would rather foreclose than deal with us. I don't have experience with lots of mortgage companies, we certainly did not choose these folks (our mortgage was resold to them), but from what I have read here we are not alone. These folks are horrible and seem to want to foreclose. I am happy that we are not living in the house (we have 3 children, 2 are special needs) and have to deal with being kicked out of our home. Nationstar should be more willing to help their customers out, especially when they have tried to do everything they can to follow their cumbersome and obviously shifting rules.

I refied my home in 2005 with Centex Mortgage Company for the purpose of restoring an older home built in 1901. The loan went through no problem and I was funded. In less than a year, I get a letter from Nationstar stating that I was no longer to pay Centex, but to pay them. At this time I was working and making a little over 53k a year, with Days Inns as a consultant and property manager. My mortgage was for 15 years, to mature in 2019. The first year with Nationstar, they jumped and paid my property taxes in July - that is when our county sends out the bills. We had until Jan 20th of the following year to pay these county taxes, yet Nationstar contacted the county tax office, obtained the amount owed and paid the taxes right then. This opened and escrow account with Nationstar which of course I would have to pay.
I signed no papers for them to pay my taxes. They simply took it on themselves to do so. I continued to pay my mortgage on time and then noticed on my bill a home inspection fee of 75.00 appears on my bill 4 years after I had signed with Centex. I tired with failure to get Nationstar to explain this fee to no avail. I became disabled in 2010. I used my saving to continue to pay Nationstar. In 2011 I ask for a HAMP loan. This process dragged on for over 2 years needing one more piece of paper. My husband showing up in their records as being deceased. He had to go to a notary and prove he was alive and well.
Finally in 2013 the HAMP was approved. I was sent a contract with a FedEx return package to have all paperwork signed and returned within 48 hours from receipt. The new mortgage was for 480 months. Keep in mind I only had 5 years left on my mortgage. If I had signed this paperwork I would have been 106 years old when my home paid off. My balance owed at that time was 34k dollars total. The new loan would have lowered my payments by 103.00 a month, which was no help at all. I declined the loan, tossed the contract in a garbage can. This company opened an escrow account for the loan and started billing me for the escrow, for a loan I never took out. Now they take a portion of my house payment paying this escrow account off, that I didn't owe. You call them and they say, “Ok we have it all corrected now” and yet it never corrects.
The final straw was this past year. They paid my insurance on my home with MetLife that I had been paying for over 5 years and never miss a payment or a late payment. I confronted them about why they paid insurance that was already paid. They contacted MetLife and requested a refund for the money they had paid by mistake and told me I would have to pay them this money. And once the insurance company gave them their money back, I would get a refund. Their error, I pay for it. I tried to pay my monthly payment in Sept on Sept 3rd. The payment never posted on my account which of course put me in a late charge issue, 25.00.
On Sept 24th they sent my check back uncashed and said they could not accept this as a payment as I owed the insurance escrow as well as my taxes and my payment - and my payment now would go from 604.00 a month to 752.00 per month until this was paid off. If I didn’t catch up payments I would go into default and lose my home of 30 years. My husband and I are both disabled, and our total income is 1700.00 per month. I am on 24/7 oxygen dependent. They demanded a payment by phone of 1502.00 which took our entire monthly social security checks to pay.
This company has treated us this way for over 8 years now, and they know my home is worth 95K, and I owe a little over 30K total. As I see it they simply want to take my home, flip it and make a tidy profit - selling it. My husband and I need help. We don't qualify for any aid of any kind, simply because we worked all our lives and don't meet requirements for handouts. This company is the worst of the worst ever. It has taken a toll on me and my husband’s health. We sit here wondering when we will be tossed out on the street with no place to go. Nationstar has stressed us both so badly, we can never recover.

I complained on this site, feeling helpless, and thinking that I would have no luck in getting my mortgage back to (or closer to) the modification payment. However, Nationstar responded, and spread the escrow payments out, so that the payment was lowered by over $100. I am very grateful, and I have to change my rating now!
Also, I have to point out that I didn't even realize that our taxes had gone up (I guess we'll have to take that up with the town of Plymouth now, since that's a bit of a mystery). Nationstar's response was so quick, that I didn't even have time to look into the issue myself.

Escrow increase - Our (modified) mortgage was sold to Nationstar from Bank of America. Like so many on here, our mortgage increased by $200 per month. I was told today that it would not go down, as I assumed it would, after we'd paid that amount for a year. It made no sense whatsoever, what she said. I am going to request an escrow statement for the past year, and see if they comply. I thought Bank of America was the worst lender that we could deal with, now I'm worried that Nationstar is as bad, if not worse. We are both self employed, or else we would look elsewhere. It is not easy to find lenders these days.

My husband and I began the process of applying for a modified home loan in order to reduce our interest rate in October 2013. This has been the most frustrating process we have ever encountered. We have been diligent about following up on a regular basis and have been consistently told that they have everything they need in the way of documents, etc., only to be told at a later date that they did not receive a particular document or that a particular document needs to be updated and resubmitted. This has been going on for a year! We have asked to speak to a supervisor numerous times only to be put off. We tried to give them the benefit of the doubt by blaming the issue on "red tape." However, it is becoming increasingly clear that this is a ploy to avoid having to give us a lower interest rate. We are at a loss as to what to do.

I was never informed of the sale and also had some money trouble at that time. I am self-employed, got stiffed on 2 jobs leaving me strapped for money. So I canceled my auto payment for January and February. Mid-February I received 4 certified letters from a company called nationstar. They said I was behind on my mortgage. I said "who are you?" They said "we purchased your mortgage from BOA." So we talked, I told them my money situation and I sent them a payment and kept sending them payments. They called 3 or 4 times a day to remind me I was behind. I told them I needed @ 4 months to get caught up. They said 'ok." The next month they say they sent me a demand letter for the total back due amount.
I never got this letter. Instead they returned my July payment. When I asked why they said "your demand letter expired," and they would only accept the full amount I owe in the rears... Oh but wait, we can do a LOAN MODIFICATION.. LOL after jumping through hoops for the last three month giving them everything under the sun they ask for!!!!!!! and now due to them sending my payments back for the last 4 months I am 6 months behind and now they say the investor of my loan does not do modifications so I was denied!!!!!!!!!!!!! I owed them @$10,500.00 sent them $11,000.00 on 10/01/2014 now they say they are going to deny this payment and send the money back again because as of 10/01/2014, I owe another $1,950.00. So now NO MODIFICATION AND NO ONE WILL TOUCH ME AS FAR AS RE-FINANCE.. I am screwed ...does anyone know what I can do?
I feel this is illegal, they want my house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I only owe $155,000 and house worth @ 340,000 / 350,000. Predators are what they are, they are stealing my home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !

So such has happened with this mortgage loan. It’s very frustrating, and heart breaking. NS add an escrow to my mortgage without my acknowledgement and authorization. On March 31, found out when I went to my local tax collect to pay my taxes that NS had made payment on March 12, 2014. Made contact by phone same day, NS refused to allow me to make that tax payment. NS advised escrow would be review. Today is Oct 1, 2014 still under review. My mortgage payment has gone from 851. Now it's 1290 a month. Also had NS make Insurance payment which had my home owner insurance company return their funds. I have never had an escrow account until NS took it upon them self to add. Taxes never late. I can't afford my home anymore and only owe till 2018. It's sad my American dream has become my nightmare. I don't know if this fall under the predatory lending act or not. Please help before NS makes me homeless.

Paige, We show this issue has been resolved. If you need any additional assistance, please let us know. Thanks!

We have property in Tennessee. It is financed with Nationstar Mortgage. Our son got behind on payments. He received a letter that he had to have the money in by Sept 17,2014. But they told us over the phone that if we got in by Sept 30, 2014 that it would stop foreclosure. I asked for the amount. We have the money that was told to us. I wanted something in writing stating that it would be dropped on Sept 30. Told they couldn't give us one. The amount was different every time I called. I don't want to give them that amount of money, when I don't have anything in writing to back it up!

I will be absolutely honest - I am not good with money. Apparently my husband is not either. At least not our money. On March 1st, 2013 we had a house fire which made our home a total loss. We had Nationstar at the time and they were responsible to pay insurance and taxes. The night of the fire we discovered that we were not totally covered for the loss of our house. On November 29, 2012 our insurance was cancelled due to nonpayment. Going through my paperwork I discovered that in November we received a letter passing us to switch over to Harwood Service Company. I also have a letter from our insurance company stating that they had not received payment from our mortgage company. We were almost in foreclosure in that month but we inherited just enough to catch up. Without our knowledge they (Nationstar) purchased structure insurance on our house. Also there is a letter from our insurance company stating that our premium was due on 11/29/2012. We ended up with a total of $36,000 to completely rebuild our home. This is after Nationstar was payed off. If any of this rings a bell with anyone please answer. I believe something was done fraudulently but I don't know what

Bank of America transferred my loan to Nationstar which has been a totally nightmare. August 2013 payments were set up automatically monthly. Nationstar reported to all three credit bureaus that mortgage payments were not received for Oct, Nov, Dec 2013 and Feb 2014 and fees were applied. This has caused me to have bad credit!!!! I am furious, contacted Nationstar so many times and the conversation would always be different over the phone, that they would take care of it. Here we are in Sep 2014 and still dealing with this mess. I am thankful for Sagamore Mortgage for giving me the chance to refinance and having no more ties with this company, but I am still dealing with the several delinquencies on my credit report.

My mortgage was with Bank of America and I got behind on the payments so we did a partial reinstatement. I sent them 5200$ and had a balance of 1300$ that was supposed to be broke down with the current payments. BOA sent a letter stating that they accidentally canceled my reinstatement so I contacted them to resolve the matter. I was told that since it got canceled the best option now would be to file for another home modification.. BOA kept putting things off and saying that they mailed me a packet that never arrived. I was then transferred to Nationstar. Nationstar took over a year to process the paperwork racking up all kinds of fees! When the finally did the modification my rep informed me that there was 38,000 extra on my note in error so we filed an appeal to remove it.
Underwriters refused to remove it and said that I had to sign the agreement and pay the deposit or they would foreclose. They also said it was illegal for a 2nd modification to have a higher payment.. My payment went up 200$. I owed 105,000 on my house and I now owe 198,000! They took all the payment and put them on top of the loan, including the principal that should have been subtracted. How can they add principal that wasn't paid to the top of the note?? This is outrageous and I know they broke several laws! They gave me 24 hours notice to pay 1500$ and I had a payment of 952 due in less than 2 weeks! If BOA didn't "accidentally cancel" my reinstatement I would owe 105,000 with a payment of 751 a month! I don't know if there is any way to hold them accountable and get this corrected but I am open to suggestions.

I was sent a letter by my current mortgage company Springleaf Financial, informing me my account with them was being transferred to Nationstar Mortgage. I called Springleaf to get a telephone number for Nationstar and they gave me 888-817-2432. I dialed the number and some man answered "hello". No company name, No thank you for calling Nationstar, nothing. I asked him who he was and he gave me a name. I asked him if this was Nationstar and he said yes. I began telling him my mortgage loan had been bought by Nationstar and he said he would transfer me to the number I needed.
I was transferred to a woman with a heavy foreign accent who said her name was Allen. I explained that according to Springleaf my October 1st payment should be made to Nationstar Mortgage not Springleaf. The woman asked me for my ssn. I gave it to her so she could look up my account. She couldn't find my account and asked me when it was supposed to be transferred over. I told her October 1 2014. She said it probably hadn't been transferred yet and I could make my October 1st payment to Springleaf. I asked her how long Nationstar had been in business. She stated "over 10 years". I asked her where her corporate office was and she said "There is no corporate office." "What?" "Where does my payment get mailed to each month?" She said, "Customer relations in Erving TX." "Where is your customer service located?" She said, "Philippines." This would account for the foreign accent.
I googled the company and the corporate office is 350 Highland Dr, Lewisville, TX 75067 Customer Service is (888) 480-2432 (Philippines). The Philippines is their call center. If you are having trouble with them currently, I would call this guy at 888-817-2432. At least he sounds non-foreign. Maybe you can shake him up to help you. For myself I think this is some sort of unprofessional company who hasn't been in business too long and is buying up old mortgages to shake down people (from reading many of the complaints). I really do not want to deal with a bunch of people who hide their corporate office and give you the runaround every time you have dealings with them.

I have been trying to close on my house for months so when I finally got the final closing date in September I contacted NationStar to let them know what was going on. I wanted to hold on my Mortgage payment so I could include the money in the closing cost since we were closing for less than we owed. I was told I had to make the payment which I did. I asked them to not make any further activity on my account because I knew next year's taxes were about to be due as well. I was told that it would be put on hold.
When I called a week later to ask for a close out amount, they told me that I had to do it over the internet. They could not send it to my attorney or tell me over the phone. So I went to the internet to get my close out amount and they said it could take up to a week. I didn't have a week. It's unbelievable that it would take that long. Even my attorney was shocked at how long it takes and he does this all the time. We managed to get it just in time, It was 1000 more than I actually owed but we cut them the check and sent it to them.
Three days later my lawyer calls and tells me there wasn't enough to cover the mortgage payoff. I called nationstar to talk to someone. The first person put me on hold for 20 minutes then told me she couldn't help me and hung up. I called back and got a different person, having to go through the whole menu again and got someone who was a bit more helpful by transferring me to someone else. The next person had to get me on the phone in a 3-way call with a third person who barely spoke english and couldn't understand what I was asking. Finally after 45 minutes I managed to convince them to send me another payoff statement which they told me was the same one my lawyer had received. (And it took time to get the payoff) I have a copy of the one I got from the lawyer and the new one, there was a 500 dollar difference and not in my favor. The lady I talked to assured me that this payoff amount would hold until the end of the month.
I called back to make a payment, but they can't take a payment over the phone, it has to be wired or a cashier check sent. When I called back to make the payment, I was told I owed a different amount but they could not discuss it over the phone, I would have to wait for the payoff statement... so round and round we go right. I'm sure by the time I get this one, I will owe something else!!! I can't help thinking they are pushing me to next month so I will owe late fees and the interest yet again on the whole amount, which they have but won't process without the final amount.

Nationstar double billed me. I cancelled automatic debits and arranged a one time debit for March. Their error cost me $25 in NSF fees. I called Nationstar the first week of March to cancel my automatic withdrawals and to arrange a one time debit on March 14th. The representative arranged the one time debit but later said she could not cancel the one time debit. She said I would need to set up an online account and do it myself. This required me to agree to a release of liability/hold harmless agreement for any mistakes they make pertaining online security, etc. I declined.
On March 10th, they attempted a debit and there weren't sufficient funds to cover it. That was a $25 loss but that my responsibility. This is when the trouble began. I called Nationstar to make sure it did not happen again. I spoke to a representative who assured me he would cancel the automatic withdrawals and the one time debit on the 14th would still occur. On March 14th Nationstar debited my account as agreed and that took care of my monthly mortgage payment. On March 17th, Nationstar attempted an automatic withdrawal and there weren't funds in the account to cover the cost. My financial institution imposed a $25 fee. The representative I spoke to on the 12th assured me this would not happen.
On March 18th, this came to my attention and I called Nationstar 3 times. I spoke to 3 representative, none could help me address this issue, in fact, they said their system did not show an attempted debit on that date. One representative asked that I FAX him the bank statement. I objected, suggesting to email him the document because there is no accountability with faxing documents. The recipient can always say they did not receive the document and there is no way to prove they did. In spite of that I faxed the document, but after being on hold for more than 10 minutes waiting for him to check the fax machine, I disconnected.
I spent a total of one hour and twenty five minutes on the phone and nothing was accomplished. In fact half of that time was spent on hold. This is not the exception with Nationstar, its the rule. It has been my experience that most telephone transactions with customer service take 30 minutes. Calls to the refinance or new loan departments are answered immediately. The people in the loan modification department DO NOT ANSWER THE PHONE AT ALL. I suspect Nationstar received Federal funds to grant modifications. I requested that a supervisor return my call to resolve my problem. I'm, still waiting for that call. This company couldn't care less about serving its customers. About a week or so later, ** called while I was at work. I called her and left a voicemail message and I am waiting for the return call. Around this time, I received a letter from Nationstar informing me that they would be applying a $15 fee for the failed debits, this was eventually reversed.
On Friday, April 11, 2014, I was able to reach ** by telephone. I explained that I was very frustrated and it would take a while to explain why. ** cut me off and said she would not allow me to take my problem out on her. I thought this was a little premature since I was excited but hardly rude or disrespectful. I explained that I had no intention of doing that but I was frustrated. After explaining my billing problems to **, she told me I would need to wait until the customer service representatives I originally spoke with conducted an investigation. She repeatedly told me "Nationstar was not going to just send me a check for $50.00." I explained that I had faxed the supporting documents showing my loss. ** acted as if I was making this entire incident up, saying that her system did not show that Nationstar attempted debit on the 17th and 20 of March. I asked if I could email the supporting documents to her. She refused saying her company would not accept emails. I explained to no avail that there is no accountability with fax messages, which was evident by the fact that she did not know I had already sent the documents via fax.
I also asked if there was another telephone number or a contact person I could speak with contact regarding a loan modification since it seems that the loan modification staff do not answer the telephone. ** did not provide me with a contact person and gave me the same toll free Nationstar modification department number. Thoroughly frustrated after going around in circles, I asked if there was a supervisor I could speak with. She identified herself as a supervisor, or equivalent, and refused to allow me to speak with someone else. I have never experienced suck organizational indifference and incompetence. I have worked in the public sector 27 years and the worse bureaucracies I've ever dealt are no where near as bad as Nationstar, not even close. Based on what I've seen from so many Nationstar employees, it is apparent that the management and the executive staff tacitly endorse this type of service or lack thereof.
During this time I had filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and submitted several follow-up letters. ** of Nationstar responded in writing in late April. The first three paragraphs of ** response were accurate, however, the factual content diminishes as the response continued. In short ** and the Nationstar staff maintained accurate notes of everything that transpired except for the attempted ACH drafts. Everyone I have dealt with acts as if it did not happen. They have simply ignored the supporting documents from my credit union that I faxed them on two separate occasions.
This company simply does whatever they want, understanding that there is no price to pay. Unlike cell phone service, insurance and television service, most people cannot just change mortgage companies. It is for that reason that a company like Nationstar can operate in bad faith with impunity. I was never reimbursed for my loss and I finally just gave up. The $50 loss was not worth the stress.

Had a house. My last payment was Sept. 2007. I left that month. After a bungled foreclosure, the house was finally foreclosed by BOA in February 2010. BOA then sold this "dead" non-recourse loan to NS in December 2013. Starting in January 2014, NS billed me for the insurance on that house. I complained to the CFPB. Contacted my attorney, who wrote a Cease and Desist letter to NS. Then in March, NS agreed in writing on their letterhead to the Cease and Desist. A copy of that NS letter went to CFPB .
Guess what? In May, NS again billed me for the insurance on that house. I again complained to CFPB. Then in June, NS agreed in writing on their letterhead that no more contact would be made. A copy of that second NS letter went to CFPB. Guess what? In September, NS sent me a written memo stating that I owed $1731.64 a month on that house. The memo was entitled "Changes to Your Mortgage Interest Rate and Payments on 10/01/14". What? Still trying to collect on a "dead" non-recourse loan on a house foreclosed in February 2010! I do NOT have any loan with NS!
Seeing that twice, NS violated it's written promises to me- I again complained this week to the CFPB asking for a permanent Government order for NS to Cease and Desist. That was a non-recourse loan, once the house was foreclosed - that is it. It should be over. That is law in California. NS reps are no help. The reps were saying falsely that my name is still on the loan, saying falsely that I had "made" a payment on that foreclosed house in February 2012. No way! Guess what? I asked the CFPB this week for an "order" directed at NS, because I do not trust NS to do things voluntarily. I stated that will not accept any more written promises from NS. Why should I? Two promises have already been violated by NS.

A repr. called me after I came home, and was asking if I am going to be out of the house by 21 of December. "No," I just about exploded, "I just got out of hosp. and you want me to move by 21. I don't think so, I am recovering from hospitalization with my heart. I am recovering and on a therapeutic heart medication that requires to accumulate." I asked her "what would nationstar do If I had died?" That was the end of calls until march when it all started over again. By then I had prayed and made up my mind don't fight just get out. It hurt so bad. All my memories and life had been tied up in that house.
Well GOD gives you advice and support to take some of the hurt away. I talked with the reps and of course they could care less about your feelings. I was advised that I would get moving expenses, that 3,000.00 could not make up for the pain and the 19,000.00 hospital bill that you are presented even with insurance. I am grateful for what insurance paid. I have been thinking about all this and I have wondered if I could sue for damages. Well GOD will answer that one in due time.

I spoke with my new dedicated loan specialist who gave me a long list of reasons why it was denied. He said that they want to be sure I can do 31%. I said I have pension and income to support a constant income stream. So there should not be an issue, but his reasons were vague. I am considering doing cash for keys but I am afraid that they will coming up with a laundry list of fixes that will leave us with money. I almost think it's better to not pay at all! A couple of years ago, Bank of America sold my home loan to Nationstar Mortgage (NSM) and I have NEVER been late with any of the Mortgage companies--(as usual, there is a 15-day grace period). March, 2014, I was presented with an offer from NSM to refinance my mortgage with a lowe, which I accepted and continued the same practice in paying my mortgage prior to the 15th. For the last couple of months I have been receiving harassing phone calls that my mortgage is late because I did not pay it on the 1st. I have never consistently paid it on the first prior to my loan transfer nor afterwards and have never received such calls from them nor. This is very annoying to receive these offensive calls from the reps (on my job) threatening to continue this practice by stating that my mortgage it is "technically" late. Technically, a late fee as never been assessed on my account. This has unfortunately been the practice of NSM for the last 2 months and this is beyond ridiculous!

Ok, I've had worse experience with Nationstar! They have been withdrawing payments twice in a month for two months. Not only I was put on hold for 50 minutes with rude rep. They want to do a conference call with my bank so they can refund my money? Or I don't get my money? I mean they are the one who made a mistake by double charging me and I have to deal with this? I've spoke with two manager and bottom line, nobody cares or they weren't willing to resolve this issue. I have kids and bills to pay and I have to wait 15 days before I get my money? This company also have lot of employees English as second language with very very heavy accent didn't help at all. My first review and I will give zero star.

Had mortgage with Nationstar and had major medical problems arise and sold home to pay off many bills and Nationstar mortgage in full and they have listed on my credit report that I have been delinquent 120 days in 2004. Problem is I did not have a mortgage in 2004 with them. I bought my home for cash in 2004 only, a few years later took a loan out with another loan co for upgrades to home. They I guess sold that loan to Nationstar. Problem is Nationstar has listed 120 day late payment with all credit reporting companies and that is not the truth as they were paid each and every month and as soon as home was sold, was paid in full at time of sale. I'm going to file a complaint with Federal Trade Commission as this co needs to have correct information if they want to smear customer names with credit reporting cos.

We have the same complaints as all of the above. We applied for a modification from Nationstar after our loan was sold for the 6th time (is that legal?)! I have had at least 8 "dedicated loan specialist" most of whom I've never talked to. I have sent hundreds of requested papers over and over again, sometimes five times. I've called twice a week to check on things, of course getting a different person each time who knows nothing about our case. I've sent letters to the CEO, receiving very weak responses from customer relations.
Last week after calling them AGAIN I found out that our modification was denied because we didn't meet the formula. It is very cut and dried with no humanity involved. We are now in the process of hiring an attorney to fight for us. My husband is 84 and has Parkinson's. We have a decent income and can pay a mortgage but we need to lower the interest rate slightly. But we don't meet their formula. Our home has been in our family since 1943 and my husband grew up here. Our children always came here for parties and BBQ's. Now our grandchildren come everyday. We don't want to give up our home.

To make a long story short, they were constantly losing my paperwork, bouncing me to 30 different people, never approved any modification and I ended up filing bankruptcy and getting an attorney. They have made my payment so ridiculously high through the trustee that handling my bankruptcy that it looks like foreclosure will be inevitable.
I have realized that they were so hell bent on foreclosing on my home because I have so much equity. I have record of every email and every record showing how many people I was diverted to, and my attorney has records of how many times they ask for the same things over and over and then coming back and saying the paperwork had expired and asking for all the same paperwork again. I don't know what to do.. I have attempted MANY MANY times to communicate with Nationstar. Short summary of events, my husband had to close his small business due to economy , I am an RN that due to chronic and new health issues was unemployed for about 6 months, we got behind on mortgage. We had a bankruptcy in 2010 but have slowly tried digging our way back to surface.
During our current troubles with mortgage, I continued to try to communicate, even tried to make payments at times and tried to obtain a loan modification from my lender. Since Dec 2013-Jan 2014, I have called and have been shuffled through customer service in the bankruptcy dept and told no one can help me because my loan is in the bankruptcy dept. I finally get an email from a man, Raymond ** that talked loan modification in Jan, I submitted ALL papers asked for but the process was dragged out until July and he never communicated with me, BUT with him asking questions and wanting answers until finally he says I am denied due to non submitting of paper that was not asked for... This man kept asking for same records over and over, I submitted them again and again.
I honestly think they did not want to work with us because of my unemployment and because of my husband’s little income. I even explained I would be getting a federal gov. job as soon as my security cleared and would be able to get back on track. I feel we were discriminated against. I now have THEIR attorney sending me papers wanting to foreclose. This company would not accept payments when they said it was in bankruptcy (this was discharged in 2010). I contacted my bankruptcy attorney and he said this was not an issue. I am going to lose my home even after I offer to pay, even after I tried my best at loan modification process, I don't know what to do. I just tried AGAIN to call 9/2/14 and same story, in bankruptcy dept and they would not talk to me. I even asked to speak with managers, I was told to call back in a week, call back on Monday, etc.. I did all these things.
How can you pay a bill that no one will accept a payment from? How can you discuss options when no one will talk to you? THE ONLY communication I get from this company is when attorney sends papers! They already released to my credit report they have foreclosed. I have reported to BBB, to the US Attorney General KY office, to the Texas Attorney General office of their state.... Even yesterday when I spoke with Ivy, she would not tell me anything but last phone conversation was in Feb. Please help us with this Company Nationstar Mortgage. We very stressed and upset with this company. No matter what we do as customer we always wrong and this has got to be worst mortgage company EVER! and has been NIGHTMARE for us. Our Mortgage was original from COUNTRYWIDE sold to BANK OF AMERICA then sold again to NATIONSTAR. It started last Oct 2013 when my husband threw his back out. He couldn't even walk at all so he didn't go to work for about 1 month. We lost paycheck and money due. We need to paid with our own pocket all his medical care since insurance didn't cover it. Then we miss payment for 2 months (Nov and Dec) but then we trying to keep up with what we owe them by sending check every week $1000 for 3 week in row but they never cut from our bank and returning the check to us.
When we call them on Jan 2014 (which we still sent the money to paid it) they told us they don't want partial payment, they want full amount of money that we owe and they threaten us with a FORECLOSURE sign in our house if they don't get their money by the date they mention to us and tell us they are NOT MORTGAGE COMPANY BUT THEY ARE DEBT COLLECTOR AGENCY. They don't even let us talk to other and don't even give us time to talk on the phone. They keep saying, "Sir, you need to listen to us!! You can't talk anymore with us until we get our money! We are Debt collector people." So end up we owe them till Feb 2014 which $5200 plus with all the late fee and administrative fee. So we call for help with my father-in-law. We short the money about $2200 and we paid in full amount. But the every month after the 1st day of each month if they don't receive our mortgage payment they start calling us even actually we are paying our mortgage just not on 1st of the month and harass us.
When they call to the house while my husband is at work and I pick up the phone and asking what wrong they would not let me know even though I am on the account as a person to speak to. I tell them to call back at 5pm when my husband at home but they never call him at home instead they call us at 9-10 PM (Eastern time) at night while all of us are sleeping. Today, I received statement from them saying we owe them for Sept payment while We already sent 3 month mortgage monthly payment (due to my husband layoff we planning to get our mortgage pay for this 3 month since we don't know if he will be back to work or not or the bad thing that I should find a job in this 3 month. We are Single income and have 3 kids still toddler, infant and baby.)
It specific said payment for Sept, Oct and Nov 2014 and their $50 for late payment that they're saying we owe them $6.50 (which we so shock why we owe them because we always pay extra. Our mortgage monthly was $1,243.** and we always paid $1,250.00 so you see there extra $6.** there every month. Where the money go to?!?). The check we send was clear in my bank account on Aug 26, 2014. Today the statement showing that we owe them for Sept. We call the 1888 number... the machine saying they receive our payment about $3800 and the next payment was due on OCT 1, 2014. So where is my mortgage payment go to?!? They said it toward principal?!?! Our principal was only $191 and didn't even bring down our balance much. Right now we still owe them $72.***.**. with interest rate 7.50% and no one will refinance our house even our credit score was NOT BAD. We didn't make a note those $1,250 of those 3 checks are payment toward principal... It should be toward monthly payment. So we don't know what is our right as a customer in this mortgage company.
Before we send these checks, we did call in asking can we pay in advance, they said YES!. Today after I hung up the phone with them (While I on the phone my husband was sit in the driver seat and hear all the conversation) my husband call them back, they said give them 48 hours to fixed this problem. Why we need to give them those 48 Hours when we owe them money they don't even give us time to collect all our money to pay them. Do you think that FAIR?!? This company say one thing for you but they will do something different from what they tell you. They only benefit themselves. We have no words for them anymore. We are so angry right now and feel like our money has been misplace. We trying to make it right for our financial and hope thing get better for us. We struggle and make end meet but we trying to pay our mortgage so it won't hurt my husband credit score due to this matter.
But what Nationstar does to us was NOT FAIR. WE DON'T HAVE OUR RIGHT AS CUSTOMER! IT ALWAYS A COMPANY RIGHT WANT THEIR MONEY. My husband and I looking for a job right now. We are hoping in this 3 months we can get any job so we can get back in financial afford to pay our mortgage (even we will end up have 2 or 3 job per person) without them harassment us by calling in the middle night. We have enough stress already with this struggle financial and looking for a job. We don't need company put more stress into our life. We don't like to abuse the Government benefit system. We still think when we struggle with this there people have more worst than us. We know no one will help us beside our self. So that what we plan. We realize when we plan thing sometimes don't always happen as we want. But what they did not post my payment in my statement and put the payment where should not to or put in toward principal that is NOT RIGHT!!
We work hard for all our money. For them to do this was a NIGHTMARE for us... that a lot of money for us to paid it in advance but we know it will help us at the end of our journey to find a job and when we get the job we won't miss the payment... Please forward this complaint to FEDERAL GOVERNMENT WHO OVERVIEW ALL THIS MORTGAGE COMPANY... We know some of mortgage company are in the problem to such of BANK OF AMERICA have a lawsuit with all the insurance program. We highly appreciate if our complaint can be forward and their people out there also maybe have a same problem like us.

I was one of the unfortunate souls that was bought out by Nationstar. I was with BofA, who assured me that they would be able to help me with a loan mod. I had all the information in. They said "great", they would be back with me within a week. I called a week later and they said my account was sold to Nationstar. BofA said if they would have gotten to my account one week sooner, they would have been able to help me. WHAT???? They of course knew my account was sold!
I was with Countrywide originally, then sold to BoA. I got into a predatory loan. This is a whole other story, that to this day is unbelievable to me. The payments went up close to $400.00. I asked Nationstar if it would be alright if I paid the original payment of $1,1652 until the decision was made as to which loan mod I would get, because according to Nationstar, they jump right on the loan mods and get an answer within 2 weeks to a month. I was assured every time I spoke to a rep that my paying the original amount would be fine until the loan mod was finalized. I made the payment every month and on time. Not until I was declined for a loan mod I was told that I should have been paying the full amount of $2,030. Again, WHAT? At that point, I did found a not so easy way to pay the full amount, which I have every month.
I just received a letter to go to court. I received it three days ago and I'm suppose to appear 6 days later. I'm told they are saying I haven't made a payment since 1-2004. I had to go to the bank get my cancelled checks for proof. I should say, yes I filed for bankruptcy two years ago and they want the house back. Point being, they are unethical scum! They gave me no time to prepare and my attorney is on vacation! Now, I will get on to the rest of the story.
Nationstar lies constantly! I can't even articulate the deception of this company! They say, "Oh yes, there will be at least one loan mod that this company can come up with for you. Don't worry"! They said, "Oh yes. I will make sure I stay in touch with you and this will be taken care of. Nationstar is really good about loan mods." Now here's the thing. The rep that was suppose to stay in touch with me and keep me aware of what was going on, never did stay in touch with me. I was told call back in a week if I don't hear anything. Being anxious about taking care of this sooner rather than later, I did as they suggested. I called every week. Of course I wasn't able to speak with my rep - there was only voice mail. I left a pleading message to have them call me back. NO RETURNED CALLS EVER!
I started calling more than once a week, still no returned calls. I thought I had better get in touch with someone, so I called the main number, only to start all over again! I would explain to the new person, who would say, "That's strange, you should have received feedback by now". No, I explain the situation. Again I was assured that they would personally take care of it and they would contact me with an update. Of course no call back, no nothing, even after leaving my pleading message each time. I can keep describing these situations over and over, but just to let you know this went on for close to two years. The last call that I made they said no, there was no loan mod that they could help me with and I would have to short sell or give them the townhouse back.
They were very curt and matter of fact with me. I say that because I called back and spoke to several people over a week span and they all became hostile! I thought perhaps I might be able to talk to someone that was willing to help me - that of course never happened. I did some research and found someone who worked for Nationstar that said this is their practice, to give you false hopes and dispose of you. They just want to have the property returned to them. I was surprised she told me that and in fact said she was quitting, she couldn't take the guilt any longer. She found a job with a credit union, where she won't have to lie as part of the job requirements.
I am furious, flabbergasted, duped and victimized by this company!!!!! By the way, I am in the rear's for $8,000. I told them I would somehow come up with the money if they gave me some time. I was to get a return call. Of course I never did and so here we are. I know someone who has been not paid Nationstar for two years. This person has been living free, their payment is over $6000.00 per month and have not yet taken the house back. My property has gone up in value and they want it back. More money for them! I know my story is long, but I just couldn't hold it in any longer.

My mortgage was sold to Nationstar as of December 1, 2013. When Nationstar did my escrow analysis in July, I was told that beginning August 1, 2014, that my payment would increase by $169 a month due to a shortage in escrow. This shortage was supposedly because my PMI (I have a FHA loan) had more than doubled. This made no sense to me since I haven't refinanced and I'm paying on the same loan. I called Nationstar (that in itself is a fate worse that getting teeth pulled) and when I finally got a live person in the right department (it took 4 transfers and 50 minutes on hold to accomplish this), I was told that they would "reach out" to FHA and that I, the customer, could not talk to FHA. They said I would have to call back in a week or so to see what they found out.
REALLY???? The customer doesn't even get the respect of a call back??? I took it upon myself to google FHA and got a phone number. I called them and they were super helpful. They stated to me that the PMI had NOT increased... They were billing Nationstar what they always had. I called Nationstar and once again had to go through the moronic phone system and when I finally got the escrow department, I was told that THEY had to hear this from FHA. They would continue to "reach out."
Finally yesterday, after I submitted a complaint to the CFPB, they told me that I was right - FHA confirmed that the PMI was what it has always been. They "lowered my payment" down to $30 more than it has always been. I asked why they didn't lower it to what it was prior to August 1 - why the $30 increase? They "didn't know for sure" but "probably it was because there was a shortage in escrow from the increased PMI they charged my account from Feb. to August." UNBELIEVABLE. They don't seem to get it that they charged my escrow account in error and that THEY need to credit my escrow account $900 ... It was THEIR mistake ... not mine. Let me also say that my homeowners and my property tax have not increased. This entire supposed "shortage" was due to Nationstar incorrectly debiting my escrow account $90 too much each month. They are an incompetent Rinky Dink operation if I ever saw one and nobody seems to know or care what they are doing.

I had a full price offer from a Buyer, accepted by the Sellers back in April, and was informed by the original bank (Bank of America) that Nationstar Mortgage was going to handle to short sale. I have uploaded literally hundreds of documents, had to hold open houses for online auctions, had to disturb the tenants multiple times for BPO inspections, showings for the auction, entered and re-entered the sellers financial information, 2 months worth of paystubs, etc. and we still do not have an approval for the short sale.
The Buyer is patient and has extended the contract 3 times, but as of today, we still do not have approval for the short sale, nor any info regarding the closing. They frequently do not answer emails. You have to go through "Equator.com" message boards and tasks that are ridiculous. This company is worse than the "robo-signing" debacle companies. I think they are deliberately delaying any closing so the Buyer gives up and they can foreclose on the Seller. Realtors - DON'T ever take on a short sale if it is managed by Nationstar!! You will live to regret it, I promise.
I am now trying to continue a short sale on the Seller's previous primary home with the same ridiculous process and I am honestly ready to quit RE and walk away. I will estimate my proceeds from either of the sales, IF either one closes will work out to be about 5 cents an hour, not counting the paperwork expenses of printing, mailing and scanning and uploading the 100 pages of redundant documentation they require. They advertise that they are a company you can trust. HA!!

We were set to close on the sale of our home on 7/11/14. Nationstar was the mortgage holder. The Cook County property tax bill was due on 8/2/14 and the money to pay the bill was in escrow with Nationstar. On the payoff letter, Nationstar, noted that we had to pay the property tax bill at closing since they were not paying any property taxes until the last week of July, the 28th and 29th specifically. I spoke with the payoff and escrow departments at Nationstar and with a few levels of supervisors. Each said that they would NOT pay it early and that we would have to pay them at the closing. Further, Nationstar said that when they went to pay property taxes at the end of July they would see that our mortgage was paid in full and the money in escrow would then be refunded to us within 30 days.
We were prepared to bring $15,000 to the closing to get out of that house (note: we never missed or were even late with a single payment, ever). Having to bring additional money to the closing to pay the property taxes forced us to use money that was allocated for moving, for the property taxes. 30 days after closing we received a check for about $100 from Nationstar, far less than what was in escrow and far less than the property tax bill. I contacted Nationstar and was told that they paid the property tax on 7/9/14, two days before the closing date. This is exactly what Nationstar said they would NOT do.
At the closing, we paid the property taxes as instructed by Nationstar and the title company. Now, Nationstar is saying tough luck and will not reverse and refund the payment that they sent. They did tell us that they see two payments were made, theirs and mine, but Cook County is saying that they only received one! I had to borrow that money from family in order to close with the promise of paying it back as soon as I got the refund from Nationstar. Now I'm screwed.

I am a little upset you were not able to take my phone call today after having to repeatedly call your help desk. Since I, the paying customer who pays for your service, have been lied to repeatedly by your staff. August 15th I spoke with a representative for 30 minutes about a double payment that has been made due to your system informing me that my payment was about to be overdue (08/13/2014). So, like a concerned customer, I paid my mortgage so I wouldn't be delinquent. Lo and behold I had a scheduled payment to come out on August 14th, 2014. A total of $1735.54 plus transaction fees came out of my account on the 14th of August. August 18th, 2014, after speaking with your staff, I did not want to wait 7 days for you to misplace or lose my refund check in the mail so I wanted to process a wire transfer. This usually takes all of 5 minutes if you have the correct information (which I sent you on the 18th).
So following your staff's instructions, I didn't receive my money 24-48 hours after the 18th. So I called on Wednesday and was assured that the payment would be made soon. I called on Thursday and was told there was a mistake but I would be getting the money on Friday or at latest (highly unlikely I was made to believe) on Saturday. So today being Monday and still no money in my account, you can say I am a little upset. So I, the customer, have to call again. This time really concerned that you and your staff have no idea what their job is. I didn't know the biggest investment that I would be making (purchasing a house) would be left in the hands of Mickey Mouse Ignoramus simpletons. I, the one responsible for putting food on your family’s tables, have had to call Nationstar again (5 times) to learn that your staff didn't send the money and that it was cancelled. Was I notified? No. Do I depend on this money to put food in my children mouth? Yes!
So let me get this straight, you and your department have failed me. I have had to accrue charges and late fees in excess of $130 because of your mistakes. Who is accountable for this and when should I be receiving my money plus the money to pay for the fees that are continually accruing? Oh, and if my car payment is late, that will ding my credit report (the same with my utility bills, credit cards, insurance, Timeshare, etc.). Are you then responsible for that as well? There seems to me to be no accountability for your actions or the actions of your staff. If I do not hear back from you immediately I will be getting my lawyers involved.

They tried to keep this charade going until the supposed time had elapsed. I have a log of every conversation with whom and about what was discussed. No of what was discussed occurred. I was denied a HAMP Loan on Aug 14 when the requested docs were not due for an additional few weeks. It is all recorded. They are taking the government loan supposedly to help the people and rewarding their employees with bonuses instead.

My husband is a vet who was in Eisenhower for 18 months following his last tour in Afghanistan. We got behind on our mortgage payments while we were with BofA but they were working with us. BofA sold our mortgage to Nationstar, who refuses to work with us. We are only one payment past due now and have been paying extra on every mortgage payment to catch up. Nationstar refuses to post that money to our past due payment and threatens foreclosure in every letter we receive from them. My husband suffers from chronic PTSD so we had to send DO NOT CALL letters because every rep at Nationstar doesn't care if they upset a customer.
I work in consumer financing and I know that threatening foreclosure is serious business. I see people on a daily basis who have mortgages much worse than ours with Nationstar and other mortgage companies. I'm sick of the threats. I'm sick of Nationstar not putting the money we sent them where it is supposed to go. This is a SECURED debt!!! That money should not be held in some limbo account just because Nationstar doesn't want to do it's due diligence and post it towards past due payments. I've contacted the BBB but they are useless. I've contacted my senators but they are all facing reelection and don't have the time for the small person. I'm fed up with Nationstar.

Agree with others here regarding the competency of those at Nationstar. We too applied for a modification and sent requested information at least 3 times. Each time I called or emailed, I spoke to another person and never to my "dedicated loan specialist". After approximately 10 months, the modification was denied because they claimed not to have all the requested info. In addition, one employee admitted our request could "expire" and would have to be resubmitted. He could not explain to me why that would be so when we had in fact sent them everything they requested. P.S. Today, I received a letter in the mail from them that we could be foreclosed on within 14 days. I feel we were treated unfairly, incompetently, and unreasonably. I feel their practices should be questioned and examined. I would be interested in taking legal action against them.

Always lost in some department and there were no less than 30 people touching our file. We didn't receive notification of our approval until December 2014 when they doubled our auto debit without notifying us. We received the modification documents in February and they reported erroneous and false information to agencies. I have written letters to the CEO, the Board and the company with no response except a standard letter saying they care about my business and we are working on our request. I have a PERMANENT APPROVED loan modification from B of A. My loan was sold to Nationstar about a year ago. Nationstar has said for the last 11 months that they must honor my PERMANENT APPROVED modification but just need to have the modification paperwork in Nationstar's name. They have taken my modified payments according to my APPROVED NOT TRIAL paperwork then all of a sudden said they were not able to take my payment as of this June 2014 but said "Don't worry this is just a process." Now after being the third month of them not taking my payment (no fault of my own, they refuse to take it) are now asking me what my intentions are on the property!!!!! They hung up on me twice last week and refuse to allow me to speak with anyone other than the reps that answer the phone initially.
They also have sent me modification paperwork with completely different terms then my approved modification and said that I needed to sign that. Of course I'm not going to agree to that. I'm now contacting an attorney and my congressman. I will not let them have my house.
Back history: I lost my income and marriage in 2006. I did not roll over I found a second job and now work 2 jobs. By the time I recovered I was behind in payments. I applied for a modification and due to my circumstances was APPROVED for one. I made my payments for over 2 years to B of A on the terms they gave me. Then was sold to Nationstar. Made my payments to them from Sept 2013 to June 2014. Now they are disregarding my APPROVED RECORDED modification and are threatening foreclosure. If they win I guess a Legal Binding Recorded Contract in America with our banks means nothing!!!!

The fact that this company calls itself a "mortgage" corporation is laughable. It should call itself Nationstar "We'll tell you whatever we have to to make you think we want to help you while we foreclose on you" Mortgage Corp. It makes me sick to read about the experiences people have had (or are still having). Most of us have a decent human core inside us - we complain that Nationstar loses our loan modification paperwork, Nationstar mistakenly posts a payment to the wrong account, Nationstar forgets to pay our home insurance from escrow, etc. It never occurs to us that Nationstar doesn't MISTAKENLY do anything. Every single thing this "corporation" does is well orchestrated, deliberate, and has a single purpose in mind - to get you out of your home.
I have a story identical to everyone else, with a minuscule difference here and there. Late payments, loan modification request, lost paperwork, don't make your payments so you'll better qualify for hardship programs, foreclosure process started the very date a Nationstar rep advises you to stop paying. Our home was sold on the courthouse steps nearly a year ago. Twice. Nationstar bought our home twice (it may make no sense to you, and it makes even less sense to me). The constable showed up with our court date, only that was the first we'd heard about it because the lawyer for Nationstar mailed everything that was supposed to come to us to the wrong address (how you get the wrong address for the home you're foreclosing on is truly impressive). The court date was cancelled and that was the last we heard from them. Until about a week ago. That same lawyer wants to know when we'll be out of the house.
I'm having a hard time believing this foreclosure is on the up-and-up. I would love to find out if Nationstar actually has the deed (title, loan papers, whatever it's actually called). I would probably bet my hands that the paperwork Nationstar has is so messed up that it might as well be written in Crayon. Of course, I'm no attorney, so I have not a clue as to how to expose the crap that is Nationstar. But, I do have to give credit where credit is due - families are falling apart, people are living paycheck to paycheck (that's putting a happy spin on things), parents are enduring sleepless nights worrying about what will become of their children and home. For a company that is criticized for being incompetent and employing morons, I have to say that Nationstar is very good at its job. All the employees at Nationstar should be very proud.

I have faxed all of the proof that we made payments, talked and told this story to at least 5 representatives for the company (learned to ask for a US rep), but it is still not fixed! I'm so frustrated. Very worried that it will affect my husband's credit rating, even though they say it won't. Nationstar = predatory, incompetent, low rent in every way. If you thought Bank of America was bad, you have now descended another circle in mortgage abyss. Here's what you can count on. Even if you are current on your mortgage, $12.00 an hour call center employees will call you several times a day to "help" you make your next payment. If you're less than 30 days behind on payment, you're considered not delinquent but in "default". Forget loan modifications, mediation or "working" with the home owner if you don't have top tier credit. Of course you wouldn't be with Nationstar if you did. That's why the first thing you hear when you call is an automated voice telling you Nationstar is a debt collector. Choose a different company. You can't do any worse than Nationstar. Those few happy customers on other threads either have great credit, were encouraged/paid by Nationstar to help with the deluge of complaints or better yet will be bitter in several months. Have been trying to qualify for a Home Modification for over two years! Documents lost or expired, resulting in resubmitting. Change of Points of Contact at least every 6 weeks. Non-responsive and a company that is so big that it does not care about those whom are experiencing hardships, including health issues and loss of employment. No help, whatsoever. Only requests to resubmit documents that have been sent multiple times, but have expired due to the Contact Person that is assigned to your application for a home modification. Relentless, and never ending ignorance of applications and responses to your hardship. See email response to representative of Nationstar for help in support.
In fact, I've been adversely pleading for a Home Modification for over two years now to no avail. I have furnished all information requested from Nationstar multiple times to hopefully be approved for this modification. Each time, time lapsed on the part of the Contact Person assigned to my application, without notification of any sort from the Contact Person, and upon my contacting my assigned contact, I was told that documents had expired, in turn resulting in the Contact requesting the same information again, and again.
Also, the Contact Person either got transferred to another department, without notification to me. I was told that the Contact Person no longer worked there, my information and documents could not be found, with the end result of starting the application all over again. All in all, I have been assigned another Contact Person at a minimum of five times. I was even told by one that I did not qualify due to never having missed a mortgage payment, and that I had to have missed at least three payments to qualify. Into the second month, I told myself that this was not right, so I immediately made the payments to become current and up to date.
I surely met the qualifications of a "Hardship". I was paying my mortgage, and letting my other debts become in arrears. Reason being, I was a Self Employed Insurance Agent, and owned my own agency. The company in which I was a Captive Agent, which means that I was restricted to selling insurance through this company only, was bought out by another company, and the new company required a Contract Change, which decreased my commissions by $28,000 per year.
That, along with my health, began my delinquency with Nationstar, and at the same time my husband's position was abolished and eliminated due to downsizing of personnel. My husband was out of work for over six months, with no incoming salary. During this time, my health took a downward spiral, and I am now permanently disabled, and cannot work. I am now being paid Disability Income through my company, but is only 3% of my base renewal commissions, which varies from month to month, which is a massive cut in an already decreased commission salary.
I am so far under water on my home. My loan is an "Interest Only" loan, which was the best loan for me at the time I purchased my home. I had just come out of a divorce, my credit score was excellent at approximately 800. I qualified for the loan with signature only, and no money down. However, the home's cost and purchase price was $260,000, which I was able to afford with a second mortgage at that time. In the eight years I've owned this home, the value of my home has gone from $270,000 to $129,000 due to the economic demise.
There is no way in this world that I am able to make the huge mortgage payments any longer due to my health, and the drastic decrease in salary. The owner of the company who has my second mortgage contacted me via phone a year ago, and without hesitation, he lowered my interest rate to 2.5%, and lowered my payment to half of what I was paying. He saw my newly late payments, and reached out to me with help. He went to the extent of communicating with Nationstar to try to get Nationstar to see the extent of my hardship, however Nationstar was not interested in helping. I'm sure there must be notation in my file referring to his request.
I do make sure that the second mortgage is paid due to the understanding and kindness of this person. I have requested, and received another, and the key word is "another" Home Modification Application. At this point in my life and health, I cannot go through all of the required information and documentation being submitted, and waiting for another Contact Person to decide whether, or not, to work on my case. I have engaged a Real Estate Attorney, Attorneys, and have been approved to go forward with a law suit via Trial by Jury.
I do not want to travel this route, but at this time, and all the effort I have put forth to get the help I need from Nationstar, my choices have come to this. Also, I would like someone at Nationstar, to know that I am and will make payments that I can afford at this time. I am housebound, and this is the only choice I have. Nationstar is a big company with a very small interest in what those whom are experiencing a true hardship are going through, and are not willing to give these people the help they deserve. Need I say more? There is no reason in this world that Nationstar cannot do something to help us, instead of the required documents being lost, or just plain out ignored.
Sorry for the book, however I am interested in whether or not I receive any sort of reply. The phone calls, also, must stop. My health requires "No Stress", whatsoever, and the phone calls are just an added depression of my health improvement, and my doctors have advised me to ignore the calls. Best regards, and I am sincerely hoping that YOU do read this, and may be able to reply with some suggestions.

I have my taxes and insurance paid from my escrow account with Nationstar Mortgage. Last year Nationstar was notified by my Insurance company and myself 6 weeks prior to the due date that our Insurance bill was due. Even with this notification from both of us, they failed to make payment before the Insurance lapsed. This was for my home in Florida in the middle of Hurricane season. When we demanded they make an immediate wire transfer to pay the Insurance, they simply made out another check from our escrow (the first one was en route to the insurance company...they say). 6 days later the insurance company had 2 checks in hand, and reinstated our policy.
Here is the fun part, Nationstar now showed our escrow as having insufficient funds, and required us to send a check to cover the balance. We did this immediately, only to have the check returned to a Miami branch of our bank (we live in Naples, FL). During this time that checks were flying around the country, they began the escrow analysis for the next year which suprisingly showed us with a shortfall, and would need extra payments for the next year. When we finally got the escrow money reinstated in the account, we asked for a reanalysis of the escrow, which took four months to get approved, and involved numerous letters and complaints to the Consumer Finance protection bureau and the Florida Office of Financial regulation.
When the escrow analysis was finally redone, they showed one month with no payment to my escrow. This was of course incorrect as we have had automatic bill pay set up through Nationstar since the account began, and all payments to escrow were made on time. I was unable to get this incorrect escrow analysis corrected, and finally gave up after 7 months of fighting. Worse customer service would be impossible!! They flat out steal your money, refuse to give it back and don't acknowledge your claims as valid. With all the focus on financial firms after 2008 I don't know how they are able to do this. In February 2013 I became unemployed and contacted Nationstar for assistance. After a month of trying to contact someone I emailed CustomerRelationsOfficer@nationstarmail.com and someone finally contacted me. Shortly after I received an email with an attachment outlining payments over the course of six months; they referred to this as an Unemployment Plan. This one page letter did not require a signature nor did it disclose any terms. I followed up with several phone calls inquiring if there’s a balloon payment at the end of the payments, the Nationstar rep told me no. At the end of the six months I was still unemployed so they extended the payments for another six months, once again never missing a payment nor paying late.
I landed a position in the seventh month and informed Nationstar, a rep informed me, in an email, that I can continue making the Unemployment Plan payment because my loan is now being considered for HAMP. I was told I was denied for excessive forbearance because I was on a forbearance plan. After going back and forth I asked them for a copy of the forbearance agreement, they emailed an unsigned agreement and then two week later I receive a copy of the agreement in the mail to sign… really after I made the payments they want me to sign the contract?
In a nut shell… I am 40k in the hole to Nationstar. My credit is destroyed. I am being sent demand letters for payment or I’ll received a NOD. I can’t get a loan to pay them off because I now have bad credit, and two days ago Nationstar denied me again for a loan mod for HAMP Tier I, Tier II, and in-house; this is most likely my tenth denial. I was denied for HAMP Tier I excessive forbearance, HAMP Tier II insufficient monthly payment reduction, In-house because my investor does not participate in loan modifications. A few months back I sent a letter to Nationstar requesting who my investor is; their response was US Bank in the Trustee.
I sent a certified letter to the President at US Bank requesting them to grant a loan Modification, they replied in a letter and stating that Nationstar has complete right to grant or deny a loan modification. I did some research and found out that my investor is the Lehman Brothers Holding Group, LLC. I also found out that several of the Board of Directors for Nationstar are former Lehman Brothers Senior VP and Managing Director. This is just the tip of the iceberg; I have every piece of documentation. I have spoken with lawyers and for some reason I cannot get help from anyone. I’ve been in my home for 14 years and do not want to move. Any suggestions??? Thanks.

I've already experienced this runaround with BofA and now I'm reliving it with Nationstar. They have no interest in helping anyone get a HAMP modification. And why should they. BofA is getting a $17 billion slap on the wrist for defrauding hardworking Americans of trillions of dollars.
So the lesson there for Nationstar is it is profitable to screw the American public and they won't be held accountable for their actions. I have no hope that they will do the right thing and this experience has taught me that I will never purchase a home through a mortgage lender ever again. Nationstar has a "F" rating with BBB (Was D-). Would you enter into contract with F rating? Stockholder report dated 5-8-14, Solutionstar (Part of Nationstar) plans on foreclosing on 20,000 properties in 2014. That is their mindset.
Things to consider: 1. If property is heading into foreclosure, file bankruptcy. Stops foreclosure and judge can look at Nationstar practices. 2. If you call reps, refuse to speak to other country reps. Say you only talk to US reps ( Ask what state rep is from.) Eventually you will get US rep and a recorded response. Ask for reps name & ID. Call next day to confirm any agreement. 3. Do not refinance a govt mortgage with Nationstar. Old mortgage may have better terms and beware of company with a F BBB rating. Better to refinance with another co. 4. Write or email govt. officials & whitehouse.gov for direct White House contact. Politicians are persuasive during election time. 5. Write or email local and national newspapers with your experience. Enough letters will start a news investigation.
BofA is now paying out billions $ for their greed. Nationstar needs the same treatment. These steps work. I once filed bankruptcy to stop foreclosure. After canceling bankruptcy, foreclosure stated again. I filed motions which unearthed deceptive practices. Bank soon gave me full title to house. I currently have Nationstar mtg. Will not refinance. Will not talk to foreign reps and email the media on status.

A couple of months ago I filed a complaint that Nationstar cannot process my autopay and each time blames me for supplying wrong routing number/account. Nationstar responded and after a few more attempts I gave up and filled in their paper form, attached a void check and faxed it to them. I received a letter acknowledging the fax and re-assuring me that the autopay would start July 1st. It is now August. Since July I am trying to find out what happened and today I finally received a letter stating that I only tried setting my autopay online and that I should do it on paper AGAIN. This has started in April. I really need help here!

Nationstar acquired the mortgage from Bank of America and now the property is in foreclosure and due to be sold tomorrow. Nationstar said they would work with us but sent papers to be signed by a certain date after the date they were suppose to be due back. They are still saying they will work with us but won't give you any information. They agreed to do a modification but within the same week of the agreement they sent the file to an attorney for foreclosure. It is as if they intended the foreclosure all along. We are interested in keeping the property and paying, we just can't get honest cooperation. Payments that they requested were sent in but we face a sale tomorrow.

We had our original loan through Bank of America. While during our modification process, BofA sold our loan to Nationstar. We were unaware of this sale until Nationstar started calling us to tell us our loan was delinquent. Nationstar raises our payments with no explanation whenever they feel like it. I feel like I have no rights! We make our payments every month on time and still feel like they are trying to steal our home from us. Our original loan stated that our PMI (Private Mortgage Insurance) would come off of the loan 5 years after our original purchase or before that if we had a qualifying percentage of the original value of our property. The 5 years has since passed and now Nationstar refuses to take off the PMI. I can't afford lawyer fees and hire a lawyer to go after them. This screams fraud and scam to me, yet I don't know where to turn to get help. I will be doing everything I can to figure out who needs to be aware of Nationstar's swindling. We refinanced our mortgage last June-July because of the great % rates being offered. In August our mortgage was sold to Nationstar. In September I called Nationstar because a posting on the current statement showed a little over $5K had been applied. The CSR explained it was a 'lender's incentive' and was split, a portion of it (amounting to one month’s mortgage pmt) was put in our suspense account (which I could take advantage of any month at my discretion) and the remainder posted to the principal. I asked from whom did this come from, my previous lender or Nationstar. They were not able to answer that question but assured me that it was not an error. I waited a few days, called again, got a different CSR, but asked the same questions; received the same answers. I still was not convinced. I waited 4 months before taking advantage of the monies in the suspense account and applying it to a mortgage payment.
Then I receive the notice that my monthly payment was being increased due to a deficit in the escrow account. Actually our insurance premium did go up $900 annually due to a flood in our home and the flooring having to be replaced. BUT, Nationstar increased our monthly mortgage payment by $200/mo., which totals $2,400 a year. They cannot provide answers as to why there is a $1,500 difference.
After five months (in May) I called and asked why couldn’t they apply some of the 'lender’s incentive', which was applied to my principal, to the escrow (covering the deficit) and return my monthly payments back to the original amount - where they were more manageable.
A couple of weeks later I get a letter from Nationstar advising that my account is in arrears and a monthly payment is due immediately. Of course I call to find out what is going on. Well, they discovered that I had not made a payment in January. I told them the payment had been made with the money that was in the suspense account. They told me that they had just reversed that entry (nice surprise) …. that the amount had been posted in error. Of course I had a ton of questions about reversing the ‘lender’s incentive’ per se, and how can they do that nine (9) months after telling me TWICE it was NOT an error. They told me it was not a lender’s incentive, it was an error on their part and they were very sorry.
The following month I receive a letter stating they had reversed the amount that had been applied to the principal 10 months earlier. (I guess it took them a month to discover the total concept of their error.) Here we are, the 1st of August …. Aarrrgggghhhhh!! I offered the solution of waiving the past due monthly payment only and they could keep the amount reversed on the principal. I told them I understand errors can occur but when I tried to bring it to their attention 9-10 months earlier TWICE, not only were they not concerned but I was assured by two different people that it was NOT an error. I explained that I think it only fair that both parties take a hit for their error…theirs in the amount of the monthly mortgage payment, mine in the amount of what was applied to the principal. For the time being, they have reversed all charges associated with the situation. Can I get the supervisor I’ve been working with to call me back …. Ppfffttttt!
Additionally, over the months, they post my payment, then they reverse it, then they post it … they also post erroneous amounts, i.e., $122, $10, $456 and then reverse those … our mortgage account is so jacked up you can’t make heads or tails of it …
Yes, I did contact an attorney …. He was arrogant with a bad attitude and demeanor. Can't really shop attorneys due to the consultation fees. Surely, an attorney will step up to lead a class action suit …. ONE CAN ONLY HOPE !! In the meantime, I guess we’re going to have to take a financial hit on % rates & closing costs and refinance with a reputable mortgage company before too much damage is done …
God forbid our mortgage be sold again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wonder if there is any way you can stipulate that the mortgage is not to be sold. It truly irks me that the customer is not contacted and advised prior to their loan being sold. This does not seem like a viable business practice ... especially when it turns out like this and seems to have affected a mass of homeowners!!

In 2011, the Beverly Hills bank that held our mortgage failed and our loan was taken over by FDIC. Several months later, we found out Nationstar had acquired our mortgage. We didn't find out the way a new customer of any reputable, responsible banking institution would find out. We found out after Nationstar finally contacted us by phone to inform us that we were in arrears. It turned out that they had been sending mail to the wrong address. Not the address of the home they had acquired the loan on, some other address, belonging to God-only-knows whom.
We had continued making payments to FDIC, never knowing about the change. They had our phone number, but it never occurred to anyone to call until they could begin doing what they do best: harass and lie. After we got that ominous foul-up settled, we began what has been a continuous series of problems with this so-called "business." The first was the discovery that Nationstar had been adding charges for homeowners insurance that we didn't need, since we already had homeowners insurance. Nationstar never asked about that. They just assigned us to an insurance company in Springfield, Ohio (that they happen to own) and added the cost to our mortgage payment. It took us many weeks to straighten that out - while they held our money - and get the hundreds of overpaid dollars back. Since then there have been many claims that we were behind in our mortgage payments. Those claims were false, and caused my wife and I much distress and hours of trying to communicate with anyone at the company who seemed interested in mortgage services.
About two months ago dozens of realtors began calling us asking if we wanted to sell our home. It was through one of them that we discovered that our loan was "in default." Nationstar was claiming (we discovered through more repeated attempts to contact someone at Nationstar who was in the business of keeping track of money) we owed them more than $12,000! We have never missed a single payment. This is the third house we have owned in our 44 years of marriage. We have never missed a mortgage payment. We have lived in our current home for 17 years and owe only a little over $100,000 on a home which is now worth about $750,000 here in Los Angeles.
Following our initial harrowing introduction to this group of fraudsters, my wife had started making all of our payments via registered mail. Every single payment for every single month was signed for by a Nationstar employee. We owe them nothing, but it has taken 2 months to finally climb the ladder of corporate incompetence to get to someone who works there to acknowledge that facts. Still, the default process goes forward, as the giant, idiotic, heedless machine that is Nationstar grinds forward, chewing up our peace of mind, hours spent on the phone, and lots of money spent with our accountant.
We have sent documented proof - including cancelled checks and registered mail receipts - of their unconscionably unprofessional behavior, but it seems they can't be stopped. Next stop, a personal injury attorney. I plan to file complaints with the CFPB, the Attorney Generals of California and Texas, and possibly the FBI (fraud). At this point, I feel like I'm living in some hell, where accountability and the laws of the land mean nothing.

Wow. Looks like this has happened to many people after reading the comments of Nationstar customers. We too were BOA customers and our loan was sold to Nationstar in 2013. BOA began charging us incorrect property tax. Our monthly payment increased over $100 a month. Turns out, they added property tax from another property we own to this Nationstar property in error. So when Nationstar bought our loan, I was already in the process of trying to get this corrected. After speaking to countless people and faxing documents several times, Nationstar finally corrected our monthly payment and updated the property tax info. I even had to do a 3 way call with our local property tax people and Nationstar.
In the meantime, I continued to pay ON TIME the amount our monthly payment was SUPPOSED to be thinking they would go back and update this. They refused to go back and change anything. So guess what. They reported us to the Credit Bureau as being late for several months, as I was only paying what was supposed to be due so they kept applying that back to the incorrect amount and eventually it looked like I skipped a payment. Now we aren't able to borrow any money or do much of anything due to this negative credit info being sent to the Credit Bureau. Just tried to call and talk to them about this and after being put on hold forever by someone speaking broken English, I was finally told they couldn't help me.

So after Nationstar taking almost a year and a half with the loan modification, we got approved to have our mortgage payment lowered by $89.00 dollars. And how does that help us? They refused to take off the pmi insurance off which mean they lose NO monies when the house is foreclosed on so they don't care if they help people like us out. They would just rather take our home and turn around and sell it to make more money off us. We owe $90,000 on our home it is only worth 30,000 at best so we were left with no other choice but to file chapter 13. I have not contacted them yet in regards to this issue but talking to them takes more than an hour and usually nothing gets resolved.
Another problem I had with them in February of 2014 was putting my money in a suspense account and then reporting to the credit Bureau that I missed my payment. They say that my escrow went up. I have been working with Spencer in the deed in lieu department since March 31, 2014. I continually attempted to make contact with him to see what was going on with my file. Finally on May 7th he told me that Carrington Mortgage (the 2nd) was not cooperating with them on a settlement. I made contact with Gretchen (who was awesome!!) at Carrington and she said no one from Nation Star had even attempted to make contact with their company. She promptly emailed me a letter giving them consent to speak with them. I had it signed and returned to her by May 8th. Spencer also sent the settlement offer that same day within minutes of her getting the authorization. Gretchen was able to put her file together and submit and obtain approval for the settlement and returned it back to Spencer prior to the end of the business day. Things seemed like they were going right along, I met with the inspector on Friday, May 9th and Spencer emailed me saying they were ordering a copy of the title (which I was told was already ordered a few times).
On Friday (5/30) I received an email from Gretchen asking if I had heard anything from Spencer, we both had been attempting to make contact with him now for a couple of weeks. When I finally reached him via email he told me that he was still waiting to get the approval from Carrington on the settlement. I forwarded Spencer's email to Gretchen who promptly replied by attaching his email confirming receipt of the approved settlement documents. Carrington finally received the payment on Tuesday (6/17) and sent out the Settled in full letter to me and Spencer. After confirming receiving the documents he forwarded them to the attorney's office (per his email) to get the final deed in lieu document drafted for our signatures. It is important to point out that I started this entire process because of the letter they sent offering me up to 7,000.00 in relocation funds. Spencer did tell me that since they were having to settle with my second mortgage I would get a flat 3,000.00 in reimbursement funds.
After hearing nothing from Spencer I sent him an email on Tuesday (6/24) asking about the documents. He responded saying he had was "escalating with them quite a bit." I am not even sure what that means, but later replied they would need my (now) ex-husband to sign them as well. After assuring him I could get him to sign the papers I was told in order to save time he would email them to me and I would get them signed, notarized and overnight them back. We waited everyday with tons of unanswered emails to finally hear that they were not ready. This went on until Friday, July 11th, I finally received an email from Spencer with a UPS tracking number. They decided to overnight the papers instead. I was able to check the tracking number and saw that the label had been generated but not sent. I also noticed it was being sent to the vacant house and not my current address. I immediately emailed Spencer and was assured they fixed it, big surprise that was a lie too.
They sent the documents on Monday (7/14) to the vacant house and luckily I was able to contact UPS and pick them up at the warehouse. I was able to get them signed, notarized and returned the very next day. We then exchanged several emails about what happens next and when I would get my relocation's funds. On Thursday (7/17) Spencer said they would sign the papers and then he would overnight my relocation funds out either that night or the next. I went through the weekend and received nothing. After several emails and phone calls (that resulted in leaving messages) he returned my email yesterday saying he would have it ready and email me the tracking number by end of business day.
Today after several unanswered phone calls and emails he finally responds with, "I had management tell me that because of the value and because they paid out the 2nd lien, paying cash for keys would result in a negative value and they would not approve." That is what the entire deal was...it was all lies. I asked to have contact with a supervisor and Spencer responded, "The supervisor was the one who made the decision, not me." I was never told at anytime that I would not get my relocation funds or that the amount would be reduced due to the second mortgage. This is unreal...what a bunch of liars. I don't know how people like this can sleep at night.

I'll be glad to be "responsible for what I write." - NATIONSTAR SUCKS. The biggest gang of crooks I've had the misfortune to encounter. Like everyone else, I got suckered into a home equity loan when the banks were on a feeding frenzy. It went through Taylor, Bean, & Whitaker (later indicted for loan fraud); then went to Saxon, another major gang of thugs; then Ocwen, which wasn't too bad; then, at the moment a "modification" was effected, it went to Nationstar.
They have reneged on every agreement, didn't even recognize the modification for nearly a year, which assisted in building up an unpayable "back due" amount. Always requested lots of paperwork they already had, and kept shifting the ground rules underfoot. YESTERDAY THEY FORECLOSED, and for me, it's a death sentence, so I don't mind exposing these jerks as they really are. See the Kindle EBook "Don't Do It!" for a serious look at home equity loans and the companies that "service" them.
I will give them a Pyrrhic victory, one which leaves the taste of ashes in their mouths, leaving them with an unusable mess, and as much bad publicity as I can manage. How I wish we could leave less than a one-star "experience rating." Mine would be about ten stars in the opposite direction.

Fell behind with our mortgage payments last year due to some health issues. Tried to talk to our dedicated foreclosure specialist but that got us nowhere. Now we are trying to make a sufficient payment on our account and they will not allow us. We called them to let them know we could not make a payment until a certain day and now they have turned our account over to a lawyer to start foreclosure.
Just today I called to make a payment and they want over seven thousand dollars plus attorney cost. We did get a modification a few last year but lost a part of our income that we had when we did the modification paperwork. Trying to save our home but they truly do not care. We have children and one child is special needs, but that does not make a difference to them.
Our mortgage payment is not one that we can pay with one full paycheck, but would be more manageable if we could split the payment and have asked them if we could do this. Here we are 51 years old and the loan was modified to 40 years at over a thousand a month. All we want is to make payment on our loan and get caught up. Calling gets us no where, no one sent us any letters when we fell behind or anything, just a regular statement each month. Hope they are truthful and really want to help, but so far it is just pay us a large sum of money.

I initiated a Deed in Lieu on my house in June 2013. Nationstar was the junior lien holder on the property. A settlement with Nationstar was agreed upon in Sept 2013 by and with Greentree- the senior lender. Nationstar was paid the agreed upon settlement funds to release their lien and release me from the deficiency of the loan in Nov 2013. The property was returned to Greentree and the deal was suppose to have been finalized (in Nov 2013). The settlement funds were "misapplied in error" back in Nov 2013 by Nationstar. Therefore the lien was not released and I was reported monthly by Nationstar as delinquent on my payments to the credit agencies from Nov 2013 through April 2014 on a house I no longer owned. Meanwhile the property went up for sale in Dec 2013 with a lien on the title! Greentree assured me (in Oct 2013) that Nationstar had released their lien and I would get the appropriate documents releasing me from the lien forthcoming.
I made numerous phone calls in Nov and Dec 2013 to Nationstar without resolution. I checked daily the register of deeds to confirm that Nationstar had released the lien to no avail. Jan 2014, I continued to make calls to both Greentree and Nationstar. In Feb 2014 I got really pissed off and started filing complaints with anyone and everyone I could. After notifying Fannie Mae that her property, that was for sale had a lien on it, lo and behold, Greentree suddenly got their rear in gear and started to assist in resolving this matter (March 2014). Oh, and there happened to be a buyer chomping at the bit to buy the property too. Finally in April 2014, Nationstar applied the settlement funds correctly to my loan and released the lien. But I did not get the 1099-C, the deficiency waiver or my credit reinstated for the months that they incorrectly reported me as delinquent (I didn't own the property). So on through April, May, more phone calls with no resolution.
Into June 2014, finally I made a complaint to the BBB. Finally- I got them to admit they did not apply the settlement payment correctly, they forwarded the 1099-C for tax purposes and Nationstar has contacted the credit agencies to remove the delinquencies. I still need them to provide a deficiency waiver to me at this time. So I am almost there! It has been the longest and most stressful 13 months of my life. I have cried endless tears and contemplated ending my life. This should all have been resolved 8 months ago! So I guess what I want to say is even though these mortgage/servicing companies play their dirty tricks, treat customers like dirt, write and call until you get what you want. Borrowers like myself and the thousands of others who have been jerked around by these companies need to play them at their own game. Keep fighting until you get resolution because they are counting on you giving up! Write and call every possible place you can! Believe me I know it isn't easy, but I am proud to say that I have done it and I am almost there! And I won't stop until I get my deficiency waiver. I hope this helps, even if it is only one person.

I have been a customer of Bank of America for more than 14 years and never once been late on my mortgage. A little over a year ago, it got sold to Nationstar. I continue making my automated payment from my account the same way I have been making for 14 years. Then, all of a sudden, they started by saying they did not receive my payment. I was able to show they were wrong. Now they claim I am not making my property tax payment and insist they must make it for me. I refuse and now I constantly get harassed with phone calls and the threat of destroying my credit. There should be a class action case against the company. They are nothing but thieves.

Was hounded first by Loan Depot on behalf of Nationstar to refinance our home. Was told we were perfect for the HARP program. 3 1/2 weeks later, Loan Depot said they were unable to help us. I had confirmed with Nationstar that Loan Depot was acting on their behalf. A few months later, we were constantly being bombarded with emails, US mail and phone calls pretty much begging us to refinance. We said, "Why not?"
We began our refinance with actual Nationstar on 4/17/2014. Since then, we have been through THREE different mortgage professionals. They seem to have a high turnover there. Seriously unprofessional. Our third one, unfortunately, had our refinance dropped on her lap, but she is doing a good job trying to pick up the pieces. Since then, we have had to submit documents eight times. Some of the documents were just re-submissions because the bank statements and pay stubs were out of date. After all, it is now 7/16/2014, three months later.
The biggest problem we had was they were asking for a letter of explanation if we owned a completely different address. The address was down the street from us and they told us it was because we had sent a homeowner's policy with the other address on it. I went through all my emails I had sent, and this was completely false. They just screwed up. Personally, we only really wanted to knock 5 years off our loan so we could save more for retirement. At this point, we would be better off just paying an extra $100 a month and we could shorten it the same without all this aggravation.

My mortgage was transferred to Nationstar. Shortly after I got a notice saying they got a notice that my flood insurance was cancelled and I needed to purchase another one. There has never been a flood insurance policy on my property, all the other mortgage companies I had said it was not needed as well as all of the insurance companies I dealt with. When I called they could not give me any info on my cancelled policy. I asked them to look at the FEMA site, it is clear I am not in a flood zone. She said they don't do that. I had to have FEMA send a LOMA. This is a time consuming and could cost $400 if you have an agency assist you. I started the process. During that process I got a Elevation Certificate (EC) at the suggestion of a real-estate friend. The EC cost me $300. The surveyor said your house is clearly not in a flood zone. When calling NationStar about another issue I mentioned it to their rep Carla ** who said I can see that you don't need flood insurance we should not have placed a forced policy on your mortgage. I will have the forced policy removed. She said I should send her the EC just for the record.
A month later, I got a bill for the forced flood insurance. Almost $5000. I don't know who the policy is through but I bet it is with a subsidiary of theirs. What a racket. My LOMA did come through. When I spoke to a rep at FEMA she said your house is clearly not in a flood zone. I said yes but my mortgage company is requiring it. I have faxed the LOMA to Nationstar. I expect they will come up with another issue. I believe they will do anything to charge me more. They need to make money somewhere. If you know of a class action lawsuit against them I may join it as I am sure I am not the only one they have done this to. I am also looking to refinance just to get away from them. They also neglected to pay my homeowners insurance so that policy was cancelled and I called about it. They said yes we have the bill and should have paid it we will expedite it, we will send it out in the next 3-5 days.

I was in the process of modifying my 2nd mortgage with BoA last fall when BoA then sold it to Nationstar. It's been nothing but lost paperwork, not signed paperwork, and verbal assurances from Nationstar reps stating that they would honor the modification on the 2nd mortgage. But then in June I get called and a letter from Nationstar stating that their "investor" does not participate in the modification program and thus I have been denied and owe over $30K in back mortgage and fees. This is ridiculous - if I had $30K at my disposal, I wouldn't be in this situation in the first place.
My husband is currently on long-term disability, and our income is cut in half. It is a stretch to even pay the first mortgage and all our monthly bills, let alone paying the 2nd mortgage in full. Just today I called Nationstar and there is nothing they can do. The rep said I can appeal and/or get another company to buy and re-finance the loan. Well, since I owe $30K and they've already messed up my credit rating, how in the world would another company pick up this loan?!? This is just causing more stress upon an already stress-filled life with my husband's injuries.

A new house was purchased early on and then sold off to Nationstar. For the first year of the loan in which the home builder took care of the loan it was great. Fairly simple load, 265k, 15 year and 2.75%. Once sold into mortgage hell with Nationstar Mortgage the fun began. My original loan terms state that my payment is late unless received before the 16th of each month. Well Nationstar being the debt collect, loan service company they are, are trying to change my terms.
If I do not make my payment before the 10th of each month then they will charge me $10 for payment online and $20 for over the phone. I have spoken to them before regarding this issue and the other day I wanted to make my payment on the 11th of the month. Well of course I had to deal with them over the phone since I was not going to pay $10 to make a payment. Well I was greeted with the convenience fee speech for making my payment "LATE". They wanted to negotiate with me on the fee and after allowing them the knowledge of my original loan terms.
After being told they would waive the fee this time as a service to me, I had to again lash out at them educating them that my original loan terms will not be changed. I refuse to pay their business cost associated with Western Union. I will continue to fight them since my original loan term mentions nothing about Western Union payments and paying before the 10th to avoid a convenience fee. I have always had problems with them. When they first bought my loan, they called me every day after the first of the month telling me my loan is late and they were calling as a reminder and courtesy to me. They are more a debt collector then a loan servicer. SELL MY LOAN Nationstar!

I have had different people tell me different things re my loan and how to check on its status. I leave messages for my "loan officer" that are never returned. I am again applying because we are not paying our bills and instead pay our mortgage. This is causing huge problems. It seems we have been getting the runaround since late last year and although I have complained to them and others, nothing has changed or improved. I have no idea why this is allowed to continue. My loan was transferred from BOA to Nationstar in the middle of a loan modification. After a while according to NS I was denied because “I declined the modification”. I spent time, prayer and effort going through the modification with BOA… so I don’t know why NS would lie like that. Why would I decline? When I asked how I declined whether in writing or over the phone, email or fax, they could not tell me not even the date I was supposed to have declined.
I had no choice but to restart our modification with Nationstar but every time I called them about paper work I've sent in they claim they never received it or one department is telling me that the other department did not update docs or did not receive the requested information. When I call for a status sometimes I run into conflicting information, no two departments really know what the other is doing. Or maybe that’s how it’s set up.
I’m a hardworking father of 4 and now my family of 6 is looking at foreclosure about to be put out of our home. In my honest opinion, I strongly believe this company is only in business to rip families from their homes. Their entire system is set up so families can fail when dealing with them. I can’t believe that while working with them we are constantly receiving letters from their lawyer stating that our home will be sold in August. What will I do with a wife working on her BA full-time, a daughter entering college, 2 daughters in middle school and a toddler who is overcoming multiple medical issues? These people are heartless. Right now I’m still working with them on the new modification. Only God knows what the end result will be.

The letter we received from BOA stated that they have forwarded all our paperwork to Nationstar. Nationstar had contacted us to let us know that since we had been approved by BOA before they bought our mortgage, that we were automatically approved with them. They stated that they just had to make sure they had all the paperwork from BOA. The problem we had was not with Nationstar but BOA. BOA did not properly post our "probation payments". Nationstar caught the mistake and kept us updated. I never once had anyone from Nationstar be nasty to me on the phone. They called us about every 2 weeks to let us know what was going on. Anytime we talked to them I always wrote down who I spoke with and the date, just in case we had a problem. Thankfully once they straighten out the posting problems from BOA, it was clear sailing!!!!!!

This is absolutely the worst mortgage company I have ever dealt with - they lie and they are crooks. I struggled with my mortgage due to some life changes - and I contacted Nationstar (my mortgage company) to inquire about getting refinanced to make payments where I could reasonably make them. The representative told me I was uneligible because I had not missed any payments. I finally notified Nationstar that I was requesting a short sale and explained the reasons, I contacted a real estate agent who had 3 pre-qualified buyers wanting to buy the property - at a fair marketable price. One customer wanted to pay cash for the house - and Nationstar refused.
Nationstar also refused to sell to either of the other 2 pre-qualified buyers. Nationstar continued to harass me and say they were going to do a foreclosure on me even though I notified them of my intent and had the 3 qualified buyers. It was only after I wrote the Attorney General's office and the Better Business Bureau that Nationstar moved forward with a sale. They also cheated me out of money owed to me. I can't believe the government allows this place to continue to do business even though numerous lawsuits have been filed against the company and the complaints continue to be in the thousands. What can we do to stop this and to get another class-action lawsuit against these crooks?

Our Mortgage was transferred from BofA to Nationstar in April of 2013. About one month prior, I received the letter from BofA stating that the transfer was taking place. I received the welcome letter from Nationstar and checked out their website. I also read online reviews on sites like this and I was completely mortified that my mortgage was heading to Nationstar. I set up my online account and called them just to make sure that everything was transferring smoothly, as I was expecting the worst.
Up to this point, I can say that I am happy with Nationstar. I transfer my monthly payment from my BofA account to Nationstar every month so I have a record of when the payment is made. On the day that the payment is scheduled to go to Nationstar, I check my account online on their website, and the payment is always credited and the site is updated by 1PM on that day.
I have not applied for a loan modification or tried to do something different with my escrow so I cannot comment on that. But what I can say is that I have made my monthly payment every month and have not had any issues with Nationstar.

Like most on here, my mortgage was sold off to Nationstar from Bank of America in 2013. Unlike most, I never had any problems with BOA. As long as my account was posted accurately and my taxes were paid, I was content. The problems started at the transfer. I was NOT notified of the transfer until mid-April 2013 that the loan was transferred AFTER I paid my April mortgage to BOA. The transfer letter stated it closed in early March...thanks for the notice! I was able to clean that mess up fairly easily, no big deal, problems happen and I have always had a laid back attitude towards problems. As long as it gets fixed quickly and to my satisfaction...we are good.
Unfortunately, the problems didn't stop there. Flash forward a few months and I start getting tax bills (county, local, every place I owed taxes). I call Nationstar and was told that there was money in my escrow transferred from BOA, they weren't sure why the taxes weren't paid and did pay them. Again...annoyed, but fine...as long as they got paid. Let's jump ahead to 2014, the county I reside in has a website and you can see when your taxes were paid. Lo and behold...my 2014 county taxes were not paid. What's more embarrassing is that anyone can look up my tax information if they know my address. It embarrasses me because I have NEVER paid any bill late...I am not that person.
Anyways, I called NS and they tell me that their system shows I am not due to pay taxes until 2015. After telling them that that is obviously not true...I was told they will put in a "work order" and investigate the problem. A few weeks pass and I check my county taxes again and the taxes are STILL not paid! Again, on the phone. This time I was told that it is scheduled for payment and NS will cover the cost of the late fees and penalties (I would hope so). Although highly annoyed, at least it was taken care of.
Today, I check my mail and I have 2 tax bills!! Local and county!! What is the point of an escrow if your taxes aren't paid? At this point, I would rather just put that money in my savings and pay it myself. I refuse to have to call the mortgage company every year to make sure they pay my taxes. This has been the worst company I have dealt with. You do everything right to be a responsible person only to have so done screw you over. If I encounter 1 more problem, I will be refinancing and I would strongly recommend others to explore the same option.

Nationstar Mortgage bought my home loan from First Horizon a few years ago while I was in Chapter 13 bankruptcy and successful post bankruptcy discharge they mailed me a letter stating I was $3800 delinquent. I called my Chpt 13 bkk attorney and he explained but very poorly I should have paid him an $500 extra months earlier to deem my mortgage current and I was living on borrowed money as it was and then I learned the hard way how nasty Nationstar can be when you don't pay up your lawyer and bring the mortgage deemed current by the trustee.
I filed a home loan modification with Nationstar in May 2013 and it took till August of 2013, after tons of emails and phone calls back and forth, before they stated they had everything. Then I called and emailed them every 2 weeks for months in a row only to be told it was in 'underwriting' being processed. In March 2014, I was successfully discharged from Chapter 13 bankruptcy and Nationstar mailed me a statement a few weeks later stating they were not paid in full. I had to email the consumer financial protection bureau several times with scanned copies of my bkk documents to get Nationstar to reduce the $3800 to $1700 to bring the mortgage current.
In April 2014, I also complained to MMI-money mgmt international and they contacted Nationstar on my behalf only to get the runaround for weeks at a time leaving me in limbo. MMI told me on the phone in May 2014 that my mortgage was modified April 30 2014 but had no further details saying my account had been escalated and I had to talk with the escalation people at MMI and then I got more delays and phone transfers to people who knew nothing about my Nationstar mortgage account standing only to transfer me to the next escalation person.
This week I got a letter from Nationstar stating it was in response to my complaint with the consumer financial protection bureau stating if I paid $1715, my mortgage would be deemed current and my mom is loaning me $1715 and I will mail it a certified bank check via USPS priority mail with tracking. Now...about my home loan modification, they said they claimed to mail me the packet in May 2014 and called me several times trying to work with me on the home loan modification. Well come June 1 2014, they said I hadn't responded and cancelled the home loan modification...ugh!
They never mailed me a home loan modify packet ever. I checked my mail 2x a day and never got a thing. They never called me either only to claim on the phone, "Oh yes sir we did, we tried to call you several times in May 2014..." That's BS! I had complaints with the consumer financial protection bureau and MMI and nobody in May 2014 would confirm my home loan had actually been modified. Both the consumer financial protection bureau and MMI had been in contact with Nationstar since April 2014 when I filed my complaints.
Now, Nationstar tells me on the phone today once I bring the mortgage current I can start over and reapply for a home loan modification. The guy on the phone today lied to me and told me 3x promising to email me the packet and guess what, it never arrived...go figure! So I logged into my Nationstar secure email account and complained I want the application. I also had to file brand new complaints with MMI and the consumer financial protection bureau. Nationstar ALWAYS sends me bills stating how much I owe them still to be deemed current but they don't send a home loan modification packet certified mail so they are sure I got it and signed for it...that's really messed up!
Nationstar has screwed me over good. I am a disabled veteran and when I can apply for a VA home loan mortgage refinance with Quicken loans in March 2015, you have to wait one year from bankruptcy discharge to apply, I'm going to do my best to make it happen. May God be with me! NATIONSTAR MORTGAGE IS A CROOK AND A LIAR!

Most of the problems that I have read with these complaints I had with Bank of America. When Bank of America sold my loan over to Nationstar, it has not been nearly as bad as when I was with Bank of America. So far I have not had any major complaints with Nationstar. While with B of A, they really screwed us over. We were trying to modify and after a year with going through what we did with B of A, we opted out of the modification. Since we opted out, I told B of A to remove our escrow account and to put us back into the original loan amount that we were paying for many years.
Then after getting back into our original loan for about three months, B of A put our escrow account back in and would not accept our payment unless we paid it in full. Since they would not accept our payment unless it was in full, they foreclosed on us within three months. So we had to come up with a very large payment to get out of foreclosure. We were able to save our house at that time. But since then we were making a larger house payment and fighting with B of A to get the escrow removed.
Then loan got turned over to Nationstar. Since we've been with Nationstar, we have had no issues at all. They have been pretty good with us. We tried to do the modification again but it was not accepted. So we decided to leave well enough alone, then after about a year being with Nationstar, we asked if there was a possibility of removing the escrow account. They were able to do it for us. I think they did it for us because there was a class action lawsuit against Bank of America for putting escrow accounts when they should not have been.
So overall I can't say I've had a terrible experience with Nationstar. My home loan now is much more affordable on a month-to-month basis and we have no problems being able to pay our taxes on our home. It's allowing us to live much more comfortable throughout the year. But after reading all your complaints, I will keep my eyes open, and watch very closely to what is happening with our home loan. I had to put this post up just because I felt that Nationstar treated us much better than Bank of America ever did. Bank of America forced us to make decisions that will hurt us for very long time.

I was fully eligible for a HARP modification and received pre-qualification for $100,000 in Keep Your Home California money which would have reinstated my defaulted loan with Nationstar. In January I notified Nationstar that I had the funds to reinstate. I was advised that my file had been flagged by the legal department and the legal department would give me a call. Each two weeks I called and was told the same thing. Each thirty days they postponed my foreclosure sale. I called, they said the customer service agent could not speak with me, that the file HAD to be handled by the legal department and until they released it there was nothing I could do, not pay the $100,000 or submit my paperwork to Nationstar to reinstate my loan.
On June 10, 2014 they foreclosed on my home unknown to me. I coincidentally spoke to a customer service agent on the evening of June 10th and again was told that my case was still pending a legal hold. They suggested I go to the court and get a copy of a legal document and fax it to them so they could release my file, that might help. I asked why did they not tell me that for six months. I did get the form, faxed it and called the next day. They said they got the form and were trying to get the file released from the legal department, but I should get a hold of KYHC and reinstate my request for the funds to reinstate.
The next day I was served with papers from a man who told me he owned my home and I would have to leave. I was shocked. He had bought my home at auction. I called Nationstar and they said that they were sorry but they knew nothing about a sale and they were sorry that this was happening but just do as they ask and continue with the process. I have now been served with eviction documents, my house has not changed hands meaning no trustees deed has been recorded and I am now being sued by someone who paid money for my home but does not have clear title.
I am devastated. For six months they lied to me when I could have reinstated and received a modification if needed at that time. Their records reflect every call I made. It reflects what they told me. They lead me on and would not accept my money to save my home where I raised my family. I followed their instructions to the letter and they handcuffed me with their "legal department hold" until they could foreclose. FNMA was the investor. Don't just blame Nationstar, FNMA or your investor actually gives the go ahead to foreclose in many if not all cases. I need assistance to bring attention to my and others cases. This is just wrong. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

My mortgage had changed hands a few times originally I had refinanced with quicken loans. A seamless and well executed transition took place to Bank of America, all while maintaining weekly deductions from my checking account for expedited repayment plan. Then the mortgage goes to Nationstar and the problems begin. Fortunately I had received a letter from Bank of America stating the new account number and address to submit payment. Shortly later, I received a letter from Nationstar that they would not respect the already existing payment plan and I had to make full payment by my due date. Fortunately, I was able to make the full payment I had no budget for.
Eventually nationstar sent me a letter to start on their expedited payment plan. I gladly agreed, made my normal monthly payment, noticed they started taking the weekly payments, so I knew I would not have to make another large monthly payment. Wrong - Nationstar did not apply the payment until after two months passed, dinged my credit. All while collecting not only the payment but an additional months payment and additional 'servicing' fees.

I really don't know where to start. It's organization filled with employees with their own agenda. One individual will tell you one thing while the next one will tell you something else. I can't find two employees on the same page. Their big words are help and dedicated which I'm still trying to find out who fits that categories. I have a loan specialist who claims he is dedicated and haven't heard from him since last October when he was trying to help me get my mortgage balance to zero to apply for a loan modification to only find out 3 months later I didn't have a disability, death, or divorce to contend with.
Later finding out Nationstar started paying my property taxes and property insurance due to not having escrow through the loan modification process when I had been paying for both since 2001. I had never received any document pertaining to this until I requested them. The balance is over $7000 which I'm suppose to pay an extra $700 a month to catch up with the balance along with the mortgage. I could go on and on but the real question is how would one protect or help themselves while going through experiences like the ones at Nationstar.

Back in November of 2013, I changed homeowners insurance companies. The old insurance company sent me a reimbursement check for a whole six months of insurance, since Nationstar had just paid them. I deposited the check and then turned around and called Nationstar to pay that amount on my escrow account. They took my payment and gave me a confirmation number telling me that it would go straight to my escrow. To make a long story short, they never credited it to my escrow and it took me over six months to get them to tell me where the extra money went. It was just credited to my principal, not to a mortgage payment, but just absorbed into the principal. This allowed them to start charging me $100 more a month on my regular monthly payment to try to make up for the escrow shortage. Still haven't gotten it totally worked out, but they did finally did return almost all of the original insurance check amount to a suspended account.
Now, I have to track down someone in escrow to show them that they are way overcharging me in escrow every month. Luckily for me, I kept detailed records on every call, etc. The other thing about Nationstar that really gets me is the fact that if you fall behind on your mortgage they harass you by sending you a letter every day (sometimes by registered mail) and calling you several times a day. I don't need a letter or a call everyday to tell me that I am late on my payment. The fees to pay your payment online or by a phone representative are also crazy high ($19). Our mortgage was sold to them, and we can't wait to get out from under them.

I've had the same problems with Nationstar as well. I applied for a modification over 1 year ago and encountered horrific treatment from this company. I was asked to fax the same 21 pages of documents over and over. I spent over $100 in just on faxing costs.
After more than a year, they finally said that they would modify my mortgage. They miscalculated the estimated escrow cost. They modified my loan allowing them to hold double the amount that it would take to pay my escrow fees. My taxes and insurance cost $2500 per year to maintain and Nationstar is requiring that I hold $5000 in the account. I phoned them to ask about this miscalculation and was told it would be fixed. It has now been over 3 months and nothing has been corrected.
In the meantime, they have placed my account on delinquent status and are preparing to foreclose. I think this "company" maneuvers in such a way as to make it impossible to exercise one's rights under the law. There has just been too many incidents of mishandling of people's accounts for me to believe this is not calculated on their part.
I have spoken to my so-called "single point of contact" probably 2 times. She has never been available and never returns your call. It is impossible to get anything resolved with Nationstar. They pass the buck from department to department. It's not until their backs are against the wall that they admit fault, but then will not do anything to help resolve. These people are manipulative, dishonest and disgusting. I certainly do hope that there will be a class action suit against them!
I guess the penalty for being unscrupulous is not enough to deter this disgusting business practice.

I was laid off from my job in September of 2009. I called Bank of America at that time to find out what options I had. I was told that there were no options available to me. I paid my mortgage on time every month and there were no problems with it. Shortly thereafter, I received a letter stating that my mortgage had been sold to Nationstar. I have tried on numerous occasions to work with them to find out if there were any options available because I was still having to pay my entire mortgage payment even though I was unemployed. On more than one occasion, I was told that there was an unemployment program, but since I no longer drew unemployment I did not qualify.
While I was drawing unemployment, I tried to get help from Nationstar, but was told that unemployment income did not count (I am a single mother and the sole source of income in my family). Last year, I received a foreclosure letter, and I had to get an attorney's help to keep them from foreclosing on my home. The attorney told me that she would be working on a modification, and as long as she was in negotiations with the company they could not foreclose on my property. Here it is one year later, and I have just received ANOTHER foreclosure notice on my home.
This is the home that I grew up in, and my children were raised in as well.

We started our loan modification with Bank of America over 2 years ago. Every time we sent them the packages that they had requested, they asked for more claiming either that they have not received the information (even though we send everything 3 ways, by mail, e-mail and fax!!!) or that they are outdated. Once when they ran out of excuses for not receiving our information, they kept changing our contact persons. At first claiming that she is on vacation for a month and then by assigning our file to another contact person who would go on a vacation for a month and...
After 2 years, we finally got a chance to talk to a local person at Bank of America. We made an appointment and went to their office in San Diego. We took all the documents with us for the 20th time. We sat down and went over everything with the Bank of America representative. The contact person approved that our file is complete and that it will be processed and approved shortly. After about one week we received a letter from Bank of America and Nationstar Mortgage Company that our loan has been transferred to Nationstar Mortgage Company!!! And that we have to start everything all over again!
We have been going through the same scam with Nationstar Mortgage Company that we had to go through with Bank of America. They keep asking for documents, we keep supplying them with what they need, through registered mail, e-mail and fax, to phony contact persons who never reply to us and when we call asking for them, they themselves tell us that they do not have such an employee!!! It is now close to 3 years that Bank of America and Nationstar Mortgage Company have been playing games with us through the scam of either needing more documents or that the documents are getting outdated (due to their own delays) and keep assigning our case no existence personnel. And sending them on vacation and assigning a new one to our case!
When we ask Nationstar Mortgage to give us an address so we may go to their office and present them with the documents they claim they have never received, they reply that they do not have an office in San Diego, or anywhere else for that matter, for someone to go in and present them with the required documents. I believe this is immoral, unethical and must be illegal (and so typical of Bank of America). All the banks and mortgage companies who conduct their business in any state, or a large city, must have a local office for their clients to go in to take care of their business. I think this is time for a class action law suit. We have every single document to show the entire scam of Bank of America and Nationstar Mortgage Company.

Then yesterday I receive a phone call from Nationstar telling me they were charging me late fees, that I am behind on my payments and have no record of speaking with anyone there. I have always paid my mortgage one month in advance and pay more than my monthly payment so to be told they have no idea who I spoke with, have no record of my bi-weekly payment plan, are charging me late fees was quite the shock. I feel like there has been a security breach that someone had all my personal information yet Nationstar has no record, knowledge of this representative. I asked to speak with someone in their fraud department and neither Joann nor Esther were able to connect me with someone or have someone reach out to me via email.
Since I am now certain this was a fraudulent contact, I do not wish for them to call me, no way to verify that I am indeed speaking with an actual Nationstar representative. We have applied for 17 modifications between BOA and Nationstar only to have them "lose" paperwork. Need "new financials" etc. We were working with a corporation in Boston that buys your house on a short-sale then sells it back to you with understanding once you make your lower payments for a year start to look for a traditional mortgage. BOA worked well with this company and the process was rolling but Nationstar did not work with this company and wanted us to place our house on Auction.com before we could negotiate a short-sale. Things do not look very promising. Right now Nationstar wants $165,000 and our offer is at $150,000. Today I received a call from someone stating that they were with Nationstar - the first thing they ask me is to verify my account. When I asked why they were calling, I was told that they couldn't tell me until I verified my account - got their number and called them back.
When I called them back, I was told by the automated system that I was $4.83 past due. Payment is due on the 14th, I made the payment online on the 14th and today is the 17th - THREE DAYS and they don't have my payment posted to my account??? Then when I spoke with someone, that I could barely understand, they said my account was current and nothing was past due but there was some delay in the system when payments are made online. You would think that if they know that there is a delay with the online payments that they would check before they make a call to a customer to tell them that they are past due.

When presented with this proof of payment the Nationstar rep said she would have to check further, because there was no record of the $10,400 in their records. She heard about a loan modification and decided to look into this option but, because my father wasn't a good record keeper, had to contact Nationstar (who bought out her previous loan company and was foisted on her) for a copy of the loan paperwork. They refused, saying her name wasn't on the loan (but it is on the deed). She explained that my father had passed, so they told her to send a copy of the DC and estate info. She also explained that there was no estate - only debt - but sent the DC. Nothing. She called again and got the run around. This company does not comprehend that my father is gone; my mother is now paying the mortgage (on time), and there is no estate.
The other day she went to the county clerk who found that her name IS on the loan. Again, she called Nationstar and they fought with her that her name IS NOT on the loan. She told them what the clerk said, but they refuse to listen. NOW they tell her that they want her to sign over power of attorney to them. Power of Attorney!!! Are you kidding? What a scam. All she wants is a copy of the paperwork so she can look into a loan modification. Of course, it won't be with this rip-off company, so maybe that's why they are dragging their feet. Everything they have told her is nonsensical. I have no financial background and even I can figure out that a company that withholds information and wants power of attorney is a deadbeat company. Nationstar Mortgage bought my account from Bank of America. When I tried to call them, I was told that my phone number wasn't the number on the account and told to try again before their auto-teller hung up on me. Shocked, I tried again and the same thing occurred. I used Google to find their company online. I went to their page and used their "Contact Us" page. I gave them my current phone number, my email address, and instructions on how I wanted them to service my account. An account that had never had a late payment.
Two months later, I found out that they had been totally ignoring my instructions. I tried calling and was given the same message about an incorrect phone number. Again I tried using their "Contact Us" page and again I was ignored. I sent them a letter via the U.S.P.S. and gave them my phone number and email address. That, too, was ignored. It was over a month after the letter that I finally got in contact with them on the phone. They wanted me to know how sorry they were for all the difficulty I had and what I needed to do to become current in my account for them ignoring me. They did, in their defense, send me all the information I needed to become current after their nonfeasance. I was the one who ignored them then. I sent in what I wanted them to do. When I apologize, it is because I do something wrong. I expected the same from them. I sent in a "Written Request for Information," in accordance with their rules.
According to their response, none of the things I "claimed" to do was not valid because they were not part of their records. According to them, I never sent them a letter via the U.S.P.S. Fortunately, the Post Office keeps better records. I know the exact day and time the letter arrived there and who signed for in within the company. I told my lawyer to accept their lawyers assertion and the foreclosure that is sure to follow. I showed him my browser history for the number of times I used the Nationstar Mortgage "Contact Us" page. Fortunately, just going to the page shows one thing. Actually writing to them got an automatic "Thank You" response page which also shows up on my browser history. I'm waiting now for the "non-feasance" case to get my money back that I have paid and the money I used to upgrade my home.

My parents were UNFORTUNATE enough to have Nationstar purchase their existing mortgage (as always, totally out of the control of the loan holder, which is ridiculous but that is another conversation) from Wells Fargo. My Dad was diagnosed with cancer several years ago, and after a long battle, he passed away. During the illness, Nationstar purchased their mortgage, which was overshadowed by the obvious medical conditions, and more or less things continued on until my Dad passed 3 years ago.
After some time, my Mom wanted to explore some options, such as a refinance, reverse mortgage, selling the home outright, etc. No matter what she asked for, Nationstar treated her terribly. They refused to even acknowledge my Dads death, even after my mother sent them a certified copy of his death certificate. No matter what action my mom attempted to take, Nationstar refused to cooperate, and beyond that, they were JERKS on top of it, treating a woman who recently lost her husband and was facing the possibility of loosing her home of 45 years with borderline hostile behavior and mocking comments. Also keep in mind that every other legal entity (the County she lived in, Title Co. etc. ) legally removed my Dad from all paperwork, the only hold out was Nationstar, refusing to accept the fact that my Dad had passed. So mom accepted that for the time being, she was STUCK with them and their high interest rates (which I am sure they were enjoying collecting and played a part in not wanting Mom to refinance).
Fast forward to the last couple of months, Mom has her home/ranch up for sale, found a buyer, arranged everything, the day before escrow closes, the title Co.contacts Nationstar for a payoff, they refuse! The Title Co. attorney, who is a family friend spent no less than 2 1/2 hours on the phone fighting with these TOOLS and finally, came to some sort of arrangement where they finally admitted that my Dad had passed, and agreed to provide the payoff amount (around $165k)! Keep in mind, WE WERE ONLY TRYING TO PAY OFF A LOAN! Literally wanted to give them a check for over 150K and they are trying to prevent it.
After reading the many many terrible reviews for these 'people', I am not at all surprised, so many have been forced into business with these unscrupulous individuals simply by having their loans purchased without consent. Such action should be ILLEGAL! My parents did NOT choose this company, and we should all have control over who holds our debts, as long as accounts are kept current, which my Mom's always were. In closing, to any piece of human excrement that works at Nationstar and happens to read this, we won in the end, you lost, I am SO sorry for all of you still dealing with these HORRIBLE PEOPLE.

We went bankrupt in January 2012. Trustee sales cancelled twice. We have a house with three units and we lived in one. Due to health problems and being on disability, we moved to Arizona. One of the tenants cared for the house. Then he moved out last summer. We had squatters take over the house after we turned the utilities off. The power and water companies let them put the utilities in their name. Squatters have more rights than owners of property in Washington state!! We were told we could not turn off utilities, couldn't change locks etc. Police called us about a month ago after getting repeated calls to property regarding fights, drugs etc. They looked up who owned this property and got our phone number. Found out there were 8-10 people living in our house!!
During all this time we kept Nationstar informed as to what was going on. They told us they could not foreclose with people in there. Well, we told them they are not renters but squatters. Excuse after excuse as to why they couldn't foreclose - and offering us loan modification possibilities. Every time we called it was something different. They wanted to know if we would do deed in lieu--we agreed, then they write us a letter we are not eligible because we are not living there.
Today, we called to tell them we got all the squatters out and put no trespassing signs up. They offered deed in lieu again. Now they are saying they offer $13000 cash for keys when we were told before that they are not in that program. This last thing takes the cake - they asked us if the property was clean??? Told them it was trashed from the squatters and we don't live there, we are in Arizona. They said we could be charged cleaning fees. I have never heard of a mortgage company asking you to clean the property, asking you to evict squatters? We had another house go into foreclosure and they came and secured the property and cleaned it up. Sold it at auction almost two years ago. I don't think they really want these properties or they have so many. We just want our name off the deed.

Mortgage ended up with BOA during the time I was in bankruptcy. Then sold to Nationstar. Bankruptcy discharged in 11-2013. Contacted Nationstar in February the first time to see what was needed to do, so I went with loan modification. Spoke with 2 other representatives, and still had not received a modification packet. Finally spoke with a department manager who stated that my acct. had not been released from their dept., but knew that bankruptcy had been discharged in 11-2013 and she would change status and that I had to submit loan modification packet by the end of the week and that was done and have never heard back from her or anyone else. I sent her a email asking her to give me a status on my loan and still have not heard from anyone.

We filed for and completed our bankruptcy over 3 years ago. All home loans were discharged! We have been trying to get a deed in lieu for that long. Fought with B of A for a long time and then when the process was almost complete, they sold our loans to Nationstar in Dec. 2013. We called them right away and explained that we just wanted to get the deed in lieu completed and we didn't want to keep the house. They told us it would be done in less than 90 days. Okay, here we are almost in June 2014 and they keep "losing information", telling us they couldn't contact us so they closed the file or all the paperwork is done and going to attorney and we should get the paperwork to sign. Call back in 2 weeks. We do and the story keeps changing. I ask for a supervisor and am told that they don't have one but I want to start the process over again or not. I swear, they may be bigger liars than B of A and that's hard to do! Just want to know how to get them to get our name off the stinky loan that has been discharged so long ago.

Bank of America sold my mortgage to Nationstar. Every time I speak to someone, I get a different story. I got a modification w/ Bank of America and now my payments have gone up $100.00 more each month. I can see that my experience is shared by many. I cannot understand how a $300 difference in insurance can make a $100 a month raise in payment. Do they have the right to ask me to pay for 2 years of insurance in one year? I am VERY UNHAPPY, and would love to know how I can get my mortgage out of this company. I am on a disability retirement, and so I do not have good credit. I make my payments, but due to modification, my house had to go into foreclosure so I could get modification. How can I get another mortgage company to refinance with this history? I really do not want this mortgage company which I had no control over choosing. Please help. I cannot afford this raise in my mortgage.

No one can give me straight answer, always say we will get back to you, get letter says fixed, next month back to square one. Had to hire attorney. Beware, there are lot of good lenders. My mortgage was sold to Nationstar (NS) a few years ago. Everything was relatively OK until last summer, when I lost my job. I fell behind on my mortgage payments and in November 2013, contacted NS to make repayment arrangements. The new payment was $300 higher than my old payment, and I was told that 6 months at the increased payment amount would take care of the past due amount. Last week (May 2014), I received a letter that I was >$3,000 past due and NS would start foreclosure proceedings if the full amount was not paid by 6/24.
I contacted NS on 5/27. The first rep I spoke to told me that the person who set up the repayment plan did not take into account a $25 increase in escrow. I did the math for the rep and showed her that $25 x 6 = $150, not $3,000. She then said that my escrow had increased by about $200. I again explained the math - $200 x 6 = $1,200, not $3,000. She just said "oh well" and told me she could put me on another payment plan. THIS one would increase my payment from $1,400 to $1,700. I told her there was no way I could afford that, and I asked to be transferred to the escrow department. They informed me that NONE OF THE PAYMENTS I had made since December 2013 were applied to the account. There was a total of $6,900 in suspended funds, but my account was past due and getting ready to go into foreclosure.
The escrow rep acknowledged that I paid the correct amounts and could not explain why my payments were not applied. She asked if she could put me on hold while she got someone from Customer Service on the line. I was on hold for about 5 minutes. Then an automated voice came on the line telling me my request could not be filled at that time and to call back. Then the line went dead. I am in the process of filing for bankruptcy, but I am terrified that I am going to lose my home in the meantime because of this company. I spent almost an hour reading nothing but horrible reviews about NS on this site. While I am not happy that anyone is having these troubles, I am glad I am not alone. This company is dirty, and they need to be put out of business. I intend to file complaints with any organization that will take them and if necessary, take legal action.

On May 1st, 2014, I made my payment. On May 5th I got a call that my payment had increased by $51.24 and my account needed to be brought up to date. I will admit that it was an oversight on my end. The customer service rep said that $49.97 would bring my account up to date, even the math was $1.27 different. They said it was ok and I paid the amount. Yesterday, Memorial day, I got a call from Nationstar asking for a payment of $633. When I pointed out that I have made the payment, she hung up the phone.
After checking the website and seeing that my account still showed that it was behind. I tried to call and found that Nationstar was closed for the day. I called today and found out that the $49.97 was applied to my escrow because even that it was their bad math, it did not cover my account and I needed to pay an additional $51.24 to bring my account up to date. I have paid the amount, which in the beginning, I could not pay because it was not a large enough amount in their system. I have double checked their website and it shows my payment. I am not sure where it will go. This company sucks!! I loved Aurora Home Loans and they were great, but since Nationstar took over, I have had nothing but problems.

As we had our buyer for the home walk away from escrow all of the sudden (Nationstar should have records of a payoff request from Southwest Escrow about that time) I was caught off guard and had to make a mortgage payment towards the end of March. I was driving and received a call from Nationstar asking for the mortgage payment. I have paid several times like that before and they have my payment information (banking info). The reps usually ask, “Please give me your call back number in case we get disconnected so I can call you back.” This guy did not for whatever reason. He asked if I would pay the past due late fees, I said no. He asked if I would pay the $1506 I think using my Wells Fargo checking account that they have on file. I agreed. He asked if I am giving my authorization to process the payment. I said yes.
Then I am assuming he put me on hold so he could process the payment and give me the confirmation number. During that process he disconnected the line and I was under the impression that we were done since I DID CLEARLY AUTHORIZE PAYMENT ALREADY IN THE EXACT AMOUNT AND PAYMENT METHOD. I then received a call again from another Nationstar representative on April 1st. I was very shocked and upset that the payment on March 24th did not go through even though I clearly gave permission to process and confirmed the checking account to take the money out of. I explained the problem and also said that I was in the middle of two real estate transactions and cannot have a negative reporting to credit. I escalated this issue to a manager who listened to me at length and promised to listen to the tapes and make sure that nothing negative would be reported if in fact events transpired how I had stated. He promised to call me back later that day.
Then my mortgage broker called me on May 13th and told me that I could not qualify for a loan as my credit score has dropped over 60 points since 2 months ago solely due to that 30 day late that Nationstar fraudulently reported. The fact of the matter is that I did pay on time but they failed to take the money. At no fault of my own they reported me as 30 days late. This is now leaving me homeless and unable to buy another house. I just sold the home in question and was planning to buy again right away. I will now have to rent which I am considering taking legal actions to recoup as it is more expensive to find an apartment that will allow a pit bull last minute. That is clearly my damages due to Nationstars gross negligence. I called right away on May 13th and complained again (3rd time reliving this event). I escalated this to a manager again and he listened to the taped phone calls and read all the notes. Then he said that he would escalate this to the proper department and I would have an answer in 5-7 business days.
Today is the 22nd of May (7 business days after this phone call). I have not been contacted as he said by that department. I asked if there was any further escalation I could make use of and he said no. That was as high as I could go. I asked if I could speak to any other person higher up who could help me as I had no faith whatsoever that they would resolve my issue as they had failed 3 times prior to do so when they specifically stated that they would have an answer for me by a certain date and time and would call me and they never did. SO now I have exhausted every possible recourse I have with Nationstar Mortgage. I am now left with the only logical next step being to seek legal action to have the negative report removed as it is clearly fraudulent and to seek to recoup my damages.
So to summarize
- March 24th Nationstar called and took my payment (never processed but I authorized and they disconnected the line not my fault and transaction was complete)- April 1st Nationstar called me and I paid (again) and then complained and spoke to a manager who promised to resolve the issue and call me back, never did, 2nd time Nationstar lied blatantly)
- May 13th I called Nationstar and spent over 1 hour explaining to a rep and manager at length my experience on the prior two occasions Manager said he would file a report with another division of Nationstar who takes care of issues like this and promised I would receive a phone call and written correspondence with a result of their investigation into my complaints with a resolution within 5-7 business days. That never happened Nationstar lied to me yet again (3rd time).
The only thing that will be satisfactory at this point is written explanation on Nationstar official letterhead that they clearly made several mistakes resulting in a 30 day late report to credit bureaus. That letter MUST also contain a promise that they have already sent a letter to Equifax, Experian and Trans Union asking them to remove the fraudulent reporting from them on my profile. I MUST receive this letter before May 30th 2014. Any later is completely unsatisfactory and will not stop legal action.

Nationstar took over my mortgage from Bank of America (which took it over from Countrywide). This year, they have ramped up their low-balance Escrow requirement to the maximum allowed by law (1/6 of total payouts for the year). That means that I have to let them sit on an additional $2400 of my hard-earned cash until this note is paid off. This wasn't a pleasant surprise, and the agent who I spoke to had very little clue as to what was going on. Calling them is a waste of time.

We were very pleased with Countrywide holding our mortgage then it was sold to BofA whom I really didn't like but they did have solid customer service. After 8 years of on-time payments and excellent credit history our mortgage was sold to Nationstar. At first we were not even informed of how to make a payment or who it was to be sent to.
Since we had an ARM at 3% I was getting a little nervous about interest rates. We refinanced to a 5.3% fixed rate which bumped out payments $400 p/m then a couple of months into the new loan we've been informed that escrow needs to have a minimum balance of roughly $3200. So if they pay the home insurance and taxes at the same time they will not have $3200 in the account. To contend with this we needed to pay $400 more per month into escrow. We had around $2900 in escrow from the refinance and it's been plenty for the last 8 years. This company is terrible.

I made 2 online payments on May 15th, 2014 (one for May and one June), and requested the payments to be posted on my account on May 16th. Today, I noticed my online Transaction History showing they charged me $9.95 transaction fee for May and also another $9.95 for June payment. I called Nationstar and a customer representative told me Nationstar cannot refund or credit, or do anything to fix the $9.95. I was wrongly charged for the month of June because I made payment online and the "system" being set to charge $9.95 to any payment being made on the 16th, regardless of the month and Nationstar cannot do anything about it.
So I asked her then I just have been charged for making my mortgage payment 15 days prior to the due date? All she said is "I understand ma'am but we cannot do anything about it because the system has been setup like that!". I wonder how many victim out there have been trapped into this situation like this? How can a major mortgage firm like Nationstar cannot fix their "system" but point their fingers at the "system" that either being built or operated per their contract and agreements?

I am also a BofA mortgage holder that was sold to this company with no say. After paying "on-time" with Nationwide for over a year I requested they delete the PMI (mortgage insurance) since I was well past the standard 20% equity ownership. I spoke several times with a Nationstar Mortgage Insurance "specialists" to explain my case noting that I was well past the magical 20% equity level and the mortgage insurance payment should fall off automatically (my mortgage contract states that it does). I was adamant about no appraisal because I knew the housing market had tanked and it would not be favorable for deletion.
Their position was that an appraisal was still required even after I had them read my contract out loud that states automatic deletion requirements. I explicitly said during conversations that I DID NOT WANT TO PAY FOR AN APPRAISAL (knowing the market deficit I would be instantly declined) AND IF I WAS LIABLE FOR THE COST, TO NOT SUBMIT THE APPRAISAL REQUEST. Nationstar assured me verbally that I would not have to pay. Even the appraiser that came to my home assured me that I would not have to pay for the service. I made sure to stress that point before letting him into my home.
Of course the appraisal came in low, the mortgage insurance was not deleted and I decided to refinance with a different lender. After my refinance closing was completed I noticed there was a $500 charge for the appraisal. It buried in the payoff statement. I called Nationstar and demanded the charge be reversed, recited previous conversations to my best recollection but got nowhere. I even asked if they recorded and saved all phone conversations, which they did acknowledge was true, but told me it was my responsibility to prove it. I am still trying to find a way, but they hold all of the cards.
Do yourself a favor and stay away from this company at all costs. They lie, they steal, and then challenge you to prove they did not. I know it is only $500 but it is how they operate in general that is concerning. I have other minor complaints of constant harassing advertising phone calls, etc. but this was the last straw. Consider yourself warned.

The exact same thing as everyone else at this site is complaining about is happening to us. We have been excellent paying customers for years to NS but as of July of 2013, we have been going through a nightmare trying to get them to fix the negative credit reporting for July and August of 2013 due to what they call late payments.
We sent them copies of bank statements to prove the payments were not sent late and that they cashed them. They said the payments were late because extra money was due for escrow for future estimated taxes and insurance. Something we were not notified of or received a phone call over. So on August 10th 2013, we just sent $105.46 which was the amount they said was due extra to cover it. But we before we sent the amount, one of their reps assured us that no negative credit reporting would be made to any credit bureaus.
Lo and behold, we checked a month later and it shows 2 months behind. We have been trying ever since that time until now to get this resolved but to no avail. We received a letter from their resolution department stating there is nothing they can do even though we were promised this would not happen. To ruin someone's credit after years of building it and paying mortgage payments on time is unheard of and terrible business practices. When i call, all i get is a runaround. One rep promised to get one month's negative credit reporting reversed but still nothing is concrete. This cannot be verified nor can I get a copy of the letter.
I have left several messages for Jay Bray, present C.E.O. and Harold Lewis - President of Nationstar Mortgage. All to no avail. They will not even return my call. Something has to be done to stop them. We have to unite in some way, maybe a class action suit or something. Any suggestions?

BOA sold my loans to Nationstar in July 2013. I received a welcome letter stating that my mortgages were going to be service by them and that all would remain the same. What a joke! From the start they said I was behind, they also started charging processing fee of $9.99, tile fee of $49.00 to $172.00, inspection fees of $95.00. Every statement it's a different fee, and so on and so forth. I was able to get answers with one mortgage of one property once the attorney general from the state of FLORIDA got involved. I sent the payment agreed in February 2014, the last I saw on line. The payment was not applied and according to them the monies were in limbo, and now I can't access my account on line or get any answers, after sending close to $4000.00. Nationstar also miraculously found to misapplied payments. They take you money, apply the payment as they are suppose to, then in less than 24 hours the payment is reversed and applied however they feel . This is the horror of one account apart from them being so unprofessional, they treat you like you're stupid. I've been yelled at, phone hung up, threatened with foreclosure, told to refinance, or deed in lieu were my options. Then the nightmare continues.
When I started to work on the other from the other property that I only owe $12,500.00, according to them I am 5 months behind and they refuse to answer questions or allow me to make any type of payment, since Jan 2014. The last time I was able to make a payment on line was in Dec,2013. When I tried to make a payment over the phone, I was told it was in the hands of the attorney. When I asked for the attorney's name and number, I was told they weren't sure. From insisting with many phone calls, first I was giving the wrong number a number that was disconnected. Then an attorney that didn't know what I was talking about. Either Nationstar tells me they just sent papers to attorney or the attorney tells me they haven't been able to review file.
Long story short, no one knows what I owe and if I am behind, and what the fees are?? go figure. I need help, I have seen their reputation. I have family members and friends that are encountering the same problems and I can't for the life of me understand how they are getting away with this. This totally illegal. They are debt collector and bullies, I need to know how I can proceed because I refuse to lose my properties, that with my sweat I bought and paid for.
