The application process was fairly easy. I'm a professional so I'm used to stuff like that. So it wasn't daunting in that way. But if I wasn't familiar with it, it would have been a little overwhelming because I didn't receive a lot of direction on what to do and how to do it. I just pulled on my knowledge from last year. My loan officer was dealing with her son who had kidney failure. So I tried to give some grace on that. But unfortunately, there was not any time when she initiated a call to me and said she would send me documents to sign or schedule a time so we could go over them. So there was no contact like that. I happened to realize that I was calling her on her cellphone and not her office phone.

The application process with Fairway went by fairly quickly. There were some questions because I just moved in state and has a new job but other than that, it was easy. The deal was a lot higher than my previous mortgage but with the increase in rates, it was nationwide. It was understandable.

Fairway responded quickly. They were a good company to deal with.

The rep that I worked with at Fairway was awesome. Any question I had, she was right on it. Also, the application process was really simple. It took a while to get through all the approvals, but that’s just normal. I recommend Fairway to anyone.

Everything came in sections, which made it easiest. It was a step-by-step process instead of just a ton of paperwork and everything all at once until we did the final closing. The rate and terms I received are good. It's a little longer than I would like it to be but we'll work through that when the time comes.

I enjoyed when I work with my rep because all the time, she tries to help and finds the way to help me. Every time I need help, I call her. Everything worked easily and well. Fairway is a good company. I have a perfect staff.

While our broker was very nice, he got under our skin really quickly. We are in our forties, not first time home buyers, and he only referred to us as “kiddo,” except for when I was asking questions, then it was “sweetheart.” No. More importantly, the initial loan we were offered had a high APR. We were told it was because rates were going up. In 15 minutes we found better interest rates and lower origination fees on both Rocket Mortgage and Better.com. Fairway tried to match what we found but we knew our loan would be sold from random bank to random bank, especially in this unstable market. We found that Rocket offered the best rates and services the loan, so no bouncing around. So if you need more hand holding for going through the mortgage process, maybe an online company is not for you. But we wanted the best deal and we're fine doing some of the footwork to get it online.
