I have had my CitiCard for almost 15 years. During that time, I have never been late in paying, have always either paid the balance in full or more than the minimum due. Two weeks ago, they informed me that my limit had been raised from $20,000 to $25,000 because of my excellent credit history. I received my statement today, and found that I too have just received an interest hike from 5.47% to 14.99%. Unfortunately, I have a large balance on this card due to emergency medical services not covered by insurance, my minimum payment has now more than doubled, and I am unable to pay it. I called CitiCard, and was told the same story about accepting it or closing my account, after 15 years of perfect history. I am beyond furious, and agree that they are squeezing this hike in before it's deemed illegal. I had no choice but to opt out and feel almost like I have been blackmailed. Do they honestly believe it makes fiscal sense to put their customers in a position where the only choice is default? It's absolutely shameful for this company to both double their interest rates AND take our tax money to bail themselves out. I am contacting my state representative to both complain and to find out if there is any legal recourse. Argh. I am so mad.

I've had my Citi Platinum card for about a year and a half, and I've never once been late on a payment to them. On January 20th I made and on time online payment and checked my remaining balance. That same night I ordered two gifts online (one was $20 and the other was around $250) and used my Citi card for it, knowing that I can cover the cost. Anyways, a few days later one of the packages arrive (the cheaper one)and I then started wondering where the other package was. I called the place I ordered from and they said that my Citi card didn't go through for the more expensive item. I thought oh no, I need this gift for tomorrow, which I wont get until the following week now. Long story shorter, I went to my account balance online and noticed that my remaining balance was $60 and my total available ammount had dropped about $1000. I then called CitiCards and asked them why credit limit dropped. They said that they recently did a review of my credit score and decided to drop the limit. I told them that I never received any sort of notification of this, but they did not seem to care. I also told them that they held up a gift for someone that I ordered, but they still did not care one bit. I then told them to close my account, and they did on the spot without any care in the world. I've had many friends tell me not to deal with Citi before I got my card. I should have listened to them. I don't know why they wouldn't want my business, especially since I've never been late on a payment and always paid quite a bit more than the minimum. I hope they learn a valuable lesson in this tough economy. PLEASE DO NOT GET THIS CARD! YOU WILL END UP REGRETTING IT!

We have had this Citi Card for some time now. We sent our payment to them on time, but they did not recieve it. Once they contacted us we informed them that we would like to give it a bit more time because we knew as soon as we would make an extra payment via telephone, the original payment would most likely be received. They agreed to this. After a few weeks, they still had not recieved payment, so we made a payment over the phone, and the very next day the original payment was received. Now since our payment was late our interest rate was jacked up to 30%. What a ripoff. I feel as if they should not be allowed to increase the rate so high. after calling them about the increase, we were sent a letter stating that they would not lower the rate until we have made 12 consecutive payments. How unfair to charge 200 dollars of interest from now on

My citi card rate jumped from 5.99 % to 13.99 percent. when i found out about the change in the terms i called up customer service and told them that i did not agree to the terms. it was explained to me that if i do not agree to the terms the card would be closed on the expiration date of the card, which is in october 2010. so i was fine with that. then when i go online to check my account a few days later, they went ahead and just closed my card. when i called customer service again the rep was confused at why they closed my card and said that the mangers said that since october 2008 just passed they decided to just close the card.

My wife has had a CitiCard for several years and it has always been 14.99%. From December 2008 to January 2009 they bumped the rate from 14.99% to 24.99%, no notice, warning or anything (and the card did not renew then). I had thought this was an isolated case until I stumbled across the CitiCard thread on this site. Why are we being held hostage like this? There was mention (in the CitiCard thread) of a card-holder agreement that allowed rates to continue at the old rate when the card was cancelled, I don't recall anything like that here in Canada, and certainly given the choice (which we weren't) cancelling the card would have been the method of choice.

They more than doubled my interest rate on my MC on 1/16/2009. They had guaranteed me a fixed rate for 12 months in October of 2008. I called and spoke to 3 supervisors who said a mailing went out in November. I never got it. They agreed to reverse the rate and they will cancel the card when the card expires in 2010. This company needs to DIE. The taxpayers have given them 45 BILLION dollars and they can borrow at close to 0 in interest. How can this be happening?

In the meantime, they raised my rates due to the lateness, added late fees , etc. I explained I could not afford this. They immediately sold the accoung to a creditor GC Limited Partnership Collection Agency Division, 6330 Gulfton, Houston, Texas 77081. I called the number provided (866)749-7034. The account number is 4621200629045458. The balance was now $7,773.94. When I called, they told me it was now over $8,000.00. I just received the notice today, and it has gone up by $200.00 in days.
They also refused to work with me. I explained I had lost my job and could barely survive and if they could not work something out and kept increasing the charges that I would be forced into bakruptcy and they would get nothing, or they could work with me. The account rep. Mark told me he would get every panny and then some.

No wonder Cit Bank is going under, if this is the only way they know how to treat their customers they do not deserve to be in business. I want my old rate back, but not to worry, I get offers every week from other card companies to transfer my balance and now I will be more than happy to do so to get away from Citi Cards. In July of 2008, I did a balance transfer of my Citicards account to Bank of America. Apparently, there were finance charges afterwards, which I was not aware of. In December 2008, I did ran a credit check and discovered there was a past due amount reported in November 2008. After researching the item, I discovered that Citibank was kind enough to waive the amount due but did report the past due amount to the credit bureau. Per Citibank, they sent emails to me but I do not recall opening, receving or deleting any notifications from Citibank. Since there is no way to show that I received or ignored the notices which they said were emailed, there does not seem to be any remedy for my credit history. I'm sure this has happened to other people who do a balance transfer, fully intending to never hear from their credit cards after a balance transfer. Not paying the balance after being notified is one thing but if you don't receive the notices, that's another.

I rarely use my (1) Citicard credit card account of a $17,700 credit limit. I charged $102.11 the week that I got married and I didn't remember from all of the event planning. I did not think to go online ever to see if I owed anything.
I am disputing the late payments of 60 days and 90 days reported by Citicards for the account ending in XXXX. No statements, emails, or written notification were ever received from 8/08-12/08 for July 08 purchases. The 1st piece of mail was sent via USPS. It was a collection letter dated 12/5/08. Once I received this collection letter, I paid the bill. However, by this time, two negative remarks were reported. I verified my email address and it is correct. I also check my spam folder daily and no Citicard’s statement was ever received. According to Citicard’s records, the 11/4/08 emailed statement was never delivered and the email was returned back to Citicards on 11/6/08. Citicard’s claimed that an email is considered “mail even though their records showed there was at least (1) failed email. Under the Fair Credit Billing act, the businesses that offer “open end credit also must “provide a statement for each billing period in which you owe, or they owe you, more than one dollar as well as “send your bill at least 14 days before the payment is due - if you have a period within which to pay the bill without incurring additional charges;. Does email statements apply to this? I think that they do or should... Also since I've read other people did not receive their statements this past Fall/Winter, it seems that they may have purposely not notify me correctly. I did receive random automated messages from Citicards, but it was brief and garbled and the only info left was a phone #. I believed the weird voice mails to be a solicitation. The calls only started after my cell phone was stolen and was already 2+ months late. And since I never use the card, I did not think anything else of these unusual messages. Citicards also claimed to be unable to reverse their credit bureau reporting due to it not being a bank error. Citicards is running a racket by not sending out their bills. This is so that they can charge customers late fees and finance charges. My credit is ruined until 2015 due to Citicards sabotaging the billing system in order to collect on a measley $54 of 2 late fee payments plus minimal interest on $100.

Did not pay much attention to rate Citibank was charging, because I pay have the payment auto drafted. I know what my purchases are, so I have not routinely checked my finance rate. I checked the rate on the statement January 1, and realized the rate was 18.9%. When I spoke with a customer service rep. with Sears GoldCard (by phone), she said my rate until November 08 had been 19.9%. Requested to speak with a supervisor, Juan, employee ID# 725, who basically informed me: 1) Nothing could be done about the rate 2) I could NEVER have been offered a lower rate. I requested corporate contact information and our SearsGoldCard general counsel information from Juan, and he: 1) Informed me there was no such information available. 2) The only contact information he had was for Customer General Concerns. Juan was not helpful, very robotic in his conversation, and when I requested to speak with the next management level, he informed me there was no next management level to speak with it. I have had no late payments in the 4 years I have had this account, and we were not over limit. I called to find out what happened, and they said a notice was sent out in November (which my wife or I remember seeing) that said our new rate was prime plus 20-some percent. I told him we didn't receive the notice and would like to have our old rate back. He put me on hold for like 15 seconds and said that he could put it back to 7.99, but I would be rejecting the Terms of Service, and my account would be closed when the current card expired. So no I have to find a way to pay off the account in 9 months or pay 3 times as much in finance charges. Borrowers beware, do not do business with Citi Cards.

Since I pay my bill off in full every month and have never been late, I called and asked them to remove the late fee. The supervisor sent me a letter that said I didn't qualify! The whole thing would be laughable if CitiCard could explain 1) why they made the payment due date on 11/27 if they were not at work to process it, and 2) who does qualify to have a late fee removed if it isn't someone with a perfect payment record. A payment I simply cannot afford to make! I do have a high balance, but I also have an excellent payment history and good credit rating. I called right away and did speak to a supervisor who (after being a little bit short with me) did say he would opt out for me and the interest rate would go back down, but in DEC '09 my account would be closed. He said I should call back sometime over the summer to discuss some kind of interest rate change, and that would override the change he is making, which will prevent my account from being closed. I have to say, he was a little bit curt in the beginning, but ended up being very helpful and sympathetic. He even said that there was no rhyme or reason to what they were doing and that he couldn't believe my rate went up like that, especially with my good history. I am, however, still stuck with making the huge minimum payment this month before the interest rate goes back down for the next bill. Not sure how I'm going to swing it. Shame on CITI. This is thievery and they are preying on the people who can least afford to pay these outrageous bills. How many people will now be late or default? They don't care. This is nothing more than legalized loan-sharking. They can't come to your house and break your knee-caps, but they'll raise your interest rate to 24.99% and then watch you squirm.

I recently received a letter from CITIBANK. I have a credit card with CITIBANK. They said: We are increasing your variable interest rate APR for purchases. Your purchase APR will equal the U.S. Prime Rate plus 13.99%, with a minimum APR of 19.99%. As of October 1, 2008, this purchase APR is 19.99%.?
The default APR equals the greater of (1) the Prime Rate plus up to 23.99% or (2) up to 29.99%. I have perfect credit. This raise of interest rate is not going to impact me directly because Im not using the CITIBANK card for new purchases anyway; and, I have not had a default experience and, hopefully, wont. HOWEVER, at a time when Americans are trying to deal with an economic collapse of 1930s magnitude a good deal of which can be attributed to the greed and bad management of big business, especially in the financial sector, is this what Americans need to jumpstart the economy?? How do the financial institutions justify taking taxpayer money to be able to create credit for Main Street businesses and consumers/taxpayers, then charge the taxpayer, whose money they took, outrageous interest rates to use the credit created by the very taxpayer dollars they took in a bailout?? What is wrong with this picture? Can you do anything about this? Taxpayers need to stop buying everything but the essentials; spending/consuming does not necessarily create jobs except for the Chinese from whom we continue to import almost everything. America needs jobs: we need to stop creating jobs for everyone else with the outsourcing of our work and importing someone elses goods. AND, taxpayers need to demand the ouster of all incompetent politicians and business management who have done nothing but watch this economy worsen for the last twenty years or longer. Please be advised that this is just the beginning of my campaign against the credit card issuers. This message is being sent to every senator and representative as well as the President, everyone in the current administration, and everyone in the incoming administration. I will also communicate with every card issuer CEO and their boards and as many others as I can to bring these people to their senses; hopefully, the incompetent people in business and government will be replaced with a more intelligent management team. I was told I had never done so. I explained & offered to provide multiple online receipts (with confirmation numbers) showing I, in fact had made such payments TO the account in question. I was eventually (only because I asked) transferred to a supervisor by whom I was treated in a VERY rude, disrespectful and condensating manner. I was told [by this supervisor there was NO ONE ELSE I COULD SPEAK TO. I have been a member for over twenty (20) years and do not appreciate being treated this way. Please realize that in these economic times; customer service is paramount to continued business. I am extremely disappointed that this is obviously not a priority for the supervisory individual with who I spoke. Please understand that whether or not the available [to this supervisor] information differed from my (the customer) interpretation; it DOES NOT, under any circumstance warrant or justify the manner in which I was treated. Not being able to pay prior to the due date benefits no one expect the credit card company by increasing the odds of interest accumulation, period. I EXPECT a follow-up on this [my] particular situation as I will be mailing, faxing and electronically posting a complaint on all/to avenues available including but not limited to the better business bureau.

So one day past the due date they called me and said I was late paying - so I said, sure, here's my debit card mumber please pay the minimum for me. No problem. They then dinged me a $39 late fee (I expected this) and raised my interest to 16.99% going forward. Because of my first payment which was 1 day late I now had a crappy interest rate. In addition I had payed $150 to have the balance transfered over from my other card. I instantly closed the card and am going to tell everyone I know about Citi Card - don't ever use them --- bad news.

In December 2007, I made two purchases (on the same day) using my Sears card for the first time. The purchases were made Deferred Interest/No payments for 12 months. When I received my first statement, I realized that one of my purchases was setup as regular billing. I called Citicard (they handle Sears cards) and the person on the phone advised that she corrected the problem. I provided them with my updated address and phone number at that time as well.
Then in April 2008 I made my third purchase with the deferred billing/no payments for 12 months options. Three months later, out of the blue, I received a collection letter advising that my account was past due and they expected payment immediately. It turns out that they also screwed up my April payment and put it on as regular billing. I called immediately and the person on the phone went on and on about how sorry they are how much they pride themselves on good customer service. She said she did all the corrections and there was nothing else that I needed to do. She also said that she put in a report to have my credit report updated since they managed to ruin my perfect credit history because of this mess. I have never, ever made one late payment in all my life and Citicard managed to ruin my credit anyway. I gave her my phone number yet again, since I never received one phone call during the time my account was past due. Since they, all Citicard has used my phone number to do is harass me every few days for a payment. No payments are due on my card until this month and I have that payment set up already to be paid to them on time. Since September 2008, I have spoken to numerous people on the phone and besides being shocked at the situation, nobody has actually been able to solve the problem. Two months later and my credit file has not been updated and for some reason, the account is still reflecting as past due. I am in school and because of how they have ruined my credit, I no longer qualify for my student loan/disbursement for next semester. She said the original request to update my credit was not processed because the account was still reflecting as past due. Every person I have spoken to has told me that they have removed all outstanding payment charges and yet everytime I call, I have to start all over again. I called again today and besides telling me that there is nothing she can do, the supervisor was very curt and just kept repeating from her script. She said there is no way for her to confirm that any adjustments she made while I was on the phone will stick. In the mean time, I have to drop out of school, without knowing if they will ever manage to fix my credit.

I have been a loyal citicard holder for years and have loved my card and used it and paid faithfully. I always pay on time and pay more than the minimum balance required. I spoke to customer srvice and they said that there was nothing that they could do it was not based on card performance but because of there hard times and too many other people in default. unbeleivable so because other people can't pay and they made bad business decisions not only are my tax dollars going to bail them out but I am being screwed on my interest rate and if I opt out that will close my account and impact my credit score negatively but if I keep the card they are going to increase my rate by almost 3 times what is is now making it harder for me to pay at all not just trying to pay a little extra. How do they figure that this is going to help them. We have a fixed rate of 3.99% for the LIFE OF THE BALANCE at Citicard. We have been paying at this low rate for years and have been paying on time and sometimes more than the required minimum amount. Since we did this balance transfer we have not used the card to be able to maintain the 3.99% rate which we thought would be good for the life of the balance until we received a notice from Citi last week about the Changes in Terms and RIGHT TO OPT OUT. We called their customer service and the lady confirmed that we have the right to OPT OUT and if we do, we will loose the 3.99% rate, we will be required to pay off our balance and the account will be closed. Now I do not know if this will affect our credit. One of the comments posted here said it will affect a credit report if a long-term credit card account is closed. And besides, we do not want to loose the 3.99% rate Citi advertised as fixed for the LIFE OF THE BALANCE.
Our second option is if we accept the new terms, according to the customer service rep, we will still continue to pay our balance with 3.99% rate on the existing balance transfer but if we default on payments then our rate will increase to 24.99% variable! Okay, so then we thought because we know we will always pay on time it may not be a problem for now. But now I'm confused as I saw a posting here from another consumer who stated that their rate on existing balance will still increase to the higher rate if they accept the new terms. Or may be this applies only to existing variable rates. Our rate is supposedly FIXED for the LIFE OF THE BALANCE which makes me think that this is why the customer rep confirmed our rate is not changing (if we accept and we don't default) because of our fixed rate. I guess this is just one of the tricks credit card companies use to confuse consumers. This is a loose-loose situation, if we accept then it means we are accepting a higher interest rate which will then set a new rate record on our credit report which may become the basis for future loans. Even though we might be able to keep the 3.99% on the existing balance (if this really is the case), I think accepting the new terms will still hurt our credit report due to the higher interest which will reflect in our credit records. And if we opt out, we loose the 3.99 and our credit report may still be negatively impacted as one of the consumers pointed out (for closing long-term credit accounts). This is just beyond my comprehension! The government has been helping financial institutions and have been lowering the borrowing rates for the banks but the banks are doing the opposite to the consumers. Instead of passing on their savings to us, they are increasing their borrowing rates! Tuesday (11/25), I heard the government will also now use the bailout package to help consumers with their credit card debts. Does this mean Citi and other credit card companies now will be required to lower their rates rather than increase it and void the Change in Terms notices from Citi? I hope we will find out soon what the bailout can do for good consumers like us who are being rushed to a higher interest rate. The whole thing sounds illegal to me as they advertised a fixed rate for the life of the balance. We should be able to keep the same rate without having to accept or opt out of any change in terms. If someone can help us how to address this with Citi so that we can keep our 3.99% without having to accept or opt out, we will greatly appreciate it. Also, if somebody can answer my question about how the credit card bailout will affect credit card holders who received increase in rates notices, we would appreciate that too.

It was about $900 that I paid on it, and 9 months later the balance was almost right back where it was before I made that payment - and we had been making payments above minimum since then and not using the card. Right now we can barely afford the minimum payments, but I try and pay a little more than minimum every month anyway, because I'm scared to see what will happen if I don't. I have been a customer using a Citibank Mastercard with the Upromise benefits for quite some time now. I have a set limit like most cards but one feature designed for the card was having no preset spending limit each month providing I paid the minimum due each month. I use this card like cash for my family, education and business on a regular basis. I have never been late, missed a minimum due payment and most of the times pay my balance off in full. Just last month I paid a 10k balance off in full. This month I put education expenses, business expenses and family expenses on the card prior to taking a vacation with my family. While on vacation I hit my limit and found out my no preset spending limit was removed without prior warning. When I contacted CitiBank I was told by 2 different people its because of unfavorable economic problems. I understand we are in economic turmoil but I am not clear on how penalizing a good paying customer helps the economy. I have to assume the 700 billion bank bailout wasnt designed to help the good consumer and just designed to make the fat rich CEO's even fatter and more rich.

These are the cold hard facts.
You are to send your payments to a p.o.box to the Lakes in Nv. I think this is a box that they do not check very often. I have sent in my payment in with a lot of time for them to post it with one or two days to spare. I was told after they raised the rate that It did not make it in time to be posted before the due date. I always send in a money order to pay. I Tracked the payment of this money order and found out that it was cashed one or two days before the due date. I called them down on it and they had to change my rate back to what it was before they said it was late. At one point I would send in the payment with 2 day for a little more. This way I had a tracking # from usps and also the time the money order was cashed. If you will look at your contract on all of your credit cards. You will find it the fine print that if it is in the post office before 12 of the due date then it will be posted to you account and not be late. As I found citi cards-at&t cards and most payments that end up being prossesed by citi bank. Can be paid for at your local Citi Bank and it will be posted the same day if you make the payment before the same day.(Caution if you use an out of town check to pay it might take two to five days to clear but if you use cash or a local check it should post the same day. Ask the teller if a check will be posted the same day or not. It is one of there many tricks to raise your rates to the defalt

I received a call from CITI Credit Cards. The instructed me that I had 2 late fees applied to my account because of a past due balance. I found that odd because I have not used the card nor had any outstanding balance for well over 6 months. I did not receive any statements or emails pertaining to this charge. It was explained that I was late paying the yearly fee. When I opened the account there was no yearly fee. If they decided to incorporate a fee, they could have sent me a letter. The customer service rep. even indicated that he saw no history of them sending me an email or a statement. Of course I got an email that night. That is proof that the proper information is on file. I asked that the fees be removed. They indicated that a letter would come in the mail with that decision. Of course CITI regrets that they can not remove the fees. I canceled my card and will never get involved with them again in any capacity. I have not used the card in a long time because they originally told me (months ago) that I was late on a payment, I was not. The balance due was zero at the time. However, you must indicate to them that zero is your intended payment. They immediately canceled my rewards program and jacked my rate to 28%. I immediately paid the full balance on line and decided to leave the card open in case of an emergency. That was a big mistake. Because of my suspicions about their business practices, I checked my account a month later. No surprise to me, there was an interest charge applied of $9.00. I guess the pay in full button did not completely work. I paid that immediately. I know times are tough for financial companies, but this is absurd. Especially at a time when consumers are trying to keep good credit scores. I hope consumers remember which companies applied practices like this when times get better. I have very good credit. I get nervous because it could be ruined by these predatory practices. It seems like the consumer has no where to go for help. CITI has practiced a form of legal extortion. Any other industry practicing these types of strategies would be viewed as criminal. I am disputing this claim on my card as I write this. But I can't get through to customer service, what a surprise. It seems that all of there reps. are harrassing people instead. p.s. I was told that if I did not pay by November 17th, I will get charged another late fee. I can't imagine what they do to someone who has fallen behind in payments. God help them.

I'm in real estate and last March we began to fall behind as we were no longer making ends meet. We did default, on all the cards at the exact same time. This is not their fault, we know this. But what has been so infuriating is their lack of being willing to work with us. Since then, we have done everying in our power to avoid filing bankruptcy, even to the point of signing up with a debt reduction company. Since August,we have paid all of these acounts, on time. Citibank has since decided to sue us for one of these accounts and send us to collections for another, yet the other two are perfectly fine and they are happy to recieve our regular monthly payments. Why would they treat some of the accounts differently than the others! It is completely assinign to me that they do business this way. We could have very easily filed Bankruptcy but are trying to repay all of our debts and do the responsible thing.
It is so infuriating to me that you can have perfect credit for 14 years and in a matter of 4 months they start treating you like you are the lowlife scum of the earth and can legally ruin your credit for. 4 months should not outweigh 14 years! Everyone falls on hard times at times. It's no wonder why everyone is choosing to just file bankruptcy- it sure would have been easier than dealing with this crap every day!

Both months I sent payments in on the 20th to avoid late charges - without the benefit of my statement. This month (October) I sent in my check on the 20th and today is October 29th and the check is still not received. Citibank is intentionally stalling sending out statements and holding off the posting of payments to accrue late charges and interest. All consumers affected by this should contact the Consumer Protection Agency in New York State where Citibank is a registered corporation. This is overtly intentional on their part and if enough consumers complain they will be investigated and their unethical tactics corrected.

After only two months with Citi I have experienced the most trouble that I have ever had with a credit card company. I transfered a small amount from another company to get releaf from high interest rates. The deal was my transfer would not have a interest until Oct 2009. So I set up a direct draw from my business bank, so I thought. my payement returned unpaid for no apparent reason, this was before I made any charges to the card. Then on my statement I was charged for returned check, service charge plus interest. I called and they said I didn't use the right coding for my bank and account number I had doubts, but reintered my info. I look closer this time and the numbers to submitt were not in the right positions for business banks, So I called them to see how to enter codes in the right order. I was told I would have to use my personal bank account to pay my business expenses. I went off on them, for not having a correct order of code numbers for business as my credit card was set up for our business. This was only the start of the problems. So the next month I sent more than my current monthly charges thinking that the extra would go toward my transfer balance. To my suprise my next statement again had service charge plus interest. So I called them again. This time they told me since I made a phone application someone should have explained where the apr was to be applied, This was to my orginal transfer of funds only.Any new charges would incure the interest/service charge. All the time I was thinking as long as my curent charges were paid and the extra would go to the 0 interst account. Boy was I fooled. I was told that I should't use their card until the orginal 0 interst was paid off. That was ok,and I went to another Cr.Card company and transferred my balance from Citi that offered the same 0 balance on transfers plus no interst on current charges and long as they were paid on time. I think Citi had better get their heads out of you know what and take care of their customers or soon they won't have any.

I have resorted to estimating my CC bill and sending in a payment mid month knowing that I will not get my actual CC bill for another week or so. I now understand their motive... it is to get finance charges because IF you pay your bill in full, they do not get a finance charge, BUT IF you partial pay your bill ( which I did last time) not only do you incur a finance change on your balance but they now have a RUNNING finance charge on all charges you make for the current month EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE NOT BEEN BILLED YET OR RECIEVED A BILL.

After the denial of the standard one month repayment grace period for the $2140 purchase, Citibank raised my interest rate. They should only have assessed the late fee for my previous $25 balance not the recent $2140. I guess the company is in need of money so they pretend my grace period was up. I am going to stop using the Citi Card but this seems like major fraud at work. First, the outgoing statement has been delayed for quite a while in the hopes that a late payment will result.

To further help cause a late payment, payments seem to be held in Citibank for many days before posting to the account. An electronic payment should be immediate. There is no reason for it not to be posted in the same day it was sent by my bank. This seems to be an attempt to run up the interest on my outstanding balance.

I have this credit card called citi premier pass card from citi cards. I was making my payments online and those payments were scheduled by me (date and amount). The last payment I made was on July 31st and I was just planning to make the next payment at the end of August but Oh surprise I received an email on August 20th informing me that my last payment have been posted which made me start investigating and I found out that this company made an electronic debit in the amount of $4000.00 from my checking account that I have in another institution.

This transaction was made without my authorization so my problems started. I had less that $4000.00 in my checking account which fo course caused the first overdraft. I contacted the citi cards company and they stated textually ""You made the payment"" which is ridiculuos. They said I had online activity on August 19th at 11 am. I told them I was not even online when the transaction was performed ( I remember clearly what i was doing at that time on that date which had nothing to do with computers) I asked them to start and investigation and they were to send me documents to sign. It's been almost a week and i haven't received any documents yet.

contacted y bank to have them open a claim and they were so efficient that we did some paperwork by fax. I asked the citi cards company to stop or cancel that transaction and they said it is not possible. I asked them for the IP address of the computer the transaction was generetaed from and they said that is not possible (assuming the transaction was originated from some computer). I was keeping track of the activity in my checking account and my bank covered me with overdrawn and the day after the money returned to my bank but another surprise was to come, on august the 22nd another citicards made another debit for $4000.00 which created again the same situation.

I called citicards and they said that the system tries to complete a transaction if the first tim it did not get through. I asked for the status of the investigation and they did not have idea what my question was about so I assume they were doing nothing. meanwhile i was being charged penalties at my bank because of lack of funds and at the same time since the second attempt to debit 4000.00 did not get through there was a bouncing and as a consequence some charges are applied at citicards.

I called again and they said it is not their responsibility. besides, since they can't prove it was their error (of course they don't want to prove if they made errors) then the responsibility is mine. I am still waiting for some outcomes but because of this i have not been able to use my money that I have in my checking account.

Charges/penalties on both companies Future Damage to my credit record Stress Spending my time and energy on an inconvenience caused by citicards Unable to use my own money because of the overdraft which in turns creates more trouble like not being able to buy basic stuff like food, school supply list for my son, unable to move because of no gas money, being late at work, possible bounced transactions when companies will try to get their bills paid lectroniclly from my checking account (Gas, electricity, mortgage, phone services and so on), and being treated as if i were dump.

Now I am afraid citicards can try to make debits and that implies I have to cancel my checking account to avoid this but then It will take me a while to update information with the companies I do business through my checcking account. The most important damage is this wasting of my time. who is going to give me that back? My time, as anybody's time is worthy and a waste of time implies a loss of money.

After conversation to establish that I WAS THE OWNER of the account, was informed "somebody called on 06-27-08 and name was changed after all the security questions were answered and I was possibly a victim of identity theft". Kathie said there would be a 7 year Fraud alert for me with the three credit bureaus; TransUnion will monitor for 90 days.

08-01-08 Received phone call from Sara in CitiCards Security, who indicated since there were no fraudulent charges on my account, there is no fraud involved. Probably the only reason there were no charges at that point, the credit card came to my address instead of the address they were tried to change it to. (But who knows what the future holds for me as far as my personal information being compromised by CitiCard person(s)). Sara told me to contact the President of CitiCards/

08-07-08 Received correspondence from Melissa P., Presidential Communications, only acknowledging what I have stated above. 08-09-08 I mailed reply to Melissa P. expressing my concern again regarding the name change. Even though no fraud discovered at that time, there has been an illegal ac committed against me by CitiBank and it's employee(s) who committed the act. Someone has information about me that is related to the name change.

08-20-08 Received correspondence from Melissa P., stating "the name changed occurred on June 27, 2008, as a result of an email request from another cardmember requesting an update on their CitiCard and NOT A PHONE CALL. This request was received on same day our Customer Service area received the payment coupon YOU RETURNED requesting the address on your account be updated." I DID NOT REQUEST THE ADDRESS ON MY ACCOUNT BE UPDATED. THIS IS NOT MY REQUEST.

08-25-08 I replied to Melissa P., stating I did not request an address change on my payment coupon, and asked them to provide me with a copy of the payment coupon and a copy of the email request referred to. AS YOU CAN SEE, THERE ARE SEVERAL DISCREPANCIES IN THAT I MADE NO REQUESTS TO CITIBANK REGARDING MY ACCOUNT PRIOR TO JULY 7, 2008. I feel my personal identity and information has compromised by Citi employee(s). Who knows what the future holds for me! I feel someone within CitiBank may be involved with messing with my identity. If not, they should be providing me with the information I have requested.

At this point, I don't know what happened, a phone call and somebody providing answers to my security questions; or an email received, as stated on their latest correspondence. Either way, they should provide me with that information. I am a 75 year old lady, who is still gainfully employed, and very well, but the stress and worry has certainly taken a toll, and that will not end! There has been gross negligence an illegal act committed against me by CitiBank and it's employee(s). I will appreciate any help.

I set up my payments to go out every other week so that I am sure to have the minimum paid on time. They began applying my payments to reduce principal and not to roll over to the next cylce to pay on time. I thought I was paying more than enough and now My finance charge has now been increased to 28% percent because all my increased payment were paid to reduce principal instead of applying them how I wanted. I was 39 dollars past due because of how my additional payments were posted and now they are charging me over 300 dollars a month in interest.

I will never be able to pay this down now. all my additional payments will now be going to pay off interest that I should never have been charged. This is a deceptive practice. If a person is paying extra every month it is obvious that they are trying to pay down the card.By putting me in the interest penalty box they have made it so I can never pay this debt. My finance payment tripled.

I had an account with Citi Card. I contracted with a debt management company to help lower my payments and interest rate. All of my other accounts readily agreed and payments were made timely, However, Citi Card would not even respond to the requests for a payment plan. The Debt management Co. continued to send monthly payments anyway and Citi Card accepted those payments. However they would not even respond to all requests made. I called Citi Card myself and they insisted they had not received letters from my DMC. They eventually stopped sending me invoices, so I have no idea what was actually credited to my account. I could not get anyone to respond to my requests for acknowledgement of receipt of payments.

I termninated my association with the DMC since I was able to handle my accounts on my own. I sent money to Citi Card even though I was not receiving statements. I happened to run my free annual credit report and discovered that they charged off the balance of $2786 in July, 2008 without any notification to me that they were doing it. Makes no sense to me since I was making payments.

Some agency or government entity needs to move on behalf of debtors and change the credit card company laws so they cannot continue to do what they always do--raise interest rates and charge late and over limit fees. Please stop Citi Card!

Obviously, since they would not work with me and charged off the balance, it seriously hurt my credit score.

When I called customer service they seemed to only be concerned about blaming the time for mail delivery. Otherwise I have been a regular and promptly paying customer.

CitiCards was unresponsive to my complaint, so I canceled my account. I would highly dissuade anybody from retaining CitiBank or their affiliates as a vendor of any credit services.

I got pounced A while back I took advantage of a 0% balance transfer offer from Citi. I made payments well above the minimum for several months. In July I mistakenly underpaid the minimum by $2 (two dollars) and as a result: - I was charged $39 late fee - My interest rate went from 0% to 28.99% - I was retroactively charged a $49.18 finance charge. - My minimum monthly payment went from $27 to $103 - a 281% increase ... seems a little harsh I called, explained the situation, and spoke to a sympathetic woman. She said shed submit my request for forgiveness of my $2 transgressions, and I'd receive their decision by mail. Of course that decision came and it was not in any way forgiving.

I'll live through this, and I'll have the balance paid down in a few months, but my once positive feelings toward Citi are forever tainted. Their actions were so incredibly disproportionate to the harm of a $2 underpayment that they can't possibly be considered anything other than abusive. I was once sympathetic to the free-market argument, and the need for deregulation. Citi's abuse has made it clear to me that this industry is not capable of self-regulation.

WE did not have another business credit card so we used our personal card to balance transfer the down payment for our new business. We charged 20,000. WE were late a week after our bill was late getting to use. We call immediately and told the representative the situation and we always paid a least double or triple the payment.

Since we were late a week one time, our interest went from 3.9 to 29.8 and they also made back months retro and added on over an extra thousand dollars in interest. Also they added an unwanted protection that cost 200 every month and we have been calling them monthly for four months to remove this charge and todate we are still charged the protection fee.

Two months agowhen the rate increased we called them again and also wrote a letter to explain what had happen but no one responed. We owe 3,000 more than we took thebalance transfer and I pay 1000 per month. It doesn't seem fair to retro interest rates or to charge a large protection fee.

Few days back, I picked up an application from a Petro Canada Gas station for a Citi Mastercard with Petro Points benefits. Now, I've received a letter from Citi Mastercard to provide them a letter from Commissioner of Oath as a proof of my residence address. I called them up and explained that I'm not a new customer and they already have my residence address on file and they've been sending me bills every month at the same address. so why do i need to go to commissioner of oath to verify address? Like, what am I doing here? They said oh yes, ok, send us a copy of a phone bill or bank statement that shows your address. I said are not you sending me statements at the same address? can you print out a copy of a statement from your records to see my address? The girl said, yes... but still you have to send us something that shows your address.

To me it seemed a stupid request which doesn't make any sense at all. After going through 5 persons and explaining my story none of them seem to understand or have any concern whatsoever and they were talking in machine like voice, We userstand sir, but you've to send us the letter. Its not that sending a letter is hard for me, but to me it seems so stupid and non-sense thing to do, so I asked them to close my existing account and they did it without hesitation. Perhaps loosing one customer is not a big deal for Citibank?

Just frustration. Welcome to the new stupid and non-sense world of senseless rules and regulations. Whatever happened to reason?

We wanted to cancel our card. Called for payoff balance and was told they could not tell us because by the time the check arrived there would be more interest charges. Got as close as we could to what we estimated was the payoff and sent a check. After a few days we called again and they had received our check and we did this again - sending in what they estimated would be the ending balance. We also cancelled the card. This was May 14, 2008. We did not hear from them until July 12, 2008. We got a statement with a charge of $149.95. Something called SimpleEscapes said we purchased something from them. SimpleEscapes was closed when I called.

I called Citi Bank and asked how something could be charged to a closed account? They said we did not close the account, only stopped the credit protection on the account. Now I can't cancel the card again after cancelling it in May because I have to get SimpleEscapes to credit an account I really don't have. I will call SimpleEscapes again but my main complaint now is with Citi Bank. I believe that Citi Bank and SimpleEscapes are somehow working together to dupe their customers.

We are now faced with asking SimpleEscapes to credit the Citi Bank card. If they don't we will be responsible for paying it or ruining our credit. IF I get a credit from SimpleEscapes I will cut up the old Citi Bank card and send a registered letter to Citi Bank cancelling the account AGAIN!!! I am going into the hospital Monday for surgery and I have to deal with this during my recovery.

Unfortunately since about 2 years ago I lost my source of income and have being on a financial hardship situation and was not able to pay may Citibank card as I did for many years. After some time the credit card account went to a debt collector in Cleveland by the name National Enterprise Systems (NES). In June 11th,2008 I contacted the debt collector and explained my situation and negotiated a lump sum payment to close the account. They accepted in June 12th, 2008 and that same day I sent them a payment for USD 3,058.00.

Before I sent them the money a educated myself about the tricks and dishonest practices that are commom and associated with the debt collection companies. As you know there are many true stories and you are never 100% safe with these people. For this reason before I sent my payment in full I asked them to fax me a note they call a settlement letter which states that they had been autorized by Citibank to accept the amount above for a settelemnt in full to colse the referred account. Acting honestly and as I offered I went to the bank and make a wire transfer ( I live abroad). Of course I have all my transfer records and faxes and phone conversations registers.

Upon payment, I call these people in NES Cleveland and they informed me that they already had received the payment and that they were going to sent me a note in the fax stating that the account was closed as paid in full for the settlement agreed. THEY NEVER DID! I waited a few days and sent them a fax and email asking for the cancelation note and they never replied. First I was giving them the benefit of the doubt but hey! what can you expect from these bad reputation people. I was curious enough to read about this company and found bad comment from people having bad experiences with them.

I now want to elevate this case and at the same time I am getting al docs ready including this record here to accumulate my data. Mid-June I received my statement from Citicards and noted I had gone over the credit limit. As soon as I realized this I called their customer service number, explained I had just gotten the bill and could I speak to someone to about setting up a payment plan for this bill. The amount they requested was to bring the bill down to my minimum credit level, and at this point I am unable to pay it.

After answering a number of questions as to why and how did this happen, I was told to make payments and to call back on June 27th to set up a payment plan. I was also told that I would be receiving calls from Citi telling me to pay. And I received an automated message every day, at all times of the day reminding me. Here I have tried in good faith to make payments.

When I complained to the representative that I thought the calls were intrusive and that I had explained my situation, I was ignored. Citicard called me on my cell phone, my home phone and then at my place of work. All of this after I had explained my situation. Prior to June 27th I also made a phone payment of 200 dollars. On the 27th I called Citicard as requested to set up a payment.

I spent about 10 minutes on the phone once again, going over my financial situation, why I had gone over the limit, etc. At the end of the conversation the customer service representative told me they were unable to set up a payment plan with me and concluded our conversation. I was floored. I didn't say I was blowing off my debt or that I was declaring bankruptcy, I said I wanted to pay down this debt and would they work with me to do so. Also, why would they allow me to go over my limit?

Charges seem to appear late on my bill so prior to the June bill I thought I was within my credit limit. While this is going on of course they are accruing late fees and finance charges making it even harded for me to pay down this amount. I've sold some jewelry, books and my husband is working overtime so that we can deal with our personal finances. I feel as though a game is being played with us in our attempts to be good consumers.

The damage is the increases to our charges with this creditor, eventually our credit rating. I just want someone to work with me on this issue. I am not asking for debt forgiveness, only for someone to address my issue with serious intent.

She had 3 cards with small balances, of which we paid of when we closed out the account. She then had two remaining accounts with balances one with Bank of America totaling 2,100.00 and one with Citi totaling 9,200.00. I followed the same process as with the other cards, however we made the monthly payment on these and asked that the accounts be closed.

On Saturday, June 14th I made a payment to Citi in the amount of 236.00 and on Monday, June 16th they then turned the account over to Phillips & Cohen. Keep in mind the account having a 1.9% interest rate had never been late. On Wednesday, June 18th (less that 30 day after we lost my mother) we received our 1st of several harassing called to collect the debt. This continued until we made a settlement of payment of 6,000.00 on Wednesday, June 25th.

When I called Citi they said that this is standard procedure for accounts where the card holder is deceased. I must tell you that I (we) were not only victims in the accident that took my mother, we were then victimized by Citi and is associate Philips & Cohen.

I spoke with Doug ID#86274 who put me on hold for several minutes before transferring me to Bhupesh ID#AIC316 (who's accent made him very difficult to understand). I again related my complaint to Bhupesh who transferred me to his manager named Mike ID#KCL5656.

It was this Mike who I spoke with at length concerning my accounts and complaint. I explained to him that for Citi Upromise, payment was made electronically on 05-19-08 on the payment due date of 05-19-08 for billing period Mar 26 - Apr 24, 2008. For AT&T Universal, payment was made electronically on 05-19-08 for the payment due date of 05-12-08 (one week late) for billing period Mar 19 - Apr 17, 2008. I explained to Mike that the phone calls were in excess of six per day and were extremely upsetting, distressing, ridiculous, and unneccesary since payment had been made in good faith on both accounts. Mike told me that the phone calls would continue, even though I had explained to him that payments had already been scheduled to be posted on time for both accounts for next month's statements.

Not only did he have absolutely no interest in taking down the information I had for the future payments (confirmation #'s, ect.), he further insulted me with his unsolicited personal opinions on my spending habits. I have since filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

Citi Cards charged my Upromise account a late fee of $39.00 for a payment that was made on time electronically! In addition to this Citi Cards charged my Upromise account a past due fee of $6.30 for the same payment that was made on time electronically. Outrageous!

First, my Internet provider automatic credit card payment was rejected per the ISP. This was due to the credit card company saying they did not receive my payment, which was due to the fact that they said the USPS must have lost the check. I had mailed my payment well in advance of the due date. The Customer Service rep at Citi said they would look into reversing the late fee charged to my account, at my request. I told them I had NEVER been late on my payments, and if the Post Office had lost the payment, it's out of my control. The further insult was receiving a post card later in the week from CITI saying they would not reverse any late fee, and gave tips on how to avoid such late fees in the future.

Citi's handling of the matter, especially for a longtime customer who has always paid on time, was very badly handled. Their website does not list any email addresses to write to, for complaints, and calling their 800 number will just result in a runaround. The economic damage: I had to pay a Stop Payment fee on my check that was supposedly lost, and most likely Citi is not going to reverse the late fee. In times of excessive gas prices, food prices, etc., it shows how big business could care less about the average American consumer, and doesn't appreciate the loyalty of that consumer.

My wife had set up electronic payment for our last payment. She had tried to pay the week before the actual due date and unfortunately we didn't have sufficient funds and it failed. Supposedly, the payments had bounced and we didn't get an email till the payment was due. So we tried to make the payment online the day off and the online sytem wouldnt allow us to do it.

We called the customer servie. The first time someone hangup on my wife when she was explaining the situation. She called a second time and this time the rep (some guy named Kim) said the payments had been made already. My wife asked him 3 times and each time he said yes they had been paid. He then transferred her to GIA(Id: GM85680) because he couldn't help her with adding the account. All we were trying to do was pay the bill on time using their electronic system. GIA said we could not do it online or over the phone and that we would have to go to an citicards office(which we have none close by) or by normal mail. She also wouldn't be able to waive the finance charges or late fees!

We talked to the supervisor (Shawn SR14354), instead of calming things, he seemed to have a chip on his shoulder. I mentioned to him the problem and he said something was wrong with the bank number, he wouldn't listen and he had to say something. I explained to him that we had been using the account for a while, he then verified and confirmed it. I explained that we had got an email stating the insufficient funds. He said the bank had send a wrong code and so they weren't responsible and we couldn't use that one or any other account to make payments online. He could have easily made a note and said this would be taken care of and the fees refunded. But no! he started to explain that the electronic billing was a service and that making payments was our responsibility even though we wanted make payment the same day and because of their lacking system which they provide, we couldn't do it. Finally, he was argumentative and I tried several scenrios to reason with him. It seemed like it was me who was trying to find a solution rather than him!

I filed a complaint and stated the things that were lacking, at first he kept saying the first person was a girl not a guy and then he was wording the complaint as he liked. I tried to explain the different scenarios but everytime, he seemed to imply that it was not their fault and everything was everyone elses problem. We have been excellent customers, me and my wife...with 2 different accounts. She has never had a late payment. I explained to him that the customer service was really bad and that I had been on the phone with them for an hour for no reason and I wanted to pay my bill!! To which he stated, we had been talking to him most of this time. Wow! what this guy was trying to do is beyond me apart from maybe being annoying! I mentioned to him that I couldn't imagine how they treated bad customers since we were good customers and paid on time to which he had the audacitiy to say that we didn't pay this current bill due to insufficient funds implying we were bad customers, which is what we were trying to pay in the first place! That was the last straw! My wife immediately decided to cancel the card. What a bad customer service in US and this was a supervisor at Citicards.

I have 2 Citi Cards for my business, I carried on and my wife the other. After getting a bill with late fees on it I contacted Citi Cards because I alway pay my balance when I get the statement. The told me they didnt have my change of address and I was told that the change of address on the billing statement means nothing all change of address's have to be sent in by FAX. Citi Cards dropped the late fees and interest and I faxed in the change of address.

Two months later I get another bill with late fees and interest. I call Citi cards and asked why? I was told I had the wrong address. We went over the address change again and I told them that I lived in a small town and I had not gotten an bill from Citi Cards and even if they had sent it to my old address it would have been forwarded. Citi Cards admitted they had not gotten any of my statements back. I was advised that I would still have to pay the late fees and interest because they could only waive those fees every 6 months. I asked to talk to a supervisor and the late fee and interest was waived. Because I was sick of dealing with incompetent people I cut up our Citi cards and stopped using them all together.

Low and behold I get a bill from Citi Cards, for $250 plus or minus. In March of 08 on my wife's card. I checked with Citi Cards and they couldnt give my any information on past months charges so I requested the past years statements on this card. Any activity on this account prior to September had some how managed to get to me and get paid, again with the change of address going on the return statement with the check. Some home the September bill for $88 didnt find its way to me until March or 08. Again I contacted Citi Cards and they were very kind. I told them I didnt believe I owed any late fees or interest because it was their mistake. They all agreed. Three times I payed on line and they assured me that it was all taken care of and they would get back to me with confirmation. No one ever did.

As I was cleaning this mess up I got a call from a collection company who was rude. I told them this had been taken care of and they needed to confirm this with Citi Cards. They would not. On 4-14-08 I was assured by Citi Cards this account was paid in full. I was told they would confirm this on or before 4-16-08. They did not. I called Citi cards on 4-21-08 and was told they payment had not gone through and that they would re-do it and it would be done that day. On 4-28-08 I got a letter from Academy Collections that I owed $302 on this account. I called Citi Cards and no one knew anything about my account. Richard, a manager told me that even though I had made my payment as agreed they had turned the account over to collections on 4-17-08 and there was nothing they could do about it. I would have to deal with collections.

I asked for a statement from Citi Cards stating my account was paid in full. He said he couldnt do that even though his people had assured me it was finished and paid in full. Citi Cards is one of the worst managed ill trained companies I have ever dealt with. This cost me $167.80 to clear my account. I was assured by the collection co that Citi Cards would remove this from my credit history. I am not holding my breath on that ever happening. I am going to attempt to put this letter in the order of events as they occurred: 1. I called to set up payments online thinking it was the day that my bill was due. The woman on the phone had the wrong date as did I. I made out a check to send and expected to get a late fee. When I got to work and looked at the calendar I realized that I still had a day left. I called and spoke to a gentleman to assist me in setting up an online account. He could not understand me and I could not understand him. He WAS putting in the numbers as I read them to him from the bottom of my check. By the time I got someone who could understand me it was 5:02PM and it was too late and the man that I talked to agreed to take the payment by check - no charge.

    2. I was told that I could not pay online for 30 days. I then again attempted to pay online and the lady I talked to said that the routing numbers had nothing to do with my numbers. I know that everyone that I talk to says that I had to have put the numbers in myself. Contrary to that, the numbers were entered the first time by the gentleman that I was speaking to in India. I had documented what went on during our conversation. OK, one more time I have to send a check.

    3. Again, I attempted to get assistance to set up an online account. Once again, I could not understand the person that I was talking to and he put me through to someone who spoke English. She stated that she would mark my account that 'I didn't like foreigners. I was highly offended by her remark. She actually said it twice. Then I was abruptly disconnected.

    4. I called back and spoke to a very nice lady who offered to try and get the correct numbers in. I have been paying my bill out of the same account for years. I read the routing number and check numbers to her. For some reason, the system was not taking the first four numbers of my checking account. She told me she would attempt to have the late fee removed from my bill due to the fact that I had gone in on the 19th or 20th to have my payment done online on the 26th. I received my bill and had a $39 fee for a returned check. Needless to say, I am disgusted. As much by the fee as when I told the support people that I have paid my bill off every month for years and was thinking about canceling my account. The response is basically - go ahead.

I don't know what has happened to customer service or people listening to your problem. I know that it states that your call may be recorded - I wish they were and you could listen to what I have experienced and the amount of time I have spent on the phone attempting to rectify the situation. All I was trying to accomplish was to pay my bill.

Last May 29, I had paid off my Citibank Credit Card 10 days in advance. Yet today, April 9, Citibank electronically debited my credit union account for $345.00!

I called to inquire as to why even though I owed Citibank no money why Citibank was still taking money from me (and no small change either). I was told by three different CITIBANK reps that because my bill LAST MONTH had showed a minimum amount due of $345, that regardless of whether I paid off my balances in full or not, that it would still be electronically debited from my credit union account.

If I wished, I was told, I could request a refund. I did. That's when I found out that it would take one to two weeks for me to receive a check in the mail! I argued that since the mistake was THEIRS, that they should electronically re-credit the $345 from my Citi Credit Card account back into my credit union account as easily as they had taken it out. They all told me it was not possible and that I would just have to be content with getting a refund check within two weeks time.

This is nearly tantamount to robbery. Imagine a thug taking $345 from you without your consent, and promising to send you a refund back in the mail. What are you going to do in the meantime?

I requested to speak with a Citibank supervisor. Leigh Ann (?) was no help at all. She even told me it was my fault that I had paid off my credit card balance in full, and had not bothered to spend the time to call Citibank to tell them (that even though Citibank knew that I had paid off my entire balance) to please refrain from collecting anymore money from my credit union account. It's the way the system is set up. It's also what's written in the brochure we sent you in 2001, she said, So even though you paid off your balance, you should have called us so we wouldn't collect more.

As a customer, I believe credit card companies have a duty to make it clear what you owe on your card and the due date for for your balance. Citicards has recently changed its website format. It says on the side in bold letters. Current Balance $172.99 and underneath it says Minimum Balance Due: $20.00. Underneath that it says, Due March 17th. Current Balance refers not to the payment due on March 17, but the payment due on April 17. I have been overpaying my account as the website is incredibly misleading. When I called to complain, customer service was extremely rude. I think that in light of its current financial troubles citicards is purposely making it difficult for customer to find out how much money they owe and the actual due date. They are trying to confuse customers into paying either the minimum amount and accruing interest, or in overpaying and then still owing the minimum for the next month. I suggest avoiding doing business with citicards.

Four hours of phone calls and wrangling, and this is the best I got: Citibank says it's due by 5 pm EST, and Chase was to account for any time zone changes. Accounting for that, the payment still would have arrived on time. Then they said the response time is two business days but can't define what they mean by that and can't send me a policy describing it. So when is it really due? Citibank waived the fee this once, but it means I can never again make the payment due on what the statement says is the due date. It also means if I ever make a goof and pay late, I've exhausted my one time waiver for a mistake I never made but for which no one is willing to be held accountable for. No one can tell me who the governing agency is that I can complain to. They just keep re-routing me to Customer Service on the back of my card, which is where I began.

After calling the company and discussing the problem that I travel throughout the month, we had the billing statement date changed to the 5th of the month after the Sept. 2007 bill. I always pay the entire bill off each month. After I paid the January 2008 bill, I received a late fee of $39.00 again, even after they had received or logged my payment on the 30th of January which would be 5 days before the due date per our Sept 2007 phone agreement. They acknowledge this took place.

So I called them, and they said there was nothing they could do; and they would not credit any late fees--that due dates fluctuate. I understand to a point, but a six day swing in three months is a lot. They also kept requesting me to hook up to electronic transfer, which I told them is out of the question--especially after what I have been through with them already.

At this point I have lost over $200.00 in penalties on a card I looked at because I thought I could save money. I have four other credit cards that I do not have these problems with.

We've logged as many as 48 auto dial calls from a citigroup computer. 2 payments per month has not stopped these excessive calls, they ring our phone constantly and between voice mail and answering machine, it dials every 15 min to every hour. They will not leave a message as this is some auto dial system they've set to ring our phone.

I run an online business and cannot get work done for the every 15 min voice mail. The telephone has been shut off from ringing, so my husband can sleep during the day after working 12 hr nightshifts. Mon through Sunday these calls and rings come like clockwork, all day. Family gatherings and such are a nightmare of the phone ringing and ringing. It's impossible to get ahead of payments because of their charges added monthly, min payments are more than a whole payday- up to $600.00 they have demanded. We pay what we can, this month $350.00, but today alone there were 18 calls made to our home # from them. We're at the point of considering having the phone taken out, getting cell phones and another form of internet just so we can carry on our normal lives, get our work done, and be able to have an hour of the phone not ringing. No one is avoiding payments to Sears here, but should we pay their $600.00 month we couldn't pay anything else nor eat. This has been going on for two months solid. At their interest rates, late charges and so on, even the $300.00 did not touch the balance and was absorbed as fees and charges. They make it impossible to get the card paid down.

I put myself in to finacial ruin with those damn things. Good news is I learned my lessons and managed to get all of those cards payed off. All except one -- CITICARD.

They are charging me as much as they can. I am talkin 25%!! My minimum payment was $65.00 a month and they would charge me guess what.. $65.00 a month. So there for my balance over the last two years has been $2000.00. They say make extra payments, sure I would if I could.

I asked if they could lower my interest they said we couldnt because I was current on the account. So I skipped a month to trigger their system. I called back and they said they will lower my rate to 10% and required me to pay by eft from my checking account. I said ok whatever. So I have $66.00 taken out of my checking account every month.

I have been in this new arrangement for 3 months now and it is funny my balance is still $2000.00 plus they are trying to charge me with late fees for anything they possible can! They do not want to lose their money in any way, shape or form. Who the hell am I making rich. I have asked them if they would charge off the account and they wont.

I am convinced CITICARD doesnt care to help because they are making a lot of money off of me. The actually acount has been closed for over 4 years, but yet it will not go away. The Citibank offer of 2.99% through June of 2008 was particularly appealing. I made sure to read the fine print, which states the transaction charge was 3% of the amount transferred, with a minimum of $5 and a maximum of $50. No problem. I wrote a check (one of the checks included in their deceptive marketing packet) for $9,000 to my business account, which I am using to pay off my other credit card balances.

Again, I've done these transactions before and never had an issue. You cannot imagine my surprise when I received my first statement from Citi showing the $9,000 check (no problem), $10 interest (no problem), and $270 finance charge for the transaction. That is 3% of the entire $9,000. Nowhere on their deceptive marketing piece does it say that the checks they included did not qualify for the $50 cap and the sky was the limit.

I called Citi customer service, the agent that I spoke with was patronizing and rude to me, and all but called me stupid. Citi refuses to reduce the transaction charge.

My March 19, 2007 statement had a requirement that I pay the $325.17 balance due (or at least the minimum) several days before the end of the next billing cycle (rather than just allowing my payment to arrive DURING the next billing cycle). In this example they demand the payment be in hand before April 14, 2007 so that they could have it posted to the account no later than the 14th. Allowing for mailing times, that means I must have it mailed to them a week before the 14th -- it must be in the mail to them by April 7th.

That leaves a short window of March 20th to Aril 7th to receive the bill in the mail, review it and make out a check to pay it. Only 19 days in this example. But CitiBusiness has a policy (that they absolutely deny when I call them on it) that they are holding back the mailing out of the monthly statements so that regular postal delivery is made each month by 8 to 15 days after the month close.

So now reduce the tight 19 day payment window I mention above by 8 days and we're talking I have a MAXIMUM of 11 days to open the statement, review it and pay it.

What if I happen to be away for a week's vacation? Or otherwise out of town for a mere week or two? Figure it out, CitiBusiness knows that the tighter that make the payment window, multiplied by millions of customers each month that they are raking in the extra interest and late payment fees.

The result of the bank's pushing the payment window tigher, is that interest and late payment fees are more likely to be assessed.

I recently had a Sears Card through Citibank, I was in the process of paying it off, as my interest rates continued to grow. Each time I would call customer service to ask about odd charges and why the increase in interest, I was treated with no respect or any amount of understanding. I closed my account and just wanted to pay the card off. In January I received a bonus and according to my statement I paid the card off in full. I received a statement in March saying I still owed $47.

I called customer service and the girl was again rude and said there was nothing I could do and I still owed that money. I decided to call it quits with them that day and just hung up the phone. I just received a letter today (April 6, 2007) that is dated March 25, 2007 saying I neded to pay my balance. I called them and my payment is now 65 dollars and 36 days past due. The guy working in customer service said I need to pay it and that it is already on my credit report. This upsets me greatly being that I am trying to have a good credit score.

When I got my next statement, my APR has increased to 32.24%. I called and was told that because I was late, my interest was increased and would remain that way for 12 months. If all payments were received on time, my interest rate would be decreased. They did, however, refund the late charge, and then they put it back on again.

I used my credit card to place an order for medication on 12/21 06 for $208.99. The pharmacy telephoned me to say that they were not allowed to ship medication to my State of Nevada. So I cancelled the order. The pharmacy proceeded to charge me 3 times for the amount of $208.99, but only credited me 2 times. I tried contacting the pharmacy to resolve it to no avail. So I filed a dispute with Citibank claiming that the charge of $208.99 should be credited by the merchant because they could not ship to my state and therefore I did not receive anything and should not be charged.

They placed a conditional credit while they investigated for about a month and then reversed it because the matter was resolved when I received the 2 credits from the merchant. They didn't seem to comprehend that there were three charges and only two credits.

On August 24, 2006, I made a $500.00 payment toward my account to basically bring my account balance down to ZERO. Upon receiving the next statement, I noticed the payment was not reflected and I had accrued a late payment charge. Citibank said they never received payment. I placed a stop payment/trace on the Money Order in question from MoneyGram (the company from whom the money order was purchased). They sent me copies of the front and back of the CASHED money order. It had been cashed and cleared by Citibank on August 29, 2006.

I faxed a copy of the cashed money order to Citibank's customer service reps. They placed a conditional credit for $500.00 on my account. On September 12, 2006, they reversed the conditional credit and charged me more late fees. I called them again, and this time was told they had never received any faxes from me, and that I should re-send them. So, I did just that.

In October, November, and December, I made several follow-up calls, as the issue is STILL not resolved, and kept being told my conditional credit was reversed in September, they would investigate the matter, I should try back in a week, and would I like to purchase some ridiculous offer from them! On December 12, 2006, I received yet another letter from Citibank, this time claiming that the copies I faxed them were illegible, and that I should YET AGAIN re-fax them.

Convenience stores DO NOT QUALIFY! So, try and find a branded gas station that does not sell food or snacks. And further, many print their name as xyz mart, or Xtra mart etc. which disqualifies that purchase for the 5% discount (according to Patricia at Citicard customer service. I just did a survey and whatdaya know, I couldn't find a branded station without the convenience store name on the pump receipt. So in essence, Citicard may never have to give you a discount!

In 1999, when I did not dream of being unemployed for any long period of time, Credit Protector called me and said they were calling "on behalf of" my Citibank Mastercard". They offered me a service that I WAS looking for at the time, which was protection in case I ever became unemployed or disabled to make my minimum payments so the balance would not accumulate. The only condition was that I qualified to receive unemployment benefits. He said back then when I specifically asked him, and they still say, that as long as I showed I received or was entitled to receive unemployment benefits, the "payments would begin immediately". Further, he even said in the case one were an independent contractor and work should finish, they would start paying.

After more than five years of having me believe I had this protection with Citicard and of charging my account, but most of all of having Citicard charge me monthly fees on their charges, I sent my first claim and their answer was that they could not cover my minimum payments, which back then were low. I spent months calling them and didn't even get an explanation. I have paid Citicard way more than my purchases have been, but waiting on them to start payments, when Citicard reps themselves told me they should have been paying, they have left me with the inflated balance they created and without the service I enrolled for.

How can a business like this continue operating? I can't calculate the amount of finance charges I paid Citicard for the almost six years of Credit Protector charges, just as for other "membership clubs" charges that I never signed for, but I know if I had a small business and defrauded even one customer like that I would at least have to refund all charges associated with my business, or am I wrong?

Citibank has opened up a credit card in my name without my consent and is charging me for $4700.97 that is not my debt. The details are listed below.

    1. On February 10, 2006, I opened ONE credit card online with Citibank. At the same time I requested to have ONE balance transferred from my Chase credit card in the amount of $4700.97. On February 13, 2006, I looked up my Citibank online account and saw that the balance transfer was not showing. So I called Citibank on 2/13/06 and spoke with Donna who informed me that the balance transfer to Chase did not take place and asked me if I would like to request the transfer again, which I did. I could not remember the exact payoff amount, but knew the amount was at least $4,700.00 and so this is the amount I requested to have transferred to pay off my Chase credit card.

I then received TWO new credit cards from Citibank in the mail. I did not apply for TWO cards, I applied for ONE card. So I called Citibank and had them close the credit card ending in 3933. Citibank sent me a letter dated 2/14/06 stating that this card has been closed and stating that my account has a zero balance. I then received a statement from Chase showing TWO payoff amounts. The first amount was for $4,700.97 dated 2/10/06 and the other amount was for $4700.00 on 2/15/06.

I then called Citibank and spoke with Yolanda on 3/1/06 and explained to her that there had been 2 payoffs to Chase on my behalf when there should have been only ONE payoff. She told me that there was only ONE balance transfer showing in the amount of $4,700 dated 2/15/06. I then asked to speak with someone else; but Yolanda said there wasn’t anyone else who could help me.

I called Chase and explained that this was in fact an error. They corrected my account for the same amount. See attached letter from Chase dated 3/1/06. On February 16, 2006, I emailed Citibank and explained in detail this error. They replied by saying I would have to call and talk to someone in person.

As instructed, I called Citibank on 3/18/06. This time I spoke to Lynette, who told me once again that there was only ONE balance transfer showing. I asked if there was a supervisor or anyone in the department who I could talk to and she said there was no one that I could talk to about this. In the meantime, I have received two credit card statements from Citibank. One account ending in 3933 (which I closed) stating I owe $4,700.97. The other account ending in 1632 stating I owe $4,300.00 and this latter amount is correct, as I have already made a $300.00 payment on this account. I would like this situation remedied as soon as possible before Citibank ruins my credit. Citibank refuses to acknowledge this issue. If Citibank is slamming me with credit cards and double billing me, then they are doing this to other people as well.

They asked me about my credit cards, and it made them think "Hey, where is our statement for this month from CitiCards?" They had to call the "customer service" number in order to get a copy sent to them. Come to find out, it showed a past due balance of a crazy amount, and a minimum payment due of just over $400. They have had that payment set-up on auto-pay from their account for the past 7 years. The only thing that has ever changed is the account they pay it from.

They went online 8 months ago and changed the auto-pay to their new account. The customer service reps couldn't tell them why CitiCards hadn't been deducting the payment. They finally got throught to a supervisor, and he showed that there has never been a payment from that new account. And supposedly the account had been closed because of the lack of payment, and they were going to raise the FIXED APR of 5% to 25%. Even though the account had been closed, they were still going to have to pay the raised percentage rate!!

CitiCards closed the account, and didn't even notify them about it!! the first people they had on the phone had that information and refused to tell them their acount was closed. My parents have no choise now but to file suit against them over this. They gave them the new account number, and they didn't apply the payments towards it, yet they took it off of their old account? Something seems fishy to me.
