My Citibank Loan was sold (Transferred) to Cenlar three days prior my monthly payment due date. I was not aware 'cause neither Citibank nor Cenlar had the courtesy of informing us with enough time to prepare. Had to learn all this at the moment of making my payment at my usual Citi Branch. Now nobody either at Citibank or at Cenlar knows what I have to do. Citibank at its end reject taking my payment. When talking on the phone with Cenlar they could not find me on their systems???? Who's responsible for all this mess? Citibank??? Cenlar?
Meantime Am I going to be assessed Late Payment fees? And my credit report is going to get ruined because a bunch of mediocre non properly trained employees that do not have an idea of how to deal with this mishandled situation? What a couple of irresponsible entities Citibank and Cenlar. Where is our Great Corporate America Going to? Can someone on Executive management at Citibank and Cenlar take care of this Terrible situation you have put your customer through???? Alex

The 1st year of my loan I sent in a check and clearly marked on the payment coupon to put in as additional escrow and it got put in as additional principal. The next 3 years I sent in a check and put a sticky note on the front and back that said please put into escrow. I also marked on the payment coupon additional escrow and every time they put it in as principal.

Those of you who are just getting loans from Cenlar, I hope you don't ever experience what we did. It's literally as close to a predatory lender as you can get. We've had problems since our loan was transferred to them about 5 years ago. When we sent in actual checks, they lost our checks at least twice. About 4 times a year, our escrow would go up. We'd spend HOURS on the phone trying to find out why. We were always told our escrow was in the negative. Well, now our loan was transferred to another company and our escrow payment IMMEDIATELY went down $80 a month because WE HAD TOO MUCH MONEY IN OUR ESCROW ACCOUNT.
GOD be with you should you get even a little behind in your mortgage. It's like they literally WANT to take your house. If you get two payments behind, they WILL NOT let you make only one payment until you can catch up. Run as fast as you can from this company. I'm already extremely happy with Shellpoint where our loan was transferred.

My mortgage was transferred to Cenlar from Citimortgage earlier this year. The 1st month or so, same payment. Then, my payment went up about $10 per month. It wasn't on my paper statement, only online. Now, my payment apparently went up again, about $6 per month. Same thing-not on paper, only online. I have reached out thru their website, but I am not hopeful that I will get an answer. Why would they increase the payment when they haven't paid my taxes or homeowners insurance yet? What if I had chosen to pay by mail? Would they have attached late fees to the balance? UNFAIR COMP:ANY!!!!

I have tried to make my mortgage payment online but I am unable to locate the payment tab. I tried to download the app on my mobile phone, but I am unable to find one. I tried to make a payment through my bank but they have my account with Cenlar as nonexistent. I tried to make a payment through the automated phone line but I get connected to a live person every time since May. Now they want to charge me $9.00 for each transaction with a representative. I am forced to go through the representative because the automated telephone line does not work for me. In todays high tech world making a mortgage payment should not be this difficult. Still working on finding a solution without going through the old time writing a check and mailing it in. Claire

I am in the process of refinancing my mortgage. I needed last month mortgage and contacted Cenlar. I was put on hold for at least 20 minutes and then finally spoke with a customer relations person who said she needed to transfer me to someone else who can put in a request for my statement and I would receive it within 24 hours. Three days later; still no statement. I could tell the customer relations individual was disturbed by my request. I have tried to get my statement online and they are having IT problems. If financing isn’t tough enough; this company should not be in business.

I am very disappointed in Citibank for selling my HELOC to an incompetent company like CENLAR. Citibank themselves have handled the transfer of accounts terribly. I Will never take out another loan with them for that reason. First, all the notice I was given was a two week notice that the loan was transferred to a company I never heard of before with no follow up from either. Then when I call CENLAR was on hold for more than thirty minutes only to be quickly told that I will have to pay a $9 fee to make a payment. With more than 10 years at Citibank, never a fee to make a payment. Next, if you do it automatively it's $2. Tried that, didn't work.
Told by Kool-Aid drinking employee, a real true believer, that's because the account information has not been uploaded yet so you cant make a payment with me or online. Maybe they should get their ** straight before the first thing they start talking about is charging a fee to take a payment, which on all accounts is absurd. Welcome to corporate greed and debauchery folks!

The only reason I am giving this "company" (if that's what you want to call it), "stars" is because I had to in order for me to write this review. I would have given it a (-5) Stars if I could have or MUCH LESS! This company took over my mortgage about a year ago. Today is October 09, 2019. So sometime in 2018. Our mortgage was 756.00 monthly, (because we put down a very large downpayment, ($38,000), have GREAT credit and a pretty decent interest rate at 4.5%.
Very shortly after this company took over our mortgage, our mortgage increased to $864.00. I called to inquire about why the "raise hike" they informed me that due to a recent escrow analysis, our taxes were raised and somehow our escrow was short in addition to our homeowner's insurance was raised. "All valid". However, I called my homeowner's insurance they informed me they did raise their rates but NOT to the level that it would cause our mortgage to raise that high. I also inquired about my Homestead Exemption. According to the County Property Appraisers Office, my wife and I have (100%) homestead exemption. Representatives from this company are trying to "claim" that we do not have a "full homestead" exemption which is ENTIRELY FALSE!!!!
My wife and I out of frustration in dealing with this company had to retain an attorney to try and get this resolved. My Attorney wrote them a letter in addition to including evidence from the County Property Appraisers Office that states we do in fact qualify for 100% homestead exemption. I have spoken to approximately 4 representatives in the past several months who continue to tell me the "same" "run around". They tell me that they "put in a ticket" to have this reviewed. Which is the same exact message I have gotten from the previous 2 or 3 reps over the past several "MONTHS" prior to my call to their office on 10/09/2019. In my opinion this is FRAUD!!!!

I hate the servicing of my mortgage was transferred here. First and foremost it is very difficult to get through the automated system. Then the hold time makes you forget why you called and that you’re actually on hold. I’ve called several times, left messages and IF I get a call back my caller ID says unavailable and I don’t answer. I’ve yet to resolve the issue I called about in the first place.

To call these people incompetent would be a compliment. It's remarkable how horrendous they are. They have held up my escrow refund check for OVER TWO MONTHS. Each time I call in, it's a different BS story. "Check was cut." "Check was not cut." "Still working on it." Meanwhile, nearly TWO MONTHS AFTER THE LOAN CLOSING, I am STILL WITHOUT MY MONEY. Filed complaints with OCC and CFPB. Recommend everyone do the same.

My mortgage was transferred to Cenlar last Spring. In a few months they increased my monthly payments due to shortage of Escrow account. I requested an explanation for where my Escrow prepaids from closing went, and they sent me nothing but a transaction history, which did not show sufficient balance from the beginning. When I tried to contact them by phone, I had to spend 1 hour waiting on the phone after which they hang up on me without any response.
Another issue with them is that I cannot make my payments online due to error message I receive. I sent them URLs and screenshots to which I got a reply that the issue had been solved and it wasn't! I replied asking them to look more into it after which my online account was simply removed. I called the customer service and the representative said that my mortgage was transferred to them last August when it was actually transferred in March! I asked why I cannot access to my account to make a payment, she said that my account was deactivated due to my complaints and that I have to register again. I registered again and still unable to make online payments as well as can not see my loan history. I have to call them to make my monthly payment and after October 18th they will charge $2 for a phone payment. As a result from all this, I am seeking a portfolio refinance and have to spend another $6k for closing.

After 3-4 months of consistent drafting for both properties, they stopped drafting payments on one of my homes. I was out of town for a few months and when I returned, I received and settled my account. They are unwilling to remove the delinquency notice to the credit bureau. Was catching back up with Citi mortgage after a hardship. I was two payments from current and my loan was sold to Cenlar. Ever since it has been nothing but a headache. They would not take any partial payments so I agreed to a 5 month repayment plan (this was the best the agent claims they could do). When I go to make a payment 5/24 the agent would not take it and tells me to resubmit the plan and call back in a week to pay. When I call back this agent says it is now a new month and the plan is expired (the agent did admit that the plan was received on 5/16 and that the last agent should have taken payment) But there was nothing they could do now to help out. Best option recommended was to submit a hardship package and see if the underwriters would approve and extended repayment plan, I was also told this would keep me out of foreclosure.
Well, that was a lie. I am currently in foreclosure. I submitted this package 6/5 and it is now 9/4. Every time I call they claim they need something else submitted and every time it’s "this is all that is needed" but I send it via email, wait two days and call only to be asked for something else. It is as if they are trying to foreclose, I went from two payments behind to now 6 payments behind all because one of their agents screwed up. But hey, they don't care. Not sure how to get away from them.

Zero Stars!!! Terrible Company!! Will be talking to BBB soon about their incompetence!! Since setting up my Mortgage Account online four months ago, I have not been able to make an online payment period. I've contacted Customer Service multiple times and send multiple questions through their "Ask A Question" tab, to no avail. They say it's my browser's problem. I've tried all browsers, and my phone, none can make an online payment.
So recently I called once more for answers, as they now charge a fee for telephone payments; and I gave them my account number, address, etc. and they could not verify my account with the information I set the account up with, so they wouldn't address my problem. I asked to speak with a supervisor, but because they couldn't verify I was an account holder even with the loan's account number they wouldn't forward me to a supervisor.
This is SO FRUSTRATING. If they have a free phone pay plan, because you can't pay online, they shouldn't change it to a pay to pay your mortgage plan and make additional money off of their web page problem. It's their Problem, but it's my problem if the mortgage doesn't get paid. I have not had one good experience since my loan was transferred to Cenlar!

I was in a loan modification thru Citi when they sold it to Cenlar. When I called in to make my payment they said I wasn't able to at that time because all of the documentation from Citi was not in their system. After continuation of attempts to pay my monthly payment they continued to deny my payment because of paperwork. After 3 months I received a foreclosure letter with sale date. I quickly attempted to remedy it by doing a loan mod thru them. They sent paperwork too. 14 days to get to me and I returned all documents within 24 hours - overnight red to them.
After calling every day after the 5 day the lady that was having two conversations - one with me and one with her college about going on a cig break. Soon as she got me off the phone all the while laughing about my situation. Tells me, "File has been closed. Nothing you can do. It's going to auction. Start moving." I've been in my house for 17 years and my 4 kids have been growing up in that house their whole lives and for a company to not work with people is astounding. I had been a Citi customer for 10 years before they sold my mortgage to Cenlar. I am in a 30 yr abated & J51 condominium...I have always gotten a escrow refund in July due to the overage and have NEVER had a shortage. This July I get a escrow statement from them stating that I have a shortage of over $400.00 (although they have been taking escrow money since April and Citi paid the Tax finance department ALL of the escrow money that was in my account before they turned it over to Cenlar... My $1200 yearly escrow payment is now $6100!!!! which they claim they got from the "county". I have repeatedly asked for this alleged "county" document and I have sent them the property tax documents that show that my 2020 taxes are $1150.00 after my abatement.
These people also have not made 1 escrow payment since they took over and they have also not given me my overage. Now my $1060 mortgage is not almost $1500.00 and they cannot give me any documents!!!. Private houses in my neighborhood do not even pay $6100 in taxes. Hi, I've been with Cenlar for at least 3 years now, I mail my payments in most of the time, money orders and checks. My last payment in July 1st 2019. I mailed a check for half my payment and a money order for the remainder. They sent back the money (1000) in a form of a check and cashed my personal check, and sent me a late payment charge of $101. I called them. They said they do not accept partial payments, but of course they cashed my personal check and did not know where it was? Very strange system, I went ahead and made another payment $2027.00. I sent them a copy of the cashed check, and of course at least 10 days for their investigation on the cashed check. Again very strange payment processing system. They consider a payment with a Money Order and a Personal Check amounting to the full mortgage payment, as none acceptable, as a partial payment. So fraud alert to my bank. Best of luck with this company.

My loan was sold three times in 5 months. Just like you cannot pick your family it seems you can't pick your mortgage servicing company either. A lot of people's reviews seem to have the same experience as I did when I kept getting delinquent notices for my property tax. After more than 7 months of confusion and numerous phone calls to the property tax department everything was finally paid and Cenlar paid all of the late fees and interest. However, they got the original bill in question in January and completed everything on July 31st. This is not good service and wasted many hours of my life on sitting on the phone.
I too experienced long hold times on calls to the 855 number; misinformation from call center staff numerous times; promised callbacks from supervisors that did not occur; long delays in processing payments, and out of five supervisors only the last one might have escalated my complaint so more customers do not have the same experience. I do not know if this really happened since I did not get any sort of confirmation email. If I could give a quarter star or a negative star rating I would. Horrible service.

I sent in the documentation as requested and waited for it to be received. After 11 days, I call to get an update. I am told, wait three more days and call back to see if it was received. Since when should it take 2 weeks to determine if an email was received? All the while, the clock is ticking before they add their own flood insurance to my policy. Interestingly enough, the letter states their flood insurance is more expensive than obtained privately, yet flood insurance is supposed to be regulated with no variance in premium. Very poor customer service when the only solution offered is to keep calling back.

Citimortgage transferred servicing of my co-op mortgage account to CENLAR about two years ago. Since then the service has been appalling: long hold times on calls to the 855 number; misinformation from call center staff; promised callbacks from supervisors did not occur; long delays in processing payments, etc. Most recently, when I paid my principal balance in full I was billed for interest on that balance for an additional month. Call center staff were not able to explain why, aside from this just being "standard procedure". It seemed more likely to be a way for CENLAR to wring maximum revenue from the loan servicing.

We paid off a small second mortgage through CENLAR ahead of schedule within the past few days. Our original loan doc states no prepayment penalty. CENLAR is claiming there is a prepayment penalty, I'm guessing as a way of trying to make up the lost interest. This is after they billed us for and received $2.02. I also have the original introduction letter from CENLAR when the loan was sold to them (at that time a bal. of around $1000) stating that the terms of the loan would not be changed. I've sent them all the pertinent docs and will contact the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and FTC if they don't drop the matter as well as perhaps a local 'watchdog' group. I want people to be aware that this company is capable of really predatory practices and that they are extremely unprofessional.

This is the first review I have ever written about any product or company. But, after the incredible experience I have had with Cenlar over the past 30 days, I decided to publish my first one. It started when my home mortgage was sold/transferred to Cenlar for loan administration. When I learned of the change, I copy and pasted the appropriate information from my previous lender into the required cells in the Cenlar website/system to enable me to make electronic payments each month. After a couple of weeks, I received notice that my monthly payment was late. I contacted Cenlar to find out what was wrong and was told that my payment had been rejected by my bank. I couldn't believe what I had heard as that hasn't happened to me in over 30 years of making mortgage payments on multiple properties, so I asked that they help me figure out what was wrong.
After approximately two hours and several phone calls, we finally figured out that, in fact, I had properly copied and pasted all the appropriate information from my previous provider into the Cenlar site to enable epayments from my bank - except for the bank account number. And, even though the copied and pasted account number showed up properly in the proper cell on my screen, I was told that I would need to go back and enter it again by hand. An inconvenience and waste of time for sure, but not the end of the world. However, that's just the beginning of the story. Two weeks later, I learned that even though I had entered the next month's payment into the system as instructed, I was over-charged by almost $30,000 for that month!!!!
When I tried to find out what happened and how I could get this fixed, I was told that I had entered the wrong information into their system and that only my bank could address the problem by placing a "stop" on that month's payment. When I told Cenlar that the bank said they couldn't guarantee me that they could stop the payment - due to the fact that it was already "processing", I was told that Cenlar had no way of reversing the payment even though it was clearly wrong. I complained and was finally connected with a nice supervisor who told me that they, in fact, could issue a "reverse payment", but that they could only do so by issuing a manual check that I would receive within the next 3-4 weeks. Now, $30,000 may not be a lot of money to Cenlar, but it sure is to me. And, 3 to 4 weeks is a long time to go without it.
So, in summary, Cenlar's processes are outdated, their systems are broken - but, the call center agents are nice. Overall, the place is a joke, and I would strongly recommend avoiding it at all costs. Oh, and BTW - even though they describe themselves as the "...leading loan servicing provider ..." a main navigation button on their website is spelled Home Loam. Should have been my first clue.

After a few months I wanted to lower my monthly payments and asked the rep how to do that. He had no idea. I kept on shuttling between Cenlar and Citi when someone suggested I inquire specifically about recasting. Firstly there is no person within Cenlar you can talk to figure out how much money would reduce how much mortgage payment.
They send you a letter and each inquiry and response take at least 3 weeks. You cannot get clarifying questions. Once I wired my recast amount, they applied it to my loan but did not lower my payments. I had to go back and forth several times and months for that too. I feel defrauded, cheated and have spent so much time just trying to reduce my monthly mortgage. I am shocked a company like this to allowed to exist and govt has not done anything about it. I would not have given any stars at all as the whole experience has been terrible. I had been a Citi Mortgage customer for years and never had an issue with my mortgage. In April of 2019, Cenlar became the "accounting service" of my Citi loan. Prior to the transfer, I sent two payments to Citi requesting the first payment be reflected for March's payment and the second for April's payment. Citi cashed both checks and applied both to March's payment.
When I called Cenlar to address the issue, since Citi no longer handles the accounting of the loan, I am told by Cenlar that my Citi payments have been applied to the previous month. March's payment was applied to February and April's payment is applied to March. The rep said she would fax the history to me, but I still haven't received the fax. I am so confused as Citi has never shown that I was behind on my payments, yet the Cenlar rep says my April payment had not been made. Cenlar cashed the May payment I made and then sent three letters - one threatening foreclosure for being "one month behind", one letter telling me to contact HUD, and one for military service members. I am not a military service member and have never been.
My main issue with this company is their honesty. The letters I received stated they had been trying to contact me, which couldn't possibly have happen since they did not have a phone number for me. When I called the phone center their automation system did not recognize the loan number they assigned to me. I had to give them my SSAN. Never in all my years with Citi did I need to give a full SSAN.
I am extremely concerned about their business practices. I have not been able to log on to their website as my loan number that they assigned me is not valid. (Same as when I called their customer service telephone line). Frightening since they are the accounting service for my Citi loan. I authorized Cenlar to take a one time payment to bring my account current because I was so frustrated. I am lucky because I have the means to do so, but I am sure there are many that don't. After reading about other people's experiences I will use my due diligence to monitor Cenlar accounting of my Citi loan.

Asked for some payment information to be sent (which we never received) because funds have been inaccurately applied based on our bank transactions. We ended up signing the paperwork anyway (through notary service) and now they are saying that they are foreclosing on our house. What is wrong with these people? This is absurd. With all the negative reviews, surely we can get together a class action lawsuit. Looks like there is one already started. They are just looking for a whistleblower. This company does some very shady things that they should be ashamed of. We are going to look into other options to fix this. There has to be laws against this type of scam.

I refinanced my loan with NBKC. They sold my loan to Cenlar. My payments were to start March 1st and I opted for the auto debit bi-weekly payment plan. The nightmare started after I received a letter stating how much would be taken out bi-weekly and the start. I sent a full month's payment with the autodraft application in February. A week later a woman from Cenlar called me to ask where the check was. She said she was looking at an image of my application and check on her computer screen but didn't have the check. That was when I knew I was going to have a problem. They said my drafts would begin 4/10 which was wrong, they should have started 3/10.
In April they called me to say I hadn't made any payments in April and needed to make 2 mortgage payments because you have to be 1 month ahead to use budget drafting. I am paid up for June but will still be making the bi-weekly payments this month to stay ahead. I just received a bill due 7/1 for the full payment with a $61.92 late fee tacked on it. Dealing with CS over the phone is an absolute nightmare! I can't believe this company has been in business for 40 years, it seems more like 40 minutes!

My mortgage is with Congressional Federal Credit Union and they use Cenlar to process mortgage payments. We used our bank’s bill pay system to pay our monthly mortgage payment. The payment was withdrawn from our account per usual and on time at the beginning of May, however at the end of May we were notified by our lender that they were missing our May payment. We have been given the runaround by Cenlar and our Credit Union about where our payment went. They insist our bank has the payment, our bank insists the mortgage company has the payment. They have stolen $3500 from us and claim they ‘can’t find where the money went’. We had to pay our mortgage twice in one month and no one will take this seriously. This is how people go into foreclosure, banks stealing from their customers. I’ve never seen anything like this. Cenlar has over 600 complaints with the BBB. We need to file a complaint under FCPA.

Talked to 2 different customer service agents who didn’t know why that happened to my account and when I spoke with the supervisor, he said at least I don’t have to pay my mortgage for 2 months. When asked how to get one of my payments returned, he didn’t help me one bit and said there’s nothing he can do and no one else that could help me because he already asked his supervisor. Well, 5 days later both mortgage payments went back in my bank account, then Cenlar decided to send me a nasty gram stating I was overdue on a payment and charged me a late fee....the date stamp was a day after I had called about my account. This company is garbage and unprofessional!

Before I describe their deceitful practice, I am hoping to find a lawyer who would be wiling to file a class action lawsuit against Cenlar, based on the hundreds of complaints here. My homeowner insurance expires in two days and despite the numerous calls I have made to Cenlar and spoke to countless number of service representatives, I will end up having to pay the premium out of my own pocket and then figure out how to get my money back even though Cenlar charges me each month for money to be added to my escrow account. My insurance company had been sending them letters about the premium due for the last two months but they never responded and I only knew about this problem when the insurance company sent me a letter indicating the cancellation of my insurance policy.
I then reached out to Cenlar but was treated rudely indicating that they had sent a check to the insurance company but that over three weeks and the check never arrived. They refused to call the insurance company and only on my sixth attempt, they stated that they would overnight a check. But again, that never happened. I called again and they promised to overnight a check this morning since my policy expires in two days. But when I called to validate that a check was sent out for overnight delivery, I was again told that this transition request was not approved and I would have to wait ten days for a check to be issued. My policy expires in two days!
I believe this company is conducting business in a dishonest fashion and I am confident that upon examining their books, the regulators and law enforcement will discover many shady practices, including not paying insurance premiums or property taxes from their customers’ escrow accounts. I have also filed several complaints to the federal regulators and will seek legal action in the hopes that this company will be out of business so some other lender will take over my loan.

I was a customer of Citi and our loan was sold to Cenlar. We were behind in our payments when it was sold. I attempted to make payments but they started foreclosure shortly after acquiring our loan. Before they did that I had made a payment to them. It mysteriously disappeared. It cleared our bank but wasn’t anywhere in their records! Needless to say I hired an attorney immediately because I didn’t trust doing anything on my own.

My loan was sold by Citi to them. We had fallen behind on payments and were denied by Citi for a modification. I was trying to make payments on my own but struggled. Citi sent out certified letters each month regarding the payments. I got the letter they were transferring us to Cenlar as of April first. I called them to set up payments and see where we stood with them. Shortly after the loan transferred they couldn’t answer any of my questions because not all the info was transferred over yet. I set up two payments with them. One didn’t clear. One did. I called back to see what had happened with the other payment. I was told they sent me a “foreclosure” summary which I never got in the mail the phone then hung up. So I called back at that time I asked if I could still make payments. Before I got an answer the phone hung up again.
The THIRD time I called they told me I could make a payment with them so I set up two for this month. I just called yesterday to touch base and they said I’m in pre-foreclosure status. They will NOT honor any payments unless I pay 5000 in full. I seriously have spoken with these people weekly since the transfer and I get different answers every time nor have I at any point received documentation from them telling me formally that they are going forward with foreclosure. I was under the impression that I’m suppose to be given a notice of some kind and 30 days from that day to cure the default. I am done doing this myself. I’m retaining an attorney because I don’t trust these people whatsoever.

I owe $865 for May, which I was willing to pay but was told I have to pay June's full payment before I could set up bimonthly automated payment. That all loans have to be paid 1 month ahead. Unfortunately, my mortgage was sold to Cenlar. I decided to use their "Budget payment" feature in which you can send a payment twice a month to reduce amount of compounding interest. It seemed like a great deal. At some point, they decided to stop accepting my payments (because my bank was automatically sending them payments instead of them withdrawing the payments). It was the same payment they had been accepting for many months. My statements would indicate that they applied the payment then immediately removed it, which is crazy. What's crazier is that the money was not returned to my account.
My payments were going into thin air! Note that I pay additional principal each month and am not even close to being delinquent. I think it's a scam to try to make people delinquent then force them to pay fees. Note that they take forever to respond to messages and you'll be waiting quite a bit to talk to them over the phone, so having your mortgage switched to Cenlar is, well, time consuming and frustrating.

2) I received the first statement from them about 5 days before the next payment was due (which is today). She clarified the due date was the date we set up to pay, and that there is a 15-day grace period beyond that, and that during the transfer, there is a 60-day blackout period where no negative actions can be taken against the borrower.
3) My first 3 calls to Cenlar were via a maddening phone tree, which then dropped my calls after navigating through the access channels multiple times.
4) Nowhere on the statement do they let you know whether or not your auto-draft set up previously with Citi is still operative, and there is no place on the statement that reveals how their first payment collection was made. (Are they reporting a draft taken by Citibank? Did they themselves take the bank draft using credentials transferred by Citi?)
I haven't really used the website yet except to try to get a phone number (says unavailable) and I couldn't even find the chat link referred to on another information page. So the jury is out on how well that will function. Final resolution is that I don't have to do anything; that my auto bank drafts will continue uninterrupted. My actual wait time was not terribly long, either-- only about 10 minutes. She said that today was unusually quiet but that it's been non-stop for the reps there, with people often having waited a long time.

First, the information they provided was extremely unclear if my automatic deductions would continue. The website doesn't show this. The "Chat" button actually is not a chat but simply FAQ. I have not found it possible to reach a customer service representative after two calls. Both with long holds. After the second call and being on hold for 25 minutes, the call "disconnected". I registered an online account and now after one day, the login doesn't work but the error message doesn't indicate why. I have tried to access their 'portal' multiple times and it always gives me an error. I know loan servicing companies are required to have a certain uptime and it's been 100% failure for me. Bills (insurance and taxes) are not paid on time and it is very difficult to reach them to prevent issues with payments or enforce them. Wait time on the phone to reach customer service is typically 40+ minutes if it does not get cut. My husband and I bought our first home in Florida back in 2016. Our mortgage was sold to Cenlar a few months after closing. So far we have no complaints. The website is always available aside from routine maintenance and is easy enough to navigate. If it helps anyone I use the Google Chrome browser to log on. I know it's working because I just logged on this morning. They have features such as Budget Draft that are helping us pay off our home faster. This is when they split the mortgage in half to be paid biweekly. You also can set it up for payments to only come out of your account when you get paid. It's a nice alternative to refinancing because you can automatically take whatever extra principal payments you want every 2 weeks. Doing this has turned a 30 year mortgage down to a 10 year one and even if things get rough we can stop having them take out the extra principal payments with a simple phone call.
That being said I took off a star for a reason. As with any company, dealing with customer service can be a crap shoot. Some representatives are very helpful and give me what I need in a short amount of time. The reps who helped me set up the budget draft were great and I haven't had a problem since. Some don't know what they are doing.
Once I wanted to know when I could get the PMI taken off my loan and whoever I dealt with didn't know how to help me. I wound up just figuring it out myself. Sometimes the hold times are long too. As irritating as that can be the solution is simple. Hang up and call back when they are less busy if you do not have the time or patience to wait. Anyone who has ever worked in customer service knows you can't always get to all the calls when so much is going on. It doesn't have to mean they don't care about your call. It could be as simple as not having enough ears and mouths on staff to take it right that second. Also if you get stuck with a goober on the phone don't be afraid to hang up and try to get a better rep.
One suggestion I have to Cenlar is to be very clear when offering disaster "help." After Hurricane Irma knocked a 5 ton tree on our house in 2017 we reached out to Cenlar. They said they could pause our payments for 3 months while we figured out how we were going to tackle the repairs and tree removal. What they didn't tell us is that when those 3 months were up we were going to have to pay all three months mortgage in full. So this was more of a "die another day" strategy than actual help. We were under the impression that once we resumed payments it would be one month at a time and it would take just a bit longer to pay off the loan. Luckily we had the money to cover it or we would have been screwed.
All in all Cenlar hasn't given us any real problems. All our payments come out on time and are correct. If you get the right agent on the phone they can solve your problems quickly and efficiently. Some agents just need more training. Any company can have issues like that. Just be patient and check your settings for login problems. If they are that terrible try refinancing with a new company. As far as we care concerned we have no reason to waste money on jumping a ship that's not sinking.

Secondly, & certainly the worst part of this whole experience is that during *BOTH* months, they’ve tried to withdrawal *2* payments, for the same amount, within days of each other, resulting in overdraft fees from my banking institution. (I attempted to call their customer service number, to ask why they’re trying to withdrawal *2* payments, but of course, their pre-recorded message says that “wait times could be longer than normal.” Waited nearly 10 minutes to talk to a customer service representative.)

Customer service is rude, they literally will put the phone down while you're talking to them so they don't have to listen. Management/Supervisors refuse to answer calls. Currently they're holding money my insurance company gave me for a claim. They can't figure out what it is that we need them to do so they can release the money so we can pay our contractors.
Currently we are having to pay everything out of pocket. You'd think they'd want to help facilitate the process so that home is repaired correctly in a timely manner. I had a loan with Cenlar for 8 years and in December 2018 Cenlar sold my loan to Citibank. I called Cenlar 3 times to ask and confirm that my biweekly automatic mortgage payments would be terminated since the loan was transferred to Citibank. I was told by 3 different CS reps with Cenlar that my auto payments would be canceled. Additionally, I was instructed by Citibank to initiate a new auto payment through them. Long story short Cenlar kept deducting payments from my account even though I no longer had a loan with them. So therefore both Cenlar & Citibank were both deducting payments every month from my bank account, resulting in double payments. It has been a nightmare trying to get over $4k of my money back. I've had to solicit the services of Consumer Protection and BBB to assist me with the return of my funds. The most frustrating customer service experience I've ever experience.

When I called to ask why, they told me to contact my bank and the customer service rep, probably from the Philippines who could barely understand me, wouldn't tell me more. This is terrifying thinking about what they would do to my credit score. I am stuck with them as I have a really good rate but I am going to keep a close eye on everything moving forward. Beware!

First of all, I would like to know why CitiMortgage transferred loan servicing to these folks!! Always paid my mortgage on time and added $100 towards principal. Went online to CitiMortgage to pay February 2019 payment and was directed to Cenlar. Mind you - wasn't able to log in to their website to submit a payment and when I called them (which took forever to get to a live voice) they had no record of my CitiMortgage Account or who I was!! I was told me try back on February 8 to establish an account or call them - since Cenlar was still in the process of receiving transferred accounts from CitiMortgage.
Finally I was able to establish an account on Cenlar and received an email confirmation that my transaction was processed. Lo and behold, today (02/14) the transaction was not processed. Called Cenlar and they told me that "my bank" declined the transaction - and it was probably because they did not recognize Cenlar's name or my bank thought it was fraudulent activity. Called my bank and they had no record of the transaction - at all!
Called Cenlar again (all I want to do is pay my mortgage on-time without a late fee or showing up on my credit report as late)! I paid it over the phone and was assured (yeah - whatever) that this February payment would not show up on credit report as being late - and I was charged an additional $5.00 and asked if I wanted to sign-up for automatic draft payments!! Really people?? - REALLY!! Wow - after 1 hour on the phone and dealing with the website, can only imagine what March 1st is going to be like. Trying to give the benefit of the doubt - but this sucks!!! Don’t know why the wheel needs to be fixed - when it wasn’t broken! Not a happy camper!!

Their response is to wait 60 minutes and contact them again for their help.
After, re-explaining the situation the rep. will tell me he or she is calling/emailing the online access dept and I'll hear from them (they refuse to provide me with contact info for this department). Of course, this hasn't happened after two promises. Just finished with another request and will cross my fingers. I've never had so much trouble with an online account and experienced such indifference and lack of followthrough from any business. I feel bad for those of you whose payments have been lost or otherwise misallocated - as my problem is minor compared to lost money or problems which affect borrowers credit reports. My understanding is they are just the loan processor and don't actually hold the loan, therefore their client is the lender and we, the borrowers, just don't matter to them. Have had several issues with Cenlar, including property taxes simply NOT getting paid to my county. This time, duplicate payment was made in error (former Bill Pay I thought was deleted on my bank's end wound up going through), in addition to my auto-pay through Cenlar. Two robot-esque reps told me a refund was not available since it was "my fault, not theirs". After demanding a Manager, I was transferred to Elliott, an Escalation Specialist, who told me that since we caught it immediately, he could pursue a refund; this was on 10/2. He explained this would be check-free, as opposed to them mailing a check. Sounds good, as I'd like to be refunded ASAP. (Simultaneously, I pursued a claim with my Bill Pay bank, but that's a nightmare for a Wells Fargo review!) He wouldn't give me his phone number, but did send me his email address if I needed to follow up.
On 10/8 I emailed to follow up on my refund status, and he promptly replied, stating the refund was processed on 10/5, but after 2 pm, and since 10/8 was a bank holiday, I would receive the money in my bank account on 10/9. That date comes and goes, and still no refund. I call Cenlar this morning, and after 3 robot-esque Reps and 30 minutes, I learn that 'check-free' actually refers to Check-Free, a 3rd party vendor who processes their refunds, and THEY could take up to 21 days. So I ask for the Check-Free contact info and reference information to follow up with them. "Oh, we don't have that. Check with your bank. Maybe they know."
Of course my bank doesn't know who Check-Free is, and cannot provide any contact info. And, no surprise, Elliott the Escalation Specialist is now ignoring my emails. So now my money is being held hostage by a company that no one claims to know anything about. I wonder if I'll EVER get my refund... $1600 down the drain. BUYER BEWARE! Do not do business with this company!!!!

It's difficult to break down how many problems I've had with this company. 1 - Failed to recognize my homeowners status and charged me investment property taxes. REFUSED TO CONFESS they made a mistake, had more than one person review the account forcibly because the company doesn't believe in investigating potential issues. 2 - Charged me $1600 for insurance, I'd already paid for. "IT WAS AN OVERSIGHT IN THE PAPERWORK". I reviewed the bill with them 3 times and asked a million questions about the line items before anyone bothered to investigate.
3- Every time you call to speak with an agent, they ask if they tell you, you are being recorded and confirm they can reach you by phone if there is an issue with your account. When the property tax issue came up, they were mailing to my street address but failed to add my apartment number. I was never notified of issues so that I could proactively resolve them at that moment. I had to call to inform them to add the condo number to the correspondence. HOWEVER HOW COULD THEY NOT KNOW THE CONDO NUMBER SINCE THEY WERE EASILY CHARGING ME A MORTGAGE PAYMENT FOR IT??? It's a NO brainer. Do not ever deal with this company. They are a true example of mismanagement. I can only imagine how much money they cost people who simply trust this company will look out for them.

Now they state I owe $10K in property taxes where my current statement was for 6.5K. In process of utilizing mortgage loan officer at HomeBridge to help resolve this. Very poor ability to add extra funds to escrow account on a monthly basis, has to be manually entered. Unable to reach by phone, system is unavailable, too busy, or simply does not answer. I've been trying to get this straightened out for 6 months. My 4 year old granddaughter could figure this out. I also asked CENLAR if they provide home equity line of credits, they said no, so I had to go to another bank. The other bank then asks for an appraisal of the home to get the HELOC, and since I had already had an appraisal done for CENLAR, I figured I could use the same report for the other bank. I was wrong. Once I get my appraisal report, it doesn’t have my name as the borrower, so the other bank does not accept it.
I got in touch with the appraiser, and he tells me he cannot revise the report unless CENLAR asked him to. I emailed CENLAR about this, and received nothing. The only thing I received was an automated email from CENLAR saying they will remove PMI, but nothing else. I sent them two more emails, and nothing. About two months ago (June) I signed up for automatic payments after nearly four years of paying manually. Soon after our house was put on the market and went under contract. The following month (July), I paid manually out of habit, and the automatic payment was also taken out. Our home was scheduled for closing and the loan would be paid off before the September payment was due as our online account stated the next payment was due 1 September, so I did not think August would be an issue. Well, August rolled around and the payment was still taken out. I called the company to request a refund for the last payment and was told that because it was "my fault" they could not provide a refund. So now I've lost over $1300 on a home that I won't even own at the time the payment should have been due. I asked to speak with a manager and was sent back through the original routing system. So frustrating.

They let my Home Owners Insurance (required by VA) lapse in spite of several requests made by the insurance company for payment and made no attempt to notify me. When I finally got hold of someone, Paul **, he fed me one lie after another, nothing he has told is true. I went out and purchased another policy and paid for the year in full. Customer service reps are even worse, they think that the question "Is your phone number cell, work, or home?" is a security question (it is unverifiable).
Finally, after calling the person that originated the loan, Carlos **, did Paul call me back. In the many calls I had to make, I found out that in addition to continuing to bill me for my prepaid HOI, they (CENLAR) actually paid the insurance a second time, in full, $667.00. I therefore have to call again and then find out the why's my payment did not post, oh they are not sure but will take another one. I cannot get anyone on the phone to get my escrow account straight, I switched insurance and send them the paid receipt, binder and so did my agent! Plus I called them, the day I bound and faxed in the information and the following day to have a conversation with them about NOT paying for it as the balance is ZERO! My agent sent me what they send which was a receipt showing paid in full... They are saying my agent sent in a bill due requesting the check be overnighted.
I am in process of gathering all the hard information. I am sick of the run around for the last 7 months! I have now been on hold for over 2 hours, the first hour and few minutes they hung me up! I have all my documentation which is why I only call from my cell phone everything is timed, stamped and dated. Plus I have about 4 pages of a spiral notebook full of notes, times, who, and what I was told or what the action was... The customer service agents don't know anything, they push you off onto the next person. I have had several times they ask if they can put me on hold for a few and then they drop me back into the queue.
Now please understand, I am direct, I am not warm and fuzzy! I am also firm, which they do not like, however this is my money, my home they are playing with! They do not take it seriously whatsoever! My next stop is the CFPB... I am sick of all of this and for me it is even more frustrating as I have been a mortgage originator for almost 25 years. After 10 calls and emails spanning from February to April, I was told to disregard the delinquent notice, and that no taxes were owed. In reality, I was delinquent with the county and school district, due to an error that the county made two years ago.
At this point I involved a tax consultant and had to pay both tax authorities on my own, including accrued interest, which was almost $5,000. I wrote a formal complaint to Cenlar, asking them to reimburse me for the accrued interest, and they told me that it wasn’t their fault. This was an error by the county and ultimately I’m responsible for the payments because these bills were “supplemental” due to the error, and that’s not part of their contract. How was I supposed to know that? And if they would have told me that when I called in February, I would have paid at that time and not owed the accrued interest.

I have insurance through American Family and they added Travelers Insurance Company, and I have a third floor condo so funny they would add flood insurance, they issued me a refund.
One year later today, I am at a shortage again in escrow and my monthly mortgage payments are going up, this time they said my taxes increased, and because of the refund check that both combined added to my escrow shortage. I am calling Tax Dept. tomorrow and getting a report from Cenlar to go over everything. I saw all these comments and my heart hurts to see these reviews. I just spoke with the law office that sued and settled the case ** vs. Cenlar, Attorney Max ** foreclosure boot camp, Ms. Hao ** and Baraza Law firm were all involved with the success. I truly want to just find a new loan, somewhere else, because something just isn’t right.

BEWARE!!! Since July 2017, I have been dealing with the most INCOMPETENT BUNCH OF ILLITERATE PEOPLE THAT I HAVE EVER HAD THE DISPLEASURE OF DEALING WITH, IN MY LIFE! Not one single person that you speak to knows the answer to ANYTHING and when they don't know, they just hang up! I spent over 5 hours of my life, that I can't get back, trying to have them fix their "Annual Escrow Projection" for the year to come. After being hung up on, 4 times, I finally spoke with someone that said she understood my issue and would fix it before the new payment increase/decrease would take place, IN September 2017. We own 2 plots, one for our home and the other is a lot right next to the house. We pay property taxes every 6 months and obviously the taxes for the house are much greater. These MORONS double booked the property taxes for the house 4 times, instead of 2, which made our "escrow short".
Our monthly mortgage went up over $100 plus per month, according to their projections. When I didn't receive the "updated" escrow analysis, I wrote not 1 but 3 letters requesting under the RESPA act that they fix their errors. Well, that never happened! When it came time for their "inflated" amount, I sent them the correct amount, which was actually a little lower than the prior year. THEY HELD THE CHECKS AND FORECLOSED ON MY HOUSE! I NEVER received a "default" letter, well let me say that I did, AFTER they foreclosed! Apparently, they DON'T take "partial payments", as they stated. I asked them where my checks were and 3 different reps HAD NO CLUE! According to my contract with the "original lender", who isn't actually our lender but in fact a MORTGAGE SERVICER, we could make partial payments.
Although these weren't partial payments, they just put the check up and then after they foreclosed, the checks mysteriously appeared and they mailed them back! I had to put up almost $400.00 to file Chapter 13 to stop the sale of our home. We didn't find out through them nor their attorney about the sale, at first. In fact, I got my mail one afternoon and received a bunch of letters from other Chapter 13 attorneys and THAT WAS WHEN I FOUND OUT THE HOUSE WAS UP FOR SALE - they wanted to "represent us in filing Chapter 13... WHAT??! Then, I panicked and called one of the attorneys that I received a letter from because the only way CENLAR would stop the sale was if I paid the loan up current. Well let's see, the loan WAS paid but they wanted late fees, property inspection fees... The amount was almost $4,000 more than we OWED THEM!
This being our first home, I sent the attorney $3,000 for help. He assured me that he would do this and that, **! I ended up losing the money and found out less than a week before the sale that I WAS PRETTY MUCH SCREWED! I then researched and called the HOPE hotline. I worked out a loan modification agreement but I wanted them to fix their errors because had they NOT have charged us an inflated rate to begin with, THE LOAN WOULD BE FINE. Long story short, I am now waiting for another attorney to look over the paperwork so we don't lose our home! This has been the 2nd worst experience of my life... The first was when we waited for almost 3 months to even close on this house! CENLAR has destroyed our credit and have reported totally inaccurate information to the credit bureaus...
You can BET that I will be filing charges against them for that. For now, I am trying to save my home... It has literally consumed my entire life for about a month and a half now! I have a 9 year old son and he has asked for me to play with him but I CAN'T and I try to explain that BAD people are trying to take our house and I have to concentrate on this but to see his poor face, it is upsetting and unsettling, to say the very least! If anyone has any suggestions on how to nail these S.O.B.'s, I am all ears! I will do anything to make them pay for turning my life and my family's upside down! If there are any attorney's (that don't want $12,000 plus) that can help, please sent me a message...
THEY HAVE VIOLATED A FEW ACTS, THAT I CAN PROVE, and I want to nail them to the wall! Sorry so long, I just had to get it out! No one else to vent to and I came across so many people complaining about them, I thought I would put my story out... PEOPLE, BE VERY CAREFUL! They are slime and will pull dirty ** to get your home, by any means possible, all due to their mistakes!!!

They are overcharging me on my escrow account. Property taxes were lowered after we homesteaded property significantly and insurance premiums were also reduced. Somehow my payment jumped over $200 per month. We have sent in the required info to correct this increase FOUR times yet they claim to not have it. Never heard of this company until our loan was sold to them after purchase. Completely disorganized company and customer service reps are no help!

We've never miss one payment nor have we ever been late for payment, yet we are being evicted out of a house. Our loan was sold to Cenlar but yet Cenlar never notified us that they had a loan (I do put some of the blame on the previous company as well for this as well). Regardless, once we found out that Cenlar had our loan we paid them on time every month for maybe about a year-and-a-half. One day when we called to make a payment they told us that they no longer had our account. Turns out they'd actually sold our loan to another company a long time ago and never told us, but yet they were still taking our payments every month. We did some research to find out what was going on with our house since we'd discovered we'd apparently been paying the wrong company, and it turns out that not only was it in foreclosure but it had recently been sold!
We are now working with the company that represents individuals like us - who have documentation of every payment and phone records with the dates that we called Cenlar to make the payments - that are being unlawfully removed or evicted from their house. However there's still nothing anyone can do at this point to reverse the fact that our house has been sold... meaning our family has to leave our house within a reasonable amount of time and find another place to live.
The biggest issue I have with all of this is that, I could understand if we were notified that Cenlar no longer had our loan, but we were not. Even worse, there's tons of people who are still living in homes who are two and three months behind on house payments, but yet our family who paid promptly and on time every month is being asked to leave because Cenlar was still accepting payments that should have been going to another company that they failed to let us know they'd sold the loan to. I would not recommend Cenlar to anyone. They may be helpful to some people, but from what I can tell it appears they have way more complaints and compliments.

I give them 1 star as they aren't even WORTH 1 star. But the system wouldn't let me not pick a star and I wasn't given the option of negative stars. The worst mortgage company EVER. Never sent my statement, I had to call THEM to get a statement. Then they suggested, I just drop a check in the mail to them WITHOUT an account number or payment information. When I finally pressured, I was told I could print out a statement on their website. NOW I am getting threatening letters from them that I do NOT have hazard insurance and they will be purchasing this for me. I have talked to three of their "Customer Service" representatives, yet I continue to get these threatening letters.
THEY purchased my mortgage from another lender, it is NOT MY job to ensure they DO THEIR job. I have supplied them MULTIPLE times with proof. If they cannot find the documentation provided to them it is NOT MY problem. That would be their problem. The documentation was provided to previous mortgage lender - it is still valid. They have all the documentation they need. If they EVEN try to charge me some scam insurance - my lawyer will be speaking to them next.

We bought a newly constructed house during the middle of the year and our mortgage was sold to Cenlar. They told us that the insurance was not calculated properly and they adjusted the loan payment to include the whole year. My husband told them that he wanted to pay the amount owed for the insurance because he did not wanted it in the loan payment. They told him the amount and he paid it in full, but each month thereafter it's been a battle with them because they are still including the additional payment for the insurance. They have set up their website so that you cannot pay any other amount than what they have determined that you owe. When you call and they look into your account they will tell you that they see where you paid for the insurance and the correct mortgage loan amount but they cannot accept anything less than the amount shown which is incorrect and is over the mortgage owed.
Every month I call and they tell you they will get a supervisor because they cannot change the amount and put you on hold for over a hour. My husband is working in the Middle East and he called this morning and was so frustrated because they would not do anything and he was waiting for more than an hour and he hung up. We have also been trying to login on their website for several days and changing passwords because it would not let you login. Every password was not accepted, after several days I finally got in and paid the amount stated even though it was over my mortgage loan amount because I did not want my credit rating damaged, but I am so frustrated with this company. They are the most unreasonable company with extremely poor service and no help to their customers. The CS Rep I dealt with assured me that I would not be reported to the credit bureaus for being late. Wrong! They dinged my credit. I disputed it. But failed to do it with all the bureaus. They took it off of an agency called Innovis (?) but when I tried to remove it from the others, they denied and put it back on! Disastrous Customer Service, very dishonest. I was directed to send documentation to their CS email. I did and no one cared to review it. I got a response back telling me to send documentation... They had no clue.
Their automated email response states you will receive a response to your emails within 24 hours. Nope, try at least 2 weeks. I am looking to buy a new home and because of this company, I will not get as good of an interest rate. I am not sure of the lending rules... Within 5 days!!? 2 statements?! What for? I've been with them for 4 years. I never modified my loan. I've been contacting them for 1.5 years and they can’t tell me who requested it. Why it was requested. And who gave them permission to authorize charges from me without me knowing. They gave me the run around of saying “we’ll put a note to remove it”. It’s been a year and still on every statement.
Beginning of 2018, I called again and this time they say put it in writing and fax. 1 month later I received a letter they cannot remove it due to in mandatory state of California to charge the fee. Why would the state of California request my payoff statement??!! April 4 2018, Porcha wouldn’t remove the fee or take any action for me and she said “go ahead and file a lawsuit then”. I too have been forced to deal with CENLAR since my home loan was sold to them in 2014. Last August (2017) my house was flooded from a failed water heater. I filed my claim in early September with my insurance company with instructions to send this check to CENLAR. This is when the real fun began. Since then I have been required to send two reimbursement checks from my insurance company. This is something I had to do. CENLAR must also endorse my homeowners check before we recoup our expenses. Keep in mind I have been through two iterations, now working on number three.
Their incompetence is stunning! The first check was sent to their claims center in Florence S.C., perhaps as early as October 1st. After thirty days I contacted the claims center (this too requires an act of God) to check on my claim. Despite having my account number, my insurance company check number, the check amount, their own claim number and finally CENLAR's own tracking number no one knew a damn thing about it. I'm now working on the third insurance check. Instead of sending this check registered mail with an equal registered mail return, I'm tempted to fly to Florence S.C., physically place check number three in their hands then wait until a simple stamped endorsement on the back of check three and is handed back to me. If your mortgage is sold to CENLAR I feel for you. I don't know to accomplish this but if it is possible to have some other mortgage company purchase your loan DO IT!

We finally got a hold of them and they offered to break up the payments. In which we paid on time. As of recently, they reported this to my credit as being 120 days late on my mortgage!! Which is completely false!! I reported this to the credit bureau and they are currently in a major dispute with them.
Cenlar, claimed they mailed me a paper to sign agreeing to the forbearance, which was never received. They are now sending me this document, and because they stated I never signed I but paid everything on time, they reported it to my credit. I have tried calling them again for this, but I'm constantly on hold and I am not allowed to access my account from their website. I am seeking legal action against this company. Our family was sent an email after Hurricane Harvey hit our area in Kingwood Texas. All we had to do was reply yes to an email and then our loan would go into forbearance for 3 months. After that we were to start making a regular payments and then fill out some paperwork to get our loan either modified or for the three months that we did not pay to go to the end of our loan. Three months later we made our first payment. No problem started the paperwork up the next month January. We tried to make a payment over the phone and they said we were no longer allowed to make payments because we had missed too many. They said to set aside the money and once the loan modification process had gone through we have catch up on our payments. We could not play online, even though we tried to each month. Each month I would try to call and make a payment and they said that we couldn't make a payment because we are too far behind.
So we kept saving our money and then yesterday after sending in all of the paperwork I called to where the process was. They said that we were in foreclosure because we had not sent in the right paperwork, even though we did receive no additional letter saying that any more paperwork was needed. That same day after I got home we had a letter from a lawyer saying that we were now in foreclosure and that we owe the full amount of our loan. Each time I would talk to a different person on the phone they would tell us that yes we had all your paperwork or no we didn't have a your paperwork or we had three copies of your paperwork. Never consistent.
So my husband finally called today and they said there was nothing they could do to stop the foreclosure process, we just had to call the lawyer and Faith pay the full amount of what we owed including the 3 months of forbearance they had offered in the beginning. He asked handedly if there was a supervisor that would be able to take us out of foreclosure to which the customer service representative replied, "No. Not really. You can try to wait it out but your house will go into foreclosure."
We are responsible people who did everything they asked and they still managed to put us into foreclosure. Luckily we set our savings aside for each month and are able to pay the full price, but know that other victims of hurricane Harvey will not be able to. This company should be ashamed of itself and the federal government should do something to regulate what it's doing to other people who are in crisis and have gone through the traumatic events that hurricanes bring.

So I received a letter from my county saying that three of my tax parcels had been sold off. After calling in the beginning of February and getting it all sorted out (or so I thought) I had to call back 5 times because the 5-7 days turned out to be a month for them to “research” what to pay and where. After receiving an email saying they paid all three taxes I just believed it was done. Until I received another letter from the county on 3/17.
After calling the county clerk on Monday 3/19 the taxes still haven’t been paid. While speaking to the person at Cenlar they said they paid them, and they can send info to the escalation dept and they will get back to me in 2-3 days. RUN RUN RUN! Lenders can make mistakes, but this CENLAR does NOT NOT NOT care about taking responsibility to help Veterans when they and one of their warehouse lenders, Veterans First, makes a mistake. Giving them a 1 star is too much for dishonest dealings. Up front, friendly and seemed competent, but the people my buyers dealt with ended up knowing absolutely nothing about TWIA and the Texas Windstorm Insurance requirements. We had to educate them, then they still ignored my buyer's submission of invoices and paperwork for coverage. Instead, they insisted on using coverage they allegedly verified separately through GEICO's Texas contact, or we couldn't close.
A few weeks later, the buyers received a refund for "OVERPAYMENT" of premium. It didn't sound right to me, but again, it was allegedly verified by the Veterans First team. Shortly thereafter, Hurricane Harvey hit the Texas Gulf Coast. The Buyers' house was damaged. They tried to file a claim with TWIA, but they couldn't find the policy. So in checking with GEICO's connection in Texas who was supposed to take care of it after receiving funds, buyer was told "no premium payment was received", so no insurance. When we tried to get Veterans First to help, they refused.
When we investigated further, we found out it was Veterans First's error in their instructions to the title company and subsequent error of Wellington Insurance (GEICO's assigned agency) that both affected whether or not the buyers had any TWIA coverage. It was not until we threatened to sue that Veterans First had their attorney contact me and lead us to believe they were going to fairly settle the claim. They asked me for proof. We sent "some" emails as evidence of what the buyers requested for insurance versus what Veterans First made them use. Suddenly, even with proof in their hands that Veterans First made the initial error, their attorney stopped communicating and has made no effort to help out the veteran buyer that they allegedly care for.
Fortunately, at the advise of a professional who had a lot of legal dealings, we weren't stupid enough to send all evidence, including the recorded phone conversations that proved the loan office had no clue about TWIA coverage. So now we are filing complaints with the State of Texas against Veterans First, iFreedom (their parent company), CENLAR who Veterans First sold loan to and who sent letters with false information to the veteran and then promised to investigate (but also has cut off communications), GEICO, Wellington Insurance and StarStone National Insurance (affiliated with Wellington). RUN RUN RUN!!! Stay away from this lender and Veterans First.

Then Cenlar took over, when Cenlar did their first escrow analysis, according to them, we were at a shortage of $3,200. So we paid our shortage in full and our mortgage still went up $268. Our mortgage was sold to Cenlar in 2016. The experience from the beginning has been a nightmare. The business model seems to be shady policies protected by horrible communications mediums. For example Cenlar made us get more flood insurance coverage than our prior mortgage company. They, of course, have an arrangement with an insurer where we would purchase this additional insurance. And of course these payments must be done in the escrow account. When we decided to buy this additional insurance from our current flood insurance provider, Cenlar raised the coverage requirements again. It’s like a penalty for not going through them.
What is Cenlar basing these insurance requirement on? Ironically, Cenlar will not allow us to pay all (original + additional required) flood insurance to our current ourselves. They are requiring us to use an escrow account, where they manage the payments. We do not trust Cenlar a little bit. We are worried that Cenlar will purposely miss the premium payment and we will lose our policy; then be forced to buy the insurance through Cenlar. This is just one of many unfortunate issues we have had with this mortgage company. We are more than happy to take a stand against their business practices.

I sent in their dumb useless packet on July 27th, 2017. I was told once they get the packet I would be made aware of additional documents they may need. And it would be processed in 30 days. Well that was a lie. Didn't hear from them for 3 weeks. I called and called and called getting nothing but run around. They kept requesting documents I already sent in multiple times. So what should have taken maybe 45-60 days actually took over 3 months. All awhile I was getting treatment and could not physically work.
So in mid Nov 2017 I finally (after about 30 calls I made to them) received word that they approved my modification. But wait... Instead of paying my normal $1603.00 a month it was now going to be $1667.00 a month. I was floored. All the bs I went through for months and months and months - all for nothing. So naturally I appealed it (they are out of their mind) to think I was going to pay $60 more a month when I was current on my mortgage and asking for a mod to lower my payment. So I sent in the appeal 2 days after the decision was made. I learned my lesson from the months of bs I went through. I called to verify they received it and was told they did. They even read word for word what I sent. Ok so I was settled. I called about 6 times, was always told no notes were posted. Here it is Feb 14, 2018, 3 months later and still all the bs. I was told today that they cannot see my appeal and that a supervisor would call me back.
I am furious!!! To say the least. So here it is 7 months later and they are still **. I wish I would have had a chance to not go with this mortgage provider. I have had nothing but ** and run around from them during the absolute worst time in my life. DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT choose this company because you will have nothing but aggravation and run around. The customer service is the worst I have ever ever encountered. STAY AWAY.

First and foremost I am a senior citizen. I have a FHA loan being serviced by Cenlar. Following hurricane Irma, they offered me a forbearance to help me through a difficult time. I specifically asked what would happen at the end of the 3 month forbearance and was told not to worry. It would be worked out and I would receive a letter explaining it. I did in fact receive a letter 2 and a half months later telling me I had a couple of choices, either file for foreclosure and give my house back, refinance and pay for the associated fees, or pay the balance of $4074.94 by the first of December, plus of course my December payment of $1365.94.
It took me two weeks after leaving numerous messages to get a callback then I was told I had to agree and give them permission to withdraw it from my account and I could not make the payment online. I paid the $4074.94 in 2 payments. $2709.64 Nov 16 and $1365.30 which they did not post until the full amount was paid. To add insult to injury I received on a average of 6 collection calls every day for the past 3 months. Cenlar is the most despicable company I have ever dealt with. What is wrong with this country when the Federal Trade Commission allows this to happen in the midst of a disaster. There should be a class action lawsuit filed against Cenlar.

Horrible service, no care for their customers! If you have a choice DO NOT choose this company for your mortgage needs. We have owned our house for 14 yrs and this company is the worst out of all that we have had. If we would have seen this company's reviews and done our research before we did our refinance we would not have done it. They are horrible and impossible to deal with. Please do not use them, you will be in for a headache. They make your life impossible and even after FEMA told us about hurricane help this company is NOT about helping you one bit or caring about you and your family. Worst company ever, just look at all the reviews. All one star and would probably be negative if it was possible.

I have Cenlar as the servicing agent for my FHA loan. They are horrible to deal with, rude and incompetent. After the hurricane hit my area, they put me on the forbearance program. I asked them multiple time how that program work and about repayment. They avoided my questions and gave me multiple answers, everything from it would be tacked on the end of the loan, small repayment arrangement would be made, etc. I specifically said I did not want to have to make 3 payments in full after the end of the 3 months and was told not to worry they wouldn't do that. Well they did do that.
I researched it and found out that HUD oversees Cenlar and I made a complaint there. So then I found out that they had to do a loan modification because I had a change in income. The loan modification has become a nightmare. They finally did approve the loan modification, however they didn't notify me that it was approved. I called on December 27, 2017 and was told that it was approved, at this time I asked when my new payment amount would be due and how much it would be, was told the amount but not when it would be due (because it was not in the system) and that I would receive a letter in 7-10 days with the new payment arrangements. Never got a letter, so I called again on January 11th and was told at that time that my new payment was due on 1/1/18 and that I missed it, but don't worry it was ok, (the terms of the loan modification states that I must make 3 months payments on time for the modification to become permanent).
So I called HUD who then in turn faxed me the letter of approval on the modification dated December 28th. (Mind you they are threating foreclosure). So I had to mail my payment to them on January 11th by certified mail. They received it on January 16, but did not process it for 14 days. Then turned around and sent me a letter saying I failed to make my payment on time. So I called them again and at this time I was told the payments were due on the 28th of the month and that I was not late. However the letter dated December 28th says that it's due on the 1st of this month. So frustrated with them. If you have them you should file a complaint with HUD just to document everything. Also send everything certified mail and keep a log of all phone calls and dealing with them, copies of letters back and forth to them, just in case you need it in court.

These folks have no manner to take action on what they are asked and promise to do. They absolutely have no care for their customers. I have send them a check on 1st of the month and they did not processed it until 16th of that month. I called them on 16th and told me they have not received any check. I paid it through ATM on 16th so to prevent paying penalty. Next day on 16th I called them again and they told me that they have received the check and have processed it on 16th. So I had paid two mortgages for one month and my bank account was overdrafted. I called and asked them to cancel one of the payment and send me a check. In two occasions they processed to send me a check which They said I will receive on 26th of the month. Today is 31st of the month and I have not received refund. The way these folks operate looks like more trouble ahead. The management obviously sucks.

I called about my payment not being posted because it had been over two weeks and the funds wasnt deducted from my checkings account. So after being on hold for two and half hours, I was finally I was connected to the collections department. Apparently if you're 15/30 days behind in your payment the system automatically forwards your call to this department. So, I explain my situation and the agent states they don't have any correspondence noted in my account about any payments being received or processed. I was informed to make the payment with that department and then they would transfer me to Customer Service to note the account for them not to process the lost/misplaced check.
Once transferred the service rep had a extremely strong accent and I couldn't really understand her. I asked to please be transferred to someone that I could better understand. She stated her system was down and she couldn't transfer me. I needed to call back. Mind you, I had been on this call for about 2 hours now and I'm totally pissed because my payment was sent 3 weeks before this call was placed and I'm being ping ponged between customer service reps. So after calling back and being on hold again for just about 2 hours once again in ping ponged between customer service reps again.
Finally, I'm connected with someone who I can understand and after for the third time explaining the situation she says "oh, I see the check; it's being processed". How is it that I speak to four different people and no one can see that the check is being processed? How is it that the agents whom work in the collections department can't see payments being processed in the system, but the customer service reps can see it in their system. Payments can be made over the phone with the collections department, but pending and or processed payment can't be seen by this same department! How is that even possible? The customer service really suck, this company is out to get any extra money it can get from the consumers. I wish I can change mortgage companies because this one suck big time.

I received a letter today in the mail from Cenlar as to my home loan. I called the number and waited on hold. An agent picked up and announced herself as Renee and that I was a unreferenced loan number. I asked who is Cenlar. Very rudely she replied it is my loan servicer. I should have hung up, but wanting to know why I am receiving a letter from them, I proceeded further. The agent was very rude in tone and condescending. I had not heard of this company and I simply wanted to know who they were.
Apparently my home loan was transferred three months earlier, I received no notice of a transfer, and I have continuously paid my loan to my previous mortgager. The info they had was correct, but instead of being helpful in letting me how to get in touch with the new company, she was again condescending in repeating the loan was transferred. The company it was transferred is called Lakeview? That is all I was provided. Whoever Lakeview is, I would like some form of notice and I strongly recommend that Cenlar is not used for your customer service, specifically Renee.

I'm a first-time home owner. My mortgage was bought by one company, then another, then Cenlar. By this point I was confused. I called Cenlar and tried to straighten it out. They said I didn't need to make payments for 3 months and that they gave me an automatic forbearance (which I didn't request). They said anytime a new lender buys your mortgage you're entitled to a 3 month forbearance. To add to the confusion another company, Amerihome, also said they were my new lender. Turns out that Cenlar owns Amerihome. Their website says that now, changed in the last couple months, but it didn't say that before. Both companies said my payment had to be sent to them.
At the end of 3 months Cenlar posted a notice on my door saying my payments were 3 months behind. I called Amerihome and they demanded 3 months payment or a short sale on my house. They said someone could meet with me in person to go over all this and I thought that would be good. Then a person from yet another company, a subcontractor I assume, called me and offered to go over my loan and explain. I simply went ahead and paid Amerihome the 3 months even though that was a drain for me. I'm sharing this story so others don't learn the hard way that Cenlar and its affiliates are disorganized and sneaky. They'll tell you that you have a forbearance when you don't. I can only assume that they make a profit from certain borrowers who get fogged and tricked.

CENLAR seems to be about 15 years behind in technology. Doing anything with CENLAR is never easy, whether it’s updating information, registering for an account, or getting help about your account. Why is this so hard CENLAR? Why can 99% of the other servicers do such a great job but you suck so horribly? Communication is horrible too. For example, I tried to log in to my account today and it said it does not exist. Funny, because you have no problem clearing my Mortgage payment automatically. Apparently, I need to re-register again - and no letter, or email or instruction on the landing page explaining the need to reregister. WHY do I need to re-register when I just signed up 3 months ago? New system? Cool, but how about you learn how to communicate that to your customers?
Anyway, I proceed to register again - and now it says my password doesn't meet the requirement. Excuse me? My password went above and beyond the requirements. Your logic is skewed, and should allow for multiple special characters, not just one of each. This is beyond stupid. A password like "Sunday12!" is accepted as meeting the criteria but a password of "Sunday_12!" is not? WTF? Ridiculous. And after filling out all the registration information, including creating a "weak" password, the system tells me "There has been an error. Click on the CHAT NOW button for assistance". Great, another roadblock, but talking to someone should help. But guess where the Chat Now link takes you? Here: https://service.loanadministration.com/.
The chat is not existent, and has a redirect to the link above. Guys - IT DOES NOT EXIST! If you removed it, SAY SOMETHING and fix your processes and verbiage on your site. Remove the links and references you have everywhere on your site. I cringed when my lender transferred the servicing to CENLAR. The worst part is that consumers have no say in who services their loans.

Cenlar personnel offered a three month deferment after our home flooded in hurricane Harvey, then demanded full payment at the end of those three months calling it “forbearance”. Then following that incident, it is extremely difficult to make phone contact, often requiring on hold times of an hour. In spite of verbal and written promises to contact me within 48 hrs, I am yet to receive a call back from anyone regarding any of the numerous issues I've had. Speaking with supervisors is useless, as I have tried that several times and at best, get empty promises of a follow up from higher ranked staff with more problem solving abilities. I hate to say it, but it's like continuous incompetence.

For 15 years, we have made semi monthly or weekly mortgage payments, until we chose to refinance with a local bank a few months ago. The local bank sold our mortgage to Cenlar and we proceeded to forward the first half of our electronic payment thru our bank prior to the due date with the 2nd half scheduled to pay prior to our due date. Note: they received this payment electronically and it has been deducted from our checking account. Now, over a week later, we receive a letter stating that our payment will be refunded and they cannot accept or will not accept short payments and that we should submit the full payment.

I decided to prepay my January mortgage payment in late December. after waiting 1/2 hour on the phone I sent them an email asking them to cancel my January draft as I had prepaid the mortgage amount. That night I get a message that they will respond to my concern within 24 hours. Nothing. Two days later I send them a reminder. Nothing. On January 4th I call them. After waiting 1/2 hour online I get through and some lady tells me she can't cancel it because they need three business days notice. I told her I contacted them December 27 and ask to speak to a supervisor. I speak to Kayla **. She refused to furnish her last name. And refused to do anything because according to her to change the draft it has to be submitted in writing and email is not sufficient.
I asked to speak to her supervisor and she told me that she was unable to transfer me or give me their phone number but that I could email them. LOL. I complained to the office of the comptroller. Unfortunately we cannot choose our loan servicer but I plan to bring this website to the attention of the VA loan administration. I suspect it is very easy for them to say that Cenlar cannot service VA loans. I suggest you people who have VA loans contact the VA and complain as well. I was in banking for twenty years and have owned several properties and have not had an experience like this yet. When people behave like this you have to start checking their figures too.

After Hurricane Irma we were able to get a forbearance for 90 days starting on Oct 1st 2017 and going thru Jan 1, 2018 where I would begin making my scheduled payments again. Initially we were told the repayments for the months of our forbearance would take place at the end of the loan. They tell us now we were mistakenly told when the payments would start but the payments actually start now. They want it ALL IN FULL NOW! Or we could repay over three months which means our payments would be double or face foreclosure proceedings!

Every customer representative tells me that they just don't see anything in my statement and there is no any fees or something and also they just can not answer my questions and cannot to transfer me to supervisor or manager. They promised me about 10-20 times that someone call me back and answer my question, but I'm still waiting for their calls more than year already... This company is terrible!!! I will not wish to even my worst enemy to have a deal with this company...

This company is really deceiving the public/veterans of VA loans!!! After hurricane Irma, we called for help. We got payments deferred for 3 months. Ended up paying one of the months anyways. We are farmers and veteran and after the hurricane and rain no work could be done for a long time. After telling us payments would be deferred no problem and we could set up and easy payment plan. When the time came this month, they told us we needed to pay 50% NOW only if you qualify or pay it in full...
HOW is this helping anyone and how on earth can someone afford $4k upfront after 3 months of no payments and no work??? DUE IN FULL? Really? Our other options were foreclosure, short sale or refinance? NONE of this was explained in the beginning. Someone please tell me how these companies get away with this? We were told we would have minimal payments or payments added to the end of the loan... Someone needs to make this right...and now our account shows late fees?
