I received a letter on 11/13/2015 from Flagstar Bank saying that my loan would be with CENLAR in New Jersey. I have called them on numerous occasions to get information on where to send my December payment, and they keep telling I am not yet in their system. Today, 12/15/2015 I finally get through and get a new loan number that is no good because it will not accept on their internet website. This total BS!

I was informed by Ocwen Mortgage that my loan was sold to Cenlar. I have nothing from the new company and have tried to call them to no avail (who has hours during the week to stay on hold?!!) I have no documentation from these people and after calling Ocwen they only gave me a P.O. box to send payments to. I have no way of verifying for sure if this sale was even completed, so I am not going to send money to an unknown P.O. Box (who does that?) I've received nothing from this company. I tried to set up an account with them online to pay that way and it will not let me create and account (says loan number and SS # don't go together). I tried to call and recording says long wait times again.
What am I supposed to do, just not pay? What has happened to the financial world in the United States? This is crazy. Sounds as if they WANT you to be late. Then you'll hear from them and they'll start racking up fees. I actually am prepared to move this loan and pay it off from my local credit union. But how will I EVER find out how to pay them off?!!!

I have been out of work for over 8 months and like most people with none to little income have fallen behind on my loan payments. I recently secured a good job and called Cenlar to pay 1 payment and they declined to take my money over the phone telling me that they needed at least 2 payments which obviously I did not have. The lady on the phone even had the nerve to tell me that 1 payment would not help me. Well after talking to several reps and supervisors I was told I would to pay more.
Fast forward a few days and I was able to come up with 3k. Called them and they declined to take my 3k since we are now in the month of December and my account has a lock on it. All I want to do is apply money to my account to help pay down the balance and not lose it and they refuse to help me. This company is a joke and their customer service is horrible. All responses are scripted and they are programmed to say sorry over and over. I am appalled and shocked they are still in business. I will be writing the governor of NJ and the Attorney General of NJ as well. I will also be moving away from this company as soon as possible.

We are selling our home and I called to ask if we could possibly not make our final month payment and have that put into the final close out amount. I was pleasantly informed that would be no problem and there would be no effect on our credit. Then I got a letter in the mail about a week later saying that my loan was late. I called and was told they are reporting it to my credit agency and that I need to make the payment now despite what my previous phone call had told me. They said that they would review the phone call but there was nothing they could do about it. I needed to make my payment no matter what. I find it absolutely unacceptable that I was given the wrong information by them and that they take no responsibility for that but blame it on me. I will never never never use this company again and hope others follow suit. They are not trustworthy.

My mortgage loan has been with Flagstar for 4+ years, and I've never had an issue with them, or them with me. Recently (11/13) got a notice that my loan is being transferred to Cenlar. On 16th I contacted Cenlar to try to get info on where to make Dec payment. Was told my loan was not in system, but that "Cenlar would mail me a packet." I asked how would they be able to mail me a packet, if I'm not even in the system, and was told that "they enter my personal info into the system first, and then the loan" -- which sounds pretty much like BS to me. I sent an email to their customer service re this conversation. Today is the 25th -- no answer to email, and no packet. Great start to what I'm sure will be an unpleasant relationship. I am going to complain to Flagstar about selling loans to known problematic companies. I respect their right to sell the loan -- but it's seems ethically wrong to deliberately sell it to a company with complaints a mile long.

My home mortgage was sold to CENLAR three years ago, shortly after I purchased my home. I have always been proactive and submitted all required tax/insurance documents 45 days in advance, as stated on their website. Every year CENLAR has been consistently late in paying our insurance premiums to the point of lapsing in coverage. This year, it appears they are going to be late again. It is very frustrating to deal with them. As a responsible consumer, I follow the guidelines established by CENLAR and in return I expect them to meet their obligations in a timely manner. Phone calls into their customer service leave me on hold waiting to speak to someone in excess of 30 minutes, email inquiries do not get responded to for 10+ days. When they do respond to the email, their responses never address the issues. This is totally unacceptable and should not be allowed. What leverage do I have to solve this problem?

Cenlar is the worst mortgage Administration company I have dealt with in my 55-year experience. They don't seem to address their problems. CENLAR has a message center which I have used twice. They send me a response saying message will be answered within 24 hours. 1st message 11 days old, 2nd message 2 days old - no answers. My situation is that I paid my loan off and then CENLAR took out an additional payment through auto payment although I had sent them a fax to stop it. In addition, I was told by their representative that withdrawals stop automatically when loan is paid off.
I can't get anyone at CENLAR to tell me when a check for the overpayment will be sent to me. I have made 5 calls, no one can give me an answer except that I'll receive a paper check. Their payoff instructions to me says that I should cancel my withdrawal 14 days before the next withdrawal. I didn't receive this instruction until after the loan was paid. Another question to them was why can't I pay the loan off via their internet pay site as they already have my acct and routing numbers and they stated it is a legal requirement for me to make a wire transfer (an additional fee). I have paid off other mortgages using the online system with no problems.

I have been trying to speak to someone at CENLAR Central Loan administration for over 2 weeks now. Every time I call they have a problem with their system or they don't have access to the documents that I faxed them. I have been on hold for over an hour waiting for a supervisor to take my call. They have listed in their computer system that my escrow is short when I am proving to them it is not. Someone is either embezzling or stealing. Math is very simple if my taxes are 1200 dollars a year I should be paying 100 dollars a month not 180.00 dollars towards my tax portion. Very poor service. If your mortgage is sold to this company be very weary.

Like many of your posts my loan was sold from Sun West to Cenlar earlier this year. Every year in the past that I was with Sun West I would receive a check for overpayment into the Escrow account set aside for property tax etc. This year I noticed our property taxes decreased by $40 and I also purchased insurance through Erie resulting in annual savings. My question is why instead of my usual $300-ish reimbursement check I received a bill for $33.00. Who can we report these predators to?

My loan was sold to this company. And when trying to make my first payment they tried to process the payment out of my savings and not checking (even though it was clearly marked "checking"), which caused a non-sufficient funds charge by my bank twice ($20 each). And then they charged me a NSF fee of $20 as well. I will say they did credit me the fee after two long phone calls and having to speak to a supervisor. But I shouldn't have to jump through hoops to justify an electronic issue between them and the bank. They want to blame the bank and the bank wants to blame them. I don't care whose fault it was, I'm not the party responsible and therefore, should not be paying the fees. I wish we had a choice in who Academy Mortgage sells their loans to... This company is absolutely horrible!! I think I'll start shopping around for another lender.

Cenlar bought our loan from Sun West Mortgage. I have had nothing, but problems since moving to Cenlar. Just like all the other complaints, you can't talk to anyone! They have not paid my escrow for the year, as of today as a matter of fact! If you are having issues getting escrow paid, contact your insurance agent. They should be able to help you get it resolved. I had to do that today and have been told a check is being processed. I will continue to monitor the account. These people have the worst customer service reps I have ever spoke to! Wish I could take my loan to another company! !

I got an offer from Cenlar to refinance my loan through Quicken. I had to create a new escrow account and fund that. Then, Cenlar was supposed to refund my original escrow account, over $2,300 within two weeks of closing. It is now two months past closing and I still don't have my escrow money back. I have called seven times and EACH AND EVERY TIME, I am told another lie. The check's in the mail, the check was "missed", the check is missing, and on and on and on.
The last whopper was that they realized that the check was not sent and that they would overnight it to me, and that it would be sent on Tuesday. It is now Thursday and no check. So, I called again and was told that the last rep was mistaken and that they can't send a check until they stop the other one and wait "a certain amount of time". How long? Nobody knows. And now, over 15 minutes on hold and nothing is happening yet again. Everybody at this horrible and shady company tells you just what you want to hear and then does nothing. If you are refinancing, you should INSIST that Cenlar is not involved or you will be in danger of losing, literally, thousands of dollars.

I FEEL SORRY FOR ANYONE HAVING TO DEAL WITH CENLAR. In mid July 2015 my mortgage was sold to Cenlar from Pacific Union. With Pacific Union I had bi-wkly payments automatically deducted from my bank & always 1 month ahead. 1st call (July) of many to Cenlar I was advised to send 1/2 payment to make Aug mort. satisfied (I immediately did). Early Aug I sent Sept mort. in full & early Sept I sent Oct mort. in full. Cenlar tells me the Sept payment was sent back to me "how/when" I never received a check & the $ was not credited back into my account. Cenlar then sent me 9 loan statements for Oct (stating it's not paid).
Apparently, Cenlar put the $ in suspense & escrow. After 22 conversations with csr & suvp I informed them I would drive to their NJ location to review the computer, sit with a suvp & bring all my documentation. This has been the worst experience of my 40 years. Every week they are calling saying the mort is late. How can it be late when I send the payment early? Cenlar need to be closed down and consumers need to be compensated for the amount of stress this co. causes. PLEASE STAY FAR FAR FAR AWAY FROM CENLAR!

September of this year we received notice Insurance was due. We sent them insurance bill. They paid it from our escrow account. A few days later we received another notice saying they need insurance evidence of last year. If we don't have it they will buy insurance for last year cost $1265. I checked with title company. They said the premium was returned undelivered last year. No one ever give us notices until now. The problem is we are unable to purchase the insurance for past year. It is over. Cenlar does not properly train their staff. My husband and I have called SEVEN times in the last week with a single question about our loan. We were given several different responses from different staff members. We were promised that the issue was resolved - only to find out via a statement that we were being charged for the unresolved issue. We were disconnected several times and were never called back. When we asked to speak to management, management assured us they would call us back the next day with a resolution. We never received a call back. Just terrible. We are going through the headache of refinancing to get away from Cenlar.

My original mortgage was thru E1 Financial which was purchased by NuVision FCU. That was the beginning of my nightmare. Now I'm told there is a Cenlar involved with my mortgage. No one told me nor notified me of the change!!! After horrific years of dealing with these entities I requested a payoff quote to enable me to refi out of this non ending nightmare. I received a payoff quote of $70K+ more than my original loan in 2007 though payments have been made. It is a fixed rate with principal & interest being paid. Per their instructions on the 2nd page of the quote I called & requested the itemization on how they arrived at that balance. They will not give me one; on my 3rd phone request they told me they have to review. How in the hell did they come up with the quote they sent me if they had done the math to provide the payoff!!!!
I'm viewing this as a delay tactic since due to their actions or lack of I filed for BK 13. Now they want to foreclose by 10/12/15 if I do not pay them over $31,000. After years of suffering with them I'm trying to refi even if I have to pay higher interest.
It is illegal not to provide me or any consumer the correct payoff balance when requested. I've requested it many times over the a many months & have been ignored. The request in August 2015 was sent via certified mail & know it was received. Finally I asked the attorney to request it & received that inflated incorrect quote. This cost me money in having an attorney request it. There are so many more issues that I could cite. This company needs to be put out of business after a class action lawsuit.

Cenlar is the WORSE bank ever. They should not be called a bank, they should even be able to deal with peoples money/mortgages etc. Either they have the most incompetent people working there or they are on purpose trying to piss off every customer who was unlucky enough to be bought out by them. We re-financed our home and Cenlar bought off the mortgage, unlucky for us. The agreement of our mortgage was that we will pay our taxes to the bank and the bank will pay our taxes to the county twice a year. We have done this before and it was never an issue. Again it was never Cenlar.
Now the rates are even lower, so we decided to re-fi. Little do we know that Cenlar has failed to pay our taxes and they have penalties accumulating from April. They never notified us, or called us to inform us that they had an issue with locating my tax form or anything else. It's been 2.5 weeks and about a dozen phone calls with hours of hold time, and they can't get their ** together to pay my taxes. They requested that we send them the most recent bill with all the penalties and they would take care of it with 48 hrs, and of course would take on all the penalties. Well when we sent them the updates statement, they paid the wrong amount. Now I can't re-fi and leave this Bank, because they can't pay what they owe to my county. If anyone has a choice NEVER NEVER EVER go with Cenlar. They have the most incompetent, unorganized, unaccommodating people working for them with the most ridiculous guidelines.

I got a robo call that quickly told me to call Cenlar at a phone number. It went by too quickly for me to understand so I had to look up the number on the Internet. There was also no explanation of why I had to call them. (I believe they have been trying to call me for a while but I never heard anything even after saying "hello" multiple times.)
I get through to a customer service rep (Derek) who tells me that they never received my first payment, I need to call my bank. I tell him it was sent electronically from my bank almost a month ago according to my banks site. He asked me to get my bank to fax him a confirmation. I call my bank who says all they can do is send them an electronic trace number, which they gave to me. I called Derek back and left a message with the electronic trace number. We'll see if this works. Processing payments is their business. According to Derek, I sent my payment to the right address and that they should have been able to match it up. Ten phone calls later since 8/21/2015 to 9/23 they still have not found the check. It really stinks I got stuck with Cenlar once the mortgage company I initially financed with sold off my mortgage to them - because they were awful. My ex-husband and I had purchased the house together a few years back. When it came time to splitting up our assets, I was to remain with the house, which meant I had to refinance with another company in just my name (thank goodness).
Here's the thing though… To keep things fair, I called Cenlar, asking if they could split our escrow check evenly, mail my half to me and his half to his new address. They told me that was not possible, that the full amount had to have the mortgage's address on the check and made out to both people on the mortgage. After explaining my situation, the one representative I spoke with told me that if I faxed over my divorce decree, stating that I'd get the house, that they'd mail the check in my name and I could do with the check as I pleased. So I was going to write a check to him for his half to avoid any confrontation.
Well I got a text from my ex about a month after the house had been refinanced in just my name and the check was mailed to his new address! How is that even possible when I heard from multiple support reps via phone conversations and through email that the full amount had to go to the address that was on the mortgage? So I was legitimately pissed off that everything they told me didn't hold true.
I followed up with a phone call to see where the confusion came into play, where I sat on hold for a half hour and couldn't wait any longer, so I emailed them. I didn't hear back for almost a month from my email - after I had sent a few follow up emails as well. They had no answers for me as to why that happened. If I was still residing in the house, there is no reason the check should've been mailed elsewhere. What it comes down to is their staff has no idea what they're doing and are not adequately trained. Do everything you can to avoid this company!

Caller on the sixth day requesting my paperwork, I wasn't on the system yet. Rep tells me it should take a week. Call a week later, another rep tells me I'm not on the system yet, and I'm still getting phone calls requesting my payment. Talk with the first supervisor, (total animal) he then tells me it should of been done by the 7th day of the month. When I asked bout the week after, he didn't know why I was told that. And I still wasn't on the system. I was it another 3 days call the second supervisor, send him paperwork he requested, he said he would call back. I'm still still waiting on that phone call.... And they advertise 24 hr response it's b.s.
I escalated the situation, requested to speak with a manager. They wouldn't let me speak with one, so the third supervisor and I got into a heated conversation, point of that was, that HE guaranteed my paperwork arrival in a week (now it Been 2 weeks). A week came and went and nothing. I called to confront the guy, they denied he works there.. Longer story short, after me doing all the calling requesting my paperwork, and talking to a "manager" (very rude, hung up on me) and she's telling me she's gonna email it. A day later, because she had to PRINT IT OUT and then email it to me.... How does that make sense? I thought it was attach to email and hit send? Long story short, they lost 3 of my payments. I see the payments coming out of my account on my bank's statement. They then prevented me from making additional payments by not accepting the payments through my bank. They sent my loan to a foreclosure attorney. I spoke with the attorney's office and what Cenlar would offer me--a "Streamlined Refinance" opportunity to get things back on track. I knew I'd never get the money for the three payments back, but figured I'd take that loss to get thing straightened out.
I was told I'd receive the streamline refinance offer letter in mail, it never came. I called back and was told the same thing again, it never came. I called back a third time and was told the same thing. I asked if they could email me the offer letter, they said they don't use email. But, they faxed it to me. Fax of all things is their technology of choice.
The offer states that if I make three payments they'll send me another "package" including an offer to finalize the refinance. It seems their end goal is to raise interest rates because I was told by a Cenlar representative that my interest rate would "go down if anything" if I accepted their "streamlined refinance" offer. He pressured me to accept their offer without having the paperwork in front of me. Evidently, they have a process where they record a verbal agreement over the phone. Luckily, I didn't do that and insisted on seeing the offer letter because they are attempting to raise my interest rates dramatically from a 3.25% 15-year mortgage to 4.125% 40-year mortgage. It seems the monthly payment amount would remain the same, but would obligate me to pay it for an additional 25 years. Beware of this company, they seem quite devious to me.

We refinanced our home last July (2014). We discovered 60 days later that our mortgage was sold to Cenlar. There was no phone call. Only a piece of mail 60 days after closing stating our new loan number and where payments should be sent. Due to income issues, we are in the process of selling our home. We are a military family stationed in a different state from our house. We fell behind 2 payments. Our tenants move out and our realtor informed us that the lender came and winterized our home. (Again we are in the process of selling.) How can they winterize our home without giving us proper notice?
We spoke to the 3rd party company who winterized the home and were told they could not dewinterize unless Cenlar told them to do so. Yet there is no record of Cenlar commissioning the winterizing of our home. We attempted to contact local plumbers to go out and dewinterize, however they won't touch it due to liability issues.
We are currently in contract to sell the house but are obligated to have the house ready for inspection within 10 days of mutual acceptance. How can my buyers properly inspect while the house is winterized and I can't get Cenlar to send this company back out to undo what they've done??? The tactics they use plus poor customer service should have them in hot water with the federal government. My husband has been serving this country for over 20 yrs and the repayment for this selfless duty is that we may lose our home?! Unbelievable! If I had known what I know now, I would have refinanced to get away from this lender!!!

Everything I read on Cenlar in ConsumerAffairs is true. They forced flood insurance on me and it raised my mortgage $200.00+ within a year of selling to Nationstar also going in and taking my escrow money. They are nasty on the phone, seems like the calls are outsourced to another country. With that I'm on a fixed income. In 30 yrs of being a homeowner I've never missed a payment. I'm in the transition to Nationstar. I did send Cenlar county documents stating that I am not in a flood zone. They will not refund my money. They are nasty on the phone and just for my own satisfaction I had my homeowners ins company call while I sat and listened and they consistently lied to them. My question is why is there not a class act lawsuit or investigation yet or do they get to take all us customers money and no one to help or stop them.

The only thing CENLAR's Representative would ask me for, my bank routing & account # but could not tell me how much she was going to deduct from my account. I wrote to Gregory Tornquist, he never responded, but the company Lawyer did. In review of all the complaints, this is how I am beating CENLAR at their own game.
2.) It is always sent to: 7 Graphics Drive, Ewing, NJ 08628, no matter what type of payment.

They site the respa rules for their decision to do such activity. When I spoke to someone on the phone, they said I would receive the current balance which has been chipped away to a lower balance. I made the March payment online on 3/16/15 and received "Payment Successfully submitted for Transmission". When I went in to make the April payment I noticed I owed two payments. I looked at the payment activity saw where the payment was reversed on 3/19. I immediately called Cenlar and was told the payment was reversed because the account information sent to the Bank was wrong. I asked them what account number they forwarded to the bank. The CSR told me I had to send a letter to their Research Department, which I did, along with the receipt and documents showing the last four digits of my bank account. No word. I finally called again and they told me they contacted the bank and the bank said the wrong account number was sent to them. OK, I asked again what account number did they send to the bank. They have yet to tell me.
I asked to speak to someone in their Research Department and was told, “Oh Research doesn't make or take calls”. So now, what was once an 800 Equifax score is 684 with their last reporting on April 2015 and shows the last payment made as Feb. 2015. I have send learned Cenlar sold my Mortgage to Nationstar. I made the June payment; they took it out of my bank account and never posted the payment. So, now my Mortgage goes to Nationstar with me owing the June payment. I called Cenlar back and was told they mailed Nationstar the check. I do have the FedEx routing number and it is there but Nationstar hasn't posted it yet. So now it shows I'm a month behind with Nationstar. Nationstar has assured nothing will be reported for 2 months. They said it takes 30 days to post the payment. I still haven't figured that out since the check was received in their Dallas office. However, my issue is with Cenlar.
Now I'm having to write three dispute letters to all three major credit reporting companies trying to get the negative report of a missed payment off. Why is it Cenlar can't take the tracking number when the payment was made and tell me what number they forwarded to the bank for payment? Why can't anyone from their Research department call me back. Why did they not post my June payment but took it out of my checking account. Very terrible banking practices. Why can someone make a data entry error on someone account and it's up to the consumer to fix it? This is unreal.

So much has happened I can't even begin to remember it all from them saying they have no record of me calling. Even though I have documented, they said I was wrong, to raising my payment due to an increase in homeowners insurance (which being on a fixed income caused me to fall behind) when in fact, my homeowners insurance decreased by over 500 and I have been paying 41.73 too much for 4 months. I asked that I be credited so that I can bring my account current and they said no. I asked what was going to happen to the $125.19 I overpaid, they said they didn't know. I was then told there was nothing to be done about it since my payments were already made. I said yes, but they were overpaid and I want my money to be credited to my July payment so that I can bring my account current. I was told that could not be done and they didn't know what they were going to do with the money. It's my money? They have overcharged me.
I am hysterical at this point. I have talked to well over 10 people over the past 2 months and nothing has been resolved. They said maybe they would be able to process this and that my new payment would take effect for July but if not, then I still owed the amount of $490.58, which has been wrong since the beginning when they sent me a new coupon book showing my payments went up $41.73 instead of down by approx. $20. That's all I can write about my experience right now. I am a single woman on a fixed income who has been in her home for almost 30 years and am close to the payoff. I didn't choose Cenlar, they bought out my bank. For a whole year when that happened I was bounced around from company to company with no one knowing who held my mortgage.

We closed on a home loan in September 2013 and as first time home buyers were ecstatic. A few weeks after closing we received a letter from Cenlar notifying us that our loan had been sold to them. I Googled Cenlar and came across bad reviews but thought "I'm just paying another bill, what can go wrong?"
Fast forward to December 2014 when I began having some financial difficulty due to a pay cut. I entered into a forbearance/repayment plan (them name differed depending on the person I spoke with) in order to catch up on my payments. I began making the scheduled payments on the repayment plan in March 2015 and in late May/early June of 2015 I spoke with a representative at Cenlar who informed me that they had never received the consent form from me and that my repayment plan would be cancelled effective June 1. I informed the representative that said form had been mailed and if they lost it I was sorry but not responsible for their error and if they mailed another copy I would be happy to send it back.
I made the repayment for June assuming that it was the last payment on the repayment plan and then on June 30 I received a sizable check from Cenlar with a letter saying that the amount was returned to me because they cannot accept partial payments. (!!!!) Long story short(er) it took an hour of being on hold and speaking with two different representatives for them to figure out why the check was mailed to me and to schedule a payment for me to pay back the check that was sent. Moral of this story is that if you have the misfortune of having your loan sold to Cenlar refinance it with anybody else. Hell, I'm ready to sell the damn house at this point just to not have to do business with them.

Our loan was purchased by CENLAR shortly after we completed a refinance on our home. We did not receive any notification of CENLAR's as the new mortgage holder until we received a notice of being in default. Our first scheduled mortgage payment was sent to the company and loan number we had signed with. After receiving the default notice, we reviewed our banking information to see who cashed the check. Lo and behold the name on the back of the check was CENLAR. Although they cashed the check, they didn't apply it to the proper loan for our property. This happened twice. The second mortgage payment was returned, but not for an entire month. We received a notice that we were delinquent for two payments. We contacted them on several occasions to rectify the situation.
During one phone call conversation, a representative advised my wife that they were charging us a fee for sending someone out to the house to verify whether we had vacated the property. After I called to inquire into such a fee, the Research department informed me that they did not send anyone out and their information did not show any such fee. My wife had made a payment for the additional cost before I spoke to the Research department. We have had nothing but issues since the assumption of our loan with CENLAR. I've own four homes over a span of 20 plus years and have never been late on any property.
Granted we had the wrong loan number for two months, only because we were not informed until we were advised that we were delinquent, that CENLAR was the new mortgage owners. CENLAR found the initial payment, but now I have to wait approximately 48 hours before it can be applied to my property. I'm in the process of refinancing with another mortgage lender now, do not want any further dealings with CENLAR!!!

My mortgage was purchased by them in March 2015, and it took them nearly 45 days (they claim) just to get the mortgage information installed on their computers. I made a payment with a representative in early April and another one before May 1st. Both times the representatives gave me the mortgage loan number listed on their computers, took my information and authorization to process the payments. What do the morons do? They send me a bill for 2 MONTHS PAST DUE. When I phoned them and informed them of the payments, they claimed to have no record and also claimed I could not have made payments in April because their computer information was only posted on May 2nd. (Their representatives were sure happy to take those payments AND VERIFY MY LOAN NUMBER when I called both times in April.)
Then, they then told me that the payment verification codes given me by their representatives were not codes Cenlar used. If the payment verification codes were not Cenlar codes, why did their representatives tell me they were? Also, when I attempt to make a payment, their system wants me to (again) RE ENTER THE BANK ROUTING AND CHECKING ACCOUNT INFORMATION! They already took that information over the phone and by computer four times already! What are they doing with it?
This company also does not have contact points convenient for their customers. They want to use telephone conversations with representatives that conveniently give phony verification codes and do not record the information and payment schedules given them. (Which has happened three times already.) So far, this company has the WORST customer service of any I have ever dealt with (in just 3 months). What kind of future customer service can I look forward to? Is there a government oversight entity I can complain to and maybe get some scrutiny into their inept, clumsy system?

Note: We are selling the property and can't close until we have these and until CENLAR files with the County. I have been on hold for HOURS literally! My ex-wife and her husband lived in a property that she insisted I pay for. I refused and sought a court order to remove them from the property, which was granted. The two lived there for free for two months. Once I gained control of the property, I resumed paying the mortgage. I contacted CENLAR prior to this all happening to advise them of the situation and of the pending court action. Meanwhile, I requested and received the loan modification packet. She and I filled out our portions, which also included a quitclaim by her, not only for this property, but a second property also covered by CENLAR. I mailed all the documents asked of me and then the nightmare began.
Someone from CENLAR would mail me a letter stating additional documents were needed and I would send those documents. When a couple of those documents "Needed her signature" I called CENLAR and an employee told me, since my ex-wife no longer cooperated, then draft a letter to that effect. I did, which must have sufficed, because I was not asked for those documents again. Fast forward: After all the letters I sent in lieu of her "signatures", I called to check the status of the modification and was told my modification packet was not complete. Please keep in mind, this was after I received a letter stating YOUR PACKET IS COMPLETE AND NO FURTHER DOCUMENTS ARE NEEDED! Now, "The underwriter" needs a copy a my driver's license and "HERS!"
The problem I have with the whole process, WHOEVER RECEIVES AND REVIEWS THE PACKETS "PRIOR TO" THE MODIFICATION PACKET BEING SENT TO THE UNDERWRITER, WELL, SHOULDN'T THAT PERSON HAVE A CLUE WHAT ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS ARE NEEDED? Apparently not, because whoever reviews the documents must not be able to find their butt with both hands! I was told to send in Quitclaims for both of my properties to show that my ex-wife wanted nothing to do with the properties, which I did. Then I received a letter from CENLAR stating the Quitclaim deeds had been received. Next, I received a letter from cenlar stating the quitclaim deeds had to be recorded! I fired back stating, not one cenlar employee I spoke with stated that the deeds had to be recorded, nor did cenlar's documents of what was needed showed the deeds had to be recorded! I was not asked for the deeds again.
Now, a CENLAR employee has found another way to delay the modification by asking for my ID and my ex-wife's ID. When I called to ask t speak with the person handling the modification, all persons answering the phone say "EVEN THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED TO SPEAK WITH THE UNDERWRITER!" I am drafting a complaint to CENLAR, the Federal Trade Commission, the Inspector General and members of the Senate and House of Representatives. There is NO WAY and retired Law Enforcement Officer and Veteran of the United States Marine Corps who has ALWAYS paid his bills, should be treated like dirt! The mortgage is behind two payments and I get the threats of foreclosure and all kinds of crap!
I told the employees I spoke with that the property is upside down by $55,000 and was destroyed internally by my Ex and her husband. I am back in the property trying to make repairs. If need be, I will stop and they can have the house and sell it for whatever they can get for it. I am always told, "You don't want to do that." I say own up to the three options: 1) Tell me you are not going to work with me, 2) Tell me that what's owed will be broken down and divided over the next few months until the loan is current or 3) Put what's owed on the tail-end of the loan and lets move forward. What makes no sense is depending on who I speak with by phone telling me one thing and then the next telling me something different and not a single person knowing anything about my situation. "THE UNDERWRITER KNOWS AND I'M TOLD THERE IS NO WAY I WILL GET THROUGH TO WHOEVER THAT IS! "

I also made my April payment when it was due. A few days after making my 2nd payment, I received a letter from them stating that I had missed BOTH payments!!!

What a backwards organization. Instead of solving my problem, this "supervisor" who sounded like he was 20 years old, kept denying me of my claim and now his company will lose a $330,000 loan. I wish I could sell short their stock - but I doubt they have gotten that far in their business cycle. Pure scoundrels.

I was on hold forever, and once I finally got someone, the person on the phone did not fix the problem. I have faxed them and written them and reasoned with them. Now I have overdue taxes and penalties. I have complained to everyone I can think of, and short of suing them (I am an attorney). I can't find another recourse. He said, "Don't worry about it, we will send you all the documentation and you will have 60 days to make the payment for March and April." Sounds fine to me, so we wait and get the documentation on the 24th.
We send the payment for March on the 26th, and I got a call from the collections department on the 27th asking where our March payment was. Seriously?! I told her that the documentation they sent us told us we had 60 days to make the payment and her response was that was only because that was what the law is, but they want payment. I told her she has to give me at least a week to make a payment before they call us for collection and that the payment is already on its way. She started to ask for details about when the payment was sent and I hung up on her. This is not a great start to this relationship. Now I read all the reviews and I have a sinking feeling...

They have lied in court, lied to US office of comptroller of currency, which is the federal agency that regulates them. They have lied to the state insurance commissioner office. The list goes on. CENLAR appears to be "above the law" due to powerful people in control of company and its entanglement with the government because of Fannie Mac.
If you are experiencing trouble like thousands of others file complaints with every state and federal agency you can to document the issues. Mind you I called them to let them know that I would be about week late and I was told "All is OK. Just get it in by November 7"... which I did. The people came to our door saying they were there "per Cenlar" to lock up the house. I immediately called Cenlar and I was told because the house is vacant and they are preventing squatters. My loan was transferred from Ocwen Loan Servicing to Cenlar FSB aka Central Loan Administration & Reporting effective 10/01/14... what a nightmare since. Ocwen has had its share of problems with $2 billion in principal loan reduction and $125 million in fines ordered under its 2/14/14 Consent Judgment in District Court. It's only a matter of time before Cenlar follows in its footsteps. I see now after reading the Consent Judgment, why I was able to get reasonable good customer service from Ocwen... they stipulated to it under the Consent Order. Cenlar hasn't paid the piper for its incompetence and horrible loan servicing yet, so they still provide sub-par at best customer service.
Ocwen offered me a loan modification I timely accepted. Cenlar acquired the loan and claimed they had no knowledge or record of a pending loan modification. I faxed and overnight-ed the loan modification agreement to Cenlar multiple times on different days. They can't find it, they are unaware of it, I need to wait 48 hours for their systems to update. I've heard it all. Of course, that's assuming I was lucky enough to speak to a person. On most days when I call Cenlar, I get a recorded loop that due to the high volume of calls received, they are unable to take my call.
I submitted a Qualified Written Request ("QWR") to Cenlar requesting they update the terms of my loan to reflect the binding loan modification agreement I entered into with Ocwen. This reduced my annual interest rate from 5% to 2.35%. By statute, Cenlar must acknowledge receipt of the QWR within 5 business days and fully respond within 30 business days. Cenlar is 16 days past the deadline for acknowledging receipt and I seriously doubt it will respond by the 12/10/14 deadline. In fact, I expect around 12/10/14 I will receive an acknowledgement of receipt backdated to 11/03/14. That seems to be Cenlar's style. Each piece of correspondence I have received from them arrives about 2 weeks after the date written on it. Are we to really believe the U.S. Postal Service is so incompetent?
In any event, I spoke with Cenlar 3 days ago and got a person to promise my account would get to the right people and be updated within 48 hours. It hasn't been. I filed a complaint against Cenlar with the Office of Comptroller Currency ("OCC"), the government agency who oversees them. The OCC has acknowledged it has forwarded my complaint to Cenlar and they must respond.
I submitted a QWR to Ocwen as well as they must respond by law up to 1 year after transferring a loan. I requested Ocwen provide me with all evidence it submitted my loan modification documents to Cenlar as required under the Consent Order. I also filed a complaint against Ocwen with the Consumer Board of Financial Protection. I cannot get a knowledgeable person from either Cenlar or Ocwen to speak with me on the phone so they left me with no resort but to file these Complaints. Cenlar returned my mortgage payment that was due under the loan modification, stating it was less than the full payment amount. Each month my account is not updated, I pay the 5% interest versus the 2.35% interest, an additional $507 over what my payment should be. I have to pay the full payment, otherwise Cenlar won't accept it and it would just proceed to foreclosure.
Cenlar stinks. Their President is a member of some of the top mortgage organizations but clearly cannot manage this business. Perhaps he inherited a nightmare. I think the company should be shut down.

I didn't wait for the coupons and sent a check via my online banking with the account number that I was given. When the check wasn't cashed 1 week later, I inquired by calling Cenlar and they said that they have no record of my account number or name in their system. I called the prior loan servicer Skyline who said that they will look into it and call me back (who never called me back to update me on what was going on). I inquired about my check and they said that they had not received it, and that I should cancel it and send a new one to a new address instead of NJ to CA. That night, I receive a call from their collections agency stating that I am delinquent on my loan, and my loan has been sent to their collections department. The next day, I call my bank to put a stop on my check (as recommended by Cenlar) and coincidentally during the end of my conversation with my bank, I get a call on the other line by Cenlar stating that they found my check and are processing it. Our loan was sold to Cenlar and in Feb 2014, we had a water leak and sustained considerable damage. From Feb til July, we did all the right things - getting the damage appraised by our homeowners insurance company, getting the work done, etc. The insurance company sent us two large checks to cover the cost of repairs. The checks were made out to my husband and I, as well as to Cenlar - which apparently is due to some type of regulation to prevent insurance fraud. The work is now completed and we were required to send in a fair amount of paperwork to Cenlar showing the charges, what has been paid, as well as what was still owed to the contractor and ourselves since we paid for a large portion from our personal finances.
It has taken over 3 months to satisfy them on the paperwork, because every time I called, I would get a different rep who would tell me I was missing something, when it was already there, or had been taken care of earlier. About a month ago, I got a rep who said I had to now send the checks to Cenlar. They deposit them in an escrow account and cut NEW checks for the amounts due to my contractor and due to us. I did this and after waiting two weeks with no checks being sent back to us - I called them today. They are sending the original checks BACK to us because my husband's signature didn't "look" right! The rep I spoke to today said it looked fine to her when comparing it to his signature on another document! This is absolutely crazy because what is my husband to do? Make his signature look different?
And, it makes no sense because Cenlar has to endorse them as well, then they put the checks in their escrow account and make out NEW checks specifically to us and the contractor! They have our bills for the work, receipts for what has and has not been paid and our names and personal info so that we and the contractor are the only ones who can deposit those checks! I went online to check up about this company because I am feeling like there is some monkey-business going on and have been greatly alarmed by what I am reading about them. I have read complaints about how they put these checks from the homeowners insurance company into an escrow account and hold them for a couple of months in order to collect the interest. We were told that if we keep calling that our paperwork would be pushed to the bottom of the pile (Threat #1). My wife and I recorded this call since all we heard about this company prior to calling was they were going to say something along those lines. Cenlar transferred us around the entire company before actually being able to speak to a manager or supervisor and they even told us to stop calling and that it would take 30-45 days (Threat #2). If we kept calling, we were also told that it would take longer (another threat).
Cenlar is the biggest scam servicer out there and have cost my wife and I $1800 in rate lock extensions. If it was not for Matthew ** getting all of those fees waived, we would have gone elsewhere. Kudos to you, Matt **, if you ever read this!!! Cenlar, you suck and I hope you go into bankruptcy you pieces of garbage. Long story short, hopefully your loan never gets sent to this dump of a company for servicing your mortgage and if it does I suggest you record every one of your conversations and have a good attorney on hand. We plan on suing them once the process is complete. We have all of the managers' names and direct extensions so beware and we will be coming for you, legally of course.

My mortgage was switched from Aurora to CENLAR. In May 2013, a city-owned tree fell on my home. I immediately contacted my insurance company who swiftly issued a check endorsed to me and CENLAR. Due to a few months of late payments, CENLAR indicated that they needed to allocate the funds for the repairs. Although, at the time the check was issued, my mortgage payments were up to date. So I signed the check and sent it to CENLAR as instructed. I was not concerned on handling the funds, I just wanted the repairs made.
It is a year later and repairs has not been completed due to CENLAR failure to process my claims. My home needed roof repairs, an electrical conduit restored and masonry work on steps and railings. While I choose to have three different contractors make the repairs, I had to submit separate claims. I still had no concerns regarding submitting the separate claims.
The problem I have with CENLAR is the consistent misinformation provided by this company. First, I was told that since my payment was up to date, I can deposit the check to allocate funds myself...NOT TRUE. Secondly, each time I submitted my claim, it took months to process. Not days or weeks, but months to process a claim. Lastly, if you do not call and keep up with them on the status, they will not lift a finger until it is brought to their attention. CENLAR is by far the worst company to deal with and I pray the day when I can get my mortgage away from them.

Six years ago my husband and I were forced to move out of state due to job situations. We secured a land contract for the home we left behind. A year and a half ago our mortgage was sold to Cenlar. A couple of months later our land contract fell through. As soon as we found out, we notified Cenlar and secured a realtor to do a quick short sale. The realtor showed the house more than fifty times and received 3 offers that were HIGHER than the amount that the Cenlar appraiser had valued the property. Cenlar refused the offers because they were lower than the realtor's list price. We completed 3 packets of paperwork to do a short-sale or deed-in-lieu-of-foreclosure.
Every time we called to check on our loan status, we were told something different by each person we talked to (even within the space of 20 min)! It seems as if there is NO communication between their departments. The woman handling our account was ALWAYS gone home for the day or unavailable until I asked how to file a complaint. She called us the same day and then proceeded to tell us that our paperwork had just been processed (how convenient). Of course, two weeks later we were told to fill out all new paperwork because parts of the packet were then expired. We have been running around in circles for 1 1/2 years now, trying to do the right thing with this property.
Our credit is trashed, I have a file folder 4 inches thick of paperwork, and we are tired of trying to make progress with this frustratingly incompetent company. At this point I think we're going to have to just let the property go onto foreclosure just so we can be done with the emotional and mental stress this company has caused my husband and I. Every time we try to complete paperwork, it just prolongs the journey to nowhere. If you ever have an option, DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY! We didn't have a choice, but hopefully this review will help people do that.

I am in foreclose because I became disabled 22 months ago and have not been approved for Social Security yet. I have a Freddie Mac loan. I called Cenlar before I became late on my payments to see what could be worked out so that I would be able to afford my payments. I wanted to pay the interest and escrow amounts, but the customer service person told me that she could not transfer me to the "loan workout department" because I wasn't yet late on my payments. She told me to call back after I got behind. They did not tell me about the HAMP program which they are required to do, just by their acceptance of a Freddie Mac loan. Now that I'm late I am not eligible for that program. I wanted to pay interest and escrow until I could get back on my feet, however everyone that I have been able to talk to are not able to negotiate anything. They demand full payment only and will reject any lesser payments.
Three months ago, I finally applied for general assistance and I qualified for a $198.00 a month housing allowance. The check from the state was to be credited to the escrow account. Cenlar accepted the first check, but rejected the last two payments. $400.00 could have been in my escrow account now, which would help lower my payments in the long run. Cenlar has miscalculated my escrow account from the beginning, which resulted in a not enough money to cover property taxes and insurance for two years. Then when they caught up, my mortgage payment increased dramatically. I tried to help them calculate the monthly escrow account to make sure there was enough money in the account, but they refused to increase the amount until there was not enough money for two years. I attempted to negotiate a more reasonable solution, but none of the customer service people can make a decision.
Freddie Mac was designed to help low income Americans secure affordable home loans, but now that they are able to hire out the servicing of the loans it has become a loan-shark operation. They say that they don't want to foreclose on you, but it seems like they get a commission for each foreclosure they can facilitate. I have owned my home for 23 years. I have 4 years left of the mortgage, and the principal is $16,500 on a house that Freddie Mac recently appraised at $105,000. Surely with $88,500 in equity there must be a solution that would allow me to keep my home and my equity while making my payments more affordable. I pray for a solution everyday and give Cenlar every single piece of documentation they ask for. I am hopeful, but reading the reviews does not help. Something has to be done about Cenlar's predatory practices.
Thankfully the Attorney Generals for Massachusetts and Michigan have filed lawsuits against them. A call to your state's Attorney General may help.

I originally had a house loan with another bank. Later on that year, my loan was sold to Cenlar. I tried to make a payment around the 12 of the month. Remember this is my first payment. I called the phone number and told them that I wanted to make a payment, but I had not received a statement. They told me that I could not make a payment because everything was getting transferred over. The representative told me not to worry that next month I would start fresh - "You can make your first payment next month."
At that time I was starting a small business. The money I was going to make the payment with was put into the business. Next month comes and my payment was double. I called the bank and asked what was going on. I told them what I had talked to the first representative. The second representative was rude and stated to me, "Did you think you were going to live there a month free?" She was no help. I asked her if I can talk to a supervisor. She said, "No. Based on what have you have told me, I can fixed this in my level," but she wasn't doing anything to help me.
She told me about a plan AFTER I asked if they had a plan that I can pay more a month for a few months. I told her that I wasn't going to pay anything until I talk to a supervisor. She gave me a list of all the bad things that can happen to me if I didn't pay. She also gave me another comment: "YOU DON'T WANT TO END UP IN THE STREET, DO YOU?" They can put me in to a plan to help me. ALL THEY SAY IS WE CAN HELP YOU, but in the end you get involved in more problems. After making 2 payments, I did the math of how much I was going to pay. It was way more than I thought.
I called back and told them, "Why am I paying so much?" I guess they already knew me from past calls. The first thing out of her mouth was, "I GUESS YOU DID NOT READ THE BOOK OF THE FINE PRINT WE SEND OUT TO YOU." She was nice enough to tell me all the charges I was paying. Before I got into this plan, the first thing I asked was the following: "Is there any order charges for getting into this plan?" She said no. She told me that there is no fee for the plan. The fees are for everything else.
Before getting into this plan, they had to pull my credit to see if I qualified for it. Because that one payment was broken into 5 payments, I had to pay late fees for every month until my account was back to normal. Also because I wasn't paying my late fees, I was paying late fees for my late fees. They put the late fees for the last month, the 5 month. Also because I was enrolled into this plan, I wasn't paying on time. They were going to report it to my credit that I was not making my payments. So it would affect my credit. In the end I paid so I can get out of this program. They told me I had to pay the whole amount because when I was enrolled into this program it was all put together. Today, 06/12/2014, I tried to make a payment early in the morning. Because it's Friday, it won't go thru until Monday, the 16. That makes it late. So a late fee. Also if you pay online, there is a fee. If I could give them 0 stars, I would.

They outsource customer service to India, and none of these people have a clue what they are doing. Your best bet is to send a Qualified Written Request to their Central Customer Service Department, certified mail. They are obligated to answer.
Send everything in the package - death certificate, legal papers, copies of your canceled checks (front & back) showing their name on the reverse side, your bank statements showing the w/d's, and DEMAND they credit the account for the payments made and produce your tax form. It is a great idea to send a copy of all of this to the ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE, FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION, and any other agency you can think of. I called customer service and was told that Cenlar had received notification of my bankruptcy discharge and would no longer be sending statements. The bankruptcy was 3 years ago. When I asked why they would take this action against a current customer, the answer was, "That is what we have to do but you can write and ask for a statement." I found the Periodic Statement rule passed by Congress in Jan. 2014 and they are required to send the statement. Let's see if that works.

I have never experienced so many issues with any lender before. For some strange reason, payments sometimes are accepted and sometimes are not. Then I end up having to pay a fine or reissue checks for payments. However, the most disturbing issue is that they have been holding a substantial escrow amount (at least 3 times) and they seem unable to refund/return the money. After almost two months now, I am frustrated that they say they mailed a check but has to be cancelled because it never comes to me. They have the correct address because they use that to send me statements and letters, and authorize me to discuss issues with them. I am beginning to feel that these people are playing games with consumers to hold extra money they help themselves to hold. Anyone knows who regulates these people and how I can file a formal complain? I understand holding inflated escrows is illegal.

We don't have a fax machine, but they wouldn't allow us to scan and email or send U.S. Mail. A pain, in other words. Submitted everything they asked for a week ago but heard nothing. I call yesterday and after l-o-n-g hold am told that yes, they have received my faxed copy of cancelled check but they can't credit me until previous servicer pays them. Think about that.

I have had a number of mortgages over my lifetime. I have never been late with a loan payment in my entire life, including this loan, and Cenlar, having assumed our completely current loan two weeks ago, is sending me a notice that I am in default?!! Every month since CENLAR began handling our mortgage (from a re-finance with the original lender) nothing has functioned properly. It began when we were not informed of the change in loan management. All the while, we thought our electronic payments were being made as they had been, but because no requests were made, no payments were processed. After four months, we received a default letter. That was resolved, but in each and every ensuing month when I attempt to make an electronic payment, I cannot access my account - their website refers to too many attempts and the locked account - on the first try.
I have contacted customer service (a misnomer and if they respond) and they require me to set up the account again and again. In the meantime, every month our payment is a few days later than it would otherwise be. Getting a response from their alleged customer service is iffy, at best. Are they trying to send their mortgagors into default so that they can foreclose and sell the properties? How many times have they done this, I wonder? I'm curious as to where such information might be found.

They have applied principal payments to interest and have then told us that "Some people prepay their interest". Due to an illness, we decided to try and get a loan modification to help us get back on track.
After many months and more months and after sending them our paperwork many times, we were informed that they were going to foreclose. We received a sale date but were told that as long as we were in "loan modification" they would not foreclose. Well on March 5, we received a phone call from Cenlar requesting yet more paperwork, I faxed said paperwork the very same day. The same day I received a separate letter letting me know the status of my escrow balance and a refund check of the overage paid. I contacted customer service where after I talked with the supervisor I was notified of the address change. I still have not received any written notification of what was going on and they charged me a late payment on top to provide injury to insult. It is very hard to get a hold of someone on the phone who knows what are you talking about. They sent me a letter requesting for initial deposit in October of 2013. I received the letter at the end of December. The letter asked for about $2200.00 amount of deposit to be sent using "enclosed self-stamped envelope". However, there was no envelope enclosed and I had to call asking for the address. After waiting 20 minutes on the phone they gave me an address.
I sent the check(s) and in December of 2013 and I had to put a stop on the checks because it went to wrong address. I called in again waiting for supervisor about 20 minutes and was told they will send me another letter. First they sent me a letter asking for the same documents again to start the process. Then they sent me another letter a week later asking for a different amount (about $437.00) of deposit using enclosed envelope to start the escrow account. Again, there was no envelope enclosed. It seems to me they are inconsistent with their process and I do not trust them to pay my insurance and Taxes on time. Therefore I give up and will pay my insurance and tax bills myself since they are due by now.

I have been paying on this loan for 20 years, and to Cenlar for at least 10 years. I want a payoff on my account and a record of all my payments. They refuse to provide such unless I give them my SS#, either via the Internet (only IE works according to them) or in writing. My complaint is that they have all my identifier info and I should not have to supply a SS# just to obtain info on my own loan. Given the recent spike in ID theft, credit fraud and CC record breaches, I sincerely believe that my SS# is unnecessary for this request and their refusal to provide info on my own loan without that info is illegal.

Our real estate company found out by mistake that this company is owned by State Farm. They should stick to car insurance because they know nothing about the mortgage business. Like a lot of people, our home is worth less than half of what we paid for it and we got stuck with a bad loan. Our mortgage company offered us an opportunity to participate in a homes affordable program since our payments were current for the last 12 months. This gave us the opportunity to have a 30-yr fixed rate 2.75% loan. Everything had been approved and ready to be signed off on but because we had a second (home equity line of credit with Cenlar), the second had to approve of the loan. Even though this would not affect the loan we had with Cenlar, they refused saying that we paid late every month.
Now let me clarify how they justified this lie. When my employer changed our pay days from weekly to be-weekly, I called Cenlar and asked to change my payment due date. They refused but said that we had a 15-day grace period and as long as we paid it within the grace period that we would not incur any consequences. We paid within the grace period every month. But now they were using it against us saying we never paid on the 15th (the day it was due). At this point we tried to reason with them, telling them that if we couldn't get this loan we would have no choice but to sell the house. They refused to work with us in any way.
We were advised by an attorney that we could short sale the house but because it wasn't going to sell for what we paid for it, I had to file bankruptcy in order to keep Cenlar from suing me for the balance. Therefore I was forced to file bankruptcy. Then we put the house on the market and found a buyer. The mortgage company accepted their offer of $220,000. Now they had to negotiate with Cenlar. According to Fannie Mae's guidelines, they could only offer Cenlar $6,000 and they offered us $3,000 relocation fees. Cenlar refused to agree to us getting relocation fees and would not accept less than $10,000 (they even alluded to someone paying it on the side/out of pocket). Which means the short sale has been blocked and we won't even get relocation fees and may even have to end up with a foreclosure, which is what we were trying to avoid in the first place. BOTTOM LINE, CENLAR IS A COLD PIECE OF WORK!

CENLAR is a corrupt and unscrupulous company that needs to have as many lawsuits and documented complaints filed against them as possible. Use the names of everyone that works for them you can in the complaints. Also, anyone having an issue with them should file written complaints with both their senators and local congressional representatives and file complaints with city leaders as well. Additionally, file complaints with your state attorney general, and regional office of the federal reserve. File complaints with banking and commerce committees of congress. The more formal complaints and trouble that citizens can make for them and their employees the better. Type out your complaints, send them to every agency you can. Do it in groups as well if possible, follow up with calls, letters and emails to document it with all agencies and representatives to hold them accountable to respond.
If there are any news reporters that handle consumer fraud and abuse, use them and write complaints to them as well. The more documented complaints the better. In time, some law firm may realize they can make money representing the public in a class action lawsuits. Invest the time, don't stop, keep writing even if the agency says they can't help, overwhelm them with complaints, and keep every response you get. Forward them to the the White House and President. Let him know how we are being bullied, abused, extorted, victimized by a company that is handling government-backed loans, and operating with government endorsement. Hold everyone accountable in writing. And don't give up, don't stop fighting. It may seem like we are getting nowhere but if we all keep chipping away, the criminal house of CENLAR will fall.

My husband and I purchased our home in 2007 using TB&W as our provider. When they were shut down in 2009, our mortgage got transferred to Cenlar, like many others. During the downtime, there was a payment made to TB&W that never got credited to Cenlar. In early 2011, I became extremely ill and it became difficult to make our payments. My husband had also had his income decreased when his contract was purchased from another company. We contacted Cenlar to begin a modification process. We filled out paperwork and more paperwork... and more paperwork. We were then told to not make any payments, this was in January.
In April, after 3 months of nonpayment, we tried again only to be told that there was a payment in escrow from our TB&W days, which was causing a problem. So the process started over!! I lost my job in June so things were getting more desperate and the need to modify was absolute. They decided that we weren't eligible and since I'd lost my job we should start it again!! Then one day I came home to find a gigantic lock on the front door and a bright yellow sticker stating that if we wanted to get in, we had to call them at such and such number. EXCUSE ME???
Obviously we absolutely panicked, this happened in July after trying to initiate the modification after all this time. Terrified, we moved out of our home and into a rental. We had to actually sneak into our house to do this. We contacted them multiple times but were constantly given the runaround. In September we were informed that our home had been sold at auction. All of the stuff we couldn't get out of our home because of the limited time period was confiscated and we were never able to get it back (a 200-year-old organ included... too big to move quickly).
Recently we hired a law firm to work on our credit. They disputed our loan with Cenlar as a general practice and Cenlar changed the status on our credit report from "Foreclosure" to "Foreclosure Redeemed". This makes absolutely no sense because we obviously are not in our home. The best part is that the entire time we supposedly had a payment in escrow that was never applied and we never received a check for. They are terrible and should not be allowed to practice any longer. The law firm also has not been able to figure out why they would have changed our status like that as it is general practice to either delete or do nothing. Just completely mind-boggling.

So when I started my Trial Period payments, the payments included the escrow payment of $93.13, but Cenlar or Bayview never credited it to an escrow account. I was told there was no escrow account, so all the payments that went to Cenlar were credited to the loan and interest balance. I have requested from them to take the money that is for the escrow account out of the loan payments and put it where it belongs in a new escrow account. I feel that my money has been misplaced and that my escrow account will fall short and I will have to come up with a lot of money in a large lump sum to make up Cenlar's problem. They have the money. We have paid the loan every month on time and paid $50 extra in principal every single month for the past five years! Then she says, "Oops, I see we did get your payment." So why are you calling me? I asked to speak to a supervisor and I got a Mr. **, who says he is a collections supervisor.
I asked him why I am talking to someone in collections when my account is not only current, but that we make the equivalent of two extra payments each year; are on target to pay off a 30-year loan in under 20 years; and have paid every single payment on time. He said that their auto dialer must have dialed us by mistake! What the heck? Then he told me I should speak to their manager of collections, Mr. Andrew ** at **, if I have further concerns. I asked him why I should speak to a manager of collections when my account isn't in arrears and never has been. He's like, "Well, so we stop calling you!" Why should you be calling me at 9PM when you automatically get payments every single month, we are ahead on our payments, and have never ever missed one?
As I was talking to the guy, I was looking at their website www.loandadminstration.com. It's showing that they already got the payment! They are even showing the extra principal! What is wrong with these people? With all the mortgage foreclosures and defaults, you'd think they'd spend more of their time going after deadbeats instead of bothering people who are paying on time and paying extra! I'm going to even accelerate my payments even more to further erode any interest I'm paying them because whatever they are getting, it's too much for their stupidity. We only got stuck with them when TBW got shut down by the government! The fed is out to shut down these people too.

I advised them that this account has been paid in full. They reported to the Credit Bureau that there was an unpaid balance of $2,034, which is more than the $1,161 that they said I owed. I have been given several more different amounts to pay, and each time I pay it, they would hold the check for 5 to 6 weeks and send it back stating that it is the wrong amount. They would not cash it until the correct amount is sent. They gave me a total of 4 different amounts before telling me the correct amount was $715. They never sent me a payoff statement until they told me the $715 was due to pay off the loan.
This account was never late. They made errors on the payoff amount and held the check while reporting me late. This was their error. I advised them to correct the credit report to reflect that and they refused. On four different occasions, the checks have been sent off to the payoff account, only to have them tell me, after they received the checks, that it is the wrong amount. The amounts were all given to me by Central and sent out on the day that I was advised. They also returned the final check because they said that the last payment must be made by Western Union, another thing that they failed to tell me. The consumer-reporting agency will not do anything. The FHA will not get involved because they do deal in that arena. To prove fraud, one must have money to fight back. And there my friends, it ends. I began with Taylor, Whittaker, & Bean. I made my payments weekly which are always equaling slightly more than a once a month payment. TWB went out of business (not that I knew about their bankruptcy). About eight months later, I received a phone call from some company called CENLAR stating that I was behind in my payments and demanding that payment be made. Apparently, CENLAR had mailed their letters to the mortgaged property address and not to the billing address! I had never received this information.
I changed my automated payment from TWB to CENLAR and then began the arduous task of pulling up bank and checking account information to show that during the time between TWB's bankruptcy and my making payments to CENLAR, all payments had been made to TBW. After several months of contact with CENLAR, they finally confirmed my payments, adjusted the escrow, and removed the threat of informing the credit bureaus that I was delinquent (which I had never been). Everything seemed to mellow out.
I continued sending in my monthly payments ([monthly payment*12]/52 + extra) as I had been doing with TWB, and everything continued on the same for about 2 years until January 2012 when CENLAR sent me a letter stating that I was about $467.00 short on my monthly payment of $667.19. I knew that this was not possible as I had sent them $800.00 towards the monthly payment. I called CENLAR and went over the payments with them, and that issue was resolved.
Now, March 2012, I receive another letter to the same effect. After calling the "Customer Service" number (obviously a call center most likely in India) and attempting to once again go over the already made payments, I was told that the CENLAR policy had changed and either I pay the monthly difference or I would be charged a late fee and be reported to a credit reporting bureau. I asked to speak to a supervisor who argued with me and requested that I provide CENLAR with a copy of my mortgage agreement and also told me that they did have the ability to accept weekly payments but that I would have to call their "Equity Accelerator Payment Authority."
I called that number (800.209.9700), and the information dialogue informed me that 1) I would pay a fee and 2) I would have to give them access to my bank account so they could withdraw the funds. I called CENLAR back and stated that this was not the normal and accepted procedure that I had had with either TBW or with CENLAR and that as far as I was concerned, this was a breach of contract.
At this time, this supervisor told me he had a copy of my mortgage agreement and haughtily said he could mail it to me or fax it to me. I told him great and provided him with my fax number. I have yet to receive that fax as I am fully aware that they may have an electronic synopsis of my loan but a loan center on the Indian subcontinent is unlikely to have the full loan information. I informed him that I planned to continue making my payments as I had to TBW and to CENLAR and that any action against my credit history or the mortgaged property would be viewed as a breach on contract. I never signed a contract with CENLAR and have an extended history of making weekly or biweekly payments to TBW and weekly payments to CENLAR.

Since they switched to their new website in October, I have had a billing issue every month. I make my payment online using my checking account. However, for four months in a row, they hold onto the payment for a week before requesting it from my bank. When they did request it, it was coded for savings, not checking. Since that is not the savings account we use, they bank sent it back as insufficient funds.
Then, in order to avoid a late payment, you have to pay over the phone (for a fee). The first time it happened, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and thought maybe I had accidentally checked "savings". However, it continued to happen and I am 100% certain that "checking" was marked. I have since switched to have the payment originate from my bank, but it just seems like a shady way of collecting late fees and fees for phone payments.

Same as all the other complaints, I paid TBW until CENLAR took over mortgage, then I was notified 2 years later that CENLAR didn't get the last payment before the transfer. I have sent numerous copies to CENLAR of the last payment that was made to TBW. They still send weekly letters and call every night of the week! I continue to make my mortgage payments on time, as always, but I refuse to make a payment that was already made. I can't believe this company gets away with this business. Cenlar did not pay insurance from the escrow payment, and consequently, we were canceled by the insurance company. Then, they assigned an insurance company, which was 5 times the amount we were paying for homeowner's insurance. My son was in Iraq at the time, and this should be illegal for them to do, to someone in the military. We assumed the mortgage company was doing what they were contracted to do. We wanted the escrow account cancelled, but they said we owed them $400, but it was really they who owed us that money. They need to be audited. They have shady accounting practices.

Cenlar purchased our mortgage, and second mortgage, right after we paid off the second mortgage, with our original lender. They continued trying to charge us, including late fees, even though we sent them paperwork, cancelled checks, and letters from the original lender. This went on for months. After six months, they finally agreed we were right, but our credit score had suffered. We requested for it to be closed, but they wouldn't. Now, we're trying to get our loan refinanced, and the new company won't do it with that second mortgage open. They are charging us a "paperwork fee", to close an account. Such **!

My loan was transferred from TB&W to Cenlar in September 2009 following TB&W's bankruptcy. For the first three months, I had no idea what was taking place. I was receiving letters from Cenlar monthly indicating where to send my mortgage payment. Through the course of all this, I was receiving cancellation notices from my insurance company since my premium which was normally paid from my escrow account remained unpaid. Shortly after Cenlar established themselves as the successive mortgage company, they sent out an escrow analysis. Surprisingly, the report indicated that there was a $2,002.56 escrow shortage even though taxes and insurance had not increased. Consequently, my mortgage increased just over $200 per month.
The most recent set of events pretty much pushed things over the edge. Starting in May of 2011, I started receiving an unexplained monthly charge of $13.54 under the category of Deficiency/Shortage/Surplus on my statement. By July of 2011, it assumed the title of Additional Principal and the amount was consistent at $13.54 monthly through October of 2011. Once the November 2011 statement was received, the monthly charge categorized as Additional Principal had increased to $39.90 where it has remained through my January 2012 statement.

In Dec. 2010, Central sent me a refund letter but only with a statement and no check. I called and asked if they could apply it to the principal. They said no but would try and if not, they would send me the refund. They promised to call me back within 48 hours. No calls for days. I called again and again and got the same promise, same message every time. Months later, surprisingly, I got a refund check but with my name misspelled. I called, the whole same conversation repeated. I asked if they could just apply it towards the principal. Same 48-hour promises, got no calls nor refund payment. I was extremely mad and called them back. The same thing was about to be said then I said "no, I don't want apologies, no conversation with Indian people. I wanted to speak with someone in the US".
After screaming and yelling, they let someone in the US talk to me. The US guy said that the information given to me was not true and that the matter should have been resolved a long time back. He played the mind game very well. He really calmed me down. Seriously, I never said any bad word at all throughout all the conversations with. I only raised my voice but spoke very professionally. The US guy apologized to me, I don't know how many times and promised to take the matter in his own hands to have it resolved.
He made me feel quite pleased. He did call me back as he promised but now asked me to return the misspelled check and asked me why I did not do send it back. How would I know that I would have to do it? The rep on the phone did not inform me. She only told me that she would cut a new check and again, asked me if I wanted to have it applied towards principal. Because I tore off the check, he asked me to write a letter explaining what I wanted to do. Gosh, it took them more than a year and still had no idea what I wanted. He gave me a private fax number **. I wrote a letter explaining per his request then faxed it. Guess what? The fax line was busy. I tried 5 times and the same error message "busy/no response".
I then had no choice but call them back. Again, I got an Indian guy on the phone who had no idea what the ** I was trying to say or he pretended and played the game very well as he was instructed. I asked him to go look at the log records for a follow-up on my conversation with the US guy yesterday. He did and gave me a new fax number **. I tried again 5 times while he was on the phone with me. Guess what? "Busy/No Response" error again. Then I asked for email or some way I could send in the letter. He said no and started to blame me for faxing at a peak time and asked me to keep faxing back again and again at lower volume times until the letter goes through. OMG, OMG, and OMG. I was saying it to myself and gave him a lecture on what was wrong with Central that they tried to blame on the customers for?
I thought I was living in the primitive time. I then asked to speak with a US rep as the US guy asked me to do yesterday. I was sent to a US rep and OMG again. This time, this lady sounded like a robot. I thought I was in North Korea. She did not respond to every question that I asked. She was in complete silence the whole time. I could only hear her breathing. I said I needed to fax the letter but it did not go through. Guess what? Same response, blaming me for faxing at the high peak time. I said to her "this is your problem, how do I know when is low volume time?". Then I asked if I could email it in. She responded cold-heartedly like a North Korean commie "cs@cenlar.com". Unlike the rest of them, the lady did not say the word "apology" to me once. I asked how do I know the email would arrive and my request is handled and asked for a follow-up or some sort of notification that they've received the email and/or will be working on it? She seemed absolutely deaf because she did not respond to every question I asked. I felt like I was talking to a robot the whole time. So I decided to hang up the phone.
These crooks really got very thick skin I tell you. I am going to email the letter and will follow up with you guys how it goes. It has freaked me out that they sent me to hell upon every attempt I tried to get my money back for over a year already. They set up all the scenarios to hold my money hostage. Central is a crooked business. I am so ready to sue them and TBW who sold my loan to them.

I was laid off and am working with NACA, We did all the paperwork to move forward with a forbearance on my mortgage. I submitted in May 2011 to Cenlar. I heard nothing from them. In May, I received a letter from a company called Bay View Loan Servicing asking for documents. Also stating that they were a debt collection agency. I paid no attention, thinking it was a scam. When I finally could get a rep from Cenlar, they told me that they sub-contract all modifications to Bayview. I sent Bayview all documents that Cenlar didn't send.
Since then there's no mention of forbearance. I became employed at a lesser wage in July. I sent all new documentation to Bayview. No calls, no emails, nothing. When I called and left a message on my acct manager's extension, I received a call with no message asking to call back at a number. I called, spoke to the account manager and nothing was being done, they needed more docs. I sent what they wanted, heard nothing and called a few times. Heard back and asked how it was going. Now they said I was being transferred to another account manager. Okay! He asks for documents. I state that the other account manager has all docs you are requesting. He'll get back to me. Nothing for a couple weeks. I'll call, no answer. Leave voicemail, no reply.
So I get a notice on my door that says Cenlar. All along, I'm getting notices on how much I'm behind, penalties, etc. But no resolve to modification or anything to do with my mortgage. So I call the number, they give me a number for Bay View and the rep says that I'll be given another account manager, the third one, and in a couple days to call and talk with them. That was just before Thanksgiving.

Now, another year later, I am again getting notices of overdue payments, over $3000. I am getting calls from their collection department constantly (6 times last week). And each time I call, they can't help me. It needs to go to a supervisor or someone needs to research it.
Once I finally got a manager, we determined that they did not properly document my escrow shortage payment (which happens every year) and my correct new payment amount. Once she found this, she agreed that everything was resolved. Since then, I have received at least four more mailed notices and any messages from collections. When I call back, no one can help me. Oh my goodness! I can't believe all that I am reading. I was just checking into the Central company also, since taking over my mortgage from Whitaker, Taylor & Bean. I have also had problems with the escrow account. I was told it was Whitaker, Taylor & Bean that messed the payment on the escrow account, not Central. I have had $76.00 added to my payment, also due to underfunded escrow account per Central. I am not sure if it was Central that mishandled the escrow accounts. It was originally Whitaker, Taylor & Bean that is, who I think, should be accountable for the underfunded escrow account and should have to pay them for us.
As a homeowner, I didn't have anything to do with the math on the loan. And since it was not my mathematical mistake, it should be the responsibility of the original deal makers. I had originally agreed and signed a mortgage that had the taxes and insurance escrowed in the monthly payment of $508.00. Now having to pay $577.00 a month can make or break a customer. I also wonder after a contract has been signed, how as a consumer we can't change the contract? However, it seems that the mortgage companies do as they please. Isn't this a breach of contract? I notified them by phone and kept getting someone that sounded like they were from Pakistan. The person either couldn't help me nor give me their supervisor to talk to. I sent letters to no avail.
Then I stopped auto-deductions at my bank and started mailing payments minus the amount for the optional insurance. Then they tricked the bank and sent in an amount for even for, which was held of my disability check. Plus, this was done 2 days after they had posted my mailed in payment. I then sent in more letters according to RESPA forms to their drafting dept. & customer service department by certified mail. Only the one to customer service came back stamped with a name. I have read through so many comments here that echo what I have gone through after the servicing of my Taylor, Bean and Whitaker mortgage was transferred to Cenlar. It's shocking.
It seems to me that so many of us can prove undeniable financial hardship on account of Cenlar's unacceptable mismanagement of our accounts. Where are the attorneys willing to file a class action lawsuit against Cenlar on all of our behalves?
Whether it be undocumented payments that have been made by the homeowner, sudden increases in insurance and taxes held in escrow, late payment of insurance fees resulting in cancellation and/or higher premiums, inaccurate escrow statements, incorrect 1098 mortgage interest statements, incorrect loan settlement statements, false reporting to the credit bureaus or no reporting at all, all of these have an effect on our financial lives.
I have been unable to refinance my home at a better rate (despite an excellent credit score and low debt-to-income ratio and plenty of equity in my house. I am one of those fortunate few who is not upside down in my market), unable to take out a Heloc loan or sell my house, pay my taxes on time (both my federal and state income taxes due to the gross errors in my 1098 form from Cenlar and my property taxes which were held in escrow by Cenlar) and all of this because I have not received a single piece of accurate, written or verbal information about my loan from Cenlar in 10 months.
No reputable business, be it another mortgage company, bank, credit union, private lender, real estate professional (or any one in their right mind) would touch my property if they know what is good for them.
In fact, according to both my county records office and all three credit bureaus, there is no current record on file of my loan, at all. If I were trying to boost up my credit score through paying my mortgage on time, every month, it would be to no avail. There has been zero reporting on this loan since August 2009.Both are showing TB&W as closed and no new entity has been legally assigned or reported, according to them.
I have sent countless requests (either by phone, mail or email) for Cenlar to "produce the note" and at every turn, I get stall tactics. This is in direct violation of the Respa Act. They have, in some cases, had 10 months to provide me with the information I've requested.
I encourage everyone on here to go to the HUD website, type in Respa in the search box, and use the resources there to copy their form letter requesting whatever it is you need from Cenlar. Send it certified and keep a copy for yourself. When Cenlar fails to respond, as they so often do, you will have proof that they are in violation of the law. The more of us that have this, the better.
When I asked my county court clerk whether any other entity other than Taylor, Bean and Whitaker could initiate foreclosure proceedings (should I choose to stop paying since Cenlar has failed to provide me with the information I need to exercise my right as a property owner to sell, refinance or pull equity out), she said ,"absolutely not".
Now, I am not advocating defaulting on payments...I am just trying to make a point that when your own attorney tells you that the only way you might be able to force Cenlar to give you information is in court during foreclosure proceedings (where, in most US states, homeowners still have the right to fight foreclosure through the judicial process), you know you have a problem.
But please, despite the headache and the fear of what they can do, don't let them intimidate you! Find out from your credit report whether your mortgage is even appearing and whether Cenlar is reporting on your loan.
Check with your county deeds records office whether they are listed as either the lien holder or servicer of your loan, and ask them how long, by law, they have to report this to your county or state. Document every single time you try to contact them and when you do and who you spoke to and about what.In fact, stop calling -- make all your communication with them written in a form that meets Respa's requirements of you, the homeowner. Document, document, document!
And if anyone out there wants to spear-head a class action lawsuit, let us all know! Together maybe we can put an end to this madness.

He told me not to worry and would take care of it that day, and would overnight the payment. On Tuesday, June 1st, I made a follow up call to Cenlar, I was told by a nice lady (with a Hindu accent) that Cenlar does not have the bill to pay. I told her to put on a supervisor and was transferred to Nick. He managed to find the bill and promised to have this overnighted to my insurance company in 36 hours "tops". I again informed him of the importance of this as my insurance was to be cancelled on June 7.
On Friday, June 4th, I called my insurance company to verify payment and was told they have not received any payment. I again called Cenlar and asked to speak to Nick, another Hindu speaking woman would not transfer my call until I gave her all my information and told my problem to her. Finally, I got Rick, another supervisor, who told me Nick was busy. He told me not to worry, that $1820.00 payment was made to Ohio Casualty. I said great, but my payment was $783.00 and my Insurance Company is Peerless Insurance. After being on hold for another life time he came back and corrected himself and said the payment was made to Peerless, he however did not have the address.
I provided him with the address and was told it would be overnighted. Monday, June 7, my insurance was cancelled and Peerless insurance still has not received any payment. To top this off, 1820.00 was deducted from my escrow account leaving me in the negative. 1820.00 by the way was my balance on my insurance policy for my house and cars. We have been dealing with our last August, September and October mortgage payment from 2009 not showing that it was ever paid. Finally, Cenlar told us that, "Oh yes, we see now that your payments were made," however, there was still the question of our escrow account not being accurate ever since Cenlar took over our mortgage in August even though I have faxed and mailed the correct information. They failed to acknowledge it or they never seem to receive it. I cannot tell you how many endless hours I've spent on the phone to someone who can't hardly speak English or understand it and it's hard for me to get my message across to them.
We just found out in May that, "We show you've not made your Aug. 09 payment." I mailed the information again and faxed it again just this week on Monday, May 24, 2010 and again on Friday, May 28 2010, and would you believe Cenlar actually called us up on a Saturday. Who would have thought on a Sat., nonetheless, to ask, "Are you going to send us your information for your Aug. 09 payment?" My god, I cannot take the stress of these people who work for this so called mortgage handling company handling our mortgage money or our escrow money any longer.
Just today, May 30, 2010, I received a letter from them on their version of our escrow account which I might add is going up from $766.11 to $896.21 as of 7-1-2010 because they say our escrow account is showing a shortage of $1416.94. My god, this Cenlar company is actually going to drive me crazy. I've sent them the right information as to were they've screwed it up. This is the other thing these smart people and Cenlar do. They sent two installments of my escrow money in September to the same wrong insurance company twice on the east coast when my insurance company is on the west coast, Seattle, WA, which caused the second problem with my escrow account.
They've never gotten it straightened out yet and we're on our 10th month since Aug. of 2009. I literally cannot take the mental stress of this company on going incompetent actions with my mortgage and escrow money. They can't be trusted to handle money or mortgages for the public. I had no idea this was going on with so many people. I only found that out in the last two weeks because we cannot mentally take it any longer. We are refinancing through another mortgage company. Yes, we are going to get the shaft and lose money first on our escrow account and on the refinancing fees to refinance. I think that's what Cenlar wants, that way Cenlar wins. They still get to screw people out of money that goes in Cenlar's pocket or the pockets of the people who work for Cenlar, and the customer just moves on by refinancing through another mortgage company.
I would love to talk to the news media if I thought it might rectify the problem for us and others. And I would love to hear from an attorney if I thought Cenlar would be made held accountable for their incompetency with customers' hard earned money.

I've got a good one! Cenlar took over my mortgage within the first year of home ownership. They pay my tax and insurance. The month they took over, my property tax was due and I guess in the shuffle, the bill was never paid. It is now a year later and several phone calls and letters/faxes with the bill to them and it remains unpaid with late fees growing. But this is small potatoes.
In July 2009, Cenlar informed me that I must have special hazard flood insurance because of the zone my property is situated and that they would be buying a policy for me if I did not buy one myself. Looking around I saw that the difference in policy cost, were practically nill so they went ahead and bought a policy. Never heard back.
In January 2010, I received my annual escrow statement and new payment checks and noticed that my monthly mortgage payment had gone up $500, that is 33% higher than my previous payment, so I did a little digging around. After sending several letters and making phone calls to them, it turns out that they never sent me details of the policy the purchased or any statements for payment. Instead they paid the policy, which was started in April of 2009, when they only notified me in July 2009, throughout the rest of the year. This caused a deficit in my escrow account, for which they have levied a $2000 annual buffer fee to ensure it does not happen again. So now my monthly payment is with the added 2009 policy, 2010 policy and buffer fee.
I am fighting this and have not been paying the new amount, but the old amount in full. I managed to find an insurance broker who is supplying me with a cheaper policy (less coverage) and her dealing with Cenlar has now been going on for 4 months. These crooks need to be brought to light. I am still in the midst of trying to resolve the chaos their actions have caused on my account. The property tax bill from April 2009 is still unpaid and they have sent me letters saying they will not be accepting what they call, short payment from now on. They have not responded to the new insurance broker about my 2010 policy after months. I know I will have to get an attorney which is just going to be more cost. Anyone knows an attorney?

Once again, CENLAR has failed to pay our property taxes resulting in yet another threatening notification from our City Tax Office that they intend to sell our brand new home for an outstanding tax obligation due to CENLAR having failed in their fiduciary responsibility to pay our taxes in a timely manner. Our attorney will be contacting CENLAR to release us from escrow and afford us the opportunity to pay our taxes on our own, and no longer suffer from CENLAR's malicious negligence that has caused undue stress by having failed to comply with their obligations to pay the taxes on time, and without the need for faxes to be sent by the homeowner reminding them of their duty. I have contacted the Better Business Bureau, as well as NY city media to look into CENLAR's failures to properly manage the accounts of their clients.

Cenlar foreclosed on my home in 2005, I have the letter from the attorney who confirms my home was foreclosed. Cenlar continues to report to the credit bureau five years later that foreclosure procedures are starting. I have filed a dispute, faxed in letter from attorney. When I spoke to Cenlar, they said definitely my property was foreclosed and they would call me. Never would correct, never would call me. They are evil. I am not looking for a pity party, however, had a terrible injury that left me in a wheelchair for almost a year and then a walker. My husband had cancer and passed away, terrible time. Everything I read about Cenlar is bad and talking to the people who work there their actions should be illegal. One of the collectors told me he would never allow himself to get as low as I am. My credit is destroyed because the foreclosure shows as beginning in 2010 when it was foreclosed five years ago. If there isn't a law, there should be for the abusive and degrading conversations with Cenlar.

With Freddie Mac in the mix, I smell a rat. I'll start trying to get this straight. From these previous comments, I think I have my work cut out for me.
$150.00/mo is a lot (especially since I don't really owe it). With this economy, everything is costing more, the government is taking more. I am the only source of income. Are you kidding me?

Our loan was sold by TBW to Cenlar, when TBW went bankrupt. We had mortgage and escrow payments taken directly from our account for 11-12 years, and never had a problem. In May 2010, we received annual escrow info from Cenlar, stating we had over $1,000 in shortage in your escrow, and our future payments would be changed to make it up. It turns out they paid double taxes in October 2009, but never told us. When I contacted them the first time, they agreed and said it would be handled. The second time, they said yes, they saw they did that, but I still owed the shortage, and I needed to send a fax of the double payment to them, which I did. The third time, they said they had researched this, and they made double payments on taxes, because TBW never paid taxes. My question, is where is my money, then? The escrow money was paid diligently for years, yet my taxes weren't paid?
This is definitely creating a financial hardship, as only one of us is working, and I am attending college full time. Payments have been raised for about $100 each month, and we simply do not have it. This has been very emotionally draining and stressful, resulting in higher blood pressure.

I have much the same story as others who had their mortgage bought from TB&W by Cenlar. The amount they wanted me to pay into escrow doubled immediately. It amounts to over $1200 than what is needed to pay taxes and insurance. I paid my own real estate tax before Cenlar could get to it. I am asking them to sign a waiver to release me from escrow. That was two weeks ago, and what I have gotten is an email saying their research department will study my request. I have not heard anything from them.
I am contacting my state attorney general. I cannot use Cenlar's website to make a payment that is due. The user ID and password does not work for some reason, even though I have used it before. So far my request to be sent my user ID and password has not been answered. Cenlar has told me they will not accept payment from me, if the amount sent is not what is printed on the payment coupon which includes an extra $100 a month going into escrow to pay for some kind of "contingency." And this would be the same every year apparently.

Central Loan Administration and Reporting (CENLAR) has been misapplying my mortgage since they took over servicing my mortgage from my previous mortgage company that went bankrupt. On April 15, 2010, I was surprised to receive a bill from CENLAR, that my escrow was short $1372.39. There was no way for me to verify the accuracy of this statement. To avoid having to pay extra penalties, I increased my monthly mortgage payment by over $100 a month from the original mortgage that was transferred to CENLAR. I also paid in full the escrow that I was short $1372.39. When I checked my account online a week later after both my increased mortgage and the additional mortgage were paid, I was surprised my account was only credited about $1372.39, and was misapplied to my mortgage, when it should have been applied to my escrow. My account was not credited $1415 that I paid for my mortgage. It was after I called to complain that I was told it will be resolved. When I requested a statement in writing for credit to my account for both payments, I was refused. Further, my request for monthly mortgage statement was also refused. I want the following done: 1) Refund of the $1372.39. 2) Monthly mortgage statement of my account sent to me by mail.

We had our mortgage on our lake cottage with TBW and were transferred to Cenlar in 8/09. We never got notification until 9/09 and immediately started calling because homeowners and flood insurance were due 9/1 out of escrow. We also called our insurance company who started calling them. They finally paid the homeowners after cancellation threat and only paid the flood insurance after FEMA threatened cancellation and raised our policy rate and charged late fees.
They refunded the late fee but FEMA doesn't care that it wasn't our fault that it was paid late. They also say that we did not pay the August mortgage even though we have submitted the cancelled check at least 3 times. The final straw was when on 8/19, they took $3000 from escrow to pay the property taxes. The problem is TBW already paid them when they were due in 2/09. We have supplied the paid tax bill several times. By doing this they created a escrow shortfall which only gets bigger when other payments out of escrow are due. They ignore our request as done under the RESPA act as well. They are inept and arrogant. Why is no one considering a class action suit?
They refuse to credit the escrow account which means we continue to be short in that. They did an escrow analysis in 10/09 and raised our mortgage payment by over $400. They said they would correct the account in 4/10, they have not and now are saying that they did not deduct the money even though the online account shows they did.

I am one of the unfortunate people that were with TB&W and then transferred to Cenlar. Cenlar does not report mortgages on credit reports. I promise if someone was not making their mortgage payments to them, they would report that. Since taking over 250K loans from TB&W it is hurting all that have mortgages that are not being reported. I am also in the mortgage industry so when trying to refinance anyone with Cenler it is like pulling teeth to get payoffs and/or verification of mortgages.
Since Cenlar does not report mortgages on credit reports, many people cannot take advantage of Fannie/Freddie refinance plus programs. They have no problem collecting money from people, but they are in no way shape or form helping anyone but themselves. I called them personally to ask them to start reporting my mortgage and they told me it can take anywhere from 6 to 12 months—what a joke. Let me be late one time and see how fast they will report that!

When CENLAR bought out Taylor, Bean & Whitaker, which was in July 2009, my mortgage went to CENLAR. I, along with my representatives, ACORN, at the time, sent in what CENLAR wanted to evaluate a re-modification of my mortgage. Nothing was done, nor were we ever contacted, and in late December of '09, I called CENLAR again, and was told that they had received nothing. ACORN sent a packet to them in the beginning of October of '09, with them having to sign for it from the delivery service.
So, in early January of 2010, I again sent CENLAR another packet, return receipt, and having heard nothing, I was extremely worried. At the end of March, or the very beginning of April, I get a letter from CENLAR telling me that my account has been switched to another company, and this company is now harassing me after 8PM, and asking me when I will be sending in my late payments, and also informing me if I want them to look at them re-modifying my loan. I will have to submit yet another packet, making it the fourth time that I, or ACORN, has submitted re-modification packets.
Nothing has been done, and I would love to sue these ** for the mental anguish that they have put me through this past year. I have almost depleted my savings account, down from $18,000.00 to only $6,000.00, trying to keep up with my payments. I have no more money. I will need that $6,000.00 and more, to move from here.

Like everyone else, my mortgage was sold to Cenlar in late Jul early Aug 2009. I was not notified and did not realize anything was wrong until I noticed that my mortgage payment did not come out of my account in Aug 2009. I called my local bank to find out what was going on. They informed me that TBW had been sold to Cenlar and that they had not notified anyone.
I asked the bank what to do about the Aug 2009 payment as I did not want to get behind on my payments. They told me to send it to TBW via certified mail and they would get it to the correct location. I did as they suggested. This month (April 2010), without notice they took two payments out, on one the 5th and one on the 7th. This placed my account in delinquent status while I was out of town on business with no access to money and no idea what was going on. I called them the next day as it was too late the day it occurred. One representative stated that it would take up to 8 weeks to correct. I asked to speak to someone else. The next representative tried to tell me it did not happen, even though I already had prove in my hand that it had.
I asked my local bank to stop payment on the request, which they did. I then receive a letter approximately a week later (yesterday) that my bank refused payment and they want their money now. I called Cenlar on 4/19 again to tell them that they took two payments out and it is not valid as I had not missed any payments and had the documentation to prove it.
I faxed them (their fax number is 1-609-718-1006) all my documentation to include the cancelled check with Cenlar written on the front and back from Aug 2009, and the certified mail receipt, signed and accepted. We will see what happens, but I doubt anything will by looking at the other comments. I will continue to stop any payments to them other than once a month.
I have sine started the process of re-financing through another bank to get away from these morons. Not only are they morons, but you can never get anyone on the phone that actually speaks English. They cannot understand you and you sure as heck cannot understand them. If you are not already aware, Cenlar has failed to report many, many mortgages on credit reports. Mine has not been on my credit report since TBW went under. I have talked again with my bank about this, and they stated that they are getting multiple complaints about this as well. I will not deal with these people anymore. Their name should be Cen-Liar, as they do not admit to their mistakes and do nothing to correct them.

When Taylor, Bean & Whitaker was closed, I was in the middle of a refinance. Both the prior loan and the refinanced loan were "sold" to Cenlar corp, and they have been trying to collect on both since 8/09. I have faxed, emailed, and called since that time and I never receive a response. Still, I continue to receive 2 bills, one for each loan monthly. I am current on my refinanced loan, however the original loan is going to collections. Credit score affected.

TBW transferred loan to Roundpoint Mortgage. Roundpoint transferred loan back to TBW...Meanwhile "Cenlar" says our loan belongs to them and we are 8 months behind in our payments and that they will both honor our loan modification that was done by TBW. Meanwhile, TBW has our escrow and money. Please help. In fear or foreclosure.
We are both disabled and got the loan modification because we needed to lower our house payment. We can't pay 2 mortgages. I can't contact TBW and Roundpoint has no record of us even though they cashed our checks.
