What is Cash App Taxes?
Cash App is a well-known fintech for sending and receiving peer-to-peer (P2P) mobile payments. It acquired Credit Karma Tax in 2020 and renamed it Cash App Taxes. Cash App Taxes offers free state and federal tax filing, but you can only file your state if you also file your federal taxes; it does not support state-only filing.
The program supports most tax forms and situations, but those who have more complicated tax returns might not be able to use Cash App Taxes. For example, Cash App Taxes cannot support multiple state or part-time state filings. It also cannot support state returns for married couples filing separately in community property states, such as Arizona, California, Louisiana, Idaho, New Mexico and Wisconsin.

It offers a W-2 importer to quickly fill in your employer information. Additionally, if you have used Cash App in the past, you can quickly import the previous year’s information. You can also import previous years’ returns from TurboTax, H&R Block and TaxAct.
For other details, such as brokerage account statements, you will need to input those manually.
Cash App Taxes services
Unlike other tax software companies, Cash App Taxes offers only one level of tax preparation for all users. Other companies might offer a free service for the basic level of filing and charge for more complicated tax situations, but Cash App Taxes is free for all taxpayers. There are only a select few who will not be able to use Cash App Taxes, such as minors (those under 18), expats and those earning foreign income.
Cash App Taxes pricing
Both federal and state returns are free for all Cash App Taxes users. Additionally, each return comes with free audit support that is offered through a third party. The service is free even if you are taking deductions or credits.
