I really can't say enough about Aure. He didn't waste my time with a bunch of fluff and promises. He verified if a third party could help me within my state, which they cannot & then stayed in the office with me, when though he knew he wouldn't be able to help me and gave me some great advice that I never even thought of asking the Department of Revenue. So this is much appreciated, he also told me to follow up to verify my findings within my state laws and I am just really thankful for his insight, it's great to get as much information as you can from people that know what they are taking about versus either ignoring the problem or just hoping it will go away! Thank you Aure!

Thank you for the wonderful review, Kris! We agree with you, we know how lucky we are to have him on our team!

I started working with Anthem Tax Services back in 2019 with Jacob **. To make a long story short, after spending 16K and going through a couple of years of delay tactics and ghosting, I can't recommend. I was not left in a better place than I began and they definitely didn't want to refund my money which is why I think they delayed so many email/phone responses.
The service seems nice and they really sound sincere but as I said, the delay practice will drive you to drink. The reason why you do not see more negative responses is that they have a reputation doctor that contacts you to see if things can be worked out if you remove the negative review. I did this. I was then passed off to three Anthem reps in about a month's time and I became frustrated which was probably the plan. Do not use this service and don't be afraid to add your review so others do not get caught in this situation.

If I could give zero stars I would. Scam! Anthem Tax Service made a promise to reduce or solve my tax problem at the beginning before signing up. My case has been going on for a year now and now in a worse situation than I was before signing up with them. Anthem kept my case in the dark and not informing me and updating me. Had to call them to find the status. Been in contact with “human relations “ department and continue to get lead on with scheduling “1 min calls“ days out to prolong my situation. I’ve simply asked for a refund for what I’ve paid on this payment plan and continue to get the run around. 100% money back guaranteed? That’s a lie. I feel completely fooled at this point. You're better off going through the IRS alone than with anthem.
Off website: Not only is their pricing more affordable than many of their competitors, but Anthem Tax is also one of the few companies that stand behind their services with a 100% money back guarantee. They promise that by the time you finish working with them you will be in a better place than when you started, and if you aren't, then you will be eligible for a refund. Assurances like this make it easy to understand why clients continuously choose Anthem Tax for their tax needs.

Dealing with tax issues is frustrating. I felt like I was caught in a revolving door trying to negotiate with the IRS. Calling Anthem and having Barrie ** assigned to my case made my life much easier. Anthem does not eliminate your tax debt, because if owed, a debt should be paid. However, Barrie worked out a plan for us and when IRS made a mistake and wanted to penalize us, Barrie fought for us. It’s sad that we have to hire a private company to deal with a public government agency, but at times we do. The Best thing about Barrie ** is that he actually cares about his clients. Thank you, Anthem, for employing Barrie. He is a great representative for your company!

They asked for a good review before I agreed to use their service. So I did. I signed a contract for their service and had to pay in full before they would do anything. I am very embarrassed to admit that I was taken as a fool by this company and if you haven't signed on the dotted line, don't, you'll save yourself from having to file a review like this.

On 9/1/21, I hired Anthem Tax Services (ATS) based on the presentation by the company’s salesperson. He promised that ATS would negotiate and obtain a significant reduction in my tax debts with the IRS. He demanded a fee of $6,5K and collected $1.5K upfront. The balance was to be paid off with monthly payment of $671. I had paid close to $3k to ATS and received zero service, except for the computer calculated installment agreement to the IRS. The amount of the monthly payment to the IRS as “negotiated” by ATS is the same computer calculated amount that I obtained from IRS website prior to my engagement with ATS. Most important, it was not until 1/26/22, that l was made aware unless the full $6.5K is paid, not only that ATS “Resolution Department” would not work on my reasonable cause penalty, but Anthem “cannot guarantee success.”
Lastly, on 2/4/22, I received an email from Anthem that simply affirmed that ATS would keep my $3K, because [my] case is not eligible for a money-back guarantee request, since Anthem was not “given the opportunity to complete [my] case and explore all possible resolution options with all applicable taxing authorities.”
ATS added yet another reason – a lie, of course - to keep my $3K; thus “Since you are advising that you have contracted another tax firm to move forward contacting the IRS on your behalf and the other company is now tasked with the resolution of your tax liability, we will move forward with the cancellation of your service. This is due to you breaching our agreement and initiating services with another tax firm to contact the IRS for the same service we were contracted for.” False. I did no such thing. It is a stupid lie that could be disproved easily with a single telephone call to the IRS. To this day, ATS remains my tax rep of record with the IRS. Hence, ATS would not have a problem with IRS to verify whether ATS has been replaced by another firm as my tax rep. So, yes, I have been swindled out of $3K by ATS.

Dear Kolapo,
Thank you for this review you had published. We take this information very seriously and it allows for us to take this data and information to improve our client experiences and internal processes going forward. Unfortunately, only part of the information you published is being shared in your review. Let me clarify and add some additional information so your review is more accurate. 1- we were able to lower your balance by $4,238.37 by enforcing a first time penalty abatement. We are not able to "guarantee success" of a reasonable cause penalty abatement because we can't forecast what the IRS's decision will be. The reasonable cause for a penalty abatement will only be accepted based on the information you provide us and we can't provide you a guarantee if the information you provide us isn't enough substantiation for the IRS or if it's not a legitimate reason for the IRS to abate your penalties. You had paid us a total of $3,513 of the $6,500.00 that you had agreed to paying. We are not going to finish your case until we are paid in full which It says that in your service agreement that you had signed. This is partially why we have not continued servicing your case further because more fees must be paid. Lastly, the salesperson you spoke with didn't "demand" 6.5k. He provided you the cost of our service and you made the decision to hire us. I don’t want your review to make it seem like you were forced into hiring us when it was a decision you made after you did your due-diligence.

I received a notice from the IRS that I owe $45,026.53. On August 20, 2021 I called Anthem Tax Service and spoke with Mollie **. Anthem Tax Services said they would be able to immediately stop garnishments, levies, liens, etc. preventing further actions from the IRS for the total price of $8000.00. On October 03, 2021 I discovered an unauthorized promissory note charge of $16,974.72 from Anthem Tax Services bringing the total Anthem Tax Services fees to $24,974.72 on top of my IRS debt of $45,026.53. To date there has been no reduction of my tax liability, while I am being garnished with levies and liens being attached. I have reported Anthem Tax Services to all relevant local and federal government agencies. Avoid Anthem Tax Services. Do not waste your time and money with Anthem Tax Services. I have experienced the same tactics reported by other reviewers.

Mr. Wayne you have had clear communication with your tax professional about the final resolution of your case. Anthem Tax Services is a rip off and a scam. They make promises they can’t keep and then make promises that they say they can keep only don’t keep those promises either. David **, one of their slick salesmen, is very responsive until he gets you to agree to hire Anthem and then does not answer phone calls or return them. Their “Case Managers” do not respond to emails or answer or return phone calls either. Don’t waste your limited funds on Anthem Tax Services. You would be better off finding a company that actual cares and handles your problems or use the funds to pay off your tax obligation.

If you are a new client and deciding to work with these guys. Stay away from this company!!! I've started the case in August 2019 and my case was throwing around between different reps. Finally, it was solved in October 2021. It took them 2 years and 2 months to resolve a simple case. They negotiate a tiny portion initially, we agreed with a much bigger portion. Awful customer service and horrible experience. It will be much easier and faster than you deal with IRS on your own rather to work with this company.

I selected Anthem Tax services after receiving letters from the IRS. I was told they would be able to reduce my tax liability. After almost a year after signing, I never heard from them and couldn't get in touch with my case worker. Several calls over a few months and finally got in touch with a manager who said someone would be contacting me after the first of the year. Sometime in February 2021 I called again and pitched a fit after learning I had approx $4000 interest added to my IRS debt due to Anthem not following up or taking any action.
My case working was no longer with the company and a new one was assigned. In April of 2021 I had provided all required documents and they said they will only be able to set me up on a payment plan to the IRS... No reduction, No penalty abatement, nothing that would help reduce my liability. In fact my liability went up due their lack of response. Here it is July 2021 and still nothing from the IRS for a payment plan yet interest is still accruing. I want my money back. We'll see if they hold true to their guarantee.

Updated on 09/06/2022: I contracted with Anthem Services over two years ago. I was charged $4000 for the service of helping me obtain a resolution with IRS over past debt. I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM ANTHEM IN ALMOST A YEAR. This is what I received for $4000:
Multiple requests for documents;
Tax form preparation for three years;
Lots of promises.
After I wrote a bad review, I received a call to assure me all would be ok. After that I got a few calls from a very nice woman in FL to say Anthem was waiting for IRS to process a tax return from a previous year before the can continue with the case. That’s the extent of their “service” for $4000. IRS has processed the return and placed my account in jeopardy. Not one word from Anthem. BE CAREFUL. Do a thorough search for individuals who can help you. If you choose Anthem, proceed cautiously.
Original Review: I have experienced several instances of requests for documents, which I supplied. The most recent request for tax documents for a tax year I did not contract assistance for. I have experienced having to deal with several different people requesting documents only to then learn the person 'is no longer with the company.' Then they start all over asking for more documents. NO ONE has provided me with an analysis of my situation and NO ONE has informed me about their representation of me with the IRS to assist with debt resolution. To date, what they have done is assist me with completing and filing tax returns for the years I need help with. I am no less than 60 days away from the expiration of my contract and this is what has been accomplished - filing tax returns.

There was a tax bill on a business in the state of Nevada that I never owed and Anthem provided the conversations between the Department of Taxation and their firm. They also did the procuration of an offer in compromise due to our current situation. So, an offer of compromise was accepted recently and we're waiting for the final papers to come through. Initially, I had contacted David and he was a very energetic and strong individual. I liked him. Then, I moved to another lady for a couple of weeks. Then, we moved to Victoria. She was very detailed, careful and was able to get the result and the job done. But it’s always nice to know when someone takes over the account. It changed three times over time and that was a little excessive.

Anthem seemed like the best fit for what I needed. I worked with several reps and they were all really well. The one whom I worked with most did a great job. There was so much paperwork during enrollment but it didn't take that long. Settling wasn't the greatest but it wasn't Anthem's fault. The state pulled out an agreement they earlier made just to get us to sign. Still, it worked out and this is better than what I had.

I had some years that I had not filed taxes and I needed to get that done. I called Anthem up and said, "Okay. What's going on?" and they were good. I wanted to have that contact all the time, somebody updating you every day or week. I didn't get that at first. But once everything got underway, it went smoothly. And I can still send an email, and they sent information if I needed it. They should improve in the initially explaining to customers exactly their process, what different steps will be, you will get to phase one or phase two, phase three. And not having to inquire yourself, but that should be something that they should give on their own. But they work with you being the mediator between you and the IRS and they see to your advantage or try to as much as they possibly can.

Everything was good. The only issue that I had was when I first contacted Anthem, they made it seem like they could have done more for me. At the very end, all they did was put me on a payment plan. That's something I could have done. I didn't get any reduction at all. I ended up paying $3,700 and they gave me a reimbursement which was half of it.
Anthem needs to be a little bit more transparent and upfront when it comes down to what they can and cannot do. They could have asked me more questions and looked at my financial backgrounds before they even took my case and said, "Honestly, there's nothing we could do.” I do have a 401(k) and properties. I have means of paying it back. They do help but they have to be more specific on how they can help you based off of your conditions. On an individual basis, they will need to drill down and see if that person is a good candidate for any kind of help. If it's just going to be a payment plan, then that's something that he can do on his own and not pay the $3,700.

Thank you for your feedback, Mr. Enrique. Your experience was also shared with our company so that we can make things right moving forward. We appreciate you!

I received an unexpected phone call today from Misty at Anthem Tax Services. It was in response to the low rating and critical survey I gave about my experience. Misty came across as sincere and expressed Anthem's concern about client satisfaction. I was asked to cover the details of that experience. Afterwards, I received an apology in addition to being told a reimbursement would be processed. Completely surprised and very delighted with this gesture, I could not have imagined any contact with Anthem after the service was completed.
Original Review: Jan. 24, 2021
Initially, my impression of Anthem was good. They were very convincing about their capabilities. I was provided an initial documentation and about four days later, I got a notice that I needed to sign another agreement. When I inquired as to why, I was told that there were some benefits to me that they were going to provide. That was great. I spent the last 25 years of my career in project management doing contracts for multinationals so I am very detailed about language in contracts. When I got the document from Anthem, I went through it and I didn't find any additional benefits. I emailed the Anthem guy back and asked about it. The guy was evasive. He lied and there were no benefits. He then gave me three different excuses as to why I needed to sign.
I started the engagement on September or October 4. The post date he wanted was four days later which was on the 8th or the 9th. That made no sense. But since I was getting benefits, I was okay with it. But there were no benefits. I pressed him and gave up in the end. I told him that if the benefits were not going to be provided, he should be upfront about it. There was an administrative mistake on the start date and I understood that. He finally conceded and said, “We just want to get this done. And it's just a later date that this process starts.” I said it was fine as I didn't want to delay it given the circumstances that my wife and I had.
About a month or two later, I got a notice saying that the IRS was unable to identify my wife and that is usually attributed to a middle name or maiden name. I couldn't imagine why because the documentation I sent was very detailed so there was no misunderstanding about her name. I passed on the information and they thanked me for it. A few weeks later, I was still told that the IRS doesn't recognize my wife. This was very mysterious and I asked what they needed. They said the Social Security numbers so I had the guy call me. I asked what Social Security number they had and he gave me a number. That was incorrect and there was no way I gave them that number. Somebody on their end made a typographical error. I gave him my Social Security number and he went through his records while we were on the phone. He said he got an update and he would send me the document with the corrected information.
The document he sent me was the original document I submitted to them. There was no mistake there. The mistake was in their submission to the IRS. The rep denied it and covered for whoever administratively handled it. I could see through that but I just let it go. I told him that I wanted them to pick up the pace and pay more attention to errors. He indicated at the time that there was a problem with my 2017 filing. I couldn't imagine why because up until 2019, I had no problems with the IRS. I said, “I'll pay closer attention to find out what's going on there.”
As we started moving toward the end, I got an email from the IRS that indicated where we were and what their expectations were. The bottom line is Anthem sent me the document which was with the power of attorney. When I received it, it told me exactly what happened. They screwed up. What the case manager didn't know was that the IRS sent a copy of what they submitted. And I told them that was what had happened. It would have been simple for Anthem to just admit the error but they stuck to their explanation.
I paid Anthem almost $1,000 more than the company I had initially planned to go to. My wife liked the story that Anthem told. But as we went on, I realized it certainly wasn't worth it. And then near the end, my case manager wasn't available for whatever reason. We had an agreement that he going to call me on the second week in January but I didn't hear from him. I sent some emails because I received a notice of liens from the IRS. I left several voicemails and I didn't hear from him.
It just so happens that I had the phone number of the attorney who cut the power of attorney. I gave him a call and he came across as very professional. He offered his opinions and it looked like we could move forward. I was told my case manager had been out ill and I halfheartedly went with that. I didn't need him anyway anymore. But still, there was no reason he could not leave me a message that he could not contact me and give me somebody else I could talk to.
We got to the final step of the process and I needed to file the last form, which was the authorization for a contract with the IRS. It was an agreement for payment with the IRS. When we first talked, I was asked for the account that we wanted the IRS to take the deductions from and I gave the routing number and the account number. The form came back and what stood out like a sore thumb, which my wife saw right off the bat, was a missing digit in the routing number. These people at Anthem don't do a very good job error checking.
In the final analysis, two things that stood out. One was evasiveness. Truthfulness is a problem. The other is errors and omission. I have to put up a $30,000 bond to cover errors and omissions. Anthem might want to consider that with some of its employees because given the number of errors and omissions, they could get burned very badly. In the end, I could have done better. Anthem was overpriced given the service that I got. When you call up Anthem on the web page, they come up as number one in the top five tax relief services. I could be one of the many disgruntled consumers who had a bad experience. If I were to make an organizational change, their case managers would be scrutinized better.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us, Mr. C. We do apologize for your experience with our firm. We take all comments very seriously and will be investigating the situation further so that we can make things right in the future. Thank you again!

Two years ago, I found Anthem online. I looked them up and I read their reviews, which were great. It seemed like they were trustworthy. The last two people I worked with, Michael and the female that he was working with, were great. Michael worked hard to do what he could to help me out. He called me back majority of the time ASAP. He was very polite and always professional. I also have to give the girl that was working with him credit because she was on it. Michael was good, but if she could take his place, I would love to work with her 100%.
I filled out papers and faxed my financial information to Anthem and I would like it if things had moved along quicker. It took two years and some of it was my fault, but even at that, it seemed like a long time. I would’ve liked to have been completely done with the IRS too. If I ever came into some money 10 years later, I’ll have to pay them back and to me, it’s like it’s still hanging over my head. I'm not as stressed as I was, but if it could have been resolved completely, then that would have made me happy.
Letters still come in the mail. I got one letter saying I owed $215 which I need to find out why. It might have had something to do with healthcare for one year, which I was gonna call Michael about because I thought everything was taken care of. Other than that, I don't have to make monthly payments. I don't have to worry about if somebody is going to come in and snatch my property up.

I happened to catch Better Business Bureau feedback and consumer feedback but I must have caught some positive feedback and chose Anthem. But they did a poor job for me. It took them over a year and a half to get things taken care of. They were terrible at communicating, returning phone calls or even answering the phone call. In my business, I missed calls too but I make it a point to return my calls. Anthem did about three income taxes for me for three years and I had one company do it for me here locally. My taxes were 5,000 and I thought of sending them to Anthem and see if they could do better. I turned out with a $15,000 bill, which was $10,000 more than what the local person did here in Texas. It was way more taxes than I initially started off with when I started off with Anthem.
There are variables and justifications but they didn't even try to do any kind of tax deductions. I was very disappointed. I went from owing the IRS maybe at the most, $10,000, to owing them $48,000. Anthem probably did the bare minimum they had to do just to collect my fees and settle my account with IRS. The only effort I got from Anthem was to set up a payment plan for me. I could have done that over the phone with IRS. Anthem was supposed to be reducing my tax burden but they increased it. I'm not happy with them and I wouldn't recommend them to anybody.
I didn't go online and make a big deal out of it. I just wanted to end my relationship with them as soon as possible and pay off my tax burden that they built up for me. The way I understand, for me to get any reduction in my taxes, I gotta be not working and not have an income, any assets, anything coming in or very little minimum wage or below poverty limits to get any reductions or be able to reduce my tax burden at all. I got passed around at least a half dozen times with the people that were handling my account. I never knew from month to month or phone call to phone call who was gonna be handling my account until the very end. I just wanted to get the paying over with and it’s not settled. I gotta pay 700 a month for the next six years. So, it's not good.

I was laid off and I had to go into my 401(k), so we had a big tax bill that we couldn't pay. The first person I talked to was the sales guy, Greg. During our first conversation, he said they could help me. He asked for some initial information and we've never done it before, so we didn't know if that was a comprehensive list of what he should be asking. We said, “Great. We'll send it with the service.” At the time, money was extremely tight, so he worked out a payment plan. He said, “Once we get the final payment, we'll start it.” They got the final payment on the first part of October, but we didn't hear anything. When we finally heard from someone, it was November or December and we got back to that person with information then we didn't hear anything.
We finally reached back out to Greg because we didn't have the name of anybody else. He said, “Oh, that person is no longer with the company. Let me get somebody else to contact you.” Shortly after that, we got a notice from the IRS that they were putting a lien on our property because they hadn't been contacted. I reached out again. I said, “Hey, this is getting serious. We need some help.” He added somebody to the email and said, “This person is going to be contacting you.” He didn’t contact us. It took me badgering them to get them. I finally made contact and got through some initial information. They said, “Hey. Well, you never did sign this document,” and I said, “Because it wasn't right. The first person who sent it to us left the company and it wasn’t correct. It was never corrected."
Alicia said, “I’m so sorry.” She was good about working with us and getting that documentation corrected. Somewhere along the way, COVID hit and it seemed like all sense of urgency was gone. They said, “Well, everything's on hold,” and I said, “You don’t understand. We’ve been dealing with this. This is frustrating. We paid you to do this, so get it done. I don’t care about COVID.” She worked with us and once she got everything documented, there was so much information that the sales guy had not asked us. I don't know if it was his job to or not, but we got it all done.
When Brie contacted us and we had a conversation with her, she started asking us about our 401(k). She explained, “Well, because these are 401(k), they're not going to reduce this amount you owe.” We were like, “You gotta be kidding me. That's what got us into this. Because we had to take money out of our 401(k).” Brie said, “No, that's how it is.” If the sales guy had told us that from day one, we would have just gone straight the IRS ourselves, worked out a payment plan and saved a whole lot of money. Everything we read about, apparently, we can do that on our own. Instead, we sent money. It was very frustrating and we kept getting emails saying, “Would you like to do a survey?” I’m like, “I don’t know if they really want us to.”
Before they take your money, they need to make things clear what's included if you have this much money and assets. I was just doing stuff. Our kids are getting ready for college. What's in our bank account is for financial aid, but all they want to know, "What's in your bank account?" They're like, “Exclude your cars, exclude your 401(k), exclude your house.” That would have been very helpful.

Anthem Tax Services got me out of a lot of trouble and arranged an agreement with the federal government to a point where I don't have to worry about it. I talked to Ben and he assured me that he would get our money back from the government which he did. He got a big chunk back that we really needed. He also guaranteed that we would be able to resolve the issue with them. It took a little time to do it but we were able to. I felt like he was on our side and that was really why I went with him. I was talking with another company and I didn't like the way they were handling it.
It's not something you kind of hire somebody and go stick to your chair and forget about it. It's something you got to watch, stay on top of, learn what they're doing and know what's happening. There was a huge mistake that didn't cost us anything but it took time to clear it up. If I were paying attention to the documents that they were sending, I would've noticed it. In the end, they came through with everything I wanted. I was perfectly happy with Anthem. There were days that I was out of my skin screaming and they calmed me down. They worked with me and took every phone call I've ever made.

We went online, trying to find somebody to help us out with our taxes. We liked Anthem's track record. We read a bunch of reviews on the Better Business Bureau. Talking with them and listening to their reviews on how they helped people, they thought of them as a person and not just a number. We used them to offer compromise settlement with the IRS. They stayed in contact with me through my whole thing. I've completed the program and it helped out a whole lot. We were struggling real bad. We had a lot of tax debts because of the situation I had, crushing my leg and being out of work for three years.
COVID slowed the process down because the government was shut down but Anthem handled all my paperwork. I got all my documents to them. They were real professional. They always called and talked to me about receiving letters from the IRS and all my information. I'd recommend them to anybody because with the debt we had and how well we came out in the end was amazing. They felt our pain. They knew what we were going through in struggling with how we accumulated our debt by an accident and work slowing down.

I owed the IRS money, so I started doing research and looking at reviews. Anthem had one of the better reviews out there. They got my case resolved in than a year, which is good. It took forever to give me my paperwork for the first time, and last time when it finally got resolved, but I don't think that was them. The COVID had something to do with it, but they kept up on everything and kept asking me if I got any paper from the IRS. They did a good job. I’m happy with the progress and what happened.

Where do I start? I first contacted Anthem in December 2019. I was told all sorts of things to begin with and to get me to sign up. Once I signed up I went months without hearing from anyone. Finally, I get ahold of someone and they pair me with a case worker of sorts and a tax attorney. Once I spoke to the tax attorney I was told the exact opposite of what I was told to get me to sign up. They can’t talk to the IRS to hold off on collections while we work something out, they can’t stop the IRS from levying any accounts, they won’t help with giving us advice on future tax years to make sure we are running and filing our small business correctly- all of which I was told by my first point of contact - he actually said to hurry and get the ball rolling so he could stop the collection efforts while they sort out what kind of deal we can pursue. LIES.
Literally the classic bait and switch. I’m appalled that this company would treat people this way. No one has done anything on our file AT ALL. My tax attorney specifically asked me to send her any IRS letters we receive. I did that and 2 weeks later I finally get a Response - she can’t do anything until after we reevaluate the 2020 tax year. Every time we’re told one thing it immediately becomes another and the employees are constantly passing the blame. I’m completely done with this tax service. I’ve been lied to enough. I want a refund and I will take my business to a company that is transparent, communicative and has morals.

I started researching on the internet and I found some information about Anthem. I called them and the people that helped me out were really nice. They said that I don't need to spend that much money in the beginning. I'd start out with something simple for $500 and they'd go in and research and see where I would be at. That was what I was looking for, somebody to break it down for me and tell me what I needed to do. That felt very personable and there was no rush.
They were trying to help me. They were upfront and honest with me. They weren't trying to get all my money. They said that we could start and go in and contact the IRS for me to do some research and find out where I truly stand. This was in the middle of COVID so the IRS was virtually impossible to get ahold of. I spent hours on the phone on hold to never get through to them. Anthem kept me informed and said that with the COVID thing, it could take us a while.
Anytime I emailed them, I got a fairly quick response back. They told me my standing and that there's no need for me to spend any more money. I owe $88 and as soon as I pay for that, I'll be good. I was under the impression I owed in the $40,000 or so. You hear on the commercials, and they use scare tactics, but with what I thought I owed, I was nervous when I went to the mailbox because I was afraid the IRS was gonna send me something saying they were going to levy my pay or garnish my wages, and it took a huge weight off of me.

I had a great experience with Anthem. They helped me get caught up on my taxes and set up a payment plan. They were available to speak with me by phone if I had any questions through every step of the process, which I really appreciated. I also appreciated that I had direct contact with the CPAs. The guy who did my taxes was great. He told me all the paperwork I needed to gather. He would then send me the link with all the paperwork that I needed to print and sign and then send to the IRS.
There was one part of the process that was a little misleading. In the beginning, I had to pay the upfront costs to get caught up for all the taxes that I was behind on. The next step was that Anthem negotiates with the IRS to see what plans I would qualify for. I was under the impression when I paid the first amount to them that it was going to cover me throughout the entire process. That was not the case. The cost ended up being double of what I had originally anticipated. I had to take out a 401(k) loan for that first installment that was due for them in order to even get started on my case.
So, it was a few months after that I'd gotten everything submitted that Anthem told me the next step. I would have to pay another $1500 to get the rest of the stuff done. They could have been a bit more forthcoming in saying there would be additional costs eventually. That kind of money can be hard to come up with. If I couldn’t pay it, then I'd be right back where I was. My taxes would have been filed but the piece that I needed help with would not have been taken care of.

We really appreciate you taking the time out to share your experience with us. Thank you, Rebecca!

Anthem's program took more than what I thought it was gonna take. But I know it was a process. At the beginning, it was just getting all my information. In the last five months, they were with me and explaining step-by-step. Every time I had a concern, they walked me through it to help me understand the program I was in and how I was going to get the result I was looking for. Every time they ask me for my personal information or fax any paperwork, they took steps that they needed to take in order to help me feel comfortable with what they were doing. I was very confused with some of the steps and the terminology that I didn't understand.
When I first started going through the process, there was a government shutdown and that interfered. And then, there was COVID this year. It would have been nice for Anthem to reach out if things happen and say what they were not able to do. But, I was having to reach out to them and I wasn't getting the responses I needed. Once we got all that cleared up, the emails were constant and the communication got better. I am still waiting to see how much of the reduction there's going to be on what I owe. Until then, I will feel that there was some progress made on my behalf. I was very pleased with Anthem's services.

Anthem had a payment plan and that's what interested me. I didn't have to come up with a lump sum of money to get their services. The program was excellent. They got started right away. I called and talked to the financial people and they were telling me the option with the payment plan. Once we agreed upon something and I had to sign the papers in, they assigned a caseworker. I dealt with Catherine and she told me what she needed. I dealt with her the whole process over the several months.
Anthem is a great deal. I was kind of skeptical as I wasn't sure 'cause I haven't been in this situation before. But they know what they're doing. They were honest with what my options were and what could happen. I didn't have to ask stuff. They would call me from time to time or email, checking and letting me know. Everybody's really nice too. I'm extremely satisfied. There were no roadblocks and it played out just like they said it would.

It took Anthem four years to pay my taxes. They didn’t do much help. All they did was make an arrangement with the IRS for the payment but I called them myself. Every time there's a new tax to file, they're asking me if I need to include the tax that year and that year and the following year, and I have to add some money every time I said, “Yes, I wanna add it.” That’s the thing that I didn’t like. I still have to make my letter of abatement so they will remove the abatement tax on my tax. I had been asking them to help me out with the letter abut they haven't replied to me yet. Sometimes they're late to respond. I still don’t know if the letter of abatement is gonna be a successful one. But if that’s successful, then they should be able to help me out with about maybe $12,000 savings. I paid them over $3,000 for my fees.

There was some miscommunication at first, like notification about different things that were happening. They didn't notify me enough. But during the pandemic, a lot of stuff was shut down, so they couldn't get in touch with anybody with the IRS. But they straightened it all out and everything went fine. The reviews for Anthem were a little bit better than some of the other ones. Plus, they're on a commercial a lot so I figured if they weren't good, they would be kicked off the commercials by now. I went with them but it's kinda hard to get answers on things from them sometimes. We have never finished with them yet. Nobody's called and told me where we're at with it. The whole COVID thing happened and it's kinda messed a lot of things up. They're working from home so it's probably a little bit harder but the communication's a little slow. It's the worst thing. They need to keep their customers informed a little bit more.
It might've been November when I started this but I don't even know what the result's gonna end up being. I don't know what the results are on a lot of things. I had to keep calling back to ask them. They'd call and say they needed something, and I'd send it to them. Then they'd call back a week or two later saying they haven't got it. I had proof I sent it and I send it again. I received a letter from the IRS through all this. I had to keep calling in and ask them what would I do with it. They told me to send it to them so I did. They said it was just a scare letter.
They did my 2019 taxes for me during this process. I had to keep calling back and asking them, "Have y'all filed them yet?" "No, we're gonna do them next week." I call back, "No, we're gonna do them next week." That was a long drawn-out procedure. I was trying to update my tax information on it so I can get a direct deposit and nobody could ever let me know if they'd sent them yet or if they've been filed yet. They finally got it done and I got my check later but nobody was letting me know when they were gonna get it sent in and when they got it sent it.

Catherine, my attorney from Anthem Tax Services, was great. I was trying to get a garnishment by the State of Oregon lowered through them. However, their caseworkers were more of an interference rather than a help. I kept asking for help and I never heard from mine. So I started going straight to Catherine who was more than willing to talk to me. We emailed a lot and she always got on my emails when before, I would never hear from their caseworker. The State of Oregon never seemed to get all my paperwork and I constantly had to start over. I didn't know why they weren't getting all the information at one time 'cause I sent all of it to Anthem at the same time.
When I finally got a hold of Catherine, I was ready to give up. She calmed me down and told me that we could do this. She helped me and I did what she told me to do. She got right on things and I'm really thankful for her. She had to come in on all the stuff that I had already done which were not good anymore after a while. Overall, I would still recommend Anthem. If they give people a caseworker, they should just skip that person and talk to their attorney.

The two ladies that worked on the case were pretty good. They worked pretty hard. They did a fair job. At that moment, I thought, "It’s the IRS." So you think you're getting snookered either way. I laid out my argument but it was just, nope, the IRS didn't wanna hear it. When you're on the losing end of that battle, you just have to take your lumps. However, the payment plan sufficed in everything else. It was stretching out for two and a half years but I paid it off in months. It started in December and I paid it off in March. So I basically killed myself to make sure that my debt was paid. But overall it was a good experience. I’ve overpaid and the IRS is still taking money out of my account. But if we would have done it earlier, it would've been different because I wouldn't have had a job. It would have put us in a better position dealing with the IRS. But Anthem was and is still behind me so I'm good with that. Their guy Craig is still working with me and he’s gonna put in some paperwork for me. He has been outstanding. I'm gonna use Anthem again. So far, they've been great.

Hi Joseph, Thank you for the great review! The team at Anthem is thrilled you're happy with your experience so far. Craig is a fantastic agent and we feel lucky to have him!

They couldn't really reduce my total balance but they did what they could. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the program. The reps were all good. They were all very professional. Anthem is helping with my tax issues. I would definitely recommend them if a friend or family member ever needed help with their back taxes.

Hi Hermes, thank you so much for taking time out of your day for your feedback. We appreciate you and the recommendation!

I liked Anthem's reviews. I read the reviews and they were good. I did have some problems with Anthem. The first problem was the attorney. She wasn't getting in contact with me forever. Then she left, and another person took over. Then her legal manager wasn’t getting in contact with me and then come to find out, he left the company too. They were holding my file forever. The main person overcharged me and I was trying to get in contact with him. He said he’ll get in contact back with me. He never did. I called a lot of times. He never got in contact with me. If I had to go back to Anthem, I would not. At the beginning, it was okay. But afterwards, it was not okay.
I've had their services so far for about two years and I've dished out over $2,000. They closed it out satisfactorily, and then they had to reopen it because some kind of lien was placed on me and it wasn't supposed to be placed on me. They had to go back and figure out another solution. Now, we’re going through that different solution where I'm making payments to the IRS. The thing I really didn’t like is they want you to post good comments about them before you even start the process. It was awful. I have emails back and forth between them and me and a whole lot of stuff that’s not good.

Hi Justin, we would like to apologize for your negative experience with our firm. We take your comments very seriously and would like to investigate the situation further. Anthem Tax Services had the highest rating at that time I went with them. The service was excellent. I talked to one of the partners first and then Katrina called me, and I went through the whole process with her getting my documentation. She asked me questions and then she took a backseat and let me speak to the lawyer. I've been dealing with him lately and he has been very receptive. If I have a question, and I would email him and he would answer me back within 24 hours.
The program worked very well. I don't have to pay what I owe because I can't afford to pay them. I had no problem with the fee. It was 10% of what I owe the IRS. I am very pleased with them. I like the reps' attentiveness to detail, their willingness to assure me that I was gonna get through just fine, they knew their stuff, and they knew what they were doing. Working with Anthem took that weight off my shoulder. I didn't have to worry about the IRS coming to take my house, my car, my IRA, take my vision, or take my back.

Thank you very much for such a great review, Janet! We work hard to offer the best outcome for our clients, so I am happy to see that reflected to your case.

It was fantastic working with Anthem Tax Services. In January, I was on Google, and they were one of the first ones that came up. I picked the top five and read about them and Anthem stood out. So I called them and they got my information. It was quick and painless. The situation of getting it resolved with the COVID might have taken a little bit time but the lawyer kept in touch with me and let me know what he was doing and what he was trying to get done and it ended up saving me about $6,000. I was very pleased with it.

We are so grateful for your kind words, Adam. Thanks for sharing your review with us and the community!

I read reviews for several companies, and Anthem Tax Services seemed to stand out. The last person I dealt with, Jacob, is exceptional. There was someone else in the middle that I dealt with that I thought was horrible. There was no follow-up. There was lack of communication. I had had a very unpleasant experience years prior with the company, and he was aware of that and he left me a little bit skeptical about going through this again. I didn't feel that I received anything that made me feel confident about dealing with the company prior to speaking with Jacob.
Jacob was able to assure me that things are being taken care of. He took his time to explain to me what was happening and followed through with everything. If I had a question, I had a response immediately. This is not an inexpensive process and it's a very emotional process to go through. Having somebody there to respond to you is very important and Jacob was, but the person that I dealt with prior was not. I was glad when things switched. The gentleman that I met when I went up to the office was great. I loved him. I just sort of hoped that the rest of the experience would be the same. When the second person came on, it wasn't good. But Jacob did turn the whole thing around. Kudos to him for doing that.
I would have difficulty recommending Anthem again because of the person in the middle that I dealt with. Unless they could go straight to someone directly, I would not recommend the company again. It's a shame because everything has worked out okay, but those interim months when I didn't hear anything back left a very bad taste in my mouth.

When I was looking for Tax Services online, I got two or three replies from companies and I liked Anthem Tax's the best. They were the most prompt too. I went with them and in the beginning, things were very good. However, I started with three people but Anthem had a massive turnover. The three people I was working with are now all gone. Someone picked up the slack but it was a little disconcerting to make a change all of a sudden. Still, Anthem handled the change beautifully.
I also got discouraged because there was a mistake that was made involving the IRS and the pandemic hit. Anthem helped me file an amended return. The IRS did not get into filing it and so far, the IRS has been closed. I'm dealing with a new person at Anthem named Craig who told me that they would get the amendment filed and that I should be hearing something this month and that their service would be done. That was disconcerting as their service is not done until I get my return and the issue is finished. Regardless, Craig was very professional. He jumped on things when there was a discrepancy with my state. He figured things out right away and gave me a very good explanation. I'd definitely recommend Anthem even with the changes they have had in-house.

I had tax problems and saw an ad. I researched Anthem on Better Business and they had really good reviews. So, I went ahead and gave them a shot. I had 3 reps and they were all excellent. They're overly friendly and honest. They keep you grounded on a realistic expectation of what they can do and what you should expect out of the program. They filed a bunch of back taxes for me and represented me with the IRS over that. They cleared all that up for me and they're doing this year's tax. I was pretty pleased with the results I got, which was basically I walked away owing them nothing. Since COVID happened, I also ended up getting almost $20,000 back.
I was so pleased with Anthem although you have to be patient with them. They don't call you every day. If you want somebody to call you every day and tell you, “We're working on it,” you're not gonna get that from them. They kind of leave you in the lurch. That frustrates people. I got that from the reviews that I read before I hired them. Sometimes people expect like an attorney is gonna call every day and check in on them but that's not what attorneys do. They file the paperwork then they call you and you got something to be told. They're not going to hold your hand because it's not necessary. They're gonna do what they're gonna do but the only thing I would like is a quick message saying, “Hey, we still got you."

I'm not a tax professional, but they gave me a lot of knowledge of it and knowledge on how to maneuver a little bit. So, I'm definitely getting that advice. Working with them through this process was good. They answered the questions very directly and professionally. They did not beat around the bush. This company is also affordable. I feel a little bit leery with Anthem. But they've been in contact with me and they've been calling me back. We finally got everything settled that way. Everything was settled with my numbers. I made the payment, which was a little bit steep, but I made everything work. So far, it’s going pretty good. They call me back every time if we had questions. It was nice because they did get back with me in a timely manner. Also, they call me every time we need a document. So the communication was always back and forth. I got everything in and I’m still waiting to hear for the final outcome. They said it should take around by August or September. Maybe even longer than that because the way our situation is now with the coronavirus, the IRS is behind and everybody is playing catch up. But I know for sure that all this will be down to one payment by Christmas time. So somehow, that was good.

The guy I talked to told me what Anthem Tax Services would do and how much. I said okay and we were excited because it was a relief. But then, it took a while before someone got back with me. No one returned my call and there was no email. So, we got worried. That took a while, until I got a call from Craig. He asked me more information, which I already gave before. He said that we have to do this as soon as possible so it became a rush. So, it was kinda frustrating at first but Craig handles the case now. There were different people who got in touch with me or I called a number of times and they told me the person who was handling the case but Craig was the last one. He was able to set up something with the IRS and the state but towards the end, my wife lost her job and my hours got cut.
When my wife was working, we agreed that we could pay $1,000 a month. She's working now but she has less pay. We were hoping the payments would change and they would settle for much less. Instead, because of how much we were making back then, Craig was just trying to get us payment arrangements. He said that for now, they're gonna hold it. But his service is finished because we made arrangements with the IRS and the state. The state agreed on taking out the payments but the IRS will review it again in September and see where we’re at.

Anthem Tax Services had good reviews and then it seemed like they are pretty upfront with their fees versus everyone else. Getting started was very easy. There were different steps. In the beginning, I chose the finance option to pay for the services. Then everything started immediately. They had me sent in, what they needed and we did a financial analysis. So, that was all within the first couple of days. Then it took a little bit longer to get my offer package together. Part of that was me, I switched off, so they had to redo it again.
I just got laid off but we already submitted it. That was in April and I got a new job already. So, when we hear from the IRS again and I think they said it might be in October, we might have to resubmit my financial. But that's fine. They were very communicative if I reached out to them. I reached out to them during the pandemic, they were very responsive as far as where we are and what's going on. Everything is working out okay but this with COVID, things are delayed with the IRS. But I'm sure they're doing the best that they can. I wish it was faster though.

They settled with the IRS as far as reducing the penalties and fees, and now, they're working on a payment plan, but that’s being delayed due to IRS issues. Having worked with the government, I understand. I don’t think it's an Anthem Tax problem. I think it's a government problem and we just gotta deal with those. Everything's worked out okay so far. They were specific as to what they could do and they did everything. I had another couple of issues that they weren’t able to address, but I understand that’s not their forte. I was single, self-employed. Money was up and down over the years. So, I contacted Anthem Tax Services and I talked to a guy named Eric. Sounded like he's a good guy and he knows what he’s doing. Then I got the ball rolling, but then nothing happened for six months. Then I called back and they were like, “He doesn’t work here anymore.” Then it just became this game of like, another person would call, Patricia. Then she wouldn’t be in that department anymore, and then there was another person, and then he left. I didn’t know why they couldn’t just delegate one person.
I must have talked to eight people over a year and a half. They would say they’d call me back and nobody would. So then, I’d have to call them back again two weeks later. It was that kind of a thing till the last guy who got it buttoned up, which was cool. He jumped in and he got it finalized. But it was a little bit of a pain. I overall wasn’t very satisfied.
There’s a resolution in place, and I wanna just do what I’m supposed to do according to them. They came to a resolution with the IRS on my behalf. But, I’m going off of what they told me. I’ve never spoken to them myself. I was like, “Okay. I hope you’re right.” They also filed my 2018 taxes for me too. I paid for it, and that worked out well. It was the first time I had a CPA do it. It seemed a lot better than me doing it on TurboTax. It was the first time in nine years I didn’t owe money. I was like, “What if I’m doing it wrong?” So, I found that interesting.

We initiated contact, paid our fees in full and completed everything Anthem requested in April/May 2019. My experience has been; phone calls and emails are not returned (after several attempts,) no updates on the status of anything unless we were finally able to make contact, several people appear to have been given our case (who knows? we aren't notified,) the status of our current issue remains unknown as we still have not received any returned emails, phone calls. If we have to call the IRS directly, why did we hire Anthem Tax?
I can honestly say I do not feel confident in the outcome or supported in any step of this process. When a company is hired to represent you, that means they should show up and do so. I also do not believe it is unrealistic to expect to receive an update once a month. Over a year has passed since initiating this process. Are we close to resolution? I don't have a clue - the company we hired to represent us hasn't returned recent emails or phone calls. If you want to feel supported, have knowledge of your case, or information related to your case, educate yourself and please consider my review.

I didn't wanna deal with anybody but Katherine because she was so nice. So at the end of our process before we closed with the IRS, she was great. Daniel should be at a Fortune 500 company. He is that good. I told him I managed an 80-million-dollar portfolio and his voicemail impressed me so much that I called him and let him know that his voicemail alone will get him so many clients. Anthem Tax Services out of Los Angeles is not gonna hold on to him very much longer and I already talked to the owners about him.

Anthem appeared to be the place of choice to resolve my taxes. However, after so many months had passed and the corona virus delayed lives somewhat but it was also explained to me by their representatives that now was a good time to settle. It keeps being delayed. They were requesting 2019 Taxes way before they are due and even though I explained I needed to get this resolved here we are nearly nine months later.
It sure seems like there have been a lot of excuses to date around all the delays. I pleaded with them months ago to make it happen. Seems like there are too many people in the mix and not enough personal attention to matters at hand. Nearly 9 months has passed and we are still going nowhere with this. They collected all of my money in the first 90 days. Now they hang up and refuse to respond to my calls and requests for a refund. Horrible experience to have to deal with when you owe the IRS and now that more time has passed Anthem Tax Services.

The representative I worked with at Anthem was Ron, and the service was really good up to three weeks ago. He told me that the state of Hawaii where I live had removed the penalty fee of my payments, around $9,000 of penalties, which was great, and I would be receiving a new bill. I've never received a new bill. All I've been receiving is more, and now they're threatening to attach my things. I might have to just go and pay that, or go down there myself and see what's going on.
I've called them and told them repeatedly. I haven’t gotten a return call back until yesterday. He apparently wasn’t there anymore. And they got a new phone system which is terrible. I've never gotten anybody when I've called them. I've gotten a recording that says that they're on the line or they're away from their phone and to leave a message, and press either pound or 2 or 3, and they don’t return it.
The tax keeps adding up and I said, “I paid $5,000 for your services, and if this is the way it is, I want some of that money back.” And I said, “Apparently, I'm not getting the relief of the $9,000 in penalties,” so then they called some more and talked to them some more. And the state says, now, they're gonna send them a new thing. I got an email back from a guy at Anthem who said that he called them again and they said they would send another email with its new tax to them. So, that’s it. I haven’t really heard anything and it was very frustrating. In order for me to get a call back from them, I called to threaten that I was gonna give them a bad rating.
On their recording it says, “We know how hard it is when you're dealing with the tax because it's very frustrating and it means a change in your life.” It was hard dealing with them. They wouldn’t call me back. It was even more frustrating because I paid $5,000 for their services. So, it was really good dealing with him, but then I haven’t been able to talk to him for three weeks, I don't know what's going on. All I want is an answer or a phone call back and for them to follow up. I offered to go down to the office myself, at the tax office and talk to them and say, “Hey, you guys said you were gonna remove the penalty.” And they told me not to.

My experience with Anthem is not the greatest. They ask me no question, there's no communication, and they need to give a little more clarity on what it is they actually do. Evidently, as it appears to me, what they do is simply to be more like an agent. "We just do your taxes and get them all together to make sure you're all filed and everything," is not what I was wanting to have done. I had to resubmit a lot of things I had submitted. We started something way back in 2017 and we're now getting it finished out this year. They weren't real responsive. I called to speak with someone and ask the questions and it would go to the voicemail, which might take a week, 2 weeks, or even more for them to get back to me. The rep might have had the explanations in the head when I enrolled but maybe they didn't listen to what I was really looking for and do. They were doing what they do and not what I was wanting them to do.

I had a different tax lawyer in previous years and they screwed me over. So, we were looking at some and asking people around. Anthem Tax Services had some pretty good reviews so we decided to go with them. The whole process was nerve-racking. They were better in communicating. If I would pick them up, they would get back to me at a decent time. It was a good overall experience, especially since the outcome was what it was, with them offering compromise expenses. Whenever I talked especially with Daniel, he wasn’t getting annoyed with my questions. I would be freaking out ‘cause I did something and when I called them, it would be kind of, “It’s okay, bro. This is just what it is here.” He’d be understanding and explained what was going on.
I've been going through this tax issue for almost 10 years and going through it is life-changing because you feel like less of a man because this thing is looming over your life. When that releases, I’m like you’re like, “Oh, yes! I don’t have to put this on nobody." There’s no burden for my wife or the family that we want to have. It was an amazing experience to have that.

I'm 74 years old and so, that was the reason I went with him. I was impressed with his knowledge. He put me at ease. We owed a considerable amount and had very little means, if any, to pay it. They explained how IRS goes through these accounts every so many years and that was how they reviewed things. So, that has taken a load off my shoulders especially after losing my husband so suddenly back in November. I'm very happy.
They were looking for some data from me right now. If I could have talked to someone at that time and ahold of anyone other than the person that the account was turned over to at the last, I could have gotten the data to them and I would have been in better shape. But this person said they would call me back and send me an email, their email but I never got it. I had to call and ask for them, and I never got ahold of them. So, I was not happy. Eventually, I got ahold of someone who was a CPA. And they went through everything with me and just told me to just chill and get the information to them. Right after that, I had a real bad spell of cellulitis in both legs and I've had to stay in bed, be propped up for almost over a month now. So, I've not been able to get some stuff to them.

When I was looking for help online, I found some statistics that rated Anthem above other well-known agencies. I had an issue that came up where I owed back taxes because of a W-2 that I didn’t know existed that I received a couple of years late and payment that I owed taxes from a few years ago. Had I been richer, I might’ve just paid it, but I’m not so I needed help with it. I didn’t know how to begin to address the problem. The people at Anthem answered every question and they were always completely open and fair. They did a really good job of explaining to me the process that would occur and what I needed to do about it. They gave me guidance in every way. My issue was satisfactorily resolved. It’s a huge relief to have Anthem behind me and to have things work out so well.

I had some tax issues with multiple years of tax issues and finally got to where they contacted my employer who contacted me saying I'm gonna be garnished. And so, I went online and found Anthem Tax Services. They dropped the ball a little bit in that I was placed on the backburner a little bit. They were a little slow as far as on my end so that I got additional problems from the IRS. But it was a complicated thing dealing with the IRS. It was not a quick thing. My employer contacted me again saying, “Hey, look, you’re about to get garnished.” But as soon as I contacted Anthem, they got right in gear and we got everything done. I owed like a little more than twenty grand, and I would up getting about $3,000 back. So, it was a $23,000 difference, and it was multiple years. It was fantastic. I intend to use them to file my regular taxes this year.
Joe was the initial person who contacted me and had other people working under him that took care of various aspects of it. It went through several people, but they were all working together. I’m not super tech savvy, but I just had to email back and forth and be able to scan and attach stuff. That was all I was required to do. And then, I signed things. Also, they’re in Los Angeles and I'm in San Diego. It’s a couple of hours away, but I never had to leave my house dealing with them.

My brother told me about them Anthem and when I called them, I was freaking out. I was scared and I didn’t know what on earth was going on. But they were very calming and reassuring. The rep kept telling me, “We can take care of this. We’ve been through this. You’re gonna be okay, just breathe.” They kept telling me to breathe, “It’ll be okay. We’re gonna get through this, and I’m sure we can help you this far and possibly this far.” Sure enough, everything they said worked out. Their process was great. I wish I would have known my husband had a mess, but I didn’t know that. So, once I found out I was in a mess, these people were really good and very helpful. They always responded and were very self-explaining even to me who knew nothing about it. They did a great job and they've gotten most of the stress out. I was very impressed.

My experience with Anthem Tax Services has been wonderful. They seemed to have a better rating so I went with them and their enrollment process was simple. They provided tax service to stop the IRS collection and the program worked 100%. The IRS made an oopsie and I got upset at them, but the program was very good. They communicated well and they worked with me every step of the way. We’re still doing one little piece, but other than that, I'm done. They were great and they really helped me.

My update on this company. I was in need of help with my tax issue due to me wanting to buy a house this year. Called and spoken with Greg. The experience didn’t go so well. I wrote a review about my experience. Within 24 hours I had a response from Misty. Awesome customer service. She made it right even though I have choose to go with another company due to my bad experience with one person in the company. After talking with Misty I can tell this company really cares about how the customer feels and want to help any kinda way they can.

The gentleman who tried to help me with my taxes was great, but all of the sellers leading up to that was awful. And I don't think that I've gotten my money's worth. The primary reason that I contacted Anthem is because of support with a tax burden and I got no support whatsoever. They set me up with a tax accountant that was incredibly helpful and responsive. He was able to help me with what I needed. But there were some follow-up things that were required. They helped me with filing back taxes which I probably could have done with a software program. But the thousands of dollars that are owed based on just filling out a form is still a debt that I have to address. And I'm back at the position where, "Oh, don't call a tax service on your own." But now, I'm calling a tax service on my own. It's sad. I wouldn't let anybody use Anthem. I'm fortunate I had the upfront money to pay them, but the fee was astronomical.

Hi Jeffrey-
You had hired us to file your 2015-2018 tax returns which we had done for you. Because you had paid in 0 taxes to the IRS and State...you owed.
Unfortunately, when we file tax returns...we can't make a debt disappear. That would lead to an audit.
Please contact us directly so we can try and walk you through everything we filed.

This company actively engaged me when they wanted my money. I will say that everyone I had contact with at that time was courteous and friendly. Once I paid the 10K, I was met with stonewalls. The legal department has no sense of customer service. How can someone cough up 10k and not have a session with her attorney? NOT ONE! I have not once spoken to an attorney. I was sent 2 messages via her secretary. I don't know what's happening to my case. I know it's on hold at IRS but I did that bit myself before I contacted Anthem. I'm unaware of the ramification of that hold. No one has talked to me.
They promised that I wouldn't get a lien and that I could pay pennies on a dollar. Well, I don't know what to do or how to proceed because no one is updating me. If I had hired an independent attorney or even paid IRS 10k, I probably would be in better shape today. I sent an email in November and to date there has been no response. I will NEVER recommend them to anyone. The Legal department sucks and the sales team overpromised.

The service they provided was exactly what they claimed. They did stop garnishment of my pay. The process did take longer than I expected and although the result was a cease of the garnishment, it seemed like immediately after my case was closed a tax lien was filed. I have had trouble reaching my case managers by email and phone. When I do receive a return they seem to not address all the concerns of my initial communication.

Never calling me back until I called and called and called and advised I would be making a formal complaint. This company is horrible to work with and did nothing to ease my mind as indicated in their hold message. I had an issue with my 2016 tax statement and the IRS had serviced me a notice saying that I should pay some additional amounts. I believed that the IRS was incorrect. It was misleading some of my filings. And part of the demand for the amount was incorrect and I wanted to have it resolved. I approached Anthem because they had a good rating on multiple sources.
I was asked to submit an amount for the service and file some papers. I was made to understand that it was immediate and I did that. After that, there was a very big gap before I heard back and I had to follow up multiple times. Also, my case was reassigned a couple of times. So, I felt like I had to restart the whole conversation, explain the same things twice to two of those who were assigned to handle the case with me. But eventually, it was assigned to one person and he was rather prompt. He also made a mistake because he was not very familiar with the details of my case and filed a response that was inaccurate. I had to kind of step through all the reasons why it was inaccurate and he filed another response. Eventually, the outcome that I wanted to achieve was achieved. I wish that had happened sooner with fewer interactions and a lower cost of time and effort for me. But overall, I’m happy because that was achieved.

After what I just went through with Jake S. (I believe he is one of the 2 owners of Anthem Tax Services) I have to question his and his company's honesty and integrity. He lied to me numerous times deliberately. We hired Anthem Tax Services and after our case was closed we received an email from Jake Shulman promising a hefty $100 Visa gift card if we leave reviews on 4 sites, Yelp.com, bescompany.com, thecreditreview.com, consumeraffairs.com. Who wouldn't write a glowing review for $100? Unfortunately this whole thing turned into a nightmare with lies and lies and more lies from Jake Shulman. This man has no honesty, no integrity. And if he is not honest how can his company be? I also have to wonder, is he doing this very same thing what he did to me to other people? Maybe nobody says anything because they think $50 gift card is better than nothing. But it's not only about the money. A deal is a deal and a promise is a promise.
The deal was, I post reviews on 4 sites and in exchange for my work and time Anthem Tax Services sends me a $100 gift card. But it's not what happened. Here is the story: - On September 25, 2019 I've received an email from Anthem Tax Services, from Jake Shulman, promising a $100 VISA gift card if I post a review on 4 websites. - On Sept. 28 I've sent Jake an email letting him it was done. Some days later we received only $50 gift card instead of the promised $100. - On October 7th I wrote an email to Jake Shulman requesting the missing $50 gift card. No reply received. - On October 17th I wrote another email to Jake Shulman asking why did we receive only $50 Visa gift card? Jake wrote me back the same day saying "I’m so sorry! I don’t know why you were only sent $50. I will absolutely get you the other $50 sent out ASAP. Apologies!"
- On October 27th, after 10 days went by and no visa gift card came, I wrote Jake Shulman another email asking if Anthem Tax Services still intends to send the missing / promised $50 visa gift card? Again, I received a reply from Jake the same day, saying "Wow. Okay. I’m so sorry. I will be sending them out myself tomorrow. I apologize. This is not okay. I’ll get you a tracking number tomorrow." - On October 29th, two days later, still no tracking number received so another email followed to Jake now asking for the tracking number. - On October 30th I received a reply from Jake, "Hey Erika- Just got to the office. I was looking at the reviews and it appears the reason why you only got $50 was because you only wrote reviews on yelp and consumer affairs. In order to receive the $100 gift card you had to of written reviews on. If you wouldn’t mind writing reviews on those websites then we would be more than happy to send out the difference."
- I wrote him back right away letting him know that we posted the reviews, as Anthem Tax Services required, on all 4 sites and I included screen shots about all 4 websites with the reviews. - Same day Jake wrote me back saying "That’s so bizarre! I couldn’t find them when I went to go search for them. But, clearly there’s proof based on your email. Give me 20 minutes and I’ll have that tracking number for you!" By that time I was really tired of the back and forth writing and did not have a good feeling about this whole thing. If Jake Shulman would've looked at the review websites there is no way he would've missed them. Anyway, I am a nice person and still gave him the benefit of the doubt.
- On October 30th Jake gave me a tracking number for USPS. "Hey Erika- Here’s your tracking number for USPS: **. Thank you for your patience!" When I tried to track the Visa gift card the following day through USPS, it showed me that shipping label / tracking number was created but the item was not yet shipped. So I sent another email to Jake asking about the status of the Visa card. - Same day on October 31st Jake wrote me back saying "Hey Erika- I don’t know what the disconnect is. It shows that it’s our for delivery." What?? How could it be out for delivery when the tracking system still showing as of October 31st in the afternoon: Tracking History October 30, 2019, 9:36 pm Shipping Label Created, USPS Awaiting Item WOODLAND HILLS, CA 91367 A shipping label has been prepared for your item at 9:36 pm on October 30, 2019 in WOODLAND HILLS, CA 91367.
This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date. October 30, 2019 Pre-Shipment Info Sent to USPS, USPS Awaiting Item Also, even if Jake would've shipped the Visa card on October 30th as he said (lied) he did, how could it be out for delivery the very next day from California to New Mexico? Another red flag. After Jake wrote me that as per his information the Visa card is out for delivery on October 31th, I wrote him that as per USPS the item WAS NOT yet dropped off at the post office. I mean how hard can it be to read a simple tracking history? Jake wrote me back. "It is shipped out. I just provided you a picture of the details showing it being out for delivery/delivered to you today. I have no reason to not send it to you? Yes the tracking number was created yesterday. Remember. I said I would have it sent out yesterday. It was shipped out yesterday."
Jake even sent me a picture as "proof" that he sent out the visa card. His "proof" showed "October 30, 2019 Tracking number created", that's it. I've sent Jake another email asking him to enter the tracking number into USPS tracking system and send me a screenshot about what he sees. I even inserted the USPS tracking link into the email to make it easier for him. I've never heard back from Jake Shulman again. - Today is November 8th and, of course, I did not receive the missing $50 visa gift card. The tracking number was for someone else, whatever Anthem Tax Services shipped to someone to Chico, CA. I gave Jake our mailing address twice, I wrote him we live in NM. Tracking History November 2, 2019, 1:32 pm Delivered CHICO, CA 95926. If someone enters the tracking number Jake gave me into USPS's tracking system, it is clearly showing Jake lied when he said he shipped out the gift card on October 30th.
The item was actually dropped off at the Woodland Hills, CA post office on October 31st 7:44 pm. and two days later it was delivered to someone in Chico, CA. and not to NM. Tracking number ** October 31, 2019, 7:44 pm. Accepted at USPS Origin Facility WOODLAND HILLS, CA 91367. As I said earlier, Jake Shulman is one of the two owners of Anthem Tax Services. This is a company we've shared our bank account information with and also our social security numbers. Now I am concerned if our personal information is secure with them at all if they are willing to risk their reputation, their integrity for $50? I also have to wonder if all their reviews are legit or are most of them bought and paid for?

Ericka, we are happy we were able to help with your back taxes with the IRS. We are sorry to hear about the issues with the gift cards and the misunderstanding. There was a shipping issue and we are working on resolving the shipping issue promptly. Thank You

I first spoke to Robert in November last year. Interactions with them has not been awesome but it has not been terrible per se too. It's been okay, but I had to pursue them.
They haven't finished the service yet. It's just a tax thing. They should have finished it already. I've spoken with other companies since and they said they would have it done in three months at the most. With Anthem Tax, we're going on 12. The payment was also too much. Also, what they're doing for me has nothing to do with my credit score, but my credit score has gone down since they've helped me. I would not recommend them.

We had been using a tax guy for four years, but somebody let us know that they were shutting him down. We were a little concerned that maybe there were some problems. So we had a different tax guy and we had him look our tax documents over and he found some fairly major errors. I got Anthem involved since if we owed this money, we were gonna pay it and we were hoping we didn’t have to have a lot of penalties and interest on top of it. The guy that we talked to thought it was worthwhile looking into and that he would check into it. But we ended up being very disappointed. It was never given to anybody specific except for the guy that we talked to, and he never turned it over to anybody else. I realized that nobody was getting back to us.
After back and forth phone calls, I finally got to talk to somebody, but we got a runaround for a long time. We started getting letters from the IRS, and the first two were for the first two years of those four years. They said they were already out of the statute of limitation, and they couldn’t do anything about them. Anthem sent us the bills of what we owe them. I ended up talking with the agent again and told him what was going on. It was a lot of runaround and we didn’t seem to be getting any help. We had a deadline and we had to pay them. I decided we were gonna pay them and the agent said to try one more time. But nobody even got back to us to see if they were even trying one more time. The agent told us that they could pay me back, but I’m not even concerned about the money. I just wanted pay our bill right then. That was the last I heard of them. We’re very dissatisfied. We ended up paying our bills and got it all done.
The guy that we were dealing was really on top of it and he was gonna really help us, but he didn’t carry through. When I tried to get ahold of people, it took forever to be able to actually talk to a person. There were a lot of promises that were not getting through. One time, they said they were gonna get back to us in one or two hours. But they never got back to us at all. If they’re gonna process something, they should try to do their best to carry through on it. Or at least communicate and say that they’re not gonna carry through another. Communication goes a long way and there was a lot of lack in communication between us and Anthem. We gave them money and they didn’t provide the service. I won’t do that again.

I was looking for individual tax obligation for my husband and ended up getting Anthem Tax Services. Enrollment process was where they were most effective at. They were very responsive, provided a lot of details and they returned calls very quickly. They were available for appointments, very timely. They walked us through the process and did an analysis of our income as well as our bills. They gave us some idea of what we could expect from that experience, then they asked for 6,500 bucks to get started.
Now, we have negotiated a payment arrangement. I’ve had payment arrangements with the IRS before, but Anthem told us that after five years of on time payment, the rest of the balance would be forgiven, but the documentation we got from the IRS did not say the same. I asked the woman who represented herself as an attorney from Anthem why they didn’t say the same thing, and she said, “No, it’s absolutely such.” I also asked if I file taxes and my husband was previously unemployed and now employed, if they would up the amount, and she said they would not. I have it all documented and we just made our first payment.
However, once we paid, they were not responsive. I was filling out paperwork and I sent them back. I didn’t hear back for a month, and then I called and said, “We had messages that didn’t get returned.” And then I sent emails and they responded and said, “We needed other documents.” Why didn’t someone return all of my messages? I thought they were already negotiating on our behalf. So, from an experience perspective, I wouldn’t recommend them. I’m leery with what they’ve given me but I’m cautiously optimistic.

I was googling different services and Anthem Tax Services was one of the top ones and they had an A++ with Better Business Bureau. I researched them, I looked at the Better Business Bureau website and it was correct. I read through countless bunch of reviews versus their reviews and a couple of other sites' reviews. And they seemed to be genuine, not like a bot created, and that was why I went with them. The rep I worked with was very professional. We had an efficient communication. The program they set me up with was good. The process was a little lengthy but it went very smoothly. So far, they've been responsive and I'm happy.

From what I had seen when I was reading to see who looked good, Anthem Tax Services had some positive feedback that they did what they said they were gonna do and people settled for pennies on the dollar. When I had spoken to another company and I didn't make my decision quickly they harassed me. Anthem Tax didn't so I went with them. They did what they said they were supposed to. They were very kind and answered my questions.
Anthem was able to make sure that the creditors were not gonna drain the bank accounts and then got the revenue officer to discuss the whole process. After speaking with the initial gentleman and they got things started, I paid their fee. I was given a case manager and then I had the attorney, but when I called up or emailed, I didn't get an answer. That was a little frustrating because I’m still getting letters and I thought that was not supposed to happen. If they say I have a case manager, then they shouldn't call me back about 48 hours later. There were times that it was an entire week, which was a very long time. If they have that much work, then they need to hire some other people because nobody should wait that long without an answer of some sort.
Some of their people were absolutely wonderful though. They asked what my problem was and they investigated and got me the information I had been calling about. But there was one individual that put me in the file drawer and disappeared so I’m now working directly with the attorney, which is not the way they normally do it, but at least it keeps things moving along.

I hired Anthem in August. They did some work for me and in late August, they told me that they had a result, and it would take a month or two to get everything to me, and it’s now October. I haven’t seen anything. I called them and they told me everything is fine, but I don’t have anything in writing from them telling me that it’s fine. They told me they produced result, yet they haven’t given me anything to demonstrate that. As far as I know, they haven’t even contacted the government. They said they have, but I haven’t got any proof of anything.
One of the things they touted in their marketing was, that it’s very important to move quickly, and that they would immediately get a copy of my transcripts and then evaluate it, and advise me of what they felt should be done. And they haven’t done it. I said, “Send me copies of what you sent them.” I gave them a bunch of information, and they haven’t sent me anything that they’ve sent. I’ve demanded specifically that they give me copies of their contact with the IRS, and they haven’t. Surely, they’ve sent them my material if they’ve settled the case already and I’ve got nothing from the IRS, nothing from Social Security and nothing from Anthem, except when I call them. And they were very prompt up until this week. I intend to start raising hell. I just sent them a scorcher, meaning an angry letter. I corresponded with them for a month trying to get some answers and I’m not getting them, and I’m disgusted. So, I’m threatening to turn them in.
There’s just so much corruption and so much theft. You don’t know who to trust and I trusted Joe, the rep I worked with. He was telling me about how he was gonna stay on top of it, and now, he’s not returning my calls. It looks like a fraud. It looks like a scam. I intend to contact the Attorney General and the State Bar of California. I just hope they haven’t ripped me off from my money. I gave them until tomorrow and if they don’t respond, their problems with me have just begun. But if they’ve done what they said, I’m prepared to praise them.

Right away, Anthem Tax Services made me feel like I was not the only one in the world with a problem. When they told me how they were gonna do this, I was very relieved. The enrollment process for the individual tax service was a little hard to understand at first but once I got going, it went really well. Their rep was excellent. He checked with me, sent me a lot of emails, let me know what was going on, and kept me up to date on things that were happening. Whenever he needed anything, he would always send me an email or call me, and we would get it done as quick as we could. It was good.

Anthem helped file my taxes and help me deal with some back taxes. Their enrollment process was quick. The only thing I didn't really like was their reps didn't contact me as often as I would like to be. And they moved locations without even telling me. I couldn't get through on their old numbers so I had to look them up just to call them. They should have called me and told me at least. Also, the agent that I had before just quit so I had to talk to a bunch of different people but they moved faster from the other person that quit since they still had the same information. It worked out a bit better towards the end. I was just wondering what was going on because nobody called me. Their customer relations wasn't the worst but they could improve on it. I'm still on the process of completing their program. They're still working on trying to negotiate but they're finally getting it done. I just wish there would be more communications.

I did some online research into the matrix of organizations that handles tax debt and Anthem had a better consumer report history, on top of the fact that they were the longest standing firm that does that type of tax relief because they’ve been in business for a long time. Plus, they have amazing customer reviews and it was the largest company out of all of them. All in all, the online research that I did just made Anthem stand out. The service and the program that Anthem provided was great at the time but later on, I even felt better about my choice to go with them because I continuously got more advertisements from other companies that try to make me offers to settle the tax relief, and not a single one of them could even come close to what Anthem was able to do.
The program alleviated a lot of anxiety and stress that has caused myself and my wife over the amount of debt that I had accrued over ignoring my taxes for so long. It has been a couple of months now that we’ve made the payment. We were contacted by several different people later on after not hearing for a while from the original person handling my case and then eventually, the original manager ended up taking our case over, and she made sure that everything was gonna go according to plan. It was confusing for a couple of months because of the change in ownership of our case but when the manager took over, she went above and beyond to make sure that we got everything in on time and we were satisfied. So, she did a stellar job.
I wish there was more communication and updates though because regardless of the change in who was handling the case, when we would reach out, sometimes we wanna get a response back and it seemed to take a while to get a response back or repeated emails, or attempts to contact, to find out just the progress of everything. The end result was amazing and I couldn’t be happier but the process and the confusion of the change of ownership of our case was like an extra stress or almost for a moment. Still, my experience with Anthem exceeded my expectations.

I've been in communication with different people from there, and they all seemed professional and thorough. They keep good notes because every phone call I've had with them, they can refer back to those. I owed a lot of back taxes, and I called some of the competitors and personally interviewed with the other companies. I felt like after talking to enough people that Anthem Tax Services made the most sense and also, because they were located in Southern Cal, I could’ve got to their location if I had to. I checked them out, I vetted them thoroughly. They seemed very reputable, they had good reviews, so I went with them.
Joseph, the guy who led me, gave me his cell number and told me to call him anytime. I’ve taken all the information from everybody I talked to, and then I tried to throw them a curve to see how they answered. He was thorough, answered all the questions, kinda enlightened me and explained to me thoroughly the different ways that they would potentially handle my case. Then, he figured out a proposal but the price was based on me kinda knowing the plan of attack and what to expect. He returned calls immediately, which was very comforting, and met his appointments on time. Joseph took our case and presented it to their on-staff lawyers, the term and price, and the plan of attack. Then there was another person that I dealt with from that point on. He and his assistant were very good and professional. So, we got a very favorable result from the IRS.
Working with Anthem has affected my life a lot. We were close to the point of things being on liens and after we signed up with them, we the power of attorney for them to talk to the IRS. They called immediately that first day, established who they were, what measures we were gonna take to meet our obligation. So, they gave us peace of mind that it was being handled, and that we weren’t gonna be subjected to abuse from the IRS.

Mr. Rosa, we are delighted you are pleased with your outcome of your case. Thank you for taking the time to provide your experience with us and the reasons you choose Anthem Tax Services.

I was getting notices from the IRS, and I ended up with Anthem after going on the Better Business Bureau website and taking the recommendation of the highest-rated tax relief. I also went by the feedback from other customers, and Anthem was there with minimal consumer complaints. I worked with Roger and we usually communicated through email and phone calls if necessary. They guided us along the way and they were very flexible as far as payment was concerned. My husband was having a wage garnishment at that time, and they were very accommodating if we had to miss a payment, putting it off for a couple of weeks or a month. They were able to negotiate with the IRS for a more reasonable payment, a reduction in how much we owe, and to consolidate my husband and I’s debt into one payment. I’m only into the second month of payment with the IRS and we’ve already paid Anthem off.

Gina, thank you for your informative review of your experience. We are delighted you are happy with the outcome and pleased to have worked with you.

I went with Anthem because of representations that their agent had made to me on the telephone about their service. I got them for my business and individual taxes. During enrollment, they sent me a contract, I signed it and they had somebody call me to get additional information. Their program is finally completed and I have an agreement with the Internal Revenue Service. However, I don't think that they did all the things that I was told they would do. I have no record and I received no response to my questions about that. They were hard to get in touch with, and I understand that it takes a day to get back to somebody, but I don't understand the gap in time that it took for them to return my calls. I also don't understand why they never did a complete review of my tax liability.
What they did, I could have done because as far as I'm concerned, they didn't do anything. I'm paying the tax bill now and I have no reduction. I don't know if I was even entitled to a reduction. The one reduction that I did get was because of something I brought to the Internal Revenue Service's attention, not anything that Anthem Tax did. As far as I'm concerned, I could have saved the $5,000 and just applied that towards my tax. I would have been better off doing that. They also mentioned that if I was not satisfied, they would give me a refund. When I call for a refund, I'm put on hold, nobody comes to the phone or I'm transferred to somebody else.

My experience with Anthem was great. I had a tax issue with the IRS that needed to be resolved and they had some good reviews online, and so that’s who I went with. The enrollment process was a simple phone call, and I talked to a gentleman named Mark, and had a good conversation with him, and then got led to my actual case attorney where I worked directly with to resolve the problem.
There were times though where I had to try and phone the same person five times a day and kinda kept record of it. It was like over and over. And some emails weren’t responded to. Some phone calls weren’t returned as well. If I were to name one thing that I wish could have been a little bit differently, obviously, the responsiveness to calls or emails. But I'm not one to be picky. Everyone did great and I'm completely satisfied. I was very happy all around with the folks that I worked with and I felt like it was a very smooth process. The resolution that we had in mind was met. And so after some sort of battle, we were able to come up with a resolution with the IRS. And so, I'm in a position now where I consider it resolved. And that’s the important part.

Back in 2015, I was an independent contractor and I filed and had back taxes that came back. Anthem ended up helping me get that on hold, and then I could pay it back when I could. I had heard a lot of good things about them, like they were very thorough and fairly timely. I started in December, but then finished up within the last three weeks. My situation wasn’t something that I wanted to have dragged out, and it was fairly quick. The enrollment was a little pushy, but I understand that it’s business and I sought them out, and I get the pressure in terms of wanting to get something started and going. I was selling a house to an attorney and he told me there were numerous judgments against my piece of property. He sent some clerk to an office in Virginia Beach to check things out but he didn’t know what he was doing because he’s a criminal attorney. I didn’t trust any of the tax attorneys in my area so, I looked online and I read the review and I liked what I read, so I called Anthem Tax Services.
Once I talked to the rep, I decided he was the man I wanted to have. We talked for 20 minutes that day and I told him that I was very concerned about this guy. He immediately got on it and his paralegal was wonderful. She returned my call every time I left a message. She called me three times and asked why I was doing it, and said that the IRS had nothing against me. I said I was told I had anywhere from 40 to 80 things against me dating back 30 years. Nothing was newer than 10 years and it clearly stated in IRS laws that if they don’t do something in 10 years, it goes away. So, anything that had been against me had gone away but it cost me $10,000 to get the rep from Anthem to search this out.
I was livid with the attorney. I have not closed on the house yet and he has about a week. At that point, he loses the option of buying that house. He was gonna lose $45,000 on a house that’s worth 440 and this was what he has paid over five years. He came up with a new contract that was in his brother’s name, his name, and my name, but his brother never signed the contract so that makes it null and void. Also, they gave me a check not made out to me. He has given me checks many times under my name, so he did that knowing that it was wrong. Then, he gave me a deposit check that clearly states on it, “Do not deposit this check under any circumstances.” With the help of the rep from Anthem, I got through this. He did what he was supposed to and Anthem could not have been better. I have paid Anthem in full and I’m done with the process. Working with them gave me peace of mind.

Anthem Tax Services was right at number two on the internet. I also read a bunch of reviews. They had handled a lot of people in Texas, everybody seemed to be satisfied. And they didn't wanna bunch of money upfront. They had a set price. I called them and talked to David. He said, "Let me look into your stuff." He got back to me in about a week, said they could help me. He gave me a set price and stayed with what they said, got the job done, did a good job, other than the fact the government made it harder because of the government shutdown. I would have had it settled sooner, but nobody could control that. And did me a great job, and I'm more than satisfied.
The communication with David was really good. The fact that they hadn't said, "you need to send in a bunch of money before we do anything." But they said, "Let me look at your program and see what I can do for you, and then we'll give you an idea." And the guarantee was really nice. He said, "If I can't help you, I'll give all your money back." That was a real plus. He also said if they couldn't get something done for me, they wouldn't charge me. They'd refund my money. And it's hard to beat a deal like that.

They did what they said they would do and got rid of those credit card debts. At this point, the process is completed. Working with them took care of a problem and gave relief.

Anthem Tax Services is representing us with the IRS. We felt that the IRS had acted unfairly and had deceived us. They have encouraged us not to use anybody and they didn't honor their word on some situation. I reached out to Anthem Tax Services and what they said was very assuring. They listened to the situation and based on that, they felt that there was definitely something that could be done.
Enrolling with Anthem was fairly easy. And once we were enrolled, they picked it up and ran with it. We had been told that we had a successful solution. We've also signed all the documents and we're waiting on the IRS to react. I've talked with the officer several times and they assured me that they were behind and it just takes some time and that he will be forthcoming. Anthem's reps were very understanding. They got back to us and responded in our questions and correspondence. I'm very pleased.

The IRS took money out of my wife's account, so I had to get somebody to help me. I went to Clark Howard's website, and he had Anthem rated number one. They stopped the charge on my wife's savings account and they got the IRS to quit taking money out of my social security, so I'm way ahead of the game. I got the IRS off my back, so that's great. I worked with Daniel at Anthem and he was very good. He was very calm, very reassuring, and easygoing. He took care of everything. I've got a non-collectible status and we're gonna keep it that way.

I felt like they took advantage of me when I was already in financial peril with the IRS. They charged me 4k to file my unfiled taxes and then another 8k to negotiate with the IRS - in addition I had to pay the 8k (or at least sign up to pay it) before they ever told me what I was going to get - or how much I would end up owing the IRS. So now, I owe the IRS and Anthem Tax Services.

I looked into a rent-to-own home and they told me to do the Anthem Tax Service to help my credit. If I had known what Anthem was gonna charge me, I could have paid the taxes with that. It ended up being ridiculous and so, I still haven’t got my taxes paid. They originally told me it was $1,000 but it ended up being $1,800. I wish I had that amount to pay on this when they told me that they could get this taken care of. This was a couple of years ago and they kept telling me that they would do my next year free. I had to call them several times and they wouldn’t return my calls. The customer service wasn’t good at all and I still owe $4,000.

Velda- after looking at your case recently...you only had hired us to file your missing tax returns for 2013-2016. We weren't hired for any other services but to file your returns. It also shows that on the service agreement you had signed with us.

Anthem did a better job than the other tax service that I was with. Back then I felt like I was getting ripped off and Anthem's team helped me out with everything. I enrolled and got an individual tax preparation service from them. It was really messed up on my part 'cause some of those years I didn't file then I didn't file so they had to go through my taxes for me from way back. Still, they got it done for me. Also, I bought a house last year, and there was some kind of paperwork I needed from the IRS. I had a hard time getting through. I called Anthem and they handled it for me. Since working with them, I've been staying on top of my taxes a lot better than I was. Overall, Anthem did everything they said they were gonna do. They were upfront with me about what they couldn't do.

An absolute idiot attorney didn’t know what he was doing, and he had somebody look up my record and said that I had 30 judgments against me. The attorney said that there must be some kind of mistake and I told him it was on his end. It cost me $10,000 to use Anthem to prove I didn’t have anything. I’ve lived here in Virginia Beach all my life and I didn’t trust anybody. I wasn’t happy with the alternatives here and I went online. Lo and behold, I saw Anthem. I called and I enjoyed talking with the rep. I figured he would help me and he sure did. He was a wonderful person and his staff were terrific. I had them do an individual tax preparation and checking to see if I owed the IRS anything, which I didn’t. They kept calling and asking why I was having them do it. I told them that the attorney said I needed to. He couldn’t close on a house that I was selling because I had all these things against it.
Vanessa, the Anthem tax specialist, was terrific and I loved her. She always got back to me within a day, which was not unreasonable. She always knew exactly what I needed to do. Anthem did exactly what they were supposed to in a very timely manner and I couldn’t ask for anything better. If I used an attorney in my own area, I couldn’t have had anybody doing better than what Anthem did. I’ve completed the program with them but I misunderstood exactly how much I owed or what the deal was and I still owe them $4,000. I paid them $6,000. I have no qualms over that and it’s over with, that’s all I care about.

I owed almost $20,000 in taxes from selling some land and stuff that I hadn't paid going through a divorce. So, I got audited and I ended up paying their fee plus $100 to the IRS. It was a two-year probation plan with the IRS and those I filed on time. I never had to pay that back. Anthem's process was easy. I gave them my information then I paid the fee and they handled everything from there. Right now, I have been trying to get some returns from last year and Josh is still helping me with that even though my deal with them was already done and over with. He’s been capable of handling everything I needed, always gets back to me in a timely manner, and handles my business. All in all, I was very satisfied with my experience with Anthem.

Updated on 7/31/2019: The team at Anthem Tax Services have responded positively to my grievances and proceeded to work on the issues that I experienced which I reported about them here. I understand now that the frustrations that I experienced were not due to their inability to perform the tasks, as they promised, on my behalf but it's due to some understandable circumstances. With my input of some missing information I am very hopeful that now they are doing their best to help me reach a positive resolution on my case.
Original Review: I’m very disappointed with Anthem Tax. They do not respond to any of my calls. I left messages, and I texted them. I emailed a letter that I received from the IRS regarding the case that they’re working on for me, and I heard nothing back. I don’t know why they don’t respond. I called three different people that I spoke with in the past from Anthem Tax, and nothing. I started with them six months ago and it's supposed to be ending, but I don’t know what the status is. In the meantime, I don’t know how to respond to the letter that I’ve received from the IRS. Anthem Tax doesn’t seem to care at all. It surprised me because prior to this, I thought everything was going okay.

I did some research online as to which was the best company and I was extremely leery because I’ve heard of people who have had not gotten great results with this particular thing. The enrollment process with Anthem Tax Services was extremely smooth. At the time, I worked in an office and all the paperwork had to be emailed to them. They sent out a checklist of everything that they wanted. I started off with a guy named Charlie and then I went to the attorney’s assistant. Then from there, once the case was handled, I spoke directly with the attorney twice. She kept me up-to-date on where my case was going.
I thought I only owed $26,000 in taxes and had been paying $528 a month and it was choking me. By going through Anthem, I found out that I actually owed $44,000. I got my taxes done for 2018, which ended up being $19,000. I had already been with Anthem then. They caught me and wanted to charge me a little bit more money and now, they gotta do a year that wasn’t included in my original plan with them. But when I spoke to the attorney and explained my situation, that I had already borrowed money to be able to do this, she did 2018 for free and put it in the plan. And I got $64,000 in taxes that are in non-collectible status, which is really a great thing right now.
My boss died. I worked there for 16 years and have never been unemployed in my life. Because of my unemployment, the attorney was able to get the taxes set to a non-collectible status, but I was prepared to make payments on it. I had a wonderful experience with Anthem Tax Services and I’m done with the program right now as long as I don’t start making a whole lot of money. But the attorney told me that I will continue to be a client and that they would keep my case in a paused status. If for any reason I get another job and the IRS comes back for me, I could reopen my case at any time.

It was about tax time and I figured since they were in a truck stop and advertising in a truck stop, they might be proficient in the certain tax advantages that truckers get. I called them and then went from there. But it did not go well.
I talked to a guy named Ben and he explained to me what they did. It was pretty straightforward because I wasn’t itemizing. He got all my information and I paid him $350 in advance. I waited for a week or two and I got some numbers back from them. All the numbers didn’t add up though and he didn’t even enter my income correctly. He even admitted that part and I tried to fix it as far as putting the price of income in, but he told me that I was trying to commit fraud because I was trying to use the transportation worker's per diem credit. It was $53 a day for every day that you're going 100 miles away from home and I had gone hundreds of miles from home. I'll never get over it. I've never been so mad at somebody I didn’t know.
I asked for a refund and he said he would send it to me and that he would send it to the accounting to see what went wrong. He also asked me if I ever got my $350 back or got it amended like a real tax refund. I took went to my grandfather's doctor's CPA. It cost $200, but he did it all correctly and had my credit in there. I got the refunds within two weeks.

I paid $3,500 and right after I did that, I got a response from the IRS, which I had contacted directly and they approved me for a payment program. Anthem said that they would be able to help me with penalties and interest that I was being charged but to this day, I haven't heard of a single thing back and I haven't got a dime of anything reduced.
I was looking up their information the other day to give them a call because I paid their fee pretty much in full and I wanted to find out what, if anything, they were planning on doing with the taxes, penalties and interest that I was charged. I wanted to originally cancel our contract, but it was within two days of contacting them that I got this thing back from the IRS. And Anthem assured me that I would be getting more of a refund back on my taxes and penalties than what I paid in. So, I thought it would be beneficial for me to continue forward.
I've communicated with Anthem's reps about six times so far and I was comfortable speaking with them through the process. But the service was non-existent.I'm in the customer business and if I treated my customers like that, I wouldn't have repeat customers ever or customers that stayed. And if there's somebody else that's out there that's on the fence, I wanna give them a heads up that they have to do their due diligence before they step forward because Anthem's service may not be everything they say it is.

Also, when I talked to them, they said they service my area even though it is far unlike the other company that does not service my area. I signed up with Anthem online and then one of the attorneys called me and explained the program and it went on from there. They answered the questions I needed to hear and reached out to me. They are filing my taxes. In fact, I signed a power of attorney to retain for a few years and they will be watching and making sure that my taxes are correct. I was also being questioned about my home-based business at that time and I just filed it with them. I think that tax is for eight years so I wanted to get that completed although it seemed like I was like going in unended circles.
I worked with Jake and he was able to say that he could get me on the right track and explained to me how their program worked. I owed the IRS in back taxes and I have a long-time history with paying. I have been trying to get over and finish paying them. But, it just seems like I can never get to that point because of the way I am penalized. However, Anthem’s cost could improve. When I first signed up, it was a little more than I expected and it kinda hurt. But so far, their program has been good. They gave me coaching and told me what I needed to do, just like the other person who filed my taxes prior, too. Moreover, they understand the home-based business deductions.

I told their rep what my problem was and I was told that they were gonna save me. I thought we were gonna save money but we didn’t and it was a hocus pocus. I owed 49,000 but they told me it was supposed to be $10,000. I could have gone through the IRS on my own and did the same thing but I had to pay a fee of $3,800 which could have paid my balance off. Anthem’s reps kept on telling me not to contact the IRS. Also, what they promised me was not on paper. When I spoke with them about it, they kept on giving me the runaround. I had to talk to this person and talk to that person, so I really never got the true thing. I was told that they kept me from getting liens but it was not worth $10,000. I owed just as much paying them and I still come out paying more.
I am finished with the process and I am paying 600 some dollars a month. Anthem gave me nothing. They had one girl though who was awesome and she took all the information and gave it to people who were more experienced. She helped me out the most while everybody else gave me the runaround. Then, my wife was able to talk to Charlie and he guaranteed that they were gonna take 10,000 off the top but that guarantee was nothing. I took a slow process with this and I wanted to make sure we were getting our money’s worth but we didn’t. I think Anthem’s job was to get someone hooked on one person and hook you to two or three other people and by the time you finished, you can’t remember whatever they said.
Anthem should be honest and have everything in writing. Moreover, there should be one person to stick to instead of them keeping on turning me over to different people because they make me forget what I heard and I know what we heard. I’m really not satisfied at all with Anthem and I would not recommend them. I’m calling it as a lesson. I haven't seen anything with Anthem and all this is just an illegal scam to me. All they did was save us from dealing with the IRS.
Although, they did the paperwork and all the stuff for me but the only thing that helped was not having a lien and not going through all the painful process. But if I was able to talk to IRS and I did some research, I could have done it on my own and saved my money. The IRS website tells you what to do and it was exactly what Anthem did. I have told a couple of people that they might as well go to IRS and I am not suggesting any companies. This is the biggest scam.

I owed a lot to the IRS. While the other companies told me that they couldn't help me, Anthem told me they could so I went ahead, got their services, and paid them upfront. However, they were not able to help me in getting my taxes reduced. The IRS didn't approve it and I had to pay the full thing on my own. I was a little disappointed about that but it wasn't Anthem's fault. They tried their best to do what they could. They were very knowledgeable and very helpful.
