BUYER BEWARE! GM Financial gets a 1 only because 0 isn't an option. I recently leased my first car at a GM dealership through GM Financial. After getting the monthly payments down to where I wanted them to be I agreed to sign. What no one bothered to tell me is that the monthly payment they show you is not the monthly payment you will be making.
IN MY CASE MY MONTHLY PAYMENTS ARE $50 MORE THAN I AGREED TO. The front of the lease states in Section 13, "The total amount you will pay for official and license fees, registration, title and taxes of the term of your Lease, whether included in your scheduled payments or assessed others: $981.41". Then I got a surprise bill for over $688 on top of that. Upon calling GM Financial they claim the bill was for property taxes even though the contract clearly doesn't state that they aren't already included in the $981.41. They then pointed to fine print buried on the back of the contract that said I was responsible for property taxes. I asked why that wasn't included in the estimate on the front of the contract and got no answer.
Perhaps the most disturbing part is that they blamed me for not knowing that I would be deceived. That I should have known that what I was told wasn't true and I should've asked. They then told me I should take it up with my local tax collector. Stay away from GM Financial and perhaps GM in general. They will do anything to close a deal even if it means deceiving a buyer.

I just took out a lease with GM Financial for a new car (car dealership selected for me). I waited to receive payment information in the mail, as I wanted to set up automatic payments as soon as possible so I wouldn't have to worry about missing a payment. I set up my auto pay as soon as I received the information to do so. I've never missed a payment in my life, but logged on to my account last night, and to my surprise saw "Payment Past Due!" in bright red text.
I obviously started panicking... I thought my first payment would be automatically withdrawn from my bank account. I never received an email or phone call that I missed a payment and now I'm technically 20 days late! I just did a one-time payment using Western Union, but now I'm very upset and worried about my credit score and the interest on my loan. I guess I thought it would be common sense for a business to send a communication to their customers as soon as a payment is missed. I'm really hoping they will "forgive" this incident for me, as it was my first payment and I've never been late paying any of my bills - ever. Ugh. Not cool.

I took out a car loan with Americredit in 2002. The car was repossessed after I got laid off in 2003. The IRS just notified me I owed them money because Americredit 1099 me. Today I get a letter from State of Alabama wanting an additional 300.00 because of Americredit. I didn't even live in Alabama when that loan was taken out in 2002. I didn't move to Alabama until 2008.

I took out an Agreement with GMAC car finance in 2009. The Agreement came to an end in November 2014 but during this period GMAC failed to credit some of my payments. This has been going on now for 2 1/2 years and I've now sent 8 times proof of payments made via bank statements and financial statements. I had a debt collector who realised I'd paid and returned the case back to GMAC who later got their Solicitors involved who also realised that everything was up to date. Shoosmiths requested bank statements from 2011 to the present day when they came on board and when I told them that GMAC already had copies, I was told that under the Data Protection Act GMAC had destroyed them as they were no longer fit the purpose...WHAT. The dispute was still ongoing.
When the Debt Collector came I told him that I would be charging for my time and expenses and duly sent to GMAC a Notice of Intention to charge with interest @ 4% per month. They later de-instructed Shoosmiths and I kept receiving default letters which meant they were taking no notice of bank statements or their Solicitors. Shoosmiths admitted that they were not responding to their letters either. Got a letter at the end of November 2015 demanding payment for 4 months and fees of £350.00. Sent bank statements showing 2 payments made and pointed out that the 2 other payments they were asking for were clearly shown as received on THEIR history of payments received and I asked for a breakdown of the £350 fees as I hadn't had one. I submitted my invoice and also enclosed a copy of my Notice as I felt that if they had destroyed the bank statements they might well have destroyed that letter too.
These docs were sent by Special Delivery on the 8th December and they received it on the 9th - somebody called Dibbs signed for it. As I had been given the wrong tracking code, I re-sent them by fax thinking that Royal Mail had lost the correspondence so they have received everything twice. To date I've not heard a word back. Does this come under the Fraud Act or fraud under the Consumer Credit Act as someone has had my money. I want to write to them once more before going to my Solicitor so any advice as to what to put please would be most welcome. I've come to the end of my tether.

I now have been sent a notice by the IRS that I owe tax on an unpaid debt, which they call income. I was never notified by this company of this. Lost my job, house, and car in 2009. In 2013 owe the tax on a car repossessed 5 years ago.

So I purchased a car from them in 8/2015. Gave me $1500.00 down and payments were $369.00 a month, I became ill and started falling behind. Almost lost my house. Now I'm trying to make arrangements with them since I will be receiving a refund in the next week or 2 and they keep just telling me "We can't wait, we need it today!" The agent is out actively looking for your vehicle and it hasn't even been 90 days past due. I'm not sure what the rules are but I don't think they can repo that soon... Can they? Regardless if they can or not I will never deal with them again. I had a bank that worked with me for a year before when I was 20 years old and never once said anything about repoing.

Years ago, I was not very financially healthy. I needed to purchase a reliable vehicle. The dealership approved me for a loan under terrible terms. I had no choice! I did as asked. It was not always pretty and on time, but I finally paid off my loan that was financed with GM financial. There was a few late fees, call here and there from their collections dept, sometimes a partial payment. Bottom line, it has been paid off!! So, where is my cars title or pink slip? I have not moved! They have my address. I know they do because they use to send me monthly bills. My mailman seems solid, my mail box has a lock, no one else gets the mail but me.
Hmmm. I have called GM financial close to ten times since the loan has been paid off. I am entitled to the title, right? I keep getting the runaround! Bs after bs from their phone representatives. "It is in the mail! Your title was mailed in October!" November's story? "Oh, sir. It was mailed nov 10th!" Let me ask, is it being mailed from the MOON??? There has to be a law or some sort of legal action I could pursue? This is bs! That company preys on ones who slipped financially. And can't provide what they should. If I screwed up, they would repo the car, right? Play fair GM financial! How would you feel in my shoes? What if I was the bank and I held your cars title hostage after you paid the loan off? Very Shady!

After visiting a local dealership, I was informed that GM Financial, also known as Americredit had approved my loan. Three weeks later, I was contacted by the dealership that the car had to be returned because the loan fell through. Supposedly, the check stubs I provided were fraudulent. What made them determine the check stubs were fraudulent? The numbers didn't add up.
So in other words, they spoke with my supervisor, whose company is listed and the phone number has been on its site for YEARS, and they still said the stubs were not correct. Not only that, they forwarded an employment verification form to her, which was not legible, with my signature. I never signed it. It was a copy and paste situation on THEIR behalf. Before this company decides it wants to tarnish a person's name, it needs to make sure their facts are in order. An owner of a company is NOT going to stick their necks by providing false information to a finance company for one of its employees.

We were happy to get the car. We had even with a high rate of interest. When we purchased the car, we didn't realize the depreciation on the car would grow at a higher rate than the principle would drop. 5 years into a 7-year loan we still owe 70% of the loan amount, which is twice the value of the car. The car is now a total loss. Everyone asks if we had "GAP Insurance". I've never heard of GAP insurance. When I talked to someone at GM I asked why GAP insurance wasn't a requirement on these high-interest loans. He said they couldn't require it. Nonsense, they require collision. Why not make GAP a requirement if you know that most of your clients will be upside down on their loans?
Each phone call to them ends in frustration. They are slow to give answers. They are slow to send payoff requests. Even though it is the "loss mitigation" department, they will not discuss cash settlement offers until the loan has been in default for 12 months. I had another department tell me there was no record of us having any conversations with them since the wreck, which is not true. We have been approved for a new loan at a much, much lower rate by more than one lender. They need to know the resolution on this loan. They all say the same thing. GM Financial is a nightmare to work with.

I have no clue how you are allowed to finance a car to someone at a 200% above the market value. I bought a 2011 Audi A4 from Clay Cooley Nissan and it was financed through Americredit. The finance guy did some fraudulent things when coming up with the payment options, so now when I go to trade in the car owe 15,000 more than what the car is worth! WTF and let's not talk about the payments I have at $600 a month. I was told when I got the car that I would be able to refinance through Americredit but yeah that isn't true. Even though the guy at the dealership did some fraudulent things, they still will not help me get from under the crazy high payments or get from under all the negative equity in this car. I will NEVER EVER buy a car from them... To make matters worse, I'm stuck with a 12.5% interest rate when I just got approved for a 1.65% interest rate through my credit union.

I moved to New York, fell behind on payments. They shut off my car while I was at work. They turned it back on long enough to get the car home the next day. I start sending them 300-500 every other week to get caught up. Three months go by they say I'm still not caught up. I told them "I'm not paying another dime on this car, you are ** me over." Lo and behold after they repossessed the car a year and a half ago, I get a letter in the mail. I have a bank judgement against me for 6621.06. Really now? I went to a car dealership in Lithia Springs, GA back in March 2015 to see if I could get a car. To my surprise I received an approval from GM Financial aka Americredit. The down payment was out the a** but I went ahead being that I needed a vehicle for work, doctor's appointments and etc. I've been paying them on time with no problems at all until I left one job for a better paying job (my mistake) which caused me to fall behind. I've now missed a payment and I spoke with a representative about changing my payment date but was told I couldn't because I needed to make a payment first. She asked if I wanted to make the payment an automatic draft and I said no being that I didn't have all the funds going to an account that they accepted. I kept sending them whatever money I could being that I have other bills and now I've finally made up one month worth of payments but now in all they're saying I owe over $1200 for payment and late fees.
I lost my insurance coverage on the car but recently got a new insurance company which was cheaper than what the dealership gave me to begin with. And as I woke this morning which is Sunday Sept. 20, 2015, around 8:15 am my car was parked in the rear of my apartment complex like normal but when I was getting ready to leave to go to the ER for an allergic reaction, my car was gone and that was 3 hrs after I first saw it outside. And I've tried calling GM Financial to see where the car is located since my personal items are in the car but to no avail. I can't contact them since it's Sunday and they're closed. Now I have no way to work being that I work nights and public transportation stops at 12 midnight and my children have no way to the doctor's office tomorrow since they have pink eyes and can't return to school.

I bought a 2013 Kia Soul brand new, credit was not so good but at the dealers was told I got 10% interest, papers even showed that. Forward to 2015 I lost my job, called them immediately to see if they would work with me. They said as long as I paid something I would be Ok. Next thing I know my credit report shows me 60 days past due with them, I call as I am not late on current month and they tell me they bill a month ahead. I'm like "you can't report me late for a month that hasn't even got here yet?" I went to another bank to see if I could refinance my loan for a lower rate and found out that my rate was 16% not 10. Somehow they changed the paperwork after I left the dealer, and I never questioned it. They are horrible and a bunch of crooks.

GMFinancial. What a crock. Wife was recently laid of. We immediately called and asked them for a deferred payment for a month because we knew things were about to go downhill quickly. They absolutely refused to work with us. We have never missed a car payment ever, not even a day late. Only reason we got stuck with a company like this with poor interest rates was because of some major medical debt we incurred several years ago. Now they call and threaten to repo the car.
Payment is later now but never has been 30 days late, even with no groceries in the house and the electricity close to being shut off. We have worked too hard to let our credit take another hit so we are doing everything we can to keep the account current. I would give anything to have been able to wait a few more years and gotten a loan from a reputable lender for a car for our family. But live and learn I guess. STAY AWAY from them. This company approved us for a car then came back and said I have to turn it in because I can't afford it. Who the hell are you to tell me I can't afford? I do have other income. I was at the dumb dealership for 8 hours. Why the hell would you let me leave with the car then say 3 1/2 weeks later we have to return it? It's just awful. Not to mention I have a disabled daughter who can't open and close a normal car door. So when we got the van she was so happy that all she had to do is push a button to open and close her own door and the van sat lower so she could get in and out with no problems. They decided to sell a $33,000 car at auction for 9,000.00. They took me to court. Since there was no money for a lawyer. I paid one to write a rebuttal to GMAC's claim of $15,000 plus court costs. I had a car loan through Americredit and fell behind due to illness. I owed around $1,500 before the car would be paid off and was behind on car payment which was $303.80. I was making my monthly payment of $303.80 and around a hundred dollars extra each month to catch up the one month I missed. On the third month they repossessed the vehicle before the payment due date. I did not receive any type of notice that they intended to do this, only my regular statement that said I was behind. I feel they did this because the car was almost paid in full and they would be able to resell the vehicle at a good price. They did not care that I was making an attempt to caught up my payments. I did get the vehicle back after paying the amount of money I fell behind and an additional fee for the repo.
Granted I did fall behind one payment and it was going to take me three months to square up I had good intentions and the vehicle was almost paid for - seems they weren't very upfront about the seriousness of the situation. I had four and half years of paying my payments on time and they definitely made all kinds of money on the interest they charged me. You think some type of letter warning me that I was in danger of repo would be appropriate in this situation. Only reason I gave two stars is that the lady I worked with to get the car out of repo was very nice and seemed genuine. As for my credit it took a hit and I have been driving this car to the ground before I even think of trying to get something newer. Left a bad taste in my mouth and now to see GM has taken control of the company what a great fit considering all the delayed recalls.

I had personal property in vehicle that the repo company would not allow me to get until I pay them a $60.00 fee. Lucky for me New Jersey Law states that I can pick up my personal property without paying a fee. I sent faxes to both the repo company and GM Financial stating NJ don't require me to pay a fee to pick up my personal property from a repossess vehicle.
After about 6 faxes, I finally got a call from the repo company and GM that I don't have to pay the fee. However, GM is requesting that I leave the vehicle keys with the repo company for them to release my personal property. Lucky for me, I recorded my conversation with the repo company as they stated that I have to drop off the car keys to get my personal property. They finally allow me to pickup my personal property.
Now GM Financial is saying that they will have to repo company cut a key so they can auction the vehicle. I remind them that they agreed to reinstate my loan if I pay the past due balance, late fees and repo fees. Therefore, they cannot change their mind about reinstating my loan. Throughout all of this, they are only communicating via phone, so I started to record all my conversations. I let the rep know that the conversation is being recorded (legal requirement in most states) at the beginning of all conversation. Also, I follow up all conversation with a fax and email. I just sent the reinstatement department a fax requesting they confirm the amount and the payment method. Hopefully, then will reply via e-mail or fax so I will have something in writing. If not, I will be recording our conversations. I will return with my updates after I talk with the rep tomorrow...

In May 2012, I left my job to return to school for a second degree. I still continued to make my payments. I was able to secure employment but only part time, 30 hours a week. I could not make Aug. or Sept. payment due to job reducing my hours from 30 per week to 20. My car was repossessed this past Thursday, 10/17/13. I called Americredit/GM Financial customer service all day yesterday.
I was continually redirected to the Reinstatement Department each time I called. No person ever answered my call in the Reinstatement Department (just an automated system saying to leave a message) and no person in the Reinstatement Department ever returned my messages. Finally, after about a dozen calls, a customer service representative informed me that the Reinstatement Department only has 8 employees, is a very busy department and my call would be returned in the order it was received and by priority. My concern is that there is no Reinstatement Department because in 8 hours yesterday, no one answered the phone or called me back. That seems impossible even with only 8 employees.
I want to pay the amount to bring my payment current along with all the fees I know have been charged to me due to the repossession so I can have my car returned to me. I have someone willing to help me out but I can't reach anyone at Americredit/GM Financial's Reinstatement Department. If my car is sold before I can reach someone to make arrangements, I will lose my job and thousands of dollars I've invested in school because I will have to withdraw. Not to mention all my personal belongings in the car that I can't retrieve because I have no idea where my car was towed. What can I do if no one returns my call or answers the phone on Monday in the Reinstatement Department? I've never had a car repossessed so this is foreign territory to me.

We paid the original payments for 2 years before it was repossessed. I called today to get our balance, which we thought would be less than $2,400 (at the time of repossession we owed $3,000). I was told our balance is $6,000. In 2006 this was a used car. If we paid the $6,000 for this car that we no longer have, we will have paid $13,800 plus 2 years of car payments, which was at least $4,800. That’s a total of $18,600 for a car that, again, we no longer possess.

I have a 2006 Ford F150 and was originally financed through Long Beach Acceptance which then had been bought out by Americredit. Then GMAC took over Americredit. Throughout the 6 year finance, I had done 6 payment deferments which extended my loan to 78 months. I had only asked for a one month deferment and I was advised that the only way to do a deferment is that it would be for 2 months not 1 and it would cost me $352 and some change. I said okay as I have dealt with deferments in the past with no issues.
Due to my circumstances, I had no choice and paid each time the same amount. I was advised that when my next payment was due, it would be applied to my loan as normal and I was okay with that. Okay, after all that, I financed my loan in Aug. of 2006. Here it is March 2013 and GMAC is stating I owe close to a $4,000 balloon payment because it is a daily simple interest loan in which I know the type of loan and was never advised of this information prior to to 3 months ago. I have talked to customer service requesting to speak to a manager. I was advised none were available but I could leave a voice mail which I did.
I never received a call back. I called back asking for payment research to review my payment history which I still have not received. I did about a year ago and I did receive that one from Americredit and saw the 3 payments that went to interest. I have been advised on one phone call that this balloon payment was interest. Then I was told it was principal; then I was told it was principal and interest. I asked them over 20 times to please research the account from day one and requested yet again for a complete payment history with the $352 payments included and that was 2 weeks ago.
I have emailed them numerous times without a response; besides, the automated response was, "We will get back to you." I have over 50 emails saved on my email account where some received responses such as, "Thank you for your request", "Please call after ..." I had already stated I had called on several occasions. I am not having Chase and Bank of America send me all of my account histories since Aug. 1, 2006 until present to go to a lawyer to fight this matter because it is unfair to anyone to go through this.
I deal with daily simple interest mortgages, the same type of loan, just one for a house and one for an automobile. When a customer is late, the next statement you receive reflects the higher balance due to the incurred interest for the days they were late. I never received a statement reflecting this information. The other thing I have had issues with is the website for GMAC showing my account details; it reflects totally different amounts owed along with how many payments are due. I brought this to their attention and was ignored by 5 reps who stated, "You owe what our system says you do." I asked if the website is part of their system since they receive my payments through there and they stated yes. So I asked, "Why isn't it reflecting the same information?" And I did not get an answer. This is a horrible company and I am now seeking legal action.

I called right away and was redirected to a department that handles the pay-off, and was told to ignore what I've seen on the bill, that it's a computer glitch. I discussed that I want this corrected and was further told that he was a low man on the ladder and but if I felt it was important, that he would email someone about it. Even though minutes earlier he's supposedly talking to someone about my inquiry?
It was a beat around the bush discussion with comments made that some people don't know what they are getting into? Etc, etc... And he also turned my request of an explanation of what I owe into a request of payoff. What a detour from the issue, I'm soon to be stuck with, I'm sure. Anyways, it’s very unfortunate for all of us who are trying to continue to pay on these accounts. I'm definitely expecting to lose this battle, but I'm going to do my best not to.

I had a loan through Americredit for a 2003 Sunfire. I made payments faithfully. Then one day, they showed up to repo it. When I asked the repo man why, he showed me papers saying that I was 5 months behind on payments. When I called Americredit and finally got an answer, they told me that 5 months earlier, a $15 charge was added to my payment for that month due to some error the previous month on their part. Since I had the payment as direct draw from my checking account and rarely even got a statement from Americredit, I had no idea this was going on. So they repo'd my car for $15 and then told me I would have to pay $2,000 to get it back and still make the rest of the $3,300 I still owed on the car. Obviously, I couldn't come up with $5k in a few days, so they sold the car at auction, after repairing everything they could find on it and sent me the bill. We started fighting the proceedings and stopped payments. They took our tax return and demanded the rest of the money. So we had no choice but to set up payments with them: $1,500 down and $500 twice a month until the loan was paid. Outrageous.
So now, a year after, it is all said and done, I get a call from a debt collection agency. Americredit has reported me for the overdue/non-payed loan of $3,337. I am not freaking paying for that car again. And of course, Americredit has no records of us paying it off and we've since changed banks and therefore have no records either.

I took out a loan on a 2000 Dodge Caravan through Americredit back in 2005. My ex-husband and I filed Chapter 13 bankruptcy in 2008. We had to file a Chapter 7 bankruptcy in order to get a divorce last fall. According to our bankruptcy paperwork, we owed less than $2,000 on the van. They mailed me a statement saying that I now owe over $7,000! It is absolutely ridiculous! The van is in horrible physical condition and has over 230,000 miles on it - Blue Book trade-in value is less than $500. I tried to make a settlement offer and they didn't even contact me to tell me that they denied it. My ex was able to keep his motorcycle for a $200 settlement offer when he owed around $1,000 (through another loan company). But Americredit is being an ** and repossessing my piece of ** van. Whatever, they can have it. I am not paying for it all over again. Americredit sucks!

The loan on a previously owned Uplander mini-van was financed for just over $20,000 that was to be paid at just over $540.00 for 69 payments, which would put the financing at over $37,260. There were 3 deferments on the loan and late payments, which were paid, but at the end of the loan, they called two months before the loan was paid, and said an additional $2,800 was owed on the van. The computer said the payoff was around $1,800, which I thougt was wrong, due to all that had already been paid.
Where did that extra thousand dollars come from? They said it was interest on 2 months before we could pay the van off. There was no help from them in anyway. I was told that I could let it get repossessed, and sent to auction, and pay the difference from what it sold for. What a joke! I ended up paying almost $40,000 for a pre-owned vehicle that I financed for just over $21,000. Boy, did Americredit get their money, and from what I hear, this is general practice. If the goverment wants to get so involved in the running of this country. I let them give the people some real help against companies that rip off people so blatantly. I believe in making a profit, but this is greed, and way over the top. I will tell everyone I know not to ever use Americredit.

Americredit will spend more to repo my car than what is supposedly left to pay of the simple interest loan. I wasn't advised of the simple interest loan at the time of purchase but it was explained to me as a straight loan with a higher interest rate based on my credit. I have already paid them back. And people wonder why these the Occupy Movement is gaining momentum… I will find a lawyer to file some sort of class action suit because this is ridiculous. They call nine to 10 times a day and even call other phone numbers if I call them on it and demand to speak with me. In April 2011, I lost my job I had been at for 10 years. My loan with Americredit was due to mature on 5/12/11 and I had three payments left to make. I pulled my 401K out and made the very last payment to them on 5/9/11, which I had made 54 of 54 payments on the contract. I was told that I would be notified of any balance.
I was sent a letter in the mail that I owed them $2500 more with no explanation, no detailed statement, no payment plan. I was told I had 120 days to make the payment of the balance in full by 9/12/11 or it would be charged off on my credit and I will never receive my title until I pay it. I continued to receive calls, threats of repo, charge off, no title and rudeness from every rep.
I went online today to look at my account details and there is a different amount that I owe them now, it's $2731.97 and a payment coupon of $179.70 monthly due by 5/12/11, which I was never told about or offered to. I was told to make four payments of $625 by 9/12/11 and that would satisfy my loan.
I will never recommend them and they should not be able to harass anyone like that, especially after they have completed the contract terms and now you want more money.

In February of 2010, I was severely injured at work, which meant I had to fight my employer and the workers’ compensation board. We were doing okay for a while, but in March of 2011, we were ruled against and lost the workers’ compensation income. This came on the heels of my spouse losing her job.
We explained the situation to Americredit and worked out a deferment that was for a 2-month span, which for a 5-year loan is not that long. Pretty much the day the deferment ended, they were calling, and I don't mean just once or twice a day, we are talking as many as 9 calls in one day.
They finally said the car was slated for repo and I did not argue. The repo people however, never showed up and I received several more calls telling me it was in repo. Finally, we were told that my workers’ compensation would be reinstated and we made a large payment to Americredit, which was supposed to get us flush. Instead, they chose to apply part of it to interest.
We continued to receive several automated and manned calls a day, until finally, I was told by one female representative that she saw the problem and would fix it. This "fix" did not happen as we continued to get many calls.
Finally, after we were told by one rude rep that she was "not going to invest time listening", I spoke to a manager named Tim, who we set up another payment to cover the "owed" amount and the next month’s payment.
The very next day after making this scheduled payment, we still received multiple calls. It's bad enough that we hate the car, the loan terms are ridiculous and that the only reason we got it was that we needed a reliable vehicle for our family. But to be continually harassed on a daily basis even when we have caught up, it's enough to make you want to scream and cry.

What are my rights as a consumer in a car loan agreement? What amount and type of personal information for disclosure is ethical? What are my options to pay off this debt if the principal balance continues to increase?
Yesterday, I was declined a deferment due to failure to provide different personal references. I have filed one deferment in the past with this institution and the personal references for that application still exist and are credible (immediate family members, all individuals are alive). The reasons given to me for rejecting my application are "you are not giving us different references in case we are not able to contact you directly, the references you have on file are not good enough, you are not being cooperative and wish to give us what you feel like giving us, these are the terms for this deferment, we can't help you if you can't give us better references."
The reason for failure to make payments in a timely matter stem from my existing employer's inability to provide me with full time employment. In the past three months I have communicated this with my lender, placing phone calls every two weeks and making payment arrangements. Throughout each phone conversation, none of the customer representatives have suggested a deferment. Therefore I am accruing fees to my existing loan (e.g. late fee for being late on payment more than 10 days, late fees for not paying minimum amount monthly). This is gradually increasing my principal balance and ultimately hindering my ability to pay off my debt in a reasonable amount of time.

They told me that they do not refinance and that there was nothing that they could do. I explained that I will borrow the money to pay off the loan amount which was about 12k left and that I just needed time to gather the money.
I tried to make a payment to Christina in the Canada office, but she kept trying to push my payment behind which would extend the loan for several months more. Now my other bills are piling up, and I've decided that I need to make sacrifices in order to make ends meet, considering that AmeriCredit won't help me. Instead making small adjustments so I could pay later, but added on the late fee instead, which doesn't help my current situation.
I decided that my vehicle needs to go. I managed to find a potential buyer, and everything was looking good. This letter is to bring your attention to our negative experience with Dana ** of the Chandler, Arizona AmeriCredit location and to lodge a formal complaint against her. I became involved with this matter after my son, Blake **, came to live with us in Colorado this past July due to his unemployed status and subsequent eviction from his home in Hawaii. Unfortunately Blake is one of the many victims in our current National economic crisis and as a single father, sought our help to house him and his son while he searches for gainful employment. We contacted Dana **, per her request, to discuss options available to us to rectify the delinquent status of Blake's 2004 Ford Explorer.
All conversations with Ms. ** were via speaker mode so all three of us would be clear as to what was discussed. In our initial discussion Dana advised Blake that he was 82 days delinquent and that a repossession order had been issued. Blake educated Dana to the fact that he had previously contacted AmeriCredit as soon as he was downsized (approx. March/April) and tried to refinance or modify his monthly payments in an attempt to work with AmeriCredit to avoid delinquency.
Blake was told that AmeriCredit does not refinance loans and that the only option available to him was to defer his delinquent payments and remain current on all future payments. Dana even acknowledged that until Blake became unemployed he was in good standing with AmeriCredit, but that she couldn't discuss our options until she had the location of the vehicle.
I explained to Dana that I wanted to ascertain what our options were before divulging the location of the vehicle because repossession might be a mute point as Blake's father, step-mother, myself and my husband were looking into the possibility of satisfying the balance of the vehicle or becoming current, but needed more information, including balance owed before making that decision. Dana's demeanor and voice became hostile as she kept pressing for the location of the car before any further discussions could take place.
I also explained to Dana that my past experience in former positions as a Director of Sales and Marketing and Senior Account Executive, afforded me the insight into her attempt, but ill applied use of strategic maneuvers utilizing canned dialog, repetition of company protocol and constant side-stepping techniques. I requested that she take a step back, calm down and remove the hostility from her voice/antagonistic attitude before our conversation could continue. I asked several times to be elevated to her supervisor as I felt her attitude (though Blake and I remained calm and even-toned) hindered our successful communication.
Dana refused and stated that she was the agent assigned to the case and that her status as Assistant V.P. was as high as we could go. The only information we obtained from Dana during that conversation was the balance due, confirmation that AmeriCredit does not refinance loans, that the delinquent balance would have to be brought current/or deferred, and that future payments of nearly $500/month would have to be made on-time, and that no other options were available to us other than payment in full to satisfy the loan. I then ended the conversation by advising Dana that I would discuss the options with all parties involved and contact her. She gave me a deadline of 5-business days to do so.
On the 5th business day, I received a voice message on my home answering machine from Dana asking us to contact her. I was furious as we have outgoing ID-blocker on our phone so Dana should have not had access to our home phone number, nor did I divulge our address/telephone number to her at any time. I returned the call and left a voice message stating such and that she did not have my permission to utilize my home phone in the future. Blake and I called Dana back the next day and informed her that we had an appointment the previous day with a Bankruptcy Attorney (true fact) and due to Blake's homeless and unemployed status, we felt he had no other recourse than to file bankruptcy due to AmeriCredits company policies. Dana's response was, "we'll see how the Bankruptcy Judge rules".
After that rude remark, we provided Dana with Blake's new address here in Colorado and gave Dana the physical address of the vehicle. We requested the name and phone number of the repossession company so we could cooperate fully by personally contacting them, provide them the code to the key less entry door, location of the keys inside the vehicle, and exactly where it was parked for easy access. After providing us with the repo company's information, Dana asked us to provide her with our Attorney's information to forward to her legal department. We declined so she hastily ended the conversation and hung up. We immediately contacted R.T. Towing at 808-885-4488 and provided them the information noted above.
I was infuriated with Dana's continued hostile and rude attitude and the way she ended our phone call so after our conversation with R.T. Towing, I called AmeriCredits Chandler location, asked to speak to Dana's direct supervisor, and was transferred to Mr. Erin **. I explained to Erin that I wanted to lodge a complaint against Dana and then went into detail about her deplorable and unprofessional conduct. Blake and I had a lengthy conversation with Erin and requested that our detailed conversation be noted. I also suggested that if the company keeps recordings of customer/agent conversations, that he access the tapes to substantiate our attempts to cooperate in a calm manner, and Dana's continued rude and unprofessional behavior.
I am amazed that Dana's tactics, coupled with her lack of any sort of feigned compassion or empathy, have been rewarded by elevating her to the Assistant V.P. status she holds with your company. I explained to Erin, as I had to Dana, that we (Blake's parents and step-parents) wanted to explore the possibility of a reduced pay-off amount to satisfy the loan in lieu of filing bankruptcy. Erin explained that it is not AmeriCredits policy to do so. I proposed an amount of approximately $7,000 (blue book value of the car is only $10,000 even though the balance was $14,593,37) as it would likely be more than the company would receive at auction and was all that we collectively could afford at that time. Avoiding a bankruptcy filing would benefit all involved. I asked Erin to elevate this request accordingly and let me know if it would be considered.
We also provided Erin with Blake's new Colorado address and e-mail address as a means of communication because Blake's cell phone was soon to be terminated. I advised Erin that we would continue exploring avenues to become current or satisfy the loan in full. Erin assured us that we would receive written notices of redemption/sale and a specific amount of time to cure the delinquency prior to the sale of the vehicle. We received no such notices to the Colorado address we provided. We appreciated Erin's explanation of the repossession process/procedure including the written notifications involved. We had previously requested the information from Dana who declined to respond. We thanked Erin for his cooperation and time. I applaud and would like noted, Erin's empathy, compassion, and professionalism.
He extended dignity, courtesy and respect to Blake during these hard and humiliating times. Erin made us feel that he truly understood that everyone falls on hard times, but that the destruction caused by those hard times does not define the person. As noted in the body of this letter, we provided both Ms. ** and Mr. **l with Blake's new Colorado address (**, Colorado) upon disclosure of the vehicles location; prior to the date of the Explorer's repossession. Unfortunately the change of address apparently was not noted in Blake's file as the notice of right to redeem and notice of our plan to sell property were mailed to an obsolete address, which in turn was forwarded to another obsolete address, and did not reach our possession until well past the sale date of the vehicle.
This oversight by AmeriCredit (and possible sabotage from Ms. ** due to our direct complaint against her) precluded us from our lawful right to redeem or become current in payments prior to the vehicles sale and therefore negates any outstanding balance due. We have filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and intend to elevate this matter to be investigated for lack of due process, malicious intent and possible class action suit if similar complaints have been filed. We understand that you have a limited amount of time to acknowledge our complaint and expect a prompt response outlining the intent of your actions including collection proceedings or dismissal. I have received a letter from the Legal Department of AmeriCredit stating that they "would like the opportunity to address the concerns stated in the letter, however more information is required.
At your earliest convenience, please fax a signed letter of authorization from our customer to discuss the account. Upon receipt of this information I will research this matter". I appreciate this gesture; however, I was denied due process and I lost my car. Now I face the possibility of them pursuing me for the outstanding balance. Their company policy of non-modification (even after my contacting them immediately after the loss of my job) proved to be pointless/fruitless. That coupled with possible sabotage from the "agent" warrants research and repercussions. How many other "clients" have they done this to??? Thank you for your consideration!

I had to file bankruptcy several years ago and almost right away was involved in a car accident in which my car was totaled. I was able to get a loan with AmeriCredit for a late model Ford Explorer and have made every single payment on time. One month, someone misread the amount on the money order and entered the wrong amount in their system. They started to harass me at work and refused to correct their records despite having proof that the money order was in the correct amount.
They even told me one time this was "my problem" to work out. Well, within a few days I decided to file a complaint with the Texas Attorney General's office and included the name of the lady that said it was my problem. Then I sent an e-mail through their website to AmeriCredit to tell them what I had done. They promptly corrected their records and I have had no more problems with them.

Honestly all these complaints I hear about AmeriCredit, it is pretty annoying and vague. If your payments were on time, then none of this would happen, right? I believe it is bad budgeting on the consumers end here. This company is a sub-prime lender, meaning your credit is not the greatest of credit. It is pretty self explanatory, there is a reason why AmeriCredit financed your vehicle, because no one else will. Now don't get me wrong, I am not perfect, no one is, but also no one forced you to get financed through AmeriCredit and no one forced you to sign a contract with high interest and high monthly payments, the decision was made on the consumers end, not AmeriCredits.
Put it this way, if you were a finance company and your customers were delinquent on their account, what would you do? Exactly, you would try to get your money or at least some of it back. Unemployed, sick, off of work and no work hours, cut? In life there are no excuses, only results. Budget! Save money! If you know you have a note due, why would you go shopping and blow half of it off? If you are unemployed, hurry and find a job, maybe? I think it is funny, don't get me wrong, but society has a way of "milking" the government. The unemployed people just accept it the way it is and just keep on taking the unemployment instead of looking for another job.
When people find out they will make less then they did before, they always turn down that job. Keep in mind you can only get so many extensions on your unemployment. For the ones saying, "I was sick for a week and cannot make a payment because I was off work," that is a [lie]. Ever heard of sick time? If you haven't, well, you get paid for the time still. Like I said early, there are no excuses in life, only results.

My car was repossessed. Later, it was sold for an undisclosed amount. I received a bill saying I have to pay 11 thousand. However, I settled for 50 percent of the 11 thousand which is about 5 thousand. I was told that if I cannot pay for a vehicle and it is repossessed, I shouldn't be paying for it. Am I being scammed? The vehicle which I was paying for was worth about 21 thousand. At a monthly payment of about 700 dollars, it's taking a huge chunk out of my wallet. I've no money for living expenses and food. I'm practically broke.

I have been making payments for 60 months, which was the life of the loan. I got behind a couple of times and in December 2009, asked for an amount to catch everything up through the January payment. They gave me an amount and I paid it. Since then, I have paid every month on time. This month, they showed a payment made on the website but say that it was an invalid bank account number. They also said the same thing happened in Feb, but I was never notified. So according to my account, I owe 9 payments so I asked them for a payoff. My calculation of $432.39 per month is $3891.51. Their actual payoff amount quote is over $7k. They have continuously harassed me for 5 long drawn out years, threatened me many times. I have paid them $26k and the loan was for $16k for 60 months. This month is month 60 and I have put 3 payments on the back of the loan. This is by far the worst company I have ever in 43 years dealt with. I am a single mother of 3 daughters. Is there anything I can do?

I fell a little behind in my auto payment around October 2009 due to having to pay for books for school a month prior. So I received a call from a GMAC representative named Bill the week of November 8 to discuss why the account was past due. I then told him the happenings, and he then began to tell me I could get a 60-day extension on my account. The basis of the 60-day extension was to pay the discussed amount, which was $500.00, and when that payment was made, I could then be eligible for the 60-day extension.
What the 60-day extension would do was put the October and November payments on the end months of my account. I was told to call after submitting this payment to ensure that the extension would be applied to my account. Hearing this and agreeing to take the extension, I submitted a payment of $500 on November 18 to cover for late charges for my October payment and to obtain my extension. I called during the process of wiring my money via Western Union to ensure that I'm sending it to the right place.
When I called and got connected to a representative, the representative I had spoken the week prior, Bill, wasn't at the extension he provided for me to reach him at. This time I was in contact with a lady, and we talked through the process. I made mention of the 60-day extension that Bill said I could obtain. She was very polite with handling the account and stated that she'd note on the account for my extension to take place.
Thinking everything is "Hunky-dory" (going good), I get a call from a GMAC rep named Ernest **, the week prior to December 16. He wanted to know how come I haven't submitted a payment in December. I then relayed the information to him from the conversation between me and the representative Bill. He then proceeded to say sorry for the misleading information provided by their representative, but I was ineligible for a 60-day extension, because I had received a 30-day extension in February earlier in the year.
He then said I needed to come up with $218 for late charges from October. The initial plan was for me to pay the $218, and they'd work with me for the December and January payment. And then, I'd be eligible for a 60-day extension in February.
Very bamboozled and aggravated at this point, I decided to gather the money and send it in. I sent a money order for $219 on December 16 to the mailing address provided by GMAC's automated voice, which is located in Louisville, Kentucky. As a follow-up procedure, the rep called a couple days later to see if I had sent the money, because it had yet to reach them.
Unfortunately, the money hadn't gotten to them yet, and the rep was beginning to grow impatient with me and proceeded to ask for me to send an additional $218. I told him I had no way to come up with the money and told him to check the location where GMAC's checks and/or money orders are to be sent to. He replied, "That is too long of a process." Very infuriated with me, the two of us then just get off the phone without resolving anything.
So, time went by, and on January 5, 2010 at 12:10am, a guy was knocking at my door and said he's the repo man. He has my 2007 Impala hoisted up on the tow truck already and let me get my belongings out of the car before towing it. I told him my predicament, and he said, "Between me and you, GMAC are idiots. But don't tell them I said that!" He then said, "Things like this happen all the time, but you could call them (GMAC) in the morning, and they'll probably release the vehicle if you tell them what you just told me." Then he drove away with my vehicle on his tow truck.
I called GMAC the next morning and asked to speak with a manager and was transferred to speak with a Jacob **. I then proceeded to again regurgitate the information from previous conversations I held with Bill and Ernest **. He started getting very ignorant and rude, because I began telling him that his rep was at fault for giving me misleading information and having me thinking one thing when it's another. He then crudely stated, "Our rep isn't at fault. You just need to accept responsibility for your actions." I then told him I could have done something, if I had known from the beginning that I wouldn't be eligible for an extension.
The conversation was then ended after that. I called back to speak with another rep and was given a number to what's called their "redemption center," because they're no longer handling my account at the bank, and whatever. I then called the redemption center to complain about the situation, and they said they couldn't do anything about it, because no payment had been posted to my account. Then I finally got to thinking to find my receipt from the money order I sent. I searched frantically for the money order receipt and found it, to call the place I purchased it from.
After getting connected to someone, I gave her the money order number and the amount of the money order. She then told me the money was cashed and cleared on December 28. I then asked "where," and she said I had to come in person for that info to be relayed to me. After bumming a ride to the Currency Exchange I purchased the money order from, the lady printed out a copy of the front and back of the money order to show where it was cashed.
The lettering of the stamp that was used to stamp on the back of the money order was illegible, but the lady said, "it appeared to cashed at a bank, but I can't tell where." So there's a towed car. GMAC still denying any payment being posted to my account. But there's a cashed money order and a distraught individual without a car who has to bum a ride to and from work and has to cancel his classes for the Spring 2010 semester, because he has no one to take him to the university he's attending 35 minutes away in Hammond, IN, and he's living in Joliet, IL!

I took it to a repair shop to have an estimate done on the repair. I later found out the owner of the repair shop had a gambling problem and ran a mechanic line on my vehicle. I was displaced from work at the time due to a work related injury which required lower back surgery. Needless to say, I could not afford the payment much less the repairs. Americredit apparently never received the vehicle and auctioned it off, and I am left with the entire amount owed on the car. The damages were appraised at less then $3,000. My mother purchased a vehicle which was financed by AmeriCredit. My mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer a couple of years after the purchase of the vehicle; through her chemotherapy time frame I continued making the payments on her vehicle to help her out. In January of 2009 my mother lost the battle to cancer.
During the 6-month period which she was in and out of the hospital I contacted AmeriCredit and advised them of my mother's rapid deteriorating state. The cancer had traveled to her head and she was deteriorating rapidly and her mental state was also deteriorating rapidly. I faxed a written request to provide me with the payment information so I could continue making her payments on the vehicle.
AmeriCredit began taking my payments and suddenly decided they would no longer accept payments from me. However, AmeriCredit continuously called me to my personal cell phone and my place of employment up to 20 times per day demanding to speak to my mother. I would continuously advise them that my mother was terminally ill but they on many occasions told me that I was lying to them and that I needed to put her on the phone. I would tell them that I would be submitting her payments AmeriCredit would continuously tell me that they would not be accepting them.
My mother finally passed away from her cancer in January of 2009. AmeriCredit continued to contact me and I then refused to talk to them since they had refused to talk to me during my attempts to assist my mother. They would tell me that I was lying and that my mother had not died. They then began calling my place of employment numerous times even asking to speak to my immediate supervisor and the main boss. I was pulled into the office by my supervisor who advised me that a lady from a company AmeriCredit was continuously calling.
I advised her that I owed the company no money, and the account which they were referring to belonged to my now deceased mother. I felt I had no obligation to them since my name nor signature was on the contract. AmeriCredit continued to harass me calling me 20-30 times daily and even called my sister and offered her $200 if she would give them my address. Since I did not owe them a dime and I never signed a contract with them I am having a hard time understanding why they would go through extreme measures to collect something from me which I did not have. They were very crude at the statements they would make to me and tell me that I needed to tell them where the vehicle was located.
At this point I had no idea where the vehicle was, I simply assisted my mom with payments in her time of need. I didn't feel I was financially obligated to AmeriCredit once my mother passed away. I was threatened by this company so many times and the calls to my place of employment continued 10-15 times per day. Can a company do that? Harass a person who owes them nothing as much as they harassed me? My reputation at work was damaged. The representative was persistent and lied to my supervisor and advised her that I was not paying my debts. I never owed them anything. The embarrassment that was caused to me has caused irreparable damage to my professional status. Receptionists and coworkers all received numerous phone calls from this company looking for me when I owed them nothing. Not to mention my sister being bribed. Can companies do that? Bribe people like that? I am appalled at the things corporations get away with and it seems like we can do nothing about it.

My job where I had been working full-time at for three years came in one day and told me they had to cut my hours due to the economy. Well due to them cutting my hours at work, naturally I wasn't making the same amount as before and began to fall behind on my bills including my car payment in which I had financed through Americredit. I contacted Americredit to let them know my payment will be late because my hours were cut back from full-time to part-time and my income was drastically reduced. I informed them I would make my payment, but it would be late. Of course they continued to call me numerous times a day afterwards even after I spoke with at least three different reps. Well, a few months after that, I ended up losing my job.
Well I contacted Americredit once again to let them know I now have no job and was waiting to hear from unemployment. The rep I spoke with was rude, had a horrible attitude and told me when I find out about how much unemployment I get, I need to inform her with that information and maybe I need to return the car to them if I can't make the payments! How rude. She made no apologies or showed no sympathy for me losing my employment. Well since then, I have spoke to at least three other reps and then talked to a Christine at Americredit, who was extremely rude and arrogant with me and wouldn't work with me at all with the payments.
Christine even talked over me and had the nerve to argue with me on the phone because I informed her Americredit was harassing me with phone calls everyday numbering at least 8-10 per day even though I have been in contact with them the entire time and they knew I would make my payment, but it was going to be late. They continued to call and call, and Americredit called me so many times my voicemail was completely full and this was after I informed them also that this was my cell phone as I had no landline. They were using up my minutes. Americredit didn't care at all. I told this to Christine, and she was sarcastic and told me their "legal dept" didn't view that as harassment, even though Americredit continues to call me everyday nonstop at least ten times per day, sometimes more.
I also told Christine I would file a complaint against them with the BBB and Consumer Affairs and she told me bluntly "If that's what you need to do to be happy, then do it!" In addition, Americredit charges the highest interest rates on their financing and I have also asked for that to be reduced because it takes forever to pay your car off and they are basically acting like the Mafia, charging high interest rates and then threatening to take your car, and harassing you at work and home with numerous phone calls a day! I've had problem after problem with my 2004 Cavalier including the fact that the car cuts off at various intervals like it did with me when I was on the interstate. It just cut off on me in the middle of traffic and no mechanic can find out what's wrong. What I owe left on the car is two times more than what it's even worth now! I still receive numerous calls everyday as of the present date so that still continues!

They said that if I don't miss a payment within 6 months, I can transfer the car to my name and they would lower the payments. Well it was a lie. I'm still paying $568.00, and the car is still under her name. I had an accident with the same car and been out of work since 3-24-09. I explained all this to Americredit, because my family's been helping me with food and shelter and the car payment. My father is even willing to give me $3000.00 to buy off the car from the bank so I won't lose it and also not to damage my sister-in-law's credit. But I can't get no one to help me. Not Americredit or Huntington Bank.
The car was fixed but is not the same, and it now has more mileage, so it doesn't have the same book value. I don't want to lose the car, but I can't make the monthly payments anymore. I feel terrible, because I don't want my sister-in-law's credit. She did me this favor and now what? Nobody thinks about the damage this situation is causing. Bronx Suzuki lied when they said the payment would be lowered in 6 months; they only care about making their money. Americredit doesn't want to understand my situation. I heard of people that can't afford their payment and were able to settle with the bank to buy off the car. My father is willing to help me to get out of the situation by buying the car. To me, the bank is not losing or the customer. The economy is real bad now, and there is no money out there. This is a used car plus it was already involved in an accident. I am an activated Navy reservist. Upon notification that I was being mobilized and deployed to Southwest Asia, I contacted AmeriCredit in reference to a leased vehicle. I inquired about the possibility of an early termination of my lease under the terms of the Soldiers & Sailors Civil Relief Act (SSCRA). At that time, I was transferred to a representative in the Recovery and Collections department. I spoke with the representative and was informed that I could turn the vehicle in and that it would be treated as an early termination of a lease, the same as it would be treated if I had purchased a new vehicle and traded the vehicle in. I then discussed what needed to happen to start the process. I made several follow up calls, and made every attempt to make the process, as easy as possible.
After the vehicle was recovered by the company, I received bills from them stating that I owed them over $8,000 to complete the process. My wife made a few calls and the situation was quickly corrected and the company sent us letters stating that all debts were paid and that the account was closed. My wife and I made follow up calls to ensure that everything was completed and that the transaction was reported to the credit bureau accurately. A few months after completing the process, I found that AmeriCredit had reported to the credit bureau that the vehicle was a voluntarily surrender and that I had an outstanding balance of over $8,000. My wife again contacted AmeriCredit and advised them of the error on the credit report. The customer service representative (CSR) that she initially spoke to, at that time, told her that she was unclear how that would have happened because the account was clearly marked in several locations, stating that it was being turned in under the SSCRA. She was then transferred to the supervisor of the CSR for resolution.
My wife spoke to the supervisor about the issues. Then I called and spoke to the supervisor, and we were both told that while he knew that the reporting was not accurate, that he could not change the reporting, and if we wanted it fixed, that we need to contact the credit bureau and file a dispute, and then he would fix the reporting. We did as he asked, even though I am aware that he could fix the issue without us jumping though all the hoops. And he did respond quickly to the dispute letters upon receipt of them, but he then reported to the credit bureau that the account was paid in full, and that the vehicle had been repossessed! As a result of these issues that I am having with this company and their credit bureau reporting process, my credit score has gone from the 800’s to the low 700’s. My wife and I recently attempted to get credit to make a purchase and for the first time in my life, I was declined.
I have started receiving notices from all my credit card companies stating that if I default or am late on any payments, they will more than double my interest rate. My wife and I have had impeccable credit for many years. I couldn’t even tell you the last time I was late on a payment, including this account. I have made every effort to remedy this issue though the company. The supervisor that I have spoken to refuses to provide me with the name and extension number of his supervisor or of any other person that I can talk to in an attempt to resolve this issue. I am reluctant to get military or government attorneys involved, but if I can’t get this resolved any other way, I will be forced to go that route. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Serving one's country does not pay well financially, only well in personal satisfaction of knowing I am doing my duty, so now I am out 2 car payments instead of 1 and all they can tell me to do is call them again next week.
I am out $544.82 with very little confidence that GMAC will reimburse me. It seems very cruel for a corporation to deny a man who is serving his country an amount which is probably less than their big wig corporate execs spend on lunch. This has taken time away from my duties to sit on hold on the phone and caused me a considerable amount of stress.

I cosigned for my son to buy a 2001 GMAC truck, he was late 31 times but nobody from GMAC contacted me, they had all my info, they could have even contacted me at work but did not, I had no idea my son was ever late, If I did I would have paid myself. when I finally found out, I paid the truck off. Also GMAC had me down as a Co-buyer (which I had no idea that I was) I was only supposed to be the co-signer. I have contacted GMAC they had no records of trying to contact me.
this is a reflection on my credit report which at one time was perfect. Is there anyting I can do to have this taken off my credit report?

I purchased a 1996 BMC Sonoma pickup truck (1GTCS1944T8529489) on Dec. 28, 1996 from GMAC. I paid the vehicle off in full in April 17, 2000. I would like to sell it but I cannot get a lien release. I have called GMAC every other day for the past two months and they take the information, and do nothing. What do I need to do. I even told them I would pay. They are just giving me lip service. What can I do? I am trying to finalize the sale of this truck for $800.00. This document is preventing the sale.

My poor credit history was did get an approval wtih GMAC with an interest rate of 10%. I was like NO WAY but since I was concerned with the economic, I went on the getting the loan for 1 reason: I had the money more or less and I wanted to have the money to account and make more in case of emergencies.
Before signing the dotted line of the loan, I asked the car dealership if I could the balance in May (because the first due date was 6/4/08) and pay the balance off since I could. They stated that contacting GMAC financial would not be an issue on that. So on 4/24/08, I signed the dotted line.
One less than a week, I checked my account information and confirmed that I had enough money (my gf helped me out and more or less hers). I called in the first week of May (Monday). And they stated that they do not have my information and the car dealership has not processed it. I called the dealership and stated that they already have. So I call back and the representative stated that it would take between 30-45days for processing.
I was like what? I asked why does it take so long because I wanted to pay the balance off. I even asked if I could just send out a check with my information on so that they do not CHARGE ME FINANCE CHARGES. They said that it should not be an issue and call back again.2nd week and 3rd week, I called and no account information. I stated then how would you know if I called and wanted to pay the balance in full and not charge me interest. They stated that it would be fine.
After my 4th week, I called and still no account information (talk about helpless nor do they even send any information about my account all this time). Finally on Thursday, the 1st bill for the car loan shows up. I saw the balance and my fd wrote out a check (which was posted on 5/30). I was like ok, I should be done since the balance is the amount I wrote.
On June 6, 2008, I get a letter from GMAC financing telling me that there is a remaining balance of $286.38 written on June 2) that I ave to pay that balance in full before or on June 12, 2008 (which gives me less than 6 including weekend). I was like eh? And I called GMAC. What was even funny was my account has a balance of $300.86 now. I talked to customer representative and asked how could the finance charge be that high? They stated it was the interest rate from Apr 28 to time of posting of May 30. I was like ok but then why should I be penalized when I called to pay the balance in full 4 weeks ago and no one could pull my account?
They stated that it takes 30-45 days to process. I was like one sec. If I had the money to pay and wanted to pay the balance all this time. Who is at fault for the balance when:
1) I called and asked about this scenario when I wanted to pay in full last month
2) I have no control on your processing but expedited because I call the dealership and everything to confirm it is in your hand
3) Gain interest when you would not take my money to post into an account because YOU DO NOT HAVE AN ACCOUNT NUMBER.
I was directed quality assurance who basically told me that it is in the contract. I was like NO nor did I read anything like that (again, I can't be certain because buying a car is a long and painful process) but CLEARLY, I told the car dealership of early payoff for the balance. I even acknowledged the QA personnel that I could agree with even 2 weeks of finance charge but the WHOLE TIME when I wanted to pay?
So now, I am going to pay it off so my credit score do not get scarred but this charging me something that I wanted earlier because they could not take care of it. So I am penalized for this slow processing and charge me while I am waiting?
This is ridiculous with my lost time to try to pay the amount in full. Isn't this what GMAC wants.. Someone to pay the bill ontime?

My father purchased a car which was financed through Americredit in February 2004. He actually purchased the car for me. Within the last year, I went through a financial hardship which almost involved a foreclosure on my home. However, I talked with many representatives at Americredit, and to no avail, they don't take good notes, so that the next representative will know what happened prior to the next person calling.
I never signed a contract with Americredit, the car was in my fathers name, but they knew I drove the car. I could not conduct any other business concerning the account, but they called me for payments. However, when it got to a point that I could not make the original payments, I asked for a refinance to lower payments (they could not discuss that with me) so they refused. My father took the car to trade it and we asked for a settlement price to get rid of it, and they refused that offer. They were not willing to work any deal, they just wanted astronomical late fees, plus the deliquent amount.
Americredit has called my job sometimes upto 5 times a day and at my home, (always a different person). They have harassed my mother, who had nothing to do with transaction. This Jennifer Lane person called my job and talked with a co-worker told her that I was driving a stolen car, and that she needed to let me know to contact her. I never signed a piece of paper with them for anything, and they have harassed me on my job as well as my home, just because they knew I was the driver of the car.
After contacting Jennifer Lane (very nasty, unprofessional and rude person) she sent a tow truck to pick up the car on 04/14/08.

This is in reference to a car loan financed by Americredit Financial Services. I unfortunately had gotten behind in payments a few times, and the company suggested I take a deferment to keep my account current, which I did on 3 occasions for 2 months each. I was charged a fee each time, and the deferments extended the term of the contract end date to May 2005 from November 2004. On statement 59 of 60 they added a lump sum interest charge of $1,978.12 which had not been on any previous statements, and I had never been informed of it. When I inquired about it, I was told it was additional interest because the loan took longer to pay back. So I continued making payments until I was offered a settlement which I accepted and paid in September 2005. The interest charges on 3 of the last 5 payments also went up instead of down. Is this right?
As a result they are now reporting my account as 120 days past due on my credit report. Can they legally do this since they didn't add the additional interest until the last payment? How could I make payments before the end of the contract if they didn't add it until the end of the contract?

May 2007 Americredit repossessed my car due to high interest build up from late payments. Payments were sent every month but just not in the right time frame. I recovered the car within three days, but it was already at the Harrisonburg Auto Auction ready to be sold. I paid the Auto Auction $140.00 to get it off the lot. I went on making payments to Americredit. Thinking all was well, in Jan. 2008, I went to Virginia DMV to get the license tags and found out that my name had been taken off the title back in May 2007 when Americredit repossessed it; and they continued to take payments without telling me. I cannot license the car or do anything with it now.
They did send a Power of Attorney that I signed and returned to have my name put back on the title, but when I called yesterday to find out how that plan was progressing, I was told by Deidra at 877-251-0394 that there was a note on my account that the power of attorney was never received. I would like an audit of the payments and interest paid to this company by me. At this point I have no vehicle to drive to work and no hope of getting one. I live in a sparsely populated area and cannot drive an unlicensed vehicle and cannot park it on a State Facility where I work. When Jim Price Chevrolet sold me this Hyundai, the salesman told me it was a program to build up your credit.
Mental stress as a result of how this ended up, and I have no legal vehicle to drive to keep my job. I have to bum rides or take a taxi until this matter is resolved.

This car loan is in my 24-year-old son's name, and he has never been late since he bought the new car in June 2006, and doesn't plan on being late. He is in the Air Force in Tech School right now, and I am taking care of his bills for him. I was looking at these monthly statements, and under the account activity they have for Jan 26 2008 payment received. $325.93 And under that they post in small print Loan payment -$325.93 ($155.43 principal + $170.50 interest) past due amount $0.00 current payment due $325.93 Total due $325.93 However, they are different every month. The payment of Feb is more to interest than principal. How can all of this be? They have nothing in any of their statements stating their interest charges or how much they charge. I am shocked at what amount he has been paying in interest and what has gone to capital. Is this legal? None of my loans are like this, and none of his credit cards are like this. Is this company ripping off the consumer? I didn't want to ask them as they will say everything in their favor. I am going to look for the other statements.
No where on any statement does it tell how much he has paid in interest. You can only take the original loan of 17,093.47 and subtract the current balance of 13,437.72 and you get 3,655.75 for 20 of 72 payments. And the 325.93 times 20 payments is 6,518.60 which is what he has paid to them, so he is not being charged the 12% that the Saturn dealership set him up with. Sounds more like 50% and a bit illegal to me. How can a consumer fight this since they have already charged a huge amount and don't seem to make it easy to supply info? Thank you for your time.
Big loss of money, this is not the car loan from the Saturn Dealer of West Palm Beach that was at 12 % offered to him that night and signed that night between him and Americredit. How did they get away with charging him what they are doing? The Saturn dealer said if he wasn't late on 1 payment, he could refinance in 1 year at a lower rate, but we would like to see if first we need to complain to the right authorities about Americredit before refinancing. We also should not let this co. get away with hurting my son or any other hard working people or youngsters. He was willing to pay the 12% higher interest to take out a new car loan in his own name at age 22 without a co signer instead of having a cosigner and getting it at 6% back then because the dealership told him it would be just for a year as long as he was never late. So he is upset that he has been grossly overcharged and has not been late and has not been able to refinance.

I have a car loan with Americredit. I pay my payment on line because it takes them 10 days to process payment, and they count them late if they are not there 10-14 days before they are due. I paid on line and get a confirmation number, but they wouldn't process them so they count them late and report it to the credit agencies. I still had to pay the late fee for all payments that they didn't process. They said it was a computer problem, but when I didn't want to pay the late fee they blamed me for the wrong checking account number. It is saved on my computer; I pay all my bills that way, and it wasn't wrong. They reported me late, ruined my credit and threatened to take my car if I didn't pay the late fees. That was last year's experience with them.
This year I moved. I told them the new address and e-mail and new job . They still send my statements to the old address and old e-mail, but they call and harass me at work and our front desk. I had a bad year; our house caught on fire and had $9000 in damage. It got us behind in our bills, and my husband lost his job. When I tried to arrange help, they told me that my life drama wasn't their problem, and I need to pay my bills. They sent a man to get my car 3 days before Christmas, but the car wasn't there. I've been theatened, harassed, yelled at and put down by their representatives. I can't find one person who will listen or help. They call my cell phone 20 times in one day and filled my voicemail, and my battery went dead. I have four children that couldn't get a hold of me if they tried. I still can't get help. Can you help me? No attorney can or won't. I get my income tax back soon and want to get this settled so I can trade this car in to get away from this company, but they have ruined my credit.
They have caused my boss to get so upset that my job is threatened. I've been so stressed out! I can't drive the car in fear that they will take it. I'm trying to caught up, but the interest and late fees are so great. I have paid $1000.00 in the last month; other bills get put aside. I couldn't afford Christmas for the kids; my family had to get help which was so humiliating. I sent all I had to them to stop it.

Only 2 payments left we were told we would be receiveing our clear title because everything was paid off because of the reposession we were brought current with everything. The last 2 payments were made. 3 months later we had not received clear title, I was told we still owed over $2400.00 after speaking to many people no one could tell us why we owed the money. We had a charge-off on our credit report done July 2004 which stated my installment loan was for 67 payments. Loan was for 60. It took me until now to figure out the mistake so I decided to write letters to show them why we do not owe the money and never heard back. Please help if you can
This has effected our credit report and we have had trouble getting our car registered. Many economic problems because of credit report and the missing items from our car at the reposession totaled over $700.00.

Now that I am on my last payment of $362.21, they tell me I have a balance of $4600!! The original amount financed was only $15,000 so on top of the $8,000 I paid in interest, they now want what is equivalent to almost 1/3 of the original amount financed in order to consider this paid off!! They tell me that because I chose to pay my loan late throughout the course of the loan, that I incurred additional interest charges EACH AND EVERY DAY!! This is utterly absurd.

I found out later I needed to call GMAC and have a Truepay Rep apply the payment to my late fees. GMAC has continually called me in reference to this payment during my hours of work, when I am unable to answer the phone due to the fact that I am an Emergency Medical Technician and engaged in continious patient care. They have continued to call me to the point of harrassment even though I have told them NOT to call me during these certain hours.
When attempting to call their main number to speak with a Customer Rep, all lines have been busy for the past 2 weeks. Each time I am on hold, their phone system will automatically Disconnect after 45 minutes on hold. Due to this, I have been unable to make a payment towards these late charges. I have also sent an EMail to them via their homepage over a week ago and have not recieved a response to that either. Ultimately, I called their Assistance phone number to request a new payment book in hopes I could pay the late charges via it, and was told by the computer system that they now have no records of my account number or Social Security number in their systems. I will continue to try to contact them on a daily basis.
