I reached a settlement with Americredit in the amount of $1,576.00 that was due on 06/30/2009. They sent me the agreement in writing and per the agreement, once the amount was received, this account would be closed and the settled status would be reported to the applicable reporting agencies. Also on the check, in the memo field, "Paid in Full" was also written which was cashed and from my understanding, this too is a binding contract once the funds have been cashed. I received a letter today stating that the account will be reported as settled in full as a "charge off" and nowhere in the document that I received were the words or indication of "charge off" referred to. If the account was just going to be considered a "charge off' anyway, what was the use in me paying them $1,576.00? How do I proceed in regards to a dispute with Americredit because they have violated the agreement and contract? Do I have any recourse here?

I called Americredit this morning to make payment arrangements with them. I was four payments behind and was sending them what I could when I could. I was greeted by a rep this morning that told me I could make my payment by 5 pm PST; however, at 4:15, a tow company showed up and took my car away. I was immediately on the phone to Americredit who then transferred me around and I was told they could not do anything unless I paid them to current plus the repo fees. I have been with this company for two years and always made my payments on time. I came into a financial hardship and was not working. I have been actively looking for work and Americredit has been understanding to work with me, until today. And now, I can't seem to get anywhere with them. It is frustrating to have a customer service rep tell me to get my payment in by 5, and things will be okay, and then upper management reviews my loan and has the car repossessed. Frustrated and carless.

I bought a car from Bill Heard Chevrolet on a promotion "Finance now get refinance in a year," lowering my APR and lowering my payment to improve my credit. After a year, that didn't happen. I only went for it because of the promotion. After I continued struggling trying to make payments, I realized that my balance wasn't going down. I asked Americredit for a printout of my payment history and they refused. I filed an injunction against them to take them to court to keep them from repossessing my car. After 6 months, I finally got the payment history which showed fraudulent activity payments not credited properly. After investigating, I found hundreds of thousands with similar complaints.

I have become disabled due to back problems and Alzheimer's Disease. I have not been able to work since January of 2008. My income is now fixed. My monthly net income has been reduced by about $2,000.00 per month. I have $800.00 a month in medical bills. My credit has not been perfect but I try to pay necessary bills each month. I have had 2 car loans with AmeriCredit. The first loan was paid off. My current loan was supposed to be for 72 months but after the car was purchased they changed it to 79 months. It has a 18% interest rate.
That is very high for a car loan. I have made all but 29 payments and now I am having trouble keeping up with payments due to my medical expenses. I sometimes get a few weeks behind due to my payment date and the date which I receive my disability payment. So I am having difficulty making full payments and making them on time. I need the car and want to continue making payments until the loan is paid off. I don't have any other options. I can't afford to pay cash for another car and can't get another loan due to my limited and fixed income.

After going through a divorce I was awarded a 2006 Chevrolet Equinox LT. The only problem was that the loan through GMAC was in my ex-wife's name, so I had to refinance it in my own name. Being a service member I decided to use USAA with whom I have always experienced fantastic service. The loan was refinanced and GMAC received full payment on 8/4/08. Unfortunately I had signed up for automatic payment which had a scheduled withdrawal date of 8/5/08. $544.84 was withdrawn from my account on 8/5/08, 1 day after the acount had already been paid in full.
I contact GMAC immediately upon discovering this and was told that there was no record of this payment being received, but that an investigation would be opened, this was on 8/8/08. I called back on 8/14/08 and was informed that nothing had been done so I faxed a copy of my bank statement showing the amount that had been withdrawn.
I called back on 8/15/08 and nothing had been done. Meanwhile I have a payment due to USAA on 8/15. Serving one's country does not pay well financially, only well in personal satisfaction of knowing I am doing my duty, so now I am out 2 car payments instead of 1 and all they can tell me to do is call them again next week.
I am out $544.82 with very little confidence that GMAC will reimburse me. It seems very cruel for a corporation to deny a man who is serving his country an amount which is probably less than their big wig corporate execs spend on lunch. This has taken time away from my duties to sit on hold on the phone and caused me a considerable amount of stress.

I cosigned for my son to buy a 2001 GMAC truck, he was late 31 times but nobody from GMAC contacted me, they had all my info, they could have even contacted me at work but did not, I had no idea my son was ever late, If I did I would have paid myself. when I finally found out, I paid the truck off. Also GMAC had me down as a Co-buyer (which I had no idea that I was) I was only supposed to be the co-signer. I have contacted GMAC they had no records of trying to contact me.
this is a reflection on my credit report which at one time was perfect. Is there anyting I can do to have this taken off my credit report?

I purchased a 1996 BMC Sonoma pickup truck (1GTCS1944T8529489) on Dec. 28, 1996 from GMAC. I paid the vehicle off in full in April 17, 2000. I would like to sell it but I cannot get a lien release. I have called GMAC every other day for the past two months and they take the information, and do nothing. What do I need to do. I even told them I would pay. They are just giving me lip service. What can I do? I am trying to finalize the sale of this truck for $800.00. This document is preventing the sale.

My poor credit history was did get an approval wtih GMAC with an interest rate of 10%. I was like NO WAY but since I was concerned with the economic, I went on the getting the loan for 1 reason: I had the money more or less and I wanted to have the money to account and make more in case of emergencies.
Before signing the dotted line of the loan, I asked the car dealership if I could the balance in May (because the first due date was 6/4/08) and pay the balance off since I could. They stated that contacting GMAC financial would not be an issue on that. So on 4/24/08, I signed the dotted line.
One less than a week, I checked my account information and confirmed that I had enough money (my gf helped me out and more or less hers). I called in the first week of May (Monday). And they stated that they do not have my information and the car dealership has not processed it. I called the dealership and stated that they already have. So I call back and the representative stated that it would take between 30-45days for processing.
I was like what? I asked why does it take so long because I wanted to pay the balance off. I even asked if I could just send out a check with my information on so that they do not CHARGE ME FINANCE CHARGES. They said that it should not be an issue and call back again.2nd week and 3rd week, I called and no account information. I stated then how would you know if I called and wanted to pay the balance in full and not charge me interest. They stated that it would be fine.
After my 4th week, I called and still no account information (talk about helpless nor do they even send any information about my account all this time). Finally on Thursday, the 1st bill for the car loan shows up. I saw the balance and my fd wrote out a check (which was posted on 5/30). I was like ok, I should be done since the balance is the amount I wrote.
On June 6, 2008, I get a letter from GMAC financing telling me that there is a remaining balance of $286.38 written on June 2) that I ave to pay that balance in full before or on June 12, 2008 (which gives me less than 6 including weekend). I was like eh? And I called GMAC. What was even funny was my account has a balance of $300.86 now. I talked to customer representative and asked how could the finance charge be that high? They stated it was the interest rate from Apr 28 to time of posting of May 30. I was like ok but then why should I be penalized when I called to pay the balance in full 4 weeks ago and no one could pull my account?
They stated that it takes 30-45 days to process. I was like one sec. If I had the money to pay and wanted to pay the balance all this time. Who is at fault for the balance when:
1) I called and asked about this scenario when I wanted to pay in full last month
2) I have no control on your processing but expedited because I call the dealership and everything to confirm it is in your hand
3) Gain interest when you would not take my money to post into an account because YOU DO NOT HAVE AN ACCOUNT NUMBER.
I was directed quality assurance who basically told me that it is in the contract. I was like NO nor did I read anything like that (again, I can't be certain because buying a car is a long and painful process) but CLEARLY, I told the car dealership of early payoff for the balance. I even acknowledged the QA personnel that I could agree with even 2 weeks of finance charge but the WHOLE TIME when I wanted to pay?
So now, I am going to pay it off so my credit score do not get scarred but this charging me something that I wanted earlier because they could not take care of it. So I am penalized for this slow processing and charge me while I am waiting?
This is ridiculous with my lost time to try to pay the amount in full. Isn't this what GMAC wants.. Someone to pay the bill ontime?

My father purchased a car which was financed through Americredit in February 2004. He actually purchased the car for me. Within the last year, I went through a financial hardship which almost involved a foreclosure on my home. However, I talked with many representatives at Americredit, and to no avail, they don't take good notes, so that the next representative will know what happened prior to the next person calling.
I never signed a contract with Americredit, the car was in my fathers name, but they knew I drove the car. I could not conduct any other business concerning the account, but they called me for payments. However, when it got to a point that I could not make the original payments, I asked for a refinance to lower payments (they could not discuss that with me) so they refused. My father took the car to trade it and we asked for a settlement price to get rid of it, and they refused that offer. They were not willing to work any deal, they just wanted astronomical late fees, plus the deliquent amount.
Americredit has called my job sometimes upto 5 times a day and at my home, (always a different person). They have harassed my mother, who had nothing to do with transaction. This Jennifer Lane person called my job and talked with a co-worker told her that I was driving a stolen car, and that she needed to let me know to contact her. I never signed a piece of paper with them for anything, and they have harassed me on my job as well as my home, just because they knew I was the driver of the car.
After contacting Jennifer Lane (very nasty, unprofessional and rude person) she sent a tow truck to pick up the car on 04/14/08.

This is in reference to a car loan financed by Americredit Financial Services. I unfortunately had gotten behind in payments a few times, and the company suggested I take a deferment to keep my account current, which I did on 3 occasions for 2 months each. I was charged a fee each time, and the deferments extended the term of the contract end date to May 2005 from November 2004. On statement 59 of 60 they added a lump sum interest charge of $1,978.12 which had not been on any previous statements, and I had never been informed of it. When I inquired about it, I was told it was additional interest because the loan took longer to pay back. So I continued making payments until I was offered a settlement which I accepted and paid in September 2005. The interest charges on 3 of the last 5 payments also went up instead of down. Is this right?
As a result they are now reporting my account as 120 days past due on my credit report. Can they legally do this since they didn't add the additional interest until the last payment? How could I make payments before the end of the contract if they didn't add it until the end of the contract?

May 2007 Americredit repossessed my car due to high interest build up from late payments. Payments were sent every month but just not in the right time frame. I recovered the car within three days, but it was already at the Harrisonburg Auto Auction ready to be sold. I paid the Auto Auction $140.00 to get it off the lot. I went on making payments to Americredit. Thinking all was well, in Jan. 2008, I went to Virginia DMV to get the license tags and found out that my name had been taken off the title back in May 2007 when Americredit repossessed it; and they continued to take payments without telling me. I cannot license the car or do anything with it now.
They did send a Power of Attorney that I signed and returned to have my name put back on the title, but when I called yesterday to find out how that plan was progressing, I was told by Deidra at 877-251-0394 that there was a note on my account that the power of attorney was never received. I would like an audit of the payments and interest paid to this company by me. At this point I have no vehicle to drive to work and no hope of getting one. I live in a sparsely populated area and cannot drive an unlicensed vehicle and cannot park it on a State Facility where I work. When Jim Price Chevrolet sold me this Hyundai, the salesman told me it was a program to build up your credit.
Mental stress as a result of how this ended up, and I have no legal vehicle to drive to keep my job. I have to bum rides or take a taxi until this matter is resolved.

This car loan is in my 24-year-old son's name, and he has never been late since he bought the new car in June 2006, and doesn't plan on being late. He is in the Air Force in Tech School right now, and I am taking care of his bills for him. I was looking at these monthly statements, and under the account activity they have for Jan 26 2008 payment received. $325.93 And under that they post in small print Loan payment -$325.93 ($155.43 principal + $170.50 interest) past due amount $0.00 current payment due $325.93 Total due $325.93 However, they are different every month. The payment of Feb is more to interest than principal. How can all of this be? They have nothing in any of their statements stating their interest charges or how much they charge. I am shocked at what amount he has been paying in interest and what has gone to capital. Is this legal? None of my loans are like this, and none of his credit cards are like this. Is this company ripping off the consumer? I didn't want to ask them as they will say everything in their favor. I am going to look for the other statements.
No where on any statement does it tell how much he has paid in interest. You can only take the original loan of 17,093.47 and subtract the current balance of 13,437.72 and you get 3,655.75 for 20 of 72 payments. And the 325.93 times 20 payments is 6,518.60 which is what he has paid to them, so he is not being charged the 12% that the Saturn dealership set him up with. Sounds more like 50% and a bit illegal to me. How can a consumer fight this since they have already charged a huge amount and don't seem to make it easy to supply info? Thank you for your time.
Big loss of money, this is not the car loan from the Saturn Dealer of West Palm Beach that was at 12 % offered to him that night and signed that night between him and Americredit. How did they get away with charging him what they are doing? The Saturn dealer said if he wasn't late on 1 payment, he could refinance in 1 year at a lower rate, but we would like to see if first we need to complain to the right authorities about Americredit before refinancing. We also should not let this co. get away with hurting my son or any other hard working people or youngsters. He was willing to pay the 12% higher interest to take out a new car loan in his own name at age 22 without a co signer instead of having a cosigner and getting it at 6% back then because the dealership told him it would be just for a year as long as he was never late. So he is upset that he has been grossly overcharged and has not been late and has not been able to refinance.

I have a car loan with Americredit. I pay my payment on line because it takes them 10 days to process payment, and they count them late if they are not there 10-14 days before they are due. I paid on line and get a confirmation number, but they wouldn't process them so they count them late and report it to the credit agencies. I still had to pay the late fee for all payments that they didn't process. They said it was a computer problem, but when I didn't want to pay the late fee they blamed me for the wrong checking account number. It is saved on my computer; I pay all my bills that way, and it wasn't wrong. They reported me late, ruined my credit and threatened to take my car if I didn't pay the late fees. That was last year's experience with them.
This year I moved. I told them the new address and e-mail and new job . They still send my statements to the old address and old e-mail, but they call and harass me at work and our front desk. I had a bad year; our house caught on fire and had $9000 in damage. It got us behind in our bills, and my husband lost his job. When I tried to arrange help, they told me that my life drama wasn't their problem, and I need to pay my bills. They sent a man to get my car 3 days before Christmas, but the car wasn't there. I've been theatened, harassed, yelled at and put down by their representatives. I can't find one person who will listen or help. They call my cell phone 20 times in one day and filled my voicemail, and my battery went dead. I have four children that couldn't get a hold of me if they tried. I still can't get help. Can you help me? No attorney can or won't. I get my income tax back soon and want to get this settled so I can trade this car in to get away from this company, but they have ruined my credit.
They have caused my boss to get so upset that my job is threatened. I've been so stressed out! I can't drive the car in fear that they will take it. I'm trying to caught up, but the interest and late fees are so great. I have paid $1000.00 in the last month; other bills get put aside. I couldn't afford Christmas for the kids; my family had to get help which was so humiliating. I sent all I had to them to stop it.

I found out later I needed to call GMAC and have a Truepay Rep apply the payment to my late fees. GMAC has continually called me in reference to this payment during my hours of work, when I am unable to answer the phone due to the fact that I am an Emergency Medical Technician and engaged in continious patient care. When attempting to call their main number to speak with a Customer Rep, all lines have been busy for the past 2 weeks. I have been on family medical leave for the past 5 months. During that time I have been in contact with Americredit regarding my truck loan. Most recently my employer pulled my medical sick bank time and I was left with no income for 2 months. On many occasions I spoke with 2 or 3 different people at Americredit about my sitatuaion. Each person was unaware of the previous person contacting me. My phone would ring at all hours of the day and night including weekends and holidays.
Finally, I was given a one time offer to take the 2 late payments and place them at the end of my loan. I was then to get back to my regular payment schedule. Unfortunately my disability payments will not start for another 3-4 weeks. In the meantime a severe wind storm dropped a tree branch on my truck causing several thousand dollars in damages. My insurance company issued me a damage check.
I contacted Americredit and spoke to one of their credit supervisors. I requested that the insurance check be applied to my late payments stating this would help me get caught up. I was told I could do this. I was again contacted by Americredit and told that the check had been applied to the principal and NOT the payments. I spoke to another supervisor and was told that no one at their offices had given permission for the check to be applied to payments. 2 days ago I was in receipt of a letter stating that per my request the insurance check was applied to my loan principle. They harass me at home, on my cell, at work. They block their number and pretend to be a friend when I answer. They leave voicemails saying: "hey girl... it's debra. when are we gonna get together? call me at ... and we'll figure it out!" When I call back I get, "you have reached Americredit".
They call me at 6 am, they call me at 10:30pm. They will not listen to reason... they argue with me when I have a crying baby in the background to the point where I have to hang up on them. Because of this company, their antics and there lack of reasoning, my credit score is close to non-existent. I was qualified to buy a home a year ago... not anymore! Thanks Americredit!

I bought a 2001 mustang for my daughter. Everything was going fine untill she got laid off from work. She steadly got behind and asked Americredit to lower her payments. The reply was NO. I asked to refinance the car and NO was the answer again.
My daughter is fighting to make the payments but the interest and late payments just put her farther behind. The car will take 10 years to pay off because Americredit refuses to help.

In May 2006, We mailed Americredit 2 separate payments one for $65.00 just to go to interest and one for $535.00. (my payment is $533.00) Americredit cashed the $65.00 and said they never received the $535.00 even though they were in the same envelope. We called our bank and put a stop payment on the check to Americredit. We immediately made a payment online to them. In June when I sent the payment to Americredit, the payment was stopped by the bank by mistake thinking it was to be all payments and not just the one for May.
On June 29th Americredit came to our place of residence and repossessed our vehicle due to non-payment and we told them there must be some mistake as we had made a payment in May and June. They said that the May payment was late and the June payment was stopped payment. We told them that the May payment was lost by them and that we had to put a stop payment on the check and that is why it was late. We had no idea that the bank had indeed put a stop payment on the June payment also.
We told them we could make them 2 payments on the spot over the phone and would call the bank in the morning as it was after 7 pm and the bank was closed. They told us they would have to repo the vehicle anyway and we would have to get it back in the morning. The next morning my husband called them numerous times on the 30th and paid the past due amounts, the late fees, the next month's payment and all the towing charges but we were not able to pick up the vehicle until almost 4 pm that afternoon as they were reluctant to even tell us where our vehicle was located.
In July we sent them a payment for August as our payments are due on the 2nd of each month and the check for $550.00 cleared our bank on the 17th of July. Americredit still does not show any receipt of that payment and now the 3rd of August, say that we owe for 2 payments. We had the bank fax them a copy of the cancelled check on July 28th 2006 and information showing that it had indeed cleared the bank on the 17th of July 2006. On Monday, July 31st we called them asking that it be corrected in our account and were told that they had 48 business hours to check with the bank and to call them the next day. We did so and asked to talk to the correction department who was supposed to be handling the matter and were told we were not allowed to talk to the correction department.
Today is the 3rd of August, almost a week after the bank sent them verification of the cleared check and they still have not credited our account with the payment. We are afraid they are going to try to reposses it again even though we are caught up but they are not willing to post the payment to our account.
We were without a vehicle due to the repossession on the 29th of June. We had to pay to put a stop payment on the check they lost. We had to pay tow charges along with storage and repossession charges. There is now damage to the right side quarter panel of the car due to the repossession company and feel that Americredit should be responsible for this.

I purchased a car on August 15, 2005. It was financed through Americredit. I traded the car May 9, 2006. The payoff amount was quoted to me as more than my balance. I find this very unethical and have never dealt with any lender in which you did not receive a substantial amount for paying off the loan early. I feel I should be given compensation since I paid off the loan 58 months early. This is clearly misrepresentation on their part. Had I known this at the time I purchased the original vehicle I never would have done business with them.
I ended up paying the entire amount of the loan - interest and all. I feel I should be entitled to compensation for paying off the loan 58 months early.

This company accepted and cash the check, but they have never stop harassing us and they have continue to report negative information to the credit bereau every month.
This is constantly hurting us in the credit department. We have attempted to solve this through the credit bereau but they continue to imput whatever this compay say.

I am having financial hardship. When I purchased my car from Toyota of Long Beach CA I was naive about financing process, they allowed me to purchase the car with down payment even though I had credit issues, they said not to worry. I recieved 2 refusals from to other co. and approved by Americredit. I make on line payments since I never know when I can make my payment. If there is an error processing payment they don't inform you they just double bill you charging you late fees and western uion fee for processing, don't forget the interest.
If I make an error it takes all day to get thru and when I do I they refuse to help, they refuse to transfer to mangement and when they do they disconnect call, it takes me calling back 3-4 times demanding not to be disconnected and speak to management to have an payment error corrected and after all that I was charged for it. I don't know what time age their since they use Western Union to process payment. I do know this all other companies have their own charge machines so are even linked with P.C.'s, even small revenue companies have them.

I lost my job in August. I contacted Americredit and deferred my August and September payments. In December I started getting harrassing phone calls from Americredit, 2-3 times daily, telling me that I was 3 months behind on my car payment. I explained about the deferred payments.
In January I got another call from Americredit telling me I had not made December's payment. I verified my payment. 3 days later I get another phone call saying I had not made a payment. I again verified January's payment and "Romeo" was confused on why he called me.
2 days later I get a phone call from the financial manager stating I had not made a December or January payment. I was baffled at this point with the lack of communication skills in the company. I again verified both payments.
Again this month, Febuary, I get another call from them. I told them I was going to photocopy all my payments and have my lawyer contact them to straighten it out because they had ruined my credit.
Americredit told me they didn't have time to deal with my lawyer. It's funny that they have time to make 2-3 harrassing phone calls everyday, but they don't have time to straighten out their mistakes with my lawyer.

I've had a car loan with them for 3 years. Due to surgery and subsequent financial losses I have gotten behind in my payments. In 2004 they offered to place 2 payments at the end of the loan due date for a fee of $123.00. That essentially was the beginning of the problems.
Americredit reps have called every day, for over a year, on my cell and home phones asking for postdated checks. They also call on the same day they receive payment for the next promised payment.

I lost my job and took just under 2 months to get another job. Americredit would not allow me to change my withdrawl date without being up to date. They would not allow me to add the payments onto the end of the originally agreed term of the auto loan.
This company is very much like the Capital One commercials where the only answer they know or give is NO! I continued to make my payments every month being 2 payments behind and had to fork out $20 for every payment as they would not accept post dated cheques, only Western Union payments.

We have fallen behind with our payments. If we are just two days late with our monthly truck payment they call and leave a message -not just one message, but 4 messages at home, 3 on my cell phone and 4 or 5 at work. They do not even give you a chance to call back. They do not realize that we are working to earn the money to pay them and yet they harrass you to no end!
Even this month I was able to return the call and report the payment schedule for the next few weeks and still had three messages at home, two on my cell phone and they called right away this morning at my place of employment.

Signed a loan with Americredit then my husband & I both lost jobs. We have been trying to get caught up, but Americredit will not work with me.
They call all the time, to my work, friends, family - not once, but several times a day. Most reps are rude and get conflicting information, etc. They told me I could not have a payoff because I was 27 days late.
I have sent cease & disist orders - they ignore them. Asked them not to call cell phone - they still do. I have had as many as 8 phone calls a day for only being 10 days behind. Calls at home start as early as 7:30 a.m. on weekends and weekdays and continue after 9:00 p.m.

I financed a vehicle thru this company, had some hardships in my life, and got behind on my payments. But I did tell them that I would pay off the loan, which I did in August of 2005. It is now November 13th and I have not yet received the title to the vehicle.
I called to inquire about the title and was tranfered to four different people before ending up with someone that was rude, not to mention no help. I was told that a release of interest was mailed to me on September 6th 2005. I told him, "This is true, but I still have no title". I was told to take the papers to DMV and pay for a new title.
The Americredit rep said "It looks like you settled this account" and when I said "yes, I did" he said "Well, then the way I see it we lost money and I think you can pay for another title because we don't know where it is"!

First: I'm a displaced Hurricane Katrina Victim from St. Bernard Parish, LA now living in WY. Second: I went through a divorce earlier this year and my ex-wife stopped paying my bills before she served me the papers.
Americredit called for their money right after the papers were served and I set up a deferment with them (which costs money) with the first post deferment payment due on September 3, 2005. Oops, didn't expect a devastating hurricane to mess up my payment plans so I repeatedly tried to call Americredit in the days after the hurricane with no luck. I finally was able to email them which they answered with some automated reply message.
After about 6 weeks I was able to contact a customer service rep who kept trying to get me to say that the vehicle was totaled in the storm. When I explained that wasn't the case they became very belligerent. They told me that they didn't care about the hurricane-it wasn't their problem, that they wanted their money and they wanted it now.
I made a payment on 11/1/05 and the next day a rep called me, and said that they were trying to locate the vehicle in St. Bernard Parish and were unable to do so. I once again explained that the vehicle wasn't totaled. Again they were angered and said that they had it listed as totaled and they are filing an insurance claim on it. They wanted me to sign a voluntary repossession on the vehicle!
I said no way, that I am making payments on the vehicle and keeping it and that’s that.

In April of 2005 my husband and I refinanced our home and paid off our vehicle loan thru Americredit. Americredit applied our payment to my husband's ex-wife's vehicle loan by mistake.
In May, when they were finally able to verify where the check had been applied, they reapplied it to our vehicle except they applied the $29,000 as payments. They placed our check in a "hold" account so they could then draw monthly payments with interest out.
Since our intention was to pay off the vehicle, we were instructed to get another payoff request, and they would apply the amount paid correctly while removing the additional late fees and interest. HA! They waited until August, 2005 to send us a past due amount of the interest that occurred while they were clearing up their mistake.
In September we were able to obtain what we hoped would be the final balance to pay off this vehicle and obtain the pink slip, only to find out it was over $400.00. We were then told not to worry there was no time limit on it because it was just the processing fees and balance of interest. In October they tried to repossess our vehicle, all the while they would not listen to anything we had to say regarding the misappropriation of funds. All americredit wants is money! As of today we have paid them an additional $450.00 and are still hoping to have our pink slip come in the mail, but as it is November...I highly doubt this is the end of our trouble with them, But i can assure you. It will be the end of our financing thru Americredit.

Purchased a new car and it was financed throurch GMAC. We never received any paperwork from GMAC with a contract number or payment address. (I do have the paperwork from the day we purchased the car). After returning from vacation, I contacted our dealer. They gave me the 800 number for GMAC. Once I called them, I was told that I had two payments due and that they had been sending the payment information to the wrong address. I informed them that I could not make two payments in one month and asked to have the payment deffered. I was told no.
I asked if I could break the extra payment out over the next four months in addition to making the monthly regular payment. I was told no - rather rudely. The best they offered was to reverse the late charge on the June payment and remove the "derogatory remarks". I do not feel that I should be penalized because they used a wrong address. I contacted them to fix the problem and they are being unreasonable. I have no problem making a monthly payment but I cannot make two payments at one time. I am only asking them to be reasonable. They seem to not want to be understanding or helpful in any way.
