GM is horrible. Worst company ever. They never answer the phone. Never call you back. Their website is all messed up. They are rude. No help! I can't even get someone to call me back about money of mines they have. I sent them a check and they have it holding in some account. Worst car loan place ever.

Leased a Trax with them via Ghent Motor in Greeley, CO. Was told by Ghent that a loan was in place for about $450...loan was never approved. GM Financial took back the Trax for nonpayment at the dealership despite a perfect payment history and pushed through a 500+ mo loan for the vehicle I had traded it in for...so it is difficult for me to be financed. Ghent will not produce paperwork and GM Financial will not correct credit reports. I'm working with a legal firm to have GM update my reports. Avoid at all costs.

I am new to GM Financial. My first payment was due during the time GM Financial website was down as they were reconstructing it and there was no way to contact them via the website or by phone. While attempting to log in while the website was down, it stated the website would re-open on 1/5/18. My first payment was due on 1/8/18 so I planned on making the payment on the 5th. When I went to log in on the 5th to make the payment, the website was still down and customer service was still not available by phone. I had no other choice but to mail my payment via USPS overnight. So now I had to purchase a money order and pay the nearly $24 for overnight delivery.
When I called GM Financial to explain what had happened and ask to be reimbursed for the overnight delivery fee, I was put on hold for what seemed like eons just to have them tell me that's not their policy to refund delivery fees (even though they were at fault) and I should have known my payment could be 10 days late. I told the representative I had no way of knowing that, no one was available to speak to and why would I want my payments, especially my first one to be late! Horrible customer service. I will be searching for another financial institution to switch to.

Was trying to take over a friend's lease, because I was desperate for a vehicle. When they sent me the credit application, not only did they send ME the wrong forms, but they sent her the wrong ones as well. They also drag the process out just to tell me I was not approved. Besides the credit application, I was never contacted by GM Financial, and had to be updated through said friend. I find this leasing agency to be very unprofessional and I will not be doing business with them in the future.

I had an issue where I had made payment arrangement for late payments. I called in and made the final one and gave the customer service rep my confirmation number. That same day they took out another payment which made my account overdrawn. I had asked them to return the money and would not. So I had to have my bank take It back. They now won't let me use that checking account and each time I ask for assistance they are about as helpful as rock setting at the bottom of the ocean. I will never use them again even if they are the only place that is available to get a loan. They have lost my business forever.

The GM Financial Payment Process is horrible. They use a third party vendor and if you don't log in the day before your payment is due you cannot even auto pay your bill. Furthermore they charge you late fees for any missed payments. If you can use a third party lender for any car other than GM Financial - really is a bad experience.

I was paying off my loan 4 years early. After making several large payments they started not counting towards the monthly due. In 3 months I paid nearly 3 years of payments and they charged me a late fee. When I first contacted them they said they would resolved it, that was 3 months ago. I have emailed them with no response. Every time I call the hold time is greater than 15 min.

GM Financial is the worst company that I have ever done business with. After 4 months and countless phone calls, my accounts (I have 3) are still inaccurate. They owe me money and will not pay. They blame the dealership for not grounding the car in question and the dealership has provided documentation otherwise. I get a different story each and every time and it appears that there is no accountability. A different person responds each time if you're lucky enough to not get a busy signal or cut off. They blame everything on a "change over". How long does a change over take. And why are so many dealership fed up with it. GM Financial... read the reviews... we don't lie... YOU ALL DO!!! Never do business with this company.

I had a vehicle financed through GM Financial. After almost one year, I filed for Chapter 13. My payments to GM Financial remained the same because I excluded them from the bankruptcy. Although I was a few days late on some payments, I was always within the grace period, always paid the full amount, and frequently paid early. I always took care of them. My lease is about to expire - I made the last payment - and they will not approve another lease for the same amount. I have been a good customer to them and now they won't deal with me.

At the end of my lease I received a bill of $495 for something called "Disposition." This was not for repairs or car clean up. It was a fee for returning the car to a dealer. It's a fee that was in my contract, but never mentioned or discussed. That strikes me as sneaky and unethical. I did the deal at Carl Black in Orlando. They were very nice, very polite, nevertheless, my good deal turned out to be less good by $495 two years later. I'm going to tell my friends about my experience and anyone who listens. AND I don't expect to be dealing with GM Financial in the near future.

My deceased father's lease was grounded, but GMF continued to debit his bank account two months. Not only that, the amount on the statement is not the same amount being debited. After several tries over two days, I got an "agent" who, when apprised about my concerns, promised that #1, the auto debit is discontinued, #2, the debited amounts will be refunded, and #3, the billing discrepancy is correct. But the auto debit was activated again...so whenever I call to get things straightened out, I'm put on hold for 15-20 minutes OR transferred another "agent" and put on hold again...AND SOMETIMES, the call is lost OR I'm told that the call cannot be continued due to "high volume"...and I have to start all over again. As of today, January 25, 2018, the issue has not been resolved. The company is totally inept and ineffective.

This is one of the worse financial customers ever! I was off work for medical reason for a couple of months therefore I tried to call and defer my payment. I called only 10 days after it was due trying to be proactive but I was told I could NOT defer my payment and she had NO reason why except the system said I couldn't. Then she proceeds to tell me call back in 2 weeks and try again. I call back and then I'm told I have to PAY to defer my payment. That doesn't make any sense for me to have to pay more than half my payment when I'm dealing with a financial hardship. I will be borrowing from family to pay my note and refinancing my car with another company. Also I want to add I've never paid my payment late ever. They don't care about their customers at all and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

I have been on medical leave from work. GM Financial was contacted to defer payment to end of loan. GM Financial approved the deferment. 3 days later GM Financial repossessed our vehicle. 3 payments left to make on the loan. When GM Financial was contacted the story changed and they could no longer place a deferment on loan due to it being so close to end of loan. Due to the lack of professionalism we chose to remove the account from GM Financial with a 10 day payout. Loan was paid off and title was in our possession and 16 days later vehicle was then released. GM's excuse was that their computers were down. Only upon us threatening calling the police for auto theft within one hour GM contacted repossession company and vehicle was "release". We have had nothing but issue after issue with GM Financial. Save yourself the hassle and do not choose GM Financial for an auto loan.

My bank requested a copy of the electronically cashed check and my account was updated to reflect the payment - it was still two days after my due date and 8 days after the check had cleared my bank. I am, however, thankful that it was updated and that I can continue with the purchase of my next auto from Chevy. The salesperson I am working with informed me that GM Financial does not handle their outright sales loans, only leases.

Something seems suspicious with GM Financial's MyAccount, at least for me. My lease end date is just a few months away. Emails from GM Financial: 12/21/17 - MyAccount will be unavailable beginning 12/29/18 - 1/5/18. 12/27/17 - MyAccount will be unavailable beginning Friday. 1/5/18 - Account servicing updates are delayed. I use MyAccount, to make my payment a few days early (it is due on the 10th of the month), however, when I tried to do it before their outage, they wouldn't allow me to post date it past the outage date (all other previous payments allowed it). So I had to mail it in. No problem. 12/30/17, done. My payment cleared my bank on January 4. Super, right? Sure, if GM Financial had posted it on their side... but it still shows I have a payment due for 1/10/18! Not only did someone screw up posting it to my account, they processed it as an e-check payment - which I did not even authorize.
So I spent 29 minutes on hold and 15 minutes talking to someone who clearly didn't know what was what, who told me to fax (then told me to email) a copy of my cancelled check - and that they wouldn't look into it until they received proof that I made my payment. She also told me that the company is trying to eliminate some middle-man payment processor and that is part of what is changing there (Is this my problem, as the consumer? I don't think so, do you?). Some interesting notes. I wrote the check to GM FINANCIAL. The person who processed it (and obviously did not post it to my GM FINANCIAL account, sent it through as to US LEASING ORIGI rather than GM FINANCIAL as I wrote the check. I have just under an 800 credit rating that I work hard to maintain and this really ticks me off.
As I am writing this, I received another email from GM Financial: 1/9/18 Servicing Systems are back online. The gist of the email is this: "Review your next statement carefully. Late fees charged during the outage, from Dec. 30 to Jan. 8, will be removed. Please call us as soon as possible if you see an erroneous late fee. Also, check your contract. It may allow a period of time during which you are not assessed a late fee. Will this outage affect your credit history? Rest assured, we are committed to not letting this system upgrade affect your credit history in any way. Like all responsible financial institutions, we report non-payment on accounts after 30 days. Any accounts that reached 30 days past due during our outage, which began Dec. 30, 2017, will not be reported past due if payment is received prior to Friday, January 12, 2018."
My payment is due 1/10/18, but was already cashed and went back to my bank on 1/4/18. There is no mention about a scenario where the outage didn't make my payment late, but rather seemed to send it into oblivion. I know I paid it, the bank knows I paid it, and something called US LEASING ORIGI knows I paid it, but GM Financial doesn't because US LEASING ORIGI apparently did not send the message, for lack of better explanation. I am trying to set up my next car deal (through Chevy again) and they think I have an extra payment due because of this, which goes into the loan amount. This is really frustrating. Perhaps I won't close the deal after all if this is how a financial giant handles their financial situation. Unbelievable.

After having 4 cars from GMC and financing just 1 of them with GM Financial I couldn’t be more disappointed. My lease was a total loss a few months ago; our payment was up to date. We had GAP insurance which happens to also conveniently be with GM. After the car was totaled which based on the insurance wasn’t my fault everything should have been zero out and worked out between the insurance company and the GAP like in any other situations with a total loss (of course if you have a GAP insurance which we did). Well, my story is completely different and at this point disappointment is a very small word for how I feel.
First of all, we have a paper where it was stated that in case there was a total loss we could get reimburse some money from the GAP which never happened because the check was sent to the dealership and since GM is also the GAP insurance company they conveniently applied $300 and something dollars to the total amount due for the car instead of us getting that money. The dealer stated that it was something stipulated in the car contract, fine; we left it like that. One month after the accident we started receiving a bill for $460 for an “amount owed”. We called in different occasions GM financial and explained the situation and they always stated that it will be removed. This month we NOT only received a bill again but they reported it to the credit. At this point this is fraud and everything is internally being monopolized by this company working for them and against their customers.
GAP will pay whatever the insurance doesn’t cover even for a lease, if there is an “amount owed or due” should be worked between the insurance company and the GAP. The customer is NOT responsible for that amount neither the company has the right to put it on their credit report. Also, at the time of the accident when the insurance company receives a Payoff amount (is the amount owed up to that date) if there was a discrepancy of numbers it is NOT the customers' fault neither we have to pay for it but it is easier to bill the customer instead of paying that amount since they are also the GAP insurance. I really hope this gets resolved soon. I will never get another GM car neither go with GM financial again, I feel like I have been robbed. I will NOT recommend GM financial to anyone.

I paid my Yukon off in 2012, needed to get a duplicate title, here I am after 2 months and jumping through numerous hoops still without a title. Each time you call this company you get a different story and no one has a clue of what they're talking about. It should not be that hard to get a Lien Release on a 5 year old title considering they were paid off $45,000 much earlier than the original term. I would never do business with them again.

I logged in in November to check to see if my bill was due, since nothing had come out of my bank account as expected (I thought I set up auto pay when I signed my lease). The site said I owed $0, and my next due date would be December 12. I thought this was odd, since I had yet to pay anything, so I used the "Message us" option on the website.
So it was at first unclear whether anything was owed to GM, then the agent confirmed that I owed nothing. On Dec 1, I logged in to pay my bill (I prefer to pay bills as soon as I receive my monthly paycheck). There, I was greeted with a past due notice totaling $751. I contacted GM through the chat again, and received no response for several minutes. While I was waiting for someone to respond in chat, I called GM. I spoke to someone who repeatedly blamed me for the past due, telling me "Regardless of what the website says, you owe $367 every month on the 12," and that "the chat is always wrong."
This is not an acceptable response from customer service, and I am fairly sure is criminal. I was told quite clearly by the website and customer service representative that I owed $0 for November. I thought it was odd, I questioned it, but was told that I did not owe anything until December. There is no way I am going to pay the November bill now, just out of principle. The only option given to me to repay this amount was to split it in two and tack it onto December and January's bills or pay it all by the end of December. Oh and guess what - the site will conveniently be down December 29-Jan 5, so I can't even pay that giant bill on the last day of the month when I get my next paycheck. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY IF YOU CAN HELP IT. THEY ARE LIARS.

Ok, so I can blame everyone involved so let's just start with the dealership, First, they screw up the paperwork for my 2018 Colorado Lease and had to make another contract. Because this took so long I did not get a statement from GM Financial until after the payment due date so I made the payment at the dealership. After getting a statement from GM I started making bill pay payments. After first payment the next statement stated I was behind in payments. I called them and checked and they were missing that payment that I had made at the dealership so I sent a copy of the receipt to them. Looking at my statement online it looked like I was up to date, I even got a call from them earlier that they were investigating. The dealership stated they would follow up on it, but I never received a call.
So as of today, I received a call from GM Financial even though I had a receipt they had never received the funds. AND that it is still late and up to me to fix... WHAT!? So I have called the dealership again and am waiting for a call. What I did learn is that GM Financial is NOT A BANK, the funds go to ACAR Leasing LLC. I suspect that those funds went directly to ACAR and made that suggestion for GM Financial to check there. It is now into the fifth month since I got the lease. What I haven't found on this site is a real method to solve this. Looks like from all the complaints I will have to sue them. IF anyone knows a proven method please write a review for all of us to see. Thanks.
Updated on 03/29/2018: The dealership has sent us a check to pay GM Financial and get up to date. THE dealership Davidson-Gebhardt has really tried to solve this. THEY will take over with dealing with GM Financial. VERY professional answer and we are very thankful. Current UPDATE; GM Financial is the "MOST" incompetent company (besides CenturyLink) that I have ever had to deal with, not only do they stick to their stupid guns, they have changed the late date. When the dealership sent me a check for that "So-called" late payment GM still would not remove the late date.
I have tried going through Experian and Transunion to challenge the late payment. Experian TWICE ruled in favor of GM F, THEN they finally allowed me (I am so thankful- NOT) to submit evidence, not a word yet. Here's the thing; these credit reporting agencies work for the "loaners" so that the loaners can charge us more interest by lowering our credit scores. DO NOT EXPECT THEM TO HELP YOU. PERIOD. Sue them, if under a thousand dollars you can process small claims lawsuit in the county of who is handling your lease. Mine happens to be in Phoenix AZ. I will be submitting a small claims to include removing my late payment on credit reporting agencies. I have all the evidence I need and will not be going to Phoenix but hoping the judge there will do their job.

I purchased my car back in 2015. Never missed a payment or late on a payment. Hurricane Harvey hit and my car was literally floating down the road. It was totaled. The insurance company came to pick up The car. Did not evacuate it due to the fact there was thousands of vehicles that needed to be towed off. I kept in constant contact with GM Financial to let them know what was going on. Never once did they tell me that I needed to continue to pay on the car. They reported on my credit a late payment that dropped my score about 80 points. We called and asked if there was a way to get that off since I was never told we needed to pay and the lady that we spoke to was rude and told me there’s nothing that they can do even though we have never been late in a payment and obviously this is the first time I have dealt with one of my vehicles being totaled. I didn’t know what to do.
That’s just the first thing that was wrong with GM. GM kept calling saying that my insurance company hasn’t had contact with them when that was a complete lie. My insurance company was trying to get them to release the title. That way they could write them a check and GM gave them the runaround and wouldn’t release the title. I'm not the only one that had this problem. And to top it off they tried to repo the car. I haven’t had the car since hurricane Harvey hit. It’s in some field with thousands of other vehicles so good luck finding it.
My insurance company finally got the title and was able to write them a check but now getting harassed because my gap insurance hasn’t paid the remaining off. Anyone dealing with gap knows there’s a lot of paperwork you have to get done before they will pay it off. That’s hard to do when your home got flooded and two Of your vehicles got flooded and you're trying to put your life back together. I will never do business with GM Financial again.

I'm writing this review to help others who are considering using GM Financial for a loan. I would NOT use this company. I was purchasing my first vehicle and this was the only loan company that would take me. I will take the fault for not doing my research on this company before signing what feels like my life over to them. I purchased my Jeep at $21,000 and make $418 payment to GM Financial!! At the time I was engaged and my fiance at the time has a very good paying job so this payment was not high for us at the time. Things did not work out between me and my ex so we weren't are separate ways and I took the Jeep since he already had a truck. I did not make enough money on my own to afford this payment plus all of my other bills.
I explained to a GM Financial manager my situation to see if I could get my payments lowered. They did not care and said they could not help me. If I had the money I would have no problem paying them the $418 payment. Oh and side note this was not a new vehicle, it was used and a few years old. It was in good condition and only had 11,000 miles so that was a plus. The customer service I have gotten every time I have called to let them know I would be late on my payment or to see if I could get late charge taken off because let's face it a single person trying to live in this world can't afford $418 payment working a job only making $11 an hour.
GM Financial doesn't take any of this into consideration. They don't care about their customers. I want to see one of their corporate managers lose everything and see how they plan to make their payments. They would want someone to care and understand. But do you get that at GM Financial? No. You do not. So I do not recommend using them. Also customer service is horrible. I will say I had one girl who was very nice and understanding. She couldn't help me reduce my payment but she was very understanding. She is the only good thing at GM Financial.

In April of 2017 I received a toll violation from GM Financial for a vehicle that did not belong to me. I am currently leasing a 2016 Chevy Silverado and the picture they sent me was of a Chevy sedan of some sort, but definitely not a truck. The license plate was close to mine however two numbers short and again not my vehicle. Seeing the mistake I tossed the paper and carried on. When I went to pay my monthly bill in May I had noticed that it was nearly $300 more than it usually was. Concerned I contacted GM Financial to get some answers. The first person told me it was from toll violations I had and didn't pay so GM had paid them on my behalf and now I was responsible for paying them back. When I told them I never received any toll violations they told me that they had sent me the copies of the violations in the mail a month ago.
When I told them that I did receive it but it wasn't for my vehicle I was put on hold. When the person got back I gave her my truck information so they could "investigate" the situation and someone would get back to me. Days turned into weeks and finally it was time for me to make my next payment and still the violations were there. Again I called and spoke to someone different. Again I had to explain the entire situation and again I was told that they would look into it and someone would get back to me. Another few weeks went by and no one ever contacted me so I called again. This time the person told me that since GM has paid the violation it was up to me to go to the city or town in which the ticket was issued and have them issue the leasing company a refund check. I asked how I was supposed to go about doing so which they just told me to go to the town and tell them what I've been telling them.
So now that I have to travel to a town I've never been to and have them issue a refund check going solely by my word alone, I'm extremely angry and write a formal complaint to GM. I received an email a few days later stating how sorry they were to hear about the situation I'm in and they would look into everything and would have the issue resolved with me having to do little if not anything from this point on. I had also asked to be sent copies of the violations so I could keep record of them. I never received them and the last email I had received from GM was from July 19th. Today I called again to figure out what is going on since it has been nearly two months since anyone has said anything to me and the violations were still on my account. Now mind you the only copy of the violation I received was back in April from GM Financial and had the picture of the car and the license plate from the toll.
They are now telling me they have no picture of the toll violation and I only have the vehicle information. I then stated that if they had vehicle information then wouldn't they have known it wasn't for my truck in which they responded that it shows it's from for Silverado and that I needed to contact RITBA for them to validate that it is not my vehicle and for them to issue a refund check. So I call and tell the woman on the phone what GM Financial has been telling me in which she laughed and said they don't issue refund checks but would gladly look into the violation. She then stated that because GM Financial has paid the violation that the ticket has been closed and because I do not even own an E-ZPass there is nothing they can do and I need to deal with my leasing company directly.
This company has been nothing but a headache for me and has done nothing but stews me out for the last 5 months. Why should I be responsible for fixing their mistake when I have been telling them for months that it isn't even for my vehicle. They never call back when they say they're going to nor do they have the common courtesy to email you back to give you any sort of feedback on what they're doing on their end. They have guaranteed that I will NEVER lease another vehicle through them again because they are just awful.

In 2015 we leased a 2015 Equinox for 24 months with a one payment option. It was to be turned in on August 25, 2017 but we pulled ahead on July 10, 2017 and that left over one month payment we should have been refunded. Because our account had a zero balance we are not entitled to receive a refund for the last month even though by the end of July I was told they had already sold the car which had only 11,000 miles on it. Someone else owned the car but I was still not eligible for the last month refund of $333.70. When we leased a car through ALLY they were very generous with refunding at the end because it was in such great shape and low mileage. I hope it was worth it to lose at least a 30 year customer of GM cars.

I have noticed all of the bad reviews for "GM Financial" and I truly don't understand it, because they were absolutely life savers to me when I really needed the help! I lost my job after only owning my brand new car for 1 year and was out of work for 9 months. With this said with paying rent & car insurance & utilities after the first 2 months of unemployment I couldn't afford to pay my $556.28 car note, I was so worried I cried about how I was probably going to lose my car, how would I be able to keep looking for work!!! I called GM Financial right after making my 2nd payment while unemployed and explained my situation of being unemployed and if there was anything they can do to help me.
From speaking with the first person I was lucky to speak with to the Manager who helped me. It was absolutely a great experience! They were so kind and understanding! I had to make sure that I would keep my promise of payment dates & payment amounts and my car would not be repoed, what a relief and what a great company!
I had a small personal loan with a company called "Heights Finance" a small $105.00 a month personal loan and all I got was threats of them taking me to court when I called to make arrangements with them and here I am with a $30,000.00 loan with GM Financial and they were giving me a chance and they listened and cared enough to work with me, so yes GM Financial is a great company in my opinion!!! I would go back to them any day and would recommend family and friends! I got to keep my car because of them!

We had leased a 2014 ATS from GM Financial. Due to the potholes, the tires busted. We replaced 2 tires for 2000$. We then bought a rim car protection from our dealer and we had issues with 2 other tires which were replaced. We turned the car before the lease ended in May 2017 and GM Financial calls us on 30th September 2017 asking us to pay for $675 for tires. After almost 5 months they called us saying one of the tires has a cut. We need to pay them $675. It took them 5 months to come back to us and all the tires were replaced by new tires from an authorized GM dealer so we are not sure what is this charges or who is responsible for this 5 month delay?

I recently opted to purchase my lease vehicle. As requested, GM sent the lease buyout packet to my bank. The bank in turn sent the requested funds to GM. When I finally received the certified, notarized bill of sale. The bill of sale showed that I owed about $878.00 less they asked from my bank. GM demanded that I immediately go to DMV to transfer the title into my name. When I questioned the totals, they sent me a second certified bill of sale showing the same lower amount. I went to DMV to transfer the title and found the taxes had not been paid by GM.
Over the past month or so I have spoken to numerous individuals without even a hint of success. They insist the total they request from my bank was accurate but cannot account for the difference. They offered two different reasons but neither was accurate. I have encountered numerous unreturned calls and emails and I must say I have never experienced so much incompetence and poor customer service as this. I will no longer use GM, and will suggest my car dealer do the same.

I have a car loan through them and for the last 2 years they have been nothing but understanding. I got laid off from my job last year, and hit some rough times and was completely not able to pay my car payment. They worked with me and were so sympathetic.
When I finally got on my feet, something major went wrong with my car that wasn't covered under warranty and had to pay over $1,000 for it, the same day I was suppose to make that payment to them. Instead of them being angry and threatening to repo, etc. they completely worked with me! Were very apologetic for the year I had and took the time to talk with me about what we can do to resolve this. I have dealt with plenty financial companies that have left me horrible rude threatening voice mails, etc. but these people are great to deal with!!! 100% recommend them!

Had my car financed thru GM Financial/AmeriCredit Financial Services. Paid loan off EARLY in Mar 2015. After 2-3 mos never received clear title. Called; they claim mailed mid-Apr 2015 & could not reproduce title, but would mail "release of lien letter". Another couple of months pass & never received such letter. Called again & they claim mailed. Referred me to website ** to request copies. They could not, & WOULD NOT resend. ** charges $23 for "lien satisfaction letter" copy & $35 for "duplicate title PLUS any DMV fees". This is a con & a scam like the other ways GM Financial/Americredit uses to make money off of consumers (read all other complaints here against them).
I became life-threateningly ill in Aug 2015 & have been dealing with health & medical insurance the past 2 years, so this issue was put on "back-burner". Then while getting car registration renewed today asked how to get car title. County tax office said Americredit has NOT released lien; still shows as lien holder on title. Called GM Financial/Americredit when got home & was told same thing as two years ago!?! When told them State of Texas still shows them as lien holder their response was that GM/Americredit releases it electronically & the State does not update THEIR records properly (I worked for the State of Texas for 11 years... I know better).
Only after I threatened to call a specific local TV station Consumer Affairs assistance program did I get a different response. Young lady on phone asked to put me on hold for a few minutes to talk to supervisor. When she returned to line she said request to resend "lien satisfaction letter" will be put in system, Then someone will call me within 48 business hours to inform IF approved. IF approved, letter will be mailed in 7-10 business days. I will still have to request clear title from State & pay any applicable DMV fees myself. That's fine... it's only $7.50. I just refuse to pay GM/Americredit $23-$35 to send a copy of something that's rightfully mine that THEY NEVER mailed in the first place. ** & GM Financial/Amercredit are running a scam on consumers. DO NOT FINANCE YOUR VEHICLE WITH GM FINANCIAL/AMERICREDIT... THEY WILL HOLD YOUR TITLE "HOSTAGE" FOR THE FEE.

From the begin of the purchase of the car loan for the $120.00, there was something wrong with the information on the account. I find out by viewing my credit report the GM Financial put a bad mark on my credit which cause my credit to go down 100 points.
I reached out to GM financial and they said the reason they put a bad report was because I was 30 days late on the $120.00 a month loan. I told them I never spoke to them about late charges. Why would I be late on a $120.00 loan when I have a loan with them of $1,100.00. and I have never been late for the loan? Anyway, to make a long story short, they had my office number for contact and not my primary number. Incompetent and absolutely no culpability when mistakes are made. Let me first say I am not disputing the denial of the claim. I am seeking assistance in resolving the problem related to the return of the premium paid for the credit life. Here is a little background on the situation. In February of 2015, my husband purchased a new vehicle. He purchased credit life on the loan. Fast forward to February 1, 2017. He was diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer on January 28th, entered hospice on January 30th, and died on the afternoon of February 1st. He died without completing a will naming me as his wife as immediate heir. His death was unexpected and very quick. According to the terms of the credit life policy, there is a two-year mandatory review clause. He died eleven days short of the end of the mandatory review period. They denied the claim and refunded the initial premium.
The check for the premium was send directly to GM Financial, according to the letter I received from American National on May 15th. June 19th, I phoned GM Financial to confirm the funds were received. I was told by them the check had not been received. I then contacted American National who issued a tracer on the check. I received a letter from American National the following week indicating the check was received and cashed on May 24th.
Here it is July 6th, and this issue is still not resolved. After spending 4 hours on the phone with both GM Financial and American National, this what I know. GM Financial received a notice dated June 29th, from American National requesting the funds be returned to them. I believe the term used by GM Financial was reversing the payment. According the claims specialist from American National, they did not request the funds be reversed. I am still waiting for American National to return my latest phone call. American National would gladly speak with GM Financial, and I attempted to facilitate that exchange. However, GM Financial has a policy not speak to 3rd parties.
I participated in a conference call with both American National and GM Financial on June 29th. At that time, the matter according to GM Financial was resolved. Today I receive a phone call from GM Financial once again telling me that American National has now verbally requested the return of the check. That is false. I have spoken to the claims specialist GM Financial has indicted as the source of the request. Now I am waiting for yet another conference call to attempt a resolution of this matter. According to the conference call of June 29th, GM Financial had agreed to credit the account effective May 25th and reverse the interest charges associated with that amount. At that time, the matter was considered closed.
In the meantime, I am accruing additional interest on the account, as well as being assessed late fees and such by GM Financial, as all the payments I have made are reconfigured. Since my husband died suddenly without a will, and the loan is only in his name, I do not have access to the GM Financial account. This is my only vehicle, and I do plan on taking the issue through the probate court to have the loan transferred to my name and eventually have the title issued in my name. Now, I don't have the funds to hire an attorney or pay the court costs. I am trying to save the money to file. With all the additional fees and interest on the account, what money I had set aside for this has gone to GM Financial.
What do I want as resolution? I want the funds from American National applied to the account and credited by effective on May 25th as that was date the first check was cashed by GM Financial in a timely manner. I would also hope that GM Financial to reverse additional interest accumulated on the loan due to this issue. As an added benefit, I would hope anyone who hears about this, would understand the importance of wills and keeping proper records to back up your issues.

I was leasing a 2014 Cadillac ATS through GM Financial, and in March I got out of the lease to get into a 2017, also through GM financial. In April I was charged another month's lease payment on the 2014 and when I called to inquire I was told that it was because they received payment to cancel the lease too late to put a stop to my automatic payments and that I would be reimbursed by cheque. Several calls and several months later I still haven't received anything although each time I called I was told that the cheque was being sent out that week. Today I called again to see the status and all of a sudden I'm told that there was wear and tear on the vehicle and they were keeping my overpayment to offset the costs. They didn't pick up the vehicle from the car dealership to inspect for at least 3 months after it was dropped off, so anything could have happened in that time that I should not be on the hook for.
Also worth mentioning the car was 25,000 kms under the allotted amount with 4 months remaining on the lease, and was in pristine condition inside and out. I am currently in the process of taking legal action against GM Financial and will most certainly never use them to lease another vehicle as long as I live. Suggest everyone else does the same.

December of 2016, I leased a 2017 GMC Terrain and turned in a 2015 GMC Terrain to a GM dealership on the same day. I retained the odometer statement and other lease disposition paperwork indicating that the 2015 Terrain was turned into a GM dealership in good order (within the contract mileage and free of damage). Over the next several months, I routinely received phone calls from GM Financial inquiring as to the whereabouts of the 2015 Terrain. I repeatedly sent GM Financial scanned copies of the odometer statement, along with the old and new registration which prove that the 2015 Terrain was turned in in December of 2016.
In June of 2017, I received a bill from GM Financial for almost $500 in excess wear and tear, excess mileage, and tax for the 2015 GMC Terrain. I again called GM Financial and told them that the vehicle was turned into a GM dealership over 6 months prior. GM Financial rudely informed me that I turned the vehicle in June of 2017. I again had to prove that the 2015 Terrain was turned into a GM dealership in December of 2016.
GM Financial clearly lost track of the vehicle for over 6 months, and is now trying to recover $500 in taxes, damage to the vehicle, and excess mileage that the vehicle incurred from December 2016 to June of 2017. It is my position that the vehicle was turned into a GM dealership in good condition and within the contract mileage. It has not been in my care, custody, or control for 6 months, and GM financial was. I am not responsible for damage or mileage incurred since the vehicle was turned in, nor am I responsible for the 6 months of property tax. GM Financial is typically unresponsive to emails or phone calls. I would never treat a customer like this.

December 20 2014 I bought a 2009 Traverse from a Chevy Dealer under the certified used vehicle. The dealer apparently went right too GM Financial (we thought they shopped around when they didn't). Got the loan paid on time, never late. Kept up maintenance, oil changes, etc. Oct 2016 driving 70 MPH on a highway with my three kids in the car. Traffic slowed down, I touched the breaks. Traffic assumes I touch the gas engine dies. Threw it into neutral, trying starting it while still rolling. Nothing. Manage to get off to the left because too much traffic on the right. Try getting it to start and got nothing. Had to get it towed (funny thing was the state trooper that pulled up to help had his ex wife's Traverse in his drive way because it did the same thing to her. She had to use his car to take kids around).
Dealership we got it from went out of business and no other Chevy dealership would honor the sale to fix the problem. The one we spoke to wanted $400 just to plug it in the diagnostic computer. That did not include a Guarantee to fix any issues. It was just to tell us what was wrong. Still paid for the five months of trying to get it fixed. Come to find out 2009-2011 GM vehicles with a certain V6 engine in it ALL had issues because the engine is no good. GM knows this and admitted to it on the phone. However they refused to have it fixed. I said this should be a recall or you should be responsible for fixing it. Yeah, we know but we are not. BBB, and every other complaint company has thousands of complaints, I believe this was Toyota's issues as well. Still nothing is being done.
Needs a new engine AND computer system. It only has approximately 130,000 miles on it. What engine goes up on it's own at 130,000? At least $3000 & 4000. Cars maybe worth 4000-6000. Can't afford to pay so tell them to repo and that I'm done paying for it unless they are willing to fix their issue with their vehicle. Told to skip two payments and then they could repo due to MD law. Did everything Financial person told me to do. She told me I was done. I asked "I am now done with everything". She said yes. Beginning of June I get a letter saying they are going to auction off car and that I will be responsible for the balance. I called Chevy Dept they say It's the Financial dept's problem. Call them they said They know the vehicles problem is a manufacturer's issue and that Chevy is responsible but I still have to pay.
Vehicle is a lemon and they admit it is a lemon but I entered a contact with them and still have to pay. I said "No you admitted issue is yours". "Well we are separate from GM". "No you are just a separate department". "Yeah but we aren't responsible for manufacturing issues". "Yeah I get you didn't make it however your company did and that makes you part of the responsibility". She says I would have to prove it was a Chevy issue. I said the complaint department said it's their problem and that I have to talk to the financial department. "We aren't a part of the..." "YES I know but your complaint Department can't send a memo to you saying it's GM's problem and tell you to cancel or forgive the loan?" "No, we don't do that. You signed a contract with us, so you have to pay". "Not paying GM for a lemon". She kept saying they weren't GM.
Supervisor then threatens to get the IRS to take the money. IRS does not come after private loans. I get the whole 1099c thing where they write the loan off which somehow the IRS sees this as an added income to me. However so long as I claim it on next year's income tax isn't going to mean a thing. So I said "Yeah I know send it to collections then go to court". This is really weird part because apparently they don't go to court. I said twice I will fight them in court. They don't take you to court!!! I was told if I wanted to go to court over the issue I WOULD HAVE TO BE THE ONE THAT FILES?!? She said I would have to fight it as a lemon. I said I would just wait for them to file as failure to pay in claims court. They don't do this! Because they would lose.
It's a HUGE scam these people are pulling and nobody is doing anything about it. That's why they do the IRS thing. They don't let you know they filed it. They get the write off as a business loss and get the money from the government and I would get fined by the IRS for not claiming the write off as an income. That's how they are getting away with it. They send me back to complaint side of Chevy. The woman on the phone admits it's their problem and that THEY are a part of GM. Doesn't understand why they aren't cancelling loan. Send me back to another section of Financial. She questioned me and even admitted herself it's Chevy's fault and can't figure out why they are still having me pay. She goes all over the place and come back to start sounding like the one before her about the auction. DO NOT DO ANY BUSINESS WITH GM BY ANY MEANS! GMC, Chevy, or Buick. No wonder they needed a bail out in 2008.

I have been out of work for 3 years, I have been paying GM until 2016 November, my long term disability ended. I called GM and stated I would have to pay my monthly payments every two weeks from my husband salary and then it would be a stretch. I have had the car for 5 years, it takes me back and forward to Baptist Hospital for one thing and Duke for something else. Getting to the point my husband set up a payment arrangement with a representative two weeks ago. He was to make one payment on the 5/15/2017 $250.00 Western Union ref #** next payment on 5/19/2017 $252 ref #**, another payment of $250 due on 26th of May and full payment of $502 June 12th. That would have put him in a position to stay on track. With me being diagnose with Lupus, I am in and out of the hospital and my medicines are not cheap.
My husband committed himself to everything the representative asked. When I called last night the rep called and said she did not see why they repo the car when my husband abide by their directions. I have worked so hard to keep my car. I need help. The repos was their error. I can see if the representative said paying $250 would not do anything for keeping the car and it would be repo, but to make him make payments on something they knew they would keep. My medicine is $300 a month, I am in and out of the hospital. While I were getting my short and long term payments I paid my car pymts. The last person I talked to said I was 4 pymts behind. With the payments he made and the $250 payment due on Friday then two weeks a full payment that's only one payment if any behind.

I now have my new financier and GM FINANCIAL payment withdrawn from my account. When they said they wouldn't. This happened on the 28th. Rent is due on the first. I now have only over $200 in my account and they have to "research" the fact that they took it out of my account. The first person I talked to said that it was never taken out because I don't owe them any money. And suggested I call my own bank and ask them to give me back the money which GM FINANCIAL wrongfully withdrew from my account. That idiot should be fired. I hung up got a different person. She saw where they charged me.
They said they would expedite it for me. But it still takes 5-7 business days and the payment was take out on a Saturday. That's just to even get a response of whether or not they are going to refund it. My grace period for rent will be over by then. And I wouldn't get another paycheck for another week. So I can't even pay a late fee which I will need because they have over $400 tied up I can't touch and they won't refund it in time to pay rent. I don't have anyone to help me. I'm on my own. I'm risking late fees and evictions. And for the last two days all they know is "research is pending." But can't even tell me where we are in the process of this refund. I have never missed a payment and I have above average income but yet I was denied credit. This is very puzzling to me especially since my credit score through TransUnion is 620.

We purchased a vehicle on April 1, 2015 which was financed with GM Financial. We were using a middleman company to pull our funds from our account and sending it to GM once a month. At the end of March 2017 we traded that vehicle in, so therefore the dealership sent the funds to GM to pay off our loan. We forgot to contact the middleman to hold the monthly payment back and return it to us until it was too late. Shouldn't be a problem getting that extra payment back right? WRONG!!!
First they wanted a running bank statement, which I provided immediately, then because it didn't show that they were the ones pulling the funds... that wasn't good enough... even though I had already explained how our payments were being made. I contacted the middleman company and they provided me with proof of the payment, which I forwarded to GM Financial. We went from our payment would be refunded within 24 to 48 hours to 30 days to it's in the mail to the check hasn't been cut due to needed approval to it can take 15 days.
Mind you it is now April 18 and I finally have been told that the approval has been made and we will receive our check by the end of the week. I'm not going to hold my breath, but I will probably faint if it really comes true. The most frustrating part of it all is that every time I call, I get someone new and different branch locations, so nobody knows the people we have already spoken to and they have to read the whole book of notes which makes the phone calls long and even more frustrating. We were promised a call from them regarding our payment, but that never happened. I had to call them yet again. I will NEVER EVER use this company again and I would NEVER recommend them.

I had a vehicle financed through this joke of a company. Paid on the vehicle for 4 years on a 5 year loan when I was in a bad accident. I was in the hospital for two months and out of work for over a year. I was in constant contact with them and agreed to a voluntary repo. Well after the vehicle was repossessed it only took them a couple months before they started to pursue me for the remaining balance which they now claimed was $20,000. Now remind you that I was still out of work and unable to walk at this time. I purchased the car for $29,000 4 years earlier and paid $523 a month. Had 1 year remaining on the loan. Every time I called to discuss this with them they were rude and treated me as if I was some type of bum for not paying my payments. They were great at dancing around the issue with insults but no one could ever give me a straight answer.
At the time I was more concerned about getting my life back on track than I was arguing with these idiots. Well this was in 2010, in 2015 I receive a 1099-C from the IRS that I now owe taxes on the remaining balance of $13,680, so they obviously sold the vehicle and deducted the $6000 or so they sold the vehicle for and claim that I still owed the $13,680. When I called to find out more information the lady I spoke with was again rude. She wanted my current address and phone number because she said I still had a balance that needed to be paid. Knowing the law, I questioned her how if the balance was now discharged could I have a balance. Her reply was that I must not know what I am talking about, just because it was discharged does not mean that I don't still owe the money.
This is illegal by the way when a debt is discharged, the creditor can no longer pursue for the debt. She could not give me any direct answers as to how I could possibly owe this amount after paying on the vehicle for 4 years. Unfortunately, there is not much I can do at this point except go on pages like this and warn other people to be very cautious when choosing this company for a car loan. They are snakes in the grass and the government should investigate them instead of allowing them to terrorize from what it looks like a great deal of unhappy customers. GM should be ashamed of themselves for allowing things like this to happen to their customers. I wonder if the IRS went after GM for defaulting on their loans!!!

GM Financial has provided terrible service when it comes to stopping auto withdrawals (Auto Loan Payment). I turned our Chevrolet Trax in at the dealership on March 7, 2017. Waited to receive payoff info and called GM Financial on March 21, 2017 to stop auto withdrawal from my checking account. I was told I would receive a callback within 48 hrs confirming that the payments were cancelled. I never received a callback so I called again on March 24th, 2017. I spoke with another representative and she assured me that the payment was cancelled. Checked my checking account on March 28, 2017 to see if the payment was being taken out and it showed they still were taking it out. So, I called again.
This time they see that the payment was taken out but want me to send my checking account statement to prove that the money came out of my account so they can refund me my money. Their other suggestion is for me to call my credit union and say there was a fraudulent withdrawal from my account so I could get my money back. How does a Financial company screw something up so bad? They don’t seem to care. GM Financial needs to get their house in order. THEY SUCK.

GM Financial is a HORRIBLE company. I'm leasing my 2017 GM Sierra Denali since December 27, 2016. My first payment was due on January of 2017. I had set up my Online Account with GM Financial so I can have access to my payments and they had an option to set up automatic payment with them. So I submitted my account information so that they would auto draft my payments every month but it never gave me a confirmation to see if it did set up. The next day I called and spoke to an agent to verify that I was set up for the automatic withdrawal and she said she couldn't see anything confirming my payments were set up for automatic payments but that I had another option to make a one time payments through Western Union which I would have complete control of.
To make my payments, me being new to their website I asked the Agent if she was able to walk me through it to make my one time payment through Western Union Speedpay for the month of January since she couldn't confirm it was set up for the Automatic withdraw and she told me step by step and my payment successfully went through. On the month of February my payment was due on the 28th and I guess the Automatic withdraw that I had set up through GM Financial from the beginning took effect and my payment successfully went through. The next day on March 1, 2017 they took another payment which I was completely confused why they double collected on my account.
So I called and I asked them why they had taken two payment from my account, which they had caused my bank account to overdraft and they caused other payment I had from other bills I had scheduled for the same day to not go through causing me A LOT OF DAMAGE putting me in a really bad situation! And they told me that I was set up for two Automatic withdrawals one from GM Financial and the other is called (Recurring) through Western Union. I asked the agent why was I set up for two Automatic withdrawals and she said that when I had called the month of January the Agent walked me through the steps to set up the recurring payments through Western Union when I specifically repeated myself to her that I only wanted to make a one time payment for that month since she wasn't able to confirm with me that my payments had been set up for Automatic payments through GM.
I asked to speak to a Manager/Supervisor and they transferred me to her. I spoke with her about my situation and told me that they had to get all of this situated and that they had to take full responsibility for the mistake that they made because the first Agent mislead me to set up Automatic payments with Western Union when I told her I only wanted to make a one time payment. And she told me that it was my fault for the whole situation because I was the one that set up both Automatic payments. I argued with her for a good 5 min asking for a reimbursement. She told me that the reimbursement would take up from 30-45 days and that they were not going to take responsibility of the fees that my bank added which I was completely fine with because my bank was willing to waive those fees for me.
So in order to reimburse me my money that they double collected which I had not authorized we needed to speak with my bank and talk to a representative which we did. And my bank confirmed that they did collect twice on my account and that there was nothing pending. So GM's Agent asked for my bank to fax them a statement showing both payments going through and my bank provided that information and the Supervisor stated they were going to reimburse me. I called on March 6, 2017 to confirm if they were going to reimburse me and the Agent notified me that they had declined the reimbursement and that they needed more information when my bank had already confirmed that they double collected and they caused my account to overdraft because they had taken all my money on that account...
They have given me an EXTREMELY hard time. They have all been extremely rude. They are not cooperating with me or my bank to give me my reimbursement and it's deceptive behavior from GM Financial Agents! I don't understand why this company is in business if they are not taking care of their Customers. I would NEVER recommend anyone to have a contract or make business with GM Financial!

I called Americredit to see where the title is and they proceed to inform me that I still have a balance of 3000.00. Are you fricking kidding me??? I have already paid you 23,000 for a car that's not worth 2000 at this point. Is this even legal?
Why did Wells Fargo not do this as I was paying 10% outside and 4.25 in the bankruptcy. Does GM forget that the American taxpayers bailed them out and all they do is try to take advantage of people. I got financed on a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe last summer through GM because my credit wasn't all that great. For the most part, they have been OK. I noticed that there are several late payments on my credit showing that should never have been reported late. For example, it's December 19th and although my October car payment was paid in September, it is showing me as 60-90 days late. Last credit update was 12/13 so that is impossible due to the fact that I'm not even at the 60 day mark yet due to my payment date. I've already disputed the numerous false reports to my credit and am awaiting the outcome.
My husband and I have been working diligently to clean up our credit and reduce balances on all of our accounts. In November, I called GM and notified them that I would be sending a $7,000 payment and wanted my Nov. and Dec. payment taken from that and the rest applied to principal. Because of the large amount of the check, I sent it with tracking to the Phoenix, AZ address given to me by the representative and had my account noted. For some reason, it took a week to get to AZ from PA. Upon arriving in AZ GM refused to accept the FedEx envelope and FedEx returned it back to me. Took another week. I received the physical check back in hand on Dec. 8 to which I called and spoke to three different reps including a manager. I was told to process payment electronically on the website and I did so. I immediately received a payment receipt and a few days later on 12/13 my Equifax updated to reflect the lesser balance.
Last Monday 12/12, I received a call from GM stating that I was now overdue on November's payment and that December's was now due. They were calling to collect both months. I told the rep on the phone to review the account and went through the whole story with her. She said she could see the notes on the account and didn't understand why the robo-dialer had called me when clearly I had made the payments. This past weekend on 12/18 my Experian updated and sent me an alert that GM Financial had flagged my account as 30 days past due. What? How is this even possible?
This morning, robo-dialer from GM calls me again. I told the rep get me a manager immediately. She proceeds to tell me that my payment on the 8th was never processed as the account came back as "null". What? I checked and double checked when I entered the information. After the return of the envelope, I wanted to ensure this went through. The receipt also shows that the last four of the account #'s matched the account I paid it with. After confirming that the money was not retrieved from my account, I called GM again. I spoke to another manager and again went through the whole story. She echoed that the payment had not gone through for a null account. I asked her to read the history of my account, that I had been trying to pay them $7000 for a month now.
I told her I was unsure how this account which is a valid account with plenty in it to cover was showing null and asked to make payment right then and there over the phone to ensure accuracy and thorough transmittal. I asked that the late fee they charged me be waived because it was no fault of my own that they returned the payment. I also asked that the hit on my credit be removed because it was inaccurate. She agreed to removed the late fee, but told me she would not remove the fee to pay by phone. She also told me that she would not/could not update my credit as it's "my fault" I didn't make the payment. At this point I was livid. I unloaded on this woman like I've never unloaded on anyone in my life. I have been trying to pay them 7 thousand dollars for a month and they've made this nothing short of a nightmare and now have damaged my credit by reporting false information.
Naturally, this is in dispute and I have all the proof to back it up. I should note, that my husband also has an account with GM and he paid them $10000 only to have it returned! That is $17,000 in the course of the month that we have been trying to pay collectively! His just came back Friday and he submitted it electronically as well. On May 12, 2016 GM repossessed the vehicle. The Tow Company driver used trickery to obtain the car and snatched the keys out of the car, while the other driver got into the driver's seat. As I was on the phone with customer service at GM, trying to rectify the situation, the tow truck driver pretended like he was waiting for the outcome of my conversation with customer service at GM, then suddenly without warning drove off, while the other tow truck driver, (whom is uninsured driver of my vehicle) drove away in my car. Not once did the tow truck allow me to ascertain my belongings left in the car. The only thing in the car was paperwork that was very personal, confidential, and important, i.e. Death Certificate, banking information, and other personal paperwork. They are charging me $15.00 per day from the storage on my papers.
The Tow Company said that it would have been no charge if I picked up my car there. However, because it was sent off to the auction then I would need to pay $430.00 to get my paperwork back. The many times I called GM Financial I was told to speak to someone in the Reinstatement Department and which you can only leave a voice mail message. After failed attempts to get information about my car, so I tried to access the account online, which I was blocked. I then called Customer Service again to request detailed payment and transaction on the account and the Customer Services Dept Supervisor that I spoke to told me that since I am not the account holder for the car loan, I can't get any information and I need to be my husband's Estate Administrator in order to get account details regarding loan payments made.
I explained to them that he did not have an estate and I asked to be directed to the Legal Department and they told me they did not have that information. When I finally spoke to someone in the Reinstatement Department, the representative engaged in a conversation about personal matters. I felt it was unethical and unwarranted. All reputable companies must follow some sort of code of conduct by employees and use standard business practices, which you are not to discuss with the customers personal matters. Especially, if it is not relevant to the business being conducted. I was outraged, embarrassed and humiliated by GM Financial Customer Service Department employees. GM Financial said the only way I could get the car back was to pay the entire balance owed.
I stated over the phone to your employee that I want the car back and didn't want to lose all the money my husband had put into it and had already paid GM Financial about $31,000.00. I had no choice but to use my saving in order to get the car back. Here are the following required from me in order to get back the car: Pay off entire balance in the form of either a cashier check or money order; Payment then needed to be to be cleared and updated on account; Release letter sent to Tow Company and/or Auction Company; Policies required by Tow Company and/or Auction Company, i.e. notarized form and over a 100 miles away from my home; Release from Police Department, fee involved; Property returned to me that was left in vehicle, Tow Company charge over $450 for just my documents.
I never heard of anyone being able to get a money order in amounts over $500.00 and a cashier check from the bank is as good as cash, so the process of clearing payment makes no sense and is just a way of making further delays and fees accrued. After the several days it took to just pay off the car, I needed to know when I would receive the title and the name that the title will be in, and where it will be mailed. I was told by GM employee that, they would put my husband's name on the title and it would be mailed to the address on file for the account. Clearly, this is a problem. My husband is dead, and therefore does live at the address you have on file.
After all calls and messages that I made about the paying off the car, the procedures required by me by GM Company in order for me to get the car back, the car was still transferred to sell at the auction. I did not allow any lapse of time for GM Company to believe that I would not be paying off the car, and therefore, it was unnecessary for the car to go to the auction! I feel that your GM Financial did not follow the Business Code and Practice laws, conducted unethical business practices to me. In addition, I believe that GM Financial performed predatory lending to my late husband.
Nevertheless, I am requesting the following: A detailed and itemized statement of all fees, charges, interest and balances owed; A receipt of payment that I made for $12,021.33; The Title of Vehicle mailed to my address and transferred into my name, which by California Law you are required to do, when provided the proper documentation; I want any fees, incorrect interest charged, or towing fee charge all that have occurred due to your unreasonable policies and procedures to be waived and refunded; Any over payment that I have made returned to me in a form of cashier check; The release of my paperwork from your tow company returned to me without charge.
It is now 9/15/2016 I still have not received a response to my letter requesting the above items, or have I receive the title. I have been told that the title was mailed to me twice and now I have to go to website portal that you can request the title for your car for a fee. Just greed, and something needs to be done for this company to stop conducting business in this unscrupulous manner.

If you want to pay more on your principal loan, you have to call them and tell them you're putting it on your "principal loan" and not the interest. That's why after so many years of paying you still have so much left still on the balance. Do your research before you go on here complaining about a company to begin with. Do good on your payment and refinance with a different bank at a lower interest later down the line.

I bought a car in 2004. The car was registered as a 1999 Chevy in Oregon and I remember that the dealership I purchased the car from that they would register it. I called the Oregon DMV and they confirmed this info. I had them send me proof of this registration. About 6 months after owning the car I ran into a situation where I couldn't afford the car anymore. I called the dealership and returned the car. The person at the dealership told me that since I made every payment up until then I wouldn't be responsible for anything after that, which makes sense. I returned the car to the dealership.
In 2014, I got a notice from the IRS stating that I filed my taxes wrong and that I owed $1,396. After a lot of research I found out that Americredit reported to the IRS that they gave me a "gift" and reduced the amount I owe. I was really confused by all this so I called them and found out that they still have on record that I've owned this car since 2004. Another weird thing was that their records indicate that I owned a 2004 Chevy Malibu. I have NEVER bought a brand new car. I then asked them what address that they have on file. They told me that they have an address that I lived at over 10 years ago.
I asked them why they were the worse collection agency in history. If I owe someone money they have the magical ability to find me no matter where I live, get my current phone number (even though I never give it out and it's not on public records). I confronted the agent about the difference and she couldn't explain why the information was correct. I had them send me the contract, and yes I do agree that my signature is on it, but the information on the contract is wrong. I gave them my updated contact information and I still have yet to get a phone call, billing statement, or anything from them regarding my delinquency.
I also asked them why I would still owe this because I returned the car to the dealership after only 6 mo. They said that they were never told about that, and according to their records I still owned the car. I also checked my credit report. Nothing. There are no loans, car loans, or any company called Americredit or GM Financial. They are basically ruining my life and I have to refile my 2013 taxes and I cannot file my 2015 taxes because of this. If I file my 2015 taxes the IRS is going to take away my refund because according to them I owe money for 2013 taxes. Plus I never got a tax form from them stating that they were giving me this credit.
I'm stuck and now I need to also file bankruptcy and put them on there even though there is no record of me owing this money. These people are crooks in the worst way. All the research that I've done has led me to find out that they do this kind of thing all the time to people. These people may or may not actually have loans with them but it causes a lot of people to owe money to the IRS because they decided to give this "gift". Also Americredit didn't send this info to the IRS until June of 2014. How on God's green Earth am I supposed to know that I got this "gift" if my taxes are due by April 15. My words of advice, if you get documentation from Americredit that they bought your loan, REFINANCE immediately. This company needs to go out of business. Their business practices are not legal.

We I dealt with this company, they were called Americredit. I had one payment left on my car. I had made all payments on time. The mail got the payment to them only a couple of days late. Next thing I know, they are repossessing my car. Luckily a neighbor told me what was going on. I ran to my car but the repo guy wouldn't even let me get out my Grandson's car seat out of the car as this was the only transportation for me, my daughter and grandson. They also tried to cash the payment I sent, but since the payment was still processing, I put a stop payment on the check. They are evil people. Well a week later they repossessed my car. I call and they said "you were short 44.00." So they took my car my only means of transportation. Now they want me to come up with 1,341.00 to get my car back. This company is freaking crazy. Oh and they want cash. Don't you think if I had the cash I would have made my payment. My first car lease experience was with GM Financial as I leased a 2013 Chevy Traverse. We got a payoff amount over a year ago so we could qualify for a home loan. The payoff amount was sent. I had automatic withdrawal payments monthly prior to the payoff amount and was never late. Now my lease comes to an end and I get a bill for the last months payment. First they stated it looks like the "dealership made a mistake." They would contact the dealership and get back to me "on Monday."
After no return follow up over a week later as promised and long times on hold.. they tell me I owe the payment because from 'what they could tell' I missed a payment back in February 2015. I got the payoff amount in January and sent just that... No less. No one ever apologized or cared if I was satisfied with GM. I definitely would not recommend them. Not to mention I was quoted a car purchase price of approximately $16,000 at the time I paid off the remaining lease payments and now the purchase price changed to $19,600.

BUYER BEWARE! GM Financial gets a 1 only because 0 isn't an option. I recently leased my first car at a GM dealership through GM Financial. After getting the monthly payments down to where I wanted them to be I agreed to sign. What no one bothered to tell me is that the monthly payment they show you is not the monthly payment you will be making.
IN MY CASE MY MONTHLY PAYMENTS ARE $50 MORE THAN I AGREED TO. The front of the lease states in Section 13, "The total amount you will pay for official and license fees, registration, title and taxes of the term of your Lease, whether included in your scheduled payments or assessed others: $981.41". Then I got a surprise bill for over $688 on top of that. Upon calling GM Financial they claim the bill was for property taxes even though the contract clearly doesn't state that they aren't already included in the $981.41. They then pointed to fine print buried on the back of the contract that said I was responsible for property taxes. I asked why that wasn't included in the estimate on the front of the contract and got no answer.
Perhaps the most disturbing part is that they blamed me for not knowing that I would be deceived. That I should have known that what I was told wasn't true and I should've asked. They then told me I should take it up with my local tax collector. Stay away from GM Financial and perhaps GM in general. They will do anything to close a deal even if it means deceiving a buyer.

I just took out a lease with GM Financial for a new car (car dealership selected for me). I waited to receive payment information in the mail, as I wanted to set up automatic payments as soon as possible so I wouldn't have to worry about missing a payment. I set up my auto pay as soon as I received the information to do so. I've never missed a payment in my life, but logged on to my account last night, and to my surprise saw "Payment Past Due!" in bright red text.
I obviously started panicking... I thought my first payment would be automatically withdrawn from my bank account. I never received an email or phone call that I missed a payment and now I'm technically 20 days late! I just did a one-time payment using Western Union, but now I'm very upset and worried about my credit score and the interest on my loan. I guess I thought it would be common sense for a business to send a communication to their customers as soon as a payment is missed. I'm really hoping they will "forgive" this incident for me, as it was my first payment and I've never been late paying any of my bills - ever. Ugh. Not cool.

I took out an Agreement with GMAC car finance in 2009. The Agreement came to an end in November 2014 but during this period GMAC failed to credit some of my payments. This has been going on now for 2 1/2 years and I've now sent 8 times proof of payments made via bank statements and financial statements. I had a debt collector who realised I'd paid and returned the case back to GMAC who later got their Solicitors involved who also realised that everything was up to date. Shoosmiths requested bank statements from 2011 to the present day when they came on board and when I told them that GMAC already had copies, I was told that under the Data Protection Act GMAC had destroyed them as they were no longer fit the purpose...WHAT. The dispute was still ongoing.
When the Debt Collector came I told him that I would be charging for my time and expenses and duly sent to GMAC a Notice of Intention to charge with interest @ 4% per month. They later de-instructed Shoosmiths and I kept receiving default letters which meant they were taking no notice of bank statements or their Solicitors. Shoosmiths admitted that they were not responding to their letters either. Got a letter at the end of November 2015 demanding payment for 4 months and fees of £350.00. Sent bank statements showing 2 payments made and pointed out that the 2 other payments they were asking for were clearly shown as received on THEIR history of payments received and I asked for a breakdown of the £350 fees as I hadn't had one. I submitted my invoice and also enclosed a copy of my Notice as I felt that if they had destroyed the bank statements they might well have destroyed that letter too.
These docs were sent by Special Delivery on the 8th December and they received it on the 9th - somebody called Dibbs signed for it. As I had been given the wrong tracking code, I re-sent them by fax thinking that Royal Mail had lost the correspondence so they have received everything twice. To date I've not heard a word back. Does this come under the Fraud Act or fraud under the Consumer Credit Act as someone has had my money. I want to write to them once more before going to my Solicitor so any advice as to what to put please would be most welcome. I've come to the end of my tether.

When we purchased the car, we didn't realize the depreciation on the car would grow at a higher rate than the principle would drop. 5 years into a 7-year loan we still owe 70% of the loan amount, which is twice the value of the car. The car is now a total loss. Everyone asks if we had "GAP Insurance". I've never heard of GAP insurance. When I talked to someone at GM I asked why GAP insurance wasn't a requirement on these high-interest loans. He said they couldn't require it. Nonsense, they require collision. Why not make GAP a requirement if you know that most of your clients will be upside down on their loans?
Each phone call to them ends in frustration. They are slow to give answers. They are slow to send payoff requests. Even though it is the "loss mitigation" department, they will not discuss cash settlement offers until the loan has been in default for 12 months. I had another department tell me there was no record of us having any conversations with them since the wreck, which is not true. After purchasing a car through AmeriCredit in 2008 my wife became permanently disabled reducing our monthly income to less than half. The car payment was high and we could not afford it any longer. Repeatedly told them of our problem and finally had to have them to just "voluntarily" repossess the vehicle, which they did. They sent me a letter at the end of 2009 stating I still owed them $28,000! Later in 2010 they send a letter advising they sold the vehicle for $12,000 and I still owed them $28,000. They turned over this amount to the IRS five years AFTER the fact!!!!
Then in November of 2014 and I get a letter from the IRS because I hadn't filed an amended tax return for 2009. Now, here we are in 2015 STILL fighting with the IRS because they say that the $28,000 I owed to AmeriCredit should have been added to my income. Never do business with this company. They will ruin you financially. When a person can no longer afford to pay for a vehicle or anything else due to catastrophic circumstances to back-handedly turn in something to the IRS like this is the lowest form of deceit. I realize there were pages and pages of documents to sign when taking out a loan for a car, but to demand that even if you have to return the vehicle due to the inability to pay is unfathomable.

I'd always made my payments and was even paying extra each month when I lost my job of 20 years in March 2013. It's been a nightmare ever since. I fell behind, but was paying them what I could. I'd called them and promised to mail them an entire payment and the very next day the car was gone. I paid a huge sum of money to get it back after selling something very dear to me. This was in January of this year. I've managed to keep this car by selling other things and then I finally found a job. The car, a Dodge Caliber, has needed so many repairs recently that I have fallen behind again. I talked to them today and the woman was so snotty and unwilling to work with me or even discuss what a mess this car is. It's up for repo again and I realize from reading these posts that even if I win the lotto tomorrow and pay it off, the car will never be mine because of the way they withhold the title and then come up with imaginary fees! Went and got my stuff out of the car the next day then got a notice they had sold the car at auction and I owed 5000 and something dollars. Never heard from them again. It is now 2014, I have had several strokes and am on disability. The IRS sent me a notice saying they received a 1099 from Americredit that I owe taxes on the 5000 and something dollars. I was making my monthly payment of $303.80 and around a hundred dollars extra each month to catch up the one month I missed. On the third month they repossessed the vehicle before the payment due date. I did not receive any type of notice that they intended to do this, only my regular statement that said I was behind. I feel they did this because the car was almost paid in full and they would be able to resell the vehicle at a good price. They did not care that I was making an attempt to caught up my payments. I did get the vehicle back after paying the amount of money I fell behind and an additional fee for the repo.
Granted I did fall behind one payment and it was going to take me three months to square up I had good intentions and the vehicle was almost paid for - seems they weren't very upfront about the seriousness of the situation. I had four and half years of paying my payments on time and they definitely made all kinds of money on the interest they charged me. You think some type of letter warning me that I was in danger of repo would be appropriate in this situation. Only reason I gave two stars is that the lady I worked with to get the car out of repo was very nice and seemed genuine. As for my credit it took a hit and I have been driving this car to the ground before I even think of trying to get something newer. I had personal property in vehicle that the repo company would not allow me to get until I pay them a $60.00 fee. Lucky for me New Jersey Law states that I can pick up my personal property without paying a fee. I sent faxes to both the repo company and GM Financial stating NJ don't require me to pay a fee to pick up my personal property from a repossess vehicle.
After about 6 faxes, I finally got a call from the repo company and GM that I don't have to pay the fee. However, GM is requesting that I leave the vehicle keys with the repo company for them to release my personal property. Lucky for me, I recorded my conversation with the repo company as they stated that I have to drop off the car keys to get my personal property. They finally allow me to pickup my personal property.
Now GM Financial is saying that they will have to repo company cut a key so they can auction the vehicle. I remind them that they agreed to reinstate my loan if I pay the past due balance, late fees and repo fees. Therefore, they cannot change their mind about reinstating my loan. Throughout all of this, they are only communicating via phone, so I started to record all my conversations. I let the rep know that the conversation is being recorded (legal requirement in most states) at the beginning of all conversation. Also, I follow up all conversation with a fax and email. I just sent the reinstatement department a fax requesting they confirm the amount and the payment method. Hopefully, then will reply via e-mail or fax so I will have something in writing. I was continually redirected to the Reinstatement Department each time I called. No person ever answered my call in the Reinstatement Department (just an automated system saying to leave a message) and no person in the Reinstatement Department ever returned my messages. Finally, after about a dozen calls, a customer service representative informed me that the Reinstatement Department only has 8 employees, is a very busy department and my call would be returned in the order it was received and by priority. My concern is that there is no Reinstatement Department because in 8 hours yesterday, no one answered the phone or called me back. That seems impossible even with only 8 employees.
I want to pay the amount to bring my payment current along with all the fees I know have been charged to me due to the repossession so I can have my car returned to me. I have someone willing to help me out but I can't reach anyone at Americredit/GM Financial's Reinstatement Department. We paid the original payments for 2 years before it was repossessed. I called today to get our balance, which we thought would be less than $2,400 (at the time of repossession we owed $3,000). I was told our balance is $6,000. In 2006 this was a used car. If we paid the $6,000 for this car that we no longer have, we will have paid $13,800 plus 2 years of car payments, which was at least $4,800. I have a 2006 Ford F150 and was originally financed through Long Beach Acceptance which then had been bought out by Americredit. Then GMAC took over Americredit. Throughout the 6 year finance, I had done 6 payment deferments which extended my loan to 78 months. I had only asked for a one month deferment and I was advised that the only way to do a deferment is that it would be for 2 months not 1 and it would cost me $352 and some change. I said okay as I have dealt with deferments in the past with no issues.
Due to my circumstances, I had no choice and paid each time the same amount. I was advised that when my next payment was due, it would be applied to my loan as normal and I was okay with that. Okay, after all that, I financed my loan in Aug. of 2006. Here it is March 2013 and GMAC is stating I owe close to a $4,000 balloon payment because it is a daily simple interest loan in which I know the type of loan and was never advised of this information prior to to 3 months ago. I have talked to customer service requesting to speak to a manager. I was advised none were available but I could leave a voice mail which I did.
I never received a call back. I called back asking for payment research to review my payment history which I still have not received. I did about a year ago and I did receive that one from Americredit and saw the 3 payments that went to interest. I have been advised on one phone call that this balloon payment was interest. Then I was told it was principal; then I was told it was principal and interest. I asked them over 20 times to please research the account from day one and requested yet again for a complete payment history with the $352 payments included and that was 2 weeks ago.
I have emailed them numerous times without a response; besides, the automated response was, "We will get back to you." I have over 50 emails saved on my email account where some received responses such as, "Thank you for your request", "Please call after ..." I had already stated I had called on several occasions. I am not having Chase and Bank of America send me all of my account histories since Aug. 1, 2006 until present to go to a lawyer to fight this matter because it is unfair to anyone to go through this.
I deal with daily simple interest mortgages, the same type of loan, just one for a house and one for an automobile. When a customer is late, the next statement you receive reflects the higher balance due to the incurred interest for the days they were late. I never received a statement reflecting this information. The other thing I have had issues with is the website for GMAC showing my account details; it reflects totally different amounts owed along with how many payments are due. I brought this to their attention and was ignored by 5 reps who stated, "You owe what our system says you do." I asked if the website is part of their system since they receive my payments through there and they stated yes. So I asked, "Why isn't it reflecting the same information?" And I did not get an answer. This is a horrible company and I am now seeking legal action.

In March of this year 2012, I called and was told I had 5 more payments to make and my car would be paid off. Americredit switched to GMAC and I called the same number to verify that my car would be paid off in August 2012. She told me, very nasty, that I now owe $4,732.00 for August 15, 2012. I asked why, no explanation, but the contract will be up and it will be turned over to a collection agency. I have been paying $401.92 on a 2004 PT Cruiser and had 3 deferred payments. My contract should have been up December 2011. Thinking they added on 3 deferred payments is why I made the call in the first place. Something is really wrong. That will be 80 months of payments.

I got a lease through AmeriCredit for a 2008 VW Eos and paid on time every month. I then terminated my lease early by 3 months as I was pregnant and due on the day it needed to be returned and paid everything I owed off. Then all of a sudden about 10 months later I get threatening phone calls from the collections department at AmeriCredit about how I owe money and I haven’t paid. Mind you, I never received a bill; I only received a statement saying I owe $0. I spoke to the supervisor who was just as lovely as the guy who kept calling me and yelling at me. I used the car that year for 2.5 months during the tax billing cycle of my town and AmeriCredit wants me to pay for the full year of taxes and that’s why they started calling me.
I sent them a copy of my returned plates and vehicle over 3 times, because every time I sent it once the next time I called they say they never received it or it was "misplaced". I said I am more than happy to pay for the 2.5 months of taxes I owe, but not a full year. Finally, they said they would submit it to the town for a refund. Any time I call them, all they do is talk down to me and tell me it’s out of their control and will not help me in any way. This battle has been going on now for almost a year! I even wrote a letter to the president of VW for help and it goes to show they didn’t read my letter as they wrote me back saying I am on my own and gave me the wrong phone number at the wrong leasing place to call. I would never work with them again!

After reading about so many bad outcomes doing business with AmeriCredit, I decided to take a screen shot of my bill one day before my note came due. The day after, AmeriCredit added nearly a thousand to my past due, and the total due also. It now states that I owe about $2,100 extra. I called right away and was redirected to a department that handles the pay-off, and was told to ignore what I've seen on the bill, that it's a computer glitch. I discussed that I want this corrected and was further told that he was a low man on the ladder and but if I felt it was important, that he would email someone about it. Even though minutes earlier he's supposedly talking to someone about my inquiry?
It was a beat around the bush discussion with comments made that some people don't know what they are getting into? Etc, etc... And he also turned my request of an explanation of what I owe into a request of payoff. What a detour from the issue, I'm soon to be stuck with, I'm sure. Anyways, it’s very unfortunate for all of us who are trying to continue to pay on these accounts. I'm definitely expecting to lose this battle, but I'm going to do my best not to.

I had a loan through Americredit for a 2003 Sunfire. I made payments faithfully. Then one day, they showed up to repo it. When I asked the repo man why, he showed me papers saying that I was 5 months behind on payments. When I called Americredit and finally got an answer, they told me that 5 months earlier, a $15 charge was added to my payment for that month due to some error the previous month on their part. Since I had the payment as direct draw from my checking account and rarely even got a statement from Americredit, I had no idea this was going on. So they repo'd my car for $15 and then told me I would have to pay $2,000 to get it back and still make the rest of the $3,300 I still owed on the car. Obviously, I couldn't come up with $5k in a few days, so they sold the car at auction, after repairing everything they could find on it and sent me the bill. We started fighting the proceedings and stopped payments. They took our tax return and demanded the rest of the money. So we had no choice but to set up payments with them: $1,500 down and $500 twice a month until the loan was paid. Outrageous.
So now, a year after, it is all said and done, I get a call from a debt collection agency. Americredit has reported me for the overdue/non-payed loan of $3,337. I am not freaking paying for that car again. And of course, Americredit has no records of us paying it off and we've since changed banks and therefore have no records either.

The loan on a previously owned Uplander mini-van was financed for just over $20,000 that was to be paid at just over $540.00 for 69 payments, which would put the financing at over $37,260. There were 3 deferments on the loan and late payments, which were paid, but at the end of the loan, they called two months before the loan was paid, and said an additional $2,800 was owed on the van. The computer said the payoff was around $1,800, which I thougt was wrong, due to all that had already been paid.
Where did that extra thousand dollars come from? They said it was interest on 2 months before we could pay the van off. There was no help from them in anyway. I was told that I could let it get repossessed, and sent to auction, and pay the difference from what it sold for. What a joke! I ended up paying almost $40,000 for a pre-owned vehicle that I financed for just over $21,000. Boy, did Americredit get their money, and from what I hear, this is general practice. My loan with Americredit was due to mature on 5/12/11 and I had three payments left to make. I pulled my 401K out and made the very last payment to them on 5/9/11, which I had made 54 of 54 payments on the contract. I was told that I would be notified of any balance.
I was sent a letter in the mail that I owed them $2500 more with no explanation, no detailed statement, no payment plan. I was told I had 120 days to make the payment of the balance in full by 9/12/11 or it would be charged off on my credit and I will never receive my title until I pay it. In February of 2010, I was severely injured at work, which meant I had to fight my employer and the workers’ compensation board. We were doing okay for a while, but in March of 2011, we were ruled against and lost the workers’ compensation income. This came on the heels of my spouse losing her job.
We explained the situation to Americredit and worked out a deferment that was for a 2-month span, which for a 5-year loan is not that long. Pretty much the day the deferment ended, they were calling, and I don't mean just once or twice a day, we are talking as many as 9 calls in one day.
They finally said the car was slated for repo and I did not argue. The repo people however, never showed up and I received several more calls telling me it was in repo. Finally, we were told that my workers’ compensation would be reinstated and we made a large payment to Americredit, which was supposed to get us flush. Instead, they chose to apply part of it to interest.
We continued to receive several automated and manned calls a day, until finally, I was told by one female representative that she saw the problem and would fix it. This "fix" did not happen as we continued to get many calls.
Finally, after we were told by one rude rep that she was "not going to invest time listening", I spoke to a manager named Tim, who we set up another payment to cover the "owed" amount and the next month’s payment.
The very next day after making this scheduled payment, we still received multiple calls. It's bad enough that we hate the car, the loan terms are ridiculous and that the only reason we got it was that we needed a reliable vehicle for our family. But to be continually harassed on a daily basis even when we have caught up, it's enough to make you want to scream and cry.

What are my rights as a consumer in a car loan agreement? What amount and type of personal information for disclosure is ethical? What are my options to pay off this debt if the principal balance continues to increase?
Yesterday, I was declined a deferment due to failure to provide different personal references. I have filed one deferment in the past with this institution and the personal references for that application still exist and are credible (immediate family members, all individuals are alive). The reasons given to me for rejecting my application are "you are not giving us different references in case we are not able to contact you directly, the references you have on file are not good enough, you are not being cooperative and wish to give us what you feel like giving us, these are the terms for this deferment, we can't help you if you can't give us better references."
The reason for failure to make payments in a timely matter stem from my existing employer's inability to provide me with full time employment. In the past three months I have communicated this with my lender, placing phone calls every two weeks and making payment arrangements. Throughout each phone conversation, none of the customer representatives have suggested a deferment. Therefore I am accruing fees to my existing loan (e.g. late fee for being late on payment more than 10 days, late fees for not paying minimum amount monthly). This is gradually increasing my principal balance and ultimately hindering my ability to pay off my debt in a reasonable amount of time.

The remaining payments from my first vehicle were added on to my new vehicle's loan as I requested, which only brought the payments up around fifty dollars.
Now my other bills are piling up, and I've decided that I need to make sacrifices in order to make ends meet, considering that AmeriCredit won't help me. Instead making small adjustments so I could pay later, but added on the late fee instead, which doesn't help my current situation.
I decided that my vehicle needs to go. I managed to find a potential buyer, and everything was looking good. When I called AmeriCredit to let them know what's going on and allow them to do a credit check on the new buyer, AmeriCredit denied it before I could even pass the phone over. This letter is to bring your attention to our negative experience with Dana ** of the Chandler, Arizona AmeriCredit location and to lodge a formal complaint against her. I became involved with this matter after my son, Blake **, came to live with us in Colorado this past July due to his unemployed status and subsequent eviction from his home in Hawaii. Unfortunately Blake is one of the many victims in our current National economic crisis and as a single father, sought our help to house him and his son while he searches for gainful employment. We contacted Dana **, per her request, to discuss options available to us to rectify the delinquent status of Blake's 2004 Ford Explorer.
All conversations with Ms. ** were via speaker mode so all three of us would be clear as to what was discussed. In our initial discussion Dana advised Blake that he was 82 days delinquent and that a repossession order had been issued. Blake educated Dana to the fact that he had previously contacted AmeriCredit as soon as he was downsized (approx. March/April) and tried to refinance or modify his monthly payments in an attempt to work with AmeriCredit to avoid delinquency.
Blake was told that AmeriCredit does not refinance loans and that the only option available to him was to defer his delinquent payments and remain current on all future payments. Dana even acknowledged that until Blake became unemployed he was in good standing with AmeriCredit, but that she couldn't discuss our options until she had the location of the vehicle.
I explained to Dana that I wanted to ascertain what our options were before divulging the location of the vehicle because repossession might be a mute point as Blake's father, step-mother, myself and my husband were looking into the possibility of satisfying the balance of the vehicle or becoming current, but needed more information, including balance owed before making that decision. Dana's demeanor and voice became hostile as she kept pressing for the location of the car before any further discussions could take place.
I also explained to Dana that my past experience in former positions as a Director of Sales and Marketing and Senior Account Executive, afforded me the insight into her attempt, but ill applied use of strategic maneuvers utilizing canned dialog, repetition of company protocol and constant side-stepping techniques. I requested that she take a step back, calm down and remove the hostility from her voice/antagonistic attitude before our conversation could continue. I asked several times to be elevated to her supervisor as I felt her attitude (though Blake and I remained calm and even-toned) hindered our successful communication.
Dana refused and stated that she was the agent assigned to the case and that her status as Assistant V.P. was as high as we could go. The only information we obtained from Dana during that conversation was the balance due, confirmation that AmeriCredit does not refinance loans, that the delinquent balance would have to be brought current/or deferred, and that future payments of nearly $500/month would have to be made on-time, and that no other options were available to us other than payment in full to satisfy the loan. I then ended the conversation by advising Dana that I would discuss the options with all parties involved and contact her. She gave me a deadline of 5-business days to do so.
On the 5th business day, I received a voice message on my home answering machine from Dana asking us to contact her. I was furious as we have outgoing ID-blocker on our phone so Dana should have not had access to our home phone number, nor did I divulge our address/telephone number to her at any time. I returned the call and left a voice message stating such and that she did not have my permission to utilize my home phone in the future. Blake and I called Dana back the next day and informed her that we had an appointment the previous day with a Bankruptcy Attorney (true fact) and due to Blake's homeless and unemployed status, we felt he had no other recourse than to file bankruptcy due to AmeriCredits company policies. Dana's response was, "we'll see how the Bankruptcy Judge rules".
After that rude remark, we provided Dana with Blake's new address here in Colorado and gave Dana the physical address of the vehicle. We requested the name and phone number of the repossession company so we could cooperate fully by personally contacting them, provide them the code to the key less entry door, location of the keys inside the vehicle, and exactly where it was parked for easy access. After providing us with the repo company's information, Dana asked us to provide her with our Attorney's information to forward to her legal department. We declined so she hastily ended the conversation and hung up. We immediately contacted R.T. Towing at 808-885-4488 and provided them the information noted above.
I was infuriated with Dana's continued hostile and rude attitude and the way she ended our phone call so after our conversation with R.T. Towing, I called AmeriCredits Chandler location, asked to speak to Dana's direct supervisor, and was transferred to Mr. Erin **. I explained to Erin that I wanted to lodge a complaint against Dana and then went into detail about her deplorable and unprofessional conduct. Blake and I had a lengthy conversation with Erin and requested that our detailed conversation be noted. I also suggested that if the company keeps recordings of customer/agent conversations, that he access the tapes to substantiate our attempts to cooperate in a calm manner, and Dana's continued rude and unprofessional behavior.
I am amazed that Dana's tactics, coupled with her lack of any sort of feigned compassion or empathy, have been rewarded by elevating her to the Assistant V.P. status she holds with your company. I explained to Erin, as I had to Dana, that we (Blake's parents and step-parents) wanted to explore the possibility of a reduced pay-off amount to satisfy the loan in lieu of filing bankruptcy. Erin explained that it is not AmeriCredits policy to do so. I proposed an amount of approximately $7,000 (blue book value of the car is only $10,000 even though the balance was $14,593,37) as it would likely be more than the company would receive at auction and was all that we collectively could afford at that time. Avoiding a bankruptcy filing would benefit all involved. I asked Erin to elevate this request accordingly and let me know if it would be considered.
We also provided Erin with Blake's new Colorado address and e-mail address as a means of communication because Blake's cell phone was soon to be terminated. I advised Erin that we would continue exploring avenues to become current or satisfy the loan in full. Erin assured us that we would receive written notices of redemption/sale and a specific amount of time to cure the delinquency prior to the sale of the vehicle. We received no such notices to the Colorado address we provided. We appreciated Erin's explanation of the repossession process/procedure including the written notifications involved. We had previously requested the information from Dana who declined to respond. We thanked Erin for his cooperation and time. I applaud and would like noted, Erin's empathy, compassion, and professionalism.
He extended dignity, courtesy and respect to Blake during these hard and humiliating times. Erin made us feel that he truly understood that everyone falls on hard times, but that the destruction caused by those hard times does not define the person. As noted in the body of this letter, we provided both Ms. ** and Mr. **l with Blake's new Colorado address (**, Colorado) upon disclosure of the vehicles location; prior to the date of the Explorer's repossession. Unfortunately the change of address apparently was not noted in Blake's file as the notice of right to redeem and notice of our plan to sell property were mailed to an obsolete address, which in turn was forwarded to another obsolete address, and did not reach our possession until well past the sale date of the vehicle.
This oversight by AmeriCredit (and possible sabotage from Ms. ** due to our direct complaint against her) precluded us from our lawful right to redeem or become current in payments prior to the vehicles sale and therefore negates any outstanding balance due. We have filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and intend to elevate this matter to be investigated for lack of due process, malicious intent and possible class action suit if similar complaints have been filed. We understand that you have a limited amount of time to acknowledge our complaint and expect a prompt response outlining the intent of your actions including collection proceedings or dismissal. I have received a letter from the Legal Department of AmeriCredit stating that they "would like the opportunity to address the concerns stated in the letter, however more information is required.
At your earliest convenience, please fax a signed letter of authorization from our customer to discuss the account. Upon receipt of this information I will research this matter". I appreciate this gesture; however, I was denied due process and I lost my car. Now I face the possibility of them pursuing me for the outstanding balance. Their company policy of non-modification (even after my contacting them immediately after the loss of my job) proved to be pointless/fruitless. That coupled with possible sabotage from the "agent" warrants research and repercussions. How many other "clients" have they done this to??? Thank you for your consideration!

I had to file bankruptcy several years ago and almost right away was involved in a car accident in which my car was totaled. I was able to get a loan with AmeriCredit for a late model Ford Explorer and have made every single payment on time. One month, someone misread the amount on the money order and entered the wrong amount in their system. They started to harass me at work and refused to correct their records despite having proof that the money order was in the correct amount.
They even told me one time this was "my problem" to work out. Well, within a few days I decided to file a complaint with the Texas Attorney General's office and included the name of the lady that said it was my problem. Then I sent an e-mail through their website to AmeriCredit to tell them what I had done. They promptly corrected their records and I have had no more problems with them.

Honestly all these complaints I hear about AmeriCredit, it is pretty annoying and vague. If your payments were on time, then none of this would happen, right? I believe it is bad budgeting on the consumers end here. This company is a sub-prime lender, meaning your credit is not the greatest of credit. It is pretty self explanatory, there is a reason why AmeriCredit financed your vehicle, because no one else will. Now don't get me wrong, I am not perfect, no one is, but also no one forced you to get financed through AmeriCredit and no one forced you to sign a contract with high interest and high monthly payments, the decision was made on the consumers end, not AmeriCredits.
Put it this way, if you were a finance company and your customers were delinquent on their account, what would you do? Exactly, you would try to get your money or at least some of it back. Unemployed, sick, off of work and no work hours, cut? In life there are no excuses, only results. Budget! Save money! If you know you have a note due, why would you go shopping and blow half of it off? If you are unemployed, hurry and find a job, maybe? I think it is funny, don't get me wrong, but society has a way of "milking" the government. The unemployed people just accept it the way it is and just keep on taking the unemployment instead of looking for another job.
When people find out they will make less then they did before, they always turn down that job. Keep in mind you can only get so many extensions on your unemployment. For the ones saying, "I was sick for a week and cannot make a payment because I was off work," that is a [lie]. Ever heard of sick time? If you haven't, well, you get paid for the time still. Like I said early, there are no excuses in life, only results.

My car was repossessed. Later, it was sold for an undisclosed amount. I received a bill saying I have to pay 11 thousand. However, I settled for 50 percent of the 11 thousand which is about 5 thousand. I was told that if I cannot pay for a vehicle and it is repossessed, I shouldn't be paying for it. Am I being scammed? The vehicle which I was paying for was worth about 21 thousand. At a monthly payment of about 700 dollars, it's taking a huge chunk out of my wallet. I've no money for living expenses and food. I'm practically broke.

I have been making payments for 60 months, which was the life of the loan. I got behind a couple of times and in December 2009, asked for an amount to catch everything up through the January payment. They gave me an amount and I paid it. Since then, I have paid every month on time. This month, they showed a payment made on the website but say that it was an invalid bank account number. They also said the same thing happened in Feb, but I was never notified. So according to my account, I owe 9 payments so I asked them for a payoff. My calculation of $432.39 per month is $3891.51. Their actual payoff amount quote is over $7k. They have continuously harassed me for 5 long drawn out years, threatened me many times. I have paid them $26k and the loan was for $16k for 60 months. This month is month 60 and I have put 3 payments on the back of the loan. This is by far the worst company I have ever in 43 years dealt with. I am a single mother of 3 daughters. I fell a little behind in my auto payment around October 2009 due to having to pay for books for school a month prior. So I received a call from a GMAC representative named Bill the week of November 8 to discuss why the account was past due. I then told him the happenings, and he then began to tell me I could get a 60-day extension on my account. The basis of the 60-day extension was to pay the discussed amount, which was $500.00, and when that payment was made, I could then be eligible for the 60-day extension.
What the 60-day extension would do was put the October and November payments on the end months of my account. I was told to call after submitting this payment to ensure that the extension would be applied to my account. Hearing this and agreeing to take the extension, I submitted a payment of $500 on November 18 to cover for late charges for my October payment and to obtain my extension. I called during the process of wiring my money via Western Union to ensure that I'm sending it to the right place.
When I called and got connected to a representative, the representative I had spoken the week prior, Bill, wasn't at the extension he provided for me to reach him at. This time I was in contact with a lady, and we talked through the process. I made mention of the 60-day extension that Bill said I could obtain. She was very polite with handling the account and stated that she'd note on the account for my extension to take place.
Thinking everything is "Hunky-dory" (going good), I get a call from a GMAC rep named Ernest **, the week prior to December 16. He wanted to know how come I haven't submitted a payment in December. I then relayed the information to him from the conversation between me and the representative Bill. He then proceeded to say sorry for the misleading information provided by their representative, but I was ineligible for a 60-day extension, because I had received a 30-day extension in February earlier in the year.
He then said I needed to come up with $218 for late charges from October. The initial plan was for me to pay the $218, and they'd work with me for the December and January payment. And then, I'd be eligible for a 60-day extension in February.
Very bamboozled and aggravated at this point, I decided to gather the money and send it in. I sent a money order for $219 on December 16 to the mailing address provided by GMAC's automated voice, which is located in Louisville, Kentucky. As a follow-up procedure, the rep called a couple days later to see if I had sent the money, because it had yet to reach them.
Unfortunately, the money hadn't gotten to them yet, and the rep was beginning to grow impatient with me and proceeded to ask for me to send an additional $218. I told him I had no way to come up with the money and told him to check the location where GMAC's checks and/or money orders are to be sent to. He replied, "That is too long of a process." Very infuriated with me, the two of us then just get off the phone without resolving anything.
So, time went by, and on January 5, 2010 at 12:10am, a guy was knocking at my door and said he's the repo man. He has my 2007 Impala hoisted up on the tow truck already and let me get my belongings out of the car before towing it. I told him my predicament, and he said, "Between me and you, GMAC are idiots. But don't tell them I said that!" He then said, "Things like this happen all the time, but you could call them (GMAC) in the morning, and they'll probably release the vehicle if you tell them what you just told me." Then he drove away with my vehicle on his tow truck.
I called GMAC the next morning and asked to speak with a manager and was transferred to speak with a Jacob **. I then proceeded to again regurgitate the information from previous conversations I held with Bill and Ernest **. He started getting very ignorant and rude, because I began telling him that his rep was at fault for giving me misleading information and having me thinking one thing when it's another. He then crudely stated, "Our rep isn't at fault. You just need to accept responsibility for your actions." I then told him I could have done something, if I had known from the beginning that I wouldn't be eligible for an extension.
The conversation was then ended after that. I called back to speak with another rep and was given a number to what's called their "redemption center," because they're no longer handling my account at the bank, and whatever. I then called the redemption center to complain about the situation, and they said they couldn't do anything about it, because no payment had been posted to my account. Then I finally got to thinking to find my receipt from the money order I sent. I searched frantically for the money order receipt and found it, to call the place I purchased it from.
After getting connected to someone, I gave her the money order number and the amount of the money order. She then told me the money was cashed and cleared on December 28. I then asked "where," and she said I had to come in person for that info to be relayed to me. After bumming a ride to the Currency Exchange I purchased the money order from, the lady printed out a copy of the front and back of the money order to show where it was cashed.
The lettering of the stamp that was used to stamp on the back of the money order was illegible, but the lady said, "it appeared to cashed at a bank, but I can't tell where." So there's a towed car. GMAC still denying any payment being posted to my account. But there's a cashed money order and a distraught individual without a car who has to bum a ride to and from work and has to cancel his classes for the Spring 2010 semester, because he has no one to take him to the university he's attending 35 minutes away in Hammond, IN, and he's living in Joliet, IL!

I took it to a repair shop to have an estimate done on the repair. I later found out the owner of the repair shop had a gambling problem and ran a mechanic line on my vehicle. I was displaced from work at the time due to a work related injury which required lower back surgery. Needless to say, I could not afford the payment much less the repairs. Americredit apparently never received the vehicle and auctioned it off, and I am left with the entire amount owed on the car. The damages were appraised at less then $3,000. In my opinion, the car was worth something at auction which would have reduced the amount I now owe.

My mother purchased a vehicle which was financed by AmeriCredit. My mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer a couple of years after the purchase of the vehicle; through her chemotherapy time frame I continued making the payments on her vehicle to help her out. In January of 2009 my mother lost the battle to cancer.
During the 6-month period which she was in and out of the hospital I contacted AmeriCredit and advised them of my mother's rapid deteriorating state. The cancer had traveled to her head and she was deteriorating rapidly and her mental state was also deteriorating rapidly. I faxed a written request to provide me with the payment information so I could continue making her payments on the vehicle.
AmeriCredit began taking my payments and suddenly decided they would no longer accept payments from me. However, AmeriCredit continuously called me to my personal cell phone and my place of employment up to 20 times per day demanding to speak to my mother. I would continuously advise them that my mother was terminally ill but they on many occasions told me that I was lying to them and that I needed to put her on the phone. I would tell them that I would be submitting her payments AmeriCredit would continuously tell me that they would not be accepting them.
My mother finally passed away from her cancer in January of 2009. AmeriCredit continued to contact me and I then refused to talk to them since they had refused to talk to me during my attempts to assist my mother. They would tell me that I was lying and that my mother had not died. They then began calling my place of employment numerous times even asking to speak to my immediate supervisor and the main boss. I was pulled into the office by my supervisor who advised me that a lady from a company AmeriCredit was continuously calling.
I advised her that I owed the company no money, and the account which they were referring to belonged to my now deceased mother. I felt I had no obligation to them since my name nor signature was on the contract. AmeriCredit continued to harass me calling me 20-30 times daily and even called my sister and offered her $200 if she would give them my address. Since I did not owe them a dime and I never signed a contract with them I am having a hard time understanding why they would go through extreme measures to collect something from me which I did not have. They were very crude at the statements they would make to me and tell me that I needed to tell them where the vehicle was located.
At this point I had no idea where the vehicle was, I simply assisted my mom with payments in her time of need. I didn't feel I was financially obligated to AmeriCredit once my mother passed away. I was threatened by this company so many times and the calls to my place of employment continued 10-15 times per day. Can a company do that? Harass a person who owes them nothing as much as they harassed me? My reputation at work was damaged. The representative was persistent and lied to my supervisor and advised her that I was not paying my debts. I never owed them anything. The embarrassment that was caused to me has caused irreparable damage to my professional status. Receptionists and coworkers all received numerous phone calls from this company looking for me when I owed them nothing. Not to mention my sister being bribed. Can companies do that? Bribe people like that? I am appalled at the things corporations get away with and it seems like we can do nothing about it.

My job where I had been working full-time at for three years came in one day and told me they had to cut my hours due to the economy. Well due to them cutting my hours at work, naturally I wasn't making the same amount as before and began to fall behind on my bills including my car payment in which I had financed through Americredit. I contacted Americredit to let them know my payment will be late because my hours were cut back from full-time to part-time and my income was drastically reduced. I informed them I would make my payment, but it would be late. Of course they continued to call me numerous times a day afterwards even after I spoke with at least three different reps. Well, a few months after that, I ended up losing my job.
Well I contacted Americredit once again to let them know I now have no job and was waiting to hear from unemployment. The rep I spoke with was rude, had a horrible attitude and told me when I find out about how much unemployment I get, I need to inform her with that information and maybe I need to return the car to them if I can't make the payments! How rude. She made no apologies or showed no sympathy for me losing my employment. Well since then, I have spoke to at least three other reps and then talked to a Christine at Americredit, who was extremely rude and arrogant with me and wouldn't work with me at all with the payments.
Christine even talked over me and had the nerve to argue with me on the phone because I informed her Americredit was harassing me with phone calls everyday numbering at least 8-10 per day even though I have been in contact with them the entire time and they knew I would make my payment, but it was going to be late. They continued to call and call, and Americredit called me so many times my voicemail was completely full and this was after I informed them also that this was my cell phone as I had no landline. They were using up my minutes. Americredit didn't care at all. I told this to Christine, and she was sarcastic and told me their "legal dept" didn't view that as harassment, even though Americredit continues to call me everyday nonstop at least ten times per day, sometimes more.
I also told Christine I would file a complaint against them with the BBB and Consumer Affairs and she told me bluntly "If that's what you need to do to be happy, then do it!" In addition, Americredit charges the highest interest rates on their financing and I have also asked for that to be reduced because it takes forever to pay your car off and they are basically acting like the Mafia, charging high interest rates and then threatening to take your car, and harassing you at work and home with numerous phone calls a day! I've had problem after problem with my 2004 Cavalier including the fact that the car cuts off at various intervals like it did with me when I was on the interstate. It just cut off on me in the middle of traffic and no mechanic can find out what's wrong. What I owe left on the car is two times more than what it's even worth now! I still receive numerous calls everyday as of the present date so that still continues!

They said that if I don't miss a payment within 6 months, I can transfer the car to my name and they would lower the payments. Well it was a lie. I'm still paying $568.00, and the car is still under her name. I had an accident with the same car and been out of work since 3-24-09. I explained all this to Americredit, because my family's been helping me with food and shelter and the car payment. My father is even willing to give me $3000.00 to buy off the car from the bank so I won't lose it and also not to damage my sister-in-law's credit. But I can't get no one to help me. Not Americredit or Huntington Bank.
The car was fixed but is not the same, and it now has more mileage, so it doesn't have the same book value. I don't want to lose the car, but I can't make the monthly payments anymore. I feel terrible, because I don't want my sister-in-law's credit. She did me this favor and now what? Nobody thinks about the damage this situation is causing. Bronx Suzuki lied when they said the payment would be lowered in 6 months; they only care about making their money. Americredit doesn't want to understand my situation. I heard of people that can't afford their payment and were able to settle with the bank to buy off the car. My father is willing to help me to get out of the situation by buying the car. I am an activated Navy reservist. Upon notification that I was being mobilized and deployed to Southwest Asia, I contacted AmeriCredit in reference to a leased vehicle. I inquired about the possibility of an early termination of my lease under the terms of the Soldiers & Sailors Civil Relief Act (SSCRA). At that time, I was transferred to a representative in the Recovery and Collections department. I spoke with the representative and was informed that I could turn the vehicle in and that it would be treated as an early termination of a lease, the same as it would be treated if I had purchased a new vehicle and traded the vehicle in. I then discussed what needed to happen to start the process. I made several follow up calls, and made every attempt to make the process, as easy as possible.
After the vehicle was recovered by the company, I received bills from them stating that I owed them over $8,000 to complete the process. My wife made a few calls and the situation was quickly corrected and the company sent us letters stating that all debts were paid and that the account was closed. My wife and I made follow up calls to ensure that everything was completed and that the transaction was reported to the credit bureau accurately. A few months after completing the process, I found that AmeriCredit had reported to the credit bureau that the vehicle was a voluntarily surrender and that I had an outstanding balance of over $8,000. My wife again contacted AmeriCredit and advised them of the error on the credit report. The customer service representative (CSR) that she initially spoke to, at that time, told her that she was unclear how that would have happened because the account was clearly marked in several locations, stating that it was being turned in under the SSCRA. She was then transferred to the supervisor of the CSR for resolution.
My wife spoke to the supervisor about the issues. Then I called and spoke to the supervisor, and we were both told that while he knew that the reporting was not accurate, that he could not change the reporting, and if we wanted it fixed, that we need to contact the credit bureau and file a dispute, and then he would fix the reporting. We did as he asked, even though I am aware that he could fix the issue without us jumping though all the hoops. And he did respond quickly to the dispute letters upon receipt of them, but he then reported to the credit bureau that the account was paid in full, and that the vehicle had been repossessed! As a result of these issues that I am having with this company and their credit bureau reporting process, my credit score has gone from the 800’s to the low 700’s. My wife and I recently attempted to get credit to make a purchase and for the first time in my life, I was declined.
I have started receiving notices from all my credit card companies stating that if I default or am late on any payments, they will more than double my interest rate. My wife and I have had impeccable credit for many years. I couldn’t even tell you the last time I was late on a payment, including this account. I have made every effort to remedy this issue though the company. The supervisor that I have spoken to refuses to provide me with the name and extension number of his supervisor or of any other person that I can talk to in an attempt to resolve this issue. I am reluctant to get military or government attorneys involved, but if I can’t get this resolved any other way, I will be forced to go that route. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My insurance company, Auto One, is withholding approximately $1,900, additional funds, due to me since GMAC is preventing Auto One from obtaining clear title to the vehicle. Auto One 'totaled' my vehicle and is holding it in storage.
