I’ve been a loyal Udemy user for years and have purchased numerous courses—spending a significant amount of money over time. I relied on those courses not just for learning, but as reference points for ongoing work and skill development. Recently, I got locked out of my account due to a broken or missing email verification link. I spent several hours trying to resolve it—resetting my password, checking spam folders, switching devices—but nothing worked. The support portal was no help. It kept looping me through automated bot responses that didn’t address the issue or offer a way to reach a real person.
I wasted hours trying to get past the bot, with no resolution. Now I can’t even access the site, and I was actively using those courses. I likely would’ve purchased more, but this experience has made me question the reliability of the platform. As a paying user, I expected better. Udemy needs to improve its support system and make it easier for users to get real help when things go wrong.

I purchased a training class from them. After purchase my ID was disabled and I can no longer access it. They refuse to provide an adequate explanation as to why my ID was disabled. They also will not provide a refund or transfer the class so I am out the money I spent with them. I would never use them again.

They basically deleted my entire account with all the hundreds of courses I purchased for years. Now they claim my account “is new” and that I never purchased anything. And keep asking me for dates and receipts. Like how "m a remember all that for years. Makes no sense. I register and logged in using Facebook all the time. And I login today an EVERYTHING DELETED. They are now a scam site. Simple as that. Support just repeat themselves like they got no brain. Waste of time and money.

Udemy does not appear to be working anymore. I was charged an annual subscription and the number provided on the CC receipt from the bank was some Medicare scam site. There is no phone number and no email. I cannot log on and there is no way to access or reset one's (old) account. I signed up with a new trial account to open a ticket and they send a code that never arrives so it appears that isn't working either. Do not bother.

The refund policy is crap. Once you start the course, the course is non-refundable, regardless of the content you accessed (1-100%). Some courses do not even have a preview video and no/mixed reviews and it is hard to judge the quality of content by just the name - so if you end up purchasing it to check the quality of course and soon realize that it is not worth your bucks after seeing 1-2% of content - Udemy is NOT going to REFUND it anymore.

Their unsubscribed function won't work at times and might have been intentionally tampered with. They won't take responsibility for this problem either. I believe their business conduct is not very honest.

Found courses I wanted to take as advertised at a very reasonable price. Added the courses to my cart and was forced to register with the site. When I went back to check out, courses were hundreds of $ more expensive. This is a joke.

I am working toward a python certification. I purchased a set of six practice tests. I took the first one and it was full of errors (no indentation which makes the code ambiguous to the point of being unreadable). I thought it might be just the one course, so I started the second but it too was full of errors. Udemy says I can request a refund within 30 days; but when I attempt to do so on their website; it says I have watched too much of the course. The "contact us" link just takes you to a chatbot that says it is unable to answer your question. They have no support phone number.

Udemy is a major ripoff. They don't give refunds despite statements that they do; their refund policy is so ambiguous that they can deny refunds for any reason, and they do. Their Contact button does not work. It is impossible to contact a live person or submit a trouble ticket. They do not publish a phone number or email address. Even their corporate office does not publish a phone number or email address, and their parent company, Craft, also publishes neither. The contact phone number they gave to the credit card company is a marketing recording. The whole worldwide operation seems like a huge con job; once they have your money, the only way to get it back is to challenge the credit card charge or sue. Their U.S. headquarters is in San Franpsycho, so it's futile to complain to the corrupt government there.

Ordered one course go to my page to access. It was just advertisement for other courses. Go to my purchase history. It’s there but no material is available. They said to do this and do that but I did all that’s and this just wasted time. I won’t get back because of shady marketing and empty promises. Moral of the story learning should be difficult, schools should not. The ambiguity of Udemy is vast and their trouble shooting and community help is a waste of time with a headache to go with.

I purchased 3 courses on Udemy. Upon taking the first one, I found that the links to the included labs didn't work. After reading their blob about being "very busy", I refunded the classes and submitted a ticket explaining the issue. A week later, I get a quick response saying I'm not enrolled in the classes. I told them I refunded because they were BROKEN, but udemy didn't understand and just repeated that I'm not enrolled. They simply refuse to address the broken labs. Well worth waiting a week, right? Has anyone else had problem with a broken class that was actually resolved by udemy? If so, how'd you get them to care?

The course I signed up for is over 4 years old. The product has changed since then. I also have an issue with one of the tests and no way to reach an instructor. I got on the messages page, and it won't let you compose a message. I have searched high and low, and I keep getting the FAQ page. My issue is not listed. Granted the cost of the course is great, but not helpful if I can't get answers. There is no way to put in a case for help.

I've been purchasing Udemy courses for several years now. I feel that before Udemy came into the video learning scene, video courses used to be very expensive, but Udemy democratized low cost & high quality courses. I know that course content creators aren't don't make a lot of money on the courses that they sell on Udemy because the platform puts a lot of the courses sale many times during the year. I have over 70 courses purchased from Udemy. I recently bought a course, watched it and realized it should be deprecated since they subject covered older version quite different than the newer releases. I tried to ask for a refund but I was stone walled by fine print stating I can't return it because I have watched too much of a course. Next to their "30 day money back guarantee" they should also say what's in their fine print. So disappointed.

I took the Home Health Aide course under Udemy. The instructor was Dr. Udochi **. I paid for and completed the course only to find out when I went to the agency the certification was not accepted. They informed me I was to be put on the NYS Registry. I emailed the Dr. (Only way of contacting someone at this company unless you pay for someone to call you back. Poor Customer Service) to find out about being put on the NYS Registry. She informed me that NYS requires 16 hr of in class participation and CPR AED (which I also took online with course). I emailed her shouldn't this information be provided to the student before I paid my money and wasted my time taking the course. I requested my money back via email only to get ghosted. Tried finding a number online to no avail. Udemy will only communicate via email unless you pay for someone to contact you via phone. Oh here's the kicker just received an email to take another course.

Udemy claims they refunded me money for two courses I purchased but never gave me my refund and their support team refuses to cooperate. Here are the details: I purchased two courses from Udemy and then they immediately suspended my account. This was my first purchase with Udemy. The support team informed me that my account was suspended because of suspicious activity. I am not sure what is suspicious about me buying courses from them, but they claim it was suspicious and froze my account. I was never sent an email to inform me that my account was frozen. I was never sent an email informing me I would be receiving a refund. I was never sent an actual refund.
On the Udemy website, under the "Refunds" tab, they claim that a refund was issued the same day that I bought my two courses. I was never notified of this nor sent a refund. The support team was difficult to contact, as the "contact us" button on the Udemy help center does not work. There is no phone number to contact support. It does not seem like Udemy wants to address customer issues. Once I was able to find and submit a ticket to the support team, they were extremely unhelpful. Udemy stole my money and scammed me out of valuable courses. I do not have the funds to pay for these courses a second time. Please be careful when doing "business" with Udemy.

Recently I purchased a series of highly-rated courses by the same instructor through the Udemy mobile app. I made it through the first course, very disappointed with presentation of the material, hoping the next course would be better. It wasn't, so I cancelled the other six classes in the series and requested a refund. Udemy only gives credits (at least on the app). Today I found an in-app course and went to the page showing my credits. To use them, I have to have a "credit code," but there isn't one connected to any of the classes. When I went to the FAQs, I learned that credits can't be used for in-app purchases - only for purchases made at Udemy.com. BUT...
2. The Udemy chat system doesn't have any breadth for information, i.e., no "other" and then a chance to reach a person or send an email. One is asked if one would like to submit a ticket for a credit refund, but this is a dead end for in-app credits because refunds aren't available for credits.
3. Buyer beware!!
a. In-app purchases are different than udemy.com purchases.
b. Listen to as much course preview material as possible and consider instructor presentation and your best learning style.
c. Buy only one class in a series at a time.
d. If you're "getting your feet wet" in a subject, take the highest-rated and least expensive course possible.
e. Read the course syllabus: How long are the videos? Are there course materials you can download? Is there enough course there for the money?
Hope this helps!!!

Finally was able to "create a ticket" and gave them screen shot which proved I had paid 158.00 plus gave them the date of the purchase and other information they asked for and then got an email that because I did not respond, the issue is considered resolved. I actually repurchased the course I was halfway into when it went missing. Absolutely no satisfaction and yes, terrible customer service!

I've been using Udemy almost daily since the start of 2023, learning programming and cloud full-time. For most of this year it was great, but it seems like lately they have been skimping on server costs or something, as there are so many issues that plague the experience. In the last 3 months I've had two separate days where the site was completely down (very frustrating when those are my two best days of the week to study each time), and then today the keyboard shortcuts to handle videos all stopped working, which makes programming while learning ten times harder, not worth doing and just programming without a video or using YouTube would be a better usage of my time.
I've spent over $300 on courses on the site, all on sale, but I will not be purchasing any more based on the recent decline in quality and usability for the site. I'm still going to try and finish these as quickly as possible before the site disintegrates, hopefully I have enough time. Why I gave 2 stars instead of 1: The actual course content and teachers on Udemy are 10/10 and NOT the problem. It's the site itself, and what seems to me to clearly be management deciding to cut costs and reduce the availability of the website.

A student of mine suggested I upload my course to Udemy, to try and increase reach. It seemed ok, I looked around, and it seemed I should expect 50-60% of the fee. Fine, they do marketting, I do teaching, I like that. Or so I thought. I set up the program, looked all around, including promotions and discounts, everything looked good, put my standard $200 price tag on it. I've been building this course and running it for 7 years. $200 is what students pay, so it wasn't like I was charging more or less. Same price. I got notified a few days later I had 4 students!! Awesome! I login, and see they are giving me $14. Total. Not per student. 4 students in a $200 class, and they want to pay me $14. That is less than 2% of what I set my price at.
After reaching out, initially they tried to explain "they have promotions, they sell from 10-200 unless we opt out". As I said, I looked through promotions. That isn't where THAT promotion is. They have to explain to you how to opt-out, as they automatically opt you in. I still am waiting to hear back on how even 4x10 gets me only $14. They claimed they would look into it, but after a week of "we are busy, please wait", I explained either pay me the 50% of my full price, or remove my materials. "we are busy, please be patient". So I then just deleted them. Next day they claim I am violating their student gaurantees for pulling my material down. They still never got back to me about how 4 sales of my $200 class, only get me $14. I did message every student who signed up, explaining how Udemy was trying to rip me off. I didn't want the students to be hurt, but I have a feeling Udemy blocked that message to the students.
DO NOT BUY COURSES FROM THEM!! They rip off the creators, giving them peanuts, and expecting us to be happy with it. DO NOT CREATE COURSES ON THEM!! There are many other sites it seems, that do not have this reputation and history, or at least make it so you have to opt-in to these deals. UDEMY IS A SCAM!!

Udemy certainly offers a lot and quite a variety of courses. However, many courses are outdated and some instructors only communicate with you if money goes to them. I've paid for a three-part cybersecurity course and found that it was outdated, many of the resources were not available, the instructor never responded to me, and asking for a refund from Udemy was met with excuses and lies and procrastination. Then, once beyond the 30-day limit for a refund, Udemy told me I was beyond that 30 limit.
Free courses of concern was a course on blogging. I found one that was of high interest to me. I took extensive notes and decided to use the theme used in the course. Afterwards, contacting the company selling this theme told me it had been deprecated. Back to Udemy and no place to put a review on this. While in Udemy I found the course was not all that old. If the theme was deprecated, then a disclaimer at the outset of the course should have been presented with that information. The author is on this company's website. Contacting the author and I was conveniently ignored. So, I purchased a theme from a different company.
I filter courses offered to English; however, many courses may be in English, but presented by someone with such a thick accent (southeast Asia is most common) that one cannot understand them speaking VERY FAST. Again, there are a lot of good courses on Udemy. Just be aware that the courses may be outdated, contain erroneous information (it may be an author's bias), and unless there is money involved you may not hear anything from the author. My days of purchasing any courses from Udemy are long gone! I stick with the free courses and keep an open mind on material presented. Maybe I can use some of that information; maybe not. A free course may only mean wasting your time, not your money.

I bought a course and few days later found the course is on sale. So I requested for a refund, explaining the sale price issue. So customer support will either refund me the full money or send me an email to confirm if I am ok with a price adjustment. Instead of doing that they considered my case as Partial Refund for their convenience and issued me partial refund. I emailed them that I am expecting a full refund and then their customer care started playing with words that my initial reason made her THOUGHT I am asking for a price adjustment hence a partial refund. Anyway, later she confirmed that she has initiated a full refund and would get the money in 5-10 business days. I waited 15 days and no money was refunded, for which I had to reach their customer support again and had to go through the whole thing one more time.
This time she informed that the refund was issued but it was stuck on her side (maybe they were expecting that I will forget and when I get back to them after a certain period of time, they will deny me the refund). Finally, I got informed after 15 days that I have to wait more 5-10 business days in order to get the full money back. I am in doubt whether I will receive the money or not but surely it was a horrible experience. They have zero knowledge about customer support (A.K.A customer harassment) and what makes it worse is they try to push sale. I have never expected such experience from UDEMY, because I have purchased many course from them. No more UDEMY purchase from me and would suggest others to look for other places.
