Hi there, I took classes back in 2010. I signed up for this at the wrong time in my life. I was having marital problems, seeking attention, money issues, lack of self esteem, was in duress and having mental issues. They were so eager to sign me up which I did online. I remember him, (I cannot remember his name) he did tell me I had 3 days to cancel if I changed my mind. He knew nothing about me personally. So I wished I would of cancelled. I do have diploma. My grade was not all that great to me, I was not happy with it. But they cram you with work, sometimes my work would not go through. I also felt it was not in a classroom, like hands on work. So that disappointed me even more. I feel like I have not learned anything from this school. I know it is my fault, but now I am in debt and living in poverty level. So right now I am trying to get out of this debt. Help!!

I have attended CTU since May 2019, and from the very start I have had superb experiences. My admissions advisor and success coach were great. Lauren, my success coach, has continually been helpful and timely in her responses whenever I reach out to her. She has helped me with every question, concern, and request I have made since I've started.
My first financial advisor wasn't as helpful, and it seemed as though she had an attitude and that I was a burden whenever I would reach out. They subsequently, not due to any complaints from me, changed my financial advisor. I have had much better interactions with my new FA, which I believe is a head position because I've only been able to speak with her through messages. Even though I haven't spoke with her directly, every time I call the financial department I get help from one of the very considerate advisors. There is one FA, I can't recall his name, but from the tone of his voice it sounds like he is ** man (which I am as well and this doesn't matter, I'm just being descriptive) that has helped me on multiple occasions and explained things in a very comprehensive manner. He went above and beyond the call of duty and is a great financial advisor. I wish I could have him as my main advisor.
The professors have been great, and I have been able to reach out to them and receive informative responses in timely manners. The speed of the courses is very effective, and I have learned a great deal in the past six months. I've only had one issue with a microeconomics professor, who I felt wasn't a great fit for me.
While attending CTU, I have remained on the President's List, maintaining a 4.0 GPA, and have spoke on my desired outcome. I'm a 33-year-old business owner, pursuing my BSBA with concentrations in Accounting and Finance, and my aim isn't just to get straight A's and graduate Summa Cum Laude. The diploma (or piece of paper as I call it) isn't my main focus because I'm not going to go to work for any one else. I'm an entrepreneur, and the knowledge I need to help ensure the continued growth and success of my current and future companies, is what I'm truly after. CTU has done great at delivering the knowledge I'm looking to attain.
In conclusion, I have seen many bad reviews on here which have me slightly alerted, but I haven't had those experiences and being the extremely hardworking, passionate, persistent person I am, I have been able to maneuver through any hiccups while attending CTU. I can't wait to graduate from CTU with my Bachelor's degree, and likely continue on to gain my MBA as well. Student ID: **

I came here to read reviews and because I have experienced good universities, I decided to drop out. You can't drop out on your own, you have to call or email an official. I emailed, never got a response back. And then my academic advisor, Bran ** called me and I told him I was dropping out. He was incredibly nasty and manipulative to me. Scathing, even. He told me he'd spent all this time on me and been nothing but professional and basically that I was a fool for letting reviews help me come to a conclusion about the school. I'll restate something: You can't drop out on your own. I've gone to two previous colleges, Centralia Community College and the University of Washington. Both allowed you to drop out of courses online so you wouldn't be charged. This college is different and it's for the worst.

The best thing about attending CTU is that they don't try to cram immoral trashy liberal idealisms down our throats and they've shown time and time again support for our troops. If you're interested in attending a college without the typical left-leaning ** - CTU may be a learning institution for you.

I enrolled last Thursday. Did orientation Monday and then they had a class Tuesday, which I did part of. I ended up reading up on CTU online a few days later and I am so glad I did. All week I have been telling Ortiz my admissions person that I no longer wanted to be enrolled in this college, wrote the school, even did online chatting. Tell me why she's been beating around the bush all week and still hasn't done it. They act like they will help you with anything until you have something like this happen. Then they don't want to help you, don't answer your emails, have people say they aren't in their office etc.... I am here to warn others "DON'T GO TO CTU ONLINE".

I attended CTU out of being withdraw from my last school nearly related to it, AIU (American Inter-Continental University) and while it had started off good, a very nice Admissions Counselor by the name of Patrice ** got me into the school's system and I had been doing great with my classes. I came across Math and flunked it with flying colors, but never failed it, it's mysterious to me, how I got withdrawn from AIU within six months of returning and then within a short four months later get withdrawn from CTU, right behind it. I know that it's spiritual, someone in my family is dating someone who jinxes people, she may have, had a hand in me doing so badly, but what I do know is that mainly CTU was picking up where I AIU left off, that is misleading me.
I could've thrown everything I love at home, on the floor, but I didn't. I just though a fourth school, my email is attached that I once attended University of Phoenix, American Inter-Continental University, Columbia College Chicago and now Colorado Tech University. It's funny, because CTU won't accept my high school diploma for their Computer Science Program, I won't accept their offer to return to their school anymore, that's karma for you. These schools trick you into thinking that they want you, then when you don't fit their agenda, they kick you to the curve. Well, I won't be pushed around anymore, so I've decided to get into "Waste Management." This year, I will be working for "Fat Tony." I'm the only and last applicant he will accept, so please don't beg and don't whine, you lost your chance to be alongside me. CTU is a good school for other students, but not for me. To each his own.

I have been a student at CTU using the online classes for over three years. When I first signed up, I had a great advisor who seemed to be very helpful. My success coach was okay but I could tell there would be communication issues. I immediately knew there would be a problem with Financial Aid because they were constantly sending me emails and losing my paperwork. I was speaking to someone different all the time. Fast forward a year or so and I ended up having to leave school due to a divorce. I was berated by student accounts about the past due balance and so on and so forth. 3-5 phone calls a day and emails. I finally called and requested that they only send emails because the phone calls were becoming harassment.
I was able to explain my situation to someone in the accounts department and he told me that I could start making payments once my program was finished. He advised me the calls would continue but that was the plan. I continued to receive calls and emails, I continued to explain myself. I was told when I was blocked from classes finally to continue signing these payment agreements because it was just to allow me into classes but our earlier agreement still stands. This has been going on for over a year now.
Suddenly today, 9/27/19, I receive an urgent email from a student accounts manager who says I need to speak with them immediately. I explained myself to him again and let him know that he could pull all the calls and my notes to see what was agreed upon. He stated in a response email that he did not see anything about it and all he saw was the signed payment agreements. I could not believe it. I forwarded as many dated emails as I could to him where I was explaining myself over and over. No response but an out of office email with two alternate people to talk to. Called both of them multiple times - no answer. Just ridiculous.
If I can’t go to school because of my situation then just let me know. Don’t wait until I am 4-5 classes away from completing my bachelors. I already told them I can’t get loans because my ex destroyed my credit, I’m at my aggregate limit for financial aid, and I am living paycheck to paycheck now that I am at one income. All I want is to finish this degree but the student accounts department makes you feel like you don’t matter, they don’t care, and they just want you to pay whatever they tell you to. Love the classes but stay away unless you have all the money for your program upfront.

I have been attending CTU online since April 2, 2019. I started out taking Business classes, changed to Criminal Justice concentrating on Human Resources, and then just barely changed my major for the last time to Psychology concentrating on Behaviors. I change my mind alot. CTU was very helpful with my changes, and they were prompt with everything.
As for the classes themselves- very easy to navigate the virtual classroom. The teachers are very involved with each student, personally, and have never ignored even one of my messages or concerns. My student success coach has been AWESOME as well. She has been with me every step of the way. I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews about CTU, because so far, for me, everything has been perfect. Maybe the people who have had issues have had them because they aren't doing THEIR part to make sure they have a good experience with CTU. Because CTU does their part with absolutely no problems. Sign up with CTU! You wont regret it!!!

As someone working full-time, this was a great school for me. I was lucky enough that the campus was near my job anyway. But, like anywhere else, you get out of it what you put into it. I read every assignment. I did every homework assignment. I made it a point to study and understand the topic. I took what I learned and looked for ways to apply it to my job.
Yep, it's easy enough to skate through college if that's what you want. It's also easy enough to blame everyone else for your problems. There were administrative issues. I watched my accounts and followed up immediately when something was wrong. Every issue was taken care of. There were problems with professors -- I liked some and didn't like others. Some I really didn't want to be bothered with at all. But I realize that professors run their classes, so at the end of the day, we do the class and our homework their way. It isn't a big deal - a class only lasts 3 months and then you're off to one you like. Overall, I got out of it what I put into it. And, since I was happy with what I put into it, I was happy with the result as well.

I looked to them to possibly enroll in the fall to start some classes when my life experiences currently are quite chaotic. The admissions adviser said that it's a year-round school and classes start in two weeks. I did send my unofficial transcripts after getting talked into enrolling. First of all, the website online stated they were one of the least costly colleges to enroll at $24,000. My estimate was over $50,000! I signed an application but it would not take my e signature. She told me to try all of my previous names! They ended up using my previous married name.
I talked to my admissions adviser, who uses high-pressure sales to earn her commission, in a follow up call and told her that I had decided to wait until fall to act on pursuing my education. I literally had some terrible news that I needed to take care of in my life and without empathy she said that I am overreacting and that tomorrow the situation will change. She is to follow up with me on Monday.
I thought that I would not receive any further phone calls or emails, but have been berated all day today and last night. I finally sent an email in to the Office of Admissions to formally cancel my enrollment and withdraw my application after another phone call came in. I did remove the school from my FAFSA list. I have not downloaded their app nor have I chose any classes and this is how crazed these people are to finish the process. I do not have a resolution at the moment, only just sent my email a few moments ago, I just wanted people to stay away from this school!

CTU will not release people transcripts premised on the fact and I quote, "You owe over $10,610. Yet, when I witness this call when I heard my cousin speaking to a man named RUSSELL, I almost laughed and did some research. My cousin had withdrawn from this SCAM-related school premise on family issue." As a lawyer is saying, have proof of all that is said everyone. I know she will get her 9 or 12 credits as her legal right and she can't owe the lawyer said because she did NOT attend but a few months, and did not receive ANY monies, at all, not 1 red cent.
Russell caught an attitude when she called him and or #COLORADOTECHUNIVERSITY a scam. “We have proof though, and will be ok with the law firm we have already on it." 1 attorney cites, "Extortion when they are illegally keeping transcript from you, when you're not even with the school (never receive a dime.) Posting this all over the internet, and at least the lawyer said she will get her transcripts and what they are doing is illegal and unethical. Didn't know til' now, we see at FB, Facebook, and Twitter and other sites my lord so many complaints and a class action against Colorado Tech online etc., so many complaints. This is great to see! Hoping the CLASS ACTION suit against COLORADO TECHNICAL SCAM UNIVERSITY is won..." adios.

This school is a joke and money hungry. I took 2 classes with them when I got to my third I decided to change my career path and go back to a different college where I got my last degree, so I decided to withdraw from CTU. Well I talked to a lady and she said if I withdrawn at a certain date, that I will not owe no money, so I did. The withdraw process is a joke, because it took them 3 days to process it, and then when I get completely withdrawn I get a massive bill from them saying I owe them 13,522.00. Out of every college I’ve been too and changed my Career path I have never gotten stuff like this, this school is money hungry that’s all there is to it. I reported them to the financial aid people, next is the BBB. This school is a joke and needs to be shut down. All this for wanting to change to a different school. They're a fraud.

A year in, I called financial aid to check on a stipend, as I was in a tough spot. In 7 different calls, I got 5 different answers. Later, a debt was somehow accumulated, and they called at 7 AM, 7:25 AM, 8 AM, and one lady called 3x at 6 AM, back to back. They don't update their records, they don't respect any agreement, and when I hit them with a cease and desist order, they threatened my enrollment. When I called to complain about the 3x 6 AM lady, I said a single swear word... because it was 6 am, and this had been going on for weeks, with no one taking notes or referencing my timezone. For this single swear word, I was threatened with expulsion. THEY WILL DENY ANY AND ALL WRONGDOING!
Let's move forward with Financial Aid. I was told I was on track to graduate without debt. Want to know where the 6 AM calls came from? Every few months I would check with Financial Aid, but one magical day, the answer about me graduating on time and fine changed from "You sure are!" to "Nope. You're at your aggregate limit, and you're going to go deeper into debt." When I complained, this was the ONLY CALL they could not retrieve in their records, and I was blown off by literally every department head. The Ombudsman sent me a cut-and-paste e-mail citing 3 sentences in a 50 page document that ambiguously labels them as 'no fault' (which is presently being looked into for legality and applicability... yep, we're coming boys :-). Presently, I have a Bachelor's degree that put me $100k in debt.
Next, let's move onto curricula and instructors. I tutor college students, and I have trolled no less than 9 'bird course' teachers, meaning they don't care, as long as you participate. Had one refuse to correct grades that were turned in a day late, which is still on my permanent grades (no one corrected it or regraded). When I followed up with said instructor, I was told that "... I am a part time professor, and this really needs to be forwarded to the IT department." Not joking, and I have the e-mail. In my 3rd from last class, I submitted an assignment (wrongfully) for another class and still got 95%. The best way to spot the 'bird course' instructors is when you get consistent 95% or 90% grades. It makes it seem like the professor is grading, and the comments for the grade will be ambiguous (very vague). This college is a waste of time and money, because at the rate it is going, it will be closed (already settled a class action about 'student loan forgiveness').

Since starting CTU in Aug, I got the "cheerleader" from Admissions who clearly is there to pump you up to join the school. After you are admitted, they reach out to you a few times, then suddenly, it's silent. No help. No callback, no response. The learning platform is horrible! I've taken online classes before from another school and so apparently they set the bar high. Nothing astounds me more than to be at a TECH school that has TONS of technical issues with their online platform. The Intellipath is a great learning tool, however, the questions are poorly worded, answers are wrong, the graphical portions never load forcing you to answer the questions incorrectly.
My screen was scattered so badly at one point, that it looked like scrambled alphabet soup. I had to reach out to tech support numerous times. They have YouTube links in the lessons that never load or the user removed the YouTube video. WOW! I could NEVER get financial aid on the line. I left a conglomerate amount of emails that never got answered. It's just horrible. Half the time, I had to visit Google and YouTube to actually learn the material. And I had to flag soo many incorrect answers in the Questions section for review that the Instructor had to agree and make the edit. (How's THAT for learning). This school has become a distraction and frustration more than a learning environment. I plan on withdrawing after this current class.

I was interested in getting information from the school so I stayed on the line but I felt like they were extremely aggressive. Almost predatory. I was transferred to the admissions department and they continued asking me, what I felt are personal questions. I should be asking about them. He wanted to know why I was interested in accounting, what drove me to that degree choice, why I hadn’t continued with my last school, what I have been doing since my last college classes, and on and on.
I was caught totally off guard. I don’t feel comfortable sharing personal information with complete strangers. He said he was trying to see if I was a good fit for the university and if the university was a good fit for me. Are you kidding? It’s Colorado Technical University! Back in 2010 our family was going through a crisis due to the economic meltdown, I lost my job as a bookkeeper because the school had to cut back their budget by 70,000 so they let me and a couple other people go. I had decided to look into a job that would not be so hard hit by inflation and economic stress and researched into going into medical billing and coding. I checked out a couple different online universities and was told by a CTU rep that their course would cover all aspects of medical billing and coding. When I graduated in 2012 I was hired by a Medical facility in Oregon for the medical records department (only because I had experience with electronic medical record processing).
Our family moved to Oregon for this position so when an opportunity to advance into the coding department came up I jumped on it only to find out that I would need to acquire a RHIT certification. When I applied to go through the certification process I found out that CTU was NOT accredited for that area of coding and that I would have to take another course with a local college to do so. Since our family was already in financial distress and I did not want to accrue further tuition expenses and got out of the medical office environment as it was soon clear to me that there would be no chance for further advancement within the medical records department.
So here I am 7 years later still paying for tuition that I accrued for a series of classes that were unable to procure a certified position in the area of work I had originally aimed for. Is there someone out there that has legal counsel in this type of matter that can help either lessen or completely remove any remaining tuition I have. The other situation I have is that I work for people with disabilities but because of the way HIPAA is set up they are not recognized as employers even though the government pays my wages, so I can't even qualify for dept forgiveness. I am going to be 62 this year and I still have over 20,000 in tuition to repay.

Some of the things that CTU has put me through - Registering me for classes that I had previously been given credit for which lead me to wasting my Post 9/11 benefits. Forcing me to take classes that I have already completed (which even use the exact same TestOut labs) for the sole purpose of monetary gain (private institution). Professors that show up late to class and take long "breaks". Professors that cannot manage their time and end up skipping long sections of course materials. This school is a complete joke. They run up your student loans. They return financial aid and tell you they made a mistake. Give you the run around all the while racking up loads of debt in your name. I finally had enough of teachers and depts not answering me for help in my classes. All I got was silence. I then withdrew and found another school and went to get my transcripts to transfer credit. Suddenly my transcripts are on hold. I owe 3k which was completely covered my financial aid which they returned to the government without my knowledge. Mind you this was after I ordered my transcripts from parchment and the new college talked to them. They are nothing but a joke retaliating but putting money you supposedly owe to block you receiving your transcripts.
I can’t get ahold of anyone to fix this issue and am scheduled to start my new college next month and CTU is giving me the runaround. I foresee I’m going to be suing this college and getting ahold of the CTU loan forgiveness suit. I refuse to be held responsible for loans that were racked by a college that kept overdrawing my financial aid in the excess of over 45k. Wouldn’t listen. They put me in the wrong degree program. When they received the loans instead of sending funds out they refunded what I had already paid but held onto the money and applied the student loan to my account. It was explained with grants and loans they have to send them out in a timely manner, I assuming that’s why they did it the way they did so they could stall sending it out.
I call when it was supposed to be sent out and get told, "Oh I see that was supposed to be sent to you, it will be two more weeks of waiting and you should have the remaining balance," in two weeks still don’t have it and am told it has to go for review. It can take 24 hours to a week to have funds in my account. Call back in 24 hours speak to another representative, he tells me he will send it to management and will call me back at the end of the day, he did not. Called back the next day get told it was sent but they may not have it reviewed (not dispersed) another two and half. That will put us at 4 weeks, ridiculous. School withdrew me from school 1 week before my last class was completed. I had spent hundreds of hours on and had an A in the class. This caused me to lose my financial aid. They did not offer any solutions. Told me my financial aid was taking too long. They sent me a bill of a couple thousand dollars. Ruined my credit. Refused to give me a letter grade for my class since I could not finish the class. They wanted to extort money from me for something not delivered. I ended up filing for Bankruptcy on 2008 and included this in the Bankruptcy. Currently, trying to sign up for another Master's Degree. CTU still wants me to extort a couple thousand from me before I get my transcripts. They are ignoring Federal Bankruptcy laws. Stay away from this school.

Last year I reported a few things to the BBB about CTU and how I would not be able to use my Subsidized Student Loan anymore after CTU. Here the breakdown, before I was forced to enroll at CTU, I chatted with some person on their site about the different programs. Well lo and behold I was enrolled into classes and was asked to sign a "payment" statement in which I didn't see the whole thing because they didn't have a link and the person said "this will help with your interests on your loans", LIE! Needless to say they used more of my loans than they were supposed to and now I don't have access to my loans for the school I am with now, which is local. I mean I've asked to have the "interest free" fee removed but they didn't and still owe $2000.
This is from the FA Department from my current school "Upon reviewing your 2018/19 financial aid award at McLennan, we have determined that based on the federal subsidized undergraduate usage limit (SULA), you have no more subsidized loan eligibility for the program in which you are enrolled." And yet CTU claims that I still access to that, ANOTHER LIE. I would love to see the loan money returned to the DoE because I did NOT get a degree, I have been fighting my loan provider over this all because CTU screwed me over. If CTU responds to me, please make sure you refund all that money you took from me (aka loans).

I enjoyed the symposium, it exceeded my expectations. If it wasn't so expensive to attend I would recommend moving back to 4 symposiums. The faculty and the students were so uplifting and the food was great. I would appreciate a writers workshop, to cover APA and citing (even though you can get all this online via doc library). I enjoyed the office hours and all the workshops. I had a great opportunity to get a better perspective on what other students are working on, some of the "potholes", challenges they are overcoming, topics, etc. Great opportunity to network and learn more. I found workshops and one-on-one office hours with the professors to be the best part of the journey. Very nice food and lodging. A few suggestions: would be nice to have a quick 15 minute information about CTU and CEC. More sessions in the supply chain, strategy, and project management areas. I recently graduated with a Bachelors in Project Management. I am giving a three-star review because I am really in the middle of the road with my experience. While I learned quite a bit from several of the classes, I almost felt like some of the instructors were at a lower educational level than the students. When I finally got to my core PM classes, the instructors dramatically improved and I felt like they were more interested in the students’ education. The whole discussion board setup has got to go, or at the very least, it needs to be completely revamped. My second-to-last class had a debate format set up for the discussion board, and that was the only time I enjoyed the DB during my degree program. It’s too repetitive and you’re forced to respond to other students’ postings and there is very little to be learned the way it is currently set up.
The Intellipath is okay, depending on the class, but I don’t understand how people can’t get an A on it every time. It’s set up so that you have all the answers right in front of you, yet people still complain about it being too difficult. The Individual Project format is good (my favorite of the three assignment deliverables), and I primarily liked it because it was all based on my own research, which made me learn more about each topic. Depending on the class, there can be quite a bit of writing each week, so each student should be prepared to set enough time aside to complete their work. Again, people still seem to complain about the workload, but I don’t understand why they can’t get it all done.
There seems to be a lot of complaining from students about not having the time to dedicate each week, but if I can work 40 hours a week and still deal with a wife and 4 kids and other life issues (I had surgery during one of my classes and still completed everything on time), then I don’t think there’s a reason that anyone can’t get their work done on time too. From my experience, the ones who complain and fall behind are the ones who aren’t dedicated enough to their success, but they’ll blame everything and everyone else but themselves. The student success coach system they have is a joke and I don’t even know why they have it in the first place. They are nonexistent and I never received a response from mine at all. I never had the need to use them, but I feel like they should at least be more “visible”.
I almost regret telling them I was former military, because I wasn’t using any military funds to pay for school, and yet they still had me working with the military financial aid section. They seemed to want to focus on my military background and I made it clear I didn’t want that, but they still persisted. They should try to listen more to student and what they are wanting instead of trying to tell the student what they think they want.
Graduating with a high GPA is not that hard here. The system is set up so that it’s easy to pass and get your degree. I took two classes at a time and I didn’t have any issues with timeliness or anything else. The school seems to take anyone who applies and that’s because they are a for-profit institute, but there needs to be more of a screening process of students because it is really hard being in a class and doing a (college level) discussion board assignment with people who can’t tell the difference between “then” and “than”, or “to” and “too”, or “lesson” and “lessen”.
I get that people will make mistakes. My posts weren’t always perfect, but there seems to be a lot of people in programs that they shouldn’t be in, yet the school just wants the money. I’m not trying to sound like a know-it-all, but I would say about 25% of the people in each of my classes wouldn’t have passed the admissions process in another school. It's best not to focus on that aspect, though, and just focus on your own work. It can just be frustrating sometimes.
At the end of the day, it’s not necessarily about the school you go to, but what you learn while you’re there. I knew a lot about project management before starting my degree program, but I still learned a lot more as a result, and it made me better professionally. While there are a lot of things I would like to see changed at this school, my experience was made good by me and how I approached my learning. I feel that this is how everyone should approach this process and stop blaming the school for their failures. I was pretty vocal throughout my degree program about what I disliked, but overall, I can’t complain because I got a degree and I’m a better professional than I was when I started the program.
My advice… If you are thinking of attending CTU, be prepared for ups and downs with each class. The experience is what you make of it. You may feel like you’re smarter than some of your teachers (I know I did), but there’s no reason you can’t complete your degree unless you are your own obstacle… Just my thoughts.

I enrolled as an online student in January 2017 and didn't feel like I was getting the most out of the experience so I enrolled at the Colorado Springs campus. I figured I would be able to maximize my GI Bill benefits by doing so. At first things were great but I have had trouble getting disbursements in a timely manner. I left work to attend classes in person and my family and I depend on those disbursements to cover living expenses. I have had to call and change payment dates for bills and make payment arrangements with utility company and landlords because I don't know when or if my disbursements will be in my checking account. The inconsistency in the billing department is ridiculous. Sometimes I get a disbursement in 3 days, sometimes I get it in 6 days, sometimes I get it in 20 days. I'm shocked that this is allowed to happen.
I have to check my student email every day hoping that they will get it together and have my disbursement ready for me to use. I've called the VA to see why the payments are coming to the school on time and their response was that the school, CTU, is not billing them on a scheduled basis. How and why not? You have until the 2nd week of the course to drop it or pay the full tuition price. Why isn't the school billing the VA on that schedule? I've had a $40.87 credit since 4/11/18 and as of today 5/22/18 have not seen any attempt to give that disbursement to me. The amount is insignificant but the processing period is not. Financial Aid advisers tell you they have 14 days to process your disbursement but I've never gotten clarification if it is 14 days total or if it is 14 business days.
I am seriously considering withdrawing from this school for creating this financial hardship. Reading all of these reviews has lead me to believe that no one is being held accountable for this. I also read that there is a class action lawsuit against CTU and I am very interested in finding out more. Good luck financially to all those who enroll in the future. Professors are great but the billing department needs a major overhaul.

The details of each assignment are communicated clear and concise with real-time response to any issue involving the session.
The Live Chats are fun and creatively filled with study methods to help students prepare for the week ahead to help in the completion of any task assigned. The IntelliPath environment is great for study guides and methods for completing nodes, but the Discussion Boards are my favorite. The DB's allow for student and Instructor interactions that can rival Brick and Mortar classes. FRAUD. Colorado Technical University is an accredited for-profit college with both online courses and physical locations in CO, offering Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. Their parent company, Career Education Corp., has recently paid out $10M in a settlement concerning allegations of falsified job placement practices, and deceiving students about accreditation. 'Technical' problems while enjoying a wealth of students from around the country.
Colorado Technical University has also come under nationwide scrutiny for a series of complaints, lawsuits, and fraud reports that include alleged incidents of the following: Refusal of access to transcripts, fabricated charges in excess of $4k, with no available contact for recourse or appeal. Deception with regard to career potentials and job placement programs. Circular bureaucratic transfer being used to deter students from resolving false charges. Students receiving poor or no customer service. Failed promises of guidance from an advisor. Deceptive recruiting tactics, misrepresent of job placement rates and have high rates of student loan default and student withdrawal. Student debts being sold to multiple collection agencies. Abuse of US veterans and VA loan programs. Predatory sales practices.
As a recruitment mill, they signed up just about anyone off the streets? I fell victim to their fraud scam, as they lured me into a contract and debt... I never graduate from high school, so they even lied on the application as well just to get the money from "Department Of Education"! These fraudulent online college degree are straight bogus? For the same price of well established university, Colorado Technical University online sells you a high school level education, and when you realized you have been scammed, they neglect and ignore all of your contacts and requests. Not even a college transcript for whatever credits you did earned, by the way the credits are not even transferable to a local junior college!

I just wanted to share the great experience that I had with technical support today with CTU. I was having issues logging into the student portal and downloading the student MS Office package. I called in and a gentleman named Melvin helped me get everything taken care of. From resetting the password to troubleshooting my browser, he thoroughly and patiently walked me through the problem and the solution. He then helped me set up my MS Office and now I am ready to start school with CTU. By far the best experience I have ever had with any technical support and this experience helps me look forward to working with the university in the future.

I currently owe CTU over $4000 because they added a check for tuition reimbursement from my employer twice on my account when there was only one check. After this entry mistake they processed pell grants and disbursed 2 refunds and sent me to collections saying that I owe them. When I called to make payment arrangements I was told they need a $483 down payment and then it would be a nearly $400 monthly payment!!! They were not willing to work with me on this. I am a single parent and this was the school's mistake. Are you kidding me? Not to mention both people I spoke to were extremely rude.

I did not like the weak curriculum courses that mainly consisted of posting to a discussion board so I decided to go to a real university. The first 5-10 calls about going back didn't bother me too much I just told them I am going to a different school. Know I receive at least 2-3 calls a day from one of their call centers from different numbers so no matter how many numbers I block they just keep calling even after I said to stop. Will never recommend this low standard and harassing program.

I said okay. Then they open student portal for me. The funds are available and they say, "Oh sorry. Not enough funds." No problem and again few months later again I said okay one more time lol. Like always I tell them, "Don't have funds to complete school." This be my third time lol, this time financial office say do this do that, OMG lol, third is a charm. I am so tired of looking at bad reviews given to CTU. If you look at those reviews, it really shows WHY they gave bad reviews. It has NOTHING to do with the school. It has to do with students that do not put work into their own future. The programs is wonderful. You have no books to purchase, the instructors are very understanding and helpful, and it's reasonably priced compared to other schools. The RN to BSN program was easy to complete. There was no need to register for the classes you need. The school took care of it from day #1. I had tried to register with other schools, including my hometown college without any help from the advisers, only to become frustrated, which ultimately made me decide to put off my schooling. BOTTOM LINE: If you are thinking of furthering your career, please consider CTU. You will not be disappointed.

The IT and programming courses offered seemed promising, but once I got through the classes, I discovered they were too easy and too many of my seemingly clueless fellow students were passing their classes. I was putting in a lot more effort and had a lot more experience in the fields of study than my fellow students, and I know this based on our team-oriented tasks and the many times they would contact me before they even contacted the professor simply because I would respond faster. Almost every single teacher was an adjunct professor in my classes, and the "live chats" were little more than PowerPoints and lectures.
Few teachers offered to discuss anything on the topics they teach outside of what was covered in the PowerPoint slides. One exception, however, was my math teacher, who was surprisingly educational and very motivational. I think CTU needs to invest more money into making their IT courses modern and with-the-times. The coursework needs to be more challenging, and the professors need to be more knowledgeable about my fields of study. Fifty thousand dollars of debt should get me a lot closer to my career's entry level job than this CTU program ever did.
Why are half my classes in pseudocode? Why can't my professors install a simple local server to try my PHP-powered websites instead of requiring me to manually copy HTML code from one page to the next? Why can't the professors teach a language that's actually used in my work, like PHP or C#? Why not offer the students a greater wealth of resources to make sure they have jobs during school? Some skills you may find useful after exiting the BSIT program: Microsoft Word formatting, citations and similar writing/typing tasks; Math. Outside of that, most of the coursework is very outdated and useless. Most of the program was very dull and uninteresting. I wish I could have spent the loan money on starting a business instead. Wink wink.

My experience with CTU has been a roller coaster ride from day one. I first started my attempts to become a student in June of 2017. I applied, did my financial aid, and submitted my transcripts. I wanted to finish my master's degree and CTU had the right program. I liked the length of time it would take to complete it and the cost was reasonable. The first bad experience was with the Academic Advisor who I quickly realized must receive a commission from each student he gets started. The class that I was to take first had already started by the time I had everything completed but he was rushing me to hurry up and post a discussion board so that I could be counted for class attendance. However, I hadn’t received an award for financial aid yet and wasn’t even sure whether I would be given enough to pay for all of my tuition. Plus, I wanted the same chance everyone else received.
I had no clue of what was going on and I don’t like to be rushed so I didn’t do it. I had decided to wait until the next class to start but that wasn’t good enough. A few days later I received a call from the advisor asking why I didn’t turn the assignment in. Upon trying to explain my position I was cut off and the advisor became very rude and irate to the point where I had to hang up the call. He then made multiple attempt to call back until I had to block the number. A few days later I received an email saying that I had been withdrawn from the school per my request, I had done no such thing. About another month later I received an email stating that my transcripts had been evaluated for the bachelor's program and that I need 90 credit hours to complete my degree. I already have a bachelor's degree and had applied for the master's program.
A few weeks later I was contacted by another advisor who was very kind and understanding. Because of Jinny **, I decided to give CTU another chance. It started off great. I completed two classes and got A's. I like the format and speed at which the classes move and was beginning to really feel optimistic about my choice. All was well until I realized that several of the classes that I was scheduled to take were classes that I was supposed to be given the option to choose but was never given. When I inquired about this, I was told that I should have been given the choice but that I couldn’t make any changes until June which I still don’t understand and fear that I was just given an answer as pacification because come June when I make another attempt I will then be told the same thing.
The handbook states that I have a choice but no one else seemed to know that and if it was true, why was it never given to me. I take issue with paying for things that I have no decision in. The last and final straw came today upon receiving an email from my instructor informing me that I will be placed in a group for an assignment. I specifically asked in the very first conversation I ever had with anyone at CTU was there any group work as THAT would have been a deal breaker and I was told no! The extent that those representing CTU will go to “make the sell” is astounding! Finding information is difficult and I’ve read numerous reviews from others who have experienced the same.
Education is too expensive and way too valuable to be mishandled in this way. I refuse to spend money with organizations that operate unethically and when you lie or withhold the truth to further your cause, you are unethical. This will be my last class here at CTU and I will continue my search for an institution that I can be a part of and that I can graduate from and be proud of.

I have received both my associates and bachelors (business) from CTU. I am currently earning my masters (all in business). There are both pros and cons about this school. The program is amazing! It is real-life scenario based and can be easily applied to the real world. However, on the downside - the financial aid department is HORRIBLE. They are poorly trained and they are great at assuming (you know what they say when you assume). After my associates degree, I found they cannot be trusted. They ALWAYS refund too much and then put your account on hold (literally the next day after they send you the stipend).
My suggestion is if you receive a refund - DO NOT spend it. While it can be tempting (unless you are a millionaire), make sure you they do not populate a balance before paying bills or going on a shopping spree. If you do (have a balance) - pay it or if you spend some of it (the stipend) make payment arrangements immediately. There is no use in calling them when it happens - they are CLUELESS. With all the money we pay them, I would think they would put more money into training one of the most important departments (could just be me).
Why did I stay? Once I figured out the financial aid portion, the program is great! If you attend now and your problem is the financial aid - learn the system yourself and manage your own funds (We can't expect them to do their job... right??). Additionally, I feel more comfortable handling/monitoring my own financial aid anyway - do not leave thousands of dollars in the hands of untrained employees. If you are planning on attending CTU - if you are responsible and good at time management (or willing to learn), you will do just fine. Attendance to the live chats are not mandatory, make sure you submit at least one assignment a week (to avoid them calling you and emailing every five minutes), submit assignments early if you can.
They have a early access period - this is a great time to get an idea of what your assignment will be (you can't actually submit), use this time to knock some of those assignments out early (do them and save them in a folder on your desktop), this way by week 4 you are done and have a week to kick your feet up (before the next session starts). TAKE THE FAST TRACKS - however, keep in mind, they are NOT transferable and DO NOT go towards your GPA (in other words don't stress about getting an A, just pass the thing) - if you plan on staying then go for it (they save hella time).
Example: I have only been at the school since 2014 and will be done with my Masters in 2018 - but I also did a lot of overloading. If you are considering changing schools or just want to "try it out" - DO NOT take the fast tracks. They mean nothing to other schools. They need some upgrading (technology wise) but they are working on it. Every session they are adding something new. Another downfall is they only have one graduation per year which is ridiculous. They should have one in winter and one in summer. They do not have a large turnout for their graduations (in other words most people just graduate virtually) because if they have to wait for over a year to walk - it's pointless. Sorry that this is one long run on sentence, but I hope it is helpful for someone. They have a virtual library - yea just use Google.
Career services - meh (they are helpful with formatting resume's not much more). Alumni - not many perks, a small discount here and there but that's it. Reminders: Financial Aid SUCKS - manage your own funding (You would not give 50,000 dollars to a 5 years old and tell them not to mess up your money, would you? Same concept here). DO NOT spend your stipend (Side note: if you get anything larger than 1500 there is a problem). Do assignments early. Keep pushing - hang in there no matter where you go to school. If I think of anything else, I will write another post.

CTU makes you beg for your refund. This time was the worst. I received my VA deposit on December 12 in my CTU account. Being a father of 4, I had depended on it for Christmas. When I called on the 23rd, they informed they had until the 26th to release it. They are holding it to make money, but my family needed it for Christmas! They still haven't released It! I went here because they claimed to be military friendly, work with people who work, and cared about their students. One professor failed me at the last minute because two assignments were late. Been trying to get a serious problem resolved that continues to plague my son's account balance. A few semesters back, we had a serious overage in funds available through Stafford and Parent Plus loans, and they refunded $3300 back to the government and then charged it to my son's account. I keep asking for someone to explain to me how you send money back to the government as not needed, but place it as a charge to his balance that he owes. This is flat out robbery and I plan to contact the Attorney General in my state.
In fact, this refund to the government and charge to his account has happened twice. How do you refund money we never used back to the government from the loans, and then say my son owes the money to your school? If he needed the money, then it should have been applied to the account, not refunded back. What kind of accounting is this? I've been trying to get answers for over a year and nothing... They never call me when I ask them to, and they keep trying to call my son, which I have asked them to call me directly.

I am tired of begging for funds from Colorado Technical University Online, especially, since my coursework in each of my courses are completed up to unit 3, with 2 out of 2 assignments graded with A's and B+. They need to Post My Funds, or, I promise I will walk away from this institution, that I just graduated from with my Associates in June of 2017, and no more work in any of these course will be completed until you do. I am tired of being harassed and my funds being released on Fridays, so that you give the bank the opportunity to make money off my federal funds under my social security number due to the bank CTU ONLINE OWNS DO NOT PROCESS OR BETTER YET DIRECT DEPOSIT FUNDS THAT BELONG TO YOU ON FRIDAY, Saturday, or Sunday, but they do make money off your low income federal funds in my name.
Now, I do have parents with Ph.D.’s so they must understand I will contact the corporate offices of this institution, as well provide them with proof of everything I am saying and that you have said, because all of my calls with them from the beginning of our business relationship has been recorded and I will be taking their school code off my FASFA, so that they will no longer have access.
I am tired of begging for funds that belong to me, now, this morning I will be contacting the federal government about it all, because for one, I really do not understand why students must go through a bank they basically own, that holds our federal funds and makes $8 dollars off every dollar of mine and other low income students federal school funds, and I am going to expose them because we should be able to have our funds go straight into our own bank accounts, not one that they have business partnered with to obtain more funds off our federal low income FASFA grants and unsub and sub loans in my name, that I am responsible for paying back.
Now I did research and found a educational institution CSU, that actually charges $112 a course hours and they direct deposit credit balances that belong to the student, directly into an bank account of their choice, not being wrapped up in some type of mafia situation where our federal funds are being held hostage, and money made off of it, first with this educational institution then the same thing is done by the bank YOU OWN. VIBE BANK. SO, my parents have contacted the government in regards to everything I have just discussed and we are also in contact with local and international media outlets, like MSNBC, CNN, etc. to expose this institution, because if they and their bank is doing this to me, with your BEST PRACTICES, then they are operating this way with a number of others and that's unacceptable. Thank you & I hope you have a very nice day!

In August of 2015, I enrolled with Colorado Technical University and just recently graduated to be hit with fees that were applied to my account because financial advisors at CTU either did not fully evaluate my income to award appropriately, during FSFA considerations, or this was a bait and switch to get me to continue my education through CTU. However, in 2015, I completed the FSFA documents and application process as instructed using my 2014 tax return and was awarded $2,039.59 for the school term from August 16, 2015 – May 10, 2016.
In 2014, I was employed at AT&T making an annual income of nearly $61,000 a year + bonuses, yet I was still able to qualify for the awarded amount. Additionally, the financial aid department awarded $2,362.07 from May 15, 2016 – February 9, 2017, using the tax return of 2015, and they awarded $2,745.01 from February 14, 2017 – November 9, 2017. Since then they have changed these amounts in their system; however, I still have the original documents, and thank goodness for that because then I would sound crazy. I do want to take this opportunity to also notate that I am a veteran of the United States Air Force and I used the Post 911 GI Bill for school, so technically I did not need grant money.
However, the financial advisor insisted on it since it was extra income and I did not want to take on any student loans. That sounded appealing since in July of 2015 I resigned from AT&T due to health concerns, which were identified as being service connected later, and I thought that would be good to have some extra income to take care of things at home and for my six year old (at the time). I had no issues with financial aid until I got close to graduation, and CTU claims that there was an audit by the DOE, yet during the audit they only considered my 2014 tax returns and not my 2015-2016 returns, which showed a significant loss of income and now they are telling me I owe $911.66 for either a mistake they made.
I escalated this inquiry to their lead Curtis (Curt) **, who assured me that I would need to submit an appeal and he ensured me that we could get it done before I was done with my final two classes. As nice as he is, I feel he just shuffled me off in the end, because we first began this appeal process in July and we’re just getting a “final answer” from the financial advisors today (October 2, 2017) that the appeal has been denied. Curt has taken weeks to keep me updated and I’m usually the one reaching out to him. The first delay he indicated that the Department of Education was having a hard time accepting their school code, which last 2-3 weeks before it was resolved.
Once that “problem” was resolved he asked for me to provide my disability compensation that I receive from the VA, which was fishy because none of the FSFA applications ask for disability compensation. However, I provided my annual income and disability to be told today that there was not a significant income loss when I make nearly half of what I was making at AT&T minus bonuses. There is so much more to this story but I feel myself getting too exhausted to dive into it any more than I have to already, but I will say this looking back on my communications with CTU, Curt ** was one of the financial advisors I spoke to in August of 2015, when I first enrolled.
I feel the school has taken advantage of me, and if they have done this to one of this country’s veterans then it has happened to others as well. I feel that CTU should dissolve the $911.66 out of their own budgets since it was their error in the first place. Furthermore, I feel the Department of Veteran Affairs should remove this school from supported online schools that they will fund in the future.
Hi Kenneth, we saw your review on Facebook as well, and are sorry to hear your frustration around this situation. We're currently attempting to reach out to you to try to help, and hope we can help with some of these issues.

I have to say I was truly happy with my experience at CTU for the most part! I was working on my 4-year degree but started out obtaining an associate degree first. I was recommended by my adviser and it was a great ideal. After completing my associate degree, I continued working on my 4-year degree in Business Administration (Project Management). I also had a major change in my employment working in the biotech industry that required 75-80 travel within the USA. The way CTU online is structured I was able to join classes and do my homework while sitting in hotel rooms which was a big help. I was obtaining financial aid/loan which help a lot.
As I was nearing the last year of my degree program, I was allowed to continue taking courses but was never notified of any issue with my FAFSA. I needed to update my FAFSA and I had to obtain my tax transcripts. To make a long story short, once my FAFSA was completed I was told the coursed I took I did not have any funding and I received a tuition bill for $9,000 and the school withdraw me due to the balance owe. I do not understand why this was not caught well in advance that would have given me the opportunity to correct the issue early on. Now I'm stuck, unable to complete my degree and no way to continue unless I paid off the $9,000.
While this was occurring, I lost my job (due to layoffs) and was out of work for 4 years and unable to obtain my degree that would have been a big help in obtaining a job in the same field. I made multiple to request for help and even write a letter to the dean explaining the issues and my situation but never even got an acknowledgment of any kind. I was only asking for a little help or for them to meet me halfway so I could pay off the balance that would let me continue my degree. I understand I should have been on top of this issues but I did not of the issues how could I've have fixed the problem before it got out of hand. I would highly recommend CTU for someone who works fulltime or who is on the road traveling a lot. But, you must stay on top of your financial aid and student loan because you cannot depend on CTU advisers/financial aid department to keep you out of trouble.

I am from small town Louisiana, I began my journey with CTU in October 2015, at the age of 46. On September 20, 2017 I submitted my last assignment in earning my BSBA-Project Management. Each one of us encounters obstacles that make us wonder if this additional burden is worth it. Well for me it was. I encountered the obstacles, after relocating to Georgia from Louisiana my mother's health became an issue for months. At a time I had to come home to help with her health care. I found myself using my schoolwork as a way to get away from the mental stress of my mother's health issues by focusing on my class assignments. It helped me stay positive and has taught me that I can accomplish anything I set my mind to. I am very pleased with my experience at CTU.

CTU was the biggest mistake I have ever made. The so called teachers are to say the least heartless. I was on the Dean's list while going to this school, and during the winter of 2008 I had an unfortunate death in the family which prevented me from my assignment. I emailed my teacher and informed them that I would still turn in the paper even though I had a lot going on, to which they responded that if I didn't have it there on time don't turn it in, because it now cut into their vacation. I have been hounded non stop by the financial aide office for withdrawing from my classes. At the time of enrollment, my mother was active duty military and I was on the G.I. Bill.
Had I known what I know now I would have NEVER signed up for this scam school. I was talked into getting a loan on top of my Pell Grant and help from FASFA. I NEVER received my refund from this school and was told when I called that it had been sent back to the lender. Funny because, how do you send money earned for school back to lender without it being a loan? Had I been in the State I would have gone in personally, but since I am in Virginia that made this experience 10 times worse. I would NEVER recommend this school, faculty or staff. This school is a scam and a lawsuit should be brought against them.
Hi Shanell, we're sorry for the tragedy in your family. We are trying to reach out to you to discuss your concerns on financial aid, and will attempt to contact you via email as well to try to help.

I want to say that I recommend CTU online classes to family and friends all the time. I also stress for them to get their education early and not wait years as I did. If I had it to do again CTU online would still be the institution for me to attend.
Updated review: Sept. 15, 2017
The complaint I have and message that consumers should be informed of, particularly students wishing to receive their education via online from Colorado Technical University (CTU), is that for the most part they can expect diversity as involving culture parallel of quality instructors. For the most part, that has been my experience. Aspiring matriculating students should also be aware of the urgent need for working independently in order to acquire the level of learning essential to proper success. Although there will probably be some instructors who appear not to be as efficient and caring as others, the general situation is that counselors/academic coaches will be available to assist where possible.
Now as concerning finances CTU is somewhat expensive; it is not a nonprofit. This is not to suggest that nonprofit educational institutions are not to be trusted. One must decide for himself the type that best suits his specific desires and needs. Nevertheless, there is nothing quite as important as being prepared, which brings me to the conclusion.
If a student is on a tight budget such as that circumstances require immediate access to financial aid pertinent to disbursement of refunds, the designated allowable 14-day period may be more of a window to escape the wait than for some more student-centered, colleges. Even so, this may not in every instance occur. Just realize that after students tuition and fees have been paid and additional funds are remaining for the creation of an eligible stipend one should relax and pray (for 14 days to pass quickly; just call the creditors and hopefully they will grant mercy).
So pray hard, while preparing for a delay in case patience happens to be among one's short-leashed virtues. For maintaining a mindset of hope alone can help in establishing an individual's character. On a personal note, CTU is not the problem. Certain persons in positions of authority at times will seem to have lost their way, but this could be the case at any organization. This may be why a certain flexibly dynamic type, whose propensity for managing problems is strong, would likely be the kind of student better suited to answer the call to attend CTU.
Why? The answer lies within elements of focus attributive of environments in need of balance, which is reportedly why many CTU students and alumni enjoy the challenge. What an amalgamation of ideas and mix of interests! Well, if you were looking for a put-down of this university, I am afraid this is the best put-down that I can offer; because it is as the old adage relates: What a person makes of a situation is usually what he gets [gains].

While I appreciate times what my school has done, what is fair is ethical, I cannot excuse the idea of deceptive practices of which I am aware. Allow me to give a recent event that leads me to disclose this review. After a CTU Financial Aid administrator had told me via phone that a request for the other half of my funds had been made on the 5th of the month [September], after a few days of there being no reflection of said information my student account, I called again and was told that the school is still waiting on the Department of Education to send the funds. The representative also said that it could take up to two weeks, depending on how soon the Dept. of Education responds.
Shortly after, I contacted the Dept. of Education. A certain representative informed me to call and ask to speak to a Financial Aid Advisor, because they (the Dept. of Education) sent the funds all at one time; it is the school that divides it up over separate disbursements. I was also informed by the Department of Education that as a student, I could request to receive these funds all at once, which I had filled out forms to do so, though this has never occurred in the time I have been a CTU student (a while now, considering that I am completing the master's program in less than 2 weeks).
Also, it is not for me only that I issue this complaint; I realize that other students are being given false information as well, and I would like for something to be done to ensure that this practice ends. I value my education and I’m appreciative of all efforts made in facilitating my educational tenure at CTU. However, it is not in the best interests of students to knowingly allow wrongs to be committed and to thereafter to pretend that nothing has transpired.

This school is a scam! One of my instructors states my OV score was too high and gave me an F. I knew I didn't copy it from anywhere but she told me to contact Tech which I did. They said it was just an error and they sent her an email along with student advising. She did not respond in the time she was required. The school informed me they dropped the ball and they would fix it, they didn't. I had to take the class again but the teacher kept giving me Fs because she was upset I filed a complaint so I had to take it for a 3rd time even though I had never received any bad grades in any other classes.
My papers went before an academic review board and they sided with the instructor just so they can take more money from me. I graduated but am now told I owe $4000. I've been reading these reviews and it looks that they do this to a lot of people. The instructors are not professional and the school acts like they care but they don't. The only way to handle it is to talk to the BBB, Higher Board of Education and maybe even legal if they do not respond to my emails I have sent. This school needs to be held responsible for trying to scam their students.

My name is Charlene **. CTU has change my life in two ways, one I am a ** 55 year old student who lives in one of the largest Public Housing in Richmond Va., who stop believing that attaining a higher education was possible. After attending CTU and getting my Associate and now working on my Bachelor's degree I now know if you are willing to work very hard you will get to your goal of getting your degree. Yes, you have to change the way you manage your time and attitude about working on your degree. With that though in mind it leaves me to my second reason is I had to determine what is important to me that would keep me striving towards working on getting my degree. I had to stop making excuses for why my life was the way it was and realize that only person that can hinder me from getting my prize was me or other words my degree was me.
The more I started to look at my life and studying what it take to be a Project Manager I started to realize some of the same elements that it takes to be a successful Project Manager is what I need to be a productive citizen. I am using what I have learned at CTU to make better decisions for myself and my family. I truly recommend this school to students who have a mind to be the best at what they want to in the future. This school is not for college student. This college is for students who know the educational path that they would like to study and do not want to stay in school for years to get a degree. Yes, the school does cost more than a state school but sometimes if you was to be the best at what you want to be you may need to invest more than just the average student investing in their college education.
I am so glad attaining my prize is worth the time and the money that is needed to attend a world class education. Yes, many have tried and failed trying to get their education degree at CTU but only talking about my experience here at CTU I did get my degree and I'm using what learned and learning to attain my second degree. CTU can do it all for me to get my educational goal. I have to network with people in my field and learn from their experiences in my field. I am focus to the very end and hope if you are coming here you are too.

I have a question… Why do CTU disburse our loans and grants in increments??? I only got 200 dollars for my grants... but why. It seems as though they have found a way to cheat the student of their financial monies. No matter how you fill out the forms your disbursements will be what they want to give you. Which is very minimal most of the time. In my opinion this school is only in it for financial gain. Sad... but true.

I obtained my bachelor's degree, with a great deal of frustration with the financial aid and student accounts offices. Many times they had screwed up my financial aid and were unwilling to figure it out. They said I owed amounts and after being explained why I do not owe those amounts they told me I would be dropped and at one time not be allowed to reenroll unless I signed a payment agreement. After I signed one, they increased the amount due twice without even discussing it with me. I called many times and argued the matter only to be basically told they were right and I was wrong and I had to pay without any further consideration.
I asked to speak to a supervisor in student accounts and even though it was really not their problem, they fixed it after months of being screwed up. I paid off the balance and my payment agreements still showed I owed money. They insisted I owed money. I again asked to speak with a supervisor and they conferences in someone else and they finally got my account to zero. Setting all that aside I decided to do continue on with my masters. I was doing well about 1/3 through with my masters program with a 4.0 GPA and then got into a class with an instructor that barely spoke English. He was from China.
I had no issues until he changed the due dates of my assignments with an announcement stating that all of our assignments that were due on Tuesday and Wednesday of the following week... this was on Friday, would be due Monday since we had the weekend to work on them. I emailed and told him that I do not have weekends and cannot get my assignments done any earlier than originally posted by the university. He responded and basically said I was lazy and waiting until the last minute. I explained that I work 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off and when I'm on I work 7 days a week, 12.5 hours a day and I spend time each night working on my upcoming assignments. He continued to argue and I turned to student affairs. They failed to respond at all.
So After 4 days I emailed the school and told them to drop me immediately. A couple days later the instructor emailed and said there was a misunderstanding and it was okay now if I turn in assignments as scheduled. He said the deadline was already past but he would be okay with them being late since he now knew I was going to withdraw and he wouldn't receive payment for my attendance. I told him I am withdrawing as I knew that I would be scrutinized with every assignment and watch my GPA plummet. I was not willing to put up with the lack of support from student affairs and the drama of this teacher any further. He had no right to judge me on my study habits or make the rude comments on me being lazy. I don't think working 90 hours a weeks while attending college would be consideration for a lazy person. Not to mention raising three daughters and caring for my wife and live in mother-in law.
In any case, a few months later, I was contacted by CTU student accounts telling me I owed them $800 for this course I was in for a week. A course that was never taught because of their instructor changing the curriculum due dates. Due dates I could not have possibly met with my schedule. Most instructors are very understanding but some of them are not. This one was not. After 5 years at CTU, with an associates and bachelor's degrees from CTU, I sure as hell don't deserve to be treated this way. I am considering going back to finish but will not do so unless they remove these bogus charges for a class I was not in.
CTU is only in it for the money, and as a business major I can appreciate that. However they need to learn from their own courses in finance and total quality management and start putting the customer, aka the student, first. I see many poor reviews and complaints about their school. They should start listening to their students and take the time to properly track and manage their finances. After all, they teach accounting and and very bad at it. They teach customer service and are terrible at it. They even require you to take an orientation and a university 101 course where they tell you to schedule your assignments around the course, which apparently this instructor didn't agree with. As we have the instructor, who barely speaks English, changing the due dates, and then telling me, the customer and student, that I'm lazy.
Before you enroll in CTU, consider another school. There are a lot of headaches and they are one of the most expensive schools and seriously have no understanding for your life and could care less. The individual instructors may show some consideration, as I have made some good friends with many of them. Some, not so much. Don't expect anything to go well with financial aid or student accounts. They cannot handle anything beyond basic input. If it goes outside of this, they will do nothing to help you. They do not tell you about the $150 graduation fee which gives you your actual degree. I was a little put off by that.
I'm not saying that you shouldn't enroll, I'm just saying you should expect crappy service outside the classroom and sometimes within and other institutions will probably be cheaper for the same level of education. I might also add that they offer experimental programs such as Intellipath that they unleash onto the students that is untested and was extremely crappy in the beginning. They have fixed many of the bugs, but at the cost of the students grades.
It wasn't about knowing the material, it was about knowing how to answer, in many cases, word for word typing of paragraphs. The only way to learn the answer was to guess and fail the first time around and getting the missed answers and achieving an improved score the 2nd or 3rd time through the questions. And then I should also tell you that CTU will occasionally raise the cost of tuition in the middle of your degree program and there is nothing you can do but either pay the higher costs or drop out.

I attended CTU-Online for 2+ years to obtain my Bachelors in Criminal Justice. I found many of the Criminal Justice classes to be very informative and allowed you to learn all aspects of the Criminal Justice system. I liked that many of the assignments had very structured standards but also allowed for you to choose your own topics to write about. For example, if we had to write about the legalities of Search and Seizure and the 4th Amendment, we were allowed to choose our own case laws and how it backs up our thoughts instead of being told which case-laws we had to learn about. This allows a more valuable approach because after many semesters you begin to learn many of the case-laws surrounding the different amendments.
I had my bump in the roads, and some professors had different standards in regards to the writing procedures than others, but in the end if you pay attention, do your assignments on time, and actually give 100% you’ll end up fine in the end. I also found the classes to be very helpful for the classes that were a bit tough. You can have Q&A's in there and you can learn a lot from the professors with real-world experience. I graduated Cum Laude, all while I attended this university while serving in the military, going through a police academy and in the end working full time as a Peace Officer. These courses have already helped me in the world of law enforcement and the understanding of the structure of the laws we enforce. Overall I thought this university was good and was better than the 2 previous colleges I had attended. I learned a lot throughout these courses and would recommend them to friends.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with CTU. We wish you all our best on your future endeavors.

I decided attended CTU online about a year and a half ago because I was a new mother to newborn twins and figured online schooling may be easier. During my last session, my babies were constantly sick and trying to juggle doctor's visits and school work had just become overwhelming so I made the decision to withdraw. During the withdrawal process, I questioned the rep several times about if I would owe anything to the school for withdrawing early. I was repeatedly assured that I wouldn't because financial aid had covered the part of the session I have completed. Fast forward a year and a half and now I cannot order my transcripts because I have a balance that I was assured would not exist.
So I am pretty aggravated with the fact that if I want to further my education, I have to pay this school all of this money that I do not have being a single mother of 3. And there's nothing that can be done about it because the rep failed to inform me that if I withdrew, there would be a possibility of my financial aid being retracted, leaving the responsibility of the balance to me. This is completely ridiculous and I am very upset at the fact that I was not informed of all possible outcomes. Had I known then, I wouldn't have withdrew and would have just tried to tough out the remainder of the session. Now they're contacting me daily to re-enter their school. I would never.

I just graduated with high honors from Colorado Technical University with an Associate of Science degree in Health Administration Services. My student advisor was real helpful in signing me up for college, when I was feeling a bit anxious. You see I am 58 years young and my last school time was in 2004. My goal (listed in a chat with the admissions advisor) was to learn Billing and Coding, along with the other classes I was to receive. My ultimate goal was to learn Billing and Coding to PAY for my associate degree loans and earn a bachelor of science degree in Health Administrative Services and PAY for that degree, while sitting at home doing Billing and Coding.
Thanks to the prevarications inferred during my interview for signing up for university, I felt that CTU was a good fit for me, as I could study open book (my memory is not the best!), learn at my own time (CTU has a specific schedule for turning in work and attending lectures). One thing I noticed was that they were all about Socialistic classes (I had 2) and they are a Liberal college, which grated against my last nerve! Another thing I noticed was that there were NO Billing and Coding classes listed. I had a "smattering" of physiology and anatomy, and some classes were insurance and how a Dr's office might schedule or be ran, but NOTHING about Billing and Coding. I thought "maybe my certification class," my last class before graduation would have it, but NO it didn't!
And the fact that they require a fee for $150 to graduate now was not revealed to me until the last, along with the extra $433.xx I now owe them, to obtain my transcripts really makes me angry! Oh and don't leave out the extra $150 of my own dollars I am going to be required to fork out, just to get my certificate in Certified Medical Administrative Assistant that may or may not land me a job in a doctor's office or clinic; maybe even a hospital as an Admin. Now I am $25,000 in debt with student loans, I owe CTU for God knows what, I don't have the education that I signed up for, even though I earned a 3.99 GPA AND I do not feel I have the tools to even sign up to be an admin in healthcare! If you are looking for an online university, don't choose this one! Choose one wisely, but not this one! Pissed off with a ** AS in Texas!

I enrolled into CTU back in 2014, I had did research and like most do I weighed the pros the cons along with my needs and made the decision to give CTU a try, I regret that decision, and this is why. When I enrolled I spoke with a nice young woman named Aricelli. She was in admissions, she was not pushy, very helpful during the whole process. I am well aware that the enrollment counselors are usually measured on the students that enroll so I can see why they try and sell the benefits of their institution. When working with admissions and asking my questions everything sounded wonderful. I was told I would have full support that the instructors worked very hard along with many other things that would sound appealing to a prospective student. I went ahead and enrolled and for the first couple years I was doing very well for myself.
In February of 2016 that is when I started to experience hardships. I had lost my job in February which was a huge problem since I am the main income source of my family. Though I have no children I still take care of my older mother who is not in the best health and unable to work and my half sister who is autistic and only 15. Despite this setback I still kept going and worked with my instructors. I sent emails to them letting them know that I had some hardships going on, and though they were not very helpful I was not able to drop the course and I did not want to since I was in the middle I continued to do what I was able to do.
Two months later in April I had a near fatal auto accident from a small semi truck that hit me. I was fortunate to have survived. Unfortunately I was not able to contact the school for obvious reasons. Since the accident and being in and out of the hospital along with surgeries. I still worked with my instructors, with some that helped me, but most did not and did not show any concern or respect for the fact that I did care enough about my investment in education and with CTU.
As of March 2016 I finally just became frustrated and probably spent more time calling CTU than I ever had because I had learned that I was on a warning for my performance, I explained my situation and the issues I was experiencing and the lack of help I was receiving and at this point I was frustrated and just felt that no one cared and just wanted my money. I was finally told about taking a leave which I really did need to get my affairs in order since I had struggled so the past year. I took the leave and was told that I had to return the upcoming session and complete 9 credits successfully. I was fine with this and felt it was reasonable and doable.
Upon my return I learned that I had progressed to probation and I had no prior knowledge of this. This is where I really became upset because I also learned I had to submit an appeal to remain a student with CTU. I submitted my appeal and I wrote it to the best of my ability and knowledge and received the determination today that it was denied because the board did not feel that I made changes to be successful, when I learned this I was crushed. My problem with CTU and this process is that I did reach out for help, I reached out to my instructors and coach when they were available, I continued to try despite my hardships in my courses. CTU is a for profit institution and the perception I have is that they do not have my best interest in mind. This is obvious. I realize not all schools are like this and I was hoping CTU was one of them but they are like most, out to make money.
What is worse is that someone else who never spoke with me, know anything about me is deciding what I have or have not done to improve my performance is unbelievable. I do not know many students who would after a fatal car accident still keep trying to go to school, express to their doctor about school and how important it is to me to the point that my treatment plan was done so that I am actually able to continue to go to school. I don't see many students spending money to get special desks and equipment that my health insurance does not cover so that I can continue to go to school yet rest and heal from surgery. During my leave I had made arrangements to get help so I can have focus time for school because I really want to succeed but that has now been taken away from me based on an appeal board who denied me that opportunity.
Lastly, what is worse is CTU did not give me all the tools I needed to succeed because had I known my options or was aware I could have made changes way beforehand. I spoke to a coach when I received my appeal and though he had empathy I felt like I was being blamed. Life happens and CTU made me believe that they would help and it all was nothing but a big lie. I have had a lot of inconsistency, when I reached out for help all the options were not given to me, and not once did anyone bother to help guide me after my accident. The intervention is the bare minimal and yes I know I failed 12 credits however, I cannot wrap my head around how someone despite all the obstacles that have been thrown my way and how I have reached out for help with little to none given who wants to be successful be denied that opportunity.
If I knew that my withdrawal was based purely on my doing then my dismissal would be rightfully justified, in this case that is far from true. So in the end, CTU once again failed another student, took their money and moved on. For me I am left with nothing to show for, I've been judged based on a letter which can not even come close to expressing the hardship I went through and show my determination. I am several thousand dollars in debt and have been lied to and made a fool of. I'm hurt and very disrespected and for the close friends I did recommend who are also having issues and considering leaving will be doing so and the word CTU will never come out of my mouth again as far as recommending to get an education, I would truly recommend to think hard and look at all options before coming to CTU.

When I had enrolled I was dealing with health issues. I let the student advisor know this as well as the instructor. With the exception of two of them I got no understanding. No chance to make up. Even got put on probation. The new students advisors advice, "Well if you don't feel like you can meet the requirements...don't appeal." Just very uncaring and not professional and poor access to resources to do the assignments. The Intellipath I like the best though.
Hi there - we regret that you've felt unsupported through your health issues. I am getting ready to graduate from Colorado Technical University with a Associate degree. I wish I would of looked them up on ConsumerAffairs and on College Mill Police before registering. They charge a whole lot of money and you're paying student loans back the rest of your life. In 2015, CTUO (Colorado Technical University Online) started charging a technical fee of $125.00 every couple of courses. Every online student is charged this. If you stop and think about it, that is a whole lot of money CTU receives for a technical fee. Is that really necessary?
I have had trouble with receiving my financial aid Pell Grant money. It can sit there posted for over 2 weeks like it did me at Christmas (2016). No one wanted to help me or explain to me why. One answer I received was, "Since it is such a large amount and there are so many students to receive money they ran out of money and we're waiting on more to be submitted from the gov".
I have read other consumer complaints that worry me. One man said he ran out of his financial aid help in the middle of getting his Bachelor degree which I want to go on to do after getting my Associate degree in August of 2017. Now, I am looking into other colleges because of his complaint. I am worried though that a lot of my credits will not transfer. I read a lot of complaints on graduates were not getting hired because they graduated from CTU. That now worries me.
I have spoken to knowledgeable, professional, well-educated people about CTUO and was told I would be paying my student loans back for the rest of my life if I was to go on with getting my Bachelor's degree. I am now researching other colleges to go on to get my Bachelor degree. So, people research online colleges first before signing your life away.
Sorry to hear you are concerned about the value of your degree and the experience you have had. You bring up a number of issues and I am happy to address each of them.
- The technical fee is necessary, and not uncommon at universities, to cover much of the technology that is provided to you. CTU is proud to provide a mobile app so that you can access your classes on the go, a virtual campus with learning libraries, online tutoring among other technology related aspects.
- Our financial aid team releases stipends in accordance with rules provided by the Department of Education. The rumor you heard regarding the reason for the delay in your stipend is untrue. While it may not have been released within the time frame you preferred, it was released within the appropriate time frame required. You also mention concerns about your loan amounts. The best way to reduce the amount you owe is to only borrow what you need for your education. If you are taking stipends regularly your balance will increase and it will take you longer to pay back because you have increased your balance. Our financial aid team is available to discuss your concerns, and I will ask a representative to get in touch with you to discuss.
And finally - We care about our students and their experiences with us. We attempt to address all students concerns and find that while concerns are addressed and resolutions are made, many people do not update their reviews to reflect the changes. In addition, while our reviews in some places are not overwhelming positive, we ask that you also look at places such as Facebook where the majority of our students leave reviews, which is over 800 reviews. In addition, we do have many successful graduates. We like to share some of their successes on our Facebook page and welcome you to take a look.
I hope you find this information helpful and that you consider CTU for your bachelors. I see that you are in regular contact with your success coach and ask that you speak to her further about your concerns as you make decisions regarding your future education. Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns.

I have been attending CTU since 2015 and I am set to have BA in Criminal Justice Human Services in December. I have had many experiences here at the school. I was bullied out of the Criminal Justice Club and was never told that the students' actions were inappropriate or anything and actually the BULLY now runs the club. I told instructors about a student asking me to copy my papers and they did nothing to correct the problem and this student is still attending even though she cheats and uses other people's work. I went to the department chair asking for help to choose a degree because I wanted to be a Chemical Dependency Counselor and I was told to take the Human Service degree. And that was all the information that was given to me. Well I found out through an instructor that the degree was not good enough and I also had to go through many years of certification to get my CAC license.
When I found a training center to work on my CAC I found out that the human service degree doesn't count that I would have to petition the board to get them to accept it. Then they do not offer master levels of the classes that they have bachelor degrees in. I take the same amount of classes every quarter and the stipend I receive is always different and now all of a sudden I am getting 4 different returns and no one knows why or has an explanation. They better not be pulling more money without notifying me and using up all of loans/grants. I will be transferring to another college for my MA.

I completed a BS degree in Software Engineering at CTU. Five years later I graduated from an Ivy League institution (Harvard) with an MA degree. I then returned to CTU for a Doctorate in Computer Science. I was self-pay throughout, and never had any type of financial aid issue. In fact, when I ran into some financial challenges along the way, CTU worked out a payment plan to keep me in school.
I am quite surprised when I see some of the negative reviews regarding tuition, loans, etc. All I can say is I think that some people fail to take charge of their education. While it might not be true of all of the complaints I've seen here, I can say from personal experience that I saw a number of students at both CTU and Harvard that were chronic complainers. These people expected to be catered to like they were helpless children. Later they were shocked when their lack of communication, skipped classes, late assignments, and general poor scholarship resulted in failing grades. You get out of it what you put into it, people! I have no regrets or complaints about the quality of the education. In fact, quite a few of my doctoral professors at CTU were of the same caliber as my professors at Harvard.

I attended CTU online twice, stupid move on my part. I was enrolled for Cj with a minor in Human services. The first time I attended the school I had to drop out because of "lack of funds". Couldn't understand that considering I hadn't used anything for loans due to being a military spouse. The second time (after I paid the school off) I was told that I would be sent my diploma in the mail, along with the transcripts I was requesting within two weeks of graduation... here I sit 2 years later with nothing. I have called the school and get the same run around each time... I have not completed my classes. I owe the school money, and funny they can't find me in the system but yet I STILL get emails asking me to return.
I never got my loans from my last semester of school and then come to find out that I have THOUSANDS of dollars in student loans that I did NOT take out because I was no longer enrolled because I thought I had completed all of my classes and was being issued a diploma. The last time I was able to look at anything online I should have graduated with a 3.68 but I have nothing to show for it except MAJOR student loans!!

I am a 2x graduate of Colorado Technical University. I completed my Associates back in 2010. The classes vary. You have some difficult and you have some which are fairly easy. You get out of the programs what you put into it. So please don't expect to register for classes and never crack open a book and turn in assignments when you want to. If you do those things your outcome will not be great. Yes, CTU is rather pricey but I knew that going into the program at the time there wasn't as many choices for online programs as we have today.
I have advanced in my current position several times. Advancement is not going to happen overnight people. A lot of companies still require experience. Since receiving my Bachelor's degree in December 2016 I went on 2 interviews and I am currently awaiting the outcome. My degree is recognized and accepted, matter of fact I had several companies tell me how professional my resume look and they also said that every claims to have a degree but no one provides a transcript any more. So sometimes you have to ask yourself what are you doing wrong and what can you do to change and get the best experience. Just remember everything isn't for everybody, but CTU is for me and I am proud to be CTU strong. I am a 36 year old mother of 3 and I did it! I received my assoc. degree in science medical coding and billing, I continue with CTU to get my bach. degree in business (science healthcare information management). My dreams were shut down by a fire to my house, a bad electrical fire. I contact the school cause I came to CTU as a disabled student and they knew it. My house on fire was devastating to me. I lost a lot, and dealing with insurance company and everyone else including the city took 10 months.
When I told CTU of my issues, it was the last day in November, they were called because I had a class I would not be attending that night. Colorado technical university gave me until the next class which was in February of the next year. I haven't even got an estimate yet, but I was kick out of school. I used online school because of my disabilities, I couldn't at the time, even had a place to live until my house was ready. I had 6-7 classes to go before I was to graduate. I did get a bill from the loans.
At one time CTU was rated highly by Forbes, one of the best school out of 50 in the United States, and they were in the top twenty's school. I enjoyed my instructors, was on the dean lists, and I was proud of myself. But when CTU had fires especially around July almost every year I attended I had to wait on classes to begin, and didn't get to walk across their stage for my associate degree because of a wildfire in Colorado. So for the unconcern of issues that happens to students sometime I give them 1 star. Never talk to my school advisor since getting my associate degree.

I attended CTU about 3 years ago. I knew something was not right when they forced me to sign papers to get student loans. I didn't need to get a loan. My Advisor told me that I head to sign it because if I didn't, I wouldn't be able to attend school as well as telling me that the paper didn't mean I would actually get a loan. It was to educate me about loans. I ended up signing the paper believing what she said. I withdrew out of school after my third semester. A few weeks later I got a letter from the student loan company saying I owe 15,000. I didn't know I had gotten a loan because I was paying for school out of pocket. So now I tried to call the school to fix it, they don't ever answer the phones, I left messages to call me back, and if I do get through, I am on hold for a ridiculous amount of time.

My first 2 classes went well but then the 3rd class went crazy. I dropped the first time then re-enrolled in it the next semester. 3 days into the class we had a paper due so I turned it in and received an F for my effort the next day. That was the first time I received less than an A in my entire college experience. When I contacted the instructor to discuss the grade he started in on how great of guy he was and when he went to school he had to work and go to school at the same time. When I asked about the grade again he said "Hey I'm just doing what the school told me to do." When I asked what that was supposed to mean he said he was just doing as he was told. So hung up and typed up my withdrawal from the class. That was 2 days before the cut-off deadline. The school decided to ignore the email until the day after the deadline and then informed me that I would have to pay for the class anyway.
I believe that what the school told him to do was flunk random students. There is no other explanation for what I saw and that does constitute fraud. How much could CTU have made by flunking random students over the years. I am not surprised but the mass of grievances piled up on this place. They used student making minimum wage to discuss this with me and I was never able to discuss this with anyone in administration. They still have an collection agency hounding me for the class I never took. I now owe $12,000 for taking 2 classes at CTU of which I received a whopping $1600. This place is absurd.

This schooI is a waste of time and money. I attended school for two years. Was running out of loans. I talked to someone in the school and was told I'd be fine and not owe the school if I quit after the class. At that time I went from owing $74 to now owing $1200 and when I called to ask why it went up, I was told I got kicked out for attendance which is not true. I was told since I owe the school I'd have to pay back $1200 before I could even sign back up. They took all my loans, charged too much for class, and none of it got me to a job just more in debt with no degree. I won't tell my enemies to join this school. I think a class action lawsuit should be started. I see I'm not the only person they did this to.

I don't know where to start! I attended Colorado Technical University back in 2011-2013. In 2013 I was forced to withdraw because I maxed out my government loans. At that point I only had two more classes to take. I tried working out a payment plan with financial aid but I was told that I had a prior balance (which I did not know anything about). I was very confused on how I accumulate a balance. No one reached out to me. I became very frustrated because no one didn't help me or advise me on what I should do. Every private student loan I applied for couldn't approve me because CTU wasn't in network. I called the school and financial aid advise me that I have to apply for a personal loan from a bank or pay out of pocket.
This year November I re-enrolled so I could complete my degree. Finally my advisor told me that I will have to take five classes because the program changed. I was upset about that but I said fine when I received my schedule I had 10 classes instead of 5 classes. When I called and questioned why? I was told that the program changed and I have to take these additional classes. Now I'm stuck in a very hard place because I still owe this balance and I can't transfer my credits out. The first week of school I was advise by financial aid that I will receive a check and I can forward the check to the school to add to my balance. The second week of school I received a phone call stating that I have to pay $1400 a month for a year in order to complete my degree.
I didn't understand why according to Kelly (financial aid rep) I maxed out all my loans and financial aid. Again, I was confused and frustrated because I asked this question about financial aid the first day I enrolled. They cancel my enrollment in the middle of my class. I regret attending this school. I will not recommend this school to anyone. I read all the reviews and the situation are very similar.

I was half way through my BSIT degree program this September 2016. I noticed that I could not access my ebooks from all of my previous classes in my bookshelf. I only had access to the current class I was in. Technical support told me they were experiencing the same thing on their end and they were escalating the situation. The issue was not resolved. In a previous year a student advisor called local police, who climbed in my mother's home, to see if I committed suicide. I told her that I was with my mother and all she had to do is call my mom to confirm.
Once again, I had to withdraw from the university because the did not uphold their contractual agreements. All of my online email accounts have been hacked. Jobs don't call back, but I just get calls asking me to got back to school. The online credits don't transfer to other universities like community college. Colorado Technical University only wants your financial aid. I withdrew with a 3.41 GPA. I just wanted to study. In the process, I exposed their intent, and that is a malicious attack on my future. I had a 4.0 at one time. I also noticed they no longer give students access to the Dean's list or Chancellor's list. Some people want their proper recognition for excelling. I need a lawyer, but cannot afford one. Colorado Technical University needs to be investigated and closed. There should be a class action lawsuit filed against CTU. #CTUscam.

There is software to check against plagiarism and I believe that the school is making strides for improving. Before you get "locked in" to paying the tuition, make sure it is the right fit for you. When calling the school to ask about the funding they advised I will receive the remaining 500.00 in September but to allow 30-45 days. The funny part about that is I purchased most of my books on Amazon for less than a dollar. Their text books were so outdated. So next the financial aid was being held from me and changing amounts all the time. Higher one would charge for other things so by the time I was able to receive my money it was next to nothing.

She is very bright but would buy anything a front door vendor is selling. I support her judgment and did not get involved as she filled their coffers for over 5 years. $67,000! The recruiters had no judgment or sound advice as to what she was doing. During the time she was enrolled we were borderline bankrupt and then bankrupt, not a pot to pee in. Somehow they got her the loans, I'm not even sure with her permission, or she even had an idea what the tab was coming to. On top of that, although she has great skills and was (SP) Summa Cum Laude, she was 58 years old.
Why were they encouraging her to take $67,000 in loans when she was a slightly overweight, senior citizen, with an MBA in the worst recession in 80 years. She won't be offended, she agrees, young-hot MBA's get jobs. So now we're retired but we cannot afford bowling or going out to dinner. I can't get loans. Our debt to income ratios suck, because of the student loans. Why would this system, the lenders-govt-online schools just hand out this money to someone who has a maybe 10% chance of repaying it? Anyone know of a support group, attorney, class action? I'm getting all her loan docs, transfers, what classes they were for etc. Thanks for your input.

But, now I see that they do hold stipends. I received a notice in my email in May and June that CTU was receiving funds from my financial aid. I figured I would get a stipend as I am single, disabled and have 3 children with no child support, VERY low income and since CTU received money in January and April, I received stipends each time, I figured one was coming after CTU received theirs. Nope. Now, I'm sitting here after receiving the SAME financial report from CTU, this month that I got in June yet my stipend is said to be $550 (normally they are $1400+). CTU's accounts have been credited with the SAME amounts as before, when my stipends were $1400+ and calling the financial aid department does not one bit of good.
They will NOT explain to you how your monies are distributed. I even Sat on hold for 35 minutes the other day listening as someone would pick the line up, push a button for a recording, put the phone back down... over and over and over again. The system had given me an estimated wait time of 7 minutes. This school is highly unprofessional and I am not understanding how it is accredited. In an accredited, respected, college the staff understands that without their students they have no jobs. WHY does the staff at CTU give vague replies? WHY do some of the professors ignore your questions or not respond to you? WHY are they so rude to the ones filling their own bank accounts?
I really wish I had a professional to explain the accounts section at CTU to me as there are many amounts listed in the ($$$), but I didn't receive anything. I have been enrolled at CTU since November of 2014 with a LOA from Oct/15-Jan/16 when my eldest and only daughter died and I have received stipends FOUR TIMES! That is IT! First two were around $800 (2014) as they had talked me into the Fast Track classes, which I did pass, but they cost me the same amounts as a full term class I guess? I don't know as they would not explain it but I got credits for taking ONE TEST. I guess CTU believes that this allows for charging a student full price for a class since they got the credits for passing the test? I don't know but the federal government needs to step up in CTU because there's some major bad going on somewhere because they say they have no staff.
They say this and that when it comes to releasing stipends yet in January my stipend came BEFORE CTU received their monies! I have the records to prove it! I actually got my stipend at the appropriate time, at the same time other colleges release them, at the start of the term, not the end. That's what these monies are applied for, to help us get through school but so far I've had to fund my own supplies, take money out of bill money to pay for paper, pens, my virus protection I feel I must have now since I am going to school online. (I am DIRT POOR, for real). I hadn't received a financial statement so it shocked me to open my emails and see that stipend. The next day I received the notice for the financial statement, so there is absolutely NO REASON for them to hold stipends. They have enough staff to get paid. They have enough staff to properly process stipends, not hold them for weeks at a time.
By the way, last stipend I waited for an entire MONTH to get. Sure did. That money gains interest, in whatever account they hold it in... it's gaining interest. I wonder just how much CTU has gained in illegally holding LOAN AMOUNTS (mine are LOANS and NOT GRANTS), for weeks or more? I confronted my student coach (the last one) about all this and I received a new student coach. That says it all and I'm all for a civil lawsuit against this school as I waited for my opportunity to come back around, in my life, to go back to school after having my babies and getting them all in school and now this? My dream is crumbling as if this school is that sneaky and corrupted then the degree I will receive won't be worth a damn dime while I'll be in debt for 10's of thousands of dollars. I keep receiving financial statements that state the SAME AMOUNTS that CTU is receiving yet this stipend will be $1000 less than the last two?
That doesn't make sense. I'm still full-time, have 3 classes this term and my GPA is a 3.88 so I feel like I am not trusted by CTU, that they hold MY MONEY (not grants, don't forget this... they are LOANS even though I am in the lowest income bracket there is in this country) because they believe I will take it and run? Drop out? Please! I can understand first year students, the FIRST term... holding them, but after that, no. I'm a grown woman with bills and children whose summer sucked again because CTU holds their mother's loan monies and also rips her off.
If anyone out there can help me, please email me at ** and put CTU HELP in the subject line please. I'm disabled and trying to get back into life and this is just knocking me down, down, down. I was depending on this stipend for school clothes and supplies, one summer activity, for my children and now it's going to be $500? I feel helpless as CTU sure will NOT answer questions or confirm where the monies are going, the amounts they receive each term (again) are the SAME yet my stipends differ? Something's up. I have added a picture of what I also sent CTU asking them to explain all this to me. If anyone has the knowledge to help me figure this out, since CTU WILL NOT... please email me. Thank you.

This is by far the worst college I have attended. First of all they are overpriced and have hidden fees that they don't originally disclose such as a $125 technology fee. Secondly if you plan on learning at this school, you need to be prepared to teach yourself. My third issue with this school is that they make you beg for your stipend. They act like they have to pay the money back instead of you. They get mad at you for calling and basically tell you that they are going to take the maximum amount of time because you called. For all of these reasons this is a terrible school which led me to the decision to withdrawal and go back to traditional college.

I attended CTU for my masters in management in 2008. I found the courses to be very beneficial to my career and goals. I especially enjoyed the online chats. They give you an opportunity to interact with your professors and classmates on a weekly basis. I decided to pursue my doctorate and enrolled in Colorado Technical University Doctor of Management program. I am in my second year and again my experience is amazing!! My professors are professionals and highly respected in their fields. I am learning so much. I love the symposiums we are required to attend. They present an opportunity to meet your faculty and staff as well as classmates. I have made many connections and formed friendships through symposium. As a learner it is important to be able to interact with others in the same situation as yourself. And I still love the weekly chats!!
I attended 2 other schools for their doctoral program and they were not a good fit for me. I remember CTU had live chats during my masters program so I inquired and was told they do offer that in their curriculum. I was disappointed and withdrew because the school was not a good fit for me. I needed access to my professors so I could ask questions and gain better understanding. Emails took to long and there were no office hours posted. The entire experience was very impersonal. I read some really negative reviews about CTU and was compelled to share my experience. I LOVE this school and have had any negative experiences since attending.

Can I sue these people for the injuries I suffered in 12-26-2015 that are now permanent? I am a vet who is in the extreme advanced stages of a terminal illness. Stress is my number one killer that lead to multiple heart failures. I have the worst case of P.A.D in medical history of the UW Medical Center in Washington state according to the University of Washington. My case way fully studied and I was deemed disabled immediately and was told I may have two years. That was in 2007.
In 2008 or 9 I cannot remember, I tried to join an online college by the name of Colorado Tech University online. During the enrollment process for criminal justice courses, I became very ill and never completed the enrollment nor did I sign any final paperwork. I then called the school and informed them I changed my mind and would not be attending. I was assured by my military liaison, and CTU staff it would not be an issue, and I would be removed from the system.
Two years later I learned this school never unenrolled me and had been defrauding the US government. Colorado Tech University used my name for over two years taking federal aid payment, or processing them at min using my name and I was not a student. I never once set foot online or off on their campus ever after I surpassingly unenrolled. This is 100 percent unacceptable and was not approved by myself. I was furious as they took well over 20,000.00 of my education fund and held it in their system. If I had tried to or enrolled elsewhere I would of learned 75 percent of my first degree funds were missing and held by Colorado Tech University.
Ok now two years went by before I finally did enroll and my health was better for a while. I signed up for medical administration. After about three months I learned the school website rather well and found all my CTU documentation. This is where I learned about the two years they took my money. I was confused why there is two accounts in my name. So began a series of calls to the school inquiring about those funds. CTU ignored my request and refused to answer me why they took that money with zero permission. This went on for weeks with no resolve. Each time these people became more and more hostile to the point it became a swearing match and screaming over the phone. The issue was never resolved.
Next I get really sick from the stress this has caused. I also forgot to mention I have PTSD in the form of provoke rage. It takes someone to set me off. I don't just go nuts without provoking from another. When I get this way it lead to heart failure. Twice during my admission I had a heart attack after fighting with CTU staff. When I called to get recovery time off and a medical refund excuse for the class not complete I was refused both times. They stole my federal aid then rebilled me again.
Then later I was put in a class where the teacher was a friend of the very same people in the aid department. This teacher immediately starts falsifying my grade and began failing me deliberately with F grades. I have never got Fs in my lifetime. I'm a straight A student. So I call the school immediately and demanded a full refund and be placed with a new teacher where all of a sudden I was getting As again for the exact same class.
I was double billed again. This situation has happened at least 6 to 7 times. Cost close to 15,000.00 in stolen federal aid. Then I learn other students lots of them were having this exact same issue with this school stealing and when students complained they were terrorized or ignored like myself. For three year I fought, screamed and cussed at these people demanding a refund back to the feds. CTU refused and took my paperwork for the funds in question offline and erased the information from the CTU system. Now there is only blank pages posted.
Next in 2015 I was placed in a class with a man as a teacher. The day before the end of our session we had one last live chat online. The entire class was asked to join. Not one student showed up out of 30 plus students. This raised a red flag. Next 15 minutes into the class there is a knock on a door where this teacher is located. It was a women who came into his class. Next thing I know the teacher vanishes into the background with this women and all I could hear on my end was what sounded like sexual noises. Now my issue is I paid for this class and it was not a class at all. In fact there were no class duties performed at all. That day I was just ripped off plain and simple.
Next I immediately called this school and filed a complaint. At this point I was enraged by what just happened as we had children around that day. I scream and cussed. Yes and I called the police in Colorado where the school is located and the F.B.I in Colorado and Florida where the teacher is located. I also called higher education department. CTU denied all allegation claiming the teacher did zero wrong. Well I have the digital recording proving otherwise.
Ok before we go on back. When I was denied time off the first time in 2012 or 2013 I can't remember my contract was clearly breached by the school multiple times that year alone. I was forced to call the highest authority. They called CTU warning them of the breach. CTU refused me time off again and this time started a all-out fight on the phone with some ** women. Again I was stressed to the point of dropping after that fight and required medical assistance. At this point the education general officer was furious and called CTU immediately. The very next day CTU gave me the time off by force of hand by the state of Colorado.
If you have ever seen any form of CTU advertising or talk to a admission advisor they will clearly tell you one can come and go as they like. I was told from day one there would never be a issue taking time off, my classes would be held and the funds returned for future use. Well let me be the first to tell you folks this. When you try to leave these people become bullies immediately. Not all of them but a select few I had personal run in with.
Ok after all of this nightmarish hell I went through I let things cool down for a while. Then CTU starts sending me emails asking me a veteran to support a wounded warrior program for future students. Wow. The gall these people have asking me a question like that. I responded immediately telling them exactly what I thought after the hell I was put through and nearly died twice from the abusive treatment I got from CTU staff. I basically told CTU's president to go screw himself and told them exactly why. This is very upsetting to me as a vet that these terrorist staff are out there promoting the wounded warrior programs. REALLY. These jerks told me to my face twice they did not give a crap about my health or my situation and if I continued I would be violated right out of school.
Right away this school sent multiple violations in a attempt to scare me into submission so I would shut up about all this crap above. I refused and again told them exactly why. After fighting with CTU staff again over missing funds, my treatment at school, CTU staff acting like terrorist and bullies my stress level hit critical on December 26th 2015. I went down from the worst heart failure yet. This time serious permanent damage was done to my heart and I nearly died. I was minutes from death and suffered heart and spinal damage. That's now irreversible and may only have 1 year if I'm lucky maybe a little longer.
I called this school again from ICU ward the next day telling ctu what happened. Again these maniacs started arguing with me and refused my time off. A fourth breach of contract. After a week of fighting they finally gave me the time off and claimed to refund my money. They did not. Instead they waited for me to recover and immediately began stalking my email and phone daily to get me to re-enroll.
I waited and decided regardless what the terrorist are doing I still have a obligation to complete my education. So I call these people and was reenrolled only to learn one week into the class these terrorist when only wanting to be paid the very day I received my aid package from the feds CTU disburses the funds so they can get paid. They kept half of 4000.00 for that session and sent me 1500 plus as stipend to my bank account. That very same day CTU robbed my bank account stealing those funds without my permission. That was my money. Not CTU's.
Then just minutes after I find out what they did I was sent a dismissal from school notice. Their reason they claim I filed a false sexual claim against the teacher. Then they claimed I made threats of health and harm against CTU staff. This is outright slander and a lie. I never threatened a single person with anything more than laws suits and federal action against the school. I warned this school multiple times they are ripping off the wrong person for the simple fact I'm a US army national guard vet with direct ties to the White House. I was ignored.
There other issues where my foul mouth toward staff they claim. Yes I am guilty of yelling. Why? They provoked all of this not I. The only thing I did was constantly complain because I'm dying and can't get around right anymore and wanted their help correcting these issues. Instead of getting the help I needed as a handicapped vet I was terrorized and labeled by the school as a troublemaker. You're damn right I am. After someone steals thousand in my name defrauding the system. This school funding is all I have other than SSI each month. These people stole my funding and left me in the street. Now I have lost my stipends I depend on to survive. What this school did was a clear violation of my civil rights. It is discrimination, fraud, possible conspiracy, bank robbery, breach of contract and a act of retaliation by this school.
After I was kicked out and robbed again by these people I began to call them again. This time enraged by what just happened. The very next day the CTU president tried to settle with me through the Ombudsman. What this moron does not realize is the fact this Ombudsman was the one that nearly killed me in December of 2015. These people to refund my bachelor's funding for 2015-2016. Well the funds they took. Then told me I would be immediately released so I could go elsewhere.
Well that great in all but there is a massive issue. CTU used up over half the fund for my previous degree when they stole thousand from me. It would be a complete waste of time transferring to a new school as I'm short about 20,000 dollars. Thank to CTU's crap and thefts I would never graduate and these people knew this the second I reenrolled. This last time they sent me a notice telling me this. Again I was furious as there is no reason why I should be short one stinking Penny if it wasn't for their staff mishandling funds in the first place and the very reason this nightmare began. I'm lost here folks and in desperate need of a attorney. This school want to settle now. I refused their offer.
I'm seeking damages for all mentioned above. Full reinstatement back into school immediately and I'm also seeking compensation for the heart failure and the permanent damage it caused to my body for life. I also seek that CTU pay back every single Penny they received over a 5 year period from the federal aid program as well as grants paid. I have no legal responsibility for any part of it. CTU pays any, and all fines imposed by the states involved to include the federal government.
I would like CTU to pay all bachelor degree cost plus a living allowance tax free paid in full to the school of my choice in addition to any settlement won. I am also asking that CTU be banned from any form of handicapped programs if it involves federal or state funding. I also demand they be banned from any wounded warrior program worldwide as a direct result of what happened to me as a vet. I would also ask all transcript be permanently release and I be immediately reenrolled back into CTU until I see fit to leave if ever. I also ask all violation be immediately removed due to the simple fact none of this would of happened in the first place if it was not for fraud against my name. They caused and provoked all these complaints.
I am sick to death. This school is allowed to operate like a wolf advertising their sheep. These people are criminals that need to be dealt with immediately by attorney and the feds. The proof is on their servers right now. I need an attorney ASAP. Please the school is offering a settlement right now. I would like them to pay your fees as well.
The state of Colorado has just been informed again of this nightmare as of 4/2016 and plan to take action right away according to the director of higher education. This school was fully aware of my medical conditions and terminal illness from the very first day of enrollment and I reminded them monthly for well over three years only to be told they don't give a crap. Really don't federal laws say otherwise for a public school?
Below are the charges I feel are appropriate for this situation and laws broken: Discrimination by business establishments, including discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, ancestry, national origin, disability, medical condition, genetic information, sexual orientation, citizenship, primary language, immigration status, and other protected classifications. Disability Access Rights, Education Rights, including Equal Access to Higher Education. Sexual Assault on College Campuses. Breach of contract, Retaliation, Slander, Theft of federal funding and possible bank robbery.
If one was to look deep into all of this you will learn in every situation where CTU claims I violated policies. They provoked every single situation that lead to the outcome of policy violation. I only complained about missing money, staff issues and time off every single time over 3 to 5 years. As a result of CTU actions I'm tens of thousands of dollars in medical debt to the state of California. I was terrorized and bullied. My money was stolen and I have permanent physical damage to my person.
I've been retaliated against and thrown out of school and now have no federal aid thanks to these jerks and may be homeless as I no longer have a way to pay rent for housing. These people deliberately destroyed my life as a result of my complaint. Now I'm forced in a position where I'll be required to pay back the loan using what very little I get from SSI and I can't even afford to eat. At this point once monthly bill are paid I have no help and no idea how I'm going to make it. I can never work again. Please help me
P.S. Several California attorneys told me I need a personal injury plaintiff attorney in Colorado Springs. I live in California but go to school in your state online for three years now. I'm a straight A student for the most part. If a attorney read this and are interested in immediately helping resolve this matter. Please call right now. The clock is ticking as of 4-5-2016.

I attended CTU for my masters and the month before graduation I applied for student loans to cover the balance on my account prior to graduation. CTU then collect my 9/11 GI Bill and the student loans. I specifically asked to use only student loans now I no longer have any 9/11 GI Bill to use. The catch here is that CTU then returned my student loans without notifying me. I'm now stuck with a balance of over $1,000 and no way to pay the amount. I was told since I graduated there is nothing they can do.
I'm utterly disgusted with this school and regret ever attending. All they have done is rip me off financially and continue to rip off other veterans and military members for their education benefits. Now I'm unable to get my transcripts until the balance is paid and left with a debt and no financial assistance. I would never recommend this school to anyone. The university should lose its accreditation and be closed down so as to prevent other veterans from getting ripped off.

Financial Aid - Yes, they work their butts off! Admissions - Yes, they work hard! Students - Well, I did. Not sure the other stuff submitted and read in class was for real. My former ground university wouldn't have been giving A's and B's on papers like those... Plus, I submitted some very unlike me, work...when I was stoned out on anti-anxiety pills. Blood pressure and dealing with that type of stress is not a good thing. They don't care if you're financially ruined, filed Chapter 7, or on mood altering moods with a doctor's recommendation you don't pursue this.
Teachers are somewhat OK...except they are given the lesson plan by the school. How I know this? I retook a class that I was two weeks into with another instructor, and guess what? Exact same work! All of the "live chats" are the same basically, and are so boring! The presentations are not original by the teachers either. If they are...then those people need to go back for their undergrad. I owe them a fortune and their billing/collections department calls me every week if I am a few days late with my payment. Colorado Technical University uses guerrilla marketing techniques to capture Veterans and exploit them for their GI Bills and the betterment of their FOR PROFIT status. Not only was I duped by a CTU recruiter, being told that my school would be absolutely free and everything would be taken, when in reality I had to use financial aid from the US government plus my GI Bill Awards in order to maintain enrollment, but now they are reporting me to credit bureaus, hindering my ability to obtain the small business loan I need for a semester of school that I never attended.
They are Veteran Blood Suckers and should be ashamed to call themselves "Military Friendly." I have talked to the admissions, accounts, records and registrars offices to no avail. I am being told NOW, I have a hold on my account from a balance due in November 2011. I called the student records department. I was told that the balance of $698.45 is from where I started, which I do not remember, the Bachelor program at CTU online from November 13 to November 27th. I am told because I logged in for 2 weeks out of the 6-week course, that I owe this money. I was told to contact the registrar's office. I called and was told the same thing, that the amount is owed from those 2 weeks in the Bachelor program. He transferred me to the supervisor of advising, for which I was told this same thing.
But after speaking with this supervisor who was not very understanding at all of my situation of being denied my transcript for my Associates degree, for which I earned and it's being held hostage, for 2 weeks of courses in a bachelor program I do not recall taking, he advised me to contact the supervisor of student accounts. So, once again, everyone I'm speaking with sending me to someone else and no one really giving me answers or trying to help me, I asked for the supervisor of student accounts. He states to me, that "I see you owe the amount for the Associates degree," not the bachelor degree for which I was told by 3 people prior to him. Now I have another different answer. After speaking with 3 different people and getting nowhere, I contacted the President of CTU. I am also sending a letter through registered mail. Also, contacting an attorney.

I have recently had a change of heart. I feel that this college could be a very good college if they would make sure that their educators are providing material that aligns with the required course material. Students are responsible for their choice in degree programs, and with mentioning that, we can all say that teachers are good to steer us in the right direction, but shouldn't be taking the place of student advisors or mentors. Teachers should reflect upon their teaching materials and skills to make sure that students are receiving them in a beneficial manner. I give this school a 4 star rating because I actually did learn from this college, and it is where I have gained a bulk of my knowledge from. My biggest complaint and nobody can ever determine when teachers go rogue but my issue is teachers who aren't consistent, especially if you have had that teacher before. The material covered for the course, problem-solving using java, was covered by a book that covered those materials but the teacher was not using the book for the course?
Writing Java stacks is relatively straight forward, just as writing pseudocode for those stacks. The teacher for this course was completely rude and condescending but we all have met professors as such. Albeit, at least, those teachers provide ample material for the students to find the solution at least. This professor literally began pulling the course from the seat of her pants. I didn't waste my time dealing with this teacher and I am also not going to blame the school for this teacher's inappropriate behavior. The only thing that I will say is that the teachers need to put in more effort to align themselves with the students and material. Students who choose a bachelor of science program, are aware that this program isn't a cakewalk, that is why it is the teacher's job to provide material that allow us to grasp the concepts of the course. I have recently transferred, and I absolutely love science. I will be graduating after one more semester. The recommendations of the teacher at CTU, told me to go into the, "Customer service field." Nope! I may not be Einstein but I know when a teacher is trying to actually teach, and in support of that, teachers as such are much appreciated in the scientific community.
My new school is 100 times more difficult than the courses at CTU and I am not looking for it any other way because I would like to be prepared for the real world. This institution needs to work on its faculty ASAP!

I wasted 2 years of my life at this school. 3.60. The advisory, financial aid, success coaches and teachers are just in it for the money. They would give a grade to make you meet their quotas. I wish I could get my hard earned veteran's benefits back from this money trap. The student success coach even says, we are like McDonald's. Wow! This speaks multitudes about the education system.

They are very misleading with the wording of their fast track eligible credits/costs. When it says you are eligible for a certain number of fast track units, that is not what you are allowed to take. Make sure of the exact classes you are allowed before enrolling.
