They scammed me on my diploma years ago. I transferred there from public school in 12th grade then whenever it was time to receive my diploma they said there was a problem with my transcript or that they never received it. Tried contacting them for weeks. Nobody responded or if they did they gave me the run around. So my entire 12th grade year didn’t count because I wasn’t enrolled properly

My daughter has dyslexia, they asked for documents that don't exist. I spoke with multiple representatives that didn't have a clue about educational services for students with an IEP. I felt they are discriminating against students with disabilities. My child is fully capable of doing the work, she just has to work harder. They intentionally are asking for documents that don't exist to prevent her from registering.

Connections Academy Lighthouse Connections Academy - Michigan. I am deeply disappointed and highly disturbed by the blatant disregard for the rights of students with disabilities at this institution. What should be a safe and inclusive environment has instead become a place where discrimination is normalized, and exclusion is routine. Despite clear protections under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, which mandates equal access to school programs and activities for students with disabilities, this school has repeatedly violated those rights. A simple reasonable accommodation request -intended to ensure equal opportunity- was not only denied but openly dismissed. As a result, all students with disabilities were openly outcasted and excluded from field trips, school events and activities, while staff are always observed away participating on their own and away from all students and parents.

This isn’t just a failure of policy—it’s a failure of humanity. The culture here fosters alienation, harassment, and dishonesty, creating an environment where students with disabilities are bullied by the staff and treated as second-class citizens. The law is clear: discrimination in any program receiving federal funds is illegal. Yet this school continues to operate comfortably in defiance of these protections. Families deserve better. Students deserve better. I urge others to speak out publicly, document these violations, and demand accountability. Discrimination should NEVER be tolerated and normalized, especially in a place meant to nurture and educate. Lawyer, Civil Rights Department, and other Federal agencies were made aware and complaints were filed immediately.

This was the worst experience I have ever had. Any if the paperwork I uploaded was acceptable. I uploaded 3 different types of “proof of residency” and none of it was good enough for them. I uploaded the attendance form which had his attendance from freshman to junior year and that wasn’t good enough. I gave up and enrolled my son somewhere else. I highly recommend not wasting your time with this “school.”

Be careful that they will tell you at the very last minute that your child did not get in, as they have met their quota, even though they had been texting, emailing, and calling you for months to finish the application. Doesn't matter that they have had your completed application for 3 weeks, as they will still deny you in the end. We have not started school but the registration has been a headache. Because I started my application in my name, proof of residence had to have my name. Only thing with my name was Internet bill and that was rejected. Then I submitted power bill and it was rejected because under husband's name. Then it was our waste bill with BOTH of our names and that was rejected. It's like the people running this academy have no common sense in putting the information together and seeing clearly that the documents show proof of residence. What a nuisance. If our last attempt doesn't go through, I'm looking for another online school. It's been a big waste of time so far!

Hi R—Thank you for sharing your concerns about the enrollment process. State guidelines require specific residency documents, and these must be in the name of a parent listed on the account. Unfortunately, Alabama does not accept internet or trash bills for this purpose. However, a power bill dated within the last 60 days with a matching address should be acceptable, as long as your husband is listed on the account. Tried to register for this school. Sent in child’s birth certificate showing both mine and my husband's name. Also sent in a current utility bill with both mine and my husband's name on it as well as my driver's license proving our residence. Since I am not on the mortgage they wanted my husband to sign a form stating that I and our child lived with him. That is absurd and I chose not to register with this school. I still receive multiple calls and emails wanting me to continue our registration. I guess so they can get their funding. I’m not having my husband sign a paper stating that we live with him when we are married, just because I am not on the mortgage. A utility bill with both names, driver licenses with stated address and birth certificate with both parents' names that match the utility bill verified the residence. So glad we didn’t register with this school after reading reviews.

Hi Leslie. I’m sorry to hear about your enrollment experience. Without your last name, I can't check your account, but I can give some insight. Residency must be in the name of a parent listed on the account. Each document type has specific requirements, and must be legible and list the address. If the item is in someone else’s name, not on the account, a Notarized Statement of Shared Domicile is needed. To review or close your application, email us at community@connectionsacademy.com. ~Bri

Connections Academy is incredibly misleading. They tell you upfront that you should expect to work 30 hours a week, but the daily assignments they give are so minimal you can easily finish them in under an hour. So why force this unrealistic “hour count” that makes no logical sense? It feels like a system built on pretending to be rigorous rather than actually being educational.

They also advertise that you can “work at your own pace,” but the second you try to do that, the system punishes you. The work starts piling up fast, and suddenly you’re drowning in overdue assignments. It’s overwhelming, and instead of real support, all you get are constant emails, texts, and calls telling you to just “power through it.” But you can’t power through something when you’re completely burnt out and have no energy left. The whole setup feels like a trap, one that makes it easy to fall behind and nearly impossible to catch up. This school does not support mental health, individual pacing, or realistic expectations. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

I have had my kids in TNCA and GACA. I like the school and appreciate this program. However I had unsatisfying experiences with both schools, with more of issues being with TNCA. When my daughter was in 11th grade she took AP Biology the teacher was hardly there, canceled class without notifying students and was very unprofessional there was nothing we could do about that but just let it be. Then we later would have to transfer as we moved to GA.

We contacted the school when moving and the administrative staff told us this would be our choice to decide on what to do whether stay or transfer. It was the middle of the year so we continued, but due to distance could not attend testing. It was at that time I contacted the school again, when all of the sudden they pretended like they were not aware that we had moved, and their rude administrator contacted us yelling in my phone and authoritative and he sounded like he didn’t care. He subsequently withdrew my kids with two weeks of school left In the year, and caused the most emotionally draining credit transfer ordeal for us. These people refused to give my daughter her credits knowing very dumb well that she was going into senior year. We had have her tested at GACA for her to get credit for classes that she took. In all I think we were targeted and they was an agenda behind it all.

My other issues were my first grader was always not allowed in class by her teacher who was always busy and gone, my do they stay gone but I bet they still getting paid. All I care for is my kid learning I really don’t care if they teacher was gone but at least it would be nice if they brought a substitute teacher. That whole experience left me upset until this day. Then we had the technical problems, children being placed on alarm for no reason. They had me scolding my child thinking she is doing something wrong when it was their fault, again they caused problems for my household. No staff professionally addressed this.

Then we got to GACA and my was the work overwhelming. They overworked my kid and the agenda continued, and we were given the run around for my kid to get her credits validated it was so ridiculous. Then came the alarms for no reason, and more drama, they didn’t care it was like they got a kick out of stressing the families out. Then came the lack of teaching CRT, and false alarms on student accounts have continued, issuing of grades for benchmarks and yet it is an ungraded assessment, not allowing children into live lessons and issuing temporary zeros even if you are not failing. To harassing us with emails about missing assessments which were already completed. Giving zeros on assignments for no reason. And more of not allowing my kid into social studies live lessons, giving her zero for work that’s completed, and teacher will sit there unbothered.

Again I feel targeted and I think the last school did this, and we have continued to experience the drama. My daughter likes her teachers but there is one who I feel intentionally is passively aggressive towards us I don’t know why. Our only guess maybe because we are an ethnic family, they like to give us more of a run around. School should be fun, stress free and teachers should the less dramatic people who cheer our kids on. They should not be allowed to be part of agendas and targeting people who have nothing to do with their agenda. I really hope this will be read and addressed.

I attended this school for 2 years. I am until next year for my sophomore year, I convinced my parents to enroll me because it was supposed to be a self paced school, not true. The school is good for Reading but that's it, the Math is only hard because they make it harder than it is supposed to be, like the Math assignments for example it takes 2-3 hours to complete a Math assignment most of the time. It was stated that each assignment takes 1h max. It is not true, all the things they say are not true. The funny thing is that even if you try your hardest in Math for 2-3 hours you don't even understand half of it. The first page of the lesson shows a YouTube video and it looks easy but once you are about to finish they shove things in the last page without any explanation on how that equation works.

They also have really bad teachers, the teachers can barely teach, I had 2 good teachers the rest were pretty much bad. This one teacher made my grade go down cause of her fault! She didn't respond to my email for 2 months on work that needed to be redone. GPA ruined! The Math is the worst. It takes so long and sometimes I have to cheat because I already spent 3 hours on the same assignment. It is actually really bad. The LiveLessons is a joke, 1 hour of pure nothingness. No learning. It's all things you could learn in 5 minutes. Language lessons are a waste of time. They expect you to speak fluent Spanish. After 2 weeks of enrolling I don't even speak Spanish either so that was a big red flag on this school too!

Overall this school ruins many lives, it is way harder teachers do not help at all and they also delete reviews on other websites. It's a all look good scheme. Don't fall or it please keep your child out of this school if you can. I guarantee you all the students cheat, I did for a while until it was high school. Your child will cheat if they are under 13, it's a make good look scheme, every kid doing 2-3h of work is cheating because all the assignments take 6-8 hours sometimes. I work at night now!

Connections Academy does not make learning easy for students. Besides being online and allowing time to make-up work, the material requires too much. Most assignments have 30 pages for children to read each. With all this technology, videos should be done for these lessons. Not in addition to. I am in undergrad and I feel like my children have more reading than I do. It’s crazy. Great concept but poor execution. I am disappointed to say the least. Traditional school was not this intense. Teachers had 1 hour and assigned reading material/homework after class if any. I have been here 3 years and will look for other options. Technology is too advanced for options to be so poor.

We chose Connections Academy for our Kindergartener because we were worried about him being mistreated in a brick and mortar school (he has severe adhd and possibly mild asd). At first it seemed like such an ideal compromise between public school and homeschool, but I have quickly realized that this is not a good fit for our family. I have a 5 year old, 3 year old and 11 month old, and when I tell you it is near impossible to be my son's learning coach and work one-on-one with him for a minimum of maybe 5 hours a day WITH a 3 year old and baby needing my attention constantly, I seriously mean it! It causes so much stress. My son loves the routine and "checklist" mentality of the work, but as a mom to 3 littles I cannot do this on my own...

I personally think the curriculum is a bit much, as if high-academia Harvard professors without any kids of their own wrote this stuff "for children". It is pretty dry and repetitive, and takes way too long to complete most days. So my husband and I are planning on pulling our son during winter break and going back to homechool for now, that way I can control better how much time we spend and what we learn and incorporate my other kids into our learning as well. Altogether I don't think I would recommend this kind of learning for big families with lots of small children. However this might work well for families with one child and a parent who can dedicate the majority of their day to teaching that child as if they were still in public school (6 hours a day, 5 days a week).

Finally as my local school was starting and I was afraid of going to jail or getting fines I could not afford, I looked it up and found many people who could help. They were shocked I was lied to and offered me immediate assistance. These people are highly unprofessional. It kept me up at night and I experienced many panic attacks. DO NOT ENROLL YOUR KIDS HERE. It's obvious they don't care about the kids. Fast forward to today, 3 weeks later, 3 days into the local school year, I get a call from them. PROBABLY wanting me to explain my entire situation AGAIN. I cannot tell you how degrading it is to repeat your name and that you're HOMELESS to the many people they transferred me to (every call I was at least transferred to 4 different people for 6 hours a day). Please do your self a favor and pay for private education or bite the bullet and put them in public school. I wouldn't refer even the darkest people to this company.

P.S. Throughout this entire process I received many emails and texts about how I hadn't given them the information I told them a million times I DIDNT HAVE.

P.SS. I also got an email that they had the Mckinney Vento Act form on their website, and I even sent and uploaded my own. Another LIE.

Hi Leslie. I am truly sorry to hear about your experience with the enrollment process. This is not, at all, the level of service we wish to provide. I don't have enough information from this review to ID your account, but if you want to email us at community@connectionsacademy.com, I'd be happy to see what's happening with your account. ~Bri

My last review was taken down for a curious reason. Likely because I was able to articulate the complex set of issues this Florida on-line school program is having. While I do not have the time or energy to again break apart some of the issues we personally had as I did in my post prior to this, I will get to the central issues of our particular experience. First, I gave 3 stars merely for the fact that it is online and there are real safety concerns about public schools system in these days. Online is a better option IMO in terms of physical safety. Otherwise, I would have only gave them 1-2 stars.

    1) Our 2nd grade child was starting to fall behind in core classes mainly math. We first noticed this in early Sept. This was brought to the attention of the teacher very early on in the school year. As soon as we noticed we attempted to get her to help us come up with an action plan. Instead, she opined that he's doing okay - averaging a C so - he's passing....When we explained that it was taking us HOURS and way too much assistance on our end to get him through each lesson - she stated that basically hes our kid and its our job. No empathy or concern from her whatsoever. Teacher seemed unbothered and never addressed our request from help. Instead, she suggested a coding club. Which doesn't make too much sense. After months of falling behind, our family finally decided it was best to hire a paid online teacher and it was only then did our child start to under stand the concepts. The issue here is this: teacher and administrative staff notified basically wrote us back and said, "it's hard being a teacher/coach isn't it". Well - no I replied. In fact, I happen to be a virtual instructor myself. The issue was that this particular teacher had reason after reason, excuse after another excuse in canceling her classes and did not do well in terms of engagement and classroom management. Maybe she was overworked and they're giving teachers too many students at once. I am not sure. Nonetheless, we do not feel our student got the attention he deserved.

    2) This same teacher did not watch some of the other students when there actually were live lessons and multiple times my student had to endure other 2nd grades cursing and saying very peculiar and scary things in the chat.

    3) Last year, we also attended the program (different teachers of course) and our student was in 1st grade however his test scoring and benchmarks were along the lines of 6th grade reading and 4th grade math. He has lost all of this now.

    4) Our son was treated with contempt after bringing this to the attention of admin. Thereafter, his "teacher" had 1 last class in the entire month of April and did not acknowledge him one time. It was weird.

This teacher is LOUD and almost appears to be under the influence of something be it anxiety meds or otherwise. She is IN YOUR face. Admin has to take notice of this and I have heard from other parents that they too have shared concerns and they have largely remained ignored. Our family is now working with an investigative response team that apparently is and has been inquiring on the Florida Connections Academy. I wont go into detail with this but they have grasped the brevity of the concerns we have had this school year and they are working to narrow the issues down as to whether these problems are systemic or originating from this one teacher or perhaps is it the Principal or a little of both. All in all - because of this 23-24 school year we can not recommend the FCA at this time. We do hope that it goes back to quality it had in years prior. We hope the issues can get ironed out.

This school is terrible. They lock Assignments so your child can not do the lessons and so I'm trying to withdraw my child from the program and I already gave them the information about him attending Time4learning and is refusing to withdraw him.

This is the worse school ever! They will lock down lessons that you can't do instead of skipping it and going on causing lessons to overload and then they kick you out of school causing a problem finding another school! Too much for student and parent to read and too much work! Uncaring and rude! Find another school! You will thank me if you do!

If you love your child, don’t subject them to the overloading of dull work this school would have you and your child give your life to! Staff can do nothing to change the workload (thought I was lied to by staff about how some classes were removed to ease up the tension, though it would’ve been a crappy solution anyway as I don't want my child to miss out on things she might need to know for testing or life) or the work itself as it's all programed by someone else. The suggestions were all common sense stuff I told them I was already doing. Connections Academy has robbed us of so much joy we could have had given more time to go out and do things, and has stressed my relationship with my child in such a way that regular school never has!

I wish I could disregard it to ensure a healthier mental state but I want her to succeed & know she has it in her to do amazing things, though this school isn’t the training that will bring it out in children so young. I chose C.A. because it was supposed to be community based & got great reviews, but the teacher only recently (once) gave the kids time to talk a little in between the reaching & math Live Lessons they have once a week, thus far. That’s all the community time we have had time for, not that there's many options for it otherwise. The teacher is also half dead in that she seems to have no energy or is not at all an animated person, which I felt should have been considered with young children. Monotone.

We're sorry we haven't been able to offer a better solution. Most families find exactly what they need with our program. However, we do understand school is not one-size-fits-all, and what works for some may not work for others. We encourage you to continue working with your teachers and administrators to hopefully find something that works for your family, but wish you the best in your academic endeavors. ~Bri

I enrolled on this school think I was going to be good but boy I was wrong. They make you work like 6 hours a week for this work and if you don't spend that much time then you will get in trouble. They make you talk to the stuff and if you don't you get in trouble too. Test and quizzes one after the other this is sure gonna help me get into college. It doesn't teach anything it's just test and quizzes and not anything important. And the worst thing. They're making me work over Thanksgiving!! Just give me a break for once. I might just drop this school and go back to my old school cause they would totally give me a whole week off of Thanksgiving break instead give me anxiety. I'm tired of this school. The Profiles don't make sense either. If I drop from here I don't care. I'm tired of being under stress and anxiety. Give me a break dude. So if you want to enroll your kid into a online school. DON'T DO THIS ONE.

Hi Astrid. I'm sorry you haven't had a good experience. Although our program is flexible, high schoolers must complete all assignments and work 6 hours a day to meet attendance and participation requirements at our public school. If you're having trouble with your assignments, we encourage you to reach out to your teachers. Your counselor can also help. If you're not being assisted in a way that works for your needs, please have your parent email us at community@connectionsacademy.com. ~Bri
