I attended this school for 2 years. I am until next year for my sophomore year, I convinced my parents to enroll me because it was supposed to be a self paced school, not true. The school is good for Reading but that's it, the Math is only hard because they make it harder than it is supposed to be, like the Math assignments for example it takes 2-3 hours to complete a Math assignment most of the time. It was stated that each assignment takes 1h max. It is not true, all the things they say are not true. The funny thing is that even if you try your hardest in Math for 2-3 hours you don't even understand half of it. The first page of the lesson shows a YouTube video and it looks easy but once you are about to finish they shove things in the last page without any explanation on how that equation works.

They also have really bad teachers, the teachers can barely teach, I had 2 good teachers the rest were pretty much bad. This one teacher made my grade go down cause of her fault! She didn't respond to my email for 2 months on work that needed to be redone. GPA ruined! The Math is the worst. It takes so long and sometimes I have to cheat because I already spent 3 hours on the same assignment. It is actually really bad. The LiveLessons is a joke, 1 hour of pure nothingness. No learning. It's all things you could learn in 5 minutes. Language lessons are a waste of time. They expect you to speak fluent Spanish. After 2 weeks of enrolling I don't even speak Spanish either so that was a big red flag on this school too!

Overall this school ruins many lives, it is way harder teachers do not help at all and they also delete reviews on other websites. It's a all look good scheme. Don't fall or it please keep your child out of this school if you can. I guarantee you all the students cheat, I did for a while until it was high school. Your child will cheat if they are under 13, it's a make good look scheme, every kid doing 2-3h of work is cheating because all the assignments take 6-8 hours sometimes. I work at night now!

This is a horrible online school. My son was discriminated and kicked out of the school and withdrawn without my consent because of his disability. They told me the school was not appropriate for my son and told me to look for another school options. This need to be shut down and need to be some loud suits and involved because they are breaking all types of rules. They overwork it with all this unnecessary schoolwork. It’s a lot of discrimination/racism going on with the school.

Connections is not a good school. While they claim they are flexible and understanding, DO NOT DARE get behind on your work because they will HOUND you and threaten truancy VERY QUICK! My kids got behind, while yes significantly, I was just diagnosed with cancer and while they SEEMED understanding, would NOT let my boys catch up because they were “so behind”. While they were only talking about my one child, they unknowingly unenrolled my younger child, who looked forward to a speech class every Thursday WITHOUT warning. I called Connections and talked to a representative online who was able to look at all of the email and did confirm that they did NOT mention my other child EVER. I recommend Astravo.org they have FLEXIBLE. Ruth ** and Ms. ** should be replaced.

Connections Academy does not make learning easy for students. Besides being online and allowing time to make-up work, the material requires too much. Most assignments have 30 pages for children to read each. With all this technology, videos should be done for these lessons. Not in addition to. I am in undergrad and I feel like my children have more reading than I do. It’s crazy. Great concept but poor execution. I am disappointed to say the least. Traditional school was not this intense. Teachers had 1 hour and assigned reading material/homework after class if any. I have been here 3 years and will look for other options. Technology is too advanced for options to be so poor.

We chose Connections Academy for our Kindergartener because we were worried about him being mistreated in a brick and mortar school (he has severe adhd and possibly mild asd). At first it seemed like such an ideal compromise between public school and homeschool, but I have quickly realized that this is not a good fit for our family. I have a 5 year old, 3 year old and 11 month old, and when I tell you it is near impossible to be my son's learning coach and work one-on-one with him for a minimum of maybe 5 hours a day WITH a 3 year old and baby needing my attention constantly, I seriously mean it! It causes so much stress. My son loves the routine and "checklist" mentality of the work, but as a mom to 3 littles I cannot do this on my own...

I personally think the curriculum is a bit much, as if high-academia Harvard professors without any kids of their own wrote this stuff "for children". It is pretty dry and repetitive, and takes way too long to complete most days. So my husband and I are planning on pulling our son during winter break and going back to homechool for now, that way I can control better how much time we spend and what we learn and incorporate my other kids into our learning as well. Altogether I don't think I would recommend this kind of learning for big families with lots of small children. However this might work well for families with one child and a parent who can dedicate the majority of their day to teaching that child as if they were still in public school (6 hours a day, 5 days a week).

My daughter went to Connections Academy from Kindergarten through the 4th grade. Her lost grade was 1 C, all the rest were A's and B's. We had a couple of family emergencies which caused us to turn in some assignments late. We started getting a paper trail telling me she had more assignments late that what she really had. Then we got into an accident and fell back a little but the assignments always got caught up and she always passed her test.

The teacher even lied about her reading test scores. So at the end of 4th grade they told me this school was a good fit for my daughter and that she could finish the school year but she can't return. I've paid so much money to this school. It wasn't right to dismiss her like that. I was always curious with her teachers even when they lied on her test results. I say plenty of students turn in some of their assignments the day before the deadline on assignments that were date stamped in our group discussions. Way later than my daughter's were turned in. It's just not right....

I fought for 3 weeks to get my kids into school. A little about my situation: we are between houses and I could not provide the residence information they want. I let them know day after day we are in a motel and I did not want to unenroll and move my kids when we move, so online seemed to be a better option. WRONG. So after a full week of calling and getting the runaround ONE single guy helped me fill out the Mckinney Vento Act. I was told I'd get a phone call from them to continue, and they'd waive the residence form. (FYI when enrolling, there is a page you can explain your situation on. This was 2 weeks ago on the dot.) Day after day I called about the status of my kids' enrollment. Many of the staff told me I could not contact the Mckinney Vento act people, they had to contact me. LIE.

Finally as my local school was starting and I was afraid of going to jail or getting fines I could not afford, I looked it up and found many people who could help. They were shocked I was lied to and offered me immediate assistance. These people are highly unprofessional. It kept me up at night and I experienced many panic attacks. DO NOT ENROLL YOUR KIDS HERE. It's obvious they don't care about the kids. Fast forward to today, 3 weeks later, 3 days into the local school year, I get a call from them. PROBABLY wanting me to explain my entire situation AGAIN. I cannot tell you how degrading it is to repeat your name and that you're HOMELESS to the many people they transferred me to (every call I was at least transferred to 4 different people for 6 hours a day). Please do your self a favor and pay for private education or bite the bullet and put them in public school. I wouldn't refer even the darkest people to this company.

P.S. Throughout this entire process I received many emails and texts about how I hadn't given them the information I told them a million times I DIDNT HAVE.

P.SS. I also got an email that they had the Mckinney Vento Act form on their website, and I even sent and uploaded my own. Another LIE.

My last review was taken down for a curious reason. Likely because I was able to articulate the complex set of issues this Florida on-line school program is having. While I do not have the time or energy to again break apart some of the issues we personally had as I did in my post prior to this, I will get to the central issues of our particular experience. First, I gave 3 stars merely for the fact that it is online and there are real safety concerns about public schools system in these days. Online is a better option IMO in terms of physical safety. Otherwise, I would have only gave them 1-2 stars.

    1) Our 2nd grade child was starting to fall behind in core classes mainly math. We first noticed this in early Sept. This was brought to the attention of the teacher very early on in the school year. As soon as we noticed we attempted to get her to help us come up with an action plan. Instead, she opined that he's doing okay - averaging a C so - he's passing....When we explained that it was taking us HOURS and way too much assistance on our end to get him through each lesson - she stated that basically hes our kid and its our job. No empathy or concern from her whatsoever. Teacher seemed unbothered and never addressed our request from help. Instead, she suggested a coding club. Which doesn't make too much sense. After months of falling behind, our family finally decided it was best to hire a paid online teacher and it was only then did our child start to under stand the concepts. The issue here is this: teacher and administrative staff notified basically wrote us back and said, "it's hard being a teacher/coach isn't it". Well - no I replied. In fact, I happen to be a virtual instructor myself. The issue was that this particular teacher had reason after reason, excuse after another excuse in canceling her classes and did not do well in terms of engagement and classroom management. Maybe she was overworked and they're giving teachers too many students at once. I am not sure. Nonetheless, we do not feel our student got the attention he deserved.

    2) This same teacher did not watch some of the other students when there actually were live lessons and multiple times my student had to endure other 2nd grades cursing and saying very peculiar and scary things in the chat.

    3) Last year, we also attended the program (different teachers of course) and our student was in 1st grade however his test scoring and benchmarks were along the lines of 6th grade reading and 4th grade math. He has lost all of this now.

    4) Our son was treated with contempt after bringing this to the attention of admin. Thereafter, his "teacher" had 1 last class in the entire month of April and did not acknowledge him one time. It was weird.

This teacher is LOUD and almost appears to be under the influence of something be it anxiety meds or otherwise. She is IN YOUR face. Admin has to take notice of this and I have heard from other parents that they too have shared concerns and they have largely remained ignored. Our family is now working with an investigative response team that apparently is and has been inquiring on the Florida Connections Academy. I wont go into detail with this but they have grasped the brevity of the concerns we have had this school year and they are working to narrow the issues down as to whether these problems are systemic or originating from this one teacher or perhaps is it the Principal or a little of both. All in all - because of this 23-24 school year we can not recommend the FCA at this time. We do hope that it goes back to quality it had in years prior. We hope the issues can get ironed out.

If you love your child, don’t subject them to the overloading of dull work this school would have you and your child give your life to! Staff can do nothing to change the workload (thought I was lied to by staff about how some classes were removed to ease up the tension, though it would’ve been a crappy solution anyway as I don't want my child to miss out on things she might need to know for testing or life) or the work itself as it's all programed by someone else. The suggestions were all common sense stuff I told them I was already doing. Connections Academy has robbed us of so much joy we could have had given more time to go out and do things, and has stressed my relationship with my child in such a way that regular school never has!

I wish I could disregard it to ensure a healthier mental state but I want her to succeed & know she has it in her to do amazing things, though this school isn’t the training that will bring it out in children so young. I chose C.A. because it was supposed to be community based & got great reviews, but the teacher only recently (once) gave the kids time to talk a little in between the reaching & math Live Lessons they have once a week, thus far. That’s all the community time we have had time for, not that there's many options for it otherwise. The teacher is also half dead in that she seems to have no energy or is not at all an animated person, which I felt should have been considered with young children. Monotone.

This was our first year "homeschooling" and we chose to go with INCA because we wanted them to still be part of an accredited public school. I never pictured us schooling from home before, but we were just no longer happy with the environment and "cookie cutter" style our in-person public school provided. Not every child is made the same, or learns the same way or at the same speed as everyone else. Issues with bullying and safety also became a concern. We were hesitant at first, but the staff and teachers put as at ease at every turn. We learned the platform quickly and my kids excelled with the program. Being able to work ahead when they knew something well and spend more time on a subject when needed gave them confidence. My kids were able to take honors classes as well, which was important for us to see them challenged in areas we knew they could be.

The flexible schedule allowed us to do more trips and activities as a family. We created our own field trips throughout the year. I love that they do not have to be on zooms all day. I love how attendance is handled. My son wants to graduate a year early and as this year ended and he was picking his Freshman classes, his counselor was amazing in guiding us to what he would have to do to make that goal happen. We are so happy with INCA and we recommend the school to anyone considering leaving the brick and mortar behind.

We did adhd/autism testing, counseling, therapy and everything else our public school suggested to fix our 'bad kid' but still he would act out at school, clearing out whole classrooms. The school threatened to hold him back for a year for behavior problems or we could transfer him out. We chose to transfer him into Connections Academy. Connections tested him, and he was 2 years behind his grade level.

    1. That first year was very hard for him and me, his learning coach. After year one with connections he was up to grade level. I am so glad we didn't give up. 2. Two years in he was getting good grades, and able to function in public situations again without trouble. 3. Three years he was top in his class and the violent outbursts were a distant memory. 4. Fourth year and he is a wonderful student, organized, self starter, loving school, and jumping out of bed every morning to tackle his school work first thing. His WPM in typing is college level. He is still in therapy working on the trauma that happens to any child when they get labeled the 'bad kid' at school. My daughter was always a shy girl. When she got to high school, it was simply put...too much. Other students were unkind. She was different and didn't fit the mold at her small town school. She had medical issues that made attendance a nightmare for me as a parent navigating between doctors, teachers and principals. She started with Connections Academy her sophomore year, after passing only one class of her second semester of freshman year at her previous school. She graduates June 1, on time, with a GPA of 3.78. Teachers have been nothing but supportive in EVERY way to her and myself.

The system is easy to navigate technically. It is NOTHING like online learning that I've heard other parents talk about from brick and mortar schools. The stress and commotion is gone, but she still has peers and she has her old group of friends. If your child is struggling and you don't feel like you're qualified to do traditional "homeschool" but don't feel like they will be successful at a traditional school, this is your shot! I can say nothing negative about our experience. Not one thing!

Making the decision to move my son to Connections Academy was extremely difficult. However, I do not regret it one bit. He went from an average or below average student to all A's & B's. He is thriving with the more individualized attention from teachers, easy communication, and fun of a more stress free environment. He has more time to do things like sports, and lessons. He has gained independence, and confidence in just the one year already.

This was our 1st year homeschooling. At first it was a rocky start for me as the learning coach, new to homeschooling my child but with the daily class check-ins & 1 on 1 check-ins regularly with my daughter's assigned teacher & all the learning coach tools available, I was able to get the hang of it. The teacher has been a tremendous help with assisting us in settling in to homeschool. My daughter has had some struggles with learning to read in school. I was worried that it would affect her learning all together. However, with the help of her teacher, we discussed my concerns about this & she was able to put her in a small reading group where she taught her some extra reading techniques & she set her up with extra online reading sites that give her activities to do to practice even more.

From the test to see her level at the start until now she has improved her reading so much within the 1st 6 months. So, I was able to see how well we were doing with homeschool. If we felt like we were struggling with a particular section of a subject, we were able to ask the teacher for assistance & she was able to send things to help or direct us to a site that we could use to learn a little better. I did read some of the other reviews and see other parents are saying they had to do the teaching & there were teachers. It is my understanding that this is a homeschool that is just done online instead. When you homeschool your child, you are the teacher. So, if you're looking more along the lines of distance learning & not homeschool this might not be what you are looking for.

This homeschool program does at least have teachers that meet with your children, get involved & are very helpful when you are struggling to teach your child & they have things to help you as well. The lessons have many tools available to walk you through teaching each assignment, so you don't have to know everything. There are a lot of quizzes but the % of each lesson with a small quiz does not weigh heavy in the overall % of the grade like the actual tests for the units. They are there to help you see if your child understands the lesson you just went through with them or if they need a little more instruction on that section. The learning on your own time is also accurate. I cannot sit down every day to teach my child on set days & times because I am a full-time working mom.

As long as we are doing the hours she is supposed to be doing & working through the assignments throughout the week there are no problems. My child has been behind on lessons a couple times but as long as we showed that we were working on them even if 1 took longer to grasp & we caught up as we were able, they don't mark her behind for that. She has not been marked as, "Not on track," once because we were doing the assignments, putting in the hours & talking through it with the teacher, who checks in to see if we're good or if she can help with anything.

I am very impressed & the only thing I am struggling with is the decision of, if I let her go back to brick & mortar school now that she has had her vaccine, like we originally planned or keep her in MNCA because learning at her own pace has given her the ability to excel better than she was with a teacher that has 29 other kids & can't always take the time to do 1 on 1 & help when she struggled. She is now wanting to stay in homeschool as well, since she has seen how well she can do with more 1 on 1 teaching. I would & have already, recommended this to others & I know of at least 1 that decided to join MNCA & is also having a great experience here.

I have nothing bad to say Connections Academy has been a great experience for my son. He has received a lot of help. He is autistic none verbal. He gets services that the County that I live in has not provided for my son. He gets speech and OT therapy. The school has been very helpful and understanding.

I have been more than happy with Connections Academy. My granddaughter struggled with bullies and anxiety in the brick-and-mortar school. She is a different kid being able to home school. It not that it is easy. It is a lot of work for both Caretaker and Student but the communication from the school and Teachers themselves is amazing. They are really invested in helping your child succeed. We will continue to online school next year and plan on staying with Connections Academy.

My seventh and ninth graders are completing their first year at CA Connections Academy and we have had a fabulous year. The curriculum challenges them enough to keep them in learning mode and their classes were selected based on their levels. Customized! The teachers are so kind and supportive, and offer excellent feedback. Learning is provided in various formats so your child can choose what works best for them. As teenagers, they can sleep in as needed, and take all the time they need to finish assignments and do a good job on them.

Once you realize you can control your day instead of an institution controlling it, there is no going back. My kids are learning to harness their own power to pursue hobbies and skills they are interested in, while earning top grades and feeling good about their education. We recommend this school for anyone who would like to take control of their life but also do it in the confines of an accredited school.

This is our second year with Connections Academy and we have been thrilled with our experience. 1. The curriculum is fantastic. Each lesson clearly guides learners through the readings, videos, audios, workbooks, activities, quizzes, and assessments each day. For myself (the Learning Coach), I have even more detailed information I can reference to learn more about what and how my student is learning. 2. The teachers are knowledgeable, helpful, prompt in responding, and really know how to get groups of kids active and engaged when they have LiveLessons.

I also love the time my student gets to spend working with the teachers one-on-one. Even though this is a virtual school, my student still feels a connection to the teachers and classmates. 3. The flexibility to spend more time on topics my student needs and tailor learning experiences is wonderful. This is definitely set-up for each individual learner to move at their pace and dive deeper into topics as needed. 4. The events students have the option to attend are very nice and it's amazing how the teachers can manage and engage hundreds of kids at a time online in one large session. Overall, we are enjoying our time with Connections Academy!

Our journey started in 2020 with the Covid Pandemic bearing down upon us as a family. Our son had a really hard time with bullying in our local public school and we were desperate to find a solution for our family. We are so happy we found Connections Academy. This is our second year and our son has decided to stay enrolled for his Junior year. He is excelling in his classes and enjoys learning this way. The teachers and staff are beyond helpful and kind. They are great teachers who try really hard to bring the lessons to life in live lessons. We have excellent communication with them and I always know where my son is at in his learning through their website. I can sit in on a Live Lesson if I want to and the lessons are accurate and are not political like the public school was. My son can set his own learning schedule and take breaks as needed. Connections Academy has been a breath of fresh air. We highly recommend them as a family.
