In 4 days trying to start my education... I have been misinformed, disregarded and played for a fool. I shared real details but I was obviously just a process. My time was wasted. I'm hurt. My grant is stuck with them. I was told I would get confirmations of the whereabouts, I still have to find a school, I'm so upset. My experience felt like a mockery for trusting. I've been crying all morning. My start date was 07/04/18. I'm really hurt. But they don't care.

My overall experiences with AIU was okay until I had a sick parent I was guardian over. This parent demanded a lot of my attention and care and I still had to work. I was his caregiver for four to two years. He died last September 2017. And I want to go back but I have a bill of about $3000 and until I pay that they won't let me re-enter. I have only 2 or 3 classes left to complete my degree. As other say, "Huge debt and no degree." How sad!

I went to this school from 2009-2012 learned absolutely nothing and never took one test in that time. Guaranteed a job in the field averaging 50k a year. In the 4 years post graduation the most I made was $16.00 an hr. Now with $45,000 in loans over my head I'm ruined with a worthless degree. You're better off in state college for way cheaper. Wish I could return the diploma.

I attended back in the beginning of 2003. Took 2 classes and dropped out before the classes were done. I was eligible for 2 loans (Sub and Unsub) and the Federal Pell Grant. I received a letter from a collection agency a few weeks ago for a balance of almost $900. I just received what they consider an itemized statement. They charged me FULL tuition of more than $4000.00 for attendance of less than 6 weeks and $340.00 for books. They kept two Pell disbursements along with my full Sub and Unsub loan. Which my student loans were paid for in full years ago.

Here we are 15 YEARS later!!! I have never been contacted by AIU or Career Education Corporation about ANY type of balance AT ANY TIME in the past. How convenient when Betsy DeVos, has effectively killed the team within the Department of Education (ED) charged with investigating for-profit colleges fraud and malfeasance. Former employees on the special team, which has now dwindled to three members, have been reassigned to different roles according to a major newspaper.

I’m currently an online student with AIU. I wish I had seen the reviews prior to enrolling. This is the second time I have had a condescending professor. The school site went down this past Tuesday 24 Apr. 18. All assignments are due by midnight Tuesday. I emailed professors and student advisor and was extended an additional day. Well once again trying to load the assignment the site kept timing out. Plus I couldn’t even find the assignment in my computer. Did not have the best week at all. I was finally able to load the assignment but to be safe I in turn emailed an attachment to the Professor (Pres111) only for the professor to send a condescending inflammatory message that it seems the only ones who experience tech issues are late or last day submissions. This was unprofessional and unnecessary. Yes I responded and expressed my concerns. The message was forwarded to my student advisor as well.

The professor in turns give me an unexplainable poor grade on my assignment. This was a direct blow for me responding to her inflammatory message. No one has the right to judge or criticize anyone especially when you don’t know their circumstances. I am only here to achieve a degree but I will not be disrespected by anyone including professors. I’m quite sure there are a few people who will join forces with me. I will be reporting this incident to the VA Dept of Education and the U.S. Dept of Education. It is becoming very clear that none of these online programs are being properly monitored or held accountable. Individuals seeking a better life and achieving their goals are being mistreated and taking advantage of. This is wrong and needs to be addressed and stopped. *Message given by professor was I missed several key elements but did not list any of them* after I addressed her inflammatory message.

My son was so excited to start school, but unfortunately the financial aid department has chosen to play keep away with his financial aid disbursements. I've contacted FAFSA and student loan.gov as well as a lawyer at the state attorney general's office and I was informed ALL monies are given to school to be disbursed within the first 30 days of enrollment. AIU has made my son's disbursement dates so far apart any stipend he would be due would be eaten up by their "additional" costs. No he did not attend college to just receive a refund, my son is very serious about his education, but he was informed when he got help filling out his FAFSA that any money left over could be used for educational purposes such as a new computer.

But to call, email or anything with the financial aid and to try and get a straight answer and not an answer that seems to be scripted or rehearsed. He then turned to his student advisor who did absolutely nothing but send him right over to the financial aid office who was not and is still not assisting him. AIU has been a big disappointment! In reviewing all correspondence my son has exchanged with the college I am now very suspicious of their financial aid department! We will be filing formal complaint papers with our local state attorney general's office as well the state attorney general's office in Illinois where AIU is located. I would advise anyone if you want an education do not attend AIU under any circumstances!!!

I love the online class. Graduated with my MBA in Healthcare Mangement. Live in MA then I found out I cannot transfer any of my credits to a MA college. No one will call me or answer my question why. After I spent thousands of dollars on my degree. I could not get my loan forgiven because I did what I was supposed to. Paid it on time. So when forgiveness time came I paid too much so I had to pay it off even though I was working in non profit field. But at least I can say I got my MBA. Most of the professors were very good teachers and understood that we worked and were coming back to school and explained things and took time to make sure we knew what we were doing. They did not give you a degree. You had to earn and work for your degree.

Recently, I began my graduate degree at AIU. My first class was about leadership. Ironically, the professor was a terrible leader. Her instructions were vague, confusing and unclear. For the final exam, we had to submit a 10-page paper. She told us what to write about, but not how to submit the work. I asked 3 times in class how to hand it in online. She ignored me and answered my email with "ask someone else." So I attached the paper as an email the night before it was due, only to be told I never submitted it. I went from an A to a C overnight, after working 5 weeks on that project.

The complaints office wouldn't help me, and my advisor is the only one who thought I could appeal. It is very unlikely. When you watch their videos about how great this will be, how much their staff cares, etc., keep in mind it is all lies. Your professor won't know your name or assist you in any way. You are just a number to them. I will be transferring if my student loans will allow.

This college is amazing because the class is hard but very enjoyable. The enrollment staff was very nice and knowledgeable. They helped me to pick my college plan based on what I want to get done. The teachers are very skilled and know what they are doing and the student advisor calls me every week to check my progress and feedback on the classes. The payments with the help of financial aid I can make it possible to attend AIU Online. I looked at many other online colleges but they didn't measure up to my ideals but AIU fit the billed.

I got a refund of $276.00 from AIU Online that amazed me because I never thought that it was possible for a college to do that. My degree is in BSIT with network administration because I love computers and when I get my degree I'm going back to AIU Online to get my Master's degree in the same field. I hope one day I will be able to teach at AIU Online as a part-time teacher in computers. I would tell everybody that this college is the best ever and they should be proud of the fact this college offers a lot of options for people to study for and get what they deserved.

There are a lot of negative reviews out there. I don't know what is going on. But, most employers don't care where you get your degree from as long as it was accredited. I was employed almost immediately after graduation, 1st from the private sector then through schools. I received my degree in visual communications and it has been a very handy and versatile degree. The courses were tough but very thorough, not an easy A by any means. Maybe depends on the teacher(s). The cost was indeed high but nowadays most good schools are. Never had any troubles with the payments or financial aid. I was not kept in the dark about anything. I thought it was a very good investment and I am still using what I learn to this day in an educational environment as well as in the private sector.

The funniest part was watching them struggle to read the sentence and then look at me for the answer right after. I am a freshman student at American Intercontinental University online. I was not informed by admissions in April 2017, that individuals who reside in Texas and have a felony would not be eligible to utilize the earned Criminal Justice/Forensic Science Bachelor's degree nor have a career in this field in Texas. I learned this when completing an essay on careers I desire within criminal justice fields in Texas. I then spoke with my student advisor to see what could be done to change degree programs within the online campus, I was told that I must fill out a new enrollment form. I am concerned.

Why do I need to fill out a new enrollment form when all of my information is in their college database, and the only thing changing in this information that American Intercontinental University has is simply the degree program??? I am a 4.0 GPA student and have been at this online college since the first week of May 2017. I believe I may be getting scammed, but I really hope there is a legitimate reason for a new enrollment form being required to change programs within the same online campus. This college has been great in every other aspect of learning, however I have heard many negative things from students while in attendance within the AIU community which is why I am concerned.

I am currently attending AIU. I started in August 2015 and I am set to graduate in December of this year. Overall, my experience has been great! However, there has been issues with the financial aid department and student accounts. They cannot get on the same page in regards to payments that need to be made. Luckily, I was able to get into contact with someone who knew what they were talking about. Not once did AIU state that they could get me a job in the career I'm pursuing.

They stated they could help me prepare and provide the necessary information I would need to help point me in the right direction. So I don't understand why so many people keep going on about how the school lied to them about getting a job. Everyone with common sense knows colleges and universities do not just give you jobs in any field. You have to work for it! I'm pretty satisfied with the school and glad I attended even though I will have to make payments on the loans, but I will be able to work in the career I've chosen because I've been putting forth the effort to make that happen instead of relying on handouts like so many others do these days.

However, my second quarter was a complete different story! The teachers wanted work done completely different, I had a very hard time figuring it out. Both semesters the teachers weren't good with communication leaving me completely in the dark and the groups for my classes were the same. Eventually in my second quarter I gave up and quit. Tell me why I owe over $11000 in loans that I can't afford to pay and are in forbearance?! This is for not even 2 quarters! From back in 2009! If anyone finds a way out of this please email me.

If you do not contact them and threaten them (which still does NOTHING) They will make your LEDGER appear to be clear and on track. However, a few days before graduation, they tack on almost $3k worth of fees for military students which leaves veterans without their degrees or transcripts. I earned a 4-year accounting degree from AIU in 2008. AIU never lined up any interviews for me. (I later realized it was because no one's interested in their graduates.) Their career assistance consisted of emailing me ads for accounting jobs that appeared in local newspapers. Many of those jobs required far more experience than a new graduate would have. My job search did not go well. I began to think that perhaps employers preferred graduates from traditional universities as opposed to those from for-profit schools like AIU. I believe that AIU has a sordid reputation, even among predatory for-profit schools, and that's why the Obama administration rightfully attempted to rein them in.

I had been working in sales at the time I was enrolled in AIU but decided I had to get a real 9 to 5 job as I wasn't making enough money. My job search started in fall of 2008. It took me until November of 2010 to find employment. Even then, the job I found was one I could have easily gotten without any post high school education. I found a job as an Accounting Assistant, not an Accountant. It was one of the lowest paying jobs in the organization. I know this for a fact since I worked in payroll. That's the value of an AIU education. It takes you forever to find a low paying job you could have gotten without going massively into debt for an inferior education.

The classes at AIU simply aren't as rigorous as they would be at other institutions. So you don't know as much as students who graduated from real colleges. You can't compete with them, and I believe that employers don't respect graduates of AIU because they know these online for-profit schools are a scam. I would recommend that all high schools and other organizations that guide young people steer them away from online for-profit schools. The emphasis is on PROFIT, not STUDENTS.

In beginning my academic endeavor to create purposeful change, a contemplation of both undesired social and financial statuses ensued. Afterwards, I knew right then my situation could and would not change or improve apart from injecting some type of academic intervention. This influenced a pivotal decision to search out educational support. Ultimately, this decision reinforced occupational career-skills, marketability and enable personal and career-goal attainment. When I enrolled at AIU (Online) the staff members from all departments engaged me with the utmost care and direction to ensure the transition process was comfortable and seamless.

AIU provided guidance with acquiring requisite enrollment information and documentation processes, avenues to fulfill financial obligations, support departments, exemplary learning materials, and additional resources that allowed me as a student to reach my fullest academic potential. Honestly, I don't know where to begin in raising societal awareness on AIU online educational benefits when regarding schedule flexibility, extensive range of learning platforms and resources, instructors' collaborative student empowerment, interactive peer learning that broaden perspectives, sufficient assignment scheduling, successive course learning to maximize material retention, etc.

AIU placed a world of knowledge at my fingertips which enable learning vast topics, concepts, theories, methodologies, strategies and best practices that enhance desired career-skills under my determined schedule. Every stage of my academic learning was streamlined by AIU staff members and superb educational resources. Furthermore, AIU produces a great overall learning experience with accomplished Instructors and Professors that optimized the process to achieving academic success and most important graduating with honors. Which in itself generated one of the most impressionable memories of my AIU experience and influenced my return in aspirations to acquire an AIU Master's Degree to further support attaining long-term goals.

American InterContinental University has literally destroyed my life. I was lured to the school in 2005 by cold calling and offering sweeteners such as " one year extensive MBA program", fast admission etc. I was also lied to about the school being accredited. Maybe in their little office where they count the money, they steal from innocent especially, newly came immigrants who don't understand the student loan programs well and could be an easy target by such scam schools. The truth is overall, neither this school is accredited nor its diploma carries any value to the companies to hire you.

The process of applying was so quick, that I was not given a chance to really review and understand what I was getting myself into. I was then told that federal loan was no sufficient to cover the education and that I had to apply for a private loan with high-interest rates if I wanted to get admitted. "An assistant" was assigned to me by the Univ. to speed up my loan applications. Anyways, the loans that were pushed have swollen to $43.000! The education was so poor and ineffective that I wasn't sure what I was exactly specializing in. In short, upon the graduation, I was never able to land a job by my major (Management) since no company cared about the diploma from #AIU. It has been 11 years!

I have contacted the University management many times and expressed my frustration with the situation they got me into but all my concerns were simply ignored. I had many arguments with Sallie Mae which is another abusive company along with its partner in crime Navient acts as a natural born in killers in terms of destroying young students financial lives. I refused to pay it out of my frustrations and my loans were sold off to other companies. I, eventually with the help of ombudsman was able to consolidate my loans after my paychecks were garnished and credit history was trashed. Although, Navient till now still claiming that they have my loan despite consolidating $43k loan for one year of useless so-called education.

It took me 7 years to repair my credit and even now I have only "fair" credit score. Thanks to the abuses of the school and Sallie Mae! I am still struggling to pay off my $43k student loan and it has been such a drag in my life. I do now own anything thanks to these scams that destroyed my financial life. I just wish I could exchange their diploma back for the loans they pushed on me and get myself out of this disaster... :(( Another scam just like Trump University that ruined my life!

I've been looking for a college to attend for business education for months. Now, I've been considering AIU for about three days. However, it wasn't until I was sent this link that I finally emailed the FOURTH person I'd talked to, who actually had the sense to send me their information via email instead of gushing it out over the phone like the other three, that I wasn't interested. When I had originally sent in my information for this school, I had honestly expected a pamphlet or packet in the mail like a normal college would do. No, not even close. I got at least 3 calls a day from them. IF I didn't answer the phone. And, if I had originally talked to someone and didn't call them back (working 2 day-jobs, I have LITERALLY NO TIME to call hardly anyone) they had SOMEONE ELSE call me about a day or so later. If I didn't answer, they rarely left a voicemail or their information for me to call them back.

The only gentleman that I actually enjoyed talking to was Rick; he sounded professional, at least. I don't have problems with people calling me back, though. I do have an issue with them calling me back over and over within a week and I've answered all their basic questions twice with two different people, AND I specified that I had no intentions of starting school for about half a year. They became very aggressive with wanting me to do research about their BA in Business with specialization in Entrepreneurship. It became very clear to me that they're out for money. They have one person to contact you and they don't succeed in convincing you that their school is for you, then they have person after person call you and try to convince you. All they want is your money, and they want it as soon as possible in whatever way, shape, or form they can get it.

Do not be fooled by AIU online. I am really traumatize by them, because of them I don't really want to trust online programs now. At first they will sweet talk you and convince you to enroll which I understand, and they will tell you your options on how you will pay your tuition fee. And then they will tell you to apply for FAFSA after that they will assume that you will get the maximum at PELL GRANT which is not 100% sure until the final process. And tell you to start taking classes even though your payment options has not yet been settled. I told them I want to cancel the enrollment but still they will insist and force you to take class, they'll tell you they will work it out for you. Then, the time came when my FAFSA was only approved for $300 and I told them I made up my mind and will pursue on cancelling my enrollment, they started to be mad because I clearly told them that I was not going to apply for a STUDENT LOAN.

I was reading all the reviews and saw most of them that are really bad especially reviews by our Military personnel like me. They are trying to get your G.I Bill or any kind of loan so you will be in debt and just force to take classes. I thank God I didn't apply for student loan or used my G.I Bill on them or else I would end on $45,000 in debt. My advice is to read all the reviews not just on Google but on different websites too. They don't lie! While I was applying for FAFSA I saw the students who graduate on this "UNIVERSITY" is only 33% on top of that they contacted as I type this review regarding my unsettled account. I spent a total of $600 for 1 subject which I WITHDRAWN because I knew that they are trying to hypnotize me on applying for a student loan. The funny thing is the lady that I was speaking to mentioned before she hang up was " Your payment is really important and we will be waiting for that."

They only care about the payment not your education. I'd rather spend $600 just to get them off my ass and not to be in debt for $45,000. I was really nervous for almost 1 week because of what I saw on some of the reviews of AIU. I really thank God that I was saved from this AIU. I felt relief as soon as they withdrawn me from their university. To make this LONG STORY short. Don't enroll to this "SCHOOL". Read the reviews first. Don't waste your student loans or any kind of grant in here. I'm telling you right now, they will get you apply for all kinds of student loans or whatever just to get the money and after that you are on your own. READ ALL THE REVIEWS from BBB.org or Google.com or at fafsa.gov.

I am really traumatize now. I am emphasizing this because I don't want this to happen to my fellow military personnel or to anyone else. I hope I was the last one to experience this. It was like having a PTSD because of what happened. LOL! Again, READ THE REVIEWS FIRST BEFORE ENROLLING HERE. NOT ONLY FROM ONE SITE BUT ON DIFFERENT RESOURCES TOO! You have been warned! :)

I attended this college in 2008-2009. Started in February and graduated the following March. I always enjoyed the school until the end. It was a very proud moment for me to obtain a degree. Everyone seemed helpful and supportive; however then reality came after graduation. I was made aware of I had student loans as well as 2 Pell grants. I was only aware of a Stafford unsubsidized loan and a Stafford subsidized loan along with the Pell grants. I had gotten to the point where I knew my loans should have been paid off; however... it has been 8 years since I graduated and I recently found out that my loans were in fact not paid off and no one notified me or anything.

So as any well education, intelligent woman would do I started to research. OH MY what I found. First NO ONE has copies of my promissory note that was signed. "MYEDDEBT" does not have anything, NSLDS does not have anything and after reassessing my AIU profile I have found that I can see the payments that were made to the account; however I am not able to view the promissory notes or anything. The amounts in the account versus what was documented by the school does not add up either. To top it all off the Offset my Refund this year and there is still $1400 left in my grant that they never even dispersed to the school.

I am going to fight this tooth and nail and I would suggests anyone else do the same. I already have a really good paper trail, more than any of the others do. Seems to me if they can't provide me with immediate copies of the promissory note then I do not believe they need the money and being the student you would think I would be able to see and print all necessary paperwork right off the portal, but NOPE sure can't.

I can't help but wonder is it the school... or is it the government... All I know is for a 13 month associate program I have dumped 22000.00 in and the offset was another 9000 yet the total cost of my program per AIU was only 21000.00... Do the math. The kicker for me is that not 1 single person would even help me investigate this or give me a solution. I was not offered a play or nothing. Phone call after phone call all I hears was "I'm so sorry for the situation that you're in; however there is nothing we can do for you." Small town girl with an Attitude.

I am so glad that I found all of the reviews, ripoff reports, and BBB reports on this school. The only good reviews I have seen are from people currently attending, oblivious to the fact that when they "graduate" (if this school even gives them their diploma), they won't find a job, and they'll quickly realize that all of that financial aid they were granted? Yeah, the school pocketed it and did not apply it to their tuition. Of course while you're taking classes it all seems too good to be true. Your advisor makes it this way because if you withdrawal or fail, they don't make money. I got the same runaround from these advisors that I'm sure everyone else did. I requested information and got multiple phone calls from what I can at best say are very good salesmen. Everything sounded so great, and I spent an hour on the phone with Ty ** filling out the application, FAFSA, and was pressured into starting classes much sooner than I ever intended to.

All of a sudden I was an AIU student. It kind of caught me off guard and I looked into it more. I also got a hold of military family that have gotten their BS degrees online and NOBODY has ever heard of them. That right there is a red flag out of hundreds. When I called to cancel my enrollment it turned into them trying to convince me to stay for 10-15 minutes. They stopped when I brought up the probation they were under that was never mentioned when I asked about accreditation when I was enrolling. It took me another three phone calls before my status finally read "cancelled." I was convinced they weren't going to cancel me until after classes began and would have tried to charge me, because it's been done before. I am very glad I got out when I did, before any classes began.

PLEASE do your research! There are SO MANY online schools that are SO much better. This school is for-profit and that is never a good idea. Non-profit state schools that offer online/distance learning are the way to go! They are recognized by employers, much more reputable and not to mention cheaper! Now that I have done my research and found a state school that works for me, I don't understand why anyone would pay over 55k to attend AIU. Look into your options... ASU, Penn State, UMUC, FSU, and many, many more. I rarely ever write reviews on anything, but I hope this saves some poor soul from going into massive debt for a degree that will get them nowhere.

Low quality education not worth price, pushy like salespeople. I had taken online courses before through the University of Illinois which were more challenging than in-person classes because of the need to be self-motivated and disciplined, but the teachers were very intelligent, engaged, providing constructive criticism, and the material and tests were timed and challenging, often requiring essay responses. You definitely learned. But at AIU, anyone can get an 'A.' It's a joke! For example, a comprehensive executive review was to be completed with all its sections on the subject matter, published on the bulletin board, and discussed by classmates.

I was the only person who posted one. Every other person simply commented in about a sentence or two as to what an Executive Summary is, practically verbatim copied from some dictionary definition. And the reply by the teacher regardless what any student says is something to the effect "Great job!" "Keep up the good work." "Thanks for all your hard efforts." They have nothing of substance to add or teach. I never saw any form of criticism or contrary commenting. They only want to heap false praise on you because they just don't want you to quit. They want to make sure they get paid.

The "advisor" calls you constantly to make sure you're attending classes (which never happened at other schools) because they don't get their commission if you don't attend, treating you as if you're an irresponsible child. It's very annoying, as I always attended and got straights A's with virtually no effort, which was about 100x more effort than most of my classmates were making. Their "Intellipath" has a few bits of useful information in it, but anyone can pass it as there are only a few questions you are actually, multiple choice, it's not timed, and you can do it over and over again until you get it right. If you learn anything, it's because you taught yourself, but to get an A you don't HAVE to do anything, so that makes their degrees worthless. They cost a fortune and you walk away with nothing. I don't know how they got accredited.

So I've been looking up online about the reviews and see that many people are dissatisfied with AIU. I will be calling them tomorrow to send me the contract (once again, because the first time I looked it over it said that you will not be charged for orientation) and if I see what I read the first time, then I am going to be pursuing a class action lawsuit. If anyone else would like to join me, then feel free to message me. I should not have to pay $1,400 for something that they kicked me out of. It is absolutely ridiculous. I wish I would have read the reviews to save me time.

I graduated from American International University in 2007 with a Bachelor's in Accounting and Finance. The University was very clear on pricing. The online setup was very easy to navigate - way better than Blackboard. Yes, it was expensive - I got what I paid for. Did they hand me a job when I graduated? No. I had to go get my own job. Was I paid a higher wage because I had my degree? Yes. Do I think a college degree is necessary to do the work I do in the finance industry - probably not. Have a degree gives me the qualification I needed to even apply. Getting the job was up to me. I had two teenagers when I was going through this program. It was really hard. We all worked really hard together. It was an excellent example to set. I have zero regrets and nothing negative to say about my experience as a student at AIU.

My financial part was covered by my financial aid. Only have to pay a smaller amount but at the end of graduation and six months afterwards I get a total charge of $42,000 in debt. They kept adding additional classes and then told me that was added on after the criteria was overlooked. If there any class action lawsuits I would love to be a part of it. So when I couldn't get a job because I was unqualified and they fell through on their promise to help me find a job I defaulted and then the hell really started, calling all hours of the day and night every single day and just nasty on the phone.

Had I known the cost up front and the trouble I had got into I would of never EVER went with this school but they kept the promises coming of a better life making good money at the end. 11 years later and still have not once used this degree but I am still in huge debt because of it. Before agreeing to the school terms I asked several times about the payments that would need to be made monthly after getting loans and government help, and was told, "Oh, as long as you make some kind of payment to them every month you will be fine."

Well you know how that went... I was cut off from access to my classes, had to play catchup every time a new class started. The dollar amount went up each time until the point where I could not afford it anymore. I would get letters in the mail telling me I owe 40 something thousands of dollars. I told them there's no way I owe that much if I didn't finish the total course of 40 something thousands of dollars. And furthermore AIU prices were ridiculous, but I was told the school was accredited. Now I'm reading all of these reviews and they are NOT... UNREAL! And here it is 2016 and I'm still paying and trying to make sense of not having a degree with them. TOTAL RIPOFF! I am so in agreement of a lawsuit. Count me in also.

As the conversation went on I started to get nervous because it was all looking too good to be true. I noticed a review where someone talked about postponing their enrollment and AIU guilt tripped them into starting sooner which is exactly what they did to me! So, we got to the part where they wanted me to sign off on the application and input my social security as an electronic signature. Immediately I got a sick feeling in my stomach and when I told the AIU adviser that I wanted to take some time to look over all of the fine print before entering my social and accepting, she quickly reassured me that after signing I would be able to review all of the pdf documents of the agreements but something still felt off.

I told them I didn't feel comfortable giving out my social on a whim without doing my homework, and I told them I would call back on Monday once I'd had the opportunity to do just that. I then started looking up reviews and stumbled across this site and I'm so thankful that I did. So, thank you for taking time to review them. I was one class away from finishing my Bachelors in Business Management when I got a phone call from my advisor that said I had lied about my transcripts and now needed to take 6 more classes to complete my degree and that I should have started off in the Associates Program because it would have cost less and I'd already be done. Huh? I had more than 60 transfer hours. My last class didn't even have anything to do with my degree as I had finished all of those classes. My last class was going to be Art History. So I dropped it because there is no point in taking art history for a business degree that they weren't going to give me.

I argued and argued with them because there is no way to lie about your transcripts when they have sealed copies sent to them by my previous university!! Ten years later I have over $40,000 in SL debt because of them. And NO degree. They've also had the audacity to call me off and on offering for me to come back, at my cost of course. The kicker - I'd have to start all over and NONE of my previous classes with them would transfer in their own school!!

I have a had a bad and expensive experience with this so-called university. I only took 10 courses and I owe them more than $25,000. The classes were under two months long each. I took one class at a time. This was a plan they said they set up for people like me, working mother of three, so I could earn a degree at home. The classes required me to log on and post to the forum once a week and write a paper of a certain required word limit, usually equal to one page. That's it, turn that in and get an A. Wow. This is easy, I thought, until I realized I wasn't learning anything new or anything that was going to prepare me for a job in the field. I was essential buying a worthless degree. Financial Aid office would call me and tell me it was time to sign new papers to continue my aid.

Since the classes cost a considerable amount more than the federal aid provided, I did not get the overpay that one would normally get from attending a regular campus community college. When I asked for an additional $1000 to cover my expenses, they said no, that amount was not allowed, that I was required to take the full $5000 or nothing at all. Having never been to college before I didn't know better. I figured it out when the same assignments were given to me in my Medical Records class and in my Medical Coding class. One example assignment was: Explain the pros and cons of switching from paper to electronic records. Same assignment in both classes. When I confronted them about it over the phone, they dropped the program. I would like to be part of any lawsuit against them. Please contact me!!!

I was one month away from receiving my degree, Bachelors in Business Management, when I received a call from my "Advisor" that I needed three more classes and the cost would be another $4000. Since I was tapped out on my student loans, this amount would have to come out of my pocket. I did not have the money so I ended up having to drop out at that semester. At this time I didn't realize that this online university was not accredited. They told me over and over again that they were an accredited university. So here I am 10 years later still $25,000 in debt, no degree from this university and the kicker to the whole thing is even after I dropped out they harassed me for almost a year to try and get the $4,000 for classes that I never even registered or took.

I finally had to get my attorney involved who wrote them a letter and they finally stop harassing me and I never heard from them again. I know that it's very easy for people to judge from the outside looking in but I was a single mom of three kids working a full time job and I knew if I could get my degree, I already had an associates at the time of registering with this university, I could improve the lives of all of us financially because I would be eligible for better positions within the company I was working. Well shame on me and in hindsight it probably wouldn't have mattered anyway knowing that the degrees from this university weren't worth the paper that they were written on. Yet, despite my listing on my resume and on sites such as LinkedIn, I have to report that the degree has not aided me in getting any job over the last ten tears since graduation. I get the sense that the AIU degree is viewed as a throw-away degree. That's too bad, because I had a good time earning it. And it did require hard work on my part.

I was promised that a Master's degree would significantly increase my earning power. That did not happen. I graduated $28,000 in debt, an amount that has now grown to over $40,000. I have had to default, with significant negative consequences. Since the degree has added nothing to my career, I would gladly surrender the degree to wipe out the debt. If I ever do get a permanent job in my field of study, the first year of work will have to go toward working off the loans that AIU encouraged me to agree to on the promise that I would be able to get a better job. Additionally, job assistance was promised during the enrollment process. That assistance never materialized. I do not recommend the institution.

I did not have any issues with the courses or how classes were handled. As a matter of fact, I worked my butt off and learned quite a bit. My course work was good and I've still got it.

I left teaching in 2008 in order to take a job in corporate training using the Master's degree. That turned out to be a ripoff as well. I now come to find out that this degree that I've paid (and still am struggling to pay) so much for and touted as qualification is pretty much a joke. I know now why I don't get callbacks to jobs I'm perfectly qualified for. AIU sold me a service and a product and then deliberately proceeded to make it worthless with their business practices.

AIU needs to know that they are accountable to the graduates who worked hard and finished their programs. Graduates who now can't get a decent job because their degree is from a university that is largely known as a fraud. Students whose characters have been damaged by association with this fraudulent school. This is my life they screwed up. I don't want forgiveness of my student loans. I want damages enough to pay the school loan people back so the US taxpayer isn't defrauded as well. Additionally I think enough damages to support my family and myself as I get a worthwhile degree from a qualified university.

Thought AIU online would be good for me since they have a seemingly manageable MHCA grad program. Pretty easy to get your docs in. However, you do not schedule your own classes; your advisor will. (Mini spiderweb trap: therefore you will eventually get automatically charge tuition at $500+ a credit hour for grad school X 6 = scary!!!!)

If you ask to push back your start a month, (spiderweb trap #1) they will guilt you into starting when originally planned. You start to learn about the school through your own or through sites like this and want to drop/disenroll/withdraw? Starts Spiderweb #2: you can't just request withdrawal or cancellation of enrollment. They will talk to you for 10-15 minutes trying to keep and trap and guilt you to not leave. Bottom line: if you the student do not agree with how the school does business you have the right to cancel/withdraw without being guilted!

I went to AIU for less than a year and decided to leave because of the cost (major: Fashion Design & Marketing). I was in class one day and was contacted and told to go to the Financial Aid office as my cost were not covered. When I initially signed up for the school I was fully covered but somewhere in the process (1st Qtr) the funding ran out. They did not explain to me why... I left the school about a qtr after with close to 17K in debt for less than a year of education.

I would highly suggest going to a more notable school for Fashion Design and save your parents and yourself the unnecessary cost for and a below the bar education. Look into schools that have great reviews and great alumni... Two or Three notable alumni is not good enough. I had kept all communications between me and everyone I was in contact with the University and appealed the grade. Not only was I denied to take the class again, I was told that I did not provide enough evidence of being kicked out and having to move. One person even asked me if I could get a letter from the previous landlord that I was told to vacate the premises. I asked her the court papers, and the protective order against him was not proof enough that I had left that home? She told me "no", that I had to get something in writing from him. I just filed for a class action lawsuit against AIU online and it seems many others here are wanting to do the same. They are essentially wolves in sheep's clothing. They enrolled me without having my transcripts from the previous college where I was 3 credits away from graduating. I didn't find out they never had them till I wanted to unenroll due to taking all classes over again. The unenrollment counselor was the one that told me they never had them. I'm sitting on major school loans in collections. If we don't stop AIU it will never stop with their Irreprehensible activities.

I attended AIU online from July 2014 to November 2014 and I am disgusted with them. At first, I enrolled in one degree program and my first adviser was great. Then I was given a new one who you could barely get a hold of and seemed to not care to call you back. Once he did, it felt like you were being talked down to. Well, about at the start of the second week in my 5 week set of classes, I changed degrees and was informed twice that my classes would stop since I was changing degrees. Well, I found two weeks later that wasn't the case and that I was failing with no way to even make up the grades. I was forced to retake those two classes and played hell trying to get the listed substitutions. They were being sales people and trying to make it seem as if they are better than you.

I started looking around at another school and stated in an email that I will transfer out and was met with a foot dragging office who didn't want a student to drop and leave. And then they had the nerve to bad mouth the university I was leaving them for. I'm sorry but I would rather go to somewhere that is National accredited instead of regionally and thinking that's the best or the gold standard. Lastly, financial aid. All they do is have you fill out a fasfa but then you somehow gather more different loans!! If I could remake the choice of going to them, I would of never enrolled into AIU. If there is a lawsuit, I will file as well because they are a bunch of uneducated people who can't even spell. Every other word in lessons, chats, emails and so on are misspelled.

I have been enrolled since July of this year and I'm being even though I took out the max amount in loans I'm only getting a few dollars back for the entire academic year. I was told I had several schedule changes which I was not told about. Basically, I feel that this school just drained all my stipend money for something other than my schooling.

I have been attending AIU online since March 2014. At first everything was going well. I had to drop a class, because it became too challenging along with other problems. Well, I withdrew from the class, then they withdrew me from the school. Yet, they allowed me to start back to class without ever telling me until I inquired about my FSA. They had to repack, then all of a sudden I have a balance and then they stated that my disbursements would come in 2 increments, for each class. Now, when I started I received stipends every 10 weeks.

Also, even if you withdraw from a class because you are failing or for whatever reason, you have to continue to take this class until you pass it. We are grown people and should be able to choose the classes that we want to take and the time that we want to take it. We are not in Elementary school. This school insults you and plays you for a fool when it comes to classes and money. If by chance that my FSA and or grades become questionable, I will take it very personal as to retaliation against me.

I'm trying to find a way to report this matter. If anyone has suggestions, please let me know.

In one week, I received five of the same books when I already had three of them. When the money ran out, so did they. I attended N.C.C.U. and Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science (Now Phil. Univ). I am a Fall 1997 graduate of A.I.U.B.A. Fashion Design. That very quarter, American College for the Applied Arts changed into A.I.U. There were several instructors that were lackluster in their pursuit to teach. There was absolutely no career planning and placement, no advisers to set you up with potential employers in the Fashion Industry. If it were not for my Financial Aid Counselor, I would not have received the tuition from student loans. She later resigned or was fired because of the changes that were taking place in the school.

The economic damage is over $100k plus interest in student loans, no industry experience in my concentration other than Retail management or lower, i.e. stock, merchandiser, visual display, etc. Two years after graduation, I ventured to NYC and Philadelphia Fashion Districts to interview and further pursue my experience in the Fashion Industry. A.I.U. was not respected; furthermore, the career planning and placement office was none existent, so I had to figure things out without proper guidance from the school. Only a part-time millinery sewing job came out of it. I also watched my girlfriend at the time of 6 years, graduate of Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science, where I attended before A.I.U. land a job in Fashion Marketing for over $60K. I was able to land a part time Millinery sewing job earning only $8/hour.

I had proposed to my girlfriend with a child on the way. She did not want to marry me because I could not make enough money to support us, so she broke up with me and got an abortion. With no family, I was forced to move back to Atlanta and start from scratch, retail after retail job of $9/ hour or less. Since 2000, I still cannot pay my student loans back living in Room-in-houses, to pinch and save to create a start up Fashion Service: Custom Apparel, Alteration, Pattern/Sample making services. Just getting by I cycled for the last 10 years and have been on food stamps to survive. Now in 2010, I am still in the same financial quagmire as when I graduated in 1997.

As former student and Graduate of American Intercontinental University, or AIU, a for-profit school that operates numerous campuses in the United States and Dubai, I would like to file a lawsuit against this school. I am one of the many students that the school and its parent company, Delaware-based Career Education Company, or CEC, operated a fraudulent scheme by marketing itself as a selective school that boasted after-college careers for graduates and resources to help students find jobs.

These representations were materially false and/or misleading. There has been a class action once against this establishment but only the original plaintiffs received any type of financial relief. I qualified for 100 percent relief, but was not entitled too much of anything after the payout. Also, with the respect to CEC and Sallie Mae, all of the students’ loans were packaged without an option to select their own lender. The only lender that they used was Sallie Mae. They were the default lender if you did not qualify for Federal Student aid.

Can you please contact me or assist me with the filing of this Lawsuit? I have had so many bad things happen in my life and I really just wanted to go back to school to obtain my degree so that I can provide for myself and my family. I went to school to obtain a career in Marketing and Fashion Design, but have been able to do so since I have graduated from American Intercontinental University in 2005. I have only been able to obtain office jobs. Office jobs pay $30,000-$40,000 per year, which is what I was making before I attended AIU for a Private Education to be able to make a better living. At this point, my student loans total $90,000. I am also disabled and have had to defer my student loans which mean they are accruing major interest. At one point, I was paying 19 percent on at least 6 loans.

This is the way Air's Financial Aid Division packaged their loans. Please contact me and guide me in the right direction. I am unsure what I am to do at this point. The college's advertisement and representation is very misleading, and for a woman who's trying to take her life to the next level, I truly believed that this would definitely help me get there. Please help me.

I am forwarding this correspondence in reference to a complaint/response letter I forward to American Intercontinental University on 16 September 2008 to receive a response or resolution. My student number was 8742239. I have yet to hear from their institution. The letter was addressed to AIU Accounts, Darrick Ridley. He has not responded and once again I received another collection letter for a balance of $4, 628.51 dollars. I forward the letter with supporting documents that makes my case pertaining to why the institution should not charge me the amount requested. The situation amounts to the fact I was forced to receive a failing grade in the course detailed in the letter I previously forward to their institution. The professor/instructor failed his obligation to ensure my grades were submitted before the class session came to a close. I in essence requested more time to complete my assignments due to my military obligations to support my country in the fight against terrorism and technical difficulties I occurred. The professor granted my request then rescinded his previous statement by notifying me there wasn't anything he could do because he had turned in all his grades and I should use my advisor for a resolution. Due to his failure I was forced to retake the course. Also due to my shift work and constant mission oriented work schedule I was unable to place a complaint within time restraints requested by the university. I am a member of the U.S. Army whose duties involve supporting missions in Iraq and a combat veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom. I only owe this amount because of the professor not executing what he stated in an e-mail. Paying for a course I had to simply retake because a stated obligation was not adhered too. I have attached the mailed letter and the e-mail verification of my statement. Please help me to resolve this matter and either have the amount waived are reduced drastically. This is a detriment to the fighting men and women of this nation. If AIU has done this to me I am sure there are other service members going through my same dilemma. I will also report this complaint to the identified Illinois departments for a resolution and to the U.S. Army Education Office because AIU receive grants for vets and collecting tuition assistance. Thanks for any help your state organization can provide me.

"Dear Mrs. P, It is with the greatest respect and honor that I write to you; and I write to you at this late hour so as not forget my correlated thoughts upon this subject. Approximately one week or so after having informed CEC and American Intercontinental University Online of my intent to file formal complaints with SACS, The Department of Education, the Inspector General the following changes were immediately implemented after each employee received an Unannounced Visitor Plan:

    1. A ping pong table was placed at the entrance of the visitor entrance. 2. "Casual Day" became the norm rather than the exception. Casual day is now used as an enticement and inducement. You yourself said in a Focus Group that I attended stated that you thought employees should not dress casual because they produce better work when they dress nice. 3. Ice cream and pizza parties were organized; tables were set up outside for group lunches. 4. There has been a concerted effort to offer competition among the various teams with various "prizes, money, dinner, casual days".

While on the face of it, these inducements may inspirational to some and extortion to others. I happen to see them so suddenly implemented after having received the "Unannounced Visitor Plan" memo that it is my analysis that when someone from the Inspector General's Office, a representative of our accreditation body, the Department of Education etc. arrives they will see the ping pong table and think to themselves that "oh this looks like an enjoyable and fun place to work. Furthermore, The Unannounced Visitor Plan eludes to the employee to, in essence, not to get into a conversation with any of these authorities.

The previously mentioned inducements, I think, are meant as a way of silencing, extorting, and impeding any investigation that may be coming in the future as a result of my communications with CEC and AIU to File Formal Complaints.. How is this so: the inducements that I have mentioned could have an effect upon employees that if asked questions from authorities their answers may be positive rather than negative. I know for a fact that most employees can see through this deception and ruse. I myself am hardly fooled by the ping pong table, the calorie laden pizzas, ice-cream and implementation of insincere contests for money, food, gift certificates and so on.

I am a very analytical person and happen to know most of the employees who work in our building; very few of which are happy or deceived by these inducements are unhappy for several reasons; each of which are not dusted over by such pathetic enducements. 1. The attrition rate observed by the employees and myself is startling if not appalling. 2. If an employee's "numbers" are not high enough they are berated, written up and eventually given a 30-day warning. 3. I have never seen such attrition in my entire employment history. 4. I, along with many other employees are harassed in order to get or increase enrollments. 5. Manipulative emails are sent out in order to spark fear in employees to somehow get employees to increase production.

This is the reality; not the ping pong tables, not the pizza and ice cream, not contests. I have been in our workplace for almost a year now. When I was a temp, with Staffing Now, under the misdirection of Mr. Michael Buck, I was literally psychologically damaged. The training methods utilized were torture and it was daily held over my head that if I made any mistakes or did not get enough enrollments that I would be "let go" and "not converted". Why didn't I say anything at the time? Because I was warned that if I made any waves that I would be "terminated, walked out and not converted." Who told me that? Mr Michael B., Mr. Richard B., and senior employees.

In conclusion, I requested Formal Paperwork in order to File a Formal Complaint against American Intercontinental University Online and CEC and was told that there is no Formal Paperwork to file a complaint. Micro management is pain and punishment combined with the fear of losing your job. I wrote to the President of SACS and was provided today with all of the Formal Complaint paperwork which I will meticulously and accurately fill out.

I was told by Mrs.Rhonda C., the current Human Resource Manager here at AIU that "James, this is not a prison, you are free to leave whenever you wish" Asking an employee or suggesting that I resign is inappropriate and insulting and is indicative of the general culture of the company or at least from what I have seen here at AIU Online thus far.

When I was studying for my Masters degree we were taught that micro management is the worst and most insidious form of management; yet that is the form of management used here in our workplace. Just so you are aware: most, around 95% of our employees are not happy and are miserable. They are there because they have bills to pay and you take total advantage of that fear by making it crystal clear that if their performance is not as it should be they will be terminated; in some form or another this is a daily reminder. The methodology that is used is simple: problem, reaction, solution.

I bring these things to your attention because when you hired me you told me that you had an open door policy. Do you really? One other thing. Raphael C. approached me about filling out paperwork that was a pre-emptive report for me to write in order to eventually place me in a position of management because I had shown interest in that area and had performed exceptionally as a temp. When I was "converted" over and became an employee and filed a few complaints and concerns. I have never heard mention of me going into management again. This is both disgusting and discriminating. I did fill out the paperwork promptly and gave it to Raphael. I mention this only to show how manipulative the current system at AIU Online is.

I am not flooding you with too many words; I am flooding you with facts. And it isn't that I don't "believe", ok, it is not that I don't "b e l i e v e" in our organization, but I have personally witnessed the harassment, abuse, psychological warfare used by trainers, managers, supervisors, when I was a temp, and continue to do so. I have never seen a workplace that was so vicious and had such a lack of respect for employees and has caused me much damage both emotional and psychological through the use of very well planned out confrontational interractions.

Upon withdrawing, I was told that the remaining balance (which totaled over $4,000) was now due in full. They harassed me day and night--even after 8p.m. (an hour in which I do not feel is appropriate for them to be calling my home). They even had the nerve to call on weekends demanding money. They they threatened to send my information to collections several times, even though I had made payments (including one totaling $1,000).

I found another institution to continue my education, but of course they need my transcripts which AIU refused to release...even though I had been making payments. They are the worst institution I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. They are not at all concerned about the student and their education, but only with the money they get from them. They need to be put out of business!

I have had to place my education on hold, and my family has suffered financially due to basically having to pay to get rid of them.

Iam a student at AIU-London. I currently receive $36,000 worth of financial aid. one years tuition is $24,000 . however, for several semesters now i have been short of money for living expenses and continue to owe an outstanding balance. they say this is because i moved out of the dorms during a term but by the fall term the outstanding balance was covered, and the exchange rates. the universities finance department holds students money after tuition and fees have been applied and then they give them their balances in two disbursements. 1 before midterms and 1 after.

this results in students not receiving all the money they should, had the finanace dept returned the balance to the student after tuition and fees were billed.many of the policies of the finance department, no one has every heard of and for that matter cannot find in any handbook. the main problem is regarding the sallie mae alternative loans which many students have, i'm aware that they have less restrictions than titleV funding and its therefore left to the discretion of the school. i am seriously concerned about the dealing of the finance department at AIU-London. they have lost or misplaced thousand of dollars worth of funding for one student in the summer term, co-signed a loan for a student without their or their parents knowledge.

Many students believe that the finance department holds on to our balances so they can earn intrest on it. is it possible to have someone investigate whether or not they have violated Title 20 United States Code section 1097?

As a result of the policy of the finance department at AIU-London i never have enough money to cover my living expenses in london, therefore i have to request that my loan disbursements from sallie mae be pushed up to an earlier date. Also many students find them selves broke and in emminent threat of being kicked out of their flats because they cannot pay their rents. others don't attend classes because they have no money to pay the tube fare.they only recommendations the finance department makes is to take out more private loans or get a part time job which isn't possible with most students scheduals.

I'm a student at American Intercontinental University-London. I have been a full time student for over two-years now. A situation arose this term {FALL TERM 2005} which I need help in resolving. Three weeks before the start of fall-term I had a meeting with the finance advisor at the university. She told me I had been under funded by around $3,400, and sent an email to the processing team in Chicago to adjust my disbursement for fall term. I registered for my classes before the end of summer, and went off to the states to visit family.

I had previously told the finance office I will be moving next term, just to make sure funding was okay on return so there wouldn't be homeless. They ask students to bring leases for their accommodation when they move off campus, which can be hassle if information is not sufficient to what they want. My lease was due to expire on the 23 of September so I did not want to be homeless.

I returned to classes on the 12th of Oct. normally refunds arent given on the first week of classes, so I put in a refund request for next week for the move-in cost. I noticed on salliemaes (my loan provider) website my disbursement date had been changed twice and was now scheduled for the Oct. 18th. I was staying with a friend and I needed to move out , so I reminded them of the urgency for me to receive my funding. On the 19th of Oct.

I was given a refund of 1223, which was short 1,000 of what I requested. The following day I was sent an email on the from the finance advisor that they over-awarded me for the academic year, (see attachments). I had a meeting with Tanya G on the 27th of Oct. and she told me basically they will need to send back almost $5,725 to the lender because they made a mistake in my budget for the year. I asked why they didn't let me know before start of term and was told she didn't detect the mistake till the 18th of Oct.
