That card was good at first. Then I made to many payments in a week (3) so they put a block on my card and I had to verify my bank account and show them the payments were take out of my bank account. They have to make sure that the account was mine (bank). I told them I been using the same account for 5yrs. But I still had to verify that it was me. So I sent the papers to verify that it was my account. Then they told me it well 10 business days so 2 weeks. They got their money and my cards are at a zero. It's BS. Stop send calls to some other country.

Was 8 days late during the Covid-19 outbreak and they started harassing phone calls and also calling a lot of my relatives! Unacceptable!! All of my other cards were wonderful and waived a payment and interest no questions asked! Now that I am back to work this card will be paid off next month and closed! Had credit card for about 5 years, paid full balance off every month. No problem with card, till my credit card was hacked. About 2 years ago, after that nothing but trouble with company. Took them 6 to 8 months to find out, card was hacked and it wasn't anything to do with me. They never reset bounce right, pay $25 for new card which I could not use while they were checking where the hack came from. Tried to charge me interest on the money from the amount the hacker added to the card. Call the company several times customer service. Got zero results, now they sent my card to a collection agency. On money that I didn't use that was done by the hacker. Got zero results from them, even though I paid extra to have security on the card to cover all that. Recommend no one get this card or try to use it.

I didn't get a credit card in my teens/early 20s. BIG mistake. NO ONE would take a chance on me at 25+; not because of bad credit, but "insufficient credit history." Credit One at age 31 gave me a chance! Kept the card almost 3 years, now onto "bigger and better" cards with a score 700+. Had they not given me a chance, I'd be SOL as now my dad is passed on and I only have my own credit to rely on if I need it. Thank you Credit One! Product A+++; does as intended--CREDIT BUILDER (even at 31!).

They tell me use the app or online that they don’t take payments over phone. Try again. Hit brick wall. Send money order in. I guess they didn’t post it. Get a bill overdue by the way and guess what? I was charged for the two freaking phone calls?!?! So now today I received two calls both in which they verify my info. And then call disconnects. All I want to do is pay. Why is that so hard to do? Like they are trying to screw up my credit. I’m gonna pay them off and they can take this card and shove it.

I first opened an account with Credit One to begin building a credit history. Over five years, I've encountered numerous problems with Credit One's online payment system. Most of these have been fairly trivial (momentary unplanned disruptions in access to the customer website; failure of the telephone system for activating a new card, requiring me to call in to customer service and spend an unreasonable amount of time on hold to complete a process that should take less than two minutes), but the most recent one isn't, and in all honesty, a credit card company that charges fees and interest has an obligation to ensure that its technology works and that its customers have access to customer support in order to resolve problems that might occur when it doesn't.

I have often considered taking my business elsewhere, but figured it made sense for credit-building purposes to keep this account open instead, regardless of the annual fees and iffy technical stability. At this point, I'm seriously reconsidering that decision. Two years ago, my spouse and I had to change our checking account number after our bank's database was compromised. At the time, I updated my Credit One account to take payment from the new account number and removed the old one, and since then have been paying my bill from the new checking account. There have been occasional hiccups with the payment system--in May of this year (2020), for example, I received a message indicating that my payment hadn't been received when, in fact, it had been received and was reflected in the account overview when I logged into the website.

This month (June 2020), I attempted payment twice. On 01 June, I logged in and made a payment from the website. On 03 June, I received an email indicating that the payment had been returned (though no indication was given as to why it had been returned). Since I knew I had more than enough money in my checking account to cover the payment and had no further information at hand, I assumed there was some kind of momentary glitch on the part of either Credit One or my bank, signed back into Credit One's site, and ran the payment again.

Imagine my surprise when I received an email indicating that my account had been closed due to "multiple" (read: TWO) returned payments. I called customer service immediately and discovered that they seem to have no protocol for dealing with this situation that THEIR payment system caused, and which stands to damage my credit rating if it is not resolved from their end, as their system automatically reports the closure of the account in terms that are injurious to the account-holder's credit rating.

After an hour on the phone with two different agents, I learned that Credit One's system had reverted to using the old checking account number *even though I was selecting the current checking account number on the payment system interface.* As someone who's worked with banking databases and web interface development, this suggests to me that the database containing clients' payment information has been incorrectly restored/merged from an old backup and/or that the client-side interface isn't handling database calls correctly.

Worse, I don't think the customer service agent I spoke to actually understood what I meant when I explained that the account from which the system was attempting to take payment had been closed for two years, that I had not selected that account on the payment interface, and that this was a significant technical problem on THEIR end that needs to be addressed.

Please note that I don't fault the individual customer service agents for this: they were polite and did their best, but they clearly haven't been trained to deal with this kind of situation. I suspect that they may not have the technical background to understand the nature of the problem in question. That said, the company has made resolving this problem quite difficult and clearly hasn't provided its CS agents with a resolution path for this kind of situation, which is absolutely unacceptable.

I was given a kind of stop-gap resolution path requiring me to get an "account verification letter" from my bank and fax it to Credit One. Given that all I'm asking them to do is notice that they've been trying to take payment from an account I removed from their system two years ago, this seems patently ridiculous, but I'm going to do it anyway, because the CS agents don't get to decide how to handle the case. They're "just following orders," so to speak. The fact that this should never have happened in the first place and wasn't my fault seems beyond their understanding.

I've historically avoided dealing with Credit One's customer service department by phone because there's always an unreasonably long hold time (note to companies: if you find that you're always "experiencing high volume," the solution is to hire more support staff and provide better training; when customers hear that phrase in the hold message every time they call in, we know it's a lie and that volume is ALWAYS high). However, regardless of the fact that it's 2020 and both email and internet chat have been around for decades, Credit One makes neither option readily available.

I'm still in the midst of trying to resolve this problem, but at this point I can't recommend this company to potential customers. CreditOne seemed like a reasonable place to begin building a credit history, but if they don't handle this situation appropriately, it will actually *damage* my credit history instead. Proceed with caution, and if you do find yourself using Credit One to build credit, move on to a better credit card company as soon as possible.

Very disappointment with this card. First there was an annual fee which I missed in the fine print. Second they charge interest on every transaction at a high rate. I realize that I have just gone through a bankruptcy due to a failed business. I really don't have the problem with the annual fee if I would have known up front instead of the fine print but interest on all purchases regardless of payoff no way no how. Could have gotten a prepaid card that builds credit without interest unless you are late on your payment.

DO NOT OPEN AN ACCOUNT WITH THIS COMPANY! I have had two cards with them and pay them off every month. In March of this year I see my statement and there are over $800 in fraudulent charges. One of the charges is for $650 at at grocery store. The crooks had tried to use the card at a Walmart and it was declined. But the Kroger AND these idiots approved a charge for $650. So I call in and report this. I did NOT lose my card and it was in my possession. Furthermore these stores are nowhere close to where I live. The customer service rep flags my account, they send me another card, and do an investigation.

Fast forward to 3 weeks ago and I open my account app and see ALL the charges have been added back on to my account. I called again and was told that it was proven the card was used with a chip, and THUS I am accountable. I lost my everloving mind on these people. I told them they DID NOT do an investigation because if they pulled the security cameras they would have seen that it was not me. The brazen thief's even got gas at the Kroger gas station right next to the store. I use Exxon and Shell only for the detergents in the gas, and do not use grocery store gas due to the issues with my car.

I was told to REOPEN the investigation, I had to make a police report. And lo and behold, another credit card was stolen from my mailbox and somehow activated. The jerks went to Kroger again, and spent 350.00 and then filled up their car again. I called the police and also Chase Bank and they plan to open a very thorough investigation as I never even received this card. But obviously to anyone with a brain these are the SAME people.

So I have had to yet spend valuable time trying to deal with Credit One and resend in everything I had before with a police report. The very fact that Walmart turned the card down for no ID, and then they went across the street, would tell a fraud investigator that it WAS NOT ME! I have an ID to match the card. But not these people. Oh no. So when this is over I will close over 3 grand in credit just to get away from them and will tell everyone I can about this deplorable treatment. I let Credit One know in advance this was going to happen. They could care less. Try Merrick Bank if you need a good card without a sky high credit score and much better customer service. STAY AWAY from this outfit.

Only take this card if it is a last resort. They charge a very high yearly fee. They also charge a fee to get a credit line increase, and another fee to replace a stolen card. I called to let them know that my card was stolen and that it might get used for fraudulent charges. They did not seem to care and charged me $25 to get a replacement card. They were the only card to do this out of all of my accounts. If you can get a card anywhere else, do it, and stay away from this company.

Of course am now upset that she can’t help me so my voice got louder and she went louder than me. She told me I have to hang up and select option 3. I asked her why she can’t transfer me to the department who handle my concern. She said she don’t have the ability to do that I have to hang up and go back to the main menu. I hang up and called again and option three does not have anything to do with disputing transaction. So I am left disappointed because I still have a charge on my account and I can’t get it resolved.

Utterly disgusted with this company. It took two times for this company to close my account. Their employees lied of closing my account, mailing closed account documents, and they purposely harass you to pay late fees on the account the day before the new billing statement comes out. Their tactics to gouge money out of their customers is horrific. I will never recommend, perform transactions, or promote this company. Then the nerve to act like they are performing you a favor when they rescind these monthly "annual charges" and weird time of the month late fee charges.

Again their employees should have access to all customer information that is deemed necessary to help the customer such as "knowing the date of the next charge to the customer's account". They should also record the conversations as evidence of words exchanged since their employees are not trained to properly document key pieces of information from those phone conversations. People stick to Capital One, Discover, Visa, Chase, and more reputable companies for opening lines of credit to protect yourself from leeches of the earth like Credit One Bank.

I hate doing this, Credit One is a crooked credit card company. I have had them as a credit card since August 2019, not once have I had access to my statements through their website or app, who knows where that money is actually going. Every month I have tried to pay my bill, the payments get returned. It forces me to have to deal with their "fantastic" customer service to pay my bill, late because it takes 5 days to process and tell me it gets returned, but while speaking to these "people" I have to pay a $5-$10 processing fee... Kinda shady already right? Well April 2020 I decided to pay the balance and shred my card never to deal with this Idiocracy again, guess what?! Got returned but no one told me. No update, nothing... Just got an email saying my account is being locked out and I have a much larger balance because of interest and late fees and whatnot. Great...

I call to get this resolved and am hung up on twice, then switched hands thrice after to basic Account Managers who refused to give me any information AND they DON'T HAVE A FRAUD TEAM! Then get transferred over and over to the "highest manager" Derrick (**), he lies to me and refuses to give information about my account and transfers me to a co-worker! It's just criminal and what the heck do I do at this point?! Any suggestions?

In the last few months, most companies have been kind to people who are struggling, most financial institutions aren't reporting negative to your credit bureaus, CreditOne is. This is where I draw the line, my credit suffered from stupid activity in the past when I was a teenager and made dumb mistakes, now I'm actually trying to fix those mistakes and am so close to being completely debt free, I pay my bills (or try and fail in this case), this is what happens. Now I have points shaved off my credit for something I really didn't think would happen, paying my bill... #creditone #creditonecons #creditonethiefs #creditonesuspect #creditonefraud #creditonestealingfrommybaby #dontusecreditone #abuseofpower #financialinstitutethieves #hurtcredit

I’m reading these reviews. Smh at the self entitled irresponsible people complaining about getting late fees when paying their bill late. Whether it be an hr or a month late is late. I was given a $2k limit and two months later they gave me a small but appreciated cli of $200 which brought my new cl to $2200. Since owning this card I have paid a total of $2 if I’m not mistaken. My credit score was in the 640’s when I decided to get back in the credit game because my wife and I were buying a house and would carry a relatively modest mortgage.

In 10 months all of my scores have increased by a lot, Fico 8 Experian 725, Equifax 740, & Trans Union 737, Vantage 3.0 Experian 738, Equifax 744, & Trans Union 738 and one reason is because Credit One reports my onetime payments every single month like clockwork just like they would if you were late. And by the way credit card banks are not allowed to report a late payment to the credit bureaus unless you are at least 30 days late. Some of these reviews are exaggeration and or flat out lies and you only know the rules these cc issuers play by to know when some reviews are laughable!

Btw I have never used the express payment and have had no trouble paying on time. Yep they take a few days to credit back posted payments to your cl but so does many other highly thought of banks. If you’re going to pay late and only pay a minimum balance every month by all means stay away from Credit One!! And Capital One, Chase, Citi, Wells, Amex, Apple Card, etc etc.. Thx & good luck.

I got approved for a Credit One Bank Credit Card in 2019. It was my very first Credit Card. Everything was going good for a while, until I began to see the way they operate. First off, when making a payment, they don't process it right away. They will hold the money for a few days, then process it. There were times where I paid a day early, the money was not immediately taken from my bank account, and now I get a notification that my payment is late, and my Credit Score negatively affected. Second, their customer service is not too great. You would be on hold for a while, and I even spoke to one lady today, she was rude, was then transferred to the account management department, and the person hung up on me, claiming they couldn't hear my voice, while I was almost screaming on the phone trying to make sure my voice was loud enough.

Lastly, I decided to close my account in Feb. of this year. I spoke to an account Rep. and I told her I wanted my account closed. I paid off my remaining balance at the time, my account came to $0.00, I checked. Now, I get a call today saying there was a balance on my account, because for March and April, I was being charged late fees and interest fees for both months, which goes back to my second point. It was all good in the beginning months, but then after while, the experience became went downhill.

They hold your payment, even though they take it right out of your account, for 5 business days trying to get people to pay that $9.95 for their instant payment. So sad that businesses like this can even be in business.

Your account has been put on hold because we need a letter from your back that says you are the owner of the bank account that's on this account." Oh was I livid. I went back and forth with these guys to open my account. I finally called them and my bank to prove I am the owner of this account. HORRIBLE COMPANY! I mistakenly applied for a card through Credit One instead of Capital One. After receiving a statement saying I owed $30 and a $28 late fee, I immediately called them. After continuously being talked over by the rep, he agreed to waive the late fee and gave me a new due date. A few weeks later, I received a text saying I was late on another payment. Once again, I called Credit One. After the newest rep to deal with continued to speak over me, I requested to speak with a supervisor. I was on hold for over 30 minutes when she finally came on.

She told me the first guy I spoke with, misinformed me and she'd waive the late fee. I hung up with her and a few hours later, got on and paid the $75 annual fee in it's entirety, just so that I wouldn't ever have to deal with this company again. When I logged on, the amount showed that I owed a total of $77.12, of which $60 was due. This was again not reflecting what the supervisor had just quoted me. These people have lied to me over and over. I've never used this card and at this point, I never will!

When nobody else would approve me, This Bank was there for me when I needed them the most! If you’re going to have credit cards to pay interest and late fees and be Irresponsible, then of course you’re going to give a bad review... I was preapproved for a Credit One credit card so I applied. I was instantly approved for a $2100 credit limit. Before activating the credit card, I read my user agreement. The first thing I noticed (other than the high annual fee) was the daily interest model they use. You are charged interest every day so you will end up paying interest whether or not you pay the bill in full each month.

I read countless negative reviews but decided to keep the card anyways, as most bad reviews seemed to be a result of poor credit practices and as this is a credit rebuilding card, they are taking more of a risk than other creditors since they primarily target people with bad or no credit. Let me say that Credit One makes everything more difficult than it needs to be. For starters, I was patiently awaiting my annual fee to be charged since I’ve seen reviews that state customers didn’t know it was charged and then they received interest fees, late payment fees, and negative remarks on their credit reports. To prevent that from happening, I downloaded the app and signed up for daily balance alerts. One entire billing cycle went by and I wasn’t charged an annual fee even though the user agree states that the annual fee will be immediately withdrawn from your available credit.

Then lo and behold a couple of weeks later my daily alert showed a balance of $75. I immediately made an $80 payment to be sure I covered the interest. I was a little peeved that they charged me on an unexpected date and I could absolutely see how that could have led to late fees and late credit remarks but I anticipated this and planned accordingly. To me this practice was rather sketchy and added to the distrust I have of them.

Next they wanted me to verify my bank account for an $80 payment. The app stated that two small deposits would be made and that I had to verify them. I patiently waited and no such deposits were made. However my payment was withdrawn without any problems. I am however afraid to even use the card since my next payment they may request proof from my bank that I am authorized to use the account and most banks will NOT provide such a letter on their letterhead as Credit One requests for some reason. Such a request is silly, inconvenient and impractical.

The other problem I’ve experienced is 3 times already I’ve tried to login to my account only to be told that my password was wrong. My phone saves all my passwords and this is the only account I’ve had this problem with. Even entering the username and password manually I wasn’t able to login and had to reset my password 3 times! I imagine this must be the result of faulty software or data storage on their part and just adds to the inconvenience of this card.

I was going to keep the card in case of emergencies since I already paid the annual fee but I am afraid that if I make a large purchase I will not be able to make the payment due to their authorization polices and I will either have to pay the fee to make a next day payment over the phone (which I don’t really understand since you are still providing your bank info) or I’ll have to buy a money order and risk them claiming they didn’t receive it or holding on to it for too long. Both of those outcomes would ultimately add to additional interest due to their daily interest model. I think the reason they have such an impractical policy may be due to customers disputing the payments and as their clientele is comprised of mostly people with poor credit practices, they’ve probably been burned. However they should reserve such unnecessary authorization methods only from those that have disputed charges and/or payments.

Overall the card is useless as I am too afraid to use it and it’s way more trouble than it’s worth, at least for me. If you are genuinely trying to rebuild your credit and don’t mind all the hassles they inflict on their customers then this card may help you. However, if you are able to get a different credit card I highly suggest avoiding this one. The only reason I gave them 2 stars instead of 1 is because they give people a second or first chance at building credit...however, with their practices you may end up with a lower credit score than before. Beware, you’ve been warned!

A few months ago I had about $350 credit still left on there, I was making additional payments to pay it off. Well for some reason a payment that was processed didn’t go thru Bc I forgot to take the funds out of my other bank account and make them available (I can put funds in a virtual vault). So when I realized it a few hours later, I made them available and waited a few days and they never tried again to take the funds out and next thing I know, I can’t login into their site. So I call them and get someone in India apologizing for the inconvenience and she would be happy to help. Well, they didn’t help anything, the account had been closed because the payment did not go thru.

No phone call, no email, they didn’t try to process it again or anything. She said it was closed Bc of a failed payment,1 failed payment! “No payment was even due and this was an extra payment”, I tried to explain to her. It Didn’t matter, the account was closed, cannot reopen and after all the fees and everything I got a bill for 750! So I’m paying that off now Bc they immediately put that on my credit. It’s really a shame when you get a card like this to help your credit and it does the exact opposite! They know what they were doing, and know that it is wrong! Take your business to Capital One or somewhere else that is reliable because the customer service is horrible and so is the company! Hope this helps someone else for not falling for this. I mean, yeah it was my fault for not having the funds available, but they shouldn’t have immediately shut the card and my account down without trying to contact me!

After the first year they divide the annual fee in monthly installments that are deducted from your monthly payments. They force you to make payments online by only allowing you to only make payments using your checking account and it takes 4-5 days for processing. They give you an option to make payments and have funds available immediately but they charge you an extra $10 dollars to do so.

Their customer service are over in India and you can't understand what most of them are saying from their broken English. Lastly I made a payment on my due date and then I made another payment a few days later expecting it to be applied to the coming month's payment but instead they applied it to the same period as my prior payment and hit me with a 30 day late as well as a fee. They give you a $300 credit limit but $100 of that is already used up by their annual fee. Then they charged me another $7 just to get my card. So less than $200 is what you get. Then I added my bank account to my credit one profile so I could make frequent payments and keep my balance low. They make you jump though hoops just to use your own bank account. After going through that hassle I still wasn't allowed to pay my bill. I tried using their app and their website and just kept getting an error that I have to call customer service. So I called customer service and was left on hold.

No one ever comes to the phone to help you. I learned the hard way that the only way to get anyone on the phone is call back and select the option that card was stolen. Then someone answers right away. When someone finally did get on the line they barely spoke any English so you can't understand them. The employee kept telling me I was not allowed to pay my bill using my bank account until the day before it was due. They actually want you to not pay your bill on time so they can charge you a late fee. What legit company won't let you pay your bill early?! I told them I want to close my account with them since they won't let me pay my bill till the day before it's due. I became a Credit One Bank customer almost one year ago. I wanted to raise my credit and it seemed like a place to start the process. I've always paid on time, (if not well before), and I've always paid much more than the minimum, (at least a couple hundred dollars). All has been fine until today. I made my usual payment from my bank account and the payment cleared. I went to go food shopping and tried to use my Credit One card which was shockingly declined. When I got home, I checked the balance on the website and it clearly showed that there was plenty of money in the card. I called customer service to find out what the issue was. Four calls with their "customer service" and an hour and a half at the bank later, they arbitrarily put a block on my account and needed proof that I am myself through means that aren't possible.

They asked for a bank letter head with my bank statement, meanwhile I've been making payments from the same and only bank account I have this whole year. The bank teller even got on the phone to inform customer service that they don't write letters for individual people and asked if a voided check would be enough. Credit one kept giving the run around and said that I have to wait until I get my bank statement, (which isn't due until next week) and send them a picture of that. I even tried to sign into the app to read about the policy and now my login magically doesn't work. I've never had a problem like this before with them or anybody. I intend to close the account. Have them explain the fixed annual charges, the interest charges and when you can find the balance unchanged before making payment so you can follow the seesaw balance, I really classify this kind of business ethics unethical business practices!

I have used their credit card for quite a while now. I always made my payments on time. I never had any issue with them until last year. I submitted my payment as I usually do and they accidentally took the whole balance due from my checking account instead. I called them up right away. I was told to talk to my bank so I did just that. My bank reversed the withdrawal as an unauthorized withdrawal and put my money back into my account. Ever since then I have had nothing but problems with them. I begged to have my card shut off so I could get it paid, they refused.

I asked several times. I then also found I was being charged for some insurance that I never signed up for. They finally closed the account but reported it to my credit report that they closed the account, not by my request. I put in a complaint and then they decided to write off my account and send it to collections. This is just plain wrong. I made my payments each month on time up to the date they decided to send it to collections.

I opened a Credit One Bank credit card due to an emergency. After paying off the balance, I called in to close the credit card because I didn't want to keep paying the annual fee, which is actually broken down into monthly charges unlike other credit cards I've had with annual fees. To keep me as a customer, they offered to waive the fees and give me a $25 credit if I kept the card open, so I agreed. Everything was fine at first, but after about 5 months they started charging me the fees again, conveniently after I racked up a new balance. I figured there was a mistake, but when I called in the rep I spoke to refused to acknowledge the agreement or even credit back that month's fee that I did not agree to. I would've closed it in the first place if I would've known they would bait and switch like that.

I again asked them to close this credit card and they made sure to let me know that they will keep charging me the fees until the balance is paid off regardless of it being closed or not. I will never do business with them again. I've worked with numerous creditors and never had a problem with any of them until now so I feel that says a lot!

After what seemed an eternity of trying to communicate I finally gave up and said I'd call back at a different time, hoping that I would get to talk to someone in the USA. I received an email today saying my account had been closed even though I didn't authorize the closure. I called back today and again had to speak with someone who was English challenged. I got this card for my husband to build his credit back up. He now has two of them. They have done their job for positive reports to the credit bureau. One card has $99 annual fee, the other is $60 annually. BOTH have a $19.00 annual fee for authorized users, any credit limit increase has to be PAID FOR - yeah there is a charge for that too. Authorized users are treated like dirt. Any other bank I'm able to contact with a name change (marriage), or dispute a charge. Credit One requires my husband to contact them with my name change, even though if I have a marriage certificate, it's obvious that he already agreed to change my name to his.

I ordered my husband a personalized gift. A surprise. A SECRET!!!! Now I need to dispute the charge and they REQUIRE HIM to file the dispute. They even refused to provide ME the fax number to send the dispute. Capital One changed my name immediately upon filing the legal proof with them that my name changed. Capital One allows me to dispute fraudulent charges, or items not received. After yesterday's conversation and even the refusal of the fax number to me, I applied him for another Capital One card, which I will be transferring these balances to IMMEDIATELY so I can close these cards.

Their online system is also sub-par. When I make a charge, it takes DAYS to be able to see that reflected in the balance on the app or website. Our other credit cards show new charges before even walking from the cash register to the car. When the statement is "ready" per the text alert I get, it is never actually ready. I had to wait 3 days to view it this month. Yeah, the card has done its job to bump up his credit score, but its usefulness no longer outweighs the high fees, terrible customer service, and sub-par online access. If you need a credit card to build credit, try Capital One FIRST!!!! This company is a complete joke.

Over the years with them I've come to believe that this confusion of their customers may be deliberate; the objective seems to be to trap their customers into "owing" more interest. They have limits on number of payments per month, the confusion and misinformation contribute to late payment unless an "express fee" (almost $10.00) is paid to ensure a payment is registered on time. Otherwise you may find that money you paid online might not be posted on time. I now believe this company goes right up to the line of illegality to manipulate their vulnerable subprime members. ZERO STARS! Credit One Bank and credit cards are an easy way to learn a hard lesson! They remove $75 off your credit limit for a fee right from the start. So your $300 limit automatically is $225. Their interest is unreal and if you are late, they tack on the late fees so you can't pay that in addition to what you already owed either. Don't default tho! They'll keep your account open for many months, reporting all this on your credit. Then they sell your account to a collection agency that reports on your credit too while C1B continues to report your debt to your report as well. C1B reports the balance increases each month (from an account that supposedly belongs to the collection agency), they report the accruing number of days that you're late and report negative remarks on the account that again, now belongs to the collection company that bought it.

Oh! After disputing all this, C1B finally remarks that the account is a charge off of a bad debt and then finally they say it's closed... All while still reporting the increases in the balance and accruing days late. Nice! Looks like more disputes to come! SO... if you're credit isn't great and they offer you a small amount of credit to rebuild or start your credit, don't fall for it! When something happens and you can't make your payment, it's the beginning of Credit One waging war against you! I'm still cleaning up their mess on my credit report and I don't know if my credit report will ever be correct. BE AWARE! BUILD YOUR CREDIT ANOTHER WAY! This bank is operating in the 1900 century, when this is the electronic era. This bank doesn't allow customers to make payments more than four (4) payments per month. This is the most outrageous policy I've ever heard from a credit card company. I went to make a payment today and this is what I got "We are unable to process your request. Please contact Customer Service at 1-877-825-3242. Message Notes 1/25/2020 Payment Limit: You have reached your payment limit. Four payments have been received within a 30-day period." This is unbelievable and I do not think this is even legal. No company can deny me the right to make a payment whenever I want.

I called and they said the same thing, then I asked the girl to cancel the credit card immediately and she transferred me to a different department where a guy answered and offered me a $10.00 discount for not canceling the card to which I did not accept. He said that Credit One Ban is not denying me the right to pay, that I can go and get a MoneyGram and email it to them. Have anyone heard such a request from a customer that wants to pay off the active balance on the credit card? Never heard this before. I just cancel the credit card and I do not want to hear or know anything more about this credit card company/bank. However, I will keep following up to be sure they did cancel the credit card and as soon as I am able to pay off the balance of $28.94 will request a cancellation letter stating that the card has been canceled by the cardholder, not by the Credit One Bank.

My husband and I had a card with a $300 limit. The first thing Credit One did was charge the whole $75 annual fee up front, when over the phone we were told it would be split up over 12 months. Later down the road, my husband and I were divorced, we were to pay off the card and close the account. Before I could pay off the card online, it required a bank verification process before it would let us. Then after you confirm their debits/credits made to your account a few days later, we were able to pay it off online. Then when I tried to call back to close it, they had added a $19 user fee to the credit card account, and would not close it until that new fee was paid. Due to our divorce decree, this account needed to be closed permanently but the customer service rep kept refusing to do so. He wanted to give us a $50 credit towards the 19 charge, leave the card open with a $30 credit, which was not needed.

I had to ask this rep to close the account 4 or 5 times and to just credit their fraud fee of $19. He finally did close it after I had to yell at him. Not sure what is wrong with these people, but instead of helping you build up bad credit, they are totally taking advantage and should be an F with the Better Business Bureau. Our divorce decree said the card had to be closed---but they don't want you to pay it off ever, they just want to keep dinging you with charges.

I then spoke to a supervisor, and then a manager, just trying to get a direct line number to call back and give to the police when I file a report. Apparently, they do not have a direct line. Did this several months in a row, and spoke to the operator stating they still didn't close the account. Then the operator would speak to the supervisor and was given the approval of closing the account and not having to pay the annual fee.

After several months we were getting monthly bills with a 0 balance. Then after a half year, our credit score declined because they posted a late fee of 350 dollars for over 120 days late. I filed for a dispute on the TransUnion and Equifax, but they sent back a note stating the fee was correct. But at the same time we received a check from credit one for the entire late fee. Once you get the card and don't want it, it's an uphill battle to cancel it, you'll end up speaking to an operator, then they will repeatedly state that they can't do that, but then they'll speak to a supervisor who supposedly closed the account, but in reality doesn't happen, and will be posted on your credit score.

I was very hesitant, but after their pre approval I allowed them to conduct a hard check of my credit. Then I received an approval code stating I was receiving their Platinum Visa Card with a 2,000.00 limit. Three weeks later I received a card with a 300.00 limit, minus their 75.00 fee? LOL! The credit check was done, which is already a negative! If I do not activate and use their visa card that will appear as another negative against me!

I'm filing a complaint through the attorney general's office against Credit One Bank and Experian. In my opinion, this is a scam. A credit line of 300.00 will not help your credit score until you hit 2 years or so. Not to mention, if you apply for other credit that 300.00 limit will be the proverbial Albatross around your neck. I think I got a couple of if bills paid and a few groceries. I got gas once and I know I made my first minimum payment early.

I needed to know how long payment would take (longest one I had ever seen I think it's like 7 business days and the credit I guess doesn't go back in your card for another 12) because I had more cash back in mind and I tried out Amazon wardrobe for my kids. I needed a credit card to start. I figured I better pay down the balance to ensure the available credit was sufficient and made a bigger payment on it and I got an alert from my bank wanting verification and I had to contact fraud prevention and cancel the alert and it said I had to reapply the charge from the credit card account. I bet I spent a week trying to log back in before Credit One closed my account and I wasn't late on my payment. I was making a second payment and my bank put a hold on the transaction and Credit One closed my account and now I cant access any online payment methods.

I explained it all to some guy. I couldn't even understand half of what he was saying who was very unhelpful and I got the impression that he does this all the time. So I started looking for any other means of online payment services to deal with payments on the now closed account before the next month's payment is due but these guys don't seem to accept any and the guy on the phone who I really don't want to talk to again mentioned in thick accent the ten dollar fee for paying by phone and worst of all my credit rating which I had managed to get to 640 is now at 613. So in my experience with this company I would definitely caution anyone who is thinking about getting a card from them or believing they help with building credit. They even charged me $365 for a hotel stay in another state that I never used...it's really comedic. I refused to pay and it's been on going for 6 months. Of course I closed the account. Be very wary of doing business with Credit One Bank. They do everything they can to ensure that you will be late on your payment in order to extract exorbitant fees. Fortunately, I paid my bill early, but just a few days before the bill would have been due they locked my online account. That makes paying the bill nearly impossible without--you guessed it--having to pay an exorbitant fee to express pay it via phone.

The online account lockout was completely bogus because I'd used the same device to both check the account and pay the bill previously. They claimed it was a "new device" and sent a text message with an authorization code. I received the code and duly entered it, only for it to fail three times. This was not rocket science on my end. I can read and type fairly accurately. When I called customer service as instructed on the screen I was told to wait 24 hours and try again! Really! As far as I'm concerned this was unfairly putting the burden on me to work with their system, which is either defective or purposefully made to make it harder for their customers to transact business with them. Therefore I'm going to sever my relationship with them ASAP, in order to avoid being scammed.

I have had two (2) separate cards with this company for several years. I never complained about the annual fee that turned into a monthly fee of $8.95 per month. I never complained about the $9.95 fee they charged just to make my payment ($9.95 per payment, and you better make that payment with your debit card. Because even if you made the payment with an EFT check online & paid the fee, you would have to wait a minimum of 7 days for the payment to post. I called this the payment MAFIA system!). But the final straw was...Black Friday, I paid off my card with the same payment method I have been using for years. I went to use my card last week, and my card was declined.

Today 12-09-19, I received a letter stating they "BLOCKED MY ACCOUNT" because they were "UNABLE TO VERIFY MY PAYMENT." The payment cleared my account at Bank of America on 12-02-19. I called them today to find out what the issue was and why they froze my account. I also mentioned that I have never had a returned payment or been late in all the time I have had the card. I also reminded them that they make me put in my social security number when I go to make my payment online, and I have to confirm my payment information three (3) separate times. They reiterated what the letter said. I told them I could do a screenshot of the payment and show them it was the same account I had used for years to make payments and that it was my account.

I also offered them a bank statement. They stated I would need a letter from Bank of America on letterhead that verifies the owner of the checking account matches the name on the credit card account and that the payment received was authorized by the owner. She also stated this document must include a name and phone number of a contact at the financial institution. Mind you; this is at Christmas time. Are you serious?! Nope don't think so. So I asked to close the card. She says she will need to get a supervisor to help me with that. After being on the phone with these fools for 24 minutes & 38 seconds, I ended the call. I will write a letter to them and file complaints and reviews anywhere and everywhere I can.

BTW - This is after trying to use my card while I was in Mexico last year, and they refused to authorize transactions even though I notified them I would be traveling there. I even called them from Mexico, and they still refused to let me use my card. I will never do business with these people again. I paid off my other card today, and once it shows a $0 balance, I will close both cards! Mind you; these cards have minimal Credit Limits of $1,850 & $1,150. I will just use my Amex or BOA Card or USAA Cards that have $5k to $16.5K credit limits. If you want to be treated like dirt, go ahead and use these fools!

I recently discovered (during a monthly review of my credit scores) that not only was I issued a card from this company with a $500 limit (Oct 27), the card had a balance of $519 (as of 12/6). Of course, I filed a dispute with all 3 bureaus and Credit One, but the really puzzling part is that all 3 bureaus list my credit as frozen (I froze it in August) and there are NO hard inquiries to my credit prior to being issued this card (which I never would have requested).

On a similar note, my wife does have a card through them, which has also been hacked. She froze it in August (same time as I froze my credit), but they have since reissued the card twice without authorization and her online account keeps getting changed (they tell her it is her that is making the changes - it is not). On that card, there are over $500 in cash advances (we have cash in savings and debit cards for easy access w/o fees), and as recently as Black Friday, over $1k in new charges at stores we never go to (Ross, Walmart). Again, this company is allowing this rampant theft to continue without any intervention or even giving us enough details to file a police report.

I started with Credit One approximately 2 years ago. If I could cancel these cards I would but it would hurt my credit more canceling these cards then just keeping a low balance. The start of my problems occurred when I deployed in back in April 2019. I had to mail in documents showing that I was deployed in order to lower my interest rate while I'm deployed. I had to do this because credit one doesn't have any email apparently. So customers cannot scan documents to this company. Anyways, I continued to mail in documents for the next couple of months and someone in their mail department kept either losing my mail or shredding it or threw it away. One time you can be okay with but 4 separate times is ridiculous.

I finally went home on emergency leave and had to hand walk my documents into their corporate building and complain about their mailroom. After these documents were received it took another 60 days for it to go into effect. After calling their customer service line which is, by the way, completely worthless because all they do is read from a paper because English is their second language, I was able to talk with account managers who kept telling me that they need to verify the information if military orders. I will tell you what. I also have a capital one card and I called them one day right before deploying and they verified everything over the phone right then and there that day and everything was handled extremely efficiently. If you want terrible customer service and when they transfer you to a manager, it sounds like the same person you just got done talking too. Then choose credit one. The worst credit card I have ever had.

Paid the card off later that month and asked it to be closed. They informed me that I had lost the dispute and charged my card $160 on August 2nd without even telling me!!!

Started getting phone calls this week about $177.04 that I owe them apparently stemming from this $160 charge. They claim that since the dispute was denied, they charged my account the $160 because it was a temporary credit that was reversed. They never informed me that they were giving me a temporary credit, either via snail mail or posting it on my statement. The amount of this temporary credit, which was actually a credit issued by the WEB SITE that I had requested, isn't $160!!! The information they put on my statement for this charge is not truthful. They claimed the web site charged me the $160 when they actually charged me!! Spoke to customer service and he lied right to my face. I told him I have written proof that the $140 credit came from the merchant and not them. He told me to dispute the charge. I've filed a complaint with the Nevada Attorney General's office.

While I appreciate Credit One as a company willing to give credit to those with bad credit, a find it a MAJOR con that they downright harass you about late payments. I mixed up the dates on when payments were due on my cards and paid one a few days early, and was late on the other. I would have caught my mistake a few days later and paid it before it showed up on my credit history as late, but I wasn't given the chance. THE DAY AFTER my missed payment was due, I started receiving calls. I keep my phone's ringtone on while I sleep due to the nature of my work, and I received SEVEN phone calls between 8 am and 1pm ON THE SAME DAY.

I often work late nights and spend this time sleeping. When I saw the calls weren't from work, I continued to ignore them. Whoever was calling DID NOT LEAVE A MESSAGE so I assumed the 800 number was spam. Finally, I answered, furious and demanding as to who needed to get a hold of me so direly that they could not leave a message for me to call them back later, but instead insisted on blowing up my phone until I answered. It was a customer service representative who informed me that I was late on a payment and that I should pay immediately to avoid a derogatory mark on my credit score for a late payment. I informed the agent that I was trying to sleep for work and I'd look into it later when I woke up, but the woman INSISTED that I take the time to pay right then over the phone. I hung up on her.

And then I received another FOUR phone calls before the clock even hit 5 pm, all of them also without a voicemail. I eventually answered again, in a foul mood and demanding answers. When I figured out my mishap, I paid my $8 statement balance + a late fee. When I demanded to know why it was necessary to harass me about it with back to back phone calls and no voicemails, I received a non-explanation about how the company worries about the credit health of its customers.

The next month, it happened again. I nearly forgot to pay, but paid my credit card on the day it was due a little before midnight, and apparently it didn't register by 8am the next day in their system as payment pending. I was running errands after work when the phone calls started. I was so irritated to see that 800 number again that I ignored several calls (and - surprise - there were no voicemails from the caller). Eventually I answered and fought my case that I had sent in a payment the day before. The woman assured me that it wasn't in their system and did I have a confirmation number? I did, and gave it to her. She told me that the system may not have updated with it yet and that she would make a note for someone to check my account the next day and "reach out to me" if need be.

I honestly wonder if they harass people who make late payments JUST to give people more incentive to pay on time. It's not a tactic that I appreciate in the least. I've built up my credit since I first got this card, and I'm going to cancel it only because I cannot stand to be this harassed about a late payment. I try not to make a habit of paying my bills late, but when I do, I do not want to be hounded like this. I'd rather they just slap me with a late fee and let me deal with the fallout.

This is the Credit One's bank fault not my checking information. I went ahead the first time and paid fees involved with that payment being returned figuring that maybe I entered something wrong in the information so instead of using my checking account I deducted the first payment out of my savings and paid the fees however when I went to make the second payment using my checking account again it did not go through again.

I called the company and depending on who you speak with is what information you get. No one is concise. No one is on the same page. No one actually follows through with what they say they are going to do so now I am having to go to my bank and get a verification letter from them stating that the account information that I entered is actually and correct. I have to wait 7 to 10 days for my bank to issue this by mail then I have to email credit one this verification letter and then once they have verified that this account the representative I spoke with this morning said that it would take 7 to 10 business days on their end to process it in the Interim on my credit report.

They have now closed the account so it is negatively impacting my credit!!! Be very leery of this company when doing business. They never do what they say they’re going to do and whenever it is their problem they do not take responsibility for it. I will get this card back open, Pay it off and then close out the account. I signed up and got a credit card from Credit One Bank. I’m having some issues with my credit and I was looking for ways to improve my credit score. They approved a credit card for me at A maximum amount of $300 however they do take $75 of that money right away so you’re basically only getting $225 credit line. I used the card because I was out of work due to no fault of my own for a short period of time. My first payment was due and I believe it was $25 that was the minimum balance. I didn’t have too much in my account so I paid $30 on the Credit One app. It showed that I paid the $30 on the app for several days. After realizing that the money was still in my account I went to the app and I was locked out and it said to call customer service which I did.

They said that my bank or the card that I used which is through my job denied the payment. Now I’ve paid bills, I’ve made purchases, I’ve taken money out with the ATM with this card and never had a problem until this Credit One issue. I ended up calling back the next day and the next person told me that I put a stop payment on the $30 that I paid. Why would I make a payment a couple days before it was due and then put a stop payment on it? It doesn’t make any sense and it never happened. I’ve spoke to several customer service representatives from this company and there was one man that said he was going to deal with this issue himself from now on however I never got his name that was my mistake.

I decided to pay a substantial Amount on what I owed Credit One because I wanted to show all payments in good standing and pay most of it down. After I made that payment and was waiting for the statement to come in the mail so that I could prove to them that I didn’t put a stop payment on the $30 payment and the bank never denied it either. I found out not only was I blocked out of the app but they shut my card off as well. I feel like they basically lent me $225 for a $75 fee and now I can no longer use the card and it has made my credit score go down substantially.

However I am still working with them and we will see the outcome but from what I have concluded after speaking with several customer service reps and explaining the situation it doesn’t seem as though they’re going to turn my card back on. The whole thing feels like a scam to me. I mean it’s one thing to charge a $75 fee because it’s usually people that have low or no credit that they give this card to but it’s totally different when you pay it before it’s due and they say that it’s the bank's fault or my fault when it is neither and I have proof of that which I am sending them. I doubt it will get me anywhere but the whole point of this was to help my credit score not to make it go down so in the future I know not to use these cards.

I can recommend that the Chime card which is just a prepaid card. It is not a credit card but it does not charge fees and if you go to certain ATMs it doesn’t even charge you an ATM fee and you can go right to local stores in your area And load money onto it for a fee usually under $5. At this point I would certainly rather use a prepaid card then be ripped off by a company that didn’t even give me a chance. The $30 was the first payment and then I basically paid almost all of it off but yet they still shut my card off and I highly doubt they’re going to turn it back on. Use your own judgment on which card you decide to apply for or use because even though it’s a legitimate card doesn’t mean they don’t do shady things. And maybe it wasn’t anything shady.

It may have just been something to do with paying the $30 online on their app. I was looking through and I see that there has been several problems with their app recently that it wasn’t working so maybe that’s what happened and I will bring that up to them but as of right now I would highly not recommend this card for anyone whether you have low or no credit. It’s not worth it because my credit score went down a lot And maybe it wasn’t anything shady. I have a Capital One credit card and this would never happen with them. I have had several Capital One credit cards in the past and now and I’ve never ran into a problem with them at all and certainly nothing like this where I’m getting a different story from each rep that I talk to. If I didn’t have to give them the one star I wouldn’t even of given them that. I hope they turn this around and do the right thing once I send them all of my proof but I don’t see that happening. Good luck if you’re a Credit One customer!!!

I closed and paid off my Credit One card 6 mos ago and opened a credit one card with a lower credit limit. I keep getting statements re: my closed acct monthly even though I've called and have proof in a letter they sent. I called yesterday to once again try to get this fixed. I called and had the same problem with a female rep I've had before with her rudeness. She wanted my full social security number in order to help me even though I gave her my last 4 digits, address, phone number and password. I've talked to other reps before who have been able to help with last 4 digits only and no credit card company asks me for my full SS # anymore just last 4. She stated she was then not able to help me without my full SS #! I asked to speak with a supervisor she put me on hold into utter oblivion because after 10 minutes no supervisor came on the line. Did she perhaps not want to get in trouble? I hung up and called back.

Talked to another rep who took care of the problem and asked me what happened. He put me with a supervisor who I must have interrupted polishing her broomstick because she was incredibly rude. She said she looked at the computer and said that rep said I gave no verification! I most certainly did. I gave it all and my last 4 but she falsified what really happened. The manager took her side. I have had the same problem with this rep before. I do think she's a scammer and I requested the recording of the conversation which the manager said it would take up to 30 days to retrieve. I always give my verification info but am never asked for my full SS #. A bunch of bull. Be very careful if you have a credit one card and never give your whole SS # to any customer rep. I am extremely concerned.

Turns out it was just $250 that posted to my statement balance + a $20 fee, which was then reported as used credit to credit bureaus. Despicable business practice with misleading marketing. I called customer service 3 times and each time they told me, "Yes that is correct." I didn't agree to two fees. I only agreed to one fee!!! How is this even legal? On their website it says a fee of 9.95 for express and your credit will be available within 24 hr. FYI that is a lie. Over 5 days later I am still waiting for my credit but the best part, cash has been withdrawn from my account already. Wow so if you decide to get a Credit One card customer service sucks and no one speaks clear English. They can't help with fees nor do they listen to customer's concern.

I got a 25 fee at bank, a late fee from them and negative the amount I owed. The next time I paid they did it again. I called again and still no help with fees, took info again on correct numbers and supposed to take all other account info out. This week it's happened for the 3rd time. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS CARD AND THESE PEOPLE! I hate to be so unprofessional with my review, but I am beyond pissed off with this company. It's what I deserve after reading such bad reviews on the company and card to begin with and going along with it anyway. I needed a secured card. At the time, I didn't qualify for a Capital One Secured Card which was recommended. So I went with this 3rd world, back alley, shady, company. NEVER do it. I applied for the card. Honestly everything was going great up until the end. There was fraud on my card -- it was from Amazon, someone had charged the card over $200. Obviously I immediately called them and informed them of this. The only good thing they've ever done was issue me a "temporary credit" of the lost amount (which took almost 3 weeks to put through) and gave me a new card.

Everything was as it should be before last week, when I go to pay my bill, my card is nearly $200 higher of a balance than it normally is. I call them immediately and they proceed to tell me that the investigation concluded and that they found no fraud. So not only did I have to call them to tell me that, but they're dumb enough to believe I attempted to max my card out on some amazon purchases. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I told them that I refuse to pay any balance until that investigation was put through again and my credit was issued back onto my account. The guy I was talking to -- again, severe language barrier -- ended up hanging up on me after I said that. Can you believe the nerve of these people? I ended up calling back and telling them to cancel out my card.

Case in point, don't go with these shady-as-hell, agrabah type companies. Stick with something more practical like a Chase credit card or if you need a secured card, go with a credible one like capital one. These guys are so awful. The desperation is not worth it. Please, please don't go with this company, for your own sake!!!

DO NOT CHOOSE CREDIT ONE CREDIT CARDS!

    1. Their automated phone information system does NOT even offer customers a method to speak to a human being.
    2. Their Customer Service is fraudulent and incompetent. Their employees are trained to say "I'm sorry" to ANY complaint a customer makes, but no matter how valid that criticism, they do absolutely nothing to correct the original problem.

    3. If you pay off your entire balance -- they STILL charge the customer the APR on any transactions that occurred after the last statement.

FOR EXAMPLE: Your billing cycle for the month ends on the 26th of every month. On the 27th, you see that your total balance for that month (after adding your monthly APR and your pro-rated monthly annual fee charges) is $125. On the 28th (two days after your billing cycle closed) you make a purchase for $25. On the 29th you send Credit One an electronic payment from your checking account Bill Pay system for $153 ($125 for all charges shown at end of billing cycle on the 26th PLUS the entire amount ($25) which you purchased on the 28th AND a small additional amount ($3) to make sure you zero-out your balance. That payment is electronic, so it is processed that very night and Credit One sees your payment (credit) on the 29th.

You call Credit One on the 30th and you CANCEL your credit card. Because your electronic payment on the 29th was immediately credited, Credit One sees that you do not owe them anything AND you actually have a $3 credit because you overpaid what you owed. Even though you have paid your ENTIRE balance and they have cancelled your credit card -- Credit One tells you that they will NOT immediately refund your overpayment of $3.00. Instead, Credit One continues to charge you their outrageously high APR. Why? Because of that $25 purchase you made on the 28th (2 days after your previous billing cycle ended).

Furthermore, if you call Credit One, their employee will tell you that Credit One will NOT send you any refund of money due to you for 30 days! Why? Because this is a DISHONEST company which gouges customers for every penny they can get. Notice that payments BY a customer are processed immediately BUT any credit for a customer overpayment is deliberately (as a matter of bank policy) delayed for 30 days.

Lastly, there is no such thing as "Customer Service" by Credit One Bank. Their automated system is designed to make it as difficult as possible for a customer to get any kind of direct human assistance. Furthermore, no matter how much information you give to their employees (including the info you must first input into your phone BEFORE you can even speak to a human being--assuming you figure out how to reach a human), they still ask for ALL that same information again. Their "Customer Service" reps are robotic idiots that NEVER engage common sense or good judgment.

I spent a good portion paying for groceries and helping getting my car fixed. Now as I mentioned, the credit limit is meant to be $300. What they don't inform you of is the $75 fee, just for making your first purchase. So at the end of the first month, I owed $325, because of the added fees and interest. I tried to contact Credit One to receive some answers. You soon find out that the "company" is a scam company where they and certain other "companies" will give you the opportunity to receive a card but charge you almost 150% in interest just for making that first purchase. They also charge you $99 a year, over the year.

I actually cancelled the card at the end of the first month. Did that stop the continuous amounts of charges? No it did not. The amount I owe now is $545 and this is while I'm only able to pay $25-$30 a month. I am also on Social Security Disability, so I can't afford anymore. I am also bombarded with non-stop calls as to when I can pay the amount off. The amount they charge is $100+ a month for a payment and since I can only pay $25-30 month, I'm given an extra fee and there is also a purchase charge. For what I have no idea. I don't know if I will ever get out of paying this scam. I would love to have a class action lawsuit against Credit One Bank. My credit score has dropped even further. Avoid this at all cost

Don’t apply for this card...even if your life depends on it. I applied and was approved but never received my card in the mail. When I called to tell them, I was told they would “look into it”. A few days later I received 4 pieces of mail, all with different inquiry numbers, telling me that I could be approved for a card because...You have an account with us that is either still open or is unpaid. Seriously?!? Is this for the card I never received?!?! Funnier still, the “customer” guy, who is obviously ESL, tells me to just wait a couple of weeks and reapply!!! I hung up and attributed that suggestion to language and cultural barriers and not insanity...because I’d have to be INSANE to ever apply for this card again!!!

I have credit around 650 and am working on raising it so getting a credit card. This company sent a letter saying I was preapproved for $2000. I got the card and it has a limit of $425 credit and $125 cash advance. They charge an annual fee up front of $75 on the first billing cycle plus $19 to add an extra card (for my daughter). I spent around $400. And went to check payment due date from the customer service number on the card. They said I owe $535.41. I checked online to view my statement for transaction history but it only showed the $94. No transaction history and didn't explain that charge either. The representative I talked to next from the customer service number said she didn't know why my transaction history wasn't showing up. That I needed to call the tech support on Monday. Closed weekends. I decided to call back and just pay since it's due on the 18th. Which is weird also since the billing cycle ends on the 22nd.

They have some weird stuff here I'm guessing as a way to charge extra fees if people think they need to pay on the end of the billing cycle, which I thought, until I called. When I went to call and pay by phone they only offer an express payment option at a cost of $9.00. I asked if I could just make a normal payment without the fee, and she just did a one time payment without fee. She also gave me actual useful information. Transaction history is listed in the overview section on the website. I am charged a DAILY average balance interest of 18%. I was going to pay before the due date to avoid interest charges, not gonna happen. Annual interest rate is an additional 26%. This card will help me gain credit. Not many other banks would have given me a card. However, I will be canceling as soon as my score goes up enough to get out of the extremely heavy fees they charge. It is ridiculous.

I used card couple times, paid off entire balance first month but they would not release funds for 7 days even though their website showed my account was updated following day. I tried to use card at McDonalds for $17.00, but Bank One only allowed me $15.00, they placed a limit on me even though my online account with them showed zero balance and last statement paid in full. I called customer service which they don’t advertise or list in their automated system, you have to hit “0” to get a live person. They told me my transaction for the McDonald's was paid for the $17, but online says only $15. I had to used another card with my bank to pay balance of $2.00 which I have receipt for. They would not cancel my account, very unhappy with company and customer service. DON’T USE THEM!

HIGH INTEREST RATES: I would not recommend this card. It was easy to get, but the interest rates and credit protection charges are high. So, it's really hard to get ahead if you're trying to pay down your balance. For instance, after 6 months of making just minimum payments, I only paid down $150 out of $1,500 total.

SLOW PAYMENT PROCESSING: There are two ways to make payments. The standard payments are free and will deduct from your checking account in about a day, but it will take up to 7 business days before it will become available to use on your card. There is an express option, but it costs $9.95. The upside is that you can also use a debit card to make a payment. The downside is that only $100 dollars of your payment will reflect immediately on your card's balance. You still have to wait up to 7 business days for anything above that amount to show up.

DECLINES LARGE PURCHASES: You might have issues making large purchases at your local retailer, even if the store is in the same city as your billing address. For instance, I went to make a $700 purchase at Walmart, which is only about a mile up the road from where I live. The card was declined, which was embarrassing enough, and when I called the customer service line, they said it was a security measure and that my funds would be released in the next 15 minutes. I didn't wait; I just used another form of payment. From that point forward, I only used my Credit One Bank card for small and insignificant purchases, because I wanted to avoid having my card suspended at a time when I might really need it.

POINTLESS ACCOUNT VERIFICATION: Occasionally, you will be asked to verify your bank account information before you can make any further online payments. This is very frustrating, because you have to wait up to 10 business days for the credit card company to make two small deposits into your checking account that you then must verify online before you can access the payment portal. I had been using the same checking account for over 4 years, and this happened after I made a payment twice in a 30 day time span.

I spoke to customer service, and they claimed this was a fraud protection measure for my "security," even though I have never experienced this with any other credit card. Usually, most reputable card companies don't discourage their customers from making online payments. Legitimate fraud protection measures are usually meant to protect people from fraudulent purchases, since most "bad guys" aren't going to waste their time paying your bills for you. So, I reject their reasoning in this particular case.

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE: All of the phone agents I have spoken to have foreign accents, which may be frustrating for many U.S. based customers. I actually found them quite easy to understand, but the fact that you're talking to somebody who sounds like they're not in the United States may decrease your overall confidence in the card company and its employees. For instance, when I asked this person a question about the unnecessary bank account verification, it was clear to me that he was reading from a script and wasn't really interested in hearing why I was frustrated. The phone agent's constant interrupting to tell me that he "understood my concerns" was proof to me that he really didn't understand them at all. Ultimately, I don't spend on this card at all. I'm in the process of paying it off and then I will close the account for good. I will never get another card from this company, and I suggest that others do the same.

I opened an account thinking that it was a good company, I was wrong. Once I opened the account and provided my banking information they did the usual account deposit and withdrawal and ask you to verify the amounts. I did that online. Then they suspended my account and sent me a letter requesting that I go to the bank and get a letter of verification that it was indeed my account. I did that and mailed it to them. My account was still suspended. I called and was informed that I was late on a payment, mind you that I had yet to charge anything on the account. So I provided my bank account information and they accepted the payment. My account was still suspended.

I contacted customer service and was informed that the information I provided to verify my banking information was not complete, even though they processed a payment with my account. So by this point I have made payments for a card that I hadn't even used yet. They informed me that I needed to go to my bank and get another letter of verification and that it must include the deposit and withdrawal amounts. I explained that I am disabled and that I was unable to go through the runaround again since they already had all of the pertinent information and had used my bank account for a payment. I informed them that I was very unimpressed with the company practices and that I would inform the BBB of my displeasure.

So they put me on hold to talk to a supervisor. I talked to the supervisor and relayed the same information. They wanted me to talk to another supervisor and put me on hold again. Well I talked to the individual and repeated all of the information once again. That person gave me the same runaround and told me that they needed another letter from my bank for verification. By this point I had made all payments that were due on the account (just membership fees, I had not been able to use the account at all) and they informed me that my account was closed and would consider reopening the account. Are you kidding me, why would I want to do business with a company like them. So now I have paid membership fees, never got to use the account, and it is closed. I would strongly discourage anyone from doing business with this company. I guess their motto is, "You need us. We don't need you or your business."

Credit One charges you a yearly fee. This I did not see prior to getting card - my fault not theirs as it is in the fine print - but once you have the card you get the charge regardless if you decide you do not want the card. So I figure, my bad, and I pay the fee. But then I get billed 1.31 for interest on the 75 dollar yearly fee. So I pay the total once again. Now I have yet to use this card. I don't even want it but I am stuck with it so I will make it the emergency card. So I paid the yearly fee in full. I paid the interest on the yearly fee in full. Today I get billed yet another 75 dollar yearly fee. I try to contact their customer service but I get dead air. Now what? If I do not pay this extra fee my credit (which I am trying to improve) will take yet another beating. This is not good. Not good at all. Set up for failure is what it is.

I would not recommend this card, there are other cards that are similar that I got and have no problems. Fairly easy process to get the card, and very useful to have a card to rebuild credit, but after using it for months and making payments, once I used my bank account to pay instead of their high-fee debit payment option, they froze my account and require a bank verification letter to prove I am authorized to make payments from my own bank account? Keep in mind there is no problem with my payments clearing, but for some reason they said they think another family member is making the payments?

That makes NO SENSE because I don't have family members, and the account is in my name, so who else would make the payments, ridiculous! 72 hours before they will answer me if they even received the fax, and then 7-10 business days to validate my letter before they will lift the suspension on my account? When I told my bank what this credit card company is asking for, they said it is shady because there was no problem with the payment from my own account. I read other people's internet posts about this same problem, and I hear that after the 7-10 days they will close the account and mark it as "Bank closed card". We shall see.

We disputed the charges, got our money back and all was good. Until we got our new cards in the mail. I have 2 cards thru this bank. Had no problem until I made a second payment on one this month, I thought that would be a good thing? But since I had already made one online, pay all my bills online. It said that I could not make another payment until I verify my checking acct. again? I thought this was strange but it gets much worse. So I entered the 2 small deposits they made in my acct. And it said my acct. was verified. Now I can make another payment so I did, it just so happened that I had some extra money this month and wanted to pay down some debt. So I made the 2nd payment. When I checked my checking acct. I saw that they took out 3 payments instead of 2. So I call them, always get the same man I can hardly understand and it seems like he's the only 1 who works there.

Anyway I told him the problem and he told me, "Sorry the payments have all posted, nothing I can do." So I called my bank and told them I made 2 payments and they could see that there were 3. I told them that I only made 2 payments so they said they would investigate and reversed the 3rd payment. Went to log into my visa acct and it's frozen, no access. Then get an email from Credit Karma that an acct had been closed. I called and tried to reason with this guy, told him I have a 2nd acct. that I'm locked out of and he had to get his supervisor who sounds just like him and had me do a 3-way call with my bank to verify the other acct and payment.

But that didn't cover both cards which I pay from the same checking acct. So they want a letter from my bank on their letter head saying the acct is mine and so many other things he wanted from me I couldn't keep up writing it all down. Gave me a fax # for the bank, I'm not ok with faxing that and it cost me $10 to get the letter. They also want me to write a letter explaining what happened even though I told him and his supervisor! Everything they put on my credit report was wrong, date closed, didn't show the 2 payments they got. I have every bill set to electronic delivery. I asked how am I suppose to see my acct, how much I owe due date. He insisted that I get a paper bill or I have for the last 2 months, false. They are harassing me with letters that they are going to ruin my credit all over making an extra payment!

I'm so upset and stressed out, I don't know what to do. I need help! This is awful to do to someone trying to better their credit. If I had the money I would get an attorney, this is a crime what they're doing to people! So I started looking over what statements I had downloaded wondering how these cards I haven't had long are maxed out! A $60 annual fee turned into $120. So who knows what all mistakes there are when they freeze your account but have actually closed it without notice and all for nothing. Had I known I would have never ever chose this card. I'm at a loss, I have no idea what to do. I'm just sick over this. Throwing away money I don't even have. Someone seriously needs to investigate this company and shut them down. There should be a big law suit for all they've done to innocent people.

So unprofessional. Please go for the capital one card!! I Paid my account online line before the cut off time. They charged my card a 25.00 late fee. I asked them to look into the time posted. I always pay on time. They would not remove the late fee. Please stay away from them.

I was reviewing my account (which I am actively working on paying off as this credit card company is nothing but thieves) and noticed a second card was on my account... Weird... I never applied for any card. Then, that card has a $60 fee on it just because. I have never seen this card nor do I have this card in my possession. I informed the company and they say they are escalating it to their fraud department. I refuse to pay for a card I do not even have and did not want. This company is not reliable and not trustworthy. Save yourself a lot of time and effort and avoid Credit One like it is the Plague. One of the shadiest companies I have encountered. Save yourself time and money and if you see "Credit One", run away as far as you can. If a card can just be activated without my knowledge, their security is a little more than lacking.

This card is a scam! They charge you a monthly fee of $6.25 (Even if you never use it) AND they charge you a yearly fee. It may be an easy card to get to rebuild credit but if in the long run you will wish you never added it. Additionally, I had over a year with of these monthly fees and no credit card charges that carried over from month to month. Customer service LIED to me and said that instead of closing my account she would give me 6 months of not monthly fee. Next month came around and I got charged. Interestingly, the company had NO record of this conversation and stated there was NO offers on my account. I paid my last 6.25 and closed the account. NOT WORTH IT. SCAM!!

At first, this credit card was amazing. We got the card, used it, paid it, all was great. Then, we had some financial issues that prevented us from making payments in full and we got a month behind. This is when the harassment started. I'm not talking several letters and all, I'm talking 15 calls IN ONE DAY. No voicemail was left, nothing was ever said about who this random number was that repeatedly called me. I was checking Google, reading reviews, nothing.

Finally, I picked up the phone because I just couldn't deal with the harassment anymore. She tells me thank you for taking the call and that her name is Cynthia **. I had to pull teeth to even get her to tell me what company she worked with. Then, I go to contact Credit One Bank to tell them to please get this under control. The only way to contact this company is through the phone or snail mail. What company in 2019 won't allow their customers to even write them an email or submit an online inquiry? I own the fact that I missed a payment but that does not warrant 100 calls in 7 days. It just flat out doesn't. I will be closing my account as soon as I can.

The card has the worst online services, rate and fees for any card I've experienced. In the end, the card isn't worth the time. Discover and Capital One provide better options for new users looking to build credit. Credit One (C1) charges fees because of non-payment, but they'll block online payment access days before your payment is due. This allows them to charge the fee. It's just a game to them. They'll also have "unexpected" online site issues around the time your payment is due. In the end, you can call and get the fee credited off but they activate these quirks to take advantage of suckers who are looking to desperately build credit. I honestly think this is the worst card with such limited options and perks, in addition, the stress isn't worth your time. Look elsewhere when building credit, even your local bank can assist. Zero Stars! JM.

I have had this card for 4 years paying the same way from the same bank account each time. They have cut off my card saying I need a bank verification letter stating that I am the authorized user on my account for a payment even though they took the money and applied it to my account. My bank manager called them and got instructions on what they wanted and complied. Now I must submit a new form from my bank (which Bank of America has no such form) and submit again prior to my card being turned back on. I have verified my identity with Credit One. My bank verified my identity. I paid the exact same way I have for 4 years. They took my money. Unfortunately I am dealing with the absolute worst customer service on the planet. Under no circumstance should anyone use these idiots. They should be investigated by the FBI and closed down. Worst, dumbest people I have ever spoken to or dealt with in my life. Hard to believe they are still in business.

Yea, sure it's great to build credit, however... Capital One gives more cash back and incentives AND Capital One had no problem furnishing my zero balance status letter within SECONDS when I needed it to purchase a home! Credit One took over a week to do so and gave me the run-around. They need to get with the times!! Payments take forever to process. They cannot email a status letter, only fax! AND they say to give them 72 hrs!! They will say it's sent but cannot confirm when and take another 48 hrs to resend if needed!?!? NOT WORTH THE HEADACHE!

Recently received letter from Credit One Bank stating my card was restricted due to suspicion of fraud. I had recently paid off the card. I made a partial payment from my bank and my wife paid the balance from her bank. The letter demanded a letter from my bank stating I was authorized to make the payment and that my wife should send a letter from her bank stating she was authorized to make her payment. If the letters were not received in 30 days my account would be cancelled and the credit bureau would be notified the account was cancelled by Credit One Bank. How bizarre! I am consulting an attorney.

I recently found out that my annual fees on both my cards with this company are billed monthly. I called them to find out why and if I have the option of having the fees come out one time annually (like it's supposed to be). The rep I spoke to the first time said the reporting bureau put a mandate on them to bill the annual fees monthly. I called TransUnion and Equifax (the bureau they report to) and I was told they don't impose these type of rules on the credit card companies. I called them back and demanded a better explanation. The second rep told me it's because they are trying to create an activity for me, so they have something to report to the credit report bureau every month in case I have a zero bal. (I want that zero bal!) I asked if that can be changed and if I have an option not to have my annual fees billed in installment all year long. He put his supervisor on the phone and she told me the same thing.

She said it's because they are a credit building company. I'm submitting a complaint because the whole system needs to change. They need to give consumer options of 'building credit' by paying the annual fee in installment. Not mandate it on everybody. It makes managing your credit card when they insist on managing it for you. Also, they charge you to increase your limit.

I’ve had my card for two years and have seen huge discrepancies between the mobile app when it pertains to payments posting and what the balance is etc. when you call customer service to ask why they aren’t able to walk you through your bill or the reasons why payments haven’t posted. I’m paying this off and closing my account ASAP. I got this card to rebuild credit, not to put myself in a credit payment cycle nightmare!

I have had this card for about 3 weeks and I'm already wanting to cancel it. The customer service is good due to never having to be on hold for too long. The issue comes with I decided to pay off my balance in full using their "expedited payment" which only released 100$ then they told me I have to wait 7 day for the rest to release. Well 7 days later they suspend my account and lock up my card for suspicious activity. Which they said my payment (My 1st Payment) was suspicious and I need to mail them a letterhead from my bank with the transaction showing and before that I had to call them 4 times all within an hour because they kept locking my card for "suspicious activity". If you get this car use caution because they will lock your card for every little transaction that you do.

I filed bankruptcy 4 years ago so one of the first credit card companies to contact me afterward was Credit One so I thought I try them. They have an annual fee so beware..after a year of being a member my credit card was hacked..Ii called them up and reported the fraudulent charges and they checked into it and got a subpoena and removed all the charges..

About 2 years later this being a few months ago my card was used once more without my consent..I called and reported all the fraudulent charges once again..my card was used basically used about 9 times in one day from gas station charges to clothing stores. After taking to customer service they told me they would investigate..after a few weeks went by they removed 2 of the 9 charges I complained about..and told me it was still being investigated by the fraud department..

I then a few week later received a letter in the mail from the fraud department telling me my card was used non fraudulently with the chip all purchases in my area. And told me I'm responsible for all the charges..after hours on the phone with their customer service and their customer service is the worst out of all the credit card companies out there..I went ahead and cancelled my card. I will pay what ever balance is left but do yourself a favor cause this company is by far the worst out there. Good riddance.

    * Denied access to card through website; Just days after accepting a solicitation to INCREASE MY CREDIT LIMIT for a fee mind you.
    * Being harassed at work regarding such and receiving text alerts saying "Payment Due".
    * When speaking to support, no reason is given for denial of access to just information. When I ask to speak with someone within the United States of America, they respond "We don't have that".
    * Payment; Credit One immediate payment method cost $9.95; Otherwise, 7 day payment method is free; On occasion, Credit One Bank will withdraw funds later than 7 days.

    * Support Rep. asking personal questions such as drivers license number and Facebook ID which seems like phishing activity.

I have a Visa and MasterCard with Credit One Bank. Back in August 2018 there was a fraudulent charge. Bank closed the two accounts and re-open two new cards. Then they closed both accounts, restricted access to my account online and every month I call and make payments but I am not getting any proof (by mail statements or being allowed to access account online) that my payments are being put towards the open balance. Since they restricted the two accounts no charges have been made to the account in 10 months but balance on account is not going down. Call every month to make payment and have to go through two or three customer service representatives because they put you on hold "to investigate" and after holding for a crazy long time the representative usually then disconnects the call and I have to call and start back over.

This credit card company is great if your credit is iffy! But keep in mind that if you make your payments on time and have a 540 or better score stay away. Find a better card, they are out there. You have to verify your account payment method if you use the "standard payment" method more than 2 times in any billing cycle. This can force you to pay $5 to make a payment, especially if your minimum payment is due. Also, your payment using the standard method takes 3-4 days to be available for use. They are all about making easy money over the 25 to 30% interest rate.

Got the card because I had bad credit because of separation. After I established my credit again I decided to cancel the card because I had too many cards cards that give me a better interest rates. Call them up trying to cancel card. Waived the membership yearly fee every time I try to cancel my card. Told them to send me a bill in the mail. I have yet to receive a bill in the mail from this company.

Never have told him send me a bill and I will pay off the balance. The only balance I had was the monthly fees. After I call them the first time I called them I took a scissors and I chopped up the card. I chopped the card up over 6 years ago and I finally got them to cancel my card. They got free money but you know what I don't have to deal with this company anymore so $38.01 is worth it to get out of jail free I call it. But after they knocked off all the late charges I had every month cause I didn't receive any bill in the mail ever from this company.

I had both a MasterCard and a Visa thru C1 bank, approx 6 months ago I made 2 payments, from the same account, to pay off both cards. C1 bank accepted both payments and then asked for verification of the account used for the MasterCard account. Keep in mind they asked for verification on JUST the Mastercard account. I attempted to explain to their customer service that it was ok to pay on the Visa with this account but you're asking for verification of this account on the Mastercard. After TOO many calls to customer service and not getting anyone to realize the absurdity, I instructed them to close the account and send me the bill. I proceeded to pay the bill by check and C1 kicked back my payment. I’m through trying to reason with Credit One, do yourself a favor and find another card because any issues will not get solved!
