Approved for an initial $300 limit. I called for a credit line increase and was denied after 13 on time payments with no issues. The notice read "Insufficient time since account was opened" (after 13 months?). Bottom line is, this card is useless and customer service is a complete joke. I would stay clear and NOT recommend this card for any reason.

I have been with this bank for over a year. Never been late on my payments, all way been early on my payments. I have never been offered a increase, they charge a crazy amount on interest. When you called to talk to someone at the bank you can't understand. It's just the worst bank of ever had to deal with. I do not recommend this company. But there are other companies out there a lot better.. But that's my review.

I paid my credit card bill over the monthly payment due 2 times and both times they returned my payment so I paid the minimum amount due on the due date and they returned my payment again and close the account. It makes no sense. I have never heard of collector turning down money. So strange to me. I’m rebuilding my credit. I think they are designed for you to fail. They close my account and asked a representative if you pay do they delete off your credit report and of course they don’t delete off your credit report. Such a disappointment. If you rebuilding your credit or just starting building credit stay far, far, far away from Credit One. Truly a bad experience. Beware of this company. Very bad company to deal with if you get a credit card.

As a customer, I had a claim that I was inquiring about and each time I was hung up on and no one seems to want to answer my question or assist with my need. When I ask what could be done they either hung up or claim they could not hear me. After calling for 7th time, after being hung on, I ask to speak to manager because at this point I'm livid and they transfer me to the Claims Dept. which I thought that's who I was talking to. When I ask to speak to manager they put me on hold and they eventually hung up. I have never been treated so poorly by a business. It should be a customer service class to those who need improvement. I worked in customer service and that's something we never do. Names were (Brian, Jerry, seems like the name I was giving every time). I'm cancelling my account. Capital One all the way.

I’m not going to write a book about why they suck! Pray to God you don’t need a replacement card. Because it will take two months just to get it. And make sure you don’t ask for a supervisor. I was told on the phone customers can’t talk to supervisor. That’s a no no. They told me I can’t cancel my account until I receive my new card. Lol. It’s not worth the headache. I know you're going to get all excited when they tell you that you have been approved for that big 500 dollars in the sky. .

I applied for and was approved for the Credit One platinum card in August 2020. They claimed they would review credit accounts in 6-months after consumers make 6 on time monthly payments and provide a CLI. This is untrue, as I have made 12 on time payments before the due date and paid in full each month. I just requested a CLI and was denied. I have been working on my credit and it is better than when I applied by 50 points. Nothing negative has been added to my report and 3 negative items were removed.
I have added a loan and a jewelry card since applying; I just got approved for a Capital One card with no annual fee. I will not close this account because it will damage my credit, but I will not make any purchases from here on out. Horrible customer service and high annual fees that will be broken up after your first year and appear on your monthly statement. They also charge $19 a year to add an authorized user. It pays to keep your credit in good shape! This company definitely takes advantage of those with less than perfect credit. They can keep their little $300 limit.

If you need a credit card that is reliable, do not get a credit one card. I will not bore you with a story but here are the facts. This week I have spent 12 hours on the phone and on hold with Credit One and my card is a measly $300. This is actually the amount of time over only 3 days. Their card is constantly denied at merchants or rejects merchants. A nightmare I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.

This is my second card with Credit One. I see a lot of people bashing this bank. But they tell you everything upfront...you just have to do your part and read it. Yes there a lot of fees, but they take risks on a lot of people and get shafted by a lot of people. They gave me a card when most wouldn't. I have had ZERO issues with them. I know when I make a payment, it will take a few days to show on my available credit. No problem. These cards were not designed to live off of. If you can be responsible, this is a good card to rebuild your credit. Every time I check my credit file, both Credit One and Capitol One show exceptional payment history. It is allowing me to slowly build back the credit I so foolishly ruined.

Beware!!! I accepted an offer I received in the mail for a pre-approved credit card. Once I received the card, the card limit was lower than the "guaranteed" limit promised. There is an annual fee of $75, which was placed on the card right away. When I made my first payment on the card for the balance in full, the card was immediately suspended for a "suspicious payment." However, they don't call or send a notice of any kind, you just can't use the card. Credit One wants a bank statement AS-IS, with all the transactions and balances, and wanted me to also include my FULL bank account number and routing number.
Otherwise they want your bank to submit a payment verification on bank letterhead stating the account holder authorized the payment, the account holder's name and the name and contact info for the person drafting the letter from the bank. Even when they accept auto-payments from the account (towards the remaining $75 annual fee), your card remains blocked. Seems like they have false advertising, make money off the annual fee and then don't allow you to use your card...in addition to wanting all your bank account information. There is no documentation that a proof of payment is needed to use the card, nor do they contact you to let you know the card is suspended or to give you status updates of your case once you upload documentation. You just can't use the card. Absolutely ludicrous.

I was happy to have an AMEX card with this bank at first. I knew of the fees. No problem there. But the other credit cards I own, as long as I pay by the date listed. No problem. This company charged me a late fee for paying on the date the bill was due. I'm on SSDI and get paid every month on the 3rd. The date due was the 4th and was told BY A PERSON, that this wasn't a problem. I paid on the 4th to only find out that I was charged a $29 late fee. I called their phone number the next day. First to rescind the late fee, since this was my 2nd month owning this card and the other was to move the day of payment, just 2 to 4 days, because people on SSI or SSDI, get paid once a month and you pay your bills then. Credit One Bank didn't wish to do either but by escalating the call and waiting the 1.5 to 2 hrs, I got them both changed.
There is no email or otherwise contacting them with today's technology. Just 1-800 number. A long time to wait. Time is what I have. This card will be paid off shortly and will be used only for emergency uses. My other credit cards will be getting my business. What I find confusing, where stores accept AMEX, this card gets rejected or turned down from the shop owners. When I point out to business owners that they accept AMEX, they have an excuse of turning it down. I was told by more than one business that they didn't trust this company for one reason or another. I'm not in the business of knowing but it definitely opened my eyes.

Credit One Bank specializes in credit card banking for customers with less than perfect credit. Their main offering is low line-of-credit cards for customers who want to rebuild their credit. Their business strategy is great for short term (less than one year), but beyond 1 year, doesn't make any sense to use. For example, at the end of 1 calendar year as an account holder, they'll bill you $39 annual fee. If your balance is $0, and you never use the card, you might forget this $39 fee exists, and not pay it. After so many days overdue, they'll add a $20 late fee. And if your bank should be low on funds, a $35 returned item fee. So now we're at $94 in fees, all because one $39 charge didn't go through.
The emphasis on assisting the customer with their credit issues is high, but when the customer needs the help, Credit One Bank stabs the customer in the back. Their customer service is near impossible to reach on the phone, and very little information exists online. I had to use the online service "Get Human" to wait on hold for me to get a person. After 35 minutes, my phone rang, and I had a Credit One Bank rep on the line. The representative was nice, and understanding of my issue. Ultimately, I cancelled my card because of their business practices. I was hoping for a better outcome, but did not receive it.

I was devastated because I was a value customer at the time until I learn this I call the next day & explain to customer service that I always pay my credit card on time & early. I was told the reason they close my account because a few payments didn't go through which the bank doesn't take payment until the following day. Which I don't understand that either. & I said because other bills was due at the same time, it was just a error but I still don't see the problem if I'm always making payments early & I'm never late. I don't have this problem with my other credit cards. Credit One sucks, this company wasted my time & money. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. They close my account for no reason. Credit One don't get no stars for me. Disgusted.

I attempted to use the card online and was declined many times. The purchase amount was less than my available credit. I talked to 2- reps, 1 supervisor, and two managers that all gave me inconsistent info and I still can't use the card. They advised my cash advance balance is $75. I let them know the transaction I am making is not a cash advance. I explained I don't have a PIN to this card and never intend on getting on. I was then told that this card is intelligible for balance transfers. I am not trying to deposit money to another credit card or a bank account. All their reps said nothing is wrong with the card and I should be able to use it. I then called the merchant where the transaction was attempting to be made and they confirmed that using a credit card for transactions on their site are not tied to cash advances or cash deposits.
The merchant confirmed the denial is on the Credit One Bank side and they would have to release the charge as a credit purchase. The four people told me four different answers why the card was declining. The manager Mick and Shawn said two totally different stories to me, that was different from the supervisor's story and the two reps' story. This is a fraudulent card that doesn't hold up to what their policy says. If I could rate them a negative 10 I would. A score of one is too modest for this company. This company will only allow charges that they want to go through. This card is useless to me and I would recommend that everyone think twice before taking this card.

So first off, I’ve been a customer for a year now and I am transferring this account to USAA. These people charge a BIG annual fee, and a fee to pay the bill over the phone. They call you like every two days within the billing cycle if you are behind. I found this out after my debit account was deactivated by my bank for fraud. It’s a family owned business because I have gotten the same four people so far with lots of background clutter. Very pushy and greedy even after I told him the issue.
I still have 17 days to pay it. He rudely asked me if there was money in my account. No formalities, no name just straight to the point like the next step was to send leg breakers after me. This is a shady, and annoying family company with the one annoying guy that has no people skills. They don’t know it, but again, you can tell they all live in the same house because I heard the girl training him in the background months ago. And yes, he’s still an ass hat. You have been warned..

I recently signed up for the credit card and now received it in the mail. As I am trying to set it up for use with the app, I keep getting error messages saying “for security reasons… blah, blah, blah. Call this number.” So I call the customer service number they provided and it prompts me through until I put in the last 4 of my social security number. Click. The call ended. So, I called back and got a little bit further that time. It rang for a second, then went silent for nearly a minute, and then hung up. I tried for a third and final time and got the same result as the first time. As stated in the title of the review, not off to a great start, Credit One!

2 stars because they approve you for a $300 credit card even if your credit score is low, but with the highest APR of any bank. I had a score of 540 when I opened an account with them and one time I had a payment returned and within a week my credit balance was $563 meaning I was on -$263. My score took a knock to the lowest of lows. This credit card is a business venture and not a way for you if you struggling to make ends meet! The customer service is run from India I presume so you won’t get any help, if you eventually get someone on the line and you ask them too much they just hang up!

After having a bankruptcy I was happy to get things moving along with a new credit card from Credit One. I tried to maintain perfect credit payments, but my attempts actually cost me in a big way. I wound up trying to pay my card off entirely each month, 2 payments reversed from my bank because it was in the overdraft zone. What happened next was my card was closed, my credit score sank to new lows and my life was thrown back into a place I don't wish anyone. I tried to explain the situation to Credit One, but they were not helpful and they blamed the bank. I paid my bill in full soon after. For 2 years I tried reapplying because this is the next card in the steps to rebuilding credit. I kept getting run around and error codes.
I was told it was the app I was using responsible for my denial, then I was told I had a open account and then finally that I had a closed account with a balance. Now I just called them and they said it was because of suspicious activity on my old account. Which is it Credit One? Now they treat me like a criminal for trying to apply for a credit card. It's so frustrating because for the last year during this pandemic I had many fees and interest charges I would have never had if I had just avoided ever dealing with Credit One bank. I had to take out loans with 1700% interest because of this card closure and the damage it did to my credit after their surprise closure of my card. I'd recommend people stay away if at all possible, but I know it's often one of the early cards for rebuilding credit. I don't feel I was treated well, or even humanely by this card company.

If they can offer me a new line of credit of $1500 then why can’t they increase my current account with them? None of the customer service representatives have an answer for this and I can’t get anywhere with asking for a higher up. My current account has always been on time and my credit score is above the 700s and I still can’t get a credit line increase on my current account. I don’t want a new credit card with a new limit. This has to be by far the WORST credit card company I've ever experienced. I recently got a new credit card with them, with a small credit line of $300. I have higher credit lines that I have never missed a payment. After 1 month I paid $100. Since I was 10 days late because of an issue with my deposit, I get SIX PHONE CALLS every 15-30 minutes in 2 hours. At first I didn't even know it was them. They did not leave any voicemails until the 6th phone call. I called them back and expressed how disturbing and creepy it was to get called, and they explained to me that they do it (for my sake) so that they don't report me negatively to the credit bureau. Which is understandable, but then she wanted to social security number and personal info.
Seriously lady? You want me to give you my PERSONAL INFORMATION AFTER YOU CALLED ME SIX TIMES? You think I'd trust someone who calls me 6 times in 2 hours? No way I said. So then she'd have to take the time to verify that the company is legitimate. All that time wasted. Could've left a message after the 1st call. I'm paying off the $213 and closing out my card. Will never do business again with people who will harass you like that.

Let me start by saying I am very thankful to Credit One for giving me the chance with no deposit on my initial card. I have had their card since December of 2019 and love it! I started with a $300 limit and used it wisely paying all fees on time and as of now have about 11 cards as they just approved me for $1500 on another card! I see many people complaining about fees and such, they make this VERY clear when you apply for the card. If you can't afford the fees...don't get the card. There are cards out there with no fees like the Capital One Secured Visa which is what I started on with a $250 deposit over a year ago.
Since I have been with Credit One I have had absolutely ZERO issues with this company and will continue to use their services. I have approximately 14 accounts in total and have not missed one payment. This is because if I have an issue I don't wait until my closing date or due date to address it. I check all my accounts daily even if it is tedious, it's responsibility. If you can't afford $99 a year then you probably shouldn't have a credit card as the interest on a card adds to that and this is MADE CLEAR WHEN YOU APPLY. If you dont have the income, do what I have done, go work at Sonic and put in 50-60 hours a week.
These companies take a high risk as most people are NOT honest about their actual income then blame the card companies because they don't do the math BEFORE getting a card to see what the interest would be with a $300 card maxed with $99 in fees every year so let me try to help. So, if you have $300 and it's maxed with a 29% interest rate that's about $87, then you have the $99 fee every year. So that's actually $186. If you make the minimum payments of $30 it will take FOREVER to pay off that balance. So in total you would have $486 for that year if you maxed the card. In order to pay that card off in 12 months you would have to have a minimum payment of about $45 each month. These are rough numbers but it's to give a general idea.
In closing, Credit Cards are not YOUR MONEY. It is BORROWED money and should only be used sparingly, in an emergency, or to invest bringing in more than what your TOTAL credit line is. Literally, 11 cards and 3 merchant accounts all above 25% interest on a median income of $52k a year with about $1500 in car, truck, and insurance payments and never missed a payment. Stop blaming these companies for y'all's shady practices for not reading and doing the math BEFORE getting these cards. They make it VERY clear if you READ about the $7 design fee.

I knew there was an annual fee when I signed up. I planned on just paying for the first year and then cancelling before they charged me an annual fee for the second year. The customer service is terrible. It takes too long to get past the automated system because there is no clear route to ask for a human representative. There is actually no option to choose from if you wanted to cancel your card. I had to choose to make an express payment just to get to someone.
I finally reached an "account specialist" and I explained that no longer wanted the card because I had been approved for better card which do not have an annual fee. He tried to give me an offer of a $20 credit to offset the next 3 months of my annual fee which would have been $8.25 a month. I could have appreciated the offer if the math actually added up correctly. ($8.25 x 3 = $24.75). He then went on to say that they can possibly provide a better offer during my next evaluation. If you had a better offer to give then why not offer it to me immediately instead of trying to trick me into still paying $4.75 towards an annual fee. For all I know, I could've been liable to pay the remainder of that years annual fee if I chose to cancel it after those 3 months have passed.
I explained to him how I did not like the offer and just do not want to deal with a credit card that has an annual fee written on the agreement. I didn't get a response. In fact there was no longer another person on the other line. I was still connected but I didn't hear anything. I then had to call again and found out that my card was cancelled. So their "account specialist" attempted to negotiate with me to keep my business with them only to just cancel my card after I rejected their first offer. Not only that but they did not give me any confirmation that my card was cancelled. I would have been open to better offers or to possibly just have the annual fee waived, but instead they chose to try and deceive me and then discard of me as a customer. The only good thing is that their phone app works.

I had to add this review to make some justice, Looking for help I went into their Twitter and I found Anna, she said she care about this issue (Unlike the guys I spoke earlier at their customer service). Well, Anna not just was receptive -which was more than I have expected at that time- but she cancel the account I didn't ask for and avoid the $39 fee, Moral: use Twitter and if you find Anna ... you will be lucky, she cares!

If you can, go with another company! Payments take forever to post! It is RIDICULOUS to have a payment post anywhere from 5-9 days on your account. As of today I have a balance showing $148.01, available credit of only $51.00!! Yet my payment has been pending for 6days...6 days! This payment WAS NOT from a checking account, as is the excuse they use, but from the same card I always use. This is the normal from them, an excuse to collect more interest from you. STAY AWAY!!

Today I call to ask for a credit line increase from the miserable $300 that I started with, Only to be denied. This card is worthless to me. If I weren't afraid of what would happen to my credit score, I would cancel it now!

My account was frozen and I could not use it. Very embarrassing when I went to use it and it came up... declined. Do not accept... Wow. I called them and was told I had a suspicious payment and I needed to send a copy of my bank statement to verify the payment was legitimate. I must not have gotten it to them in time because they then closed my account!! I got it reinstated however my credit score went down 11 points.
When I talked to someone the reason given for closing my account was get this... ABUSE OF CREDIT. For the last 2 months they have not reported it as an open account. They still report to TransUnion that my account is closed and I cannot get anyone on the phone to understand or help me resolve this. OMG!! Not sure if this was worth opening. I just wanted to let you know that I have been a Credit One card holder since 9/2017 and I never agreed to be a part of their "Credit Protection" plan, yet they decided to add me anyway. I am not a statement reader and this is why I didn't notice it, until after almost 3 years of being a card holder. On 2/21/21, I noticed a Credit Protection charge and when I contacted Credit One, they said they could only give me a credit for 3 months, to something I never agreed to in the first place.
I think it's very unfair and I haven't been late on a single payment, ever since I became a member in 2017 and that's even considering the pandemic situation that the world is confronting (including my family and I.) I just think it's a really bad option to helping anyone repair their credit, if they're going to add hidden costs and not be liable for it, once confronted.
Sincerely disappointed,

This company is a joke. They didn’t properly activate my first card, then sent me a replacement and charged me the annual fee twice. I paid one fee, they dropped the other. Then they blew up my phone saying I didn’t pay the fee and now there is a late fee, DOUBLING the amount due. I have NEVER USED THE CARD but owe the $80! After four phone calls and an hour of my time they finally waived the late fee and credited back the annual fee, but never even acknowledged that they had misapplied the money I already gave them. Now I have to wait another 48 hours for all the refunding the woman did this morning before I can cancel the account. I’ll keep my fingers crossed because it seems their sole purpose is to not let you cancel their card and keep just charging fees. High rate, low limit, huge annual fee, and crappy accounting and customer service practices. Just don’t do it. Get a different card from a better company.

So I call and spoke with 3 different people and they advise me nothing could be done until Monday. I am out of town stranded because I sent my money to put on my credit card and now I have nowhere to stay. I tried to get western union to cancel the payment and they advise me the credit card company would have to cancel it back. This is so sad that they know the money is there but, since they have no one on the weekends to process the payment, I will need to wait until Monday. So I have to find a way to get back home. This is so crazy. Please be careful about making urgent payments, that you pay extra for.

Never do business with this shady credit company again. Your employees lack empathy, don’t contact any one to say, "Hey by the way I saw that ..." then me as the customers would of explain, "What was going was in the hospital and changed banks and must of forgot to update the information with you." Instead of informing the customer who might be a little occupied with their health and 2 deaths within 3 weeks of each other and I could of made the payment over the phone, like Capital One who called me, Mid America called and even the cable company called because although some payments maybe late by a day or so the payment has always gone through, but no employee try to ask what happened or try to work with you.
They just close the account with no contact. You just happened to check your account and saw the money still sitting there and called, first call no empathy or discovery questions asked just very clip and on a hurry to say, "Oh it’s close," just to hang up and call back and still get the same treatment. Leads me to believe as a company you don’t care about your customers, nor do you make them feel valued. That is the only way I can explain it. You would think with us being in the 21st century an email or voicemail could of been sent, I can seriously compare this bank with a mobster loan shark. Distasteful.
And for that I will pay my balance owed and I will never ever recommend this company to any one, and just because your employees are lacking in customer service which is a reflection of the company as a whole, I’ll find every outlet online since it’s the 21st century warning people about the treatment, the outrageous fees, in if they are ever in a bind this company just don’t care and won’t even reach out, but hey they’ll be quick to mess up your credit and quick to close.

I have two cards from Credit One and they were working out ok. They have ALWAYS been difficult to get help in any situation. This time has been a nightmare. I made the mistake of paying twice in a month... they don't like that. They put a hold on my card until I called them when I realized it would not work. My accounts have always been in good standing! Not late pay more than my minimum so for my card to be on hold I was a little ticked. I called three times before I could get any help. That was when I was told I should only make 1 payment a month. So how do I fix it? I had to send a copy of my bank statement showing each payment in separate emails because I made them on different days, same month just two different days.
I have sent the email 3 times with a response that they will get back to me with in 10 day.... and NOTHING ever. No response at all. DO NOT GET THIS CARD. They locked me out of my accounts so I can not even make a payment so they are screwing with my credit score. I am going to get them paid off and will never use them again. I feel this business is shady, unethical, uses trickery, and I don’t need them and reminded them they need me. They decided to be bullies and not post my payment. I take photos of the outside of the postmarked envelope in which I mail my money order. They tried getting even further express payment fees, NOT happening. They also wanted to see if I would give them access to my other accounts for payments, NOT happening! They received any posted my first payment within 3 business days.
I let December’s posting issues slide due to Christmas holiday. They have had 9 days and they are trying to see if I need my payments to post quickly for some other reason in order to get me to either use some other form of payment to allow them access into more of my personal information and to help their 3rd parties get their little monthly nine dollars etc. None of these tactics are going to work. They blew their chances into making any further money off me. There are other cards out there and I keep a monthly check of my credit which is good. I want to close my account with them and they are not allowed to check my credit ever. They really are an awful credit card company. I have had a Credit One card since June 2020. Since becoming a customer I have always paid my balance due in full every month, but one. That one time was my November payment, which happened to be the first time I was late due to the way payments are processed. I say process, but usually, that implies the customer knows how it works. Credit One does whatever they want in that regard. Let's explain.
When you make a payment to Credit One the money is not taken out of your bank account instantly or the next day. I never knew how long the money would sit in my account before they processed it, on average it was 5 plus days. As confusing as that is I just learned to deal with it. It required constantly checking my account to make sure the money the payment was there whenever they finally processed it. I'm not rich and live from month to month like a lot of people. Some months all the money left in my account would be for my Credit One payment.
The only time I was ever “technically” late with my payment I made the money was in my bank account for six days. So for six days, I checked just in case something I forgot about paying came out. Well, that month it did. Conveniently on the seventh day, Credit one finally decided to take it out, just after my monthly Apple music payment I forgot about has proceeded. It was also 3 days after my due date with Credit one, so I was charged a late fee. I was a little upset! It was my fault I know, but if Credit One processed payments in a reasonable way it would not have happened. Again, it ultimately was on me for that.
Well, it's a month, after all, that and I “made my payment” four days before the due date. This time I made sure I had more than enough in my bank account. Just in case the same issue last month came up. Still, I checked my account every day to make sure I knew it had been processed. The due date came and passed with the same result. A few days after that the money still hadn't processed, so I logged into my Credit one app to check. To my surprise I couldn't log in, all I got was a message that my account had been suspended.
When I called Credit One to find out what was going on, I was told the account had been closed! I was shocked and confused, so I asked why it had been closed. After a brief hold, the rep informs me that it was because I was late too many times. I argued that technically I had only been late once and even if that was true I had received no notice of the issue. I mean not an email, text, phone call, or message through the app. They just closed my account.
After calming down I asked what I needed to do to get this corrected because I could prove that it wasn't true. They wanted me to send bank statements showing my account balance every month they claimed I was late. I guess the fact that their system would show only one time I ever paid a late fee wasn't enough. I would have done it for them, but all my Credit One statements were electronic and I can't log in. I thought about going through all that trouble to fix it, but if they how they do business it's not worth it! I really that it had more to do with always paying my balance monthly in full. I was not accruing interest, so they weren't making money.

I’d been trying to rebuild my credit like most credit one customers (were not customers to this company, simply dollar signs, the word customer infers we be appreciated in some way and shows a little respect as such) first of all I'll say that I appreciated this company taking a chance on me and my less than perfect credit score when giving me a credit card. That being said, they are a business they need to make money. And so I could look past the high fees, which keep their annuals up, the activation fees which show a customer who doesn’t usually pay their bills is ready to pay something before getting anything, and not I could simply not care about the interest rate on a card with a few hundred dollar limit as I intended to pay it off each month (which I did) in order to build my credit score as quick as I could.
After my bank account was drained by someone who got a hold of a check of mine I was screwed out of my money. I decided I’d not spend with checks or debit cards any longer. So I chose to use credit for everything and then pay the bill with my checking account. Meaning whatever I spent money on or if a thief got my card number and made fraudulent charges I wasn’t liable. I was protected in many ways a checking account doesn’t offer. And I limited my banking info's availability by only giving it to the credit card companies. My spending and liability could be far less this way. But because the card limit is small I maxed it out several weeks during the first two months this meant I was making a payment on it each week just to have money to spend.
I could have pulled cash out I suppose but I was trying to get in the habit of paying the bill and putting my expenses (not just almost but all, on credit) and between this card and another card I was managing to. All be it taking my weekly paychecks (from two jobs paid on opposite bi weekly schedules) and paying toward each card. Now I didn’t pay the card off each week, (I did at the end of the month though) I typically just paid a hundred or two hundred dollars I’d have to give me an allowance on available credit, I didn’t use multiple payment methods to pay the credit card payments. Just my bank account and those were the only charges my bank account was being used for.
My plan was working well and my credit score was already going up in the first couple months from doing this. Keep in mind when I made my payments I needed my cash I was forking over to them available ASAP as I’m obviously not rich and have small credit limits, so I took a loss each payment made because they charged me $10 for “express payment” which was available either right away of in twenty four hours as a pose to seven to ten days later. That is one of those fees that I mentioned earlier I was able to look past. It’s the next shady business practice however that brings me here today.
I made several payments on my small limit card ($300 limit) in both months I was using the card (my payments the second month were somewhere around $540) which seems like a small amount by most standards when talking credit card balances and debt. Then I got I’ll and ended up in the hospital for two weeks and recovering at home a third. I didn’t use my card at all during that three weeks. On the fourth week I went to use it and it was declined. I knew there was two thirds of the card available to spend. What could be the issue? I tried to log in to my account and it said it was locked. I called the company the next day and they said they closed the account that morning! But why?
Why would a credit card company close an account who’s owner was making payments on it with more frequency than most folks with poor credit would. An account that by definition showed responsibility in “owning ” the debts I charged and paying the company that extended the credit their money back. Well, let me tell you the answer I got left my mouth wide and jaw slacked. Apparently I did something very wrong by paying them all the time. I was apparently supposed to pay the minimum payment only and rack up interest charges. Or anything that would have made them more money off me. Aside from the fifty dollars they got that month alone in fees to let me make the payments I did. That’s better than most interest on low limit cards!
They locked, then closed my account with sending a single letter or alert on my email. The reason being was that I did the unimaginable. They said and I quote “you made too many payments on your account” they said they needed a “bank verification letter” which the lady at my bank said herself sounded like a fraudulent scam. But they never sent me anything requesting such a letter. They then locked my account so I couldn’t make a monthly payment by express or standard time frame nor could I use a different payment method to pay the payment. Keep in mind not a single one of my nine payment was ever returned, rejected or refunded by my bank. They all went through and credit one accepted each. Even the last two which they say were the two that apparently overdid it. They were all made from the same account. They say this is to protect their customers from fraud.
How so? If it was fraud wouldn’t it be a different account paying on it each time? Wouldn’t it be rejected or charged back when the real owner saw the charges (of which there were enough they'd stand out on a bank statement) if the banking info was someone else’s? They took my last payments and accepted them and then locked my account leaving me with 200 available credit and a hundred dollars (PLUS MORE FEES) owed. A balance they would not let me pay because my account was locked. They charged me a late fee for no payment that last month as well. I took credit hits for nonpayment. And then another hit to my credit because they closed the account with a balance.
All in all they made more money from me in the first two months than they do on most customers (I’d assume) in the first year even. All in all, financially speaking they profited off of me 75$ annual fee, 35$ activation fee, nine 10$ express payment fees (90$) and the 35$ late fee they charged after refusing to let me make a payment. A grand total of $235 in fees they collected in the two months as one of their “valued customers” not to mention the serious damage they did to my credit. All the points I was able to gain my score dropped double that amount. I’d say be cautious. For some folks it seems to work. For myself. It did not.

I opened my account with Credit One about 6 1/2 years ago to build my credit back up. In that time I never missed a payment. The fees are high and obviously so is the interest rate but I never complained about it. Well this past weekend I made a purchase and the invoice that was sent had the wrong products on it. I tried to contact the retailer multiple times by phone, email, and even on Facebook but I received no response. Naturally I called my credit card company whose card I made the purchase with and explained the situation. I was told that since the charge is pending there is nothing they could do and that I would need to file a dispute once the charge goes through. I explained that the charge is no longer authorized because the items listed are not correct and that I have no way to contact the seller.
My assumption was that like any other credit card company I could file a dispute over the phone, or very least by email as I've had to do that before with other credit card companies, but I was wrong. They said the ONLY way to file a dispute was by mail. I work on the road 6 days a week and travel to different states for work. Not only was this request unreasonable but the company states it's a "TECHNOLOGY AND DATA DRIVEN" company. I was told they do have email but not for this. I was baffled. I asked to be transferred to a supervisor. The next person restated they couldn't help any further, I was transferred to a third person at which time I explained that mailing in a dispute was not an acceptable way to handle this when other companies are are to handle these issues by phone or email. I then explained that if I was unable to be helped that closing my account would probably be the best option. I was told, "That would be fine. You tell us what you decide".
A 6 1/2 year customer and not a single care about keeping them! I spoke to a fourth person and they again said there was no way to help me but they would be more than happy to close my account. He had it done within a minute. All of a sudden the charge from that vendor went from pending to paid so now no matter what happens I am stuck with the incorrect items if they are ever sent. Moral of the story...CREDIT ONE is happy to take your money but purposely makes customer service as inconvenient as possible.

And all of the payments always come from the same bank and account. My son tried to use the card this morning but learned that it was blocked. When I spoke to customer service they told me that my last payment was flagged as possible fraud even though it fell within the same frequency as past payments and from the same bank account. They then said the only way to remove the block was to provide a bank statement with my name on it and that within 7 to 10 business days the block would be removed. It does neither myself or my son any good 7 TO 10 BUSINESS DAYS FROM NOW!!!!
I now have to figure out a way to wire money to him, which will cost me more money! I’ve accepted the high interest rates because I’m a big boy but this is absolutely ridiculous!! I am done with this company and I advise anyone else who thinks they can rely on this company to think again before they leave you or a loved one in a bind when it’s needed. By the way, this wasn’t the first time something like this has happened with this company!

They have always did this to their good customer. I recommend anyone to think twice about credit one. They say they help you with your credit but that's a flaw if you help somebody with the credit and you never call you for help what you going to think if they can't pay you going to have bad credit. After establishing good credit, I decided to cancel both of my Credit One cards. They were totally paid off yet every month they were charging me $5.00 on one card, after I paid the $39.00 annual fee and $9.00 on the other card. A root canal is less painful than trying to get through to these people. They give no options on the main menu for talking to customer service, when you finally hit the magic button, you can tell it's an outsourced call center.
The first time I got through to an actual person, she told me I had to call back and push 4. So I did, go through listening to 20 recordings before I could push 4, which was still wrong. I finally just kept hitting the star button until it connected me to a person. Then they had to transfer me, finally reached the right person after AN HOUR trying to get through, THEN he tries to convince me repeatedly to keep the cards open after I repeatedly told him to CANCEL. I finally had to practically yell at him, because my frustration level was going out of control. So an hour plus later, I finally got these cards cancelled.

I've been with Credit One for 3 + years now and the highest my credit limit has reached is $950 due to the periodic automatic credit increases. Before today, I've had yet to initiate a credit limit increase on my own, so this evening I thought I'd be random and request a credit limit increase. Mind you, I have relatively "good" credit (700+ credit score with all 3 bureaus) and my balance is sitting pretty at $7, as I like to pay off my balance every month. I received an automatic denial.... Hmmm I wondered why??
The reason in the denial letter is, "Account usage during the past 90 days does not meet our current eligibility criteria. If you have any questions regarding this matter, you should contact us..." So, of course, I contact them to inquire with a live representative. An account supervisor informs me that I'm not spending enough monthly on my card with my monthly max at $100, so they feel that I don't need a credit limit increase. I explain that my limit is only $950 and I like to keep my credit card usage/balance no more than 10-15%. I further explain that the credit bureaus like to see your debit balance at the max 30%, thus I don't like to get near the threshold to preserve my good credit standings. The account supervisor proceeds to argue with me and tells me that this logic is not logical and that I should be using my 30%.
Wow.... The last time I checked, lenders preferred those who carried no credit card balance monthly. This was the music of bologna to my ears. I ended the call by telling her that this logic has seemed to work for all my other credit cards thus I refused to debate over her illogical thinking and hung up. I guess you're dammed if you do and dammed if you don't. Here I am, doing the right thing and managing my credit the proper way and I get told I'm managing it too well. I'm baffled....

I made 3 separate calls to customer service and was promised the card was on its way. I cancelled this card due to why would I pay a bill on an account for a card I never received??? Crazy and the fees are too high. They're taking advantage of people with lower credit scores, not helping!!! The card finally came 3 weeks after I cancelled it which means a 2nd payment would've almost been due at this time. Glad I cancelled even though it lowered my credit score to do that. Wait to it credit is good enough for a legit card is my recommendation.

This bank is cruel and heartless. Do NOT be fooled or be a sucker that 'they're there when you need them.' My nephew got a CreditOne bank card. He was making small purchases and kept up with his payments. Then he had a stroke. CreditOne added a $30/late fee the first month. Because he had had a severe stroke and couldn't even go online, he got a late fee the next month of $39. Each month it was $39 'til his balance was in the hundreds. While other banks were offering him hardship payment terms (especially during this period of Covid-19) and reversing late fees and interest and arranging reduced payments, which he was keeping up with, this bank would not.
At some point they closed his account but STILL continued to add LATE FEES!!! Last month my nephew died. I contacted the bank and they 'noted' his death, whatever that meant, but I was able to go online into his account - they were continuing to send him emails!!! - and still they continued to add late fees!!! Credit One Bank erroneously withdrew $40 from my bank on 10/1, as a duplicate payment, so my bank put a stop payment on the transaction because I caught it the same day. Then they put 2 returned payments on my account, again in error. I had to phone in on 10/1, 10/5, 10/8, 10/10, and 10/12, speaking with numerous people including “upper management” to get this resolved. On 10/13, they finally fixed my account and credited it an extra $5 for my troubles.
However, on 10/15, I received another alert that I’m over my limit. I check my account and find that they slapped on a $25 fee for a Returned Payment. It was not a returned payment! It was a stop payment on their incorrect withdrawal attempt to my bank account. I had even told them twice on those numerous calls to make sure they don’t put that fee on my account! They said they hadn’t and weren’t going to since it was all their mistake. As of 10/20, and after I had already sent them two messages through the portal, they still haven’t resolved this. They didn’t even respond to the messages. So, I called them and was told they need “time to investigate” so give a couple more days. It’s bogus! I was alerted yesterday to a drop in my credit score!!

Received a pre approval letter in the mail and stupidly accepted it. Getting the card was easy and took about 14 days to receive. Interest rate is very high and the annual fee comes directly off your balance once activated. You have a bill and already in debt before you ever swipe it. I kept the card anyways and used it some. Always paid on time and at least double the minimum payment. Last month I used my girlfriend's bank account to make the payment. Received the confirmation email.
Two weeks later I get an email saying my account is closed and Credit One starts blowing up my phone minutes later. I ignored the first dozen or so calls and eventually answered out of irritation. Surprise! It was Credit One wanting a payment. Credit One Bank rejected the payment for unauthorized use. They closed the account before ever making an attempt to contact me. Although I always paid on time, having an account with them has done nothing but drop my score month after month. They will not reopen the account and you cannot even sign in to your account anymore to pay the bill. I guess they will harass me once the next bill is due? They are purely awful to deal with. I read a lot of reviews when deciding to apply for this card. Most of them were negative. I read that if you make multiple payments in a month they give you a hassle. Not true, I make 2-4 payments a month usually paying in full each time, never had a issue. I read payments do not post on time, not true, they post the same day made. Although the available credit sometimes takes 2-3 days to become available that was never a problem for me as we got this card to build credit not to live off of.
Here is my thoughts, yes there is high fees, yes they are a little slower in releasing available credit (because they want to make sure the payment is not returned) and yes they are a little antiquated. If you are looking to build credit and use it and pay as you agree, this card is great, it serves the very purpose it is designed for and most people intend on using it for. With that said I find the low review rating and negative reviews are so many because so many of us poor people with crap or no credit get this card, then can't afford to pay on time or keep too high of a balance and get mad when there are fees or no credit. If you want o fix or build your credit follow the rules and this card is perfect. If you want a no fee card Discover offers a secured card for as little as $200 and will return your deposit after 8 months if you behave! We did both and it's working excellent.

She was telling me to dispute the merchant. Because I work for a bank I knew the procedure & that Visa has a zero liability for their consumers. Once I spoke to fraud they told me they were filing the charge against the pending transactions but never even filed the claim! I spent ten days talking to customer service reps who had NO CLUE how to dispute fraud! All they kept saying is my systems are down and "I'll transfer you to my manager". Then the manager would say, "My system is down and I'll transfer you to my manager".
10 days later I finally spoke to rep that said they never even included the fraud charges in the claim. I was livid all of the previous reps were making a circus out of my claim. There's been no provisional credit posted to my account and they seem very confused about how to handle fraud. The fraud charges are STILL on my account & my payment is now due. How devastating is it to have a customer service that doesn't even know how to protect your account at a time like this where online is everything and protecting your information has become vital!!! Unless you want to get thrown around in circles with a dysfunctional customer service who doesn't understand their job, it's not worth the headache. So naturally the monthly fee and interest charges accrued. I was finally able to get a hold of someone today (phone lines were down last week along with most days their website was down as well). I wanted to pay off my low balances and close my account. He took my money right away and just before he submitted the payment he told me there is a $9.95 processing fee per card.
I decided to just go along with because I wanted to be done with it all and close my accounts. Well needless to say, after my payment was processed he was unable to close my accounts because of some new software. They are hoping this week sometime they will be able to close accounts. You'll always pay interest with this card. This message is an attempt to bankrupt the bank so they no longer have any business. Consumers don't appreciate companies like this who prey on the weak just so they can gain extra money and incentive because a consumer happens to be in a temporary position of bad standing. My card got to a balance of less than $10. I submitted the payment, but they didn't process it by the due date, so they added late fees, reported it as past due. This went on for two months until I called them and had them process the payment over the phone and sent me a confirmation that the account was paid off and had a $0 balance. I would not recommend this credit card, under any circumstances. They do nothing to help you rebuild your credit.

Today, July 28, 2020 at 10:40 PM I was calling Credit One to make a payment to my card. A customer service agent answered the phone so fast and asked me for my social security and all my information to access my account, but he was being very very rude! His tone of voice was so aggressive! And since he was speaking so fast I couldn’t understand much of what he said, plus English is not my first language so I had to analyze first and then respond to his questions, and he got mad every time I asked him to repeat himself because I couldn’t understand, he spoke so fast and he was so aggressive in his tone of voice.
I also told him that I wasn’t calling him specifically because I wanted to chitchat or something, I usually do my payments with the automated system but they don’t have one (which is a no no for me) so, I told him that I tried to use the online system to make the payment at first but the system wouldn’t take my information so I had to call and asked him if he knew why the system would not accept my information and he said “if you have questions it’s better that you call in the morning...” just like that. He didn’t gave his name or anything and that is so upsetting.

This bank charges you fees randomly and then charges you late fees when didn't use the card. The company claims to help customers build up credit, but they are a borderline fraudulent bank that should be shut down for their crooked practices. It is difficult to contact these crooks or pay your bill, absolutely no customer service. This bank is a joke and should be considered criminal for taking advantage of lower middle class and low income Americans. I WONDER WHY PEOPLE HATE BANKS, AND USURY IS CONSIDERED AN AWFUL SIN?

I got this card when I was trying to rebuild my credit. Now that my credit is doing better and my card is paid off, I noticed each month a tiny fee, but it was billed as interest on purchases. How could that be? I haven't made any purchases with that card in over 4 months. The annual fee billed monthly is paid in full each month, so why do I keep getting this tiny fee? After calling customer service, I was transferred and escalated to 3 different "supervisors" until finally, they said the next supervisor would call me (she has not). Allegedly, the interest on purchases comes from the annual fee being billed. I asked how is this possible when both of these charges are billed to my card on the day the statement closes? Also, how do you charge interest on a fee, as a purchase? No one could explain that, hence why I am waiting for that call back (I'm sure I'll have to call them again).
The funniest part about their lie/explanation, I actually have 2 cards with Credit One, both charged the annual fee monthly, yet only 1 is still being billed interest for purchases since being paid off. Makes me wonder how long they've been jerking me around with this fee. If I am being billed on nothing, who knows if they were accurately billing my interest when I held a balance. It just stood out more now, since there were no purchases! Consumers beware!

I was sent a pre-approved notice so I contacted them and got their card. Having not had credit in a while it was helpful at first. The only method of payment is a bank account with no way to transfer a balance or pay it off with another card. During the pandemic, they offered NO help whatsoever! Instead they recommended getting a loan, selling assets and even getting a second job, just to name a few.
Seriously? The country was shut down! I tried calling for a week to let them know I was not going to be able to make the full payment and never was able to speak to a person. BUT when I only made a partial payment, they called the next day! Needless to say, I paid off the entire (maxed out) balance (the same month) and will never use the card again. I refuse to allow them to make money off of me when they are not willing to help their customers in a time of crisis. I do not recommend this card to anyone even if you are trying to build credit. This is the absolute WORST credit card for anyone, any reason under the sun. First and foremost, the credit card company is located in India. Their online website is constantly broken, not allowing sign in and a laborious payment chat you must go through to make a payment. Secondly, the payment often does NOT go through, because most banks consider this vendor to be fraudulent and block payment. The BIGGER problem though, is their system does NOT notify you when payment has difficulties. This may be deliberate on their part, you get stuck with automatic $30 late fee. To PAY your bill in general is costs $9.95 on their website and over the phone. THERE IS NOT AUTO PAY.
Setting up a payment from Wells Fargo has also proven problematic, thus I'm stuck CALLING every 30 days to speak to someone for 20 mins to process a payment. The CREDIT LINE IS LOW. If you're building or rebuilding your credit, I have had amazing experiences with Mission Lane and Mercury. Both cards have AUTOPAY and work like normal credit card companies. The initial credit lines were DOUBLE what was offered by Credit One. Additionally, I have had all 3 cards for exactly 1 year now, and Mission and Mercury have just increased my credit lines by 50%. Credit One declined any increase. YOU WILL GET STUCK with this card. Again, contact is difficult, website doesn't work, no auto pay, and FEE for processing payments. For a pissy little credit card with $800 credit line, it ends up costing me money every month - like $40 just in payment fees. It's a SCAM. BEWARE.

Even though my credit score has gone up over a 100 points. It's fair now. The day you pay your bill off. They hit you with interest. So you always owe them something. Say you pay early and it's paid off. To your knowledge anyways. Then you look. 1.38 interest was added. Just saying if you're building credit or you need credit. Use wisely. Thanks for reading.

While the actual credit card products are reviewed elsewhere here, do not look for any technical support from this bank. I was trying to speak to someone about connecting to my accounts using Quicken (something that seemingly every other bank is able to do). I submitted a written message via their website a week ago (I'm still waiting for a response), finally called today. I'm guessing that their support is in India: they (initial support AND supervisor) had no idea what Quicken was, could only say that their website is working, and would not escalate or refer my issue to technical support. After explaining the technical difference (I'm an IT professional), the supervisor could not say anything other than they have no problems with their website and hung up on me.
In my experience Credit One Bank lacks many of the most commonplace technical abilities (e.g. downloading my transactions in a .QIF or .CSV file) - suffice it to say this is not the first time I've tried to get something that is a regular feature from other institutions. While this was tolerable while I was rebuilding my credit after a divorce, it is not any longer. It is now a priority to pay off my accounts and close them. Caveat Emptor.

I received a reference number and a payment date confirmation receipt to show my payment was made on time. I went to check my payment information the next day 7/8 and my credit one account was reflecting a late fee payment of $30 and that my payment was made on 7/8 not the payment date.
When I called customer service to have this information corrected I was told they could waive the late fee, but could not correct my account to show my payment was actually paid on time I would need to speak with another department that could correct this error. I was transferred to three different agents and placed on hold for over an hour waiting on a Supervisor who I was told still couldn't correct this fraudulent information. My credit score is now 701 and I've been a customer for over a year with no missed/late payments.
I keep my balance at $0 and I'm currently only paying the annual fee monthly. I reached out to them to request a CLI and was denied. I called customer service and no one knows the requirements for a CLI and simply stated the "system" approves or denies it automatically. Very odd but whatever I don't plan on using this card anyway. Another issue I have is the reporting to the credit bureaus. Okay, moving right along. So I called them to request this email and I was told that I would have to wait up to 72 hours to receive a daggone fax stating "Paid in Full". If I'm paying my credit card bills on time and holding my end of the contract why is that I have to "wait" for someone to click a freaking button.
2nd offense, The representative I spoke to on Thursday, 06/18 told me something COMPLETELY different from what the Rep I spoke to on Friday 06/19. OBVIOUSLY their office isn't on the same page. I first opened an account with Credit One to begin building a credit history. Over five years, I've encountered numerous problems with Credit One's online payment system. Most of these have been fairly trivial (momentary unplanned disruptions in access to the customer website; failure of the telephone system for activating a new card, requiring me to call in to customer service and spend an unreasonable amount of time on hold to complete a process that should take less than two minutes), but the most recent one isn't, and in all honesty, a credit card company that charges fees and interest has an obligation to ensure that its technology works and that its customers have access to customer support in order to resolve problems that might occur when it doesn't.
I have often considered taking my business elsewhere, but figured it made sense for credit-building purposes to keep this account open instead, regardless of the annual fees and iffy technical stability. At this point, I'm seriously reconsidering that decision. Two years ago, my spouse and I had to change our checking account number after our bank's database was compromised. At the time, I updated my Credit One account to take payment from the new account number and removed the old one, and since then have been paying my bill from the new checking account. There have been occasional hiccups with the payment system--in May of this year (2020), for example, I received a message indicating that my payment hadn't been received when, in fact, it had been received and was reflected in the account overview when I logged into the website.
This month (June 2020), I attempted payment twice. On 01 June, I logged in and made a payment from the website. On 03 June, I received an email indicating that the payment had been returned (though no indication was given as to why it had been returned). Since I knew I had more than enough money in my checking account to cover the payment and had no further information at hand, I assumed there was some kind of momentary glitch on the part of either Credit One or my bank, signed back into Credit One's site, and ran the payment again.
Imagine my surprise when I received an email indicating that my account had been closed due to "multiple" (read: TWO) returned payments. I called customer service immediately and discovered that they seem to have no protocol for dealing with this situation that THEIR payment system caused, and which stands to damage my credit rating if it is not resolved from their end, as their system automatically reports the closure of the account in terms that are injurious to the account-holder's credit rating.
After an hour on the phone with two different agents, I learned that Credit One's system had reverted to using the old checking account number *even though I was selecting the current checking account number on the payment system interface.* As someone who's worked with banking databases and web interface development, this suggests to me that the database containing clients' payment information has been incorrectly restored/merged from an old backup and/or that the client-side interface isn't handling database calls correctly.
Worse, I don't think the customer service agent I spoke to actually understood what I meant when I explained that the account from which the system was attempting to take payment had been closed for two years, that I had not selected that account on the payment interface, and that this was a significant technical problem on THEIR end that needs to be addressed.
Please note that I don't fault the individual customer service agents for this: they were polite and did their best, but they clearly haven't been trained to deal with this kind of situation. I suspect that they may not have the technical background to understand the nature of the problem in question. That said, the company has made resolving this problem quite difficult and clearly hasn't provided its CS agents with a resolution path for this kind of situation, which is absolutely unacceptable.
I was given a kind of stop-gap resolution path requiring me to get an "account verification letter" from my bank and fax it to Credit One. Given that all I'm asking them to do is notice that they've been trying to take payment from an account I removed from their system two years ago, this seems patently ridiculous, but I'm going to do it anyway, because the CS agents don't get to decide how to handle the case. They're "just following orders," so to speak. The fact that this should never have happened in the first place and wasn't my fault seems beyond their understanding.
I've historically avoided dealing with Credit One's customer service department by phone because there's always an unreasonably long hold time (note to companies: if you find that you're always "experiencing high volume," the solution is to hire more support staff and provide better training; when customers hear that phrase in the hold message every time they call in, we know it's a lie and that volume is ALWAYS high). However, regardless of the fact that it's 2020 and both email and internet chat have been around for decades, Credit One makes neither option readily available.
I'm still in the midst of trying to resolve this problem, but at this point I can't recommend this company to potential customers. CreditOne seemed like a reasonable place to begin building a credit history, but if they don't handle this situation appropriately, it will actually *damage* my credit history instead. Proceed with caution, and if you do find yourself using Credit One to build credit, move on to a better credit card company as soon as possible.

DO NOT OPEN AN ACCOUNT WITH THIS COMPANY! I have had two cards with them and pay them off every month. In March of this year I see my statement and there are over $800 in fraudulent charges. One of the charges is for $650 at at grocery store. The crooks had tried to use the card at a Walmart and it was declined. But the Kroger AND these idiots approved a charge for $650. So I call in and report this. I did NOT lose my card and it was in my possession. Furthermore these stores are nowhere close to where I live. The customer service rep flags my account, they send me another card, and do an investigation.
Fast forward to 3 weeks ago and I open my account app and see ALL the charges have been added back on to my account. I called again and was told that it was proven the card was used with a chip, and THUS I am accountable. I lost my everloving mind on these people. I told them they DID NOT do an investigation because if they pulled the security cameras they would have seen that it was not me. The brazen thief's even got gas at the Kroger gas station right next to the store. I use Exxon and Shell only for the detergents in the gas, and do not use grocery store gas due to the issues with my car.
I was told to REOPEN the investigation, I had to make a police report. And lo and behold, another credit card was stolen from my mailbox and somehow activated. The jerks went to Kroger again, and spent 350.00 and then filled up their car again. I called the police and also Chase Bank and they plan to open a very thorough investigation as I never even received this card. But obviously to anyone with a brain these are the SAME people.
So I have had to yet spend valuable time trying to deal with Credit One and resend in everything I had before with a police report. The very fact that Walmart turned the card down for no ID, and then they went across the street, would tell a fraud investigator that it WAS NOT ME! I have an ID to match the card. But not these people. Oh no. So when this is over I will close over 3 grand in credit just to get away from them and will tell everyone I can about this deplorable treatment. Utterly disgusted with this company. It took two times for this company to close my account. Their employees lied of closing my account, mailing closed account documents, and they purposely harass you to pay late fees on the account the day before the new billing statement comes out. Their tactics to gouge money out of their customers is horrific. I will never recommend, perform transactions, or promote this company. Then the nerve to act like they are performing you a favor when they rescind these monthly "annual charges" and weird time of the month late fee charges.
Again their employees should have access to all customer information that is deemed necessary to help the customer such as "knowing the date of the next charge to the customer's account". They should also record the conversations as evidence of words exchanged since their employees are not trained to properly document key pieces of information from those phone conversations. People stick to Capital One, Discover, Visa, Chase, and more reputable companies for opening lines of credit to protect yourself from leeches of the earth like Credit One Bank.

I hate doing this, Credit One is a crooked credit card company. I have had them as a credit card since August 2019, not once have I had access to my statements through their website or app, who knows where that money is actually going. Every month I have tried to pay my bill, the payments get returned. It forces me to have to deal with their "fantastic" customer service to pay my bill, late because it takes 5 days to process and tell me it gets returned, but while speaking to these "people" I have to pay a $5-$10 processing fee... Kinda shady already right? Well April 2020 I decided to pay the balance and shred my card never to deal with this Idiocracy again, guess what?! Got returned but no one told me. No update, nothing... Just got an email saying my account is being locked out and I have a much larger balance because of interest and late fees and whatnot. Great...
I call to get this resolved and am hung up on twice, then switched hands thrice after to basic Account Managers who refused to give me any information AND they DON'T HAVE A FRAUD TEAM! Then get transferred over and over to the "highest manager" Derrick (**), he lies to me and refuses to give information about my account and transfers me to a co-worker! It's just criminal and what the heck do I do at this point?! Any suggestions?
In the last few months, most companies have been kind to people who are struggling, most financial institutions aren't reporting negative to your credit bureaus, CreditOne is. This is where I draw the line, my credit suffered from stupid activity in the past when I was a teenager and made dumb mistakes, now I'm actually trying to fix those mistakes and am so close to being completely debt free, I pay my bills (or try and fail in this case), this is what happens. Now I have points shaved off my credit for something I really didn't think would happen, paying my bill... #creditone #creditonecons #creditonethiefs #creditonesuspect #creditonefraud #creditonestealingfrommybaby #dontusecreditone #abuseofpower #financialinstitutethieves #hurtcredit

I was given a $2k limit and two months later they gave me a small but appreciated cli of $200 which brought my new cl to $2200. Since owning this card I have paid a total of $2 if I’m not mistaken. My credit score was in the 640’s when I decided to get back in the credit game because my wife and I were buying a house and would carry a relatively modest mortgage.
In 10 months all of my scores have increased by a lot, Fico 8 Experian 725, Equifax 740, & Trans Union 737, Vantage 3.0 Experian 738, Equifax 744, & Trans Union 738 and one reason is because Credit One reports my onetime payments every single month like clockwork just like they would if you were late. And by the way credit card banks are not allowed to report a late payment to the credit bureaus unless you are at least 30 days late. Some of these reviews are exaggeration and or flat out lies and you only know the rules these cc issuers play by to know when some reviews are laughable!
Btw I have never used the express payment and have had no trouble paying on time. Yep they take a few days to credit back posted payments to your cl but so does many other highly thought of banks. If you’re going to pay late and only pay a minimum balance every month by all means stay away from Credit One!! And Capital One, Chase, Citi, Wells, Amex, Apple Card, etc etc.. Thx & good luck.

First off, when making a payment, they don't process it right away. They will hold the money for a few days, then process it. There were times where I paid a day early, the money was not immediately taken from my bank account, and now I get a notification that my payment is late, and my Credit Score negatively affected. Second, their customer service is not too great. You would be on hold for a while, and I even spoke to one lady today, she was rude, was then transferred to the account management department, and the person hung up on me, claiming they couldn't hear my voice, while I was almost screaming on the phone trying to make sure my voice was loud enough.
Lastly, I decided to close my account in Feb. of this year. I spoke to an account Rep. and I told her I wanted my account closed. I paid off my remaining balance at the time, my account came to $0.00, I checked. Now, I get a call today saying there was a balance on my account, because for March and April, I was being charged late fees and interest fees for both months, which goes back to my second point. It was all good in the beginning months, but then after while, the experience became went downhill.

I was preapproved for a Credit One credit card so I applied. I was instantly approved for a $2100 credit limit. Before activating the credit card, I read my user agreement. The first thing I noticed (other than the high annual fee) was the daily interest model they use. You are charged interest every day so you will end up paying interest whether or not you pay the bill in full each month.
I read countless negative reviews but decided to keep the card anyways, as most bad reviews seemed to be a result of poor credit practices and as this is a credit rebuilding card, they are taking more of a risk than other creditors since they primarily target people with bad or no credit. Let me say that Credit One makes everything more difficult than it needs to be. For starters, I was patiently awaiting my annual fee to be charged since I’ve seen reviews that state customers didn’t know it was charged and then they received interest fees, late payment fees, and negative remarks on their credit reports. To prevent that from happening, I downloaded the app and signed up for daily balance alerts. One entire billing cycle went by and I wasn’t charged an annual fee even though the user agree states that the annual fee will be immediately withdrawn from your available credit.
Then lo and behold a couple of weeks later my daily alert showed a balance of $75. I immediately made an $80 payment to be sure I covered the interest. I was a little peeved that they charged me on an unexpected date and I could absolutely see how that could have led to late fees and late credit remarks but I anticipated this and planned accordingly. To me this practice was rather sketchy and added to the distrust I have of them.
Next they wanted me to verify my bank account for an $80 payment. The app stated that two small deposits would be made and that I had to verify them. I patiently waited and no such deposits were made. However my payment was withdrawn without any problems. I am however afraid to even use the card since my next payment they may request proof from my bank that I am authorized to use the account and most banks will NOT provide such a letter on their letterhead as Credit One requests for some reason. Such a request is silly, inconvenient and impractical.
The other problem I’ve experienced is 3 times already I’ve tried to login to my account only to be told that my password was wrong. My phone saves all my passwords and this is the only account I’ve had this problem with. Even entering the username and password manually I wasn’t able to login and had to reset my password 3 times! I imagine this must be the result of faulty software or data storage on their part and just adds to the inconvenience of this card.
I was going to keep the card in case of emergencies since I already paid the annual fee but I am afraid that if I make a large purchase I will not be able to make the payment due to their authorization polices and I will either have to pay the fee to make a next day payment over the phone (which I don’t really understand since you are still providing your bank info) or I’ll have to buy a money order and risk them claiming they didn’t receive it or holding on to it for too long. Both of those outcomes would ultimately add to additional interest due to their daily interest model. I think the reason they have such an impractical policy may be due to customers disputing the payments and as their clientele is comprised of mostly people with poor credit practices, they’ve probably been burned. However they should reserve such unnecessary authorization methods only from those that have disputed charges and/or payments.
Overall the card is useless as I am too afraid to use it and it’s way more trouble than it’s worth, at least for me. If you are genuinely trying to rebuild your credit and don’t mind all the hassles they inflict on their customers then this card may help you. However, if you are able to get a different credit card I highly suggest avoiding this one. The only reason I gave them 2 stars instead of 1 is because they give people a second or first chance at building credit...however, with their practices you may end up with a lower credit score than before. Beware, you’ve been warned!

Well for some reason a payment that was processed didn’t go thru Bc I forgot to take the funds out of my other bank account and make them available (I can put funds in a virtual vault). So when I realized it a few hours later, I made them available and waited a few days and they never tried again to take the funds out and next thing I know, I can’t login into their site. So I call them and get someone in India apologizing for the inconvenience and she would be happy to help. Well, they didn’t help anything, the account had been closed because the payment did not go thru.
No phone call, no email, they didn’t try to process it again or anything. After the first year they divide the annual fee in monthly installments that are deducted from your monthly payments. They force you to make payments online by only allowing you to only make payments using your checking account and it takes 4-5 days for processing. They give you an option to make payments and have funds available immediately but they charge you an extra $10 dollars to do so.
Their customer service are over in India and you can't understand what most of them are saying from their broken English. I've been with company for a little over a year. I've never understood the balance they come up with vs the balances I record. Customer service is extremely rude and non helpful. We never reach an conclusion and I know I walk away paying more. That's it! Never again. They are scammers. I will stick with Capital One! What's in your wallet baby! Sure won't be CREDIT ONE EVER AGAIN.

This company is a joke. They charge absurdly high annual fees of 75$ late fees are 39.99 and high interest. I closed this account as fast as I could. Why have this card when you can have many different options in rewards cards and no annual fees.

I accepted the offer from Credit One Bank even though it wasn't a good one because they claim to improve your credit by using their card. They give you a $300 credit limit but $100 of that is already used up by their annual fee. Then they charged me another $7 just to get my card. So less than $200 is what you get. Then I added my bank account to my credit one profile so I could make frequent payments and keep my balance low. They make you jump though hoops just to use your own bank account. They said I had to wait 5 days for them to make deposits into my bank account and then they would pull the money back out just so I could verify the amounts so they would know it's really my bank account. After going through that hassle I still wasn't allowed to pay my bill. I tried using their app and their website and just kept getting an error that I have to call customer service. So I called customer service and was left on hold.
No one ever comes to the phone to help you. I learned the hard way that the only way to get anyone on the phone is call back and select the option that card was stolen. Then someone answers right away. When someone finally did get on the line they barely spoke any English so you can't understand them. The employee kept telling me I was not allowed to pay my bill using my bank account until the day before it was due. They actually want you to not pay your bill on time so they can charge you a late fee. What legit company won't let you pay your bill early?! I told them I want to close my account with them since they won't let me pay my bill till the day before it's due. I've only had the account 2 or 3 weeks but they said I still have to pay them the annual fee if I close it. I would not recommend this company to anyone and in fact I will warn everyone about how unethical they are.

Had an unauthorized charge that I was attempting to resolve over the phone. Part of their verification procedure is to have you recall a password (if you’ve set one up over the phone) on top of providing the last 4 of your SSN. I could not remember the password and as such have no avenue of resolving the issue; I feel that in the circumstance of an unauthorized charge I should have been able to resolve the issue with a supervisor perhaps, but no. Their supervisor could not help without this password that was created over a year ago that I have admittedly forgotten.
Incredibly poor customer service given the circumstance that is unapologetically and inconveniently outsourced and has remained lackluster for the entirety of my business dealings with them. Another talking point: $39.00 late fees even if your auto pay has hit a snag bc of ambiguous tech issues. Will be closing account with them once my debts are resolved.
