I had problems with them. I would not recommend their credit card. I regret ever having the card. Discover and Citi and Chase are much better to have. Save yourself a lot of grief because it does not matter if you make every payment on time. They do not care about their customers.

One of the worst. LOW initial credit limit. Asked to raise it - THEY DINGED me not once with a credit check, but TWICE! I complained - they directed me to file a grievance with Transunion and the other credit bureaus. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

This is the worst credit company I have ever dealt with. If you have a problem/dispute charge, you would only be tossed around "Customer Relations" team who barely speak English with no intention to help customers. It is obvious that those people are instructed not to do anything to help. Instead, they tell you they would call after investigation, and of course, you will never get a call. No matter what document you send to prove your claim, they just ignore. One of the team member told me they received all the documents but didn't even look at it. As a result, I lost $500 charged by a fraudulent handyman. Very bad, unethical company. I had more than one credit cards from Barclay but will cancel all.

I have been with Barclays since 2007. I needed a letter sent to my lender that was time sensitive saying my balance was at $0. I was told I needed to FAX an authorization form which takes 5 business days to process and then once they received it they would physically MAIL a piece of paper to my lender which took over even longer. I had called Citicards and Wells Fargo Credit Card before I reached out to Barclays and had absolutely NO ISSUE requesting this over the phone. I don't understand why in 2022 Barclays is still requiring me to write a physical letter to request for what I need.
What is the point of recording calls and verifying who I am with my birthday and last for social security if we are still operating like the 1990s??? As big of a company Barclays is they should be up to speed on how Citicard and Wells Fargo is doing to stay efficient in a DIGITAL WORLD. I am very dissatisfied and will probably cancel my credit card after this and not recommend Barclays to anyone else.

Filed a dispute about a missing refund for $5700. They held up my card for over 90 days investigating the wrong transaction. Agents are just note takers. You can't get any managers on the phone. Each agent told me something different about my status. They make you wait weeks and months for any updates. After they issue a resolve, whether right or wrong your case is closed. I have not been able to get my case re-opened, yet they keep asking me to write a request to reopen. I send letters and nothing. Now they are expecting me to make this huge minimum payment based on a balance that is in dispute. Nobody is helpful. All agents are overseas and all just reading a script to get you off the phone. Stay away from this company because if you ever have a dispute, good luck with getting your money. I'm still waiting on a resolve.
This company has made the errors, yet the customer has to suffer. I filed complaints. I requested my case to be escalated. I asked to speak with a manager who has some power. I spoke to billing. I spoke to customer service. NOBODY HAS ANY AUTHORITY TO DO ANYTHING. Their so-called "back office" doesn't even have a person you can talk to. All they say is we have have to take it through our process. Poor policy! I have been the perfect customer, never late and paying my bills on time for years and two Barclay Cards. They just lost a good customer!

Their NFL points card is a total scam. I have been saving my point since I started using the card. Now that I have over 80K in points and can get something I want. They removed all the memorabilia and autographed items. Now you can only donate your points or use them for LAST YEARs Superbowl. When I called they said they had no idea what happened... 5 months I waited. Now I get an email that says I will lose my point due to a chance over. This is a total scam. Pulling all my points as cash and will start using my regular Master Card.

I have had the card for a few years. I called and questioned the double interest charges. I was told I would have to pay off the balance of the transfer. Which I did, as well as my monthly payment. I received my monthly statement and again was charged a double interest fee after paying my transfer balance off. I called and received a run-around after requesting to speak with management. At the moment I am waiting for a callback, after spending an hour trying to settle this issue.

Had the card 7 years since 2014 paid off in full each month and never late including $7600 just 7 days ago. All they kept saying was I could call Transunion credit agency. No changes in income or payments just lowered. I would never use anything associated with Barclay card. I am completely confused on their actions.

I paid my card off on 2/2/22. Funds cleared my bank on 2/3/22. Barclays credit card claims that I still have the money, my bank hasn't cleared it. They also have not accurately reflected the payment, placing it on hold until 2/9/22. Of all of the credit cards I paid on 2/2/22, Barclays card is the ONLY ONE who claims not to have the funds, placed my payment on hold and has not posted the payment. This is not the first time this has happened. It is every time the card is paid in full.
Additionally, they record the conversation, but if you tell them you are recording on your end, they refuse to talk to you. Recording goes both ways and it makes me wonder why they don't want the consumer to record the conversation but they can. I believe they do in order to hide their poor business practices. My husband and I have had rude customer service in the past, so bad that he closed his card when the agent insulted me while we were on the phone and after today, I too, will be closing this card.

I signed up for a Barclay's Choice Privileges card may years ago so I could take advantage of special deals through the Choice Hotels network of lodgings. Always paid the full amounts early on any balances. I just received a letter from Barclay's that they closed my account due to inactivity. I last used the card in March 2020 for $293.65. About that time we accelerated the Chinese Virus alarms and travel was curtailed. Now, less than 2 years later, they closed my account for no legitimate reason other than to save a few bytes on their computer system. It's not as if they send me any mail that costs them a tiny bit. And, their interest rates are exorbitant even though my credit rating is over 800! AVOID this company at all costs! It's their loss. They asked me to apply for a new card. **! TLDR (YUCK). Firstly, I should say I was banking with them for a number of years using the Uber card, and while it had pretty good rewards through Uber I can confidently say everything about the bank from the customer service to the web interface was the worst bank I've ever worked with. Briefly, I have experience with Chase, Capital One, and American Express for credit cards mostly, and this was multiple steps down from any of those in every category.
But the real kicker is just how they handled the various transitions over the years, often just sending some weird thing in the mail, often with scant details or more details that you have to request that come 7-10 business days by mail only and aren't online and won't be emailed... Yeah, I'm sure that's because of security and privacy and not because they're doing something that they know you won't like. Also I should say that when I disputed a charge with Capital One it was a very nice experience. Barclayscard... Well I actually don't even know if it ever got resolved because I clocked out at 4 hours of my time wasted trying to figure it out 4 months after I filed the dispute. It just isn't worth it.

Barclays Leaders - My wife and I are in a crisis and need help please. We are trying to buy a home and our credit score has been over 800+ for a decade. We very recently got a new credit card AARP/Barclays for travel points. The limit was approx $15k and we had autopay set up, always pay in full. Our anniversary vacation we bought *last week* was $16k with taxes/etc.. We received no declination, no alarm/notice that we went over our limit and needed to pay a measly $1000 difference. Nothing.
This week our credit score went down 100+++ points into to 600s after a decade. Everything else we have is perfect. We called Experian only to find out they got a letter from you guys. We had autopay set up on this card and always pay in full. ZERO communication of any issue from your team. We are buying a home right now for our family and they are about to run the credit report to close the loan. our team is not helping us correct our credit score emergently despite us sending in money today before our autopayment timing to fix this. We offered to pay early before the autopay. They won't do anything. They only do it monthly and we can't wait with trying to buy our family home.
You guys aren't giving good communication to customers like every other card we have. Your customer support manager Shirley refused to help. Please help - we are so beyond desperate so I can buy my family a home I've worked my tail off for years to be able to do and earned the credit score we earned. My family shouldn't be penalized because of poor communication processes and lack of customer support from your team. Please work with Experian emergently to fix today/tomorrow and then I will delete all social media posts I'll be making about this issue. Thanks, Ed ** JD/MBA.

Barclays is the WORST company I've ever worked with. They made a clerical error that was sending statements to the wrong address, which caused a $34 purchase to cause the card to go past due. Misleading promos & extremely poor customer service. I was emailed a 0% APR for 7 months promotional offer. Clicked the button in the email to enroll. I was taken to the main page in the Barclays account portal. Was unsure if it worked, so tried again. Same thing. So, I assumed I was enrolled. Come to find out (after I was hit with interest), I wasn't enrolled at all.
Contacted customer service, explained that I followed directions in the promo email, used the button in the promo email to enroll. One would deduct it was either a broken link or a very misleading marketing ploy (I'm going to choose the latter). Because "no enrollment date was found" (of course there was no enrollment date since apparently I wasn't enrolled), after 3 weeks of moving my case between departments and obtaining a direct line to the "Managers department," I was told that "nothing can be done." Two minutes later I paid off my balance and they'll never see a dime from me again. All I wanted was reimbursed for the interest I was charged ($33) and 0% APR until the end of the promo like I was suppose to have. You're worth less than $35 to them.

Explain this to the customer service rep to see if they would reduce or waive the annual fee since the card could not be used in the way it was designed. I thought it was a good card. I would have liked to keep it but they were just so rigid and only really cared about taking the fee from me. There was no empathy or understanding whatsoever on the part of the customer service agent. Just seems to me that the company cares about money and only money. In the morning of 9/28/21, I attempted to purchase an item and my purchase was denied. That afternoon I called Barclaycard to ask why my card was denied. Automated service sent my call to representatives to help me.... After over 30 mins I spoke with rep and was informed I made too many purchase attempts so they froze my account. After finding out these attempted purchases I had nothing to do with we agree to freeze my card and order me a new card, but would take 7-10 days to receive. I asked rep could I get it faster. Her reply was yes overnight but I would need to pay for that service.
I've been with Barclaycard since 2014 and in the past if there was any charges out of the ordinary they would call me right away to inquire if I was attempting make that purchase and then they close card and send me one overnight at no cost to the customer. I explained to service rep past practice then requested to speak with an supervisor to figure this out. She transferred my call and I was on hold over 45 mins. I gave up and hung up! Horrible service.
Now day 2 attempted to get into my account and I'm locked out. Called again on hold for over 35 min until service rep answered phone. Explained my issues with him. He cancelled my card and will send me a new one 7-10 days from now and told me he can't help with my account locked but can transfer me to an account specialist to explain why I'm not able to review my account. Now I'm still waiting on hold for an account representative to answer... So now I'm really frustrated. Been waiting now over 125 mins. Totally the worst customer service ever. I have had a Barclays Bank Mastercard for several years. What a litany of problems! First they lost my regular payment, and I paid overdue charges. Eventually they found my payments and refunded some of the charges by check, but then they put a stop payment on the check without informing me so I paid a bank penalty when I deposited it.
The latest problem was when the card number was hacked and obvious daily fraud perpetrated--but totally missed by their fraud scanning (Chase Visa would have found this in a flash). Then I cancelled the card with their Customer Service, except she forgot to tell the account so I continued to be dunned for the $17,000 in bogus charges, and no record of cancelling the account could be found. Eventually I got to the fraud dept again, after being given the wrong number by Barclaycard, only to find the computers were done, so call back some time in the future. I called back a week later to check on the status and they said the case had been cancelled - I was not notified. I filed another fraud claim with customer service and once again called back weeks later to find that they had marked the charge as "valid" without notifying me of any of the details of the investigation. I finally got a hold of the fraud department and they reversed the charge and said they would open a case. I was sent a photocopy of the convenience check that was clearly not my writing or signature and had some weird writing on the back that didn't look like English.
I called back 3 weeks later when I got a notification that my account was past due and late fees were accruing. A few years ago while booking a cruise I applied for and get the Carnival Fun Points Mastercard issued by Barclays with an initial credit limit of $5000.00. I use this card almost exclusively for cruises. I have always paid the card off within the promotional period for each cruise. In August I booked a cruise starting September 26th. I've already paid 1/2 of the cruise and only have a $900 balance. I have not missed or been late on ANY credit card for 30+ years. My oldest credit card is AMEX issued in 1993. I have multiple bank cards with high limits (24K, 12K, 15K, 10K), some of these do not have balances. Yes I do have cards with balances and I recently refinance my home to cutoff 9 years of payments.
Tomorrow is the date the on-line check-in opens and I was planning on using the Carnival card for the entire trip. I received an alter from Credit Karma that my credit limit was lowered to $1100 or by 78% leaving me with only $200 to use for the upcoming cruise. I spoke to 3 different customer service "managers" who refused to re-instate the original credit limit. This is a horrible way to treat a customer that has the means and proven track record of 30+ years that has NEVER had an issue with paying any credit card, car payment or mortgage.
I have other cards to use for the trip, but I won't get the 4X points they promised when I made the reservation. I have one other card issued by Barclays - I can't wait to see how long it takes for them to lower that credit limit. In a world in which all big corporations deliver more or less the same mediocre, impersonal level of outsourced customer service, Barclays wins the award for ... WORST customer service EVER. I opened an account so that I could earn Wyndham Rewards points for purchases and used my credit card whenever I traveled for several years, until suddenly, I found out, on my own (without warning or notification from the company) that my account had been closed due to "inactivity."
I was never particularly fond of Barclays or its customer support, so it was easy to live without them. However, after COVID has subsided, and I began to travel again, I decided to re-apply for a new card in order to earn points. Boy, was THAT a mistake. I didn't think a company could sink from a two- to one-star rating in less than a year, but Barclays has once again exceeded my expectations.
In what should have been a relatively straightforward process, my application has been subjected to a familiar series of delays, oversights, and missteps that I have come to expect from Barclays. There was no communication whatsoever by email, phone, or U.S. mail as to the status of my application, and as my departure date drew near, I finally ended up calling customer service and spending the next two hours being shuttled back and forth between customer service and the fraud department (for some reason) before a series of hapless associates managed to put the broken pieces back together again.
After I had received and registered my card, I discovered, to my utter delight, that several websites denied my new card as a form of payment and in one case, cancelled an order I had placed after the fact. Nevertheless, I have managed to make about a half dozen purchases with it, but upon logging in for the first time to view my activity, I was greeted with a friendly WARNING banner and a request for me to call customer service to resolve a "discrepancy." NOTE: I started writing this lengthy review over 20 minutes ago, while on hold for the second time today, waiting to speak with a Barclays "relationship manager," but all I have received so far is a dangerous dose of bad elevator music and frequent interruptions from a helpful computer voice, assuring me to PLEASE HOLD.

When I did get someone to talk to, they said they took care of everything on their end, but turns out NOTHING was ever done. They just gave me lip service. I started writing letters to the customer service department because I did not know how else to communicate with them when they kept hanging up on me. I wrote over 8 letters and never got one response. I will NEVER do business with them again. I have had bad customer service before, but they take the title as worse ever in my book. I will never go any kind of business with them, or anyone they are affiliated with. Consumer beware of this company.
Original Review: I had fraudulent charges on my credit card. So I followed instructions on the back of my card statement and reported the fraudulent charges in writing in January 2021. I then got a new card statement with late fees and interest charges in February. I would call to get a status on the fraud and the call representative did not speak English well. She did not understand me, I did not understand her, so she just hung up on me. I called back and was put on hold and then the call hung up. I kept writing to the Investigations Department because I could not get ahold of anyone via the phone. I called again and was told it was being taken care. Then another statement would arrive with more late fees and charges. So basically I was lied to as well. I don't recommend this bank to ANYONE. It has been almost 6 months of HELL dealing with them.

I have been Barclay’s credit card customer over 10 years with an excellent payment history. And my experience is not very good. This company will stab theirs good standing customers in the back by lowering credit limit when you expect it less. For example: when you pay down the credit cards they lower your credit limit to the minimum. Also the company did not report paid off accounts to the credit bureaus. I wonder if by Barclay’s policy they have a waiting period on reporting paid off accounts to the credit bureaus because of possible credit score increase. I have not experience anything like described above from my any of other credit card companies accounts. In conclusion: Use Barclay’s cards while building or rebuilding credit. But get rid of Barclay’s accounts as soon as possible (when you can dodge the few points of credit score loss for closed accounts) before they find a reason to stab you in the back by harming your credit score.

Barclays Bank (who barely speak English) first refused stating it was a signed for charge which it was not, then refused stating that the company was not a recognized company??? We went ahead and just paid it.
Then some months later out of the blue with no charges a charge appeared and when we called in they stated "interest charge" but how do you have interest on a account that was paid in full with no charges? After fighting with them and the fact they kept doctoring documents we cancelled the card. Now they have hit our credit report with derogatory remarks, checking out credit etc. and has lowered our credit score by 85 points!! How are they able to get away with fraud and lies like this!

I asked for a refund after 3 days of nothing but a run around, discovered 27 BBB complaints and multiple complaints with several District attorney's offices and 17 people on Facebook marketplace I had connected with about them never receiving their orders. They wrote in on the bottom of the docu sign, "No refunds on deposits" which by law is forgery. I would have never given this company 2683 dollars had I thought at minute one I would lose that money by canceling an order that was never put in progress. I immediately contacted Barclay to do a charge back which they did, then a month later the charge was back on there. Contacted them again and they said the merchant met the criteria for the charge, I said, "What criteria and why wasn't I involved in that discussion?"
Of course they never sent me the letter then made the decision on. I spent a day gathering all the scamming information about that company including stories from 12 of the 17 people who were scammed on Facebook marketplace, copy of the 27 complaints on the BBB and copies of the Michigan and Ohio District attorney's office Complaints along with a CD where I taped every conversation with Zach Pryers the owner of Behrs buildings and his constant lies. None of any of that changed their minds.
I simply told them "you are in violation of the Consumer protection laws and I'm going to pay the balance of my card with exception of the 2683.50, close the card then send a copy of the information I sent you to all 3 credit bureaus so when you try and ruin my spectacular credit others will see what a fraud you are as a credit card company." Within few days I received a letter from Barclay requesting various pieces of personal documents in order to verify my identity. I refuse to send this kind of documents over any kind of mail or fax since this can be easily used by anyone to steal my identity. Next thing I get is email notifying me that I owe $30.50. I called again. They said they cant take a payment over the phone because my account is locked. Then 10 days later I got a letter that they were declining my dispute and I could finally respond with more evidence. I submitted the details of the communication and confirmed that the service had not been provided. Over a month later I got a letter again declining the dispute with a simple reason "The merchant has not violated the terms and conditions of the contract", which is untrue. They clearly don't care about actually providing purchase protection to their cardholders, it's just a front to make them look like they care.

I was informed that my case was assigned to an agent on Dec 22. Since then I have been charged a late fee of $40 plus interest of $1.00 by Barclays while the case is still open and in dispute. But what is egregious is that Barclays have reported me as being delinquent in my payment. Applied for a Barclays card last October to purchase an apple product. The credit limit was around $2000.00 which was fine with me. The card was a good offer and was 0% for 18 months. Less than six months down the road after I had made every payment on time, in advance, and well over the minimum payment, they lowered my credit limit dropping my credit score 20 points. The reason? An auto loan that is charged off which I have been in a legal battle over for two years due to no fault of my own. I received this notice in the mail TWO months after I got the credit alert that they had made this decision. Never once have I had any item on my credit paid late outside of that one item that again was not due to anything I did and had been disputed and battled with a lawyer. All items that would have come up with my initial approval for the card since that issue happened in 2017 and 2018 mind you. Gee thanks Barclays.
In addition, I had a few dollars in interest show up here and there on a card that was supposed to have no interest for 18 months. Didn’t make a big deal or mention it because it was a few dollars. I have multiple accounts I set up payments out of. I accidentally selected the wrong one a few months ago and so the payment bounced back. Again- fine. My mistake and I still made a big payment out of another account well in advance. Well this time, because of how bad their website is, I had a $300 payment pending for DAYS on end. I thought the total payoff after that was about $250.00. I selected the full payoff amount end paid from my other account. Well because their site doesn’t update, the $300 payment was not needed and a huge overpayment. This payment bounced back and on my bank's end said the reason was there was no balance due. I got charged a $29 NSF fee by Barclays for this payment.
I called because the funds WERE and still ARE there and was told I must not have had the funds because that wouldn’t happen and my bank had no way of knowing. I’m in finance and have worked at plenty of banks to know this is not always the case. I explained again that my bank said it bounced because there was no balance or payment due on the card so it bounced back. She argued with me again and said they do not refund fees and maybe to just set it up for the minimum payment automatically next time so I can be sure I have the money to pull. I am beyond furious. I asked for one $29.00 fee back on a payment for a non existing balance and was both turned down and made to feel stupid. Why would a $300 payment on a card with a $0 balance due go through? And why would I get a NSF fee on THAT? Hm? Terrible customer service. The logic made no sense. Will cut up my card and never use Barclays again.

I opened my account with Barclays to purchase an Apple product, and was approved for $1800.00 which was more than the item I planned to purchase. Start out with a lower utilization rate is always awesome. I also like that I had 0% interest on the item for 18 months as long as I paid off the balance within that time frame. I have paid $73.00 over the minimum payment for every payment for 6 months. In December 2020, I noticed a significant drop in my credit score, and come to find out Barclays had lowered my credit limit on my card to $1200.00 making my utilization rate extremely high. When I reached out to Barclays I was advised that it was because of a reported late payment and closure of another account on my credit report.
The mentioned account was one in dispute and for a grand sum of $23.00. I will take advantage of the 0% interested and continue to make my payments on time until the 18 month window has closed, however I will NEVER bank with Barclays in the future. This unnecessary change affected my credit during a pandemic, and it was done so with NO consideration for the consumer. Occasionally for no reason whatsoever, Barclays E-mails me and shows me a HUGE 30 point drop in my SCORE. I am extremely well-versed in my FICO score. I spent hours on the phone and got reports mailed to me from Transunion and there is Absolutely 100% no legitimate no reason for this drop. None of the other sites show my score has dropped. Only Barclays. The drop is unique to them. Transunion says it is not because of them. My score on there was 30 points higher, yet Barclays contends it gets the score from Transunion. This is a lie. If you call Barclays, they have someone from the Philippines who knows nothing about anything.
If all of the other numerous places from which I check my score report a score 30 points higher, and Barclays is the only one that drops it by 30 THIRTY whole points, then the problem is that Barclays is committing fraud. And the only reason I can think is that I am not using their card to spend money every month. So they punish me by dropping my score,. When I go on all the other credit card's FICO site, I see my score is high. When I get my credit reports from the 3 agencies is it high. But Barclays send me these horrible E-mail alerts "Your CREDIT SCORE HAS CHANGED." To upset me. This is intentional to upset me, and waste my time. IT is meant to shock and hurt me. It is false and fraudulent.
Barclays is the ONLY one to lower my score. It is FRAUD. Barclays should be thoroughly investigated for engaging in this matter of intimidating customers. IF you look at Barclays stock price, you will see they are financially in trouble. So intimidating customers by sending them false FICO alerts, is their way of trying to get cardholders to spend money. Barclays should be held accountable but when you call them they say to call Transunion because they get it from Transunion. My transunion score remains 30 points higher than the Barclays score. Barclays should pay penalties for fraud.

Would give zero stars if that were a possibility. Predatory practices from day one. First, they reduced my limit to just above my balance, which threw my credit data out of whack. Then they pulled a hard inquiry and closed the account a year after it was opened. I've been in autopsy for two years since its closure and my balance is literally still at the limit. They don't apply your payments to principal at all. It's as bad as a student loan. They keep recalculating the payments to be higher and higher despite me paying on time, and now it's gone to where I've had a payment bounce because they attempted to take so much out. One missed payment dropped my credit by 42 points, yet they gleefully took out this month's no problem. I'm over it and about ready to turn off autopsy and let it go to collections. The damage to my credit has already been done anyhow. Worst, most predatory bank.

Further, the return of payment is pandemic related and she should be aware that failing to refund is possibly illegal, given the current situation we are all in. There is already a class action investigation into companies unwilling to offer payment assistance, fee waivers, extensions, etc. I can bet Barclays card will have either an investigation launched against them or even a class action lawsuit... Failing to waive the fee, I'll simply pay off the account less the $15.00, I doubt any collection agency will attempt to collect on such a low amount. Few days later I went back into my account to find that the charge was still there and some of my regular charges had not been processed, causing fees. I contacted customer service and for 2 hours got the run around, from the temporary charges don't affect the available balance or it is the other company that put 2 charges in. Needless to say the other company did not put a hold or a double charge.
I finally got a manager and was told that their system randomly decides when and for how long it will leave a temporary charge on your account after they have posted it your account. So in other words they can choose to fraud you out of your money whenever they choose, by posting a your original charge and still hold a temporary charge against you. I have never been late on a payment to any creditor and my income actually increased a couple months before Barclays did this. Plus, I always paid at least double the minimum. After inquiring and being told that basically, they would not reconsider, I started paying down the card with intention of cancelling the account. Lo and behold, After paying it down to half, they decreased my limit again, so yet again, it looks like the card is maxed out. Meanwhile, several of my other cards have increased my credit limits.
Needless to say, my credit score took another hit because of Barclays. This seems like a very unfair practice. I can understand that they want to safeguard against being burned, but it would be better to keep the credit limit the same and just block further charges so the consumer's score is not affected....especially if there has NEVER been a late payment and the card is not being used. I don’t know if JetBlue cares, but they picked a loser when they dropped American Express and went with Barclays! Since it is almost impossible to speak to a human being these days (and one that can understand and speak English), we spent three phone calls and about an hour trying to get replacement cards for our compromised credit cards.. They are totally confused and unorganized. They sent my wife her card separately from mine and then when she tried to activate it, they said that it was compromised! How could this be? They didn’t know. We asked to speak with a supervisor.. he transferred us to a recording that instructed us to call back later!!! In my opinion, JetBlue needs to get a new provider for their credit card. These guys are bad news..

We had a dog trainer that was in the news (KTNV) for abusing a dog. It was a franchise, so HQ immediately revoked their license. We filed a dispute with Barclays to get the remaining portion of our dog training fees back since they obviously would be unable to complete training after having been shut down. The now-disgraced dog trainers disputed the claim, and Barclays sided with them! We contacted HQ, and they refunded our monies after we showed them proof of Barclays being duped. After getting our money back from HQ, we closed our account with Barclays. If Barclays can't even be competent enough to process a dispute from dog trainers forced out of business due to license revocation, they cannot be trusted to handle pretty much any other type of fraud claim. This one was an obvious call. For anyone who wants to read the news articles, here's a link:

I know I didn't. I only set up an auto pay with them for the amount of the agreement. When I tell the supervisors that it's odd how I entered into this repayment agreement & then would make a payment, set up on auto pay to repeatedly take out $1069.14 each month. Plus, I couldn't make any changes to the auto pay in the amount of $1069.14. Then, the 2 supervisors I talked with sounded dumb founded when this fact is pointed out.
The Office of the President is stuck on not getting what actually happened. The money was removed from them by my bank & they're stating they refunded the money. They also sent a letter telling me I missed a payment on the repayment agreement when I didn't miss any payments. They have record of the payments & the supervisor told me that I haven't missed any payments from what she saw but can't explain why I received the letter for a missed payment. This lady wanted to set up repeat payments for me & couldn't understand why I wouldn't trust them with my bank account information.

Called back to inquire why they would draw a payment for an account that is closed and their only response was it was a computer generated error, actually a customer representative error because it should have been cancelled when we closed the account. Was then told that it would take 25-30 days for direct deposit!. I have never heard anything so ridiculous in my entire life, complete B.S. They take money for a closed account, otherwise known as stealing, and then tell you you have to wait 25-30 days. BEWARE OF SETTING UP AUTOMATIC PAYMENTS!!! I have 4 other credit cards aside from this one, from other banks. I have all of them set up to pay the minimum due every month. Barclays is the only one that will double charge me. Meaning if I have already met the minimum payment for that month, the automatic “payment” will go through regardless. That is not the case with my other cards. I was totally unaware of this till this month.
I was trying to knock my balance down and so I actually paid the card off twice in one month. One $200 payment and then another $500 payment. Needless to say I’d already met the minimum due. I also had drained my checking account for the month. Not thinking they would process the “minimum due” automatic payment after I had just paid them $700 for that month, I wasn’t worried about it. Not only did they try to process it, and thus I got dinged for a NSF fee, they waited a week and DID IT AGAIN!!! I wasn’t notified either time. I AM FURIOUS. I argued with them for an hour to no avail. $150 in fees later (your bank charges you for NSFs too) and all I can say is I’m CANCELING THIS CARD ASAP!!!! Screw you Barclays!!!!

The bonus miles terms were -- spend $2,000 on the card within 90 days of having the card, the Hawaiian Airlines bonus miles would be credited. I spent $2,013 within 90 days of account approval (April 10th - July 8th), but I didn't get the bonus miles. When I enquired, Barclays said their account opening date was when you submitted the application form (April 8th), not the date when you were approved to use the account (April 10th).
I also reported that I was unable to use the credit card for about a month of the 90 days period because the chip on the Barclays' credit card stopped working. The faulty credit card was refused by the various merchants because it was a "chip card"; they refused to manually enter the #s. Had the Barclay card work, I would have easily put cleared the $2000 requirement within 60 days. The Barclays' helpdesk said that they did not see any rejected transactions and ignored the usage handicap. I then tried to cancel the card and get a partial refund of the membership fee. Barclays refused to refund the fee.

Payment due the first of every month as I don't get Social Security until the 4th Wed of every month. Come Nov 2017 the bank decided to revert back to the old due date which of course would make me late every month... That's why when I set up this payment plan I advised them I could not make payments on that due date and we agreed upon the first of each month. I called back to talk to management because I said, "The first gentleman I spoke to said that he would make notation of all of that and what I did, and told me if I did see a charge to call you." Barclays decreases your credit limit to below whatever your balance with them is, damaging your credit, because they will report to the Bureaus that you are over the credit limit usage with them. Did that make sense? Your balance is $3000, your credit limit is $3200... They review your account, lower your limit to 2800 making it seem like you've gone over the limit they granted you. Not only does this damage your credit rating but they also get to increase the interest rate on you due to your over-the-limit status with them. They make this change based on your accounts with other creditors. It's not even based on your relationship with them. Even if you have all your payments on time, they will continue to do the above, time after time, based on your credit usage with other creditors, even if your other accounts are in good standing. Wrong. Run away from this Barclays.

I had to move to another country and left my savings account with Barclays open in case I returned to the country. Had I known how horrible Barclays telephone banking was I would have never left my account open. Apparently the account I had didn't have an option for internet banking so I got stuck having to phone their international line anytime I needed something or some information. I don't know their hiring procedures but I never spoke to a native born, not once in all the years I've dealt with the bank (since 2013). I'm a foreigner, so I understand learning a second language but when it comes to things as important as someone access to their money, you better hire people that can communicate clearly and that has never been the case.
When setting up my telephone banking the person on the other line messed up my mother's maiden name and ever since then I have had huge issues trying to even access my bank account information, all because the operator had trouble understanding what I told them and putting the wrong information down. Why am I expected to deal with the consequences of their mistake and inability to comprehand basic English?! It's ridiculous. It's been so bad that I have ignored the account for years, except to pay the tax on it in my resident country.
Finally after years of dealing with this I have called to inquire about closing the account since it's never used and to stop finally paying taxes on it, when I called the number I went through this mess all over again only to be told that the info I have given about myself doesn't match their records and I failed their security check and the only way to pass the security check now is to actually physically go to the home branch and present them with a valid ID. The ticket alone will cost me more than the account is worth, it's so stupid it's actually laughable.
I will go to the branch when I can, and I will make sure to put in a written complaint to the company for their ineptitude, and I will continue to tell everyone never to bank with this company because they don't care about their clients at all. If they cared about security as much as they pretend to, they would make sure their telephone staff could understand and write English so that they don't make mistakes that the customer has to pay for later. Ridiculous. Not once did I have a good experience with their telephone banking service, not one single time did I hang up that phone in any other feeling besides exasperation.

As I am getting older and sometimes forgetful, I learned the risk of caring all my credit cards in my possession all the time, so I only carry a few in my wallet and put away the less frequently used cards. I tended to rotate the use of the less used cards if I remember.
Recently, maybe a couple months ago, I received a letter from Barclay Priceline Visa card that threatened to close my account due to inactivity. I searched and dig out my card in this matter and give them a call. They issued a new card. Upon getting my new card and I called to activate. I intended to use it later to keep my rewards points, but somehow I forget where I put it. Yesterday I received my last statement and also another separate letter from Barclay informing my Visa Card account is closed due to inactivity.
In it it also stated that for redemption of the rewards points earned, I need to call the phone number on the back of the Barclay Visa Card, (which I misplaced) no phone number was given on the letter. (clue 1) I searched on the internet for their customer service number, on their statement page only a payment phone number was given (clue 2). I called the toll-free number that I found online and gone through the automatic hoops, I was told no such account info was found. Finally I got to speak to a real person and going through the same verifying info hoops again, I tried to redeem my rewards point of 1267, which was equivalent to $12.67. The rep on the other end apologized and told me I could not redeem my reward points earned due to their policy of an arbitrary imposed minimum 2500 points policy.
For their closing my account, I restated my reasons for card inactivity and I protested that I should not be punished and be robbed of my rewards earned, if 1000 other people were cancelled of their account, each person carrying a $12.67 reward credit, that could equal to $12,670. God knows how many people that they cancelled and closed their account, each with an existing rewards credits. This could amounts to millions that Barclay defraud from their customers that they unilaterally cancelled and closed accounts. This is a very serious and systematic orchestrated attempt to defraud their customers.
During my search of Barclay’s number, I also came upon several links of Apples rewards Points complaints that were also tied to Barclay Visa cards. I hope some Attorney General or any attorney reading this would help to organize and initiate an investigation of these fraudulent activities committed by Barclay in defrauding their customers, and help start a class action suit.

I have my proof of payment.. luckily it hasn’t been an issue and so far I haven’t had any issues with Mercury! I have had a Barclays card for almost 6 years now. My number was somehow stolen recently and a number of charges were fraudulently made over 3 days until I caught it and reported it. After a month-long "investigation," Barclays contacted me to say that one of the charges (the most expensive, of course) was validated by the merchant, a court in Alabama of all things, for a citation. I live in California, have never been to Alabama, and have certainly never been issued a citation there. If their fraud department couldn't easily identify this as an obviously fraudulent charge - especially since it was made amongst other fraudulent charges - then they are truly, truly pathetic.
Long story short, they say they will replace the charge on my card and it will now be up to me to resolve with the Alabama court myself. Wow. They were also extremely rude and obviously couldn't care less on the phone. I would warn everyone NOT to use Barclay's services because you effectively have absolutely no protection from fraud with them.

We did some research into this company and we would be concerned with people who hold credit cards with them. We would recommend closing your accounts and not dealing with them. This is what we found. Every single number you call is nothing more than an automated message that does not give you the option to talk to a live representative. They do this on purpose because they do not want to talk to you and to avoid all questions to what they are really hiding. So we had to find out who was underwriting them and contact them directly. Well it turns out Mercury Credit Cards is not a bank or any type of financial institution.
When we contacted First Bank in the Dakota we told them about the fishy business practices of Mercury Credit Card and they pretended to be surprised. They told us the "back door" on how to get an agent. Call Mercury's toll free number and press 0 at least 4 or 5 times. Every time you press the number 0 you automatically get bound back to the main recording. Mercury figures if you do 0 get the main menu, 0 again main menu, 10 - 15 - 20 times you'll just hang up. You have to press the 0 button 5 times in a row. Not zero wait for the recording. What a bunch of con artists!
So once we finally got an agent on the phone, we just got lie after lie after lie. We had a payment due on Saturday and paid it on time. Mercury had no problem taking the money out of our account instantly but didn't bother to credit our account. So red flags started popping up. Out of the 14 credit cards that we make a payment and in 24 hours the payment and credit show up without a problem, but not Mercury! So almost a week goes by and we call them up, get a representative on the line. Makes up a story on how it takes 3-5 day to show up, ok whatever. The next it doesn't show up. Call again, mysteriously the same exact agent we spoke to almost 24 hours answers. Once again another made up story, 24 hours go by. Still same thing.
Guess who we got the 3rd time we called, the same agent that lied to us purposely 2 times before. Now the red flags are going up. A so called credit card company that has only 1 employee? And there's no background noise whatsoever. Suspicions flare! So we started to question her, if Mercury was a financial institution, stutter stutter stutter, then makes up an excuse. Then we ask, "Where you're located?" she stutters, then says the South. Then we ask, "What your physical address is because we are going to mail the payments in." IMMEDIATE RED FLAG AND THAT WAS THAT, her direct quote was "I CAN'T GIVE YOU OUR PHYSICAL ADDRESS DUE TO SECURITY REASONS".
I'm sending someone money and they purposely don't want to give you their physical address. WTF. Now then it's confirmed, MERCURY CREDIT CARDS IS A SCAM! For one, the Dept of Consumer Affairs and the Attorney General's Office clearly state that all businesses that do business with the public, must disclose their physical address on their website or give it to the customer. NOT MERCURY. Secondly, they violated the Consumer Protection Act, which states that they must immediately process a payment within a specified time period. NOT MERCURY. 12 days since the payment and nothing posted to the account. On Hold.
So what is Mercury Cards trying to hide, are they running this so called business out of their mother's basement. You refuse to disclose your address, have only 1 agent for hundreds of people, calling 3 times and getting the same person, having that 1 person that works for you purposely lie and make excuses. When we traced the payment we made with our bank, WE FOUND OUT THAT MERCURY CREDIT CARD WAS NOT EVEN ON THE NAME OF THE MERCHANT ID THEY WERE USING. So now what? They purposely hide their location and the above reasons. So we contacted our bank, reversed the payments and blocked their merchant ID from making any future attempts out of our account. All this information is a first hand account of everything that happened to us, and it's the truth. Be very very careful about doing business with these cons.

I assumed that September was no different and that by the middle of the month, they had already received the payment. However, they decided to wait until the money was no longer in the account at the middle of the month before trying to take it out. This caused me a bank fee.
They then tried again, causing another bank fee and also a fee from Barclays. When I received the credit card bill for the next month, it only included October. I made the payment again on time and it was taken out the next day. Now after the October payment, they tell me that I still need to make the September payment. Why wasn't that included in the October bill? I called to talk to support and all they did was call me a liar. They have now removed my access to check my account or make payments online. I've had a Barclaycard Rewards Mastercard for years. My complaints about this company don't relate specifically to problems I've encountered with my credit card account, but relate more to what a joke this card issuer is. They consider themselves a big player, but when you compare their operations to other national card issuers, Barclaycard is in the stone age. Their "account alerts" (i.e. Security) is a total joke. I signed up to be notified every time there's a transaction over $50. One would think in this day and age that would be instant, but not with Barclaycard... Their idea of notifying you means you get alerted 2-3 days after the transaction has occurred. Now think about that... 2-3 days... If I lost my card and didn't catch the fact I had, I wouldn't know someone was using it for 2-3 days after the fact. What a pathetic shameful joke of a service to offer their customers... Obviously they hire only the best technology people!
As to customer service that's a joke as well. On the phone they are hard to understand and obviously not US based. In writing they are slow to respond. When I wanted to change from a Mastercard card to a VISA card they said no, but they've increased my credit line substantially over the years. They are a good credit reference but nothing more. They should stop pretending to be a major player amongst major players, because they aren't.

Bad idea Barclays for switching one of my cards over to Mercury. Mercury is horrible. They don’t care about their customers. I spent two hours on the phone today getting transferred around being left on hold for such a long time that a recording came on that said my allotted time on hold was up so I need to hang up and please try again and then Mercury hung up on me. They kept transferring me to different people. I wound up with six different people and no one would help me. Bottom line is I made my payment on time with Mercury the first payment I had since it switched from Barclays. I received a confirmation of my payment. A few days later I get a notification from my credit report stating that there was a derogatory mark from Mercury which stated that I did not make my payment on time which I did and have a confirmation number.
Finally getting someone they said it looked like I may have put my bank information in wrong which I did however I told them it was their responsibility to inform me and notify me since I have notifications on my credit card account to inform me something went wrong especially since this was the first payment I made since Barclays switched to Mercury. They said they were so inundated with phone calls because of the changeover that they didn’t have a chance to contact me. And then three other different agents tell me something different than three other agents already told me that they apologize for not getting in touch with me about this matter before my payment became late. So they waited for it to be late and then reported me to the credit bureau without even giving me a chance.
It was my fault that I put in one wrong bank number. I missed it by one number but it was Mercury’s responsibility to inform me. They showed I did make my payment and gave me a confirmation so how would I know something was wrong? All they did give me a derogatory mark on my credit which I don’t have and I’ve never made any payments late ever. Their customer service is horrible everything about this credit card is horrible!! It all starts with a merchant I ordered from who did not send ALL of the order. So naturally I filed a dispute when the merchant ignored my requests for the rest. Barclays basically just added a note to my account and it went on my credit report (just the dispute note, which can harm you if you’re trying to buy a house)! They also said I still have to pay the disputed amount and if they rule in my favor then I will get credit (Luckily the merchant made good so I paid it). LOL. Go ** yourself! Secondly, to get a limit increase, which I’ve had this card for a couple years now with a 1500 limit, they put a mark on my credit again by checking. None of my other cards do that and I have a lot. They still turned me down for an increase.
Thirdly, which doesn’t have anything to do with me, but still, My friend’s husband had an account opened in his name by his ex wife unknowingly and she maxed it out. Barclays is still making him pay for it! He obviously won the case against her in court and she has to pay it but c’mon, do you think she will? He’s still responsible and still has to pay it off. 12 members of my family recently sailed on the Carnival Valor (2-6 August 2018). On 2 August, there was a table set up for people to complete a Carnival credit card application and get lanyards and bags for free. I (and many others in my party of 12) began to complete the application and I told the representative that we didn't want the card and asked if we could get a lanyard. I offered to give her $5 for a bag and a lanyard. She said, in order to get a free gift, you had to do the application but she said, "If you do not want it to be processed, then you do not use the correct information and it cannot process." I said, "You mean use random numbers for the SSN and DOB?" And she said "Yes, just numbers and then sign".
She said, "It cannot process, but you get lanyard and bag." She said when they are processed and the name doesn't match the numbers like the SSN and DOB, then the application will not process and will be destroyed. I asked her if she was sure and again, she said yes. Several of the 12 people in my party and others standing around did as she suggested and she gave us the lanyards, Carnival bags, water bottles and we left. There were several other people standing around and she continued to suggest the same thing while my group was completing the application. It was never my intent to do anything fraudulent or to cause harm to anyone else. When she told me the application would not process but we could get the bag and lanyard, it seemed harmless and it made sense that it would not process if the name doesn't match the numbers.
On 7 August, My husband (Willie **) and I BOTH received a Carnival Credit Card issued by Barclays in the mail. On 10 August, I called the tollfree number on the card and inquired on how I could have been approved for a the Carnival credit card. I explained what happened and the rep asked for the last four of my SSN and my DOB. To my surprise, the correct SSN, DOB and address are on file for the card that was sent to me but the incorrect SSN was on file for my husband. Additionally, there are excessive charges on the card that I did not make.
In fact, I didn't make ANY of the charges. The card has not been activated. Additionally, the charges are also on the credit card that I had on file for my sale and sign. I don't know how my personal information was obtained for this card, but however it was obtained, it was fraudulently done. I have cancelled the card and reported it as FRAUD. I have contacted the rest of the people in my party and told them to contact the Barclays Card Fraud and Security department. My husband and I have both requested a copy of the applications used to process these cards. I can assure you that I put random numbers and did not put my correct Social Security Number on that application. I am also reporting this as fraud with the credit bureau(s).
Update: I have been in touch with Carnival representatives who have been in touch with Barclays. They told me: #1. The rep that was on the ship, denied telling people to put incorrect information. #2. Although my husband's SSN was incorrect by each number being off by two numbers, SOMEONE at Barclays still approved and issued him a credit card. How did they know his credit score rated him getting a CREDIT card? He too has a credit card through Barclays. Did someone use the info that is on file for the card that he already has with Barclays? Barclays executive Devin stated that sometimes they use public records to complete the applications. That certainly doesn't seem right.
#3. I did not put the correct information (SSN, DOB or address) on that application on the Carnival Cruise. I do however have another card issued by Barclays. Did someone look my information up based on a portion of the correct information that was on the application and match it to what's already on file? #4. Barclays has stated that the applications were destroyed even though they told me that they would send me a copy in 7 to 10 days. When I called back, they told me they did not have copies because they destroy them after they put the information in the system. So in other words, anyone with anyone else personal information can fraudulently apply for a Barclays credit card in someone else's name and Barclays will not only approve it, but will also put charges on it before it is activated. This seems like a recipe for an identity fraud case.
#5. I received a letter from Barclays stating that a thorough investigation had concluded that all charges were valid and the investigation is closed. SOMEONE at Barclays did something fraudulent for my husband and I to obtain credit cards. My children also completed applications but did not get credit cards. Why? Because their credit is not established...but my husband and I put incorrect information and had cards mailed to us and coincidentally, we have other cards with Barclays.
#6. Why would the applications be destroyed? Anyone could have filled out this application using someone else's name and information. There were no forms of IDs requested or anything. I don't know how to prove that I did not write my correct information, but I did not. #7. Carnival was told that everyone that was approved or disapproved got a letter on the cruise. Neither I or my husband received anything. I have talked to my other family members and none of them received any type of notification while on the cruise. Had we received anything while we were on the cruise, we would have addressed it while on the cruise. DO NOT SAIL ON CARNIVAL AND DO NOT USE BARCLAYS CREDIT CARDS.

The manager advised that "technically they can't put me on a plan". Well "technically" I should have been given the correct information and he, JOSEPH the manager should have assisted as I KNOW he could in putting me on a payment plan. STAY AWAY from this company, they have high interests and nothing useful comes out of their stupid rewards points. It only helps IF you go on a cruise and it doesn't even cover much. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE company!!!
