I have spent hours trying to get new printer/scanner to work. Or to get chat support.Or any help. Chat asks a few questions then goes silent. May just give away MFC-J1010DW to someone with more technical savy or patience than I gained after 30 years in software field. Would not buy another Brother product.

I purchased a new Brother MFCL2759DW Multi-Function Printer from Amazon. It’s under two years old now and I’ve had the worst customer service experience of my life. I’ve been calling customer support for weeks now waiting for up to four or more hours each time and no one ever answers. Every time I call, the recording advises “we are experiencing higher than usual call volume. You should expect a longer than usual wait.” I hear this every time I call and I have yet to get anyone on the phone. The printer is obviously not built to last and the customer service is horrendous. Don’t waste your money on Brother- You’ll be sorry.

I purchased a Brother Compact Monochrome Laser Printer, HLL2395DW, Flatbed Copy & Scan, on January 2023 for $219.99. I was initially very happy, but in the last 18 months I have had repeated problems, I believe they can fix it, but it is impossible to reach them. Approximately November 2024, my printer stopped working. I called repair. Was told the wait was more than 4 hours, I had used online service, but no answer. Finally got through and it was fixed. Two weeks later, same thing, but no longer offered the option to leave my phone number and they would call back, again more than 3 hours. Approximately a week later it stopped yet again, another 3 plus hour wait, since this was the third time, I asked for an option to get through faster and not have to start all over, they gave me a case number, because I was worried the same thing would happen. It did. They said it would be 2 hours, I waited long past 2 hours, probably past their closing time.

After an hour wait online, finally got through. Unable to fix. Said would call me Monday 12-30-24, I said available at 1, no call by 3, I had to leave. 2-22-26, I'm again having problems, prints fine for a few pages, then the ink is pale, and unreadable. Calls are a 4-5 hour wait, then call comes thru as a scam call, and they hang up before I can pick up. Chat feature not always available, once I got thru but the link they gave me did not solve the issue. They no longer allow me to leave a call back. They no longer offer a case number. I need my printer, when I purchased they said they had service available and did for the first few years, but now there is no way to get thru. I want an effective way to reach them, and for them to stay in contact until it is resolved.

I want to express my frustration with the ongoing issues I’ve encountered with my Brother printer. It does not print, has an issue. Initially, I reached out via chat and followed all the troubleshooting steps provided. After no resolution, I was told to call customer service. I called customer support and waited on hold for nearly two hours, so I chose to call me back. Unfortunately, they called when I was not at home. The support team informed me that they couldn’t proceed without me being present with the printer.

I then returned to chat support, and the same troubleshooting instructions, only to be asked again to call. I can not wait this long on hold. Despite trying multiple cables and confirming that the printer is recognized by the driver, the printer still fails to print a test page. I am convinced that the problem is hardware-related, yet I have been repeatedly told otherwise. This cycle of repeating the same steps and being redirected has been both time-consuming and frustrating. Now I am on the line with a 4-hour estimated waiting time!

We have a Brother MFC-L2820DW printer. It is relatively new and after 651 pages of print on the TN 830 (which is supposed to give up to 1200 pages of print) toner cartridge the message to replace toner cartridge. We called customer service to find out how to use all of the ink in the toner cartridge and were told, "You can't, that would harm the printer," that we needed to replace the cartridge. After playing around with the settings I hit all settings, general setup, ecology and turned on eco mode and toner save which has allowed us to keep printing. Customer service either intentionally lied or else did not bother to do the research and give us the correct answer. Not happy with the service.

I bought 2 Brother printers. First one started to disconnect to wireless in less than one year. I did not even ask for a repair and I bought the second one. That one started to jam the papers. Tried everything. Spent 1.5 hour over the phone with customer rep, she said she will escalate my case. Then I received a message regarding updating my email thru their website where the website does not allow you to update. Spent another hour to call center after which she said shill will report it to her seniors/managers for approval of email change!!! I waited a day and chat via website. after 1 hour i am told that my case is escalated. That's it.

Worst customer service structured to dissatisfy customers and make them crazy. Will switch to any other brand. It can not be worse than this.

Truly disheartened with my MFC-L3770CDW, $550.00 laser color printer. Everything about the machine was extremely good until I had to replace the tomer. $400.00 for the color cartridges. Which didn't seem to print as many as they claimed. Then, on my 2nd set of cartridges, the printer never powered back up. Leaving me to trash a 13-month-old printer. Brother stated they would give me $75.00 off if I bought another. Only to find it was made in Vietnam. I will never buy another.

I have purchased a variety of printers, but Brother is by far the worst. My problems started when I signed up for the Brother Refresh cartridge subscription. There was a problem with the payment, and I was locked out of the printer. This past month, I decided to renew my subscription and set up my printer. The printer gave me a code that the printer nozzles were clogged. After following the directions to unclog the nozzles, I was unsuccessful. I called Brother for technical support, and after many attempts, the technician was unsuccessful.

My warranty expired in March 2025. I explained this to the customer service rep. He seemed to sympathize with my situation. I received an email stating I was approved for an exchange. A week went by with no communication. I then received an email stating that the printer was offline. I called to explain and was told the printer would be delivered, but Brother expected me to pay for the subscription even though the printer was not working. After being on hold, the representative came back and said I could pay $0.99. For me, it was the principle, and I decided I would never purchase another Brother product. They misrepresent their products, the customer service is poor, and they do not honor their word. I am stuck with an MFC J4535DW that I purchased for $300 two years ago.

Steve was superb. He analyzed my problem possibilities, worked through them in order of probability, found the guilty party, then started over to fix each glitch so there were none left. The printer had stopped working, and in my efforts to fix it I clotted up much of the machine. Steve worked backward through my errors, and now the computer and the printer work perfectly. His temperament throughout was level, focused, humorous, and unfazed. He kept my temperament in order by keeping his in order. I've used a lot of people in that chair. None as good as Steve.

Purchased my printer at Walmart. Entered the ink refresher program with the cartridge that CAME IN THE BOX WITH THE PRINTER. My printing really didn't fit any of their plans—nothing some months, 700 pages a month, maybe once every 7 months. I’m a writer and beta readers sometimes prefer a paper copy. I have too many things going on to go to my dashboard every month and make sure I’m within the plan—something I’m sure they count on. I paid enough to purchase one or two cartridges and my ink was still not used up. Canceled refresher and had to throw the remainder of the ink away because of some little activated code in the cartridge they shut off when I canceled my plan. I doubt refresher is worth it, even if you think you fit one of their plans. Sorry, I didn’t save my receipt to ‘verify’ my purchase. There’d be no reason for me to be here if I hadn't had this experience.

Don't bother with their products. I made the mistake of buying a Brother printer only to find out that you can't use third-party toner cartridges. You have to buy the overpriced cartridges sold by Brother. And don't buy that line that their printers only work the best with their propriety cartridge. That's the BS they've made up to justify what they're doing. Will definitely be more careful in the future and will definitely stay away from Brother products.

I am trying to connect a Brother MFC-7860DW to a Dell Optiplex running Win 11. Brother tech support guided me to download and install the installation package from their drivers site. Win 11 device security identified a driver BrUsbSib.sys that was not allowed to be installed with Core Isolation on. Disabling Core Isolation caused a serious problem with the operating system. Brother tech support did not know what to do, and told me to talk to Microsoft. But this is Brother's responsibility, since they provide the installation drivers for Win 11. Basically, after hours on the phone with both Brother tech support and customer support, I am stuck, and they hang up on me. This is a very poor support system by Brother.

In the past the connectivity has been an issue where it often drops off the WIFI connection and had to be reset. Then came the constant updates that were only days apart but the best update from this lousy company was sneaking in a block so you cannot use aftermarket toners or cartridges. This seems like a lawsuit that should happen under the right to repair legislation in many states. I will be sending a complaint to the attorney general to investigate our state laws against this or a pro-bono class action attorney. Seterus mortgage learned the hard way about illegal banking, I hope Brother's has the same opportunity to learn from their operations. After spending hours and asking multiple times to be transferred to level 2 support and their refusal to do that, I finally researched how to fix the issue myself and did so in about 5 seconds. They refuse to help you if you don't use genuine Brother ink cartridges which is a joke and then even when you do they tell you the cartridge is no longer under warranty and they will not help you. I was able to take the same cart and put it in a different but similar printer and it would read the cart as 100%. I can only guess they put some software update to stop customers from manually resetting the toner counter, and they didn't want to tell me the new process.

I reported the Brother logo is embedded in the side of the cart and the label on the cart shows Brother and the Brother icon is on the back of the entire roll of tape itself, but she said it could be from another Brother company?! Since we can't prove any of these ridiculous claims we can't get warranty repair or support for this printer which is obviously randomly showing an error that the wrong type tape is installed even though it works with that cart type sometimes.
