This is the worst customer service ever... Do not waste your time with this company. I have added time for the last 3 months and never get my time rolled over. I called on this last card purchase and was told that I had no time, but it showed I had 208 min., and could not make or receive a call as I did not have any time left, but when rep. pulled my account up it went to -0- while I was looking at it!!! When I ask about using my wifi on calls, I was told Wifi connections only work for internet usage and all calls will use up your data... REALLY. This is a service that saves you money, pay for just what you need, I cannot afford enough time with this company. Will be looking for better service. 17 days and maybe 10 calls at the most and no time, maybe all the calls from spam callers, that I don't answer, but block and delete is what is doing it???

I called TracFone to purchase additional minutes for my phone. The representative was a smart mouthed, lippy, unprofessional jerk who gave me a really hard time. Very juvenile and immature way to conduct business. TracFone needs to hire mature individuals that know how to treat people with respect. Shameful and disgusting company.

TracFone scammed me into buying a “bring your own phone SIM card Kit” AFTER they CONFIRMED my device was compatible. As they instructed, I purchased the NON-refundable SIM kit, only to have the next customer service rep tell me my device was in fact NOT compatible. They cheerfully explained how I could buy their device since I had the kit. The 3rd of 7 customer service reps was Mark. He completely verified with the IMEI # my device was good. I encouraged them to check the recorded call but they just kept bouncing me “up” to other supervisors. So to Maria, Rocky, Mark, Oliver, FloreBell and lastly Kane who informed me it would cost ME more to ship the kit back than the refund I’d get so it wouldn’t be worth it, was at the top of the TracFone service rep SCAM chain.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR time or money $ for such a horrible service system. Not worth the $10.00 a month I would have saved. I was just trying to get a phone for a disabled relative that can only make and answer calls (uses less that 150 minutes of service monthly) mostly for well visit calls. Great company!!! Don’t believe a word they say no matter how many of them tell you the same thing and you follow every direction they give you. Total BS!

TracFone deducts a minute for every call made to my phone when I decline the call and no connection is made. I wish to pay for the service of using a phone, not paying for unauthorized scammers or telemarketers that call my phone on a daily basis. For all I know it could be an autodialer associated with TracFone made to drain my well-paid for minutes. This is shady, bad business.

It took over 3 hours to work through TracFone's website and phone support to purchase a telephone. Of course they initially stated that it was my credit card info that was causing the problem. However, I had my CC company online, and they verified my account in good standing. After repeated attempts, finally the card went through. I asked to have the shipping speed upgraded as compensation for wasting hours of my time...no deal. After speaking with the supervisor, he blamed the delay on "system upgrades"...and no deal. These guys really suck. If you have an alternative, go somewhere else!

My wife and I both have TracFones. Yesterday 6/27/2018 both phones showed invalid sim card. We could not make a phone call or text. I called support and they said they would send 2 new sim cards. Our carrier for both phones is Verizon. What are the chances of 2 sim cards going bad in 2 phones at the same time? Tracfone is sending sim cards . Will take 5 days so we are without phones for 5 days. I think the problem is with Verizon network. That seems more logical than 2 sim cards going bad at the same time! If Tracfone cannot fix the problem I will have to go to another vendor! Their problem solving is not good!

Based on my experience with TracFone, I am sure that they are engaging in fraudulent tactics which involve systematically deleting minutes from their customer's accounts. Their customer service is horrendous. I recently spent nearly three hour on the phone with their "customer service representatives" trying to get them to fix a problem which they caused, through no fault of mine. Their system deactivated my account and deleted over 2000 minutes from it. I had to spend my valuable time, nearly three hours, explaining what their system screwed up my account. All of their customer service personnel appear to be based in Asia, and don't seem to be too proficient at their jobs.
I had to ask to speak to a supervisor, who basically told me the same erroneous information of her subordinate. After all that time wasted in defending my case, the supervisor finally realized that I was right all along. After that experience, I realized that Tracfone is knowingly engaged in fraudulently deleting huge chunks of minutes from customers accounts, for no reason, and covering their tracks in the process. I experienced this on several occasions, but, this last time, it was so obvious, I am absolutely positive that they are crooks. I had to fight them to get back over 1600 minutes which they had purposely deleted from my account, after deactivating the phone through their crappy computer system, and incompetent and apathetic tech staff.

We have been TracFone patrons for 15 plus years. Today, both mine and my wife's phone got no service. When going to Customer Service chat room, we were told by 2 different agents the reason we could not get phone to work was because we had left the area code phone was registered. How stupid is this? Each agent told us to troubleshoot phone we had to be back in the area code we purchased from. I can understand my phone as we are 250 plus miles from where we originally bought it, however, we are in the same area code for wife's phone. Again, they could not fix without factory resets and losing all data, phone numbers etc. LAST TRACFONE EVER... BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. What a joke, no help unless you are in original area code. First agent said you are not supposed to travel outside area code... WHAT A JOKE.

I accidentally ordered two cell phones and plans from TracFone. I tried to cancel one by calling customer service within 3 minutes of the mistake. I was advised to simply "refuse" one of the boxes, that USPS would notify them and that a refund would take 2-7 days for a refund. On June 8, 2018 I refused one of the boxes (which IS noted on the tracking information on the USPS system) and am still waiting for my refund. I call DAILY asking when I can expect my money to be credited back my money and each and everyday I am given a different answer, anywhere from 2 to 30 days.
TracFone charged my account within less than 1 minutes, but THEY need 30 days to return my money? It takes only 1 key stroke, less than a minute to resolve this issue, and for TracFone it takes 43,200 minutes to clear this matter up. I am not unhappy with the phone and services I purchased, I am EXTREMELY unhappy by their lack of respect for their customers, their lack of honesty, and their poor customer services. I would NEVER recommend that you purchase a TracFone online. If it is your only option for cell phone service, BUYER BEWARE.

Three months later they charged me $20.99 again. I called the credit card company again, and at that time was told Discover had just eaten the $3. I know it is just $3, but it is the principle of the thing. I took print screens of the offer, the window that showed me enrolled before I cancelled and then I cancelled the auto-refill online and then called TracFone for a confirmation of my cancellation. I was told I was no longer enrolled, and I said yes, I just cancelled it. I was told there was no record of me ever being on TracFone. When I tried to bring up the printscreens, they had never completed. I thought I could recover the e-mail informing me of the upcoming autorefill charge, but they had been deleted because AOL only keeps the deleted mails for a certain period. I do not recommend this at all. I used the TracFone website to check and see if my Verizon HTC was compatible for me to transfer service from my existing TracFone. The website said it was. I ordered the BYOP kit from them which I did receive super quick. In a previous experience with TracFone customer service, I already knew that calling them to do the phone transfer was a bad idea. The customer service reps will transfer you from one person to another to "better assist you." You have to explain the same thing to a half a dozen different reps. They speak way too quickly for you to understand them, too. I chose to do the activation online which seemed simple enough. Three days later the phone was not activated. I spent almost two hours on the phone with customer service at this point.
I was told everything from the phone was not compatible to Verizon didn't service my area, which is not true, to I owed Verizon money and therefore Verizon wouldn't let them activate it. I've never had a Verizon account until a few days ago. They had me walking around the yard trying to get a signal on a phone that was not activated. Then to beat all, they deactivated the phone I was using saying they had transferred the minutes and the service days to the Verizon phone that they supposedly could not activate. Told me I had to call Verizon and work out my problem with the Verizon phone (I still haven't figured out exactly what Verizon was supposed to do) or wait for a new SIM card to come in the mail to reactivate my old phone. I blew up. I cancelled the service. About three hours later they activated the Verizon phone after they had claimed they couldn't activate it to begin with.
To me this whole ordeal was just plain ridiculous. No way was I going to keep the service after all that. Having to deal with their customer service is too much of a hassle. I removed the TracFone sim and threw it away. Called Verizon (as they suggested) and now have Verizon prepaid service with no problems. Then a few days ago, TracFone sent me an email and asked me to review my BYOP SIM card purchase with them, and then refused to post my review today saying it didn't meet their guidelines. They just didn't want to post it because it was negative. Shame on them. TracFone needs to invest in some employees who are better able to assist their customers and have better communication skills. Plus if they're not mature enough to handle the negative reviews, then honestly they shouldn't ask for someone to give them their opinion, especially after they provided them with such a bad experience in the first place.

Even the most minor problem takes an hour or more to resolve. The customer service reps barely speak English, have no idea what they are doing, and insist on keeping their customers on the phone while they muddle through the unending process of "writing a ticket." I have 2 TracFones, and I just added time to one of my phones, but it was credited to my other phone. After wasting an hour (which is about 25% of the time I just bought), I decided it was cheaper to just buy more minutes instead of trying to get these incompetent fools to correct their mistake. I purchased a new TracFone and activated it during Jan 2018. The phone came with 4,500 minutes and 4,500 texts. In addition to those purchased items, my plan allowed me to carry forward any unused minutes and texts from my older phone. I carried forward in excess of 500 minutes and 1200 texts. When my new phone was activated in Jan 2018, I had the following balances over 5,000 minutes and over 5,500 texts. Everything was fine until two weeks ago when the new phone stopped working.
I called customer service, which was in the Philippines. I could barely understand the guy and it took almost an hour what it would have taken an American 15 minutes to understand and do. He agreed the phone was defective and would be replaced under the warranty. He told me it would take four days to receive the box from Fed/EX to send back the defective phone. It has been almost two weeks and I haven't received the box. During my conversation, I explained I still had my old phone that use to be on my TracFone account. And I asked if I could re-activate and use it until the new replacement phone arrived. He said it would be no problem. Prior to activating the old phone, he looked at my account and we agreed I had approximately 4,300 minutes, 5,400 texts, and 2.6 GB of data. I gave him the activation info he requested and he activated the phone.
I tried to make a call using the activated phone and I was told I needed to add minutes to my account in order to make calls. I told the TracFone representative this and he checked his files. Ten minutes later, he told me I didn't have but 300 minutes. I told him that's absurd. I reminded him not more than ten minutes ago he confirmed I had in excess of 4,300 minutes. In a dumbfounded manner, he tried to tell me those were the only minutes loss assurance would put on the account. I told him that was totally unsatisfactory and that the TracFone database had showed (only minutes earlier) I had approximately 4,300 minutes, 5,400 texts, and 2.6 GB of data. He said he couldn't explain it but I was only to be given 300 minutes no texts and no data.
After additional calls to TracFone customer service in the Philippines and Honduras, someone told me to call a Miami, where TracFone's corporate headquarters is located. Over several days, I pleaded with several people. They eventually restored to my account: 3,600 minutes, 5,000 text, and 2.6 GB of data. They thought I would jump up and click my heels. But I was just as pissed as before. By giving me back 90% of what they stole from me, they wanted me to say "thank you." Instead, I was even more enraged. They continued to tell me some department said I was only entitled to what they gave me and they could find no record of me having the balances I said were on my account prior to activating the phone. I told them that was a lie; that for purposes of regulatory compliance they must track in their records customer balances or deposits.
Within their database are my accurate account balances and they refused to access this info to correctly restore my account balance. I told them this is nothing but theft and I won't stand for it. In good faith I purchased minutes from TracFone. In bad faith, they are attempting to steal from me by restoring part of what I am entitled. I reminded them that several entities with oversight over this matter: Attorney General of Florida, Miami-Dade Consumer Affairs, Better Business Bureau, Florida Dept. of Professional Regulation, FTC, FCC, etc.
What I will do is collect as many complaints against this company related to stealing minutes from customers. And I'm going to send my data to the agencies noted above as well as find an attorney who believes a class action suit can be brought against TracFone. I believe TracFone routinely does this to customers because 9 of 10 will just angrily walk away. Remember, they initially restored only 300 minutes to my account. If I had not raised hell about it, I would have been stuck with only that.

In addition to having only two bars of signal despite living in a big city (Mpls/St.Paul) area, I've already got a laundry list of complaints in the two days I've owned this TracFone. All I wanted was a cheap phone for work purposes, but what I've gotten is a headache which can't be resolved by calling their robotic, nearly automated sounding customer service staff. I followed the phone prompts, entered my credit card info, and was told by their recording that I had purchased 200 minutes of talk time. I tested this TracFone out and even made a few calls. It worked just fine. Then suddenly it I could no longer make calls.
I called customer service using a different phone, waited on hold, and eventually got an agent who told me that my phone wasn't working because I still needed to buy minutes, to which I replied, "I already bought minutes with my credit card. A recording had told me that I had purchased 200 minutes, used 5 of that, and that I was now down to 155 minutes. So yes, I HAVE already paid. In fact, the phone was just working a few minutes ago." She couldn't understand what I was saying. She continued to repeat more and more emphatically, "Sir, you NEED to pay to activate your phone." After making two more attempts to explain in the simplest way possible that I had already paid, I thanked her and decided to try calling again in hopes that I might get someone else who'd understand. To no avail. Different agent, same misunderstanding.
I then attempted to find some other phone number where perhaps a native English speaking person who's paid more than $2 a day could help me, but was told there is no other customer service number for the TracFone Company. After learning that I finally just gave up, and have now decided to try to return the phone.I'm just hoping I can get a full refund, and that this unprofessional company won't get any of my hard earned money. Hopefully the 30 minutes it took me to write this review will help someone else make a more well-informed purchase. Thanks for letting me share this.

They are less expensive, but the aggravation is not worth it."
This was their response. "Our staff has read your review and values your contribution even though it did not meet all our website guidelines. Thanks for sharing, and we hope to publish next time!" You would think their response would be, "We are sorry for this inconvenience and we will have a technician contact and remedy the situation immediately."

I have had a TracFone for a while. No complaint with the phone but their customer service is a joke. I have tried for a full day to get help in getting into my account. They kept sending me temporary passwords that didn’t work. After 7 calls to customer service in India, I just gave up. No more! I will switch to another service. How can a communications company fail to help a client access their account? If I could give them no stars, I would. Rip off! Awful!

On April 17, 2018 I purchased a TracFone, $29.88, Smart phone plan 61 days 500 minutes etc $25.00 2 year replacement plan $5.00. I worked with the phone for 2 weeks, trying to get it to perform to no avail including other TracFone owners. When I returned the phone to Walmart The associate gave me a number to call TracFone. I spoke with their "Tech people" in India I presume for 2 hours and the phone still would not work. After another two weeks I returned the phone to Walmart and was told I could not get a refund because I had it more than 2 weeks. Now I have a phone that doesn't work, 25 dollars worth of minutes that I can't retrieve and a plan that covers nothing!

I have been dealing with this problem since February. I bought a 25.00 sim card service from TracFone on their website, they sent it out and it would not fit, even with the adapters. I called and explained my problem then sent out another sim card which also did not fit. Off and on I have contacted them and finally May 21 I called and explained what was going on and they said apparently I had a Samsung phone that the sim card id not work on. I said, "Finally you are seeing the problem, what are you going to do about it," they replied, "Nothing we can do." So I guess I won't be using them anymore.

I have been with TracFone for years. No problems until the other day. I attempt to order a phone thru their website. I ended up with 2 phones in the shopping cart. It would not let me remove either. Kept getting an error message. I called customer service to report the problem. Talked to at least 8 people who all tried to sell me a phone, but could not fix the website problem. I decided to not use my account & order a phone. Next thing I notice is someone ordered me a 2nd phone and used my credit card they had on file. I called to cancel, but was told they couldn't even though the phone had not shipped.
The website is still showing two phones in the shopping cart that cannot be removed. Finally told me they are working on it. I deleted my credit card so they can't use it again. Now when 2 phones show up, I was told not to accept one and I should get my money back 6 days up to 30 days. Not happy hearing, "Oh so sorry." from these people and repeating my problem over and over. I would recommend deleting any credit card information they have stored on your account. Not happy they used my credit without permission.

I have had a TracFone account for more than two years and I liked the idea of minutes rolling over when I renewed my phone. Their commercial said unused minute would roll over. When my phone expired they notified me to renew but said nothing about losing my rollover minutes. Because the phone went inactive, I lost my minutes (990) even though my TracFone account was still active but the phone expired. No warning that this would happen I depended on the phone for emergencies. I feel cheated and disappointed. I saw no written indication about the risk of losing the rollover. I asked for a refund and to close my account. The minutes should be tied to the account not the phone. I do not recommend TracFone. They failed to keep their customers informed and that cost me.

Honestly, I cannot believe the incompetence that I have had to deal with since ordering this TracFone. It was ordered last November. Due to a very busy schedule and the fact that this phone was not required, I did not open it or try to operate it until I think late February or early March. I spent HOURS on the phone with Tracfone personnel prior to leaving Florida and returning to Canada. I have explained, and re-explained the situation. Whether I speak to a front line person, a manager or a Supervisor, no one seems to get what I am telling them. After I spent several hours on the phone with Tracfone over a period of time, friends who were visiting offered to deal with Tracfone to get it sent up. Each time we were told it was ready to go, we encountered the message: “I am sorry this call cannot be completed. You must contact your Verizon provider and a long distance charge will apply.”
I cannot count the number of people we let listen to that message as we would use a landline while trying to set up the Tracfone. After 90 minutes on the phone with Tracfone personnel, my friend said he had NEVER encountered such ridiculousness when trying to set up a phone. A couple of days later, I tried again…. After an hour, I had an appointment. Had to leave, which meant I had to call back and go through the entire saga yet again. During my final call to Tracfone before leaving Florida, I explained that I would call back once I was in Canada, that I had no more time to deal with this problem while in Florida.
Now I have received a shipping confirmation, addressed to my friend in Florida, but sent to my e-mail. The person I spoke with at Tracfone seemed to be listening, obviously was not. What we CLEARLY DISCUSSED was that she would send the shipping label to me in Canada as I returned to Canada shortly after my last nightmarish call to Tracfone. I brought the Tracfone that was purchased for use in the US only back to Canada with me in order to try to resolve my problems. Despite me saying the following so very many times, NO ONE SEEMS TO UNDERSTAND THAT I AM NOT TRYING TO USE THE PHONE IN CANADA, IT IS FOR USE IN THE US ONLY!!!
When I again called Tracfone... now from Canada... I went over and over the story yet again with each person to whom I was transferred. During the last communication, this is what was determined and even that seems to have been totally messed up… 1. Once the shipping label was sent to me in Canada, I would return the Tracfone. 2. Tracfone would then send a replacement Tracfone to my friend in Florida to hold for me until I returned to Florida in November. Well, Tracfone sent the shipping label to my friend in Florida.
TRUTHFULLY, I WOULD LIKE A FULL REFUND FOR A PHONE THAT HAS NEVER BEEN USED, COULD NEVER BE SET UP, and I would like a refund for the $25 calling card I purchased. The number of hours that has been spent on this “crusade to set up a phone” is absurd. I am exhausted and would like to spare others the hideous task of trying to deal with personnel who are either not listening or could care less. I have never spent this much time on any item I have purchased.

I've had TracFone for a while and it has caused me nothing but GRIEF. As soon as I find another phone, I will be cancelling and hope so many people do that they go out of business. First, it is a hassle to call 411 because most of the time, it doesn't recognize anything you say, then you have all these advertisements (using up your minutes). Secondly, today I bought some airtime online. First time. I usually just go buy a card at a store. So online it says $9.99 for 30 days and right across it says 60 minutes. I have the double the minutes card, so I would be getting 120 minutes. It turns out, when I get ready to check out and when you go to See Benefits link, it says 30 service days and 60 minutes. So when I paid for it and it loaded, it gave me 60 minutes.
So I call cust service and she says $9.99 is for 30 MINUTES, and it said 60 on my checkup because I had put in my phone number. So couldn't have made it clear on their website? Nowhere does it says it is 30 minutes when you are searching for Pay As You Go. So meanwhile, I'm talking to her and asked her if I could get my minutes back which I used talking to her which was already 8 minutes. She said NO, then I asked to speak to a Supervisor. I waited a long time, then hung up. She called me back, and transferred me to supervisor, and I waited AGAIN.
Meanwhile my minutes are ticking away. The supervisor flat out and said NO again, and that the minutes aren't free. I told him I spent all these talking to you about their problem. So as soon as I get another phone, I will be deactivating. I got his name, Janell (sounded like a woman), and his ID #**, and he told me I can transfer my minutes (that's why I got his name and info). DO NOT GO WITH TRACFONE. There are many other prepaid that are MUCH BETTER. The service is the crappiest I've ever encountered and it only gets worse. Save yourself some hassle.

Tracfone has possibly the worst customer service of any company I have experienced in my 50 years of life. The service frequently has problems and when you contact customer service and let them know for example; (my experience today) where they charged my credit card for added service dates and minutes 20 days ago, but the service never was added to my account. After calling them and going through numerous things, minutes were added to my phone (90 minutes) but only 14 days... This is a 30 day service extension payment. At this point they want to get off the phone because they feel that everything is now correct... I explain, "Wait... You only gave me 14 days..." Then they want to argue. This goes on for 15 minutes where the customer service rep wants to argue that I was given 30 days 16 days prior... Well the phone wouldn't work for this time... She argues that it did... It did not.
Her records should easily show that I was only credited today but charged weeks earlier and have had a phone that would not work for weeks... Apparently this doesn't matter. She keeps repeating the same stuff, never acknowledging the problem of getting less than I had paid for. I ask for a supervisor eventually... She transfers me, not to a supervisor but to another rep... We start over... He also comes to say that it is my fault for not contacting customer service earlier, apparently Tracfone has no obligation to deliver what you pay for 20 days earlier. He admits there is nothing he can do. I simply want to add 16 days to my plan, nothing more than I paid for. He says he will transfer me to the refund department, but first he has to check with his supervisor... I said, "Please let me speak to your supervisor if possible..." He says, "Please hold..." Lo and behold I speak to the supervisor. (Which is nearly a miracle apparently).
She wants to give me the same argument basically, they all seem to have the same accent, my guess is from a country where people are always asking for more than what they are due, so all they tell you is no. I explain to her, "Look, I am not asking for anything more than what I paid for... I paid for 30 days, you gave me 14 days, I have been a customer for years, I can move my service anywhere else... Does Tracfone take any responsibility for when their service does not work?" Finally she agrees that I am owed 16 more days and she goes through a long process to make that happen.
At this point I am no longer thankful, I am frustrated that I had to spend an hour on the phone and get so angry that I raised my voice several times because their customer service is being completely unreasonable. I cannot stress this enough... If you do not want hassles and bad service, run from Tracfone. They are cheap, but their service is horrible.
My account will end soon, I just have over 2000 prepaid minutes on the service right now and it has kept me with them through numerous customer service problems just like this. Yes that is right... This same thing or something similar has happened before. Tracfone never ever owns their end of the bargain... You pay, you get no service... It is not Tracfone's fault... That is their attitude again and again. Other companies would apologize, see their mistake and give you the service and might even compensate you for wasting your time with a credit or a refund... Not Tracfone... They always take the track that it is not their fault and they cannot help you.

I know of at least one other person who had the same exact problem at about the same time, which leads me to believe there was an issue with TracFone's system at that time.
Regardless of the proof you have in your defense, TracFone's canned and only response to resolution is to tell you all of your texts/minutes have been consumed and your only option is to buy another plan. This "solution" was repeated to me at every personnel level I interacted with. If you need a pre-paid service, I would recommend trying any of the other companies before TracFone. I eventually bought a total of 3 of these phones within 24 hours because I needed to provide one to an elderly person. I also bought 2 sets of minutes, one set of which disappeared into nothingness when the first phone was deactivated. These phones do everything except make and receive phone calls. Once activated, when trying to place a call, I got a recording that said "Your temporary passcode to activate your phone has been defaulted to the last 4 digits of your phone number. Press 1 for English." After pressing 1, the recording said "That is an invalid entry." It then said to "Hold while we connect you with a customer support representative," after which the call was disconnected. This happened consistently ALL DAY LONG.
After spending 3 hours with tech support via Chat and 2 phone calls to the 800 number, they said first that it was user error (I wasn't pressing "1" correctly) and that finally, when it became clear that it was not user error, it was a bad SIM card. I took the phone back where I bought it and exchanged the phone for a new one, but when that was done, the minutes I had previously purchased "disappeared." I called customer support before attempting to activate the second phone to be sure I did everything correctly.
After activating the 2nd phone and paying for more minutes, the EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED. Same recordings, and still unable to make or receive a phone call with this phone! I purchased a 3rd phone that was a little bit of an upgrade than the first 2, but wasn't able to transfer the minutes to it. This has been a total waste of time and an absolute exercise in futility. I will NEVER do this again. It has been such a frustrating experience. Save yourself the aggravation. Find something else.

She said I would have to wait till time ran out on old phone before new phone would kick in? I knew better than that so called back again. Got a fairly fluent English speaking person. Said no problem, was gone for long time with my information... Came back and said all set. Next day new phone will be up and running. Next day --- nothing new!
Called QVC and they were nice as pie, very clear English speech, etc. Verified the plan I had paid them for and gave me # to call @ Tracfone cause they couldn't do anything. Has to come from them. Called Tracfone... Got an excellent tech guy. Walked him through problem. Within 10 minutes had my new phone up and running and my triple time for life or so I thought.
Still missing one of the 3 sites I was to get with program. Called you know who again. Broken English, reading from a paper as to what to do, etc. Excused herself for few minutes while fixing the problem. Now listen to this one. She said she had brought up my new phone number and read me the remaining time for phone, text & data. Phone & text were right but she said I had used up over 1200 of my data already. I asked her how that could be when it was never put on my new phone? Said she didn't know but it had been used. Giant rip off they used to sell on QVC program. I drive a lot for work so want an emergency phone to stay with my vehicle in case I forget my daily phone as I too often do. I bought the TracFone Alcatel Raven because it's advertised as having "blazing fast" speeds on Verizon's 4G LTE network. I've had the phone a month now. Setting it up was a nightmare--mostly because EVERYTHING on the phone takes so long to execute. I remember the early flip phones (before smartphones) on which accessing the web was a joke because they were just so slow. TracFone is even worse. Tonight I'd forgotten my phone at my office about 100 miles away from where I realized I didn't have it, so I pulled out the TracFone to download an app I needed to do something critical. I started downloading the small app, drove FIVE towns away on the highway, and as I got off the highway I looked at the phone in dismay as it told me only 9% of the tiny app had downloaded.
So I ran some errands to waste time. An hour later I was parked in front of a library with the phone reading less than 50% of the app downloaded. Finally arriving back home, I turned the phone off and threw it back in my glove compartment, the app NOT downloaded. Nothing I do improves internet access speed. It most certainly isn't 4G LTE as advertised. The phone feels, not just cheap, but toy-ish. It fails to recognize touch-input often or is so imprecise touch input is often impractical. And customer support is non-existent. If you don't want to be bogged down by a contract AND you don't want to pay Verizon's or AT&T's exorbitant monthly rates just for a phone you rarely use, there are MANY vastly superior options than TracFone. TracFone is the Walmart of fashion stores. Worse, more like the dumpster-diving of restaurants. Stay away from this product if you at all can.

Before there were smartphones, they were called cell phones or still are today, but that's not the reason I'm posting this. It's about people like me that can't afford to go into phone plans for $40 or more a month so I've had to use Pay-As-You-Go type plans that only cost me $15 to $20 a month. The phone I have is a smartphone that I could barely afford but anyway, when calls are made (incoming, outgoing, or missed calls) it shows me the length of each call, down to the second. I'd never paid much attention to it before but my curiosity got the best of me to start calculating/adding up what was in my call log. To put it best or an actual example, I ran out of talk time minutes from one day to the next, not knowing that I had until I looked on my phone the next morning when I awoke. Had plenty of "Text" & "Mobile Data" left but talk time was "0".
I thought it was kind of strange that I just ran out of minutes all of sudden but the only thing I could do was go purchase another air-time card. The talk time mins. I purchased was for 200mins. It was then, right after I got the new card, I started calculating my minutes. The first two calls was one for 4 mins:56 secs. & the second, 1min.:01sec. That's 5:57 of mins used/added up. Then I get a incoming call, I look at my caller I.D. but I don't recognize the number, so I don't answer it. Three calls total. Shortly after, I look up on my phone to what is shown by my service provider of how many mins I have left. It's showing me that I have 192 mins of talk time. I'm thinking to myself, that can't be right.
That's 2 mins & :03 secs more than what I have totaled. So I go online and do a "Chat" with one of their reps. This is what I found out. Say for instance, 1:01 of talk time = 2 mins. Incoming calls that I don't answer are deducted from my mins. Going back to what I said previously to start, my very first cell phone was a Tracfone and I can remember that I wasn't charged for mins. that I didn't use. That seems fair, right? So if that's the case, then it's damn sure unfair to charge me mins that I'm not actually using, and again, right? I can't understand what's happened from back in the cellphone days till now but I was told after I chatted with one or two of their reps. that it was how the service is or calculated. I was totally appalled and very disappointed in a company that I've been with since cellphones began. The way it makes me feel is like I'm not getting what I'm paying for and I'm being taken advantage of. (Ripped Off).

LG Premier LTE (LG L62VL) - My TracFone is only a few months old and the sim card died. Customer service said it could be due to the battery running down, the phone getting wet or being in a low service area. The battery did not run down, the phone did not get wet and I was not in a low service area. CS said I would receive a replacement in 3-5 business days. I told CS that I believe TracFone sent me a defective sim card and should overnight it. CS told me they could not send anything overnight. A supervisor then told me the only way they ship overnight is if you purchase something. I would not recommend TracFone to anyone.

I've had their phones for about 10 years (because I am on Soc. Sec., poor). After initial poor reception & other issues & getting newer model phones several times, I attempted to switch phones a few years ago: they deactivated my old serial # but were unable to activate the new; after a few days of no service, I had them revert to my old serial #/phone. Mid-March I had 73 minutes & service paid thru 5/28/18. When I attempted to buy additional minutes online, my phone # didn't appear. During live chat I was told I had over 800 minutes (I didn't misunderstand, I used snipping tool to save the chat)!!! I tried to use my phone a few days later & found I could not place calls. I had to wait till I could get back to a computer & when I again used live chat, I was told I had changed my #!!!
Of course I had not but the 800 minute claim makes me wonder if my record on their computer had been corrupted. Kyle kept insisting I had changed my # but finally said he could fix the problem. He got the phone so I could make calls & confirmed I had 73 minutes & service thru 5/28. HE didn't tell me HE had just changed my #! When I went back on live chat, Ann said she had no idea why my # was changed! I had paid for service & they messed up. When I call my "old" #, it is not in service, so logic says they should be able to restore it, but they say they can't. They sold it to me, they deactivated it & any reputable business would attempt to correct their error. I've received one call on the new #: debt collector trying to get me to pay my CC bill. I have no credit card & TracFone has given me the # of a deadbeat! I'm old enough that when people call me & hear my phone is not in service, they will think I'm dead. Thank you, TracFone!

I purchased an LG from a shopping network and the SIM card never worked. I was sent a new SIM card. It did not work. I then was sent a FedEx package to return the phone and cards to TracFone fulfillment center which I did. These people have been total jerks. They DO NOT want to give me a new phone OR return my money. I heard one guy tell me how he was going to get the phone returned to me. I did as I was told and followed the directions. Then they ask for this number next time another number. I have tried to work with them. I called them NUMEROUS times. I had an agent tell me, "Did you know you called us X number of times." YUP and you have my phone AND my money so buy your own lunch.
I want either a NEW phone that works or my money returned. It really doesn't take an Einstein to figure that out; believe you me the TracFone is HORRIBLE with their customer service. They lie, they rip people off, and then a person isn't suppose to get mad. When they're backed in a corner and basically too stupid to answer a question they tell you how they're going to release the call and hang up. Try their customer service you will wait AT LEAST 20 mins and get absolutely nowhere with these idiots. Furthermore, I think they're from a different country because they are immensely difficult to understand YET ALONE ATTEMPT to reason with.... Their brains are like a train just on a single track and nothing can be added if you tried.
I am so disappointed in this experience and with this company. Out of all honesty, TracFone has been a HORRIBLE company to deal with. Buy locally and do NOT deal with these dumb idiots... My Blood pressure escalated to an atrociously high number dealing with this business. VERY RUDE, VERY BULL HEADED. There was a few people who were an asset to TracFone but the majority... should be doing something that has nothing to do with Customer Service or take lessons on how to deal with clients. They also go quiet for a long time hoping you'll hang up but don't fall for it or you'll start all over. I got off that call with nothing resolved only to discover they deactivated my 2nd TracFone. I've spent 10 hrs on the phone in 2 days and nobody will reactivate my account, tell me what happened & one I had had for 20 yrs. Asking for a manager or corporate is a joke-you can tell that they too play the game of let's see how to get rid of this call by transferring them to lots of people who will do nothing and transfer you some more.
I've never seen such rude, unhelpful, & unethical customer service in my life. They seem to care nothing about fixing this problem even though what they've done is fraud, you can't just deactivate service, steal minutes and say, "Tough luck". I purchased a Samsung Galaxy J7 on Walmart Family Mobile and I have never had my time and money wasted like this in years. After getting the phone, I relocated about a hundred miles. This was almost 4 weeks later. Upon arriving at my destination I noticed I had no data and no signal. No texts, no calls. I went to the local Walmart with my receipt and was told I couldn't exchange it because it had been more than 15 days. I wasn't aware of this and assumed it would be an easy transaction having my receipt in hand and only wanting an exchange for a Straight Talk phone. Well those 100 miles made all the difference. I was S. O. L. so they put me on the phone with a rep from the company (at the counter) who provided no real info or help.
I called TracFone AND THIS IS THE PAINFUL PART. I called their 1-800 number and was tossed around between their operators like a rag doll. At this point, I was asking for a simple unlock code, because I owned the phone outright-and by law they must provide me with one. I waited 21 minutes the first time; only to be kicked right back to the main prompt. Another 12 minutes of waiting to be told I'd have to be transferred. Another half hour of waiting to be greeted by the unlocking department where I after giving him all my info ie; imei number, phone number, zip code, etc. That took about ten minutes of him apologizing that it was taking so long, checking to see if he could do it and after that he said I had to own the phone for a year to be able to unlock it. I'm pretty sure if you own a phone outright you may unlock it so as not to be held captive by any one carrier. I may be wrong.
They couldn't help me in any way, even by switching my zip code. It was an area they do not cover. No refund, no unlock. No nothing. The worst part to me though - when he said I'd have to turn my phone on for the zipcode change. As I powered it on he asked me if I had service. I said that I didn't because I wasn't going to buy another service plan because the phone didn't work. That's right. He didn't even check it out first using the zipcode of my new town. He said "for me to be able to update your phone for your new town, you will have to purchase a service plan." To which I replied "Are you sure the towers carry your signal there"? He told me I could pay using a credit card and he would refund me if it didn't (not having even checked yet). After much time and energy at the so-called "refund center" nothing could be done for me. Hours of nothing, for nothing. Cost analysis as flows: 154.00. Time-3.5 hours=45.00

This company TOTALLY ripped me off, I have a plan that allows me to triple my minutes when I add them to the phone, it also X amount of text messages and also X about of GB access to the internet. I noticed my text messages were going down very quickly and wondered why, I'm not a teenager texting a massive amount of people, I normally text only one person a day and that may be an exchange sending 5 texts to them and receiving 5 back. When I looked at my quantity of text before and after ONE day I noticed something odd, the amount of texts went down considerably, more than 5 text or even 10 text, confused I looked to talk to someone at TracFone.
First of all, this company does NOT make it easy to talk to a human being, you call and have to go thru a bunch of number pressing to get a human being, once you do you feel like you're calling a foreign country where the English there isn't as spoken if you were born in the USA, the customer service is inferior, I believe this is done on purpose, as if you're calling on your phone, you are burning up minutes you paid for, trying to get help. First they told me I get charged 30 cents a minute for TEXTING, then I said, "What? Never heard of paying per minute for texts." Then she said she made a mistake. At a certain point all confused by talking to an employee that really didn't seem to have any clue why I was calling and what they were talking about. I asked to speak to a supervisor, she transferred me to an automated system that clearly wasn't a supervisor picking up the phone to assist one of their PAYING CUSTOMERS.
I then went to their website hoping I could chat online with customer service, it showed it was available, but when I clicked the icon to chat online, nothing happened. They say chatting online is available, but do not give you the ability to actually do so. Total scam there. I then thought, maybe I can send them an email for assistance. No emails. This company wants you to handwrite or type them a letter and mail it to their address in Florida. This is 2018 and they want me to type a letter and mail it to them instead of sending an email??? What would be the purpose of not offering the ability to email??? DELAYED CUSTOMER SERVICE, INCONVENIENCE SO YOU DROP YOUR COMPLAINT AND NOT COMPLAIN.
This company does everything it seems to take my money, especially extra minutes off my phone for phone calls I never made. Then I thought, maybe I can just go to a physical location, I'm in the Chicagoland area, that shouldn't be to hard right??? WRONG. There is no physical location in Chicagoland area. You can not talk to an employee that works for TracFone, they do not exist. So I am left with a phone that is taking my money more quickly than it should, customer service that doesn't speak and understand fluent english well enough to assist be efficiently so I'm not burning through minutes I am paying them to call them on their phone.
If I had this to do again, with the experience of disappearing minutes, disappearing text quantity of texts I never made, I would never have done business with TracFone. It is a scam, lack of proper efficient assistance and no ability to send emails, no ability to chat online, only way to really contact them is by placing a stamp on an envelope and sending them a letter... This is 2018!!! No real way to properly communicate with them without burning big time on minutes because the employees are horrible. Maybe this is the whole plan, which is why they do not offer online chat or accept emails. Avoid this company, once my minutes disappear I will be going to a company that is more reputable, unless they fix their ways and start offering the ability to talk to employees online and via email, where I am not paying them to communicate with them about my account.

I am astounded and a bit apprehensive that this fix is going to last since it is the 3rd time now that I have contacted TracFone about my son's phone issues. After posting my rant about having to keep contacting TracFone regarding the service day's issue on my son's TracFone I decided to try to make contact via their chat. Someone by the name of Philipp was actually able to get his phone issue rectified, for the time being it will remain to be seen if it goes south again next month, with a couple code entries. Unlike the previous folks I dealt with before, Philipp was able to get this done in less than 15 minutes, via their chat window. So okay, TracFone has come through rather quickly this time.
I am at a loss to say that any other cell phone service provider could do any better at the cost I am paying for 3 phones under the family plan. I dare say I would never go back to Verizon because they cost 3 times more for one phone than what I am paying for 3. Always the pluses and minuses. Thank you ConsumerAffairs for having this consumer review board. I read several reviews from other folks about TracFone and I must say you really have to weigh the pros and the cons of any company out there. For my family I will stick with TracFone as long as they stay the best bang for the buck.

I'd get it the next day. Still no phone. I called back. They said it wasn't shipped. They would not tell me why. Just kept lying with excuses and I got hung up on 1 more time. They claimed they couldn't give me any information. I called again. This is the 6th by now. They claimed they were shipping it this eve and I'd get it tomorrow. I'm sure that's another lie. My gut told me not to fool with them. I wish I had listened. Now they got my money and I don't know what to do. I'm on disability. I gotta budget my money. I'm gonna try to take legal action including seeing if I have a lawsuit. I'm so frustrated.

I contacted TracFone to get my full minutes applied and was told I didn’t have a triple minute plan. Since then, I have been hung up on, put on endless hold and my e-mail complaints have gone unanswered. It is too bad that I will have to change my service because TracFone does not honor their service plans.

I have used TracFone since 2008, usually purchasing one-year service with approximately 650 minutes. My usage of the phone is minimal because it is used for emergencies only; therefore, most of my yearly minutes rolled over every year until I had accumulated over 4,000 minutes by 2016. In 2016, I purchased the 2-year service with over 600 minutes. On December 19, 2017, I went to place a call and all of my minutes had been deleted!
When I called TracFone, the representative was difficult to understand, very rude and insisted that there was no record of my payments except the 2-year service in 2016. She practically called me a liar when I insisted that I had been paying for one-year service every year since 2008. Finally, I decided to write a letter to the CEO of Tracfone in Miami, Florida explaining everything to him, sending copies of my credit card invoices for every year showing my payments to Tracfone and requesting an explanation as to why they had no record of my years of payments. Also, that I wanted my 4,000 minutes reinstated. This was on January 16, 2018 and I have yet to receive a response from the CEO or anyone else at TracFone. If I do not hear from this gentleman or his representative by March 1, 2018, I will refer this matter to the Federal government agency to which TracFone is responsible.

I thought that was a ridiculous amount of time to process an order for something that is supposed to be immediately available, and I stated my opinion to the TracFone representative. I received a very rude response. My suspicion is that they pull a bait and switch with the free shipping by collecting orders and shipping cheaply to a different location from which they finally "process" the order and provide overnight shipping.
How it could possibly take 6-10 days to put a label on a box and have it picked up by FedEx is beyond me. My suspicion is further raised by the fact that the time is stated as a minimum of 6-10 days, not 1-10, and USPS Priority is 6-10 days. Also, the only tracking provided is on their site. This sort of shady dealing makes me unable to trust them, and I plan to switch to a more honest company once my current account is depleted. I was told there was no problem doing that, as well as transferring the unused minutes (444) and days (32) from the bad phone. Also, no problem. After a hour of seemingly endless, and repetitive questions, the transfer was not yet completed. I was transferred to another tech who would complete the activation and transfer.
He had no idea why I was transferred to him and the connection was broken. I called back and asked for a manager. She said it was company policy to change phone numbers ONLY as new service activation, with no accumulated minutes from any Tracfone account.
When I told her their ads did not mention this, nor did the original tech rep or the first woman I talked to make the change. Because I only use a cell phone to call home occasionally, I bought a TracFone. I've been a customer for over 10 years with several different phones over that time period. After over 10 years of TracFone experience, I just lost all my accumulated minutes over 5739 minutes, over 5 GB of data and 7339 texts. After over 7 hours of arguing with customer service over a 3 day period, I received about 2282 minutes but no data or texts. I notice number complaints of people losing their minutes and I wanted to add my story to the many. Be careful if you have a TracFone and you are transferring data, you may want to take a date stamped photo of your info before the transfer.

I also purchased a 120 minute TracFone minutes cards that cost somewhere around $30. I could not get the unhelpful CSRs at TF to take off the old password because I didn't have another phone number so they could call me back on?? I have since taken the phone back to WalMart for a FULL refund but TracFone WILL NOT reimburse me or refund me or give me a TF credit for the lost minutes that I never got to use but paid for!
The CSR told me that since I purchased the phone card from WM TracFone will not issue any partial or full refunds. In other words in order to receive a refund for the unused minutes I paid for I had to pay for the minutes with a CC from the TF website. I hope that TF goes out of business or bankrupt due to their unscrupulous business tactics.

Wanted to keep old phone # that I have had forever and transfer the substantial remaining time I have with old phone and number. There was an English speaking person with very heavy foreign accent who assured me that my phone number as well as my time would be transferred to my new iPhone within 24 hours. And this is a TracFone iPhone.
FORGET IT! NOT DONE!!! BEGINNING OF THE END FOR TRACFONE! They dont care about their American consumers whose English is their FIRST and ONLY language. Consumers who have been with them from the beginning. Either they will learn what PC brands learned long ago after transferring tech help to foreign countries and then back to USA or they will go down the drain of collapsed out of business companies of the past. I kept a TracFone for emergencies. My regular phone died today and since I had purchased this Tracfone the last time I had problems with my phone I pulled it out expecting to simply have to buy more minutes. Not that easy. I reached some person that English was not their native language who was going to help me 1. log into my account, 2. activate my phone. Though it was difficult to understand him after a series of questions he finally told me my Sim card was expired. He placed me on hold several times and then came back on the line and told me that he had requested a new Sim card for me. How nice. He told me he created a ticket and that when it resolved I would be able to activate my phone. I was OK with that. He hung up and did not help me log into my account, which they sent me the password for and I still cannot log in.
That was midday. At 5:30 I began to try to activate my phone. Long story short, I still cannot log into my account and when I got someone on the phone this time I was told that the sim card would be mailed to me. I was in shock and asked for a supervisor. He did not help, and none of the three people I spoke with have great skills in speaking English. They cannot activate my account nor can they help me log into my email apparently until I get this Sim card. This is my first and last experience with Tracfone. I knew it was a cheap phone when I bought it. I was correct, it was a cheap phone and even cheaper customer service. It is true that you get what you pay for. I will be traveling using someone else's phone tonight but never again will I spend a cent on Tracfone. A total waste of money.

Verizon wants too much for the same service and requires a service plan with an enormous security deposit. Virgin Mobile is not worth the trouble because when you contact them, no one understands or speaks English. I purchased a new smartphone from TracFone for $20.00, have not had a problem, and because I purchased the phone from them, the minutes I purchase on the cards are tripled for as long as I have the phone. I have not only an LG Rebel new smartphone but I also was able to buy a year’s prepaid service plan. I have been very pleased for several reasons. The first reason is that this smartphone is so very easy to use which is great as this is my first smartphone. Secondly with its operating system being Android, it recognized my tablet and downloaded everything from my tablet. I was so relieved that I did not have to do all of that work on my smartphone. I still have plenty of data left as needed, my minutes are satisfactory as I only use minutes in case of emergency or if the electricity were to go out. I did need to add more text use, but it was an exceptional price as is adding any extra data or minutes. I would not recommend this plan if one needed to use this plan for work or if one needs/wants to use it to talk or use an excessive amount of data.

TracFone is by far the worst company that I have ever dealt with. I’ve spent countless hours on the phone and wasting hundreds of TracFone minutes (that I paid for) dealing with issues regarding my TracFone problems, always needing to repeat myself over and over again and answering the same questions over and over again. The foreign people that are TracFone’s customer service, speak English, but do not listen well and seem to not understand English. It’s beyond frustrating. I have spent hours waiting for them to check something, “process” what needs to be done (which rarely works) or being dished off to a supervisor that I need to go through the whole grueling process, always from square one.
“Notes” from your last phone call, seem to be non-existent with your follow-up call about the same issue not being resolved. TracFone is never more efficient or effective whenever I call or whomever I speak with. Nothing but headaches... This company should be investigated. DO NOT BUY TRACFONE OR THEIR MINUTES... otherwise you’ll regret it.

I've been with Tracfone for about 10 years and have never had a problem. A couple months ago I decided to updated from a very simple Tracfone to a Tracfone Smartphone. In activating and setting up the phone there was a problem. After several "chats" they decided the phone was defective. They sent me a prepaid Fedex envelope to send the phone back to the warehouse and then they were to resend me a replacement which I assumed would be the same model phone. "Someone" canceled that order. This is what it took to finally get me a phone:
Phones received: 2 that were cheaper by 33% when NEW, but these were used refurbished phones. 1 that was a different model but at least of equal value. I finally talked to "T" @ the Corporate Office who actually knew what she was doing and cared about my dilemma. It took some doing and several phone calls, but she is the one that got me a phone and helped me with the activation.
She gave me her direct phone number so I didn't have to keep talking to a different person, each time having to explain the problem all over again. What I don't understand is how the phone I ordered is still available on Amazon, but not in the Tracfone warehouse. Tracfone needs to realize that while it may have a reasonable cell phone service, it has a long ways to go in improving its customer service. The reps need to be better educated in the process, and to speak English more clearly.

Called to get some support with my Sunset Plaza LG TracFone. Had to speak to 3 agents, but they did not fix my issue. Now, it's worth noting their support is routed to the Philippines, I usually have great rapport with these wonderful people, but this time was different; 1st girl was slow to respond when spoken to, lacked empathy, had NO sense of humor & spent the majority of our time on the phone making excuses that she was limited in her ability to help me, had very little resources but would do her best. (She said that 4 or 5 times) Hum! Her best was pretty pathetic! 20 min into the call I realized I would get nothing from that sad, poorly trained employee.
I didn't give up, and called again; hoping for someone a bit more experienced & perhaps with a better disposition. Frankly; the next girl was no better & wasted more of my time by giving me the runaround, on top of that; she was also a mumbler, I could understand maybe 2 out of 5 words she spoke, she didn't enunciate and barely had an accent! She knew even less than I do and gave me the same go nowhere frustrating runaround the last girl did! She pretended to pass me onto a supervisor... but instead I was on INDEFINITE HOLD!!! In a vortex of wasted time for over 15 min, almost an hour spent with dealing with sub-par communication. I hung up and tried again!!! 3rd time; not a charm! The next girl sounded like I just woke her up! They all had an attitude problem like a total lack of confidence in their ability to do the job - she was just as frustrating as the last 2.
I don't believe TracFone is even training their employees to help with routine issues, it's a shame; because their product isn't terrible, it's not great; but for these rates, I can't be too mad. Their phones don't last, so they need to be replaced yearly, but you wind up only paying for the minutes. By the time I hung the phone up; my issue had still not been resolved. TracFone ONLY PROVIDES MINIMAL TECH SUPPORT WITH THEIR PHONES BECAUSE THEIR EMPLOYEES KNOW A LOT LESS THAN WE DO! The company has been in business long enough to have made strides & should have progressed & evolved by now; but nothing has improved at TracFone, as far as tech support; my experience was far below expectations. Luckily; a half hour later; I had figured things out on my own & finally succeeded in downloading my sound files to my hard drive & was able to play them. Huge relief!!! No thanks to TracFone support!
TracFone; please train your overseas team to be more knowledgeable about your products, and help them loosen up a little, they all sound so tightly wound up, the 1st one was overly submissively polite and "maamed" me to death! Pet peeve! I hate to be called Maam a bunch of times in a row! It was constant in every sentence, I told the girl, talk to me like we're friends ~ She went silent & was having none of it! Loosen up ladies, being friendly doesn't make you less professional, take some pleasure in your work! In America; it's a requirement!

It was only when I called them and spoke to a very professional and apologetic CSR that I learned of the change. She even spoke to her supervisor and told me there is nothing they can do. TracFone prepaid contracts with carriers, such as AT&T and Verizon, but this whole concept is very misleading! One would expect the phone to work off of whichever network that's available in the area, but not so. It depends on the particular Tracfone-branded phone that you buy (and the info on what network that phone used may not be known to you until you get the phone). Example: I had the Tracfone Alcatel flip phone model, which used AT&T. Worked great in my mountain area, and I could usually use it when traveling. Phone had no WiFi, so I bought Tracfone-branded Samsung Galaxy Sky. That's when problem began.
It used Verizon 4G/LTE. Their maps are misleading. NO BARS EVER at my house. Signal reception in town okay, but then South of Chatsworth, GA, all the way to Cartersville, GA, zero bars! That's a 1 hour drive. Map disclaimers imply there may be small "pockets" of no reception, but clearly this is large area. Tracfone Customer Service turns a deaf ear to this complaint. If you happen to get a phone that utilizes a viable network, then I have no complaint w/ Tracfone contracts. Very affordable. Sometimes it's hard to know which card is best, but they do have many affordable options.

We used TracFone successfully for two year as a phone our child could use when they needed a ride or if there was an emergency. When we purchased a second phone, the relationship went south. TracFone was more than happy to collect money but less likely to provide useful service and a refund when the phone and minutes didn't work. I wasted hours of my life trying to make the phone work by entering long strings of numbers provided by TracFone tech support. If I had the endurance and could outlast the TracFone tech support, they would pass me off to the next level of tech support for another night and more hours of mindless number entering.
The piece de resistance was when I finally outlasted all of the TracFone tech support and the final tech support person / manager who was suppose to give me a credit placed the phone down on the desk with the phone still on and walked away. As I sit here approximately a year later, I have no credit for a non functioning phone and useless minutes but TracFone has sent me two e-mails requesting a review and letting us know we need to add more minutes to the phone.
