My family are not big phone users. Calls and texts only. So we don't need anything fancy, which makes TracFone perfect for us. I've had good experience with TracFone for about 15 years. 4 TracFone in my house. I transferred everything over from very old phone to a new one. I bought a phone on July 11, 2019 from TracFone.com. I could not get that phone to work. After over an hour on phone with customer service I was told he would send us a FEDEX prepaid envelope. Phone was returned. Keep in mind over 1400 was put in new phone but then deleted because phone doesn't work. Now no phone has my minutes. They sent me a new phone. Keep in mind I paid $80 for new phone. They sent me a refurbished $40 phone to replace the brand new one that didn't work! I was so mad. I was told to just return it. 2 weeks later no phone! And my original old phone don't work either! I've been with NO phone for a month.
When I called TracFone a week ago I was asked for tracking numbers. Numbers? There is no receipt with the phone and phone #2 went through US postal. She told me she has no record of me in her computer since 2017. OMG! She can't, she go back and at least see a phone was sent to my house a month ago? One was returned? Another returned? Apparently not! She said I can expect a new phone in another week! Just by going by what I told her, and not being able to look me up. Even when giving her my TracFone number. Oh..,c'mon! I have never had problems. But if you get a phone that don't work! Good luck! Every call I've made there is a different operator. Nobody knows a thing and information don't get recorded in their computer properly. It's a mess. I have NO phone. I'll never get reimbursed for my $80 phone. And maybe my 1400 minutes, just lost? Disgusted!!

Wife had phone from QVC that came with 1500 minutes. QVC said no time limit. Found out the phone was not compatible and was sent new phone which was supposed to be compatible and free minutes. After 2 hours and 4 people at TracFone still do not have minutes, they say we have to go back to QVC and get another PIN number. People who answer phones have no ability to back up their promises or get a simple job done. Been TracFone customer for too long, QVC should be more careful about using this company.

Since I am a low-volume user I appreciate the cheap prices for Tracfone, however there are reception problems in my area that they have not been able to resolve. Also their phone call path is a mean-spirited practical joke on the customer, and their customer "service" reps are in the "English as a second language at best" category nor do they think in English, very exasperating to deal with. I just got off of a 45 minutes phone call with one because I could not access my account using my correct password and what they sent to my email address not getting through.

Bought a phone that was supposed to be unlocked and turned out to be through Tracfone. They refused to unlock the phone and I was hung up on 5 times while trying to talk with a manager. 2 hours on hold total. Worst customer service experience I've ever had. Will be following up with the Better Business Bureau.

I bought an iPhone X paid in FULL and proceeded to activate my phone on TracFone's total wireless network. Wanting to switch carriers since they don’t have Mobile hotspot offered on that network. Come to find out they locked my phone (that I own) and refuse to unlock it stating the terms and conditions say I have to have my phone active on their network for 12 months. Now wouldn’t that indicate a contract?? I had to buy a whole new phone to dump their crap service and crap customer service. I am planning on suing them in small claims court due to false advertising of no contract and also for basically stealing my phone as the iPhone I paid for in FULL CASH TOO is unusable because they will not unlock it. Buyer BEWARE. THEY ARE THIEVES AND FALSELY ADVERTISE NO CONTRACT BUT IN FACT HAVE IT HIDDEN IN THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS!

Had Total Wireless, a part of the TracFone group. Asked to transfer our phone to TracFone and was told we could. No problem. Gave them the requested information and we were good to go. They canceled our Total Wireless account. Started the process and asked for credit card and couldn't activate our phone. Advised us to go purchase a minutes card at store and try again. Still can't activate. We asked to reactivate our Total Wireless account again and they said our phone was not compatible. By this time we had been on the phone 4 hours.
Our phone was working perfect on Total Wireless. So they advised us to purchase a new TracFone at store. We did and proceeded to activate and asked for the phone number we have had for 10 years. They said no problem. Phone was activated with new number and now they can't get our old number back. This the worst company I have ever dealt with and they have offered no satisfaction whatsoever! I would give them 0 stars if possible. So far 7 hours on the phone. And now they can't reactivate the new phone! A JOKE!!!!

I have had TracFone for many years and it's been generally 'OK'. About a month ago I got a new LG Rebel android phone which was ok for a couple weeks, then it started to put a green box around anything I tap on, then when that comes up there is another green box I have to tap on twice more to access. I called TracFone and they said it's built in and can't change it. It's a major pain to do that tapping and often it takes a few tries to get where I want to go. Also, the computer voice is quite garbled. I cannot recommend TracFone at this time.

This is the hardest phone I ever had. Very difficult to navigate. By the time I get it right, it will be time to buy a new phone. Paid 60 bucks for it. Took a week to get and a day to activate. I would love to talk to someone NOT from India named Chuck. Can't understand them half the time and have to hang up and call back to get someone I can understand. Whole experience was stressful.

I had a Samsung Galaxy TracFone, I bought from HSN. I loved the phone, I was told I had to upgrade because of network changes, TracFone said they would send me a replacement. I had already bought the $125 plan for my Samsung from TracFone on 4/01/2019. They sent me a recondition TCL LX. I was not happy with it, It wouldn't hold the charge, picture taking was terrible. Called TracFone, they sent me an envelope to send the phone back. This I did, and received another TCL LX. I called to have it activated, They couldn't find my account. This took place on 6/23/2019. They said they will set me up with a new account, and give me a new phone number, which I didn't want.
Since they deleted my account, I had no min, text, or data...after numerous calls and rude customer service, they gave me 488, 488, 488, I am so furious. I don't know who to complain to..I actually believe the agents deleted my account. How can a company be so rude to their customers. They took my money and deleted my account. And all the agents will tell you the same thing because they are reading from a sheet of instructions in front of them. When my time runs out no more TracFone for me....so BEWARE. My 125.00 was plus tax came to $140.00 and was authorize by TracFone on 3/26/2019 at 10:41 AM. But they lost my account.

Updated on 7/10/2019: After having dealings with TracFone for about 5 years, trying to get updated phones, I paid for two new Samsung Galaxy's J3 Luna Pro. As stated in earlier post one was defective, returned that unit and got a refurbished unit that they sold for 1/2 the price of the new phone I ordered. I sent it back in order to get the phone replaced with what was on my original order. I received an ever cheaper (Unknown name) phone. I called TracFone asking them for a full refund and was told they don't do refunds. In the meantime, they deactivated my number and could not tell me why it was deactivated. Finally after spending many hours on the phone with them they finally re-activated the number, however, my phone does not (via their app) indicated how many minutes, text, or how much data I have remaining. My service ends on 11/28/19 and I cannot get, via the app, how many minutes I have remaining. However, I know it is 3,912 as of 6/28.
The last time I spoke with TracFone I was told to leave my phone on and it would be updated. That was two days ago and it is still not correct. I explained to them that I wanted to transfer the minutes, etc. to the new phone when I receive it but that does no good. The best thing I can recommend to dissatisfied customers is to get online and contact the Better Business Bureau and the FCC. This company is headquartered in Mexico, however, has an office in Miami and the BBB in Miami can or hopefully act on your behalf. All their service centers are out of the USA and it is difficult to get anything done as you are sent from person to person and each person you speak with has to have your problem explained to them. Very sorry service, will check out Spectrum's service in December. Hate to lose the time, minutes, and data that I've paid for on one phone until 12/31 and the one they deactivated through 11/28/19. HELP HELP HELP!!!
Original Review: I was told recently that the older LG phone I had would not be compatible with the newer 4-5G speeds. I order two, new Samsung (older styles) phones. One came in defective. I called and spent about 4 hours on the phone trying to explain my problem. I was told to send the phone back in a 'prepaid' envelope they would send me. Received it the next week, return the defective new phone. I, about a week or so later got a replacement phone only to find out that it was a refurbished unit with a 90 day limited warranty. I call them to request a credit for the difference in a new phone and the refurbished one I received. Kept getting 'Escalated', (their term) to another customer service rep. I did not get any satisfaction regarding a credit, etc. but was told to send the refurbished unit back and they would send me a new phone. I suggested their website indicated they did not have any new phones of that model.
Now, the past week or so I've spent about 10-12 hours on the phone with them trying to get this problem resolved. Sorriest customer service of any company, phone, power, etc., I've ever had the misfortune to do business with. When my minutes and/or time runs out I will switch to a company that respect and appreciate their customers. I suggest to anyone that is thinking about doing business with TracFone to search elsewhere and forget about doing business with a company where the customer service is in Guatemala, Columbia, or the Philippines when their home office is in Miami, Florida. On a ranking of 1 to 10, I give the company a minus 100.

I purchased a new phone, after I had it all activated I found out the phone was defective. They sent me a new phone. The letter that came with new phone said if my other phone was activated I wouldn't have to activate new one. Went to make a call and couldn't. Call Tracfone and they said I would have to have a new number and pay for activation. I said I want my money back. They told me to take the phone back to where I bought it. Took the phone back to Walmart and they said they couldn't refund my money because I had a replacement phone and the serial number didn't match with the receipt. I called Tracfone several times to get my money back with no luck. The customer service is terrible and no one can speak very good English. I no longer will do business with them.

I bought Tracfone A502DL from Roswell Walmart in Roswell, GA, with a view to upgrade from my Alcatel One touch. I am a long time customer of Tracfone. This phone was defective - no sound, no ringing, and nothing could make it work. Sent a few days trying help from Tracfone and was suggested that I need to return the phone for Tracfone to send me a replacement. I followed their suggestion, got a prepaid FEDEX bag on May 28. I sent the defective phone and it was delivered to Tracfone by FEDEX on May 31 at 10:50 am. I thought I will get my replacement in a few days.
On June 18, 2019 (the day I am writing this) I have not received the replacement. I have chatted, called and talked over phone several times during these 3 weeks and I am yet to get any positive response. Every time I go through the same drill and get the answer that the replacement is being sent; I am supposed to get a notification within 24 hours (since early June!) but no indication yet. Even if the phone is being shipped direct from China, I should have gotten it by now. I have already paid for the service but am yet to get the phone.

Here is my advice for all Tracfone users, log in to your Tracfone account often and keep records of your minutes, service end date and auto refill dates. If you haven't run into problems yet, you will at some point. Take a photo with your phone of the screen w/ your minutes and record on paper/spreadsheet. You will need this information. Service can go fine for awhile without issues.
But should anything change such as updating credit card, or simply calling CS, etc. all your minutes/auto refill and service end date can change and or be wiped out totally and all this while attempting to get help from their CS that will keep you on the phone for hours upon hours, only to screw things up more, all the while assuring you that everything is fine, they have fixed it and your minutes will be restored & to check back later, or have no explanation as to why your minutes were wiped out, but they can only reinstate you under a new plan. Meanwhile their auto refill didn't go through and cancelled your plan for no apparent reason even though their system showed the auto refill date and you were reassured beforehand that everything is on schedule.
Whatever the case may be I see this happening a lot with others and there is a running theme here, this company is unscrupulous and has unlawful practices. I suggest everyone consider gathering their similar experiences and join a class action lawsuit, We cannot be taken advantage of, then simply say we'll switch plans, with all the money and time invested, along with complete and frustration at receiving no real assistance from corporate. It's unacceptable.

I have tons of service days - certainly did not need anymore, so I called TracFone & they don't seem to know what they are doing, took me forever & still didn't do it right. This is probably the 5th+ times I have had trouble. I have had a one of their phones for a couple of years now. I bought it with the triple plan. I have the apps that keep up with your minutes-data-text and they also send you messages to purchase minutes - plans and the app has the minute-text-data plans that they supply with the pricing. When you check out, it doesn't give you what you pay for. I called customer service the first time about it and they wouldn't refund it. I just purchase enough to keep the phone active for back up usage. I only did the 30 minutes plan that their app shows. It shows ON THE APP and says "Actual benefits 30 days service 90 minutes 90 texts and 90 MB of data" and it lets you check out that way. It doesn't give you any of that. The only thing you get is 30 minutes and 30 days.
The next month I renewed again. I bought the 19.99 plan which says it's the 60 minute airtime card .. It says on the app "ACTUAL BENEFITS 90 DAYS SERVICE, 180 MINUTES, 180 TEXTS, 180 MB of data" .. It cheats you out of those also. It only gives you the basic 60 minutes and 90 days. Those prices aren't competitive even if they gave you the actual benefits described in the ad but for them to only give you 30 minutes for $11.00 plus dollars and 22.00 plus dollars for 60 minutes and think that anyone would intentionally purchase at those ridiculous minute prices with all of the other much cheaper companies out there, well it's ridiculous. The only reason I kept it was for the phone and a back up.
Now they won't even do the right thing and give their customers what they pay for. They told me it was a "glitch" that they "smart phones can't get those benefits".. What kind of mess is that? You sold it to me. You let me check out. You are instructing your online people to steal from customers something that we bought in good faith and then when we call you on it, you refuse to give us our lousy minutes, text and data and put us through this? I even told them I was going to do it and they don't even care.
These companies don't care how they treat people these days. They just steal from consumers and then refuse to do the right thing because they know that there's little to no chance of us getting our money back without going through an act of Congress.. It's consumer - seller fraud and theft. If they're doing it to me over and over, I know they're doing it to other people. My own sister says they did it to her too. Why can't you just do the right thing when you make a mistake and give us what we pay for without us having to go through this? It's not like it's costing you anything but you are stealing from American consumers and you shouldn't get away with that. You've done it to me 2 times in 2 months.

A few years ago I gave this a good review. It is now necessary to amend it. Nowadays many companies require users to receive a "short code" as validation. You then use that code to validate that you and the phone number are the same. After being cut out of several sites because I didn't receive that "short code" I finally discovered the truth. TracFone does NOT support "short codes". I was required to get a new service. TracFone did not even see this as an uncomfortable problem for their customers. It was especially uncomfortable because I had just renewed my service for a year. It had to be tossed.

When I went to another company they said I had to get another SIM because mine was attached to the TracFone number, even though it could be ported to another company, which turned out to be nightmare. So I decided that i would simply get another number, which meant that TracFone would have to release my number. Let’s take a moment to talk about TRACFONE.... I purchased a phone for Steph in January from Walmart. Paid $100 that I don’t really have JUST so she could have something. (Most of her other family now lives out of state.) Problems came when I went to refill her texts. I had to call in February. To me, she still had texts left on her phone (she doesn’t use it much) and so I knew she still had about 100 of texts to use before she ran out. Suddenly, she couldn’t text. I called TRACFONE and at first they kept saying she used them all. I was transferred 3 times, till I reached someone who dug into her account further and found she still had 80 texts to use. I paid for an additional 1,000 texts. I was on the phone for 45 minutes.
Had to call again in March. She had no texts again when she should’ve had texts. Again on the phone for 45 minutes with them claiming she used her texts until I reached someone who looked into her account further and told me that she hadn’t. The man I spoke to was apologetic, and let me know TRACFONE is having issues with their computer system automatically voiding out airtime and text units.
Since Steph needed a phone, I paid at that point for additional 1,000 texts to be added on. (Shouldn’t have done it...) She probably used about 200 of those texts, then shut off her phone and didn’t use it again. Today I had to call to add airtime minutes. Added another 1,000 texts because she will be leaving for two months to see her grandma. The lady, again, told me she had no other texts. When she should’ve had 800 texts left to use. They refused to either reimburse me or put the texts on her phone. They won today, even after I asked for a supervisor. (Which she refused to send me to, claiming she was the only person I could talk to).
Since I already paid for the next few months so my daughter can contact me while she’s gone, I’m not discontinuing her service, but this is the last time I am ever paying for this phone. I am furious. Repeatedly they have tried to steal from me, and today they have successfully been able to. Please share this, to warn others about TRACFONE. They will steal from you, and have no problem doing it. I have no doubt in my mind that I am NOT the only one they are doing this to.

After paying a lot of money to Verizon for a dozen or more years, I decided to try TracFone with my Motorola Play Z Droid, a CDMA phone which can only use Verizon's cell towers. My coverage with TracFone has been identical to my being with Verizon because my CDMA phone uses the same Verizon towers. After a few weeks using TracFone, I switched my wife's Motorola Moto G6 (also CDMA) from Verizon to TracFone with the same great outcome. Our total monthly cost is less than one-third of what it had been. BTW, neither of us is a heavy data user. We each use less than .5G per month.
While I strongly endorse TracFone's cell service using CDMA devices and necessarily Verizon towers, I have no basis for evaluating using GSM devices and their use of non-Verizon towers. I would give TracFone 5 stars, but their chat and phone support need some improvement. Some of their reps are very hard to understand and need to learn to express themselves more clearly.

They insist she set up a password, but all she did was turn the phone on!
I Wanted to continue the conversation on my land line and call her on my cell to do a three way call and the tech support lady said she could only be on the line for 2 minutes. So, I guess I need to drive 900 miles to set up a cell phone or have her ship it to me so I can do a master reset because the call center can't stay on the line for 2 minutes??? I will pay more in postage than I paid for the phone and an 88 year old is without a phone for the two weeks that may take. VERY UNHAPPY with tech support!!

I bought an iphone at Target in Salt Lake City, Utah. It was a discounted phone because it was an older version (SE). I never used it as a cell phone. I then moved overseas and tried to use a SIM card but the phone was locked by Tracfone. I called tracfone and they tell me that the phone I bought required a 12 month contract with them (again news to me). I offered to purchase 12 months of service (that I would never be able to use since tracfone doesn't operate overseas), just to have them unlock my phone. They refused and told me that my concern has been addressed and hung up on me. Now I have a phone that I will never be able to use unless I move back to the US and use tracfone service for at least a YEAR.

They informed us the phone number my wife had gotten was deactivated and that we had to choose a new phone number and also forfeit previously accrued minutes. Working with the call center was frustrating. One representative hung up on me, another left the line open. Two first line representatives falsely claimed to be supervisors. No one could help, everyone was awful. An abomination against customer service.

I have been a TracFone user since about 2011 to current, 2019. I sent many people to them because I thought it was a good system. Now, however, I have had two long bouts with them. The first was when about a thousand minutes and almost two years of phone service time were transferred from my account and it was wiped out. They initially said "I'm sorry, we can't help you. We've given your phone number to someone else and you authorized the transfer". NOT! About 3 hours of talking and going up the line to corporate management I finally got all the minutes, data, text and service time back along with my original phone number. (Never give up). I see a review below that makes me think the larger accounts get hacked.
This week they have robbed me of minutes again, during a transfer of new minutes from a new card. Due to some mistake I did not make they erased over 350 of my original account minutes and docked me 13 more minutes to put the new minutes I just bought on my account. It's now about another 2 and a half hours of phone time again wasted, but I'm not done trying to get all the lost minutes back. I'm at 300 returned so far and only 63 to go. When my service time runs out I will be leaving TracFone and pointing others away from them, too.

I've had Tracfone for years. No problems until 5/23/19 when checking my account balance & discovered all zeroes! On Jan 19, 2019 I added a new prepaid card. Because I owned a triple min phone, my balance at that time showed all rollover min, and the new min. (6,10 gb data, 3874 min, 3584 texts). Purchased a new phone 4/24/19, activated through Tracfone, & my acct showed 3818 min, & 3239 texts.
Upon discovering my zero balances, called Tracfone, CS told me phone was deactivated! By who, I asked....they didn't know! Asked to have reactivated and minutes restored, they said, "Hold on. I have to check with another dept who has the authority to do that." When CS came back online, they said as a favor they would restore 3.0 gb data, 1533 min, & 3000 texts!!! Wait! What! They absolutely will not reinstate my minutes. How is this legal to take away my prepaid services?!! As soon as my contract is over and I use all the min they so kindly (lol) reinstated, I will NEVER USE TRACFONE again, Beware!!!

I've been a TracFone customer for over ten years now; and all is good as long as you keep buying into their plans. But if you need to make changes or add another phone, like in my case, you shall suffer. Any changes is asking for trouble.... so far without fail. I have spent, literally, over an hour on the phone with their supervisors or managers, no less...never mind a sales agent. I'll make this review short. I can hardly understand what they're saying. They have screwed up my account all of the time and it takes much convincing and arguing on my part to straighten things out.... But this time they have gone too far.
They have overturned my much cherished phone number and replaced it with a strange number that I never asked for. And it's taking them hours, until this very moment, and they still cannot correct their mistake. They are liars and have hung up on me again and again. They will sell you stuff and then offer you the service. What fools we are! They dare to keep you waiting and waiting and then hang up on you! I hate them. But I digress. I went in last night to purchase a 1 year plan, and immediately was notified that changes were being made at TracFone and I would have to purchase a new phone!! I am happy with my phone and the phones they currently are offering don't appear to be any better than my current. I have 4G service, and when I asked what update was taking place that required a new purchase, they wouldn't tell me specifically. Just "sorry for your inconvenience". How about giving me a free phone if you're really sorry? I don't have any issues with my phone. After conferring with their customer support, I selected an iphone being assured that the double minute plan I'd paid for would transfer to the new phone. It did not! I attempted to buy minutes and was told that as a new smart phone user, the minutes would triple. They did not. Supervisors simply told me that these plans didn't transfer to the phone I selected. What it doesn't explain is that some phones like mine do not qualify for this so I only received 400 minutes, 400 texts and 400 MB, a 1/3 of what is advertised. There isn't even an asterisk directing consumers to more information about exceptions. I spoke to an agent prior to purchasing this plan and he never mentioned my phones did not qualify. So $199.98 spent for only a 1/3 of the service provided. I asked to be switched to their $125 plan for 356 days that offers 1,500 minutes, 1,500 texts and 1.5 GB but they said no. I agree with some of the other comments – Tracfone is a good alternative to more expensive plans if you don’t use your phone much and just want to have a phone for emergencies and occasional use. However, I would like to caution user who may want a bit more out of their cell phone. I have been a Tracfone user for many years and have recently been one who wanted a little more out of their offered services. I have been travelling internationally and Tracfone does not offer any sort of international roaming plans.
This may be OK, but there is another catch. I’ve recently upgraded my phone to an iPhone 6s but have found that I should have not done this through Tracfone. The phone is locked and they are unwilling or unable to unlock the phone. They claim that this is some government regulation but whether that is the case or not, I wish that I would have just purchased an unlocked phone on my own and then had it activated through Tracfone. At least this way, when I travel outside the country, I would have the option to simply purchase a local international SIM card and then have a means to use my phone while on travel.
There are many places to buy unlocked phone – My recommendation is to buy a phone on your own and then if you're interested in activating it with Tracfone – do so separately. I now have 4 other older phones that were all purchased through Tracfone. They claimed that they cannot unlock them either being that they are now too old. Sounds like a catch-22 to me. I guess I will be in the market for a cheap travel phone on my own to use internationally. Live and learn! I hope this helps some of you avoid the issues that I have experienced.

I have been a TracFone customer for several years now and from my perspective, TracFone is only worth it for a select few people. During my first year of use with TracFone, it was beneficial due to my low call volume, few text messages, and non-existent use. I basically paid a little over $100 dollars per year for a phone that I used for a few text messages a day and some calls every once in a while.
Once I transitioned into using my phone a lot more due to more friends, more traveling, a long distance relationship, and more responsibilities it became an expensive and time-consuming. It costs $10 for 1 GB of data which I would use 2-3 per month so that's $20-$30 dollars, about a thousand texts per month which is another $5 dollars and a decent amount of minutes which divided out is another $5 dollars a month. In addition, service days are about $100 dollars for a whole year, which is about $10 dollars a month. Total that's about $50 dollars a month. Combine that with a data connection that would drop about 5-10 times on my 30-minute commute and having to wait anywhere from 1-6 hours for any data or minutes I bought to actually show up on my phone I would say that if you text, call, and use data more than a few times a day this service is not for you.

Me and my 3 friends were in USA for 3 weeks so we decided to buy a SIM cards from TracFone. Each $1 SIM kit which we bought contained 3 cards, AT&T compatible, T-Mobile and Verizon (which is probably CDMA). For the best coverage while traveling thru Arizona, Utah and Nevada I've decided to use AT&T compatible card.
I spent several hours on chat and phone trying to activate the service with credit card. We've tried a couple of credit and debit cards but this company can't charge from European cards. My suspicion is that they don't know about 3Dsecure but not everyone is using this security so probably more problems on the TracFone side. Lame!
After I've bought and used $15 activation coupon, the service was just partially working. Voice and SMS without problems but no data. I spent several hours on chat with another dumb operator. They are still asking irrelevant questions and ignoring all the facts. Our host in USA is using TracFone on AT&T compatible card for some time and I did a test with his card which was instantly working without further config in my phone and my card was not working in his phone where his card was working. I was telling this for a dozen times and telling his number also but operator was still asking me if I have 3G or LTE enabled, if my phone is unlocked, etc.
After next several hours I've decided to come with some solution (not TracFone), I've asked to move my service to another card but T-Mobile compatible. After that data has been accessible in a second. But outgoing SMS was not working anymore and on my Android tablet is not possible to dial so I wan't able to fix the SMSC number (BTW. Asking for that number on chat takes cca 30 minutes because operators are very ** and they are asking a many nonsense questions).
BTW. They said their data service is not working and is not supported on tablets. Lies, lame, stupidity, because it is normally working. I've asked for some extra data because of lot of problems and lost time they have caused to me but nothing ... They said "we have no record here about your issues". My friend which was also traveling with me decided to activate his SIM card too. The same problem, voice and SMS working, no data. We also did the same test with other SIM cards. We decided to lose $16 bugs and save our nerves because calling or chatting with brainless support not worth the time and nerves. The rest of friends declined to try it after this.
Beside this story ... You CAN'T activate/add more data without internet connection, in other words they are too stupid or lazy to configure the proxy and firewall to allow just the activation portal. So if one will run out of data the WiFi is all we trust in. Their portal and app itself is terrible, their support chat ... Operator is asking for everything even the phone number, why the application itself is not telling the phone number to the operator? At the end, they have no contract with ComNet so I was out of service in most locations. I'm traveling to different countries over the world and I never meet that ** service like this one.

I recently purchased a refurbished J3 Galaxy smartphone for my friend who is in a nursing home. There is a 90 day warranty on this phone - it was a refurbished phone. When we received it it would not work. We could not get past setting up the Gmail account. I called for their support and was walked through the same thing over and over again without any success. I asked for a supervisor, who did the exact same thing and I finally she said that the phone was defective. THEN they said that this phone was not eligible for replacement - I was not given any reason so I asked for a corporate person. After waiting, I was disconnected conveniently. I called back and asked again for a supervisor and got someone who was going to have me do the same thing that I had been doing for the past almost 2 hours! I said I wanted a reason this phone was not eligible and they could not give me an answer or would not give me an answer.
I have tried to call their office in Florida 305 513-4390 and there is no answer. If I call their other number 800 867 7183 I just get the same old menu and there is no customer service there. I am going to file a fraud claim to my credit card company so I will get my money back. I am also filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
This is my take on this particular thing: I bought the phone for my friend who is on the state program - TracFone is also the one who manages getting the numbers linked. Because this phone was going to my friend, even though I purchased it, they don't feel they have to honor any warranties. It was not a FREE phone. It was purchased by me. I am going to call the State of Illinois and file a complaint with their state aid department about this company. My friend is in a nursing home and she could never have done any of this without my help. She doesn't have the money to buy phones and the ones they provide she is unable to see the keys as she has eye problems. I would NEVER purchase a TracFone at Walmart or anywhere because I feel they are a bad business.

So, I tried to contact Tracfone Support using their Chat option, but was instead informed that they could not troubleshoot my problem because 'the system is not responding', and they gave me a number to call instead.
This is getting just STUPID now, I mean pretty much ANYTIME I try to get some help from their so called "Chat Support" line, there is always a problem, and I am given a number to call. This leads me to ask, 'WHY DO THEY EVEN PRETEND TO HAVE CHAT SUPPORT?' It seems that Chat Support is only there to give you phone numbers to call, instead of helping you fix an issue. So then, why not just cancel the Chat option completely, and just offer phone support number to call? I am one step away from getting rid of Tracfone as my carrier, because they are altogether too inept to help you with anything!
UPDATED 04/23/2019: I have recently purchased a new Android smartphone from TracFone, because they plan to discontinue service for older 2G phones, and I am seeking an unlimited data plan, for my new phone, but TracFone will not unlock the device until I am with them for 12 months.... This seems like it MUST be illegal, to hold someone's phone hostage for a years, before allowing them to change carriers. Every time I try to get some assistance with my phone over the Chat Support ('Support' yeah right), I am instead given a number to call, which is frustrating because I cannot seem to understand exactly what the Chat people do, besides providing numbers to call....
I want out of TracFone, mainly because they do not offer an unlimited data plan, and because their service/support is so sad, but as I said, I am trapped for a year unless I go out and buy a brand new smartphone.... HOW can they do this?? They will not even provide me a refund for the phone they sold me. That company, if you can call it that, is Draconian, and should not be allowed to stay in business. I have never seen another carrier that does that, forcing you to stay with them for 12 months before they will unlock your device.... I am okay with not being able to keep my current number/minutes really, but I want a way out, and there is none with TracFone. Once they have you, they do not let go. STAY AWAY from TracFone people, they are not only incompetent, but they are criminal in their practices!!
UPDATED 05/07/2019: I have written scathing reviews of TracFone previously, and my lack of love for this company continues still.... I checked my minutes balance this morning and it was 168 minutes / 647 MB data. Then about a half an hour ago, I made a phone call to a friend, she did not answer, and I was forced to leave a message. The phone call lasted 48 seconds total, and deducted 3 minutes from my balance, as well as 1.5 MB from my data. So now, after a 42 second phone call, I am left with 165 minutes / 645.5 MB data. I did not understand this as I thought data was not subtracted just to make a phone call, and they did not deduct a single minute from my minutes balance, which would have still been rounding up, but instead deducted 3 minutes??
So, just for stupid I guess, I tried contacting Tracfone 'Support', to ask about this. After explaining what happened, the obvious foreigner, with the ridiculous accent, responds that he checked my account and did not see the deductions, like I was lying for some reason, and that my account was active. I told him that I did not care what his screen was saying, there WERE deductions from my account, to which he just repeated the same thing again.

After two hours on the landline they finally got service restored, but I had to have a new number, lost about half of the accumulated minutes, but did restore prepaid time, with no reason for the termination given.
Two months ago we updated to a new ZTE Smart TracFone that included 1500 minutes and 1 year use. Transferred old number to new phone and ended up with 4000 minutes and 1.5 year of use time. We mainly carry the phone in the car for incidental, or emergency use so it doesn't get used a lot. Went to use it last week and we got terminated AGAIN!!! Checked TracFone online and was notified that SafeLink was terminated, online chat said call the hotline, hotline said call SafeLink, Safelink said they had no record of me and the number was now registered to someone else. I purchased a brand new phone, an LG Fiesta 2. It was charged to my credit card on 2/24/19. By 3/2/19 I contacted the Customer Service Rep (CSR) at 1-800-626-4883 ext. **. Note: All phone numbers for Tracfone eventually are forwarded to this number. The CSR agreed that my phone was "defective". They would send me an envelope, I was supposed to return my phone with all of its packaging in the envelope and they would replace it. It all was to take place in 3-5 days. I followed their instructions exactly and returned it on 3/6/19.
My phone's original price was $79.99 but since I bought a new Phone Plan at the same time I received a 25% discount and was able to buy it for $59.99. They did not send me a new phone; instead, they replaced my new phone with a "refurbished" phone that in the last month they have sold for $19.99 or $29.99 on their TracFone Store site. The price depends upon their specials.
I made a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I continued calling the phone number telling them that I wanted a new phone not a refurbished phone. The CSR(s) agreed that I am entitled to a new phone since mine was defective within fifteen (15) days. Three times they tried to send me a new phone but the order kept being changed to another refurbished phone being sent to me.
Finally, on 4/9/19, the Corporate Representative in reply to the BBB Complaint told me that I should have followed the instructions that were sent with my new phone, I should not have listened to the CSR who told me to return the phone for a replacement. I should have returned the defective phone and asked for a refund not a replacement. "ALL requests for replacements will be replaced with a "refurbished" phone no matter how many days the customer has it before it is found to be defective. A new phone will NEVER be replaced with a new phone even if it was found to be defective when it was received." Another important thing to know is: if you return a new phone that is found to be defective when you received it - they will "process" your refund which may take 30 days and not show up on your credit card for 1-2 cycles per information on the TracFone Store site.
Bottomline: Within seven days of purchase my brand new phone was determined to be defective by TracFone. I have received four refurbished phones and not a brand new phone to replace the one I purchased. I have not been able to use my phone for 36 days even though I have a paid 60 day plan. TracFone has not offered to reimburse my credit card for the defective phone nor the days on my plan - UNTIL - I return the phones they never should have sent to me. As soon as they get them - they will "process" a refund. How many more days do I need to go through before I receive my refund credit and am able to purchase another phone and finally have cell service? Another 30-60 days?

Then I tried the online chat, and was met twice with ignorant and apathetic people who clearly did care if I had a problem. I tried one more phone, and then suddenly my account, with over a year of service, thousands of text, nine-hundred minutes, and over a gig of data left, "disappeared". No way to get that back, even though I purchased all of this through their website, where there's a record of it. They didn't care, all apathy again. We've had Tracfone for years and every time minutes needed to be added it has been a nightmare. Yes, I have a flip phone and they really don't provide service for that anymore (although this has been the same for about 8 years). Tried to activate a new Tracfone smartphone but you have to call them even though they say you can do it online. Got the phone and spent over 4 hours on the phone trying to deactivate my old phone and activate the new one. Finally they figured out the new one was no good and we had to send it back, of course the old phone is now deactivated and won't work either.
Received the new phone and tried online to activate. "Do you want to keep the old number?" Yes. "Then enter your previous carrier." Use the pull down screen and Tracfone is not listed! How **! Try to use the online chat and move the cursor over it but the online chat icon is not active - once again how **! If you're going to offer online chat then it should be active or you're really not offering it in the first place. Overall their customer service when calling them is going to take at least one hour to add minutes or get help. Overall rating a minus 10 on a scale of 0-10 with 0 being the worst. They SUCK!!!!

I have had Verizon for years. When I found myself in the market for new cell phone, I decided to look outside the box. Wow, I am so glad I did! I bought my own phone, found a bargain on Moto G5plus Gold that I love. I tried TracFone for a month (no contract), and was so happy with it that I bought the 1 year plan. A one time payment on my phone and then a one time payment on my service for the year. I'm done, no monthly payments, yay :). When you do the math and you realize this saves SO much money. And I don't feel like I'm losing out on anything - except the high monthly bill that I never understood. The customer service, both online and by phone, is great. The reception when talking on the phone is exceptional. Texting, etc... all works perfect.

I got a TracFone for Christmas to replace my old one. They put the air time and minutes on the old phone. The new phone was defective and will update the same update over and over again. I contacted customer service for about 2 weeks with this problem until finally they offered to replace the phone but I would have to send it back to them before I got the working phone. Dealing with these people is an absolute nightmare and honestly I don't recommend getting service through TracFone because if anything goes wrong it's not their problem.

I have used TracFone for at least 5 years, historically using an LG phone. Service was fair, contacting help on TracFone was a joke. I recently upgraded to iPhone7 via TracFone website. The phone is great but service via TracFone not up to par with this phone. So, my son had an extra T-Mobile chip (unlimited data, text, phone) for basically free. Contacted TracFone to unlock phone (no service plan, of course, phone was paid for, 2000 phone minutes and 4000 texts) left, but the idiots won’t unlock it so that I can switch providers because I didn’t have the phone for 12 months. Really, although I spent lots on TracFone the previous 6 years AND my wife is currently a TracFone LG phone user. Well, not for long!!
If they allowed me to switch, they still have all the money I am going to spend, yet they have to be ** and not allow a switch for 6 months, even though they are allowed at any time to change the basis for their unlock policy. Pointing that subtle fact to them had no effect, but I hope many people dump them or choose other carriers based on my unhappy experience.

I contact customer service and bought $20 2G airtime. One day, I need GPS navigation, and there is no internet, so I check the airtime balance, the balance is zero. How it‘s gone so quick without use? I feel so weird. I contacted customer service, and to ask why? The answer is I have to turn off the “mobile network” button if not use. So I turned off the ”mobile network” button, and bought $20 2G airtime again, I‘m paying attention at this time. Tracfone did release my cell phone number, but only after I filed a complaint with the FCC > Better Business Bureau in their Corporate office hometown > I wrote a review for a TV station here where I live, > I asked others on Twitter about their TracFone treatment > I documented every email, letter, phone call to whomever, even Consumeraffairs > I contacted WalMart complaint dept. the store where I purchased my TracFone cell and PrePaid cards. I made a list of every store that sells TracFones anything, where I reside, and I made BIG list for the entire USA > which is very easy to do, because TracFone has 'Find A Store"; enter your Zipcode and it will give you every store in 'your' Zipcode. On 3/25/2019, I received an apology from their Miami Corporate Office.
Don't forget, keep a copy of everything!
Original Review: I have read online that hundreds of TracFone customers were unable to Port their number away from TracFone to another Provider because TracFone customer service did not give them the correct account number or Rejected the verified acct info they provided. Is this the way they treat customers that want to leave? I would not recommend this company for your Cell Phone needs.
Customer service does not know what your cell phone account number is, neither will they verify the information you give them, nor will they expedite the Porting of your number. Simply because they want you to keep on dragging out the time it takes to Port the number so that you can run out of minutes and have to pay again and again while the process is going on. They have no problem Porting your number in and setting up your account. Even if the Ported number was yours originally. They will try to make you stay by holding on to your original number. I will never use this company again or any of their Affiliates. So, Buyer, Beware!!

I ported my number to TracFone years ago from Verizon. I wanted to port from TracFone to Google Fi and they have made it impossible. TracFone is so stupid that they don't know the account number required for them to accept a port request. Over the past few months, they have supplied at least ten account numbers that I supplied to Google Fi, and then TracFone refuses the port request. You read that right, Tracfone refused the account numbers they supplied me for the purpose. They will not open a ticket because they only open tickets with a successful port request. They absolutely refuse to let my number go. It's heartbreaking because it is the number my mentally impaired husband uses and remembers, and we are going to lose it. I will never do business with them again. Incompetent and unethical. Do not port a number you wish to keep forever to TracFone - you can check out, but you can never leave!

So I tried to call the company to just get my minutes that I paid for but they stated sorry the minutes you purchased was for a smartphone so basically, I am sorry. The supervisor told me, "You just basically gave us your money for free."
I didn't get any minutes nor my money back. I did understand about the non refund policy. But I thought it was very unprofessional of a company to not give a customer nothing and have their money. On 3/7/2018 my old TracFone crapped out on me. So I bought a ZTE model direct from TracFone. I transferred my old minutes, with which I had purchased many years ago, Double Minutes for Life. I believe the last time one of their phones crapped out on me, which has happened a lot, although I have never sought an RMA, I inquired if my Double Minutes for Life transferred with my minutes to my new phone, and I was told they would. I intentionally bought a year's activation card sometime in fall 2018, just so it didn't get deactivated at an inopportune time. The last time I bought a minutes card, they denied my Double Minutes, stating that Double Minutes did not apply to the particular minutes card I had purchased on their website.
They ain't gonna honor my Double Minutes, I ain't gonna keep their phone. So, I chose to go with another carrier, even though my phone was active through 5/22/2019, and still had 400 minutes left on it. I called in February 2019 seeking an unlock code for my phone that I paid for, and I was told that I had to own the phone for a full year. I call back on 3/11/2019, 369 days after I bought my phone, and they told me I had to have a year's service on the phone to get an unlock code. I told them I did have a year's service on my phone, I had my phone for 369 days in fact. They said I only had 60 days service on my phone?? It took several phone calls to Sri Lanka or wherever to hell to understand that they meant I had to have bought a year's worth of minutes, to unlock my phone, and they wanted to extort a year's worth of minutes, just to unlock their cheap two dollar phone.
I tried a chat session on their website, and he put up their legalise blurb to contact, get this, one of their Fraud Specialists. That's what they call their unlock customer service representatives, FRAUD SPECIALISTS. I asked their chat rep who they were calling a fraud. When I called their unlock hot line, I asked their rep who was supposed to be committing fraud, TracFoney or their customers, for wanting to use their own phones as they chose?
Now hold on sister. The big selling point of TracFoney is the right to use your phone that you buy, as much as you want, when you want, and to buy minutes as you use them, not as some pushy phone company demands you use them. I've been a TracFoney customer for ten damn years. I bought myself a phone, several phones, as they routinely crapped out on me. I bought my wife TracFoneys, I bought my kid TracFoneys. I paid for their damn minutes. I bought activation cards to keep them active just to satisfy the fraudulent demands of what was supposed to be a pay as you go, pay as you please phone service. They decided my Double Minutes didn't apply as they said they would, they decided I wasn't using my phone to meet their extortion demands, and, AND I couldn't use my phone to meet my needs.
When I got through complaining about their crappy service, which to be honest was always spotty at best, and pushy demands, they deactivated my phone on 3/11/2019. How do y'all feel about TracFoney calling their unlock reps: Fraud Specialists? It is high time the FCC pulled TracFoney's license to operate in the U.S. and rescind the licenses of their parent and subsidiaries.

When it first came I tried to activate and after an hour with TracFone they said call back their system was down. I called back a few days later and after four more attempts at the automatic activation it still wouldn't activate. So, I finally get a representative who spoke broken English and he tried to activate it - another hour on the phone with him. I tried again a few days later with another representative and now the phone says no sim card.
Well there is a sim card in the phone when it arrived from TracFone but it wasn't working. They made me buy another sim card and had to wait days more for it to arrive. The phone still said no sim card. After several more attempts to activate it with the robot I finally got another representative. Another hour with him trying to download a software update, to factory reinstall, etc. All to no avail. He then transfers me to a specialist. Another hour with her and she finally tells me that there is no software update available for this phone and that she will have the provider call me today to see what they are going to do about it. No call from them.
I called back again and they make me go through another hour of trying to get it to work for the sixth time in four days. Then they transfer me to a supervisor who also makes me go through the whole process again. Then I tell them I want another phone but a different model. They said they can't do that but will send me another one just like I have now. I looked at the reviews and there are six one star reviews in the last month that all say the same thing. The phone will not connect to the carrier and they can't make calls. So I ask for their supervisor at billing and they said their supervisor does not take calls after six, to call back tomorrow.
All they will do for me is send me another phone of the same model that doesn't work. They are selling a phone that they know is not usable on TracFone. They make you go through weeks of aggravation and I haven't had a cell phone now for the three weeks since I got this phone. When my bank notified me that my credit card was compromised and they were sending a new one, I called TracFone with the new number. The rep assured me it was noted and they would use it for the next billing. Feb 25th. I noticed the days update did not appear as scheduled. I called March 5th and spoke to some one with an accent.
He said my card, (old number), could not be charged and they cancelled my plan. I would have to repurchase and add more minutes to my account. I have 577 minutes. I asked for a Supervisor whose name sounded like Greg. He did not listen to my complaint but only repeated over and over again, that I would have to purchase the plan again along with more minutes. Be aware of TracFone's "warranty" policy. I know from experience that if you have an LG product and should happen to need warranty service or repair during the original one-year manufacturer's warranty period, you will end up getting a refurb phone back from TracFone that comes with a 90-day warranty attached. It doesn't matter how much of your manufacturer's warranty year may be left, you will end up with 90-days. Not only is this completely unethical and immoral, it can't possibly be legal. I sent them a 2-month old phone and now I'm stuck with a refurb that is only warranted for 90-days. TracFone's customer service is useless, they just tell you "that's our policy, sorry there's nothing else I can do."
I've contacted LG about this issue, but it appears they are completely complicit with this scam and don't really care that consumers with their product are getting ripped off. They just cite "an agreement" with TracFone and defer to them. I believe Apple handles their own warranty in-house, and I don't know if Motorola or Samsung or any other brands would be more protective of their consumers with this issue or not, but I would definitely steer clear of LG products with TracFone.

Once I received it I switched everything from my broken phone to the very same model (refurbished J7 Sky Pro). All my contacts, pics and apps switched just fine. But the phone wouldn't make or receive calls or texts. Contacted tech support 4 days ago. Nothing. They tried solved the issue. Spent over 6 hrs online chat and phone with them. They even factory reset my phone...losing all my contacts, pics, apps...which I was willing to do, if in the end my phone would work...but it does not.
They have had me turning it off and on more than 2 dozen times, removing and reinstalling sim, etc. Nothing is working. Then they said take card out for 30 min and they will call back. Waited over an hour and they never called back. Got a new person when I called them back again. Began same idiotic process all over again. Not to mention half of the tech people I had to speak with barely spoke English. How hard would it be for them to send me a new phone and sim and start the crap over? This is insanity.
This is a Saturday and I've been on the phone and or waiting by the phone for them for almost 4 hours. Not how I want to spend my day off. This should not happen. This is the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. I have been a customer of TracFone for sooo many years and there have been hiccups along the way for sure...but this is by far the most ridiculous crap I have ever dealt with. They need to change how they deal with these issues...as passing me alone to 5 different techs, all following the same canned speech and "fixes" are totally not working at all. Turning ** off and on over 400 times isn't fixing a thing.

I have been a customer since June 2018 and established auto pay in August. No problems until Jan. 2019 when I received notice that my activation would expire yesterday. I called and they had no record of me being on auto pay so made a one time payment with my debit card. Today I received an email that my service was deactivated because my bank declined payment.
I called my bank and they said they did not receive a payment request so they did not decline any payments. The rep I talked to yesterday said they were having system problems so it is logical that they made an error. I had to reconnect through their call center this morning which meant they treated me as a new customer. I had to pay the higher price and they could not re-enroll me on auto pay until the end of the month. Their service reps are very unhelpful with solving problems or answering questions so I went to their website to chat online with management and they were equally unhelpful.

They "lost" or "can't see" my transactions in total amount of $113.72 (950 minutes, 1500 texts, and 2.5Gb of data). I can see these transactions in my account on their website in "history of payments", and also in my bank statements, but they "can't". Imagine you paid $250 for service. You are asking to transfer that service from one phone number to another (your carrier claims that they'll do this no problem and for free). However, only about half of that service transferred, another half is gone. They can't find records, that you paid $250 in the first place.
Manager Jorje ** claimed that "it's impossible to fill up benefits partially" while transferring them from one phone to another. Yet their system did fail. Yet about half of the "benefits" (the $113.72) lost during the transfer. I spend 6+ hours trying to reason with them, telling them that $250 is $250, not $125. When I asked Jorje ** of a contact information of somebody in the company who is accountable for issues/errors like this, he said that he IS the highest person in the company. There is no one above him. When I asked what I have to do he said "I understand your concern".

I thought activating my new TracFone was going to be a simple process since this is what I was told by the Walmart associate which assisted me in selecting a phone and carrier. This could be the farthest from the truth. TracFone was unable to activate and provided me with 3 options to try an navigate a process to get it activated. One of the options was to return to the store and have them re-scan the package. The second option was to take pictures and email verification to them. I don't recall the third option.
I opted to email my proof of purchase and serial numbers etc. 1st problem, the service rep did not provide me with an accurate email and ALL the requirements needed. I had to call back to get the accurate email and info. Once I took my photos and emailed everything, it took 2 days to get a reply only telling me I was missing info. I sent it again, they came back 24 hours later to tell me I am still missing info. This time they said they needed the serial number photo from the setting of the phone. This was the first I heard of this. I had provided them the serial number on the red card that comes with the phone, but now 2 phone calls in, and 3 emails later, I am finding out they need more detail.
It doesn't help that NONE of the representative speak fluent, unbroken English, thus making communication nearly impossible. Their reps do not care about you, the consumer. It is my belief they go out of their way to inconvenience their customers and make doing business with them a total nightmare. I should note this was my second TracFone I purchased and similar experiences were encountered on both occasions - 3 years apart.

I use my TracFone when travelling in the United States from Canada a couple of times a year. I pay a yearly contract then add International calling minutes and data when needed. On October 28th, 2018 I had over 900 minutes of international calling available. On October 30th I had none and did not make any phone calls. We contacted a representative and we were on the phone for over 90 minutes trying to sort it out. We ended up buying another International calling card and chalked it up to a glitch in the system as we were getting absolutely nowhere with the representative. International calling minutes were once again topped up and we were good to go.
I made a couple of calls to Canada on October 31st prior to crossing the border and arriving home. The phone was shut off and put away awaiting our next trip. We went south this weekend and I went to make a call to Canada and had 30 seconds of international calling time available. This was super confusing since we had topped it up on the 30th of October prior to returning home. I called customer service and was on the phone for over 3 hours trying to sort this situation out being passed from pillar to post with no one really caring about what my problem was. Finally, I was told to call back the next day when the "supervisors" were in the office to assist me. What they did tell me was that my International calling minutes were used up when I called the Mali Republic on November 3rd. I told them that this was an impossibility because the phone was turned off and I was back in Canada as of the 31st of October.
I called back to the office the next day and was on the phone for over an hour explaining my situation and at the end of it all was told that they couldn't help me and that I should report this to the police. The "supervisor" then hung up on me and said there was nothing they could do! All I wanted them to explain to me was how my International minutes could disappear twice for calls that I didn't make. I reviewed my calling log on my phone and the last call made was October 31st. I explained this to the representative who said that I was wrong. The last call I made was on the 3rd of November to the Mali Republic and that is where I used up all my calling time. I have now googled Mali Republic... It is in Africa. I have no relatives or friends living in Mali. This company is so shady it is incredible that they are still able to operate!

I asked if I could transfer the phone number from the 600 min. phone to my new phone. No problem, switched over, although nobody told me the older phone would now be deactivated and I would lose the 600 min. But wait! There’s more! For $25 you get only 500 minutes, 1000 texts and a measly 500mb of data! Shop around. You can even get unlimited everything including data without throttled speeds for $35 a month. On 12/11/18, I purchased a gig of data for my phone. By 12/20, it still had not appeared on my account. I chatted with a very rude and condescending agent but he asked for the transaction ID and at the time, I was on my phone waiting to pick up my granddaughter so I told him I’d have to try again. When I got home, I chatted with a guy named Nestor. He was much nicer but not much help either. He was difficult to understand but said I had to give them 24 hours to ‘update’ their system. I was to contact them again after the 24 hours and they would manually add the gig.
I called in today approximately 26 hours later and spoke with a woman. I was unable to get her name as she had an accent and I couldn’t understand the name she gave. She said she was doing some calculations and checking daily use and stuff. Went off to talk to her supervisor, came back and did some more calculations and checking and then told me there was no way to prove what my balance was before the purchase so there was nothing she could do. Ok, so what calculations and checking was she doing? If she was looking at my daily usage, why can’t she see that I had a little over a gig on 12/10 and still have a little less than a gig on 12/21 therefore the gig I bought on 12/11 was never added!
What really makes me the angriest, though, is that I had proof and deleted it. I have had a ton of trouble with their app. When I try to check my balances to see when I need to buy, I keep getting stuff about how it’s taking too long to get it and I should try again later. So although I can’t say for sure when it was, within a week or two before my purchase, I texted for my balance to 611611. I saw I was getting low (low to me would be below 1 gig) and resolved to make a purchase soon. Unfortunately, after I made the purchase, I deleted the text.
There needs to be a different way of doing these purchases from the web. There should be an actual redemption step. Or it should show up immediately. Or a counter that takes inventory of where you are when you make a purchase so both sides can prove their point because, believe me, it is 100% possible to make a purchase and not have it show up on your account automatically. On other purchases, it has taken quite a bit for it to show up which is why it took me so long to contact them. I kept waiting for it to show up automatically... like it's supposed to.
I’m a senior on a fixed income which is why I use TracFone, so this $10 loss is a big deal to me. I prefer buying from the website because I also use Ebates and can get a little cash back but going forward, I guess my only alternative is going thru the hassle of buying a card from the store so I have proof you messed up. Or maybe switching carriers altogether.

Every time you call it is a new hoop to jump through. Service, knowledge and help rate a zero. I would dump Tracfone but I have over 2,089 minutes, etc. built up over several years that I don’t want to lose on my iPhone 5s. Here is my experience: Bought a new iPhone 7 with service from Xfinity Mobile. I had the Tracfone iPhone 5 number ported over. Was told by Tracfone just call after port done and a new number would be assigned. Called TF for a new number and was told they could not do that with the current “5” phone’s sim card. They would instead send me a new card.
Got the card days later, installed and called TF for the promised new telephone number. They kept having problems with the process on their end. Then they said the sim card they sent me wouldn’t work and to go purchase a $10.00 sim card kit at Walmart. Did that and now they want a service minute card to activate. I told them I had done that 5 days ago with their wrong sim card. They claim they have no knowledge of that credit transaction. Told them I would dispute the credit charge in question if I get double billed for a service card.
Next the service card to activate would be a $15.00 card for only 30 days, not the 90 days with the basic $19.00 card. They would not reactivate the “5” phone and would end the call unless I purchased the 30 day card right now. I could go about all the time getting back my 2,089 minutes, 2,450 texts and 2.32 GB that required hours that they then said it was impossible because they deleted on the old sim that they deactivated. I told them I want those minutes as promised and I wasn’t putting up with “it's not possible.” Then they put me on hold again for half an hour, but came back would add just 2,000 minutes.
Next on their app it shows a telephone number I never had and none of the 2,000 minutes. Call again. They said it needs to be changed and another 25 minutes on the phone for them to get the correct phone number installed. What a bunch of crooks just to get a new number for the “5” phone. Tracfone is a bully company that lies as they jerk you around for hours. They are as truthful and dishonest as Trump. You have been warned! PS: I’m just now decided nuts to TF and the minutes accumulated. Just going to buy a different phone and include an additional line with Xfinity and be done with TF for good!

Waste of time and money - Unfortunately I learned the hard way. TracFone has terrible customer service. I had the plan for two months and never had voicemail. I wasted many hours with chat and voice help - all the while TracFone was draining my minutes and data from the plan I paid for. Voicemail was never able to be fixed. I asked for a credit to my account then spent a few more hours on hold and chat since I was told by three different customer reps to call a different number to get a refund. In the end, they said, "We do NOT issue refunds or credits" but you can be sure they subtracted my voice minutes and data that I wasted contacting their customer service.
Also I have a feeling they are not being honorable with voice minutes as they would often slowly leak from my account without calls being made. Unlike other carriers there is no detailed accounting of calls, texts and data usage. It seems like they use this to their advantage. Finally I was either really really stupid or they set up a plan to try and trick people - I purchased an extremely expensive yearly plan and found out in short order that the minutes were not renewed monthly for a year. I am a fairly savvy tech user so am certain seniors would easily get tricked by this. Very shady. I have moved on to Unreal Mobile. Their system is very detailed but easy to use. Began receiving non stop ringless voicemails on my TracFone. No message, just a beep. As soon as I would delete one another would come within 15 minutes. This went on for days to the point I wanted to smash the phone because of the aggravation and cost. Called TF customer service and told them I wanted to deactivate my voicemail. The first rep I talked to kept me on hold for 1/2 hr and at the end she told me it was now deactivated. The voicemail was not deactivated, but this idiot changed my password so I couldn't even access the still active voicemail.
I called two more times, both times I was told they had successfully deactivated my voicemail and that someone calling my number would hear the message "the subscriber has not set up a voicemail account." It never worked. All this burned up about an hour of my time, ruined my afternoon and left me really pissed off. Either these people have very poor training or purposely like to ** with customers because they hate their low paying jobs and hate Americans. Done with TracFone.

I bought the prepaid phone card which even after activating the card did not work. I called customer service 4 days consecutively to get them to fix the problem. Each time they said the problem was fixed but after an hour the card would stop working again. On the 5th day I called to cancel the service and get a refund. They deactivated the service but refused to give me a refund even though I had not been able to use the card even once to make calls. The WORST customer service experience ever.

TracFone LG/Alcatel quit working after about 40 days. We are 6 months into 1-year plan, and have no idea if the phone replaced actually works. This is about the incredibly poor phone service - not unkind, but completely erroneous notes on account. We finally got a ticket # to return phone. 2-1/2 months later, we called to find out what was going on. TracFone personnel couldn't recognize our phone number, finally using the ticket # to discover that the replacement phone had been sent to unrelated name and address! No refund on service paid for, even though transferred me to "corporate" and to "refund" dept. I suspect these "depts." are not any different, from the lack of information and authority of each person I spoke with.
About a week later, I received an empty box with air bill, to ship our broken phone! Since the broken phone was sent and received on 8-7-18, my phone call on 10-16-18 (with 7 different people) was all about receiving a replacement phone, not sending in a phone! I was transferred to 4 different people, and each time I had to repeat my story and information - additionally annoying!
Received replacement phone on 10-26-18 (which should've been sent sometime in August). So the follow-up email that "...the make/model of the device returned, is not available in our inventory to be shipped..." and "At this time we are shipping a comparable device..." reveals the lack of departmental communication that began this incompetent transaction that failed to send a replacement phone in August 2018! We have no trust or further desire to activate the replacement phone received on 10-26 (nor certainly a second replacement phone received!), and only desire to be rid of this contract by means of refund of 8 months of unused credit.

First, constantly ran out of minutes every month even after buying 1,000 minutes. I think the company is charging two or three times the minutes actually used. Second, on two occasions I submitted a credit card with the wrong address and the credit card was initially declined so I tried a second credit card which went through. Only to find out a day later the first charge went through as well. I called customer service to complain and get a refund on the second card and on the first time I called the customer service agent put me on hold and after 20 minutes I hung up.
I called back an hour later and the customer service agent put me on hold again and I waited patiently and unexpectedly got the "we are closed, call back during business hours" message. I called back the next day and demanded to speak to a supervisor. I demanded a refund and complained about the customer service I received. The lady said a refund would be issued and I demanded a refund for the first card purchase for the rude manner I had been treated in. The lady said, "We don't refund on minutes once they are purchased," and hung up. Needless to say I moved to another cell company. Do NOT do business with TracFone. The minutes you purchase will mysteriously disappear rapidly and if you ask for a refund you will be placed on permanent hold. Terrible customer service and fraudulent service.

I’m going to try and make this short! I bought a TracFone this past February and NEVER activated or used the phone. The only reason I bought the phone was for my mom when she goes to Thailand. Well the other day, I take the phone out of the packaging to get ready to activate it. I type in the IMEI number and then scratch the card with 200 minutes for the pin and it says the SIM card is deactivated. So I called TracFone on 11/09/2018 and I speak to a female representative and explain the situation. She tells me that the phone was activated and that the minutes were gone because the phone was deactivated after 30 days. I then asked, what was the phone number and no one activated the phone because I have T-Mobile. She keeps repeating the same thing over and over! I then asked for a male manager ID **. He then repeats the same thing as her and I keep explaining my situation.
So we finally got to a resolution that he said he would credit me the 200 minutes and send me a new SIM card. So FedEx calls today to try to deliver the package, but they didn’t put the apt. number after this was already verified. So back and forth with FedEx and TracFone for about 4 hours today. Got another male representative and he took 28 minutes to figure out that he had to resend another SIM card. I asked to speak to another manager because that doesn’t make sense to send another SIM card instead of contacting FedEx to just add the apt. He says, "We can’t do it like that!" Then he asks why they were sending the SIM card? I explained the same thing and he wants to debate! I couldn’t get inside the phone without a pin that he had to give me. Then I ask about my minutes and he asks me for a confirmation number.
I asked him to listen to the previous phone call and gave that manager’s ID number listed above. He refused, so now to the next manager! I explain everything and then some about the situation, and this lady tells me that they’re not charity and if I couldn’t afford the minutes! I cut her off quick and told her, "Don’t put words in my mouth," and that they can keep their piece of ** phone. I then asked for her name 3 times and she hung up! So beware when dealing with these companies that can barely speak English or pronounce their names! They’re legally scamming people here!!

I'm in my 70's, doing great, but never have had a need for a cell phone except when on vacation or perhaps an emergency. About six weeks ago I decided I'd better charge the phone. A pop up appeared on the LG phone saying that the 2G phone I had (which I bought new a year ago and used about twice), would no longer work in my area.
So I purchased a refurbished Samsung Sky Pro 7. It came and I spent almost 40 minutes with a Tracfone Rep trying to get it going, removing the battery, resetting a few times. The rep concluded I should send it back and gave me an address to send it to. I had to pay $7.45 to sent back a dud phone. I made it clear to the rep that I did not want a replacement. But not only did a prepaid FedEx envelope show up a few days later after I had already sent off the first dud phone, I then received a replacement phone (#2) a few days later.
Again, after over 40 minutes trying to activate it, the rep said to send it back. This time I requested a prepaid envelope and received one. Then I received the THIRD Samsung SkyPro 7. This time it took from 4:35 pm to 7 pm until the customer rep determined that I should send this dud back as well. I asked for a prepaid envelope and said I would not be replacing the phone (no more Tracfone for me) but she said that if I was not replacing the phone that I would have to pay for sending it back. (!) So I paid $7.20 this time and send it back. I made it very clear I did not want a replacement phone and I also included in the package sending back the phone dud #3 that "I do not want a replacement - just please, oh please just refund me what I paid." I'm afraid I also mentioned that I had never had to pay to be tortured before.
So that was three days ago. This morning a box arrives from FedEx with a prepaid envelope to send dud phone #3 back that I have already sent back. So your prayers are welcome that I will not receive another phone from this company and will be refunded what I paid. I am now convinced that what I really need is just a burner phone for emergencies. I just know you good people reading this wish me all the luck in the world. :)

This caller ID was a totally strange name and included a location that had nothing to do with where I live. I spend hours upon hours on chat and phone with the TracFone company. Their answers were ridiculous; 3 times they advised me that I have to take that issue up with my landline provider.
Finally I had been transferred apparently to the highest department in their business and the person just simply told me, that that happens because.... blah, blah, blah and that there is nothing they can do about it. I'm now stuck with this wrong caller ID and the only way out is to buy a new phone number and minutes. But since this is an unlocked phone I will go to another provider. I only purchased this phone to use while my other phone was being repaired with Samsung, so swapping it out would be pointless with the time it would have taken with shipping. We've used Tracfone for many years. My daughter's Rebel LTE got a cracked screen so we took a chance on a refurbished Rebel 3, purchased on Tracfone's site. Problem 1: The rep told me that the 2 day FedEx does not deliver on Saturday & you have to sign for it. Knowing that nobody would be home Monday during the day to sign for it, I had them ship it to my work. However, then I got an email with the delivery date: Saturday!!! Well nobody would be at my office Saturday, so instead of being able to have the phone Saturday (If the rep had known what she was talking about) or even Monday, they attempted delivery on Sat and then said they wouldn't be back til Tues! And you can't change the deliver address once it's ordered. So we get the phone and it has issues almost immediately. Screen won't turn on until you try multiple times.
Then it shows a weird black and white stripe on the left side of the screen and nothing else. So I called Tracfone for a return label. Told them I wanted it emailed to me instead of mailed (who mails a return shipping label anymore?) They said no problem. 2 DAYS LATER I get an email stating my airbill will arrive via FedEx 2 days after that! Why FedEx instead of email? I call again. Supervisor gets involved and assures me they will reissue a return label and send it via email. This was yesterday.
Today I get ANOTHER email telling me when FedEx is going to deliver the airbill. I call again. The supervisor tells me both previous reps "tried" to request an emailed label but it didn't work. How does it "not work?" The computer just says nope? At this point, I'm just going to wait until the airbill arrives tomorrow. And then we have to wait for the phone to arrive to Tracfone. And then they have to see if they even HAVE a replacement Rebel 3 (the website currently shows unavailable... awesome). If not, we get some random substitute phone. Tracfone is great when everything works properly. When you have to get customer service involved, you might as well give up before you even call.

I'm on hold now so she can do who-knows-what but she keeps coming back to tell me she needs another two minutes. She's returned to the phone to tell me she needs another additional two minutes at least five times now. Not sure what she needs to do. I haven't given her my address yet. When I asked her whether they would extend the expiration date on the minutes purchased she said 'no.' Does that sound fair to you? You'd think that would be an easy thing to do, right, especially since my mother won't be able to use it (for emergencies). Even though I have bee a customer for 10 years and they issued me a replacement phone, I cannot get this phone unlocked because it (the new phone not my account) has been active for only 234 days of service. Their policy states you need 365 days before they will unlock the phone.

I was in the market to purchase a new phone, one that's capable of using wifi calling. I researched phones talked to at least 3 different customer service staff asking them specific questions related to an iPhone I was interested in. I asked each one, is this phone capable of wifi calling. I was told each time, "Purchase it, activate it, check your network, if it's not a T-Mobile network we can send you a T-Mobile Sim card. Insert it and you will be set to use wifi calling." Wrong! Purchased the phone, activated it this morning, spoke with Tracfone asking about my network, I was told this phone is not capable of wifi calling. They offered me nothing, only, "Sorry just can just return it."
I tried to post a review on Tracfone site related to my experience with this phone detailing that I asked numerous times and being very specific about what I needed in a phone. My review was denied probably because I said Tracfone customer service needs to know what a phone can and can't do instead of telling customers a blanket, "Yes of course you can change your network," when in fact I couldn't. I returned that phone earlier today. I will go with a different provider. I don't have any faith that I can ask questions and receive correct guidance.
I relayed to Tracfone today. I even took screenshots of my last conservation knowing I might miss a step. All I was offered from them, sorry. I don't make purchases like this without making sure the phone I want will be able to work as I need it too. And then Tracfone tells me, "Sorry here's a number you can call, nothing we can help you with." Called that number, told, "Sorry again, you can return the phone. That's all we can do for you."

I live overseas, and when returning to the US previously used a TracFone for local calls. It is expensive, but fairly convenient. Last trip back (2017) they said the actual phone was no longer supported, and sent me a new one. We loaded it up with minutes, but despite spending an hour on the helpline with them it never got working. Now I don't have a lot of time to spend ** around with a stupid prepaid handphone, so I left the US without getting it working, despite the fact that the phone now had 240 minutes on it. This year (2018) I get back and they say I need a new sim card, which I get, and re-up another 60 minutes of credit, only to find that my previous 240 minutes were deleted. Subsequently I spent over 2 hours on the phone with heir "helpline" explaining that I could not use the previous credit (as the phone never got working) so it should be refunded, or rolled over.
Their line is that it is their "corporate policy" is to NEVER REFUND ANYTHING. Even after talking to everyone in their Philippines call center, then later in the Honduras call center (still using Filipinos) and then (allegedly) Miami, the answer is "Yes we can see that you bought credit in 2017 and were never able to use it, but our policy is that because it is more than 60 day, we erase all your credit". Now I don't know for certain, but I am convinced that they also try to drag out as long as possible and "helpline" interactions, so the customers just give up in the end. This is a similar approach insurance companies take: all claims are denied upon the first submission regardless of validity, as many clients simply give up. I was even told that the 10$ spent the previous day to get the new sim running could not be refunded.
A few strong words and 2 or 3 people later, and it magically got refunded. So essentially I believe that TracFone is a company that actively practices fraud in 2 main areas:1) Via a policy of consuming outstanding credit after a certain date, EVEN IN THE EVENT OF EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES.
2) Deliberately dragging out "helpline" interactions with customer complaints in order to get the customers to simply give up.
I thus recommend to any an all 2 things:1) Never use TracFone.
2) Help improve the equity of the situation by extracting as much value (financially) from TracFone as humanly possible. Using purely legal manners, of course.

Who cares how many minutes you had or how many people will not be able to reach you and not know what happened to you; no days, no phone number, no service. Most companies let you buy minutes or blocks of time; TracFone requires you to buy both minutes and days. If you have lots of minutes and run short of days and short of money... too bad... you lose all your minutes and your service and your phone number. The phone is not good either; just cheap unless you have a lot of money and if you do... take it to a better place.

One was $99 for 1,000 minutes, 1000 text messages and internet time. The other was for $150 for 3,000 minutes, 3,000 text messages and internet time. And the last package was for $199, but I cannot remember what the numbers were for that. The first time I chose that option for the $150 package, it said an hour later that there was an error. My internet went out and I thought maybe that had something to do with it. I went back in through my cell phone and chose the $150 option again. My minutes finally showed up, but not all of them, and I only received 2,000 text messages.
I called their support number and was told that 2 payments went through, so they canceled one for me. However, They told me they do not offer any package with 3,000 minutes or 3,000 text messages. They also told me to wait 24 hours for all the minutes and text messages to show up. I did and the next day, the numbers did not change. I called again. She told me they never offered a plan like that. I went to bring it up on my phone, and the 365 day option plans were now gone. So I have no proof as they removed it. First of all, these people are in India or South America, so their accent is really thick and they speak really fast, making them extremely difficult to understand. When I ask them a million times to slow down, they always stretch their words out for the next few words (sounding sarcastic and condescending) and then go right back to talking fast again. In fact, they talk so fast that I have to keep saying, "waitwaitwaitstopstopstop" because when I just say "wait" one time, they don't even hear it because they don't take a breath. I have to constantly repeat things, and they are constantly answering questions that I am not asking, while not answering questions that I *am* asking.
They put me on hold for a long time, but what is most annoying is that every 2 minutes, they say, "Okay, ma'am, I am still working on your account", like a broken record. Just work on it and shut up! That might not seem like a big deal if you are on hold for 5 minutes, but when you are on hold for an hour it makes you want to scream. Just when I am getting calmed down with the music, or just starting to nod off, they come back and say, "Okay, ma'am..." making me think they have solved the issue, so I get my hopes up, but then they say, "...I am still working on your account." Then, it takes me another 2 minutes to calm down, at which time they come on again to tell me they are still working on my account. When they have figured out that they don't know what to do, they either hang up on me or transfer me indiscriminately to another person, or department altogether.
The other person has no idea why I have been transferred because the customer service rep didn't my account, and I have no idea why I have been transferred because I wasn't even told I was going to be transferred. So me and the new rep are sitting there like, "um, why am I talking to you?" Then, I have to go through the whole thing all over again. Give my number, verify this and that, explain my problem, get put on hold, get told they are still "working on my account", ask them to speak slower, and get hung up on. So, that's first of all.
Second of all, all I wanted to do was change my payment method. I was on 50min/mo with triple minutes for $11.48 per month and I had accumulated over 3,000 minutes. I paid automatically on a credit card each month. Well, I had to cancel my credit/bank card for other reasons, so I went online to change my payment method directly from my checking account. I tried to delete the CC method, and I got an error message. There was an option I clicked on to add my checking account information, account number, routing number etc. I entered all of that and got an error message. So, I called customer service. "Jacob" went in on his end and deleted the cc, which enabled me to process the checking account method.
I thought everything was fine, but after I hang up with Jacob, I get an email stating that I canceled my value plan (50min/mo, Triple Mins, $11.48, All 3000 mins accumulated). Mind you, I'd been on the phone for about an hour already, and online for 2 hours. I call them back, explain everything, and they keep telling me that I cannot use a checking account as a payment method and that this has been the rule since August 2018. They said that I have to have a credit/debit/check card to purchase a plan, and that they would restore me to my old plan and accumulated minutes when I call in or go online and enter a cc number.
So I have to go to the bank and get a new card, which I had not planned on doing because I wanted to avoid getting a card after another event happened that has nothing to do with Tracfone. All of this information is just the latest information I have. See, with Tracfone, information changes depending on with whom I am speaking. That is to say, one person says *this* is the reason/solution, and another person says *that* is the reason/solution. It took me 4 hours and at least 3 different times calling (after being hung up on) to get this last reason/solution, and being told that I can get put back on my original plan and have my minutes restored. Now, understand that I currently have service and those 3,000 minutes are still on my phone for me to use now, but at the end of this service date, unless I have re-newed, they will be lost. I have to renew before the end of service.
But here's the thing, separate from the payment method, they kept saying that I cannot be put on another (same) plan (to restore what Jacob cancelled) because there is a block...because their "system" shows that I am already on a plan. LOL OMG Y'all! I can't even, anymore. THIRD, and last, before all of this started like two days ago, I had decided to upgrade my little tiny LG phone to an iPhone 6s. They had them on sale for $299. It's supposed to arrive today, and I am supposed to be able to transfer everything over to it from my LG, but so help me God, if I have any problems with doing that, I think I am going to send the phone back, not renew my plan, and ask for a refund on the 3,000 minutes that Jacob will have deprived me of...which I paid for.
That being said, I've had the same Tracfone for about 15 years and never had a problem with the phone or the service. For $11.48/mo, 150 minutes, rolling over, it's a great deal. HOWEVER, the customer service is absolutely, 100%, all day, every day, terrible, horrible, make you want to pay $45 to Verizon directly JUST so that you can speak with an American with half a brain, bad. I figure one of the reasons Tracfone is so cheap is because they farm out their customer service for the cheapest they can get it, which means poor service.
So, if you can get through it, and maybe even lose a little money now and then when they screw you over, then Tracfone is a good deal. I'm shopping Verizon and iPhones today because I am thinking about not even opening my new Tracfone/iPhone, sending it back, and being done with them. But, my mom keeps telling me that I'd be saving a lot of money by staying with Tracfone, even if I end up losing my 3,000 accumulated minutes. She's right, but I'm so mad I can't think straight right now. Just know this, if you KNOW that you are going to have to call their customer service, be prepared. Pray and seek the Lord because it will test your salvation.

Kevyn of TracFone Technical Support Chat would not answer the questions that I asked him and was EXTREMELY rude. He treated me as if I should already know the answer to questions that he intentionally tiptoed around. Right from the start with each question he would avoid answering me and then he would say over and over again, before I could respond, quote "Is there anything else that I can assist you with" (trying to get rid of me), instead of waiting for a couple SECONDS for me to respond.
And then while I was typing trying to get him to answer my question instead of waiting for me he waited 20 seconds and then said, "I haven't heard from you in a while, ending chat". I couldn't believe it. He then continued to do it until I told him he was rude and needed to give me a few seconds to respond. It went on for a while like this until I just told him I was going to report him. There is more unbelievable rudeness from him that I just don't have time to get into now, but I have never been treated so rudely and disrespectfully in all my life and I am 54.

I don't know why but I gave serial numbers and VIN numbers. I told them how many minutes I had left and the zip codes for the same home. One in my husband's name and one in my name. Dreadful experience with TracFone! We have a TracFone, and since their policy is that the service expires every year, but if you renew they add minutes to your minutes, we called to renew. Their customer representative by mistake, after we paid by credit card, instead of adding minutes, wiped out our old minutes (4,438). So we were put on hold and told to call back in 24 hours. We did and we were put on hold again and told again to call back in 24 hours and again for 3 times. Tonight after being put on hold forever they told us they cannot do anything about it! So wiped out our minutes instead of adding minutes, got paid for it, and did not resolve the issue.

I got an inexpensive smartphone for my daughter with a 30-minute-per-month plan, and it worked for a while but then it stopped giving access to voicemails. People could leave a voicemail, but there was no way to retrieve it or even change the settings (like you couldn't make a recording saying "Please don't leave any voicemails on this line"). I called CS repeatedly over a period of months, and they would just have me do the same process of resetting the phone over and over. I would spend an hour or more on the phone with them and they would just have me do it like 7 or 8 times, transfer me to someone else who would then have me do it again a few times, and it would never make a difference.
So I finally called them and said they needed to do something or I would report them to BBB. They sent a new SIM card, which did nothing. Then they made me reset it over and over. Clearly the thing would never work. I asked for a new phone... and they said "The warranty is expired - so no". And I said, "If you hadn't wasted months telling me to reset it and sending me this SIM, it would have still been under warranty." So I complained to BBB.
TracFone then decided they would replace the phone and said that when I got the new phone all the minutes I had accumulated on the old phone would automatically be put back on. Of course, they made it as difficult as possible to get the new phone - didn't give me the ticket number, said it got "delayed" because they didn't have the same model for replacement, then sent it to the wrong address even though the address on the account was up to date. When I got the new phone after almost 3 months, I tried to activate it according to instructions, but it wouldn't activate. Called CS and they said they needed to set me up with a new account and that my old phone number couldn't be restored. WHAT??
My account was fully active when I sent in the phone for exchange. I never cancelled my recurring payment plan, never removed the phone from the account, nothing. But they deleted all my information and now claimed they couldn't restore any minutes/data (I had over 24 hrs of minutes - over $100 worth). I would have had to restart a new plan with no minutes. YEAH, RIGHT!
So I made a new complaint with the BBB. Finally got another response from TracFone corporate saying they are going to be restoring the phone number and minutes. Ha! I'll believe that when I see it. Even if they do, it shouldn't have taken this kind of effort to get it done. There is no excuse. Most people would have given up but I don't like it when companies try to get away with this kind of blatant consumer fraud. Everything has been very intentional, especially the CS that purposefully sends you round and round in circles to tire you out rather than letting you use the warranty while it's still good.

I proceeded providing usual billing information and the transaction completed with the statement that auto-fill was established. A few days later I checked my CC posting and noticed it was higher than I expected. I accessed my TracFone account and displayed the billing details which showed that I had paid the usual price of $125 instead of the promotional price of $118.25 but auto-refill was set-up.
I was told by several customer service people that the promotional price is only offered once you have auto-refill established and they claim that I added the time before I subscribed to auto-fill. I tried to explain to a chat rep and a phone rep and their supervisors that once I selected the promotional offer I had no control over the order of each step. Their claim is that I first added time and then applied for the auto-fill, which is incorrect. They refused to discuss it further and would not look into the matter of how the promotional steps were programmed, placing the issue squarely on my actions. This is either a process issue or a bait and switch. My impression is that customer service has no intention of issuing credits for any reason.

After dealing with major medical issues for several years, I finally reached a point where I needed the "free cell phone service" funded by the government. I would be very grateful for such a service if I actually received it. Every single month since activating this service, either my calling ability or internet access stops working only a few days into the month. I call in and of course they say I have reached my limits. I rarely even use this phone. No one, other than my doctors and such, even has this number.
Every time I call customer service I am told that I can buy more service. However, I cannot even get a printout of my calls so I can verify that I am actually using as much as they say. I am told that their system is not set up that way. So they can say that you use whatever they want to say, but they don't have to document it? No one at the customer service center seems interested in helping with anything UNLESS you say that you want to go ahead and pay for more service. Then their tone changes right away.
The FCC website gives the Lifeline service requirements (as of 12/01/2017---750 minutes of talk time and 1GB mobile data) but the Safelink reps say they only provide 350 minutes and 500MB data. They freely admit that they only provide half the service required... but you can buy more service if you need it. Isn't this government fraud? Their "defense" is that when you activate their phone, you automatically agree to the terms of service, which is the lower amounts of service provided. TracFone should be removed from the government program immediately. They provide only half the mandated service. I wonder if they only bill the government half the amount. I think not. They are using the Lifeline Program so they can get people to reload 10 or 15 dollars at a time to keep the phone on. Yes, I have written complaints to the FCC as well... but the public, especially vulnerable low income groups, need to be aware of TracFone's game.

This company's service is unacceptably poor. Cust. svc. reps very difficult to understand due to foreign dialect. It seemed as though they couldn't understand my simply stated problem as any "corrective" data they input to solve the problem made the problem worst - to the point of account numbers being entered wrong, thus my attempts to access my account online gave me 'no account' messages - so I couldn't access my account to add minutes (I'd used most of 60 minutes on calls to them!).
I'd been hung up on during my explanations, repeatedly quoted back wrong issues, couldn't access my account online to add more minutes and the final straw today was receiving a new message giving me the bank account balance and a partial number of an unknown-to-me person! An earlier message I'd received was directed to "David" - not my name or gender or addressing my issue! This was a new TracFone and first time used! It took 6 days for it to be activated! I talked to 3 different service reps with very poor English over 3 days, last rep yesterday hung up on my call, poor website 'help' access and inability to access my account, wasting minutes on calls to their service desk and money wasted on purchasing 120 more un-refundable minutes I couldn't add due to inability to access my account (that apparently didn't exist although I was able to call them)... Nearly every phone call I made to family resulted in the people on the other end saying they couldn't hear or understand me. Last week, I was told I was being transferred to another "dept" for assistance and after 10 minutes I was disconnected.
Today, when I tried again, I was again "transferred" and after 15 minutes of dead air time I didn't know if I was still connected or not. So, I hung up and went to ATT to switch back to ATT for prepaid cell minutes. They are 25 cents/min while TracFone is 20 cents/minutes, but what good is a nickel if people can't understand you due to severe digital pixelating? TracFone customer "service" has a practice of passing you off to another department by asking you to call a different number.
I get the impression if a problem is not immediately solvable, they want you to call back, hoping someone else in Customer Service will answer the phone. Terrible public relations. For a brand new customer I felt I should be entitled to a refund of my prepaid minutes. But they said I should have asked for a refund BEFORE I terminated the service. The Cust. I got a notice on the screen saying I had 10 days left till expiration so went and got a card. For some reason, I could not add the minutes and received the message that my SIM card had expired. I don't even recall ever having one of those. The only thing I can think of is last year, my TracFone got moisture inside and the phone died on me so had to buy another one, which I did.
I remember using the same number and transferred the minutes I had to this phone and kept the same number. I am now told that a SIM card will be sent to me and I should get it within 5-6 days at which time I will have to call Tech Support and they will set it up for me. I was told that I might lose my minutes. Today, I decided to try to enter the Pin number indirectly on the cell phone and once done, the screen became black and when it went back on, the minutes I had were still there but the 60 mins. that should have been added didn't. So will assume I will have to go out and buy another card. Additionally, the model (LG 328BG) that I have is no longer being sold so perhaps that is another reason why I had the problem.

Got kicked off SafeLink first, even after snail mailing to them paper proof my family and I are still on assistance! Then, these arrogant liars sold me a "plan" for my new LG Rebel which they refuse to activate voice service for. Their so-called "Customer Support" is a SICK JOKE which features ** who DON'T SPEAK ENGLISH but simply PARROT REPEAT certain phonetic responses from cue-cards. Their "online chat" only works with telephone web browsers by their design to prevent customers from printing the sessions.
After buying 2 months of service from these thieves, they again cut me off. I foolishly bought another 2 month Plan, but now they refuse to turn the voice service on at all!!! One of their thieves even advised me to dial *22890 to activate the SIM card, which I then was informed by another support rep will destroy the sim card! This thief then gloatingly offered false apologies and as soon as I demanded a refund, signed off the chat session. I intend to try getting this filth to vomit more of their hate and malice into one more chat session if I can find a means of capturing, so I can show the world what kinds of criminal scum, from top to bottom (if they have one)! INFEST TRAC!

I have been with TracFone for years. My phone broke, they sent me a return envelope to send my phone FedEx back to them. Told me it would be two days after they got the phone to send me a new one. It has been a week since I mailed back their phone. I spoke to 4 different people today, the first 3 said they had no record of my cell # nor my phone, the 4th person said they did have record of receiving it but the new one might not go out until the 27th. He said he would connect me to shipping.
ALL 4 people had told me they were forwarding my call to someone else and ALL 4 hung up on me after I literally begged them not to hang up on me. So rude and unprofessional. I have hundreds of minutes and about a year left to go with them and I do not know what to do. This has taken almost an hour of my time and I have gotten nowhere. No wonder they get so few stars. Will be looking for new service for sure. I have not been this frustrated with any company in years!!

I have never owned a "real" cell phone. I bought my TracFone at Walgreens years ago for $4.99 just to keep in the console of my truck for emergency purposes. I do not want to be constantly connected by phone to the world. This phone has served me well. It works great, and it came with the feature of doubling the minutes that are purchased. I had to use the service department for the first time this morning, and they solved my problem within 5 minutes. I had purchased a plan last night for 200 minutes, which meant that I should have received 400 minutes on my phone with the double the minutes plan. When the minutes appeared on my phone, I had been credited with only 200 minutes. It was too late for me to call the customer service department last night. I called this morning, and the nice young lady on the phone put the other 200 minutes on my phone within 5 minutes. You can't ask for better customer service than that.

In preparation of an upcoming temporary move, Verizon could not port my landline due to the distance and exchange. My only option was to port it to a mobile phone carrier. In the process of porting the landline to TRACFONE, I asked to speak to a representative in the USA as I cannot understand many of the other call center representatives. I was polite and respectful in my request. After three calls I ended up again with a representative in the Philippines who quickly disconnected my existing cell number and added a new cell number. He refused to tell me what the new number was.
When I told him my objective was to port a landline and asked to speak to a supervisor, he erased my entire file with all of my data. It has now been six days since I attempted to port the number. I have spoken to 8 different representatives in 3 different countries, and have 6 ticket numbers. At this time, my landline has been disconnected also, so I have in essence lost two of my contact phone lines. Six days ago I wrote to the Corporate office in Miami Florida. No one has contacted me as of today...but since my lines are gone, the only way to communicate with me is via US mail. I was a customer of TRACFONE for 9 years. If you are considering them as a vendor and reside in the USA, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

Purchased Tracfone and minutes. Activated so I thought it never worked. Then I went around and around with customer service. They made me complete 20 steps over and over and transferring me to ever more rude people and disconnecting me. So then I go to chat. That was worse. Lady you should return the phone to store. I have been calling and chatting since June 18. I just had another unproductive chat about why there is no connection. She says, "Sorry. I don't know. Anything else I can help you with." Yeah you could make this phone work or credit me.

Bought a LG Rebel 3 TracFone from HSN. Started the old to new transfer process and got to where my old phone shut down service but the new phone did not pick up service. Instead I got an "Invalid SIM Card " note and the new phone and I cannot connect to phone service. Now both phones are useless. I called TracFone "Customer Service" and they ran me through procedures of removing/reinserting the SIM card 3 times and agreed to send me a new SIM card if I pay $10 for expedited shipping for 3 day delivery!
They were not able to reestablish my service on my old phone in the meantime and I do not know if I will lose my purchased minutes and data if/when a new card arrives. HSN could do nothing other than accept a return of the phone. They could not say if I would lose my accrued time and data. And they no longer have the Rebel 3 so all they could do is give me a credit. All in all this transaction with TracFone and HSN has sucked. This is my 3rd and last TracFone and HSN purchase.

I have been with Tracfone for 15 years with no regrets until my last two smart plan cards. The cards stated 200 minutes, 500 text & 500 MB data, I only received 200 of each. Two Tracfone customer service reps said 200 was correct! I could not get them to understand that I was short 300 MB and 300 text. How hard can it be? I think I have been a customer long enough. I have very much enjoyed no contract but will not tolerate being ripped off.

I purchased a 400 minute plan which was suppose to double minutes. The customer service person said I purchased a 200 minute plan that was doubled. The site is misleading stating 400 minute card was what I was purchasing, if it was the case I was purchasing a 200 minute card it should clearly state that I am purchasing a 200 minute card not a 400 minute card and the picture beside my purchase showed a 400 minute card. This is so misleading. Totally wrong, customer service was no help. I will not be doing business with TracFone after my time runs out.

While they boast they have no contract requirements, they fail to tell you they have virtually no customer service. Absolutely deplorable! Placed on hold for 82 minutes! Their phones are totally junk and are set up to frustrate the operator more than assist. I would guess that any other provider would beat their service by three stars. Avoid the frustration and pay a little more upfront for a real service provider.
