Tracfone is a good company. Their plan pricings aren't always the best but I have yet to drop signal. Their phones are a tad outdated as well. That's all I have to say about Tracfone.

I couldn't rate customer service correctly because I haven't needed to use it- trouble free. I've been with Tracfone for over 10 years...I tried to port my wife's Cricket number to tracfone with a tracfone sim kit. After over 2 hours on the phone I was assured all was well, her phone would be working in 3 hours and that I would get a call back that night to make sure it worked. It did not work, I did not get a call back and the real killer here...They disconnected my phone FOR NO REASON. I prepaid for an ENTIRE YEAR in Jan 2020. I was not able to call tracfone from my disconnected phone. I had to find a landline, waste another hour AND THEY COULD NOT TELL ME WHY THEY DISCONNECTED MY PHONE!
During a national emergency my family lost both phones in under 24 hours BECAUSE OF TRACFONE, WITH NO DAMN EXPLANATION! I have been way beyond furious with them. MY PHONE IS FOR EMERGENCIES AND IT DID NOT WORK BECAUSE OF TRACFONE. I had to get a hold of a supervisor in the corporate office to make them give me back my money. Their service IS NOT TRUSTWORTHY. I yelled and threatened until they refunded me for the entire ** year. I will never use Tracfone again. Not if they were the only cell provider on Earth. Do not trust Tracfone. In an emergency they will let you down!

Tracfone used to be a good budget cellular provider, offering prepaid wireless. I used them for over 10 years, and over the lifetime of multiple phones. However, their customer service (or lack thereof) is an abomination. Over the course of these 10 years, I have had them randomly deactivate SIMs and reassign them to other phones, forcing me to have to spend an inordinate amount of time on the phone with their call centers in India for resolution. On one of these occasions, I spent *9 hours* on the phone with them going back and forth to get them to reactivate the service that I paid for. I stuck with them because they were cheap, and these issues were few and far between.
However, the last straw was when, a few days ago, I discovered they somehow applied someone else's charges (and subsequent chargeback) to one of the lines on my account, and deactivated the line erroneously. When I called to straighten it out, I was told that I have to pay for this chargeback, and on top of it they expect me to go out in a pandemic (coronavirus) to get a check or money order and mail it to them, in order for the line to be reactivated, even to be able to transfer the number to another provider. Bear in mind, this wasn't even my chargeback. My bank has no record of any such transaction, and I never requested a chargeback. So, they're expecting me to pay someone else's charges to get my line reinstated.
I'm in the process of pulling my business from this company and going with a better, more customer-friendly, prepaid wireless provider. Bottom line is, don't waste your time with Tracfone. You will end up stuck with a phone that doesn't work and having to waste time trying to reason with people who can't seem to understand basic logic. They'll just keep talking you in circles until you realize that the time you're wasting on them is more valuable than the service you're receiving.

They are rude beyond belief and if I hear "I sorry" one more time I am gonna puke! Stay with local carriers even if it costs a few more bucks. Stay away!!!!

As a single mom, I've used this service for a few years for my home phone so my kids have a way to contact me. When it was time to reload my phone, it wouldnt accept it. I finally got a hold of a human (which is challenging) to explain my issue. She had me insert codes and turn it off and on a million times...but nothing worked. It said "my service was inactive." With a sick kid at home, I NEEDED it to work. I was on the phone with them for over an hour for them to ultimately tell me there was something wrong with their system and once it reset, the phone would start working on its own. Keep trying to make calls and/or send messages. (which costs minutes every time)
Fast forward 13 days and still no phone service! I called them back, she did entered a code on her end...FIXED no problem???♀️ When I asked about all those used up minutes and days, they refused to refund me and kept telling me, they were waiting on me to call them back....never at anytime, did they inform me that was the deal. I was suppose to keep trying until their system reset itself. They gave me the run around and told me "I still have plenty of service days, I shouldn't be worried about the ones I lost." I will never use this company again and I will certainly never rely on them for customer service!

This last weekend, I had my remaining, 1,200 minutes, 13,500 text and 12.59 data, transferred to a new phone. Then today, there was no airtime. Texts or data on the new phone, it had all disappeared. I called Tracfone, but talked to a robot and was not allowed to talk to a human. Nothing was done about the loss of my minutes, texts or data. Tried to contact customer service, but the same thing, a robot. Had to go out and purchase a new airtime card to get my phone to work again. This company has the worst customer service, I have ever seen. I only hope someone from Tracfone reads this and contacts me about my problem.

Yesterday, while working to change my provider from Tracfone to StraightTalk, my phone suddenly lost its remaining airtime. I'd purchased a 1-year plan which should not have expired before this coming summer. Seven (7) calls to Tracfone all ended up with no help and two (2) disconnects. They are not able or qualified to provide any technical assistance, other than to transfer you to a another department that may or may not end up cutting off the connection. Extremely disappointing trying to deal with them. I would not recommend them if you should ever need their help! Would have given them "0" stars if I could.

I have had a Tracfone since they came out. Being retired, I don't need to use it that often but I always carry it when I leave the house. I have email capabilities on the phone, too, although I haven't needed to use it. I use voice, text messaging and the camera. The company doubles the time I purchase on a tracphone card which makes the phone even more affordable. For someone who doesn't need to carry a cell phone every day, this is a useful, practical, and affordable alternative to a smartphone.

Before going to a permanent contract cell provider, I used a pre-paid TracFone for several years. I never had any problems, i.e., the cost was reasonable compared to other pre-paid plans, the phone’s reception was good, and I very rarely had a “dropped call” or experienced areas with no cellular coverage. I would recommend a pre-paid phone, especially for low-income individuals, and seniors who don’t use a cell phone as their basic means of communication.

I have had the Tracfone plan for over 8 years with four different phones. My latest phone is an LG and it works great for me. I have had no problems with the service and the phone. My previous phone was a Samsung 5 and the other two were Tracfone flip and a Tracfone plain. The plan I use is the 90 days with 90 minutes talk, text and data. The talk, text and data keeps forwarding if you don't use them all and you keep buying a card for 90 days to renew the service. If you need more talk, text or data they have card which you can add to the plan. If your usage is limited this is a great plan. However, even if you exceed the cost to add data, text or talk is very inexpensive.

While Tracfone is a fairly good company they charge a lot for data. Then when you use that data it appears to disappear at a faster rate than the big companies. The upside is that there is no contract and regular rates for talk and text are good.

The Tracfone (flip phone) fit my exact needs at work. I needed a phone I could slip into my pants pocket while I installed equipment in racks, cabling under raised floor, etc. The phone was simply a way my peers / folks could reach me. I have a computer on my desk and don't need all the apps that come with a smart phone. And to add, most all smart phones, i.e. iPhones, Androids, etc are too bulky for the work I do. I usually have to set the phone down somewhere during some installations and retrieve it later. If I can remember where I left it.

When we crossed the border into Washington State in January, we purchased a plan before continuing on our trip to Las Vegas. When we tried our phone upon arrival, the phone said "No service". I called TracFone and was told the plan had been cancelled. It seems they gave the phone number to two different people, and Person #1 cancelled the plan. That left us with nothing! I explained to them that we had not even used the plan we purchased. They would not accept that. So, I asked them to cancel our plan. They asked security questions, and we answered them.
One of the questions we were asked was "what is your birth date". We told them and they said that was incorrect! How dumb is that? According to them, we do not know our birthdates!! After haggling with them for about an hour, I then asked for a refund. (In the meantime, we had wrecked one phone trying to remove the SIM card as instructed by them, and went out and bought a new one). As to the refund, they would only give it to us if we answered the security questions (our birthdates) correctly. Of course, it was impossible. We were transferred to supervisors several times..no one solved the problem. It appears we were given a phone number which had already been given to someone else and was still active (we got calls for that person). The other person cancelled and we were left without service. The matter was never rectified.
So...we went online and purchased a plan. All went well until we asked for our phone number. We were then told there were no numbers available for our area. So, we asked them to cancel the plan. They said they couldn't. We waited a couple of days, then called them again and gave them a different ZIP code. The person we spoke to this time was able to give us a phone number. The first two weeks of our vacation, we were without phone service and spent a lot of time on another phone trying to solve our problem. The staff do not seem to know what they are doing. There is also a problem with their accents...very difficult to understand. I no longer recommend TracFone to ANYONE! BY THE WAY, we got no refund for the unusable plan we purchased!

DO NOT deal with this company. We had been customers of theirs for a few years & attempted to purchase a new phone in Dec. (2019) for our daughter. We PAID for a NEW phone & they sent us a refurbished phone. We called & explained the situation & they sent us another phone & that phone was also a refurbished phone. Realizing we weren't getting anywhere, we requested instructions on how to send the phones back to them & get our money back. We sent the phones back, per their instructions, at the beginning of Jan. & have been fighting for our money back, which we still have not received.
We did everything that they asked, documented everything, have been given numerous excuses from the company as to why we haven't received our money, & have finally had to turn it over to our credit card company, whom we hope will be able to go after this very dishonest company. She purchased the $99 plan and minutes (she has over 5000 minutes on the plan still available). We called and they loaded everything on the phone and told us she is set. On February 13th the phone stopped working. Says NO SERVICE. We spent over an hour and half on customer service for them to say she needs a new SIM card and then she will be able to load the new SIM card in and she should be good’.
We purchased the SIM card from them, they gave her a new number, yes they told her had to have a new number. Then the card came in and we called for them to connect everything and the new number, and new SIM card and still NO SERVICE. Now they are blaming it on local towers.. Never had a problem before the disconnect date. Now they say she has to have a new Tracfone because hers is older.
All I can say is, they are they ones who screwed up, and now they want us to spend more money to buy another phone. Shady company with horrible customer service. I have used them for 5 years with no real problems. They use Verizon poles so I can have service almost everywhere. The town I live in has some cell phone problems that I have not incurred with tracphone. The only downside is the support can be sketchy and frustrating but it has gotten better In the past few years. I’ve been with Tracfone for about ten years so I’m pretty satisfied. My husband and I have used Tracfone for about 11 years now. We've been quite satisfied with them. Customer support is a bit difficult sometimes if you need to contact them because most of the time you get someone with a thick accent and it's hard to understand them. However they are always helpful and solve whatever issue you might have. We have very few dropped calls other than when going down in a dip when driving in areas without great coverage on any carrier. My husband used to drive hours every day for his job. He had the Tracfone and a company phone through Verizon. The Tracfone actually had better coverage than Verizon did. It's definitely much cheaper than Verizon or any of them and they have some great plans. They also now have unlimited calls and texts. The lowest price deal gives you 1 gig a month of data which doesn't expire so builds up if you don't use it and goes up 1 gig in increments of 5 dollars each.

I have no complaint with the service, everything I have used works fine. My problems are:
2 - Called customer service to address the issue and imagine my surprise when I was told that I was unable to buy what I had already bought and paid for. (Went through checkout, hit my card, etc.) After over an hour (60 'expletive deleted' minutes of phone time) on 2 calls, demanding they HONOR their 'expletive deleted' website offer and getting told to pound salt, that I was NOT eligible to buy what they took my money to pay for, I finally got to someone who agreed to refund and cancel the transaction. As I write I am waiting for an email confirmation, we'll see what happens.
The issue originates at the website, am a 2-3 years customer of TracFone and was going to renew. After signing in and entering my phone number (I bought the phone from them!) my assumption was that ONLY appropriate plans would be shown. How silly of me! OH, I am a retired System Analyst, database developer and programmer, over 45 years, a simple IF...THEN statement to turn off or on certain things on a page or in a site is NOT DIFFICULT!!! I finally gave up after being on the phone for ages. Well, then I broke my hips and had 2 hip surgeries. My nephew who works with all this technology spent hours trying to get the units to my phone. One person after another kept trying. No luck. My nephew took the phone home with him to continue trying. Well, I'm not sure how long he worked on it, but they FINALLY got 9968 units transferred but I am still missing over 3600 units. That is MEGA money - I can say that the people I talked with were polite, but I think they were from India so I had a hard time understanding them. I am going to try again. It's a brand new phone--we never locked it, nor did we set up a password for it.
Customer service was on the phone with my partner for over an hour, trying to unlock the phone, and was unsuccessful. So I asked for a refund for the phone and the minutes I paid for. • The website is USELESS. Although I can login to the site and see an account profile and various pages I can’t even get my phone to register there. As of now the website tells me I don’t have any devices. A number of years ago called Tracfone to get something done that I should have been able to do on the website and I asked a rep. why the website wasn’t working for me. I was told it’s typical.
• Right now I’m sitting here waiting for a call with a login code for a website to be sent to me. I’ve probably been waiting for 15 or 20 minutes for the call. Yesterday I tried to have a code texted to the same phone and never got one in time to use it before the logout attempt failed. Unacceptable.
• I suspect that Tracfone would prefer that people like me switch to a service plan. I don’t want that. If I ever make that decision I CERTAINLY won’t choose Tracfone just because of the issues I’ve listed above.

I purchased a Samsung Galaxy phone from Tracfone in early September. When I received the phone I followed instructions to activate the phone. After about 4 days the phone was still not functional, so I called Customer "Care" (I type this with as much sarcasm as I can muster), and the nightmare began. After several hours, over the course of two days, of speaking to service reps and getting nowhere, I finally got through to a manager and at last my phone was activated (apparently, tracfone managers are afforded tools that the average lackey employee is not). For 25 days the phone worked fine but when I tried to add more airtime the nightmare started all over again. The phone went inactive so I once again called customer care and voila, same "black hole in space" service I got the first time around.
I was on the phone with Tracfone reps for over four hours yesterday until, out of sheer exasperation, I cancelled the service. I asked them to refund my credit card for the unusable purchased minutes and was told they could not refund the money. I asked to speak once again with a manager and after much frustrating discussion, the manager hung up on me. AARRRGG!!! My wife bless her heart, called tracfone this morning and managed to get the minutes refunded. She then tried to get a refund for the purchase of the phone itself but was denied because we had it for more than 30 days (33 to be exact). We argued that it is not our fault the tracfone system doesn't function, and that one cannot use a phone purchased through tracfone with another provider, therefore, tracfone should accept return of the phone and refund our money. This was flat out denied and as we tried to argue our case further, the "Customer Care" rep hung up on us (AGAIN).
So, we are stuck with the cost of a useless phone unless we are willing to go the route of small claims court, which would cost us more in time and money than its worth. Moral of the story: STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM TRACFONE AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN!!!! By the way, I would have given tracfone zero, or even negative, stars, but one is required to give at least one star. :(

Had to spend an hour worth of minutes just to activate it. Every week I get messages from TracFone saying my phone requires one or more upgrades and when I receive a link click upgrade. Done that a couple times and all that has changed is the data it costs me to do it. I hope that I can get away from TracFone soon, I've had more than enough. I've come to hate these phones and TracFone with every fiber of my being and hopefully this review will save others the heartache I've endured...

I have had service with TracFone for approximately 6 months, always bought a TracFone card to renew phone. This month I buy the card, and try every way possible to activate it and unfortunately they're telling me that I am a SafeLink customer and my phone card is not compatible with my TracFone. It's a 25$ card and as a single mother I do not have 25$ just lying around, it is not expendable. The CSR suggested I buy another card. But I refused and finally got a CRS that would add the minutes. 5 hours later I have no minutes on my phone still and I have potential employees to call. TracFone is not dependable. Most of their CRS seem to not be well mannered. There is absolutely no refund. Basically, I would not recommend this company unless you are really okay with throwing money away.

TracFone is good when it works. However if you have a problem - you really have a problem! Recently TracFone had issues with Voicemail. While the phone would tell you had voice mails you could not retrieve them. Call your number, go through the prompts and get a dead line. This lasted over a week. Numerous calls to TracFone and their Customer service tries to reset the phone and troubleshoot the issue. No luck. Finally force the way up the ladder and I am told that there is a outage with their agent (ATT) and they do not know when it will be fixed. When I ask why no one could tell me this on the phone calls I had made previous, I was told the Customer Service had not been trained on this issue. I was also told that when it came back up customers would be notified. I asked what about the wasted minutes I had used trying to fix something that I had no control. Told I had to ask for them when service came back up.
Well, no message when it did come back on line. Just got a regular message "You have Voice Mails". I go back to my phone and look at how many calls I had made and the time. I call customer service and first line representatives have no idea what I am talking about. Move up the ladder and I am told TracFone would not credit me any minutes. I am told that I had not used the service anyway. Can't use something that you can't access! 40 minutes of phone time at my expense, and time investment on my end, for nothing. Can a person imagine IF there was a real emergency and voice mail was used - or I should say tried to be used.
I would hope there are some legal ramifications on this run around. They also tell me since I am calling on a toll free line what am I complaining about (my words). TracFone takes your minutes on every call you make. The Rep does not even know it! Training consists of reading from a script, in my opinion. They don't live up to what they tell you. Language barrier can be extreme. Be prepared because you won't be able to get good and fair answers.

My husband and I currently have service with Verizon Wireless and I am just sick and tired of paying their fees for things we use very little. We have unlimited service with them for two lines are were conned into taking a couple of tablets from them with the assurance that we could drop the tablet lines in 6 months. About a year later we called to drop them and are now informed that we have to keep them for 2 years! These are about $50 tablets and of course we should have read the 10 page agreement before signing but as idiots do-we believed the salesman. So now we pay about $175 a month for just the two of us to use maybe 2 gb between us. We make and receive about 20 calls a month between us and the only texts we make are between the two of us and we are seniors so you can imagine that we don't go wild with selfies!
ANYWAY.... Due to this, I recently dug up my last phone which is a Galaxy Note 4 and decided to figure out if I could use it with TracFone and see if that system might work for us if we decide to abandon Verizon. I purchased a TracFone sim card at Walmart and easily replaced the one in my old Galaxy. Called the number on the card. The walk thru asked if I had service with them, No I said, it asked if I wanted to bring my own phone, Yes, I had to enter the IMEI number and I was asked if I wanted to purchase a smartphone package and I chose the least one because I am just testing things out. I think it is 30 days unlimited talk and text with 1 gb of data. It came to $22.48.
They then asked me to try to make a call to see if it worked. I did-it did work and that was that. It was working immediately and my cell number given immediately. I have emailed and texted just to make sure it works. I have also used the internet just to see if it work and it does. I will say that it seems slower but this could be my older phone or it could be because I only purchased a gig. The main thing is that it works fine. Most of our phone time is using wifi at home and I can still do that. In closing I will say that if I continue getting the service I am getting I will be dropping Verizon after 20 years as a customer and going to TracFone. If worse comes to worse and I dislike them later, there are other companies to try.

I have been with TracFone since about 16 or 17. I'm now 24. I have always had issues with customer service department when trying to get my minutes from old semi working/broken phone to a new phone. Well this time my phone number was important due to many people knowing to get ahold of me based off this phone number. My phone would not hold a charge for a long time and was broken in one corner causing it to back out if I was ever on the internet or trying to look at something so I decided to get a new phone after moving. I went to try to transfer my old phone number to a new phone but the first day I called they told me there was an error and to wait 24 hours and call again. I called again 24 hours later and talked with them for 30 minutes with the same answer. No matter what I asked they told me the new phone works but they cannot transfer my number over. I recommend taking your money to another place besides TracFone.

Believe me when I say you should never Tracfone. It's an awful cellular provider and I'll tell you why. First off, their customer support is terrible. The representatives are not helpful and tell you the problem is on your end when it's in fact on their end. I've had this problem more than once. Second, their new unlimited plans are incredibly buggy. They don't auto-renew as advertised. Data does not renew. Cellular data stopped working because it didn't renew. Customer support said it was because we didn't pay, but we did. After many hours on the phone with unhelpful support, data finally started working. Then, it stopped working after two days. It's just terrible. NEVER USE TRACFONE!!!!

May take 2 more hours to fix. Right. Zero confidence in them. They left me stranded in the middle of nowhere unable to make a call. It has now been 4 hours with no ability to call. I had purchased a one year usage card. I had bought several phones with more minutes (one for breakage, one dropped in water, one to get better performance). So I knew I had almost 3000 unused minutes. No, they insisted. Zero minutes. I went up the ladder, from agent to supervisor to manager. They all told the same story: zero minutes. If you use tracfone I suggest you should not accumulate more minutes in advance than necessary. Tracfone may steal the minutes if you have to replace your phone for any legitimate reason. Better yet: avoid tracfone.

I give them one star as they are devious and not forthcoming with information regarding location of former return center. In this day and age it is unbelievable that they can not access this info. I returned a refurbished phone that had updates that were out of date rendering it impossible to activate. I returned phone and was told that it had been received and my refund was on the way by 4 different customer service representatives. I did not keep info regarding return as I had been assured that refund would be sent to my card. After a month I called and was told to expect refund in the next month. I called after a month and was told I needed tracking number which I did not retain so they said I was out of luck without it. I called to find out address of return center and was given an Indiana address.
I know I sent the phone to a California address so I asked for California address and was told that there had been a change of address in the last month but they could not give me the old address because it was not in their system any longer. I had hoped to take California address to UPS and somehow backtrack to tracking number but Tracfone refuses to give out that valuable info! In 3.5 months they say I used all my texts which is impossible since I only gave the number to one person that I see every day of my life. I asked for backup records and they conveniently only can see this month to which they say I used 160 texts. Also Not possible. After over an hour on the phone with three different people they transferred me to “corporate office” on a Sunday (questionable) who says I used 100 texts (more likely) and she would replace the rest. After 3 times being put on hold she says I have no texts left! Then says I have 10 texts left! What the heck?
Basically they are scammers who give you what you think is a good deal then take it all back so that you have to purchase more! Do not buy at any cost! It will only cost you! Thank goodness I kept my “real” cell phone/plan/number and did not give this number out. It’s useless now. $100 down the drain! I will however continue to use the talk and data mins until they run out which should be in a day or so after this review. P.S. Supposedly they now have carry over if your service stays active. Not True. I had an active phone plan but the data supposedly ran down due to poor signal strength. I recently complained that after purchasing 1.5 gb of data airtime from Tracfone, they credited my account with 1.411 (89 mb short of my purchase). Reviewing my account history, I see that 52 mb more have been credited to my account, still leaving me 37 mb short. However, due to the complex and confusing nature of this issue, I will give Tracfone the benefit of the doubt and upgrade my rating to 3 stars. Nevertheless, the difficulty I had dealing with Tracfone’s customer service still remains an issue.
Original Review: Sept. 18, 2019
I recently renewed my yearly TracFone service, paying for 1.5 gb of data. However I only received 1.411 gb (89 mb short of 1.5 gb). This can be verified by screen captures I made of my account on TracFone’s website during the process. After chatting with “Jade” of TracFone’s customer service for nearly an hour (and having a request to speak with his or her manager denied) he or she agreed to credit my account with the additional data, to take place on the following day. As of two days later my account is still not credited. I again contacted TracFone’s customer service, speaking this time with “Russell” with basically the same results: no credit to my account. Not only did TracFone fail to deliver what I paid for, their customer service leaves a lot to be desired, being either unable or unwilling to rectify the problem. If product misrepresentation and poor customer service are among your concerns, I strongly recommend against dealing with TracFone.

I needed a replacement phone quickly, so I placed an online order with the assistance of a chat representative. The only free shipping option was 2-day FedEx, everything else was weirdly $7 and up. I should have seen the signs then. FedEx is unable to deliver packages to my address, but usually this isn't a major problem as delivery updates can be made.
After speaking to FedEx after the tracking was generated, I was basically told that TracFone's contract with them doesn't allow the recipient to: 1) Change the address, 2) Hold for pickup, 3) Refuse delivery. I can do absolutely nothing to get the package or have it return. I even left a note for FedEx to either release the package or call me to complete it and the driver ignored it.
So, I'm left without a phone that I paid for. I called TracFone and spent over an hour, spoke with probably 10 representatives to come to this final conclusion: "No, we can do nothing for you. You will have to wait for the package to be in scanned at our warehouse after being returned before we issue a refund. This can take a minimal of 2 weeks and extend to 30 days before you see the money back." Until then, I'm out a phone, I'm out my money, and I have to keep removing door tags from FedEx. This is bad customer service and I hope the demographic that this company targets really considers their choices.

My husband and I purchased a TracFone and plan as a starter phone for our daughter. We brought it home and I immediately began activating and setting it up. All was going well until I tried to make a call from the phone, as per instructions. It wouldn't work. Tried again, nothing. Did an online chat with support to fix the problem but when that didn't work, I ended up on the phone for 4 HOURS with tech support being transferred around numerous times, being asked for the same information every time and constantly asked if I would complete a survey. After determining that the phone was defective I was told to return it to the store where I bought it and get a replacement and call back for them to activate it. This was after I called in a third time. My husband was put on terminal hold (45 minutes). I was told NOT to wipe the phone but return it as it was. Who leaves all of their personal info (or worse yet, their child's info) in a phone and expects Walmart employees to wipe the phone after you leave???? So, we went and exchanged the phone, wiping the original phone at the service counter.
We get home and start over with the new phone. However, the minutes plan that we had attached via PIN to the original defective phone could not be used again for the replacement. Back on the phone to tech support. They finally get it transferred over to the new phone because now they can't find a record of the old phone in their system (from an hour earlier). But, surprise, this phone doesn't work either!!! No calls, no texts. It will make one phone call but will not hang up and has to be rebooted every time. Will not receive texts. Another hour of checks for the tech operator and we are told to go exchange it again. NOPE!!!! Going to go get a refund on the phone. I'm screwed on the plan since it's non-refundable and I refuse to get another TracFone.
So my lesson for the day after 5+ hours online and on the phone with tech support, fighting language barriers and bad attitudes, two trips to Walmart, dealing with Walmart staff to make the exchange, and ending up with no phone and $$ lost: DO NOT EVER USE TRACFONE!!!! Save yourself the aggravation and time and money and go a different route.

So had 259 minutes and May 2020 as the service end date. 4. Checked the purchase record and it says 200 minute card. 5. Refunded the card as the 3X does not work for my phone and I could get a 60-day card and 750 minutes for less that wasn't a 3X card. 6. After the refund the minutes came off so I bought the 60-day/750 minute card. 7. Checked my account and the service end date was in 60-days, instead of the nearly 210 it should have been.
8. I called to have this fixed and the guy I spoke with just kept arguing with me that the card I just bought only added 60 days so I should have 60 days time. I explained the entire situation to him 3 times. It was good until Feb 2020 before the first purchase, it went to May of 2020, and then after the refund and purchase of the 60-day card I only had 60 days left. He kept saying I only had 60 days of time. I then got angry and explained it a 4th time. He finally reset the end date to late April, which means he had to have a reference to a prior expiration as it was within 1 day of the date I think it should have been. Even after doing so he continued to be argumentative. I have bought many TracFones through the years, but never again. Once the time or minutes are used up on my current one I am done with them.

A single word texted counts as one minute/unit (stupid me for believing what the card said). However, I called 3x (ended up in India) and the service reps' English accents (all of them) was horrible. I had to ask 4x with every phrase to repeat (I speak 4 languages fluently and this has never happened). Beyond frustrating. Worse: sending less than 10 pics ate 400Mb of "web" data (though my data usage on my phone shows 12M) and once that happens, you are locked out of the option of purchasing another web data add-on service card online. They all kept steering me to the same Tracfone.com page location and the more I repeated that I only see three options that did not include buying web data, the more they would put me on hold and contact a supervisor on speakerphone in the background.
Just with one representative I was on the phone for an hour. I even suggested that because the data minutes shows as 0 on my phone, that it now will not allow me to purchase more, but they had no idea. They kept suggesting I give them my credit card number and they can purchase the card for me. That was a total no. They sent me a refurbished $40 phone to replace the brand new one that didn't work! I was so mad. I was told to just return it. 2 weeks later no phone! And my original old phone don't work either! I've been with NO phone for a month.
When I called TracFone a week ago I was asked for tracking numbers. Numbers? There is no receipt with the phone and phone #2 went through US postal. She told me she has no record of me in her computer since 2017. OMG! She can't, she go back and at least see a phone was sent to my house a month ago? One was returned? Another returned? Apparently not! She said I can expect a new phone in another week! Just by going by what I told her, and not being able to look me up. Even when giving her my TracFone number. Oh..,c'mon! I have never had problems. But if you get a phone that don't work! Good luck! Every call I've made there is a different operator. Nobody knows a thing and information don't get recorded in their computer properly. It's a mess. I have NO phone. I'll never get reimbursed for my $80 phone. And maybe my 1400 minutes, just lost? Disgusted!!

Wife had phone from QVC that came with 1500 minutes. QVC said no time limit. Found out the phone was not compatible and was sent new phone which was supposed to be compatible and free minutes. After 2 hours and 4 people at TracFone still do not have minutes, they say we have to go back to QVC and get another PIN number. People who answer phones have no ability to back up their promises or get a simple job done. Been TracFone customer for too long, QVC should be more careful about using this company.
