THIS IS INTERESTING - Back in 2016, I was undergoing some personal issues in my life. So, my personal credit took a major turn/hit. After reviewing what Fingerhut offered, I went ahead and applied for their credit terms knowing that their products were overpriced. But it was a way for me to rebuild my credit profile. So, I applied, they granted me $600.00. Then I ordered about $130.00 worth of products. Then I immediately pay them back and they increased my credit available to $1,200.00. So, I made a few more purchases and always paid off the entire balance every time. They kept saying, you have available credit, and I didn't have to pay it off. They insisted that I stay in debt with them over and over again. Then, they increased my credit available to $1,600.00. I called them and asked them to keep my credit available to only $1,200.00. So, they did but not without putting up a fight.
So, since 2016, my credit profile is back up in the 745 range. But after them reporting my pay status as excellent, after me always paying them off completely, after me ordering a few times and overpaying for their items, after me referring others that were trying to rebuild their own credit, Fingerhut decided to close my account on April 2022. Yes, my credit score took a hit by 8 points. Their reason was, I didn't commit myself to stay in debt. Other words, they were not making any profits from my own credit behavior. Now, since I realized and identified their tactics, their objectives, I can only give them the lowest recommendation. This company is considered dishonest, distasteful and very tacky and SHOULD NOT ever be considered by anyone trying to rebuild their credit file.
"The main objective is simple --- if you do not become a slave --- to our offerings, ---then we must terminate our relations with you" --- May God of all Creation, bless this Operation, touch their hearts, touch their souls and show mercy towards them. It's true, man's heart is wicked above all things. This is a great example of course. So, my prayer for Fingerhut is this: Father, of heaven and of earth, I forgive them. Shalom! Rebuch Haba, B'shem Adonai!

I bought an Xbox from Fingerhut. They delivered it to the wrong address and I called them immediately. I was told multiple times that they would remove it from my account, but it has been 6 months and now they've sent it to collections. Everything I call I have to explain everything all over again and the customer service rep tells be to wait 3-5 bullishness days and it should be removed but it never is. I am suing them for fraud. Don't buy from them!

I got this account of $300, with $30 down, to rebuild my credit. I was fully aware that any purchase I made would have a price tag that’s almost double of the MSRP. I ordered a hairdryer & paid the $30 down. After about a month I received my order but at this point my account showed “no payment due”. I learned that payment dates are typically around the 6th of each month so I proactively made a payment the following month, still while my account showed “no payment due”…I was bound and determined to not let Finger Hut sabotage my credit score.
After that first payment (made in November 2020) my online account finally listed a due date of DECEMBER 6 for my FIRST payment. I was stoked that I had already made the December payment & assumed that by doing so my next payment would be due in January, which I also paid. But no, they reported me to the credit bureau for missing a payment in December, which made my credit score fall EIGHTY points overnight. And I still can’t get this off my credit history/reports…almost 2 years later.

This company lowered my credit for no justifiable reason. I have an excellent payment history with them and a low utilization rate. Yet, they still reduced my credit 700 points. They raised my credit to 2200 then reduced it down to 1500 because I didn’t purchase more products with them. The effect caused my utilization to increase with the credit bureaus. They temporarily increase your credit for good payment and activity, then decrease it if you are trying not to accrue more debt. It’s a shame that the American government allow these horrible business practices to continue in challenging times like these. Does this agency look into these matters and do anything about it? That’s the question!

Just before Christmas 2021, Fingerhut simultaneously gave $200 credit to a identity thief using my name and sold them a product (Bluetooth speaker) for about $180 — sent to a drop box in east Orange, NJ. I reported this to the police in my town when I discovered this and other fraudulent activity two weeks later, via my credit report. Fingerhut has been harassing me ever since, which apparently is their modus operandi. Their most recent invoice, 2.5 months after their bogus sale, is for $256.85. Consumers should do the math before they get anywhere near having anything to do with this predatory outfit.

WebBank, who does all of Fingerhut's financing and they are the worst mistake you can ever make.! They have cost me thousands of dollars on major purchases because of their bullying tactics. My credit score has been demolished by this company because I don't want the junk they are selling. Even though I never missed a payment they would raise and drop my credit limit ruining my credit score, as punishment for not buying the overpriced merchandise they are selling. I've considered legal action. At this point they have ruined My credit so badly I'm considering just letting the account go to collections so I can pay a collections agency half as much because I have nothing to lose anymore. My advice is don't even think about it, and to the thousands of people experiencing what I am we need to band together and stick it to them for a change. Worst credit decision ever!

I have paid off my Fingerhut account twice. Have less than 200.00 balance currently. I have received harassing emails and text messages for the last 3 weeks about making my payment that isn't even due until March!!! I wrote once nicely, told them didn't appreciate being harassed over a payment that wasn't due for 3 weeks at that time. Got the blah blah reply.
Next week I got text messages and another email. Not so nice reply sent, advising them this was harassment and my payment wasn't due for 2 weeks. Advised I didn't want the harassment or I would just stop paying completely. Today I get ANOTHER email in caps telling me my payment was due in a week and if I didn't pay they were going to charge me 38 in late charges. I paid my payment 2 days ago but it's showing processing not posting. So I had enough. Wrote and said the balance was now their problem due to the harassment I received for 3 weeks before payment was due and after payment was made. Stay away from this company!!!!

How they get you is when u set up automatic payments whatever day you log on is the day that they set the automatic payments up but they don’t tell us that. This company like most companies that claim to help you, are preying upon the poor. Plus why would anyone want to build their credit by financing a overpriced blender or coffee maker. If you want to build your credit score research credit building and save yourself a bundle.

I have had Fingerhut for years. My first few purchases were fine but when I made large purchases like getting a bunkbed it was not what it was supposed to be at all and I found that out after struggling putting the whole bed together and then having to take it apart for them to come pick up then the missing times to pick it up from me having to find a way to carry that to my vehicle and take it to UPS.
The last purchase is where I stop purchasing things from them. I had a trip to go to Georgia and I was only given a bag not a suitcase. The main thing that was supposed to go with it. My account was credited but my account went downhill from them. Every time I would make a payment on time it would affect my credit so when I contact the main headquarters to address that they did call me and they were apologetic however I’ve been dealing with this so long and then on top of that I was told not to make a payment until they resolved it and then I got late fees on top of that and I have all of the documentation.

My payment is $49.96 a month. It's now been almost 5 years and I still owe the same amount. If you are one day late they charge you a late fee that is very close to your original payment. Go somewhere else if you really want to help your credit. Their prices are higher and the interest rate is sky-high. And if you're one day late their fee is HIGH!!! DON'T BUY FROM FINGERHUT. I turned to Fingerhut because I am trying to improve my credit rating, and I received a tip that this would be a great way to do this. When I applied, I was given the Fingerhut Advantage Credit Account issued by WebBank. Since I was trying to improve my credit rating while making sound purchases that I could pay off, I kept anything I bought under the 30% line. But when COVID hit, I didn't use the card for a couple of months out of the desire to have one less thing I have to worry about on top of everything else. Since I didn't spend any money on the card in a 3 month period of time due to my issues with COVID, they up and closed closed my account, telling me I wasn't qualified for the account due to lack of spending. I was stunned.
Every time you go on the website, they tell you what you have to spend in a way to where you can't miss it. They didn't care about me as their consumer, but rather, they only cared about my wallet and their bottom line. Truth be told, the prices in comparison to other retailers out in the community are more expensive, and the features that I would receive for the same basic items? I would receive more features for less money. I bought only one item during my time with them, and that was a bottle of perfume that I wanted. When I received the bill, I paid it off in full due to not wanted any kind of high interest hanging around my neck. Just be careful with this place. They are money grabbing, and they will take your credit from you if you don't spend or even if you do spend the credit you're given by this bank. To me, this isn't a proper consumer business practice.

I applied for a Fingerhut account and received a Notice of Credit Denial. Then, I contacted the number to the department that makes the decision. I mentioned there was a freeze on my credit report. Two weeks later, the department looked into the application and approved me with a starter credit line. I made my $30 down payment and paid my bill on time for the next six months. Fingerhut increased my limit removing me from Fresh Start to the Advantage account.
The customer service representatives are very pleasant. I don't recall ever not having someone answer my question. Now, the coupon codes will expire if you don't pay attention customer service can't help. The coupon sends a lot of magazines in random red and blue envelopes. I've accidentally thrown away the good coupons like $200 of a $400 purchase. Write down your catalog number for no payments during a certain timeframe.
I've had my Advantage account for almost four years. The first order I placed I used the entire credit line which isn't recommended. Everything I order from them costs more than $200 total. There are certain items I wouldn't purchase like any single item under $90 unless it's LEGO. The items I have purchased from them is toys or electronics. Remember, Fingerhut is a mail order/online shopping company. They have to mark up items make money. I recommend looking at the payment chart before ordering so there isn't a surprise when you receive a bill.
I've purchased two items that tore up on me a printer and a television/dvd combo. The printer wasn't Fingerhut's fault. It was old when they received the item. Many are unaware that printers can't sit on retailer shelves for long periods of time. They go out of warranty. The television went out because it was plugged into the electrical outlet instead of the surge protector shocked during a storm.
Many new customers aren't aware of the temporary credit line increases. If you use the temporary credit the limit becomes permanent. Now, if you don't use the credit within the timeframe it will hurt your credit score. I've had to learn the hard way when my score decreased 15 points. I took advantage of the $700 temporary credit which made my credit line look better for a person building credit. Fingerhut opened the door for me to have better credit. The temporary credit line increase helped me obtain cards like a Walmart Credit Card and Target RedCard. I've had the opportunity to pay the minimum deposit amount for a secured card. Don't believe all of the negative reviews. You receive what you pay for.

They are not interested in helping people raise their credit score. Once you don't constantly pay horrendous prices for their products they penalize you by lowering your credit limit and in turn they are actually penalizing you for not spending more money with them. When contacting the credit bureau they said they can't tell why your limit dropped so it looks like you are not paying your bill. While I'm not disputing their policy, it's not clear why, after years of making payments on varied dates and some later than this that I'd never received a call prior to this month.
When I expressed discontent, she apologized for the inconvenience and stated that I was a "valued" customer. She wanted to arrange payment over the phone, ok, but they had my card number and phone number wrong so I refused payment, and while on the phone with the rep, I made a payment online. She was able to see that payment had been made. She asked if I wanted to be placed on the "do not call list". I agreed and here's the kicker... she then said that I would not be able to make any purchases through Fingerhut unless I reverse the do not call request. Years of never missing a monthly payment after numerous purchases and this is how they treat a "Valued customer".

I have had a credit account with Fingerhut for a while. I make all my payments early. I have graduated from fresh start and have a good credit limit. However, whenever I have tried to order something in the last six months, they will not let me check out. They say to call them and verify my personal information before I order. I have done this and still when I am trying to order a gift for family they do this. They have done it several times. Do not expect to order a last minute gift because they will throw a wrench in it. I have been a model customer and I am having these problems. They do not do this to my mom who also has an account! It is ridiculous! They call me to tell me I have a temporary credit line increase over and over and yet here we are again! I will not order one more thing and I am going to pay off my balance. Never again!

I purchased the Chef's Mark 1.6 Cu. Ft. 1100-Watt Microwave Oven from Fingerhut on 4/7/2020. In a little over a year, the microwave has suddenly started sparking and smoking. Obviously, I have discontinued using it. I contacted Fingerhut to report the situation and was told that it was nothing they could do. Obviously, there is a problem with the product. Up until now, it has been working fine, but too all of a sudden to start sparking as if it's about to explode points to an issue with the product. A $185 microwave should not stop working after a year. In my opinion, Fingerhut should have offered some type of remedy for the situation. I will not be ordering any more from Fingerhut if this is how they treat their "loyal customers".

I opened a Fingerhut Fresh Start account in June. I placed my order and paid my deposit. I set my account up to have the minimum amount due taken from my account on the first of every month. My balance on my account was $218.00. On July the first my minimum amount due was $0. Fingerhut debited the entire amount due on the first even though they were only authorized to debit my card for the minimum amount due.
I contacted customer service. I was told that I would be issued an immediate refund and my account status would remain the same. I was lied to. I did not receive a refund and my account status did not remain the same. I called customer service again. I was told that time that I requested the entire amount be debited from my account. I informed the person that I only authorized the minimum amount due for July to be debited from my account. I was told that I would not get a refund and my account status would remain paid in full my credit limit $0. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told that it was not necessary for me to talk to a supervisor. The person hung up.
I called back and was told that I would get an immediate refund and my account status would be restored to its previous state. Again I was lied to. I did not receive a refund and my account status did not get restored to its original status. I called a fourth time and again was told that I requested the full amount to be debited from my account. I asked again to speak to a supervisor and again was told that it was not necessary for me to speak to a supervisor and again they hung up. I would not recommend anyone to get an account with them. I went to make another purchase and it showed they closed my account. I called and stated that I have made a purchase within 6 months and that I'm not understanding why because I was told and the the whole 7 years I've been a customer I've always just made 1 purchase a year. The supervisor replied "Well we can close your account at anytime." So I asked again why when I've always paid balance in full before due date to avoid interest charges, NEVER late and was making purchases. Why would they do a loyal customer like this.
She again stated "We can close your account anytime without reason" and I told her, "You said it was closed to inactivity so now you're saying they just closed a loyal customer account because you can." I feel that I was treated unfairly and shouldn't have to get another hard pull on my credit to open another account and have to worry about them just closing it because they can when they want.

I have never gotten anything but cheaply made and defective products from Fingerhut. The first item I ever bought from them was a smart tv that was defective. Many of the functions on the TV just did not work at all. The second product I bought from them was a laptop that wouldn't even turn on. I was sent a completely broken and useless laptop. I sent it back and they gave me the credit back, thankfully.
The third thing I bought from them was a wireless charger for my phone. I thought at least this product was simple enough and it couldn't possibly go wrong. I was wrong. It doesn't charge my phone at all. All it does is keep it from completely dying. After I pay off this worthless charger, I am NEVER going to buy anything else from Fingerhut ever again. I don't care how much credit they give me. If you're looking to build credit, you're better off putting a down payment on a secured card and purchasing a quality product from anywhere else. Nothing they have is worth going into debt for. They should be ashamed of themselves.

With being a loyal customer I mean I’ve referred friends and family to them and even my own father referred me to them and he’s been with them for years. One agent even said she needed additional verification of my identity and asked for my SSN over the phone. One should never give one's SSN some call center in India, unless you want your identity stolen. Consequently twice the agent said there was a prompt error on their computer and to call back in a couple hours. I'm not sure if this is how it always is, but I had a rather confusing experience, in my case Customer Support had me going back and forth for almost week because they had rather poor engagement with my question. They then basically referred me to the website help guide and failed to explain to me why legal restrictions prevented shipping of literally any item tested in my cart to my country, which is U.S. territory and available to ship to on the website (Fingerhut ships to my country).
They claimed UPS does not ship flammable materials, which I suppose included bed sheets, all clothing, all jewelry, hard drives, video games, toys and tools which gave me the same error on every single item I tested individually. They then told me (on the 5th back and forth) once they actually gave a seemingly automatic response that was somewhat relevant to check my country's guidelines, but I have ordered from multiple internet stores without any problem, there are no such restrictions on said items unless Fingerhut laces all their products with flammable liquids and thermite. Like I said they have had poor engagement with me and don't seem to analyze my question at all over email, they seem to respond with cookie cutter automatic-like messages and I wonder if there is a human answering at all.
Also worth mentioning, I tried using the phone support and they said they had no control over it and said that "certain" items could not be shipped to my country, which of course involves almost everything, they were not clear and seemed to not understand what was happening on the phone, but the lady on the phone actually understood my issue and I think she tried as best she could but simply didn't seem to have the training for the specific question.
When I asked why they said they had no control over it, which does not answer the question, also worth mentioning, each time I have called the response was very quick at least. Then finally, some hope, there was this one pair of sneakers that I was able to add to my cart, this leads me to believe it may have something to do with drop shipped items vs items shipped by Fingerhut, for those who do not know some items are shipped by the supplier directly, these suppliers may be under legal restrictions preventing them from shipping directly to you, which causes problems for some countries.
This is of course like they said beyond their control, however the low rating is due to the poor communication and me having to be the one to come to this conclusion, I pieced it together when they told me it was "legal" restrictions, that it was out of their control and that they claimed it may not be all items, no further elaboration than that was provided to my recollection, I am also yet to see a filter on their website that separates drop shipped items from in-warehouse items, or a filter that shows what you can actually add to your cart. All in all this could have been a lot faster should they have answered my original question instead of dodging it and referring me to the help section, or by telling me they don't ship flammable items without thinking twice about the claim they just made and ignoring the context by email. Just remember if you are outside of the 48 states a lot of items may not ship to you even if you are U.S. territory.

I opened an account Fall 2019. It was fast, simple, and easy, however, when you move on from your "Fresh Start" account to borrowing larger sums, Fingerhut, well, Web Bank, reports to credit bureaus that you closed an account, thus hurts your credit score. Over time, Fingerhut will offer you credit limit increase, but if you take it and don't spend money, they will 'downgrade' you, if that is what it can be called, and it harms your credit score.
Personally, although this is an illegal practice, I didn't mind because I just began using credit recently, however, since COVID-19, which made it impossible to pay off even small debts to credit lenders, Web Bank, having no options for anyone financially suffering during the pandemic, reported my missed payments as DOUBLE DELINQUENCIES. Specifically, every time they've reported me for missing a payment, they did so TWICE. On top of that, they've spammed my phone with their automated call system and have provided absolutely no assistance.
Listen, Fingerhut is a joke, a scam, and delinquencies will stay on your account for 7 years. Don't even risk opening an account. Other things have happened regarding orders that has really caused me an upset stomach, like damaged products and vague product descriptions that cause frustration after buying due to confusion, but this should be enough of a warning on top of their overpriced items and third party call service centers. Don't get involved with Fingerhut. Whoever began this business obviously doesn't care about you.

A month later I call to reopen or fill out another application whatever I need to do to keep it for my credit...This task is worse than buying a home.
Every time I call it's the same words.."Oh yes. We are berry sorry for the inconveniences. We transferred it to an account specialist. Please allow 7 days and call back"...FINGERHUT!! It's been 3 seven day waits..21 days if your math isn't good...But now I'm glad. I was right in closing it, there are many other places like Fingerhut that help build credit. Shop around, I'm glad I didn't have any issues while it was open, I'm afraid I'd really got nowhere and nobody will call you back. So, Fingerhut moved me to a regular advantage account. I check my score often on Credit Karma and it improved quite a bit. But when I was moved from the Fresh Start to a regular credit account, my score dropped 41 points! That is because Fingerhut submitted that an account was closed with them. Updated on 06/23/2021: I began my nightmare with Fingerhut at the beginning of the Pandemic (Mar 2020) of last year. I was approved for the Fingerhut Fresh Start Program and ordered a DVD/CD Vehicle Sound System. I have two issues I want to review about my experiences with Fingerhut. It all began when the Stereo I bought from Fingerhut started to malfunction. I called Fingerhut several times and emailed them pertaining to this issue. Due to the Pandemic I assume many of Fingerhut's Customer Service Team were out of work. Considering even FedEx, UPS, etc. were all facing the same Covid restrictions I decided I'd try to return the stereo the moment I was able to.
Well by the time things were beginning to run again Fingerhut decided they would refuse to allow me to return the broken stereo they sent me. I complained all the way up to a manager and tried explaining that it was impossible to return the stereo in the middle of the pandemic. I eventually had to report this issue to The BBB and Fingerhut's Response was simply a standard response of stating their return policies. Although I was EXTREMELY UPSET I still continued to pay every payment on time and paid extra on many of the payments.
A couple of months ago I paid the final payment and figured at the least that it would help my credit. You'll be amazed at what Fingerhut does to me next after paying for their expensive JUNK and expensive credit. They not only closed the account (on my credit) they also denied me the "Graduation" to a revolving Fingerhut Advantage Credit Account" due to (UNBELIEVABLE) them claiming I was late on a payment!! Which was an ABSURD LIE that is so easily disputed!
I have my entire payment history on my end and Fingerhut also stated on my credit report that I paid ALL payments on time! I knew immediately that this was clear retaliation for discussing my issue about Fingerhut publicly to the BBB. I feel like this must be illegal and I fully intend on reporting Fingerhut to the Consumer Protection... Whatever it is called. I am writing this review because I feel people should know what a horrible cheat this corporation is! AVOID FINGERHUT AT ALL COSTS! I suggest using Stoneberry.com and/or Montgomery Ward. Fingerhut is in bankruptcy protection anyways certainly for being a scam of a corporation!!
Original Review: I bought a stereo through Fingerhut in Sept 2020. I had it professionally installed and 50 days after buying it it began glitching. It started with intermittent audio issues, inability to turn stereo off and finally the sound just stopped entirely. I've contacted Fingerhut numerous times with no successful outcome! Fingerhut's RIDICULOUSLY small return window prevented me from an exchange. I have already paid 3 times the suggested retail value and I still owe $143 for a car stereo that doesn't even work! I've reported them to the BBB and have been posting bad reviews on every review site I can find. I'm trying to warn all of my similarly poor consumers that this corporation is a Predatory Lender! Be Aware! If you must use a similar lender then use Stoneberry.

These kind of actions drastically affect your credit score, and the company states they cannot do anything about it, yet they continue to practice this. This is truly an issue for the I-Team all around. Consumers beware, research before you accept. Fingerhut products are so very expensive, which is why I declined the increase. I contacted them in reference to a Stand Mixer, which was priced $190 over any mixer on another site. The Rep, she stated to me, that the company does not do matching or comparison pricing. Now here's the rub, the information the person used to sign up the account doesn't even match my wife's information except the SSN. They won't let us close the account because even though it's her social no other contact/personal info matches.
Does Fingerhut not even verify that the SSN matches the name of the person applying? Insult to injury, they won't even let us do anything at all to stop it now that it's happened; hoops and hoops to jump through. It's like they want to make it harder for the victim; maybe so the victim says "screw it, this isn't worth it" and pays for it when they start getting notices that it's going to go to collections? Seriously, if all you need is somebody's SSN and it doesn't even matter what name you use with it, why wouldn't every criminal on the planet be applying for Fingerhut accounts?
The service rep at Fingerhut just kept asking us for more and more personal/identification details about my wife. Ummmm, you have her social security number so don't you already have that information? No! Because you apparently don't check anything when somebody is applying for credit. If you give Fingerhut a Social Security Number, they'll give you an account; it doesn't even matter who's social you give them. I have held an account with Fingerhut for 14 years. During that time, their products have become shoddier, cheaply made, and more expensive. And, during that time no appreciation for myself being a responsible customer was ever shown. Their APR is currently 29.9 percent. At that time I was struggling financially, so I applied for credit. Knowing that most likely it will be people with a low income shopping for their products, you would think that they would cut them a break. And God forbid you are late with a payment; they will slap on a thirty dollar late fee.
I have not purchased anything from them in some time, but then they contacted me saying that they would close the account if I didn't buy something. Not wanting to upset my debt to credit ratio, I ordered some linens. I mistakenly ordered the wrong set, and sought to return them. They told me to print out a shipping label, and they would deduct the shipping from what they had charged me. Well, they charged my credit account thirty dollars. This seemed pretty high for a couple of packages of sheets. I sincerely doubt that it costed that much for postage. So they made a quick profit off my mistake. Because of the high fees, rude customer service, crappy products, I am closing my account with Fingerhut, and want to warn people that if they need something right away, and end up paying more than twice what the product is worth, for the dubious privilege of having credit, think please, before you buy.

First, the items for sale on Fingerhut are apparently low-end clearance items they have chosen to sell on their site. They target individuals with poor credit and low income. Since, these buyers many times have few choices in what they buy, Fingerhut takes advantage of these people charging 2-3 times the actual cost on Amazon or other online companies. They buy items at a low cost and sell at prices higher than any other retailers online. Most items are not held in Fingerhut's inventory, they drop-ship items from retailers, which further benefits Fingerhut's profit margin, but no need to warehouse the items.
Now in regards to shipping. They charge a lot for shipping, much more than they actually pay, so there is profit made on the shipping they offer. When you buy large items, they use Pilot Freight Services, which seldom delivers the items you pay greatly to have delivered. If you go to Pilot's complaints, you will find many items are damaged in transit, so then the items are sent back to Fingerhut and after a long time your credit is replenished in your account. So, it can be 2-3 weeks to regain the amount of the sale in your account. Even though Fingerhut knows very well that the item was damaged in transit, they must receive the item back and even then it takes several weeks to get the money back into your account.
I had two large items that I purchased, a mattress and a 55" television. In the former case, on the day of delivery I was called after Pilot verified that the delivery would be made, I was called during the delivery window and told that the item was damaged. So, I stayed around for the delivery and it never materialized. In the latter case of the television I ordered the item in the latter part of November and it was never actually delivered until almost January. After many many many calls to Fingerghut, which accomplished nothing, and many many calls to Pilot, who indicated that the item was never delivered to them to deliver, Fingerhut refused to give me my money back.
I had paid for the item in advance, which was silly, since they overpriced the item, despite being on "sale". It will take almost two months to get my money back, since I refused the shipment, since it took way to long to receive. I purchased one from Costco for $380, whereas Fingerhut was charging $1250 for theirs. So, despite the inflated freight charges by Pilot, in my case I never received anything that was shipped through Pilot. Go to the complaints online concerning Pilot, you will read all the horror stories about the things Pilot Freight Services handles. Many things are damaged in transit, which would suggest to me they take very little care moving things entrusted to them.
To put it simply, Fingerhut sucks. I totally get many people have no alternative, they have maxed-out their credit cards, they can't get credit, they aren't working, it's Christmas time, etc. Fingerhut seeks these people out and takes advantage of them. This will happen with any retailer that offers their own credit card. Their business model victimizes people and they do it with impunity.
One last comment about customer service. It isn't by accident that when you contact Fingerhut, you will be talking to the Philippines, all of their representatives are Filipino/a. This is not really strange, but you would expect to be dealing with a US customer service person, not so. Many times they are nice and polite, but sometimes they don't understand what you are calling about. Forget about talking to a supervisor, they can never allow you to do this. They will have to call you back (maybe), but you never know when they will be doing so.
If you write to them using their online portal, they will respond with "canned" responses that have absolutely nothing to do with the issue you are writing about. So, overall the customer service is questionable, unless you are lucky to get someone that really cares about answering your particular question or issue. I have moved beyond Fingerhut and purchase my online items at lower priced outlets, such as Amazon.com or others. I ordered two lamps from this company back in June 2020. Unfortunately I had to move early; try to change the address, but I was told by Fingerhut to call UPS. I called UPS, and they confirmed they will send my order to a UPS store. Fast forward to August, I called UPS and asked about my packages. UPS told me that my packages were delivered to my old address and I should call Fingerhut. I called Fingerhut and explained to the customer service rep about my order and I was informed to fill out an Affidavit.
I filled out the Affidavit which was rejected because my purchases were over 300 dollars and I should file a police report. I filed a police report through the Atlanta Police department and sent the form to Fingerhut. I received an email stating my claim was denied because they could not verify the officer's badge number nor police report number. Meanwhile, I am refused to pay and they could not dispute the charges. Why pay for something I do not have!. Yet again my claim is denied because the length of purchase has passed. This company is a total scam for many reasons. One, they charge at least double for an item that you would normally pay less for. Second, they promised me a 20% off coupon code which I applied, they did not apply it, I had to call four times and prove that I had the coupon code before they gave me my money back. Third, I bought a pair of joggers, returned them at my own cost, and then they gave me a $6 credit for a $38 item. And on top of that, they’ll sell the item again!!! At any cost, stay away! MY MIND IS COMPLETELY BLOWN AWAY at the TERRIBLE customer service. They accept returns within a 60 day window but they don't tell you that if they RECEIVE it outside of the window, they won't accept it either. We can access return labels from our Fingerhut account, but once it is past 60 days, they are no longer accessible. So I got the return label and mailed a couple items back and they sent me an e mail stating they wouldn't accept it because it was outside the time frame.
Mind you, I shipped the item back over a month ago. I got an e mail saying that they received a week ago but it took a week for them to process it and decline my return. First they said it was outside the window. THEN they said they wouldn't accept it because my reason for sending it back was not sufficient. So which is it? All I'm saying is that if you buy something, odds are-you'll be stuck with it. They have zero customer service skills- didn't even a one time customer courtesy credit for the items. UNREAL. I had ordered another item which increased my original shipping and when they refunded my money they did not refund the extra shipping cost for the 2nd item or my tax money. They only refunded the cost of the item. Customer service told me because I was a cash-paying customer I was not considered a client of theirs so they could not help me. I guess you're only a client if you pay 3x more through their credit so they found a way to get more money out of me by not refunding all of my money paid. I am a very time customer. I decided to pay on a safe line protection account due to health issues. When you need this service you need to send documentation, which I needed the service and sent all medical documents as requested. Safe line paid off my account in full. I had 1800.00 dollars available in credit which I earned by paying off my purchases and not having any late payments. When I went to use my account which was more than a year later they took that away from me and started me anew like a brand new customer with 300.00! So, for making sure if anything happened I wanted to make sure Fingerhut got paid and I didn't stick them with my balance, I was punished for making the right decision.
Fingerhut used to have excellent, caring customer service. Now they are rude, not willing to go above and beyond for their customers like they used to. So disappointed. I see hundreds of 1-star reviews which never used to be. I will be looking for another business that offers the buy now pay later options that actually care about their customers and go out of their way to help. Don't think trying to protect your credit plus making sure this business gets their money by using a protection that they offer is beneficial. It is not. Despite the crisis and people trying to do the honest thing and pay their payment on time they will charge you $25 the first time you're late and $40 each time after that. I purchased an item two months ago that cost $217 and to this day my balance is $240 despite making two payments more than the required payment. They do not care that you paid they care that your payment posted one day late. They will not reverse any late fees. That’s how they make their money and stay in business by charging late fees on top of the double charge of the worth of the item. Stay away from this company. I opened what they (Fingerhut) calls a fresh start account. Ok, no problem. I needed a few things, and wanted to rebuild my credit. The first round was good. Got a couple of things and paid off the account, started another one a couple months later. This was going well, until recently. They called to remind me of a payment. So I set up an automatic payment for 10/16/20, I let it go at that. 10/17/20, I get a notice that my credit changed. So I take a look, and to my shock, my score dropped over 50 points with all three credit bureaus. Because Fingerhut tried to take the payment on 10/16/20, said it was declined. How?!? The funds were there. So I had to call and make a payment on the 17th. I went ahead and paid the balance off on the 24th just to get rid of it. I'm going to close the account with them.
Before I paid off the balance, I filed disputes with credit bureaus and called Fingerhut to tell them they were wrong for doing this to me and I could hardly understand the representative I was speaking with. She "read a script" I suppose, and apologized for the inconvenience to me. That's what they always say. The representative was of no help whatsoever. Then I left a pretty detailed message on Fingerhut's messenger in the hopes of some resolution to the situation. I doubt that this negative impact they left on my credit report will be resolved, but at least I have not left my feelings about the situation unheard. I have definitely voiced my opinion.
Whatever you do, don't do business with this company. It's not worth it. Shop elsewhere. There are many other ways to rebuild or start building your credit, if that's what you're looking to do. I learned the hard way through this situation. I will never do business with Fingerhut again. I had a family member who used to always buy from them in the 90s, and she said they were good then. Well, not anymore apparently. Again, take your business elsewhere. Besides, you will find what you're looking for a lot cheaper than what Fingerhut charges for the same thing. Another lesson I learned the hard way.

I opened a Fingerhut account after my divorce because my Credit was destroyed and they are an easy account to get approved for. I've made several purchases over the last 5 years and the products were good but overpriced. But I was ok with paying more because at least I had a start to improving my credit. Well now they are trying to destroy my Credit by bullying me into making purchases. I now have 16 accounts all in good standing and a very good credit score.
Here's what they do....They give you a "temporary" credit line increase for being an "excellent customer". But the catch is that you need to spend that much to keep the increase or they take it away. In other words, if they give you a $500 increase, then you need to spend $500 to keep it or they take it away. So when the increase gets reported to Credit bureaus, your score will go up but then it goes down when they drop it back down. I complained to them about this after they did it several times and they said they said they would note my account to not receive any more temporary increases.
So a few months go by and now I receive a letter from them saying that since my account is inactive (my balance has been paid off for months and I no longer make purchases) that they are going to decrease my credit limit from $2600 to $1500 if I don't purchase something!!! For anyone who is trying to build their credit and is familiar with how credit agencies work, having a credit limit reduced affects your credit score negatively. So I either have to buy something or my Credit score will drop. I would love to close this account BUT it's the oldest account I have and that would impact my credit score negatively because credit agencies average your credit age and it would shorten my credit history. So Fingerhut is holding me hostage. Unless I buy something, I'm screwed!!! BEWARE of this company!!!

I’ve noticed most of what I’ve gotten from them has malfunctioned in some way, so just holding it open. Offered a “temporary credit increase” of $700, the catch if you don’t use it, you lose it. My credit score after paying off these accounts had risen over 70 pts. Well, since I didn’t use the $700, it showed up on my credit report as having less available credit, so therefore score dropped. I called to request that I receive no further “temporary” credit increases.
Lo & behold, I go to check my account & they had reduced my available credit by another $600 creating another drop in score. I’m furious & feel this is an awful business practice. I’ll never order anything from them again & I urge others to avoid their unethical business, especially if you’re attempting to rebuild credit. If you continue to read reviews here you’ll note this is a common occurrence. I should be the one to determine how my credit is managed, for either good or bad, not a business.

Because if you don't use the credit increase, you lose it. When you lose it, it affects your credit score negatively. I have a $1400 limit and when they increase it to $2400 I get that great boost but losing the $1000 limit, screws my credit. And this happens about every 3 months!!!! So if for instance, you get that $1000 extra and you only use $200, then in 3 months, you still keep the extra $200 increase but then lose the $800 which STILL affects your credit negatively. So, for 3 months, I can't and WON'T use Fingerhut because now they are forcing me to use their credit, then still lose credit.
I emailed Fingerhut to ask them to STOP increasing my credit but they just play dumb. It's "out of their hands". Huh? But by that time I was already in NJ.

Fingerhut is OK if you have terrible credit, but even then, there has to be better choices than buying from them. The products are 3 or 4 times what you would pay retail for and the goods are all bottom of the line products. I've ordered a couple of things from them and paid them off promptly. They do report your payment history to the credit bureaus.

I would have given a negative star if I could. I have sent emails since the 4th of May to report I have not received my order. I have not heard back from anyone. I sent another email no response. I logged into my account only to find that Fingerhut has been sending my orders to an address I have not lived at in almost 5 years, even though I have received orders where I am currently living last MONTH.
The representative "BARB" was fake, dismissive, and was more interested in getting me off the phone than helping. I asked for a supervisor 5 minutes into the conversation after I realized that she was useless, and it took her 35 minutes to transfer me to a supervisor, "Brenda", voice mail. I asked for a corporate number I was denied that. I was told by BARB to look it up. So I did 800-603-7052, but you can't get anyone on the phone. I did find out that the company's owner BLUE STEM filed for bankruptcy and the only number to contact anyone is customer service... which is USELESS.
The company's computer system changed my shipping address after I updated it.... again. Now I am being told basically I have to figure it out with UPS, and they have to do an investigation to find the shipped merchandise. I fail to see how this is my PROBLEM. They are refusing to resend my merchandise or issue a refund till they get their act together.

Problem: I ordered a $1200 tv. It was sent on a 1 star carrier and arrived late and broken from another carrier the 1 star carrier subcontracted. I asked for a replacement to be sent out immediately (while they arranged to receive this one back) since I had already waited 2 weeks for the broken tv. They refuse to do that because I am a new customer. They asked me to send the tv back in the same 1 star carrier, wait 10 days for processing, and another couple weeks for a new tv to ship by the same 1 star carrier if the claim is “approved”. That puts me at 2 months wait for a $1200 tv. They can’t even process a refund until they receive the tv back and “approve” the claim.
I have been on the phone with them 3+ hours trying to talk to someone who can resolve the issue. I even offered to pay the difference in shipping for a reputable carrier and expedited delivery. They will not offer anything and have made it clear that my situation is irrelevant to them. I paid $550 cash and financed $600 at 24% interest compounded monthly...and they refuse to replace this merchandise in an efficient and timely manner. I was told, in a condescending manner in severely broken English that sadly if I wasn’t a new customer they possibly could expedite something. Guess if I had let them screw me a couple times already and still came back for more maybe I’d be more relevant.

This is the worst company I’ve ever done business with. I ordered a pro-form treadmill from Fingerhut on 3/18/2020. The process was quick and my treadmill arrived 3/26/2020. I put the treadmill together and once I took the cover off of the display console screen I noticed it was broken. I quickly called fingerhut and a representative informed me that I would receive a new display console in 7 business days. I called back on 4/23/2020 to see why I haven’t received anything. Talked to representatives.
The First Lady informed me that I couldn’t get another one because the treadmill was discontinued.. Wow right and was told I could ship the treadmill back (at me own expense which is $110) and they’ll refund me. Now at this point I’ve already paid them over $700 and only had a $50 balance.. I express how BIG of a inconvenience that is to me that a company sent me a broken item, was dishonest about sending me a replacement item and now is telling me to ship it back with my own money is completely wrong and all she offered was credit and gift card which I informed her I didn’t want because I wouldn’t be doing business with this company again. Somehow the phone disconnect and that happen with several other reps which was frustrating.
Now I know customers can be rude and aggressive but I am not one of those customers. I called back 4/27/2020 I called and spoke to two different reps and had the same thing both time which was clearly not a coincidence I decided to called back and ask to speak to a manager without giving any information but my name. After being hold for only god knows how long I was able to explain to a manager the situation. She completely understood my frustration including the fact that I paid them over $700 before my first payment was even due and she told me I would be receiving a call from the shipping company within 3-5 business days.
When I asked for a email confirmation I was told they don’t send those which was odd. I said ok. She thanked me for my patience and that was that. It’s now 5/08/2020 I’ve received no call from the shipping company and when I called fingerhut to speak to a manager. I was told they will follow up with shipping company and give me a call which at this point I don’t believe them. You have 60 days from the moment you purchase your item to return it to get a refund and this feels like they’re just pushing it off until then. Do not spend your money with this company.

I get a b.s. response that "at this time we cannot offer any solution". That I should continue to pay my monthly amount, even if it is late they would see to it that no late fee is charged or negative action is reported. Well... let me tell you, I have been charged late fees and like the condescending, lying, usury promoting bastards they are, they have jacked up my credit info. Unfreakinbelievable!! So much for customer loyalty and when I tried to seek out some type of help or resolve, I got complete outsourced a-holes who have no clue on helping or even knowing 'how' to help you. I did send an email to Fingerhut expressing my feelings regarding this. I recently decided to use Fingerhut to order an item for my sons’ room and when I went online, I found the bed that I was interested in and placed it in my cart and proceeded to checkout. They were offering a promo code for free shipping so I keyed in the code and it took the shipping off on the item I was purchasing so I thought all was good to go and when I went to place the order it said system error and to call customer service! Which I did and they proceeded to tell me that Free shipping did not apply on that item but yet the promo code worked in the cart so it should apply because to me if the code works you have to honor it. I spoke to 4 different people at their customer service portal none of which could offer anything to assist. To me if you are in a service business and you make a mistake then you own up to it and the customer wins regardless of the circumstances.

I had a $1500 credit limit when Fingerhut offered me a $2100 temporary limit, if I were to buy a matching amount of product to make up the difference between 1500 and 2100 ($600)... I did not buy into the offer (although I did buy a few items) and when all was said and done, my limit was reduced down to $1850... Not a big deal, until my credit report came back and Fingerhut reported that my credit limit was reduced from $2100 (temporary!) to $1850, which then triggered a hit on the credit report. I called Fingerhut customer service to try to get them to fix the problem and got a runaround by their rep AND his supervisor...
I finally got so irritated that I told them to cancel my account. Their customer service doesn't seem to value their customers and their problems and only want to push problems off on others ("you need to call the credit reporting agency and..." OH Hell NO, you people are the ones who made the offer and did the reporting, not the credit reporting agency...). Did they offer to try to keep me as a customer?? Nope... Oh well, no wonder companies like Amazon are doing so great compared to Fingerhut... So, goodbye Fingerhut and I will be doing more business with Amazon...

After a long period of procrastinating & a huge increase in my available credit, I blundered into ordering some extremely reduced clearance sale items from the online catalog. I placed the orders, got the free shipping only to discover my credit account had been charged exorbitant amounts for the sale items that weren't even posted!!! I spoke with a supervisor, Ren, who told me exactly what the previous person, Tess, had said. I had the impression they had memorized what they were to say. Of course they were very apologetic about my confusion & commenced to tell me they couldn't honor the advertised price even though they had been posted online at those prices. I've never heard this much BS in my life! I was told that my items were on sale now but not when I ordered them and there was no mention of giving me the sale price now. Just an offer to give me a discount on a future order.
One jacket was advertised @ $45.97, there wasn't any other price offered but when I checked my statement it had become $73.97. The other jacket said it was 75% off and was $59.97 with the clearance but again on my statement it was posted @ $95.97. Again I was told how sorry they were but they wouldn't honor the advertised price and of course I told them that was illegal, @ least it used to be. Now I have to return everything! So in closing make sure you check your statements! The supervisor also told me the if the items had been on sale the prices would have been reflected on my statement. There was never any mention that there was a possible mistake made. The consumer should never have to worry about what a price will be once it is advertised unless it costs less but never more!
English is not their first language making it difficult for the sales reps. to understand how 'truth in advertising' works. I'm so confused about what happened I still haven't quite recovered. They credited it back to my account but what if I hadn’t checked? This company preys on those who are experiencing credit issues. They are NOT part of the solution. There are several other credit cards out there that help you build credit and they are much more reputable. I canceled this card. DO NOT APPLY FOR A FINGERHUT LINE OF CREDIT!!!

After being hospitalized for over a month, I call them to explain but was told they couldn't do anything to remove late payment reporting. I pay off half my balance and it took them 2 months to update the information to the bureaus and in the process of updating they changed the credit line amount to half of what it was original so still keeping my utilization at 100% instead of the 30% it should have been. I pay off the other half and it reflected on Experian correct balance 0.00 but kept the false account limit a month ago, but not the others. Now I get an alert that my score dropped 100pts due to them updating today with wrong information, they show a balance, an extra month's late payment, and still not the correct amount the line was for. They told me to file a dispute which further restricts you from living for an additional 30 days and definitely hinders any type of financing.
The account has never shown closed on my report or their site. When speaking with agents about the above error reporting, I was told that the available credit amount would update in 7 days after payment twice, but it never was. Now they say 30 days to close out this account which has been paid for over a month now and then reapply. Who in their right mind would sign up again for this nightmare.

I was in a bind for money this Christmas. My fiance asked me, "Why don't you try Fingerhut?" I checked them out, applied and got approved instantly. GREAT, Christmas is saved!!! WRONG!!! I went through the online catalog. I ordered things that specifically said "Order by 12:00 p.m. on Dec. 20th and get Guaranteed delivery by Christmas." I placed my order and thought I was set. I kept waiting to get emailed tracking information and never got it. I logged on Dec. 23rd and checked the tracking and it said "Shipping date pending." I thought WTH??? I called and asked, "What's going on with my order?" After a 20+ minute and being told over and over "Upon reviewing your order, it shows your estimated delivery is Jan 1st." That is not Christmas.
I argued and argued with this woman. I asked for a supervisor several times before finally blowing my top. I yelled at the woman, "YOU ARE GOING TO STOP TALKING RIGHT NOW AND TRANSFER ME TO A SUPERVISOR!" After another 20+ minutes I finally got a supervisor. All she could told me was, "It shows that your order was placed in time but was not processed until a little after 2:30." I explained to her that's not what the web site says. She then told me, "Well that is all the information I can provide you." And then hung up on me. Worst customer service I have ever had. Worst online buying experience I have ever had. Thank you Fingerhut for ruining Christmas for my kids.

They sent the $30 payment through my bank which cleared. When I checked today on their automated system it told me it was canceled. When I spoke to the service rep she never mentioned it was canceled. The second rep I talked to I told him that it had been canceled. He said the $31.02 had been rejected. Didn't know why I had just made a cash deposite the day before.
Finally reached a supervisor. She said she could refund my $30 or if I wanted to re-order but I have would have to use another card since it had been declined. I told her they must have put in the wrong info. because there was no info that something had been returned for insf. Fingerhut did not comtact me to let me know there was a problem. So had I not checked I wouldn't have known. I was so pissed. By the time I reached a supervisor I told her just to refund my money and told her I would never order again. If it is way too high (as many products are), I will just save my money and wait for a sale. The biggest problem I have are the extremely high shipping rates. And I don't appreciate that those rates are added to my monthly bill which means higher payments. I will not be buying anything more. It just doesn't add up. I also get really tired of the constant emails about my available credit and the temporary increases because apparently I am not in enough debt to them. I called their Customer Service line and told them that I received only four packages, they apologize to me about a thousand times and said, "Sorry, but these things does happen, do you want us to give you credit on your account or have the package sent back out?" I decided to have them resend back the package out to me in which I finally received. When I went online to check my account I saw that the outstanding balance was now 366.00, I was like what is going on here???
What they had done was double charge me for something I only received once, I immediately called Customer Service and complain to them about this discrepancy on my bill, they had me on hold for almost thirty minutes apologizing over again (which is what they are good for). When they finally came back on they stated that my account will be credited back in a ten days time (still apologizing). I was relieved and put my trust in them once more.
On the day before my bill was due, I went into my Fingerhut account and paid the fee due before the due date and it stated payment was confirmed. After ten days waiting patiently I received a message from fingerhut saying my bill wasn't paid, I was shocked! How could that be? My credit is in good standing and I have never had a late payment before! I called Customer Service immediately to explained why and what happen on that faulteir end, was there a glitch or something with their system because even though my payment stated it was confirmed it never went through to my bank account and the money was there waiting for them to withdraw at anytime, and now my good outstanding credit with the credit bureaus is messed up and it was not my fault!!! Again comes the apologizing, and we will speak to our supervisor (Is there even a supervisor? or one of their lies).
Moving ahead...It does not end there, before I got off the phone with them they stated that they will have their so called supervisor report to the credit bureau that I wasn't at fault, once more I have to put my trust in them.. I then went to check my full outstanding balance with fingerhut online and I nearly had a heart attack!!!
