Our editor’s take

Warranty Solutions can be a good option if you’re looking for a variety of coverage levels with varying term lengths. You can only purchase coverage through a dealership, and you should check contract exclusions to see what’s not covered. Warranty Solutions doesn’t offer as many plans as some other companies, so you may want to explore other options to get the best plan for your needs. However, you can cancel your plan and get a refund (if applicable).

How Warranty Solutions works

For over 40 years, Warranty Solutions has administered vehicle service contracts and other automotive products, including tire and wheel protection, dent repair and theft protection. The company doesn’t sell its products directly to consumers, so you need to contact a participating dealership if you want to purchase a VSC or other type of protection plan. Warranty Solutions fully insures its contracts through Heritage Indemnity Company.

Warranty Solutions is part of The Amynta Group, an insurance services company with an automotive warranty segment. The Amynta Group, headquartered in New York, also has divisions for managing general agencies and specialty risk services.

Warranty Solutions availability

You can only purchase a Warranty Solutions vehicle service contract through a dealership. The company offers plans for both new and used vehicles. However, your car may need to be under a manufacturer’s warranty to be eligible for extended coverage. Additionally, dealers may only offer an extended warranty when you purchase your vehicle. It’s best to contact a dealer to learn whether you can buy a Warranty Solutions contract for your car.

Warranty Solutions coverage and plans

Warranty Solutions has VSCs for new and pre-owned vehicles. Its 3 Star plan provides powertrain coverage for used cars, while its 4 Star plan covers major components for new and used vehicles. These plans each offer extended coverage options for additional parts, known as 3 Star Plus and 4 Star Plus.

The 5 Star plan is the company’s exclusionary coverage option. It includes coverage for most vehicle components. If you have a car currently under a manufacturer’s warranty, you can also purchase the 5 Star Wrap plan. This plan supplements the factory warranty to provide full coverage.

Most plans are customizable, with optional coverages available. Other warranty options include Mileage Select, a plan for older, high-mileage vehicles, and the Star Cool or Star Fuel plans. These two plans offer powertrain coverage plus additional components, including the cooling or fuel system.

The table below shows the differences between the 3 Star, 4 Star and 5 Star plans, since they represent coverage that should satisfy most drivers looking for extended warranties.

Warranty Solutions coverage limits

Warranty Solutions doesn’t specify its coverage limits online. Ask your dealer about payout limits when you purchase a contract.

Warranty Solutions cost

Warranty Solutions doesn’t provide quotes for potential customers. Instead, you’ll need to contact a local dealer that sells its contracts. The cost of coverage can vary based on your vehicle, the plan you choose and where you live.

The company offers varying coverage terms based on mileage or length. Its plans also come with different deductible levels, though you can waive the deductible if you take your vehicle to the dealer where you purchased the contract.

Warranty Solutions benefits

Warranty Solutions offers a range of benefits with its plans, including rental car reimbursement and trip interruption coverage. The company’s vehicle service contracts also come with 24/7 roadside assistance for towing, lockouts, tire changes, jump starts and fluid delivery.

Warranty Solutions policies

Warranty Solutions has specific policies regarding claims and maintenance. If you need repairs, you can take it to the dealership where you bought it or another licensed repair facility. Make sure you get authorization from Warranty Solutions to ensure your contract will cover the repairs.

The company requires you to maintain your vehicle according to the manufacturer’s guidelines and maintenance schedule to keep your contract active. In some cases, you may need to provide proof of maintenance if you file a claim. Receipts must show the maintenance service, date and mileage.

My experience with Warranty Solutions has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. After filing a claim, I was given two clear options by the adjuster: either they would send a full transmission to the repair facility or I could pay a $1,700 difference to have it installed. Based on that, I moved forward expecting the issue to be resolved.

Just days later, I was told that neither option was actually approved because it had not gone through proper review. This kind of miscommunication is unacceptable—especially when customers are making financial decisions based on what they’re told. On top of that, getting consistent answers has been nearly impossible. Requests for documentation and even a formal denial letter have gone unanswered for an extended period of time. The lack of transparency, accountability, and urgency has made an already stressful situation much worse. I would strongly caution anyone considering this company. Make sure you get everything in writing and be prepared for delays and conflicting information.

If any car dealership offers this to you DO NOT BUY IT. My son bought it suppose to cover tires, motors and transmission. Spoke to the car dealership when getting the car, "Oh this is great transmission engine and even the tires," but what they don’t tell you is that they will do anything not to pay for an issue. My son tried two times to use it. Oh no the bolt that the mechanic broke was covered on tire even though they broke it off. Not covered. Transmission - valve body needs to be replaced but nope that part that makes the transmission run nope not covered. The dealerships love to sell it to get commission and I believe they teach the mechanic to say in a way that it won’t be covered. This solenoid is not covered that literally makes the transmission function. Do yourselves a favor. Don’t purchase it.

Warranty Solutions continues to fraud and manipulate to the point where the documents and data show they denied all claims until I the CONSUMER have to be the expert and today alone talked to 8 agents with 4 of them hanging up the call. Warranty solutions took my money for the warranty services and now when we need help and file claim they deny deny deny. This is a history of how warranty solutions is not following the consumer protected standard.

Updated on 10/30/2025: My truck has been in the shop 31 days waiting on a approval from this warranty company. Do not buy a warranty from these guys. My name is Derrick **. My phone number is number is **. If you have questions about how this company scam people call me.

Original review: I didn’t do my research on this company at time of purchase if so I would have walk out on the sales of the vehicle. This company is terrible. I purchased a extended warranty and they are giving me me the runaround on getting my truck fixed. I have seen a lot of reviews on this company and I’m feeling sick, regret angry. The bbb needs to hear about them and why they are still in business. If you are reading this and thinking about buying this warranty run as far away as possible from Warranty Solutions.

We've had our Suburban in the shop for 4 weeks now waiting on an approval for repairs that are clearly covered by our warranty which we had extended at their suggestion. They haven't denied the claim, just keep asking for more information, resubmitting for approval, saying they didn't receive info that they clearly have been provided. My wife and I are at our wits' end. Never use this company!

I would give zero stars if I could. My husband totaled his car 3 months ago, and this company kept telling us that they would “handle” his gap coverage payment in a week or ten days. Meanwhile, it was reporting on his credit. We got a letter Saturday that our claim was denied! I quote: “Although you may have been involved in a valid loss per the terms of the Addendum, our calculation indicates that a deficiency between the outstanding balance and the primary carrier settlement did not occur.” What is gap coverage for?? This is illegal and fraud and will be reported.

Do not waste your money on this company!! They are a fraud and will not pay! I purchased the 5 star plus and had a wheel bearing to go out. I was told by the lady that answered the phone that the bearing was covered but it had to be put on a diagnostic machine first.. ok the diagnostic machine will not detect wheel bearing issues. The dealer wants $250.00 non refundable out of my pocket to run a diagnostic on it and even they said if it was wheel bearing going out that the machine would not read that. So, she said if the diognostic will not show what's wrong then it would be under normal wear and tear and the warranty would not cover!! This company should be shut down due to poor business practices!! Please buyer beware!! This is not a reputable company. Do not waste your money like I did!!

Worst warranty company to call and try get authorization to a claim up to 2-3 hour wait to get autho for claims. Company should shut down if it can't handle claims in a timely manner so never buy this plan or service with them. This comes from a garage that services a lot of vehicles and uses a lot of warranty companies.

Warning to Buyers – Do Not Trust This Warranty. I purchased a 2020 F-150 with over 130,000 miles and opted to include a powertrain warranty, which the dealership assured me would cover any issues from the engine to the rear end. They were very clear that this plan would protect me from any powertrain-related problems. Fast forward just four months and roughly 2,000 miles later—the truck began making a tapping noise. I checked the oil and found it was 4 quarts low. I immediately topped it off and brought it to a trusted shop. They discovered metal shavings in the oil, indicating internal engine damage.

I filed a claim with Warranty Solutions. It took them over a month to send out an inspector. When they finally did, the inspector dismissed the issue as "oil consumption" rather than a mechanical failure. The warranty company then required a 1,000-mile oil consumption test. After that test, they still refused to accept the shop’s professional opinion that the engine had internal damage and bad lifters, and instead pushed for a teardown to find the source of the oil leak. The original shop didn’t have the space or time to handle that level of work while negotiating with the warranty company. They also warned me that I might be stuck with a huge bill and no resolution.

At that point, I contacted the dealership where I purchased the truck. They advised me to take it to a Ford dealership. I followed that advice, and the Ford techs did everything the warranty company asked, including a full teardown. They found a heavy amount of carbon buildup due to oil leakage and recommended replacing the engine. Even with this clear evidence, the warranty company is still refusing coverage, claiming there is no definitive proof of where the oil leak originated.

This has become an endless loop of delays and shifting excuses. Meanwhile, I’m left with a disassembled truck, mounting shop bills, and a $600 monthly payment for a vehicle I can't even drive. Bottom line: do NOT purchase this warranty if you expect it to actually cover any real powertrain issues. I bought the warranty in good faith, but it has failed to deliver on every promise. Save yourself the stress, time, and financial loss.
