2021 Rav4 Prime lost 50% of EV range after year and a half. Finally have proven HV Battery is the issue and they refuse to warranty battery even though it's still under warranty. Because there's no codes stored. Yet install known good battery from another vehicle and mileage returned instantly. Yet still won't warranty battery. "Cost are too high".

We bought 2 new vehicles over a month ago. We were given a trade-in value for our car. This went down by 1500.00 when we got to finance. We were told this was because we were native American and did not have to pay taxes. What? We were lied to many times. Trying to get the 2nd set of keys that are supposed to come with the new truck. One guy said they were in the pocket of salesman who was out of town. Then he says, "No we never received the keys, you have to come in on the 1 day he is here to have them made." We have been lied to by sales, finance, and corporate. Save your money and go somewhere where they respect you even after they get your money.

I am writing this with great reluctance and guilt. Toyota has always been a great car for me and especially the Prius that I am writing about. I have owned 3 of them. However, I believe Toyota quality has decreased in the last few years. There are two plastic panels behind the rear passenger windows that are peeling over the last two years on a 2017 Prius. When I checked with Google on the internet I found many many customers on multiple websites that are having the exact same problem with just these two panels. There are the same types of panels elsewhere on this vehicle that are not peeling just the two behind the rear passenger windows are doing this.
This is a classic sign of a manufacturing defect when many other people with a 2017 Toyota are having the exact same problem with the same 2 panels. I just spoke with the complaints section at Toyota National headquarters and a problem reviewer for Toyota said that they refuse to fix these 20 dollar panels. I hope that the 40 dollars they saved is going to be worth all the bad press that they are going to receive because everywhere I can find to inform people of Toyota's lack of integrity and quality, I am going to warn people; do not buy Toyota. They do not stand behind their products anymore... Corporate GREED.

My Toyota CHR 2021 has been discontinued. Has a lot of issues including safety hazard issues, is only 19,000 miles because I am afraid of driving a car that even the front seats moves foward by itself. Many complaints direct to the Toyota Manufacturer and a lot also direct to South Dade Toyota Dealer in Homestead Florida. Right now my Lemon Law has been denied twice and my Manufacturer warranty has expired. Is really unfair that this Manufacturer Companies can abuse customer this way. No wonder this vehicle has been Discontinued.

My son and I visited Toyota New Circle Rd at the beginning of August, and he purchased a brand-new Toyota Camry 2025 for $35000. We waited for one month and received the car from the factory. On 8/17, the car did not start; our excitement was short-lived, as the vehicle failed to start within one week of our purchase. We had to call a towing company, who returned the car to the New Circle Rd store. This unexpected turn of events was not only frustrating but also inconvenient for us. On Monday, 8/19, they called and said the car was running. My son brought the car. However, the car did not start again for the second time on 8/31.
We called the towing company, and they came and took the vehicle back to the New Circle Rd store for the 2nd time. We met with Jeremy **, the assistant services manager, who was rude and had no experience with customer service and insulting behavior. He treated us negatively. We also requested a car rental because the car was still under warranty. The sales agent sent us to the services department. The services department sent us to the sales department, but in the end, we did not receive any help or support because it was a weekend.
We had a wedding and were very stressed with the car situation. Then we missed his cousin's wedding. The 2025 Camry car with 600 mileages is in the New Circle Rd store, and we are waiting for a call from the services department. This is the 5th car we bought from Toyota, and we are a loyal customer, but unfortunately, we had a bad experience with awful customer care. This situation has caused us significant emotional distress and disrupted our important family events. As a result of this experience, I have decided not to invest in or buy a Toyota car.

I bought a 2024 Toyota Tundra TRD with an off road package 1/31/24. Two things have turned me off Toyotas for life: 1) I live on a gravel road but do not drive my vehicle "off-road" - just down my 8.5 road that, during spring can be very muddy. The Toyota wheels collect mud in the rims such that, after you wash the vehicle the entire vehicle shakes violently at 45+mph. When I contacted Toyota (1500 miles on my brand new vehicle) about their wheel design flaw, they refused to do anything about it and insisted this was not a design flaw at all. I spent $4000 on new wheels and tires and have not had the issue since -- DESIGN FLAW. See pic of the wheel after a MANUAL car wash
2) When I bought my new truck I was only given 1 key fob. The dealer told me there was a supply chain issue and they'd send me one as soon as they could. When I followed up 2 months later, I was told by the dealer (Autonation in Tempe, AZ) that I had to follow up with Toyota directly as they "couldn't control" the continuing supply chain issue.
When I called Toyota, they said I was scheduled to get a letter from them in August (8 months after purchase) regarding when I might get my key fob. Guess what? It's 8/16 and no letter. I called Toyota again and was advised they could not guarantee that they could get me a key fob by the end of August. They were going to call the dealer to see if they could get me one. When I questioned this statement since the dealer had told me they couldn't control getting one, Toyota again said the dealers had to "see if they could order one". Why could a dealer not order one from Toyota? What happens if I lose my single key fob? Can they get me one then? I live 4 hours from the nearest dealer, so it's a whole day for me to "run to the dealership".

I just purchased a new 2024 Toyota Sienna Platinum. Imagine my surprise to learn that the $1415.00 entertainment system does not include a DVD Player. I learned after the sale, I had to purchase a HDMI cable, and DVD Player so my grandchildren can watch videos. In addition I received an email from Toyota telling me I had to turn on the Safety connect services which include, the SOS system, auto collision notification, remote connect (using the cellphone to lock, unlock, or start the vehicle), any destination assist (includes someone telling you how to get somewhere, and downloading the necessary map), and the Dynamic Navigation, which is the automatic update of maps.
When I called to have these services/features turned on, I was told unless I allow them to collect my vehicles data, to include driving habits, for research and data analysis, they will not turn the services on. None of this information was given to me at the time of purchase. I would never purchase a vehicle knowing this information. Now I have an expensive boat anchor in the form of a entertainment system. And since I don't actually use a cellphone, I have no way to call for help in the case of an accident since the SOS system is not connected.
Toyota needs to go back to the drawing board. Any Toyota employee who decided the vehicle will not include a DVD player should be fired. Honda, and Chrysler still include the DVD player. I know because I have owned them. No other auto maker requires you to allow them to collect date, if you want to use the SOS system or any other system that comes with the vehicle. I am weighing my options as to contact a lawyer about this issue. Toyota apparently doesn't know what the consumer wants, or they would include a DVD player and connect the Safety features without requiring the customer to give permission to collect data, (which could end up in the hands of law enforcement for any reason).

I had injuries to my spine, ribs, neck, hips, wrists, plus got a nice scar on my left cheek from the windshield awning getting blown off and slashing me in the face. Toyota said I would be receiving no paper trail of this incident, did a small investigation and closed my case. They didn’t ask how I was or even offer to help me find a new vehicle. I have purchased/owned Toyotas (6) everything from Tacomas to PriusC. I had grown accustomed to the quality that went with the brand. However, after purchasing a Highlander, my rating for Toyota has gone from a solid 5 to a 2. My Highlander had a recall for a small part in the engine. I never knew there was a recall on this part until my engine locked up at 146,000 miles and the mechanic told me it had an recall that had never been fixed. I bought this particular vehicle after said recall had been rescinded. I called Toyota Customer Care. I was hoping they would have some explanation for the lack of notification. After waiting for almost a week for them to "review", I was told they needed verification from a Toyota Service Center. I have to pay another $100 for the service center to tell me what MY mechanic had ALREADY told me...the Toyota Service techs argued with me about there ever being a recall.
When Customer Care called me back, I was told, "sorry, I know you have been a long time customer, however there is nothing we can do for you. You should have been taking your Highlander to a Toyota Service center instead of the mechanic (you've been using for over 20 years.)" Ok, so in other words, if you purchase a Toyota, you have NO CHOICE of which mechanic you can use... (even though the Toyota Mechanics I have used overcharged, misdiagnosed, and treat me as if I'm stupid). Which is why I stopped using them in the first place. So, that being said, buyer beware. Toyotas are great until you actually have a problem. So after spending years with this company I sadly have to bid them ado.

There is no way to describe how slow things are running. I put an order on 19th Mar 2024 for a Toyota Yaris And still I haven't delivered. Although I was reassured from the sales that it will be delivered within a two months period. There must be a major problem with the CEOs in Athens if they can't synchronize the production line with the market's demands. It's simpler to say it's a fantastic car, it's sold out at once so if you want to put an order you'll have to wait 3 or 4 or 5 months. The staff is polite but little help as they can do nothing. Big problem also to get the license number. More than 10 days delay. It depends from public servants' service but a huge company as Toyota could do more, even as formal complaint to who it may concern in the government. After all it's the 21st century.

DO NOT BUY A TOYOTA HIGHLANDER HYBRID!!! Toyota has a MAJOR flaw in its hybrid battery system and REFUSES to recall!! We owned 2 different model years 5 years apart. Toyota KNOWS there is an issue with water intrusion into the hybrid battery compartment that shorts out the batteries and will completely strand you! AND it sets you back $3,000 each time it happens!! They will tell you they have to perform a test to determine where the water in entering, replace sensors, and ATTEMPT to waterproof the car.
THEY KNOW EXACTLY WHERE THE WATER IS COMING FROM!! It has nothing to do with the owner not keeping the sunroof "drain tubes" clean (thanks Toyota Gallatin TN- your review is next!) Research Youtube if you mistakenly trusted Toyota and bought one of these faulty vehicles!!! The water is draining off top and entering behind the taillights! Silicone will supposedly fix what Toyota charges you $3K for!!! Just avoid the purchase altogether- new and preowned!!

I asked if there was a time limit, was also told, no problem, they have a lot of cars to fix, and they are aware of the paint peeling off. I waited, then took my car in, and they told me I was too late, program expired. They didn't care about what they told me previously and said that they were not really "Toyota" and blew me off. My experience with Toyota in Wichita KS started off nice till I spent all day till dark there buying a used car. I told them my eyes don’t do well driving at night. They let me keep the car overnight then wanted it next day because they hadn’t done the 160 point inspection. They kept the car a good 2 days. They supposedly had detailed it but it still has gunk inside and out especially in wheel wells. The CS manager called after I put in my first sad review last week. The only thing she kept harping on was the oil leak, as though I was lying. Dealership didn’t annotate it when I bought the car. My family was with me and saw the leak before I picked it up after the 2 days with them.
I told her I was very upset and that I don’t trust this dealership. I checked liquid levels. Antifreeze and windshield wiper fluids were almost nil. Had to buy my own. What else did they not disclose? I canceled the last appointment because I was NOT told I’d have to drop the car off. Why should I trust them? My past dealings with Toyota dealerships have been great but NOT this one.

Now it's running down the sides. My name has been put on Toyota dealership's list twice. Toyota is making a fortune in Prius Catalytic Converter thefts, $3K a pop for parts-only dealers only. Insurance will drop you after 2 incidents. The environmental impact of making these converters rare earth minerals is staggering; add plugged EGR valves, EGR coolers, intake manifolds, and blown head gaskets. I'm honestly so disappointed in Toyota Service and Toyota Customer Care. Got a new battery from Toyota in 2021. In 2022, there's a recall due to the connections and the battery plate. Brought it in, get the recall fixed, cool. Within the 2 year warranty in 2023, my battery is failing. Go to Toyota for a replacement, they won't replace it, only re-charge it because it's not "failing bad enough". Within 6 months and under 10,000 more miles, the battery is failing and needs to be replaced. Now Toyota won't cover it because it's outside the warranty. I BROUGHT IT WHEN IT WAS STILL COVERED! There is another recall on the battery but they haven't started fixing yet so its not covered. Complete bull. I've been loyal to Toyota for over 10 years and was looking into buying another one this year but they truly just lost my business from the terrible service standards. Also Oil was sprayed all over the undercarriage. So for at least 1000 miles that I did on a trip 1 week before my oil light coming on I was down multiple quarts of Oil. The dealership said that they would clean the bottom of the car but that's it. So not knowing what damage could possibly been done to the engine, I called Toyota and basically they said pound salt and take it up with the dealer. So I have no recourse at all. Toyota does a great job at a lot of things. Headlights are not one of them. The Prius is supposed to be about the environment as their lights blind me and give me a migraine (I had not known them before these things came out) - wonder what they do to wildlife? And they tend to leave them on all the time (in the name of safety?) - gives me a headache during the day just like at night. The SUVs and trucks are worse - but that is kind of expected for self-absorbed people that drive them as a status symbol and don't care about the environment it would seem. Few of the trucks are used as trucks - they are very pretty.
I have a 98 T-100 with 250K on it - the brights on it are not as bright as the new DRIVING lights which no one seems to use. Nissan has a lower kelvin temp headlight - I love my Altima - I guess I should support them for being better designers (I'm an architect and lighting consultant among other things) - it's all about the detail. The Toyota lights are engineered (that is about material things), the Nissan lights are designed - that is for people.
Good lighting is about the illumination of objects and shielding the source from view to avoid glare - maybe some baffles? And lower the kelvin temp - the brightness is off the charts - any optician can tell you that is bad for you. Everyone knows not to stare into the sun - now it is driving towards me!!! Fix this!!! Get ahead of the class actions suits that are sure to come. These things are unconscionable. I avoid going out driving now as much as possible (along with gun proliferation) - not exactly a stimulant for the economy.

After being told that many dealers are jacking up the MRSP due to supply issues, or they are selling at MSRP but charging a fortune for paperwork or a second key...we were then told we only get 1 key? I challenged this and pushed back hard to no avail. I spoke with the manager and he guaranteed me that if we were ever in a bind as we lost the one and only key that we would be taken care of and given a vehicle to use. I asked him if we would put that on the contract...and he would not but insisted on "trusting" him.
He told me to reach out to Toyota Canada to get help and push the matter. They of course just refer me back to the dealership to push the matter and take care of me. So I'm on a merry-go-round and It's now been 4 months with no sign of a second key. I have a 2019 RAV 4 Hybrid. Bought it brand new. The past 6 weeks my passenger back door has been filling with water after it rains. Only that door. If I open the door, move the weather strip, it pours out. No dirt is in the holes. Called corporate to see Eid. They knew why and they state do needed to take it to a dealership to get diagnosed. Made an appt, was told it was almost $200 to do a diagnostic on my car for this. Went there today and the service guy told me, after waiting 25 mins to even be checked in, it’s a “design defect” and I just needed to “deal with it.” He stated that is what he was told by techs. My car was not even looked at and I had to drive 25 mins to get to the dealership as well as take the afternoon off work to get there because they stated I had to come in during the week.
I called corporate back again and let them know what happened. Was told they can’t do anything without the dealership doing a diagnostic on my car and I would need to go back to the dealer to get it looked at. So now, I have to go back. To say they do not care about their customers is an understatement! I am so upset I bought from them. I will not be buying another Toyota again since they do not hold their dealerships accountable and blame things on defects. This is the 2nd time this dealership has stated this to me in a problem I was having with my car. The other one was fixed by another mechanic who had brains. I had to pay for it though even though my car was under warranty. Corporate cannot do anything or won’t do anything to help their customers. Horrible!!

We purchased the bZ4X on December 8, 2022, with the idea that Toyota had built a reliable all electric vehicle. We purchased the Limited, which is stated as having a 222 mile range. This is greatly overstated, as we had to charge the vehicle at least six times to drive 613 miles. Charging was another issue, as it would never completely charge even after 95 minutes each time we stopped to charge the vehicle. Toyota’s website states a full charge at home can take 9.5 hours. Based on our expectations, and what Toyota states is the expected range, we were mislead as to its capabilities.
But also based on our apprehensions as to its reliability on staying charged on a road trip, we ended up trading it for a 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid XSE on January 25, 2023, only seven (7) weeks after purchasing the bZ4X. The bZ4X is not a reliable EV. Too much time is spent charging the vehicle, and in cold weather if you run your heater it depletes power extremely fast. It may be an okay commuter car, but for any trips more than 200 miles it is not a good choice. We would like to hear from other Toyota bZ4X owners and hear about their experiences.

Toyota has this reputation for great, reliable cars. That may be true but dealing with any issues on a new vehicle is impossible. Nothing is covered. They 100% not on your side. They will actively search out and invent reasons that it isn’t their fault and therefore not covered by warranty. The only reason it exists is to cover their back for recalls. I’m so disappointed in how I was treated as a customer who bought a new car that I actually regret the purchase altogether. I had a serious brake issue that went unresolved until they could “prove” it was my fault. I’m beyond disgusted, not only with the dealership, but the corporate structure that allows customers who spend thousands of dollars on new vehicles and can’t expect a simple issue to be covered under warranty. So yeah, great cars that come with absolutely no regard for their customers.

1. I wasn't the here at the time of sale.
2. The warranty wasn't in effect at time of sale.
3. Obviously the salesperson lied to you. Do you believe everything is salesperson says? I don't and I am one.
4. You're outside of the warranty extension time period.
5. You know it was fixed that problem a new car come down and let me make you a deal.
6. Give me $1,600 and I'll fix your dash.
7. You should have enrolled in our service program then it would have gotten fixed. If you're not in the program why would I do anything for you.
8. Actually there was an awareness campaign and we were trained to look for this defect.
9. Our service department was reaching out to customers who had this problem potentially in order to get them in to fix it.
10. Our technicians aren't trained to look for cosmetic defects.
11. We don't do warranty upsells not sure how that plays into number 9.12. When you came in to get your AC replaced my technicians would have had latex on making everything they touch sticky so they wouldn't have noticed a problem when they took your dash off and no one would have done a thorough report.
13. Since you've had it this long why not just keep going with the problem
14 I'll do the install if you buy the dashboard from me
15. Why did it take you so long to bring it up?
16. The only way my technicians can fix a problem like that is if you Google it or research it yourself then come in and mention it that would allow us to fix it under the warranty extension. Otherwise we wouldn't have mentioned it
17. We sent a letter informing you of this (this letter apparently went to the wrong address. I never saw it. When questioned they indeed had the wrong address although their sales department sent hundreds of advertisements to the correct address for purchases of new vehicles). Mr ** stated, "Yeah our sales department is up on all of the current addresses, our warranty department is not."
In 2014 two class action lawsuits were filed against Toyota for melting dashboards. The company apparently was aware all the way back in 2005 that this was an issue. The national highway transportation and safety administration recognize this as an issue with specifically Toyota Camrys. News agencies across the state of Florida did investigative reports on this issue all prior to 2015 which is the time I purchased my vehicle. The warranty extension wasn't effect and appears as though would have been an effect all the way through 2020. Toyota was also admonished for charging customers exorbitant fees to repair the dash when they knew it was a manufacturing defect along with delaying repairing the dashboards due to an inventory shortage according to the lawsuits.
Mr ** appears to be more interested in selling new cars than the safety of his customers as outlined in several class action lawsuits and the national highway transportation and safety administration. If you're in a position like this do not feel as though you have to purchase a new vehicle look at the facts check everything that you're being told. There may be a good possibility that you're able to get this problem fixed free of charge. I will continue to press Ryan ** to abide by the warranty extension program is 160 Point vehicle inspection at time of sale Southeast Toyota's guidelines for financing a vehicle informing on social media and consumer websites as well as regulatory agencies that would have oversight over this kind of behavior.

UPDATED 03/07/2022: I purchased a new 2017 Rav4 from Toyota of Rock Hill. One of the freebees we were offered was “free oil changes for the first 30,000 miles”. This was really an oil change at 10,000 miles and one at 20,000 miles. At 10,000 miles I took my new Toyota in and had the oil changed. I was working for the public schools at the time and the automotive shop teacher told me I did not want to change the oil on the recommended 10,000 miles, that I should change the oil at 3,000 or 5,000 miles as I had always done.
Toyota of Rock Hill refused to change the oil “early”, so at 15,000miles, I changed the oil myself. I drained oil and I removed the oil filter. The oil filter was packed, I repeat packed with dirt and sand! I’m not sure how this could have happened by accident. I could not have offended anybody in the shop. I did not come into contact with anybody at all… At 20,000 miles I again changed the oil and the filter was very clean. I do not know why this happened, but I will never let any Toyota service department touch another vehicle of mine again.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: I have purchased many new Toyotas over the past 25 years. The autos have been great. 2004 Solaria, 2006 Solaria, 2006 Rav4 and a 2017 Rav4. I drove the Solaria for 450,000 miles total and the 2006 Rav4 is coming up on 200,000 miles. The newest Rav4 will turn 40,000 miles soon. No mechanical problems of any kind on the older Toyotas. The new 2017 Rav4 had some issues.
The one major problem has been with the new tires that came on the two new Rav4s. The tires were manufactured by Yokohama and have had a number of problems. On the 2006 Rav4 the tires did not last. Maybe 30,000 was all. After several calls Yokohama I was told by somebody on the executive staff that “We can manufacture better tires but we manufacture these tires to Toyota’s specifications.” The Toyota dealer would not stand behind the tires even though we purchased a warrantee package which cost the equivalent of a set of four tires $600. The 2017 Rav4 had a flat spot or broken belt on one of the four tires. The dealer would not stand behind the problem. Four years and 40,000 miles later and the Rav4 still makes a loud vump, vump, vump noise. It has really gotten under my skin!
A second major issue with the 2017 Rav4 is the automatic radar braking.• Moving through traffic at speed limit speeds if you try to pass a car and come close to the vehicle, sometimes the radar will engage the brakes unexpectedly. It may even brake very hard.
• Trying to pass a car on a two-lane highway when you come close to the vehicle, the brakes may come on unexpectedly. It may brake very hard. This is very dangerous if there is a car coming at you in the other lane. You can’t pass the car you were trying to pass and you may be stopped by the oncoming car as well.
• If you are going around a curve and there is a guard rail next to the road the brakes may come on unexpectedly. If you are on a slippery road the back end will kick out and the car will spin!
• If you are on a hilly road the radar may see the hill as a solid object the brakes will come on unexpectedly. Unexpected braking in heavy traffic may get your Rav4 rear ended.
The problems are even worse if you use the cruise control. I never use the cruise control at all, it is just too dangerous. I talked with the dealer many times about the problems and the dealer pooh poohed the issues and refused to write up the problem.

So back in 2017 I had an auto accident where I was found not at fault and I was given a large sum of cash from my insurance to help pay for a new vehicle. During the time of obtaining the funds I decided to try to head back to Toyota and get another Toyota Camry Hybrid as this was my all time favorite vehicle and to this date and time still is.
Well needless to say me and my wife head down here and I was approached immediately which I told one rep I was here to buy a new Toyota Camry Hybrid. He attempted to ask me sales pitch questions like what's my number or figure I am looking at with cash down and what kind of payment. I immediately told him to give me time to go over the features in the vehicle, colors available, and pricing.
The sales guy agreed and showed me the lot and long story short he once more once near the vehicles asked me again about price, down payment, cash or financing and I cut him off and said, "Look I won't say that right now, because I need to see the vehicles and colors." Once I located the one I wanted I simply asked what is the overall price of the vehicle I found. He then tried to gain more information on what I wanted and again cash flow.
I told my wife we were leaving. I am not going to waste my time with this guy. I simply never dealt with this before as this must have been a new tactic by this particular person, but the last sales guy I dealt with was not even close to being this ignorant or pushy. I went to another dealer which was not the same model I wanted, but nonetheless I did not deal with any of the aggravation I dealt with here.
The reason I kept this information from the sales guy was simple. They use that information against customers. Colors, features, cash down, and financing is easy to push a higher valued vehicle with more features than I wanted or needed. I know this, because my Uncle was a Salesman and taught me what they do. All I simply wanted to do was point out the vehicle I wanted to explain all the details afterwards.

OK, at first I loved this car bought it used with only 29,000 miles on it. It's very attractive and pleasing to the eye. Love the Sea Glass Pearl color. Now, having driven it 15K+ miles, I feel it is important to share some observations. Great mileage, you bet. Easy maneuverability, yes. So what is the issue? Visibility!! It is poor. The back door split design stinks. The car is low and with the little mini windows in front of the regular windows, it is a challenge to see some things that a higher car with single windows allow for.
If you bump into anything, you are talking a major repair as the entire bumper needs replacement. That costs almost $800. And, it has happened to me twice. Once backing up at dusk with a ships anchor in the dirt along the fence, not visible because of being too low. Second, hitting a part of a broken wall that, again, was not visible due to being too low. I AM a good driver in case you're wondering but my height and the cars proximity to the ground make it a quick victim of any really low edifice even parking concrete bumpers. I thought this was going to be great but the visibility has changed my mind. Other issue, the cockpit design with the raised storage between seats is very inconvenient. This was obviously designed by a man and not a woman. Toyotas in general are getting a bad rap since assemblage in the US of A. Used to be great cars. I'd say try something else!

Lets examine how Toyota treats its customers. Helped my 76 old mother purchase a new Corolla Hatchback as my dad suddenly died before they could go car shopping. I needed to wait for the state license plates to arrive so as to replace the plastic dealer branded plates. I find that the the rear dealer plate had been attached to the rear bumper cover using two shorter self-tapping screws. There are two 2" x 2 1/8" holes completely through the bumper cover, exposing the internal aluminum structure of the bumper. Just above these are screws holes with metal clips. These are for mounting Japanese license plates, but are not even usable for that as the metal clips have no internal threads. Toyota's solution for attaching American plates is to attach the plate directly to the bumper cover large screws that are typically used here to secure metal siding to a farm building.
The front license plate bracket has snaps to the front grill along its bottom edge. Toyota's solution for attaching the top of the license plate bracket and the top of the plates is to use even two larger screws through the front of the grill. The front license plate bracket is not a Toyota part, but something one of their distributors or dealer put on. Likely one of their distributors as it has holes for American, Japanese and Australian plates, which are are screwed into the front of the grill. Even if this had been an official Toyota part, it would still attach to the front grill in the same manner.
This not only damages the car, but prevents the use of any aftermarket license plate brackets as these rely on machine screws that fit into internally threaded screw holes. I have used aftermarket license plate cases for year as they protect the license plate from the environment and protect the car from the license plate. Toyota instead expects you to screws the plate directly onto the back of the bumper cover where it will be unprotected and scratch the car.
Toyota has gone out of its way to hide this fact form potential buyers. Every single photo of this model on their website, printed materials and inventory searches has a simulated license plate over the rear bumper cover so you can see the two large holes and metal clips for Japanese plates as well as four small circles indicating where to drill holes for American plates. Every single photos of this product does not show a license plate attached to the front of the vehicle at all. They have also digitally removed the small "drill here" dots from the front grill.

The front driver seat's edge of my 2019 Toyota Highlander is completely smashed and it makes driving and especially getting out of the car very uncomfortable (not even talking about the look and value of the 3 year old car). I noticed the problem almost a year ago, since then it's been getting worse and I asked for the seat replacement last December, when the car was 2 years 8 months old and still under the full warranty. I went to the Desert Toyota and a manager there found my complaints reasonable and submitted a claim.
We got a response from Toyota in about a month and they refused to replace or fix a seat under the warranty saying that it's simply an "outside influence". I believe that it's ridiculous since I weigh 120lb and have less than 30,000 miles over those years. Moreover, this is my THIRD Toyota Highlander. I've had the previous one for about 10 years and no problem with any of the seats with the same usage. Obviously something was wrong with that seat from the beginning and it should be replaced under the warranty.
Otherwise, if it's just normal wear and tear according to Toyota, what kind of garbage was it made from if it won't even last three years with average usage? I'm not even talking about other minor issues that we've been having with that car. My previous Toyota started having more serious issues but only after about 7 years of usage. They were talking about my contract and which line of the contract indicates that I am still forced to pay interest charge if I don't make any payments. I mean are they stupid? I know if you don't make payments there will be interest fee and that's why I called them so we can extend the payment period. They did not care at all.

I've owned 3 Toyota vehicles in my years of driving and all 3 of them have broken down. I had a 2005 Toyota Sienna with under 130,000 miles and it had all kinds of problems before my parents gave it to me. Bad suspension, replaced all 4 wheel bearings at least 5 times, all kinds of problems with the brakes and power sliding doors. When I took ownership of it, a couple weeks later the A/C went out and the power steering pump started to fail. I sold it to a man who kept it for a year before it got too much to fix and it was parted out. What a piece of Junk! My second Toyota was a 2005 Camry SE, It also had lots of problems with the front suspension, and A/C. The clutch went out on it at 70,000 miles and the master cylinder for the Clutch went out twice and stranded me on the side of the road. It also leaked oil like crazy, I kept taking it in to the shop multiple times.
I eventually got rid of it when I found out the Engine was burning a lot of oil and needed to be rebuilt. Finally I owned a Lexus LS430, which almost killed me, I had it for 4 months and put $5,000 into repairs. The Engine which I'm told is one of Toyota's best made is the 4 liter V8, kept stalling on me. One day I went to start it and the Engine caught on fire. Horrible!! I gave it away after that for free. I will never own another Toyota again, too many problems and too expensive to fix. Right now I drive a 10 year old Ford Focus with 170,000 miles and no problems. Sad!

The 2014 RAM 3500 I owned had a substandard design. Back to Toyota, its website is pretty easy to get around. Toyota’s one drawback is its pricing, especially for its trucks. Having owned several Toyotas, I considered them to be good reliable vehicles and never had a reason to question the warranty. After 6 months and about 3,000 miles I noted that my rear taillight assembly was lost. At the Sweet Toyota dealership, the body shop manager noted that there was no damage to the taillight and offered that one of the 2 screws attaching it to the body must have been over-torqued on installation. The 2 screws go into a metal clip embedded in the molded plastic taillight unit.
My local dealership offered to split the $180.00 cost for a new unit because Toyota would not consider that as a warranty part. The help line at Toyota told me they would reimburse me up to $100.00 if I sent in a receipt because I was such a good customer. Why was I asked to play these games? Why doesn't the dealer and Toyota handle this without involving me and my money "up front." Please note, this wasn't a light bulb, it was a molded plastic unit similar to a plastic bumper or fender piece. Maybe Toyota should list what items are actually covered under their warranty rather than simply excluding fair wear and tear items like tires and wiper blades. What are the odds that I will consider Toyota for my next new vehicle?

The dealership's service department had cross-threaded the oil filter, causing the leakage. Several months later we received a bill from the dealership for towing and the rental car (they gave us a rental and hauled the car back to the dealership on a rollback). We, are afraid to do further business with Toyota or, their dealer. Nothing preventing them from loosing a few transmission bolts, engine, etc.
Bottom line, Toyota, could care less about the disingenuousness of their "partnership counterpart - i.e., the dealer." Sadly, this has caused us to consider having to get rid of the vehicle due to these unresolved issues, lack of service, lack of product support and, moreover, lack of professionalism. I am very, very disappointed. We, will never purchase another Toyota based upon this experience. In 2015 I went to a dealership in Lawrence, KS where I was approved for a car loan for the RAV-4 hybrid. In hindsight I am not sure I should have been approved for the loan. I told them how much I thought I could afford a month with insurance included. They quoted me a price, when I said I couldn't afford the insurance the floor manager said that he would make a phone call then sold me liability insurance. He said I didn't need comprehensive insurance only liability. After a few months I realized I couldn't afford the payments. I went to the dealership in the new state I was living to ask for advice about what to do in my situation. They insisted that I go in person to speak with one of their sales reps.
When I arrived the sales rep I was assigned was relentless. I got flustered, I had mentioned several times I needed to leave to take the night to think about what to do however, I ended up leaving with a car I didn't want. I was a single mom, my daughter was getting restless. When signing the paperwork we looked into switching the insurance plan over to the new car, that is when I was told that legally I was required to have full coverage insurance on a car if you have a loan. In the end I left with a car I didn't want because I thought it would be affordable but cost me the same. Since I have had this car (2016 Prius), the handle came off when I went to open the door.
The dealership said they wouldn't cover the cost because they determined it had come off due to someone forcefully opening the door. Three years after having the car the AC stopped working. I was told it was due to the air conditioning radiator damper servo sub assembly malfunctioning. I was told again that Toyota would not cover the cost to repair it and it would cost me over $1,000 to repair it. I do claim responsibility for my naivete and for not educating myself more before walking into a car dealership. My experience was not great. I suspect the dealership in Lawrence is manipulating paperwork to give loans to people who would otherwise not be approved for those loans. And erroneously advising customers to purchase liability insurance. I will never buy from Toyota again. I would never advise anyone to.

My wife thought that it meant low oil so she took it to a Jiffy Lube. They performed the normal oil change service and scanned the computer to see why the engine light was on. They told her that it had a history of setting off the check engine light & trouble codes for the air injection system & that the dealer charges about $4000 to fix that, so they just keep clearing the code, which clears the engine light, and sold it to us without fixing the problem.
At the time it had 145,000 miles and was within the warranty (that we didn't know about). The dealer told us that there was not a warranty and kept trying to sell us an aftermarket warranty when we bought it. My wife told me that she got the oil changed & the paperwork was in the console, without telling me everything else. Now: two months ago it did it again but put it in limp home mode. It is now setting in my pasture broken down & waiting for repair because Toyota refuses to fix it under warranty because it is now 154000 miles, 4000 beyond the warranty, even though we bought it within the warranty mileage and it messed up right away and showed a history of having this problem before we bought it from the dealer. Toyota after being forced by the NHTSA to recall 2006-07 Highlanders and 08-09 Camry skated extending that recall to 2008-10 Highlanders due to lower sales numbers and failure rates caused by our countries recession then. Supporting a company by buying vehicles from a company that conducts business this way is a mistake that misleads us all. Stay away from Toyota for the safety of your loved ones.

LC (Prado) seems still a reliable choice. Bought this in Switzerland, but all LC 150 are produced in Japan directly, so quality should be the same worldwide. That is the main reason for its reliability anyway. This facelift is so far (50000 KM) as well built as the predecessors. No problems whatsoever. The facelift overhaul got also rid of some design issues inside, like outdated looks and feel. Still Toyota and most Asian cars look a bit outdated (like 10 years back) inside compared to German cars for e.g., but the Toyota wasn't bought for superior gimmicks but for long lasting performance.
Navigation is good, but a bit slow to pick up when booted. That is the only bad thing I could complain about. Missing functions: Smartphone integration does not have access to external antenna (shark-antenna only used for radio reception it seems) like even 10 year old "premium" Volkswagen/Audi/BMW/Mercedes etc do have. So your device will need to get out of the Faraday-cage inside the car, which deteriorates speech quality and introduced a lot of unnecessary EM-pollution to all passengers/driver easily exceeding exposure limits. This is true for all Toyota cars unfortunately. Also noise cancellation is inferior too...
But this car shines with superior durability and offroad performance. Superior interleaving and 4 wheel drive. Excellent upgrade options. Only Range Rover Defender (useless for daily drive req. though) and G class Mercedes (overpriced) are a match of still produced cars. Engine is 2.8L Diesel with Toyota tuning to 200HP. In Europe Toyota is no longer selling the big LC 200 due to emission constraints.

Well, it is a Toyota so I bought a 2019 Avalon XLE Hybrid primarily for its reliability. However, it has two major flaws. Firstly, it is supposed to provide 43 mpg, but actually it is a lot less. Currently, it is 34.6 mpg. Secondly, for a pretty luxurious car I expected it to have all the safety features for which Toyota is famous. Unfortunately, it turned out that it is missing Intelligent Clearance Sonar and Parking Assist. When I called Toyota and asked if these features could be installed, I was told that it was too complicated. Big disappointment.

Purchased my Tundra new in 2002. I cared for this truck inside and out except when it came to my rusted and unsafe frame. My truck is in excellent mechanical condition and I get a lot of compliments on its appearance. Everything works great with 107,000 miles logged. My mechanic says he probably will not be able to pass the truck for inspection within a year or so. His advise, get rid of it and trade it in. I usually like to sell my trucks outright but he says that I will create a bad situation to sell it to a friend or a private party.
So, I have driven Toyota cars all my life and I really take care of them. There is nothing wrong with this truck! Because of the safety issue I will need to trade my vehicle (while I still can) on years before I should need to. Toyota claims there is nothing they can do and it's my problem. Bottom line, I will never purchase or lease another Toyota vehicle and will let my children, friends and others know. Bad customer service! Toyota has lost a customer(s) for life. Unfortunately a header cracked in our Highlanders engine and caused the entire engine to blow at less than 84,000 miles. As the mechanic at the Toyota dealership put it, "This shouldn't have happened." After contacting the Customer Experience Department I was told that financial assistance in these situations is based upon customer loyalty and service records. We own a second Toyota that was purchased at a Toyota dealership a few years prior to our Highlander.
Additionally, I offered to provide my service records but the Customer Experience Department already decided they weren't going to help us recover any of the loss. The cost to replace the engine was $7,500. Toyota could have easily offered to pay $2,000 of the cost and kept me as a customer but apparently making intelligent business decisions is not a top priority for the Customer Experience Department. In total I gave Toyota over $60,000 for two automobiles in the last 7 years. My wife and I are in our 30's which means we will probably purchase another 10 cars in our lifetime. If half of those were Toyota's at an average cost of $30,000, that is $150,000 in revenue they just gave up because they refuse to assist a loyal customer. Congratulations Toyota, I will never buy another one of your automobiles again! You have officially lost me as a customer for life.

Ever since I bought my new 2018 Toyota Highlander last August I’ve been accumulating an unreasonable amount of paint chips. I ordered Toyota’s touchup paint after my first service visit however, it was too cold to apply at the time. Since then I’ve accumulated over seventy paint chips mostly on the front of my car. The chipping is only on the metal parts not any of the plastic parts. I took my car to the Toyota dealer with my concerns and their Service Manager told me to call corporate Toyota. My Case Manager there opened a case and then told me to call the Toyota dealer for further instructions. I called their Service Manager and was told to take my car to a body shop and get an estimate. I took it to the closest body shop and they said it appeared the paint was applied “soft” then he gave me an estimate.
A couple days later my Toyota Case Manager called again and told me the Dealer should’ve sent me to a specific auto body shop because they needed paint tests done. She sent me to a Toyota certified body shop where the owner took my car into their shop and looked it over. He then walked me over to another Highlander that had 52,000 miles to compare, there weren’t any paint chips on it. The shop owner told me there is an “excessive amount of paint chips for a car of my age and mileage”.
Long story short my Toyota Case Manager called and said there is nothing they can do for me because all the paint tests were within a normal range. My car was purchased in August of 2018 and is only 7 months old and already needs a new paint job. The paint chips started when I bought the car and every day I drive it I accumulate even more paint chips. I now have a seven month old car that already need a new paint job. Despite two separate body shops saying this is not normal Toyota says it is normal and refuses to do anything about it.

I have owned 5 different Toyotas for over 20 years and can not believe what corporate told me about my 2018 automatic transmission problem. Because I live in Wisconsin we can have problems with tires spinning on snowy days. Toyota said that because my car's front tires spun and the back tires did not move that the broken transmission was my fault. It has less than 25000 miles and should have been covered under their bumper to bumper warranty. They say they will pay for the transmission BUT I must pay for the labor cost of over $800. All sounds fishy to me. On top of it Toyota corporate says that if the same conditions occur in the future I should call for a tow and not spin tires at all!
They say they will deny any future claim, under the same circumstances, as they are this one. They, also, could not (or would not?) tell me what part of the transmission is broken. I plan on going on social media to warn any potential owners of 2018 and beyond Toyota autos with automatic transmission, if you live in cold climates please think twice about buying one of their cars. I purchased a 2018 Toyota Highlander Ltd Platinum from Classic Toyota in Tyler Texas. My Toyota purchased was based on commercial and current owner reviews. Other than the “color transfer” issue (dyes from my years old and routinely washed scrubs and jeans coming off on the leather seats), I’ve been relatively happy with the car. The thing that has driven me crazy are the electronics. I came from a BMW, that was too small and uncomfortable, but drove great and I guess I got spoiled by their electronics. I could have 2 phones connected and receive calls on either of them on Bluetooth. Not on the Highlander (JBL GreenEdge). It takes 5 or 6 button pushes (while I’m driving!) to change from one paired phone to another. It also occasionally just drops the phone in the middle of a call and I have to reconnect.
The weather app also is rudimentary, at best. It never gives me the weather for the area I’m in. If I’m in downtown Dallas, it gives me the weather for Terrell, TX (40 miles away, a 10th the size of Dallas, and a town I’ve never looked up on my weather app)!!! I called Entune (a cumbersome worthless app IMHO) support. She was very pleasant, but completely useless. She looked at the manual. I read the manual! I needed more! Apparently Toyota doesn’t offer more than a crappy inefficient app, bad connectivity, and a GPS (for the weather) that hopefully doesn’t have to ever locate you in case of an accident!

The only thing that this car could not withstand was one time when I was unfortunately stuck up on a block ice and snow that the plows left on the road on an exit ramp in the dark. My complaint: The issue of tan color leather seats and dye transferring. Toyota being aware of the issue and not standing behind their product. I recently purchased a 2016 Toyota Avalon. At the time of purchase I purchase the extended. During the first two weeks I noticed that the tan leather seats were changing colors. On the seat and up by the shoulders and in the driver's seat were dark. I reached out to customer service Nationally and locally for assistance on this issue. I was informed that this is what Toyota call transferring. Which means that the dye from the clothing that I was wearing was transferring onto the leather seats.
I was contacted by the local service manager at Sunnyside Toyota who informed me that they would do a one-time courtesy cleaning of the leather seats. She informed me this is not a Toyota issue. It was the clothing industry issue. I explain that the leather had not been treated properly because dye should not be transferring that easily to this leather and I wanted to bring the car back. Her reply was, "Cars are not like an item you purchase at Target. You can't just return it." She suggested that I trade in the car or I could possibly buy seat covers. Seat covers to cover the leather seats in my car... When I asked if they, the dealership, carry the seat covers she suggested I buy them aftermarket but I needed to be sure that I purchased seat covers that allowed for the airbags in my car. That when we start to go to local dealership to get our car check for every 5,000 miles. After about the fifth time we go there, they told us that the nitrogen metal valve stem caps have melted or got stuck in the tire so they can't get the tire pressure reading. They told us that we have to pay $600 to get THREE of them fixed. But that is just straight up dumb, the warranty should have paid for it.
We have a 3 year warranty on the car. But, they were just repeating themselves and not offering any help. They were saying how Toyota doesn't put metal valve stem caps in their cars and they put plastic caps so it don't cease. They told us that we have to call the dealership that we brought it from to tell them about it and what to do. Well, we called the dealership and they said that they do put metal valve stem caps, but it is insulated so it don't get stuck in the tire. Pretty much both dealerships were being jerks and not admitting whose fault it is and making us pay $600 while it was clearly one of them's fault. It was a terrible experience.

It would be a 1200 well spent. I'd love to say that when I bought this car I took care of it just like the previous owner, but that would be a lie. I beat the car to hell, I didn't change the oil once in 4 years, not a filter or spark plug. I did nothing for this car the entire time I owned it except replace tires to pass inspection, replace wheel bearings, and put gas in it.
This year I took it to be inspected and there is rust on the gas tank and other places and repairs would cost about 1000 dollars. From the time we walked on to that lot was a nightmare. I should have turned around. First off, while making a deal for a trading my vehicle they kept my car key. I asked several times for my key back so I could leave. Not sure if they thought this was a tactic. Rest assure it was not. After about 1.5 hours of waiting (they would keep going back to GET MY KEY) and coming back empty handed we finally agreed to some numbers and went through with the trade/sale. We paid $2,600 for an extended PLATINUM TOYOTA warranty that was to EXTEND the warranty 100,000 miles. Once we were done, we were about to leave and we asked for the pre-certified paperwork. They tried to tell me that it was pre-certified. I looked at the windshield-huge sign that said-PRE-CERTIFIED. It was well under the mileage and the year was 2014. We had to fight to get that paperwork.
Then they had to have ME bring the vehicle back to THEIR lot a week and a half later to COMPLETE the pre-certification inspection. THEY NEVER DID A PRE-CERTIFIED INSPECTION? On top of that, took the vehicle in about 1 year later due to the fan on the AC going out. The guy told me that it was almost out of warranty. Are you kidding me? We paid $2,600 for an extra 100,000 miles and I sure as hell know that we did not get even close to the original 100,000 miles.
Later that week my husband called to talk to them. He got the runaround (I am sure most of you know exactly what I am talking about here). Sooo, he went to the car lot. What??? So he and my husband called to Toyota finance office and the lady said "Yeah this is suppose to have an extended (EXTENDED) warranty." The finance guy told my husband that he will email the information to him that day.
About an hour after my husband got home he still did not have an email with that EXTENDED warranty. So he called the finance guy. He was told "Oh, I am sorry I can not honor that extended warranty". Are you ** kidding me??? Then we called to cancel the extended warranty and were told well since you have used 3/4 of the warranty you will be prorated at 1/4 of the $2,600 we paid for it. WTF Explain this to me... and I am a blonde but am smart enough to know we do NOT need to warranty 100,00 miles we ALREADY have warrantied. Why in the HELL would we pay $2,600 for 100,000 mile warranty when we have the FACTORY 100,000 mile warranty? We would NOT do that. We were to have an EXTENDED warranty. Do they even know the definition of EXTENDED?
Hell no, they do not know crap. I will never step foot back on their lot or any lot they are associated with. They purposely lied and deceived us, the finance guy admitted it. But still got screwed. I am writing regarding my concern about a technical service bulletin that I recently became aware of. My husband and I keep all documentation from our cars and mailings that we receive and to be honest we do not have anything in our files that Toyota sent us regarding the oil consumption problem. I have a 2009 Matrix that I purchased at the end of July 2008. Recently I have had to put between 2-4 quarts of oil into my car in between oil changes. Recently when I had my car at my mechanic he was the one who mentioned this issue to me so I contacted the dealership in North Attleboro where I purchased the car 10 years ago. The person that I spoke with told me to come in and they could start an oil consumption test and if they found anything he mentioned they would replace the pistons and look to see what else needed to be done.
Today when I brought my car in I was informed that I was no longer eligible and would have had to had this completed by the end of July since that is 10 years from when I purchased my car or 150K miles whichever came first. I am currently at 128,000 miles. I am very frustrated that they have extended this program but have no flexibility in helping a customer when it happens a couple months after they are out of the 10 year period. As mentioned I am still under the mileage.
I called the customer care line today and spoke with a woman who could only read me verbatim what I already knew and could not offer any other resolutions. I am saddened that Toyota does not stand behind their products with known issues when they happen outside of a certain time period. I will be submitting something to the BBB to and the reference number for the contact I have had with Toyota is **. I would hope that others who have this same issue are offered a solution. I have owned two Toyota Camrys (1999 & 2005). The 1999 was a V6. I don't need to be specific other than to say, if you want drive a car that can easily last more than 200,000 without the expensive repairs, this is the brand to consider. Toyota should definitely earn the "Most Reliable Japanese Car" award. Look around when you're driving. What do you see most? Toyotas, BMWs, Hondas, etc. I don't remember any rental car companies that use Toyotas, which means every Toyota you see on the road are either owned or leased, and not rented. (I might be wrong, btw.) So, something for you to consider the next time you're in the market to buy cars.
Tip to all the Toyota owners: If your "mechanic" tells you something is bad and your has less than 75,000 miles, he is lying to you. I have brought my Toyotas to many local shops (to save money from dealerships' exaggerated cost for repairs) and they have suggested to replace the water pump, the radiator, this or that. I was wary and skeptical with their scare tactic approach, so I didn't fix it at that time. Now, 7 years later and with 127,000 miles, it's still running smoothly. Of course, you still have your routine maintenance that needs to be replaced every few years (air filter, tires, batteries, etc).
One mechanic told me, "A Toyota with less than 100,000 is still considered almost new. You just have to make sure to change your oil every three to four thousand miles and tune up your car every now and then." These are his words, not mine. My owner manual states every 5000 miles for each oil change, but I think that also depends on how you drive it and how frequent it is driven. You can save a lot of $$$ if you buy it used.
Bottom line is, if you want a car for the long-haul of saving money for many years to come, you should definitely consider buying a Toyota. Now, sometimes I wonder why Toyota owners even own Toyotas. I know I drive it because this car was handed down to me and I'm just waiting for it to break down. I mean, let's face it: Tundra drivers don't drive it to haul stuff. (There are many other stronger trucks.) You can't show off your social status with an Avalon. (Again, there are way more other choices.) You can't pick up girls with Camrys. (Not sporty enough to be a sport car and not luxury enough to be a high-class car.) A Corolla is good for what? Prius are well-known for their electric cars, which have been in high demand this past decade. In my opinion, I think you will want to get rid of your Toyota before it will stop working on you.

It could accelerate and stop okay. Also side to side was fine. On the highway it drive same as the other cars. It handled okay at high speeds. But I once had to take it to Toyota because I notice the headlights stay on during drives. Then, sometimes the battery would get too hot and I need to pull over to let it cool off. Mostly it was fine if it was watched closely. Also, the airbags needed improvements. I got a notice sent to me saying that they were in recall.

I can make it up my drive way during the winter. But I would have liked better tires and wish it was less like a station wagon. I enjoy the car's sport and eco modes because they give the car more versatility than my last car. However I wish that this model was a four wheel or all wheel drive vehicle. My name is Andrew ** and I work in the automotive industry. I am a Team Leader at a Toyota Dealership in Lancaster, Ohio. I have been around, owned or driven hundreds of makes and models of cars new and used. I have also owned my fair share. Recently I purchased a 2017 Toyota 4Runner JTEBU5JR9H5470030 (Sep. 2, 2017) and within the first couple hundred miles of driving in I noticed a really bad steering wheel shimmy/walk/shake. I am not sure what is the best way to describe it. I brought it back into the dealership (at that time I worked at a Kia dealership) to have them look at it. They balanced the wheels and checked the alignment and said it was fixed.
I picked it up and nothing was fixed so the car ended back up in the shop for the another I believe 9 days as they tried to balance the tires. Bought new equipment to balance the tires better, switch tires and wheels from another 4Runner to finally saying that all 4 tires were no good and switching them out and using the new machine to road force balance them. Did it help? Yes it did for about a week. Unfortunately it all came back just the same.
At this point I was tired of dealing with it so I just figured I would suck it up an accept it because it was only a lease and even though I wanted to buy it out at the end I didn't have to. Then in February I ended up getting a positon at the Toyota dealership and the problem was bothering me so bad still that I decided to try again to get it fixed since I didn't have to drive my car anywhere extra because now I worked there. Again they road force balanced the tires and said it was fine and then another week or two went by and I asked them to check the alignment which was off (probably from the constant shimmy) and they fixed that. I even reached out to Toyota to see if they would buy the car back since I was a good Toyota client. They said that the car was within guidelines. So here I am.
I am not trying to get rich or get a settlement. All I want is for someone to look into this long existing problem that the Toyota 4Runner has that Toyota denies. It might never help my situation out but maybe just maybe it could help someone else out in the future. I am attaching some links that will show you that this is been a long ongoing problem that Toyota won't address. We don’t carry our payoff of our vehicle in our pocket so I gave an estimate which he should have followed up with a 10 day payoff. In the last six years I have had ''Rodent Damage'' to the wiring of my Toyota vehicles (Toyota Tundra 2007 and Toyota Corolla 2010). I have had one to two claims per year since 2013 (no claims for 2014) for a total of seven claims. I didn't pull my records back any further for the Toyota vehicles. The damage varies from approximately $700 to $1500 per claim. My deductible is one hundred dollars each for a total of $700 to me for that time period. Now it has happened again and I got a letter from my insurance company stating it is going to raise all my deductibles to $1000 each, not just my comprehensive coverage.
All indications are this is an Industry wide problem because the wiring has been changed to soy based insulation and all the critters love to eat this stuff. Before 2007 for the previous 27 years, no wire damage. I had Chevy and Dodge before the insulation change and had no wire damage. I had my Chevy and Dodge vehicles both for 10 years or more each parked in the same location as my Toyota vehicles. I have taken all the precautions to prevent rodents by placing repellents, traps and poison boxes out to eradicate the vermin. Honda has ''Rodent Tape'' available at their parts department to wrap the wires. Whats that tell you. (The tape is also now available at Amazon.) I have been wrapping the damaged repaired wires. This seems to work for about a year. The tape must lose its potency in that time at least that is about how long they go with no wire damage.
I see there are class action lawsuits in progress at this time for this problem. In the meantime I am at a loss for what to do short of parking on an electric grid that electrocutes anything that approaches my vehicles. I mention this because such a product was in the development stages on a GoFundMe in the UK. Sad to say it didn't get into production. It was called RatMat Rat Repellent Electrified Flooring. To wrap it up, the danger of wires being damaged is loss of safety devices built into the vehicle such as anti-lock brakes.

This is regarding Toyota case #** that I have filed for Toyota Of Dallas when I purchased 2018 Rav4 XLE on April 27, 2018. It's been 4 business days and still this issue has not been resolved yet. Let me describe you the details about this issue - I got the OTD with student grad offer for that vehicle one day prior before purchasing that vehicle and I also filled out my loan application to save 1.5 hours as mentioned in your website. When I came to Toyota of Dallas dealership, the salesman told me that I am not eligible for student grad offer even though I submitted my diploma and proof of income (As per Toyota, I should be eligible to get this offer as I have all the documents and excellent credit history and score). So, I ended up getting another OTD for this vehicle.
When I went to Toyota Financial Advisor for this dealership, he told me I can get student grad offer but I have to purchase extended warranty as well otherwise I cannot get that offer. But I had told him that I do not want extended warranty but only GAP insurance. At last, I ended up signing contract as I was exhausted, starving as I hadn't had any meal. Even though I had OTD for this vehicle and I submitted loan application online, it took me about 4.5 hours to get this vehicle out. I know this dealership usually takes time to make customer exhausted so they can play with their numbers. When I came home, and started looking out contract, there should be 2 contracts which the Financial Advisor told me but instead there was 3 contracts (last contract he just attached to my other paperwork).
The Financial Advisor told me if I submit last year tax document, then my monthly payment for vehicle will be 406, if not then 419, then how come there was another contract with 456 (As you can see, they make me sign electronically in pad and there was nothing except signature box)? Then I open a case against this dealership with Toyota. So, next day I went to the dealership and told Internet sales manager Syed to let me meet to one of the PR Manager, then he told me, “I am the manager.” So, I told him that I don't know about that. After that, he told me to get out of this building as I was disrespecting him. How I am going to know who he is until he show me some proof? And this dealership is treating customer like a piece of crap after buying vehicle. How can a manager say to customer to get out of the building instead of trying to resolve the issue?
So, today I called Toyota again as I had not receive any response yet from dealership. Finally, today I got a call from Director from Toyota of Dallas around 2 PM and he told me that I have to submit 2 years of Tax document in order to qualify for student grad offer. So, at this point the dealership are just telling me whatever they want because another Financial Advisor told me to submit only last year tax document. I told him that and I told him what my numbers should be and then he told me that he will review and call me back. The dealer is closed right now and I have not receive any call yet. Does it take more than 7 hours to review this case? It's been 7 days I have been stressing out due to this reason. So, could you try to escalate this issue to be resolve asap? I wish it would have been a happy purchase but the fraud/false activities of this dealership won't making us customers happy.
Also, PFAs for contracts and paperwork and at this point, even though If I submit my tax return, I do not know which amount is going to be my monthly payments? I want to remove extended warranty and GAP insurance from my contract. And I want to re-sign the contract with the Financed Amount 22701.43 (406.58 monthly payments one, after deducting extended warranty and GAP Insurance) because I have put $3000 down payment already and it was a deal I received before going to the dealership.
After 4 business days, this issue has not been resolved yet. They make me sign on electronic pad which there was nothing written except the signature box. and found out that they are charging me more amount in that contract than what I was given OTD. Do not sign on that electronic pad. Now, I have 3 different amounts for one car. I would rather spend that extra charge money on lawyer instead letting this business get it.
