Ram ProMaster factory and extended warranty overview
All new Ram trucks and vans, including ProMaster models, come with a comprehensive bumper-to-bumper warranty. This warranty covers eligible defects in your vehicle for three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. Other coverage in the manufacturer’s warranty includes:
- Corrosion on all panels for three years and unlimited mileage
- Corrosion on outer panels for five years and unlimited mileage
- Powertrain warranty for gasoline vehicles for five years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first
- Powertrain warranty for diesel vehicles for five years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first
- Powertrain warranty for 2026 ProMaster vans for 10 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first
- Federal emission warranty for five years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first, and eight years or 80,000 miles on select components
- Emission performance warranty for five years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first
- Noise emission warranty for the life of the vehicle
- Limited tire warranty for two years or 24,000 miles, whichever comes first
Most of these manufacturer warranties only apply to the original owner, and only the powertrain warranty transfers to secondary and subsequent owners. It’s also worth noting that the above warranties stand even if you use your ProMaster for commercial purposes.
If you want to extend your factory warranty coverage, you’ll need to purchase an extended warranty before your initial coverage expires. While plans from third-party vehicle warranty companies vary, official FlexCare plans can extend your coverage up to eight years or 125,000 miles.
Ram ProMaster extended warranty coverage options
There are three warranty options available from FlexCare (formerly Mopar Vehicle Protection), and you can purchase one directly from the Ram ProMaster manufacturer. Lower-tier plans are more affordable, but these less expensive vehicle warranties cover fewer components and systems than the pricier options.
- FlexCare Extended Care: This is the most basic option that primarily covers the vehicle’s powertrain components, including its engine, transmission and drivetrain. It also covers some parts of the AC system, most steering components and your key fob.
- FlexCare Extended Care Plus: This plan includes everything in the lower-level tier, plus some brake system and electrical system components, the instrument panel, power motors for seats/windows and the front suspension system. In total, it protects more than 800 parts and components.
- FlexCare Extended Care Premium: This is the most comprehensive plan, covering more than 5,000 parts. It includes everything in the Extended Care and Extended Care Plus tiers, as well as rear suspension, safety and security systems, most electrical components, most brake components, the body and more.
| FlexCare Extended Care | FlexCare Extended Care Plus | FlexCare Extended Care Premium | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Included components | 86 | 800+ | 5,000+ |
| Major systems covered | Engine, powertrain and drivetrain | Engine, powertrain, drivetrain, front suspension, electrical and AC | All |
| Term options | Up to 8 years or 125,000 miles | Up to 8 years or 125,000 miles | Up to 8 years or 125,000 miles |

Ram ProMaster extended warranty cost factors
Unfortunately, the only way to get an accurate estimate for your Ram ProMaster extended warranty plan is to visit a dealership or contact FlexCare directly. However, we compiled some average estimates based on Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge-Ram dealership sites:
- Extended Care: $1,400 to $2,800
- Extended Care Plus: $2,000 to $3,300
- Extended Care Premium: $2,800 to $4,500
This is about in line with pricing from third-party warranties, which range from $1,800 to $5,000, on average. Keep in mind that many warranty companies don’t cover vehicles used for commercial purposes, so you may not be able to get a third-party warranty for your ProMaster.
It’s also important to note that pricing can vary widely based on the following factors:
- Coverage tier: The level of coverage you want is the biggest cost factor, with bumper-to-bumper warranty plans costing about twice as much as basic powertrain warranties.
- Model year: Older vehicles are more likely to experience issues and breakdowns than newer ones, so you may pay more to cover an older model.
- Current mileage: Problems become more common as your van’s mileage goes up, so warranty prices increase with higher mileage.
- Deductible amount: FlexCare gives you options for your deductible. The lower your deductible, the less you’ll pay out of pocket per breakdown, but the higher your upfront plan costs will be.
- Payment option: Paying in cash gives you the lowest long-term cost, while financing your extended warranty may mean paying interest that improves upfront affordability but increases your total. FlexCare does offer an interest-free payment plan, however.
Ram ProMaster extended warranty buying tips
You’re not required to purchase an extended warranty for your vehicle, and there’s never a guarantee that it will be financially worthwhile. If you’re weighing the decision to buy an extended service contract for your ProMaster, use the tips below to help you decide which, if any, FlexCare extended warranty option is right for you.
- Make sure you’re still eligible for coverage: You can only purchase a FlexCare plan if your ProMaster is still under its factory warranty, which means it’s newer than three years old and has fewer than 36,000 miles.
- Decide the coverage level you want: If your ProMaster is eligible for an extended warranty, decide if you want basic coverage for major powertrain systems, comprehensive bumper-to-bumper coverage or something in between. Consider your vehicle’s age, mileage and intended use when deciding.
- Consider what’s available: You should compare plans from multiple providers whenever possible. Every warranty provider may not cover commercial vehicles, so only consider those that do if you use your ProMaster for work.
- Get multiple quotes: Once you narrow down companies that will cover your ProMaster, get apples-to-apples quotes from each to compare.
- Read your contract carefully: Review your contract thoroughly, paying close attention to any exclusions.
- Be sure you understand maintenance requirements: Check your contract for Ram maintenance requirements. Some vehicle warranty providers, including FlexCare, will deny coverage if you fail to carry out routine maintenance.
- Check transferability if you plan to sell: Read the contract section about transferability, as this could come into play if you sell your ProMaster before the warranty expires.
FAQ
What is the 10-year warranty on the Ram ProMaster?
Ram offers an extended 10-year powertrain warranty on select 2026 models, including the 2026 Ram ProMaster. This extends the standard warranty by five years and 40,000 miles for gasoline engines. Note that this warranty is not transferable, so second and subsequent owners will be subject to the standard powertrain warranty.
Can you buy a Ram extended warranty after purchase?
Yes, you can buy a Ram extended warranty after you purchase the vehicle, as long as you buy coverage within three years and 36,000 miles. You can choose from three tiers of coverage, ranging from a typical powertrain warranty up to bumper-to-bumper coverage. FlexCare, Mopar’s extended warranty provider, may impose additional charges as your Ram approaches the three-year/36,000-mile limit.
Is an extended warranty worth it for a Ram ProMaster?
Extended warranties are never guaranteed to be worth it, but they can be a good investment, even for peace of mind. Since Ram ProMasters are commonly used for commercial purposes, they tend to see more wear and tear than standard passenger vehicles. Because of this, there’s a better chance that something will go wrong and your coverage will come in handy.
What is not covered by the Ram extended warranty?
As with most other extended vehicle warranties, Ram’s extended warranty doesn’t cover consumable components such as tires, spark plugs or filters. It also doesn’t cover damages caused by accidents, misuse or vandalism, or issues related to natural disasters. To avoid surprises, carefully read through your warranty to see what is and is not included in your coverage.
