Rotating tires and inside of tires worn down on one tire. 10,000 miles. Taking to dealer, had same problem with 2007 Civic. Two sets of tires, later they replaced rear upper control arms. Reading about rear caliber kit or shims to remedy the problem. Otherwise good car. Normal low idle vibration same as 2007 Civic.

Vibration when car is stopped with the foot on the brake. I bought this car 4 days ago last night. My wife brought this vibration issue to my attention. My wife took the car in to get the cross bars installed and floor mats. I contacted the service manager at Hopkins Honda in Sunnyvale about the vibration issue. He states that Honda is aware of it and they are working on a fix. Now researching this issue, it has been going on too long to not have been resolved. They shouldn't be selling these lemons. My salesman said just put it in park. What a crock of **! I haven't read any of the other complaints yet. Honda better step up to the plate or there will be hell to pay from social media and the news in my area!

I had to bring or have my crv 2012 picked up due to the battery dying. The kicker is they were going to charge me on the last battery because they said that my warranty expired. Needless to say, I raised hell and they didn't charge me. Then a few months later there was a recall on something to do with the battery sensors or cable. Of course I brought the letter in for them to fix the problem. I'm sure they thought I was going crazy. Now my car sounds like a little truck, putt putt noises, my gas cap light went on. So I added sea foam cleaner to the tank and filled up with premium gas. We will see! Still might take it in.

I among other 2015 CR-V owners experience extreme vibration in my car when idling and accelerating. It is horrible to drive. I get motion sickness from the shaking. I'm furious to find out that this has been an issue since the fall of 2014, yet the dealership failed to mention this when I bought the car in April 2015.

I am an older driver. I do not go to work. The Honda battery goes dead quickly. I only use the car once or twice a week. I bought it new from the local dealer. It now has a little over 10,000 miles. I paid cash with no trade in car. I drive the car every few days. The battery has to be jumped to start. I am told it has a lot of stuff running even when I am not using the car. I am especially unhappy that the radio will not work. It just blinks. I have almost never had the radio working. The dealer says I should make an appointment to bring it into service for them to fix. This is a poor solution that I should take it there every few weeks.

Bought a 2014 Honda CRV, used, had 19,900 miles on the car. When I went to press on the break at highway speeds, whole front end of car vibrates. I knew the rotors were warped and took to dealership to replace rotors. They said they would on turn the rotors. I said this will not fix the problem and that the rotors will warp again. I now have 35,500 miles on the car and the rotors are warped again and will need to be replaced. I think the problem is they have the same rotor on the cars when the cars had 15" tires, now they have 17" tires which heat up the rotors too much and cause them to warp. Anyone else have this problem???

I've had my Honda (2014) for about 10 months. On the 3rd month of having it. I noticed that every time you turned the car on when it was cold. It made a really loud rattling noise. I brought back to the dealer and they told me I have to wait for a recall. Now it's hot and it's happening even more now. I took it back and they told me basically that there is no fix for it yet and I have to basically suck it up and continue paying for a defective car.

My 2011 Honda CR-V has had vibration issues since low mileage. (20k to 30k) Tried everything to fix issue. Balance and rotated tires. Brand new tires put on. Took it to Honda when it had 59k on it, was told it was wheel bearing. Replaced, still same vibrations from frontend of vehicle. All they was concerned with was call it something, the power train warranty expires at 60k. Tried replacing front CV joints, nothing helps this vibrating. So disappointed with Honda. Called and complained to Honda, was told they wasn't concerned, it was all my responsibility and out of warranty. I told them that was fine but others would be warned that these CRV has some serious issues. Just don't want others to pay big money for something that vibrates everywhere you go. Shame on Honda.

My car has 19,000 miles when the rotor and pad on the rear driver side... am told it is not a warranty item because it is environmental cause... needless to say, I paid $268 for repair but spoke with Honda America and was reimbursed $200. However, two days later, my car had no heat... and at 20,000 miles I am told I need a radiator because debris in the road made a hole in the radiator and the car leaked all of the antifreeze... Again, they are telling me it is not a warranty item. I am so upset because I need to pay over $600 for the repair... am stuck... so, am ready to turn in the car. This is my third Honda and the second CRV in 4 year. Had a Honda Accord for 10 years and never did anything other than oil change, a battery as well as tires... 179,000 of no issues... This car has been a problem from day one. Never buying a Honda again... Going back to Toyota or Subaru...

My Honda CRV 2010 had starter issues. At 45000 miles noticed noise by starting. At 50000 I was told Starter is bad and need to be replaced. (Dealer wanted $700 plus diagnostic fee of $115, other Mechanic replaced with Remanufactured starter (Told there are no new). Again few days ago at 72000 miles suddenly starter stopped working and I had no other choice to get again new starter, $485. (Dealer $750 with same brand.) I am very angry. It has never happened to me to any car I had in my life. Before that had door lock problem and now this. Replacing starter once a year plus all trouble and aggravation for towing the car.

Owned since 11/2014. It's a 2015 Honda CR-V with less than 7k miles on it. It's vibrating a little already. The stereo keeps disconnecting from my iPhone 5s, which the dealership said would definitely work with my car. Also the talk to text has never worked. Even tried it with a Galaxy S5 too. Then there is the AC. It stinks!!! The front vents don't blow very well at all even on max. You can't feel it if you use the feet and floor option. Takes forever to cool off. Reviewing online I guess there's a recall now, but I was never notified so I doubt it will fix any of my problems. I love Hondas. Not sure if I'll be buying another one after this one. Come on Honda make it right. I didn't pay over 30k for something that doesn't work right. Ugh. By the way, please stop using such a light colored interior. The interior on my 2006 Honda Civic ex was much better. This one now gets dirty so easy.

My mechanic says he has seen this same problem a dozen times over the last 3-4 years and has thrown parts and labor at the problem with no success in fixing the issue. Honda customer service has no record of anyone else experiencing such a problem. Is there anyone else who has dealt with this issue?

2015 Honda CRV - The first thing I noticed was the rough idle. I had taken it in for a minor problem that I forgot what it was about. I had also told the service department about the rough idle. Nothing was said when I picked up the vehicle. I now have 3700 miles (three months old) and the rear hatch window blew out while sitting along the curb. The temperature was about 103 degrees. I had the sun roof cracked to let some of the hot air out while it was sitting. I had glass blown about six feet behind the car. That indicated that it blew out from the interior. The vehicle was also locked.
Honda motor company said that they had never heard of that happening. They said to take it to the local dealer and see what they say. There was no one that could say why the rear glass blew out. So it looks like my insurance company will be stuck with the bill and I will have to pay the deductible. No I am not happy and I will return to the dealer upon my return to Washington.

Outraged. Just spent $25,000 on brand new vehicle and air conditioner is not working. Vehicle had 50 miles on it when we purchased. It was a cool day, so when we turned air conditioner on it blew cool air from outside, so we didn't pick up on the problem. Honda representatives said the problem will be taken care of by the warranty. Seriously, you would think there would be better options like returning a vehicle within 7 days for an exchange without extra processing fees. Or a refund! Dealership completely could care less, once the sale is made. Our sales rep hasn't even responded to my Email and it's been 2 days!!! Responded within minutes when was dealing with him in regards to purchasing the vehicle. Was really expecting more from Honda.

I purchased the 2015 Honda CRV in Dec. 2015 and loved it and had no issues until 5/15. While driving 80 mph on the interstate my car suddenly slowed down went from 89 to 60 and then kept going down. As I pushed the gas it would not accelerate. Had to put on fishers and drive home under 40 miles an hour. If I stopped at red light it would barely get up to 20 to 30. The engine light was flashing. Drove it home and was going to call a tow truck but my husband started it up and we drove it to Honda. They could not find an issue.
3 days later it did the same thing at 80 miles per hour. I was able to get to exit and coast to park. If I pushed gas same thing no acceleration. They picked it up from my work and checked it out. I was told the gas cap was loose and the cruise control was on. They said it was the adaptable cruise control. If it was on I wasn't using it so why did it take over. Same thing happened today on interstate. Gas cap is tight and cruise control not on. This is a scary and dangerous issue. It is back at Honda and I am waiting to see what they find out. I did not spend 32,000 to have a lemon. I had a 2007 CRV for 7 years and never had an issue!

We purchased a new Honda CRV 2015 from Courtney Honda in Milford, CT. After a few days, we noticed that after car has been driving for more than a few minutes, that when you have to stop and apply brakes the car begins to shake. It would shake so hard we would have to keep car in neutral when at red lights or stop signs. The dealer claimed they knew nothing about this and Honda Corporate had no fix but was working on it... and still is. We didn't want to own the car for fear of future issues with this model- even if Honda is able to find out some fix for this issue.
After 60 days, we went back to dealer and negotiated to trade this car in for a 2015 Honda Pilot. We ended up losing $2,000 b/c the value of the lower trade-in after 60 days. This was a very disappointing and frustrating experience. We have been long-term Honda customers and feel like they are not treating customers fairly. The issue has been known for some time yet they have done nothing to delay sales until they fixed this issue.

I can put the car in neutral and hit the gas a little at stops and hit the gas a little to stop issue but I can probably buy 99% of the other cars offered and I won't have to do this.

I am extremely disappointed with HONDA! My husband and I purchased a Honda CRV in 2012 because our family was growing and we needed more space. We decided to get this vehicle, in August make the 3 years that we have this car and every year there is something wrong with it. The first year the shift gear was stuck, we took it and they said that there was a recall on that piece. No problem they fixed it!
To make a long story short about a month ago the car did not want to turn on. We were confused because the car is new and we currently have 10,474 miles on the car and we took the car in again to the dealer and they said that the battery had to be changed. On 5/14/2015 the car would not turn on again! What upsets me the most is that they know that the car has this issue and they do not say anything to the consumer! I have went online to see if anyone else have had this issue and I pulled up over 200 consumer that have purchased this model and HONDA has not done anything to fix this issue nor have had a recall on this issue!

Bought new 2015 Honda CRV in October 2015 from Atamian Honda in Tewksbury, MA. It has the usual vibration problem so many people have identified online, and that is very annoying. But this vehicle also has a problem where, intermittently, pressing the accelerator leads to the car seeming to die. In the 7 months that I've had it, it has happened 9 or 10 times. When pressing the gas pedal, you expect the car to accelerate, but at times, it does the opposite - you see the rpm go towards 0, and car "feels" like it just died. After a couple of seconds it recovers. Trying to pull onto the highway, and having this happen is unsettling.
I took it to Atamian who said they found nothing wrong, but then again it happens intermittently, and I can't get it to happen at will. This model had a recall where part of that was that the car lost power, but this vehicle VIN not part of that recall. Atamian Honda said they filed a case with Honda. But I called Honda, who said they had no such complaint, and Honda said that Atamian has to diagnose and fix the problem.

I have always had Toyota my entire driving career, and I am very satisfied. This one time I went by the looks and bought a CRV, makes me feel like the biggest mistake I have made. 2015 CRV EX has some serious issues with transmission and engine mismatch; hence all the vibrations in the drive-train. There are three main issues with this car: Vibrations at all speeds mainly when accelerating gently. TPMS light keeps coming on despite of the tire pressure. Rough idling. I have filed a formal complaint with American Honda and the dealership. Both of them claim that the issues have been reported and they know about the 'problems' but these are within manufacturer's specifications; however a fix is being researched (go figure!). I spoke to the dealership that tells me to sell the car outside and buy something else. Extremely disappointed at my first (and last) Honda.

I recently bought a 2015 HONDA CRV EX AWD. First, let me say I am NOT a Honda advocate. The 2015 Honda CRV has major issues with the CVT and engine combination that cause major vibrations at idle and between 20 and 50 MPH depending on load. When I start to increase speed of Brand new CRV at 20-22 m/h and from 40 to 43 m/h, I feel Vibration/Shuddering, and shifting of automatic transmission not smooth at all. So, I took to Joyce Honda Service Center on 04/04/2015 and the work order is **. They did not do anything. Maybe they are not able to do anything. I am really upset, disturbed and unhappy with American Honda Motor Co., Inc. as well as Joyce Honda due to this defect in my new Honda CRV.

I have had a similar problem with my 2014 CRV!!! The problem began with less than 7,000 miles. I have had my vehicle at Honda several times. Honda claims no responsibility. All idiot lights on, diminished horse power, dimming of radio, no speedometer, no air conditioner, no rpm. Triggers seem to be going over bumps and humidity. Happens sporadically and intermittently. Seems more frequent due to humidity, for example not so much in the winter but during spring & summer often. Honda has had the vehicle several times, over 30 days total. Traded in my 2003 Honda Accord (185,000 miles) for a new 2014 CRV in November 2014. After the first oil change (performed by Honda) the VTC ACTUATOR grinds and rattles upon starting the vehicle. Called Honda and scheduled an appointment for the issue on April 12, 2015 (my husband and I own the vehicle for 6 months). Upon arrival my husband explains to the service department the issue with the car and shows them a recording of the sound; since the rattling and grinding happens randomly but consistently. Honda's service department did not look at the vehicle to confirm or document the problem associated with the vehicle. They hand my husband a print out that according to Honda Customer Service is an "operating condition" that they have yet to find a solution for.
Needless to say, I have to bring the car back for them to evaluate the vehicle and properly document the issue on my file (the procedure that should have been done in the first place). Honda Customer Service issued a claim number and I was told that the Regional Manager would get back to me by 5 pm the next day. Unfortunately, someone called the same time he did and he had called me 5 minutes before he left for the day (according to his voicemail message) when I returned the call. He left me a message on April 15th that he will call me back on April 20th, that did not happen and I called and left him a message. He finally called me back on April 21st to advise he was out sick. He advised that the "operating condition" is under review for a solution but they do not have any at this time and basically it is a noise.
I advised him that this VTC ACTUATOR has been a problem since 2008 vehicles and they were well aware of this defect when they sold me the vehicle and yet, did not disclose this information so I may make a comprehensive buying decision. My husband and I are very concerned about this issue since there is no solution. I am 6 months into the vehicle, traded in my 2003 Accord in fear it may start to cost me more money than it is worth and headaches with repairs, only to purchase a NEW VEHICLE with mechanical issues. Unfortunately, I feel angry at Honda for not disclosing this information upon purchase and basically telling me this is not a concern and yet they have been trying to solve this problem since 2008.
After research online about the VTC ACTUATOR we are concerned the vehicle's engine will fail. Dissatisfied with this defect on new car purchase and lack of disclosure from Honda or full disclosure during buying process of the CRV. I Actually would prefer if they would take this car back; after all, we did not purchase a new vehicle to have this defect weigh heavily on us from the starting gate.

I felt vibration one week after buying 2015 CRV EX in March 2015. I reported it to dealership, the salesman told that "you may not drive probably for a new car," so I thought I should observe it for a period of time. But the situation was getting worse and worse. I called the dealership again, and sent the car back to the service dept. for further check. The service advisor told "It is not only you have this problem, and Honda Headquarter already knew this. We cannot fix it and are waiting for instructions from them." I came back home and checked online and found this problem has been existing since last year. Honda did not try to fix it, but still put CRV on the market. If they stopped selling when the problem occurred, I and more customers won't be become new victims. At the same time, Honda can reduce the damage on its reputation.
I talked to both dealership and Honda USA, and they treated the customer like a ball. No one wants to take the responsibility. They keep saying no safety issue. Based on their current attitude, how can we trust them and why we should trust them?! If this vibration has no safety issue, conversely, per Honda's philosophy, no vibration has safety issue. I had a drive test with Mazda CX-5 this afternoon. They also use direct injection technology, but no any vibration you can feel. I went to another Honda dealership, to have a drive test with CRV LX, I can feel the vibration. How can Honda still sell this car on the market? Honda have to recall the car! I paid for a NEW CAR not a problem car! I want a fair!!!

I know most will write a review to complain and few to praise. So here it is. I have a 2009 CRV with 142000 km. I am the original owner. It has always been serviced by Honda at all regularly scheduled intervals. I have never had any serious issues with the car. My minor complaints are as follows: 1) When slush gets into emergency brake and freezes, it may be difficult to release the break. 2) The car does not retain heat well, it seems to let the cold air in (and dust from gravel roads). 3) The car is a tad noisy (road noise not engine noise). 4) Clothe seats mark easily (even watermarks).
And here is what I like: 1) It is roomy and comfortable (even on 8 hr road trips). 2) It has good windows and mirrors. 3) Parking anywhere is a snap. 4) There is plenty of cargo space (could someone please invent a hatch that doesn't drip on you). 5) I love the 2009 style (not as happy with newer styles). 6) I never worry much about winter road conditions; with the AWD and winter tires I am good to go. My kids are wishing I'd get a new car - but only because they want the hand-me-down! Thanks Honda - wish you weren't so pricey.

I took it in for an oil change and mentioned it to the mechanic. He said he knew exactly what I was talking about. I knew he would because it's all over the internet that this problem exists. He said it should be covered by warranty. He looked up the bulletin and it said "do not fix." WHAT? He said sometimes they put it on hold in case they are changing the part that they do the fix with, or to add additional cars. I already don't like the idea of my less than 3 year old car needing the engine opened. Needless to say, while the bulletin is on hold, I'll be at Toyota. I'd expect this from GMC/FORD or DODGE. But for the amount of money I paid for this vehicle, the lack of features, and the ugliness of the design, I expect the car they so boastfully tout as this amazing drive. Very Upset. Losing confidence in this brand.

Love the car but not too pleased with the new TP system. My old car had the warning when the tire was going flat. The light came in on my car today. Naturally I think I am getting a flat. I read the book and saw the new things that are on the car. Okay, I take the car into the dealership and the service guy tells me that there is a button that I push and it re-calibrates the tire and that if the light came on again, it would mean I have a problem. Okay fine. He also said to read the book. Yes it tells me to re-calibrate it when I add air or have the wheels rotated etc. It does not tell you to hit the button when the light comes on. If it is true what the mechanic said, then Honda should put that in their book about this problem. Has anyone else had this experience?

I bought Honda CRV 2014 at the end of 2014. The gas mileage showed on the computer dashboard is 17 miles per gallon. I thought it just needed some break in time. We bought oil change package from the dealer and did oil change when computer reminders us. The gas mileage increased to 20 mileage, but after third oil change it went down to 19 miles. We did manual gas consumption check. It is actually 18.4 miles per gallon. I called the dealer and Honda corporate.
Honda had a case manager for my complaint and sent me to the deal for gas consumption check. But the service managers there both saying they already know there is nothing wrong with the car before they started the check and asking me my driving habit and how much highway or local drive I do. This is the second Honda CRV I bought. The first one is 2005. I was really happy with it. Other than oil change, it didn't give me any problem. And the gas mileage was very good. I purchased this vehicle in January this year after owning Hondas since 1987. Soon after driving my new car off the lot I noticed vibrations at roughly the 2000 RPM level mostly while accelerating at any speed, but also during deceleration. This is very annoying during slow moving traffic or when the Econ mode is engaged. The vibration is noticeable too at highway speeds. I took it back to the dealer whose technician drove it, noticed the vibrations, assumed it was a computer problem associated with the new transmission, and said there had been other similar complaints. Later the dealer GM, service manager and another technician rode along, noticed the problem, said it was not a safety matter, and reported this is a high priority with Honda. They said it could be a year before it is resolved.

At 4000 RPMs at 70-75 mph, the engine light would go on along with other idiot lights and then the engine would die. After making it to the side of the road safely, I would put it in park turn off car completely and after 5 seconds restart the car and drive as if nothing happened. This has happened to me 5 times over a 7 month period. Prior to the stall out the car would shutter and buck like a fuel filter clog. Even at 60 mph on cruise control the shutter and bucking occurs.
Driving between 18 and 2000 rpms and at 60 mph it occurs. The two could be in association with each other or not, but it's a pain to have this happen repetitively. I love this vehicle over my prior one of a 2000 Toyota Sierra that had documented 249,000 miles on it (which I traded in for the CRV), and hope I can get that many miles and more if I can get this problem fixed. I take extreme care of my vehicles and want them to last 10 years or more, and that's why I bought a Honda after a lot of homework and recommendations of other CRV owners and for their reliability and safety record also.

The hesitation/vibration problem is noticeable (intermittent shuddering as if a wheel is out of alignment and/or the vehicle has just hit a patch of block ice, but related to the newly designed CRV transmission, a problem common to all CRV 2015 that does not yet have a fix) but what really stunned me was a sudden extremely high rev when going down a small hill. I was braking lightly at the time. (Service told me that the transmission downshifts on hills, so, using the brake caused this??!!) It didn't last long, but the engine raced so completely out of control that the vehicle did not feel safe. The noise was incredible. It didn't happen again for over a week and I assumed it was due to using the brake on a hill (!!??). (I stopped using the brake on hills and noticed that the transmission didn't always downshift, sometimes it shifted UP as the vehicle gained speed! What to do...)
I brought the vehicle in to service about the vibration issue, and was told that all CRV 2015 have this issue and there's no fix yet. I left cheerfully, and driving home, the surge/rev happened AGAIN, going UP a hill, with no use of the brake. I called my salesman, and the next morning returned the vehicle to the dealership and asked for my money back, because the car is not safe to drive. He wouldn't give my money back until this problem is proven by a Honda Canada engineer on this OR ON ANOTHER CRV 2015 VEHICLE. I left the car there. SO CANADIANS-- I NEED YOUR HELP IF YOU HAVE THIS PROBLEM! See the CRV forum and find me there. I owned it for 20 days, a little over 1000K (500 miles). I continue to drive the vehicle and shift it into neutral thinking it must be the aggressive new tires on it. When I shift it into neutral the vibration goes away. (Now I'm furious.) I own 4 other cars and none of them do this and none of them I bought new. This is my first new car. When we test drove the CRV we beat on the test vehicle and we basically sped out of that vibration range and it wasn't noticeable at all. We are extremely disappointed with the brake system the CR-V has. It does not have have very many miles on it and it sounds like an old clunker. Each time we start the car in the cold there is a loud rattle/clanking sound from under the car. We have taken it in several times and each time they are unable to re-create the sound so are unable to fix what they don't know is wrong. Here we are a year later, going into the cold weather and I am hearing this sound again. Has anyone else experienced any clanking noises in the cold?

My issues is a complaint with the 'ease of use' for voice commands. This 2015 CR-V Honda has a very cumbersome set of commands for making a voice call while driving. The options are to say "Dial by number" (after which you actually have to say the entire phone number), followed by yet another command to "Call" or "Dial by voice tag" (after which you have to say the stored voice tag name), followed by "Call". This is just ridiculous. The system should be re-engineered so the only command you need say is: "Call" -- just two words, not a series of statements, numbers, then call. IMHO just the fact that you are saying a phone command would pretty much mean you want to call someone. That's a complaint I have about the overall design of the system for making a call....cumbersome!

The fire dept and the police dept were called, investigated and concluded it was the master switch issue due to the origin and the pattern of burn. I had also showed them the recall notice and the fix that was applied by their authorized dealer.
I had informed National Highway Safety Board, Honda Corp and also my Farmers insurance. Honda Corp was not really interested to come and take a look in terms of safety to prevent other owners of Honda CR-V from having similar experience since it was a recalled switch that is faulty. I did a visual inspection and couldn't tell that any were low. I'll check the pressure with a gauge after the car has rested a bit. The first three flats were caused by road debris. BUT... my previous car I had for 8+ years, I live and work in the same place and I drive the same way to work that I used to, and I only had like one flat the entire time. Tires had the after-market hydrogen installed by the dealer. Salesman told me how cool it was 'because that's what they do for NASCAR'.
Really? I'm a girl who lives in the suburbs... you really think I'm going to be driving like NASCAR between my house and work?? Another tire pro (NOT the dealer) told me hydrogen could lead to interior dry rot because of the lack of moisture like regular air. Either that or the tires must be thinner or something, because I think if I drove over broken glass every day on purpose I couldn't get as much road debris bad enough to completely puncture the tire that often.

I have a 2000 CRV, front wheel drive. It is the WORST vehicle, bar none, for getting around in snow that I have ever owned. It is so bad that it calls into question its safety for rain slicked roads. I would not buy another one of these, or recommend one for anyone. It is surprising to me that such a car would be allowed on the roads for any place that has rain or snow. Stay away from this vehicle.
Also, recently the check engine light came on. I took it to a Honda dealer who said it needed a $3K valve job (but they would happily take it off our hands for $900). I said no thanks and took it to an independent repair shop. They found a loose spark plug, the valves were just fine, replaced the plugs and wires, reset the check engine light and now, a year later, it's running fine, for $250. So, crappy car in anything but dry conditions, and dishonest dealers. Not a good combination. At least stay away from front wheel drive, and be wary of dealers.

The Air Conditioning on my Honda CRV has stopped working. I took it into a garage to have the AC person fix it. He said the AC compressor was finished and he replaced it with a new one. He took the car for a test drive and the new compressor died as well. I did research on this problem and it seems that this is a common manufacturing defect very widely discussed on the web and in YouTube videos by mechanics. Honda is well aware that the placement of the compressor was a mistake and it will be a recurring problem. The following link will take you to the class action lawsuit in the US. Honda has taken no steps to offer a fix for this to it's Canadian customers (**).
The repair that I have to do will cost me in excess of $3000 as when the compressor dies, it implodes and scatters small pieces into other parts of the AC system. Mechanics have said that this causes other parts to be replaced as well. The repair and replacement is very expensive and there are no guarantees that it will not happen again. Other people have mentioned that they have had to do this more than once. The problem is in the manufacture of the CRV and the placement of the compressor. I am hoping that you can advise me on what can be done to force Honda to admit that this is a problem that will recur and take ownership of it. I am a member of CAA and when I went to purchase a car I used their service to recommend a reliable CRV and they suggested this one. This is my 5th Honda. I am so disappointed that they are unwilling to issue a recall on this very expensive ongoing problem. Please help... Thank you.

In June 2013, I leased a new CRV in Ottawa Canada. As I drove the vehicle off the lot, I noticed vibrations every time I used the brakes. Given the car was new I believed it was impossible that the brakes were defective. Only the situation continued to deteriorate. About 3 months after I got the car, I went in to dealership (Dow Honda) and complained about the vibrations. After being told that it is impossible that the brakes malfunction, they agreed to test drive. I received a phone call immediately letting me know that the brakes were in fact done and probably were defective from day one!! They were replaced. However I am wondering how Honda is letting customers drive away in a car with failed brakes.
Fast forward a few months. About two weeks ago, I noticed a terrible smell coming through into the cabin through the fan system. I took the car into the dealership only to be told that all the filters were checked and that nothing is wrong with the car. I was advised to "drop by" if I can recreate the smell again. The smell persisted and got progressively horrible. I called the service manager three days later only to realize he thinks I am a hysterical female. He asked me if other people can smell the terrible odor as well (and of course there were others). I dropped the car in and discovered I had a dead rodent in my heater box. The filters I was told a week before were all clean, were full of seeds and eaten up. The dealership once again failed me. They let me drive away with a dead animal in my car, told me all was fine and suggested I was not being reasonable.
As I write this, I do not know what the magnitude of the damage is and whether I drove in an unsafe car (if the rodent damaged some essential wires). I am also unsure of the health implication of driving with a dead animal in the car and being exposed to toxins. I do not think I will get another Honda. I am extremely disappointed with the quality of my CRV (I owned the 2009 and loved it) and with the service. Too bad Honda, you failed the "family".

I bought my fourth Honda vehicle from T&T Honda in Calgary during the Spring of 2013. This one was six months or so old with only 15K, but the previous three had been brand new. On the third day after I purchased it, I drove to the airport to pick up visitors, a trip of about 120 kilometers. On the fourth day I drove to the car wash, washed the car and then it wouldn't start (I did not wash under the hood!). I had to push it outside as it wouldn't take a boost from either a battery booster or from another vehicle. I called a tow truck and had it taken to the dealer. They replaced the battery.
A couple of months later the car was parked at home. I had not used it for three or four days. It wouldn't start. I put it on a trickle charger, and after a few hours it started and I drove it to the dealer. They installed a new alternator. Greatly concerned, I spoke to the salesman and he stated that because the car had a remote starter (their aftermarket product installed by them) it was probably that that was draining the battery as "they are a hog", he said.
I decided to sell the car. I'd only owned it for four months and advertised it for $5,000 less than I bought it for. After a couple of weeks a prospect called. He was out with his family looking for a CR-V and saw my ad. I explained that I'd had problems but Honda assured me it was now fixed. We settled on a price. He said they were going for lunch and would then come and get the car. I thought it looked a little dusty so I ran to the car wash, washed it, then went to start it and it was dead. Again, it wouldn't take a boost, and again, I had to push it outside and call a tow truck as well as the buyer, who then went to T&T Honda and bought a new one. T&T replaced the battery again.
This time I asked for the Used Car Sales Manager. Mike was pleasant and business like, but wouldn't take the car back. We discussed the issue with the Service Manager and his best recommendation was to install a larger battery, but also suggested they install a battery tender which would mean that if I was not going to drive the car for a few days I would have to plug it in and this would keep the battery charged. I considered this an interim fix to keep me going, though certainly not permanent. Two days after I got the car back I got a recall notice from Honda Canada stating there is something wrong with the charging system of my car and it was being recalled to reprogram the computer. I was relieved that it seemed they had, after all, found a common problem and had the fix. I booked in my car right away and had the upgrade done. A few days later I went to start the car but it was dead yet again.
This time I called Honda Canada and left a message with their Customer Service department. They called back and spoke to my wife. They argued quite strongly that we are not driving the car enough. It needs to be driven regularly and long distance to keep the battery fully charged and because we are not doing that, they argue, that we are damaging the battery by letting it drain, hence the reason it required new batteries. Anytime, in the discussion, that my wife brought up something that did not fit with the lady's argument, such as "Why it wouldn't take a boost", or "What happens if we leave the car at the airport and go away for a few days", the lady would not answer and quickly changed the subject.
I called the dealership and left three messages for the Sales Manager to call me and have been totally ignored. I decided to call the lady at Honda Canada back and spoke to her. I got the same argument, the problem with the car is not the car but the owner for not driving it all the time. I asked to escalate the problem with this lady's manager. Several days later I have received the call from a Stephan of Honda Canada. Not the "manager" I asked for though. His concern for my issue was more abrupt than the lady. He indicated that I'm on my own, I have to keep returning the car to the dealer when it breaks down. Honda Canada have no interest in my issues.
One main reason we felt comfortable buying a used Honda from a Honda dealer was their "certification". I was naive, it means practically nothing at all, no guarantees, a very small window of opportunity to return the vehicle, no lasting care for issues. You are essentially on your own. Any manufacturer can produce a car that is a lemon, it happens, no matter what make it is, but how you treat your customers tells the difference between excellence and mediocrity. Clearly, Honda make a great product, they do, but they couldn't care a less about their customers once your money is in their bank.

First time I brought it to their service shop, they rebalanced the 4 wheels. As I drive it home, the problem is still there. Second time I brought CRV back, I had the service advisor drive it with me and he acknowledged there is vibration in the car. The mechanic did "dynamic" 4 wheels balanced this time.
Service advisor assured me there shouldn't be anymore vibration. As I drive it home, the problem is still there. Third time I took it to TAMAROFF Honda, service advisor made me wait for 2 hours, he said they didn't do anything, he just talked to Honda & his manager, told everything is within specs and the vibration is normal, acceptable & there is nothing more they could do about it. Yesterday it wouldn't start again after sitting 1 night, the temperatures here in NYC reached 10 below for a couple of days. Just came back from the dealer and they said, nothing is wrong with the battery. The issue is that I don't drive it enough to recharge, they offer to hook it up to some machine for a few hours to charge it up or I should take a long trip of about 100 miles. I am going away next month for a week and they basically told me the battery will die again and that I should bring it in before I travel to have them charge it up. Doesn't make sense. I've had about 8 Hondas over the past 20 years and this is the first time I've had this problem. Our 2011 CR-V suddenly lost engine power one day and was vibrating heavily. We took it to the dealership and found that mice had chewed through the engine mount wiring and some other wires as well. We paid for the repairs and upon getting the car back, immediately noticed that when we turned the key to start it up, there was a distinct bang from under the dash and also a vibration when stopped at a light or stop sign. Before we could take it back to the dealership to get looked at again, I received a telephone survey of our experience and naturally did not exactly give a glowing review since the CR-V was still having problems. The next day, I received 2 unhappy phone calls from the service department basically asking what why I would give such a review.
We took the CR-V back to the dealership and after they looked at it, told us the bang and vibration was actually normal. He explained that for the last year-and-a-half we've had the vehicle (we bought it about a year old) that the mice must have been slowly chewing those wires which not allowing the starter to fully engage which was preventing the bang and vibration we were now hearing. And now that the wires were fully fixed, the starter fully engages which causes a bang. Yeah, I was told when the car was broken, it was starting smoothly and now that it's fixed it's supposed to making noise. When we left the dealership, we started the car twice and heard nothing. And no more vibration when stopped. So I'm pretty sure they fixed the problem and gave us some b.s. so they could cover themselves for the bad review and tell higher management that there wasn't actually anything wrong with the car after they fixed it the first time.

At 250 miles I started hearing a harmonic whine between 45 and 65 mph when I would decelerate or slow to a stop. At 1,100 miles, I left it with my dealer for 2 hours to have them check it out. Response, they drove it (nothing else) and said the noise was the transmission and "normal" for THIS transmission. Service manager said he called an Engineer at Honda and was also told "the noise is normal". I persisted. The service mgr asked the Honda Rep to talk to me. After a few minutes into a drive with the Honda employed rep, he said "I am not going to give you a new transmission" just because you don't like the noise. I was shocked. He made 3 other very rude condescending comments to me (too much to add here).
Other 2013 CRV owners are complaining about the same noise on Edmunds Car review site and it sounds like Honda is aware of the problem but telling dealers how to handle customers who complain. Honda wants to problem under the radar. I have since taken the CRV to private repair shops and a transmission shop with a great reputation. They all say the same thing, the problem is in the transaxle (part of the transmission differential) probably from misaligned gears.
My next step, Better Bus Bureau complaint against my dealer and Honda, certified letters to several Honda executives and a meeting with the Honda Dealer VP (owner). I was advised by one repair shop owner (a previous service manager for a large GM dealership in Denver) to ask the dealer to replace the car with a like auto, or take the CRV back and return my $27,000.
I also just found out recently that Honda designed and made their own transmissions, but the dealerships can't repair them. I guess if the transmission needs repair you are supposed to get Honda to replace the transmission or try to find someone who will repair it and try to get reimbursed by Honda. I have done a lot of research since this nightmare started and found out that Honda has had major transmission problems over the last 10 years. I owned 2 previous CRV's and never had any problems. I am no longer a fan of Honda and will discourage everyone I know to do their homework before they give Honda their business. They are riding on their "old reputation". The Honda rep with incredibly rude and now I wonder if Honda's new management trainee motto is "put the customer in their place".... the Honda rep did make it a point of telling me his main responsibility was to support the dealer. Maybe part of that support is getting customers to just give up and go away.

I use this car primarily to go to work, but on a recent trip to Ohio about two months ago, I noticed the tires making a loud noise. I had my car serviced (oil change) about 3 weeks ago, and I decided to have my tires rotated to see if that would help with the noise...well, it didn't!! Actually it made the noise louder, not sure if the problem tire(s) are on the front now??
Took the car to the Honda dealership this morning. I really thought they would stand behind their product, and resolve my concern with safety. Well...Honda said that I need a front end alignment, and two new tires, a cost of $500 out of pocket for me. WOW, how disappointing. I asked about the tire warranty, and Honda stated because I didn't get the tires rotated every 5,000 miles that my warranty was void. I have never experienced this before...The car is only two years old with less than 20,000 miles!!
Not sure how to proceed with a resolution, but I can tell you I will not put any more money in Honda's pocket. After reading all the complaints, I don't know if it is worth my time to contact Continental Tire North America Inc. either...Next time, I guess, before buying a new, I will have to do more research...live and learn...I used to think Honda had a good reputation and concerned with customer satisfaction...I see they have changed their philosophy. I guess I need to change mine...word of mouth is the best advertising!!

How is this for customer service and not standing by a new vehicle warranty? Here's a chronology of the unfortunate events dealing with this company:
This past spring, my wife and I bought a new 2012 CR-V from Ourisman Honda in Bethesda, Maryland. It was our second new CR-V in two years. Within the first few months, the passenger side windshield wiper rubber insert slid part way out of the wiper assembly while my wife was driving in a severe thunderstorm. Shortly thereafter, she notified me that the wiper was broken and that there was a semi-circle scratch where the assembly had rubbed against the windshield during the storm. I pushed the rubber insert back into the assembly to temporarily address the problem.
At our next service appointment several months ago, I told the service tech about the wiper and showed him the windshield. They checked out our car and said that the wiper blade assembly was "defective" and ordered a new part. When I asked him about fixing the windshield, he said that Honda would not fix it and would not replace it, although "I would have expected them to do so under your warranty." I then talked to the service manager who said that neither Ourisman nor Honda would replace the windshield since they could not determine how or why the defective part failed. He suggested I call Honda USA, which I have done. They both suggested I call my insurance company and make a claim, which I will not do.
On November 15th, I heard from Honda USA with an offer to replace the windshield at a cost of $350, which I declined. The cost is irrelevant; that Honda would suggest that we or my insurance company should pay any amount to repair a damaged windshield caused by a defective part by Honda's own admission is unacceptable. Moreover, it's been nearly a month since the service call and Honda has yet to install a new part.
Subsequently, Honda USA said they would send a district representative to look at the car and I should have a date scheduled within 3 or 4 days. I have received several calls from the same young man from Honda updating me as to what is happening - nothing. Today, I received yet another call from him saying that the district manager has been very busy, has jury duty and may or may not get to look at the car prior to January. Are you serious? He also said that the dealer had not ordered the defective part for reasons I didn't understand.
Bottom line: the windshield wiper assembly is still defective, the windshield is still severely scratched, the new wiper assembly has not been ordered nor installed, the district rep's availability is still unknown, and I've received 5 worthless phone calls from Honda USA subsequent to the first report. Buyers beware. Honda USA has not stood by its new car warranty and Ourisman Honda thinks so little of a customer that they have done nothing to correct this simple problem. No one seems to care. Last Honda, period!
A former customer.

Then I bought a 2010 CRV and it now has 42,000 happy miles on it with not one bit of trouble out of it.The fire everybody keeps talking about is because people go to this cheap oil change place and they hire anybody who can hold a wrench in there hand and they end up not putting the filter properly. About the oil filter, you want auto makers to mount the filter on the roof of the car or how about on the dash any where under the hood is hot. The fire comes from poor maintenance or up keep of the car.

My 2004 Honda CRV had the AC gone out and the dealership was going to charge me $3500.00 to fix it. Upon investigation, I found that there were hundreds of CRVs that had the same problem in that year, but Honda has been unwilling to help with the problem. It was a faulty design as Honda developed a new design that are used on post-2004 models. I could get no satisfaction from Honda and do not intend to ever buy another Honda product, although I have owned two for 20 years.

My wife and I purchased a 2007 Honda CRV from Markham Honda in October 2010. Once winter came, we found out that the automobile was sliding all over the road. The dealership responded that it was a light car with a lot of power, and this was normal. When it was time for the vehicle's first oil change, we took it to Pickering Honda, our local dealer who informed us that the poor tread was the reason for the traction problem. In addition, we were told that the rear brakes were badly corroded and warped. I asked that they put this in writing, which they did.
With this letter in hand, I went to Markham Honda, who promptly denied everything, telling me that my dealer was trying to up-sell me. After this, they informed me that my vehicle was not even Honda certified and not subject to any higher standards than any other used car. I found two pictures of the vehicle taken at the time of purchase that clearly show the car labelled as Honda certified. I spoke with a Honda Canada customer service representative and after waiting for 4 weeks for a reply, I was told that there was nothing that they would do about this. How can a major dealership advertise a vehicle as one thing, yet sell you a completely different thing with no penalty?

This afternoon I was on my way home and the roads were wet and it was drizzling and I felt the rear tires slide every time I negotiated a turn. My speed was no more than 30 MPH due to traffic and the rain. My wife has also been through the same scenario. Our tires are properly inflated. Is there an explanation and correction of this problem? Thank you.

I'm the first owner of a 2004 Honda CRV with a 5 speed manual transmission. From June 2008 to the present (September 2008) the vehicle has experienced a stall problem during every single use. Current vehicle mileage is 115,000. All the stalls occur during the same period relative engine startup, between about five and ten minutes after starting the engine, and when the vehicle comes to a stop. This stall period basically occurs at stop signs for a multi-minute period after the choke comes down. Unfortunately this stall period coincides with typical stop and go driving after departure: near home, workplace, schools, and retail outlets. I consider this a safety concern. The stall occurs suddenly and without warning. Power steering and braking systems become difficult to use. I have narrowly avoided a number of accidents while trying to recover from a stall. The vehicle often does not start back up immediately after stalling. I'm concerned the starter will degrade and further inhibit timely restarting. Repair efforts have been unsuccessful. An independent shop and a Honda dealer have been tried. The Honda dealer in Exeter, New Hampshire, blatently avoided the problem and charged about $600 for unrelated work that was also not ordered. Apparently the diagnostic computer reported a voltage drop. The independent shop has attempted to determine the problem at three separate occassions. Spark plugs and wires have been changed and other regular maintenance has been completed. An immediate fix is desired for this 2004 Honda CRV stalling problem. My young family is put at an elevated risk every time we drive somewhere, we cannot easily sell a vehicle in this condition, and we cannot afford to buy an extra vehicle.

My standard (5-speed) 2004 HONDA CRV stalls when traveling at 40-50 miles per hour and I drop it into neutral. This caused me to stall out at a busy intersection which terrified me. It has been in and out of the dealership since May 1, 2008. We have had the serpentine belt replaced, the idle re-calibrated, the spark plugs replaced , and most recently the whole throttle body along with a thermal sensor were replaced. I researched and found that the ignition switch had caused stalling in similar Honda vehicles. I asked the Honda Corprorate office about the ignition switch and was told by them that the ignition switch was not the issue. I am in contact with HONDA corporate but no one can seem to find what is causing my car to stall. The car continues to stall and I refuse to drive it until the problem is 100% corrected. I am 7 months pregnant and I cannot put a newborn in this car. For once, I can say that I do not feel safe in a HONDA.

I own 2 Honda CRVs. One is a 2000, the other 2002. I bought Hondas because I travel a lot for work, put on a lot of mileage, and I heard they were the most reliable cars for the money. I have had regular maintenance as scheduled. I personally have not had the same great experience as people who claim their cars drive forever if taken care of. My 2000 had to have the engine replaced at 140,000 miles. My 2002 has had 2 big repairs. At 80,000 miles I had to replace the rear axle bearings and several other things. At just over 100,000 miles, I had to replace the full anti-lock break system. Both cars need ac compressors which is another very expensive repair. The dealership wants over a thousand for the repair, so I looked for a use compressor, only to be told that there are many other things that have to be cleaned out and replaced when I have the compressor replaced, so the bill will still be high for labor. I have also been informed that CRVs have had a defective design for their compressors, which does not protect the compressor from stones, metal and debris. I am going through a Chapter 7 right now, and think I will probably surrender the 2002, which I originally planned on saving. I still owe 9,000 on the vehicle, and at the rate the repairs are adding up, the car wil die long before it's paid off. I know without a doubt, I will never consider owning another Honda. Parts, service and repairs are more costly, you pay considerably more for the vehicle, and I put less repairs in my American made vehicles. When I called Honda to complain, the girl was quite patronizing, basically telling me they really don't care how unhappy I am. I will say, the dealership I have dealt with is wonderful. Too bad they have to sell cars that are worth much less than they are cracked up to be. Oh, and neither car has ever lived up to the mpg advertised..especially the 2002 which is horrible. GM...here I come.

The check engine light on my Honda 2001 CRV came on at 110K. The engine started feeling as if it was going to stall, so I took it into Richfield Bloomington (Minn.) Honda. At first they said it was going to cost $2400 to replace the head, but eventually came down to $1546 for me, after a "good will" offering from Honda. I've learned that there's a deficiency in the valves, so that they should be adjusted ever 30K; and in Europe that's in the manual. However, in this country, it's been changed to 105K, I don't know why.
At any rate, my exhaust valves are "receding" into the head; which means the steel parts are being pounded up into it. It's a very expensive repair, considering it may be based on a manufacturing fault.

3 months ago I took my 2007 Honda CRV in because it handled VERY poorly in snow and ice conditions. I have driven a Honda Accord for the past two vehicles I have owned and always felt safe and competent when driving in bad weather conditions. Not so with the CRV. I thought it would actually be better but the vehicle performed more like a rear wheel drive car then 4WD.
The dealership service dept. said that there was a problem with the rear Differential and that CRV's were known to have this problem. They drained and replaced the fluid and adjusted it. The car drove much better. Now 6 weeks later I have a noise coming from the rear that sound like a wheel bearing going out. I took it to the same dealership for service and they told me that my tires are shot.

Up until that time, I could not put my window down. Several months later, the Oxygen sensor went in the car, causing me not to be able to drive the car. Because it was on back order, I drove a loaner for about a week, before they could replace it. A few months after that (all of this within the first year of owning the car) the rear differential was declared defective and I had to have work on that. As I approached the first steep curve, I applied my brakes and the car began to skid. I tried to correct the skid but the steep incline and wet pavement prevented me from doing so. The car skidded across the road into a high dirt embankment. The first point of impact was the drivers headlight and drivers side of car. The damage was so severe I had to be removed from the car using jaws of life. The only airbag to deploy was the front passenger airbag (the side the sustained the least amount of damage). No other airbags deployed. The road was wet from an earlier rain. As I approached the first steep curve I applied my brakes. I did not press hard, just the normal pressure to slow the car. My car immediately slid to the right and began to accelerate. I applied my brakes again and the car spun around and was completely out of control. I accelerated down the curve, and I tried to bring the car back under control. I slid across the steep curve and hit a high dirt embankment. The left headlight and drivers side hit first.

I couldn't imagine what would have caused my axel to break. After all, isn't that an essential part of the vehicle?
I am still struggling with the fact that my axle mysteriously broke in a vehicle that I bought brand-new and have been very committed to taking excellent care of. I am shocked and dismayed at the fact that Honda won't back their product on a 2002 Honda CRV with an extended warranty and only 59,259 miles on it! As frustrating as this has been I am grateful that I had only been backing out of a drive-way and not driving down Interstate 5 at a high speed. T

On picking up a new Honda CRV on the first day of March 2007, I returned the car to the dealer within half an hour of picking it up as it was pulling badly to the left and we found that the rear seatbelts were locking up. The dealer told me to drive it for a while as it would 'bed in' and that they would look at the seatbelts at first service (March 2008). From the very first day, the car has continued to pull badly to the left and the seatbelts are so dangerous that I was tempted to cut them to release an elderly and distressed relative from the back seat.
I feel I have been hoodwinked into buying a 22,000 car, in good faith, without being given the information the dealer already had that this model has inherent serious faults. My complaint back at the dealer was answered with shrugged shoulders and the words: we get these complaints a lot, come back after 3700 miles and then we will have a look at it. I was told the break-in period was at least that long.
This is not me first new car and I have never had anything like that. I feel misled, not taken seriously and have a feeling that Honda is very aware of the problem and just could not care less. I searched for information on Honda SUV fires after witnessing a bizarre sight on the freeway on October 20, 2004 regarding a Honda CRV SUV. Imagine my surprise when multiple articles were revealed in my internet search! In morning daylight, 8:30 AM, 50 degree temperature in Columbus Ohio, I was astonished to see a Honda CRV travelling at 65 mph beside me on the freeway with its exhaust system glowing so brightly I first mistook it for an orange neon lighting system.
I was so shocked at the sight that I mentioned it to others in an import-car chat board later that day. The first thing that came to mind was "this poor guy's car is going to catch on fire". From what I saw, a potential cause of Honda SUVs fires is incredibly high Exhaust Gas Temperatures that result in the collector and exhaust pipe of the car to glow cherry red at highway speeds. Something in the engine management system must be amiss causing either incredibly lean mixtures that raise exhaust gas temps, or overly ** timing that is letting excess fuel burn in exhaust system instead of the engine. Either way, it is a potentially disastrous problem based on what I saw. I am troubled by what I viewed from both your own, and NHTSA reports as identifying "Oil Change" service issues as a leading cause of the fires.
While a leaking oil problem may contribute to the fire, it is not the core cause. Oil on a normal temperature exhaust manifold or low on an exhaust system should not catch fire. With the temps I witnessed on the CRV above, I was worried about interior components or wiring near the exhaust system catching on fire as a direct result of the heat being generated by the components. Having extensive experience in EGT issues (owner and operator of an SCCA race team), I understand the ramifications of high EGTs, and this CRV that I witnessed was off the charts.

We had an accident with the CRV on a rain-slick road. Driving well under the recommended speed limit, it began to slid and when the brakes were used, it spun out, hitting guardrails along the road. It was very apparent that the rear-wheel drive kicked in and propelled the car into the spin. Why would anyone want four-wheel drive to operate at speeds over 10 mph? On wet or icy roads, everyone knows that front-wheel drive is the preferred drive train. Why would Honda install "on demand" four wheel drive which the driver can't override? Very dangerous design and short-sighted.
The car received about $10,000 damage by driving at speeds under 30 mph on a wet and curvy Arkansas road.
Hmmm ... here's how Honda describes it:
With its unique Real Time 4-wheel drive system, CR-V ... has all-weather performance capability. When the traction of all four wheels is needed (such as on slippery roads) the system automatically engages the wheels for maximum tire grip. Real Time 4-wheel drive is a hydraulically actuated system that operates only when front-wheel slippage occurs.
