GM is refusing to honor the 100,000 miles/5 year PowerTrain Warranty on my 2008 Chevrolet Aveo LS, which has a major engine damage worth over $4000, citing that they are not liable because I did not bring the vehicle in for a 60,000-mile service. My vehicle only has 60,000 miles and is my only means of transportation. I need your help in getting GM to honor their PowerTrain warranty and repair my vehicle.

My 008 Envoy Denali broke a cam shaft. It had a power on demand engine (6 cylinder until you need an 8 cyl.). I was accused of not changing my oil and letting it run very low. I always changed my oil and it was at the full level when the vehicle broke. I turned in my oil change receipts.

They accused me of not putting in the right oil, and the tech center took samples for testing. They came back inconclusive. They tried to attack the place that I had it changed at because it is a sports and racing shop. They accused him of putting racing oil in it and that he didn't know what he was doing. This gentleman was a certified master mechanic with Fords for 30 years.

In retirement, he opened this private shop. They said that two cylinders had oil baked onto the bottom of the intake and it happened from overheating. I told them that my oil was changed and I had never in my "62" years ever had a problem with the upkeep on my vehicles and I had purchased from GM for thirty years. They refused to cover my vehicle warranty, even though they could not prove that I actually did anything wrong.

They told me that they would not pay for my rental and that I would have to pay full charge for the 30 days that I had it, because the lower charge is one that is worked out with enterprise car rental for customer discounts and it is not going to be covered under warranty. At that point, I was forced to walk away from my vehicle and I left it at the dealership. Without a vehicle, I would lose my job of 28 years and my pension and benefits. I had to scramble to get one I could drive because of this.

I started checking on the web to see if other vehicles with power on demand had problems. "Oh yes", there were folks out there who experienced the same thing. The computer failed and the two cylinders were not being opened and caused problems with oil overheating, baking on the intake, and causing the cams to crack. All could not get it fixed under warranty. GM refused to classify this problem. The complaints were hard to find because people were all over and basically on their own to deal with the problem. The lemon law didn't have any records of these people and it was like everyone is just hanging out there to dry. So, they started posting on sites.

To me, I am outraged because they caused me to have my credit dive south and they are trying to collect on the car loan. I don't feel that I should have to pay it, because I did everything right and they basically took my car from me (really! they held it up on a hoist to prevent it from being taken out of the shop). They didn't cover it through the warranty process. I believe that there should be some sort of investigation involving the power on demand engines that GM has put out there to see if maybe there should be a recall on these engine problems.

I was told at least 4 times by people involved that this was the "new GM". I say I hope that GM goes down the river. I will never even sit in a GM product again. There have been reports on our local news explaining about how people are complaining about GM not standing behind their warranties and trying to sue. Maybe a class action would fit with the future of customers and GM. My credit has been destroyed. Since my problem with them, every credit card has cranked me up to the maximum penalty because of the universal credit law that was in effect until February 2010.

I can get no credit. And with the exploded credit card payments that I now have to pay, I am being forced into bankruptcy. I had a perfect 100% pay record before this on my credit score and was looking at a fair retirement future. Now I am 62 and have no future to speak of financially. I am devastated.
