What is Fidelity Warranty Services?

Fidelity Warranty Services is a company that offers vehicle protection plans at about 3,800 dealerships nationwide. When your car needs a repair, bring it to the dealership where you purchased the car or call Fidelity to speak to a claims analyst.

Plan benefits include coverage for costly repairs, mechanical breakdowns, maintenance, alternate transportation, towing, roadside assistance, trip interruption and fluid replacement.

For more details on how to file a Fidelity warranty claim or to understand the Fidelity car repair process, contact the customer service team. Fidelity backs its vehicle service contracts with insurance, so you still have coverage if your original dealer goes out of business.

Fidelity has around 6,000 authorized repair shops in the U.S. and Canada.

Fidelity Warranty Services plans

Fidelity offers five plans in total. Fidelity’s vehicle protection plans (Powertrain, Gold and Platinum) represent three coverage levels and offer protection for up to 120,000 miles, while its other two plans (Drivetrain Plus and Owner Select) are for high-mileage vehicles.

Additional Fidelity warranty plans

Fidelity offers a few other plans in addition to its traditional plans, including:

  • Road Hazard Tire & Wheel: This plan offers up to $5,000 in lifetime benefits for repairing and replacing damaged tires. It includes reimbursement for alternate transportation, towing and roadside assistance.
  • Lease Excess Wear & Tear: This option is for items that need repairs due to wear and tear and aren’t covered by car warranties.
  • Theft Deterrent System: With this plan, advanced technology IDs your vehicle in case it’s stolen.
  • Car Care Service Plan: This plan pays for routine maintenance on your car and gives you OneCard membership, which provides benefits similar to those included with Fidelity’s traditional auto warranty plans.
  • Term Care Select: This plan covers brake pads, batteries, headlamps, windshield wiper blades, belts, hoses, electrical components, wheel alignment and brake rotors and drums. It also includes OneCard membership, which provides similar benefits to traditional auto warranty plans. The Term Care Select plan has no deductible.

Fidelity Warranty Services benefits

Every Fidelity car warranty plan is transferable and comes with the following benefits:

  • Alternate transportation coverage: If your car is in the shop for several days and you need to rent a car, Fidelity reimburses you up to $40 a day for a maximum of 10 days. This is more than what most car warranties offer.
  • Towing coverage: If your car breaks down, Fidelity covers up to $100 in towing fees.
  • Trip interruption coverage: If you’re traveling more than 100 miles from home and your car breaks down, Fidelity reimburses you for alternate trip arrangements up to $100 a day for a maximum of $500 per occurrence.
  • Fluid replacement: When your car is undergoing a repair, Fidelity pays to refill any depleted fluids.
  • Financing: You can roll the cost of your Fidelity car warranty into the financing of your vehicle.

Fidelity Warranty Services exclusions

Exclusions to Fidelity Warranty Services coverage vary by plan. General exclusions include:

  • Damage from misuse, abuse, negligence or improper towing
  • Lack of maintenance, overheating, insufficient coolant or lubricants, sludge or restricted oil flow
  • Environmental damage (e.g., salt, rust, chemicals)
  • Repairs without a mechanical breakdown (e.g., oil consumption, reduced engine efficiency)

For Powertrain and Gold plans, any part that isn’t explicitly listed as covered under the coverage selected is excluded.

For Platinum coverage, the following is excluded:

  • Brake shoes, drums, rotors and pads
  • Manual clutch components (disc, pressure plate, bearings, arm)
  • Air bags, glass, lenses, body panels, trim, moldings, weather stripping
  • Tires and wheels
  • Most batteries (except specified high-voltage EV/hybrid batteries)
  • Light bulbs, upholstery, paint, bright metal
  • Filters (unless tied to a covered breakdown), hoses, exhaust system, catalytic converter
  • Shock absorbers, alignment or balancing (unless tied to a covered breakdown)
  • Non-factory audio or security systems, safety restraint systems
  • Convertible or vinyl tops, solar-powered devices

Fidelity Warranty Services costs

Fidelity does not publish official prices on its website, but customers report that their car warranties cost about $2,500. Some reported spending more, though.

Deductibles can be $0, $50, $100 or $250. Plans with lower deductibles cost more than those with high deductibles.

Fidelity claims analysts are available 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. EST, Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. EST on Saturday.

How do I cancel my Fidelity car warranty?

To cancel your Fidelity car warranty, submit a written request to the dealership where the contract was purchased or directly to Fidelity Warranty Services. Fidelity Warranty Services allows customers to cancel their vehicle service contracts at any time. Customers are usually required to provide documentation such as the original contract, proof of mileage and a reason for cancellation.

How do I file a claim with Fidelity Warranty Services?

To file a claim with Fidelity Warranty Services, follow these steps:

  1. Take your vehicle to a licensed repair shop or the dealership where you purchased it.
  2. The mechanic will diagnose the problem.
  3. Have the repair approved by Fidelity.
  4. Complete the repair.
  5. Pay your deductible when you pick up your vehicle.
Do Fidelity car warranties cover wear and tear?

No, Fidelity car warranties don’t cover wear and tear. But Fidelity has a special plan that is not a warranty to cover wear and tear.

Still have questions?

Is Fidelity Warranty Services worth it?

We like that Fidelity has five plans to choose from, including options for high-mileage vehicles. We also like its optional coverage for wear and tear and routine maintenance. Customers with luxury vehicles often point out how much money they saved buying a warranty from Fidelity.

However, customer reviews are mixed. While some customers report saving thousands of dollars on major repairs, others describe frustrating experiences involving claim denials, confusion about what components are covered, slow claim approvals and poor communication during the repair process.

As with any vehicle service contract, the value of a Fidelity Warranty Services plan often depends on your coverage level, the dealership administering the contract and the type of repair you need. Make sure to carefully review the contract's covered components, exclusions, deductible options and claims procedures so you know what to expect if a breakdown occurs.

This warranty company is the worse. I own a 2020 Kia sportage and brought it to my dealer because it would not start, after 4-5 adjusters it was determined that the engine needed to be replaced. It is now 4 months of dealing with Fidelity and I still don’t have my car back. They have delayed and delayed approving the work needed on my car. NO ONE should buy their contracts for their extended warranty. Please feel to check on my contract me. My name is Randy **. My dealership is KIA of Duluth MN.

I purchased a plan with my car at one dealership where they assured me the plan would transfer to other dealerships. We are a military family and move often. Throughout the time of my plan, multiple dealerships denied accepting the coupon. When I called to cancel the plan, fidelity customer service would not refund the unused coupons, as the plan had expired. I would not recommend anyone buy this if they cannot meet the mileage increments or are expected to move away from your home dealership.

I took my car to the dealership where I purchased it and the Fidelity Warranty, because all of the Freon had leaked out of the ac unit. I thought for sure it would be covered because of another customer's review who was happy because his claim was paid for the same thing. Ten days later my car is still in the shop and Fidelity denied the claim. I was very very disappointed. Why did you pay the other customer's claim and not mine. This warranty has cost me so much money. I have a $500.00 deductible. I have paid out more than Fidelity has to repair my car. You are very deceptive and inconsistent. A warranty should save the consumer money, not cost them even more. You pay out just enough claims to get a few positive reviews.

This company is a complete scam. I would love to publish the full story, but in an effort to stick to the key points. I purchased a 2020 truck with warranty. 3 months after purchase, I took truck to a dealership and needed a new engine. They blamed me, claiming maintenance issue. I had the truck for 3 months. There is no item on any vehicle that required maintenance after 3 months.

I was denied and fought for 2 months. I told scammy dealership that I purchased the warranty from that I was contacting a lawyer, and they magically had it pushed through after no other information was added. Now they refuse to reimburse me for all the diagnostic fees I paid to reach this point. They didn’t even reimburse me for half of what I paid and claimed that they would’ve paid. Like, who would’ve guessed you hate paying out your customers. Worst company I have ever dealt with. I wish they could receive negative stars.

Absolute scam. Claim to be an extended warranty company which would mean their warranty would start when your manufacturer warranty ended which in the case of this company it starts whenever you sign your paperwork for your vehicle. So if you bought a brand new car with a basic warranty and thought you were signing an extended warranty with these folks you're sadly mistaken.

The first time I called a year or two ago I was able to fax a copy of my car servicing and was reimbursed for total amount of servicing. This last time I called I got "Adam" and said he would look into it and get back to me. After a week I called again and the company had no record of my previous call. I got a different rep and he asked me to email with attachments the 2 service dates. It took over 6 weeks and I only received a portion of one of the service dates and nothing on the other date. I sent another email to the rep/no response.

Took my 2017 Tacoma to my dealer to have rear brakes done. I was informed that they found a leak in the timing cover. I was then told that the truck was covered by an extended warranty that I had forgotten about. I let the dealer contact the warrant company, Fidelity, not really expecting much, and as they had to wait for an inspector to come and check and approve things, I was given a “rental” loaner, a ‘25 Tacoma, to use. What was suppose to be a couple of days became 7, and upon picking up my truck, I was only charged for the rear brakes, and I think I paid a $50.00 deductible. Not an issue. I looked at the bill. Total with brakes, over 4K with labor. No hassles, no BS from anyone. The work was done by the dealer, with Toyota parts and the labor is guaranteed.
