What is Century Warranty?

Century Warranty is an auto warranty company offering three different vehicle service plans, ranging from basic powertrain coverage to exclusionary coverage. Each plan comes with benefits, including rental car reimbursement, towing coverage, trip interruption coverage and fluid coverage. All of Century Warranty’s plans are transferable, too.

Century Warranty plans

Century Warranty has three plans: a powertrain plan, a stated component plan and an exclusionary plan. A suite of benefits comes with each plan, and customers have access to over 6,000 repair centers in the U.S. and Canada.

Power Care plan
The Power Care plan from Century Warranty is a basic car warranty, also known as a powertrain warranty. This plan is best for those wanting affordable coverage that protects the most basic elements of their car. The Power Care plan may have limited coverage, but it still comes with full benefits. It covers:
  • Engine
  • Transmission/transaxle
  • Drive axle
Sentry Care plan
The Sentry Care plan offers intermediate coverage, often known as stated component coverage, and comes with plenty of benefits. The Sentry Care plan covers:
  • Engine
  • Transmission/transaxle
  • Drive axle
  • Steering
  • Brakes
  • Air conditioning
  • Front suspension
  • Rear suspension
  • Basic electrical
  • Cooling
Sentry Guard Max plan
The Sentry Guard Max plan provides comprehensive coverage, also known as exclusionary coverage, because it’s easier to list what parts it excludes rather than everything that’s covered. The Sentry Guard Max plan covers the following parts:
  • Engine
  • Transmission/transaxle
  • Drive axle
  • Steering
  • Brakes
  • Air conditioning
  • Front suspension
  • Rear suspension
  • Basic electrical
  • Expanded electrical
  • Cooling
  • Fuel system

Century Warranty benefits

Every plan from Century Warranty comes with an array of benefits, including:

  • Rental car reimbursement: If your car is in the shop and you need to rent another vehicle, Century Warranty reimburses you up to $40 per day for up to 10 days.
  • Towing coverage: With Century Warranty, you have towing coverage for up to $100 per breakdown.
  • Trip interruption coverage: If your car breaks down more than 100 miles from home, you can get reimbursed for your food and lodging costs up to $100 per day for five days.
  • Fluid coverage: Century Warranty covers replacement of necessary fluids, greases, oils and lubricants when your car needs a repair.
  • Transferability: Each Century Warranty plan is transferable, making it easier to sell your car if you choose to do so.

Century Warranty cost

Century Warranty doesn’t publish prices on its website. However, based on market research and consumer reviews, we estimate a basic four-year powertrain plan with Century Warranty to cost between $2,250 and $3,000. Century Warranty’s most comprehensive four-year plans will likely cost between $3,500 and $5,000, depending on the age and mileage of your car.

Century Warranty FAQ

What’s the cheapest plan from Century Warranty?

The Power Care plan is Century Warranty’s cheapest plan, but it only offers basic powertrain coverage. For the most comprehensive coverage, check out the Sentry Guard Max plan.

Still have questions?

Is Century Warranty worth it?

Century Warranty has typical powertrain and exclusionary coverage plans, and we like the company’s benefits, which provide much higher reimbursements than most auto warranty companies. Positive reviews are enthusiastic, with customers saying they’re glad they went with Century Warranty. However, many other consumer reviews mention difficulties getting Century Warranty to honor their claims. Whether you reach out to Century Warranty or not, obtain quotes from several companies before you buy an extended auto warranty.

Truly terrible experience. I wish I could have just put the $3000 I spent on the warranty into savings. They will cover nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing. You will argue with them endlessly, be passed around from one rep to the next and at the end of the day they will still deny you.

Century extended warranty. They are horrible and are not honest, take your money and don't repair the issue. You call in about my car burning oil, my contract said take to any repair shop and when I wanted to they said, "No. Take to dealer where you bought the car from," the dealer shop manager said, "No. You have to go to chevy." Century Car Warranty is a sham.

Driving home I hear a loud noise, car shuts off and black smoke surrounded my car and was coming in from under the dash. I immediately pull over and call tow truck. When they lifted up the tires there was oil dipping from everywhere under my car and all over the rear axle. Dealership submitted claim to Century. No one from Century contacted me to inform me they were sending out an inspector, or when they denied my claim. The inspector looked at my car for about 20 minutes. He tried to start it, looked under the car, pulled the dip stick and took pictures. According to Peter at Century. How is that inspecting the car? To me that says he found a way to blame me and get out of paying my claim. The reason they denied my claim was because they said it had an oil leak because it was dripping from the oil filter and I drove my car with no oil and that the oil was at 64% so which is it? No oil or 64%?

I submitted my oil change receipts which they said they did not receive. Dealership resubmitted and they again denied my claim for the same reason. NO call from Century. I contacted them and asked for the name of the inspector. He refused to give his name, saying I was not privy to that information. I asked him as the owner of the car and the policy holder I am not allowed to know who is working on my car? He said correct. I asked why no one contacted me regarding my car, letting me know what they were doing and when my claim was denied? His response we contacted the dealer service department.

I am the Policy owner, not the dealership and I have a right to know what is going on with my car. He said everything was sent to the dealer service department. They never received any pictures or paperwork. I asked him to send me all paperwork and photos they have on my car. He said he could not do that. I can email a request to get all paperwork on my car and gave me an email address. I asked to be transferred over to his supervisor, he refused. I asked for their name and phone number and again I was told he can not do that. He did finally give me her name.

They do not want to deal with the actual policy holder and don't give you any information. So far experience with them has caused so much stress and anxiety. They had no problem taking my money but refuse to do a real inspection on my car. That is all I am asking for. I am still fighting with them, going on 3 weeks. I will continue to fight for what is fair. I will never get another warrant from Century. They are quick to blame the policy holder and do no work to find out what is really wrong with your car. Please think twice before purchasing a warranty from them. I would hate for anyone else to go through what I'm going through. They are really good a breaking your spirit and not much else.

Century is very blatantly a scam, that intentional avoids customer interactions to prevent claim progress or payouts. After paying thousands of dollars for coverage, I had one part failure ($925) that was under warranty but Century did everything in its power to avoid reimbursement. Contacting customer service is a never ending cycle of responsibility being passed from department-to-department and absolutely forget ever receiving a response to any emails.

I was finally informed that after 3-months and no follow-up by Century that my reimbursement was being processed, only to hear crickets for another month before I finally was able to communicate with an employee who informed me that my reimbursement was not processed because the receipt was under my wife's name and not mine. So 4-months delay already without any end in sight with countless delay tactics to avoid payouts, very clear its standard operating procedure to drag on processes in effort to have customers stop following up.

I took my car to to the dealership because I was hearing a knocking noise. Of course I wasn't concerned because I have a extended warranty with Century Warranty. However, my claim was denied because I had too few miles on the vehicle to have the issue.

I took my car into the dealership to get looked at because about 2 weeks after I purchased the warranty it started to leak. I was told there was no grace period when I called and asked if I could take my car in to get checked by the warranty company. The dealer stated the car needed a new turbo and the inspector for the warranty company denied it because they stated that the car was leaking way before I got the warranty. They stated my car had dirt caked on the engine mixed with oil. Well, I have a huge problem with that because I am constantly keeping my car clean to include the engine bay. The dealership contacted me and stated that the warranty company denied my claim and they did not understand why as I have kept up my maintenance with them since I purchased the vehicle in 2018.

The warranty company would not send me the pictures they claimed they used. I requested a cancelation. Let's see how that turns out as I will be waiting for my 100% refund since I am within my time frame. I believe the reason they denied it was because a turbo which is what the dealer found cost more than the warranty. Someone should really look into this company.

My name is Collus ** and my BMW starting to give me problems on October 17th, 2024, and I immediately called Momentum BMW Service Center and was instructed to bring my car in on October 18th, 2024. Upon bringing my car in on October 18th, 2024, I advised Momentum BMW that I would need a loaner car due to me working two jobs. I was told that they didn’t have any loaner cars but as soon as Century warranty department approved the repair that I would be given one. Now this is where things took a turn for the worst. My car was there 2 weeks and 3 days, without me being given a loaner car. October 18th-30th, 2024. This caused me a lot of stress along with a hard hit to my finances as I had to utilize Uber to get me back and forth to both of my jobs which are both located in opposite directions of each other.

I called Century every day about the approval and loaner car and they were rude and offered zero assistance. I felt like this was dragged out and I received the run around from Momentum BMW as well as the Century warranty company. I work very hard every day, and I have a car note and insurance to pay on this car. Not having my car for over 2 weeks without being giving a loaner car was and is totally unacceptable. The customer service I was provided was the worst I have ever experienced with BMW and Century Warranty department. I would like to have my expenses reimbursed from having to use a UBER to get back and forth to work along with a free oil change for undue stress I had to endure during this process.

On the front end and the back end, Century Warranty Services and the folks working there have been wonderful! The sales associate I originally spoke with, Matt, was very knowledgeable, not pushy and friendly in a genuine and not salesy way. Unfortunately, like many of us in this day and age, I received unwelcome news from my job: hours and pay cut, moreover, on the 29th day of our extended warranty with CWS, and it was a Saturday. I just assumed that we would be out the $50 administrative fee, which I was fine with. After all, it was in the contract, and if you think it through, I had technically, in a way received almost a month of coverage.

When I, feeling terrible about having to cancel my warranty, called in to CWS, I spoke with Zach, and he could not have responded to my unfortunate news in a more understanding, empathetic way. He did not make me feel bad, that is to say, worse than I already did, at all! He, in fact, totally put me at ease, and given where I was mentally, that was a saving grace! I told him we expected to be out the $50 and that it was not a big deal. Bottom line, we received a FULL REFUND!!! Bottom, bottom line, when we get back on our feet and if we decide to get an extended warranty on either of our aging vehicles, it will DEFINITELY be with CWS!!!

I signed a contract in good faith and haven't used it but once. Now I need it only to find out it had expired. Weird! Well, I was made aware that the warranty was started the day the ORIGINAL OWNER drove it off the lot?? Makes no sense to sell a 7 year EXTENDED warranty on new car? It was not pointed out by the salesman and I didn't catch it because who in their right mind would sell such a warranty! I was duped and just would like others to be aware of this insanity.
