About GE Washing Machines

Administered by Assurant, these plans cover functional part failures resulting from normal use. Coverage is available for individual appliances, so you can customize your protection plan.

My washer broke down on October 11. I called GE, was transferred to their warranty partner (Appliance), and scheduled a service appointment. When the technician finally came, he looked at the washer, told me I needed a replacement part, and said he’d be back in two weeks. The part arrived. He never showed up—twice. I called again and made another appointment in November. The same technician came out, then suddenly claimed I didn’t have insurance and refused to fix anything. I told him multiple times that I did, but he got irritated and left my house. I called the company again, explained everything, and made yet another appointment for late November. They said I’d get a text the day before. I never got a text, and they never showed. When I called, they acted like the appointment never existed. So I made another one for December 8.
The technician came, went to look at the washer and the part we’d been waiting on for months, then said he needed to make a phone call. He sat outside for 30 minutes, came back in, and told me he “didn’t feel safe” and was leaving. At this point, I’m disgusted with how this company has handled everything. I have four kids—two teens and two babies. Laundry piles up fast, and here we are on December 9 with no working washer, no accountability, and no resolution. I’ve called, I’ve complained, and absolutely nothing has been done. I’m beyond frustrated and completely over this entire process.

We bought our GE Profile Washer on July 12, 2025. It has consistently done a poor job washing our clothes, blankets, mattress covers, etc. Even on the BULKY cycle and DEEP FILL, the machine gets off balance. My Drain/Spin cycle wouldn't operate correctly (did a complete rinse and sometimes started at the beginning of the cycle). This is a real LEMON and I just want it gone!! Even the repairman who was here today said to download the SmartHQ app, which I did. Then headquarters would run a remote diagnostic test. I can't get any help from HQ either!

I bought a GE top load washer about 5 years ago which has been steadily been getting noisier in the last 2 years. When it agitates it make a terrible grinding sound. I followed all the recommendations from cleaning and so on but it just gets louder in time. I also tried to Google repairs for this problem but in most cases it talks about replacing the transmission. That seems to be a common problem with these machines. That means after 3 years from new the transmission starts to fail. As far as I'm concerned this should've been recalled for bad design. You pay about a thousand dollars for a machine that doesn't last is criminal and should be challenged legally with a class action lawsuit! I will never buy GE appliances again!!

These are the worst! GE Profile, top of the line is GARBAGE! My washing machine hasn't worked properly since day one. I've had it worked on 7 times in less than 2 years. GE Customer Service is absolutely useless! They basically said, sorry, you're SOL lady. I would never recommend any GE products to anyone, especially at this very high price point! I'm extremely disappointed. Do Better GE!!!

Terrible customer service and terrible technical service. GE does not stand behind their products or their quality of service. I essentially had to throw away a year and half old washing machine because they would repair it properly and then they blamed us for not knowing how to load it. I've been doing laundry for 60 years now. I'm pretty sure I know how to load a washer! I will NEVER purchase another GE appliance!!!!! We bought a new LG and it works just fine!!!

My GE washer is two years old. I have had to have the lid lock replaced. It failed after three loads. Also replaced the circuit board. After one load the washing machine has failed again. I’m sorry I bought parts for this thing thinking it could be fixed. I was wrong. This machine is a very poorly engineered unit. Puts a big stain on the GE name. Don’t think I’ll be buying any of their products ever again.

We purchased a top loading GE washing machine about a month ago, & it is a nightmare! The first one they delivered was defective, so they sent a second machine, which is just as bad. It's impossible to wash sheets or towels in this machine, as it constantly becomes unbalanced, There is no way to "unbalance" the load during the cycle, nor to repeat a spin cycle when the load stops & is still soaking wet & not spun out. DO NOT BUY A GE washer, it's a terrible product, with worse service. (It's also very noisy.)

I received a new washing machine from GE in April. It consistently has not worked. It moves or walks during the spin cycle and shuts off so I am left with soaking wet laundry. They have come multiple times and refuse to replace the machine that is obviously a lemon. The last time they came they told me I could only use one of the many cycles I paid for and to use deep fill each time even if it was a small load thereby wasting water as well. I have video of the problem. Every time I have to take off work for half a day for it not to be fixed properly or replaced. Currently I am on hold with the department who can authorize a replacement. I am at 30 minutes so far. We will see… They are telling me my warranty only covers repairs. IT WAS A BROKEN MACHINE FROM THE BEGINNING!

Do not waste your money on GE front loader washer! Less than 5 years old and had repairman out 4xs. Nothing but problems. First it was the drain pump. Then it was the circuit board twice. Also due to lack of repair servicemen, you have to wait a week for them to come out to access the problem, and wait again for part and repair. I would understand if I cheaped out and got an inexpensive brand but GE front loader is pricey!

I absolutely hate this washer. I put in a mattress pad. Settings, Bulky, Deep fill. Even on deep fill the top of the load was dry as bone, not even damp. So after an hour of waiting. I have to turn the load over and wash it again, waiting another hour. So much for being a water saver. This company owes its consumers money for the extra water and power and time that was wasted. DO NOT BUY.

My GE washer would not complete a cycle due to low H2O supply. I the customer service chat and was connected to Charles, the technician. He explained everything clearly and thoroughly and clearly and waited until I could do what was needed and a washing cycle was completed. I am glad to have avoided a service call when it was fixed with his assistance, especially on a Sunday!

Purchased GE model# GTW335ASNWW in 2023, as a replacement for our Samsung washer that was unrepairable. In the past month, it has stopped spinning out the water after cycles so I contacted Lowe’s because I had an extended warranty. It took 3 weeks from the time I placed the request for repair to it actually being fixed. The washer needed a new sensor, motor and belt.
The same day it was fixed, more problems arose. Now the machine is always off balance no matter how small or large a load. The locking mechanism is hit or miss too. Sent in another repair request and the technician came out again but says there is nothing wrong with it. All it needed was a module “update”. This is not a wi-fi machine, so what needed updating? The machine isn’t working as it should and shouldn’t be having all these issues after only two years of usage. Save yourself time, a headache and avoid this machine.

Avoid these washing machines at all costs. Always out of balance with a half load. I spend two hours constantly adjusting the load that should be done automatically. I don't know who designed these machines, but they need to be fired immediately. I will never purchase a product from GE again.

I bought a GE washer and dryer from Home Depot on April 28, 2025. Since then, I have had several problems with both machines. The washer only adds enough water when set to 'Bulky' and 'Deep Fill.' In other settings, some clothes remain partly dry, and the load often becomes unbalanced, causing the barrel to hit the sides. I often have to stop the cycle to fix the load. The control knob sometimes gets stuck, and water remains in the top dispenser, making it difficult to clean or dry. The washer is supposed to sense the load and adjust the water accordingly, but this does not appear to be working. A technician told me to use deep fill, but even then, the clothes get very tangled.
The dryer has problems, too. The eco mode does not dry clothes well, so I have to use the bulky setting, which takes at least two hours for each load. The technician said this is normal and that Eco mode might not fully dry clothes. I have not been able to get any help. GE has not resolved my concerns or supported their products. Because of this experience, I do not plan to buy from GE again and would not recommend them to others.

Model number: GTW525ACP2WB, SN: AV927312G. Avoid this machine, no matter how you load it or what water level you choose it will put all of your clothes in a ball and thrashes around until it shuts itself off and then you have to readjust the load and restart on about eight out of 10 loads. You literally cannot leave this machine alone and yes, it was leveled out a couple of times. This has been a problem since it was new. The drum hangs from 4 cables see pictures what a joke. I had enough and bought a Speed Queen.

This is my 4th GE washer in 2 years. And I hate them all, the first one had an extended warranty, and it broke before the end of the warranty and I had a free replacement. the second one made my clothes come out dirtier coming out than going in. replaced it within 2 weeks. the third one broke before the extended warranty. it was replaced and now I have my 4th, day one, it sounds like a monster, so loud and grinding, scares my child. It's 24 hours old. I would never buy a GE. I can only replace with GE at the store I originally purchased it. Garbage.

I purchased a GE washer for it to only last about 3 years and I purchased the extended warranty. Assurant made only 1 attempt to service the washer because it stop spinning. I’ve been doing a lot of research only to discover that the washer model that I have was built with a motor that is too small for it to operate properly and this is the reason why it will not spin with large loads although I have an extra large capacity washer. Assurant rather than repair my washer offered me only a partial warranty refund and my issue was never resolved. I have a fairly new washer that does not operate properly and I’m on a fixed income and need my washer fixed stilled. My washer was purchased from Home Depot. I’m sorry but I no longer have my receipt and HD has since updated their database that stores the original information.

Purchased a washing machine and dryer through Lowe’s in Littleton New Hampshire. Had the unit professionally installed and the washing machine made horrible noises and shook the entire house. Good luck with customer service. We are going on 32 days without a washing machine and have spent hundreds of dollars at the laundromat. At this point, we are supposed to be receiving a new washing machine, although that order was put in 15 days ago. We keep calling and emailing every day and it’s always a different story.

I have a brand new GE Profile washer. Every single load I run becomes unbalanced and does not complete the spin cycle. In addition, there are loads that finish and the top of the clothing is still dry. NOTHING looks smells or feels clean at all. Because it unbalances in every single load I cannot throw a load in and leave the house…. I never would have imagined being so frustrated with a washing machine. Buyer beware. I would NEVER EVER recommend GE…. If I could, I’d return it but GE said that wasn’t an option. It’s so bad it may wind up in the curb. Total waste of money…

I bought this washer a month ago at Home Depot. This model doesn’t have the center actuator. Starting it, the noise from the washer, grinding, buzzing is really loud. So any load in the tub the washer spins to balance the load, then water as it spins and wash. As soon as the spin cycle starts it doesn’t balance the load. In spin mode on over 3/4 of the loads the tub’s out of balance bangs while spinning shuts it down. Then I have to stop the washer, lid unlocked and I have to manually balance the load after the wash and then the rinse. Home Depot was great, delivery smooth, installation great. The washer is horrible.

Pretty disappointed in our GE front load washer. It literally died after 3 years -- fortunately under warranty. It's the system board needing replacement -- it was flaky for a few weeks and then wouldn't power on any longer. Really GE I have laptops, desktops, servers, and other electronics that run for years straight without issue -- and your washing machine -used 2 to 3 times a week dies after 3 years? come on -- that's not good. My Mom had a Maytag washer for 30 years and had virtually no issues with it. It's possible to build a low maintenance machine.

I have a GE Profile model washer, came with the house I bought, so I don't have any receipt. I appreciate the extra room from not having an agitator, and I like that it seems pretty conservative with water. But it's a mixed blessing: It doesn't do a good job of "turning over" the full load through the water. Items on the top of the load may never even get wet, through the whole cycle. It seems like the no-agitator and low-water combination is not a good design choice. I've started turning the load over by hand in between the Fill and Wash stages. ("First world problems"? It's not the end of the world, but it is inconvenient.)

I purchased a GE Profile washer/dryer combo unit in September of 2024. Unit worked fine until June of 2025 when the unit began to overheat and not dry. 4 service calls later and replacing multiple components the machine is still not working. On the last service call the technician said he has to order and replace parts that were already replaced. I've called GE consumer relations multiple times and have spent hours on the phone trying to get GE to send me a replacement washer/dryer but am told that the machine has to be deemed "unrepairable", which they will not do. At this point I am 3 months without a working dryer and the warranty is about to expire. GE does not stand by their warranty and do not care about customer relations. I would recommend any other appliance brand before purchasing from GE again.

We ordered a washer and dryer W870 and have had numerous problems with the washer not spinning, not draining, not resetting itself for 24 hours. Now that we are trying to get a GE "BODEWELL") their new "branding" for GE repairs to get an appointment they have been inefficient, their website is filled with errors. They called us less than 24 hours prior to the first appt to say they had changed it to 2 weeks later, then found out our area doesn't have a repair man who works Saturdays, then found out that their website still has days open that they don't have when called. This is the worst customer service for the official GE repair in the world, and even with their new branding, it does not bode well for the consumer. We are now having to wait 2.5 weeks to get a new appointment. Don't use their website to try to schedule. But better yet, don't buy a GE brand.

On April 25, 2023, I purchased a GE washer with a Protection Plan in 5 years at Chester Lowe’s. On August 2024, my washer started having an issue: no signals on digital dashboard. I contacted the Customer Service of Protection Plan which is called Assurant. One week later, they sent a guy to my house. After checking, he said he would come back when he had parts order. Yes, he came back and left again, my washer still didn’t work. Then Assurant emailed me that they wouldn’t fix my washer because there’s a bug infestation at my unit and that caused issue in the washer. Two weeks later, a GE technician showed up, he plugged and the washer worked again without fixing or replacing anything. Thanks God about that.
Then I came to Lowe’s to buy many things for spraying and cleaning the laundry room. This July, the same problem happened again with my washer. I called Assurant to claim protection plan. One week later, they sent me the same guy ahead of played the same game last year. I reached out to GE customer service, they asked me to pay for their technician’s visit and cost more if replacing parts. Finally, I came to Lowe’s four times to talk with three different managers. They tried to help but nothing worked.
Lowe’s sold me the most horrible product and service I have had in my life. When I asked Assurant to refund me $129,99 for protection plan because they didn’t do anything. They emailed me to refund a check with $1.89😀. That’s the most frustrating and disappointing experience I have had with GE washer and Assurant after I paid nearly $1,000 for both of them. Hopefully, nobody else has to get this terrible feeling as mine after reading my review.

The lid flew off, it dented the drywall and is completely crushed on the top. There are plastic pieces everywhere, please for your safety. Do not buy this machine. I bought this top load washer in 2023 along with an extended warranty from Lowes. Three times already a repairman has came to fix it. The first time within 2 months, it would not start the cycle, 2nd time after the manufacturer warranty was up, it wouldn’t drain and now the 3rd time with 1 month left on the extended warranty, the door lock clicks on and off, won’t start a cycle, if it does, then it won’t drain or spin. After lots of research, I found that GE was bought by a China company, this explains why it’s junk. I will never again buy GE products again!
