Absolute scam. The salesman came, wouldn't stop talking. I never received any kind of credit on my account for canceling my current account which was 500$ for early termination. I can't stand what I did. I saved the guy's name and number. I tell everyone in my neighborhood to not let him near

I can not recommend against a company more than Just Energy. First they allowed a unauthorized change om my electric bill from a spouse. Second they were told we had solar and they told my wife it would not be issue. I lost all my net metering and now i i a large amount to my electric company. When I called them I was told we should have filled out a additional application since we have solar to receive our net metering. No one ever told my wife this and no we have to pay met-ed for the chargers., When you talk to them on the phone they are very fraudulent and talk in circles to try to get you to agree with them - very dishonest company and Sam's club should not allow a company like this to approach their customers in a store. I will also be leaving Sam's club for this.

Last month's bill went up $300. Called talked to customer service. Got nowhere. Said paid that last year. Well this is new year. Snowed last year. It's been warm this year. From. $180 to $500 is a lot. Asked about meter being off. All he could say is I paid that last year. I am on a fixed budget that's a lot. Not good customer service for answers. Do not use this company.

All these people leaving a bad review clearly don't know how to read their bills... they are not describing my experience with Just Energy at all. Just Energy is the only company in Texas I've talked to that will allow you to cancel the contract without penalty by asking for it during the initial enrollment, you just have to give them a heads up before you switch away so they can try offering you something better. Their deposits are one of the cheapest, other companies charge up to $600. They let you switch your plan at any time. Their phone system isn't the best, but they make up for it with their flexibility and affordability.

Be 1 day late and you get a disconnection threat from them even if you have been paying on time for more than a year. What a disgusting company. Their app is very badly made. And their prices are not consistent as they seem to have advertised.

I have had Just Energy for 2 years now. I have not had issues until it came renewal time. They have pestered me for 5 or 6 months by phone (multiple phone calls a day) by email and by text even after I told them to stop calling me, I was NOT going to renew with them. They rely on those who don't have time or don't know how to shop for energy prices. Their renewal price was considerably higher than rates I found on Powertochoose or Energybot. I would NEVER do business with this company for the simple fact that they disregard and disrespect any wishes you have.

I want to warn others about my recent experience with a Just Energy door-to-door salesperson who identified himself as Kia. In my personal experience, the representative was extremely pushy and argumentative, and he would not take “no” for an answer. What should have been a quick interaction ended up wasting about 40 minutes of my time. What concerned me most was that I was told I wasn’t being signed up for any kind of plan — but later I found out I had been enrolled anyway, and at a rate much higher than what was discussed. I felt completely misled. This was not communicated clearly at all, and it left me feeling like the process was deceptive. Based on my experience, I strongly recommend being very cautious if a Just Energy salesperson comes to your door. I personally would not trust them and would avoid engaging with their door-to-door sales altogether.

Not a customer, and I likely never will be with the salesman I just dealt with earlier today. Door to door sales is an incredibly boring and, at times, mind-numbing job, especially when dealing with customers who do not want anything to do with your services. I understand that. However, today, a Michel Pierson (or Peterson, Pierce, something ending with a P, a gentleman who was training another sales team member) knocked on my door and was incredibly pushy, lying with every other sentence he was speeding through. Michel kept saying that "I'm not trying to sell you anything or switch your provider" while asking for information in seeing if I qualify for some promotion without showing me what the promotion was. Michel did not take 'No' for an answer when I stated MULTIPLE times (over eight that I counted) that I was not interested in any of the services he was trying to provide.
He spoke incredibly fast and was incredibly rude and pushy, insinuating that I was stupid for wanting to verify the information he was telling me even though he was giving me no material to look over. He was, essentially, saying "It's eleven cents. Just trust me bro." While saying that he "couldn't understand why I wouldn't want to switch" after I had, again, told him that I did not feel comfortable with allowing some strange man to handle my phone (which he had grabbed for multiple times during this interaction). He was a strange and pushy man who signed me up for an account that I did not ask for, refused to take 'no' for an answer, insinuated that I was unintelligent for not wanting him to sign me up for anything, lied multiple times when I asked if this was going to sign me up for anything, and was all around very unpleasant to speak with.
When he sent me the DocuSign agreement to sign your contract, he tried to take my phone AGAIN to sign it for me without giving me any time to read it over, lying AGAIN in saying that he's not trying to switch me anywhere and everything would be 'paid for' and that if my current energy provider tried sending me a bill, to just not pay it because Just Energy would, supposedly, pay it for me.
Since I am not a customer, I was going to just let this horrid interaction slide as a one-off thing and be done with it, even though it took nearly an hour of my valuable time of me trying to get SOME sort of verifiable information out of him. HOWEVER, when I was on the phone with the company itself to determine whether or not this was a valid business practice, and to make sure that I wasn't signed up for anything I didn't want, he knocked on my door AGAIN (for an extended period of time that was very much unacceptable) to try to speak with me.
I ignored him because I was on the phone with a representative (I do not remember her name, but she was very patient and helpful with me and directed me to an actual website where I could look at the rates he was claiming before verifying that I was not signed up to switch energy companies, the timestamp of the phone was around 2pm central standard time, she was a saint). What led me to write this review was Michel's following actions.
As I live in an apartment complex, which is privately owned, you are NOT allowed to solicit ANY services on the property without the consent and permission of the property owner, so I went to the office shortly after getting off the phone with the other agent to inform my leasing office and to see if they even had permission. They did NOT have permission, and had instead parked on the far side of the property to solicit their services and bypass the property owner, traveling in an unmarked silver vehicle with no front license plate that I can post for identifying information.
As I was heading back to my unit, I saw a gaggle of your "Just Energy" associates standing outside the building just in front of mine, and your agent, Michel, decided to shout at me "Your neighbor has our energy! Did you verify everything yet? You finally settled down yet? Yeah, you go verify all of that!" because apparently he had to get the last word in on an already unpleasant interaction.
This occurred in Sherman, TX, and Michel claimed that he was from Dallas, TX. His attitude and how he conducted himself was incredibly unprofessional, appallingly rude, and is the deciding factor of me not switching energy providers to your company. While I am sure that the company has lower rates (I've done extensive research in the going rates of the energy companies in the area and Just Energy is apparently notorious for having garbage and sleazy salesmen) I do not believe that this company will treat its existing customers well if this is how they treat potential customers.
Michel needs to work on his listening skills, understand that when a customer repeatedly says that they are not comfortable with having people switch their energy providers for them under the guise of "seeing if you qualify" for a promotion to LEAVE THEM ALONE, and he needs to understand that if he wants to have better sales and a better experience with his customers, he cannot insinuate that they are unintelligent or shout at them from across parking lots when they don't do what he wants them to. If any of your associates knock on my door again (this is the second time I've dealt with you people), I will be reporting the business to the BBB and let them handle your unprofessional conduct.

I want to warn others about my experience with Just Energy Group, Inc. Despite paying a deposit for a fixed-rate plan, my bills have never gone below $580 per month, even when my kWh usage decreased significantly. The company continues to increase the price per kWh, ignoring my contract and deposit, which is completely unfair. On top of the billing issues, I have been subjected to daily harassment calls, including at night, pressuring me to renew my contract. Additionally, I have faced multiple improper disconnections, including during the hottest months in Texas, despite enrolling in deferred payment arrangements online. They falsely claimed my deferred payments didn’t go through, which is untrue.

Just Energy is by far the worst utility company I’ve ever dealt with. Their prices are ridiculously high — I’m paying over $280 a month for a tiny apartment I barely even stay in! They tack on hidden fees, transportation charges, and other mysterious costs that make no sense. Their customer service is awful — rude, unhelpful, and completely unresponsive. On top of that, they harass you constantly with nonstop calls, texts, and emails, even while you’re at work. This company is nothing but a scam. They lure you in with misleading promises and then drain your wallet with outrageous bills. Avoid Just Energy at all costs — don’t let these thieves take advantage of you like they did to me!

Got conned into signing up with Just Energy at Sam's Club with pitch it would save me money on my gas bill. Well, just got a my first fall bill and after seeing the sticker shock of it I look and see Just Energy is charging $12.29 per Mcf vs $3.17 that Consumers Energy is charging! Unbelievable fraud and deception!! After calling and cancelling I'm told it takes one to two billing cycles to drop off, and winter is just starting! Sam's Club should be ashamed, I will not be renewing my membership. That is certain.

I was happy with the service and prices over the last two years. My service is up for renewal in December. I started receiving calls in AUGUST to renew. I answered them and told them I’d look into it when the date for renewal was closer. They continued to call. Sometimes up to 7 times a day, but always multiple times a day. I asked to not be contacted any more. Told them I wasn’t renewing due to the multiple calls a day I was receiving. Continued to get calls. It’s now October and I had a lady show up to my house asking me to renew. I told her that due to the predatory nature of their process to try to get me to renew I was absolutely no longer interested. They continued to call 5-7 times a day. I blocked their number. Now they are calling me from a DIFFERENT number!! I have never seen such despicable behaviors towards an existing customer. Your process of trying to retain my business lost it for life.

Some Customer Service is bad, I wasted a lot of time just trying to change a credit card number, On September 29, 2025 trying to pay then bill. I was told now I had to do autopay the credit card, the representative did not take the payment after I had given him all my information causing Just Energy to tell me via text that the service would be disconnected. Although I was able to get the problem resolved on October 1st I should not have been put through all the stress. I tried to go online, but somehow the system will not let me change the password. My subscription can you please get with your IT people to help fix the app and the automated system; I never had a problem like this before. Just energy you should at least try to help out your customers.

Do not ever use this company. If there is any issue with your account, you will never find anyone to help you. I'm locked into a contract with them and have been trying to get an issue resolved for over 8 months.

I beg you guys to not go with this company of liars. Because it's summer the usage for 2 months was around the 5k. We got a bill for $1200. The market average on same usage is $750. The contractor that I sign the contract with was nowhere to be found and no one from customer service can has helped me

I switched to Just Energy in April of 2025 through Sam's Club membership. I was told that my termination fee with my old company would be refunded to me in 2-3 billing cycles as a credit once I submitted my final bill with the fee attached. I did that April 23rd, 2025. I received confirmation that the document was received. Fast forward to Aug 2025, and I still don't have the credit to my account in question. I called customer service where the 1st representative informed me that the document was never received. I asked if I re submit the document, is there another 2-3 month wait. He told me it would appear on my next billing cycle.
I ask could I receive that in writing to avoid this issue again. I was informed that they don't communicate via email. I informed them that someone from their company do communicate via email because I have a whole thread with them. After a couple of escalations, the issue still wasn't resolved. I've attached the email thread below BUT redacted my personal information. I will be terminating my service with this joke of a company TODAY!

Nope. We have solar panels. When we switched to Just Energy, I let the agent know we wanted to be a part of solar buy back, and we made the switch. What a massive mistake. Our bills kept going higher, no mention of credits. I call them and they open an investigation, where they listen to the recorded phone call and determine if I had requested what I did. They found it to be true, so gave us credit for a single month only, and proceeded to inform me that the plan I requested was not in effect until paperwork from a variety of sources was completed. Went back to Green Mountain Energy. No hassle, no additional paperwork, no complications - straightforward. This was a bad experience, and I am disgusted with Just Energy.

I strongly urge anyone considering this company to think twice before signing anything. What they don’t tell you upfront is that you're being locked into a 3-year contract. At first, everything seems great — in the first year, the energy rates are low and even appear to be more affordable than competitors. It’s all part of the trap. But once you’re past that initial "honeymoon period," things take a dramatic turn for the worse. In years two and three, the rates skyrocket to outrageous levels — often much higher than what other providers charge. By the time you realize what’s happening, it’s too late. You're legally bound to stay with them and pay those inflated prices, no matter how unfair they become.
This business model feels deliberately misleading. They lure you in with attractive rates, then exploit your locked-in status to overcharge you later. There's no easy way out, and customer service is no help once you're stuck in the contract. Please, do yourself a favor and read the fine print — or better yet, choose a more transparent and customer-friendly energy provider. Don’t fall for the same trap I did.

Just Energy make it very difficult to cancel. If you call the number provided there is no cancel option and when I emailed they took several emails over several days to get back to me. Now they are telling me it will take two billing cycles to cancel my service… What they do is they charge more in the summer so they can charge less in the winter.. so when I’m paying so much for electricity because of my air conditioner I’m also paying so much for gas in the summer because of this service that I cannot immediately cancel.. so they’re going to take my two large payments this summer before they cancel me. I feel ripped off. No one should use this service.

This place is a joke. I tried to switch to Just Energy and I was assured and promised that I would have electricity the following day. Well needless to say they lied. On top of that I had to spend 500$ on a motel room for a few days and on top of that I had 300$ worth of groceries in my fridge and deep freezer that went to waste.

I called to setup a new service. They promised me the light would be setup by the 9th of July. Lies. They had me calling AEP and tenant's old light company to fix a switch hold that I had no control over. Me and my kids were without light for more than 2 days, all they did was give me the run around and they never resolved anything. Now I’m waiting for my cancellation even though I never had light with this company. Complete joke. Make sure you all don’t pay your deposit right away unless service is set up already. I had to move out to a family members until I wait for a refund and resolve this issue with another light company.

Thieves! We have solar and batteries installed. Our solar app shows how much power we pull from the grid all month. It was a total of 20 kWh. They charged us for 657 kWh. Rep said it doesn’t matter and that’s what we have to pay.

I felt tricked into it Just Energy! They made it seem that I would be just saving energy, never told me I would be switching carriers! I called immediately and had it canceled. I was told that it was definitely going to be canceled! Over 10 days later I get a letter in the mail saying welcome to just energy! When I was told that it would be canceled! Never in my life have I ever felt tricked or lied to than I do now! And when I call Monday they are not going to deal with a happy person and it better be canceled immediately and I will not pay a dime!

This company is a scam. When I first signed up for it, prices were fantastic. This past year it's been over $400 every month. They allowed me to do payment arrangements to help with such high bills. I called and they said that my bills were high because I was not in contract, so I got into contract. The bills are the same and now I can't make payment arrangement to break the bill in half.

Terrible sales tactics. Will not leave you alone 4 months prior your contract expiration. No matter how many times you ask them to not call you, you will receive a calls 3-4 times a week and sometimes everyday (Sunday included). Will not recommend.

I was promised lower bills and a great rate but now finding out the scam and misrepresentation of this company to get us to switch. I would be ok if my bills aren’t going up and up if it really did lower them some. Instead of the info I was given there were variants to contribute to higher bill. We decreased all our usage and doing dishes and laundry at night and instead it’s going up to way ridiculous prices. Customer service not helpful or sympathetic, just outright lying to me

This was the worst experience I've ever had. Customer Service is a waste. They do not give customer service. You can't understand the customer service team. I asked for an extension. It was scheduled for the 18th. I asked the lady several times. She stated yes the 18th then as soon as I make the payment I get an email saying the 13th. Well I don't get paid until the 18 and the supervisor and all said, "We'll you have to go without lights until the 18th when you can make the payment."
See now me and my kids are out of lights and all she stated they could do is coach their associate and that she should now have said the 18th the seysem only lets them go 10 days. Well I paid my lights on the 6th so wouldn't that be the 16th and not the 13th. Then I was told I was in a 20 year contract which I'm sure was misspoken also. I will be canceling and finding a company with good customer service and reliability. I've been with them for 6 months. Ran into a problem with all the hard wild in texas but my kids and myself have to do without for 5 days because of the associate telling one thing and not another. The crazy part is they listened to the recording and heard the 18th but could do nothing about it but coach the lady.
