My experience with this airline in San Juan, Puerto Rico was extremely disappointing. The customer service was unacceptable — staff were unprofessional, unhelpful, and showed little to no interest in resolving issues. The entire process was disorganized and frustrating, turning what should have been a simple travel experience into a very stressful one. There was a clear lack of communication and customer care. I do not recommend this airline. There are many other airlines with far better service, professionalism, and respect for their passengers.

I fly Copa Airlines once every two months. I have had several good experiences and several bad experiences. Customer service is not a company wide priority. I have had to address staff more than once when they are being rude and dismissive. On my last flight there was not enough blankets or headphones for passengers in first class. The staff act as if they were doing us a favor by providing one for two people to share. The company as a whole needs to be trained on customer service and satisfaction. And when restocking planes a simple count of supplies needs to be completed.

I purchased a business class ticket for a flight from Panama to Los Angeles, a seven hour flight on top of that. When I arrived at my gate, I was notified that my seat have been changed to a regular seat. The gate agents acted as if they didn’t speak English when they were just on the speaker announcing boarding in English very rude and dismissive. Just ask for my email and telephone number and that was it when I boarded the plane the staff was aware of the situation and a couple of the flight attendants were super sweet attentive and helpful.
When I call customer service the next day arriving home I was given the option to file a complaint online when I asked the customer service representative. What was the issue or what could be the issue? They gave me the runaround and told me they didn’t know I asked to speak to a supervisor and they told me that the supervisor was gonna tell me the same thing the customer service I was given by this airline was horrible. Besides the flight attendant I’d give this airline a -5 if I could.

Very Disappointing Experience – LAX to Panama Round Trip. I recently flew Copa Airlines round trip from LAX to Panama City and back, and both flights were extremely disappointing. On the outbound flight, only one restroom was working in the entire economy section, which caused long lines and discomfort throughout the flight. The food was served cold and looked like leftovers, which was very unpleasant.
Unfortunately, the return flight had the exact same issue — again, only one restroom working for economy passengers. To make matters worse, the cabin crew on the return flight was rude and unpleasant, which made the experience even more uncomfortable. I expected much better service and basic functionality, especially for an international flight. Due to these repeated issues, I would not recommend Copa Airlines based on this experience.

Worst customer service every! They literally treat humans worse than the cows on my farm! They actually yelled at me in Spanish (I don't speak Spanish) because I was sleeping in a chair at gate 217 instead of the gate I was supposed to be at (218). Might I add I had over a 6 hour lay over after a flight that left at 2am. This was the only flight option that was given which is just freaking ridiculous. They also wouldn't let me pay to upgrade to business class for I have no idea why. Everything about this experience left me very angry and not wanting to come back to South America at all.

I had a flight from Texas to Lima with a one night stay in Panama. I booked Copa for the life flat seats from Austin to Panama. Of course that aircraft was changed and the substandard product didn’t even have foot rest. There was no compensation and of course by the time it happened, flights were considerably higher to go on another airline.
Fast forward to the onboard experience. The Panama Lima flight saw the flight attendant, not offering business class passengers or any other passengers anything to drink until an hour and a half into the flight. I observed from my row one seat the flight attendant pull the curtain and was eating and drinking before we ever got a chance to get something to drink. I was appalled. I am a travel agent for one of the biggest travel agencies on a global scale. I’ve flown many other airlines. First time for this airline and last time. I wish I could upload a video of my tray bouncing up and down like it was Jell-O. That at least made me laugh. I wrote them a complaint they did respond and actually did address the issues however no offer of a few miles for what happened to me was made. I can see why this airline gets such terrible reviews.

I received the worst customer experience from Copa Airlines today in my flight a Miami- Panama, a lady was terrible rude with my husband and I and with other passengers when we are boarding, another staff were concerned about her attitude, people like her would not work with customers.

Try to sell with “cheaper” prices but seats have to be purchased or you won’t be able to travel. Lack of seriousness, disrespect with the customer and very poor customer service are the new Copa Airlines features. Please be aware when purchasing an airline ticket.

I don't refer or recommend anyone to fly this Copa Airlines. Unfortunately I had to fly with Copa Airlines after 5 years. I was constantly having my luggage pilfered and my belongings stolen when the flight had a layover in Panama. But I had a death in my family and I had to travel to Brazil. It was the only flight available. And this company's employees people, take advantage to the fact that all the luggage need to be loaded in a new plane, stolen a bunch of items from my luggage. That means they are not taking care of those thieves. Their thieves are at large and doing the same they did 5 years ago.
I arrived with no clothes, sandals, because they everything.. And these customer services people make so many excuses. They tried to blame on the last airline that I flied with. When I arrived at the airport in Brazil (coming from Panama City) I found my luggage unusually light and rolled it myself from the luggage belt to the next airline's counter. Shame on you Copa Airlines, you people have a job because I was a passenger.

I don't recommend traveling with Copa Airlines. I bought a ticket with them to Panama, and since I can't travel, I asked for my money back, but they won't give it back. They stole my money. For reasons beyond my control, I can't use the ticket, and I won't get my money back. Don't travel with Copa.

Warning to travelers. This was my third time flying with Copa Airlines, and it will be my last. Customer service is terrible across the board. The staff are rude, dismissive, and act as if they’re doing you a favor by letting you fly. There is no real service, no respect, and absolutely no sense of accountability. Even when you pay extra for privileges, they don’t honor them. It feels like the airline and its employees can do whatever they want, with no regard for the customer experience. Why pay for “benefits” if you’re going to be treated poorly anyway? Travelers deserve better. I strongly advise considering other airlines until Copa decides to treat its customers the way they should be treated.

My part we took a flight with your airline on 30 Aug 2025, from Orlando to Montevideo, stop over in Panama.. At that time, we did our check in and the counter lady (that's was pretty rude) asked us if we wanted to check in our carry on, and it would be free, so we did just that.. Next thing you know she is charging us $200.. She said it was oversized or I understood that and instead of me saying, "No we will carry it and not be charged," I just paid the money. But honestly our experience with that staff member at the counter was crappy. She could have told us it's going to be 200 for an extra luggage and I would have told her, "NO! I WILL CARRY IT INSTEAD.." THEY ARE REALLY QUICK AT Charging YOU WHATEVER THEY CAN GET FROM YOU..

I paid for a business class ticket and when I arrived at the airport I was given an economy class seat. I was never informed prior to boarding the aircraft. I later found out two other passengers experienced the same. Copa has offered the other two passengers $400 credit to fly with them again. I have yet to receive any compensation but this first experience doesn’t really instill confidence in taking a second flight.

Was charged twice for a total of 10 plane tickets. I have been going back and forth for over 2 weeks trying to get my 2,000$ back when they charged me for a 9:45pm flight we were never scheduled to take on top of being charged for our 6:40 flight. Calling is no help. They say they cannot do anything and to file a claim online which was already done and two weeks later nothing. They are still going back and forth when all documents have been provided! Never again.

My wife and I booked Business Class tickets specifically for the lay down seats, more leg room, and larger TV screens for in-flight entertainment. Up until we boarded the aircraft, including an email from Copa less than 24hrs before the fight, we thought we would be flying in Copa's Boeing 737-900 Max aircraft that featured all of the above in the Business Class section. Well at the last minute, Copa switched aircraft to their much lesser equipped Boeing 737-800 of which Business Class had none of the features we paid for. My seat even had LESS leg room than in Economy with a metal support bar sticking out.
When confronting the rude flight attendance about a refund, credit, something, anything for not receiving features/service we paid A LOT of extra money for, she made it seem like this is "normal" business practice for them. What a racket this dishonest Airline Company is running. If you do not want to get ripped off and have your money stolen from a shady company then steer clear of ever using Copa Airlines for your air travel needs. I will NEVER consider them an option again, nor will I allow any of my loved ones to spend their hard earned money on this junk airline.

I have never had such a third world experience with an airline. They gave us no warning of new immigration measures to Costa Rica that came out AFTER we bought our ticket. Not only could they not refund us, but they made us buy a completely different flight. These were first class tickets with loyalty miles. Are you kidding? We have seniority, pay for high end seats and you treat us like we are people off the street who bought out tickets on Expedia or something. Never again, will I fly with this trash airline.

Copa changed my flight without my authorization and didn't notify me about the flight change. This caused a loss of money and I lost my family without being able to say goodbye to them. I also paid for my seat, and they put me in any seat they wanted, separated from my mother. This was the first and last flight I traveled with Copa. My flight was 5 am and they change at 8am so I was in the airport for 5 hour or more.

I just have to say that I had a really bad experience this past May 20. I was so excited about visiting Jean that I’ve been with so many years bringing my older children when I got to LAX due to extremely heavy traffic. We got there a little late but we got into the airport. There was nobody to help at the desk with the airline was supposed to be then we went to the customer service desk and we got a phone number one, 800 which Wasn’t useful. I call my travel agent and it wasn’t helping me at all so I keep on trying to call the airline and then I got somebody on the line and they said I have to wait until the the airplane that I was supposed to take arrive at Medellin Colombia, I was devastated.
I waited for hours calling the airline over and over and calling my travel agent would not help it was late and I was forced to use all the credit cards to buy a different airline ticket from American Airlines. Then I got an answer from my travel agent saying that I have to pay a penalty plus more money for the ticket which it was gonna be more money that I paid before I was exhausted and tired. I ended up going to other places with long layovers and extra money sleeping in the airport COPA did not want it to help customer service is Horrible. If you can do your trip through an American airline is so much better.

I want to share a complaint about Copa Airlines: I arrived two hours early. At the service counter, I asked a few questions about a delicate piece of equipment I was carrying in my luggage. The response? “No problem!” But at the security checkpoint—there was a problem. They told me I needed to go back to the service counter. Time wasted. When I got there, not a single employee was present. Then someone from the airline called me and asked if I was near the gate. I explained the situation… and their response? “Oh, OK. I can help you in 45 minutes.” Moral of the story: missed flight. And here I am, still waiting for those 45 minutes. I do not recommend this airline. As the saying goes: “Cheap ends up being expensive.” Lesson learned.

I traveled on Copa in March. The flight was scheduled to leave on the 12th at 9pm but due to mechanical problem the flight left at 7am on the 13th. My bag was broken, I paid to use the lounge, paid for my connecting to my final destination with no recompense.

I booked my trip well in advance thru CheapOair from Fort Lauderdale to Lima and a week before the trip I received an email saying that the Panama-lima portion had been cancelled. I called both cheapoair and Copa and both confirmed the information received by email. I tried desperately to find a flight for at least close to the price I had paid for the original reservation to no avail. I told Copa that the flight I was told had been modified still show for sale. They said it took time for the website to update. Really guys? It is still showing. How long does an update take?

LOST MY BAG. Horrible airline. They lost my bag. The flight attendant did not put a tag on my bag and therefore they lost it. When I asked them to check the cameras they said they can't. They are literally the worst. Very, very unintelligent workers.

We booked a flight through Chase with my maiden name. I wasn’t let on the flight because of the discrepancy with my new name, so I rebooked, without my husband for the following morning. My return flight was then cancelled because I was a “no show”. I booked a flight the next day with them for an additional fee. We spent over 8 hours on the phone with Chase and Copa trying to get on my return flight, ruining nearly 2 full days of holiday.
A $107 name change fee would apply for my reservation, which we paid. Once we went to check in Copa then told us I was no longer on the flight. Now that there was no longer a seat on that flight we would have to pay an additional $100 change fee plus a $600 difference in flight rate. All of this to make a change for the original $300 flight. There is a constant runaround and company lines. They don’t care about what you do because there is not enough competition where they need to care. We visit family here several times a year. This is not the first time we have had an issue with Copa and will never be flying with them again. I will certainly book through competition Avianca, United, Spirit, or American Airlines.

The ticket prices we got from Washington Dulles to San Jose, Costa Rica, via Panama City, Panama were a lot less than what other airlines were offering, but that’s about the only good thing about it. Coming back from Costa Rica, we switched planes in Panama City. It was sooo hot in the airport! Our new gate was one gate down, so we grabbed something to eat and then were told that we had to go thru security again at the gate. They had rigged up a place to pass luggage through an X-ray and we had to dump all liquids. We then had to stand in this little bitty space for a very long time, with nothing to drink, in the heat. I had purchased 2 window seats 5 months earlier, so my daughter and I could sleep.
We were among the first to board, but were reissued boarding passes as we stepped up to board and I was moved to the back of the plane in a middle seat. Nobody would help me or explain why I was moved. We got a little paper cup with a drink and then a couple hours later, another half paper cup of water with a meal. It was so miserable being hot, thirsty, and crowded. I probably won’t be flying Copa any more.

I have never and will never fly on this airline again. They are so dysfunctional, on boarding and deboarding the plane when it reach the destination. And not only that, they have to take into consideration that not everyone speaks or understands Spanish. They have to correct a lot of flaws in this airline before it can make a prosperous airline. The flight attendant, needs to take into consideration, that once a seat is assigned to someone, does not give them the right to make someone move from their assigned seat seat. This airline needs to restructure their whole function of the plane. It was my first and last flying with this airline.

I had the worst experience with Copa Airlines in Trinidad on my way to Panama (final destination to Washington Dulles, IAD) on 5 March 2025. A stewardess harassed me about alcohol I was bringing on the plane from "Duty Free" after my passport and boarding pass were verified at purchase. The rude stewardess only stopped me from getting on the plane and gave no clear directions for me to properly board my flight. The incorrigible stewardess intentionally held me until all the passengers boarded the airplane and then instructed me to check my bag after several of her coworkers, other customers and I requested that she provide clear, standardized guidance. The stewardess was a terrible representative of Copa Airlines and because of her actions and lack of customer service skills my first flight with Copa Airlines will be my last.

Non existent customer support, no one answers calls, they only have automated service which if you don’t make a choice it disconnects the call. The options to choose in the menu didn’t offered what I needed or to transfer to an agent. Their flight was over 3 hours delayed, missed my connection and ended up having to wait 24 hours at the Panama airport, they did not offered accommodations, even though originally they told passengers that they would, needles to say passengers were not happy. Restrooms in the plane were dirty, the floor was filthy and the whole place stank!
Movies are old, same movies to and from Montevideo, LAX and SFO. The site is very primitive, doesn’t offer information about what kind of plane they are operating, checking wasn’t working the day before on their site, it asked for my name and last name, but it kept telling me to put a valid response. Horrible or nonexistent customer service no matter where you go, online, phone. Their flight crew was courteous and helpful, so were people at the counters once they got there.

Is better to travel with a local airline that have responsibility and face that with a brand like this that have no assist for his customers and don’t care about the passengers. This company don’t offer any kind of support in case of fly cancellations or delays out of the control of the passenger.

I am extremely disappointed with the customer service I received from Copa Airlines, specifically from a representative named Christian **. I had a time-sensitive issue, and instead of assisting me, Christian was rude, arrogant, and dismissive throughout the entire call. When I requested to speak to a supervisor or another representative who might be able to help, he repeatedly talked over me and flat-out refused. He showed no willingness to assist in any way, even going as far as to remain silent for extended periods during the call before hanging up on me.
Thankfully, when I later called back, another agent resolved my issue efficiently. However, my experience with Christian ** was so appalling that I’ve decided to never fly with Copa Airlines again. I will also ensure that my friends and family avoid this airline, as no one deserves to be treated so poorly. Copa Airlines, if this is how you allow your representatives to treat your customers, I suggest you reconsider your standards for customer service.

I purchase 2 tickets to fly to lax to San Pedro sula Honduras. The system was show me the price and the date. I press the day and the price diciembre 20 then for some reason when I make the payment was change the date. I call customer service next day. I spoke to a agent. She said she will leave the ticket open. I make a complaint to my bank because the lady was tell to is better to make a claim on the bank. After that waiting for day the bank won’t help me. I call again. They said they close the ticket and steal my money was 780$ dollars. Now I contact bbb to complain. If they don’t response I’ll take it to the court to small claim and sue them for malicious business. I’ll wait for the respond to Copa Airlines.
