Very poor staff. Was told they no Kleenex for the rooms. Not very clean. Had to walk across outside driveway to use restroom while waiting for our room. Outside restroom was very dirty. No hand papers. Toilet looks it had not be cleaned in a few days. Faucet was ready to fall the sink. Was one hour before check in and they waned to charge $30 dollars extra. I will never stay at a Best Western hotel or recommend the hotel anybody.

I booked a reservation for Best Western on the Best Western Website, which is not the best. I mistakenly booked it for the wrong day - the website kept bringing me back to the date I was booking, not the date I was reserving for. I called the number immediately after clicking the 'reserve' button to ask for help fixing my mistake. (8:45 pm I booked a room for that night when it was meant to be the next day). I was told on the phone that this couldn't be fixed by them and I had to contact customer relations the next day b/c they were closed for the day. I left a message for customer relations that night just in case they didn't want to help me the next day since time had passed.

At 7am the next day I was on the phone and was told that customer relations could not fix this issue and I would need to contact the hotel directly. It took me calling over and over again for the hotel manager to finally call me back, telling me she couldn't fix it either but go ahead and book a room for the night and we could see if maybe a refund could come through but that I need to contact the booking agent - which was BEST WESTERN in the first place! I told her I couldn't afford to put another $300 on my credit card. She offered no help. So I am completely frustrated with Best Western and will never stay there again.

When you read these reviews and people comment on how bad the hotel is. You should listen to them. I wish I had. My wife and I stayed at the Augusta Georgia Claussen Road hotel. Reviews were bad, booked anyway. The bed frames had rusty, sharp pieces of metal sticking out on the sides of both beds. My wife cut her ankle on this metal. Causing a deep bruise and cut. We were concerned about infection and contacted the front desk. Lady stated they would look into it. Last we heard. Metal still there two days later. We filed an accident report SIG Management. Followed up with several emails and calls. No reply. Next time you see a bunch of poor reviews it is because it is true.

We made reservations to meet our children and grandchildren at the Sparta, WI, Best Western. We specifically chose this hotel for the fun-looking pictures of the pool and breakfast area to spend some time as a family. On arrival, we learned the pool was closed and had been closed for some time. Now I've read in other reviews it may have been years, but I don't know that. We asked for a refund of our reservation. Linda, the manager, was unmoving and seemed completely uncaring about our desire to not stay at her hotel that didn't offer the amenities it promised.

She pointed out the website stated the pool was closed. We had 6 adults look over the website BEFORE we made the reservations, and none of us caught that, even when we were specifically looking for a pool for our little ones. We did find it hidden in a paragraph, first stating that the electric charge station was closed. Not needing electric charging, I must have thought the rest of the paragraph referred to that. The breakfast room was also roped off and dark. When we asked about that, she said it would open in the morning IF they had staff there to supervise!

We have all traveled a lot over the years, and none of us had ever run into such a disingenuous situation at check-in. My husband and I were about to sign in, figuring we had no other choice, when Linda threatened to have us kicked out and call the sheriff! Luckily, the rest of our group was down the street renting time at the pool at another hotel since the kids were expecting to swim. After being threatened, we felt we were not safe there and decided to forgo the money we were already charged and stay elsewhere in town, not far away, where we were greeted with hospitality and respect, and a pool. I don't know what is going on with this hotel, but it is pretty obvious it is not hosting families and providing what the website boasts. Proceed with caution. I felt like we dodged a bullet, so to speak.

First of all I booked a room through Trustpilot or Best Western Hotels, and they were liars. Liars, liars. I purchased the protection plan for in case I had to cancel the reservations and then when I called the number. All you get is AI. Finally got hold of a real person by the name of Stephen, who said that he had no way of canceling my reservation. And there were terms involved which I canceled based on weather, which was one of the terms you can use. He said that he tried to notify the front desk at the Best Western and Hazlet, where I booked and he said that he couldn't contact them. And then he said he couldn't contact them and he couldn't give us the direct phone number to the hotel.

In Hazlet, he said he couldn't cancel the Reservations, even though I paid $16 for a cancellation fee. At any time no conditions involved, so I notified the Better Business Bureau and I notified the New Jersey State Attorney General's office about this. I wait to see if I get a refund. I notified Discover Card and I will dispute it and it shouldn't be a problem. I notified Best Western Hotel finally in Hazlet. Very nice lady answered the phone. She said that it had been canceled, but I don't know if they're going to charge me for it. I notified Discover again and they said I was billed for it, so I have a dispute going on with them in 10 days.

I would not trust this agency. I think it stinks. They're liars, and it's a third party reservation. You can contact Best Western Hotel directly. Number is **. Only go through them. Don't go through the third party because they trick you, they're liars. And they're not the Best Western. I call them the Worst Western Hotel franchise.

Most horrible hotel chain and corporate office ever. I checked into a Best Western hotel in Mesquite, TX and the bedspread had urine on it. The hotel didn’t even offer me another room but told corporate they did and refuse to give my money back. I had to go find another hotel to stay in. I called corporate customer service and heck yeah I got mad and cussed 'cause the agents were absolutely horrible and has horrible customer service.

Finally got a call from Elizabeth at corporate and instead of taking accountability for urine on the bed she started griping at me regarding me telling the agent to F off when I wasn’t getting anywhere with customer service after multiple calls. Heck yeah I was mad and wanted my money back but corporate called to just attack me. I used to be a diamond member but I’ll be dang if I ever go to another best western ever. I’ll go to a Motel 6 before I go to a best western again. At least with Motel 6 I’ve never had a bed that smelled like urine. I’ve never been in any hotel where the bed smelled like urine. That is a health violation and disgusting.

I have filed a complaint with the BBB, Mesquite health department and filed a dispute with my bank. This hotel chain has no integrity, honesty or ethics and Elizabeth said I had no integrity. I’m not the one that is a lying thief. I highly do not recommend best western hotel chain cause they will gaslight you and turn the tables on you real quick when they are the ones that is in the wrong. Beware!

Honest review. We first arrived to our room that we booked on a 3rd party app. 1st observation was towel was stained with yellow looking substance. 2nd observation was the temperature in the room would not heat, cranked the thermostat to 84 and left to shop for 3 hours. Once arriving the room was still 55 degrees. Room 234. I brought this to the front desk attention and he gave us a replacement room (233). He wanted us to pack everything up and bring back to the desk to get new room keys. Very inconvenient, I suggested he book us out of 234, give us room keys for 233 and come with us to retrieve our items to shift to the room right next to it. That worked. Once in room 233 the 3rd observation was the sink would not drain, the plug was activated and luckily I was able to reach under the sink to open the plug for sink to drain.

4th observation. The carpet, disgusting, stains everywhere. Hotel can rent a rug shampooer from the mall next door to it to clean these stains properly. 5th observation. There was extremely poor water pressure which made showering take 3 times as long. 6th observation was the beds were hard, felt like I was sleeping on a sheet of plywood. 7th observation was towels in pool area were not stocked for beginning of day. We had to go to the front desk to get towels. 8th observation during breakfast all garbage were overflowing and I had to mention to staff that we couldn't discard our trash as there was no more room in all 3 garbage. 9th observation if you would like a quiet stay it likely will not happen as rooms were by the pool and by 8am we woke to kids screaming and playing in the pool.

With all this said I potentially would stay again if the price was right. I personally would not pay more than $60 usd per night as that's what I would value the stay at. There is plenty of room for improvement, some preventative maintenance, deep cleaning, keeping up on regular cleanliness, and making sure the customers don't need to ask for towels or to throw items in the garbage.

I’m writing this because I want you to be careful. When we called in to book a room we were tied into a 3rd party person who was going to book us for two different days. We hung up and from the email we recognized we were booked twice for the same day and not scheduled for the second day. We called back, they wouldn’t correct the error and refused to refund us. They also said they couldn’t refund us because we booked with a third party (which their phone system ties us in to). Be very careful when booking for Best Western.

The experience was so bad I had to share it. I came to NY for my nephew's funeral (tragic) and got to the hotel after 9:30 pm after a day with my brother making arrangements. I got a room at the furthest part of the hotel, I arrived at my room and the key cards didn’t work. I called and she brought up 2 more which also didn’t work. While waiting for her I noticed that the hallway smelled like mildew very gross. She told me she would move me to the 2nd floor and go get keys, she never returned so I had to take my stuff back downstairs and she was talking to another customer. She gave me the new keys.

I went upstairs and got into bed and the bed was damp. Because it’s now after 11 o’clock, I go to sleep anyway, which was gross. I told them the next morning what had occurred and they did change the bedding which that night also felt a little damp and it now appears that it’s because they keep the air conditioner on so high was the reason why the bed feels this way.

The next morning, I told them that I was so grossed out I was gonna leave the hotel and not stay the third night and requested that they remove the charges from the first night and the third night, but I would pay for the second night because I chose to come back. I was told that nobody had the authority and it took five days to finally find someone that I could write to and then five days later they told me they would do nothing.

I’m sorry the story was so long but I wanted you to know before you stay there that they don’t care about you. They just want the money and service is secondary. On the website it showed five stars, but they didn’t tell you that you only got one star each day so you needed to stay five days to get all five. A little sarcasm. Thank you for reading this.

I booked a reservation through the official Best Western website on September 29, 2025, for a wedding in Petaluma. The very next day, September 30, a real emergency hit — My dog got sick and I was facing a large vet bill. On October 1, more than nine days before my scheduled stay, I called to cancel. The hotel staff were polite, but here’s the catch: They said they couldn’t cancel because I booked through a “third-party vendor.” That “vendor” was none other than the Best Western website itself. Let that sink in — book directly through Best Western and they still treat you like a third-party customer with no rights. Even worse, their cancellation policy is rigged against the customer. You only have 24 hours from the time of booking to cancel, regardless of when your actual stay is. That means you could book a room months ahead, and if life throws you a curveball just a few days later, you’re out of luck.

Compare that to a fair policy: 24–48 hours before check-in. Best Western’s approach is not customer service — it’s a guaranteed profit scheme. So here I am, out $211.82 for a room I’ll never use. Best Western gets paid, the room sits empty, and a customer dealing with an emergency gets punished. This is not just bad policy — It’s bad business. Shame on Best Western for hiding behind their own website as a “third-party vendor” and squeezing loyal customers when they’re most vulnerable. Travelers beware: Booking at bestwestern.com could cost you more than you think.

My wife, our two small dogs, and I meticulously planned a trip from Arizona to Washington with three Best Western stops...Henderson, NV; Wells, NV; and Baker City, OR. Henderson went fine. But in Wells, NV, disaster struck: despite having a valid confirmation number and even completing pre-check-in the day before, we arrived to find the hotel completely closed for repairs for many days already.

No notice. No warning. Nothing. Best Western’s own corporate rep was shocked, unable to reach the property, and admitted she didn’t know it was shut down. Yet Best Western still took my reservation, sent me confirmations, and let me check in online, for a hotel that wasn’t even open. Imagine checking in for a flight, printing your boarding pass, arriving at the airport, only to discover the airline no longer exists. That’s exactly what this felt like.

This isn’t a small inconvenience. It’s a betrayal of trust. When you’re traveling long distances, especially with pets, a confirmed reservation should mean peace of mind, not the sinking feeling that your hotel may be a phantom property. I can only hope tomorrow’s stop isn’t another non-existent hotel. But fellow travelers, consider this your warning: Best Western’s “guarantee” is not a guarantee. Proceed with extreme caution.

Noise outside even at late night. The Reception staff were only frowning and talking in their language. The room was dirty and dusty. There was no Bible in the drawer as previous stays had one in every room. Hopefully there will be a mixed cultural staff at the reception other than just one community. And also Bibles once again placed in every room as previously. Let Canadian culture be brought back to all hotels.

I made a reservation on the 13th of August to a Best Western in Sudbury. I did so by speaking to the front desk employee directly at 10:00 pm. Unfortunately, within 15 minutes of making the reservation, circumstances changed. I tried to cancel both in person and on the phone. I spoke to the general manager who said there was nothing they could do. I am being charged over $200 for the room. I reached out to customer service office who sent my issue to be evaluated by the board.

What I can’t believe is that they denied a refund for what is pennies for them, but an incredible amount of money for me. This is money to put food on the table for my family and it was denied because of a “policy”. No consideration of even a partial refund. I am disturbed that there is apparently no good will with this business. What could have resulted in more business from me has now ensured that I will not give Best Western my business in any way. Further, I will encourage all my travelling friends, family and co-workers that this is not a place that has the best interest of their customers. I am deeply disappointed. While I am a nobody to them, it is disheartening to see that they are unwilling to help someone out who has reached out directly, and have no problem charging your customers for services not provided. This is robbery. Thank you, for nothing.

Becket Hotel- South Lake Tahoe. What an absolute DIVE! They give the BW a bad name. This place is run down, horrible service- I mean horrible service. Upon check in (that will not happen before 4P) we got some child with zero customer service skills helping us. She was rude and did not answer any questions we had. We also requested a bottom floor, both when we made the reservation and when we got there early and could not check in. We needed it for ADA. You see they are NOT ADA compliant. Our room had ONE towel in it. The front office said the towels were in the washer! What? So we could not shower before our dinner. The entire shower nozzle is coming out of the wall and you can not change the position. The shower is full of black mold. This will be reported, black mold is deadly. The shower you can't even turn around in it and I am a little person. It's the tiniest shower I have ever seen in a hotel or anywhere.

You can tell they've attempted to remodel because there's little nooks everywhere that make no sense at all. The patching and painting on the walls and the ceiling look like a four-year-old did it. The cable is coming out of the bathroom area stapled along the wall and a hole drilled to reach the TV.The grounds (area where the pool used to be)... no pool people, and is full of trash. The carpet is so filthy that when you walk around in your bare feet your feet are black. That is absolutely disgusting. The parking is an absolute joke. Clearly not enough parking for the number of rooms they have.

One night got back and had to park down the street ! This is absolutely not acceptable when I am paying over $400 a night for a room I expect to be able to park my vehicle in the parking lot. No one from the hotel cleans up the area. The "free" breakfast is not worth the walk to the other side of the hotel. The coffee is absolutely gross, not even drinkable.

The only thing good I can say the pillows were comfortable. The room was dirty and the lights that hang over the beds were had to remove the shades during our stay because you get out of bed and hit your head. This place should be taken down, it is disgusting!!!! I think the health department needs to be called into this place cause it's clearly not sanitary!

Our family reunion was in Oklahoma City, OK from August 1st - 3rd. And never had we ever experience such disbelief in conditions at a Best Western before. The first room we were assigned to did not have a shade in the window, blind but NO shade, cricket running across the room, and the room had a smell and the shower, slippery no grate over drain and no mat in place. Left that room went to another where the carpet was not clean or vacuumed. Went to the third room in one night, air unit was loud, but tolerable and we were tired.

Breakfast from 6 a.m to 9 a.m. too early....2nd day room was not cleaned, and last day asked to get a late check out and they could only give me an hour. NOW we had over 10 families booked room there, various complaints, one of our members slipped in the shower and slit his hand to an artery on the grate in shower and WE could NOT get a late check out. TERRIBLE customer service!!! WE will never check into that place again. After all that, never did WE receive an apology. But YOU got a lot of money from our families. Maybe some of your guests are okay with that terrible hospitality but as a general manager or owner of an establishment as such, treat your guest better.

Basically saying it was MY fault I stayed in their dirty room.

Original Review: I’m writing about my stay, July 17-20, 2025 at the Best Western Grand in Gainesville, Florida. The cleanliness of this hotel was HORRIBLE. The bathroom floors were dirty (I provided a dirty paper towel to management from wiping it), the carpet was dirty and unvacuumed. The furniture was dirty and dusty, the refrigerator was poorly maintained and not working correctly. The air vents, particularly the bathroom was caked with dirt and dust. I brought all of this to the attention of the manager Juan, and everything was ignored. Be it the hotel is dated, I get that, but it's NO excuse for being dirty.

Our 1st stay was in early March, for which we earned a $50 gift card to use at a later stay. All went smoothly. HOWEVER, our stay at the end of June was a DISASTER! Upon checking in, I presented the email with the $50 card to the front desk. I also showed them the DETAILED instructions to the front desk (from corporate) on how to apply. DEER IN HEADLIGHTS. This was a promo from early February, yet here in late June, no one at desk had heard of it. One even tried to tell me it had already been applied, hence my discounted rate! (Clearly a lack of training and grabbing straws).

When presenting the corporate instructions again, I was told they did not have access to system. Seriously? I was issued my room keys and was told their manager would “fix” things the next morning. After waiting for someone to find a luggage cart, which was nowhere to be found at check-in time, I went to car to get our luggage. Upon returning to lobby, I was motioned over to front desk. At this point I was being greeted by the General Manager and NOT in a friendly way. I was informed that the $50 reward was being applied to the 1st night rate (which was NOT per corporate’s instructions in the email. Saved me $8 per someone else not being able to read and comprehend instructions). But now, she INSISTED I provide my credit card information. WHAT??? She claimed I DID NOT PROVIDE MY CC INFO AND MUST DO IT!

Let me ask y’all... When was the last time you made a GUARANTEED hotel reservation WITHOUT your CC info? Or filled out your PRE-CHECK info without VALIDATING your CC info? At this point, after all of the incompetence witnessed at this front desk, I was EXTREMELY reluctant to provide CC info again, for at least the 3rd time! She, the GM, then threatened to call the police if I didn’t provide my CC info. Folks, one can’t make this stuff up! Instead of apologizing for someone or the newly rolled out system losing information, I was threatened with calling the police.

Now for the review of the hotel, it was brought up before that the shower floor was EXTREMELY slippery. Nothing has changed. Grab onto grab bar because your feet WILL slip. Bathroom is length of room, wasted space. Only one towel bar for multiple towels, toilet wayyyyy on other side of room, nothing there. Very ill designed room, wasted space. Breakfast pretty mediocre. Much better in March, awful this time.

To the GM: You’re an embarrassment to your profession. Instead of apologizing and trying to make things right with your customer, you threatened your customer with the police? For losing their CC info? And because your customer was reluctant to provide it AGAIN due to your front desk and YOUR incompetence? Go ahead and reflect the blame on your customer. For following ALL of the check-in requirements. For following ALL of the gift card redemption email instructions. I can PROMISE you, I will NEVER pay a dime at this location again! Love Best Western! But your property SUCKS! Thanks to you and an untrained staff.

I have been an Airbnb/VRBO host for over 6 years. I have hosted over 2200 guests in those 6 years. I have earned SUPER HOST recognition every quarter of the past 6 years. I have to say this is one of the worst Best Western hotels I have stayed in. The staff was rude, the bathroom was dirty. It has really gone downhill in the last few years. Maybe it is new owners. The manager is very un-professional. It is not a hospitable hotel. Very unaccommodating.

Plus - Recognition of reward status, Friendly staff, Fast check-in, Clean room, Good water temp and pressure. Negative - Updates needed to bathroom toilet paper holder, Bathroom door needs replacement, Front door needs to be sealed. Hotel is quiet but not much around the area. Breakfast is adequate but minimal. Parking Canberra tight. Overall a good stay and value. Would be easy to recommend with the updates done.
