If you want to die fly with them. My recent flight got cancelled with rebooking option a week later! My flight before that was horrible water leaking through ceiling, Clogged toilets, Tv's not operational, I had to sit on broken seat my whole flight because flight was fully booked. Speaking in aviation terms the cheese holes in this airlines is a lot. I won't be shocked if another of their flight went down. They are cutting corners and probability of errors is high trust me.

**Thank you so much Kannan (MAA) for your help at the last moment. Because I’m travelling for the next 7–8 days, everything was very tight — Te boarding gate was already closed and things were almost shut down. Still, you went out of your way to help me enter the flight. I truly appreciate all your technical support. It really means a lot to me, especially since I have to reach my destination through daily connections. Thanks again for your support and kindness. I’m very grateful.**

I traveled around the world but never had a terrible experience like this. I regret booking through air India. Paid extra for the flexibility of travel date change but the customer service is a joke and email request is another better joke. The best joke is the modification of your booking through online portal. I have no words to describe how they manage booking. I suggest never believe in their Promotional video. Better avoid than regret. Believe me you will pay dearly for the chief tickets on Air India.

After my international travel from Manila to Bangalore and return to Manila, I feel compelled to write this review that details my horrific experience during my round trip in the business class. I hope the management of Air India takes all these reviews and make immediate improvements in each category to make sure that Air India will raise up to international standards like JAL, ANA, DELTA, AIR NEWZEALAND, EMIRATES, and QATAR AIRWAYS.
THE GOOD: During my travel I noticed that the flight personnel do their best to accommodate their passenger needs. The in-flight crew were visibly disturbed by the disruptions experienced by the customers and showed their empathy towards the travelers. So, I give the crew including the flight attendants and the pilots an A+ for their sincere hard work to take care of their customers. In addition, the airline has worked to provide healthy and tasty meals to their travelers by carefully choosing their supply chain vendors.
THE BAD and THE UGLY: I experienced extreme discomfort and stress when I had to unload my suitcase and golf bag after my arrival in Delhi from Manila. The person that was supposed to load my golf bag on to the belt refused to do so and complained that the golf bag is too heavy! I had to beg and plead with the person and finally I put the bag on to the belt! This caused a delay and I had to literally run to the gate to catch my flight to Bangalore. This is the worst arrangement that Air India has adopted to make the passengers recheck and go through customs and immigration in Delhi instead of Bangalore.
My return to Manila on December 15th was the worst experience I have incurred in my 50 years of international travel! Here is how it went: When I checked in to my flight in Bangalore, I was told that the flight is delayed by one hour and the ground staff worked to put me on an earlier flight which took off 45 minutes late! When we arrived in Delhi, we were told that our flight to Manila was on time. When we went to the gate at the time of boarding we were told that the gate was changed and we had to literally run to the new gate and we found out that, there were passengers on an earlier flight looking confused and noisily arguing with the ground staff and the ground staff had no clue about the status of the two flights; one to Manila and the other to another Asian city!!!
We were requested by the ground staff to wait in the lounge (Business passengers) and we will be informed by the ground staff about the departure time. Much to my chagrin, this charade continued in the most chaotic manner until we were told to board the bus that just stopped outside the gate after 4 hour delay in the Delhi airport!! Potential solution? I am sure TATA management brought in an experienced New Zealander to head the airline to bring in western style of management, like, discipline, punctuality and customer service, but, I never saw any of those concepts implemented in this self-inflicted pandemonium by the CEO!
I wondered (as I am an engineer) what would I do if I am faced with this management issue? First thing came to my mind was "communication". It seemed like there was no proper communication from the top to the bottom rung of of the management ladder. I would have formed groups of travelers in accordance with their flight numbers and a lead person is appointed and that lead person takes care of feeding the travelers with lunch from the local eateries and be in constant communication with the travelers. A simple arrangement like this would have avoided all the chaos and confusion in the Delhi airport. Constant, orderly communication will always avoid the misunderstanding, anxiety and stress for the travelers.

My flight was originally booked as a non-stop flight scheduled to depart at 10:00 AM. However, the departure time was revised multiple times—first to 4:00 PM, and ultimately the flight did not depart until around 11:00 PM, delaying the start of our trip by nearly 14 hours. What was supposed to be a non-stop flight also included an unexpected stop for refueling, further extending the already long and exhausting journey.
The situation was made even worse by what happened at the airport. After boarding, we were made to sit inside the aircraft for nearly 4 hours while engineers attempted to fix a technical issue. When the problem could not be resolved, we were instructed to deboard the aircraft and wait for several additional hours until the faulty part was replaced. This caused significant discomfort and frustration for everyone on board.
After arrival, our baggage was delivered only more than 48 hours later, and even then, it was delivered in two separate trips—one in the morning and one in the evening—forcing us to remain home for the entire day. Because of these delays, we missed important family functions and had to purchase new clothes, resulting in significant inconvenience and unexpected expenses.
This trip was the first-ever visit for my children, and sadly, Air India did not leave any opportunity to make it a worse experience for them. They did not have their clothes for the first three days, and even after the baggage finally arrived, their toiletries were missing. This created unnecessary stress and discomfort for the children, who were already tired from the long series of delays and disruptions.
To add to the frustration, the customer representative failed multiple times to send us the flight disruption report that we required. When it was finally sent, it incorrectly showed that the flight had departed on time, which is entirely inaccurate and unacceptable given the extreme delays we experienced. Such misinformation adds to the disappointment and raises concerns about transparency and accountability.
Furthermore, Air India did not send any feedback request for the 14 November flight, despite the severe inconvenience faced by all passengers. Given the magnitude of the disruption, collecting feedback should have been a priority. Finally, my return flight on 11 December was also delayed by an hour, adding to an overall pattern of poor reliability.

I recently paid for business class tickets and was provided with broken seats on both legs of the flight. I paid close to $5000 for my seats and I received below economy class value. When I complained, that had the audacity to offer me $60 (roughly) for my inconvenience. Do not fly Air India. Do not FLy Air india. I am keeping this complaint short. I should have listened to my first when they advised against flying with them and I didn't. The planes are old and not updated. Why send a broken plane in the air.

If you value your money, your comfort, or even basic respect as a passenger, avoid Air India at all costs. We booked Premium Economy tickets from San Francisco to Mumbai via Delhi (Booking Reference: **) and paid extra for confirmed upgrades to Business Class. The upgrades were processed, confirmed in writing, and seats assigned. We thought we’d finally get the long-haul comfort we had paid a hefty sum for. What happened next was an absolute disgrace: Without notice or consent, our Business Class seats were unceremoniously downgraded to cramped Economy. Our confirmed Delhi–Mumbai connection (AI2985) was cancelled and replaced with a later flight (AI2981), meaning longer delays and disruption.
To make things worse, the routing was tampered with – instead of flying as booked, the flight was diverted, adding unnecessary stress and chaos. This is not a “minor inconvenience.” This is outright cheating. We were sold a Business Class experience, charged Business Class fares, and then shoved back into Economy like second-class citizens. The audacity to call this “regrettable” while keeping the money borders on fraud. Air India’s attitude is equally shocking. Instead of offering solutions, compensation, or even basic courtesy, they expect passengers to silently accept downgrades and schedule changes. For a national carrier, this level of arrogance and mismanagement is shameful.
Key takeaways for future passengers: Don’t waste your money on upgrades – Air India will happily pocket it and still seat you in Economy. Don’t expect reliability – flights get cancelled or rerouted at their whim. Don’t expect accountability – you’ll get copy-paste apologies and zero resolution. Air India is not just unreliable – it’s unethical. Flying with them is a gamble where you pay for Business but end up with Economy, delays, and indignity. For a long-haul journey that should have been comfortable, Air India managed to turn it into a nightmare. Verdict: One of the worst airline experiences of our lives. A shameful betrayal of customer trust.

Their customer service is horrible. They give false info for baggage prices. Clerk, website and by phone all different info. I was required to pay double what it said online. Clerk at desk stated I could only get the prices I found by putting in my flight info online 12 hours prior, but via phone they said 2 hours. I could only email them and they never called me like they said. Communication was only via email. They didn't evaluate what I said/found online. They said I was a valued customer but never did anything to make it right. Just money hungry and sneaky. Don't believe what you find online or what they tell you. I mean if you can't trust what they say about your baggage do you really want to trust them to get you safely to your destination? I don't! Fly Air India at your own risk (especially lately with all the plan crashes)

They are lying about their fees on their website. I booked FLEX to have nil fees for canceling as written on the website but still had to pay fees for cancelling afterwards. The customer service is stubborn and remains on their standpoint that they are correct and I had to pay the fees.

I recently travelled round-trip from Toronto in Canada to Hyderabad in India via Delhi. Experience in both the flights, starting from ticket booking, info about flight delays and other info, aircraft, infotainment systems, food, crew behavior, baggage handling, literally everything was horrible to say the least. The aircraft shouldn't have been allowed to fly in the condition it was in. Very strongly recommend everyone not to book in Air India, especially international as domestic flights within India were okay. P.S. I gave one star as there is no option to choose negative stars.

I recently purchased a flight ticket with Air India, but unfortunately, the experience has been quite disappointing. After booking, the airline significantly changed the layover time to over 7 hours. As a result, I was forced to cancel all of my connecting flights, which caused considerable inconvenience and additional expense. Given that the change in itinerary was initiated by the airline, I requested a cancellation or rescheduling of my ticket. To my surprise, I was informed that I would be required to pay a convenience fee for either option, which I find quite unreasonable under the circumstances.
Additionally, both the airport services and the customer service provided were far below expectations. The lack of assistance and empathy during the entire process has been frustrating and disheartening. I sincerely hope Air India reviews its policies and improves its customer support, especially in situations where schedule changes are made by the airline itself.

Not going to mention about the dirtiness of restrooms because it is basically the poor etiquette of ** travelers. The plane had very bad smell also. Their fares are very high in spite of such poor conditions of their aircrafts. DO NOT PUT YOUR LIFE AT RISK IN THE NAME OF PATRIOTISM FOR INDIA. I would recommend everybody to never use Air India again unless you can not avoid it. Here is the background for that advice: I’m a United Airlines Platinum member, and a Star Alliance Gold member. I bought a fully refundable business class return ticket from Delhi to Kathmandu. January 13th I had a chance to fly into Kathmandu another way, so I called Air India to ask how I could change the return ticket to a oneway KTM – DEL. They told me to cancel the return ticket and buy a new business class ticket one way – And they assured me that I would get all the cost of the return ticket ($1,400) refunded. So, with all of the above in mind, you would think everything was good. However, today 5 months later I have not received a penny from Air India.
I’ve had numerous calls, where they every time ensured me that the money was on the way, but to no avail. I had two cases created; one I was advised to create myself on Air India’s website. I never got a reply – They just closed the case after three weeks. So, if they treat Platinum/Gold members who purchase refundable business class tickets like that, my only recommendation is: NEVER FLY AIR INDIA.

I have booked flights for next month with @airindia from Washington to Hyderabad and had a very disappointing experience. Here's what happened: #AirIndia #TravelExperience. I have booked the flight and done seat selections as I am travelling with my family/kids. However, they have changed the flight schedule from Washington to Delhi and I am going to miss the connecting flight to Hyderabad now. So, I called them and requested for an alternative. They managed to get ticket in the next flight to Hyderabad with no confirmed seats.
When asked for confirmed seats as I am travelling with 2 children, they are asking me to pay more money for confirmed seats in single row. Even the flight time/changes are done from their end, they are asking the customers to pay extra money for getting the confirmed seats also. Even after requesting them couple of times. they didn’t agree and asked me to pay extra money for confirmed seats even the flight itinerary changed by Air India. #PoorCustomerService #WorstAirlines #Disappointed

I had a business class ticket on AI 187 from Delhi to Toronto on 3rd March 2025. My seat number was 8A and at the last minute at the gate I was told that my seat was not working and was told to sign a consent form and was told I would get a link and then a refund. I have got a photo of the consent form and boarding pass which I am attaching with this complaint. The person I dealt with at the gate was Neha (Duty Officer) and Mantasha (Supervisor- I think). They were not helpful. I should have been advised before so that I would have changed my date and flown on another day but I had no choice. I called for the manager but he did not come. I had no choice but to sign. I was told there were many seats in business class that were not working. I entered the aircraft and Business class in charge, I think his name was Abhishek came to meet me and he said sorry and that nothing could be done since the aircraft was full.
Then Smita, I think her name was (Cabin crew in charge) came and said sorry and told me I would get a link to which I should reply and complain and would get a refund. She also said they would put their own report about this. She also said the aircraft had got changed at the last minute and none of the crew members were aware of it. VERY VERY POOR EXPERIENCE. I am a medical doctor and have a medical condition and have pain in legs if they are hanging down. I EXPECT A 100% REFUND FOR THIS INCONVENIENCE. I have still not received any link.

Air India is using old planes on the Chicago to Delhi non-stop route, and so far, I haven't seen any news about interior upgrades for the Delhi-Chicago route. I flew Air India on November 7, and it was a very old plane. The seat entertainment system wasn't working on either leg of the trip (both from Chicago to Delhi and from Delhi to Chicago). What does Air India expect people to do during such a long flight? Half of the USB ports for cell phone charging also didn't work. The only reason I'm giving one star is because the hospitality was good. I am planning a trip to India in March 2025 and I am looking for other options so I can have a good experience during the flight.

While going from SFO - BOM the flight was new and good. Coming back from DEL - SFO, it was the old, dirty, broken seats aircraft. The crew have 2 uniforms, one in blue and the other in Red. The crew in Red give you warm feeling but the ones in blue look at you like you are making them do chores if you even ask for a glass of water. Not sure what's going on there.
I had a horrible experience and I understand "Problem Happens" but it is the Air India's "Customer Last" and "Customer Service is for losers" motto is what has made me decide that I will spend few thousand extra dollars but will never ever take Air India for an International travel. AI is fine for Domestic in India unless you need customer service then you are on your own. I am giving my ratings based on my return journey. I would give it 0 stars if I can. The most horrible customer experience for online booking cancellation. I had made the booking with Air India website during beginning of the year. Due to personal reasons, I had to cancel the booking. Their website is the the worst when it comes to booking cancellation. I had to make a call to the support center. The representative mentioned that the refund will be issued within 7-10 business days but never heard back from them in that timeline. I had to call back after 10-12 days and they said it's still under process.
The communication from Air India care team is never on time and I have to still do multiple follow ups and I have not yet received my money! Air India is the worst and horrible when it comes to customer experience. I will never ever recommend Air India to anyone! However, this was refunded as part of the total amount, which is incorrect. During my interactions with multiple customer care agents, they confirmed they could see the notes about my cancellation request and even mentioned verifying the call logs to process my full refund. The attendants told me they could not do anything about my seats, when I arrived back in the U.S. I asked for a refund. Basically, I have been asking for a refund of $200 for the past 6 months, the airline always responds with some excuse and has told me 2 different times that my bank accounts don't work, plus they won't even let me know that my bank accounts supposedly "don't work", they only do it to keep me in the process of just not giving me my money.
