I bought a ticket to go see a favorite band, and the ticket was pretty pricey too, $770, but worth it. Before checking out, I see that I could purchase separate insurance, Allianz Travel Insurance, that “said” would cover my purchase in case of any misfortunes that could arise. Well, wouldn’t you know it, a washing machine cold water line burst and flooded my laundry room and family room, a total of 600 sq ft. Now I have to total redo said laundry/family room. Got some money from my home owners insurance, but wasn’t nearly enough to cover the remodel costs. Submitted a claim to Allianz with the ticket purchase amount.

They wanted an itemized amount for remodel and I told them I was doing it myself and wouldn’t have an amount to about two moths after the concert date. They denied my claim, saying not enough info for claim. READ the negative reviews on Allianz, they are the TRUTH. 95% of the positive ones are LIES, not given by actual people who have their insurance. $80 for fake insurance, $770 ticket down the drain. DO NOT BUY THIS INSURANCE FOR ANYTHING.

This is absolutely a predatory insurance company! They lead you to believe that you can get a 100% refund of all ticket prices and fees if you're unable to attend the event. What doesn't get told you upfront unless you read the fine print is that if you are unable to attend for illness or things of that nature you actually have to have a doctor's note in order for them to do something. Absolutely unacceptable! What are you then paying for if you have to provide all of this documentation! And I am absolutely certain that this company is aware of the fact that most people aren't going to have this documentation or go through that process and figured that they will give up on it and which case they basically, in effect, scammed your money!

Absolutely the worse! We normally don't get travel insurance now we see why. We got this insurance for our 20th wedding anniversary trip. We flew into Rome, Italy for our 1st day on the ttrip. Once we landed we noticed one of our bags were missing. Went to the airline to inform them. They said they would investigate. To try to locate it, we called Allianz immediately to tell them. They inform us at the end of our trip. We need to file a claim with them. We went on with our 28 day trip. Got home and filed claim sent in all receipt and information needed. This insurance company after 2.5 mos of back and forth. Tells us that baggage isn't covered. Which is Absolutely incorrect! It's says it right in our terms. Baggage lost, damaged, or stolen up to 2,000. Unbelievable!! This company is a rip off!! Stay far away!

Had to cancel the VERY expensive tickets I purchased due to several factors and one of them was losing my job. In order to get my money back from the insurance I PURCHASED AT AN ADDITIONAL COST to protect my ticket purchase… I have to contact my last employer and get the details of my termination on letterhead to send it to Allianz to get a refund which is obscene. “Hey… I know I was let go and haven’t spoken to anyone in months but can you write this letter for me so I can get SOME of the money I spent on tickets back.” Who is doing that??? NEVER do business with them… It’s a complete scam.

My wife and I bought the travel coverage for a flight and trip to New Orleans the week of Jan 13- Jan 23. On the time we were to fly home New Orleans was hit with a 70 year winter storm. The airports were closed for three days. All roads, stores, etc were closed. On Jan 23 we were able to get on the only flight out and even then waited four hours at the airport for that flight to leave for Seattle. We then missed our flight connection from Seattle to Spokane and waited 2.5 hours for the next flight. Finally got to Spokane after midnight only to find luggage not there (so got delivered next day) but all public transportation for our ride home stopped at 9:30 PM. Had to take an Uber that cost $59.62 for my wife and I. Turned claim in to Allianz and the gal turned it down saying our flight was NOT DELAYED for the minimum of six (6) hours. Sure seems like a "bait & Switch" and I will not use them again.

This company is a complete waste of money, do not use them. I booked a flight on 01/08/25 and then received a call on 01/13/25 that my grandmother had passed away a week prior to this. My grandma lived alone and slipped and hit her head and died, her body wasn't even discovered until a week later. Allianz decided that since I was not aware of the death of my grandmother AFTER 01/08/25 that they would not give me a refund for my flight. My grandma lives out in Pine River, MN, go look up where that is. This company is a scam and does not respect the death of your family members or your time or money. Do not give them any more money and I hope this company goes under. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY!!! You will NOT ever get a refund.

I availed their services though I am not expecting to use it (of course who wants their flight to be delayed, cancelled or such in exchange of compensation? None as much as possible). My flight from Las Vegas to Los Angeles was delayed for almost 2 hours due to airline issue that resulted from my next flight to be missed as this flight departed already when I arrived. I ended up missing the flight and stayed overnight as the next possible available flight is the next day 09:00AM. This also caused me to missed my work as I am expected to be home already the night before. I can understand if this is my fault then that is fine.

I filed for a claim. I even call before submitting the claim, in their website I am not sure which category this will fall in so I sent e-mail twice to their two separate e-mail address with no answer. I provided all the documents on my part (receipts, re-booking ticket and even testimony on my part) and submitted this under "travel delay" and "travel interruption" since there is no guidance and unsure where to put this under. And now, they just close my claim without any explanation. I called their hotline to ask why and the customer service even cannot give an assurance or clear explanation. Per him (customer service representative), he said that a testimony from the airline is needed.

I called the airline but the airline is unsure about this as well. What the? I thought the insurance company will be the one to investigate/validate this as I never heard (so far) any instances that if a person missed his/her flight due to his/her not fault, the airline will give the person a proof that he/she missed the flight? I thought insurance agency will be the one to verify this. And yes, if this is my fault and a false claim, I can understand for Allianz to deny this claim. This is experience filled with agony in addition to stress and exhaustion. Do not waste your money to this. They will scam you.

IF they pay out it is only under very specific conditions and you will have to jump through hoops to get a refund. FYI - I never write reviews like this but the frustrating experience I had with their customer service warranted this review.

I was taking a trip to Cabo San Lucas for a week. While making airline reservations with American Airlines it gave me option to buy trip insurance which I accepted. About 15 days later while reading policy, it was only for the first day of travel, not the entire trip. I called Allianz and they added coverage for the entire trip, another $300 plus payment. They did not inform me that upgrades had to made within 14 days of the original payment but gladly accepted my additional premium.

As luck would have it, I developed a back condition that is requiring surgery. They denied coverage based upon 14 day policy. The policy would cover a maximum of $2,500 of the non refundable over $4,000 I paid to the resort. I knew this. Allianz denied any benefits! I had multiple communications with customer service and 2 letters to the CEO, Mr Wright. I would certainly not purchased the policy if I was informed that there was no coverage because of the 14 day rule! Very poor experience!

I don't know how they can be rated highly. They randomly decide how much they will reimburse you and offer no explanation for how they came up with that...in our case, 1 day ($857) of cost for our cruise ($5999 cost) when food poisoning occurred first full day of cruise. Viking Cruises arranged for her to see a doctor in Cologne. One night the paramedics were called onto the ship. We cancelled all our post-cruise plans and flew home early. My travel partner was critically sick for the entire cruise and then spent 4 days/nights in a hospital (on **!!). When we went straight from the airport to the hospital after arriving back in U.S. I guess they think she was dancing all night every night and enjoying all the food/tours while she was throwing up and unable to even get out of bed.

The food poisoning morphed into another really bad condition....she could not even walk by the last few days of cruise....had to have wheelchair all the way home....and I guess that was worth only $857. Beware people!!!! Allianz does not even give you an explanation for their decision, and there is no way to dispute it. I will NEVER buy insurance from that company again!!!

Purchased Allianz through the Delta website for a flight back to the States from Mexico. The flight was delayed overnight. Prior to looking for my hotel I attempted to contact Allianz. 45 minutes later when I got through to customer service they could not find my policy number so they could not answer my questions. This was due to the fact they actually never emailed me the necessary policy information. Got the hotel, some food, etc. and put in my claim a week or two later. The claim was processed by Mondial Assistance Mexico, not in the US for some reason where I purchased the policy. Process was ridiculous for $125 dollars. E-mail upon E-mail.

Finally they processed my claim and were ready to send me the money. Gave them my credit union information. They said they only deposit in bank accounts. After some back and forth they noted they would direct deposit to my account. After waiting for the deposit I checked back in several times to see when the money would be deposited. I was then notified that they sent my claim into further review and were no longer going to pay. It appears that they attempted to manipulate the policy wording. They denied the claim noting that fog is considered to be air pollution, not a weather event. Since somehow everything was handled in Mexico, I had no way to hold them accountable. Their business ethics are definitely questionable.

I would NOT recommend Allianz. I dislocated my tailbone on a trip in the EU, and I went to a board certified chiropractor who said they handle travel insurance claims all they time, but Allianz didn't cover it. Chiropractor is the only medical professional who can instantly realign this kind of injury, but Allianz told me they would only cover me going to the ER, but everyone knows the ER isn't going to help with such an injury. Sure, they could x-ray it, but I needed to be fixed so I could do things like sit and continue my trip. The chiropractic company I visited, a large company with every type of certification, that has offices throughout the EU, told me plenty of other travel insurance companies DO cover their services, just not Allianz. For this reason, I would not recommend Allianz Travel Insurance for your trip.
