    My husband liked the reps at Green Home. A guy first came out to give us the estimate to do it and then, he lost one of his people. It stalled for a while, but he came back and did it. We've had our panels for about a year now maybe and it's been pretty good. But the last two months in the wintertime, it didn't show. We have to wait until another bill comes in. Other than that, we've had no problem.

    I went solar to save me money in the future and I'm happy with Green Home Systems. They had a crew from Arkansas and one guy knew exactly what he was doing and explained to me all he was doing. They were in and out fairly quick. It took them two days to do everything. And I got his card. He said to contact him or the company if I have any problems and they'd get ahold of him. Green Home Systems produce what they said they would produce and they're there. Also, the system looks good in the house. I'm well pleased with them.

    The lady I talked to was really nice. She helped me out with some stuff and she was really good. The signup and installation were okay. They did a pretty good job. They were all courteous and they did what they said they were going to do. Everybody that worked with me to get the stuff was good, but I'm not saving a lot of money. Also, we've had power outages and I haven't had electricity and I'm not real happy as far as the electric part.

    I got a clear-cut quote. They explained the process of what goes in and out, got it set up with the installers, got the system installed and up and running. It took a little bit longer than I wanted, but overall, my experience with them was good. The web-based interface is really nice. You can look on your phone what's going on and if it's charging or not. All the inverters are good quality. The panels all seem to be high-quality components too. I was happy with the service.

    The reps from Green Home came out, measured and decided how much I needed. They installed the solar panels and I paid for it in cash. It was in February so the weather wasn’t cooperating. The enrollment process wasn’t more than a week but the permits took longer. The installers were fantastic. They got everything done when it was supposed to be. They had Duquesne Light okay the system and it was turned on three weeks after I started the process. One of the panels came loose and they were out there the next day, and they fixed it. The whole process was great.

    I'm not here to save the planet though. I wanted to get money away from Duquesne Light. They were robbing me blind and I detested paying them so much. Green Home installed the solar panels and I had them for two and a half years before I sold the house. I had two high bills. One was $50 and the other one was 75. But most averaged about $29 because half of that was to pay for the meter. If I were to live long enough and would have stayed in that house, the solar panels would have been worth the money invested. Now, I have a new house and I'm trying to get the budget set up so that I can put them on this house.

    It's been a horrible experience with Green Home Systems. Getting set up was very difficult. It went over for a year. I ended up with two payments. Instead of saving money, I was spending $250 extra a month. They're selling a product that they don't even have available. They gotta be a little bit more clear on what they're promising people. The delivery was not what I expected. The system is not doing what it's supposed to be doing. I've had several complaints but they went unheard. I'm very disappointed in this. I would not recommend Green Home Systems to nobody. I just want to get out of it now. They promise you the world but they don't come through with all that's supposed to be going on.

    I called Green Home Systems and asked questions. I talked to somebody then waited a while. I called back and the guy talked to me some more. He was very polite. A couple of times, he called me in following up things. I told him that I was busy. He was in his office and I was out for the evening because there was a four-hour time difference. We would make arrangements for him to call back. Santiago was the seller then it transferred to another guy who was the project manager. He was very much in communication with us and was right on. There was good coordination. We signed in November and people started showing up, taking pictures, and plotting and planning. They had designed it to go using Google satellite image of my property. When the builder came, I told him where I preferred the panels put in. He's from this area and was also in contact with me letting me know when he was coming and how many people he was bringing with him.

    In the first month, I had a technical problem. In one sense, I still do, but it's not an operational problem. That technical problem was an operational one. We went live in February of last year with only one inverter. The two inverters have to feed into one line but they wouldn't talk to each other. The one inverter didn't want to feed. That was the maker's issue. The builder finally convinced them and they made a phone call and fixed it. Once that happened in March, we were into full production. I've been making power.

    My system works well. I'm happy I got solar. I haven't paid an electric bill in over a year. Penelec owed me money. They made me put up a deposit because my bill was so high. When I went and started generating this, they had to pay me back. Green Home Systems also said I would get a tax refund but they did not explain it that well. My tax man did. This January, February, I got a tax credit. I was very happy with the subcontractor Green Home Systems used to put the system in. But I was not happy that Green Home Systems did not reward the family that recommended them. They promised $1,000, but I don't think it was ever remitted. The last I talked to that family, it had not been.

    The process from the signup to the installation to getting it kicked off was great. Green Home Systems was extremely prompt. They sent me a proposal by email and I could click on links that walked me through the different configurations that would get me the kilowatt per hour that was my average. Once I agreed, they started the installation. It was right at the cusp of covid and there were all kinds of shortages going on. That took a little while to get all the products in stock. Some of them arrived broken, so they had to order more. There was a little bit of lag time in that.

    The system works fine. I haven't had an electric bill since. They told me that there was a federal benefit which was $7,000 at the time. Sure enough, when tax time came, I took that deduction. I even had some more of that deduction to take this year off taxes. It spans two years because I had enough deductions last year to go over what they allow, and they finished it out this year. The one thing that I haven't experienced that they told me that I would was, at the end of the year, whatever energy had flown on to Duke Energy, Duke Energy would pay back at one-third of the value they sell it for. But I have never gotten a check at all from Duke.

    I can't get Green Home Systems to do anything for me now. I wanted to expand it but I can't even get them to return a call for me. When I bought it, I wanted a battery or two. I was told the batteries were changing, that there'd be better materials coming out in the fall and that I should wait. I waited but I'm still waiting. I've even called the installer that did the install for them and he said, "You have to go through the people that you bought it through."

    Green Home Systems made everything very simple. They explained to me NV Energy can take months and months to approve an application and they were correct. We started the process in February, and didn't actually get to the point where we could get NV Energy until May and it wasn't installed until the end of September. But that was because of NV Energy, not Green Home Systems. One of the wires wasn't quite right. So even though it was collecting energy and I was using it, it was sending that energy to NV Energy. The app itself, which is from a company that they use, was not correctly reporting to me what I was consuming. Because it is so rural, it did take the electrician a while to get out here. But oddly enough, they came out a week and a half ago and the guy got it fixed. Then the app completely changed.

    Green Home Systems made it very, very easy. Even though the guy that I was initially working with was no longer there, the other people were and they're in my cellphone. Whenever I've contacted them with a question, they were wonderful. I wish they would take over NV Energy because that company sucks. Green Home Systems has been wonderful. They've done a good job and their customer service is excellent.

    The woman that I dealt with was very personal and she seemed like she knew what she was talking about. I usually have a good sense with somebody like that and it was a very positive experience with Green Home Systems. I wasn't there with the installation, but everything was good and I'm very satisfied. I wanted solar. It's expensive and I couldn't get the rebate because I'm retired. So, if I don't pay anything, I can't get anything back. I had 527 kilowatt hours left over this year. Penelec, my electric company, charges me $10.25 a month, and that's just to process the billing. I won't have to pay that till September because I had 521 kilowatt hours leftover from last year that I banked. I'm loving it.

    The proposal process was very good. The reps answered all my questions and everything seemed to be as they said. The install guys were very good as well. We got the system up and running and it worked well. My utility bill went from 160 a month down to $8.86 a month. However, Green Home Systems has to improve their reliability to answer questions when things are not working right. We had a hailstorm and I had damage and could not get anybody to return my call or tell me what I had to do. So, I'm hanging out here making half production right now because of the panels that got broken and they haven't gotten back to me to get them fixed. Everything was great till that point. I can get ahold of their office and talk to the lady there, but they turned it over to Frederick. He was on another line and he was supposed to call me back. This was last week and Frederick hasn't called. I wouldn't recommend Green Home Systems to anybody.

    The people from California were great but the people that they hired in North Carolina to install the solar panels were not. We live way out in the mountainous area of North Carolina and we're not close to any of the big companies that install. Green Home Systems hired a company that would come out here and install. They wouldn't get here till 11:00 in the morning and leave at 3:00. It took them over seven months. Other people we've talked to said it took four at maximum.

    We discussed all of this with Green Home Systems the whole time it was going on and they would prod them along every now and then and get a little more done. They understood that it was ridiculous. The contractor was not competent and didn't always have the equipment they needed. They were even going to install the panels wrong. We got 21 panels. They were going to install them three across and seven high. That makes a big sail for the wind to come up, pick that up and carry it off. We wanted it seven across, three high. My husband had to help them do the calculations to figure out how to align it. It took them an entire day to figure out how to do that. It ended up that Green Home Systems paid this extra money because it took them so long. They reimbursed us $1,000. We bought batteries for the solar panels and that went better. There was one guy that came out to do it and it took him a long time, but he got it done correctly.

    We would never recommend that particular contracted company to anybody. I recommended that Green Home Systems drop them from their list of people to call. Maybe they'd do better if they're closer to Charlotte. If it was raining in Charlotte but was not raining here, they didn't come. It's a different climate here than it is in Charlotte. They're drier and hotter and we're colder and wetter. They didn't check to see if it was raining here. They just didn't show up or they didn't tell us if they were coming or not and we would wait for them to come. We were supposed to get a free television that was part of the promotion at the time. They sent it but it was broken. I called and told them but nothing was ever done about that. But we love having the panels and the batteries and my husband enjoys having the feedback that's provided on the computer over the internet. He's all about charts and graphs. He makes the chart or graph every day about our solar use. We're very happy with the product.

    My experience with the advisor was good. At first, he mentioned that because this is my second installation, it’s not qualified. But he double checked and I am qualified.     We already knew what we wanted, and we asked Green Home Systems what they can do in terms of price, and they were able to do what we wanted. It was even a little bit bigger system than we had initially been budgeting. They looked at our numbers and our future use and everything, and we ended up adding three extra panels from what we initially thought. The installation was great. The installers are independent and they contract out to them. The team that we had was very professional and very communicative. The day they showed up, the lead installer gave me his cell phone number. Then, even if he was out getting stuff for another job, I could always just text him, and he would text right back and he was very good at communicating.

    The only thing that we had in terms of a hiccup with the installers was we were redoing our roof first before we were able to put the solar panels on, and the roof contractor that they recommended never really worked in Pasadena, which is the city that we live in. So, the roofing contractor got a little bit confused about some of the permitting and some of the regulations necessary in the city of Pasadena, which is different than LA County or the city of Los Angeles. Everything he did was permitted, but figuring out how to schedule the inspections was confusing him, and it led to several weeks of delay.

    The solar installation itself was very fast. They were here for maybe a day and a half, between getting everything delivered and then mapping out the plan, the electrician coming and doing that part, and then, them, putting all the rails up on the roof, and then popping the panels onto the rails, and then turning it on and configuring it. Since going solar, I have not paid for electricity in a year and a half. It's great.

    I have some good experience with Green Home Systems, but I've been waiting now for someone to come out. The system's not working right. They were supposed to come out and I haven't heard from them for over a week and they don't return my calls. They don't respond to emails. So, I'm not really happy with some of it, but I'm happy that I got it. The project manager that I had quit. I really liked him. He's really personable and he always answered me if I had a question with an email, and he kept me updated on everything. Then, I have to deal with someone else that was never on the project.

    The first thing that happened is I wanted a battery backup. When we started the process, I have an electric heat pump. We use a lot of electricity. So, Rachel told me that this battery backup would run my whole house. I work at night, and if we don't have power, my wife didn't have to start a generator. So, I wanted a battery backup that would run my house. In the wintertime, I have no heat when the power goes out. The battery that she talked me into wasn't even close to being able to run most anything that I have. It's only a 5,000 KW battery. So, that was our first issue. When we got the battery, I asked the people that were putting it in. I was like, “That little battery is going to run my whole house?” They were like, “No. There's not a chance.” I was like, “Well, the battery was like $23,000. So in my head, it should have ran the whole house.”

    When I called Rachel, we had a little bit of an argument because I was upset. She said she told me that wouldn't run everything, which was the reason I bought it. So, we had an issue with that. Now they haven't hooked up to the whole service panel. So when my power goes out, that little battery’s hooked up to the entire service, so it can't run my whole house. I have to call my wife and tell her, “You gotta turn the hot tub off. You gotta turn this off.” My wife shouldn't be in an electrical panel doing that. I've been trying to talk to Stan about how the battery should be only hooked up to what it can run. So when the power does go off, it just turns a few lights on.

    I don't know how they got away with hooking that up like that. I just want them to fix that part of it. I understand that battery is mine now, but it should be hooked up to what it can run only. It's hooked up to everything. So when the power goes out, you're trying to run everything that was already on, which it can’t even come close to that. I paid $100,000 for this system and now I'm having an issue with it blowing the breaker once a week, and I had to go out, take the panel off, and reset that so I keep getting solar. That's why I've been waiting for a technician to come out and check things. I don't know why no one showed up this week.

    I emailed Stan the other day and said, “When should I expect to see someone?” This was over a week ago that they finally told me they would send a tech out. They haven't sent one out. I haven't heard from them. So, I'm at the point where I don't know what to do. I am happy with the system when it's working. They should not let this go on the way it is. Also, the way that the battery is hooked up is a hazard for me. I just want them to do the right thing with that battery. According to people in our state, that should have never been passed by whoever inspected it code-wise. The people that inspected it won't call me back either. Other than that, I’m happy.

    There is a sweet lady named Irina in customer service that always tries to help me, and she says, “I'll get them to call you.” I'm like, “I know you will, but I don't think they'll call me back.” But she's so sweet. She’s the only one that responds. I know she can't do anything but she does try. I'm also happy with the installers. They were wonderful. If Green Home would take care of my issues, I would recommend them.
