When I engaged FOA, I told them of a tight timeline that I had. It meant they needed to accomplish their process within the 30 day projected minimum. They were able to do that leaving an extra day. They stayed on top of the activity even with several revisions that were needed. Good work staying on it!

Obtained HECM in September 2025. FOA was in constant contact about the process. The staff are very professional and knowledgeable. The cost was very competitive. All went as planned. Couldn't be more impressed with the Company and staff.

In keeping with short and sweet, I'll say that our Originator, Tara K. made everything simple and to the point. She was in touch almost daily to keep us updated. Very pleasant lady. From start to close, all went smoothly in about 2 weeks' time. I suppose the rate may be considered as average, but having researched the viability of FoA and their reputation, our decision was pretty easy.

We have wonderful support from the two people at FOA guiding us through the process. We had a tough case with a power of attorney being involved with wife. While it did take longer than usual, we made it through the process. Our terms of the loan were FANTASTIC and worth the wait. We felt VERY supported throughout the process.

FOAR helped us get our reverse mortgage on an expedited schedule and communicated clearly in each step of the process. Very professional and easy to work with and they went out of the way to be helpful and keep things on track for us. We had a major purchase awaiting the proceeds and needed a tight schedule on this and FOA delivered!

Finance of America Reverse, with representative Brandon **, handled our reverse mortgage with clarity, quick and accurate responses to all our questions and concerns, and a no-pressure speed that met our timeline. Rates and terms were competitive to the other two-top reverse mortgage companies we had queried, with superior terms in certain areas important to us specifically. Representative Brandon ** was a pleasure to work with throughout.

Good during dispensing of money requests, except it took 6 days. The worst imaginable when payoff time came. Closed down portal. No one to chat with on phone. Conflicting letters about extensions and receiving email documents. Just the worst!!!

This company is so bad. My mom got this reverse mortgage from AAG in 2022. No problem, no issues. Since FOA took over it’s been so hard if I wasn’t trying to take care of it she would have lost the house. Too much to write but just this week I got yet another confusing email which was followed 2 days later by another email saying ignore the first email. Insurance proof has been sent 4 times by me, even more by the insurance company. Every call is a different story. We tried to refi to add my name, spent hours on the phone dinged my credit and have never heard back.
Called in, nobody knew what I was talking about. This is just a small number of the issues. I have a job. Since FOA took over I have another one but instead of being paid they take money away. Always. And never fix it. I don’t recommend this company. When mom passes I foresee a nightmare with this house due to incompetence and greed at FOA. They sent a letter and charge 30 bucks for a MONTHLY property inspection that never occurred but the 30 bucks is deducted. Run. Run. Run.

I had a very poor experience dealing with Finance of America Reverse. To get signed up they were very nice and helpful. I was my mother‘s POA and went through a lot to be able to get the loan in the first place. Once we got the loan, it took three or four different times to get documentation to them that I was indeed her POA even though I signed hundreds of papers in the loan process.
I finally was able to access the money and as soon as my mother died, they would not let me access it anymore to contact them and only reached out to me with automated messages and was not able to ever get a hold of them. They threatened that they would take over the house if I didn’t contact them. I had to fix up the house first before we sold it and hired a realtor and sent them proof, but they still left a threatening notice on the front of the house stating that they would change the locks because we abandoned it. (For Sale sign in yard) Fortunately, we sold the house soon after and paid them back. I would have nothing to do with them and they are a predatory loan company.

I have been trying to understand this company and AAG (where I started and finished) or so I thought!! I have NOT RECEIVED A DIME!!! When I tried to find out why I was told I had nothing in my account to withdraw. They had kept ALL my money to pay my home insurance and taxes. I am living on SS and am disabled. Worked lots of years but living on less than $1300 a month. It is just me so I have to pay for everything - highlights - can't climb a ladder to change the bulb. $75.00! Can't mow the grass! Price just keeps going up!! My home was paid off and I decided to put it to use in my golden years. Well I have made many calls. The last few were young guys who told ME to call THEM back in a month. Waiting on interest rates to drop!!! Ok. Got a bridge to sell those guys. But I am rambling.
I have tried to do all I can but the health issue I have is going to require more than I can handle. Long story short - If you decide to go this way - GO SLOW - GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING BEFORE SIGNING - AND DO NOT JUST "TRUST" THE PERSON YOU ARE DEALING WITH. I will be sure to update this when I hear back. Good Luck to All!!!!

I had a great experience with Finance of America Reverse. I had a wonderful gentleman who helped me and he helped me with the technical, which I'm not too good at, and everything came out fine. I asked a few questions and I got replies from several agents and this gentleman from Finance of America was the sharpest and he was not aggressive, but helpful, and he was persistent. I was impressed with his kindness and sympathy. He was wonderful about going over everything for me.
As far as the rates, I did get a good deal. I was happy with my home assessment and I was relatively happy with the rates. If a friend was to ask me, I would say to contact the gentleman I spoke with. I'm a senior and I would know that he was going to give my friend a clear explanation, follow-up, and still be a friendly agent.nWorking with the company has gotten rid of my mortgage payment, which was quite large. I'm on Social Security, and that freed up a little money for me to do a few things that I wanted to do and repairs. They were excellent.

I had a lot of problems because my mortgage was in an LLC. But Dana was my agent and she was absolutely terrific. They're also reliable and they work hard for you.

Ho Robert, happy to hear that Dana was able to help you through this complicated situation. Thank you for sharing your experience.

I liked the way they answered some of my questions. But the application process was somewhat complicated. I had to pay for two assessments which I was pissed off about. I estimated the house to be worth 230 and the first assessment came back at 270. FHA kicked it out and said they wanted another assessment. But the second came back at 288. So, I ended up getting the 270 but I had to kick another 650 bucks into the deal.
Other than that, my rep was very personable. The only thing I'm upset about was when they talked about the interest rate that I would be paying on the money that I withdrew, they said that the balance that was untouched would always be a half a percent more than my interest rate. I was led to believe that would accrue interest and it does not. It accrues a bigger assessment or more money available on your assessment or the amount you can take, but it does not accrue interest. I asked that question numerous times and I was assured that it would always be half a percent more, but it's not like money in the bank. I was a little upset about that but it hasn't been a deal breaker. I'm satisfied with Finance of America Reverse overall.

Hi Mike, glad to hear it worked out in the end!

I'm well satisfied with Finance of America. There's a lot of paperwork involved. It was like 32 pages of stuff I had to fill out. The loan officer did a good job for me. He did everything that we were supposed to do. It's just there were all kinds of charges that I didn't agree about, but that's the way it was. I didn't have a choice to argue or fight about it. I was about to lose my house in foreclosure, so there was nothing to do but bite the bullet and go on about it. Working with Finance of America saved my house. They're a good company. The people I talked to there were good. Josh was the main guy. He was very good.

Their rep Monica was very thorough and got back to me quickly. She had a lot of knowledge about the process. When I needed to get in touch with her, I had her private cell number plus the company number. We had to get counseling and do a lot of paperwork. Uploading and downloading all the stuff was easy. My wife hadn't attained the age of 62 yet and we did a lot of preliminary work. So, when the time came, we could close right away.
The only issue was when I had to get the second appraisal which came out of my pocket, it came out even higher than the first. But the law says they have to use the first appraisal. So, I paid an extra $600 for something that could have been a benefit because it came out as a higher appraisal. They explained to me that with the rates being higher, it's not necessarily a total negative because the credit line grows at the higher rate. It was one offsetting the other as long as it never has to be paid back until the house is sold. If you wanna get involved in a reverse mortgage, Finance of America is reputable and ask for Monica.

Hi Paul, thank you for the feedback. So happy to hear you had a great experience! Please let us know if you have any questions.

They've been very good. I've been very pleased with my results with them. I liked the contact that they gave me. They were very eager to work with me and let me know exactly what they needed, why, and to help facilitate it. Everybody that I've talked to up there has been extremely helpful and they've given me good information that I needed when I needed it. If they didn't know, they found out very quickly.
A lot of the process was done on the phone. My counselor was extremely good. I really enjoyed him. He was on top of everything at all times. He always contacted me back immediately, if I called him. Usually answered the phone when I called. I felt like I had a good friend there. He worked me through it and set up the different appointments with the people that needed to be. One rep wasn't very efficient and had to come back and get some papers resigned. But those things happen when you have 40 pieces of paper. Took also longer than I thought, but it was rather easy in the long run.

Hi Judy, thank you for the feedback. So happy to hear you had a great experience! Please let us know if you have any questions.

The rep we spoke to, Tiffany, was so knowledgeable. She has been in the real estate finance business a really long time. She was very well-versed and articulate, explaining everything to us. I had never done a reverse mortgage and I really didn't know a whole lot about it. The only thing that I knew was negative feedback about a reverse mortgage from when it first started in the 80's. We talked to her multiple times and got to be very comfortable with her. She wasn't pushy and she let us make our own decisions which I really liked.
Tiffany told us what we needed. Once we gave her the information, it was super quick. She gave us what the terms were going to be and sent us quotes. She told us the different products that were going to be offered. She also told us that if the interest rates changed, they would be sending a new proposal. The only problem we had was that we did a will and there were siblings on the will as a beneficiary on the deed. Tiffany didn't know about that in the beginning. So, that got a bit convoluted because the siblings all had to be involved. But once they figured everything out, it only took another week to resolve the issue. Tiffany's knowledge was so important to us. She was able to explain everything from soup to nuts. She was really on the ball and I enjoyed working with her. I would definitely refer someone to her again.

Hi Cathy, that's so great to hear! So happy to hear that Tiffany was able to take you through the process.

I only worked with one man at Finance of America and he was great. He kept me informed. He explained a couple of questions several times but it was not in a bad way. It was a very good rapport. The application process itself wasn't bad. It was the signing process that was awful. There were just so many different things to sign. Finance of America Reverse has done everything they said they're gonna do. They sent me statements.

Thank you, Joe. We're so happy to hear you had a great experience!

I wasn't very impressed with the rep I worked with. He would send over documents without proofreading it. We had an error from the very beginning that never got corrected. I really felt like he was too busy to really review what he was doing. Then, when it came to actual documentation of income and stuff like that, he was very flighty with it. We have enough income, so I wasn't concerned about that even though it didn't factor into the loan as far as I know. It's just to know that we could pay our taxes and insurance. But he did not hit me as a player. I've dealt with a lot of people and unfortunately, he didn't measure up to what I'm used to.
Also, the process took too long. He said that underwriting had it but I didn't know what was true or not. I was very frustrated because it was like it hadn't sunk in that I really do want this loan. But I was comfortable with the rep I worked with. After I got to read the documents, I was fine. What he was saying was actually true. But my loan officer could have been more on the ball. That's my most frustrating thing because I know what it takes to do these loans.
We did get the loan done, although things came up at the very end that should have been caught at the very beginning. We got our money and we were told that we had to take a certain amount of money out to get a better rate, which I kind of questioned if that was true. We were told that we had to take out over 50,000 even though I needed only 6,000 to start with. I'm overall happy with the process. I didn't like how much of the fees I had to pay, but the rules are the rules. I would recommend Finance of America to friends, but keep their eyes wide open. I didn't feel like I was deceived in any way but there could have been a better loan officer.

Hi Larry, thank you for your thoughtful feedback. We are always trying to improve, and we will review your loan to see how we can do better going forward. But we're so happy it all worked out for you in the end!

I did a reverse mortgage with Finance of America Reverse and it was good. The lady I dealt with was very pleasant and helpful. She gave me her cell number and I could call and ask her any questions about anything. She was really good. I was unfamiliar with the reverse mortgage because the existing reverse mortgage was done by my parents 20 years ago. The process was a little tedious for me just because it was my first time. There were some holdups getting contractors and the people to come over to do the estimate of the value of the estate. The whole process two months.

I got on the phone with Finance of America Reverse, read through the package when I got it and then started the process. It was very involved. It was nice that I worked with somebody who understood that my mom was in the background most of the time. But there were situations where she had to be on the phone with me during the counseling sessions. The first time was with my mom and I prompted her through everything, and that went okay. Then, once they understood the will part, the beneficiaries of the trust are my brothers and sisters, which means they are the owner of the house, so they had to go through the same counseling session. So I had to get five of them on the phone at the same time.
The person who ran that session was very good and realized that you had to ask one person one question, and then you had to ask the same question in a different way to a different person. The counseling sessions went well. They were an hour and a half, so they were long. But it all worked out. The process was very paper-intensive and trying to get my mom to sign 68,000 sheets of paper was a little cumbersome. We signed maybe 40 times at the closing. But other than that, it went well.
The finance took a little longer because the two lawyers disagreed on a couple of things and there was some discussion. The house was in a trust and that was the first time they had ever seen that. It was in my dad's will and it took a while to have the two lawyers dissect what they had to do. It was easier in the end once they got talking, but it took a while for the lawyer from Reverse to get back to our lawyer. It dragged on longer than it necessarily had to but they straightened it out. The issue is you could not talk to the operations people or the lawyer directly. I worked in banking and I understand that they didn't want the lawyers inundated with questions because they're paid to review documents. Overall, it worked out. But there could be some short-term improvements to make the process a little easier.
The rep was great. He got a little frustrated with the process too. But he returned calls on time, and was thorough and asked the right questions. He did a little blocking for us and we needed him to get involved. The appraisal was fair and that got done quickly. We got a commitment that the rate would stay no matter how long the process took. The rate was acceptable in today's market though I’d love to make it lower. The origination fee could come down a little bit but there's a reason why it was what it was and I couldn’t change that.

Hi Hank! Yes, the process can be intensive, but we're glad you and your family stuck with it. We wish you all the best!

Finance of America Reverse specialize in the reverse mortgage as opposed to several other places that I saw and I had a very positive experience when I reached out to them. I asked the questions that I had, and the representative answered them and guided me through the whole process. I didn't expect the application process to go so quickly.
When I explained the rate and terms to my brother, he was not exactly happy with me for doing that. He thought I should have come to him but when I explained the reasons why I did it, he understood. I have answered questions that my neighbor asked me about Finance of America Reverse. She's in the same boat and she's single. We're in our 70’s and we own our houses outright. We're living on Social Security and we have no mortgage payments. So, the house is our only source of any kind of extra income and we have things we have to do to fix the houses. So, she understands why I did what I did and she said she's gonna look into it later.

We're so happy it all worked out. All the best to you and your family!

They've sent me a lot of paperwork just off and on and how the loan is looking. The guy I dealt with was John and he was great. He was very friendly and helpful all the way through the package. The process was all pretty cut-and-dried. But the underwriters were a little too nosy for the time I've been in this house. I didn't like some of the questions I had to answer. But the broker I was dealing with explained it to me and was not forceful at all. He was very, very friendly. So he got me through it.

When I put some feelers out, I was contacted by Finance of America, and the person that I was contacted by was Linda. She is absolutely marvelous. She's very friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the entire process and what a reverse mortgage is. She was one of these people that when you talk to them, you kind of hit it off immediately. Throughout the entire process, any time I had any questions and I would contact her, she was always available, and she'd answer my questions right on the spot. She didn't have to say, "Well, let me get back to you and find out." She knew what was going on.
The whole process was painless. The reverse mortgage was very surprising as to how easy and quick it went. So that was even more impressive. The counseling kind of put a little bit more clarification on the process. In essence, it was kind of following up from what Linda had talked to us about out, so I didn't get a whole lot out of it. Finance of America has some of the finest, friendliest, and professional people. It was such a pleasure to be able to deal with a company where I get a live body, and the person that I started dealing with is still there weeks after the transactions occur, that way they know who I am and can take care of my questions or issues very, very quickly and resolve them to my satisfaction.

So happy to hear about your great experience with Linda! We appreciate you working with us and we wish you all the best.
